This is why she is under arrest. You're under arrest. YOU'RE UNDER ARREST. STOP. COME ON. STOP RESISTING. STOP. YES, YOU ARE. SHE moves quick as she hot tailed. She didn't do no concealing. She gave it all to her. I will pay for whatever. I will never in my life come back in this store ever again. Behind the shoplifters sneaky actions was an entire surveillance system capturing their every move [music] and they had no idea until the police showed up. By then, it was already too late. Here are the times when shoplifters don't realize [music] a hidden camera is recording their every move. We are This is law. Don't forget to like and subscribe. Beginning with a shameless woman who begged without a trace of embarrassment. Ma'am. They're taking me to jail because Kim wouldn't come back. Promise to God, I'm not that person. I just want to go home to my kids. I will pay for anything. On November 22nd, 2023, officers received a report from a shopping mall about a shoplifting incident where the suspect was believed to be a woman who used multiple professional methods to remove security tags and conceal merchandise. When they arrived at the scene, she was already detained in the loss prevention office and this was what happened next. So, this young lady here along with another young lady who took off and we weren't able to apprehend her. They came in kids polo and began selecting merchandise. They used a tool to remove the hard tags off and concealed. Each Each person had items concealed underneath their clothing. The other girl passed last point of sale. She took off running as we tried to stop her. We stopped her right in front of last point of sale, but like I said, she had already had them concealed. And I gave them everything. Yes, she did. I didn't clip. I didn't clip. She would have been signed if she was present. She was in the clothes. She can't come back in this store. She was good working. that moment. And I'm I'm begging you. I told him I would pay for her stuff. This was for her. She I know her. So you are present now? She had her wallet with you. You want to see the two I got an idea now. You got an idea? I don't know what he said. I got it. And he said he is present now then. Yes, ma'am. I'm going to jail? I can't because I can't get her to come back in, I got to go to jail? He said all he needed was her to come back. I'm begging y'all. I will pay for anything that she took. I will pay for anything here. This is not even me. Like this is not me. Please, I'm begging you. Okay, hold on. Can I call a friend? All right, ma'am. She believed that returning the items meant it was nothing serious. And even her claim about going to jail was just an emotional act before she tried to play the victim by calling her family. I'm going to jail. >> under arrest, ma'am. You got to take your purse off. Just your purse. Ma'am. Shayla, they're taking me to JAIL BECAUSE KIM WOULDN'T COME BACK IN HERE. SHE WON'T ANSWER the phone. She will not answer the phone. Oh, I'm done. No, no, I'll just finish him up. She will not answer the phone. It's Kim Tobin. That girl will not come back in here. And I'm telling them I will pay for anything. Did he say he's pressing charges? I told him I would pay for all of this stuff. This is I don't even He even said he knows she's a freak in here. Sir, I'm begging you to please just ban me. I'm begging you. My kids are home by their self. I'm begging you. I will pay for anything. I would I would never come back in this store again. My son is sick. One is uh 12 who's baby sitting, but he has to be the thing. And I have a 2-year-old. My sister was getting his hair done. I promise to God, I'm not that person. I just want to go home to my kids. I will pay for anything. She portrayed herself as a responsible family person to beg for forgiveness, but in reality, officers quickly realized it was just another tactic as she was clearly a professional and organized shoplifter. What you Car she has, apparently the car key that she has belongs to the other suspect. Okay. If you can get the vehicle and run the tag, that's who our other suspect should be. I'm about to view footage to get a better description of her now, so >> Yes, sir. Uh I don't think they're thieves. I'm begging you. I don't want to go to jail. I have three kids at home. I She asked me that she said she would do me a favor. She said she took me to the grocery store to get my groceries and my food so that I can cook for Thanksgiving. She asked me could I run in the store for like a second. I didn't know she still had it, but I told her I'm scared. Don't do it with me. I didn't know she started doing it until afterwards. >> did y'all come here in? I don't even know the make and model of her car. I honestly do not know. I just know it's a black car. I will take you to her car right now. I have the keys. It's a black car. It's a black car. I will take you to her car. >> park at? The side door, the door that she went out of. Okay. I'm begging your manager to please let me >> a SUV or is it a car? >> car. It's a car. It's a car. I will give you her keys to her car. I will give you everything. I'm begging you to just just bear with me and let me go home to my three kids at home alone and So you don't have a problem if I use the key and I don't think her key fob will work. That's why I said I will walk with you out there. Can you can somebody please try to get him on the phone and tell her she needs to come back up here? Okay. We we're not we're not the best of friends, but we're friends. Yeah, if you see her, go ahead and 10-95. It's going to be a possession of tools during. So, definitely a felony. Shortly after, the store's loss prevention team provided surveillance footage to prove that all of the woman's actions had been carefully planned. Can you enhance it? I'm going to zoom in right here. You will see the tool. And you're going to see her taking it off the hangers. And then she's going to be passing it to Adriana. For Adriana to put it in jacket. She said, "Come on, man. We got to hurry and get out of there, girl." I'm telling you, I'm going to leave your ass right here. I'm going to walk all the way back to my vehicle cuz I'm not going to jail. I was scared. I even thought I You look I kept looking around the I'm I'm paranoid. I don't That's I will pay for my own stuff. You understand? I don't play that. I So, we told Aaliyah to put all the stuff right there. She did all the kicking. She comes in here all the time. Which one? Her. That's how I knew it was her because she comes in here real quick. She moves quick and she hauls tail. She didn't do no concealing. She gave it all to her after she popped the stuff. See, she steady popping it and then taking it off the hangers to give to her to put it in her. Yeah, I can hear her in there saying that she was shoving it down her pants. Well, I don't know about all of that, but So, the manager here said, "Why did you put the She stuffed it in my jacket. She said, "And I And I didn't You're right. You got your own mind. I should have said no. You are absolutely right. Paranoid as hell walking out the door. That's why I said, "I'm going to pay for it." Returning to the female suspect, she showed no remorse and even began shifting the blame onto the woman who had accompanied her earlier in an attempt to lessen her responsibility. Please call him. This girl done brought me in this store. She done ran out of the store and left me and I'm going to get jail for her [ __ ] bro. Like she straight left me. Right. And she said she was This is what to the lash appointment? Misha, this girl left me and went to her lash appointment, dog. And this [ __ ] told me that the person in charge is going to be my kids in the house by herself. Are you serious? I'm so serious, Misha. You a old speaker. And you You a old speaker, Misha. Please tell Please, Misha. You a old speaker. Please tell these people this not me, man. I don't do this. I I will pay for that. This girl left me and then went to a lash appointment. Don't Like what? Damn, Misha. Come on, man. I will leave I will leave her car WITH Y'ALL. MY COUSIN will come and get me. So, we found