Walmart shoplifter thought she could steal a full cart undetected. Beginning with a woman whose escape plan from the police failed miserably. >> Right now, her hands. Try start by not stealing. And when I tell you to stop, stop. >> On the 2nd of November 2022, police were dispatched to Target after receiving a report of a theft. The suspect was believed to be a woman who had pushed a cart full of merchandise out of the store without paying and her actions when she saw the police indirectly admitted it. Ma'am, you're under arrest. Police stop. Police stop. Get out of the car. POLICE STOP. YOU'RE UNDER ARREST. We're running through coals right now. She quickly ran into a coal store where the many aisles obstructed the officer's view, but she was wrong to think she could escape as officers were able to catch her while she was trying to hide. >> PLEASE STOP. MOMMY has better hands. >> Get down on the ground right now. >> Put your hand behind your back. Put your hand behind your back. >> Put your other Quit digging. The only daughter has all my daughter has. >> No, not yet. >> And all she has to spread your feet. Spread your feet. >> Spread. You're under arrest for shoplifting, resisting arrest and obstruction. >> All my daughter has you guys don't understand. I'm all she has. >> I go to a six country center. I'm all she has. Okay. Just you everything being audio being recorded. Okay. You right to remain silent. Anything you say can will be used against you in the court of law. You decide anytime you exercise right and not answering my questions. Do you understand this? You want to ask answer your questions? >> Nope. Okay. >> Can I say something? >> No. Negative. >> You say whatever you want. >> I'm not I'm not a bad person. >> Okay. >> Okay. Let's go. >> Let's go. >> Afterward, officers escorted the woman to the patrol car. After her attempts to plead with them failed, she decided to remain silent. Hey, did you grab the money? >> Yeah, I have her money. There's She's got some more. >> You don't have a backpacker. >> I just grabbed a car this morning for one. Just give me a sec. Uh, >> is there anything here? >> Got to get a photo of something. >> I was like, sorry. I just didn't know. Let me get Oh, man. >> Yeah. Look straight at me. Know you're trespassing target, right? And permanently trespassing as well, right? My daughter Ed with my daughter on Thanksgiving and what she did to have really quick. >> So what what did you what did you all take? >> Just some Legos. >> Some Legos. What were you going to do with those Legos? >> I was just going to give them to my father and my family is going to treat me in 6 days. >> You were going to give them to your family? >> And I was going to resell you. I was going to resell >> cuz I needed the money. I go to treatment in literally 6 days. I go to 6 month treatment with my 2-year-old daughter. I work so hard to get it. >> Yeah. >> She tried to bring her family into the story behind her stolen merchandise to gain sympathy. And she later continued pleading without any shame. >> I know lots. I know lots of I know lots of everything. >> I I've heard that numerous times. I I will work with you today. >> What's your middle name? >> I will forward the information to our drug guys, but today you're going to jail. >> Okay. >> I have to do I'll speak to them today. >> I can't do that today. >> What do I have to do? >> I have to forward it to the right people. >> My daughter, she's too she has pulmonary stenosis. I' I've done everything. I got housing. I've gotten everything to get to do good. I really like >> I said I could forward the information to the other people, but I can't. >> What if they do it today? >> I can't I can't do anything today or >> they're picking me up today. >> You're you're going to jail today. >> I can't do anything about that. >> What do I have to do? >> Try start by not stealing. And when I tell you to stop, >> stop. >> I'm just scared cuz my daughter, my daughter, man, I'm all she has. She's got nobody, man. >> I worked so hard to get your day, man. I >> I What I'll do is I'll help you the best I can, but I can't do anything today. Today, you go to jail. >> Additionally, she admitted to swallowing a large number of pills to get rid of them. Officers tried to give her one chance to be honest. Would she take it? >> Okay, I'm going to give you one opportunity to become 100% honest with me about the blue pills. Okay. >> Serious? >> No. Cuz this is what's going to happen. You lying to me. We're going to take you to the hospital. We'll get it checked. If there if you're 100% lying to me, everything will get checked out. And if you're found lying to me, it'll be a second charge of obstruction. >> I know. >> Okay. >> I know. >> You're not allowed to drive. I don't know where you left. You threw your keys at. >> I know. >> Okay. So, there's a good chance after I convince my lieutenant that I'll take you to the hospital and then I'll take you to jail still. >> Very, very good chance. >> I know. >> Okay. >> I'm sorry. >> There. >> I was scared. >> There there you're past the point of sorry. I've already said that. >> I was scared. >> Okay. So, I am going to ask you this very very straightforward, very clear. When was the last time you used blues? >> I just did it with my mouth. >> Just did it with your mouth just now. No, I'm you. But I >> when >> literally that's the reason why I was able to go into the store when I knew you were coming to get me in the in the car. >> How many? Cuz if you tell me like some absurd roof, >> cuz I've had people tell, "Oh, I swallowed 25 of them." Like you would be dead. >> No, I swallowed 13. >> Oh, 13. Oh, so you'd still be dead. >> She was charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, and obstruction. Her repeated attempts to gain sympathy could not change the consequences of her own actions. Once she chose to run and resist, simply pleading afterward was no longer enough to undo the situation. Next, a simple shoplifting case suddenly turned into a medical emergency. On the 22nd of April 2024, police received a call from Walmart after receiving reports of a woman shoplifting inside the store. She was also believed to have been previously banned from Walmart. And at this point, both police and loss prevention had been monitoring her every move. Where's she at? >> Right here. She's at register 11. So, she concealed some clothes into that bag. Now, she's only scanning like the grocery stuff and like socks >> on