Let me show you. I'm going to sit the bag down and show you. >> Yeah. Okay. I'm not going in there. >> Why are you saying I get me and I'm pregnant? Look at him grabbing me. Get off of me. >> I don't have to answer your questions. Actually, >> okay. You're also not free to leave at this time. >> All right. from claiming that their civil rights had been violated or staging a dramatic chase. Those shameless shoplifterss did that only to escape after attempting to take an entire shopping cart of goods. What was their outcome? Everything will be in today's video. Woman thinks she can casually leave Walmart with an entire cart full. We are This is Law. Don't forget to like and subscribe. Beginning with a woman who believes she had the right to confront the police. >> Yeah, I'm not doing that. >> Okay, I'm not going in there. Stop. >> Why are you trying to detain me? And I'm not >> against one woman and I'm trying to figure out what went in my bag that y'all claimed that went in my bag. >> On January 15th, 2025, officers stopped a woman in the parking lot of Kohl's on suspicion that she was involved in a shoplifting incident that had just occurred there. What followed was far from simple. Here's what happened next. >> Hey hun, can you come here for a second? Uh there's there may be some confusion and some issues inside. >> What happened? >> Do you have anything in your bag? You should not. >> No, I just returned some stuff. >> Okay. Can you step over here with us? >> Why? >> There. >> Here. Let me Okay, let me go over here cuz I'm going to let you see. >> Well, we're not going to get in the car. >> I'm not getting in the car. I'm going to let you see that there's nothing in there >> in your bag. >> Yeah. >> Okay. You're not getting in. >> I'm not getting in. >> You're not getting in the car. >> You're fighting me. Let me show you. >> I'm not fighting you. Okay, I'm going to show you. I'm going to show you what's in my bag >> right now. >> Okay, can I show you? Yes or no? Okay, scags, let me show you. I'm going to set the bag down and show you. >> Yeah, okay. I'm not going in there. >> Why are you trying to detain me? And I'm not. There's nothing in my bag. I am. >> Okay. Although she repeatedly insisted her bag contained nothing, she obstructed the investigation into it, which only deepened suspicion and led officers to immediately place her in handcuffs. >> You don't. I'm not. Resist it. Don't put me in handcuffs. Why are you trying to take my bag? >> I'm taking BANGUPS SO YOU CAN PUT YOUR HAND. >> NO. Why am I going handcuff? >> No, I don't. Let me go. >> Put your hand too much right now. I said you can look at my bag. Okay. We're trying to be nice from your store. >> We're trying to be nice. I don't want to stop. >> Right. So, let me go. >> Put your hands behind your back. Nothing. >> I'm not going to continue. >> Yes. No. I'm going to I'm going to cooperate. Can I please turn around? >> No. >> Oh my god. >> You're going to be putting hands? No. >> I'm black. Yes, it is. >> No, it isn't. Ma'am, what what's kind of easy to do? >> Will you let me poke like do anybody else? >> Why are you resisting? You're trying to >> ma'am. This is resisting. >> No, I'm not. Look to my rent. I'M TRYING TO GET YOU CONTROL. >> I'm trying to get you control, huh? >> Nothing that belongs to your store. >> You're saying, is there anything in your bag? Everything I have, I came in with. >> Jeez, you made that harder than >> No, I don't. Yes, you did. >> Because I wouldn't have did this if I was white. >> What are you talking about? It >> has nothing TO DO WITH WELL, COME SHOW ME. LET ME GO. >> YOU HAVE A RECEIPT FOR THE >> NO, I I I came in to do my return. Her denial and ongoing non-ooperation ultimately led to a charge of resisting arrest. Yet, she showed no signs of stopping, becoming even more erratic right at the patrol car door. >> Did so I could go face to face with whatever that they called you for. >> Well, HAVE A SEAT. >> NO. YES, IT DO. >> HAVE A SEAT. >> THEY SAYING THAT I PUT in my bag. That's what you said, right? This is on camera. >> Then you said it and I told you I came in here with it, right? >> Ma'am, WE HAVE AN INTERVIEW. NOBODY INSIDE YET. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT TO THEM? >> JUST COOPERATE. >> I AM. Take me back in the store. NO, YOU'RE NOT GAGS. YES, I AM. Can you take me back in there >> once we GET DONE WITH EVERYTHING? Take back >> going to take me back in there for a few minutes. HAVE A SEAT. >> CAN YOU TAKE ME BACK? You keep saying. >> No, I'm not listening because he sat here. I'm telling him I'm pregnant. Look how you doing me. >> WHAT? ARRESTING YOU. >> NO. And I'm pregnant. >> Okay. You're the one that was resisting, not us. when >> you WEREN'T COOPERATING WITH US >> without resistance. No, I didn't. You came along. I said, "I'LL COOPERATE WITH YOU." YES, I DID. Y'ALL TWO AGAINST ONE. Come on. The police do this all the time. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WE'RE IN THE BACK SEAT. >> Have a seat. >> In the back seat. >> The woman used her pregnancy as a reason to resist. And she didn't stop there. She went on to challenge the officers, acting as if they were violating her rights. >> It's all recorded, >> right? So, get me a a sergeant out here. >> WE WILL. >> NOW, LIKE NOW. NO, I DON'T. THAT'S my bag. And you saying, "Let me search your bag." I came in with that bag. I went to the damn customer service desk, right? And then I asked the girl in Sephora. So what the belongs to them in that bag? >> If this was not that big of a deal, why are you putting up such a fight? >> BECAUSE I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY DID THEY >> Why are you putting UP SUCH A FIGHT? >> BECAUSE I have my rights, too. >> You're right. And >> what's my right? >> You lost your right when you started. >> No, I didn't. I didn't. You lost your right when you tried TO GET IN THE CAR. I DID NOT LOST THAT RIGHT. DID NOT GET IN THE CAR. YOU LET ME WALK TO MY CAR AND SAID I'll show you. You said okay. >> That's what you said on camera. Why you got your jacket covering it up? >> It's not covered up. >> Okay. >> Mine's not coming. >> I tell you what. Where are you going? >> I get a sergeant. >> Yeah, they're coming. They're coming. >> No, they're right there. >> No, that's not THE SERGEANT. >> NO. WHO is it then? >> This other officer. >> Can y'all please take over? >> I KNOW Y'ALL ALL WORK TOGETHER, BUT THEY MY RIGHTS HAVE BEEN VIOLATED. I CAME in with that bag and he going to tell me that they called you. >> Yes, please, Smith. I don't want to I want to talk to you. Please, can you relax? >> I am. Can you tell him to let me go? >> You should have seen how he get me and I'm pregnant. Look at him grabbing me. Get off of me. >> It was clear the woman had failed in her attempt to be released. So, she continued to play the victim in order to delay getting into the car. >> Can I please? No. I'm pregnant. He already just slammed me and did all this. I mean, >> I didn't slam you, but >> No, he did. Can you call >> if you're pregnant? Then do your baby, RIGHT? HAVE >> CAN YOU call for a medical assistance? >> Yeah. >> Can I get a sergeant? >> Yeah, you'll get a sergeant. >> How long? >> I don't know. Sit in THE CAR, PLEASE. >> WHY DO I HAVE TO SIT IN THE CAR IF I'm not going nowhere? Why can't I go in the store? >> I'm not saying it, but look at y'all. It's four men against one woman. And I'm trying to figure out what went in my bag that y'all claimed that went in my bag. >> Well, I didn't claim anything. >> He didn't claim anything. >> YES, HE DID. When he came up on the scene, HE SAID, "OH, MA'AM, JUST tell us. Do you have anything that belongs to that store? Everything I have there, I came IN WITH." RIGHT. SO, WHO called the police and said that I had something in my bag? >> I'M GUESSING STORE. >> RIGHT. WHY? BECAUSE I'M AFRICANAME. >> I don't know. We don't play that game. LET'S NOT GO THERE, >> MAN. I'M THE ONLY >> I'm the only one that that came out that store that's getting the police called on. Are you kidding me right now? Cuz I can prove. Okay. If you give me a point to prove to YOU THAT I'M NOT lying >> for me to put this in your car. >> No. CAN YOU GIVE ME A point to prove to you yes or no? >> Just Yes or No, IT'S NOT. WHAT'S ON CAMERA? >> ALL OF IT. >> ME PUTTING STUFF IN MY BAG. >> YOU WALKED OUT THE STORE WITHOUT >> NO, I DIDN'T. OH MY GOD. ARE YOU KIDDING me right now? >> That was my sc. >> It seemed that returning to the shoplifting accusation made her increasingly angry. And of