it. Um I sent you that email that had this on it. It's sitting up on there. There's two of these sitting up on the front dash of the vehicle. Yeah, security officer, he told me he's when he saw this, he said that's her that's the name Kimbriana. I can tell you what. >> stand up for me so I can search you real quick. All right. You can just get the phone. You Can you answer that? That's They just That's my kids that are calling back. I was calling to check on them. >> Just give me 1 minute. >> Oh, okay. All right. Hey Siri, call Kimbriana on speaker. I don't see a fee. Okay. Her shamelessness did not stop there. Her face remained completely calm, yet her pleas were astonishing. body that you can contact at this time. >> Everybody is in Texas. Everybody's out of the state. Nobody out The little family we do have here is I don't have I The friend You see the the friend I had? Let me Let me just take the the misdemeanor or whatever, but the felony, I won't be able to go home to make sure they're okay. That's it. Malik, she need to get here now. I heard it was open container. We'll go over that. All right. Thank you. All right. Any weapons on her? In the end, she was ultimately charged with shoplifting and felony possession of tools used in the commission of a crime. Actions driven by dishonesty and manipulation will eventually be exposed, and trying to shift blame or play the victim only makes the consequences far worse. Next, this woman didn't even show a HINT OF REMORSE. HANDS! >> [screaming] >> HANDS, EVERYBODY! DID HE steal or did you? I guess we both did cuz I You both did? I guess. On the 28th of August, 2025, officers stopped a vehicle attempting to leave the Kohl's parking lot due to suspicion of involvement in a theft that had just occurred. As they approached, the situation quickly turned tense when the suspects refused to exit the car without resistance. Put your hands! PUT YOUR HANDS UP! HANDS! [screaming] HANDS, EVERYBODY! DO YOU HAVE ANY weapons on you? Uh any weapons in the car? No. Any time I tell you to just keep your hands up till we get you out, okay? Actually, keep your hands up. What is it? Can I roll my window down for you? You're good. Let me tell you again, you step out. When you step out, I want you to turn and face this way and put your hands behind the car, okay? Face away from me. Face away. Hands behind your back. Step back here in front of this car. I got you. Here. Any Any weapon on you or anything? Anything illegal? Together? Any weapons on you, ma'am? No. Okay. Spread your feet out. Spread your feet out. There you go. I don't want to misunderstand anything. Where am I going? Just go to where I had you stand in front of the car. I'm just going to pat you down for weapons or anything. Like that? >> Yep. Give it a bump on. The two suspects were separated to be questioned individually, but prior to that, officers had already discovered several signs suggesting they were experienced shoplifters. Well, that's her wallet, but it's got other people's IDs in it. Got some credit cards there. Size seven. It's got to be a female then, right? Not very many men Not very many men wear size seven. Huh. Shoes. You got a You got a You got a shopping list. >> Shopping list, but that's nothing on here. It's uh She's got to do it on any card. That'd be all right. It's on the right track. At that moment, officers directly confronted them with what had been found inside the vehicle, and the woman openly admitted everything without showing any shame. So, what's going on with the stolen stuff in the car? Um I'm not sure of what all he had. Did he steal it or did you? I guess we both did cuz I was You both did? I guess cuz I was with How so? I was with him. >> You were with him when he stole? You know what he was doing or what? Kind of, but Yeah? But who wears a size seven shoe? Is that you? Yeah. Who's that? Someone that Wanted to get a couple of shoes, yeah? Huh? Someone that wanted to buy them. >> that bought them. Okay. The husband. So, you're admitting that you knew he was stealing the doing the stuff, right? So, you're admitting you knew he was stealing the stealing the stuff from Kohl's? I mean, Okay. Whose IDs are all these? Stephanie She is not a Robert Eddy. With the we try to handle it a little bit. That woman left those in my car. She borrowed my car one night and she left them in the car. I have no idea. He wasn't with her or anything, but she left those and I tried to find her so that I could give her back to her. All right. Never did. I appreciate your honesty. Thanks. In contrast to the woman, the man tried to play innocent and claimed he knew nothing, unaware that everything had already been confessed by her. What's going on with the stolen stuff in there? I don't know about that. You don't know anything about stolen stuff? The girl's putting it on you. Saying saying you and her both saying you and you and her both stole from in there. Um socks and shoes and all that. I don't know about it. All right. Are you guys going to want to charge us with assault with staff against him? Are you able to fight Are you able to put a video up or anything? I'll have to deal with the warrant first. Okay. It's called Can I just get your name? No. Hello. Hey, was her warrant confirmed? No. So, she doesn't It's not She's We haven't been confirmed yet. We're still waiting. Who's it out of? It's out of Vinton County. Vinton? Yeah. Yeah, I was going to say It's not going to be a It's a pure one. Yeah, I was going to say just let me know or I would just take her to the jail. Yeah. We're just away from They have like 10 minutes until we have to call them. Oh, yeah, cuz they have the 10-minute hit confirmation Additionally, the vehicle search continued and multiple items were discovered, raising suspicions that they had been using controlled substances. John, here's some butane. And miscellaneous trash. Paper towels. Miscellaneous paperwork. Medication, pliers, a watch, Narcan. These pliers are for your speaker. Yeah, you can have them, huh? >> [laughter] >> Well, I got more medication. Narcan. Here's a rag soaked with something. You all right? Okay. Is that the first Have you guys used like gloves getting people out? >> Oh, yeah, all the time. Yeah, we get so many of them all the time. So many of them so much in plain view. We don't [ __ ] see them. Think you got a new pair of shoes, and the next thing you know, you're >> [laughter] >> Well, we're all staying jail. Apparently, it was for to resell at a later time, according to her. It was size seven. No one even No one here probably wears size seven, I would imagine. Well, she's that willing to talk, I'm hoping she talks to us. In the theft, the woman was charged with theft and held accountable as an active accomplice in the crime. Actions have consequences. Choosing to ignore wrongdoing or stay involved, even passively, can make you just as responsible when everything falls apart. Worse still, the woman even believes she had the right to steal. You know this is like a force. Get off of me. WE'RE NOT. I'M PROUD OF YOU. WE GAVE you the luxury of putting three handcuffs on you. Now you're reaching. So stop. On the 24th of March, 2024, police approached a woman as she was leaving the store with multiple unpaid items concealed in her bag. At that moment, despite the officer's presence, she showed no surprise, as if she had already prepared herself mentally. Her outward appearance only deepened suspicions that she was attempting to conceal her identity while shoplifting, and shortly after, the loss prevention staff had already obtained clear evidence of her actions. So, he has he has you on video concealing merchandise in your purse, okay? And you know, that being said, in the state of New Jersey, concealment is a crime that's considered shoplifting, okay? So, just you know, my recommendation have any merch if you if you believe you might have some merchandise, maybe a mistake or whatnot, I would take any of that merchandise that's not that's not paid for and turn it over to the loss loss prevention associate. Um if not, he's going to continue to review the surveillance footage, and you