It's okay. Yeah, this is going to go the easy way, Frank. And she's not cooperating. You might stop. You are resisting. Stop. Stop. Don't move. What's going on, bro? I'm not your bro. No matter the actions or excuses, these shoplifters cared only about themselves, ignoring the law. And that reckless path led them straight [music] to justice. Here are the times when entitled Walmart shoplifters think laws don't apply to them ends badly. Welcome to This Is Law, a channel that takes you inside real encounters with law enforcement. Like and subscribe to support us for more videos to come. Starting with this shopper, she acted as if she was a social media influencer. We're not going to do this. Well, no, no. I'm about to call my Facebook because, see, I'm not sure. Two people came. On January 26th, 2025, officers were dispatched to Walmart after receiving a report that a woman who had previously been trespassed had returned to the property. And upon contact, she immediately showed her lack of cooperation. How are you doing? Oh, hold on 1 second. I'm good, and you? I'm I'm right here. No, I'm calling 911. For what? Because how you doing, honey? How are you? I'm good, and you? Happy Sunday. I'm just trying to figure out what's going on. No, I'm calling 911 cuz two because I don't want somebody might hurt me. Because I'm here shopping, and I can buy all my stuff in cash, but I'm calling I'm going to call cuz I don't want >> [laughter] >> I want to make sure I'm safe cuz I don't know who you are. I don't know. I'm shopping. Good morning. Hi, I'm at Walmart and there's a a guy that's here that's supposedly the the So, I don't know. He's saying he's a Naperville police officer, but I'm not sure and I'm worried because I'm just a woman and I bought my groceries and This is her. But Does the officer have a uniform on and a vest that says police on it? Um yeah, it does, but the thing is is he I don't know for sure if he's an American citizen though. Yeah, I'm standing in front of her. You can tell her my name so she can hang up. That's officer Buckley. I'm going to disconnect with Buckley. Okay. I'll let you know. Let me find my Hold on. Just by relying on that very exchange, it was clear the officer had been confirmed as legitimate, yet driven by her own belief, the woman once again denied it. I'm about to call my Facebook because see I'm not sure. It's two people came >> You can do whatever you like on that. Okay, cuz I'm like two two people two people came up to me before and the the thing is is hold on. Let me Let me Let me do my Facebook thing and I'm just going You can do whatever you like. Listen, [snorts] you were trespassed from here? >> No, I'm not a trespasser. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on before Before you before you say that cuz that's not true. Well, it is true. We have confirmed that you have been trespassed from here whether you remember or not. So, there's going to be two ways that this goes down. Walmart management trespassed you, okay? It is confirmed in our system and through their system that you've been trespassed. >> are down. That's No, that's okay. >> Good morning. I want y'all to be on Facebook with us. Yeah, this isn't going >> going the easy way, Frank. And she's not cooperating. You might as well come inside. I'm going to make sure y'all get on here and see this I came in here to go shopping this morning. I got all my groceries. I bought >> Yeah, that's it for you. You're going to have to come in here. I bought all my Listen, I bought all my stuff. >> abuse last time was issued a ticket and then you left. >> I bought all my stuff. Like a social media influencer, she insisted she had paid for every item, yet she had not even reached the checkout counter. And she continued acting as though she was the one being harassed. This Sunday, I want to go home. I don't want to mess and bother with y'all, but I just wanted to make sure that I logged in and told y'all, but I'm tired. So, I'm just leaving it on here. I'm not saying that. I just want to I logged in with my Facebook >> That's fine. I'm I'm tired. >> Okay. Well, listen. I'm not a trespasser, though. >> Okay. Well, you've been issued a citation before. >> been issued >> You're going to be issued another citation. And if you do not leave, you will be placed under arrest and you will go to DuPage County Jail. Oh, but you I don't See, that's what I'm trying to tell y'all. So, you get two citations, then it then you go to DuPage County Jail, okay? You I don't want to go to DuPage Is that where we're going to Which way do you want to go? Would you like another citation? >> No, no. This is what I'm trying >> And to leave peacefully or would you like to get a citation, not leave, and then go to DuPage County Jail? >> for, honey? The citation for is for trespassing to Walmart, which you've already been issued one prior. >> Police Department No, they're defunded. There's no money going in there. >> That's That's fine. It's still my job and I need to take care of that, okay? The thing is is if y'all not being paid to do the job, then you're not >> I am being paid to do the job and that's what I'm here for. And right now I'm helping and serving Walmart as You have to verify that you're being paid to work for Naperville Police Department. You have to verify that you have a visa to live in the United States. You have to have What What are we going on about this? This has nothing to do with the situation that we're dealing with right now. Yes, it is. You have to have a birth certificate and you have to have a social security card. You can't just come at me as a United States citizen and say, "Hey, I'm a police. You you got to get out of here." We don't Our No, you were told to get out of here several times prior. Listen to how it's going to go. How do you How would you like this to go? The woman acted as though she was highly knowledgeable about the law, but the moment another officer arrived, any patience and persuasion toward her came to an end. So, I have a citation. Mr. Franken, I like your eyes. You're a nice-looking guy. This is the thing. No, no, no. This is This is my thing. I'm just letting my Facebook and everybody know. Okay. You're going to stop. Why or you will be arrested. You're going to let it go. You are. You will be arrested. You will be okay. Okay. No, no. You're going to talk about it in the jail. You're going to talk about it in the jail. You are going You are going to be going to jail. Can somebody help me? Let's go. Somebody from United States, please. Can y'all help me cuz this is not right. Hey. You're under arrest. You are going to jail or you will be arrested. You are going to jail. You are going. This is not a request. No, no. These are my groceries and I'm going with them. Like If you touch Hey, touching me and No, I'm not. You're under arrest. No, I'm not. You're being told you are under arrest. No, I'm not. These are No. You are being told you are under arrest. You can be charged with No, I'm not. You're being told you are under arrest. You are being told stop. Drop this now. I got this one. I know. I still got it. I bought this with cash and it's my money and my You are under arrest. Stop resisting. You are resisting. Stop. You are resisting. Stop. It's defunded. These are not real police. No, you're not. I bought my own stuff. Perhaps nothing was real to her. The police were not real. The store was not real. And certainly her desperate cries for help were not real, either, because it did nothing to help her at all. I bought every single one of my groceries. Can somebody Listen, call my mom for me. Call somebody for me. >> feet up. Hey, that's all my stuff. Y'all can't just sit there and do that to a lady. No. This way. You were given a chance. It's over. This way. Okay. I Those are all my groceries that I bought them. >> And we'll get her and we will we will find out and if those are hers, I'll give it I'll take care