I wanted to take a few minutes to update you on a few incidents from this weekend. These are troubling incidents but I think they really highlight the good work that officers are doing in the community right now in a really tough environment. Last night in the area of Sandy and Prescott an officer was responding to a call for service when his vehicle was struck by an impaired driver. During the course of that investigation another irate driver drove through that investigation scene and struck one of our sergeants. neither the officer nor the sergeant suffered serious injuries during that incident thankfully. And also on Saturday this past weekend officers were attempting to make a traffic stop in the area of 103 and Northeast Halsey when occupants of that vehicle fired upon those officers striking the police vehicle. Thankfully no officers were struck and no officers were injured in that event. But I wanted to take this opportunity to really just focus on some of the brazen type of activity going on right now. And really highlight the environment officers are working really hard in especially given the shortages that we have as well. So I'm thankful that none of our folks were hurt and hopefully we'll have someone in custody involved in that shooting but I really just want to take an opportunity thank officers for the hard work and bravery and let them know that we support them.
