[music] [music] Not only will you see that escape, but in today's video, you'll also see [music] suspects pretending to be innocent even after being caught on camera. >> Which one are you? Cuz I dealt with y'all at Walmart, too, for a similar reason. >> I've never been dealt with at no >> or the innocent act of dismissing the value of the stolen goods. It's a $20 stool. >> Well, it's not just about what the stool is. It's about the act of what was done. >> And I'm very sorry. >> And there are other cases as well. All of which you'll see in today's video. Cops surprise stop shoplifterss act like they did nothing wrong. Starting with the woman playing innocent, unaware she was already caught on camera. >> Stool. That's what I'm saying. It's a stool. So you you got confronted with the video. I mean, you you mentioned that they they kind of said that this tag is kind of weird, right? >> And I said to her, >> on the 29th of May, 2024, officers were dispatched to a small business after receiving a report of a retail theft. The suspect was reportedly an older woman who had attempted to switch price tags between items to get a stool. But how did the store employees find out? Let's hear their statements to understand exactly what happened. So, not nice, but nice to see you again. >> Yeah. Well, apparently this is where the crime's happening in St. Joe. >> What the hell is going on around here? >> I haven't done anything since the last report. Then you had for me, so I guess we'll do it again, >> I guess. So, >> um, so switching some price tags and taking a stool. >> Yeah, it was a stool that wasn't for sale. >> Like a Was it like more for like display? >> It was the ladies for display. Yeah. Mhm. >> Okay. I was struggling in my head to understand. >> Yeah. Is there like a storage unit or what? I figured it out. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Um I see you have the price tags. Do you still have that one >> from the stool that she bought? >> Mhm. Okay. So, this is the one that she took off. Sorry, we marked through it. No worries. >> She took this tag off of a white step stool. >> Okay. >> And put it on the brown one. [snorts] And then of course the next day somebody wanted to buy the white step stool and we're like why is there no tag on it? >> Because she's really good about putting tags on it. >> And so now now we know why there wasn't a tag on it cuz she took it. >> And then >> do you got a photocopier? >> I do. >> And you saw the video. Okay. >> And it was just a fluke that I found it that >> Yeah, it was weird. I was like, >> the employees had looked into the incident very carefully, giving the officer confidence in the accusation. They had even [snorts] checked the woman's information through her previous purchases >> cuz that lady the whose stuff it was hadn't been in for 12 days. Yeah. >> I'm like, "Oh my god, I got to look at 12 days." >> Yeah. >> And I said, "I'm just going to start on Saturday because I worked Saturday." >> Yeah. >> And um >> it gutsy. >> I just saw something weird in it. And then I went back and went back and went back and then I saw it happening and I was like, "Oh, I called you. I was like, can you leave? I just found it." >> Yeah. I mean, sometimes it's hours of footage that we go through. >> Yes. I can >> I can only imagine those. >> Really? >> And she that day I didn't pull her receipt, but she did pay with a credit card, >> which is how we got her name. >> I mean, she comes in all the time and she was in yesterday. If she goes comes in all the time. >> I know. Well, we followed her. >> It might go to uh >> I got it. >> All right. Well, I'll go talk with her and see if I can't get this back. Okay. >> The officer then approached the suspect while she was right outside her home. From the moment he arrived, she completely denied everything. And her display of innocence was nothing short of remarkable. >> You know, my body came rolling. Okay. Audio video recording. >> Yeah. >> I'm here about um your recent shopping trip at the Merkantile Mart. >> Yeah. about the stool. >> Yeah. About the stool you bought? >> Yeah. >> Can we talk about that? >> Sure. >> Is there a place a good place inside or do you want to talk? Okay. >> Right here. >> Um, so the consigner for the shop came and and looked at the stuff and said her stool was missing and they reviewed the cameras. >> Um, and the stool that you bought wasn't for sale. >> Well, the tag was right on the bottom of it. >> Okay. >> It was like it was like right beside it. >> Okay. And and the lady even questioned me when I when I purchased it. >> Mhm. What What'd she question you about? >> She goes She goes, "This says white stool." And I said, "I'm sorry, I don't know." We were both back there looking and I liked it and it's sitting right in my living room right now and that's the only thing I know. >> But she questioned me and I said, "Well, I don't know. You tell me." >> Okay. >> And she sold it to me. It's It's as simple as the fact that the area that the stool was at >> had security cameras >> and that's fine. >> Okay. >> But the white thing was sitting right at the bottom of the stool. So I picked it up and >> Right. But those those security cameras were recording. >> That's fine. I didn't do anything wrong. >> Her story sounded fairly convincing, but it still failed to persuade the officer because he had already seen the security footage. So, how would she react when the officer brought up what the cameras had captured? >> Well, the security cameras show you take the tag off of a white stool >> and put it on the dark stool. That's that's what they showed me. >> Do you want the stool back? I >> I I do need the stool back. Okay. >> And do you have your driver's license or an ID >> inside the house? >> Okay. Do you mind if I come in with you? >> Well, my father's here with me. I mean, we were innocent shoppers. Well, the security cameras show that you took the tag off of a different item and placed it on the item. Do you think it was odd that a that a tag saying white stool was placed on up? >> I didn't even look at the tag. >> You did look at the tag. You put the stool down. Um your father when you shopping with your father, he came around the corner and he the video shows you look at the tag again. >> You picked it up off the white stool and you came in. So, >> I did not, but that's fine. >> Needed to do to get this out. >> Hey, hey, >> how you doing, sir? Well, I'm here. >> So am I. >> This is it. You can have it. >> And so be it. >> And do you have your driver's license? >> And am I going to get my money back? >> Do you have your driver's license on you? >> Am I going to get my money back? >> She immediately suggested returning the stool and even asked if she would get her money back, completely ignoring everything that had happened before. >> [snorts] >> But the officer had a way to make sure she could no longer avoid the issue. Okay, >> let me just be clear with you, okay? So you know that I'm not pulling your leg. >> Well, >> I'm cool for Okay, I'm >> I understand. >> I just want you to you you to understand that I'm not pulling your leg. Right. So this this is what they showed me, right? And I'd really like for you to understand and explain what's going on in this video. I don't know. I was looking at stools. I was looking at stools. >> Okay. >> And I [laughter] But but the thing of it was if if if I'm being if I'm being questioned about the purchase, why didn't they stop me at the cash stand? >> Well, I mean, you you mentioned that they they kind of said that this tag is kind of weird at the cash, right? >> And I said to her, I don't know. Please go check. >> Okay. Why don't you me anyway? >> I don't I don't know. Do you think it's a retail establishment's responsibility? >> No. >> To make sure that you're not swapping tags and to catch everything that goes through? >> No. Of course not. >> Of course not. >> Do you see you're looking at it now? >> I'm looking at it. >> I'm reading it. Yes. >> So, I think a customer with good intentions and one that supports the local businesses that they that they they purchase at would go, "Hey, wait. This tag's wrong. Let me address it with the cashier and and and see if we can get it get it fixed." I shop there all the time. I've never come across anything like this. So, >> okay. Well, >> her active innocence showed no signs of falling apart, but the more the officer questioned her, the greater the pressure became. Eventually, she had to admit it. >> We set the stool down. Look at it. Okay. It's a nice stool. What are you doing right there? Are you looking at the tag? >> No, I was looking at the stool. >> You have the tag in your fingers and you're turning the tag. They're looking at the tag. >> Okay. It's a stool. >> It's a stool. That's what I'm saying. It's a stool. >> So, you you got confronted with the video of you swapping the tags on it. And we still can't just respect the fact that we made a mistake. >> I made a mistake. I respect that. I made a mistake. But I did not think that that was the wrong tag for the stool. >> Okay. >> I'm just going to say that up front. We're talking in circles now >> and and it is what it is. Okay. So, >> what's good phone number for you? >> What What What's going on? >> Well, that video shows that you took the tag off of a different item and placed it on an item that wasn't even for sale. >> Well, I didn't know that. That's why I put the tag on it. >> Do you think it might have behooved you to be like, "Oh, there's no tag on this. Maybe it's not for sale. Never have come across something like that before in there. I shop there a lot. You can ask them. >> I've talked to them before. I talked to them today. >> Just I >> I'm sorry. I picked up the tag. I thought it was for that stool. I'm very sorry. >> But when you looked at the tag and you saw that it said it was for a white stool. >> You didn't. >> You know what I was looking at? I was looking at the price. >> Okay. >> I wasn't looking at white stool. Okay. I seriously wasn't. >> And then you went up to the front register >> and they said, "This tag's for a white stool." He didn't say, "Oh, I'm sorry. Let me go find the right tag." Or you didn't say, "Oh, my mistake. Let me go." >> I went to her and I when she said that, I said, "Then you tell me what it's supposed to be." >> She still seemed to show no remorse for