Those are her dirty shoes and those are our shoes. And then she concealed in her bag, I think, a a shirt. >> I have warrants for what? >> I said shoplifting, >> disorderly conduct, resisting, arresting, or evading an officer. >> On March 18th, 2024, police were alerted to a shoplifting case unfolding inside a Walmart. The suspect, a blonde woman in a yellow top, had slipped extra clothing and jewelry into her bag. But she had no idea that every move she made was already being watched by both the store manager and the officers. >> Those are her dirty shoes and those are our shoes. And then she concealed in her bag, I think, a a shirt. And I'm not sure. He still has the pants on them, but I think she has jewelry as well, but I didn't see her. I But what I did see was that those shoes are ours. >> We got two more coming. Let's look into those. >> Okay. >> So, I don't know what you guys want to do. I know you guys are busy soon. Do you want to approach from the floor and just >> uh No. We're going to need to have her actually try to exit because at this point she could try to say like while still going to pay for them. So she would have to bypass all the points. So >> Okay. Okay. No worries. >> Okay. >> Try to see where she's at. She's in the back right now. >> Yeah. Hopefully they're almost done. >> Through the surveillance screens, we could see how skilled she was as she repeatedly slipped into blind corners to avoid being seen. >> I just didn't know cuz sometimes um when PD shows up, they're like, "Oh, we're really busy, so we're just going to go approach on the floor. get stuff back in lava. >> But yeah, so I just never know. You know which one is that? >> I mean, we can hang for a little, but I mean, >> so >> so hopefully hopefully they'll be on their way out. I'm not sure. >> And it's just her so far. >> It's It's her. He's with her, but >> he >> And then what? >> You don't have anything for sure on him, though? >> Uh, no. She's the one that's concealing everything. >> Where is she? Where is she? >> Ah, there she is. You guys know who she is? >> No, I don't. >> I feel like I've seen that hair. >> I mean, I if anything, I have her on the shoes. Those are her shoes. So, >> we're just trying to see if she's going to have to try to >> do it. >> Where are her old shoes at? >> Right here. >> Okay. >> Where'd she leave them? >> She left them at the shoe in the shoe aisle. She like put them behind other shoes. >> Okay. So I said, "Well, if anything, I know she has stuff in that purse that belong to us, but I but that in fact like if I have anything and those are ours, so I have her on the shoot." >> With the swapped shoes, the woman did not stop her professional behavior. She noticed an officer nearby and then acted as if to erase all evidence of her wrongdoing. Every move had already been fully observed by the store manager. >> There's an officer out there, a GM, because they think they're going to walk out. So, but the gentleman's pain, but she has stuff. She has her shoes. >> Oh jeez. Some of these cameras aren't working. >> Just stay right there. One on 32 and it's a female with the yellow. But I have the police. >> Yeah. Checking out right now. If you want to wait for her like in the vestibule just so that way it's like undisputed. >> Where is she? Where'd she go? >> Go to 32. >> Negative. James, do you see the female? >> Oh, there she is. >> Okay. She's going to They might see the officer right there. So, I think they might have saw you. Yeah. Oh, look. Look, look. She's going to put her purse down. If you want, just maybe wait outside. I'll let you know if they start heading out. >> Oh, she's going to leave her purse. She dumped her purse. >> Okay. >> Yeah, she dumped it. Hold on. Yeah, she ditched her purse. >> Oh, no. She She's ditching her purse. They're going to walk out. Hold on. She ditched her purse in seasonal. Can you please go get it? >> Yeah, she still has the shoes. They're heading towards the exit right now. >> She still has a female. >> At this point, the woman confidently stepped toward the exit wearing the new shoes, unaware that police were waiting for her. When approached, beyond her denials, her attitude was also strikingly noticeable. How's it going, buddy? Are you going to take pictures? Yeah, you >> didn't even look at the pictures when I came here. >> No, no, no. We have your old shoes. You got your old shoes on your back. Okay. >> I'm wearing the same shoes I'm wearing. >> Okay. >> Well, we have your old shoes in the asset protection office. >> So, you're just detainer now. Okay. >> Under arrest. >> You're just detain right now. >> That's not >> You are just detainer now. That's the answer. >> Okay. I have 14. >> Mhm. You're good to go, buddy. You paid. >> That's my husband. He's not leaving me. >> Okay. Well, >> we're going to go to the asset protection office, so you can wait outside. >> He can't come with me. Then I'm not going. I don't I don't want to be going [laughter] into a room full of men. I mean, you're insane. >> My camera's on. >> I don't care. >> Okay. Well, there's a female in there. >> The The camera was on when you guys knew on that guy's neck, too. But >> I didn't on anyone's neck. >> Nobody else did it. >> Who Who's that? >> That's why he's in jail. >> Who is there? >> Valenuela. We didn't think on his neck. >> The woman clearly refused to cooperate at all. Even when she entered the asset protection office and saw her bag again, she showed no sign of surprise, revealing the full extent of her acting skills. >> So, they have you on camera swapping out your shoes. Hey, can I see putting items in your purse? Okay. >> Um, I didn't leave with that. >> Okay. No, I understand. We're not worried about them. >> I was using it as a shopping bag. >> Okay. Okay. >> Right now, is this >> That's fine. Can I have my tickets? >> Okay. We're gonna get done when we're done. Okay. You don't run this. >> All right. Well, then are you going to pick up my daughter? >> No. >> You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right to talk to a lawyer. Have them present with you while you're doing question. You cannot afford a lawyer. One will be appointed to represent you for any question if you wish. You can decide any time to exercise these rights and answer any questions or make any statements. You understand? >> Am I being arrest? >> Very now you are. >> I thought I was being >> No, you are detained. But we have video. Now you're >> Yeah. Now you're arrested because we do have you on video footage swapping your shoes and trying to walk out of the store. >> It's a $10 ticket. Like it's a $10. >> Okay. Well, actually, I can't take you to jail. >> Okay. So, you want to talk about what happened? >> I just need your shoes. >> Okay. >> What's your name? >> Even more astonishing, when the police checked her records, the woman herself was shocked to learn that she had a series of outstanding warrants. >> So, you're going to jail today? Actually, >> I have warrants for what? I said shoplifting >> disorderly conduct, resisting, arresting, or evading an officer. >> So, whatever incident you had prior, you didn't show up to court. It sounds like >> they could just be simple FTS. >> I've never had a Okay. >> Well, it comes back to your social security number. So, >> it comes back to my my name and social security number. >> Yeah, I ran you by I ran you by your social game court. >> Okay. Regardless, you're going to have to get in court. Sort that out with them. We're not going to hear discern it. It's in your name. It's to your social. It's for you. Am I going to have a bite? >> That's We'll find out right now. >> You sure you don't want to take your >> Yeah, those are cool. >> Mhm. >> What's your husband's name? >> Joseph. >> Okay. All right. I >> have a warrant. Call my mom. She'll post my bond. >> Mom will post my bond. It's for some bull immunity. resisting and uh >> disorderly conduct >> back in 2018. >> Garbage. >> Do you have any sticks that ma'am? >> No, ma'am. >> All right, cool. >> All right, then. The woman was booked on a warrant and faced an additional charge of shoplifting. Remember, even small thefts leave a clear trail. Trying to act clever or hide evidence won't stop the law from catching up. In the next case, this woman shamelessly thought begging could undo 7 hours of theft. >> It'll be well over 500, I'm sure. >> No, it will be more. >> You're right. >> Yeah. >> Um, >> hey, please, please don't do this. >> Don't resist. It's not going to go well for you. >> But why? On May 1st, 2025, police responded to a call from Target about a woman suspected of shoplifting after she had wandered through the store for 7 hours stuffing three reusable bags with merchandise. When officers arrived, the woman was escorted to the loss prevention office. This was what happened next. >> So, this is Annayia. This is the info she gave me. Um, she said she does not have an ID on her. She's been in the store about 7 hours or so. She said she's waiting for someone to pick her up. She's visiting here. >> Okay. >> Um, she said she doesn't live here. She's from India. She's with family. They're coming to pick her up still a few times. Um, so basically she's been in the store. We've been watching for at least 4 hours. She's taken a ton of merchandise, different kinds. We're getting a total right now for you. It'll be well over 500, I'm sure. >> No, it'll be more. >> You're right. >> Um, and she put them all into big three reusable bags. And then she kept getting really close to the door. She'd stand there. She sent her phone about three times she did that and then she came back in the store, went shopping and then eventually we just stopped her because she passed the first set of doors, went into the vestibule, stopped her in the vestibule, brought her back here. She's saying that she was still planning to pay for it. Um, >> okay. What do you guys want done? >> We're prosecutor and trespass. >> The woman fully admitted what she had done. Yet, despite her actions, she showed no shame and believed she could still change the outcome if she begged. >> Let me just pay for it in order. >> That's That's not happening. So, you don't have an ID on you or anything like that? >> No. >> No driver's license? >> No. I don't drive here also. >> So, you don't have any sort of Illinois ID, anything like that? >> I'm not from this country. >> Okay. Well, there's a lot of people who aren't from this country but still have stuff. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Do you have a middle name? >> No. I can only do is I don't mind paying for it, everything, and then leaving. Right. >> No, that's not happening. can't do that. We lost that opportunity. >> Why can't I just pay for it? >> We're We're way way way past that. >> You committed a felony. >> But if I'm paying for it, what is the harm? >> It would have been fine if you didn't leave, right? You would have had that opportunity to pay. But because you left the store at that point, you chose to not pay for it and we can't go back. That already happened. You can go to Walmart or Meer or Kohl's or you're going to have to find a different store to shop. >> You don't have to pull this off. >> Okay. Well, >> but again, you made that decision. >> I'm going to try to run this and see if I can get it to come back. I'm going to step out of here cuz I know it's >> I'm a very nice guy. I promise. But this is my job. >> I'm afraid no record for last name of Lani first. I'll check online. You don't have to have like a town or anything, do you? >> Where do you live? >> India. >> Negative. >> It was another sign of the trouble ahead as this Indian woman had no information about her own ID. And even the reason she had come to this country remained completely vague. Who >> Who are you staying with right now? Where does your family live? >> Family is in India. >> How'd you get here? >> On the flight? >> On the flight? >> Yeah. >> So, you're here by yourself? >> Yeah. [clears throat] >> Okay. >> They let you fly over without a passport? >> Of course, I have one. >> You have a passport? Is it with you? It's How do I copy the passport and roam around? >> Okay, let's see your passport. >> I don't have a passport right now. So, okay. You flew here from India to America. >> Exactly. But the passport is not with me in this bag. Do >> you have a Do you have a picture of it? >> Listen, I don't want to get into any trouble. >> Yeah, we're we're it's too late for that, girl. Pull up your passport. >> No, but then what am I supposed to do? >> That's none of my business. I don't know. You shouldn't have been stealing stuff. >> I've not yet done anything. >> Oh, you have. Pull up your passport. >> For what? What do I do? >> Okay. So, you do can pull up your passport now or we're going to take you back to the station and you can pull up your passport there. >> Please don't. I'm really >> It's really It's too late. Can you please just pull up your passport? >> He just You promised me that nothing is going to happen. >> I did not promise you. >> Of course, you said that nothing. You'll once we do this thing, you can leave. >> I No, I said as soon as we're done with our reporting, we'll try to get you out of here as soon as we can. >> Yeah. You said you'll not you won't be allowed to. We're not going to fight with him. We're not arguing. We're not going to fight with him. >> It's too late. >> So, what do you want me to do? I need you to pull up your passport. I need to see valid identification for you. >> And then >> and then you will be going back to the station with us. I need to see your identification. >> Please don't take me. >> That's that's simply not going to happen. You don't get to have that choice anymore. You made you made lots of poor choices today and now you have to pay for the >> He said he's not going to put me in the station. >> Well, that's not He doesn't work for us. I don't know who this man is. >> I'm really sorry. I'm ready to pay for this. >> That's again, I understand that you're sorry. I know you're ready to pay for it now, but you didn't want to pay for it then. So, I need you to give me your identification, please. >> I'm really sorry, >> please. >> The woman's remorse appeared entirely reluctant, as if in her mind, everything could still be changed. A mindset that showed a clear disregard for the rules here. >> Listen, please don't please don't embarrass me. Ma'am, >> I think your own choices are going to embarrass you. It has nothing to do with me. >> So, what do I have to do if I have to? What do you want me to do? [clears throat] You are >> difficult. >> I'm not taking anything. I'm ready to even pay for it. >> It's not does not work like that. I don't know why you keep saying the same thing over and over again. >> So, what do you want me to do? >> I just want you to be quiet for right now. >> I'm really sorry to bother you if it is. I'm really sorry. >> I understand that you're sorry. >> I'm not from this country. I'm not going to be staying here. >> Okay. How far? >> Okay. Are you allowed to steal things in India? >> No. I didn't think so. >> Okay. The minute he came, the minute the door opened, he came. I returned back. I said I was just waiting. I've not gone away. How would I even run with these bags? It's [music] m humanly impossible. I don't mind paying for the merchandise. >> Okay, I'm I'm done talking to you because you just keep repeating the same things over and over again. And I keep telling you that that's not an option. We can't do that. So, I'm not going to be acknowledging that anymore because I've already determined we're not doing that. You're repeating the same thing over and over again and expecting a different response is not going to happen. >> One second. He promised me. >> You've already said that. We've already gone over that and it does not matter to me what he said. you still committed a crime regardless of >> realizing her excuses were losing their effect, she returned to using her foreign status as a shield, trying to justify herself. But soon enough, she would get answers for everything. >> Sorry that you're from a different country, but like you said, you're not allowed to steal in India either. Most places do not really appreciate thieves. >> Of course, you don't you if you walk out and if if I walked out and I ran away yet, I'm just coming. He came running. I was like, "What's happening?" I was on a call. Where are these people? I don't mind paying for it. You can see the video. I don't mind paying for it and finishing it off. I need to take these articles for as gifting. I promise there won't be anything. It's over. I just need to pay and [clears throat] finish it. >> Oh, just kidding. Pick up the receipt. >> What's the total amount? >> Or 13 before. >> I don't mind paying that. >> Stop. Do you want me to allow me to like give you everything else or you? >> Um, no. I'll take that back with me because I'll have to do the complaints and >> everything. Okay. >> All right. I'm going have you take your bag off and put it right here. >> Why? >> Take the bag off and put it right there. I told you what's going to happen. Stand up. Nothing on you. I think so. Nothing on you. No guns, no knives, nothing like that. No, not just face me. Don't move. Just stay where you're at. >> She has a personal luggage, too. >> Yeah, it's an empty bag. >> Okay. >> So, she brought something into the store. >> It's an empty luggage. >> Trans, please. >> Hey, please. Please don't do this. >> Don't resist. It's not going to go well for you. >> Why? >> Just stop. >> We explained it to you. Okay. When you take things without permission, that's a crime. >> But what do I What do I do now? For how long is it going to be? >> Hang on. Huh? Okay, just hang on. Okay, it's probably going to be one maybe 2 hours, okay? It depends on how quick the paper process works. >> Please, I'm requesting you. >> Even after arriving at the police station, the woman shamelessly believed she had done well despite stealing, showing no embarrassment as she clung to the same absurd excuse over and over again. >> The best thing to do would be not to steal in the first place. That would be the best thing to do. Of course the if I could have gone run away it was a different thing. The minute the guy came back I turned. He was like target security. I said what happened? He's like you have to you've not paid. I said I don't mind paying for the items. >> But why did you walk through the doors then? >> Because I was on call with them. They said you >> you're going to walk past the last point of all the cash registers with the with the security things. >> No. If the security if if the security bars were there. Okay. I I know that if I pass that it's going to beep. >> It only beeps if you have certain items. >> Yeah. I don't And after that the second door was there also. I didn't pass. Tell me with this heavy luggage I could have taken the things and put it in my bag also. The bane bag. >> You you passed all of the points of >> Not all of the points. The first half point. >> No. No. You passed all of the cash registers. >> No. Cash registers were different. And this is this side was there. So, I'm trying to explain to I'm trying to explain something to you. So, what we call the last point or the last point of final sale, right? If you pass if you take the cart full of the stuff, >> okay, and which which is you had you had $1,300 worth of stuff >> and you push the cart past all of the all of the places that you could have paid for it >> and then you start to leave, we have a problem. >> I know. I know. I understand. I don't mind paying for it right now. I'm going to have to do the procedure now. I would get Target stuff again online and do ask somebody to do it. It was the simplest thing for him to tell me that next time don't come to the store and tell him that listen pay for this and then leave. >> She was charged with felony retail theft and criminal trespassing. Her attempts to