course, beyond her denial, she acted as if she had the authority to confront the officers themselves. >> And I was in there two minutes. >> That's what cameras. >> TWO MINUTES AND I STOLE SOME. >> And your chance to prove it in court. >> 2 minutes and I stole some. So, how did I steal something that quick? >> You don't want to listen to anything we say, so it doesn't matter. I'm sure he's lying. We're >> He is lying. He is lying. Listen to >> Okay, I'm done talking. Can you move my hair out of my mouth, please? >> He just said because you're pregnant. >> Yeah. No, I didn't say cuz I was pregnant. Cuz he did it. Are you a sergeant? Sergeant, >> step out of the car, please. >> All right, turn around for his car. It's going to be a little uncomfortable at first. I'm going to put this one on you. >> So, where am I going? >> The county >> to the jail. >> They are you are saying >> and then what? I can't go in court or nothing today. It's over with. The time is over. >> Well, I don't know. There's nothing we can do about this. You got to go. I know this as far as but I would have >> you got to sit down and I'll and I'll have them walk away after you sit. >> Okay. >> That red stripe in there, that strap in there, that's your seat belt. Okay. Hang on to it. All right. >> Okay. Hold on. I'll tell >> I never even unstructed you. >> What's this? >> Huh? That's That's my my cousin thing. That's the one I use when I do a video visit to the county cuz I can't go in a penal institution. So I can't >> if you're lying about your name again. >> That's not my name. I never told you. >> What's your What is What is your >> that ID? >> What is your last name? >> Okay. I just literally if you look it up. >> Okay. Give me a minute. >> Yeah. I I still think that's right. >> Ultimately, the woman was charged with retail theft and resisting arrest. Dishonesty and refusal to cooperate only make a situation worse, turning suspicion into solid charges and eliminating any chance of resolving things calmly. Next, police uncovered an entire organized theft operation behind the incidents. >> Turn around. Face that way. Face that way. Face that way. Walk backwards slowly. On September 10th, 2024, police conducted an investigation into multiple theft incidents, but what stood out was that all of them were tied to a single organized professional theft group. At that moment, a security employee provided a statement regarding the case. In >> 2024, I was notified by you in reference to subjects that were um being uh reported uh thefts of and what and other type of like items at the beginning of the year and then uh through uh notification of dates, times, potential locations, I was able to review video, cooperate everything and then actually document numerous thefts. >> Okay. And uh about how many thefts? >> Uh about 10. >> Okay. Okay. >> Known >> no theft. Okay. And um uh you provided me uh video of of these incidents and um uh can you attest that these uh the video that you provided was an accurate depiction of of each of the incidents and was it uh uh not modified in any way? >> No, it was not modified and yes, it is a correct depiction. >> Okay. All right. Thank you. Um so we'll uh we'll just go ahead and start. Um you want to u go through and and uh give me a synopsis of each incident? >> Yep. Absolutely. I'm just going to pull up my my list here so that way I have it. So the first uh notification that we essentially got reference to the thefts at CVS was on 317 at approximately 1852 hours at the address of SE 7534 Lakeworth Road. Um it reference to a blackmail that uh had taken approximately uh without payment. Uh, next one was on March 24th, 2024 at approximately 1617 hours. CVS located at 3187 South Congress Avenue in Palm Springs, uh, blackmail again entered in and removed without payment. And then on 327 2024 at approximately 1630 hours, uh, CVS located at 245 South Military Trail in West Palm Beach. uh two subjects entered into the location. >> It was evident that the group's criminal activity had spanned across multiple areas in various stores with all parties having representatives come forward to testify and provide additional statements. >> Back on March 1st, 2024, uh there were two suspects, two black male suspects that came in and stole about 10 items. Um all of these incidents are incidents that I had uh reviewed um on CCTV. and once again provided to Detective Apple for purposes of the investigation. >> Okay, fantastic. Um, on behalf [clears throat] of Walgreens, uh would uh would you like to prosecute for uh all these incidents? >> Absolutely. >> Okay, thank you. This is Detective Apple ID number 24109. Today is October 1st, 2024. Current time is 1324 1329 hours. And uh Mr. Barrett, can you just uh give me a a brief uh synopsis of your position uh and what company you're with and approximately how long you've been in in your role? >> Sure. Uh I am employed by Public Supermarkets, Inc. [music] Um I've been employed with uh Publix since um 2018. >> Okay. All right. Thank you. And um uh so this is going to be referenced most multiple case numbers and uh you have provided me with with video reference to these these multiple incidents. Can you swear attest that the video that you've provided to me is uh a true and accurate depiction of the incident and that it has not been altered in any way? >> To the best of my knowledge, yes. >> Okay. >> It was brought to my attention uh through through uh you sir uh Detective Apple about a group that was um uh targeting stores which include Publix and um essentially they were coming into the store and what we call is doing a straight. Following the investigations, the suspects were identified as Ariel, Laquentin, and Eddie, aged between 29 and 33, who took numerous high-value items, including laundry products, fragrances, and designer clothing. On December 31st, the suspect's residence was located and the approach was carried out. >> Good morning, >> Sheriff's Office. How are you? >> Good. I need to talk to Eddie. >> Eddie? >> Yes. Your son? Go get him, please. >> Go get Eddie, >> man. >> Go get him. >> Go get him now. >> Me? >> Yes. You go get Eddie right now. Go get Eddie right now. Look in all the bathrooms. Pull up all the sheets. Go get him right now. Marlin, she's just walking around confused. Just keep holding. Get Eddie right now. I just saw you talking to him. Get Eddie right now. Have him come out of the house. He has a warrant for his arrest. Go get him. His mother, Ed, Annie, go get him right now. Or else I'm going to put a dog in this house and he's going to get bit. Do you understand? >> No. I >> Good. Come here. You come here. You come here now. Come. Come. Come here. >> Eddie, I'll let you do all that, brother. All right. Come out. We're going to put you in cuffs. All right. And I'll let you write all your phone numbers down. >> All right. Come to me right now. Eddie. Eddie, face away from us and walk backward. >> Pencil and I'll let you >> drop the pencil. I'm going to let you take all that. >> Drop all that, dude. >> Turn around. Face that way. Face that way. Face that way. Walk backwards slowly. >> This encounter came as a surprise to both the suspects and their family members. So, the police also provided an explanation to their relatives. >> Once you're in our custody, we're good. You could call her from the jail. Any other phone numbers you she'll be able to tell you. Okay. You understand? >> Okay. Ma'am, look at me. He's got an arrest warrant. Okay. He's got to go to the Palm Beach County Jail. He's got a pretty hefty bond. All right. It's almost $200,000. >> 200 >> 200,000. Okay. $20,000 to get him out. >> I'll fix him at the car. Okay. Immediately after the suspect was taken to the police station and more disappointingly he still failed to recognize the seriousness of his situation. Uh I'm here to talk to you about the reason why you were just now arrested. >> Okay. >> So would you like to talk to me about that? >> Yeah. Well, >> okay. Um so first of all, do you understand your charges? >> No. >> Do you understand your charges? Do you understand what you've been charged with? >> No. >> Okay. So, here's a copy of of your warranty. All right. And on here, your first charge is conspiracy to commit racketeering. The next charge is organized retail theft. Then there's a charge of grand theft. And there's a charge of unlawful use of two-way communication device. >> Okay. Um, did you know that you had a warrant out for your arrest prior to today? >> Yes. >> Do you know who else was arrested as part of your case? >> Yeah. >> What are their names? >> Yeah. >> Who? >> Ariel. Okay. How do you know Ariel? >> Through a friend. >> Through a friend. >> Yeah. >> How long have you known Ariel? >> I don't know what >> I don't understand. >> Oh, okay. Months, years. >> As time went on, it became clear that his crimes were spoken of without any sign of remorse. And even his reason for stealing was entirely blamew worthy. >> Is there a reason why the two of you did what you've done? I really I have addiction as well. >> I don't understand you. >> I say I have addiction. >> You have an addiction? >> Yeah. >> You have a drug problem? >> Yeah. >> What kind of drugs? [clears throat] >> Uh I get some drugs here and I was sitting in my back. >> So if I'm understanding correctly, you you have an addiction and I is that what you're saying? Yes. >> And um it's no secret that this is all shot cases. You understand that? So, were you shoplifting to to to get money for your addiction? >> Okay. Okay. This is July 20. Is that you in that picture? >> No. >> Did you say yes? >> I just want to make sure you Yes. Okay. So, I know that's a few months back. When you say you stopped, is that is that near the end of of when you stopped? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, you've been charged with several things here. Okay. The first one is conspiracy to commit racketeering. Racketeering. Racketeering covers a lot more than just just your individual shoplifting cases. So, so as part of that, that's why we've included incidents that >> the suspect was charged with conspiracy to commit racketeering, organized retail theft, grand theft, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. When someone chose to justify their crimes instead of taking responsibility, they only pushed themselves deeper into consequences that could have been avoided. Next, the woman even acted flippantly with her own wrongdoing. >> I don't have to answer that question. Okay. You're also not free to leave at this time. >> I don't want to. >> That's That's fine. >> Talk to me. >> On the 10th of April 2025, police received a disturbance report from a Walmart store. The suspect was believed to be a woman who along with her companion had been throwing items onto the floor. This was what unfolded when officers arrived at the scene. >> You were trespassing. Oh god. Who trespassed? Who trespassed? And >> then you were throwing some items around. Were you guys throwing anything? >> Were you Were you throwing anything? >> I was playing around. You >> playing around? >> I'm the only one in the trespass. >> Do you have your ID? >> If I'm trespassing, you know who I am. >> Okay. So, that's not how this works. You're either going to identify yourself or you're under arrest. >> I don't have ID. >> Okay. Name and date of birth. Okay. um music. >> What's your first name? >> C A N D I N. >> D I E I >> E. >> What's your last name? >> What's your date of birth? Okay. Deal. >> The suspect reacted with clear frustration upon the officer's arrival. As questioning continued, she became increasingly uncooperative and resistant to answering further questions. >> I don't have to answer the question. >> Okay. You're also not free to leave at this time. >> I don't want to. >> That's That's fine. Talk to me outside. >> Nope. You're not free to leave. Okay, you're going to stand right here. >> Wait, why is she not free to leave? Cuz >> we're investigating a crime at the moment. >> What? Incorrect information supposed to say I'm detained that you don't know how to speak. So crime. >> Well, you already know you're detained. So, you're not free to leave. >> They don't know how to speak. Sounds stupid as hell. >> Okay. >> I know. I'm just going with her. talking to him. >> Apparently Clearly, the suspect showed little concern about the situation, repeatedly following her companion and moving out of the officer's line of sight, forcing them to issue a warning. >> You guys, >> you two are good. She's detained at the moment. I got a receipt for everything in this car. I got you. Yeah, you you two are free to go. >> So, >> she's currently detained at the moment. We're investigating it currently. Cuz last time I was here, I didn't know who I was here and this lady started searching at me all day. >> That was like 4 months ago. >> Yeah, they were there. >> Did you know you were trespassed or no? >> Yes, I knew. I didn't I didn't think it was like for a long period of time. >> They didn't tell you like >> did you post? >> What? I'm sorry. >> No, I didn't. That was for something else. >> Um, >> did you get the incident you're referring to? I wasn't there. >> This is like 4 months ago. They know. >> Did you get arrested for that? >> No. No, I didn't. >> Okay. >> So, normally at this point in time, you guys will write me a second in time to go to court. >> You're talking about right now? >> Yeah. >> We might do that. We're trying to get the story straight from who called us. So, >> the woman appeared to disregard even her own trespass warning. Her companions also seem to support her behavior, beginning to suggest unreasonable explanations and excuses for the suspect's actions. >> Let her go. We don't know. We didn't know. >> Well, she was advised the last time >> someone right now. Oh, that's the lady. >> But no, we can't just let her go at the moment. >> Can I go outside and smoke? >> No, >> just hold off. Just just hold off for a minute. Okay. >> Go ahead. All you guys were throwing your drunk. So that's why >> we literally picked it up. We weren't even >> I know you know you >> well. Yeah, he's got it. >> Despite her flippant attitude, she eventually admitted to all of her actions. As a result, the officers quickly made the decision to place her under arrest. >> All right, we got you. >> Trespassing and disorderly conduct. We got to look at your uh >> We got to look at your history. >> Okay. Do you have anything on you that I need to know about that's going to poke me, hurt me? >> No, I have my phone and my vape and my brush. It's a >> phone. Okay. >> We're going to walk you out to the car. All right. >> Yeah. >> Well, can I get their number >> this way? >> Can I get one of their numbers? >> Yes. >> You don't have their phone? Are you Do you have it in your phone? >> No. >> You don't have their phone numbers in your phone? >> Number. >> Okay. >> Second car over there. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> 96 so much right now. >> The woman was charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct. The woman's actions show a disregard for rules and authority as she continued engaging in disruptive behavior even after being warned ultimately leading to her arrest. Next, the woman believed she could lie her way past the officers. >> I you know somebody send you a check if you have it. I don't have nowhere to go. I >> understand. So what was going to happen? On August 14th, 2024, police approached a woman after receiving reports of a fraud taking place at a bank. And at that moment, she appeared confused and even evasive about what was happening. >> How you doing? >> How you doing? >> Hey, [clears throat] you have your ID with you by chance? >> Yeah. >> What's going on? I don't know cuz I got in the cuz I don't know what going to happen but >> it I hope I ain't going >> right here. Okay, we're going to figure that out. What are you doing here today? >> No, it got the a check got mailed to me and I did come here and deposit in my account. >> Okay, you got account here. You just mail it and deposit. Okay. Okay. [laughter] >> I got you have your ID with you? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> The woman insisted there was no issue, but it seemed the store employees had a different story. first before $85 cuz the person was in there office. >> He sent me a text saying he know he sent me a text saying. >> Yeah. So they called on this one. So this one cleared in June. >> This one they could get a confirmation and then they couldn't verify. >> How did he get your number to send me >> was on the phone was only interested in zel money transfer kind of stuff. >> So he called you sent you a text and >> Yeah. He said like he can give me money, you know, stuff like that. I sent a fail for it. He said he can he said he can help me out. >> What What's your address that I sent the text? It was uh >> see the thing about this the address they sent me on board that I had been over there >> because the mail the mail at 806 goes to the post office. Some of it does >> who where you borrow from the post that 806. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Mailbox number. >> No, it ain't no mail. It's general delivery 30603. >> Okay. I don't know where >> that that downtown by Hancock. All details about the address, origin, and sender were unclear, which made the officers increasingly suspicious. As they began questioning her more closely, it was also revealed that her connection to the company listed on the check was not clear at all. >> No, I don't want service. You going to get those checks if you work for tempur. So why would Vince be sending you those type of checks? I don't know. But you don't take me in jail. I haven't >> trying to figure out what's going on cuz I've worked for Express before and those are the checks that you get. You only get those if you work there. People don't get >> I don't know what's going on cuz I I >> I don't know if you don't have either one of them that he send them to you. >> No, cuz the thing about it was cuz I threw them away cuz I'm thinking like, oh, oh, this a check. I you know, >> why would somebody send you a check if you haven't come send you a check? >> I don't know. He said he said he going to help me out. >> Oh my goodness. >> I didn't know. I don't know. >> Look at the back. >> He called me. He was like uh uh >> he was like >> he like he said like I can help you and stuff like that. And I think >> like if they can help me get help. >> At this point the officers noticed the backpack the suspect was carrying on her back. The situation became more serious based on what they found. Yes. Hey, can we see your bag? Do you have any more check with you? >> No, I don't. You got some envelopes sticking out the front. Can we see what those are? >> You talking about these? >> Yeah. Here. >> This? >> Mhm. >> No, this social security. This one social security. >> No more envelopes. >> No, no more envelopes. Social security. >> No more mail that you got out of general. >> No, this from social security. Look, I don't know. I don't want to go to jail. We don't. I didn't know. >> We need you to be truthful at this point. >> No, cuz I'm telling you cuz he he told he told me he could help me with money and I I'm home. >> Somebody going to help you. They're going to send you a personal check. >> Look though, look though, I'm homeless. I don't have nowhere to go. I stay in I stay in tent. >> You understand? So, what was going to happen after you deposited the checks? >> What was going to happen after you deposited the checks? >> I don't know. Cuz they ain't re they say the plea here. They a >> but you came in here expecting to be able to deposit them. Correct. >> Cuz I want to get me an apartment. Okay. I didn't want to get me an apartment. >> What were you going to use money for? >> Yeah, for my apartment. >> So he was sending you free money. >> He said he could help me. >> Okay. He didn't expect any money in return. >> No, he ain't got nothing in return. >> This story sounded unbelievable. No one would easily give a homeless person a large amount of money with no benefit in return. And she did not even know the man's name. Shortly after she changed her statement. >> Yeah. So you were to deposit his checks and then go buy gift cards and then send him part of the gift card money. >> No, he gave me he he told me do what he told me. He told me once I check he going to give me some money so I get my apartment. >> Okay. >> So you going to deposit those in your new account? >> Yeah. >> And then get a gift card? >> No. I was going. He told He come in >> because he been cuz today this second time I've been over here. >> Just slow down a little bit cuz you spitting it all over. >> This second time I've been over here. This the second time I been over here cuz he told me to pause the check and he said he going to give me he going to deposit. He said like a loan company. He going to depos. >> You give him your account number, your new account. You gave him that information. >> No, I had gave him that information. I had gave it to him. I ain't gave it to her. >> Did you try to cash a check yesterday when you open the account? >> No. You didn't try to cash a check yesterday? >> Yes, I >> You just came and open account. >> Yeah, I just came open account and then like I had I had some I had some cash with me. I I open with $50. >> So, this is not the first transaction you and Vince have had. >> Yeah. >> I did multiple transactions. But like >> her resolve began to weaken under the weight of her own contradictions. She started making desperate pleas though she had not acknowledged any wrongdoing. >> Look, I don't know what to Please don't take me to jail. Please do not take me to jail. I don't want to go through this. I'm trying to stay out of trouble for real. I don't want to be in trouble. >> I do not want to go to jail. I've been I've been locked up a bunch. It been years since I've been locked up. I'm trying to tame my situation. I'm trying to borrow. You still got it with you? >> Yeah. >> Let's see that. So she been getting gift cards sitting at the hand. She get a fraction of it. She told me the cops were here. He told her to bring >> Yeah. >> Today >> just now when we just walked up. >> See, I bought this one off the depot. He had to cashing any of these other checks. >> I mean at Bank of America. Okay. Get this. I had a count with Bank of America, right? >> He sent He sent some uh he sent me some check, right? M >> the T got returned. All of them did. They hold my hair down. >> So this is my question. Have y'all ever met in person? >> No, you haven't met in person. >> So let's paint this picture. Okay. We're going to paint a picture and you tell me how it sound. If you texting somebody you don't know, you never met in person in a text message. You asking him to send you $7,000, $2,000. Do you think that's illegal money being transferred back and forth between y'all? If you've never met this person, don't know his last name. >> By this point, the woman realized that her attempts to lie would not change anything. She remained visibly tense as the officers made their decision. >> Let me read you this real quick. Okay. >> Do you understand? >> Yeah. Where? What have I done? No. What have I DONE? I DIDN'T KNOW. >> LISTEN. >> NO. What have I done? You tell me that. >> Listen to me. Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to us now? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> That's it. >> What have I done? >> So that's what we're trying to figure out. Exactly. But >> look, I ain't got no money. I >> That's not true because you have transaction history at Target. >> I know that because they just confirmed it. So >> No, the money he PUT IN MY ACCOUNT ON THE CARD. He put money on my card. >> Where did you go to Target for? >> To get the gift cards. >> Okay. So >> he put the money in my account. >> Okay. So >> he got he put the money in my account and got I got the gift card. I I ain't got no money. >> You get a gift cards with THAT $493. >> NO, NOT WITH THAT. >> With other money that he sent you, >> I sign the thing. He got my He got my banking information from here. He got my bank information and then he told me he going to put he put the money in my account and then he told me to go to Target and get the gift card into this new account. >> YEAH, HE PUT MONEY in there cuz I didn't have your account. >> I don't know how he got it. I don't know how he got it. But that's the only way you can get it is if you give it to him. You know that >> anybody back still. >> Ultimately, she was charged with check fraud and taken into [music] custody. That desperation can make people vulnerable to scams, especially when promises of easy money come from unknown sources. It is important to verify any financial offer and avoid sharing banking information or handling checks from strangers, no matter how convincing the story sounds. Even worse, let's move to this man. >> Don't [ __ ] Hey, don't stop. >> No, I need to know. Take a seat. >> Stop because you're a [ __ ] retail. >> On the 4th of January 2025, police approached a man after suspecting him of being involved in a theft that had occurred at Walmart. This was what happened next. >> DUDE. HEY, STOP. STOP. YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE ME run after you. I got two more guys coming on that side. Don't run. Don't run. Stop. Stop. What do you want to do? Don't [ __ ] Hey, don't. Hey, stop. What are you doing? Step it up, guys. Step it up. I got him. He's resisting. Listen. Put your hands behind your back. Put your hands behind your back. It was