what she had done. Perhaps with a luxurious home, stealing a $20 stool simply didn't seem that serious to her. It's a $20 stool. >> Well, it's not just about what the stool is. It's about the act of what was done. >> And I'm very sorry. >> Okay. I respect that. I do. I respect that. >> You got the stool back. I'm very sorry. >> What's a good phone? >> I am not a stealer. >> What's a good phone number? >> Is it? >> Yes. Okay. >> Matches my computer talking. Here's your ID back. Okay. >> Thank you. >> And then unfortunately it I I understand that you say you're not a stealer, but the act that was committed is considered retail theft. >> Okay. Tags do need to stay on on >> Well, I won't so they don't have to worry about me. >> The continuation of this is they do not want you back. >> No, I don't want back. um uh they consider you banned from the business and if you do return you're subject to arrest for trust. >> That's fine. That's fine. >> Okay. It it's it's simple if we understand that and that goes there. >> So this is also going to be your copy. It's a notice to appear in court. Okay. You do have to appear in court on the 25th of next month, 10:30 a.m. courtroom K in Urbana. Okay. That's to ask for a retail theft charge. All right. And that's for the act of swapping the tags, picking up a tag off of another item, placing it on one that was not originally for sale, and then going up and purchasing it. Okay? It's essentially as if you were to put a sticker for an apple on a display case at Walmart and try to buy the display case, right? So, I don't think the shop should be responsible for your actions. Okay? Do make sure you do show up to that court tape and the state's attorney. In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft. Under Florida Statute Section 812.015, [music] if the offense was classified as petite retail theft, a first conviction could carry up to 60 days in jail and $500 in fines. A secondderee petite retail theft conviction could carry up to one year in jail and $1,000 in fines. [snorts] The lesson. A small price tag swap can still become a retail theft charge when security footage clearly shows what happened. Denying it repeatedly only makes it harder to avoid responsibility once the evidence is already in the officer's hands. Next, these shoplifterss believe they would be let go if they betrayed each other. >> So, that's her. >> Can you pause just a little? >> Okay. Where is it? >> Can you let me go? Where is it? >> On the 31st of December 2023, police were called to the Ulta store at Jefferson Commons to report a theft that had occurred earlier. But this was not an ordinary theft as employees alleged that the suspects were also involved in multiple stores in the area and had targeted their store several times. >> They've been hitting like all the Ultas around the area. So, they came back in hit us. Yeah, she's on the phone right now um talking to our little company thing. So, >> who's she? >> Um she's she got the license plate actually um cuz one of the girls was on break when it happened. So, she got the license, but >> she thinks she got >> When did this happen? >> 10:50, I believe. Um, we didn't know if it was the same girl, so we had to like into the cameras and >> Do you have her on your cameras? >> Mhm. >> Can you show me? >> No, it's not. >> What did it take? >> They took a lot of the Urban Decay palettes, which are like bandit tagged. Like all of them are bandit tagged. >> Like the thing that goes off when you walk inside. Yep. So, they took a lot of those and that was what they did the last time as well. So, >> the employees also estimated the value of the stolen merchandise at $2,000 to $3,000, not including the previous incidents. They later provided camera footage that further supported their statements. >> So, they're actually about to walk in. Sorry, our computer's a little too. Okay. I'm sorry. Oh, you're fine. Do >> you have anything of them when they're walking out with their face? >> So, I have one of the girls >> 15 radio. >> Can you hold me out to the hospital? >> So, that's a car. That works. Oh, >> can you pause just a little bit back? >> That'll work. >> That's pretty cool. >> Thank you so [music] much. >> And then the other girl, she's kind of hard to see. >> Did they buy anything or they literally just walk in? >> That's her. >> Grab it up and >> Yeah, they just kind of quickly grab everything. So they just see the alarm. You can actually see the alarm going off too when they walk out. >> You can tell it's the same one with the breed. She had a mask on at St. Matthews. They hit her them like two days ago. Okay. >> Yeah. See alarm goes off as soon as they walk out. But she kind of like went into that corner. Yeah. >> Where you go through them. So >> they didn't even leave at the same time. >> Nope. Well, they were like right behind each other, but the other one was coming right in. >> Okay. >> Someone else say they took a picture of the tag and >> Yeah. Did at least Rebecca, she gave you the >> Let me go get it again. I can't believe people risk their lives for makeup. >> This is everything I would expect from Ulta. Based on the information provided by the store, the officer identified the suspect's license plate. They quickly located and approached the suspects, taking them into custody later that same day. >> Is that 06 x-ray? >> The echo 6 xray. Return. >> What? >> Step out, >> sir. >> Turn around. Faceway. >> What did I do? >> I'll explain to you in a second. >> What happened? >> You're not under arrest right now. You're going to be detained. Okay. >> Oh, baby. >> You both are going to be detained. So, don't do anything stupid. Stay in the car. >> I didn't do nothing anyway. >> What did I know? >> I will explain it all to you in one second. Come over here. Sit in the car. Don't do anything silly. >> Who are you closest to in the J Mall parking lot? >> In front of the Jason Kenny. I have one female. The other one's getting >> What happened? >> Step out. >> Yes, sir. Y'all got anything on your person? Guns, drugs? Is it just check? >> Where's all the stuff you guys took from Ulta? >> Oh, cool. >> Where's all the stuff you guys took from Alta? First of all, hold on. before I do anything. >> Y'all can both sit on the car. >> Yes. >> All right. >> You have a right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. >> One woman looked confused while the other remained fairly calm as if she knew exactly what was happening or was simply trying to deny it because shortly afterward the denials began. >> You literally just said you took it and brought it home. How how do you how can you say that and I don't have nothing on me? >> Is my mama's cash out? >> I don't care. She don't have anything in there. You >> got ID on you? >> No. >> You have an ID on you. You have it in your hand. >> That's not me. That's my cousin. >> Oh, you carry your >> She left her ID in my purse. >> All right. Which one are you? Cuz I dealt with y'all at Walmart, too, for similar issues. >> I never been dealt with at no Walmart. >> There's a bunch of you guys in this car. It was you specifically, but >> y'all, whoever drives this car with y'all, whoever you share this car with. >> No, I have a whole >> You got anything else on you? Guns, drugs. I'm going to use the back of my hand. All right, just turn around real quick. >> And I'm And and I'm like I said, I'm >> I don't got I didn't steal no $3,000 worth of stuff. I >> So then explain how you were in the store. I got it all on film. You walk in, you go right to the corner. You walk right out. >> I didn't walk in and go to the corner. Walk right. >> Is it my chance to talk or is it your chance to talk? >> How is it that y'all walked in, walked to the back right corner, did whatever y'all did, walked back right out, didn't say nothing to nobody, didn't stop at nowhere, and all their stuff went off. And they've got you on camera holding a bunch of stuff. >> Got me on camera holding a bunch of stuff. >> Yeah. And they've got you in St. Matthews, too. >> St. Matthews? I you're going to come sit over here. You just lean on the car. >> Despite their denials, they ultimately could not hide their secret because just minutes later, one of the two women decided to betray the other. >> Get in the car. >> She left this. >> Okay. Where is it? >> Can you let me go for >> Where is it? >> Okay. Get in the car. >> Please don't lock me up. >> Get in the car. Okay. Get in the car. >> Get in the car. Get in the car. >> Stuff at your house. >> Don't [ __ ] me. She just said the stuff's she's singing like a bird. Where is the product that y'all took? >> I find that incredibly hard to believe. Where is the product that y'all want? >> Okay. >> I don't know why she was saved, but it's anything in my house. >> Where do you live? She picked I >> which is where? >> Yeah, I'm telling you. >> Okay. >> She pick me up. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> I'm listening. >> Okay. So then be honest with me cuz I don't think you're being honest with me just yet. >> My son recently passed. I don't even feel like my son and she whatever she said about that. But I didn't know exactly everything was going. >> So what happened at >> some y'all brought a bunch of makeup out of the store. Correct. >> And nobody paid for it. Correct. >> Okay. So you are you are what you're saying is you are aware that she was in the store. She got some product and y'all exited the store without paying for your product is what you're saying. Correct. Just it's a yes or no. You guys were in the store. >> Okay. You still want to answer my question? >> Although the woman avoided answering the officer's questions, she could not hide the truth as all the merchandise the officer found afterward became the answer to their actions. >> Send all this stuff to property. Is what you're saying? >> Yeah. >> You can return it back to them. Whatever you want to do. Well, she's saying this stuff didn't come from Ulta. This came from Cosmo Pro. >> Okay. >> This I'm just going to run to Ulta right off the street. >> Yeah, that's fine. >> And then I'm going to ask him to do a total on it. >> Uh, what about this stuff? Asking for this beauty secret. I mean, that's literally like tons of [ __ ] >> All right. Well, we'll just need >> All right. That's it. It's too much stuff. Um, I would take >> Oh, Jesus. Yeah. >> I mean, anything that you expect to shop with, but honestly, the quickest thing is >> There's a black jacket, too. >> Like the irons and all that. I would take pictures and put it in property room under this case. >> I I took a Rosa tagged and uh arguably stolen uh items from Ross belong to Ulta. >> This does, actually. I think all this does. Okay, that's not ours. I know for a fact. >> Yeah, she said some of this may have come from Curl Pro or something. >> This is ours. >> Like I said earlier, this is all a foreign language to me. >> And we don't carry this one, but another Ulta might. But we do carry these two. >> Okay. Well, if if you want to recover that cuz you're saying you're sure that that's Ulta's product, I'm good with it. If you're saying this stuff is maybe this is gonna go to our property room. >> Yeah. >> Can you ask her? Can you get her? >> Get who? >> I want to let her tell her that it was her. >> In the end, both women were charged with felony theft. The [snorts] lesson: repeated denials mean little when surveillance footage and recovered merchandise tell a different story. Once investigators connect the evidence from multiple stores, trying to hide the truth can only make the situation worse. Next, the man acted innocent, but his actions proved otherwise. >> It may have been a conversation that I may have got threw off or something like that, but I don't feel like I was still anything. >> All right. >> On the 22nd of July 2025, police [snorts] were dispatched to a retail store after receiving a report of theft. The suspect was actually one of the store's own employees, who allegedly took advantage of his position to take multiple items out of the store. But when officers arrived, he confidently insisted he was innocent and confronted the very officers investigating him. >> Okay. >> They I told him I wasn't leaving and going nowhere until I figured out what was going on. So, I'm still here. So, I'm making sure nothing wrong. So, I didn't >> What What exactly is going is >> They said going on. >> He said there's multiple incidents that it was like on the cash resup not getting mug up and stuff being stolen, stuff like that. >> Pretty much that's what he said. So I told him with me being here, I'm not leaving until I get the full understanding because I don't feel like I did nothing wrong. >> Okay. >> I never worked as register up here. It's my first time up here. I have plenty of mistakes. Couple people to fix them. But like now he's saying that I walked out with stuff that is stolen and like it was few few ACs that was broken that I that was damaged out and stuff like that. That that's what me was just talking about. >> But just like I said, I'm not going to him on anything. But just like you said, if it's going to the dumpster, he has nothing to do with it. I kept it, but it's not it's not sting. You know what I'm saying? If you figured that was still >> Yeah, that's what I'm saying. >> Once they go into damage for the system of the store, >> I did and I did. >> Right. But but then they're damaged. So the cords are cut, it's severed, used. >> See, they never even said that. They never even said that. >> But whatever there's something done to them or it's not going to be >> Yeah, it wasn't working at all. It was water dripping out. >> But you after the dumpster I can't control. >> Right. Right. Right. >> That's let me grab your information. >> Explain to me what >> that's why I had >> what they're saying you did and [clears throat] then you tell me what what you did. >> I just did. [laughter] >> I know. It was he said it was um he said it was people multiple people come to my line and that a lot of stuff wasn't getting rung up or candy bar something was getting rung up and like it was miscommunications on certain hands and just like I say I never worked cash register in any other place so like it may have been a conversation that I may have got thrown off or something like that but I don't feel like I was sto >> he admitted taking the items out of the store but he did not consider it theft because they were all merchandise that was supposed to be destroyed and that same confidence remained even when he confronted the store manager. >> What's the policy on that? Are they >> they're not eligible for the merch is supposed to be damaged and discarded, destroyed to a point where it can't be taken by anyone. That's our policy. >> See, and and my understanding what that is, that was never explained to me. [music] When he just said when it's damaged out, take it to the back. That's all my understanding was. I never was told to cut no cords or anything just like he explained to you outside, which he said I didn't tell him that the cords wasn't cut. I didn't know that. I don't need to speak, but there's an interesting question. They were brand new. They weren't returned. I have cross documents. I'm sure they weren't returned. They were taken directly from a sales pallet from >> Yeah, they were taken up for sale by somebody called me up from the gra. >> What you're saying is I'm talking about the other when he asked me information. I'll give my [snorts] thought as Did you just ask me about the air conditioners that were supposed to be returned? Right. >> I asked you about the ones that were damaged and broken. those too. And then the ones that was called in for me to carry out for someone, I came over to the front. They told me to grab it and take it out for them. After the people that came and got them was in wheelchairs. So I don't know. Y'all never told me to check the receipt or anything like that. If a person called me over the mic and said a person need help carrying this out, keep your level. That's all I do. That's exactly what I did. So if if I'm wrong for that, I take responsibility for that. >> But what was even more shocking was that this was not a one-time incident. And even the short time he had been working there made the situation even more serious. >> So he's been employed here since the 23rd of June. So he's only been here four weeks. So um over the course of four weeks, I have 23 video incidents where he he takes out either by walking out himself, bagging up merchandise himself or having customers come through the line where he would scan a 50 cent candy bar in lie of an air conditioner or a large pillow or something worth value, charge them $300 or $4 and walk out with $2 $300 worth of merchandise. The total that we could prove on video was $3,14 over the last 4 weeks. The day in question, the air conditioners are brand new. There's one female involved that's typically here every time. He says that he doesn't know who he is. I believe it's his wife. >> Well, either way, this the same lady he bag of merchandise up for, gives her, >> walks out with with air conditioners, and this is all happened. The biggest hit was on the I think it was Saturday the 19th. There was almost $1,100 in merchandise that he walked out of the door that he selected from the sales for bagged up and eventually walked out himself in addition to just bagging up for customers. On video, it's unclear so I'm not going to say, but it looks like he was taking cash from customers and that's why they were just bagging up merchandise. As I said, I'm not I'm not he was just bagging up merchandise. He'd actually physically walk out to the cars with them. So, >> because I'm helping them take they got bags of stuff. Why would I not help them take a lot? Typically, as a cashier, you're responsible for scanning merchandise and charging them. There's only two of us working. So, either way, there's old people. Which one do make the old people? >> Is there is there two Is there two people in a couch or something? >> There's only two of us. >> Yeah, there's two. There's two There's two of us in this afternoon. There's nobody else working. Why? >> 23 incidents in just 4 weeks of working there with $3,000 in losses. Clearly, he must have [music] had a motive from the beginning. And it was very possible that there was an organized operation behind it with other people the officers still needed to investigate. >> I'm going to ask you this. Who is the person in the videos? >> I have no clue. >> Who's the female? >> I have no clue. >> I'll be honest. I don't have no clue who that is. Now, if I knew if y'all would to let me go home, I will tell you. I do not know who she >> If I let you go home, you'll tell me. >> I don't know. I said if I knew who she was, I [music] will tell you. >> Look, man. I'm just being honest with you. When this is get when this is going to get transferred over to DB. >> What is DB? >> Detective Bureau and Detective Bureau is going to look into this. They're going to watch the videos. Okay. >> Let me ask you this question >> and they'll they'll they'll eventually identify the woman. >> I'm going to ask you this question >> cuz they're going to come in here. They're going to interview him. They're going to interview all what's up. >> If I find out who she is, can I please go on? My son is in a hospital. >> Not today, man. Do you have any property here you would like to have somebody take? >> No. I have nothing here at the store. >> You've been caught. You've been caught on video doing this. I understand your son's in the hospital. I understand you want to make a call to your wife. I'm allowing you to make a call to your wife right now. >> Keep taking me to the restroom, please. The rest can take Keep walking me to the restroom. I told the restroom. Keep walking right here to the restroom. She's still on the phone. I'm not doing nothing funny. She's still on the phone. She's crying. I'm not lying. Hello. >> I'm not lying. I'm serious. I'm not doing nothing funny, sir. >> All right. Do you mind if I talk to her? >> She She hysterical right now. >> Okay, I understand that. I'm just telling you I'm going to ask her if she's the woman in the video. >> She's not the woman in the video. I can tell you that now. She's not the woman in the video. >> The man was then taken outside for the procedures before being transported to the police station, but he kept stalling, seemingly intending to do something suspicious. >> I'll let you finish your phone call. >> I don't have nothing, man. I don't have nothing. Absolutely nothing. I Hey, just a policy. I just got you. >> Well, you're fine. You're fine. I have no problem with that. >> All right, you're good. Just