three. >> Yeah, she's not attempting to pay for the >> Yes, sir. We're uh we're already inside. >> Yes, sir. Uh for a assault. Um we have eyes on her right now. She's at the register >> and she is trespassed as well >> from Valley but it's for all Walmarts. >> Thank you. Um, if it's up to you guys if you want to do it in the store, but if she doesn't pass the last point of sale, I can't charge her for those. >> Well, well, for us, if she conceals them, >> um, that's enough for us to >> Oh, yeah. If that works, just go and do that, though. >> Okay. She's And you said it's in the back. >> Yeah, in the back. Yeah. What is it? Uh, it's like a pair of socks. >> Socks and like shirts. >> As soon as the woman tried to leave, the loss prevention employee stopped her. But it was only when she saw the officer arrive that she made a surprising move. >> Get away from me. >> Hey, we got her inside. >> The phone on the inside. Her attempt to run said it all, but the surprise did not end there when she suddenly became unresponsive. >> Roll over. You were just fighting me for your phone, so stop. Roll over. >> Just start over. >> Yeah. Come on. Yeah. >> What's your name? Isabelle. >> Isabelle Isabelle. There you go. Hey Hey, wake up. >> I don't think so. I fell at the same time she fell, so I couldn't see that part. Can't feel anything on the other side. >> Could everything that happened have been an act she staged? Because as soon as the medical team arrived, she began to regain consciousness. >> She's had one dose of darkness. >> She had these in her pockets. We don't know if she swallowed anything. >> Another dose. You want to look at evidence back here? >> Hey Isabelle, did you swallow anything? >> Normally when we go to our restaurant, she'll do this, but she doesn't know. Just >> the throwing up part. >> Yeah. When our kid might have made that happen. >> She just had fought like 2 seconds before that though. Like when I walked in, these two officers were like she was pulling. As soon as they put the handcuffs on, she just laid there. >> So I don't know if it was if she swallowed anything. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Now she's brea Yeah, she's already >> But then she started like kicking. No, >> stop. There's no need to kick. >> What started as a simple shoplifting case ended up requiring multiple emergency resources with her condition believed to have been caused by a possible drug overdose. >> Arrested at Walmart. CD found three pills on her. I don't know how many she ingested, but she's acting like she's not responding at all to us. >> P did on scene. >> She did one dose. Um, she reacted. She kind of squinted her nose when I put it >> in her nose, but >> she only been uh vomiting. She vomited a couple times. She'd been usually just kicking like that. >> Yeah. When she ran from us, >> she's 100%. She's about 140 for the heart rate. So, she could have swallowed some before. >> No, just kidding. >> Just kidding. Oh boy. I don't think we're here. Do >> you need my right? [music] >> Sit up. >> I'm going to cover her to the bed. So we >> you guys can >> sit up so I can cuff you to the bed. >> In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting and resisting or obstructing an officer while also facing outstanding warrants and possible drugrelated charges. A theft arrest can change instantly when a suspect's medical condition becomes critical. Once someone stops responding in custody, getting medical help must take priority over assumptions about whether they are faking it. Next, this woman had an even bigger secret hidden behind her shoplifting incident. >> Can I please pay for it? Please, please can I pay for it? Please get just be I promise you. >> Please don't make this harder. >> On the 27th of December, 2024, police were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a woman shoplifting. But they had no idea she was hiding an even bigger secret. First, the loss prevention team closely monitored her every move through the surveillance cameras. >> She's concealing more stuff. She has some in her bag. She has some She's put some on. Um, and she's putting some down pants. >> Okay. So, you want us to wait till she comes out or you want us to go grab her now? >> Um, >> she's already done the act. >> Yeah. Um, I just want to like this stuff. I don't know what she's It doesn't matter. You can go get her. I can't go get her. >> No, I know. I mean, whatever you want. >> Yeah. Um, I just don't want to miss her at the exit. >> So, we go get her. >> Under Walmart's current policy, officers were allowed to approach her immediately. When they did, she remained completely calm, as if she had no idea her actions had already been discovered. What are you doing over here? >> What are you doing over here? >> I'm texting. >> Just texting. >> All right, you done all that stuff for me? >> Yeah. >> What's your name? >> Cheyenne. >> You got an ID on you? >> Uh, it's in my car. >> Stand up for her. >> Yeah, stand up for me. >> What' I do? >> You're under arrest for Southwest. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Hold on. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Please, please, please stop. >> No. Wait. Why are you doing this? >> Place your hand back. >> Can I pay for it? >> We already We already saw you. Okay. Can I pay for it, though? I haven't walked out the store. Please, can I pay for it? Please don't pay your hand. >> Please, can I pay for your hands behind your back? >> Okay. Okay. Okay. [ __ ] Okay. Look. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Okay. Let me call my mom. Please. >> We're not calling your mom right now. You're going to go to down to the ground. >> Okay. Okay. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Okay. Why are y'all doing this? I'm not even trying to >> Because you're resisting. >> I'm not resisting. >> You are. >> I'm Please. >> Okay. >> I made a bad decision. I knew it was going to happen. I knew I should have put it. I knew I should have paid for it. I have the money. Please let me. >> So, she clearly knew what she was doing was wrong. Yet, she chose to do it anyway. But [snorts] things became even more suspicious when she started showing signs of nervousness as the officers searched her. >> No, I don't have anything else. I don't tell you, please. >> It's okay. >> What else you got on me? >> I don't got nothing else on me, dude. >> We're going to find out better. >> How am I going to Look, listen y'all. I'm not trying to be no harder than this is. >> Hold on. Can you What are you doing? >> I'm just looking at what's in your pocket. >> Can I see that, please? Just a second. Please, please, please >> relax, bro. >> Look, hold on. Let me show you. No, I'm trying to get it out for you. >> What are you trying to get out? >> Can I Can I show you? >> What is it? >> It's close. Please. >> Why are you pulling me? Stop. I'm not trying to listen to me. You're You're not doing anything. I will get the clothes. >> That's what we're trying to tell you. >> I'm I'm going to listen. I'm going to abide. Please. >> Okay. Well, we're not doing a very good job right now. >> Can I get a number? >> You'll be able to do that. I can't get that at the jail. They're not going to let me get that at the jail. >> They will always let you get a number out of my phone. >> Yes. I'll get this. >> Y'all are positive. >> I'm 100%. >> My one time, please. I will be quiet. >> Smoke inside. >> We'll we'll talk about it when we get outside. You can't smoke inside. >> Y'all can take out banan. Please. All right. Trying. >> Are you you going to act like an adult so we can >> I'm not I'm not trying to do make y'all's job any harder than it is. >> Okay. All right. >> Suspecting that she was hiding something, the officers asked her to remove the layers of clothing underneath. But what stood out even more was her attitude. >> Take these cuffs off. You're going to take that jacket off and you're going >> take the stolen sweater off. Okay. >> I got you. >> Can I take this off? >> Take one off. Got to take my necklace off and put it in the bag. It's going to like hurt my neck. >> We'll take all that off at >> They'll take all of that off. >> We don't want Looks like it's already off. >> Yeah, we don't want to lose nothing. >> Is it broke? And it's broke. >> Here, I'll put it in there. >> What is that? >> That was some nose. Y'all know it. >> You shut the up, boy. What the [ __ ] Show them what you got going on. >> Mind your mom business. >> Huh? >> Can I put my jacket back on? >> What's wrong with you? Go ahead. Okay. >> Is there any drugs in here? >> There are not. >> Any guns? Any? >> I got my prescriptions in here. >> Okay. They're prescribed to you. >> They are prescribed to me. Well, one of them. >> This says Eden Joy Solomon on it. >> Let me see it. >> That's my Okay, that's my boyfriend's phone. >> That's [snorts] She denied having any drugs on her, but the more the officers searched, the more suspicious they became that she was hiding them. >> That is >> There's nothing in there. So, >> those are just bags, dude. >> No, >> I promise you they just bags. If they were drugs, I promise you I'd have already done it. I'm going to a detox, bro. I would have already done it. They're just bags. I promise you. Please don't hit the snow. It really is. I know. >> That don't look like no bag to me. >> What? >> I swear to God that bag some powder up in there. >> But come on. It's a residue. Please don't. >> What do you do? What do you What drug do you do? >> Fentanyl me. >> No, I sold fentanyl. And >> you sold fentanyl. >> I sold not like recently. Okay. I sold fentanyl and then Okay. I really had um a methamphetamine addiction, but I went to rehab, completed it, fine colors. You know what I'm saying? Haven't had problems with meth. I haven't had >> problems with none of that [ __ ] >> Let's get outside and we'll figure all that out. Don't question me about that outside. I'm >> in the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia. Trying to hide drug paraphernalia can turn a simple theft investigation into a much more serious legal problem. Once officers find evidence that raises suspicion, denying it will not make it disappear. It can give them more reason to investigate further. Next, this man only made things worse with one lie. Lying to me, you're going to get arrested for something stupid because you want to lie about it. All right, I'm giving you one chance. Asked you when I spelled it the first time, are there any L's in your name? And you said no. It's all on camera. >> On the 22nd of January 2026, police received a call from Walmart reporting a theft that had occurred. The suspect was believed to be a man who had taken merchandise without paying. When officers approached him, he denied everything despite raising serious suspicion. >> I believe it. >> All right. Well, there's stuff by the back of the vehicle over there. So, I know you're lying about whatever you're saying right now. What is that stuff over there that you left by the back of the vehicle? I see it all on camera, dude. So, lie to me. You're going to get arrested right now. >> All right. Going to steal some [ __ ] You left something in the store. You took that off and put it by the back of that vehicle. Right. >> That's where we're at right now. I already know the store. You don't even have to give me any information. That's where we're at. Don't put your hands in your pockets, though. Just keep your hands right there. >> Is that his car? >> Is that your vehicle over there? The gray SUV. >> Huh? >> Is that your car over there? The gray Whose car is that? >> I don't know. >> Okay. So, why are you putting all the stuff that you took by the back passenger wheel? >> I see it on camera, dude. >> It is what it is. You're already You're caught in that aspect. All right. Why is it over there? If that's not your car, why are you hiding it over there? >> Can you just go see what it is over there? All right. Do you have ID on you? >> You don't have ID on you? You sure about that? You don't have a wallet on you? So, if I ask for your information, you're going to give me your actual real information. >> If you don't, you're going to get arrested. You understand me? You're going to give me your actual information. Correct? I'm giving you one warning here, one chance. If you lie to me, you're going to get arrested. It's a simple fact that take your hands out of your pocket. It's cold down here, but it's cold for everybody, not just for you. >> You hear that? One try. Just give me your correct information. >> What's your first name? >> Eugene. >> Eugene. >> Spell it for me. I want it out loud. >> E U G E N E. >> E U G E U G E N E. >> And what do you have a middle initial? >> No. >> No. What's your last name? >> Huh? >> What's your last name? >> Aila. >> Spell it. A B I O >> A V I >> O >> O. That's it. Just A B I O. No L's or anything in there. >> After hearing the name the man provided, the officers immediately noticed