of her. I have the receipts right in my bag. You know what? The thing is is I'm here I'm here to help. I actually one of the people who's here to help everybody from their countries. I know that people in their countries are not getting food, but they need to tell Putin that he needs to stop bombing places and then people from other countries will get their food. We know that people need help. I'm one of them and then you guys are taking the help away from here. I live across the street. I'm a United States citizen. I have a birth certificate. I have a social security card. I have everything I'm supposed to have and I'm one of the people who's helping you guys. I'm helping people from other countries. I'm the person to help you guys. If y'all just keep letting everybody steal everything out the store, it's going to be nothing for anybody. And let me tell you guys something. They defunded the police departments because they didn't want any more non-pigmented people with non-pigmented eyes working because they know you guys have trouble seeing and hearing. So, I apologize if I'm yelling in your ear, but you know what I'm saying? I know exactly what's going on. This is not right. Finally, the suspect was charged with criminal trespassing and resisting arrest. When denial replaces reason and pride overrides cooperation, the outcome only becomes worse. Knowing the law is meaningless if you refuse to respect it. Next, a clever thief went head-to-head with a sophisticated surveillance system. But we know what's going in the bag. She's coming out without it. Have you guys actually seen the tool? This is supposed to be toenail clippers, right? And it snips stuff and then this goes inside. On November 9th, 2021, police received a report from a shopping mall about a woman carrying out a calculated act of professional shoplifting. Upon arrival, her every move was already being captured clearly on surveillance cameras. Come on in. You got to follow right now. She got some stuff. Where she at? She's up in She's Polo. She come out out the door here, take a left, go straight down, take a right. She's going to be right there. Actually, so it's on the second floor? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Have you all seen her already stuff items? Or do you have anything? in her in her bag. She's We think she's got some sort of tool. She's fiddling with the sensors. She keeps going back into her bra. Okay. Do you all want to wait for her to pass anything or how do you all what? >> Do you all want us to make contact now? Yeah. What do you all think? We We prefer to wait until she leaves. Wait till she leaves. Yeah, she's she's going to court. She can't say, you know, I didn't have my phone cell. Hey, so she's going to be on the second floor. It's going to be a black female, heavy set, stuffing items into her bag. Um they want to wait white shirt, black pants. They want to wait until she uh leaves. So um then we'll just go ahead and make contact with her then. We got eyes on her. She's in the children's section on the second floor. Okay. I don't think it's going to be super high dollar. The fact that she's got a tool with her. She's taking I mean, Polo, which is pretty expensive, too. She's taking a decent The bag's definitely getting a lot bigger as she's going. I just don't know how much longer she's going to be in here. >> So those are Old Navy. Is that Old Navy on the bag? >> Yeah. You all got some good cameras, just like some CIA FBI kind of >> [laughter] >> that you see on TV. The surveillance system left everyone stunned as even her tool for breaking off security tags was closely identified and examined by store employees. Have you guys actually seen the tool? Yes. It's like some kind of curve hook or something. >> What do you mean like what was she using that? Oh. Yeah, she was breaking off the sensors here. She's sticking it in the top. And maybe it's not uncommon or it's not super common, but sometimes they use razor blades. She's sticking It's like some kind of hook that she sticks right here. Wow. And she's concealing them in her bra. And she keeps going in and out of her shirt. Crazy. This is how criminals do Christmas shopping? Oh yeah. We just had cut two people >> to work an extra few hours and then go on a random day off and go That's how I do my Christmas shopping. Got two people the other day who said they were in here doing some early Christmas shopping when we asked them why they were in here stealing. Wow. They actually said that? Yeah. Oh damn. But you know that actually that black bolt cameras are working. Don't let me do that. I mean it's not like your girls cameras are good. You're not teaching when they're doing that whole looking around they think they're being like not suspicious but they are. I don't know where she's dropping the sensors or if she's putting the sensors in her shirt or if she's going to dump them later or something. So is that usually what y'all do is y'all wait for them to leave so you can go ahead and After a tense period of waiting, loss prevention staff and officers saw that she was preparing to leave and that was the moment they moved in swiftly. Call the mall. She's on the escalator heading downstairs. She's walking towards the entrance. Outside of the mall? Yeah, it's like going into the mall, not mobile mart. Okay. 41 to 44 she's going back to the Abercorn side. Stay over there. She She walked out. 41 to 44 she just walked out. No, we're not. All right, we got her. Did you give us that wallet out? Belt, watch, knife, clip. Okay, duct tape, have a seat. Do you have your ID with you, ma'am? Is it in your bag? Is it in your purse? Yeah. All right, we got it. With the pile of merchandise they recovered, it seemed nearly impossible for her to deny what she had done, especially when the very tool used to commit the crime was found on her as well. This is what we saw. Is there any other one? Yeah, that's it. That's probably what she Oh, wait. This is supposed to be toenail clippers, but it snips stuff and then this goes inside. All right. Yep. To take the sensors off. All right, I'll get somebody to come over with a camera right here. Okay. Oh, okay. Let me put that in my mouth. Okay. Thank you. Huh? You have a receipt that's dated and timestamped for today? For today? It was bought No, it wasn't for today. It was just in that bag, but I got the receipt for that. It was I swear to God, it was bought off my card. You can pull up my card receipt. >> So, you paid for that how long ago? When When did you buy this? Four days ago, and it happens to be in the same bag with the merchandise that you stole today. I bought that bag in here. You can look at your camera and see. I bought that bag in here with that in there because I was returning I came here originally to return a purse that I bought off of Dillard's. If you want to see my purse So, okay. Receipts could be Do you have proof that you did already buy that? Besides From my From my Dillard's card it was it's it's in pain for I promise you. >> I know, but I understand If you were the employees or the officers, would you have believed her promises? By that point, the officers on scene could already see through the act. Because you have a Dillard's merchandise. No, those pants were bought. Pants from Dillard's in a Old Navy bag with merchandise that you stole from Belk's today. She had a receipt in her purse that she pulled out, tried to tuck it in into that bag to look like she paid for it. I came in here with a purse. Okay, I had that in the Old Navy bag with those pants on and I had a purse in here. I returned that purse See, that's proof of the purchase right on the back. The yellow sticker. That's proof of purchase. That's what they put on there when you Purchase is required for a return. Yeah, that's That's when you stealing and you go in and you try to say, "Hey, I bought this, but I lost my receipt. So, can I return this?" And then they It doesn't matter. She's already going to jail. It was over a felony amount. It doesn't matter. 