clear that he made no effort to defend himself when he was arrested as he seemed to understand exactly what was happening. At that moment, he ignored every question from the police. >> You got ID on you? >> I do. >> What's that? Do you have ID on you? Are you from around here? >> You from Roundville Park? >> You got an ID on you? >> What you mean? >> Like identification. >> All right. >> Let me see your face. >> You don't look familiar. You're not from around here, huh? >> What are you talking about? I just got teased out for no reason. >> Right. >> And I apologize for that. I apologize. cuz I stopped you for no reason. But I'm going to go ahead and clear that out. Okay. >> Soon as I clear that out, you can go home. There you go. >> What's your first name? What can I call you? >> Oh, sure. That's you. >> What's with that? Is that what yours was? >> My >> He seemed to accept what was happening. But just minutes later, when it was determined that he would be taken in instead of being released, his attitude changed. >> First name. >> First name, sir. >> My last name is French. My first name is Sonia. What's your first name? >> 325. You got a badge number, too. >> You don't play this game? >> What? >> What's your first name, sir? >> I know this is >> Listen, man. We could do it the easy way or we could do it this way. You let me know what you want to do. I'm trying to help you out, bro. >> What is this for? What you doing? >> Okay. >> You tell me about why you're doing it. >> Absolutely. I'm going to tell you everything. Hop in my car. We're going to have a nice combo for a little bit. >> Take a seat. >> No. I need to know. Take a seat. >> You need to stop because you're possibly a suspect in a retail. >> Sit down. >> Yes, sir. You are not. >> Did you find you on me? >> I'm sorry, sir. If I stole some [ __ ] what would you search everything I had? >> Sir, do you really think? >> It's possible. >> Okay. Okay. Get in the car. We'll figure it out. >> Check your feet now. >> Come on. >> We just found out for sure. That's true. >> Right. >> Well, I will commit the car. >> You guys got to do, right? Going to make sure before you take someone in. >> Yes, absolutely. Cuz I don't want to lose my job. I want to make sure I get the right guy. >> So, what's a step mean? >> So, right now, you know what we're doing right now? We're going to have you sit right here and we're going to bring the guy who actually saw you steal the [ __ ] and they're going to come over here and see if it's you or not. Okay? And if it's not you, guess what? Bye. Home, too. But if it you go back with me. >> What did I steal? >> I'm going to find that out right now. You tried to steal a TV, but you didn't get away with it. And then you stole a soundbar and you tossed it over. >> You tried to do what? >> Yeah. I don't know if it's you yet. That's what we're trying to find out. All right. >> The man believed that since he didn't successfully take anything out, his wrongdoing would be erased. And under that delusion, he continued to create difficulties for the police. >> No, because doesn't make sense. >> None of that made sense. >> No. >> Okay. You're under arrest right now for retail theft. So, take a seat in my car. >> What arrest you? >> You're under arrest right now for retail theft. Just sit in my car. >> We'll discuss that later. We're not discussing this outside at 10° right now. Okay. >> Take a seat. Take a seat, sir. >> What? What is retail theft, though? I need to know. >> Take a seat. >> Take a seat. Let's go. >> Take your feet in. Take your feet all the way up in there. Watch your arm, man. All right. >> He was ultimately charged with retail theft. Even staying silent and pretending nothing happened can still expose guilt because avoiding responsibility only makes the consequences worse. Even worse, the man turned his theft into a reckless escape that resulted in an accident. panic attack and the asthma attack you feel for like >> how are you? >> 45. >> On the 22nd of July 2025, police were dispatched to the store after receiving a report of theft committed by an employee. And upon arrival, the suspect employee already had a story. [snorts] So, I'm making sure nothing wrong. I didn't >> what what exactly is going is >> they said >> what's going on? >> He said there's multiple incidents that it was like on the cash resup stuff and stuff not getting m up and stuff being stolen stuff like that. >> Pretty much that's what he said. So I told him with me being here I'm not leaving until I get the full understanding because I don't feel like I did nothing wrong. >> Okay. >> I never work cash has register up here. It's my first time up here. I have plenty of mistakes. Couple people to fix them. But like now he's saying that I walked out with stuff that is stolen and like it was few few ACs that was broken that I that was damaged out and stuff like that that me and him was just talking about. >> But just like I said, I'm not going to get him on anything. But just like he said, just going to the doctor. He has nothing to do. I kept it. But it's not it's not stealing. You know what I'm saying? You figured that was stealing. >> I can't. >> Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Once they go into damage for the system of the store. >> I did do that and I did that. >> Right. But but then [snorts] they're damaged. So the cords are cut. It's severed used. >> See, they never even said that. They never even said that. >> But there but whatever. There's something done to them to where it's not going to be. >> Yeah. It wasn't working at all. It was water dripping out of >> But you after the dumpster I can't control. >> Right. Right. Right. That's >> Let me grab your information. explain to me what that's why I had >> what they're saying you did and then [clears throat] you tell me what what you did. >> I just did. >> I know. >> I just did. It was You said it was um He said it was people multiple people come to my line and that a lot of stuff wasn't getting rung up or candy bar was getting rung up and like it was miscommunications on certain ends and just like I was playing I said I never worked out first. The man claimed it was merely a misunderstanding from the store manager, but inside the loss prevention room, he slightly admitted to possessing the merchandise. >> Merchandise or >> Only time I walked out with merchandise is if one of the employees call me on the speaker and ask me to bring some up and bring it out for employee for a customer. >> They're damaged products. You take them out back, you're supposed to throw them away and then if >> I just keep them. I just take I just keep them just like I just told you. I ain't no lie to you about I kept this one. But >> I ain't lie to you about it. What's the >> about that? >> What's the policy on that? Are they >> They're not eligible for merchants are supposed to be damaged and discarded, destroyed to a point where it can't be taken by anyone. That's our policy. >> See, and and my understanding what that is, that was never explained to me. When it's he just said when it's damaged out, take it to the back. That's all my understanding was. I never was told to cut no cords or anything. Just like he explained to you outside, which he said I didn't tell him that the course wasn't cut. I didn't know that. >> I don't need to speak. But >> you're fine. But there's an interesting question. They were brand new. They weren't returned. I have cross documents that show they weren't returned. They were taken directly from a sales page. >> Yeah, they were sent for sale by somebody called me up front. >> What you're saying is you're >> I'm talking about the other air conditioners. >> I'm not I'm not debate when he asked me information. I'll get my [snorts] Didn't you just ask me about the air conditioners that were supposed to be returned? Right. >> I asked you about the ones that were damaged and broken. >> Those two. and then the ones that was called in for me to carry out for someone. >> It seemed he was confident in his own claims. So, the officers proceeded to speak with the loss prevention employee to hear the store's side of the story. >> So, he's been employed here since the 23rd of June. So, he's only been here 4 weeks. So um over the course of 4 weeks I have 23 video incidents where he he takes out either by walking out himself bagging up merchandise himself or having customers come through the line where he would scan a 50 cent candy bar in lie of an air conditioner or a large pillow or something with value charge them $300 