justify the crime only made her look more careless and disrespectful. Owning up to the truth from the start is the only way to avoid turning a bad decision into something far worse. Next, the theft played out like a staged movie scene driven by jealousy. >> I think that that's why she's having this thinking I'm cheating. I'm just trying to deal with it the best I can. I don't like it. >> If you came with him, you could be an accomplice in this. Okay. >> Accomplishing what? >> For stealing. >> On January 28th, 2025, police were dispatched to Walmart after receiving a report of a shopping incident involving unpaid items. The initial reason was said to be a dispute between a husband and wife. When they arrived at the scene, the husband quickly ran outside. Here is what happened next. >> Hey man, come here real quick. Question for you. So you're here with your wife. >> Is your side chick here as well? >> No, she thinks that that's what's going on. >> Okay. >> Oh, >> so that's ultimately what the issue is kind of. >> It wasn't really I mean it just happened before. >> Yeah. Okay. >> I don't even know why I got call. But one lady that seen us kind of bigger and she did look really concerned. I knew it was going to happen. >> Well, if I'm getting personal with you, I'm just trying to figure out what why people are calling. You know, >> we just went through a big thing. We had something in the car that was a friend. I got [clears throat] arrested for possession of fentanyl. I took a damn charge for my wife driving my truck for her not to go to jail and then take the kid cuz he was going to take everybody cuz everybody was saying it's not ours. Anyway, that caused a lot of stress on him and I think and that's when the cheating stuff. She started thinking I was cheating on her. >> Okay. >> Watch me go to jail in front of my daughter. I'm 35 years old and haven't been arrested. >> I think that that's why she's having this thinking I'm cheating. I'm just trying to deal with it the best I can. I don't like it. We've been together 8 years and I would never have cheated. But if she came here with you, why would she think that there's another female in the store that you're with? >> Yep. Sounds pretty crazy, huh? >> A little crazy. How long y'all been married? >> I mean, 5 years, been together eight messages between girls. There's no me doing odd things like tucking off around the building at Walmart, calling people, but I'm not doing anything like that to think for her to think that she's that I'm cheating, >> right? But that's what it's made up in her head and she truly believes it. I know she I look in her eyes and I can just tell she really believes she might. >> As far as the groceries, you said you had a big >> Yeah. Well, I had a goat track like I was telling her the scooter, the little riding scooter, cup milk, couple small things, toilet paper, >> and um yeah, I don't know. I don't know if she's uh >> you're heading back in. >> She don't have the car, so I know she didn't get far. I went back inside, told her to pull up. That was my fault. >> The husband had tried to purchase several items while shopping with his wife, but her jealousy caused her to leave, preventing him from paying. Here is how she recounted all her actions driven by her jealousy. >> Sorry about that. >> Honestly, you probably never will buy anything because I canceled all the cards. cuz I found charges on them. >> He doesn't know that. So, he's probably be really pissed off. >> I was trying to save that. I was trying to do that whenever he went outside. I try to They knew he was going to be really mad. But >> that's where I found the charges and what started his >> He doesn't know that I know that the charges are on. >> Are you going to be okay for the night? >> Oh, yeah. Sure. >> Oh, yeah. He's not going to he's not >> he's not in any sort of honestly if anything. >> He said you guys were arguing in the parking lot. >> Yeah, we did a little bit just because that's when I cuz he came out originally without the car and was complaining about asking me what was going on. That's what we were fighting about. And then >> Okay. >> That's when I then he came inside and the car the truck was parked in the >> lane. The lane right here. Yeah. In reality, the husband acted very frantically. Earlier, he had already pushed the cart out past the security line, and now he went back into the store, which immediately raised concerns with the police. >> I don't have I don't have enough in his car to cover that. Um, and also with this situation, I guess I'm just going to come back. It's fine with me. I'm just going to come back cuz I don't have I don't have $300 on this card. I'd rather just >> Well, I'm put I'm going to put it to you this way. Okay. >> You both are acting very frantically, right? You know that there's no money on that card right now. You pull up the truck. You have a large load. What do you think I'm trying to get out of here? >> I already know. I already know. I'm not stupid. I told you earlier. I'm not I've already beat the situation. That's exactly why I'm just going ahead and leaving. But I do have money. I work. >> I do work. You know what I mean? Like why would I come in here to steal that much money's worth of dude? I mean, come on. That's pretty stupid. >> Come on. Have I have I maybe possibly, you know, knowingly not scanned an item before? Maybe. But I, you know, never anything like that. >> Okay. >> I mean, there's a guy sitting. >> Well, I'm gonna tell you what's going to happen now. >> I'm gonna tell you what what's gonna happen right now. Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. You're going to be entertained for now until we get everything figured out. All right. >> Why is he being worth it? >> I don't know. >> So, >> Oh, what's going on? >> What's going on? detaining me. >> We're just going to detain you so we can kind of figure out what's going on. Okay. >> Several other suspicious points were also raised by the police when speaking with the woman. What they suspected most was whether this was a stage theft and if both of them were accompllices. >> The cheating thing is obviously something you guys are going to have to worry about, but unfortunately that is not a criminal aspect. Right. >> Exactly. >> Okay. So, that's not reason why you are in cuffs right now. >> Okay. Why in the hankers? >> What I am looking at is because your guys' erratic behavior, the truck being pulled up right here ready to go, the large amount of items that are expensive on the cart and some items concealed inside of a cooler. >> See, I wasn't in those. I wasn't even in the store. >> I Here's the thing. If you came with him, you could be an accomplice in this. Okay. >> Accomplice in what? >> Or stealing. >> Well, why would he steal it? He literally walked in. He was at the selfch checkout. >> He told you to go purchase the item, right? >> He Well, I didn't have the card. You didn't have the car. >> That's when I came in and tell him, well, when I told him that the cops were out here to go move the truck, he walked out there immediately. He walked walked right away. Not one person asked me to leave. I sat there and talked to that lady right there the whole time and let her kind of know what was going on. And the reason I was like standing there like that, not one person told me to leave. >> What I don't understand is you guys come together to go shopping, but you stay in your truck and then you abandon the truck to keep an eye on him and he comes out not knowing where you are, pulls the truck up, but then tells you to go pay. No, but you don't have a car. >> He never told me to go pay. I walked in to tell him the truck was in the fire lane to move because there told me that you told him to go pay. >> Well, he when inside when I told him, he told me to pay, but he didn't. He walked off with everything. >> If you don't have a car, you pay for it, right? >> No, but I could have had my if I had my phone, I would have been able to pay, but he didn't know that. >> Usually, he wasn't going to pay for it. He >> know, but here's the thing. Usually, when I buy groceries, right, and I'm ready to go, >> then we get to that step of >> I was yelling at him. I wanted Yeah. I wanted to go. That's what I was literally telling him. Let's go. I want to go home. I'm pissed. But >> so you know nothing of any of the items being concealed on the cart. You had nothing to do with any of those items. >> Along with their suspicion, the police also questioned the man which revealed that he had a prior history with similar incidents. >> Your guys's both behavior is very erratic. >> Well, >> and the circumstances are coming behind this right now. >> Well, it's probably >> that's what I'm looking at obviously. That's why you're in >> c because it looks bad. Yeah, >> it looks bad. Now you're >> It looks bad. Okay. Do you have any history of shoplifting or any any kind of theft? Absolutely not. >> Never stolen your life. Never got charged for a theft or anything? >> I got no when I was like 18. Wrong place, wrong time. But in Manatee County, yeah, I got arrested for uh basically >> I got sold a necklace and when I pawn the damn thing then boom, I got hit. So then I So I got arrested. I went to jail. But it was like one of those things like oh I got arrested first time as an adult, moved on with my life and they they withheld. So okay, >> as far as if you guys I don't know if you guys see it or not. I don't think you do. I haven't looked at it. >> I don't know, but I got to see. >> I'm going off of what you guys are telling me right now. I'm not basing it off your history. >> I got you, but I'm just saying. But I got But I also have a security clearance in the space center, so I don't think I don't know. But I told them about it, too. And when I got in trouble then and then 35. Yeah. 35 when I got arrested for the fentanyl. >> Other than that, no, I have no >> You're not a user or anything like that right now? >> I have 10 years ago. >> Fentanyl? >> No, I don't think it was around 10 years ago. I'm not really a thief, dude. You know, um >> the couple faced a felony retail theft charge for attempting to take over $1,000 worth of items. However, the case was later suspended when the store chose not to pursue criminal charges. Jealousy and poor communication can escalate a normal situation into serious legal trouble, highlighting the importance of staying calm and handling responsibilities clearly. Next, the store manager's false confidence slowly collapsed under police pressure. >> So, at no point did you take it for like your own personal gain? Nothing like that, right? >> No. Um, >> everybody makes mistakes. We've all been there. >> Yeah, we do. >> I'm not perfect. I've done stupid [ __ ] in the past. On August 21st, 2024, police were dispatched to Dollar Tree after receiving a report of a theft at the store with the suspect coming from the store's own manager. Watch what unfolded through the employees account. >> So, tell me what happened. >> So, um I get an email like we verify when we're in our stores our deposits, but usually our treasury department finds like a missing deposit before us like within a week they'll flag on an email telling us that it hasn't been validated through the bank. So, I started to receive emails. Um, quickly it was like two, then it became three, it was four. Um, right now I have six. Um, and it's going to be six in total. This store manager, she had just started here on July 29th. It was her first day in the store. So, like she trained with us for 5 weeks at another location. Um, and came here by 8:4. I'm assuming my first time has it. So, >> so July 29th, she started at this location. Yeah. >> And then um you said she trained for 5 weeks at another location. >> Yeah. >> Um but like in the capacity of manager. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. So she was >> But was she with the company before? >> No. >> Okay. So she got hired in brought in as a manager and then she was training. >> Yeah. So she finished. >> So this was like the first time being solo? >> Yes. Alone unattended, right? The suspect was fully confirmed to have committed the acts over an extended period and even through her statements she appeared largely unconcerned about whether she would be discovered. Did >> like a little investigation and then on Wednesday you met with her? >> Yeah. >> Okay. With along with asset protection. Okay. And so you guys discussed it with her. >> Yeah. >> So she knows. >> Yes, she knows. >> Okay. So and and then I'm sorry. So then what did she say to you guys? >> She was very like she was very mildtempered. I mean she wasn't argumentative. She wasn't anything. She wasn't riled up or any was just very calm. And so I took him to the bank. Like I signed them out. I took them all to the bank. They're all going to be at the bank. And [music] you know, even after he left, I continued to talk to her a little bit oneonone. Like maybe you changed purses or bags that you brought to work. Don't you want to go check your car? Double check. Like if you were taking multiples at a time, what could slide out at a red light? Double check. And she's like, I know they're not in there. Like I took them to the bank. and she's just very confident but not really doesn't care to help or look or you know do anything for it as far as that. And even like the day before because I was um across town I sent the man the store manager that trained her. She's right up the road. So I sent her on Tuesday to meet with this store manager and go over the deposits and I had her staff at the bank see if there was anything going on and she was very you know casual with her really not too worried about it. Um the biggest red flag for me right away was that store manager stressed to her like, "Okay, you're coming in tomorrow. You're scheduled at 12, meaning Wednesday. Um, make sure you go to the bank before you go to your store cuz you need to resolve where your missing deposits are. They should be validated by the bank right away the next day. You need to talk to a bank manager and not a teller. Um, find out what's going on." So, she didn't know we were going to be in her store on Wednesday, but like she came walking in with a bag of McDonald's foods, didn't care. I asked her, "Did you go to the bank before you came here?" >> And that was on Tuesday. >> Oh, no. On Wednesday, like when I was physically in the store with her, >> but she was supposed to go there on Tuesday to >> She was supposed to go Wednesday, like before she came in, cuz she came in at 12:00 on Wednesday. >> 8 days later, the female suspect was summoned in, still carrying an air of confidence with no idea what was about to unfold for her next. >> You know, you're in the good room when you're in the big room. So, we're in the big room now. We're in the lobby. We appreciate you coming by to help us. No problem. >> Yeah. At this point, honestly, we're just trying to close it out. Um just trying to figure out what happened. Um Dollar Tree was concerned about some of their money and that's why we're we're involved. Okay. So, you know what? >> Yeah. My um >> I guess Yeah. She had told cuz she had asked me that they came anybody reach out to me. I told her no. [clears throat] >> Until now. Yeah. >> Yeah. So, uh when did you actually start working there? >> Um think in June for training. [music] >> June. >> That one story. Yeah. And it wasn't at that location, right? >> No. >> Okay. So, you get there at June and then what happened when uh when did you start working over at the the local one over here? >> Well, I did like five weeks in training. So, I probably didn't start there maybe today. Maybe end of July, I'm thinking. >> Okay. >> Yeah. [music] >> So, at the end of July, you start working there. >> I think Yeah. >> And what was your like job title over there? >> A store manager. >> Nice. Right from the get-go. >> Training. Well, I mean >> that's [clears throat] pretty good. >> Yeah. I trained I mean I told myself okay well when I'm getting into Dollar Tree to start but you know it it was it was different from what I was expecting >> sign majority of them don't sign so basically I'm signing cuz I'm taking everything like I told I take everything I drop in a sec in the in the night deposit I don't know nothing else this is my first time you know you know yall see me you know if y'all see me in the camera okay like I told her check the bank cameras like I don't know this is my first time so I don't know what was the deal what's going on was missing >> but you know like I told her you know you can search my car you can search you know I don't you know >> you you came running you said how can I help >> I'm a new person you know I just started this is I never had this issue never had this problem I worked for city trans for 5 years like I never had issue I've been as a store manager I never dealt with nothing with money I don't steal money why would I take your money >> the woman mainly tried to highlight her own efforts during her time at work and she did not admit any wrongdoing even when discussing the reason she was fired I I don't know anything else. So, they basically let me go cuz of my me cuz of my name of the log. That's pretty much it on. That's what she told me. They're just going to go ahead and let me go for it. >> What terminated? They >> Yeah. When she they gave me a suspension and then she finally said they made a decision to let me go cuz I had written wrote on the log. >> Yeah. >> So, here's the log that I guess we got. I know it's kind of hard to see. >> Yeah. >> So, you deposited these, but you're saying you dropped them off in like a drop box outside the >> Yeah. >> All right. Um, yes. Yeah. So, I spoke with Crystal. They still don't have any other deposit slips from from those times. That's why we're just trying to get it figured out. >> How long's it been though since this happened? >> This August. Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. So, they should have got everything. >> They should. Yeah. >> If they're counting like $1 at a time, they should have >> She was saying Yeah. She was saying they were waiting for back from the bank. I don't know. They were wait I don't know. >> Yeah. So, I I ended up speaking with the bank as well. We ended up doing subpoenas from the bank. Um because they're independent. They have nothing to do with this. They'll tell us whether or not they got the money. And the bank is saying they didn't get the money either. >> I don't know. I don't know. It's whatever deposit slip they had in the safe. I just grab like from which if you see if it's two signatures or whatever it is and then I put in the in in the deposit in the thing. That's it. >> Okay. Where's the where's the deposit on that on that bank? It's the Teresa 100 with Congress, right? [music] >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Cuz is there Cuz with the teller and then there's a box right here. You open it and you just >> the inside of the bank. >> No, it's outside at a drive-thru. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Um, what if I said there was no there's no camera footage of you at the bank dropping them off? >> Would that be weird? >> It would be. I mean, it's a bank. It should have cameras. >> Mhm. >> In reality, the police steered their questions to determine whether she knew there was a spot at the bank without cameras. After that, officers applied pressure to see whether any admission would follow. I guess the next thing I'd want to do is reach out to the bank again and just verify that your car was there just so we can get you completely out of this. >> Yeah. Yeah. I don't Yeah, I don't get out the vehicle cuz once you pull up the thing's right there, you just open it, drop, and close and go on. >> Okay. Yeah. So, that would be the next step is we ask for the camera footage again of the vehicle and then we should see your vehicle doing the drop boxes on those days around the time that you put Ray. >> Mhm. >> Okay. All right. So, at no point did you take it for like your own personal gain, nothing like that, right? No. Okay. >> If you I mean you take my background. I don't have any history criminal history of me doing anything. I mean well parking speed tickets that's I mean that's everybody you know that's everybody. But when it comes to theft that's not me. I don't Yeah. That's why this right here was very shocking to me. >> To me I'm like I don't take anything. I don't you know and then because I was training at the other store they even I even took deposits there and drop at the store when I was at training and nothing was missing. So to me this is Yeah. >> So what do you think happened there? >> I have I don't know. I have no clue. I don't know. For one manager she was telling me you know it's just like letting me know just be careful in this store. This is pretty much it. Like man I don't know why the store managers didn't laugh in that store. I don't know. I I'm just new to Dollar Tree and I never had issues like this. never [music] had a problem like this with money. >> The woman repeatedly used the excuse that it was her first time dealing with such a situation. And even while denying theft, she did not view it as her own fault during the job. Instead, blaming the handling process. >> This is my first time. I don't know why they even do that. Like they're better off just having like banks come pick up the instead of having it in the safe. >> Yeah. And then they dealing with different type of bank. Each store have a bank. To me, that don't make no sense. But >> they they they they put you in a situation basically that that you weren't looking for. >> No. >> And you made a mistake and mistakes [music] happen. >> So you made a mistake in this situation [music] and maybe we can make it right with Crystal. >> I mean at the end of the day is you know as being store I mean >> ability I you know >> brainstorm with me. So they put you in the situation they should have brings come by. If they have $5,000, >> it cost them $100 to get Brinks to go pick it up and then you're not out there with money. You're not out there driving your car by yourself, >> potentially going to get robbed or whatever else. They're putting people in this situation. So, shame on them. >> Yeah. >> And they're putting thousands of dollars in people's hands, which is a lot of money >> in the scheme of things. A lot of not a lot of money to them, but it's a lot of money to me and you. >> Yeah. >> Um, so they're they're they're setting themselves up for failure. >> You're a good person. >> You made a mistake. Is there a way we can get this money back to Crystal? >> I don't know. I mean, I barely have anything. I don't know if they want me to do a payment plan or something to give him something that lost. I have no idea. >> What happened to all the money? What did you guys >> I don't have any I don't [music] >> You had it and then you spent it. What did we spend it on? Where did it go? Why can't we get it back to Crystal? >> Did you end up paying bills with >> But you This ain't $5. That's There's no way I took that type of money. >> Okay, then how much did you take? >> There's no way. I wouldn't even bother taking So the mountain total is the is the 5,000. >> That's That's where we're at right now. >> So, how much how much did you take? It was less than that. >> The woman's confidence and cheerful demeanor completely collapsed when police confronted her directly. At that moment, with the transaction records in hand, the atmosphere turned suffocating. >> Did you get behind on bills? Did you have to pay some home bills for it? You have kids? >> Where did the money go? Maybe you can get on a payment plan with them. >> No, I don't have any. [snorts] I'm still behind on rent pretty. I mean, >> rent is not cheap in the world today. >> No, it's not. >> No, I'm here to check my account. I didn't buy none of this in my town. >> Yeah, of course. So, they're patting the numbers a little bit. They're they're a mess to begin with. So, maybe it's like 3,000. Maybe that's the payment plan we need to get on. >> Not even. >> So, just why don't you just take us back to the beginning of how how did this even happen? When you take the deposits out of the safe, where did you end up going with the banks? >> The bank. >> You went to the bank or you took them to your bank? >> No. No. No, I don't think they know. I'm not in my bank. No. >> Did you take the money out and throw the bags in or what? What happened? >> In the end, the woman charged with grand theft, repeatedly denying responsibility and blaming procedures only worsened the outcome because accountability and honesty mattered more than excuses when the evidence was clear. In the next case, the woman even mispronounced her own name twice. Not me like that. Not me. What am I doing? >> On June 20th, 2023, police responded to a report from Target about an ongoing theft. A woman had walked out with merchandise without paying. As officers approached, she was still loading the goods into her car, unaware of their presence. >> I'm Officer Robinson, South Police Department. >> I'm conducting a theft investigation. You're now free to leave at this time. I'm >> conducting a theft investigation. You paying them in. >> What's that? >> They paying them. >> Someone else is paying for the merchandise that you walked out with. >> No, listen. How did I walk out? >> Put your hands. >> We're going to do this. >> Relax this hand. Hey. Hey. Listen to me. Listen to me >> while we investigate. I'll put you in handcuffs. And if we're wrong because listen, you're pulling your hand. >> But listen. No. No. No. No. No. >> You listen. First. Put you in handcuffs. Make it safe for me. Then we look into the details. Thank you. >> Welcome. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Just cuz I put you in anthos doesn't mean you're getting charged. It means it gives me time to investigate and explain them. You walked out with stuff we're not paying for. >> We'll work it out for you. We're not just going to take you to jail. Give us a minute. >> Can you stay 102? >> Thank you. >> The officers struggled to get her to cooperate. But the difficulty didn't end there. When they began questioning her personal information, they grew suspicious that she was deliberately concealing her identity. Do >> you have an ID with you? Huh? >> Do you have an ID with you? >> Yes, sir. >> Did you drive here? >> Huh? >> Did you drive here? >> No, my friend drove here. >> Your friend drove here? >> Yes. >> What's your first name? >> Chica Wilson. >> Spell it. >> S H E M K A Wilson. W I L O. Don't turn it off. I'm sorry. >> Whoa. >> We couldn't turn it off. >> Don't do that. >> I'm I'm sorry. >> Yeah, I turned the vehicle off. >> We couldn't turn it off. >> Because we don't have the the key is in in in the in the girl's pocket. That >> Don't worry about the car. Spell your last name again. >> Wilson. >> W I L S O N. >> What's your date of birth, Miss Wilson? >> Go ahead. >> 1202. >> 12:02. What? >> You ever been arrested before? >> Yes. >> For what? >> It's been a long before. >> For what? >> What you mean? >> So, I'm just like >> So, you've been arrested. How old are you? >> I'm 30. >> Okay. >> Her car was still running without the key. And her explanation was full of holes, raising many red flags. Let's see how she continued to justify herself when questioned about this suspicious situation. having these rights in mind. Do you want to talk to me about what's going on here today? >> I want to know what's going on. We went shopping. I had to go shopping for my baby for my baby and I my friend was in there still paying for it. And I came out here because the car was still running and I wanted to make sure the car was still okay and she was in there paying for it. >> You walked into business with your car still running? >> Yes. You know, you know that's how cars get stolen, right? >> But I can't cut it off here. I didn't have the key. >> How was it running if you don't have the key? It's a push to start bl. >> Yeah, but the key has to stay in the car for him. >> Yeah, but it didn't. It was still in his pocket. >> Whose pocket? >> In my friend pocket. My boyfriend. >> Where's he at? >> He's at He's at the house. >> But I was already in >> the car. The car doesn't stay on unless the key is in the car. >> It was already in the middle of I was already in the middle of driving. It say no key like when you driving. So when you turn the car off, it's going to automatically just go off. >> Okay. Well, I guess we'll have to call your boyfriend to come bring your key. You just going to have to buy one person? >> That's why I came to the car and just started putting stuff in the car cuz she was sitting there paying for it. >> So, whose merchandise is this? >> It's me and her. >> So, you're sharing. So, is she paying for all of it? Do you guys split the bill? >> You split I s I sent some money to her Cash App and we splitting the bill. >> So, you're paying her through Cash App and she's paying for everything inside >> and her own car. >> All right. Well, I guess we'll find out. >> Were you inside? >> How was your day? >> How's my day? It's been extremely busy. I had to chase a burglar. >> At this point, officers approached the friend she mentioned to clarify the situation. And even she seemed puzzled by the circumstances, revealing clear deception in the suspect's statements. >> Are you all done? I'm with your friend outside. Have you paid for everything yet? Are you ready to go? >> Okay. Are you still working on that? >> Yeah, we'll save this one for last. >> What's wrong? >> Um, well, your friend walked out with hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise that didn't pay for anything. I mean, that's what we're doing now. >> You're paying for what? >> She's paying. >> Yes, that's what So, what I'm doing to figure out what's going on. >> How are you paying for all that stuff >> with a car? What do you mean? >> You scanned clothing items. >> I was scanning her clothing. >> Okay. >> And she went over. >> She went over there and scanned stuff. >> Okay. She didn't pay for any of it. She know she's number three. >> She didn't pay she didn't give anything to Target in exchange for hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise. She just walked out with it. Her story is that you're paying for all of the stuff that she walked out with. >> She has she has her own card. I don't know. Okay. >> If like I don't know. >> So she's supposed to pay for her stuff and you're supposed to pay for your stuff. >> Well, our clothes are together, but the baby formula. So that's someone gave her the whit card to go to the store to get that. I don't know about week. >> Are you paying for it? >> Or if if you are then it's already scanned. Unless I'm misunderstanding. >> She's trying to pay for it card recently hacked or something. >> Right. >> So she was trying to get her friend's card so she could >> and I just literally started calling her and you walked up to me >> on her friend >> and you telling me this and that's all it's like. >> Right. Right. >> What's going on? >> Well, what's going on is $1,400. Is any of that stuff still here? That's what I'm saying. >> All of it's in the car. >> It was never live in the car. That's what I'm saying. It's >> Oh, it's in the car. No, it ain't. It's in the car. >> Okay. Well, she should be in here. >> Returning to the woman, the officers explained what had happened, but she continued her deception, still fooling herself. >> She failed to understand what we explained to you of her. >> She was paying for it. >> She didn't though. Like, she she told us she had no intention of paying for these items. She thought you were paying for them. That's what she just told us. meaning you stole these items. >> Well, Wilson, >> is there an I in there somewhere? Cuz you spelled S H E M K A. >> That's That's Wilson. >> Is there an I in there? >> Huh? >> S H E M K A. >> It's S H A >> S H A S H A. >> Shemica. S H E M K A K I. >> You don't know how to spell your own name, so you're lying about >> I'm not lying. I'm just asking like y'all >> sounds like you're lying. Hot. No, I'm not. >> I know it is hot, Miss Wilson. I'm in a full polyester uniform with a gun belt and a a vest on. >> Uh Trey, what's the last name or I'm sorry, the uh date of birth? 12292. >> No, it ain't. Yeah, I didn't think so. What >> said your birthday is not 12292. >> Yes, it is. >> Said it's not. It's not. You got warrants or something? >> No, I don't. >> You know, we're very good at our job, right? Like >> she still refused to clearly reveal her information and worse, her next actions brought severe consequences, implicitly confirming her wrongdoing. >> So, here's the deal. This is how it works. If you continue to conceal your identity from us until we get to the jail and then we find out who you are when we get to the jail because we scan your fingerprints and they tell us, "Yeah, this is so and so. We arrest you for >> Stop. Stop. Are you kidding me right now? GET ON THE GROUND. JAIL. >> GET on the ground. >> Not me like that. >> Don't knock me out here. >> I don't want to go to jail. I don't want to go to jail. >> Yeah, cuz you got warrants. >> Don't. I just don't want to go to jail. Y'all going to be nasty. Y'all going to let me go. >> Now you're going in a car. >> You got to be kidding me right now. >> Unbelievable. >> Let me go to jail. >> My baby's home. Stop. I got her breath. I got her. >> Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. >> That was ridiculous. What are you doing? >> In the end, the woman was charged with grand theft and resisting without violence. Attempting to hide her identity and deceive the officers only made the situation worse. Cooperating fully from the start could have prevented serious legal consequences. >> I give up. I give up. I give up. I GIVE UP. >> SEE your hands now. Let me see your hands. >> On October 13th, 2024, police got a tip about two criminals with multiple active warrants committing theft at Target. As they arrived, the suspects were fleeing through a fire exit, sparking an intense highstakes chase. They're running back. >> Watch that door. >> Hold on, guys. We're just waiting for those guys to come out. I got him back here now. I got >> I give up. I give up. I GIVE UP. GET DOWN. >> I give up. I give up. I give up. I give up. I got him. I got I give up. >> I GIVE UP. Where you going? >> Hey, give up my >> Instead of offering any excuses, his repeated cries of surrender only confirmed his own wrongdoing. And in reality, he didn't give up. He got caught. Immediately after, police began tracking down the second suspect. >> We still got one female outstanding, they still standing. white jersey. >> Yeah, >> we got him. >> What you wearing? >> Bring a black top. >> Full shorts. >> You're taking your eyes with us. Sorry, we're all right. Yeah. >> Okay. >> Thank you, man. I appreciate you. >> I mean, where the has she gone if >> Despite searching every possible corner, there was no sign of her. At this point, store cameras were put to good use, revealing that the woman was still somewhere inside. >> So, she went right here. >> I wonder if she's hiding at the very top. >> So, right here. This is where she comes out. >> That nasty. Okay. >> What does she look like? >> You'll see. She's wearing like a black tank top, >> sports bra. Put it like that. And then gray leggings. >> There she is. >> And then, >> and from here, we got her back here. 249. And she doesn't go. If she went this way, she would have gone I would have seen her come this way. Or if she went back this way, I would have seen her come this way. >> She's hiding somewhere on top. Then what angle is that one? >> Which one? >> Like the this one. So I can go over there cuz I don't have my phone. This one's the back of this. This is where we go through the grocery department. >> We have her only going into that um that storage area where we were all at and not coming out any other way. >> Where the I mean, she got back inside pretty quick. You could say the woman turned it into a game of hideand-seek. The moment she thought her hiding spot was safe and well concealed, the police discovery of it left her with nowhere to run. Hey, let me see your hands. Let me see your hands now. Let me see your hands. >> Contact with one >> over here. >> Yes. No. Let me see your hands. >> I'm trying to crawl out. >> You need to crawl out. >> Keep your hands out. I'm coming down. Sorry. She was hiding good. We're done. Damn it. >> Give us one second. >> Look at master finder. >> Called it. >> That was pretty good. >> Yeah, my radio is not working. >> Put me in shape. >> I don't know if you guys would, but we have one to chance. You know, it's funny. >> Oh, was she like underneath? >> Was she under or under underneath? >> Do you have anything in your bra or anything? >> No, I don't. I don't have nothing under. >> Once both were caught, the police continued their process. There was no sign of remorse from the suspects, showing just how accustomed they were to this routine. >> No, your pants. Okay. All right, bro. Where's your feet? Where did you guys come in? Bro, >> did you guys come in a vehicle? >> Which homies were giving you the heads up? In the end, the male suspect was charged with shoplifting and resisting an officer. He pleaded not guilty, and his case is still ongoing. The female suspect faced the same charges, but both were later dismissed by the prosecutor. Even when people think they found a clever way to escape, repeated risky choices and trying to outsmart the system can quickly trap them. Planning shortcuts or ignoring rules rarely ends well. Next, the older woman believes she could outsmart the police, but the reality proved otherwise. Oh, it was a test. See what happens when you steal in general. Did you not Don't breathe heavy with me. You were 60 years old in shoplifting. >> On December 14th, 2025, police received a call from Target regarding a theft in progress. The female suspect was caught red-handed and taken to the loss prevention office. Let's see what happened next when the officers arrived. Hey, real quick. If you have anything on your >> in your pocket, go ahead and just empty it out. Obviously, >> this Why are we selling this stuff? >> H Did you pay for any of this? >> Hey, we'll do the mail and Bradley. >> Why not? Is there anything in here that you did not scan? Be straight with your bag. >> No, I you paid for everything. Okay. Yeah, I got to check your bag. >> Okay. >> What was that? $5. Let's try one more of those. >> Buy others. How old are you? >> Uh, six to seven. >> Have you been caught shopping before? >> No. >> Never. Never. >> The woman appeared awkward about the situation, but showed no shame. Shortly after, police began to suspect that this was not her first offense. >> What is this? >> What's up with all the receipts in here? >> Um, my receipts when I buy stuff. >> I didn't know if you use them to return stolen stuff. >> Huh? >> Huh? You have stolen stuff with you? I didn't know if you used it to. >> No, I have baggies for all my receipts from stores. >> Oh my god. How much is that? >> I don't know how much is there. Um, come here. The receipt for >> Yeah. Where's the receipt for all this? I'm going have to pat you down, so might as well just stand up. >> Stand up. You don't have nothing else on you. >> You don't have to strip down. Just let me pay you down. >> Yeah. >> Oh, I I >> trade on anything else. >> I forgot. >> How much money did you spend here? >> $422. So, >> guess I'm a little confused on why we're stealing them. >> Figure out what's in this. Police didn't hesitate to ask direct questions about the incident, but the woman remained completely silent. Even regarding items that were still missing, she refused to disclose any information. >> No. >> Are you sure? They look pretty