651 Hold on. 562 So, that's the amount that she has for Yeah. The subtotal not including the tax, but they're still felony. Yeah. It's It's on here. I was looking at the wrong amount. You're good. It's okay. You're going to be able to keep the pants. It's just going to go in the storage bag while you're in jail. Just so I don't go to jail for shoplifting in jail. With no more room to deny it, the woman finally shared her reason for committing the theft, but it was a justification that only made the situation more disappointing than sympathetic. Most people need that stuff for them. You got a kids or you trying to sell that? I have kids. That that stuff was going to go to? No. What do you want to do? You work? I wish I was going to sell it. Get that Uber lift job, get a few extra dollars in the legal way. It is a learning experience. How is she going to get keys to get in the house and stuff? This is awful. I'm so stupid. And I got to >> She doesn't have her own keys to the house? Well, she hit somebody. Stole her purse, so she just lost everything, but >> [snorts] >> I have a cousin that's living somewhere now, but It's definitely not good. 562.50 In the end, she was charged with felony shoplifting and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. Short-term gain through dishonesty only created long-term consequences. No matter the pressure or financial struggle, choosing an illegal shortcut only made the situation worse. Even more astonishing, this woman accepted everything for her job, including stealing. Can you just ask them that I'll never come back to another store again? >> figure that out. I'll stand by with her if you just want to go run her. >> Yeah. Cuz I was trying I was trying to kind of show initiative, I guess. I got you. On the 16th of September, 2021, police officers approached a woman at a retail store on suspicion of shoplifting. When giving her statement, she denied the accusation while simultaneously pleading to leave, which only made the situation appear even more suspicious. All right. I paid I paid for it all. I won't I won't ever come back here. Well, that's not what I'm worried about. If you paid for it, where is the receipt? He has it. He has it? >> Yes. Let's walk in there and find out. Okay. Well, I don't I'm going to be late for work. Uh well, no. We're beyond that right now. All right? You're just going to have to be late, unfortunately. We got called. We're going to investigate something. You will get a report if you need to go back to work as an excuse for whatever it is at work. But right now, we are investigating the possibility of a crime. So >> want to go back. We're going to figure everything out right now, okay? So you're just going to have to sit tight. Can I just sign something so I'll never >> No. No. Like I said, we're Well, this isn't a bargaining deal. Like we're in the middle of an investigation, okay? So Officer Evans is inside. Apparently, he has the receipt. I haven't identified her yet. Okay. Do you have a driver's license on you by any chance, ma'am? I promise I'll never come back again. And that's all well and good, but like I said, we got our process to follow, all right? Can you just ask them that I'll never come back here again? >> Well, we'll figure that out. In reality, if she had done nothing wrong, why did she refuse to return? Combined with her anxious tone and the story that followed, everything only raised more red flags. I'm a single mom. I'm just trying to get I just started a new job and I'm just trying to Okay. Yeah. So that's what I'm saying. I'll never get to come back again. No, I got you. So when um when you came into the store today, what did you come in the store for? I came to get the paper towels. Huh? Paper towels and the three slightly damaged ones that I paid for. And and three slightly damaged ones and the wipes. What are they? The square wipes? They're Mr. Clean wipes. Huh? And the The paint box. Okay. What card did you pay off on? Did you use a card or cash? Card. Card? You have the card with you? Yes. Okay. Are you able to pull up the bank statement saying that you paid for that stuff right now? Yeah, he's got the receipt. I know, and I'm having that officer go and get it, but I'm trying to I'm trying to find out what exactly you used. And your bank will reflect that you paid. Yes. >> did you pay? It was like $35. 35 for paint brushes? Yeah. >> Greased Lightning. Greased Lightning. And it was the um It turned out the woman had been telling part of the truth. She had simply left things out. Some of the items were paid for, while others were not. The receipt in the officer's hand slowly brought the full picture into focus. All right. No, we'll we'll cover that when we get there. So, right now I'm reading this. Tell me about this Ryobi 8-V drill, a handheld sprayer, quick change cleaning kit, cabinet cleaner. Oh, that was the brush. I took the brush thing. Okay. So, they have video cameras here. All right. So, if we look at the video cameras, what are we That's That's listen to what I'm saying. If we look at the video cameras, what are we going to see? And this is your chance to be completely 100% truthful >> Um you you going to see that um that I put them in the buggy. Mhm. And um I just did not scan the the drill thing. Okay. Hey, how's it going? Doing good. Doing good. So, what do we got? It's a female. I don't know if you know if Wait, we Yeah, we have we have her outside right now. >> Um she's a known shoplifter, so she's known to come in here and uh pick up a whole bunch of merchandise, and then she picks up shopping boxes, the moving boxes. Mhm. And then she actually hide the merchandise in between the boxes, and then go to self check out, and only scan like two of the boxes and small items and walk out on the power tools. Today when we saw her on the floor, we were able to Oh, give me 1 second. Just got to get real quickly. Now promises are all good. If it's up to the ticket or Please. I just don't want to lose this job. Well, you're not going anywhere right now. Okay? Like I said, we're conducting an investigation. All right. So, which uh register were you at? Show me. It was just that one right there. Were you video Were you watching video footage? I was uh that's what I was trying to do until he called me back. Okay. Now, he got me a receipt for This is what he did pay for right there. And apparently this is what he did. It turned out everything was far from over. With surveillance footage backing the investigation, officers discovered she still had concealed items hidden out of sight. By chance, is there any other items that you have right now in that bag that doesn't belong to you? Can we look? Yeah. All I have is my cigarettes and What about this? That's mine. That's mine. >> Do you have a receipt for it? Well, no. I have in my car I actually have more paint in my car. I actually have more paint in my car. That is just I was getting for work. Why would it be in your purse? Cuz I was going to carry it into work with the paint brushes and everything. I promise you if you look in my car I have paint in my car. Okay. I'm going to leave this here for you. I promise. Is there anything else in there? >> All right. Anything else at all? Nothing. It's my cigarettes and stuff. All right. That's for your business. Yeah. Okay. All right. So, what is Are you here with someone else or you just here by yourself? I'm here just trying to get to go to work. Okay. All right. You're You're here by by yourself. No one else is with you, okay? Okay. Did you tell them I'll sign anything they want me to sign? I mean, but he doesn't know what you're doing. You know what I mean? Yeah, I have the actual gear. This is the receipt that was actually paid for. Mhm. This is the >> realize that was two of them. This is the one that uh wasn't paid for. And I told her