So, there's 10 to 18 different times that you have gone to Target and paid for items and then did not pay for items and they all have you all on video. >> Can I walk to your car and then you film me? >> Yeah, we can do that. >> Is that okay? >> Just want you don't run away or anything like that. >> Facing her wrongdoing, she was ashamed of being seen by others rather [music] than herself. While some simply don't care even when their family is involved. >> I got kids in the car. >> My baby and my home girl. >> All children. >> Okay. What about the stuff that was in the back seat? >> That's right. Some of the stuff don't have target heads on it though. >> And other shameless acts. >> So, I was on the phone and I didn't pay attention to that. That's exactly what happened. >> Okay. But I was going to go tomorrow and pay for it. Like, it wasn't it wasn't like it wasn't like I was going to steal it. I had the money. >> Stay tuned for today's video. Shameless shoplifterss think they got away with an entire cart undetected. First, let's welcome these two mothers with six children. >> I got kids in the car. >> My baby in my home girl. >> Some of the stuff do got tags on it though, but it's not from Target yet. I'm saying ain't taking cheese or nothing. >> On the 30th of April 2026, police received a call from Target reporting two women, Ruby May Jennings and Ashley Mack, who had allegedly left the store with six children and nearly $1,000 worth of unpaid merchandise. They may have had a reason for bringing the children along, especially when officers moved to arrest both mothers. >> I got kids. >> Back to me. Back to me. Back to me. >> I got kids in the car. >> My baby in my home girl. >> It's all It's all children. >> No, it's one grown up. >> Okay. All right. >> Look, my baby is fine. I don't want y'all to do that in front of me. Okay. >> Yeah. Put the baby down. Put your hands in the air. >> Come to me. Back up. Back up. Just hold her. Don't sleep right there. >> No, we're stopping you for they told that to say that you sold >> me or my friend. >> People in the car. Have a seat. We're going to just try to do this as the best as possible. Okay. >> Okay. >> Back to me. Back to me. Back to me. >> Mom, please get out. She can come. Get the pants. Please. >> Come on. Back to me. There we go. >> Sorry. >> It's all right. I got you. my car and we're going to figure it out. Okay. Help me secure the car. Make sure the car the car is good. Have a seat. >> My baby. >> My baby. >> Okay. We're going to make sure we take care of everything. Okay. >> We'll take care of everything. Okay. Just give us a second. >> They acted concerned about the children in the car, but clearly didn't care enough when some of them were sitting in the front without seat belts. One child needed special attention, even leading officers to temporarily remove one mother's handcuffs. >> The only reason you're coming out of handcuffs. I'm >> sorry. He's getting out. >> Listen to me. I'm going to take care of that. >> I got you. >> Handcuffs is to hold this baby. >> I can't call my mom to come get her. >> Hold on. >> No, we're definitely going to get to that. Okay. We're definitely going to get to that. Just hold the baby. Okay. >> Hey, can she go back in the car? >> Can she go back in the car? Can Can he see? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Have a have a seat. >> Where's the blanket? What does it look like? >> It's in her car. So, just take what's wrong with her. >> Okay. Right now, I'm just trying to get the kids situated >> and then we can worry about everything else. She's being compliant. So, >> just her in the car? >> No, it was decent. She's the passenger. She's the driver. >> Mom kids. >> They're splitting them. >> How many kids do you have in the car? Three more. >> How many are your kids? >> Um, three including her. >> Okay. And she has how many? Three. Two. I >> think. Yes. >> Are there six kids total? >> Including her. >> Okay. >> Who's this? >> My mom. >> Hello. Ask Max. >> Hey, are you going to be able to come over here and pick up these kids? >> This girl is really driving me crazy. Sorry, but she is driving me insane. So, the issue the issue we have is Target wants to press charges for theft and I have all these babies and I really don't want to call DCF. >> Clearly, this was no longer a simple shoplifting arrest. The two mothers had made things more complicated. While the large amount of merchandise recovered was also raising questions. >> Oh, that's my um stepdad. About to say, Mom, you got to um get my purse and get the money out of there so you could be able to bum me out. >> You rather be you rather give the money to mom. I saw the money in the purse. Like >> I saw a couple hundred bucks. Yeah. >> All right. We'll make sure. >> Um, didn't bomb me out like that, Mom. >> Okay. >> Is Is the car 10? >> Uh, Doug was saying that this car might even be hers. So, I don't know. I don't know if that means whatever. They're going to come take the the kids at least. >> These are like all $20 and $15 a piece. >> Yeah. >> So, it's just like >> I'm pretty sure it's going to be over. >> It It's going to be >> All right. Uh, Ruby May, I got to ask you a few questions. >> So, we we got the Target stuff. They counting stuff or whatever. I know you said something earlier about the Nike stuff. Yeah, that's >> that's your stuff. >> Where that came from? >> We bought that earlier. >> From where? >> Did that have that got something to do with Target? >> It don't have nothing to do with Target. >> Okay. >> Target. >> Okay. So, there's other stuff in the car that got other tags on it. Where that stuff came from? It's other stuff in the car that got tags on it, too. >> Did it come from Target? >> It didn't come from Target. I'm asking you where it came from, though. I'm telling you, if it didn't come from Target in this situation about Target, then >> I mean, but I don't want Target also to say that that stuff belong to them if it don't because some of the stuff don't have tags on it. Some of it do have tags on it. So, we trying to figure it out to make sure that you don't get don't hit with stuff that's not belonging to them. >> So, that mean it came out of Nike stuff? >> Not necessarily. I mean, they sell Nike and TJ Maxx. >> Okay. Well, I don't know yet. >> Okay. So, you don't know where the stuff came from? >> That don't have nothing to do with parks. >> One mother denied that some of the merchandise came [music] from Target. So, could the stolen items have come from another store? Let's see how the other mother responds. >> Okay. So, the other stuff that's in there, some of the stuff do got tags on it. Is it That was weird. >> All right. >> Some of the stuff do got tags on it though. But it's not from Target yet. I'm saying you changing nothing. >> No. >> But where is that stuff from? That's stuff from my house. >> The stuff with the tags on it. >> Yes. And she's a newborn, so some of her stuff is Wait, which bag? >> I'm not sure. I want to say I want to say it was in the front seat, but I'm not sure. >> Okay. The one that was in the front seat on the floor is >> it's hers. Okay. What about the stuff that was in the back seat? >> That's Target. >> Some of the stuff don't have Target heads on it, though. So, I I just don't want them to say that stuff came from them. If it didn't come from them, if it came from another store, then we need to give it back to the right store. You don't know where that stuff came from? >> Okay. Where you at? Any of the stores earlier or y'all only hit this order? >> No. >> Okay. Y'all didn't go to Marshalls today. >> And there's one university. >> You're not sure or no? >> Oh, no. That's one university >> today. >> Okay. I'm I'm I'mma double check real quick. But if it if there's any stuff over there with Marshall's tags on it, it came from your house or it came from out of store. Tell the truth. >> All right. Okay. I did it say TJ Maxx on it. >> Okay. >> So, she has TJ Max. >> So, her So, her new stuff say TJ Maxx. Okay. >> Say Marshall. >> Okay. Anything in there that say Marshalls is what? >> Not hers. >> Not hers. What? It'll be Ruby May stuff. >> No, it's not hers. >> It's not hers. It's Ruby May or not hers as a baby? >> Not the baby. >> Okay. So, you don't know where that stuff come from? Was you driving or were you going to pass your seat? So, they hadn't only been to Target, they had also been to Marshalls, forcing the officer to sort through the merchandise and return it to the proper store. >> They're going to be in the room 122. >> Yeah, everything is right there. I just going to need your name. >> Mine? What I did? >> I just had to say I spoke too. And >> you just ask my name. >> You talk to her. Oh, I'm sorry. I I thought you were Yeah, I'm sorry. I conf >> No, I just going to need her name actually. Yeah. >> I'm so sorry. Don't tell her that I'm prettier. [laughter] >> My manager. >> Augustine. >> I'm sorry. I just going to need your name. It's Colette. >> Is it your >> Here's going to be the deal. We're going to allow you to take this vehicle and park somewhere in the parking lot. >> Okay. All right. >> You cannot drive. Your kids got to come out the vehicle. No one cannot leave inside that vehicle >> cuz the tag is not attached. The VIN is we identify unable to verify the information about the vehicle. So, we're going to leave it here and whenever you can get a tow truck or whatever, you can remove it. >> You guys are grown. Do whatever you want to do. >> I'm I'm going to stay here and watch what you're going to do. But >> the kids are not leaving that car. >> Ruby May Jennings and Ashley Mack were charged with grand theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Bringing children along did not make the consequences of shoplifting disappear, and it only created more complications for everyone involved. The case also shows how one theft investigation can become much more complicated when officers discover merchandise that may have come from multiple stores. So, let's see what happened to these parents who stole for their children. >> On the 16th of March 2026, police were dispatched to an Ulta store to review security footage related to a theft at a nearby PSL store, hoping to help officers track down the suspect. But an unexpected discovery was waiting for them there. any info from the PSL store about pass up a theft cuz we have one of the subjects in custody that >> Oh, a parking lot. >> He's in the parking lot. >> Yeah, he was. Yeah, >> he's in custody now, but I wasn't sure if you guys got like any >> We're actually on the phone with him right now. >> Is it just the male? >> Is it just the male or is there >> We only had just a male in our store. for our general manager came back there with like a bunch of like wrapping from them, but we didn't see we didn't know when it happened, but okay. >> All right. Thank you. >> They didn't notice anything and they haven't gotten anything out of PSL yet, but obviously we got a female that came wandering out. So, they're going to backtrack. >> They didn't take anything here. >> They don't know. So, I'm going to go description on her mother. I'm go double check the cameras cuz they don't none of the packaging or there's nothing that's out of the ordinary here. >> But I'll go double check your camera, see if there's another one that's with them. But >> the suspects were identified as a man and a woman who were also reportedly seen at this Ulta Beauty store committing theft. Clearly, this was more than just a one-time incident. And by then, both suspects had been taken into custody. Come out for me. Maybe a lot of weight. >> Is that car yours? >> Yeah. >> English. >> No. >> Cheers. Oh, wonder moment. I got to grab another set of cuffs. Okay, I got to get another set. Other side. Keep going. Investigators also found they had tools for removing security devices, prompting police to look into exactly what they had taken. >> Hey again. >> Hey. >> So, can we get a like cost or whatever on the items that she removed the the anti- theft devices on? There's two of them, right? >> Yeah. >> Can you do like a training receipt for me? >> Yeah. >> And these are each like almost $200 each. >> How much? >> Like $200. >> Mhm. >> Those are the only two that I saw without the sensor. >> I can do this for you. >> It's each item is the price. You want to take a $500? >> It's pushing the wrong button. Screenshots. [laughter] >> Where's the other? >> Um, were we able to find the other security tag? >> Yeah, I just saw it saying there was another tag. That one was the one that actually like I saw was off and went off. You saw her take it off or you just saw that it was off? >> So, it went off and I went right over there and she was right in front of it and kind of like flustered and it was right next to the thing. >> Okay. I need his first base like that. >> Um, the one that the one that she did, she put it like here, but then the other one I found it was up here with nothing. Oh. Ah, >> there's the sensor for one. >> So, there's three of them. >> Mhm. Yeah, I think it's kind of low to fall. >> Back at the station, both suspects were brought in for questioning. Under the pressure of the situation, the man eventually admitted the reasons behind what happened. foreign. [snorts] [snorts] >> [clears throat] [snorts] [clears throat] >> See? No. As for the woman, officers also learned more about her circumstances. It became clear that both suspects were immigrants. [clears throat] See? [clears throat] Yeah. No. You don't see [cough] >> [clears throat] >> Yeah. So [snorts] you So, do you wonder where the stolen merchandise was going? The officer soon found out. >> The Facebook marketplace for someone. >> She sells it to friends on Facebook. She has to put a marketplace, >> not just friends on Facebook, too. import. Oh, no. performing. Okay. The woman was charged with organized retail theft after investigators learned through law enforcement channels that she was a suspect in 59 other retail thefts across Florida and surrounding states with an investigative total of $333,198. Rios Rosal was charged as a principal for driving her and both were held without bond. This case shows how a seemingly routine shoplifting investigation can uncover a much larger pattern of organized retail theft. [music] It also serves as a reminder that one arrest can expose connections to numerous other cases, bringing consequences far beyond a single store. Next, she was only embarrassed in front of her co-workers, not by what she had done. >> Arrest me? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Oh my goodness. For grand. >> Can I walk to your car and then you put me in? >> Yeah, we can do that. >> Is that okay? just once you don't run run away or anything like that. >> On the 12th of February 2025, deputies were called to a professional office building, but not for anything involving the company. Instead, they were there looking for a woman believed to work inside after investigators [music] connected her to an alleged theft at Target. Here's what happened next. >> Howdy. How you doing today? >> Good. How are you guys? >> Good. Good. >> Um, >> yeah, she is upstairs by herself. She's uh she's right now. >> Yeah, of course. >> Hi. >> Hi. >> Are you guys free? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Um want to go somewhere a little private? >> Uh we need to go this hallway. >> Sure. >> Sorry. This all open everywhere. So, and our AC's broken. So, we're going to >> It's going to be hot in here, too. That's fine. I just I'm trying to spare. >> The woman immediately directed the deputies toward a more private area, even before knowing why they were looking for her, seemingly trying to avoid being seen by her co-workers. But [snorts] watch her reaction when she finally learns why they are there. >> Here, place of arrest. >> Me? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Oh my goodness. >> For grand theft from theft from Target. So, there's 10 to 18 different times that you have found a Target and paid for items and then did not pay for items. and they all have you all in video and photos and all of that. So, right now we are here because you have we have PC3 arrests. >> Okay. >> So, so what does what do I like? Can you just kind of tell me what to do while we do this? >> Yeah. So, I'm telling you that right now and >> I don't want to embarrass you in front of your company. So, I'm trying to be nicer about it. >> Of course. >> Um but I would have to put you in handcuffs put in the back of my car >> to walk out. Can I walk to your car and then you put me in? >> Yeah, we can do that. >> Is that okay? >> Just long as long as you don't run away or anything like that. We have to I have to say it because we've had runners before. >> Oh, I'm sure. Of course. >> Um you'll go down to the jail to get fingered, booked, all that stuff. And then you can call and get a bond and then you could be released as early as tonight or tomorrow you have to see a judge within 24 hours. So, um that's what I know. Yeah. >> So, I can't call anybody now. I just have I'm not trying to do anything beyond this. >> And my kids I I do have kids. >> Yeah. I I did go to your house. Uh, your son's homesick with the flu. >> It's okay. I I did ask I didn't know if you were homeer. >> Yeah, you're fine. >> I He's middle school, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. He was middle school as I asked. >> How old is your youngest? >> Seven. And he's probably just getting to the club. >> Her confusion seemed fake as she appeared to already know why deputies were there. She smiled after learning the reason for her arrest and asked to be handcuffed out of sight of her co-workers. She was then allowed to call home about her children, but her reaction showed little shame over the alleged crime. >> Can I tell them? >> You can tell them anything you want. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Um, they said for theft at Target for selfch checkout. >> So, >> no, I'm not pranking you. >> That's a Sorry. No, you're Robert. >> It's probably not the norm. So, he probably he or she >> I just >> Okay. >> But because I they had gone to the house and Dave was there. So, I told them like Scarlet and Jameson are probably getting home from school right now. So, so they don't call DCF because the kids are home alone, not because we did anything wrong. Okay. He said he'll leave now. Oh, that's fine. >> Do you have anything here that you need to take out? >> Like a purse? >> Um, I just like my car. >> Should I leave them? >> I would leave. >> I don't I would have to go up with you and I will try and not >> No, I can leave my car here like tonight or till that. >> I just have to get a picture of you real quick. All right. So, one, two, three. I know. Kind of odd. Um, but yeah, leave your stuff here. So, >> my phone and stuff. >> Your phone can go with you. >> Okay. >> Yeah, it'll go with you. Um, so that way you can get phone numbers out and you can call who you need to um when you get to the jail. So, everything you have right now should be fine. You don't have a purse or anything like that? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Yeah. You get a new clothes. >> Yeah. And then you get different clothes. The woman was linked to 18 separate thefts at Target with the total loss reaching nearly $3,000. Under Florida law, that led to a grand theft charge, but she seemed more concerned with avoiding the eyes of her co-workers than the seriousness of the charge, remaining calm as deputies escorted her away. >> So, how long does somebody have to stay? Um, well, you can bond out as soon as the booking's done. Um, you can, which will just take a few hours once they get you booked and all the paperwork's done. It usually takes a few hours. >> So, as long as you have the funds to bond, you can bond out this this afternoon. >> Go home the same day. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. Like I could >> You don't have any priors, right? >> No. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Like I could go like to work tomorrow or people don't do things. >> As long as I don't >> you have to have the money to be able to bond, >> right? And then people can like kind of live in normal until thing. Okay. >> I can do all normal things. It's just right now is the >> this is the moment. >> This is the moment where we unfortunately moment. >> You've been really cooperative. I'm not going to handcuff you in the back. Handcuff you in the front. It's policy. I have to handcuff you. So >> whatever. I don't want to. >> Yes. So, I'll you sit down, I'll put a copy of you in the front and then I'll give you the jail and you literally just get booked process and you're going to get the opportunity to congressman or have your husband or something. >> Yep. And then he can work on that. And then >> how do you know how much it is? >> Um I it'll populate in mine, but they should tell you. >> Oh, they'll tell you. How do you know? >> All right. No weapons on you. >> The woman now began to worry about what she was facing, prompting the deputy to explain what would happen at this stage. So the problem I'll try and hold that that way the problem is is that you're okay. The problem is with that is that I can't give you an NTA a notice to appear because it's above a misdemeanor amount. So >> is it a felony? >> Yeah, that's the problem that I can't just take you um with a notice to appear for just to see the judge. So it would be like an arrest without arresting you and taking you to the jail. So the reason why it's different is because of the level that it's at. So, or I would be >> What is the level that it's at? >> Um, I'd have to look at the amount, but I know it's grand theft. >> What is that like? What's the What are the >> It's uh like just above $750. >> $750 is grand theft. >> Yeah. Sounds like a low amount for a big thing. I know. >> I wonder if I'm going to get fired if someone looks it up. I don't know your policy. >> Like, is it a felony? Like, a felony? >> No. No, no, no. I'm sorry. I just don't know. You're just getting arrested. That's it. You're not char you're not convicted. You are not The judge does not say you are guilty of everything that you did. You just what we have is probable cause with evidence that you committed the crime. But it is the judge that is the one that signs off on whether or not you are guilty. >> In the end, the woman was charged with grand theft. Her [snorts] cooperation during the arrest can preserve options later, but an arrest is not a conviction. [music] The case still has to go through the legal process where the evidence must ultimately support the charge. So, what happens next after this woman gives what seems like a believable excuse? >> So, I saw her take uh two meats. She put them in the bag and she had all their bags and so she shook at me or that. >> Sorry. So, I was on the phone and I didn't pay attention to that. That's exactly what happened. On the 6th of February 2024, police were called to the loss prevention office of a retail store after a reported theft involving about $33 worth of merchandise. More specifically, a woman had allegedly walked past checkout without paying for meat. But what exactly did the employee see? Let's hear her account. >> So, what's going on? >> So, um I was following her around. She had a bag that was hanging off the back of her car. >> Okay. >> So, I saw her take uh two meats. She put them in the bag and she had other bags in it. So she shook it, made sure that that covered it. >> One second. Then um then uh what's it called? Um then a few minutes later I was kept watching her and then she went back to the meat area, had a couple more selections, opened the bag so that it was hanging by one handle. >> Okay. >> And then put in another thing. >> Okay. And then she went to selfch checkout eventually paid for um whatever is downstairs and [music] these items stayed in the bag. I stopped her in the vestibial after she passed all points of purchase and everything. And um here we are. >> Okay. >> So So [clears throat] >> the woman sitting there calmly is the suspect we're talking about and it seems she already has an excuse ready. >> All right. to your advance. >> I didn't. >> This is your card. >> Have a chance to pay for how many things? I'm sorry. What's that? >> You told me that you that you said Oh, I didn't know >> you left the store. Remember? >> So, what what's your >> There is There is nothing. I said >> I was on the phone, >> right? >> Which I was >> talked to them. You're speaking, >> which I was cuz you saw me. >> So, Can you just flick it? >> Absolutely. Sorry. I'm sorry. So, I was on the phone and I didn't pay attention to that. That's exactly what happened. >> Okay. >> She seemed to consider it a mistake and thought she would be fine over such a small amount, but the store still decided to press charges perhaps because they believed her actions were intentional. >> Okay. I have acknowledging >> this is so do you understand what what they're saying >> that they don't want me to come back to any of the affiliated stores or store. Yeah. >> Okay. And then um >> so if you don't understand there you >> and I guess this is an incident you know I guess right >> stating that I stopped you. It's >> just as far as what's the 12384 right? Um yeah. >> Okay. >> You take off taxes 32. >> What's the total >> without taxes? Uh about 32, but I'm bad at that. >> All right. Send something to dispatch. You need my >> Oh, yes. So, your card and also believe I'm in a system, but my license. >> Yeah. Perfect. That works out. >> So, any address, it should be the store. >> Yeah. All right. >> You can keep that. >> I'll keep that. Perfect. >> Yeah. If you want to send the link or whatever it is. >> Yeah. Perfect. So, you're claiming that it's by mistake. >> I had like just grabbed three bags. It was Yes. >> Okay. >> I I mean, why didn't At this point, the officer decided to arrest her and she didn't seem surprised at all. She clearly knew what was happening. >> All right, man. Do Do you have anything in your pockets? >> What do you have to do? >> Do you have anything in your pockets? >> Um, so what is going to happen? Is this your >> I don't have this is what I have. Sorry, that was my earpod. >> That's my case. Put it on here. >> Okay. What What's going to happen? You're being placed under arrest shop. You're going to get process. You're going to be in a court date and then you're going to be uh released for the offense. [music] Arrested. >> This is what I'm going to get arrested on. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Have you ever been arrested for? >> Yes, unfortunately. Just keep that all there. All right. >> And then do you have anything else on you? >> No, I don't. Okay. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. Right. >> Great. So, where am I? >> I'm sorry. What's your >> Where's your ID? >> She doesn't have it on her. >> Okay. >> All right. No problem. Turn around. Place your hands behind your back. Okay. where the >> it's charged with shoplifting. Even a small theft can still lead to serious consequences when the evidence suggests the act was intentional. Treating it as a simple mistake does not erase the responsibility that comes with taking something without paying. Next, a traffic stop led police to uncover a treasure trove from a shoplifter. >> GET ON THE GROUND. DO IT NOW. WATCH. CROSSFIRE. CROSSFIRE. You're good. You're good. On the 19th of May, 2023, what seemed like a routine patrol suddenly took a turn when officers spotted a familiar vehicle linked to a theft case. They immediately ordered the driver to pull over, but she had no intention of stopping, forcing officers into a pursuit. >> Driver's got some felony warrants for shoplifting. Speeds are 40 passing Johnson Drive. They're not evading. They're obeying traffic laws. This match has been >> for speeds are still 45. Oanol traffic ball is passing living hope church. >> Just put their right blinker on right here before Dollar General. >> No. Pull over now. Pull over now. >> Might be coming to a stop. Dispatch has been haunted. Pull over. Do it now. Put the car in park. >> 60. Stay in your car. >> Her decision to keep driving may have been driven by fear of what she had done. And only after officers blocked her path did she finally stop. But that was only the beginning of what would become a much more tense encounter. >> HANDS OUT THE WINDOW. >> GET ON THE GROUND. DO IT [screaming] NOW. WATCH. CROSSFIRE. CROSSFIRE. You're good. You're good. >> On the ground. >> On the ground. >> Get on your knees, ma'am. Get on your knees. 