something was wrong with it. They suspected that he had just made up the name to conceal his true identity. >> I know you're lying about something. >> I'm lying. I'm lying. I give it to you. >> I'm tell I'm giving you this one chance. If you're lying to me, you're going to get arrested for something stupid because you want to lie about it. All right. I'm giving you one chance. This is a shoplifting for $25. So if you're not lying about your information, all I'm going to do is do a report. If you're lying about your information, you're going to get arrested. >> You understand that? >> Yeah, I'm not lying. >> Okay. Do you know your social? >> No, sir. >> All right. You don't have a wallet argument. I have an ID on you. >> Okay. You need one. Red car. Listen, just don't listen. Listen, there's no surgery right now. All right. You're going to be detained right now until we just figure this whole thing out. Okay. Listen, you're admitted to shopping. You wear shopping. You got cab shop. All right. That's the situation right now. Do you have a wallet on you? Just till we get >> No. Yes or no? >> We're going to search you anyway. So, if you have it, you might as well just tell us. The officers proceeded to search the man and under their pressure he eventually admitted that he had drugrelated items on him. I need him pocket right here right here. >> What is it? What you say was a needle? Now, do you have the um >> You said there's a needle in that pocket. Is it capped? >> Yeah. Does this open up? >> I I got to go. Hold on. Yeah. I'm just going to try and do it from the outside. >> Yeah. Make sure it's cap in. >> I don't know where it is. I'll do >> right there. Get out of here. Go this way. >> Eugene, just so you know, we all have body cameras on, okay? They record audio and video one. All right, just you're going to stand right over there for now. Just lean up against the V. Okay. >> The officers then read him his Miranda rights. And when given the choice, he chose to remain silent. >> If you want to stop talking with us at any point, you can stop. You want to have a lawyer presence or questioning, you can have that. All right. This point, we're not going to answer any more questions about anything. Try to figure out if that's really you. Check if you got any warrants. If you have any warrants, we'll deal with them. If you don't, figure out how much the total is on that stuff and we'll go from there, right? How do you learn how you get? >> Like I said, we weren't we weren't concerned though. Obviously, you can't be shot with, but that's not our concern right now. At the end of the day, they could come in and sign charges at a later date for that. My concern is you telling me who you are. If you're lying to me, you're going to get arrested. If you're not lying to me, >> I don't lie to you. >> That's what I'm saying. If you're not lying to me and it turns out that you are who you say you are and they find that information and you're not wanted for anything, you're going to go home today. All right. You got a bag? >> Uh, yeah. >> Returning to the issue of the man's identity, he still had nothing to prove the information he had provided was genuine. So, the officers decided to take a different approach to verify who he really was. >> But, we're going to bring you back and we're going to fingerprint you and then once I've confirmed that you're lying, you're going to get charged with it. So, that's just the way it's going to go. Now, >> you're trying to you're trying to bother me like >> bother you? Yeah. You shoplifted. You're the reason I'm here. I wouldn't be here if you didn't decide to steal from the store. >> It's not even $100. >> It doesn't matter what it is. You still shoplifted. That was your fault. That was your mistake, not mine. >> And then you decide to lie to us. So that's your fault. >> I lied to you. >> That's your fault again. >> That's why I lied to you for >> That's what I'm asking you. Why are you lying? >> I don't lie to you. >> They can't. >> We're very good at our job. Trust me. If they can't find it, that means you're lying. >> Okay. The officer then gave him another chance to provide his real identity. But his answer [music] changed, making it easy for the officer to recognize that he had been lying. >> You want to try to get with information, dude? I give you information. Oh, Eugene. >> Okay. What's your last name? >> Eugene. >> What's your last name? >> Ao. >> Ao. >> Yes. >> How do you spell it? >> A V I L O. >> You didn't say there was an L last time. I asked you. >> A V I L O. And I asked you when I spelled it the first time, are there any L's in your name? And you said no. It's all on camera. So don't >> don't act like I didn't ask you. >> You were heard right then. >> Okay, that's cuz you were lying. Thank you. How many L's are there in your name? >> One L. >> One L. >> Try his last name. Alpha Victor India Lima. You're going to be placed under arrest. Okay. for the shoplifting, the possible hindering, which is the lying about your name, and for the drug paraphernalia, the uh residue in the little jar that you have. Okay, drug paraphernalia is >> Finally, Eugene was charged with shoplifting, possession of drug paraphernalia, and hindering apprehension for providing false information. [music] Lying about his identity only turned a relatively minor shoplifting case into a much more serious situation. Once his story changed, the officers had even more reason to verify who he really was. Next, this man was not a thief, but his behavior still had a serious impact on the people around him. >> Behind your back. >> Behind your back. >> Come on. Don't push me. >> You are under arrest. >> He just kept going back or like going and getting like closed and just coming back. basically trying to just >> On the 14th of May 2026, officers received a call from a mall reporting an intoxicated man who had spat employees and even tried to fight customers inside. When officers approached, he did not hesitate to display his bizarre behavior in front of them. >> Is he with anybody? Is he with anybody? >> No, I think by himself >> is that this guy? >> Hey, you need to get police department. Hey, >> what's up, bud? >> Let's dance, bud. >> You want to dance? >> Come on. >> I'll dance with you outside. Let's go. >> I don't know what y'all doing. >> Hey, police department. You're being told to leave. You need to leave. >> I don't need to leave. I need to buy some shoes and then buy some clothes. >> You're no longer