exactly what we're here for, exactly what that is. I mean, it's still $195 regardless because even though At that moment, officers asked her about the reason behind her actions, and somehow the explanation she gave was even harder to accept. You didn't scan it. What was that? What Why didn't you scan it? Oh. Well, for the drill. Yeah. Yeah. And that was mine. Mhm. Oh, [ __ ] What about the other item? No, I scanned it. Um which one? So, all of those items were paid for? Yeah. But, there was a list of other items besides the drill, is that right? Yeah. It just got It just got swept like like 20 things and stuff. I just didn't want to I have nothing to I was trying to do like I said, clean up the store get things. I mean, I can pay for it. Okay. But, why didn't you? Cuz it like I said, I'm still a mom. I haven't got paid yet, and I was trying to Okay. If you were buying the stuff for the purpose of maintaining your workplace, Yeah. why didn't your workplace give you the money to buy it? Cuz I was trying I was trying to kind of show initiative, I guess. I got you. Okay. But But you you're telling me that you You're with the Danville Police. Okay. You're telling me that you purposefully neglected to pay for those items. Well, no. I actually I actually went to the um with the one if you if you can hear me, look at the boxing. I went to hit one and um I didn't honestly wasn't trying to pay attention. But the um I honestly just got thrown. I didn't know. Which I can pay for. I'm being honest. Okay. This is the best job I've ever gotten. The woman claimed she'd given her all for the job, but her excessive dedication ultimately cost her that very position. Officers proceeded to place her under arrest. All right. Other than that, I'm going to need you to do me a favor. I'm going to need you to put your hands behind your back. No? Unfortunately, I'm going to have to. I'm going to take your bag off. Oh, can I restart my job? Well, we'll we'll figure all that out shortly afterwards, all right? Can I Can I bond out or whatever? You're going to be released on a citation right now cuz we're having an issue with the jail right now. So, we're going to get you fingerprinted and then we're going to bring you back over here and then you'll be able to go home. So, my car? Mhm. In the event, you know, something like this happens and the arrest is more effective where you actually would go to jail, and that's something that has to be dealt with for the state. We have to make sure that whoever is going to be able to come over and take care of the child in your absence, clearly. But again, this is clearly something you need to really look at yourself at when it comes down to taking care of your child, taking care of your family, taking care of yourself cuz this is not really the life that you really want to live, clearly. And whether you may have gotten away with it a few times or not, obviously, ultimately comes back to haunt you and unfortunately today was a that instance. This is not something you really need to start putting yourself through. So, I'm not here to ask you for your you know, for your sorry's or receiving your forgiveness or anything like that. This is ultimately up to you to make the decision to actually seriously reflect on yourself. In the end, the woman was charged with misdemeanor shoplifting. What did you think about the officer's final advice? If it were you, what words did you send to that woman? Please comment below. Next, lying came as second nature to this woman. I called you guys as she was running the corner and her breasts were suddenly huge because she stuffed all the product down her shirt. Taking them out for what? I didn't steal anything. I I have my stuff right here. I didn't steal anything. On March 23rd, 2024, officers received a report from Carter's about a retail theft in which the suspects had fled. And perhaps, because the escape had initially succeeded, the woman completely pretended she had no idea what was going on when approached. Hello. How you doing? How you doing? I'm Officer Morales, okay? Um basically, want to talk to you about something. You match the description of a female that we're looking for right now. Why are you out of breath? What's going on? I don't know. I was on the phone. I I just got wet. Okay. You said I matched what? You match the description of a female we're looking for. You mind if I get your ID? Yeah. I matched the description? Did you go to Did you go to Carter's at all? Did you do what? Did you go to Carter's? I have my stuff right here. Show your breast in the camera. What did you get? I got my receipt and everything. Okay. All right. We'll just get your ID and then we'll All right. Get your ID. You all want to match the description. We'll uh confirm if it's you or not. All right. So, she do got a Carter's bag, so she's breast up on it. I have my receipt and everything. So, just actually going to out your info. So what? Oh, she got a Carter's bag? Yeah. Okay. We're going to figure it out. At the same time at the store, an officer conducted an inquiry into what had happened based on the employee's statement. I called you guys as you were running the corner and her breasts were suddenly huge because she stuffed all the product down her shirt. Um and into her purse. About how much did you think they took? >> know, like a thousand dollars. A thousand dollars? Wow. She took it. >> provide an itemized receipt? Where are all the one of the females? Um she does have a Carter's bag. Uh we'll be at the Nike store. Everything. What What did she say about Carter's? What was all that you said about Carter's? She was running in the dressing room and then ran out of the store. All right, they're at the Nike store, at least one of them. Are you able to walk over there and ID them? Uh ma'am, can you just step out of the car for me, please? Okay. Uh let me see your bag. Let me walk and come back and do what I got to You're not under arrest. All right, you're just detained right now. All right? Well, I ain't doing nothing. So I know I ain't under arrest. Where's your phone? Over there? Uh-huh. Okay. For right now, you're just going to be detained, okay? So I have to place you in cuffs. I'm being detained, though. You're not under arrest. Like we said, you match the description of somebody that stole items from Carter's, okay? You have a Carter's bag. And once they come over here and what they say you is or not you, then we'll talk to you further on that, all right? But I'm still not on my stuff right now. That's what I said, like once they confirm it is or not you, if it's not you, then we'll let you go, but if it is you, then we'll have to talk about that, right? The woman was detained at that moment and shortly afterward, officers laid out their suspicions, including the possibility that another individual had been involved besides her. I want to talk to them who hit me in the Carter's cuz I'm trying to figure out what I supposedly took. We're trying to figure out too. Um apparently we just got a call about, you know, two uh two females matching the description you're wearing. Um my partner saw you go inside the vehicle. And that's pretty much it. Someone just stealing from Carter's. You have a Carter's My stuff right here. Okay, but you have a Carter's bag, okay? And you know, we have to make sure that everything is accounted for in that bag. Okay? But that's what we're here for. And it's just kind of little suspicious that you're you're not even in the driver's seat. You're in the passenger seat. So where's your friend? Where's who? Where's the driver at? My sister. Yeah, I'm waiting on her. She she Oh, she with her baby daddy now. I don't know. I don't have a problem. Okay. Don't put it on the east side. Wish she could have two of them. Yeah, you know, one is better than none, right? Okay. You want me to put your phone in the front of the car so I can see it over there? Yeah, that's fine. Morning. 