know, shows selection and concealment. You know, then you could charge be charged with shoplifting, okay? Okay, I can't Um I was going to go to sleep. That's it? I don't know. All right. Ma'am, we need your information, okay? The woman showed no shame as she returned the items, believing it was nothing serious, to the point that she was shocked by what the police said next. Wait, you're not free You're not free to leave. You're not free to leave. That's shoplifting. It was an accident. But before we Before we Before we get Before we get into that Before we get into that, okay? I we just need your pedigree information. Let's Please Let's just try not to make a bigger deal than what it is, okay? Ma'am, I know this is the information you provided. We're are going to verify it. So, I'm just going to just give you this as a warning just flat out just please don't lie to us. If you're found to be lying about your information, you will be charged with hindering, okay? So, I'm just [music] giving you the opportunity. We will verify it, but if for some reason um you're off a letter or off a date of birth or off an age, you will be charged with hindering, okay? All right. So, thank Is that Is that Okay. Uh just to verify, Stephanie, S T E, P H A N I E. Is that correct? Is that how you spell it? I'm sorry. All right. You know what? While we take the time out to work Please turn around. You're under arrest. >> No, you just asked me a question. >> Stand up. Put your hands behind your back. Stand up. You just gave me You just told me you're giving me a chance. YOU JUST ASKED [laughter] ME >> your back. Can I be honest with you? You just said you're giving ME A CHANCE. STOP. YOU'RE PLAYING GAMES. STAND UP. TURN AROUND. STAND UP. >> [laughter] >> TURN AROUND. THE WOMAN GREW VISIBLY IRRITATED when things did not go her way, and to prevent the situation from dragging on, the police acted decisively, but she made everything far more difficult than it needed to be. I was saying it. I was breathing. WHO IS THAT? WHO IS THAT? HEY. I'M GOING TO GIVE YOU MY FIRST NAME. COME ON, [screaming] GUYS. GET BACK. GET UP. GET UP. STOP. GET UP. STOP. COME ON. STOP RESISTING. Even at that point, the woman still believed she had the authority to command the police. And even when officers tried to help her sit up, she continued to make the situation more complicated. You guys used excessive force. You used excessive force. YOU'RE RESISTING. NO, I WAS NOT. YES, YOU WERE. ARE YOU TALKING YOU KNOW STOP Please stop hurting me. YOU ALL STOP TALKING SO I CAN TALK. LET'S GET YOU THAT'S THE PROBLEM. WE'RE TRYING TO HELP YOU. SIT UP. SIT UP. OH, NOW YOU WANT TO HELP? WE DID. NO, YOU HAVEN'T. JUST SIT UP. SIT YOU ASKED THE QUESTION. HE wouldn't let me talk. YOU WERE ABOUT TO NO, THAT'S NOT YOURS. She kept screaming, making it clear her claims of pregnancy or seizures were lies. She knew exactly what she was doing, and at that moment her innocence was just an act. I tried I tried to spell out my first name for you guys. After giving me a second chance, you guys were walking out the door right there. I just walked out the door. We were spelling out the name Stephanie, and I was getting ready to spell out my first name. You guys did not give me a chance. Okay. Instead you want to say, "Now you're under arrest for this." I was not trying to hinder anything. I was not trying to do any of that. The stuff in the cart was, I'm assuming, paid for, so we'll just bag it up for her. We'll bring that with us. Okay. So, how is that possible when I wasn't trying to resist when I was about to spell my name, but instead you guys just put me in cuffs? I don't think you understand it has something to do with you spelling your name. But it does, because as I know as I was getting ready to spell my name, I was getting ready to I was breathing >> He already told you you were under arrest for the shopping. >> Okay, I understand it. >> So, you have to get up. >> Oh my gosh, no. That's what you said. YOU DON'T LIE. THAT'S WHAT YOU SAID. >> YOU'RE UNDER ARREST. The only directions I gave you was, "Ma'am, you're under arrest for your Stand up for >> That's not what you said. What are you reaching for? I'm scratching. Put your hands behind your back. We gave you the luxury of putting three handcuffs on you. Now you're reaching. I'm scratching. Would you like me Would you like me to like fan it out so you see? She was charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, and trespassing. This case showed that dishonesty and defiance only made things worse. Taking responsibility early could have prevented everything from escalating out of control. Next, the couple remained unaware that they had been exposed by the cameras. He was trying to shoplift. Yes. You're with him. And you thought you were going to walk. Yes. Now I got to do about 2-3 years. Oh. On February 9th, 2025, police responded to a Walmart in Florida after reports of an active theft. A man in a blue shirt was seen trying to push a full cart of goods out of the store before being stopped. And a woman, believed to be his accomplice, managed to leave the scene unnoticed. A pursuit was immediately launched, and this is what happened when officers approached the suspects. Y'all, put your hands out the window. Hands out the window. Thank you. Back passenger window down. This is a Uber. All right. Back passenger, you just keep your hands up. Back passenger. Thank you, guys. What is your name? What are you doing? All right. What is your name, brother? Is it? Yeah. No, then let me see it. All right. My whole turkey. After some back and forth, police obtained his ID. As they briefly brought up the incident, the man immediately showed a defeated attitude as if he already knew exactly what was about to happen. You got warrants or something? Uh I just got a whatchamacallit for Say again? >> retail theft. Okay. Okay. If it come up, I don't know if it come up. I don't know if it's local or not. It might not even extradite in this area. Where is it from? Like the area? >> Daytona. It might be specific to Volusia County. Sometimes they're specific to counties only. You know, especially if it's something so minor like that. Yeah. Go ahead. So, listen, man. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say Yeah, what happened at Walmart? Just tell me what happened. Tell me. Um I didn't steal nothing. I didn't take nothing. So, I didn't steal nothing. Of course, he denied the theft since the attempt had failed. But, instead of admitting what happened, he shifted his story and tried to frame the situation in a different way. What happened? Explain. >> No, I I waited for I I went I walked out. I walked out cuz I didn't want to I don't know what's going on. I just want to I just want to clarify. What what was it you were you were returning, though? Man, I left my return the thing in there. I ain't even So, what what were you returning? No, I had a card, right? I was going to return The way it go, I didn't steal I didn't take nothing. Man, I'm not asking you you already told us like nine times you didn't take nothing. What what were you returning? We're just trying to get everything straight. We need to know the story. We're good. So, I just had a like a six-pack of shirts I was going to try to return. And you just left them there? No, I had I left everything in there. Everything I was going to get I left. But where is the shirts you were returning? They still in the store. You just left your property there for And you if it's a return. So, you walked in with the shirts in there? No, what I'm No, what I'm saying is I didn't I didn't leave out the store with nothing. No, I'm saying like you brought the shirts specifically to the store to exchange. Well, I was going to exchange. >> Brother man. No, okay. All right. All right. This just doesn't make any sense. I'm mad cuz I'm mad upset I didn't do nothing. You know what I'm saying? I didn't take the stuff. Like in other words, I didn't I didn't take it. I didn't I'm not worried about you taking the stuff. I'm worried about what you were returning. And what Can we make some sense of that? Okay. Cuz you didn't walk