brand new. >> Those aren't mine. >> Those aren't mine. I had stretches. >> Those yours? >> Oh, those those are yours. >> Oh, it's a test. See what happens when you steal in general. And you're old enough to know better. You ever been to jail? >> No. >> Never. >> No. >> In your life. >> Oh, now did I not tell you? Did you have anything else in your pockets? >> I those two. Hey, are you a liar? No, >> you are because I asked you if you had anything else in your pocket. What did you tell me? >> What did you tell me? >> I thought I took everything out of my pocket. >> Let me tell you, a liar is a thief. Did you just steal? >> Yes. >> And you're a liar. >> Take a seat. [sighs] You ever been to jail before? >> No. Is >> this going to be the first time? this basket. [snorts] >> Thought you paid for everything in that cart. >> Thought you paid for everything in that cart. >> Under pressure from the police, all of the woman's lies fell apart. At this point, officers continued questioning her and uncovered numerous unpaid items from her shopping cart. >> Did you pay for those two white things she has right there? >> Those are things. No, >> the white things there. Little fluffy things. You pay for that. >> This I think I did the square thing. I did. >> Well, you do the other one. >> Li to me again. >> What? >> That was Take a seat. Take a seat. >> Sit down. >> I said I paid for the white furry. >> You said you paid for everything in that shopping cart. I asked you that. What did you tell me? Tell me you did. Did you not? Don't Don't breathe heavy with me. You were 60 years old in shoplifting. absolute ridiculous. >> The woman failed in her attempt to deceive the police. Her lies only worsened the situation and officers made it clear that her dishonesty had made matters far worse. >> You're old enough to know better. >> Then you lie. Yeah, I'm sure you could. But you can also go to jail for everything, too. >> Okay. >> That's our specialty. We teach everybody a lesson that has chips in it. You have to learn at your age and you have to learn at your age. You lied to me three times. >> Usually if you don't want to go to jail, you don't lie. >> I think I saw most of >> I think that's >> I think all the rest. >> I can go to jail. >> We can. >> Please. >> That's not your option, unfortunately. Well, this is the deal. If you shoplifted here today, you shoplifted prior to this, too. You didn't just all of a sudden say, "I'm a shoplift today." Nobody ever does that. And people use the being an older lady and acting like people don't watch you. A lot of older people steal because they've been getting away with it for years. You know how I know that? Cuz I've arrested a lot of older people stealing. >> The rest of the cards paid for. >> So rest of the cards paid for all that stuff. Did >> you come here in a vehicle? Yeah. >> You have How many times have you shoplifted in your life and I got caught? >> Maybe a couple. Couple. >> Couple. >> Two. >> Three. >> Two. >> Two times. >> Mhm. >> From where? >> From where? >> Yeah. >> Here. >> Once again, the woman's lies were exposed. Yet, she brazenly persisted. Still trying to manipulate the situation in some way. I will pay for everything. True. >> He'll kick me out. No, >> it's on you. You had lied to me three times since being here. So, you expect me to believe anything else? >> Part of the time the screen wasn't showing, but she had keep coming back. >> You got stuff in your pockets. >> I But I mean, I was scanning things and >> you scann the things in your pocket. I can't hear what >> perfect. >> I was scanning stuff. >> Oh, I got you. >> So, real quick, you have a right to sign anything you say. You can't be against you law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer. Have you question? >> You cannot afford to hire a lawyer. Won't be appointed to represent you for any question if you wish. >> You can decide anytime, exercise your rights, not answer any questions, make statements, you understand your rights. [clears throat] >> Okay. >> You want me to do it? >> So, what was the entire purpose of coming in here today? >> Yeah. to pay for some stuff and steal some stuff. Obviously, you got away with it a couple times prior. You said >> it wasn't my >> You stole from there before you ad. >> So, have you done it before? I hear that was kind of probably an intention of coming in here and doing it again. Was it exciting? >> No. >> Then why do we do it? It's $40 and you just paid $400 worth of [ __ ] >> Was it a little exciting? Get your nerves going. Get that adrenaline rush. Then what's your reason for it? >> Nothing bad, I guess. >> Probably not. >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft. Being caught in lies repeatedly erodess trust and leaves no room to control the outcome. Accepting responsibility honestly is far more effective than trying to evade it. Next, watch as this Indian woman completely unravels. [music] >> You don't want to talk to him? >> Okay, that's okay. You don't have to talk to him. I'm not going to taco him, but you're the one who chose to come in here and try and steal things. On January 15th, 2025, officers rushed to Target after a report of a woman [music] concealing over $700 in merchandise. Upon arrival, she was already bracing herself, ready to beg at the loss prevention office. >> Right now, you're not free to leave. >> Okay. For investigation, can you stand up for me your second weapons? Stand up for me. >> Thank you. >> Do you have any weapons on you? >> Do me a favor. Just take a deep breath cuz we're going to chat. >> Has it been since you stopped her? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Have a seat. Do me a favor. Take a big breath. As deep in as you can. >> You got to take a deep breath. One breath. Not hyperventilate. >> Cuz I got to be able to talk to you. And if I can't talk to you or if you're breathing like that, I can't talk to you. Okay. >> Do you speak English? Yeah. >> Very good. >> Not very good. What's your primary language? [laughter] >> Gujarati. >> What is it? >> Gujarati. Where is that from? in India. >> India. >> The woman continued to appear anxious and hyperventilate, making it extremely difficult for officers to verify her identity. >> Okay, so we're here. They called us saying you were shoplifting. Do you have any ID on you, a driver's license, or anything like that? >> No. Do you have any medical issues? What medical issues do you have? >> High blood pressure. >> Do you need me to call the fire department for you right now? >> No. >> No. >> Okay. Is this normal for you when you get nervous? Okay. Have you ever had a license or anything like that? >> Is I I I have I have >> What's that? >> I I I have like >> Okay. I see. >> Is it out of Washington or out of a different state? >> Okay. So, the name that I don't know if you gave them the name or where your name came from. It came back clear. No record. So, I'm going to be totally honest with you. Okay. If you shoplifted and I can identify you, I'm not taking you to jail tonight. Okay? You'll get a charge and you'll have to go to a court date. Does that make sense? If I can't identify you, meaning if you gave them a fake name or if dispatcher just ran it wrong. >> Okay. Okay, that's okay. So, I'll just get the information from you and then we'll chat about why we're here. >> Strangely, she found the courage to commit the theft. Yet, hours later, panicked at what lay before her, making the officer's job even more complicated. >> You got to speak a little bit slower and more quickly because you call Adam Robert. Mary Adam Robert first of Mary Adam date of birth 0311 1999 >> David has she been able to talk to whoever this is yet >> no okay who is this calling >> you don't want to talk to him okay that's okay you don't have to talk to him I'm not going to talk to Okay, we're not going to we're not going to answer it. It's fine. >> It was Pamar. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Pomar, are you okay? Tell me what's going on. >> Are you saying you aren't going to do this again? Have you ever done this before? [crying] >> Yeah, she's a regular here. >> Have you been able to apprehend her before? >> No, this is the first time that anyone's >> officers tried to calm her down to continue the investigation, but they were certain that her actions behind the theft were entirely aimed at illegal resale. >> I already told you if if that is your name, I'm not taking you to jail tonight. Okay? So, I need you to try and relax a little bit cuz I can't get your side of the story if if you were not able to speak with me. >> So, what all were you going to try and sell out of the things that you took? What were you going to try and sell? You are obviously very scared right now and I don't know why, but you're the one who chose to come in here and try and steal things. So, for me, there's two options. Either send you something in the mail or book you into jail. >> So, if there's something else you would like to talk to me about, we're here for that. But I can't force you to tell me whatever's going on. >> At this point, nothing the woman said yielded any results, stalling the investigation, and the officers made their decision. >> Yeah, you throw it right away. Sounds good. Well, our cleaning crew will take care of it. >> Thank you. >> All right, we'll catch you later. >> All right, I'm going stay safe. >> Thanks. We'll follow you. >> Thank you. I hope I go back. Yeah. We're going to we're going to leave. >> Yeah. >> And then you're free to go. >> What's that? >> Yeah. You're going to leave. We're [snorts] not taking you. We're just walking outside with you and then you can go. >> Can you go alone? Sure. We'll walk a ways behind you. Yes. So, we need to see you leave the property. >> Okay. Yep. Go ahead and we'll follow. >> Yep. >> Yeah. I'll give you some time so you can look like you're walking around by yourself. >> The woman was charged with theft shoplifting, [music] a gross misdemeanor under Washington law for merchandise valued at $721.75 and was issued a permanent ban from all Target stores. Even if one has the courage to commit theft, panic and lack of preparation only make the situation worse. Illegal actions not only lead to legal consequences, but also leave oneself vulnerable and exposed. Worse yet, these two illegal sisters saw their American dream fall apart completely. [music] On June 25th, 2024, police responded to a shoplifting report at Burlington. The suspects, two women, spoke no English. Officers approached one outside the car. She immediately exploited the language barrier to make things difficult for them. Does somebody want here? >> Okay. Okay. Oh, okay. Here in the [music] Headlam auto. The suspect was believed to be waiting in the parking lot for the other accomplice to come out so they could flee. And her constant requests to use her phone only raised further suspicion from the police. Um what kind of Um, Florida. [music] The device found on her person said it all. She wasn't there to shop. [music] Indeed, reports revealed the suspect was part of an organized retail theft ring targeting multiple stores that same day. And the second suspect was involved as well. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. [music] over here. [music] >> Yeah. Custom photo from the house. At this point, each suspect was placed into the patrol car, and they began to worry about their fate, fully aware that their earlier actions had now landed them in serious trouble. Hey, hey, hey. In reality, one of the two suspects had given birth on US soil and was still living in the country illegally. So their main concern was facing deportation. They paid no attention [music] to their crimes, focusing only on their own fate. The suspects were charged with organized retail theft and possession of anti- theft devices, facing both criminal penalty ies and potential immigration consequences. This case teaches that shortcuts and deceit come with heavy consequences. One bad decision can snowball into major legal and personal trouble. Next, this woman showed no shame in lying even when all her actions had been fully exposed. >> This is supposed to be toenail cutters, right? Snip stuff and then this goes inside. >> For that, it was I swear to God, it was bought off my car. You can pull my car. >> You paid for that. On November 9th, 2021, police received a report from a shopping mall about a black woman using a tool to remove security tags and conceal items in her bag. In bra, upon arriving, officers met with loss prevention staff and coordinated an initial plan to apprehend her. >> Where's she at? She's up in She's polo. She come out out the door here, take a left, go straight down, take a right, she's going to be right there, >> actually. >> So, it's on the second floor. >> Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. This is going to be >> Have y'all seen her already stuff items >> or do anything >> in her in her bag? She's We think she's got some sort of tool. She's fiddling with the sensors. She keeps going back into her bra. >> Okay. >> Do y'all want to wait for her to pass anything or how do y'all >> do want us to make contact now? >> Yeah. >> You guys prefer to wait until she leaves? >> Wait till she leaves. That way. Yeah. She She going to court. She can't say, "No, I didn't pass my phone." >> Hey, so she's going to be on the second floor. It's going to be a black female heavy set stuffing items into her bag. Um, they want to wait, white shirt, black pants. They want to wait until she uh leaves. So, um, then we'll just go ahead and make contact with her then, but we got eyes on her. She's in the children's section on the second floor. >> The police decided to wait and catch her in the act. Meanwhile, she continued her actions, completely unaware that she was being monitored by the mall's surveillance system, which the officers admired. She's taking bald though, which is pretty expensive, too. >> Yeah, she's taking a decent. The bag's definitely getting a lot bigger as she's going. I just don't know how much longer she's going to be in here. >> So, those are Old Nate. Is that Old Navy on the bag? >> Yep. >> Y'all got some good cameras. That's like some CIA, FBI kind of >> that you see on TV. >> I wish I had the popcorn so we can >> She She's not very slick about it. Picked her out right away. She's looking around for other people, but she's failing to look up and notice that there's cameras here. >> She just It's 2021. Every place has cameras. They could zoom in and read your text messages. Don't do anything illegal. [music] >> What is she into that Old Navy bag or her purse? >> Also, one pan in the purse. >> She put it in both bags. >> Yeah. She keeps going up behind the rack. So, we've we've caught like partially concealing it, but we know what's going in the bag. She's coming out without it. >> Have you guys actually seen the tool? It's it's like some kind of curve hook or something like she using that. Oh >> yeah, she does. She does. >> She's sticking it in the top. >> It may be It's not uncommon or it's not super common, but sometimes they use razor blades. You >> see she's sticking it's like some kind of hook that she's stick here and take the sensors off >> and she's concealing the cross. She keep going in and out of her shirt. >> The woman's every trick and move had been fully observed. When the moment came, the police immediately moved in and caught her red-handed just as she was about to leave. >> Mall. She's on the escalator heading downstairs. >> She's walking towards the entrance. >> Inside of the mall. >> Yeah. Like going into the mall, not mobile. >> Okay. >> Okay. 41 to 44. She's going back to the Aborn side. Stay over there. She She walked out. 41 4. She just walked out. >> All right, we got her. Can you give us all the merchandise? Have a seat. >> Do you have your ID with you, ma'am? Is it in your bag? >> Is it in your purse? >> Yeah, we got it. >> All the evidence pulled from her bag was enough to charge her. And the police also found her tool. Funny enough, even with all the proof in front of her, she still tried to lie. >> This right here. >> Yeah, that's it. >> Like, >> this is supposed to be toenail cutter, but snip stuff. And then this goes inside >> to take the sensors off. >> I guess it must come over the camera. >> Okay. >> Oh, okay. 1622. >> Let me put that amount. >> 1622. >> Okay. >> You have a receipt that's dated and time stamp for today. >> For today. >> It was No, it wasn't for today. It was just in that bag, but I got the receipt for that. It was I swear to God, it was bought off my card. You can pull my card. >> So, you paid for that? >> How long ago? When when did you buy this? >> Four days ago. >> Four days ago. And it happens to be in the same bag with the merchandise that you stole today. >> I bought that bag in here. You can look at your camera and see. I bought that bag in here with that in there because I was returning I came [snorts] here originally to return a purse that I bought off of. If you purse >> So, okay. >> Look at my purse. You'll still be able to be >> Do you have proof that you did already buy that? Besides from our from our debit card, and it's it's been paid for, I promise you. >> The items on her receipt didn't match what was in her bag, completely undermining her denials. The store manager also provided a statement, raising further suspicion. >> Sto from bel. >> She had a receipt in her purse that she pulled out, tried to tuck in into that bag to look like she was paying for it. She probably used it at another store. >> I came in here with a purse. Okay. I had that in the old Navy bag with those pants in it. And I had that purse in here. I would that see that's proof of the purchase right down the back the yellow sticker look on the back of the tag you just looked back that's proof of purchase that's what they put on there >> proof of purchase required for return >> that's when you steal it and you go in and you try to say hey I bought this but I lost my receipt so can I return this and then they it doesn't matter she's already going to jail it was over a felony amount to go >> it doesn't matter >> yeah I know it's not I'm not making a big deal out of You just exit four street. >> The sub total is 562. >> Hold on. 562. So that's the amount that we have there. >> Yeah. Which one? >> The subtotal, not including the tax, but >> it's still a felony. Yeah, it's it's on here. I was just looking at the wrong amount. >> Regardless, the stolen items alone were enough to charge her with a felony. This raises the question, what was behind her actions? A reason that will truly disappoint you in this woman. >> You got kids or you trying to sell that? >> I have kids that that stuff is going to go to. >> What do you want? >> You work? >> I really was going to sell it. >> Did that Uber lift job? Get a few extra dollars in the legal way. It is a learning experience. >> Figure out how she going to get keys to get in the house and stuff. That's just awful. I'm so stupid. And I got >> She doesn't have her own keys to the house. >> Well, she somebody stole her, so she just lost everything. But [snorts] I got a cousin that live in Savannah. But >> 56250. not >> following shoplifting and also possession of tools and a commission into a crime. >> It's taken as a learning experience and trying not to let it happen again and everybody makes mistakes or do it. >> The woman was charged with felony shoplifting and possession of tools. No matter how clever someone thinks they are, surveillance and evidence catch every move. Trying to justify theft or lie in front of proof only worsens the consequences, turning a momentary act into a serious felony. >> Legally arresting me right now. >> We got a call. >> WHERE'S MY RIGHT? >> Hurry up. >> WHERE IS [screaming] MY RIGHT? >> WE GOT A CALL. >> On October 14th, 2025, police received a call from a quick check convenience store reporting that a woman had stolen