30203. How long is it going to take her to get over here? Who? Who are you waiting on? I'm waiting on my partner to see. They said they're going to bring somebody over here, right? Say where that is. You know where that is. Where is my sister? Like I told you, if it's not you, then we let you go over there and see if you can have a conversation and see what they want to do, right? >> Okay. It seemed the search for the second suspect became difficult when there were no leads from the woman in custody. And at that point, the searching officer returned with a more direct and firm approach. That's what happened. I don't know. He's coming over to see me. Yeah. What did you say? I don't know. My sister is walking somewhere. She doesn't know where she She was out here with her baby daddy. That's what I'm saying. I don't know if she left with him. I'll have to call her. >> Got you. Is this your car? No. Where's the car you came in? This is the car I came in, but it's not my car. She was sitting inside. Okay. Where's your sister at? I have my stuff right here that I All my stuff is right here with my receipt. Got you. Where's your sister at? I don't know. She might have went with her baby daddy. She was out here with him. You want to call her? I Y'all going to take these off? Yeah. You want to call her? Yeah, I'll call her. Okay. All right, to her. over. Let's call her. I'm not taking off the cuffs. You want me to call her with the cuffs on? You can have your phone in your hand with the cuffs on. I don't know, but it's so uncomfortable. You just be patient for right now. Probably takes me to the back room. Okay. Did you leave with Barbara or are you still here? She gone. Okay, perfect. We'll do a warrant for her and then you'll be taken right to He got to get out of the phone now. Taking it off what? I didn't steal anything. I I have my stuff right here. I didn't steal anything. Did we recover the items? Uh Those are the Those are the items that apparently she paid for. And you look crazy. So you're trying to take me to jail and I didn't take anything? Well, they have you on camera. I didn't take anything. Well, it says otherwise. That's your That's their Where is it on the camera? Tell her to show me. They looked at it already. >> They already looked at it. That's why they called us. They gave a description and by the description of the system and stuff like that. I mean, you taking a ride, she's not. She said she ain't here. She just have a warrant for her arrest. You're saying you paid for these? Yes. Is there a receipt in here for these? Okay. You guys ready yet or not? Yeah. Did she want to talk? Yeah, she talked. She said basically uh she went in there to buy some stuff. She didn't steal nothing. All that stuff is on the receipt. It's still there in the bag. And that's about it. Okay. I thought you said y'all were going to get her to identify me so I could show her that I didn't take anything. >> We did. She identified you. We put the flashlight in your face. She identified you. Although she continued to deny everything, the moment officers searched the vehicle, the truth was revealed. Of course, so we need itemized receipts for that. Era Is this all yours, Ash Kaash? Um I don't know. Hey, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Yeah. The other suspect's driver's license. You you want me to run it? I don't know. Yeah. This is all Carter's. Well, I got one in there. This one's heavy as hell. That's That's all this stuff, too? Yeah, this says all Carter's. I'm trying to 3 Charlie 630. I got one. Go ahead. And 3 days later, the second suspect turned herself in at the police station, proving that the officer's investigation had been entirely accurate from the start. >> Were you at the window? Oh, what do How can we help you this [ __ ] What kind of property? Well, while I was in my car. We're just going to step through these doors here. If you wouldn't mind just putting your phone on the counter again. In the end, the suspect was charged with grand theft from with Carter's stuff and petite theft with Old Navy stuff. Dishonesty only made things worse. Surveillance, receipts, and declined card records exposed everything. One reckless choice quickly escalated a simple stop into serious felony trouble. Next up, these shoplifters still had a string of secrets lurking behind them. Hey, stop. Hey, stop the car. Get out. I didn't do anything. Get out of the car. I didn't do anything. >> Get On May 14th, 2024, police were dispatched to Best Buy after receiving a report of a theft that had occurred with a male suspect believed to have carried out the act while a woman waited outside in the vehicle. During the initial approach, tension escalated due to the man's lack of cooperation. Sir. Sir. Come here. Don't do it. So, 180 2213's running southbound. Hey, stop. Stop. Don't move. Turn around. Turn around. Dude, I got him. Yeah, good. Good. Got his stomach. Okay, good. You got him? Yeah. Okay. Come on. 2180, we got him. 10-15. Stop the car. Stop the car. Get out. I didn't do anything. Get out of the car. I didn't do anything. Get out of the car. What did I do, sir? >> Now. Put in park and get out. Hands above your head. What did I do? You're being detained. Come here. I didn't do anything, sir. I didn't do anything, sir. Sir, what did I do? I didn't do anything, sir. These are her glasses. Can I give her her glasses? >> Nope. These are her glasses, bro. Get in the car. I didn't do anything, sir. It seemed this was not their first time facing the police because despite what had happened, they completely displayed innocence as if they had never done anything. You good, bud? Yeah, man. What do you want to do? What's going on, bro? She didn't I'm not your bro. I'm sorry. I had to follow what I was talking to. Sorry. Who you pushing on? We'll talk to you in a second. What's going on? Why'd you run? Why'd you run? Why'd you run? Why'd you Why'd you chase me? I didn't chase you. You ran. Okay. Okay. Right. You want to play that game? Yeah. Let me get How much are they? Uh 180-ish. Well, all in total across what he stole, probably like 15 grand. >> built like 15 grand uh 12 grand for all those weeks. We You also you to we got warrants from every county, bro. I I mean, we got Port Saint Lucie. >> You got Port Saint Lucie? Hell yeah. >> Well, not so No, not warrants, but like bolo's, we have an AP alert system, but yeah. They've been looking for them for a lot a lot of a lot of places. 7 grand, man, already. Yeah, we have the property here. I'm just holding on to this though so we can document it and stuff like that. And then we have the other video of and all the other stuff. He can show you that, too. >> He has put it like on a Yeah, we can put it I told Wesley Wesley He's doing it right now. Thank you, man. So, as of I was talking to you, he was walking out. Yeah. He went behind that blue truck and I was calling him out, "Hey, come here." And then he takes out his waistband and dumps it on [music] the floor and then he takes off. >> [laughter] >> I know, I saw. I saw, man. You just don't know how happy this team is. They got us for 7 grand, man. And now we got them. >> 1,600, between all the across the other stores in Florida, about 16 grand, 17 grand. Okay. At that moment, the police separated the two suspects to conduct interviews. The woman still denied her involvement, even though the officers already knew everything. What's that? >> I went into the store. I didn't I didn't do anything. I didn't take anything. So, I don't really know why I'm being detained. Okay. Like I didn't take anything. So, who was What What happened with him? >> I have no idea. All I see is the guy is banging on my car. Oh, so So, what did What did you What happened? I didn't do anything. >> So, start from the beginning of I just went into the store. That's it. I didn't do anything. I didn't take anything. I don't understand why I'm being detained right