in with the shirts you were trying to return. I wouldn't I just said I was trying to return cuz I was nervous. But I was returning them. But I was taking my stuff. Of course with such a contradictory story, the officers could not believe him. At that point, they made their decision regarding the man. What I do, sir? I got to detain you for that warrant for for violation. Oh, man. So, we're just going to we're just going to go with that right now. Yeah. It's the same movie you watched a little bit. Caught something in the watch, but But we're going to do that real quick. Yes, sir. Yeah, cuz I have to detain you for that. I understand. I still got to get her name. Wow, for what? Because right now I still got to figure out a ton of information from Walmart. Like because I don't want Yeah, I don't I don't want Yeah, man. I don't want I don't want to end up having to my lady, right? Okay. All right. Lay down right here. I'm going to I'm going to finish searching. All right. Lift your foot up it I got you. Thank you, buddy. I ain't going nowhere, man. No, he's saying so you don't fall. Yeah, no, man. I don't know if you have poor balance or nothing. Just don't want you to fall. Yeah, I know the incident you were doing. Yeah, we're we're going to see about that. I still haven't got it back yet, but I'm going back with a warrant. I want Yeah. But I was honest with you, sir. Hop in here real quick, man. I know it's not necessary that they're going to take me. No, not yet. My wallet back there, sir. Yeah, I know where it is. I can't get in. Shortly after dealing with the man, officers approach the woman. It appeared that during the wait, she had prepared herself, visibly anxious and unsettled as she tried to present her story to the police. All right, I need you to tell me what's going on cuz you know that doesn't make any sense. He doesn't like I'm the one that's got to make sense of this. I'm the one that's got to make sense of it. He don't like How am I supposed to believe you for something like I don't know, sir. Just tell me what happened. I wasn't with him. I know he called you for a ride. Just say he called you for a ride. >> Yeah, he said come pick me up. Ma'am. Come on now. I got to be able to make sense of that. And I'm turning around. I said I got to come back to take him home. So you don't get together or something. No. All right. Hey, do we get her Are you sure that person don't have an ID? No, I don't. Trying to get her in the system. To clarify. Can you lean back for No, you don't have to do that. Just like lean back in the car. You're good. I'm just going to clarify cuz the first time I ran your name I didn't get anything. If there's anything that you missed cuz I know you said 19 and 69. Okay. Before I try this again, I'm giving you one chance. If there's anything you want to correct about this information right here, now's the time to tell me. Cuz if I find out it's not true later, I can't help you. >> Oh, you spelled the name wrong. E T, E T T. I put that in there. I understand but you didn't put the E on here. Other than that, there's nothing wrong? The woman's dishonesty was eventually uncovered and she began to tell the truth about what happened. However, it was clear she was still withholding certain details. Now, you spelled the name wrong somebody earlier. Now, I'm going to spell back. I know. I know I should have told you to spell back. Um they got me on a very important thing like we getting a big time drug dealer. I work with the flight controller. Yeah. And uh um And she knew Yes, sir. Cuz you know I got to make sense of this situation. Yes, sir. And you know that I Sorry. Yes, sir. He was trying to shop with you. Yes. And you were with him. Yes. And you called for him a ride. Yes. No, I didn't call for him a ride. I called for myself a ride but he called me and said he needed a ride. So, what was the plan? What were y'all going to do with that? I don't know what I was I don't know what I was going to I was going my own way. Can I make a phone Your phone Excuse me, sir. Please let me talk to the uh detective lady. Where's your ID at? Sir. Whose? Mine. Shortly after, both suspects were transported to the police station in the same vehicle where they spoke to each other expressing their regret over what had happened. I'm sorry, baby. Told you to don't fist don't do that, baby. Now I got to do about 2 3 years. Oh, with that no money to bond out. Why they going to charge me with grand theft? Why? Cuz I took over $500 worth of stuff yesterday. That was over $500? They said it had to be over 700. Five. They just told me. You got failure, I got failure. Who told you? I think five, probably. I just got to get this court ticket. Where is all my stuff at the motel? I don't know. Who am I supposed to send to go get it? I can't send you. I don't even know. I'm going to send pops to go get all that stuff. No, no, no. I couldn't have left without I I couldn't have I couldn't have left. I couldn't have left. I I couldn't leave it. The man faced shoplifting charges after the failed theft attempt, while the woman was also charged for providing false information and her involvement in the case. Attempting to deceive law enforcement and shifting responsibility only leads to stronger legal consequences instead of avoiding them. The woman also chose to exercise her right to remain silent, refusing to provide any explanation. I know I can't put your hands behind your back cuz you're pregnant. So, I'm just going to put them in the front. Call him and if you can let him know he didn't do it cuz I thought he had left. >> On the 18th of May, 2023, police were dispatched to a store after receiving reports of a theft in progress. The suspect was believed to be a woman attempting to approach the cashier counter and steal money from it. This is what the camera recorded. Where is that at? Where is that at? I don't know. We need to go there? It was confirmed that the woman was a store employee and 3 months pregnant and at that moment police approached her as she returned to the store. Miss Ashley. So, I watched video footage of you here yesterday taking the money, putting it in your pocket. Did you do that? No, I did not. I have it I've seen it on video footage. You got a piece of paper, wrapped the money up, put it in the in a white piece of paper, stuck it under the What do you I don't know what they call this thing. It's a What holds the money? Yeah, under the register. Yeah, under the register. Then you took the money back out, put the paper in some silver drawer, then put the money in your pocket. No, I did not. Or apron or whatever you were wearing. I didn't put no money in it. Look, I watched video footage of you doing it. I mean I I had no choice. I had no choice. Stay back. I'll be right back over there. I sure can. Give me people telephone Can I talk to her? Yeah, go ahead. Yeah, go ahead. Please give me your people telephone number. So I can call her. Yeah. There's some people here. I'm sure and Scott said probably can't work with you. I see. Let me help you. Give me your telephone number so I can call her. Yeah. She showed no willingness to cooperate with the police and even when the value of the stolen money was revealed, it did not appear to make her feel any remorse. I would tell you this, three it's $343 is a misdemeanor. It's not a felony. When are they inducing your labor exactly? Huh? Huh? Robert is my father. Who is the money with exactly? Is that your mother? >> [snorts] >> Uh no, that's my father. >> That's my father. Hello. What? Where where are you taking her to exactly? Uh Clark County. She's going to Clark County now. This is your mother. They are letting her make some calls but I don't think they can let her make too many calls. I asked her for the number. The woman neither admitted nor denied anything as she seemed to understand that her words would not change the situation. At that point, the police made their decision. Okay, come with us. George, go that way. Go that way. You don't have to put your hands behind your back cuz you're pregnant. So, I'm just going to put them in the front. Call him and let him If you can