or $4 and walk out with $200 $300 of merchandise. The total that we could prove on video was $3,14 over the last 4 weeks. The day in question the air conditioners are brand new. There's one female involved that's typically here every time. He says that he doesn't know who he is. I believe it's his wife. >> Well, either way, this the same lady he bag of merchandise up for, gifts her, >> walks out with with air conditioners, and this is all happened. The biggest hit was on the I think it was Saturday the 19th. There was almost $1,100 in merchandise that he walked out of the door that he selected from the sales floor, bagged up, and eventually walked out himself in addition to just bagging up for customers. on video. It's unclear, so I'm not gonna say it, but it looks like he was taking cash from customers, and that's why they were just bagging up merchandise. That's I said, I'm not I'm not He was just bagging up merchandise out there. He had actually physically walk out to their cars with them. So, >> because I'm helping them take the They got bags of stuff. Why would I not help them take out? >> Typically, as a cashier, you're responsible for scanning merchandise and charging them. >> There's only two of us working. >> So, either way, there's old people. Which one do make the old people? It was clear the suspect constantly inserted well-reasoned explanations into his statements as if he had prepared them in advance, even going as far as shifting blame onto the store's management. >> I'm not video shows you stealing merchandise, dude. >> Simple. I'm not disputing anything that you're saying. It may look like that, but I didn't steal anything. That's fine. I I don't mind going to court and with my lawyer anything. I have a lawyer, but the thing is, I have worked here before for a while, and I never ever stole anything. I never ever even worked casually. They just trained me to work the register. So if you feel like that I stole some might be mispl because I'm having a conversation with the person, I apologize. That's not my fault. I never stole any I never stole anything in a day in my life. >> That that's you can stick to that story. That's fine. I don't care what you say. I'm just showing what the video shows. >> Okay. >> And consistently being the same person shows that it's not basically. >> So of course of course everybody's going to feel the same way. I'm not disputing none of that. I'm not upset about any of that. But my thing is, I don't steal. If I'm gonna take something, I will take it in your face. I'm not a thief. So, it may have looked like I took something or anything like that. I'm not a thief. I don't been to jail too many times. Never been to jail for stealing nothing in my life. Going to court, doing whatever I got to do to get this resolved. He even used his past criminal history to deny any wrongdoing this time, but that clearly didn't change the outcome as officers immediately confronted him with the surveillance footage evidence. >> I'm going to ask you this. Who is the person in the videos? >> I have no clue. >> Who's the female? >> I have no clue. Okay, man. I'll be honest. I don't I have no clue who that is. Now, if I knew if yall was to let me go home, I will tell you. I do not know. >> If I let you go home, you'll tell me. >> I don't know. I said if I knew who she was, I will tell you. >> Look, man. I'm just being honest with you. When this is get when this is going to get transferred over to DB. >> What is DB? >> Detective Bureau and Detective Bureau is going to look into this. They're going to watch the videos. Okay. >> Let me ask you this question. >> And they'll they'll they'll eventually identify the woman. >> I'm going ask you this question >> cuz they're going to come in here. They're going to interview him. They're going to interview all What's up? >> If I find out who she is, can I please go home? My son is in a hospital. >> Not today, man. Do you have any property here you would like to have somebody take? >> No, I have nothing here at the store. >> You've been caught. You've been caught on video doing this. I understand your son's in the hospital. I understand you want to make a call to your wife. I'm allowing you to make a call to your wife right now. >> Keep taking me to the restroom, please. The rest keep taking Keep walking to the restroom. I told you the restroom. Keep walking right here to the restroom. She's still on the phone. I'm not doing nothing funny. She's still on the phone. surprise. I'm not lying. Hello. >> Hello. I'm not lying. I'm serious. I'm not doing nothing funny, sir. >> He even resorted to using his own family situation just to try to leave. But his actions soon became even more surprising when he realized the officers had already made a decision that didn't go his way. >> Please turn around for me. Place your place your hands behind your back. I do not want to force anything. All right. We've been pulled the whole time. >> I know. And I'm just trying to I'm trying to breathe. That's what that is. >> All right. So, just place turn around. Place my place your hands back in the back. All right. Stop. I'm not doing this. Stop. Stop. I will get up. I'm going get up. I will get up. I will get up. I will get up. I will get up. I'mma get up. Stop. I will get up. Lay me up. I will get up. I will get up. I will get up, sir. >> Huh? >> I will get up. I promise. I will get up. I will get up. Here. I will get up. Stop. Tell him to stop. >> You're dying. I got him. >> The question was raised if he had done nothing wrong, why did he try to run? And the consequences of that escape were something he then clung to in an attempt to portray himself as the victim. >> Damn. I wasn't trying to run from I ran in a circle and ran right back right here. >> Yeah. >> I didn't run. >> Where'd you get tackled at? >> Right where I'm at. Right here. So, I was running somewhere I kept going straight or something. >> Yeah. >> Hey, Daniel. I was just scared like to my son like >> Hey Daniel, other than asking what kind of symptoms you got, >> hidle hernia and her hyalia. >> Hyal hernia. >> Are you injured at all? >> Yes. >> Where at? >> My breathing, my knees, my ankle. >> Okay. How did you get the injury? >> I was scared. I'm scared because I was trying to call my son back. >> Okay. >> Because he's in the hospital. >> They don't know if he's going to make it or not. I was scared. >> Okay. >> He had a ship sale. Okay. I'm sorry to hear that. >> 14 days. I just want to make sure he is all right. That's it. >> Listen, we're not here to judge you in any capacity. >> The thing about it is I wasn't running away from him. >> Running away from who? >> The officer. I wasn't running away from I just want to talk to my son while I last. So, I went to jail. >> Okay. Um >> I wanted The thing I want to jail for is I don't even understand. >> Okay. I stand for say >> you take this off my face. >> You're good, man. I get it. >> Felon is a scary situation, man. >> It's not It's It's not even about the felony. >> In the end, the man was charged with felony theft along with resisting arrest and obstructing justice, as all his explanations failed to outweigh the overwhelming evidence against him. [music] Trying to justify wrongdoing with excuses or manipulation only makes the consequences worse, especially when the evidence already speaks for itself. What do you think about cases like this? When officers approached, she appeared visibly frightened by their presence. And the shocking truth gradually came to light. >> Hi. >> Hi. >> What are you putting in your stroller? >> Something. >> Yeah. You want to lift it? But as soon as the officers listed the items found in her stroller, her attitude changed instantly. >> Don't. >> So, so you need to steal moisturizing conditioner, right? You need to steal. Because even though we might not see eye to eye right now, I'd like you to get some help while you're in Lee County. Do you understand? Okay? and you you can dislike me and and whatever it might be, but >> I don't dislike you. I just wish like you wouldn't like >> you wish I was nice to you. >> When No, not even that. When you approach people in certain situations, don't just treat them bad or just >> The woman saw herself as the victim even though she was the one who raised her voice and obstructed the officers from the start. Watch how police handled this situation and leave your thoughts below. >> Have we ever met before? >> No. Do I know who you are and what you're capable of? >> No, sir. But sir, >> so when when everything is calmed