now. Okay. I didn't do anything. I just don't know why you're putting me in handcuffs for not doing anything. What's that? I just don't know why I'm in handcuffs. I didn't do anything. Okay. Well, we're we're going to get to that, okay? So, what happened inside Best Buy? Why would I don't know. Okay, who is he to you? My boyfriend of a long time. So, your boyfriend? Not really a good choice, but All right, and what happened with your boyfriend? >> I don't know. I'm not in >> So, where were you when I was in the car. >> Okay. Okay. All right, well, we're going to get to that, okay? Cuz obviously, there's something else going on, okay? What did you didn't see your boyfriend do anything? I wasn't in the car. You were inside the car the entire time? >> Yeah, and the guy like held a gun to me. Like, I don't even I don't even know what like what is that? The question was then raised, why did she come here but not go into the store, choosing instead to sit in the car and wait? Officers directly confronted her about that reason. What are you doing here? Mhm? What are you doing here? I mean, what happened? What are you doing here? Well, I went into the store and I was looking around. You were in the store looking around? Yeah. And then And then you did nothing? I saw the guy. So, the guy that's in the back of that car >> Like, I can't I'm not in control of what anybody else does. Okay. I don't know. I mean, I was going shopping in the store, but I didn't have any money. Are you cold? Yeah. My manager that's exporting the video, okay? Cuz we can't figure out on our system right now cuz it's a newer system and we're all not familiar with it. He's going to pull the video tomorrow. Is that okay? That should be fine. Okay. And you witnessed this happen? Um so, I saw him grab something from the shelf. >> Okay. Um he went over to appliances. I have clear video of him trying to take the spider wrap, the security device off of it. He took it off, put it on a base deck near the near vacuum cleaners, and went to go tuck it, and then he walked out, and that's when uh Sergeant Horvath. Yeah, Sergeant Horvath. Dwayne, I think his name I went to high school with him. Um but that's when he ran. He tackled him, he dropped it right there near under the tire of a handicap car that was parked up there. Um yeah. What was the female's part in all this? What was she doing inside the store? >> short, they stole about $1,700 from us about 2 weeks ago, and we have a system called or or AP alert. They've hit multiple Best Buys all throughout the state of Florida. It's about 16 17 grand of just random product. Everything from Dyson Airwraps to audio equipment. >> them on video with those? Not on those ones. So, my GM is getting in contact with our higher-up AP manager to like I guess communicate with you guys, but as far as like what happened at this store, my manager tomorrow is going to pull video film of it for you guys tomorrow. Okay. It was clear they were even professional serial shoplifters. Shortly after, officers discovered stolen merchandise inside their vehicle along with other suspicious items. Do you guys carry that kind of product? No, that's that's not what we do. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You may use any of these rights at any time during this interview. Do you understand the rights I just read to you? Yeah, I just read them. Do you understand? Yes, sir. Okay. What um what happened all inside there? What? I don't want to talk. You don't want to talk? No. Okay. All right. Hey, I got to take him out. Whatever you're doing. All right. Can I have him step out? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, go ahead. Not yet. Not yet. Give him more than that right now. Okay. How did you get here today? In the car? Where were you sitting at inside the car? Passenger seat. Passenger seat? Where at? Where at? Like front, rear, where where? Passenger seat. I was just talking. Do you use drugs? Yes. Okay. What kind of drugs do you use? Heroin. Heroin. And what about him? Xanax. Xanax. Heroin and Xanax. Have you used any today? Yes. Okay. Now, listen. We're going to have a female search you. Is there anything on your person right now? >> No, nothing on me. Okay. Is there any in the vehicle? No. There's a There's a The guy asked me What? >> gentleman asked me What's that? Smell? No, no, no. The gentleman asked me if there was anything on me. Okay. So, in the passenger door there's a baggie with a white powdery substance. What is that? In the passenger door in the front of the vehicle. How do you say this? Yeah, it's like a white powdery substance. It's supposed to be like Molly, but it's nothing. It's like some Chinese [ __ ] Is that yours, his? It's not mine. Okay, but you know exactly what it is. Were you Were you going to both use it? No, I don't use that stuff. At that moment, the police seemed to uncover a hidden treasure when they found an entire notebook believed to contain detailed records of the woman's operation. So, if I were to send your picture out to every department in the entire state for Hobby Lobby, Burlington, and Target's, you're not going to be a suspect in any any thefts from those stores? So, that's what it says you sent out. What How do you How do you obtain this stuff to sell? What are you talking about? Is this your notebook? No. This isn't your notebook in your car. The The Hello Kitty like the bag you're on camera carrying Hello Kitty. These Hello Kitty notebooks aren't yours? Oh, those are really old. I mean, some of the dates are 3/25/2024, which is not that old. Is this not your handwriting? >> That's my handwriting. That is? That's my handwriting. Those are my books. Stuff I wrote in. It's like you're looking at stuff that really isn't nothing. So, well, let me let me explain to you from Like there's like nothing in there. Like I don't understand like you're going through Yes, ma'am. personal like Well, we we can search your vehicle. I don't care. You can look at anything. It's just things I wanted Hobby Lobby. I mean, you can go to every Hobby Lobby and see if I stole anything. I know. No. Well, the reason I'm Let me explain to you why I'm asking you this. >> frustrating me cuz like that's like that's like silly stuff. Both of them were charged with grand theft. Meanwhile, the man also was charged with resisting arrest and possession of controller. Shortcuts, fueled by addiction and easy money, always leave a trail. And when that trail crosses state lines, the fallout is no longer small, it becomes a pattern prosecutors are more than ready to prove. In the next case, the pregnant mother had nothing but guilt to her name. All right, go ahead and put your hands behind your back. Me? Yeah. What did I do? Put your hands behind your back. What happened? Are you You're joking. No. On the 26th of October, 2023, police received a call from Walmart regarding the presence of two women suspected of shoplifting. The situation appeared suspicious enough that upon contact, officers immediately decided to make an arrest. All right, go ahead and put your hands behind your back. Me? Yeah. What did I do? >> Put your hands behind your back. What happened? Put your hands behind your back. Palms together like you're praying. Awesome. Come here. Come here. Turn around. Hands behind your back. Hands behind your back. Put your palms together like you're praying. Again, you listen to me. You listen to me, not her. Yeah, we're going to go in the office and I'll let you know. Walk all the way to the end. Do not walk so fast, I'm hurting. Stomach hurts. All right, and behind them? All right, no. Sit up. Sit up, face the wall. Do you have any weapons on you, anything? All right. Wait. Cuz you're pregnant, I'm going to swap these cuffs to the front. Palms together like you're praying out front. All right. Have a seat. After securing the scene inside the loss prevention office, the officers went straight into the allegations