welcome here. Hey, >> respectful. >> If you don't leave, you're going to be arrested. Do you understand that? >> Do you understand that? >> You're going to be arrested if you don't leave. >> Hey, I'm going to be arrested, but I don't shut the up. But it's all good, right? Cuz it's part of right >> pretty much. So, >> what are you doing here? >> Are you refusing to leave? >> It's like, let's go. Let's go. >> I'm ready. >> Okay. >> I'm ready. >> Okay. Let's go. >> So, WHAT IS WE DOING? WE'RE WE'RE STILL TALKING. >> We're talking, but you >> What the is we doing? >> Are you leaving? Yes or no? >> Stop. I'm shopping, bro. You see me? I'm shopping. Two cops were here. I was shopping. I'm trying to buy some shoes. >> He had no intention of cooperating. And clearly he had no intention of shopping either. If he did, his behavior certainly did not suggest that he was interested in looking at any items. >> It's like wonder. >> Hey, you're no longer welcome here. >> Hey. >> Hey. >> Come on. I need some shoes. Let's go. >> Let's go. I I need to buy some shoes. I'm buying some shoes. At this point, the officers had run out of patience and made their decision. But that was also when he escalated the situation. >> Great. You don't need You are under arrest at this point. Yes, you are. >> You don't need to touch me. You are under arrest. >> Stop touching me. >> Behind your back. >> Behind your back. >> Come on. Stop touching me. >> You are under arrest. >> Stop touching me. >> Good arm. I don't have that arm. >> Give me the arm. Look good. Put your camera on, dog. >> It's on, bro. >> Put your camera on. >> It's on. >> All right. Yeah, it's on. Let's go. >> Come on. Let's go. >> Come on. Get him. Let's go. >> I think Sean's here. So, wait. popping, dog. >> Give me your hands. Give your hands. >> I know. Chill out. >> Hands. >> You're going to get tased. Give your hands. >> I got this one. >> Got it. What's up? >> I got this one. >> Okay. Roll over. >> We're all trying to buy some shoes. You're under arrest. >> He appeared to be mentally unstable, but he clearly understood what was happening. The call I got, so Auntie used said that he was really rude and or sorry and he said he was really rude. Um the call I got was from my concept called my dad actually and said that he was wouldn't leave the girls alone. >> Okay. >> And then they had a girl that was in the fitting room and she wouldn't come out until he was gone. >> Okay. >> And then we he just threw the shirt back down. Told the girl like she's like I'll cash you out in concept. Okay. He's like, "I'll cash you out, but you need to go." You know, they're listening. They're trying to get you out of here. He's like, "I don't want your shirt." Boom. Throws it. And he like turns around at me. He's like, "I'll beat you. Whatever, dude. If you want to try it, go ahead." And then he walks into JD and then they kind of try helping him, you know, just to kind of calm him till we got here. And then he started fre looking out on us again. And then that's when >> Okay, I'll pop in a concept real quick. And >> he had like just like a regular customers that come in. Um I asked him I was like oh like he wanted anything he came to the the dispenser or like not the dispenser but the little date aisle. >> Oh okay. >> He asked to get one. So I asked him for his ID and then I told him I was like oh we're having a buy one get one 50% off on our shirts too. So he's like oh okay. Like he got excited. So he grabbed like a lot of shirts and just came to the register. And then uh as I was going over there he came up to me. He was like uh they're just getting super close and just being weird. you know, but kind of harassing in a way. >> And then so I kind of got uncomfortable and I noticed he was blind. So >> uh and then uh so what's uh I checked his ID and he was I don't know I believe he was uh like 707 20 or 2005. >> Okay. >> Um so I know he was not like of age but I kind of just holded him because I wanted him. Mr. thought he was kind of being like really weird and just like kind of aggressive with his words and then uh he got out and then he had paid for his total and I have like the statements or the totals too. He did three transactions and he just kept going back or like going and getting like clothes and just coming back basically trying to just talk to me and like I kind of like felt uncomfortable and that's when my manager called me and I was like >> in the end the man was charged with criminal trespass in the first degree and resisting arrest. You can claim to be the victim all you want, but when multiple people are left feeling unsafe because of your behavior, that excuse quickly falls apart. Next, this woman was caught stealing money from the employees who had just served her. >> Did they? >> What's that? >> Are you right here? >> Why you stick the your hand inside the tip jar >> against her tip jar? I certainly didn't take her money. On the 16th of June 2024, officers [snorts] responded to a local coffee shop after receiving a report that a woman had allegedly taken around $20 from the tip jar. To understand exactly what happened, let's hear the employees account of the incident. >> I can help you. >> Ah, so here's what's happened. The one lady, she stole our money, like our tips. >> Mhm. And we have video and picture how she got her hand and our money. I don't know also. >> It was today. >> Yeah, it was like maybe 20 minutes ago. I don't know why I can be like I don't know if you can. Do you know how much it was that she took? >> So it for sure it was around the 20 bucks. Like of course it's not too much but still was $10, $5. >> Yeah, of course. Like around the other um video, the next one. And I think today your date. >> What's that? >> Are you watching her? >> The next one. >> Uh, this next one's different way like the other camera. First one. >> So she went in there twice. Praise. And >> do you want to press charges or do you want her to go to jail for it? What is that you want? >> I will call my boss and I don't know like uh I have her name probably if it's her card. I don't know this her name and I don't know. >> It's up to you. I mean if you want to call him to find out what he wants to do. We can either trespass her from the property Huh? No, I'm joking. Maybe jail. >> Since the stolen money was allegedly tip money belonging to the employee, she had the authority to decide whether to press charges rather than needing her manager's approval. Let's see what decision she