down like this, I can have a civilized discussion with you, but I can't do that while I have you. I'm worrying about her in the car. Okay? I don't know who else is in the car with her. Okay? So, I have all these moving parts coming with going on, right? So, I don't have time to have conversations right then and there. We have to wait till everything is under control. Then, I'll talk to you. Okay? like this. All right. >> Yes. >> Because I'm not trying to be mean to you, okay? I'm I'm trying to be a nice guy to you, okay? But there are certain things that need to happen in order for me to start relaxing and being nice to you. Well, listen. How old are you? >> 21. >> You got a lot of time to change your life around him. >> Okay. A lot. Don't Don't become one of these people that steal for a living, okay? Cuz there's people out there like that. I'm not saying that's you, but they they they start this way and then next thing you know, they're they're stealing things. They're going to Miami trying to sell things. They're doing all sorts of stuff to survive. Okay, go to school. Do something. You're 21. >> You don't need to be at CVS at 1:00 in the morning stealing. You know what I'm saying? Running into Deputy Brown. All right. I'm going to give you the number to the ACT shelter. If you need a place to stay, call them. Okay. In the end, the woman was charged with grand theft and resisting without violence. Denial and anger only made the situation worse, showing that accountability and cooperation are often the only way to prevent a small mistake from turning into a lifealtering consequence. In the next case, this shoplifter only added more charges to her warrant. >> For the same stuff, you always have more for shoplifting. >> I don't have no >> Let's put on some pants because you're going >> We treat you with dignity, you get treated with dignity. On May 13th, 2024, police were dispatched to a hotel after receiving a report that a woman wanted for shoplifting was there. This is what happened when the officers arrived on the scene. >> Hey, Missy. >> No, you're not Missy. >> What's your name? >> My name Baker. >> What's your date of birth? >> Huh? >> Your date of birth? When's your birthday? >> 1985. Who else says something's wrong with you? >> You have an ID. I can see real quick. We're just looking for Miss. That's all. >> I don't have my ID. You don't have any type of photo ID? >> Mm-m. Who's his room under? >> Huh? >> Who's his room under? >> Um, it's under my system. >> Okay. Here's D. You got warrants for you. Okay. So, if you want extra charges and not be truthful, got your picture. I ain't got no wants on you. >> I already know it's >> I already know it's you and you weren't born in 2005. So go ahead and step out. >> I ain't got no wants on me. >> Step out. >> Don't go my daughter. That's my daughter. >> Okay then. Well then you need to comply with us then. >> I ain't got no wants on me. >> The woman reportedly sitting inside the room refused to cooperate with the police, forcing them to take decisive action and arrest her. >> I don't have no wants on me. No, I don't. I don't have no wants on me. Stop. I'm not resisting. I don't have yours on me. Stop. Stop. >> Okay. All right. I'm not about to fight. Just let me talk my second. >> Get your hands behind your back now. >> I don't [snorts] have no wants on me. >> Ma'am, do you have an ID? >> Once for what? >> How old are you? >> Ow. You pinching me. >> Who? Ma'am. >> Well, I got a one. >> Who's that? I don't have no wants on me >> for the same stuff you always have wants on you for shoplifting. >> I don't have no fleeing. >> Fleeing from who? >> I didn't flee from nobody. >> I didn't flee from nobody. >> You're out of Chattam County. >> I don't have no one for Chattam County. >> We just looked you up. >> I JUST GOT OUT OF um has been Georgia jail. Just step through the pants right now. >> I can't I can't I can't fit those. >> What? You got something that you get a little phone? >> Baby, can you get my phone? I can't fit those pants. >> You have any shorts or anything? >> I don't have nothing. >> So, you don't have any bottoms? >> No. >> Been here at all? >> No. >> The woman refused to step out for numerous unreasonable reasons, claiming she wasn't wearing pants and even insisting her illness prevented her from complying. I can't I can't go nowhere. JUST LET ME GO. I'M ALREADY PATIENT. STOP. I'M INTO STOP. JUST LET ME GO. I'M NOT GOING NOWHERE. >> OKAY. WHERE'S THE >> I'M NOT GOING NOWHERE. I'M TRYING TO I'M NOT GOING [screaming] NOWHERE. LET ME GO. >> ALL RIGHT. JUST WALK. >> I'M NOT GOING NOWHERE. I WAS ABOUT TO WALK. STOP. >> LET'S GO. >> LET ME GO. OKAY. SHE DON'T GOT TO HANDLE ME LIKE THAT. >> OH, let's go then. You're the one making this way more than it needs to be. >> Give me my phone. Give me my phone. I'll >> I'll grab your phone. >> I don't have Stop. Let me go. You don't have to hold me. Let me go. You don't have to hold me. >> Yeah, we do. It's part of part of the sport. >> Let me go. Let me go. Put your Let me go. No. No. Let me go. >> I'm going to walk down >> just like that. >> Another felony and you're going to become a sex offender. >> And you going to be listed as a sex offender. That is correct. her fault. She don't have any clothes. >> She has nothing. >> No pajamas, no nothing. She been staying in this room for months now. >> Does he have a pajama >> right there? Does that might fit her? >> Even after being placed into the patrol vehicle, the woman still refused to accept reality and continued to deny everything. >> It's not ours. >> I ain't got no warrants. That's why I just got out of Hansville jail. >> I just got out of Hansville jail. >> What I got a warrant for? I ain't got no want for trying to be inside the business for you inside the business. >> What I got a want for? That's what I'm trying to figure out. Our mental health. You can't handle me like that. I I want to go to the mental health hospital. >> No, ma'am. >> I want to go to the hospital. >> I want to go to the hospital. I'M MENTAL HEALTH. STOP YOU [screaming] GUYS. >> [crying] >> go to the middle hospital. No, no. Go to the hospital. No. The question arose. She had been there for quite some time. So why did she only ask to go to the hospital when police arrived? Shortly after, officers clearly explained their assessment to the suspect's daughter. She's got enough sense about her that she can lie to us about her name. She can lie to us about her date of birth. All right. She can act right. All right. >> Let me get the out of here now. >> 26 to 12. >> Access to the keyboard. >> You telling me shut up everybody. >> You shut up. [ __ ] you talking about? I told you. >> DON'T LET HER GRAB ME ALL TYPE OF WAYS. >> I told you that. >> They going to charge you in SOMETHING ELSE. >> I TOLD YOU don't let THE DON'T GRAB ME ON TOP OF THE WAY. I told you that. You going to TELL ME TO SHUT UP? >> In fact, the woman had been to jail twice. Yet, that didn't seem to concern her as she then used it as justification for refusing to provide her identity. [ __ ] got out of two jails. I don't Bisville. Come on. Y'all know they do our fingerprints when we go through there. I just got out. I just got out of hand in county. My sister paid two bars. The Amalf did they want me? said no understanding why I'm going back to jail. Your polar officer just sought me to jail like a month and a half or two months ago right down to Tigga Island. I was going to record that polo rap flooring. He pulled me over and sent me to jail. In the end, the woman was identified as Londa Mincy, and she was charged with obstruction of justice, indecent exposure, property damage, and additional felony charges for providing false information, and resisting. Actions driven by denial and defiance only made the situation worse, proving that taking responsibility early could have prevented more severe consequences. Worse, the woman turned her own shoplifting case into a far more complicated situation. >> I've not done anything wrong. >> Okay. >> No, no, no. What you're doing is you're accusing me of something. Now, can I tell you something? Please don't. I'm not I'm not I'm not We can walk. We're walking through. >> On September 15th, officers received a report from a Walgreens store stating that they had detained a woman who had been opening merchandise and shoplifting inside the store. This was what happened when officers approached the woman. I'm officer Bana with department police department. The reason I'm contacting you is employees have seen you