7 to 95. >> You might need to adjust our cuffs. One of them's kind of tight. >> Anything on you just going to put me stick me? >> No. >> Any weapons or anything like that? Why don't you pull over? >> Because I was going home. >> It's not cuz you got warrants. >> I was going home. You had plenty of opportunities to pull over. >> I was going home. >> And also saw you driving pretty fast on the loop cuz you knew I was behind you. >> I'll let you know in a second. What's in the car? >> I didn't mean to put you in a bad spot like that, bud. >> Hey, Morgan, hold that truck for a sec. At this point, officers called Walmart's loss prevention representative to inform the suspect of the store's decision regarding her theft case, but she didn't seem to care at all. >> Hey, can you hear me, James? >> I'm going to put you on the speaker. I'm here with tell you who you are and where she's barred for two years. So, this is a guy from Walmart loss prevention. He's going to tell you you're barred from the Walmart on Lexington Road for two years. Go ahead and tell her, James. >> Hi, Bar from Lexington Road. That's our Walmart location. for two years. You're no longer allowed in the parking lot or anything attached to the parking lot. That includes Rainbow and everything up to GameStop and the Wing Burger Factory. >> You understand? You're barred from there for two years. >> All right. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> With gold earrings, gold bracelets, and thick false eyelashes, it was hard to believe she was stealing out of desperation. But what officers found while searching her car began to reveal a possible reason behind her thefts. >> I'm pretty sure all of us are stealing. I just signed two felony horns on her yesterday. >> All I stole them. >> Oh, it probably is. Yeah. Um, that's all she does is steal. See if I can figure out where it came from. >> Probably get TJ Maxx. Is there Do you know of anything specific that she took? >> Well, at Walmart, just food and fishing poles. It's not in here, but this is probably from Academy today. >> Yeah, that's Academy. Let me call my uh >> let me call my contacted academy. >> I don't know, man. So, the thing that was weird is that when I spun around on her, she freaking bolted it on the loop. >> They got trash bags. They're just going in and filling up bags. >> What are those pills up there? Did y'all see those pills? >> I saw pills that were outside the original container. The one that's in the yellow >> in the container. But what are they? >> She said she's going home. I got to figure out where home was. >> They found some pills. >> Hey, you said you were going home. Where's home? >> Okay. >> Well, I mean, >> you don't need to ask me no question. Just >> that's fine. I was just curious. with items from multiple stores. She showed little concern about being caught, suggesting she may have been stealing goods to resell them. Even in the car, she showed no sign of remorse. >> Where? >> No, sorry, different person. Uh, no, I did not go to your son's house. >> How do you know my car? >> I've been looking for you all day. >> For what? >> For your warrant. You got shoplifting warrants. >> What? >> You have shoplifting warrants. >> For what? >> I don't know. I just know you got them. Plus, your uh your rims are very unique. And you have that little dent on the side of your car. >> No, I know that. But I took my son said a officer came to his house, >> but I don't know what for. >> I don't know. I don't even know who your son is or where he lives. >> What? I thought they normally send the sheriff for you. >> I pulled you over. I didn't go to your house. >> What' you pull me over for? >> For your warrants. I told you. >> In the end, she was charged with two counts of felony shoplifting, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, and obstruction of officers. Repeated theft can quickly become more serious when someone continues to ignore the consequences of their actions. This case shows that even when a suspect appears unfazed, outstanding warrants and new charges can still lead to serious consequences. So, what happens when this hungry thief decides to take a sandwich? >> Okay. >> He specifically like was getting irritated with me. I started texting 911 that he was here. >> Yep. >> And then >> did he grab >> He grabbed a sandwich. >> You didn't pay for the food, right? >> Okay. But I was going to go tomorrow and pay for it. Like it wasn't. >> On the 12th of January, 2023, a man walked into a Subway and ordered a sandwich. But after eating, he quickly left without paying, prompting the employee to call the police. They immediately provided officers with a description of him. >> Where'd he go? >> Right there. So, he has a black hoodie on with his hat backwards. It's and it has yellow writing in the shape of a circle. He has like gray pants on and black Van shoes. He specifically like was getting irritated with me. I started texting 911. >> Did he grab >> He grabbed a sandwich from a like I have the surveillance camera and everything that he stole his food. He like reached over the counter and grabbed the food. >> From the employees tone, it was clear how angry she was. And the suspect seemed to know it, too, as he kept complaining about her when officers approached him. >> What's going on, bud? Take your hands out your pocket. Stand over. >> Nothing, bro. >> Stand over there. Quit arguing with me. >> Bro, this is disrespectful. She's being disrespectful, bro. >> That lady That lady was being disrespectful, sir. Okay, that's fine. We'll figure out what's going on. >> I can pay for it. Like, that don't mean nothing. Like, I don't It's nothing. But that lady was being disrespectful towards me. >> And that's fine. That's fine. Okay, >> we'll figure that out in just a second. >> But I could pay. I had the money. It's just Okay, look. All right. Can I explain to you? >> Relax. Relax. >> Hold on. Hold on. You can explain in just a second. >> All right. Hey, we got one in the best. >> Okay. >> Let's have You he sit down on the chair? >> Yeah, that's fine. Hold on. Hold on. I'm not going nowhere. I'm at work. Like I was at work. I was at my job. >> Okay. >> Like the I had a I've been having problems with that girl with >> Sat right here on the chair on the stair thing. That way he's not. >> All right, man. So you didn't you didn't pay for the food, right? >> Okay. But I was going to go tomorrow and pay for it. Like it wasn't it wasn't like it wasn't like I was going to steal it. I had the money and I know the manager. I've spoken to the manager before. >> Okay. And >> and I had the money. I could pay for it. But I was I was going to tell the manager like I had problems and I was going to go to the manager the next day and tell her. >> All right. All right. Give me one second. Let me just read. Okay. Just let me read this and then you can tell me whatever you want and I'll hear we'll figure it out from there. Okay. >> The man then explained his actions, but his story became harder to believe as he kept talking, especially when it went against his claim that he would pay for the sandwich the next day. >> Okay. I I haven't ate since 8:00 in the morning. >> Okay. I have been busy doing a car wash all day. >> Previous to that, I had a discussion with this lady that I had I had um I had I had an altercation with her because she was taking her time taking my sandwich. >> Okay. >> And I'm like, "Okay, lady." She hit me. She we we we discussed it. The next day, I talked to her boss. I came in the next day, grabbed the sandwich. Fine. Okay. Bomb. Ever since then, she had a personal vendetta against me. Like, she wants to she wants to irritate me. And I the only two places that I go is McDonald's and Subway to eat >> because they're right there. >> They're right there. So today I go in there. It's four o'clock. I haven't ate. She she making my she's she first of all I go in there. I waited for so long. I'm only have a 30-minute break. So I'm getting irritated, sir. And I'm like 15 minutes 15 minutes passed by and she's like, "Oh, it's not my problem." So she's giving me an attitude straight off the bat. So I So I thought, "Okay, whatever." I let it go. I let it pass then. And then she she makes my sandwich. She turns on the oven. >> Uhhuh. >> She burns the sandwich. >> Okay. >> She burns the sandwich. And then like cuz she she runs off somewhere in the back again. And I'm like, "Lady." So I when she comes back, I told her I was like, "Listen, I only have a 30 minute break." And I feel like we already had this discussion already where you understand that I just want my food and pay for it and get out of here. >> Back at the store, the employee also provided valuable evidence of his actions. >> No, he just grabbed the bag. Then I'll show you the video here. Can you send us a comment? Can I do my reply, too? >> Um, is that a video that you can like send through email? >> I can screenshot it. I can like screenshot it on my phone and send it through email. >> What about the video form? Yeah, you have to do more editing to get that cut that video. >> Like I can show it to you right now. Hold on. It's 4:30. >> Anything I've done is Let me go to my car and get my driver's license. But I have it and I trimmed it. I can show it to you right now cuz I just sent it to the general manager. >> Okay. >> Um he's right there and you'll see in one second that he like reaches over the counter. >> There you go. He steals it and runs out. I can send that to you or send it to whoever. >> Yeah, if you send it to maybe one of our emails or something. And then we'll see maybe if I can just get a picture of him in the >> If you noticed, the man was arrested at the car wash where he worked, right next to the subway where the incident happened. He had returned there afterward. And as he explained his side of the story, his employer also stepped in to defend him. >> I know you're the owner. >> Yeah. >> But can you just >> Yeah, but I know that there is history between the lady and him. >> I understand that. But that's what I'm asking. >> If he if he if he took something