made. >> But really, y'all are the victim. >> Yes. >> So, do you want to press charges? Do you want her trespass? What is it you want me to do? >> It's up to you. >> She'll be here so soon. I don't know. Maybe she will explain you more. Like, >> but you're you're the victim. Yeah, >> it's not up to your boss. >> Yeah, but it's I mean I don't want to >> if it was like if if it was like merchandise or anything like that. Yes. Cuz the boss is your boss would be the victim. >> But if it was a tip jar, the tip jar is for you. >> So you're you're the victim. >> Oh my god. >> I can go look for her. I can tell never to come back here again. Or I can arrest her for that. >> For how long she can be arrested? >> That's not up to me. That's up to a judge. And I have nothing. >> But for how for a few hours for sure, right now? >> Uh it's a case. It'll be a case that she's going to have to go to jail and bond out let go and then has to go to court and deal with the judge for the crime. >> Brother would like to she had some record because record her like >> card her. you know, record record her like maybe she did something somewhere else like place around her area. Maybe she installed somewhere else. >> So So you >> like I I don't know. I really don't know. I don't want to was like really bad job for you. I don't know what's best. >> The employee hesitated about pressing charges. So, the officer left his contact information in case she decided to follow up or the woman returned. >> That's going to be the case number, my name, um, >> your contact name, >> my badge number. >> Thank you so much. >> If she comes back and you see her calls right away, okay, >> I'm going to go look for her >> because the the realtor who who's here all the time, we said he's she's probably local because I mean, we probably So, but she may come and steal something. You don't know. >> Yeah, you never know. >> No, thank you. Well, now it's not here, right? >> Yeah. Hold on. >> And you think about $20 she took. >> Yeah, it was for sure $10. It was $5. And you were the ones >> the ones >> cuz then it was like five. Zion gave you five the >> $10 or 20 bucks. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> All right. >> She said $2 >> and her daughter said, "How much? How much is around $2?" $10 around $20. >> So it's like $17. 1105 and two ones. >> I don't know how many ones, but there for sure was 10 five and it was around 25. No, I mean her daughter, she asked me if she stole $2 only. No, it was $20 and >> this money which >> uh they went and turn on and went after probably >> their thank you. >> Less than 15 minutes later, officers located the suspect. Let's see whether the woman understood exactly why the officers had found her. >> Let's go this way. I'm the shade so I can talk to you. Okay. You can stay over here this side. How you doing? >> I'm officer with Key West Police Department. Okay. Before I speak to you, I'm going to give you your rights. >> You should talk to me. >> Yes. I don't know what you're talking about. >> Okay. So, I got called to a coffee place at y'all work. >> Yeah. >> And do you want to talk to me about what took place there? >> Yeah. We stopped in. We ordered coffee, paid for it. Then I went back to the counter and I bought a a gift card, which I have the receipt for. >> Okay. >> We were sitting there drinking our coffee and then that the girl with the dark hair came over and started speaking in whatever her native language is and like she never really said anything. From the woman's appearance to her attitude, it was hard to believe she could have been involved in theft. But as officers began dropping a few hints, she immediately started to figure out what they were talking about. >> Something about money, right? Money taken from somewhere. >> I I guess she's talking about her tip thing on the countertop. >> Correct. >> I didn't touch her tip thing. She was there the whole time. >> Okay. You understand there's videos there, right? >> Yeah. >> So, do you want to think about this whole thing? Cuz everything was filmed. You didn't touch any You didn't touch any of the tip jar. >> No. Why would I? She's standing right there >> and her her coworker was right there. >> Okay. Are you being honest right now? >> Yes, sir. I am. >> So, the cameras are line when they saw you going into the tip jar twice. >> I didn't take her tip anything from her tip jar. I have my receipt from the purchase of the card. And this is my money. And it's not her money. This is my money. Okay. You have your ID with you? >> Yes. >> Okay. Well, like I said, this video of you taking the money. You went into the tip jar and went twice and grabbed the tip jar. From the money from the tip jar. >> The money. >> Okay. >> Her confusion may have been nothing more than an act. Because she had previously claimed she never touched the tip jar. Yet, her story had now started to change. >> So, why you stick your hand inside the tip jar? Why do you put my hand in the tip jar? And if I bumped against her tip, I certainly didn't take her money. >> What do you call that? >> I can't even see it. >> Look again. Taking the cash out. Money coming out. Okay. It's like I'm telling you there's cameras and you're a very dishonest person cuz I'm giving you the chance to tell me what really happened. >> I told you what happened. >> Okay. So, I'm going to need you to turn around. You're going to go to jail for theft. >> Jail? >> Yes. >> You back up. >> Please back up. >> That's my daughter. >> Give that to your daughter if you want the wallet. >> What do you call that? >> Look again. taking the cash out, money coming out. Okay, look, I'm telling you, there's cameras and you're a very dishonest person because I'm giving you the chance to tell me what really happened. >> I told you what happened. >> Okay, so I'm going to need you to turn around. You're going to go to jail for theft. >> Jail? >> Yes. >> Please back up. Please back up. >> That's my daughter. Give >> it to your daughter if you want the wallet. Yes. Ma'am, we're not playing games. Ma'am, >> please let go of the purse. >> I can't. I'm trying to close it. >> Okay. >> Let's go this way. >> Can I go back and give her $20? >> She showed no shame after lying and being handcuffed in front of her daughter, blatantly begging for another chance. As the officer explained what would happen next, she began to worry about what was happening. >> She's going out to Mon Maro County Detention Center on Stock Island. >> So, if you