unpackaging some stuff and putting stuff in your purse. >> No, I didn't pack nothing. You can look. >> Okay. Do you have an ID on you, ma'am? >> No, I don't. >> No. >> I've not done anything wrong. >> Okay. >> No, no, look. No. What you're doing is you're accusing me of something. Now, can I tell you something? I've not done any No, I'm not listening to you, please, sir. I've not done anything wrong. I'm showing you my bag. >> I've not done No. Listen, please. I have not done anything wrong. >> What is your name now? >> No, you can tell me to leave the store. Listen, sir. >> Call your No. Call your supervisor. Call your super No. Call >> Put your bag down. No. No. I'm not going to put my >> I'm not going to fight you. Call your supervisor. >> I'm going to entertain you because the way you're behaving. >> No, please do not. I'm You ask you to call your supervisor. I'm not behaving in any type of way. >> You can ask me to leave the store. No, listen. You can ask No, you do not. You have no right to identify me. and look in my bag. >> Although she denied all accusations, she refused to cooperate in resolving the situation. Not stopping there, her resistance led to chaos shortly after. >> Turn around. I'm not I'm not. >> Yes, you are. Stop. Stop. You guys left. >> Andrew, help. >> Ma'am, please. >> Andrew. Another person with you. I don't know. I didn't do anything wrong. You're doing like that. YOU DON'T DO anything wrong. >> Get your hand off of it then. You're not doing anything wrong. >> That's why I had to. >> You didn't have to. Okay. >> Those are my shoes, by the way. >> I know. They're yours. You walked in. I kicked it. You saw them. >> Okay. >> Do you have any injuries? >> Yeah, I do. medic. >> Okay, where's >> my head? I can't breathe. >> All right, >> let's switch. >> Yeah. >> In fact, this incident did not involve just one woman. Another woman who was unaware that her friend had been detained was also connected. But the moment she appeared, officers immediately took action. >> How did she >> She was taken forever. So, I came to see and then Yeah. I >> So, ma'am, go ahead and put your hands behind your back. >> I'm going to detain you for right now. Okay. >> How old are you, ma'am? >> Um, I'm 21. >> Okay. And what's your name? >> Um, Al. >> Al? >> Yeah. Al. >> Okay. >> How long were you in the store? >> I just got here. >> Okay. >> You want me to take her outside for now and sit her down? >> Yeah. Let me lock these up real quick. Take that. >> She just tried to say right now that she doesn't know her, but >> she was asking her about stuff. >> That's the one here. >> There you go. >> Okay. Yes, right now she's just being detained. We don't know what else to ask her. >> Why am I being >> Also, we need to find out what car they came in. >> I didn't come with her. I walked. >> You walked here? >> Yeah, I walked her. >> She was taken forever. >> Have any weapons on you or anything like that? >> No. >> No. Okay, I'm going go ahead and check. Returning to the initial suspect, after the chaos she created, her information still could not be obtained. Even at this point, she began playing the victim to make things more difficult. >> I got slammed by my face. >> You can't breathe? >> I like some sore. >> Okay. Sorry. >> Do you have any medical conditions we should be concerned about? >> Okay, ma'am. What's your first name? >> Alison. >> Allison. >> Alise. Al Z. >> A L I Z E. Okay. What's your last name? >> Okay. What's a good phone number for you? >> I don't know. >> You don't know that while you do anything. >> What's your name? Can we start off with that? What's your name, ma'am? So, Bano did use force. He's in there sweating away. We have two individuals. She's the one that he got into use of force with. That other female that showed up, they had like a bit of a miniature conversation in front of us. So, she's actually being detained also. I don't know what crime we have yet, but uh she's complaining of being slammed on her face. >> Okay. >> She was opening food items like chugging milk and had possibly concealed stuff in her purse, had been in the bathroom for like an hour, I think. >> Okay. As for the second suspect, she appeared more cooperative with the investigation as she tried to deny any involvement. However, her story was clearly flawed when recounting what had happened. >> You know, it's not illegal to know someone, you know what I mean? But we're just trying to piece everything together. She was committing crimes. >> So, can you just be honest about what your role was here? >> No, I'm serious. I really just got here. Like, I I didn't hear any or nothing until she was getting arrested. She was taken from me >> and I needed to leave cuz I knew each other first. You know, >> I can't even see her. >> That does that doesn't make any sense. >> What do you mean that doesn't make any sense? >> You said you don't know who she is. >> I do know who she is. >> Okay. You know who she is? >> Yes. And how did she get your purse? >> Um from the house. >> So So give me give me the full story. >> I came with this girl that was right there just now. Like I didn't even walk in with her or nothing. >> You came with the guy in the blue shirt? >> Yes. What's his name? And I don't know is not the correct answer. >> I literally just met him. I literally just met him. I don't know. Actually, >> okay. So, that was it. Listen, I'm a reasonable guy. I don't like to >> Okay. Why? I have no reason to lie, though. >> But this happened. >> If she wanted to do her thing, she could do her thing, but she wanted to grow my purse and that was it. And you're going shopping with some random dude that's tweaked out of his mind and has tattoos all over his face and you don't know his name. >> No, I don't. I just walked with him from the house. I was >> there other people that live in the house and hang out with him. >> Did she ask? >> Did she ask to borrow your purse at the house or >> at the house? >> Okay. So, she asked to borrow your purse at the house and what was her need for borrowing your purse? >> I don't know. She just wanted to borrow my purse. I don't know what she wanted to do. That's what was in store. >> And then so were you waiting outside of the store or? >> No, I was in I was in the store. >> You're in the store? >> And then looking for her. >> According to the investigation, this woman was also tied to an outstanding warrant related to a traffic violation, making her arrest unavoidable. But more surprisingly, officers even discovered that she had enough money to pay for the items instead of stealing. >> I don't have like moneywise. >> Yeah. >> Um, yeah. I had money. I had money in like a EBT card in the purse. >> Can you buy makeup stuff with an EBT? >> No, within for the milk. And then I had a a a Venmo card to purchase the makeup. >> Where's the Venmo card? >> In my friend's purse. >> I don't believe there's a Venmo card. >> There it is. It's in the very front pocket. >> Okay, I'll I'll check on that. How much do you think the merchandise like how much is on that Venmo card? >> Um, a few hundred. But I only I saw Can you get the pair out of my mouth? Like >> I didn't think there was anywhere near $100 in makeup even. >> It's $500. I'm just going to take a picture of you. Okay. If you would mind just like showing your your lipstick a little. >> Is it Venmo card in your name? >> No, it's my friend Max. >> Your friend Max. Okay. And that was in the purse. >> Yeah. >> But the purse belongs to >> Yeah. >> What's her face? >> Yeah. >> What's her name again? >> It's I I just call her B. I don't I don't um her name is I don't know her name. >> Okay, got it. I'll look into that. There's still a bunch of other felonies. >> Okay. Okay. >> So, the shoplifting, I don't know. You don't contest all that stuff in court, but try and take my taser, headbutting me, you know, it's nothing personal. I'm not upset about it, but you know, it's a crime. We're going to go in. Um we're going to do things peacefully. If you run and you try to fight me, it's not going to end well for you. >> No. Why would I do that? I'm wearing cuffs. >> Well, you tried to run away from us when you're in cuffs. >> Well, that's cuz I thought that um chances of not going to jail. >> Tiffany Pope was charged with felony shoplifting, lararseny over $500, battery upon a peace officer, disarming a peace officer, concealing identity, resisting arrest, and was also booked on two outstanding felony warrants. Trying to deny obvious wrongdoing while refusing to cooperate only made the situation worse.