items from the store and left without paying. When officers approached her, the woman clearly showed a complete loss of control. >> Do me a favor. Put your Put your hands behind your back. Put your hands Put your hands behind your back. Put your >> You cannot touch me. >> Hey, put your hands behind. >> You're arrested. >> I didn't do anything. You're arresting and it isn't by standard. >> Come here. Come here. Come here. >> What did I do? >> You're going to be detained. >> No, I'm not. >> You're going to be detained. >> No, I'm not. >> You're going to be detained. >> A Gucci is my parent. You need to stand up. You don't even have cameras on. I am not. I'm innocent. >> No, I'm not. Hermit, >> you honor? >> No, I am not arresting. Send another >> stop. >> No, because you're rescuing me. You guys are [laughter] >> Get this arm. >> You guys got to back up. >> Ma'am, put your hands behind your back. >> No, cuz I'm innocent. Put your hand behind your back. >> No. >> Hold on. >> Yep. >> I am boss man's key and you're [ __ ] this up. >> Got it. >> Yep. You got this one. >> I know. Get that. Get that cuff right there. Ma'am, let go. >> No. >> You're making this worse than it is. >> No, you guys are making a wish for yourselves for another. >> Okay. Go. I got it. I got it. >> No, you guys can't. >> You got it. Click that. >> What did I do legally? >> Okay. All right. What did I do legally? You have to give me my rights. You got to give me my rights. Youing piece of [ __ ] >> Stop. >> No. What did I do? >> The woman acted as if she knew the arrest procedures. Well, perhaps this was not her first time. It was clear that even when police gave their reasons, she did not accept them easily. >> What did I do? >> The reason why we're here is for a call uh uh shoplifting. >> No, I didn't. >> Okay. >> I didn't. >> Flax, >> you don't have proof. Where's your proof? >> You came out of my You're being detained right now. No, cuz Johnny O is my boss chief. >> Boss man. >> Okay. You're being detained right now and you're resisting. Okay. >> No, because you illegally are arresting me. >> Okay. Okay. >> No, I will not go. I You will see how this works. >> Wait, let's wait for another unit. [snorts] >> No, you're not going to. >> Listen. Listen. >> If you continue to fight and >> No, CUZ YOU HAVE NO RIGHT. WHAT IS YOUR LEGAL RIGHT? Call me. I >> You don't have no right. Where's my camera? >> Okay. >> What did I do? >> You're You are being detained >> for what? >> And now under arrest >> for what? >> For resisting. >> For what? >> For the theft. >> I didn't thief. >> Despite her constant denials, police found the items believed to be stolen inside her bag. Even so, the woman continued to escalate the situation, pushing it further into chaos. >> Okay. All right. Stop. Listen. Stop resisting. You're going to make it worse for yourself. >> No, because you guys can't touch me. >> Okay. Well, >> got four packs of cigarettes >> that I paid for. >> Okay. >> All right. Well, we're going to we're going to find out. Okay. >> Hey, listen. If you paid for them, no problem. >> Stand down. You [ __ ] lieutenant. STAND DOWN. [screaming] STANDING DOWN. UNARREST me right now. You have to legally unarrest me. >> MAKE THAT CALL RIGHT NOW CUZ I'VE BEEN SUFFERING PTSD CUZ of you. That's why you're on auto play. >> So, we have a deal for you. Ain't ready. >> Relax. >> No, you can't because you have to unrest me. Can I ask you a question? What >> did you pay for the cigarettes? >> Yes, I did. >> If we if >> listen for the cigarettes, no problem. Okay. >> Okay. And then you're going to get popped. >> Okay. No problem. >> No problem. Please, Daniel, please help me because you guys are boss and boss woman and we sanction them and I'm freaking the out. >> You illegally arresting me right now. 963 or 962. Okay. >> If you stand up and you start kicking, you're going to be thrown to the ground. All right. >> Okay. And then walk towards him and you jar. >> No. Maria, RELAX. RELAX. >> CUZ YOU'RE UNREST. >> Where's the point of acting like this for? >> Because you're arresting me illegally. >> No, we're not. >> Yes, you are. >> We got to call. >> Where is my right? >> Maria, >> WHERE IS MY [screaming] RIGHT? >> WE GOT TO CALL. >> The woman repeatedly demanded her rights, insisting that police read them to her first. It turned out she had a reason behind such a strong understanding of her authority. Oh, she's right here. Let's put her in the back of her car. >> No, you're not allowed to. >> Yeah, you are. >> No. Until you prove that legally by these brown floors, you cannot. >> Watch her feet. >> One foot. >> You have one foot in me to do this for life. >> I don't have a cage. >> Oh. Um, >> hold it. Let me grab my car. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> All right. >> Before we put her in though, just pat her down quick, >> man. Put your shoe on. >> I'm a war veteran and you're doing this illegally. I need to let you know I'm g after crime. >> You're on body cam. Okay. >> Yeah, I know I am because Johnny needs that. >> Okay, >> go ahead. Let me in. >> I'm not charged by kicking. >> No, I didn't. >> Because I you that's legally. >> There was no need for none of this, Maria. >> Yes, >> because you guys get sentenced for life for this. Watch. >> Okay. >> Walk her over there. As soon as as soon as we got just going crazy. >> Okay. >> For no reason. >> Because you're arresting me illegally. I'm I'm legally allowed. >> Yeah. She slapped me. >> Okay. It's two counts. >> Uh she swatted away from me on my arm. >> I have a female officer. See if we can get them here. >> I'm going to go to quick check and I'm going to uh She did have uh four packs of uh >> we have the >> cigarettes in the Yeah. in her uh >> grab her purse. Search it. >> At that point, as she had demanded, she was read her Miranda rights after resisting. However, it seemed she had no intention of listening to them in full. >> You have the right to remain silent. Anything you didn't will be used against. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have him or her present with you while you are being questioned. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before any questioning if you wish. >> You can decide at any time to exercise these rights. And I have and not answer any questions or make any statements. So, you understand rights. No, because you're arresting me illegally and you have no proof. I need you to call my lawyer quick check and um talk to um just see if we can get the video off. So that's going to take some time. >> Yeah. Um >> I have to get unarrested legally. >> That's not happening. >> Where you from? >> I am from here my attorney and I am the briefcase and I am dying right now because this is illegal. 958 958 958 958 That's why I have change left over. >> What do you take? >> Nothing. I'm sober. You guys are not. >> Oh, really? >> Yeah. >> Oh, wow. >> You guys are not because of how you're doing. >> Can I just explain something to you? We got We received the call from Quick Check. >> Yeah, but what you're doing is illegal. It's against We don't call PD. It's against your guys' laws down here, and I know my life. >> The woman remained adamant that everything the police did was illegal. At the same time, an officer took a statement from the store employee, making it clear that she was not as sober as she claimed. >> Hi, Paul. >> So, uh, give me the, uh, backtory. What happened? Okay. So, she comes in. That's what she said. Cuz I wasn't out there. >> I stay in the front. >> She wasn't >> coming here and she took it out the >> So, she just walked back in here and just from where exactly from here? >> Yeah. >> The shelf. >> Okay. Yeah. Please don't mind. So, yeah. So, so she walks in and then she just >> she took it out. Yeah. I said, "What you doing?" And she said, "That's free ticket." >> She said it's free and then she just walks out with it. Okay. Did she attack any of you guys or anything like that? Like, did she hit like physically touch you guys or anything or No. So, she just walked in here, went to the uh shelf, and then walked right out saying it's free. >> Okay. >> How many was it? >> 43. >> How many packs? >> That's that one. I for Yeah. >> So, let me confirm. Did she pay for anything? >> No. >> No. Okay. Do you uh do you mind bringing these up? Give me a receipt for these, please. Um I need the um the receipt for these. And then just bring them back because I'm going to take pictures of them. Okay. Is that her? >> So, so if you don't mind just Yeah. A bit further back. >> Yeah. Just so I can get it from the very beginning. >> Okay. So, she's right here. Is that okay? >> Yeah. Let me just uh um I'm going to give you a card with my email if you don't mind. Just um when you get a moment, email it to me. Um it's a it's it's a short clip, so I don't think it's going to It's not like a >> You took it. How many? She took >> She bought this one at around 9ish. >> She bought that one. >> Yes, >> she Okay. This one she bought >> in the morning to save. >> Okay. I mean, if she bought it, then that's fine. >> Just Okay. Okay, so let me hold on to this and then if you these ring them up and then just bring them back. I want to take a picture of it. >> Back to the woman, she was taken to the police station. Given what officers had already faced, they were forced to issue careful warnings. >> Listen, Maria, I'm I'm I'm just I'm just trying to come out at a diplomatic manner. All right. If you start kicking >> I'm not going to. I just don't. >> Okay. As long as you know your rights, that's fine. But if you start kicking or doing any anything stupid, it's not legally being detained for no reason. And I need some water. >> All right, we're going to get you some water. >> And I need you to call my attorney, Miriam Gad, and >> Yeah, we're going to do all that when we're finished. Okay. >> Okay, cool. >> Just to be clear, you're not being detained right now. You're under arrest >> for what? >> Aggravated assault on law enforcement. >> Shoplifting and resisting. >> No, illegally, right? Please don't do that right now. >> No, it's not illegally. You can have You can see Yeah, we're not No, that's fine. That's fine. You got to see >> which way. >> Whichever way you want. >> Step over the the chain. >> Um Maria, just so you know, I did I did confirm these are yours. Okay. You did pay for these in the morning. Okay. >> I did for it all. >> No, you didn't. But okay. >> And you can't come me to jail. You have to legally buy the rights of this child. You have to give me a ticket because that's under law to not ever send me to jail because you're by >> There was something odd here. She now claims she should only receive a ticket and not go to jail. Even though she had clearly denied any wrongdoing earlier, it was obvious she knew exactly what she was doing. >> I'm right here and legally under Clifton and under Little Falls, you cannot detain me for these charges. I'm supposed to get legally ticketed. >> Okay. >> Okay. Why? Cuz why are you guys overriding this? So you guys are charging me illegally. >> I mean, it depends on, you know, but watch my attorney, please. >> You got to fill out some paperwork. the way this is going to go down. >> No, because I need to know why you guys are charging me to go to jail when this is a like minimal assault. >> Okay, listen to me. We got to go with like you're going to have a chance to call whoever you'd like. >> You have the number. I don't have it cuz you I don't have a phone. >> I don't know who your attorney is. We won't we won't please call her. >> We will give you a phone and you call whatever number you want to call. All right. >> You just said they're not pretending. >> Are you dependent on alcohol or drugs? >> No, you are. >> Okay. Have you tried suicide before? No, you are. >> Okay. Are you thinking about yourself right now? >> No, you are. >> Okay. Yes. >> Are you presently taking any medication? >> No, you are. >> Do you use alcohol? >> No, you are. >> Use any street drugs? >> No, you are. You guys are trafficking illegally. >> Okay. Have you tried to kill yourself or done serious harm for yourself? >> You have and it's illegal. [music] >> Do you have any serious medical or mental problems right now? >> Have you had any previous mental or emotional problems? >> No, but you do. >> Have you ever been hospitalized for any mental or emotional problem? No, you have. >> Are you pregnant by any? >> No, [snorts] but you are. Times two. >> Are you on any special diets? >> No, but you are. Times three. >> Finally, the woman was charged with resisting arrest, aggravated assault on an officer, and shoplifting. Knowing the law does not excuse illegal actions. Using that knowledge to resist only makes the consequences worse. Next, meet the robot man who merely repeated his words as if programmed. On January 18th, 2024, police received a report from Walmart about a theft followed by a suspect fleeing the scene. The male suspect ran to a nearby gas station, immediately triggering a tense pursuit. Come here, MAN. Right now, we're uh inside. Come here, man. Stop. STOP. 329. He's uh still over here. He's right next to my car. I'm walking. >> Every move he made showed he was familiar with the area and skilled at fleeing, but he had no idea that other officers were waiting for him elsewhere. Hey, you better come here. Get on the ground. Drop the bag and get on the ground. Drop the bag. Do it now. Give me your hands. Give me hands. >> 314 radio one detain. Yeah, that was Come here. Hey sir, if you lean back like that, I'm going to charge obstruction and I'm like you been waiting on me. And I'm in here only down there. There you go. Hey, hold on here. Sit right at your feet. >> The man seemed to give up when he saw police blocking every route. His words appeared to repeat nonsensically, but in reality, they only served to provoke the officers. >> He died, too. She died, too. You died, too. She died, too. You going to catch anyway? >> She going to catch robet. >> Oh, you want to change your >> Yeah. It's >> a yeah. Oh, you ain't going to kill me. You ain't going to kill. Okay. to death. >> That word a long time ago. >> The man's repetitive, almost programmed speech clearly reflected his mental instability, but it quickly escalated into even greater chaos once he was seated in the patrol car. >> Hey, I can't breathe in here. >> I can't Can you BREAK CUT THE CONE? CUT THE CONE THEN I CAN'T BREATHE. I just told I can't breathe in here. >> You should have been running. >> Cut the Cut the cone though, dog. >> Cut the cone. >> This dude [ __ ] boy. >> Move your foot, man. Move. Move your foot. This is me. Very carefully. >> Yo, pull his ass back over there. >> I got him. Hey, I told you I couldn't breathe. Okay. Hey, did I just tell you breathe? >> No seizure could cause someone to curse so coherently. Immediately after the police took firm action, his condition seemed to subside entirely. I'm kill you. I'm kill you, [ __ ] I'mma kill you. I'mma kill you. J little [ __ ] Let me get his bro. Yeah. I'mma kill you. He dirty. >> No, you ain't got to do that. I ain't ain't nobody over there. >> Oh my god. radio street. >> What What's your name, man? >> I ain't got no idea. I ain't got no idea. >> And y'all point white, man. You go ahead. >> You go ahead when I'm out the way. You go ahead. You scared to die. You scared to die. Look at Don't talk. Don't talk to God talking about absolutely when you threaten me. You scared to die. I look at you. They scared to die. They scared to die. Look at them. They scared to die. They risk another man beside they all they good at. They scared to die. You got to start. You s I one on you. I want on you to pull. You try to get me a robbery. Look at you. You going to die. Die. >> Shortly after, police returned to Walmart and spoke with staff and witnesses. Could something crazy have happened there? >> But I didn't see him until he was in the jewelry and stuff. >> So he picked out two bags, started stealing the watches that were pumped and start watching them. Then he grabbed a TV. >> So the book bags don't belong in that bed. >> Correct. No. And then he grabbed a TV and he went to hardware where the hand tools are at. And I went to go front and then he kind of was like getting himself prepared and then he laid the TV down and he started reaching his pocket like he had some. So, of course, I retreated back up and he just took off running down the aisles, knocked the doors, saying, "Don't get blasted. Don't get blasted." And that's when we took off, went out the door, went down. >> Okay. We didn't see him cut anything with a knife. >> No, I didn't see him. >> But, um, on the 15th, he did the kind of the same thing. We had everything a buggy and he ran out this door, ran straight ahead. He was still loading up merchandise from where he stole the car over, but that was on the 15th, but nobody was able to find him. But, he came back again today. Do you have a total? Do you all have a total for the >> Yeah, War got it. It was what? 636. It was 63 tax before tax like 583. >> They're definitely over 500. So, >> do you'all want to press charges for the 15th or >> 3 days ago? The 15th. >> No, 15th. December 15th. >> All right, I guess we're off. He was transported to Deobb County Jail where he continued acting up and put on a dramatic scene. >> What you saying me do is speak? >> Step out of the car for me. >> Okay. >> At the police station, the man showed no guilt. Instead, he continued insisting that he was the victim in what he will claimed was a setup portraying him as the criminal. >> Where you want me to go, though? >> We're going to go right here. >> Okay, [ __ ] I know. No, back here behind the line. No, >> you won't ask me though, [ __ ] You won't tell me. You behind the line for me, please. Before you ask me anything, you won't you won't [ __ ] say, [ __ ] and I want the truth before I give you any information on my [ __ ] Jeffrey Reese, [ __ ] You going to say ain't scared [ __ ] [ __ ] I bet you, [ __ ] I bless you FOR 10 ON EVERY COUNT. 10 ON every count on 10 count. I'm 10,000 on the head. I'M PAYING 10,000 ON YOUR HEAD and police. You can't take that. You can't take it. You can't take it though. SO STOP BELIEVING IN THE POLICE. YOU AIN'T GOT NO MONEY. PAY 10 ON YOUR HEAD. You ain't got no money. AND IN THE UNITED STATES AIN'T GOT VALUE. 10 on the back. I'mma take 10. I GOT 10,000 ON EVERY POLICE ENDORS. I got 10,000. They just pulled the mother goddamn They pulled the movie 10,000 10,000 and I ain't gonna catch you. Keep your mask on. I ain't got for you, boy. You living in a fire. Let youard what you said though. >> I just heard what I just heard what you said. Hit me in my face. >> I just heard what the you said. >> MAN, YOU JUST SAID WHAT YOU SAID THOUGH. >> HEY, WHAT YOU WHAT YOU MAN? HE JUST SAID WHAT YOU SAID THOUGH, DOG. WE CAN'T SHOW WHAT YOU I HEARD WHAT YOU SAID THOUGH. OH, WHAT YOU BING, MAN? WHAT YOU SAYING THEN? >> What you doing? >> Okay. >> I don't understand none of that. How was it, man? What you doing? >> That's it. >> Finally, the man was charged with two counts of theft by shoplifting and obstruction. This combination only escalated tension with the police and [music] complicated the situation, showing how unadressed instability and refusal to take responsibility can spiral into chaos. >> Like, why? Why give me part of it and not like theft's theft? >> I barely lasted 3 days. On March 17th, 2025, police received a call from Walmart about a woman deliberately hiding merchandise in her purse while shopping with her family. When [snorts] officers arrived, she tried to flee, but was intercepted. Here's what happened next. >> I can't roll my window down. >> What is it? Okay. My name's Alic Chai Police Department. Okay. The reason why I stopped you is because loss prevention was apparently watching her in the store. When I passed you, >> they didn't give me a real good information there. I would have stopped you there. Okay. So, apparently she has some items that she didn't pay for [music] >> these. No, I'm going to say it's not the Hormell uh pepperonis. >> Uh he listed a jacket, [music] a bra. >> Here's the jacket. >> Did you pay for the jacket? >> Okay, >> there. That's what he's asking you. >> So, the jacket. What [music] else? >> I didn't even know she didn't have clothing. What? >> I didn't even know she Is that it? >> What else? I can't roll. I'm sorry. >> What else? Is there anything else? >> You can open up that door. >> Yeah, open the fuse is blow or something. It does that sometimes. >> Okay. Is this it? No brawl. >> No, I put it back. >> You put the bra back? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Do you have an ID? Driver's license, a anything. [music] Just a picture ID. >> Sure. Don't drive away. Don't run me over. >> These women showed no shock at the police's accusations, even handing over the items they had taken without a hint of shame. Yet, even after returning some merchandise, officers received reports that several items were still unaccounted for. >> I don't know where she dropped that, so she put it back. I don't know why she would give me the shirt and the shorts and not the bra. She handed it all over to me as soon as I walked up there. >> 23, will you ask her where she dropped the bra at? Uh, near the shoes, I think >> she says near the shoes, she say she thinks >> I don't know. >> Near the shoes. >> Receipt for this. Okay. >> She's got a Cincinnati shirt, too. >> So, that was it. >> See if she see if she dumped it. >> Ask her if she has a Cincinnati shirt or she dropped it. Also, >> I was just about to call you. You want her to come in the store and show you? >> Well, I mean, is there in her purse or no? >> I mean, she's saying no, but >> can you see it anywhere? >> Here. Where's your purse at? >> Is it in it? >> Yeah. You better give them. >> What? >> I mean, yeah, there's a bra in here. >> What kind of bra was it? Does it matter? I mean, >> go where? >> Where's the tag on? >> XXL black cross sports >> bra. >> Brand a >> Okay. >> Um, you want me to bring her in? >> Tell them they need to wait. >> There's a pair of red shorts in here as well. What else? >> Yeah, just bring bring her bring her up here. >> All right. All right. All right, go ahead and for me. >> All right, walk back to my cruiser. Walk back to my cruiser. >> At this point, the woman behind the theft was handcuffed by police and escorted back to Walmart. Officers then inspected her bag further, uncovering additional items and revealing her incomplete disclosure. >> Can you place your hand together like you're praying? >> We're just going to the office. Okay. You're not going to jail or anything. We're going to figure out what's going on. I mean, you were you were being honest there for a little bit. So, what happened? What happened? >> So, you didn't want them to know. >> Well, she got there. She's really starting to piss me off now. >> Yeah, she was being honest. She said she lied because her friends are in the car with her and that's her boyfriend's family. She didn't want them knowing. >> They already knew. Wait, those are shorts. I thought they were shorts. >> Yeah. >> I don't think she sold that. They didn't even sell that one. >> This? >> Yes, this was it. >> Sell that one. >> This the bra. >> Is the Is the bag still? >> No, the bag's not. >> That's her babe. The woman also explained her reason for trying to conceal the stolen items. She acted without shame in committing the wrongdoing. Yet in reality, she was careful about maintaining her image. >> He's here too, I assume. >> What? >> Like why why give me part of it and not like theft's theft? Like it doesn't matter whether it's a penny or $999.99. I'm thinking it's the same. Like what was the point in giving me a shirt and a pair of shorts? >> Cuz my boyfriend's family was in the car and I didn't want them. >> Well, they already knew obviously cuz when I walked up, you gave me a shirt and a and a sweater. That's all I said. That's not a real good reason. Okay. Well, we'll get a total for this stuff. >> [laughter] [sighs] >> I barely lasted 3 days. [panting] >> Tears of remorse streamed down her face when she realized her relatives already knew the whole truth. She had believed she could hide her wrongdoing, but in reality, they all saw that she was only deceiving herself. Are >> you lying? You're being honest. I don't know why you're lying. >> That fine. >> Yeah. >> Oh, okay. >> That's it, right? >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Just uh I tried to tell her not to lie. You know what I mean? I tried. >> Yeah. >> She's 18 and done. You know, >> 19, but yeah, >> whatever. That's my brother's girlfriend. So, >> yeah. Well, she don't have any contacts with us. >> Like, I put her name on her computer and she don't have any contacts with us at all. >> Never been in trouble at all. Really? It's first time. >> Yeah. She kicked her off. >> Maybe it was scared. Yeah. >> I mean, I had I had full intentions of taking the stuff. >> I knew you didn't. I knew you did. So, I tried to tell her. I didn't know she had more in that bag. I said, "Give me that bag. Let me look through it." She >> Yeah. >> All right. Thank you, guys. Yep. >> Where'd he go? >> He went through the receipt. Yeah. >> You sure this bag's not stolen? >> He said I saw it. >> Looks kind of new. Now she was taken to the police station where officers explained the procedures to her. Remarkably, her attitude remained unashamed, treating the experience as just another milestone of being 18. >> I ain't never been here before. Uh, nothing concealed on your bra, on your body, anything like that. Okay. >> You don't even have any contacts in our system. Mhm. >> I said, "You don't even have any contacts in our system." It's a heck of a way to start out here. So, we're going to learn learn a lesson at this point. So, being you never been here. I'll kind of explain your process to you a little bit. Uh they'll come down out here. They want to patch you down and then they'll put you in that little body scanner there. They scan your body. Then they'll book you in, take your picture, and slide you in one of the cells. Okay. You have court tomorrow morning. Down here, ma'am. In the end, the woman was charged with theft. Hiding wrongdoing only delays consequences. Even without shame, deception is obvious, and honesty could have spared her legal trouble. Next, meet this deceitful pickpocket. >> I'm a black girl and I don't have time for this. >> I can appreciate that. >> Yeah, I don't care about that. YOU KNOW WHY I'M INSULTED? Because I I came to this casino. On December 19th, 2021, police responded to a report from a casino where a man claimed that money was taken from his pocket during an altercation with a woman. Shortly afterward, officers made contact with the suspect driving a vehicle matching the given description. >> Hey, can you drop the car for me? >> Can you drop the car for me? I'll call you. >> No, no, you just need to stop right. >> No, no, no, no, no, no. >> Okay, he's got right here, man. >> All right. So, >> I just had an accident. >> Yes. So, there's a couple reason why I'm stopping. Okay. First of all, you're going you're going 15 miles hour, 35 m. >> Okay. And then second of all, UM WHAT HAPPENED? >> YEAH. SO, I WAS ACTUALLY playing a game with and then this guy, he had a drink and then this guy was like, "Oh, um, I'm missing my money. I don't have time for that drunk ass. My family owns funeral homes and we own the restaurant." >> I don't need to say [ __ ] >> What's up? What's your name? >> My name I just wanted to do talk to you like, you know, um, can you just drop the car for me real quick? Okay. >> Um, listen, Calhoun. Um, do you have your license on you? So, here's the deal. Here's the how much did you had to drink today? >> Cuz you were also the road when I was behind you. Okay. >> The woman gave her own version of what had happened. But setting that aside, she was now facing a charge of driving under the influence. >> I had you were you willing to do so? >> YEAH. I DON'T CARE about that. You know why I'm insulted? Because I I came to this casino for the first time and a guy lost his money cuz he drunk. Excuse me. I don't need to steal my family. >> That's something I don't need to do. >> Yeah. Okay. Uh, no. >> Um, okay. Oh, so listen. >> Yeah, I'm done. I'm done. >> I'm done. >> We're going to get the story. Okay. First, we have to make sure that you were okay to drive. Okay. >> When I was going to focus, >> nobody [ __ ] ever my You can run my family. >> Nobody. >> The woman tried to deflect the investigation into her intoxication by lashing out over the man who claimed his money was missing. She insisted that it was merely a misunderstanding. >> Let them pull up the cameras. I don't care. >> If you guys want to walk a black girl out, that's fine. Like, seriously. I mean, he's whispering about something, but at the end of the day, I don't need to kill >> Yeah. Um, well, here's the thing. Okay. >> Yes. >> You're saying that this is kind of a misunderstanding, right? >> Yes. >> And so, I would assume because you're an honest person, you want to clear up any misunderstanding. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Do you mind? There's an allegation that money was taken, which you know, that's why you're not at the casino. Or not to say that. Hang on. Hang on. Yeah. That's not why you're not at the casino. Sorry, that's my bad. You're not at the casino anymore. There was some type of incident there. Um, so what I would like to do is see they're saying that maybe you took the money with you and it's in the car now. >> Search my car. >> Would you mind if we take a look in the car? >> Search my car. >> Why don't you walk? I'll walk back here with you. This officer is going to uh take a look in your car. >> Wait a minute. >> After you search my car, then we'll >> If there's nothing here, if someone's saying you stole something and you brought it with you and we look in the car and there's nothing because you went straight from here to there. You didn't stop at home. You didn't stop anymore. So, if you don't have it on you and it's not in the car, then you didn't take it, right? >> No, I have no reason to lie. I have money. >> So, let's just walk back here out of the street and then you're being honest and forthright and hopefully everybody. >> Police tried to persuade her to allow a search of the vehicle. And although she agreed, her attitude made it clear that the consent was given reluctantly. >> At the end of the day, I'm a black girl and I don't have time for this. >> I I appreciate that. Nobody has time for this. And it's >> No, I don't. I don't have time for this. I don't need to steal anything. >> Remember, we talked about the yelling. >> I'm sorry. >> Thank you. >> No, it's just upset. >> I know. Nobody wants to be falsely accused of >> I have money in my car, but I mean >> I know when you were playing at the casino. There's nothing illegal about. >> I do have money in my car. Let's see if I have something like that. >> I don't know. >> How much money you think you have in the car? >> I don't know. >> Well, I mean, throw out and like 50 bucks, 10,000. >> What the hell? I have 2,000 maybe 100. >> Is that in hundreds and five? >> Yeah, cuz I lost. >> [ __ ] I lost about 1,800. >> I don't got time for that. Like seriously, embarrassing. >> Right. >> Well, luckily you're not from here, so nobody knows you. So nobody's seeing you and putting you on Instagram live or anything. So there's no >> I don't know where you guys are. I'm not from here. Like it it was just like a bad experience. I come to you know on this happen the first guy I >> even talk to like this is embarrassing. My family owns funerals, >> right? >> Like seriously. >> And that's a good business, you know. >> Yeah. >> What do you do? Like what do you do for that? >> I I >> despite the officer's serious and methodical approach, the woman's attempts to prove her innocence seemed unshakable. However, she later resorted to other actions in an effort to gain sympathy. >> Yes, sir. From 21. Um, she gave consent to go through the car. There's no proceeds or anything in your car. My first time coming out. >> My first time coming out. >> Got like paid me $90. >> We searched your person. >> Yeah. So, here's the thing, okay? And I don't want to be um indelicate, but you've been very cooperative and I think you're a very honest person. And I think that that's obvious by how upset you are right now. So to me that would indicate that you're telling the truth. Okay. >> I'm just mad. I've been a second 10 years of my life. >> Right. >> He left me. I go to the casino and then a guy say his money is gone. >> So would you mind if my female partner here just check um your person to make sure that you don't have anything on you? I don't have. >> Shortly afterward, a search of the woman was initiated, but her behavior grew even more suspicious as she repeatedly refused to let officers check her back pockets. >> Hold on. I got my period, girl. >> Okay. So, what what is this right here? >> I got my period. >> Okay. So, what is this lump right here in your take your hands out? >> I got my period right here. Where is it? >> Yeah. >> No, I'll show you. Me and you can. >> Okay. So, so stop. >> All right. You have something now. No, I show you. Okay. It's my area. You want it? My All right. Now, you need to go back. >> What? My money. >> No, you're not being honest. >> I don't have to lie about you. This is my money. >> Okay. So, can I pat down the rest of you then? Yeah, feel free. Like, stop moving. >> All right, just right here. Leave your hands off >> here. I'll take this for a second. >> All right. Can you spread your leg? >> Sweetie, I have my period right here. >> Okay, I get it. But I'm doing your thigh. Okay, >> sweetie. I have my period. >> She understands. She's also >> She's moving everything around. >> I'm not moving my period. >> I just felt something else and then now you're just moving it. >> Sweetie, my pad. >> Okay, >> my pad. >> Okay, your pad's not going to be all the way in the back of your thigh. She was later taken to the police station where officers found $3,000 concealed in her pants. She was charged with theft and driving under the influence. Emotional outbursts and attempts to play the victim only deepened suspicion. Refusing to cooperate calmly with police often turned a manageable situation into serious criminal charges. >> You're most likely concealing items right now that were shoplifted. >> No, I'm not. Yes, you are. No, I'm not right. >> No, I'm not. On February 17th, 2023, officers responded to Windco Foods after a report of an ongoing theft. The suspect, an older woman accompanied by her two grandchildren. The moment officers arrived, store employees showed them the unfolding events on camera, revealing exactly what was happening. >> I I did, but to answer the door, I lost a female. She had a She has a Hoba box on her. >> She has a what? >> A health and beauty product. She A [ __ ] >> It's okay. It's okay. >> She has a purse. I can't find her right now. So, this is grandma. She has all the product and [ __ ] on her, but she has something grandma's right there. >> Yeah, she has something yellow. And then just to answer you guys, I Man, at one [ __ ] second. >> Okay. So, >> she Oh, is she wearing black? >> Yes. So, she had a box in her hood in either she just picked it up to conceal her pants right now, but then she has something else in her bag. What? >> Grandma now? >> No. Yeah, they've been concealing together. I don't know why they're separating all of a sudden. >> And there's another female. A smaller female for sure. >> Um, >> so would you you want the items back? Obviously. >> Oh, hell yeah. >> Then you want him trespassed. >> Oh, most death. >> Okay. >> So, I can show you real quick that way. >> Um, here we go. There's grandma. >> Cuz they haven't passed points of sale yet. Um, let me What aisle is this right here? >> This is frozen. This is >> All right. I'm Let's go make contact and then uh you can chill here. >> Okay. So, she has she has something in her bag and then again she has a yellow box. I don't know where it is. It's House of Beauty cuz it's just me right now. >> Okay. >> But grandma has a ton of stuff in her purse on top of her purse. >> Okay. Knowing for sure that the woman had hidden the items on her instead of waiting for her to pass the final point at the checkout counter, they decided to catch her on the spot. Let's see how she reacted when they approached her. >> Hey ladies. >> Ladies, how you doing today? >> Okay. >> Hey, uh let's go ahead and bring all this. We're going to go down to the LP office. We're going to go have a little chat. Okay, >> cool. >> We're going to have a chat. Why? >> Yeah. So, right now, um, you're you're most likely concealing items right now that were shoplifted. So, let's just go have a talk down at the LP office so we don't have to make a talk out here. Okay. >> Okay. But I think you're mistaking. >> Okay. Well, if I am, then I am. So, let's go have a talk. >> So, go ahead and just follow me. >> What about all my frozen food? >> Uh, if Hey, if it's a mistake, we'll we'll we'll get some new ones. Okay. Go right. Go right. Go right. Ma'am, stop taking items out of the bag. Kind of a dumb move, right? We're going to go straight to customer service. You want to go ahead, Pablo? Just slow it down, ladies. We're going to go just follow this officer. The woman pretended to be confused as if she were innocent. She was also very cooperative while being escorted to the loss prevention office. But things started to become difficult when the officers decided to detain the suspects. >> Just go ahead and put your hands behind your back for a second. Why? >> Ma'am, put your hands behind your back. >> Why? >> Cuz you're being detained for shop. That's why. >> No, I'm not. Yes, you are. No, I'm not right. >> No, I'm not. >> Relax. Look over the purse. >> Relax. Get it. Let go of the curse. >> Stop fighting with us. Do it. Stop. Do it. Dad, >> do it now. Not so much first. Do it now. >> No. Whatever you want me to do here. Yeah. No. >> Drop anything you offered to take. >> Do it. >> Can you move? >> My bag. You're You're being safe. >> You You're saying some dumb [ __ ] >> You're saying dumb. >> Listen, you have three officers and you're fighting. You're You're not going >> You're hurting my arm. >> Well, you're resisting against us. >> Bring it back. >> Bring it back now and I'm going to throw you on the ground. What an idiot move. >> She tried to hold on tightly to her bag as if it were the only piece of evidence that would expose her. Her wrongdoing and taking the items and her confrontation with the officers were clearly not good behavior for her granddaughter to witness. This is how you set an example for this young lady. Have a seat. Have a seat. >> Say please. >> I'm not going to say please to you. You disrespected us by trying to resist arrest. Okay. >> Excuse me. Detainment. [laughter] Other one. This is This is >> Oh, they got a young one right there. >> Yeah, they have a minor minor. >> Hey, Pablo. >> Are they out with them? Can you take a look at him and just go grab? >> She's in the pepper aisle, which is aisle. Do >> you associate with him? >> Was she involved or she's just a little? >> No, she's just walking around. But I mean, if you want to bring her here just in case. >> Pink crocs black shirt. >> You walk up the door, make a right, go down, you'll see her. I was just going to like talk and stuff like that, but I figured again if she's dealing with her children or minors or whatever, >> you're going to be problematic. Anyway, what did you get scared of the buzz ball? You don't want the buzz ball. >> Who you talking to? >> You didn't want the buzz bomb? >> I said I didn't. >> All right. What's your name? What was that? >> Oh, I