look, there's Okay, listen. There's only one jail here. She's going to have to spend the night. She'll go to first appearance tomorrow and she'll talk to the judge. the judge will decide whether or not she can uh bond out and then you can uh figure out some way to to uh get that taken care of. Okay. >> My suggestion right now is that you go back to the hotel room. I don't know what transpired. I don't know what happened. >> I didn't do anything. >> But whatever you guys did, >> I told my mom I didn't do anything. >> I mean, apparently you did, man, because >> I didn't. We We don't just get called for no reason. >> You were aware. Okay. >> I wasn't. >> So, listen. We don't get called for no reason. >> I wasn't aware. >> If they're alleging that you stole something, why would you like take off running from the place? >> That's not a normal reaction. Okay. >> Why is that? >> Normal reaction. You tell me, "Hey, I'm not stealing. Call the cops if you want. You wait for the cops." You don't take off running when you're confronted about stealing cash. >> Running though. People walking around. >> Okay. You walked away, man. We're not going to argue about this with you. You walked away. Yeah, because I was scared and it was insulting. >> That's That doesn't >> Elaine A. Earlywine was charged with misdemeanor theft. Sometimes people do not lose everything because of the original mistake, but because pride makes them keep denying it when they are given a chance to make it right. >> Being detained coming out of the vehicle. On the 1st of February 2024, police received information that a Renault that had previously been reported stolen had returned to the Whiteall area. A police helicopter was also deployed to assist in tracking the vehicle. This is what happened as officers attempted to approach the stolen car. >> Chopper ground. We're a minute out. We do not have a target in sight. Do not have a target in sight. >> I get chopper. Chopper, we're going to start rolling right now. Let's start moving right now. I'm going to get the front pulling up. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go. >> All right, they're backing up, but they're getting a fence. They're going to be boxing, STILL HANDS UP. HANDS UP. YOU'RE GOING TO GET SHOT. YOU'RE GOING TO GET SHOT NOW. DON'T MOVE. HANDS UP. Do not move. We're going TO GET SHOT. WE'RE GOING TO GET SHOT. Police officers quickly surrounded the vehicle, leaving the suspects with no chance to escape. In fact, there was more than one person inside the car, and the passengers also attempted to flee, creating a scene of complete chaos. >> We got a passenger trying to jump over the fence. >> GET ON THE GROUND. PUT YOUR HANDS ON YOUR BACK. UNDER ARREST. Third coming out of the VEHICLE BACK >> whining up. >> WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? RIGHT HERE. >> WE HAVE EVERYBODY ON YOU. >> UH, that's no problem. Anytime, guys. Great job. >> I can't fit in there. Don't yell at me. No, I'm saying sorry. I can't fit in there. When you first pulled up though, I couldn't fit in there. Then you pulled up. That gives me a little room. I can try. This is our guy. >> This is Gates. >> You got him. >> Hey, that's that's Gates. >> Gates was identified as the suspect responsible for stealing the vehicle. Meanwhile, one of the passengers tried to deny any involvement in the incident despite having just failed in his attempt to flee from the police. >> Give me a minute. Let me get everything figured out. >> You guys just did this. >> You're in a stolen car. Okay, you guys are trying to run. >> You're going to get ripped out of the car. >> You heard me, right? >> I don't care right now. Kick your foot in here. I will talk to you in about 5 seconds. Let me get my stuff together and then I'll come and talk to you. >> Stop rushing. I'm just >> Gates. How much drugs did you take? Unbelievable. >> Unbelievable. >> Stop that. Okay. >> What? >> No, but he's acting like he's OD and I can't tell if he's faking or not. >> I have one rear tag key right side damage. >> Hey, 110. Should I stay with him in case he gets worse? >> I'm okay. Shortly afterward, the suspects were taken to the police station for separate interviews. The passenger was questioned first, and he remained completely calm as he continued to insist on his innocence. >> All right. What can you tell me about the car? >> Absolutely nothing. No one knew a lie. I wish I knew what sto. >> Do you use or have you used alcohol? >> Yes. >> Okay. What do you do? cigarettes at all. >> When's the last time that you used any hardcore drugs like [clears throat] so? >> It's been within the last 24 hours. >> What did you take? >> Everything. >> Have you ever been treated for alcohol or abuse? >> Yes. 11 when I was in prison between 2015 16 17. >> Who do you know in the car? >> Tyler not very well. I met him at work. I don't know the other guy though. >> Okay. So he how how did today transpire? Like how did you end up in the vehicle? >> He just called me on Facebook and was like, "Hey, how you been?" I'm like, "I'm at home watching Netflix." That's why I had the remote in my pocket. >> Mhm. So he was like, "Uh, you you trying to uh" He asked me what I was doing today. I said, "Nothing much. Just hanging out in the house." He said, "Uh, you want to step out the house?" I said, "Sure, where we going?" He said, "Uh, just to a friend have I think some marijuana. I didn't want to lie to you." And that's where we went. >> It soon became clear that the case also involved illegal drug possession. The driver's condition only raised more suspicion as his behavior suggested he might have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the arrest. Um, who are those guys with you? >> Buddies of mine. >> Buddies of yours. Where do you live right now? >> I'm homeless. >> Homeless? >> Yes. >> Um, I saw on your ID that you had a Brier Brier. >> Yeah, I used to live there. >> Okay. Um, how long ago was that? >> In last month. >> Uh, so we found some uh powder in uh in some aluminum foil in your wallet. What is that? I actually was thinking like cuz he never had a vehicle. I'm thinking in my head, it's a nice vehicle for someone like me. You know what I mean? >> You had a friend that had a uh silver 2010 Kiaforte. I know that her mom's name is Gina. uh she got uh you and your friend were up in Westerville and she got arrested on a warrant out of a traffic stop thing. >> In addition, the officers confronted them about the driver's previous attempts