without permission and without paying for it, >> she's a liar. >> Okay. He's already admitted that he didn't pay for the eye. >> Well, then that's his problem. >> I agree with you. We're going to let him talk to Did Did Did Did the manager want to talk to him or did you want to talk to him if he Cuz I don't know if he's going to Johnny Poke yet, but if he is, did did you want to talk to him or did the manager want to talk to him because the manager said he wanted to talk to him before he left or did you want to talk to I just want to make sure we get the right person to talk to him. I guess he's probably just letting him know he still has a job or doesn't have a job. I don't know. But he was also told to leave over there cuz he was causing a problem. >> Yeah, but she's only speaking to him. I have gone there. >> I have gone there >> to buy a sandwich for myself. >> She has stopped me to tell him to not go back there. That's not my problem. That's her problem. >> I got that. >> That's number one. The fact that she wants to involve my business is the formation of character towards him. He she had to deal with him when he's there. >> Well, the thing was he left there and came over here. That's why we came over >> because he works here and she knows he works here. >> I understand it payment. >> But she go there also to provoke her. >> No, I don't. >> Better than she is. You don't know better than she is. >> Here's the thing, ma'am. >> She said, >> "How old are you?" >> You're 30. >> You're grown. >> Clearly, the 30-year-old man would have to face the consequences of his actions. But at this point, his employer still believed there was something he could do to change the outcome. >> I guarantee you he's not going to. I told him, I said, "Don't go there. You don't have money, you tell me. I give you money. You go buy your lunch somewhere else." >> I mean, >> he looked for this. I don't know you that well. >> Well, his his his marbles are not all there obviously. >> And and and I was just trying to tell him. He didn't want to hear it, but I don't know you that well, but it seems that your passion, you care for him enough to give him maybe a little bit longer than 30 minutes to go get food if he really needed it. Number one. And number two, you already told him not to go over there, >> which is a decision he decided to make after number one, he wasn't allowed back over there, and you told him anyway. his marbles are not there. >> So he made a decision. >> McDonald's is right there that he could have walked to. So >> he made a grown decision to do what he did. And I mean I understand you 100%. >> And with the >> his attitude has got to change >> completely. He uh he wanted the vape and the cigarettes to go with her since we were okay with that. >> Um I mean >> I want to let him have a phone call, but he he only has Wi-Fi. >> I mean I can't he can He'll get his He get some calls down. I don't know if he's trying to call the manager. >> He said his girlfriend. His girlfriend. >> Yeah, his girlfriend. >> The 30-year-old man was charged with petite theft and trespass. And weeks later, prosecutors added additional counts linking him to thefts at a second subway. The cases remained pending. Sometimes trying to justify one bad decision only creates more problems, especially when the evidence in your own statements tell a different story. In this case, refusing to walk away from a dispute ultimately turned a sandwich into multiple criminal charges. What do you think about cases like this? We got two reports from both of the restaurants saying that you did not pay. I have you on camera. >> We didn't steal anything. >> Food. If you don't pay for your food. On the 26th of May 2025, deputies received multiple reports from restaurants across Monroe County about two suspects, 24-year-old Dana Eimenco and 32-year-old Roman Romanoff, who allegedly left without paying after dining. Their unpaid bills totaled nearly $400 at one restaurant and at least $250 at another. Officers then began gathering details about what had happened by interviewing the restaurant staff. >> I mean, they had been coming in and out all night, right? And they would both come out and they would smoke and they would go back in and they would both come out and smoke and go back in and then they ordered dessert and they would both go to the bathroom. So them both getting up at the same time wasn't abnormal because they've been doing it all night. Then they ordered dessert and he came back, she walked out, he came back and sat down and then he left and then they were never to be seen again. >> So after they ordered dessert, that's when they just kept going back and forth. >> No, they went back throughout the whole >> Then after they got dessert, that's when they both >> He walked out. He came back from the bathroom, sat down for about 30 seconds, and then jumped out as well. Well, there's loads of it. If you can give me the tab. >> Yeah, I'll go get it right now. >> Yeah. >> Do they give any s any type of name? >> Uh, no. They were a walk-in right when we opened at 5:00. Um, cuz normally we are primarily, as you can see, we're primarily reservation only. We have most of the people, we have their name and phone number, but when they're a walk-in like that, we don't take their information. We just need them. KCNA72 G's Monday. >> So those are two bottles. >> Yep. >> Florentine. >> I asked her an appetizer. >> Appetizers, but they had two bottles of wine. >> Okay. All right. So, next question. Would you like to press charges? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> I went down to the brewery and I let I said, "Please let me know if this ratchet ass couple comes in here." She's got a white shirt on that says 1994 across the back and they just look like they out of the gutter. >> Okay. >> Um, but that's the only place that I can go. >> Okay, that's fine. I'll just do my investigation. I'll just go around a mile >> trying to see if they do pop up. >> Later that evening, a patrol deputy stopped a blue Volkswagen for a tail light violation. Coincidentally, the occupants turned out to be the same suspects connected to the alleged dine and dash incidents. Here's what happened next. >> I'm fine, thank you. >> Hi. Good. How are you? >> I'm better, man. Thank you. 613 code for Can I have your driver's license, registration, check for the 86 mile marker? >> Thank you. Is that her driver's license? Do you have the renters's agreement for it? >> Yeah. Your tail light's partially out back there. >> Oh, yeah. It's okay. It happens. >> All right. Give me one second. Okay. 613 6119. That's an A from >> 100%. Go look at them. Gee, almost ran me over. Do you mind stepping out of the car for me, sir? I just want to talk to you real quick. All right, we're going to go right back there. Officers asked the driver to step out of the vehicle to ensure he couldn't suddenly drive off. Then separated him from his girlfriend for an individual interview. >> Do anything today? >> Just in. >> Okay. >> Each have some >> sunburn. >> Yeah. >> Do you have breakfast today? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Where'd you go? >> Uh, so we had breakfast. We stopped for like a hunt. >> Okay. >> At the 24/7 bakery. >> Okay. >> I think and then we went to the restaurant, I think. >> Okay. What was it called? Do you remember? >> No. Do you remember where it was? >> Somewhere here. >> Okay. So, maybe Marker 88. Sound familiar? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I think we stop at Marker 88. >> Okay. All right. Um, what did you have at marker 88 to eat? I don't remember some fish and some dogs. >> Okay. And she ate too as well. >> I think so. Yeah. >> Together. Makes sense. >> Yeah. Okay. And at any point in time did you fail to pay for your tab? >> Uh, no. Not really. >> Okay. So, you paid for your your tab? >> I think so. Yeah. >> Okay. Did you pay cash? >> Yeah. You paid >> I think we left cash. Yeah. >> You left cash? >> Okay. Or did you pay with a card? >> No, I think we paid cash. >> Okay. Cash. Which one of you paid? >> I paid cash. >> You paid cash? >> Yeah, I left cash. >> Okay. How much was your tab? Do you remember? >> Roughly 200 200 something. >> 20 or 40. >> 240 220 something. >> Okay. And you pay cash? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> He insisted that he had paid at both restaurants, but took a long time trying to remember how much he had supposedly paid. The amount he eventually gave wasn't even enough to cover the bill at one of the restaurants, prompting the deputies to directly accuse him of lying. >> I'm not going to lie to you. >> You did not pay for either of those. Okay. We know that you did not, >> sir. We know that you did not. We got two reports from both of the restaurants saying that you did not pay. I have you on camera with that shirt on at marker 88. >> So So what? I left the cash. >> Okay. You did not pay, sir. You did not. >> You did not pay for your tab. That's why they called us. They don't call us for no reason. >> No, I understand, but >> Okay. >> I left cash and we left. >> Okay. Well, I'm letting you know. Go ahead. >> Like my sergeant said. Okay. How about the second restaurant? >> Which one? Sorry, just confusing me. >> Okay. She said it. She was talking about the lunch spot. Mhm. >> All right. Then she asked you about dinner. You said you paid cash at both. >> Yep. >> All right. We know you didn't pay at that one. And we know you didn't pay at that one. Let me ask you just just just to confirm. How do you know that? Have you been there? >> Yes, we actually have the receipts and everything from both places. >> We got camera footage at both places. >> So, it if it was a mistake, that's fine. And we can talk to them and we can explain that. >> No, no, I don't want to. >> Okay. No, no, that's fine. >> I just want like paid and then like just randomly like someone pull me over and saying that I'm not I didn't pay. >> Okay. You didn't pay either of those. I can tell by your standing in front of me like I'm just very naked almost. Yeah. I'm >> You're wearing clothes. Moments later, the female passenger was questioned separately. She was asked many of the same questions, but her answers appeared even more vague and inconsistent than the drivers. >> Okay. Did you pay for your meal before you left at both restaurants? >> I don't know. >> You don't know? Okay. You either did or you didn't. You can't leave the restaurant until you pay. That's kind of >> I have a husband. >> Okay. Well, I pay for my own meals. >> No, I'm not. Never. >> No, you didn't pay. >> No, never. >> Okay. Did you see your husband pay? No. >> No, you didn't see him pay. >> Like my mom called me and we're I just there. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, you didn't see him pay at either the restaurant? I not looking at this? Never. >> Okay. How does he normally pay for things? With his credit card? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. With his card. >> Okay. Every time. >> Like for my card or his card every time. >> Does he carry like a large sum of cash on him ever? >> Ever? >> Never. >> No. Ever. >> Okay. Wow. >> Every time. Every time is card. >> Every time it's card. >> Every every time card and cash. >> Card and cash. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> You said you every time. >> Yes. Card or cash? >> Sometimes like once once like sometimes. >> Okay. So, you know, you both didn't pay. >> Really? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, you both didn't pay and the restaurants both called to let us know that. Okay. >> Okay. though. And what I was trying to explain to your husband is if he was being honest with me, >> I have a card. I can like >> hear me out. >> If he was being honest with me, I can help you guys and hopefully talk to the restaurant. Okay. >> Please. >> Could I do that? >> Yeah. >> Okay. But I need him to be honest with me so that we can take care of it and I can speak to the restaurant. >> Okay. Okay. The woman's statements exposed more flaws in the man's story, deepening suspicions that he was lying. Sensing that, he then blamed arguments with his girlfriend and even suggested a restaurant employee might have taken the cash. >> If you would pay like >> Yeah, I hear you. >> 200 bucks. >> Yeah. Yeah. Maybe they said you shorted it just because of that reason >> and the waiter took it and >> now they're upset. I understand. Might be the case. I hear might be the case >> cuz I haven't seen the the actual build at the end. If you guys could stand here for me. just stand here for me >> cuz we've done we've been arguing like twice >> and twice I had to leave like emergency like like right now. >> Is that is that accurate? You guys have been arguing. >> I left some cash. I'll be honest with you. My was not enough. Mine. >> Okay. >> But you have to understand me too. Like I'm okay to pay but I really feel bad to pay twice even like >> with something that you already paid for. >> I'm okay to send the money right now. Like it's not an issue. Okay. >> The issue that someone telling you you didn't pay at all. >> It's it's up to the restaurant. It's up to the victim on what they want to do. Okay. >> But you didn't steal anything. >> Food. If you don't pay for your food, >> you understand in basic world. Yes, I understand. But you you might it's same thing. >> It's not like it's proven. At that point, officers received confirmation from the restaurants that there was 100% no cash or card left on either table. With that, they made their decision. >> All right, so you guys are going to jail today. Go ahead and put your hands behind your back. >> Okay, keep your hands here. Okay, >> 470. >> You guys cannot leave a restaurant and not pay for your tab. Whatever. Whatever you want to tell a judge or an attorney, whatever the case, you guys can do that. Okay, let's go this way. 6103 myself and 611 is going to have one. All right. >> Okay, we'll check it for you. Okay, let me just take this off of you. Put this here. Okay. Do you have anything on you that's going to stick me, poke me, anything like that? Okay. Okay. All right. You're going to lean against the car for me. Just right there. Tell me if it's too hot. All right. Just making sure you don't have nothing here. Okay. Okay. Okay. And you don't have anything in your shirt. Lean forward like that. And >> take a seat. There's nothing in there. Watch your head. Okay. >> All right. Let me grab your phone. Okay. >> The couple were both charged with one count of swindle to defraud an operator of food or lodging. Dining and leaving without paying is treated as fraud, not a simple misunderstanding. When surveillance, witness [music] statements, and inconsistent explanations all point to the same conclusion, denying responsibility only strengthens the case against you. >> You know, and everything I will not. You know this. >> You know, >> on the 8th of April 2024, police were dispatched to a liquor store after receiving reports of a disorderly woman causing a disturbance. She was reportedly intoxicated and refused to leave the property. Here's what happened next. >> Honestly, I I don't feel comfortable until I'm told I can put my arms on. >> Put your arms on. >> Are you sure? >> Yeah. What are you doing? >> I want to test. >> We'll be in there in a second, man. What are you doing? >> He was doing a lot of drugs. >> Other people were doing that things. >> Who? >> And him and other people. >> Okay. I've been trying to save my my fellow employees. >> Do you work here at the Jiffy Mart? >> I work at the um at uh Beesbats. >> Okay. So, what's going on outside the store? >> This was a chase to the store. >> Call somebody to come pick you up. >> What? You're >> Huh? >> Someone cuz you guys are my family. >> No, we're not. Call someone. Do you have a phone? Okay. >> Where's your phone at? a phone >> if I had one. >> The woman's unstable condition became immediately apparent. Even moments later, she began rapidly shifting between emotions, speaking in a confused and disorganized manner. >> Never mind. I don't I just hope my dog's okay. >> Can I at least call for my dog? >> Can I Can I please call for my dog? Are you okay? >> Yeah. Where's your phone at? Check your pockets. Do you have a phone? >> Do you have a phone in your pockets? >> You know, DJ. >> Yeah. You don't >> Who can come pick you up? >> I want answers to the people that want to pick you up. >> What are you even saying? Who can come pick you up? I'm trying to get you to somewhere safe. No, you're not. >> Do you have a >> Do you have anyone that can come help you? >> Didn't want you or him to answer. >> Believe me, we don't want to be here any more than you don't want us to be here. >> So, who called you to >> come pick you up? >> So, who denied him to come? >> You have a phone in your pocket. >> Are you celebrating the eclipse? The solar eclipse today? It's a big deal. You guys deciding this because I'm a wicked. >> Huh? No. No. There's an eclipse today. >> I don't care. >> We're not mind readers. We don't know that. >> No. I I hate that this is the biggest day that y'all had the worst. >> All we want to do is get you home or get you to somewhere safe. >> Well, >> I don't care. It doesn't matter to me. >> Do you have somebody to come pick you up? >> No answer. >> She paid no attention to the officer's repeated suggestions to call a family member or someone she knew to pick her up. Instead, [music] the officers changed their approach, encouraging her to stand up and leave the area so she would no longer disturb the liquor store. >> Let's practice walking. Can you stand up and walk this way? See how you >> I got hit by a motorcycle the other day. Can I at least get a step to stand up? >> Sure. >> I don't care how. Like, can I get a step to stand up? >> Do you need me to help you up or you >> I don't want them to laugh. >> It's not about you. You remember where the bed the bed is. >> Walk that way. >> How? >> Just walk straight. >> Put one foot in front of the other. I >> just want to see you walk. You don't have to do anything special. >> So, where can we get you to? Can we give you a courtesy ride somewhere? It's safe. >> Uh, I'm sorry. So I mean y'all want to try this? >> You want to sit back down? I want you to fall over. >> Why? So I can calm down. >> No, I want you to sit down so you don't fall over. Not calm down. >> It was clear that she could barely stand and it certainly wasn't safe for her to leave on her own. Despite that, she tried to walk away anyway, forcing the officers to [music] stop her. What happened next quickly descended into chaos. >> You need to relax. You need to stay still. But what was even more striking was that her anger seemed directed entirely at the officers, as though she resented them simply for showing up. >> That's not nice. Neither were you narrow >> cuz y'all are >> and hey you and don't agree with us. No, I see you. >> I see you. >> I know you agree with this. >> What are you doing? >> You What are you doing? >> What are you doing? >> What are you doing agreeing with these [ __ ] >> You didn't kill your daughter. >> My trunk. >> Why are you fighting this? >> Oh no. >> No. You know you hate you hate doing this. >> I'm going to get off your legs. YOUR GIRLS HATE YOU. YOUR GIRLS HATE YOU BECAUSE YOU KNOW THIS IS WRONG BECAUSE I'M going to be raped. She repeatedly hurled