let him know he didn't do it, cuz I thought he had left. I'm going to build a lot of these so it don't Oh. All right. So, come with me this way. In the end, she was charged with theft. Actions in a workplace environment are heavily monitored and documented, and once clear evidence exists, personal circumstances or denial do not override the consequences. Next, the man didn't even realize that his entire plan had already been exposed by loss prevention staff. I came here 5 of 27. I don't got to steal no freaking computer. The back of the receipt doesn't have any printing or anything on the back of it. I'm not Yeah, I can show you our receipt paper. So, did it say it's not the same? On the 10th of August, 2025, police approached a man believed to be involved in a shoplifting incident that had been carefully planned. When confronted, the man denied everything and even put his honor on the line to stand by his claims. >> I came here 5 of 27. I don't got to steal no freaking computer. Is it? I got my money, man. I got paid. So, did it say 055 18 stupid 8000 So when did you when did you bought these this stuff today or Today Oh okay. I don't know like 6:30 6:20 somewhere in that area. Like tonight. So you just bought that. I just I just walked through customer service. I went to customer service. The lady was giving me a hard time. ma'am I'm not trying to be an [ __ ] cuz I'm having a bad day but every time I come to Walmart and spend more than $200 Right. I get treated weird if I'm not wearing a suit or a tie. Right. >> I don't I guess I don't look like a person who would buy a $800 $900 computer and I apologize for that. Okay. I probably shouldn't even want to shop here cuz I go through the same three times. I'm not an angel. Don't get me [ __ ] up. I'm from New Jersey. Right. But okay, she she looked at receipt. She took the thingy off it. I didn't even have to go to customer service. I walked to customer service. I get to the door here. Loss prevention stops me. She goes to the camera. She says okay everything's perfectly fine. Okay. She says sorry sir. You have a wonderful day. Is that receipt is that from from Walmart or is that a different store? >> is this is from here too but I bought this in different um departments. I got the luggage at the register with the computer. I got this They made me buy this in electronics cuz the guy said that he gets um he gets commissions. So I'm like okay I got something on my mind right now. Right. So I'm like whatever man. Okay. So I got this one at electronics and lady took all receipt at the door. Okay. Come on man. I ain't bothering nobody man. Why I let me walk out of here if there was a problem? And why I'm standing there? There's nobody blocking the door but all y'all went in the room to see if I paid for this. None of the man's stories convinced the officers pushing him to the point where he even used the weather as an excuse to make his situation seem more difficult. Now it's raining on us. It's not It's not actually raining. It's just the from the tree. This is an expensive unit. I don't play computers. Okay. >> I take these apart and swap them for the aftermarket pieces. Okay. And then I sell them on Marketplace. Okay. For damn near almost the same price that they sell them on retail. And then I take the high-end GPUs out of there and I put it in a less quality product and I'll resell that, too. Okay. >> That's my business. Okay. I play with electronics. Did you pay with this for this with cash or with card? >> with cash. I CAME HERE with cash. Okay. That's why I keep a locked money bag. If I make a big purchase, I come here with my money bag. Why? Because I don't have to flip burgers, but I still work for my money. All of these are flipped. I can take this apart and go to any computer store and get a dumb ass computer and swap out the whole RAM and everything. The RAM alone is worth a few hundred dollars. Mhm. Okay. It has a liquid cooling system inside of it. How much you think that's worth? I do not know. >> That's worth enough for me not to want any of this [ __ ] to get wet. This is a computer monitor. It's temperature controlled parts inside of this monitor. Okay. Now I'm standing out here in the rain because I spent more than a thousand dollars. And then the lady at customer service looked at her receipt and looked at me. And then the people here went to a room. They told me to HAVE A NICE DAY. AND NOW I'M GETTING STOPPED by police, so that's why I'm disgruntled. But Come on, man. I voluntarily stop every time. Come on, this is stupid. It's dumb. Why's that? Figure it out, man. It's not It's deeper than that. You know how this feels? You don't think Okay, cool. Let's say we resolved it. Right. I'm the black guy that got stopped in a [ __ ] Walmart by three officers. You don't think that's embarrassing? The man stubbornly insisted he was innocent and claimed he had a receipt to prove it, but it seemed the store had a very different version of the story. Okay, so what's going on there with him now? >> That is a fake receipt that he has. That receipt is not a real receipt. >> Well, he said uh he said that um he just talked to loss prevention and he said that he's fine to go and Cuz we're trying to catch him up on the fact that he's trying to leave with this false receipt. He's done this before. He already did this before, so we let him go with the receipt. But we were on the phone with you guys and they were telling me how far you out were. I could only stall him for so long. >> got you. I just want to make sure that what you're saying is He wouldn't come in the office and he was waiting in here and he refused. Yeah, he would So, when you looked at the cameras to see if It's not. There was no camera footage for that time and date that was It says that he was at register 19 at like hour 18:17. I pulled the camera back as quickly as possible to look at nothing that was occurred there. And you can see the receipt. The back of the receipt doesn't have any printing or anything on the back of it. Yeah, I can show you our receipt paper. So, did it show him on the cameras getting the items and bringing them back? Yes. Okay. He didn't bring them back in. No, he went and got them and He went and got them and brought them in. So, he came to see you earlier today with a white female. Um he was in electronics taking pictures of these same items that he has now. He was taking pictures of the UPCs and they were buying printer paper. But they bought the printer paper. >> the printer paper and he bought something else. The UPCs correct of these same items so that he could go home and make the receipt and come back in. So, he made the receipt at home? Yeah. Did he They're pretty good This is the second time they've been caught with a fake receipt. After this was by one of our door greeters. Um she asked to see the receipt and it had the incorrect store manager name on it. Actually, it had two store manager names on there. And she was like, "Hey, I can't verify this. Do you want to wait while I get it verified?" He said no and he left. And then the second time >> And you look at that one. Does that one have any flaws on it or The name is correct on it this time. Does it usually say Natasha Grant or just Natasha? >> Natasha Grant. It just said Natasha on it. Yeah, it has the full name. It has the address. And you can tell up at the top like it's not perforated like our receipts are supposed to be and there is nothing on the back side of it. Okay. With that amount of testimony from the staff, it was already clear how everything had unfolded. And at that point, the officers took action along with a clear explanation of their decision. Can you do me a favor then while? I'm under arrest, yeah. Try Try and have you on your back. Wait. I'm not I'm not struggling. I'm asking why am I under arrest? Can you please explain that? All right. So, basically they don't You didn't pay for them, all right? >> Sir, The receipt that you showed them, it wasn't There's no itemized receipt. >> Sir, I showed them the receipt and they took the receipt from me. Okay. So, here's Here's what >> Sir, I I So, here's Here's Here's