they suspected. Here's my question to you guys. You guys almost hit me earlier, right? We stopped you. Right, but you saw me, right? So, you knew I was in the store, right? Okay. You also realize that there's thousands of cameras throughout this entire store, correct? Okay. So, let's play devil's advocate. How smart is it to bag items without purchasing them and then putting them in a cart, concealing them without paying for them? You talking about the house shoes? In general, any merchandise. That's it. Right, because we stopped you guys. But, I'm I'm asking you a question. Is it smart to do that? No. You saw me. >> I told her I put them in the front cuz I didn't purchase them, but I have money to buy everything in that cart. >> Okay, well, here's the other problem. We also have you guys from another incident with your photos where you guys were not stopped because you guys pushed out before they were able to make contact with you. So, at this point, today, you both are going to be trespassed from Walmart nationwide. You're not permitted in any Walmarts at all whatsoever. If they open one on Mars, you can't go to Mars and go to that Walmart, either. Their actions were serious enough to get them banned from every Walmart worldwide, yet their attitude showed no remorse at all, and their wrongdoing did not stop at shoplifting. The last amount that you guys pushed out? Almost $1,200. Just cuz we don't get you the first time doesn't mean you won't get you the second time or the third time or the fourth time. But, the time that you guys spend doing all this nonsense, you guys could be putting an application in somewhere for jobs and stuff. Okay. I need SSI. You can still work. We have plenty of people that work here at Walmart that are on SSI. Uh looks like the second one of Kayla is showing an activating one chance for M1 domestic assault and obstructing. I'll see if there's a hard copy of the warrant just to make sure. Sounds like you might be wanted in the county anyway. Nope. No. Come on. No, get that conversation. At that moment, the woman in the pink shirt had no prior record, so she was allowed to leave with a trespass notice. Have her sign. Stand up. Front. Hand on top of your head. So you're pre-trespassed. You can't come to any Walmart in the county, Sam's Club, Murphy Oil and Gas, parking lot, anywhere. All right. No Subways, no stores associated. >> yeah. Nothing at all. All right. You are free to take both bags and leave. But in that moment, a small lapse occurred as soon as the first suspect was released. The other woman with a prior record seized the opportunity in a reckless move. No, no, no, no. Stop. >> [screaming] >> You're going to get pepper sprayed. Are you kidding joking? No. I'm pregnant. Hey. Go get my radio. I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant. You're Record her. Record her. hit me. Record [screaming] her. Cuz I'm pregnant and I can't breathe. Get your Put your hands behind your back. Put your hands behind your back. I will once you quit doing that to my head. I can't breathe. >> Put your hands behind your back. Please. Put your hands behind your back. And don't fight me. Get your hands behind >> trying to fight you. I'm not fighting you. I got you. I got you. She already slapped me. >> Look at this. Oh. I got you. 262, I got one fighting me. So you ran from the police. I can't breathe and I'm pregnant. Okay. >> I got you, ma'am. Here. A pregnant mother ran like that? What did you think about her? It seemed she did not care at all because she was completely furious over her repeated failures and her wrongful acts. Are you okay? She's pregnant. Are you okay? She said Come here. She slipped her cuffs or didn't get them off all right. Again? I just want to go to my crib. Are you all right? Just turn that way. Turn. Turn that way. they got her on the ground and she just immediately I just want to go to my crib. Give me your hand. I can't breathe. Give me your hand. I just want to go to my crib, please. That's not happening. 262 She's good. I just want to go to my Stop. Please stop. Relax. I just want to go to Stop. Relax. I just want to go to Relax. I just want to go to my crib. You already know All right, you already know I don't even be causing trouble nowhere. You know that. Ma'am, you You know they got to tase me. What the [ __ ] Get off of me. Just get off of me. Ma'am, get off of me. Ma'am, you're going to jail. Stop. Stop. You're going to jail. Get off me. Stop resisting. Cuz if I would have tased you, I wouldn't have been able to do [ __ ] >> Watch your foot. Just take her to the hospital. Okay. Getting her into that is going to be a fight. So just take her to All Men. I'll let them know. >> I'll let them know. Both of y'all let me know. All right. What happened? I had her cuffed and she told me she was pregnant, so I cuffed her in the front. Did you cuff her out here? No, in there. Oh, she's in the office. In the end, the suspect was charged with multiple offenses, including felony escape. Once she chose to break the law and continued to resist, every excuse became meaningless. Only taking responsibility and changing was the only way to stop herself from spiraling into something worse. What do you think about cases like this? Share your thoughts in the comments and don't forget to like and subscribe so you won't miss the next video. Continuing with this woman, her tears were fake and her fears were fake. I don't know. You know the answer to this. If I do go to jail, do you know how long I have to be there for? I don't know. I I I I know you want I know you want to take me to county. I know you do, but please >> would I want to do that? On the 12th of December 2024, a woman was suspected of repeatedly shoplifting at Walmart, targeting household and construction items, but this time, it appeared to be the end of the line when police stepped in. Come here. Oh, sorry. Come here. Put your stuff down. Okay. Put your stuff down. What? I'm placing you under arrest. Can you tell me to go charge my phone to show you the online order? >> Okay. Hey, we're going to go over this way. Can I grab my purse real quick? Where's your purse at? Right there. Well, it's coming with us. Okay. >> [music] >> Okay. Take a seat. This is a seat. Okay. You can use that thing over there. So, the reason we have you in here today is this ORC. What's a ORC? What's an ORC? What's that mean? Organized retail crime. I don't know what that means. Were you Were you boosting for anyone? Oh, no, no. I just I just I just got my first apartment and What's your middle name? It's like my dad's initial M. Okay. I know I know you're an officer and I have panic attacks and Curtis and I know I made a mistake, but please please don't send me to county. I'll I'll go to court. I'll do community service. I'll pay the fines. I know I [ __ ] up. If you guys need to put me on a on a payment plan where I can pay you the money and pay everything up, I'll do whatever. Just please don't send me to county. I've never been to jail and I just can't go to county. I can't go to county. I have parents. I don't want to tell them. Okay. Please be in parents. Well, you should have thought of your parents before you started stealing. >> messed up. I know. My mom said that my PD officers that you didn't extend any courtesy for me and just want to take me to jail. I'll deal with every other consequence. Despite the pleading tone in her voice, there was no real remorse at all as it was genuinely shocking how she casually recounted her previous thefts without any sense of guilt. Have you done this before? Um I did it once, yeah. Uh I think Target. Were you arrested for it? No. And another Walmart? Walmart I never got arrested for it and it was not above like $300. A month ago? Yeah. Actually at Walmart they took me down because it was there, but that was that's not Oklahoma City County and I got a lawyer and I'm I'm doing everything I can. I just This