insults at the officers and even targeted their family members despite them having nothing to do with the situation. And it didn't stop there. She continued provoking the officers even after being placed inside the patrol car. >> You know, you know, and everything I will not. You know this. YOU KNOW. >> SO WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO DO YOUR JOB TO FIGHT US? WE ARE YOUR FAMILY, YOU PIECE OF [ __ ] I'm sorry. Your job pays for your family more. Yet she showed no awareness of how serious the situation had become. >> No, you [laughter] laugh at >> pull her chest on. >> That's where this >> That's where you do it. >> I wonder what daddy's going to say after mom can stay in the grave. >> Yeah. When what's going to stay in the grave? Daddy. >> Yeah. Daddy. >> What's today's date? Cuz you let me know what it is. >> What year is it? >> You rolled your eyes over the answer. Who had that on camera? >> All of them. >> Do you want to go to the hospital? >> Why? >> Well, they're saying you're not acting correctly. So, we just want to make sure that you don't need medical attention. >> I have to ask you questions. >> Grace rider. Mying answer. >> All right. So, once we get her in here, me and you'll pick her up. >> Oh, yeah. I will love when my porn star rookies get that on [ __ ] camera. know I I I do get this on camera. >> Okay. >> Where do you live at? >> You also know us. >> I'm a fireman. I don't know where you live. >> Too bad you suck at your job. >> She was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer or firefighter and resisting an officer with violence. Losing control of your emotions and responding with violence toward law enforcement will only escalate the situation and lead to far more serious [music] criminal charges. Staying calm and cooperating is always the better path. Even during a stressful encounter, >> I I really wasn't stealing. I could pay for it. Like I can I I cannot steal it when at all. Like my >> On the 29th of July 2023, officers stopped a vehicle traveling on the road after suspecting it was involved in a shoplifting incident at Walmart. As they approached, they also discovered an issue with the vehicle's license plate. Okay, please both of you guys put your hands on top of the steering wheel. Um, so I when I run the plate of your truck, it doesn't come back to a Chevy. >> It should. It's a I bought this car off car. We pulled over a couple times. So Oh, >> yeah. Let me just get all verified. We also got a call that you guys were over at Walmart a little bit ago. >> Yeah. >> Okay. We got a call that you guys had stolen. So >> I did the scanning thing. you know, scanning everything in my cart and and I paid up the register. >> Okay. Yeah. A citizen called it in. So, let me um and then sir, can you keep your other hand on top of the front for me? >> Um so, let me just verify one story. Okay. >> I'll just wait till my other people get here. >> Okay. I mean, would you like to get my registration? >> Uh first, go ahead and take the keys out of the car for me. Thank you. And we'll just hang tight for a minute once my partner gets here. I'll uh double check your VIN so that we can verify it's the right car and get your plate verified cuz when I ran Yeah. When I ran the plate, it came back to like a four instead of a shadow. So four. >> Yeah. Yeah. So we'll just get that verified amount. But my partner's coming out now. So >> like can I hand you Marcy? Uh just just let me get someone else here and then I can >> and then sir, would you be okay? Can you open your door for me again? >> They're right there, sir. >> The officer then brought up the shoplifting incident at Walmart. The woman immediately showed her receipt, but her story soon began to raise suspicions. >> So you guys purchased everything on here, and do you know why someone would call in theft without you? >> I mean, because Well, I was doing the scanning though. So, you scan the items and then you put them in the bag and then you go to the kiosk and you scan the kiosk. >> So, you don't scan at the register at all. >> Oh, >> you scan while you're going through the store. So, it's a scan. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. The guy at the uh the >> Yeah. When we were walking out, the guy at the checkout guy, he's marked us and everything's looked at our cart and everything. So, yeah. So, yeah, that's what it was. I mean, it looks odd because we're putting things in a in a bag. >> Uhhuh. while we're going through the store, but we're scanning as we go. And can I grab a phone here to show you? >> I'll just let you wait one minute and then once we get it verified, we'll get >> I know it's so you Melissa. >> Uh what? >> Yes. Yeah, that's a nonext. >> You need me to call the store? No, those are the right place. >> Oh, I think you said 888. There's a zero on it. I don't know at the end. >> Oh, yeah. That's what I said. It must have been wrong. Anyways, yeah. Could you call store, please? >> What do you need to do? >> Um, just to see if they had a theft. She said she bought at the kiosk and it's a citizen that reported. So, >> okay. >> She claims she had paid for the items using Walmart's scan and go feature. To verify her story, the officers asked her to explain how the system worked. >> Here, you go to scan and go, you have to be in the store for it to actually work. They start shopping and then you just scan the barcode and then it creates your list >> and then when like >> and then do you go to check out? >> Yeah. And then you go to check out and which I did and you scan the kiosk at the checkout and then you walk out the door >> and then um >> Yeah, it does. It makes everything super fast. >> Yeah, >> I purchased three >> everything that was on my receipt. So >> So strange. It might have just been a person that saw you do that. Yeah, >> she just has to call the store really quick and just verify and then all >> Okay. Yeah. So that Yeah, that's basically that's all we did was just scan everything and >> I gave your driver's license, right? >> I don't want to steal. >> That's okay. But you have to pay for the service though. It's not free service. >> Oh. >> So like when you go on there, >> is it worth it? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Cuz you don't have to >> cuz you don't have to stand there and wait and scan. Like while you're picking your item, you scan with your phone, you put in your cart, and then as you go and then it tells you how much your total is at the end >> and then you just go a little kiosk and go boop. >> Yeah. And then you're out. >> Okay, that's good to know. >> Yeah, >> cuz I could see how someone could be like, "They just went out." Although you had your receipt with you, but they're like, "They just skipped the line." >> Yeah. No, exactly. And the guy looked in our car and and and marked us and everything. >> Yeah. While one officer was learning about the scanand go feature from the woman, the [music] other officers received different information from Walmart over the radio, prompting them to verify the situation more carefully. So, not everything that they purchased was So, they purchased things, but they didn't scan everything. And so, can you show me your receipt one more time? There's your receipt. >> Yeah. So, those lights in the back, they are not >> Oh, they're not. Like I said, sometimes they have light and it just doesn't go all the way through. >> Okay. So, >> I mean, >> so for now, I'm just going to ask you to step out of the car and then we're going to call the store. So, for now, I'm just going to step out of the car for me and then please wait for me. We're just going to >> Hey, I need you to call my friend. >> I I really wasn't stealing. >> Yeah, let me just contact the store first. Okay. >> Am I allowed to do that? Call her. >> Not right. Yeah. Okay. >> Were you with with her during the checkout? >> Yes. I'm not just walking around the store. I know this music. >> All right. Well, again, you could be an accomplice or be involved in the theft. So, I'm going to let my partner kind of play it out. Again, right now, you're not free to go. Again, you're being detained underneath reasonable articulable suspicion. >> So, you're not free to go. You're not in handcuffs right now cuz you're cooperating with me. If you fail to cooperate with you, handcuffs will come on to show you that you're detained. >> Okay. Can I please call my son? Like he's at home. Like >> how old is your son? >> My son's 12. Like I said, I'm on my way home to my kid. Like I wasn't planning on stealing. >> Let's just step over here and then I'm just a baby right now while I get everything figured out, right? >> With the woman temporarily placed in handcuffs. She became visibly worried and panicked. As they escorted her to the patrol car, the officers tried to explain what was happening. So, they're saying they were watching you the entire time and they saw you select certain items and not all that stuff, the pool stuff and everything in the back >> you didn't pay for and it's on your receipt. >> Yeah, but I scanned every I selected items, of course. But I scanned every single thing that I put in my cart >> and they said, "No, this cuz the stuff in the back you didn't pick the stuff." >> I I was telling you I I scanned everything. I don't know what happened. They can look at their camera footage. I put that on my children. Like I wasn't planning on stealing anything. I literally scanned everything on there and I to to pay. >> Okay. >> And I don't know why it didn't go through. I mean, I can go pay. I I will go back there. We could pay for it. Like I I quit. >> So at this at this moment, you're going to be under arrest for theft. I'm going to call the store and see if they would like to pursue charges for the theft. And if they'd like to pursue charges, then we can go from there. Right. So, um, do I have your permission that the pool noodles and the stuff you didn't pay for, do you have your permission to take that and give it back to the store? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Would you What items did you not pay for? >> Can I Can I go? >> Yeah. >> Hey, could we I don't want to take her on this side. Could we maybe have him sit over there? >> Can he take my car or can he like >> If you'd like him to, he can take your car. As for the man in the passenger seat, the officers determined that he was not involved in the incident. So, they explained the situation to him. >> Appreciate your cooperation. So, as of right now, you are no longer detained. You are free to go. Okay. If you wish to stay here to try to coordinate the truck, that's fine. >> Yeah. >> But I need you to kind of go further up >> away from us and away from this. >> Okay. >> So, in that one? Yeah. The the that No, that is a safe way. about all this stuff. >> So, all that should have been scanned in. >> So, it's not scanned. So, it's stuff that was taken. >> But if it's not on there, like I said, all they have to do look at the footage. Like I was planning on just Yes, that >> all these. >> That's No, I I paid for all that. >> I think I don't know. I'd have to look on the thing. >> This to my knowledge. I thought I paid for all of it. So, if that's not on the thing, >> they just want you to be honest. The store is pretty good. >> No, I I I am like I say, I I wasn't planning on stealing anything. I swear I scanned everything and I thought it all went through on the on on the on the scan and go. Like they can if they check her footage like I was not trying to steal a thing. >> Yeah. >> The woman was charged with theft. Shoplifting often depends on evidence, not intentions. If a payment issue occurs, the surveillance footage and transaction records will ultimately determine whether it was an honest mistake or a criminal act. My >> thing is, why? That ain't how you cooperate. You want respect, right? >> Where? >> With my money. >> Okay. Where's your money? >> On the 11th of November 2024, officers were dispatched to an airport after receiving a report that a woman stole another passenger's phone and wallet from a TSA security checkpoint bin. [music] As soon as they arrived, airport staff provided surveillance footage that clearly captured the theft. >> Passenger on video taking a wallet and phone out of a bin. She's saying she doesn't have it at all, asking her what she did with it. Is it this person? >> Yes. Yes, sir. And then she >> and it's going to end up being in that bin. >> So that's the bin. >> Yeah. When he gets the bag out of there, you'll see it gets more a little more clear. >> Did she go to a restroom anywhere? >> Trying to find out that >> the officers approached the suspect shortly afterward, but she appeared to know exactly what was happening and immediately began denying everything. >> Hi, >> I'm Deputy Hartum with the sheriff's office. So, I just looked at some video and it's pretty good evidence that you took this guy's cell phone. Where's the cell phone? >> Okay. Where is it? >> Cuz I don't have a cell phone. >> Where is Where is it? >> Where's the one that you took out of that bin that I just saw on the camera? >> Are you not going to answer me or >> lane? It might be as far north. >> What do you want me to say? >> What? What do you want me to say? You got you're on camera. You're on camera taking a phone out of a bin and now you say you don't have it. Where is it? >> Do you have any Do you have ID on you? >> Yeah. This guy your mama. >> Would you >> Do you have this lady's ID? Anyone? >> She has her ID. >> He took my information already. >> Oh, no. Okay. >> She's like, "What are you yelling at me for?" >> I'm Well, I'm I'm just trying to figure out where's this guy's Where's this person's property? Well, my thing is why are you yelling at me? That ain't how you corrupt, right? You want respect, right? So, if I start yelling at you, just because you have sheriff on you, you mean you do have a sense of >> I'm sorry. I'm a little bit hard at hearing and that's not really yelling. I'm just trying to make it. >> When when someone in this situation goes through all this stuff and then they say they don't have something, it's a little frustrating. So, I raise my voice up another octave and I apologize. Where's this guy's phone? >> The officers kept the situation under control, preventing the suspect from using the deputy's tone as a distraction from the investigation. That approach paid off as she eventually admitted she had been involved with the missing property. >> When I walked away from the phone, I put the I gave the phone to the whatever that lady is and what I can't tell you. I don't even know this airport like that to tell you where it's at. That's why I said I can't tell you. >> So, who did you give the phone to? >> It's in a a convenience store or something like that. What I'm going to do with his iPhone? I have a iPhone, too. What I'm going to do with his phone? >> There's a wallet in the phone. >> All of that stuff is in one of them. My thing. I don't have that many. >> Click up all your stuff. You're going to go down to the jail then. >> A jail? >> Yeah. >> I'm going to jail for what? >> You just said you took the phone out of the bin. You just said you took it. You gave it to somebody else. >> It's in a convenient. I was I got >> Did you not take it away out of the bin and give it to somebody in the convenience store? >> Don't you supposed to do that when you find somebody's [ __ ] >> Well, okay. When you find somebody's stuff, not when you take it out of a bin and when you're going through TSA, just pick your stuff up. Just pick your stuff up. >> Are you traveling with her? >> Go P. I'm going to go >> Is there any other video of this? >> I'm sure the wick can bring up some more, but cuz she said she put it in the store. >> They're looking where they she went. They're checking up. Based on the suspect's statements, officers quickly recovered the missing belongings and returned them to their owner. However, it soon became clear that there was still one problem. >> Where'd you find that? >> Behind 42 counter. >> That's the wallet. >> Yeah. >> For the phone case >> behind How did you find >> 42? I'm dumped behind the counter. Video her doing it. >> Oh, you're David. >> I'm David. >> So, is this your wallet? >> That is my wallet. That's my ID. >> Was there any money in here? There was about 180 bucks. >> Where was the money >> in the money clip? >> All right, we're going to go downstairs for the >> Do you want She need to be handcuffed, do you think? Or she walk or >> I don't think she's cooperative. If uh if you found something else on the video, >> you want to handcuff? You think I'm not going to walk with you? Like, why would >> Can you ask? Okay, it's a it's >> The victim reported that $180 in cash was missing, leading officers to suspect the woman had taken it and hidden the evidence. After bringing her to the airport security office, they pressured her to admit where the money was. >> Right now, we got the phone. The phone was at a store like probably you said. Now, we're looking for this cash that this gentleman says he's missing. So, right now So, right now, this is very simple. I mean, this is the difference between getting a little mun municipal ticket and walking out the door or going down to jail and having a post cash bail for a misdemeanor. you find it with your cooperation, the money is what I I'm talking about. Then we could go a easier route. He's the the the lead law enforcement uh officer on this case, but he just told you what he's going to do. Municipal ticket. So, will you cooperating uh help us find that money or yes or no? >> Well, I'm going to keep it. >> Okay. So, if you have the money, just or you know where it is, provide it to us. >> Okay. Where is it? >> I have it. >> Where? >> Where my money? >> Okay. Where's your money? >> In my chest. >> Okay. Uh I'm going to bring in a female officer and you're going to uh put it on the counter and uh you you know how much money you had and you know how much money he had. Separate the two. [music] It it should equal up to the money that he's missing without me telling you that number. and then we can go ahead right to you have it on you right now. >> Yes. >> Uh you >> the woman admitted stealing the cash without the slightest remorse. She even tried to justify her actions with an excuse that was difficult to believe. >> What were you going to do with the uh the money? You just going to spend it like they bought or something like that? Why did you want to uh steal from this guy? >> It wasn't uh intentionally stealing. Like I said, when I grabbed it from the beginning, it was a a legitimate mistake. So, I I put the phone down. >> I believe that. I believe it was a legitimate mistake. >> And so, and when I seen that, I didn't even realize I had a wallet cuz I like I said, I had a bl and all that. So, when I seen that, I did testimony like in order to be >> You didn't intend to keep the phone because you you told us where it was. So, I I believe that too. Ironically, what she claimed was an unintentional mistake ultimately led to her being charged with theft. Everyone can make a mistake, but choosing not to correct it is a different decision. [music] Taking responsibility early often prevents a bad situation from becoming a criminal one. Honesty after a mistake is what separates poor judgment from intentional wrongdoing.