the deal, right? So, we're going to go ahead and review the camera still, all right? PLEASE DO THAT NOW. YOU'RE YOU'RE PUTTING ME IN CUSTODY. YEAH. This is wrong. >> Yeah. Right now you're being detained, okay? Sir, can you please >> Listen. Can you listen up? I'm being detained? Yeah. So, Am I under arrest? You're being detained right now. >> You're being detained. Once we review the cameras and then see everything that they have, if they see you pay for the camera's all over the store. You knew that, right? Yes, sir. >> They're going to review to see where you made your purchase. >> my purchase in the front. Okay. And not at self-checkout. Okay. You made your purchase in the front. They're going to check >> on me, sir. They're going to check that to see if They're going to see if they if in fact you made a payment. If you made the payment, Can I ask you a question, though? Yeah. Why Why detain me if I'm not under arrest and I'm not being Well, we'll see here. I'm not dealing with you in a hostile way. >> Okay, but the investigation is still ongoing, okay? At that point, the receipt had been collected by the officers and everything matched what the staff had described, yet he still tried to deny it all now with a noticeably suspicious panic demeanor. But I am not under arrest. I will stand here with you. No, no. No. Let me I am I am asking you I am not under arrest and I'm being detained. >> me. Now, please just stand here. Hey, Stan. How was the laundry today? Yeah. Sir, I'm asking you may I stand here? I'm I'm under arrest. And if I am under arrest, sir, that's perfectly fine. I'm not I'm not struggling at all. Am I fighting you? Is there any resistance? Sir, just have a seat until we figure everything out. All right? You don't understand. That was a I don't Sir, please. I'm not under arrest. Why are you putting What's up, sir? What's up? Sir, why I'm Can someone talk to me rationally instead of just easing me into a car? >> Yeah, uh Ronnie, right? >> Yes, sir. All right, Ronnie. Here's the thing. Yeah, that's your receipt for some of my items that you paid for. That's because I paid for some of those items at a completely different MI. And that's what we're going to go look at. So, when they look when you show them the receipt Can an officer stay with me and just let me sit here? I don't want to get into a You're not understanding what I'm telling you. This gives me a lot of anxiety, man. You don't know what I've been through in my life. I got you. You don't know. Just let me sit here. And if I'm under arrest, I will gladly put my feet in here. I have not struggled to fight you or ran or nothing. >> I got I got you. All right. Thank you. Um so, the receipt This receipt is for the luggage and the And the the tablet, yes. The the Yes. So, yes. As far as the That was a separate purchase, sir. That money was That money was separate. Yeah, that's the one that you paid for at the register. At the register. Yes, ma'am. The man was ultimately charged with grand theft and the use of a fraudulent receipt. Actions driven by deception and denial can only make consequences worse. Owning up early is always the better path. What do you think about cases like this? Share your thoughts in the comments. And don't forget to like and subscribe so you won't miss the next video. Let me see the camera cuz I didn't HIT NOBODY. MA'AM. ON THE 18TH OF APRIL, 2024, officers received a report from a Walmart store about a woman who had fled after shoplifting. And more seriously, the incident involved young minors. This was what happened when officers approached the suspects. Step out. Get out of the car. Step out. Get out. Now. Get out of the Step out of the car. MA'AM. RELAX. BECAUSE THE CHAOS ERUPTED UNEXPECTEDLY, officers attempted to calm the remaining minors, but it seemed the situation was not as easy as they had expected. What are you doing? What are you doing? You're not going that way. You're not going that way. You're not going that way. Stay in the car. Stay in the car. STAY IN THE CAR. STAY IN THE CAR. LISTEN. YOU'RE NOT GOING THAT WAY. RELAX. I'm going to put you in cuffs if you don't relax. You understand me? Relax. She's being detained right now, okay? Till we figure out what's going [laughter] on. Cuz she took something from Walmart, okay? Okay, WE'RE GOING TO RELAX. RELAX. We're going to figure IT OUT, OKAY? WE'RE GOING TO figure it out, all right? Relax. Relax. It was clear that they could not yet distinguish right from wrong at that moment, and returning to the mother, the officers directly presented the accusation. Put your hands behind your back. For what? Put your hands For what? We're investigating a crime. What crime? Retail theft at Walmart. What crime? Hold on, what? I didn't take nothing from Walmart. >> Well, we got to figure that out. YOU'RE BEING DETAINED. LISTEN. CAN CHECK. YOU'RE [screaming] BEING DETAINED. YOU CAN CHECK RIGHT NOW. >> DETAINED. FOR WHAT? FOR THEFT. Someone said you stole SOMETHING. THAT'S A [ __ ] LIE. OKAY, we got to figure that out. No, YOU CAN CHECK MY STUFF RIGHT NOW. >> OKAY, WE WILL. [ __ ] CHECK. YOU CAN CHECK. I'M GOING TO UH NOW, we are going But we need to detain you. >> You can check it now. Go check it. Stop resisting. You're about to get charged with resisting if you continue. You need to stop. Stop. Stop. Stop resisting. Can you all tell him to stop getting to get off my mom? Relax. Can you tell him to get off my mom? Relax. Can you tell him to get off my mom? >> She's about to get another charge if she doesn't relax either, okay? We're trying to figure everything out. >> Okay, let me go to calm down. >> Okay, okay. You can do it from there. Clearly, the mother made the situation worse in front of her own family. And even after calming down, it seemed that they were not what she truly cared about. Can you get my keys off the floor? Grab my keys off the floor. I'm not going nowhere. Can you take a seat inside of car? I don't want to sit in the car. Well, you have a seat, so you're let's I'm fine. I don't need a seat. Do you all need to check our purse? >> Relax, relax. It's okay. Huh? Do you need to check our purse? Well, we're We're having an officer going over there. They're going to go check the video footage. You guys can wait over there. Can I give my mama a hug and leave? Just give us a second, okay? Just give us a second. Once we Once we figure everything out, we'll we'll let you do that, okay? But what is she doing? All right. Someone Someone said there was someone stealing at Walmart matching what she looks like, okay? But she doesn't have a thing her purse don't check. We don't know We don't even know what happened yet. They just said that someone was stealing. So, we have to figure that out. I'm steady asking her what did she steal. She's saying that she walked out with some merchandise, but she walked out with nothing. So, what is she talking about? She sounds stupid. If you would hear it, I could have had over to Walmart and probably start a show. At this point, the officers returned to the reason they were there, and it seemed she also had her own explanation to justify herself. Like I said, we're conducting an investigation that occurred at Walmart. Right? For shoplifting. Okay? Unfortunately, you matched the description 100%. Isn't shoplifting when you out the store with the stuff? Without paying for it. Right. I already told >> all points of sales and you passed all points of sale, which is all the registers, even the register by the little pretzel spot, and passed the pharmacy on that stuff. And they said they caught you on camera. All right? So, camera is not edited. Like you can't edit a any video within a few minutes. Okay. All right. Just so you know. All right? Can you explain what happened? I want to hear your side of the story. Yeah, I was scanning the stuff, and then the the lady was taking me out the comb. When you say the lady, you talking about the customer service rep? Yes. >> Okay. So, I was just standing there, and I got to go to work. So, I scanned some of the stuff, and then some of the stuff was left in the bag. Okay. Did somebody try to stop you? Yeah, and she told