forgot she took the booze. My bad. I made a mistake. >> Let me get your bag over here. Okay. >> What the hell? >> I'm so sorry. >> It's not personal. It's just you >> don't understand. She took all the >> I did not know that. >> It was right next to you. >> I did not know that though. I was shopping through the store myself trying to get you. >> But whoever this is wrong >> for having that stuff in my purse. >> She just kind of ramped things up for a second. Okay. >> But I'm just trying to get here like alcohol or anything. Her face showed no sense of guilt for what she had done. And even her explanation for the incident was careless, suggesting that after many times doing this, this might be the first time she was caught. >> They're like, "Cool, fine. Handcuff me. If we have the wrong person, we release him." Right? Someone who feels guilty, they fight with us. Or someone who's dealt with this in the past, who has never in the past. I have never had anything like this happen to me. And I I'm telling you, I don't know how that got in there. >> Okay. I was going to the store shopping. I'm have a cart full of food to buy. >> Okay. >> And they came up to me and said that we had to come in here because there was a possibility of some shoplifting going on. >> I didn't know. I was walking through the store looking at stuff and everything. And some points I walked away from my purse. Look at your cameras. >> I don't know how it got in there. >> Okay. And was your purse in that little seat area the whole time or >> It was in the little seat area. Yes. >> Okay. How long would you say that you lost visual of your purse your whole time? >> I don't know. I I was looking at stuff trying to see check prices and and and figure out what I was going to get and probably at some points it might have been for a little while but Beth was there by my purse so I I don't know. >> Okay. >> Okay. Oh my god. >> I mean, technically, you just dumb and stuff except for what she was doing. I had no clue she was stealing alcohol. I don't even know what that [ __ ] is. Like I said, I don't drink. Okay. >> During the investigation, the woman kept pretending to be innocent and grew annoyed at every accusation. Even knowing there were cameras, she insisted they were lying, not her. >> Do it now. Do it now. >> Are you saying something like, "Do it now. right now. >> What were you telling her when we were putting handcuffs on you and we kept telling you no, don't do it. >> What will happen most likely is that >> what was I telling her? I don't even remember. >> I really don't. >> Was it in reference to going to the car? >> No, >> cuz I was mentioned. >> That's what she said. But I'm like, no. What are you talking about? Go to the car for what? >> Was it in reference to grabbing the purse in the cart from my hands? >> No. You're honest with me about anything. Okay. Do you understand how this isn't really adding up to us when we have video evidence and then you're resisting arrest with us to detain you for shoplifting for concealment? >> Video evidence of what? >> No, that wasn't here. Shoplifting is also considered concealment, not just pass points of sale. >> You have video surveillance that I was shoplifting. >> Yes, that's why we got >> my own purse. >> That's why we got called here. Yes. >> I'm not lying to you. I wouldn't lie to you about that. On the other hand, unlike her grandmother, the granddaughter gave a different statement which exposed her grandmother's lies. >> What else did you put in your bag? >> Also, >> do you have a middle name? >> The buzz. >> The buzz ball. >> Okay. >> No. But do you have a middle name or no? >> Jane. >> What is that? Like a alcohol drink? >> Legal first name. >> Yeah. Why you stealing alcohol? You're 16. >> Can you spell it for me? >> A r i n. >> It's okay. Relax. >> Do you have anything else on you right now? >> The grandmother was charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest. The grandmother's attempts to lie and confront officers not only escalated her own charges, but also set a bad example for her granddaughter. Honesty and cooperation are always the better choice. In the next case, this woman who tried to shop, but in a very different way. >> You don't put the items in. And if you were just doing that, why you you do it so secretly like that? >> Wait, can I top it? >> You know, you actually barged it. Come on. On May 17th, 2025, officers rushed to Walmart after reports of a woman concealing items in her purse. Caught in the act, she busily sifted through merchandise, unaware that she had been discovered. How are you? >> Hey, ma'am. So, right now, you're just getting detained for shoplifting. Okay. >> Oh, no. I'm buying stuff. >> Okay. So, right now you're just being detained. You're not arrested or anything. So, as of now, you are >> But I'm trying to buy >> Do what? >> I'm buying some stuff. Are you buying super glue? >> Yeah, I'm buying this stuff >> in your purse. >> Yeah, super glue. >> I was going to buy >> Okay. And when you're going to buy it, do you normally put items in your purse? >> Well, sometime they um like at that >> we're 10:26 right now. >> Okay. >> So, >> but I ain't walked out the store yet. I'm feeling vi. So, what I'm going to tell you right now is as against the law, you can't conceal items within your purse because that is part of statute. So, as I as I said, right now you are right now you're detained. Yeah. With like a purse like a like a a shopping bag that you buy from them. That's your purse. So, right now you're just detained. Okay. Until we can see video footage and from there they want to press charges, they can figure that out and you can talk with them about that. Okay. Can I talk? Can I talk to them because I I'll you know what I'm saying? Like >> we we'll review the videos. >> Okay. >> But I want to buy the stuff. >> She insisted she wasn't stealing, claiming she just hadn't paid yet. But concealing items in her purse was clearly wrong. And she even tried to justify her actions. But I'm saying like when you go to Kroger's and Publix, you can put stuff in a bag >> in in a in a dedicated shopping bag that has been bought by them. It's a recyclable bag. That's your purse that has all your other personal items in it. >> It ain't nothing ain't nothing. It's empty. Ain't nothing in there but my phone and my money >> with your personal items, right? So your purse, your little phone, and then everything else in there. So with the statute, it is concealing items. in that bag. >> I went to >> All right, we're going to go ahead and head over there so you can talk to him and everything. Okay, >> walk with us. >> At this point, the suspect was taken to the loss prevention office where staff clearly showed her everything on the screen. Yet, she still tried to twist the story. >> Um, so Miss is stating that, you know, obviously, hey, I'm going to buy these. Um, I was just putting them in my purse. Uh, so I go to check out. Um, so it's probably here to dispel any kind of confusion as to why this is shoplifting and, um, if you'd like to press charges, ma'am. >> Yeah. So, um, did y'all get everything out of the >> Yeah, there's like a dozen items that were in the purse. >> So, I mean, you have a cart. So, the cart is what the what's, you know, let's be real. I mean, honestly, you have a cart. That's what the cart is for, not your purse. You don't put the items in your purse. And if you were just doing that, why you you do it so secretly like that? That's not how people shop and get their >> That's not secretly. I'm right there on the island. >> Okay. Um well, yeah, I want to prosecute. So, we'll let the um the judge decide. That's fine. So, the judge may agree with you. The judge may say, "Hey, she was just putting it in her purse." >> Okay. But I'm saying I got I can pay for I was going to pay for the stuff. Like I wasn't going to walk out the store with this stuff. >> Okay. And you can tell the judge that. That's fine. >> But I'm telling you, like I really don't I got my child outside. >> Is your child in the car, Jody? >> Yeah. Like I want to pay for the car. Can I just pay for it? >> Jody, which car is he in here? Is she in? Cuz we had a bigger issue now. Where's your What car? You said you were dropped off here. >> No, I had caught a ride. Is do you have a child outside, ma'am? >> Yeah. Yeah. With my ride. I don't know if they >> Your child's with your ride. >> Yeah. I I leave my child in a car by theirself. >> Okay. >> The management's decision had been made and the police were ready to act. Yet, the woman still refused to accept the truth, [music] lingering as if she could handle the situation on her own. >> Joey, give me your stuff. >> What? >> Give me your stuff. >> Come on. I'm saying >> Jody, come on. >> Wait, can I talk to her? >> You know, you're actually barred from supposed to be here. Come on. >> Okay, but at least then >> Jody. >> Ma'am. Okay, but I'm trying to talk. Can I >> You don't need to talk to her. This is our business. >> Okay. Okay. >> You're barred for this location. Come on. >> Okay. >> Jody, come on. >> Stand up, please. >> Just ring those up and get a receipt. I won't, you know, >> this is there. You You violated the the trespass. So that's on them. They they they take you for that. That's what I mean. >> I'm saying I'm You know what I'm saying? Like what it look like, but I have the money to pay. >> Right. But you weren't supposed to be on the property to begin with. >> I thought they said um I was barred from OK. Well, you stole from them, too. So, you're borrowed from them, too. I would assume >> you got caught in both places. So, how >> come on? >> There's nothing else to talk about. >> I'm just going to try to see how long. >> Come on, sweetheart. >> We'll tell you. >> We'll tell you how long it is. >> We have it on the system. >> We have it on the system. How long your body has? >> We'll just do this out here. That way, ain't nobody else around. Okay. >> So, will I get out tonight? >> Probably. During the walk to the patrol car, officers continuously informed her of what she was about to face. But by then, her worry for her fate had come far too late >> for criminal trespass. Yeah. >> You know how long? >> I mean, here in Athens, it's usually pretty quick. Like 24 hours or less. >> 24 hours. >> I mean, that's a day. >> I don't want to do a day. >> I don't want you to do a day either. >> I ain't going to get no bun when I get there. >> You should. You don't have any pockets, do you? Mm-m. >> Okay. >> You don't have anything on you that you don't want to take to the jail? >> So, what are they charging me with? >> Um, criminal trespass due to the barring and uh shoplifting. Obviously, I don't know how many counts that you have, whether it be a misdemeanor or a felony. I think it's up to like four. You have to shoplift like four or five times before it's a felony. >> It's not that many. >> Okay. So, it just be a misdemeanor shoplifting. >> Will you get a violence today? >> I should be able to. I don't know. The woman was charged with criminal trespassing and retail theft. By refusing to face the truth and trying to justify hiding items in her purse, she revealed a lesson. Excuses cannot erase wrongdoing and denial only ensures harsher consequences. >> Oh my. Can you stand up? I'm going to jail. Jesus Christ. Wait till my Oh goodness. This is really happening to me. On November 30th, 2024, police responded to a report involving a female Macy's employee who had abused her position to carry out suspicious activity. To be more specific, store management explained exactly how it happened. >> She loaded multiple gift cards. >> Okay. >> No cash multiple times. She did even today. >> Okay. >> Um she loaded gift card $250 cash. No cash that went into the register. um she also admitted to that that video in the previous onations. >> Um today and and and then she used one of the gift cards. >> Okay. >> Um obviously the one today she didn't use I have it she had in her possession. She brought upstairs. She got it out of her purse >> and handed it to me. >> Okay. >> That card has a value of 250 on it. >> 250. >> Okay. So, when did you guys notice that she was doing the gift cards? >> Uh, yesterday. >> So, yesterday she loaded a gift card. >> Actually, you know, uh, on the 27th, which was a Wednesday, she loaded two, both for $150 each. She utilized one on the transaction for herself >> and each of them were 250. >> Uh, two were were 150. today was for 250 >> for the 20 on the 27th. He said [clears throat] >> each one was 150. >> 150. >> Mhm. >> And she used one of them. >> Correct. >> Okay. >> At least $550 had been stolen over 3 days. All from gift card theft. At that point, the suspect was confronted and faced the consequences of her actions. >> Hello. Hi. >> Oh, hi. >> How are you doing? >> Good. How are you? >> Good. Do you have your driver's license on you, ma'am? >> Yeah. bipolar. >> What we got so far? >> Um, so so far she they started on the 27th. So she laid it loaded two gift cards with 150 and she used one of them and she kept the other one. And today she loaded a gift card for 250 and she didn't get a chance to use them and they wanted charges. >> They want fresh start charges? >> Yes. >> Okay. She's behind cuffs. >> What? Can you stand up, please? Oh my god. Can you stand up? >> I'm going to jail. Yes, ma'am. Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Oh my god. Can I call my cousin? Just one second. Just Oh my god. >> Can I need you? I'm going to jail right now. 11. >> So then what? Can you sit down for a second? >> I have one black female. Is this me? >> Can you check my record? There's nothing on my record. Oh my goodness. We just have to do our investigation, ma'am. >> Okay. >> Yeah, it's normal prosecuting. You've been committed a crime. So it might be just you might be released on the notice to appear. Would you allow to appear in front of the court for a judge on a predetermined date and time? I know, but I've never >> The woman was clearly surprised by the situation, but it was evident that she knew she'd committed a wrongful [music] act. >> Okay. So, are you able to explain to me why we're here today in the office? >> Yes, because I um I loaded some I loaded two gift cards. Um yeah. >> And what were you going to do with the gift cards? >> Um probably buy stuff here. >> Buy stuff here. >> Okay. And did anybody force you to do this or you did it on your own? >> On my own. >> So, like my um supervisor said that we're probably going to um give you a court date. You're going to get NTA. Um just so you're able to stay with her clothes. >> So, what are you thinking, girl? [laughter] >> Honestly, it was just like it was last minute stuff, the holidays, >> Christmas coming up, you're like trying to shave a few points off the cost of other things. And >> the woman called it a mistake yet allowed it to happen over several consecutive days. She even believed that the matter might not require police involvement. >> He talked to me. He made everything seem full. I mean, I would have told the truth regardless, but I didn't know any of this was happening. just took me for a surprise which is why I kind of panicked a bit. >> At the end of the day, you know, the thing is like employee theft or people stealing, you know, their business, at the end of the day, they lose money and >> people get away with so much stuff. You know, people taking money, taking clothes and running out the store, you know, they get tired of it after a while. And it's like, you might be a nice person with nice intentions, but at the end of the day, it's like they're like, you took and they're going to prosecute. So, so kind of >> So, what would this be like in court? >> Well, paying something back. >> You could you could they could they could instill some kind of restitution against you. Um like whether paying back the the cost of what you what the store lost plus court fees and all this stuff. So, it could cost you more than what you actually end up taking. Okay. >> Or they if it's up to them up to decide it's up to what the victim wants to do, what they're what they want in return. But you know, but like say example, you don't show up to court, then now they're going to issue a warrant for your arrest. Now you're really going to spend time in jail. >> As the conversation continued, the police explained what she would face. Despite this, she remained surprised by the consequences of her own actions. >> There's a possibility you might have a warrant. >> A warrant? >> Mhm. >> How? >> I don't know yet. That's what I'm finding out. So when I hear back from the other officer comes back, I'll find out what those So that's why I ask you if those tickets were sorted because if if they weren't, then there might be there might be an issue. But if it's sorted out, then it will be back to the original plan. >> What's the 10:35? >> Um, it's for um to appear. I think they're on shoplifting, but they're trying to confirm it now. [laughter] >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. >> Just that night traffic >> trafficking. Trafficking >> for me. It's trafficking >> for traffic for trafficking or like trafficking 77 or >> trafficking. >> Traffic offenses. >> Trafficking. That's what they said. >> So, what was the method of uh how they how they catch her? >> Um they have surveillance camera catching her doing that. >> Camera cameras over the registers. >> Mhm. To be clear, the woman had a prior failure to appear charge related to a traffic offense. So, she worried that this incident would add another crime to her record. >> After this, what shows up on my record on a background check? >> Um, you'll likely have arrest records going to show scheme to def fraud and petty theft. >> There's two things that happen. wants the the act of taking them a card, a gift card, and over systematically using it a couple times to defraud a place of the of money, right? And then the other actions when you use the card and took the and then use that money that was not yours >> to buy. So, there's two things. So, you got Okay. >> I'm going to take you down to the station. >> Wait, you still? >> Yes, ma'am. Can you call my person? >> Um, you can have a phone call. Um, when you get >> Yeah. When we get there, we real quick what's going on. >> I already explained it to you. >> Well, I know, but you just said that I would probably be able to go home if So, what's the >> But the problem is is because you use the gift cards and you did it more than one time and so you so it becomes an additional charge. It's not just the petty theft. It's [clears throat] >> it's the fraud. >> I have the gift card. >> Yeah. But you already use one of the cards. So if you But I have one in there that's not used. >> Where's the other gift card at? >> It's in there. >> Yeah, but he said you loaded three cards. >> So you use one of them. So the other two, I give it back. I'm giving back. It's right there. >> The woman still failed to grasp the seriousness of the situation. Or perhaps she simply could not believe it was real. >> No way that I cannot be sitting in jail right now. >> Oh man. >> And getting paper. This should have been thought about before you did the action here, >> which is >> which is true. And you admitted to and I and I give you and I give you credit for at least acknowledging that and then accepting ownership of that, but there's also still consequences for what happened. >> These just don't go these just don't go away. >> I know these things just don't go away on their own. There's a process. Okay. >> Okay. Can you at least write my cousin's number down cuz I know when I if I go there, I'm going to be calling off a pay phone and not my phone. I don't know his number. >> We'll we'll we'll accommodate that when we get to the station cuz we still got to go to the station. She's going to process you and then you're going to get booked. She's going to take you up to county jail. You're