turn around for me. >> All right. I apologize. I got to put you in c. Okay. I'm trying to be respectful here. >> I really got to go to jail. >> Seriously, for what? >> All right. You good? Just turn around for me. >> No, cuz I didn't do anything. >> Turn. Don't stop. >> I'm not doing nothing. I'm standing right here. I just want to talk. >> Okay. >> Can I please talk to him for one more second? >> Just turn around for me and place your hands behind your back as if you were one second. I'm not talking one second. >> I've given you enough. >> Okay. I've been courteous. I've been asking one question. Two seconds. Just get him. Just talk for one second >> after I put you in cuffs and put you in the car. >> I'm being detained for what? >> All right. >> I didn't do anything. I swear I didn't do nothing. >> So, you're being arrested for felony theft? >> Felony? >> Felony theft. Okay. If you could please turn around for me. All right. I'm being respectful. Please turn around for me. Place your hand. Place your hands behind. >> He clearly refused to accept the consequences of his own actions. Worse, what he did next was completely unexpected and it would lead to even more charges against him. >> All right. Stop. I'm not doing this. Stop. Stop. I will get up. I'm going get up. I'm going get up. I will get up. I will get up. I will get up. I'mma get up. Stop. I will get up. Lay me up. I will get up. I'mma get up. I will get up, sir. >> Huh? >> I will get up. I promise. I will get up. I will get up. Here. I will get up. Stop. Tell him to stop. >> You're done. >> I got him. I'm going to let him do it. >> Nope. >> No. We ain't talking no more, man. 101 in the car. >> You're about to go sit in the wagon. >> Don't give me you talk oneonone. >> I get it. >> You put me in the car and talk. Can you call an ambulance? >> Yeah, I'm good. >> You call? >> I got one happening ahead. >> Sir, ambulance. >> There's one coming, man. >> Do you you need a band? I think I >> In the end, the man was charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, and obstructing justice. The case later confirmed that his main accomplice was also arrested on the same day. The lesson. Being trusted with a position does not give anyone the right to take advantage of it. Once that trust is abused repeatedly, trying to deny or resist the consequences can only make the situation worse. Let's step away from the stores for a moment and take a look at a theft in a place you wouldn't expect. >> When she went to walk away, she went to that one to try and get that one off, but for some reason, she's decided to keep. >> I'm not doing it no more. Never ever. I swear to God, I put man in the bott. On the evening of the 21st of April, 2024, police received a call reporting a theft. But this time, the location was anything but expected. The victim said several items had disappeared from her loved ones grave. What made it even more disturbing was that these were old items worth far more emotionally than financially. The victim then listed them for the officer. >> So, what what's all missing off the >> poles right here? >> Yes, ma'am. I had like three uh these kind of poles stuck in the ground and they had solar bugs, different type of solar bugs on them. And then down there by her flower vase, I had a little uh solar rooster. >> Okay. How much total do you think you paid for all those autumns? >> I had probably $35. There's my rooster. There's my purple one. There's my yellow one. I walked this whole cemetery. You ain't found them. >> Okay. >> They're probably going to come back. They're probably going to come back and see what I put out here. >> Have y'all had anything missing before? >> No, mama. I just put her here uh December. >> Okay. >> I come at least a couple times a week to just rake and clean up. Last weekend when I was here, that's when I noticed the rooster. Well, I was pissed. I was I was through the roof right then. I was hot. >> So, I left. >> Very understandable. >> We have a camera. We're going to go tomorrow. So when it does go off, what do you need us to do? >> Just call us. But just >> what are we allowed to do if this is like our property? >> I mean, >> just call us. So cuz I don't want it to turn into something larger than what it needs to be. >> This right here's got me pissed and I'm ready. I'm ready to hurt somebody. >> I understand completely. >> I don't give a damn. Those things right there, they're a dollar, but you aren't going to come up here and touch them because I put them there for my mama. The case was reportedly worth only about $1 and appeared to be put on hold, but the victim's family had no intention of giving up. One year later, police were called back to the cemetery, but this time the family had come prepared. My mom died in 23 and it started right after we put her here. Somebody come out and stole a bunch of my solar stuff that I had put out. We put my stepdad here in February. He wasn't here but just a few weeks and we my mom had bought him an old farm truck. It was a bird feeder. The lady when she first got here, she was messing with my my flowers. >> She's much too old to be doing stuff like this. >> The victim even set up a camera in a tree to catch the suspect if she returned and did it again. What the camera captured proved they had made the right decision. When she went to walk away, she went to that one to try and get that one off. But for some reason, she's decided to keep going once she couldn't pull. >> Oh, I'm pretty Where's the camera sitting? >> I'm sorry. Hold on. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. This actually This should be pretty easy. They got video of it. >> I'm shaking. I'm so pissed. >> She either has somebody that's in this cemetery cuz >> she's either out here or she's just one of the little scumbs that wants to ride around cemeteries and steal it. It's unbelievable at people that do that. My sister's calling and she was like, "That [ __ ] just walked off with the tractor." I was like, "What?" And she was like, "She just walked off with the tractor." And I like, and we even tied them. Look. >> We even put uh rope around them trying to make it to where it would be harder. >> You don't think she put her hands on anything that I might be able to pull a print off of, do you? >> I don't know. But yeah, she was here trying to get this these out. At night time, they all blink. >> Oh, that's cute. But she's going to come back. >> Yeah. >> I'm not putting up with this. This is my mom's and my stepdad's resting place. >> Well, there's nothing lower than stealing from >> people to come into a cemetery and do this is >> that's low. That's low. That's very low. >> Like I said, she could have all my other stuff. And >> I'm pressing charges >> cuz this this is crazy. Now, am I allowed to post a picture of her like on Facebook asking anybody if they know her? >> Facebook. >> Three days later, the suspect was identified and brought to the police station for questioning, but strangely, she seemed unable to give any clear explanation for why she committed the act. >> I'll be right with you. Sure. >> I can already tell you kind of feel bad about this, right? Um, but like we said earlier, honesty is going to be key, right? being truthful, being honest about the whole situation. >> Yeah. >> You know, we're adults. We do things wrong. Sometimes it's not our intentions to, you know, >> I don't know why I did it. I thought >> Yeah. So, I got to read this. With these rights in mind, are you willing to talk to me? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Do you have a twin? So, no one looks like you. You're the only person that looks like you. The marking on your arm. Uh, could you show that to me again? That's a um I crawled under the trailer when I lived up there and I had a big rose bush. Well, I had to crawl under the trailer to help fix my sub. When I did, there's a big old thorn in there. >> Wow. >> And I just didn't have it dug out. >> Okay. Does that Does that hurt? Does that make >> It's like it's starting to affect me a little bit. I'm going to have to eventually have it cut off. But yeah, it don't bother me or nothing. >> Oh, don't touch it. >> It's been there probably 20 something years. >> Wow. Wow. Okay. That's that's that's interesting. Yeah. Throw it in there. It don't hurt. See? >> Yeah. Don't do that now. I don't know. >> Come on. See, mama wanted to see it before she died to come out and she tried to pick it. It would never come out. Okay. >> So, I'm going to have to have it. Lance. >> Yeah. So, you know why we're here. Why are we here? cuz I was speaking >> from where >> the cemetery. >> It was difficult to understand why the woman couldn't explain why she did it, especially when she could clearly remember how many times she had taken items and exactly what she had taken. >> How many times have you been to that area and got stuff from that area? >> Probably like three to four times. >> Three or four times. >> Do you remember the items that you got? >> I got three books. Mhm. >> We got a tractor. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> Well, two two tractors. Well, you got a a truck and then a tractor. >> Got a tractor. >> The truck the burn feet. >> Oh, yeah. It's still at the house. >> Uhhuh. >> It's hanging in the tree. [snorts] >> And what else? >> That's all I can think of. >> So, what kind of walk me through it? Like what what >> I don't know what happened. I really thought he was in the hospital. I was just down, I guess. I don't know. I have no family down here. I don't know. I don't know what made me do it. I really don't >> mean I'm being honest. I don't know. >> Mhm. >> The truck still at house. [snorts] I'll [clears throat] bring it in. I don't honestly I don't know. >> You don't know what? >> I don't know why I did it. I don't have you. >> I'm sorry I did it. Honestly, I wasn't raised like that. I don't know. >> I understand. Um, we all sometimes do things that uh are not characteristics of us. >> The woman appeared older and seemed to present herself as remorseful and vulnerable, though it was unclear whether she was deliberately trying to gain sympathy. Meanwhile, she was still careful to confirm exactly how many times she had committed the acts. >> So, how you've you've been to that cemetery four or five times, but you've taken yourself twice. >> Um, no. Three times. >> Three times. >> Three times. >> So, what did you take the first time? >> I took that truck. No, the the beans things. And then I took [clears throat] the truck and then that. Did you take anything from anywhere else? >> Not that I know of. >> Those those items were just the ones that interested you. >> Yeah, I guess. >> What' you like about them? >> They were pretty. Now I'm afraid. Not right. Have you ever took something from somebody else's graveyard besides that one particular one? >> It's been in trouble before, but it's been that one girl got me for that little bear thing over in Pala Cemetery. >> What happened? What happened with that one? I'm I'm not familiar. I went through and I'm saying to myself, I found an owl. It was cute. I said I took it, but I got in trouble for it. >> An owl? I thought you said a bear. >> Well, owl thing. It was owl. Like a f owl or something. >> The So where did the bear come from? Was that the same? >> That's what I've been. That was owl. I'm sorry. Somebody got me. She got me. She talked. She pressed her. or I get in trouble. >> Additionally, it was later confirmed that the woman had a history of similar behavior, something she eventually admitted herself. >> So, you've been arrested before for stealing from the cemetery. >> Is that one thing? No. >> How long ago was this? >> About 5 years? No. Been longer than that. I'm not doing it no more. Never ever. I swear to God. I put man on nothing else. Ain't mine. Was it you just getting away with it? Kind of something that >> No, I feel like trouble about it eventually. I don't know why I did it. >> I honestly don't. >> What was the result from you stealing the at the Palaka cemetery? What >> I had to I had um pay $800, but I've returned it. [clears throat] >> Did you serve any jail time? >> No. I hope I ain't got it. You think I will? What is this? >> A wheel. >> Mhm. >> Why? >> Cuz it's a it's a crime. You can't you can't go stealing stuff from a graveyard. >> I know it. [laughter] >> So, like I said, we're adults. Um some things that we do has a consequence, right? Like every action has a reaction. And and I understand that may not be you as a person or [snorts] I'm not characteristic characterizing you as being that type of person. But in the end, the woman was charged with a felony offense for injuring or moving a tomb or monument. She was sentenced to 2 months in prison, fined $1,70.50, and placed on probation for 2 years. The lesson. Sentimental items placed on a grave may have little monetary value, but taking them can still carry serious consequences. A past warning or similar offense does not make the next one less serious. Next, this man was caught red-handed over nothing more than a sandwich. >> Okay. >> Yeah, you already know why. >> You already know why. Where'd you get that sub from? Put that down. On the 7th of June 2026, police were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a retail theft at the store. The suspect was reportedly a man who fled after taking about $57 worth of merchandise. But luckily, the store employee had images identifying the suspect. >> Did he get today? >> About $57. >> Okay, let me let me see that. >> Yeah, if it makes any difference, I can get your receipt from the other day, too. But >> um yeah, why not? Hold on. Let's get in the shade. >> Yeah. Okay. Um, yeah, let's get the receipts. Um, how long ago did he leave? >> About 30 minutes. >> Okay. >> I got this box here. 11:16. >> Okay. >> No, that was Sorry, that's that's right now. >> It was 10:53. Sorry. >> Okay. So, when the call came in Yeah. Okay. I hadn't seen him before except for like, you know, a few days ago. So, I'm surprised how you got caught, huh? >> Um, well, that's where I saw him last was C. So, that's I'm assuming. Yeah. So, >> the store staff also provided CCTV footage confirming the suspect's movements in and out of the store along with additional details that helped identify the man >> coming in. >> Okay. >> Oh, 1040. >> This is a good time to see his bike, too. [snorts] >> It's a blue huffy bike. >> Okay. Like a light blue. >> Yeah. Let me actually take a picture of that. >> Sure. Yeah, >> we I'm going to send it out. >> This might help. >> Well, I don't know if that's better for you. [snorts] >> Oh, yeah. [snorts] >> Never seen a trim step on a bicycle before. It's first time for everything. All right. So, here's uh here's him coming in. a [ __ ] stamp [snorts] for >> for lack of a better termination. Um, I'm going to go over here. That's 1040. >> There he is. There. Okay. >> Comes over. >> He comes in with a bag. >> Yeah, he came in with that bag. That's the same bag he used to conceal product the last time, too. It's >> like a burlap reusable bag. >> Show me how. >> It's pretty quick. It's like maybe eight minutes altogether. No big deal. >> Him still online waiting for a sub. >> So he he got a sub today. >> Yeah. >> Okay. [snorts] >> Okay. So he grabs a sub, puts it in the bag. >> I see that. Okay. >> Got a water bottle. I don't even I didn't even watch this part. I don't know what he got. >> A soda. >> Looks like he fills up a container or Yeah, >> it look cuz that middle part portion is just for ice. Looks like he just took ice. Just fine. I didn't put anything above that on this. >> Okay. >> And then so this is when he's coming towards the front speedway. 10:46 and he travels along the front speedway. >> Oh, gets a drink. >> Yeah, I didn't add that. >> Meanwhile, officers found the suspect attempting to use the items he had stolen. He was immediately taken into custody, leaving him with little room to refuse. >> Come on. >> Yeah, you already know why. >> You already know why. Where'd you get that sub from? Put that down. Get up. Come with me. Put the bottle down. Leave it right there. Come on. >> Um, do you guys want to press charges? >> Yes, please. >> Okay. 67 Publix doesn't want to press charges, so it's going to be a 10:15. I'm >> being delicate with my verge. Does this eliminate your hands-on approach? >> Oh, >> you're [laughter] good. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Nice. All right. So, now he comes over here to the pharmacy and I got to switch DVRs. 1046. >> You said it against my car. >> What's your first name? >> Uh, Craig. >> Craig. Date of birth. >> 72078. >> 72078. >> Yeah. Florida ID. >> Yeah. >> Do you have an ID on you? >> Uh, yeah. >> Two bottles of cold and flu. >> No. >> I could I couldn't identify what that was. Some sort of maybe allergy medication cuz that's a that's pretty much all that there. >> Okay. >> All right. Now, let's get him leaving. That's 10:47. So, that's when we start walking [clears throat] here. >> Okay. When is he heading back to the entrance he came in from? >> Exactly where [snorts] that's where he parked his bike. So there he is. >> The police then recovered the remaining stolen items while continuing the arrest process. >> This >> is not cuz this is what he stole. >> Okay. I'm sorry. Heat. Heat. All right, sir. Turn this way. You have anything illegal on you? No. >> Anything's going to poke me or stick me? >> The man showed no shame or remorse for his actions. He even deliberately tried to lie to the officer afterward. >> And this is your current address? >> Yeah. >> All right. Where do you work at? >> I don't work. >> You don't work? Is that what you steal? Um, >> so you don't have an email address. How do you register your phone to stuff? >> I just >> cuz you need an email address to register any anything to your phone. So >> I I just let it update. >> I don't register for anything. >> Right. But you need an email address to register your phone. Just to turn it on, you need to enter an email address. It's any phone nowadays. >> No, I don't. >> Yeah, you do. So obviously you're lying to me. So we establish you're a thief and a liar. Okay. >> They take it the store management takes it into account sometimes if you uh just write an apology letter. Is that something you're willing to do? >> Uh yeah. >> All right. You just put it down there. Right. going. Just got to make sure I read. So, I'm sorry I took some night while I was sick and hungry. Sorry. All right. >> In the end, the man was charged with retail theft. He pleaded guilty to petty theft [music] in the second degree and was sentenced to 30 days in county jail with credit for 12 days already served. The lesson: Stealing may seem minor, but lying to officers only makes the situation worse. When the evidence already shows what happened, denying the obvious can quickly destroy any chance of taking responsibility. Next, this man also pretended to be a mechanic to steal thousands of dollars worth of car parts. >> Crime? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. what kind of crew? >> And then he returns he buys parts on those accounts and then >> has them returned onto his personal card. >> On the 14th of June 2025, police received a report of a fraudulent return at an auto parts store. When officers arrived, one suspect was reportedly inside the store carrying out the scheme, while another person appeared to be waiting in the car to help with the getaway. Here's what happened next. >> Oh, it stinks. That's the car right there. Yeah. Sounds like there's somebody inside. >> It's moving inside. >> Yeah. You want to >> Yeah. Can I go inside this back window down for me? >> Back window down. >> Right down. All right. >> What the hell? >> Just hang tight. Hang tight. Hang tight. Hang tight. Just be entertained for a second. Okay. >> Whoa. >> Anything on your person I need to worry about? >> You're taking a minute. >> Hold up. >> You're just being detained right now, man. >> All right. That's all. You're not under arrest. We're just detaining you right now for >> investigating a a crime, man. That's a >> crime. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> What kind of crew? >> We'll let you know in case you >> We'll talk to you. We'll talk to you. >> We got time to talk, right? >> All right. >> What the hell? >> Stay in the shade. >> Yeah. We're not going to take you anywhere, man. We're just going to talk to you. But for my safety, I'm going to hold on to you like this. All right. >> What kind of crime? >> What kind of crime? >> A fraud crime. >> Huh? >> A fraud crime. >> A fraud crime? What you mean fraud? >> A fried crunch. >> What's fraud? What you mean? >> I'm going put this right on top of here. Right on top here. >> You got any idea? Any bud? >> That pocket? Mind if I just go grab it? >> I think it's in the car. >> It's in the car. >> ID. >> He's saying he doesn't have ID. It's in the car supposedly. Where at? Meanwhile, an officer stepped inside the store to look into the concerns reported by the employees. >> He's been doing fraudulent transactions on accounts that don't contain. So, we have professional accounts that have their cards on file or charge accounts. >> How's he getting that information though? >> That's the question. So, yesterday we did witness him. He came in here. We had one of our invoices up here. He took it. When one of the reps went to grab a park, he took the paper and that's how he gets access to the account numbers. These accounts have cards on file and he charges them with a rep in the front and then he goes to a different store to return it onto his personal phone. >> Okay. So, what did he like what kind of exchange did he do here? >> He usually buys parts and sells them like not buy he buys them and returns them in his cards. >> Okay. Where does he return them at? here or somewhere else. >> He can go any advance >> any advanced auto part when it comes to a commercial account. >> Okay. >> He can go back to any store and return it as long as he has the receipt and the part, >> but it seems like he's been editing them where it shows an actual debit card on file. >> Okay. >> Rather than the literal account that it was charged on. Okay. >> So, he's somehow getting receipts, >> using the information off the receipt to use other people's accounts. >> Yes. >> And then he returns he buys cards on those accounts and then >> has them returned onto his personal card. >> Yeah. >> Okay. These employees appeared to know exactly how the suspects had been carrying out the scheme and they had also prepared compelling evidence that would be difficult to dispute. fraudulent checks. >> Yeah. >> Did you make a complaint then about that? >> We did. We had um Detective Cassini on it. >> We didn't see him for a while. So this is the charge account that it goes out for for 1,256. This was one This was one of the transaction IDs and then this was a different transaction for 1,212 charged from an account from Georgia. and then he has them returned onto his debit card. >> Okay. So, this is the the account you're speaking of is >> Tire and Wheels. Have you made contact with them to find out if this gentleman works for them? >> The he does not work for them. Yeah. The corporate corporate reach out for us for that. >> They they reached out to you guys about it. >> This account realized that the their account was being charged. >> Okay. So once the account realized that it was being charged, once they look internally, they see what stores it's being charged at that it was never given permission to be charged. >> But he's been coming off as if the account was his. >> So has he done any of the returns over here or has he just been buying over here? >> No, he's done returns here. >> Okay. Do you have those transactions? >> Yeah, this is one of them. >> This is a transaction where he returned it to his personal card. >> Mhm. And then he did one yesterday as well. >> Okay. So, these are all the times that he bought stuff. Is this a return? >> This one is a return. Yes. >> Okay. >> This is the one from yesterday. >> Okay. >> Back to the suspect. It was becoming difficult for him to deny his actions. At this point, he could no longer dispute what the officer was telling him. >> All right. Sir, >> is that you got to look out on your uh on the internet thing, >> sir Arthur? >> Yes, sir. >> This is how it works, man. >> And there's no denying this. This is how it works. >> You've been charging a company for parts and then you've been returning them back to your card. There's no there's no debate about this. It's fact. We have the paperwork saying that you done this. So, what is going on, man? Why are you doing this? I did that one time. >> You doing it more than one time, sir. I got the paperwork in my hand right here. >> Like literally there there's no >> there's no guessing on this one, man. Like we got video, we got the literal receipts saying that you've been charging a company who you don't work for for parts and then returning them to a personal card that belongs to you. There's no ifs, and or buts about it. So, what's going on, man? Why are we doing this? I heard you're on parole. What are you on parole for? >> You're on You You were on probation or still on probation? >> I'm off probation. >> You're off? >> Okay. What was that for? >> Huh? >> Oh, okay. So, something similar to what we're talking about right now. >> No, they say I had silent people, >> right? That's what uttering is. But it's still along the same lines of of fraud. You understand that, right? If you use someone else's information, purchase something with their information, and then you return it for cash to yourself, that that becomes fraud. >> Under pressure from the officer, the man was forced to admit his actions as well as the method he had used to carry them out. >> Get all the people everybody cuz he tripping. Nope. Yo, you got to go to your ses app. Oh my. >> Yeah, go to your sister's app. That's how I I I got a discount with why I said they they ain't like I I just know number thing. Sometime you ask for a discount, they give you like they put a name in for >> So they put a name in on a discount >> and they give you a discount. That's how I got the the number and stuff. >> Okay. Okay. So, you got their personal information to utilize to make purchases. >> No, that's the thing though. You see what I'm saying? Like when you go in there and you get them a commercial account and they do that they >> tomorrow. He talk about June 13th, but it don't really matter. You can call six. >> Yes, you can you can you can you can see thing any any time. You can do it now you want to. >> So, yeah. That's that why I said I don't understand like what they >> I mean do you have the credit card still on you my man? >> So that's where all the money's going back to. Is that one of your cards they have on your possession? >> No. >> Yeah. Cuz you make uh returns on your card. >> On them two purses there. Right. Where was it? Two purchases. Right. >> Hm. It was two purchases, right? >> Two persons. What? >> It was two purchases, right? They talking about, right? Two person, right? Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Okay. Listen, that's what I'm saying. When I get in the name, I never told them to put anything. You know what I'm saying? >> So, you're telling me that these kind of folks let you use someone else's information to buy stuff? >> No. What I'm telling you, listen, what I'm telling you is see, okay, look, see how I come and I give them give them a number. I thought I was buying my You get what I'm saying? If they add it, however, they did it. Okay. >> He seemed to show no remorse whatsoever. Meanwhile, police confirmed that he had previously visited the store on several different days, apparently to plan the scheme. >> There's all paperwork right here. Appreciate it. >> Oh, trying to get the master disaster to lay it out for us. >> Hey, Sergeant Officer Jul. >> I'm at a call. It's a 53 in progress at AutoZone. Uh, the defendant or the suspect is coming in. He's been here on June 8th and 9th yesterday and he attempted a transaction today. But basically what he's doing is he has a green ledger filled with documents filled with accounts of owners like actual shops mechanics like tax exempt from Georgia, Florida. So he's coming in and he's purchasing items using those accounts and then he's calling in ahead and asking if the manager is in. And if the manager is not in, he comes in and he returns the items to his personal debit card. >> Don't worry, I I explicitly told him he's not on an arrest or anything like that. Okay. So, >> everything is still play by ear so that way we can make whatever direction that we need to make. >> In the end, the man was charged with grand theft and sentenced to 366 days in prison followed by 2 years of probation. The lesson. A sophisticated scheme can unravel quickly when transaction records and repeated store visits expose a clear pattern. Trying to shift the blame does not erase the evidence or the consequences. >> Turn around. >> Turn around. >> HE'S GOING TO BREAK my hand. >> On the 29th of March 2022, officers approached the woman after she was suspected of being involved in a theft. She was reportedly trying to leave despite being stopped by an employee, but the officers did not expect the situation to escalate shortly afterward. >> Can I help you? >> Yeah. Go and put your stuff on my hood for me, please. >> Excuse me. >> Put your stuff on my >> You going to ask why? >> Because I've got to figure out if you're the one taking stuff from over here. >> Oh, figure out. Really? >> DON'T EVEN >> NO, I'M NOT A PROSTITUTE. I'M not a prostitute. I'm not a prostitute. You don't want to turn around. >> No. >> Turn around. >> He's going to break my hand. [screaming] He's going to break my hand. >> GET [screaming] OFF OF ME. >> TURN AROUND. >> GET OFF OF ME. Get out. [screaming] >> Turn around. >> Get off. GET OUT. >> [screaming] >> HE'S TAKING MY RING. HE'S GETTING IN MY RING. >> NO. YOU >> stop moving. [screaming] >> Shut the Keep going. >> [screaming and groaning] >> 9. [screaming] She's the one. Immediately after being handcuffed, the woman was taken to the police vehicle. She clearly refused to accept what had happened and continued making things difficult for the officers during their questioning. >> Why does it matter? >> Why even ask those questions? Why the does it matter? >> Need to know if you want medical. >> Why does it matter? >> Appreciate it. Stand up. >> I think I've just sent you. >> Stand right here. >> Why? >> So I can take pictures of you. >> I don't need to. >> Well, I have to take pictures. Go ahead. >> No. That way you can laugh at me. >> No. Nobody's laughing at you. >> Whatever. Those pictures are used to laugh at me. >> No, it's not. >> Why are you taking with the phone? Huh? >> BECAUSE >> YOU'RE HELPING CHRISTINA take over my properties. You're helping Christina. You went over there to kick my ass. You forgot that [ __ ] Huh? >> The woman was completely out of control while the store employee provided