me to go rescan my stuff, and I told her I can't go rescan cuz I have to go to work. So, I left the cart there. So, you left the cart over there? Yeah, left the cart. >> your stuff? Yes. Okay. And then when you left, you obviously left in a particular way, okay? And we saw it on camera as well. So, they're saying that you left in reverse out of the store. I left in reverse cuz she was trying to get my tag. Okay. What she doing with my tag for? I didn't take nothing out the store. But you passed all points of sale. That's the main purpose. Okay. The woman had not realized that her actions were already an offense, and she even completely denied her earlier resistance. Regardless of the fact, when an officer stops to request for you to get out of the vehicle, and we tell Okay. and you start resisting and saying no, It's the way they got me out the vehicle. Yes, because you you said no multiple times. No, I said why I got >> When you're not cooperating with officers and we give you an lawful order to stop because we're conducting an investigation, that's in a sense resisting. And then when you got violent with the other officer and you start You actually >> No, I didn't get violent. You got violent You actually hit him. I didn't hit nobody. That's a lie. That is a big lie. I did not hit no officer. >> Seriously, yeah. No, I did not. Don't don't do that. Don't do that. I did not hit nobody at all. I don't I didn't even put my hands on nobody. >> It is on camera by the I Let me see the camera cuz I didn't HIT NOBODY. MA'AM, NO, THAT'S A LIE. THAT'S A BIG lie right there. My hands didn't go on nobody. He put his arm on his hand on my arm and dragged me out the car and I said, "Why do I have to get out the car?" So, why you don't Why you're not telling me the reason for me to get out the car? And then you pull me out the car. Yeah, at the end of the day when we're conducting an investigation and you It doesn't go like that. When you When you open my door and say, "Get out the car." You don't do that. Okay, so we told you to get out of the car multiple times and you denied >> The first time he told me to get out the car, officer, I said, "Why do I have to get out the car?" Then he pulled me out the car. You don't do that. So, we were conducting an investigation. That was the main reason. We We were conducting a We gave you a lawful order, all right? For cuz we were conducting an investigation. That was the main purpose. The woman was charged with shoplifting, resisting an officer with violence, and battery on a law enforcement officer. Actions driven by denial and resistance only make consequences worse. Taking responsibility early can prevent a situation from escalating beyond control. The chaos didn't stop as the next woman showed absolutely no remorse. No, sit down. Put your hands off of me, bro. Put your hands Don't put your hands on me, bro. On March 25, police received a report from Walmart that they had detained a woman for shoplifting there. Officers quickly arrived at the scene to approach her, but unexpectedly, chaos suddenly erupted. I see the shoplifter and I'm noticing she's getting very, very aggressive. No, I'm not. I'll sit right here. Take me to jail. Let's go. Sit down. What? What? I just asked you to sit down. >> You already got what you got. There ain't nothing else in my [ __ ] but y'all can go through my [ __ ] and property. No, it ain't. No, it ain't. They took that pencil that was mine. Take a breath. No, you're not putting my No. Now, sit down. Put your hands on me, bro. Don't put your hands on me, bro. Now, YOU DON'T PUT YOUR HANDS GET OUT OF YOUR DON'T PUT YOUR ON MY FACE. STOP. PUT YOUR HAND ON MY FACE, BRO. I SWEAR TO GOD. DON'T RELAX. YOU JUST PUT YOUR YOU DON'T PUT MY HAND IN THAT Don't put my hit. I already got it, bro. I'm holding my right here. >> HOLD THAT. NO. Despite committing numerous offenses and wrongful acts, the woman showed no remorse. Even more astonishing was her blatant disrespect toward the police. I have a prescription right now. You know what? Take one. In contrast to her mocking behavior, officers informed her of a serious charge of grand theft, all stemming from her prior criminal history that she was seemingly unaware of. We're going to go do the paperwork. Wait, what do you mean? Grand theft? Hold on, wait, wait, wait. Hold on. Grand theft? How the [ __ ] did that This is Edward Mary again. It's not freaking theft. >> Okay. I'm just letting you know that's what you're going to charge for. So we're not going to have a back and forth. Like there's no negotiation. >> But it's fraud. It's not Theft It's still theft related. Fraud is theft related stuff. There's a big umbrella of theft. But it wasn't even grand theft. They're Theft is theft related. And this is what you're talking about cash item with intent to defraud. Yeah, but that was the one for $10,000. I I did one for $235. It was $235. It was under $500. It's petty theft. And that's what I'm being charged with. Felony petty theft. >> Yeah. And battery on a law enforcement officer and >> even touch you. The woman was charged with felony petty theft, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest. Her reckless defiance only turned a minor mistake into serious charges, proving that refusing accountability and disrespecting [music] authority can make any situation far worse. Next, the man made a foolish decision because he was too tired. I was walking home. And my legs hurt. I'm really tired and I seen the bike. I didn't want to walk anymore. So I No, be sure to go ahead. I might as well go to jail. On April 14th, 2025, officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a residential burglary. What made it more striking was that the suspect behind it was a young man. As soon as they arrived, the witness provided a clear description of the suspect. He's a tall skinny kind of guy. White guy? Yeah. Okay. Did he have a shirt on? Yeah, he had like a flowery shirt, I think it was, or and a backpack. >> A flowery shirt, like a Hawaiian one? Yeah, kind of like >> Think white, blue All colors, mixed colors, it looks like looked like. I could I didn't really pay much attention to what he was wearing. I just watching him cuz I even came out and watched him walk all the way down the street. Okay. A little taller than me or something? No, he's probably tall as you. Okay. He's a tall skinny guy. How old do you think? Uh He's probably in his late 20s, I would say. Any uh distinguishing marks or hair or anything like that? Shoes, shorts? He's long pants. >> Long pants. And they looked like they were like baggy pants. Like I'm wearing. I said I didn't talk to him. I said I said I said, "Man, this guy is walking in there and he's looking and you know um they buy and sell tools, you know, and so I thought the guy might you know, he might have been been looking at the bike cuz he went down there. Then all of a sudden he's riding a bike. I said, "Now he's riding a bike." And I said, "Maybe maybe Bob is selling a bike." Yeah. So I didn't pay no attention to it and then until he rode out of here. I said, "I'm going to go down there and see if he sold a bike." >> Yeah. What color uh uh backpack you have? Uh damn it. I'm not even sure of the backpack color. It was like a flowery color. So you didn't I didn't really pay much attention to the beard >> I was in the house. I didn't see no beard. Shortly after, officers approached the victim and determined what had been stolen. What's this called? A Cannondale bike? Yes. It's a black mountain bike. Yeah, he leaves it open because he goes and plays pickleball and then I go for my bike riding and it was a little cold this morning so I didn't go as early. I'll close it when I leave. >> Okay. Um So where was it sitting exactly? >> there where that empty space is now. >> you didn't want this one. Guess it was last night. >> Well, those are electric and the batteries are in the house. Yeah. So this right here would be a [ __ ] to have. So it was sitting here so you wouldn't have had to grab anything or touch anything, right? Okay. All right. >> No, there was nothing. >> [clears throat] >> And what time did you