going to get booked in there and you'll you'll wait around till your first appearance. >> Jesus Christ. Wait till my Oh, goodness. >> This is really happening to me. >> Sorry if I'm explaining things, but she's not explaining things how things need done. So, >> it's a learning process, too. So, >> do you have anything that can poke me? No. In the end, the woman, Jada Alexis, was charged with petty theft and organized scheme to defraud. Even seemingly small or repeated mistakes can quickly escalate into serious legal consequences. Taking responsibility early and understanding the potential outcomes is crucial to avoid compounding problems. >> I'm tired. I've worked all day and I'll begin. They're going to steal my stuff and I get in trouble for it. >> Were you concealing items in bed? >> Why was I No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No, no, no. I don't No, no, no, no, no, no. >> On June 21st, 2023, police received a call from a shopping center reporting a [music] woman suspected of concealing items. When officers approached, she immediately began speaking to them in a manner that made her appear to be the victim. >> I bought my following stuff that they took. >> Okay, come over here. >> No, I didn't do nothing wrong. I'm not done with anything. I want my belongings. They won't let me pay for my stuff without my belongings. They have my phone and stuff. That's not fair. I didn't do nothing wrong. >> It's in the cart with the what? It's got the bone box and everything with different I don't even know what the name of it is, but it's brand new. And my blanket and my damn um it's a raincoat. My dad's rain coat for his motorcycle. Now that that's all that's not fair. I've not left the store napkin. I'm not I didn't even make it to the register. >> Okay. >> One of you want to come with me to get this stuff for him. >> Wait, stay out here. Watch. She goes in there. >> I'm not giving nobody my name. I didn't do nothing wrong. >> Okay. Well, if you want us to help you obstructing, >> how am I getting obstructing? >> Did we tell you to stop? >> I stopped. Okay. >> I want to speak to your supervisor. No, I'm not going to be done this way, but I I was trying to pay for my stuff. >> Supervisor. >> Yes, there is >> information. No. >> If you do not provide your information, you're getting arrested. >> Have a seat on here. Right here. Right. >> Right there. Have a seat right there where I'm pointing. If you look, sit down. What's your name? >> Derek. Derek Green. I can't sit on that. >> The woman was clearly in a highly unstable state of mind. Even as the officers tried to gather more information, she refused to cooperate and repeatedly demanded special treatment. >> I want a supervisor. >> Okay. What is uh your date of birth? >> I want a supervisor, please. >> Supervisor's tied up. >> I don't care. I want one. You have to give me one. >> Yes, you do. You're treating me LIKE A CRIMINAL, AND THAT'S NOT FAIR. If you just came to talk to us, we won't have to beat you and all this extra stuff. >> Yeah. Yeah. Because you're going to listen to him regardless. >> Wanted to play the name. >> They're going to cancel. >> Look, I got all over me. Okay. I'm trying to buy some tampons. You would be upset, too. I'm I want a supervisor. You You have to give me one. You got body cams? >> Huh? >> Do you have body cams? >> They're right here. They're on. >> Okay. Just making sure. >> They They took my phone and stuff. that they took my belongings and I've been asking out different hair appointment for an hour for my stuff back again. What >> I am This is not even fair. Not even fair. This is not fair. My house just burned around and I'm not going to be treated like this trying to buy stuff for it. I'm tired. I've worked all day and I'll be game. They're going to steal my stuff and I get in trouble for it. Nobody knows where it's at. So, they stole my stuff and I get in trouble for it. >> Nobody said you're in trouble right now. >> I feel humiliated. I feel disrespected and I feel no. >> Okay. I'm sorry that feel that way, but we have a job to do. >> No. And you guys should And you guys don't know. No. No. No. >> At this point, another officer spoke with the store manager. According to their account, her behavior had been highly suspicious, [music] even bizarre. >> Another manager here. >> Yeah. We just saw her like fill up cards and then it saved everything. I mean like I was think she took her phone like oh start selling cards without her knowing she's been around looking for stuff has been disappearing like >> she has been. >> Yeah. So I don't I don't know everything. That's just like from what I've heard this is weird. Like we don't normally call you the way we did. >> She didn't unless she actually did it called you way before too early. >> Okay. So, but I don't unless there's something I don't know or something, but >> I mean, >> yeah, I don't know. >> That's just I don't I just want to let you know you might be. >> Okay. >> I just that's my that's my side of things. >> I want to investigate it first. So, >> yeah. No, 100%. I'm just I'm just >> The woman continued to escalate the situation, showing no awareness that she was a suspect. She kept making a scene outside the store. >> Please tell me how I was stealing. Please, please tell me how I was stealing. >> Yep. Please. >> That's what they're going to find out. >> Well, I know. I'm I'm pissed. I want my belongings. >> You'll get them. >> I'll get them when they're ready to give them to me. >> No. >> When they're ready, they get to steal my stuff and I'm told I have to wait. But yet, I didn't go nowhere near cash register with their stuff. I didn't even push the cart all the way around the store. I left them sitting in the front by the register so I didn't have to push around the store. And then I get in trouble for it. Are you serious? This is what's happening. If Can you go to the restroom with me? Like put toilet paper down there or something so I don't my pants. I have a one to go or something, please. >> Nothing. >> Nothing. >> Phone, dash pass, and chargers. That's about it. >> There's not a charger in there. Oh, no. It's a It's a USB connector. Whatever. >> Did you drive here with somebody? >> No, I got the bus. But they have >> Why were you trying to go out the back door? >> I was not. I was buying a flower. I bought a rose bush. Tomorrow's my mom's birthday. Go look. Tomorrow I didn't EVEN TAKE THE CAR OUTSIDE. I've got a rose bush from there. That woman came out there and told me that I couldn't couldn't be out there. >> Even after receiving her items, she believed her business was done. Yet, she continued insisting on proving her innocence. >> Hey, where you going? >> No, you're not. >> Why? What? What did I do? Please tell me what I got wrong. Please, please tell me what I did wrong this year. >> What? >> I didn't do nothing [snorts] wrong. I didn't push no cart outside. I went out there and bought a bruise bush for my mother. >> I know I'm bleeding all over myself, but I'm This is humiliation and I'm pissed. I'm tired. I'm ready to go. >> Do you have an ID in there? >> I should have a wallet in here. Yeah, I should. There's no wool. >> What does it all look like? >> It's brown. It's about like a square about the size of a damn >> It's about half the size of phone. >> Are you sure you had the >> I'm positive I had it with me. It was with my phone. Where did you put it? >> The phone in the wallet that was laying with the receipt in that right there on the basket. Can >> they get a return over? >> Yeah. See? So, there's no wallet in there. No. Okay. >> I'm going to go look at a picture real quick. >> Although she initially faced a possible trespass after confirming her identity, the officers realized her earlier claims about her identity were completely questionable. >> Let me see a picture. You're looking at me. I have five. >> That's not you. >> Is it not you? >> I had about 80 lbs on me. Where'd your mole go? >> What mole? Oh, >> it was removed by a doctor. >> Oh, you got it removed. >> Turn around and put your hands behind your back. We're done playing games. >> Are you serious? >> No, I did not do nothing. That is me. Look. Look. There's a score there. >> No, there's not. >> Drop your cigarette. >> I'm not I want to speak to I didn't do nothing wrong. >> Okay, I'm going to ask you again and I'm going to force you. I have four girlfriends, too, by the way. I need to go to the hospital. >> Okay. 17. >> You're under arrest for trucking and um >> I need to go to the hospital. >> I need to go to the hospital. >> We'll figure out who you are. What warrant you got? >> I don't have no warrant. >> When first approached, she tried to claim menstrual issues and other problems. Now, as she faced arrest, her alleged medical conditions were repeatedly brought up inappropriately to demand special treatment. >> I need to go to the hospital. I have four. >> Did you hear me? I have four gold ribs. >> They got medical in jail. >> No, I >> All right, let's uh go ahead and uh >> I have four gold ribs. I need to go to the hospital. >> Yeah, >> I need to go to the hospital. >> Hey, AJ, would you mind taking her back to booking? >> Much appreciated. >> You have any? >> No. >> Kyle, do you have gloves on you? Mine are out. >> Uh, no. >> Gloves. >> Yeah, because they're so dirty. >> I didn't say you're dirty. I just don't pat down anybody without gloves. You're hurting. >> No, I'm not. I don't want to be touched by you. I'm not going. No, I need to go to the hospital. >> Are you serious? >> I need to go to the hospital. >> I need to go to the hospital, you guys. I need to go to the hospital. >> You can stay on the ground. That's better. >> I need to go to the hospital. >> Okay. >> I need to go to the hospital. You're hurting me. I need to go to the hospital. I'm pregnant and I need to go to the hospital. >> I'm pregnant and I need to go to the hospital. >> You just told me you're on your period. How are you pregnant? Overconfidence and refusal to cooperate can escalate minor incidents into serious [music] legal trouble. >> What do you mean told you we just literally just paid you? >> Stop lying, lady. And they didn't even pay for the chips. On December 3rd, 2024, officers quickly arrived at a Target store where a clever receipt switching theft had just taken place. Here's what happened next. >> We're going to have you come up and get you. >> We'll talk about that, but we're explaining to you right now. You're both being detained. Okay? You're not free to leave. We're going to have to get your information, figure out what's taken cuz the business told us that. So, >> no, that's bullit. I don't know what you expect me to do. >> That's what they've told us. >> What do you mean told you? We just literally just paid. >> I got you, but not for all the items. >> Officers came face to face with two suspects as they tried to push their card out. One of them boldly claimed she'd already paid and had a receipt. But watch how her confidence fades the moment an employee steps in. >> We went over there. We can do a good return. >> Stop lying, lady. The bars and they didn't pay for the chips. What do >> you mean? We didn't pay for the chips. I have my receipt in here. She paid as well. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, she did. >> Nice try. >> Well, you want to go over there to register? We literally >> I just saw you on camera. >> Yeah. Come on. >> A Target employee pointed out they hadn't paid for several bags of items, leaving her speechless and trying to walk away, but it was already too late. >> Hey, I think you got confused about where you're free to go. Okay, you're not free to leave. Turn around back under arrest. >> From what? >> Shoplifting. >> Oh, [ __ ] leave out the door. All right. Okay. All right. Both women were escorted to the store security room. Shortly after, during questioning and a search, officers uncovered multiple pieces of evidence revealing just how professional these two women really were. >> Is this your receipt? got like three things in the >> What's this receipt? >> What's this receipt? [ __ ] one. >> Which one? >> He said this one, right? >> Yeah, but this one was good. We didn't see anything with that one. >> Don't forget about this one. >> That's not mine. >> No, it's not yours. The vlog's at Target. >> Okay. So, what does that have to do with >> Slow today, aren't we? No, that's literally not mine. >> Yeah, I know. It's Target as long as there's in her bag. >> That wasn't in my >> That was her bag. >> It was in her bag. >> Officers searched their bags and found several suspicious receipts along with a pouch full of unpaid cosmetics. The suspect quickly denied owning it and blamed her friend instead. >> Why'd you guys come in today? Just needed stuff. Personal use. You selling it? >> Feed the kids. >> Feed the kids. top >> cuz I have no cash. I need to feed my kids. >> What are you going to do? Sell makeup to the kids or >> just to have a buyer. >> Who you selling it to? >> Who's your buyer? >> She says she has a buyer. Just whoever wants it. [snorts] >> I'd rather just do that than sit there and actually if I was wrong, but I don't want to be sleeping around. All right. >> Yeah, I do. >> And like I don't have a job. So yeah, I'm in the process of getting my identification and everything as well. >> She tried to justify the theft as a desperate act to support her kids, but her past crimes exposed the truth she couldn't hide. >> All right, so both of you guys are just going to be under arrest, felony shoplifting. Um, you have a felony warrant that we're confirming right now. So um, just kind of want to give you guys that update >> cuz I can't lose anything that I have right now. If I do, I'm going to lose everything and I can't lose anything. And I'm not trying to be back home. I'm not trying to be better. And I'm like literally taking care of someone right now. And that's how like I get a little bit of my money instead of sitting there sleeping around or anything like that. >> Officers determined they were repeat shoplifterss reselling stolen cosmetics. One had an active felony warrant. As she was led to the car, tears and excuses followed, but the law left no room for sympathy. In the end, both suspects were charged with felony shoplifting, possession of a controlled substance, and conspiracy to commit a felony. A bitter ending for those who tried to defend themselves with humanitarian reasons, yet chose the wrong path to survive. Next comes the absurd case where someone ends up in jail over JUST $1. >> [screaming] >> RIGHT NOW. >> ON SEPTEMBER 10TH, 2025, KOWANI, ILLINOIS, police were dispatched to a gas station after reports of a bizarre dispute. A customer furious over just a $1 pizza cooking fee. Watch how this minor issue spiraled completely out of control. >> He charged me for a pizza. Now he telling me I owe him a dollar. I SAID, "WHAT THE DOCTOR FOR? I ALREADY PAID FOR THE PIECE. GO TO RECEIPT RIGHT HERE. I got some other my kids and ate that already. THAT WAS 20 minutes ago. I don't even want the pizza. I don't trust THE PEOPLE. >> REMIND YOU. >> CAN I GET MY $12?" THEY LEFT. >> SHE DEALT WITH GOLD. SHE DEALT with >> From a trivial matter, the group of three began loudly demanding their $12 back. Refusing to trust the freshlymade pizza. They insisted they'd been deceived, blamed the staff, and flatly refused to leave. >> Here's the deal. As you engaged in a transaction that made something that expires or goes bad, so they made this pizza for you. >> I don't I don't trust it. You >> I know, but you can't return something that is made. >> You eat. I want >> I don't want to eat it. I mean, >> I don't want to eat it. >> You already made this. >> Well, they should have stayed here when the police came. Said the police came, I need my money. >> I DON'T I DON'T WANT THE PIZZA. I DON'T EVEN TRUST A LIE. IT'S A LIE. >> IT'S THE PRINCIPLE. I WANT MY $12 BACK. I don't want the pizza. >> Okay. >> It's the principle of the situation. That's why I'm not getting. >> Ain't nobody >> You can have your pizza. >> I don't want that pizza. >> Then you need to leave. >> Yeah. You need TO GIVE ME MY >> I'M NOT GIVING YOU ANYTHING. You need to leave or you'll be under arrest for trespassing. >> Ain't nobody trespassing. >> HOW YOU ARE NOW BEING TOLD to leave. >> You're now being trespassed. >> Police tried to explain that this was only a civil dispute, but the group refused to listen. When asked to leave [music] the store, they resisted. The heated argument quickly erupted into chaos. You're under arrest. >> You're under arrest. >> You're under arrest. >> GET BACK RIGHT NOW. >> GET BACK. >> TURN AROUND. WE NEED ASSISTANCE HERE RIGHT NOW. JAIL, BRO. >> Back it up right now. [screaming] >> STOP RIGHT NOW. >> STOP MOVING. >> RIGHT NOW. >> YOU ARE UNDER ARREST NOW, TOO. RIGHT NOW. >> Stop touching me. Let me go. >> GET MY STUFF. >> GET MY STUFF. >> STAY BACK right now. >> GET MY STUFF. >> GET MY STUFF. >> GET MY STUFF. GET MY STUFF, >> BRO. STAND UP, PLEASE. >> OKAY, YOU SAID YOU'RE BACK. >> I'M GETTING VERY IRRITATED, BRO. >> STAND UP. >> YOU'RE GETTING MY CAR. >> TURN AROUND. >> YOU HAVE MY PHONE. >> PASSENGER side of my car. >> Oh my god, bro. If she would obey, she'd be walking out THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN 15 MINUTES. NOW YOU'RE GOING TO JAIL. >> Instead [snorts] of cooperating, the suspect's relatives rushed in to interfere, screaming and struggling, making the situation even more tense. Police were forced to subdue the entire group amid curses and violent resistance. >> Let me go. >> Nope. >> I see the whole thing. >> LET ME GO. YOU'RE NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE TOUCHING ME. You're not EVEN THE ONE. RECORD THIS. RECORD THIS. >> You put your hands on me. >> He did. He did. >> And I didn't even do anything. >> You're not even supposed to be touching me. >> You ain't not even supposed to be touching me. You a hoe. >> YOU'RE A HOE. YOU'RE NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE TOUCHING. Where you look, SON? I'M GETTING THEM. I HAVEN'T BEEN TO ANYTHING. YOU'RE NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO TOUCH ME. That's true. >> You ain't even supposed to TOUCH ME. YOU A WHOLE WOMAN. >> You push me. >> Stand up. Get up. >> Y'all touching on me. I need to take these handcuffs out. >> Walk to that car. No. Walk to that car. >> Call my lawyer. >> Okay, you can CALL YOUR LAWYER. >> CALL MY LAWYER. MAKE SURE THEY KNOW I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF >> Come on. >> A INJURY LAWSUIT. >> AND HE PUSHED ME. SO I DIDN'T PUT MY HANDS UP. You >> ain't a 104. WHAT'S YOUR NAME? >> WHAT'S YOUR NAME? >> Sit down now. Have a seat. Sit down, PLEASE. >> SIT DOWN IN THE CAR. >> SIT DOWN IN THE CAR. >> SIT DOWN IN the car. Get in the car. Just step back the [ __ ] out of your [ __ ] Don't touch me. >> The suspect screamed, "Call a lawyer." And accused police of using force, but their resistance only made things worse. One woman even damaged store property, prompting staff to demand charges of criminal damage, leaving officers with no choice but to arrest her as well. Was anything damaged? >> Um, she just knocked all the [ __ ] over. I'm going pick it up. >> Do you want her charge of criminal damage? >> Yes. >> All right. >> Yep. >> 95. >> I'm not under arrest. >> You're going to be under arrested. >> Don't touch me. >> Don't touch. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> I'm not at the back. >> Yes, you are. That's all I got right now. >> Could you let me go outside, son? Let me go. >> Nope. Sit in the car. Oh, you don't have a cage or have a cage? I don't. >> Do you want to use a different car? >> Yeah, >> he doesn't have a cage. Can we put him in one of your cars? Put her in your car. >> I'm not here. >> I don't know. >> In the end, all three were escorted to the station in a state [music] of chaos. They now face a series of serious charges.