further testimony about her strange behavior earlier. >> The cooler, she was like talking to herself and like falling into the cooler and she started walking. She has like a bunch of food items. I asked her, I was like, "Are you okay?" >> I'm like, "Yeah, it's just food, but like I want to trespass, you know, are you okay?" And she was just like older or younger. >> I don't know with the acne. She probably is younger but looks older. Hey, we just got a call for a shoplifting. That's all it was. >> No, it wasn't cuz you didn't even tell me anything at all. >> Okay, I'm telling you. >> Hey, what the ever? >> Did you start running? >> No. >> She's like, "No, I'm going to pay for this." She's like, "You're the cop. You can't stop me." I was like, "Actually, I'm not. That would be a cool job. Like, that' be fun." And so, she walks out and then I was like, "You can't pay for that." And she's like, "Well, no." I was like, "You know, it's fine. We're already on the phone with the cops." So, >> that's when she took out and started walking and started screaming and whatever. She screamed. Are you guys able to record the video right now or not? >> Um, I could try. >> Yeah, if you can and then I'll give you in just a second. >> Ma'am, can you stop? I'm telling you. >> NO, I CANNOT. NO. >> I'M trying to ask you about it. >> No. >> So, you don't want to talk to me? >> No. >> Okay, perfect. >> She wasn't wanting to cooperate. So, I was trying to get her to the ground. She swung me swung and hit me on the right side of the face. >> All right. >> Yeah. Not hard. >> More irritating than anything. She's spitting her chips everywhere and [ __ ] know me. What's your first you don't want to know who the I am. That's what makes me who I am. That's what I'm ask. You don't want to get to know ME AS A PERSON. SO THAT'S NOT MY IDENTITY THAT YOU'RE ASKING FOR. YOU'RE JUST ASKING for a NAME AND A BIRTHDAY. A NUMBER. YOU PUT ME DOWN AS A NUMBER AND NOT AS A PERSON. >> OKAY. So what's your first name? All right. You're going to be charged with concealing identity. I tried to give you a chance. >> I'm going to find SOMETHING THAT DRIVES ME LESS. She showed no signs of calming down and even when the officers attempted to search her, the process remained difficult. >> What the stealing my [ __ ] THEY'RE STEALING MY THEY'RE STEALING [screaming] MY They're stealing my >> So, it's going to go in this bag because you're under arrest. >> NO, THEY'RE DOING IT AT THE DETENTION CENTER. NO, NO, [screaming] NO. GET THE OFF OF ME. >> You cheap ass. I for your women. Then all you having me DOWN FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. YOU'LL BE PASSED ON WITH NO ONE EVER MAKING YOU HAPPY. Ever get my bootstrap card. You sit down. >> That's my bootstrap card. You get nothing here. Nothing. >> Yeah. Oh, >> I know the food for sure. And it's probably like >> Yeah, that's ours. Did she eat them? >> She started eating them. That's part of what she was spitting all over me. >> She spit that on you? >> Yeah. Well, she was in the middle of munching when I stopped her, so she was yelling and carrying on. And >> I don't know if anyone lives in her purse. >> What's She still >> probably breaking in a vehicle. >> Even after arriving at the police station, the officers gave her another opportunity to cooperate, but once again, she refused, putting herself at risk of facing additional charges. >> You want to give us your name and date of birth now >> or do you want to take the charge? >> What charge? >> For concealing. >> That is not a charge. >> Concealing. >> That is not a charge. >> You're lawful. >> That is not a charge. >> Gave you a lawful. >> That is not a charge. All right. >> That you're making that [ __ ] up. >> You're going to be charged with identity. >> Making it up. >> All I need is your birthday. >> You're making it up. But my birthday Why do you mean my birthday? >> Okay. To identify you because you're a suspect in a crime. >> What crime? >> For shoplifting and bad police officer. That's what you're being [ __ ] >> [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] >> You give me your harassing me. >> If we give you >> You're harassing me. >> Okay. So, you're being arrested. >> Concealing identity as well. >> I'm being arrested. >> The woman was charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, concealing identity, and battery upon a peace officer. Refusing to cooperate can quickly turn a minor situation into a much more serious legal problem. Once officers have lawful grounds to detain someone, [music] resisting or escalating the situation only creates additional consequences. >> Guy trying to get the stop, he pushes him or something and then he smacks him. Does he have no repercussions for slapping me across the face >> because you walked up to him? >> On the 30th of September 2025, officers were dispatched to Walmart after receiving a report of a battery. The suspect was accused of tearing up another man's petition paperwork while he was collecting signatures. To better understand what happened, let's hear the victim's account of the incident. >> Hello, sir. >> Hello. >> Would you mind coming talk to me over here? So, I was petitioning right here and I had a gentleman actually signing. So, while I was signing, I pitched that guy that's in there. So, he came, grabbed my board, >> tore up all my paperwork in front of me, and then I was like, "Dude, what are you doing?" So, I went and said, "Hey, what are you doing?" So, he pushed my hand and that's when I pushed him. So, then he said he I assaulted him. So, I'm like, "Bro, how you how assaulted you if you coming over here and you're you're tearing up my paperwork?" >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, I mean, I'm like, "I don't know what's going on with him." Do you want to go try to contact the RP? Do you have your ID on you? Is that for me? >> What does that guy look like? He's right there. >> The officer then contacted the suspect who remained completely calm and claimed that he was actually the victim. >> Hello, Officer. >> Good. How are you? >> He's going to explain to you. >> Yeah. So, I'm not sure why this guy hasn't been trespassed off the property yet. Walmart told me that they tried to get him picked off three times. >> Okay. What happened today? So I went up and uh he handed me a petition and I ripped uh one of the pages and then he came up and slapped me across the face. >> Okay. So he came from behind the table, walked around and slapped me. >> No, no, no. I came up to the table like on this on the short side of the table right there. >> Exiting? >> Yeah, I was exiting. >> Okay. >> Um I came up to the table, he handed me a position. I ripped the petition and then uh he used his left hand to slap me across the uh the side of my face. >> Did you say anything? >> Yeah. Just yell at me. I don't remember exactly what he said. >> Okay. You have your ID? >> Yep. >> So, obviously my partner was still We got a call. You didn't call, right? >> No, he called. >> Yeah, he called. >> He called when the store called. >> Okay. Um, so all we got in our initial call was that he he claimed that he got hit in the face by somebody. >> So I had like I had somebody sign it, >> right? The guy actually the the state trooper got his information. The guy was waiting. >> Okay. >> And he'll tell you everything. We were standing right there and the like I said, dude just came out of nowhere and just I pitched him. He's just >> Okay. I'm like >> And was this for things that were already signed or can I see it? >> Okay. Interesting. >> All right. The suspect accused the victim of assaulting him instead. Officers then confronted the victim about the allegation. And once again, the two accounts of what had happened were completely different. >> I pitched him. I said, "We're trying to stop boys from getting in girls sports. What he did was he took my boys, split it, and then pushed it in front of me." >> Okay. >> And that's when I retaliated. There was a guy standing right here. The dude said, "Dude, what are you doing? If you didn't agree with it, you didn't have to tear up the paperwork." He was like, "Oh, yeah. Well, if you want to if you want to hit me again, I'll call the police." So I said, "You know what? Call the police." Cuz he said, "Oh, you just assaulted me. Go ahead and call the police because this doesn't make any sense." >> So when you say you retaliated, what do you mean by that? >> So when he he pushed the uh the board to me and that's when I pushed him back. >> Okay. So just like pushed him to get away. >> Yeah, cuz he was he was literally in my face. I'm I was standing right here. You were standing like literally right here in my face. So >> look at the cameras real quick, too. >> Yeah, >> cuz he's saying that you slapped him in the face. >> Yeah. No, I did. I I but that's after he pushed me. That's after he pushed me in my boards. >> Okay. >> So, it's just in retaliation. >> Gotcha. >> Yeah. >> Simply listening to the statements from those involved was not enough. The officers asked Walmart's loss prevention team for assistance and reviewed the surveillance footage of what had happened. >> You can't really see cuz they're in a weird spot. Okay. This is But you can see this is him >> starts ripping it up right there. guy trying to get a stop. He pushes him or something and then he smacks him >> cuz it kind of looks like he almost does a swing at him. >> He did a little thing like that, >> right? And he just missed, >> right? >> All right, we'll be right back. >> So, we we took a look at the video. Based on what I saw, I mean, it looks like he was kind of the aggressor in this situation. You were just kind of pushing. >> I was trying to listen the whole time cuz I'm not going to lie. I don't know if you guys seen it on the news. We've been getting a lot of flax for this and this is a lot of people think it's against transgender and it's not. What it is is basically making sure uh we protect girls and girls sports. So what's been happening if you guys watch the Olympics, you seen two transgenders like uh >> competing for Yeah. Well, I got you. So one one thing I just want to get at is we're going to see if Walmart just wants to like trespass him, get him off the property. >> Okay. Would you want to go any further than that and like pursue any >> Yeah. because man make him so he doesn't try to do this with any other other people because this like how am I going to turn that in? So now I got to sit down and I got to try to >> pace this up so that it can go through so that they can actually count this towards getting it on the ball. >> Yeah. And honestly like one of the problems we're running into is like I feel like that's got to be a crime somehow. I I just I just don't know which one it is. Right. So we're kind of looking a little bit to see >> Yeah. Cuz this is it's it this it's crazy, man. Look at this. What's happening is whatever group they're in, they're actually they're on Facebook. So they telling them that wherever locations were at, hey, they're they're at this location. This is what's going on with them. >> Okay. Yeah. But I'll pursue it. >> The officers had a clear understanding of what had happened. And shortly afterward, they explained their decision to both parties. >> Um but we're also going to give him a trespass. So we're going to make sure that he leaves the property up. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Cuz I'm going I'm going leave. I'm going to leave too cuz I >> I had too many people calling like, "Yo, are you okay?" I'm like, "Yeah, I'm okay. I'm not sure. Just like I was like way out of I'm like, man." >> All right. You want to talk to this guy? >> All right, David. >> There's your ID back. So, what's going to happen today is the first thing is they are going to have you trespasser. They want you to come back onto Walmart property. So, this is a trespass notice that's valid for 3 years from today's date. If you come back, you >> risk being arrested. >> Uh, I'm not. Yeah, it's just this one. >> What? So, I'll have you sign that real quick. >> Is he going to be trespassed? >> Nope. >> I'll explain that in there. That's your copy. This is going to be a criminal citation for you for malicious mischief. All right. So on the top here, you're going to have a court date. >> All right. Do >> you have any other questions? >> The officer's decision did not seem to satisfy the man. He questioned the officers, [music] insisting that he wanted the victim to face punishment just as he did. >> I I want to know why he can slap me across the face and have no repercussions. >> Why does he have no repercussions for slapping me across the face? because you walked up to him, took his property, ripped it, and then pushed him, and he responded by defending himself. >> I did not push him. >> Okay. The video shows otherwise, and you damage his property. >> I did not push him. >> Okay. Well, you damaged his property, and there was some kind of altercation prior to >> him slapping me across the face. >> Can I tell you something? You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can or will be used against you in the court of law. You can exercise this right at any time. >> Do you want to keep talking? He slapped me across the face. >> Okay. Okay. Why did you rip up the documents right in front of him, the signatures? And why did you shove it right into his chest? >> That's what it looks to be in the video. So, why did you do that? >> I was I'm I'm not going to answer. >> Okay. You don't have to answer, but you do have to leave the property. >> I just >> I just want to know why he's not being like >> he just gets away with it. >> No, he doesn't get away with it. But you are trespassing. I would like to speak to a sergeant. >> That's not going to happen today. You can call. >> You have to leave the >> If you refuse to leave, we're going to arrest you. >> This is ridiculous. I mean, like, >> are you kidding me? >> You can explain all at your court date, but you need to leave the property. >> In the end, the man was charged with malicious mischief, issued a scheduled court date, and trespassed from Walmart for 3 years. Destroying someone else's property and provoking a confrontation can quickly turn you from a complainant into the person facing criminal charges. Actions matter more than claims, and surveillance footage often determines what really happened. >> Don't go in your pants. Just >> I'm not going in my pants. >> You were just going in your pants. Don't be >> I don't have anything in my pants. >> I know you didn't pay for it, so where'd it come from? >> Serious. >> Which one? >> I don't. >> On the 3rd of October 2024, police pursued a woman after she attempted to flee Target following an alleged shoplifting incident. She even tried to remove the items while her escape was failing, which immediately made the officer suspicious of her behavior. >> What are you taking off your sweater for? Put your sleeves back on. >> Put your sleeves back on. >> This is not even yours. >> Yeah, that's it. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Stop. Stop. Stop. >> What do you want done here? >> Uh, basically referred to you guys to take her and I need her for information. >> Take her. You want her arrested? cereal. I don't have any. >> No, I don't have any. That's a t-shirt. >> You left everything as soon as you ran >> by the kids. But I gave it back to you. >> Don't tense up, please. >> I gave it back. >> Yeah, like I was trying to stop her and she just took off. >> Yeah, but I gave it back in the car. >> Your car? >> We got these? No, not we. We got a container now. >> Yeah, I have t-shirts. >> T-shirts. Take them out for >> And she also like stuffed a bunch of stuff in like >> That's it. Sure. >> Here. How about you put your hands behind your back right now? >> All right. >> I'm saying like >> stop. >> Okay. >> Why you pull away from me for this? >> I didn't pull away. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> I don't know. We can get one over here. Stop. Stop. >> And I have >> Okay. Can you stop moving? I have nothing. >> While recovering the merchandise from the woman, the officers found another suspicious item which could have resulted in additional charges against her. >> I didn't. Can you head over to the target? >> Put it up. I don't want >> I What's in there? >> Huh? What's in there? >> White residue. >> That's not mine. >> That's not yours. You were holding on to the keys right now. Get another piece off. >> Yeah, I think I might have one. >> What's in there? >> Is it co heroin? >> All right. >> I know this job a long time. Is it cocaine? >> Yes. >> We need to know so we're safe and you're safe. Is it coin? >> That's correct. >> I don't think it's no more in there. There's some in there. >> There's some in there. >> Yes. >> You got any more of that? I need >> No. >> Okay. >> I'm going to come over here and we're going to find it. >> Is there more in the car? >> No. >> No. Are you sure? >> Yes. >> When's the last time you used? >> Earlier today. >> You're sweating your ass off. When the last time you used >> I was running. I was trying to cuz he was going to >> He's going to pee. Stop. Don't go in your pants. Just >> I'm not going. >> You were just going in the bank. >> I don't have anything in my pants. I have >> Keep your hands. Try going into the bank. >> In addition to the merchandise recovered from her, the officers also found items from another store, raising suspicions that this was not the first theft she had committed that day. They confronted her about it afterward. There's some TJ Maxx stuff in there with >> you can see why we have a little bit of a harder time accepting the buildings for your kids when you've got track keys. Does that mean any money you do have is going to crack? Those are not saying I don't care. It doesn't bother doesn't affect me one way or the other. Okay. >> The officers also suspected that the woman was hiding even more. So they considered searching her vehicle. >> Yeah. Listen, we're going through the car. Okay. Car's getting tomok well soon. None of us want to get hurt. No one wants no fentanyl up in our >> We're going to fight no matter what. Tell us in there. Make it easy and we'll treat you kindly. >> You're going to be out in a couple hours. >> It's a drug charge or retail charge. You're not staying with us very long. >> And you get out free of charge just with a court date. >> Is it open? >> It's open. >> Call the hook. No, I was there's a ton of [ __ ] in there and then I want to be able to get all that >> for >> maybe three crack pipes. The other people they left. >> Other people have crack pipes. Okay. >> How many more rocks are in there? >> No rocks, sir. >> No. How many bags? >> Nothing. It's nothing. >> There's some liquor in there. And uh >> they open >> the pipes. The liquor open? >> No. >> No. Where'd that come from? >> I know you didn't pay for it. So where' it come from? >> CVS. Which one? >> From Target to TJ Maxx and even CVS, those were the stores the officers linked to the items they found. Although she still tried to hide the truth, the officers had already figured everything out, including which store she had visited. >> You don't know. >> You're probably not going to get charged with this stuff. I would rather just get it back to where it came from. >> I don't I can't guarantee that. >> But which CVS did you get? >> Harlem. What? Harlem's a big ass street. Maybe 111. >> That's 111th. And Harlem is rich. Is border is >> I think Harlem's worth. >> Where's it? It is worth. It is rich. >> There's a firehouse. That's it. >> It was like CVS. Richland >> 111. >> Is it Harlem or I don't CVS 111 original, right? >> Nothing. Is it our TJ Maxx? >> 111. Is this all TJ Maxx >> by Marianos? >> That's the one. >> Oh, okay. >> That's right by Marian's. That little >> I don't know. >> By HomeGoods. >> I remember one. Yeah, >> the TJ Maxx. We're talking about the TJ Maxx, not the CVS anymore. >> Yes. >> The TJ Maxx that you went to and you took those items are on 111th in Cicero >> by Marianos and HomeGoods and the Cooper Hawk and all that stuff over there. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> How long ago you do that? >> Maybe about an hour ago. >> Today? >> Yesterday? >> Yesterday? >> Today? >> Today? Yes. >> Oh, yes today. Gotcha. Um, >> yeah. What is the last name? And >> the woman was charged with retail theft and possession of cocaine, with the investigation also linking her to suspected thefts from TJ Maxx and CVS. One theft can quickly turn into multiple charges when additional stolen merchandise or illegal substances are discovered. Hiding evidence only gives officers more reasons to investigate further.