leave? And the bike was here? I just left about what? 8:30, 8:40. Okay. >> And that's when Jim was ringing my doorbell and I didn't hear it and I was going out the garage and he scared the crap out of me and that's when he told me and I just took off. I didn't know what I was going to do if I found him but >> Yeah, yeah. And what time did your husband usually Oh, he left at 6:45. Oh, so it couldn't Oh, well. Jim called like at 8:30. >> But Jim didn't come in. >> Yeah, he saw him come in so that's when I left at 8:30-ish. Where does Jim live? I already talked to Jim. Yes. All right. Just about 2 hours later, based on the description they had gathered, officers approached the suspect who seemed completely unaware of what was about to happen to him. All right, how are you doing, man? >> Good, how are you? Good. Deputy Smith, how are you doing today? >> My name is William. Oh, William? Yeah, actually let me I got to get my my badge here. How you doing today, William? Huh? Pretty good. You work there? Uh no, I do not. >> Oh, I was going to say you look real young. How old are you? >> I'm 18. You're 18? You just turned 18? Uh no. No? No weapons or anything on you? >> No, sir. All right. Did he get any identification from you yet? >> Uh no, I don't believe so. >> Okay, buddy. What's your uh William, right? What's your last name, bud? Where you coming from today? Um I'm actually just coming from home. Home? Where you live? Uh it's like right down the street. >> What's the address? Who lives there with you? Uh it's my grandma and my two aunts. Grandma and two sisters, technically. How old are you? I'm 18. 18? Yes, sir. Perfect. All right, boss. So, this is what I want to do, okay? One thing. So, okay. This is a very nice bike you have. Okay? So, a bike just like that just got taken. So, I want to make sure that's your bike, okay? So, I'm just going to read you Miranda rights cuz cuz you have the same bike. Officers attempted to make the suspect feel at ease so they could then proceed to obtain a statement about what had happened. So, where are you coming from? Uh my house. Your house. What time did you wake up? Uh about 8:00 this morning. >> 8:00 this morning, okay. And what did you do? Hung out home and then I was like, you know, I'm kind of thirsty. Looked in the fridge, there was only milk, so I came here. Okay. And now I'm here getting these. Okay. And how long have you had this bike for? I've had it for about a week. A week? Where did you buy it? Gavin Simon's. Gavin Simon's? >> Yeah, he goes to my school. Oh, okay. So, okay. All right. I seen it on Facebook Marketplace and I was like, oh, okay. Really? Do you still have that? Do you have a phone or anything on you? I do have my phone on me, but the post isn't there. Okay. Was it Would it be in Is being in your Marketplace sold if you went up there? You contacted him on Facebook, I take it? >> no, we go to the same school together. Oh, so you texted him? Uh no, we like have a class together and he's like, "Hey, you want to buy this bike off of me?" And he's just like, "Hey, look at this." I'm like, "Okay." Okay. "Okay. Sure, why not?" And how much did you buy it for? About 800 bucks. >> 800 bucks? What do you do for work? Well, currently I'm unemployed, but I used to work at the New Slodge. Oh, really? >> Yeah. You saved up a lot of money, I take it? >> Yeah. I actually drew more from my savings account. My mom would kill me. Oh. Okay. Does she have access to your bank account? >> Yes, she does. Okay. And So, you said Gavin, right? >> Yeah. Do you have a phone number for Gavin? >> Yeah, I do. So, I could verify that? >> Yeah. Officers attempted to contact the number the suspect provided, but received no response, which immediately raised suspicion. That suspicion only deepened as his story began to change when officers questioned him again. Where have you been [snorts] at this morning so far? What you been up to? Um I rode down by LA Angel down up I think it's Spinnaker. I think that's the street name. Like further which way? Uh further that way by LA Angel. >> Okay. Close to the school? Yeah. It's probably what it was. Yeah. So basically just riding around getting some sun? Pretty much. Okay. >> I was going to go see if I could hang out with a friend named Zay, but he he wasn't home. Or at least I don't think he was home. Man, on the day that you're sick, you're taken away from school and I just want to sit at home and like be sick. Yeah. I miss school. You only got a couple more days you look back on this back in the day. I am. Like man, I wish I was in school. Where do you live? [laughter] Oh, we're down the street. It's a lot of streets. Uh I live I live on West Blue Hill. West Blue Hill? Yeah. It seemed the leniency had gone far enough as officers quickly got straight to the point applying pressure to push the suspect into admitting the truth. For your sake, just please tell the truth. I know. Because we already know the truth. We wouldn't be here if you didn't. I understand. We're literally looking for that exact white girl. That bike aftermarket thing that's on the handle bars that was just taken an hour ago. You really want to put that on your on your parents? Like this is your mom telling me to be truthful, all right? Like this girl stole my I could have broken my leg getting scared from the height. But if you if listen, you want to be a navy, I got family members that are in the military, all right? I can tell you one thing. One thing you you got to man up and tell the truth, all right? You got to own up to your mistakes, also. And you think that's the step for you to start lying now? I was walking home from school. No. I was walking home and I started tired, so I was like, you know, let's go find a bike. There's been a lot of them around here that have been taken. Do you know anything about that? This is the first one. Do you know anybody that's been taking them? No, sir. Cuz there's been a lot. I know. There's this I know a trail over near my house there's a bunch of bikes just laying down inside of it that looks like homeless people just live in there. You could have been the one taking them and just dumping them. Well, I have no idea. Is the one that goes through the park that comes out by Saint Castle? Uh no, it's not that one. It's one by um the churches on Gulf Stream. All right. Yeah, like if you go to that next street and you go down that street, the trail is on that street. He attempted to come up with a story to explain the reason behind his actions, but under pressure from the officers, he began to feel remorse and confessed everything. And my legs started to get really tired and I seen the bike. It had I want to walk here. More or so. Yes, I can admit to you guys I did take it with no bad intention, no bad intention to break it, nothing like that at all. I just wanted to get back home. I came here, stopped by this, I was heading home. Where did you end up taking it home? Um it was um I don't know what street it is. It's like in a community. It's uh um Describe the house. All right, can you say something? You can't be for real with me. With what? Like can you just be serious with me if I ask you something? No, be straight up, go ahead. Am I going to go to jail? This is definitely an arrestable offense. Um could be going to jail. I know that you're going to go speak to the detectives and they're going to decide from there. Sir. That's why I don't want to say you are or you're not. And they should know that they decide not to, that's up to them. All right? But when it comes to stuff like this where we've had an spree of burglaries, especially when it comes to uh bicycles, we want to make sure that get interviewed and spoken to and go from there, all right? And that's why I'm telling you just be straight up with them. Step over here for me. He was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling and grand theft of property valued between $750 and $5,000. A single impulsive decision, combined with dishonesty, can quickly escalate a minor situation into serious criminal charges. Owning up early and making better choices could prevent life-altering consequences.