is my first time doing my life. I don't know if you can see this, but I had court November 5th and the What was it for? The Walmart situation and he dropped it to disorderly conduct. If I don't know if you can see that. Yeah, we'll be able to find it. So basically the deal is if you have a conviction for larceny within 10 years, you're going to go to jail, okay? Like I have to go to jail? Yeah, we're going to take you to jail. >> something over $900? I have to go to jail? I will You can send me If you don't have a conviction, then we're not going to do that, but >> Um I don't I don't think I don't have a I don't think I have a conviction. Well, then you're not You're probably not going to >> I do have a conviction, can you take me to county? No. How will you know if I have a conviction or not? We're looking it up. And there's no There's no courtesy you can extend for me to not >> Absolutely not. You're stealing. I know. I know. People make dumb mistakes. Well, there's consequences for when you make bad decisions, okay? >> I know. I will make up for them in any other way. Just I don't want to go to I don't want to get raped. I don't want to go to jail. I don't want to get raped. The question was raised, if she did not want to go to jail, then why did she keep stealing? Especially when in reality she carried out her actions right at a specific threshold, seemingly to ensure she would receive only a ticket. Conviction means that the judge said like I'm charged with this fine, right? It was not a fine. I'm charged with the fine, right? Charged. Okay, that's not happening now. Well, he's looking it up right now. So, if if we do then >> I don't have a conviction, I'll just get a ticket and not have to go to court? >> Maybe. If you can any kindness, any Please don't put me in jail. Well, it's it's not a matter of kindness. >> I know. It's a I I I made a mistake. I know I messed up. You've done multiple mistakes. >> know. I know. >> It shows that you're not working on it. >> you help me out then >> not working on it because you did it again. >> No, I I I I'm sorry. I can't I can't even believe that that you would a month ago get arrested for doing this and then come right back and do it again. >> I know. It's when when you when you don't have money and you're trying to make ends meet, you don't know what to do. >> Okay, I know a lot of people who don't have money that make ends meet without stealing. I know. I know. And and you know, my phone turned right on like my lawyer made me make an appointment with my therapist to discuss it with them so like I can show you all of that and like I'm a good person. I'm an honor I can show you that like this is just my first time living alone and I [ __ ] up, bro. I know I [ __ ] up. I'm I'm being stupid. If you can do anything, just don't take me to jail, please. You can give me a fine. I'll do community service. I'll do anything. She appeared completely insincere, shedding no real tears during her pleas because the moment the conversation shifted toward examining what had actually happened with her, her tone immediately changed. >> So, um next month I should be getting a full-time kitchen job. If you guys give me the total amount of what I stole and I come and pay all the amount back, could it's stuff like that? That's not my decision and that's not even like Is that something that I could do though? Okay, it wasn't a thousand. >> a thousand. $750. $7.50? >> No, $7.50 was the total amount of the items. Okay, so it wasn't a thousand. Okay. So, the the $7.50 is the total amount that she took. Is that right? With her experience in shoplifting, the woman believed that keeping the total under $900 meant she would not go to jail. But this time, she made another mistake that actually landed her behind bars. So, but you know, it's not it's not a thousand. So, if you could just give me that cuz it's not a thousand. You're going to county, okay? Okay. Now, you've done this multiple times. You You just got arrested for a month ago and you just did it again, which shows us that you have absolutely no contrition for what you did. >> You weren't stealing essential items. I was I I was stealing a vacuum, a broom. >> We're We're not talking about it. >> Okay. You're going to jail, okay? But can I say something? My My lawyer My lawyer told me that if it's not if it's below $500 that I don't have to go to jail, so Your lawyer doesn't make decisions on who goes to jail. >> I'm sorry. Please give me a chance. Please. >> Uh Yeah, we should be good to go. Officer, please. Please. You you did this. I know I know I did this. >> Quit lying to us. I know I know I'm not blaming you guys. I just My aunt's an NYPD officer and she tells me she sends courtesy to people all the time because Okay, I I would really appreciate it if you stopped saying courtesy cuz it's not a courtesy. You just stole $600 worth of merchandise. >> I I made a mistake and I'm aware of it and and I want you to know I'm aware of it and I and I will whatever you want me to do, I will show you changes actively. Officer, please. In the end, she was charged with larceny of merchandise and taken to county jail due to repeated shoplifting offenses. Repeated excuses and calculated wrongdoing do not erase responsibility. Ignoring consequences only guarantees that the punishment will eventually be real and unavoidable. In the next case, this delusional woman still believed she held power. >> [laughter] [screaming] >> On the 8th of May, 2023, officers were dispatched to Circle K after noticing a vehicle with mismatched license plates. The plates were even registered to a person with an active warrant. This was what happened immediately afterward. My name's Aaron. You wouldn't happen to know whose car that is, would you? Is that your car? What's your name? Huh? What's name? Marsha Davis. Okay. The plates are coming back to a different car. You know something about that? No. How long you had that car? >> [music] >> Not like three months. What's that? Three months. I bought it from somebody. Okay. So, the plates are coming back to a different car. When we run the plates and the VIN The plates that are on it come back to a Chevy Equinox. Obviously, that's not a Equinox and the plates are expired as of last year. Well, I got a paper but the person who re-wired it doesn't say that. But, do you mind Do you mind moving that piece of paper so I can verify the VIN on that car? Well, you got to give me one minute. I got to take the car to the mechanic. All right. The VIN is partially uh covered up but the first three don't match the VIN that's on the plate. He didn't buy He got it from Speaking with the clerk inside here. [music] The woman appeared completely calm in the face of the suspicions raised by the officers and even when police explained the details more clearly, her attitude remained entirely dismissive. So, the plate comes back to a 2014 Chevy Equinox. Okay, that's not a Equinox. That's a Chevy Impala. The license plates are expired as of last uh July. Okay? Um so, we want to verify the registration on the vehicle. Um But, you got a piece of paper there on the VIN that's half covered up. Do you have your ID on you first? No, I didn't bring it cuz I was clearly at work. Right. Okay. We're not trying to cause you any problems but obviously there's a vehicle out here with plates that aren't matching. Just hold on hold on. No, you don't have to call anybody. Where's the keys to the car? Are you able to move that piece of paper so I can see the VIN? Yeah, I have to go in the I have to go in the job and get it out of the office. Okay. Even the vehicle appeared poorly maintained, which was highly suspicious, but the woman's attitude toward it only raised even bigger questions. A long time ago. The plates that's on it, as I already explained, don't belong to that car, so I'm towing the car. You cannot do that though, cuz the car not moving. I I can't You cannot do that.