to flee from the police. It was clear that this was not the first time he had done so. The passenger also gave a statement that indirectly shed light on the driver's state of mind at that time. >> Did any when we pulled up and started blocking the car, what were you telling him? >> Stop. Just chill. Hold on. Stop. Chill. Like he's like, "No, fuck." I'm like at that point I'm think that's why I was trying to I was just praying to God that you guys don't me when I got out the car >> but I had no other choice. It's either he run into some and we all die or get seriously hurt. >> Yeah. >> Or it's just I just tried my luck. >> And and Tyler was just telling you no. >> Yeah. It was just No. You really you just linked up with Tyler so that you guys can for a little bit. Smoke some >> little bit. Mostly >> smoke some weed. And then >> that's it. Head back home. >> So, what do you want to talk? Do you want to talk to me about anything? >> What do you want to talk about? We know that's all your clothes stuffed in the back. We know that you were supposed to meet up with the staff today to have a move out. We know that you've been on a little bit of a bender and stealing a lot of cars and running from the police a lot. Why do you do it? You've done it three times now in a week. You're still hanging out with your crib friends. Was that only when you were in jail? >> Well, I don't gang bang. Um, >> you hang out with duffel bag and >> I don't know. >> He's listed as an alias of yours in prison. >> I don't do that. >> You're just kind of cripping to stay alive in jail kind of thing. The whole blue devil thing is not that heavy. I mean cripping was a I mean it started off as just you know love for my brothers in my neighborhood. I didn't have my family wasn't my mom got married and uh so I didn't really feel love at home and I just fell in love in the neighborhood from for my for my homies as I mean that's just have you seen any similar anything similar to this where somebody was and something like this happened and >> all the time man >> make you do some dumb >> seen any success stories >> quite a few >> years later >> takes time >> the suspect was charged charged with failure to comply with the order of a police officer, receiving stolen property, and possession of a schedule one or two controlled substance. [music] This is what happened when police arrived at the scene. >> Hey. >> Hey. >> Are you the parent? >> Yes. >> Okay. Gotcha. This is your daughter? >> Yes. And she didn't want to try to steal her. >> I got you. Do you got your identification on you? >> No. Let me get the key out of the car. >> Let me go to the car. >> Hold on. Hold up for a second. I just stepped out here. >> Can I get the money out the car? >> Can we just wait one minute? Okay, we got to [music] get everything figured out first before we go there. >> Gonna let her pay. I told her I wanted Yeah, that's fine. I still got to facilitate just some of this. Um >> me, why I'm being facilitated? >> Just cuz you're the parent of the minor. Okay. So, obviously, we got to make sure that's all taken care of cuz I don't want to stuff with minors. It's always a headache. You know what I mean? >> Okay. >> What's your daughter's name? >> I'm going to go speak with them just real quick. Can you tell my I'll tell them that. Can you just wait right here? Guys, just don't go nowhere. >> Immediately afterward, the officer approached the loss prevention staff to obtain their account of what had happened. >> So, they u she was scanning and then she was handing her stuff and they just didn't scan $87 worth of merchandise. >> Just so I know what we're doing. What are we doing? >> Um we prosecute. >> Okay. >> Okay. But she wasn't part of it. >> Oh, yeah. She was part of it. >> She was involved in the >> She was the one that scanned. >> I got you. It turned out the mother who had been trying to clear her daughter's name was involved in the incident as well. She seemed to know it, too, as she immediately became hesitant when the officer asked her to come back inside the store. >> I'm sorry. Darion's an adult. Um, I was mistaken. Once you're finished with that, they're probably going to want to borrow y'all from the property. So, can you come back in with me? >> They're going to um >> borrow it. >> We're going to be able to pay for it. >> I don't know. You'll have to take that up with them. Why are they borrowing me? >> It's their property. They can borrow. >> What? >> Yes. >> She didn't steal nothing. Like >> 26 drop. No need. >> Oh my god. >> You doing? I didn't take nothing. So what you doing here with us? >> Like this. I'm not going away. I swear to God. You don't have >> here for me. Thank you. >> Like please don't rock this. Please. We got a newborn baby at home with my little daughter. Please. Please let me pay. Please let her pay. I will pay for it. Please don't do anything. >> She immediately begged to pay for the merchandise. Something she hadn't done when only her daughter was in trouble. It was clear she was afraid of something which the loss prevention staff revealed moments later. >> I was laying it up. I had to scan things. She only >> hold on. Let me take a look. >> I'm trying to scan the number. I was like, >> she scanned them once. She scanned her twice instead of three times. >> Skip scanning, which is the term is used when people are scanning everything. >> The top one, but she doesn't scan the bottom one. She doesn't. >> It's a common It's a common thing that happens. >> I was trying to take nothing from y'all. >> I got you. But you missed like >> a couple like like $90 worth of like we were working together. We were switching back and forth. Whether you were trying to or not, if you walked out of here with $87 more than you paid for it, >> if we had stopped it, you would have kept going. So, at some point, there has to be a lesson learned. So, obviously, >> pretty much worked up here. She's going either way. >> In addition, officers confirmed the mother had two outstanding warrants. So, they made separate decisions for the mother and daughter. >> So, you're all good to go. >> Yeah, you're good. >> I got a deal. >> Yeah, you're going either. I mean, you got two warrants anyway. So, you're going either way. >> I want to. >> One out of this county, one out of Okorp. >> You miss anything in court from Oak County? >> No. >> We can't tell you everything. All we can tell you is the warrant where it's at. >> Yeah. So, anything you got to leave with her. >> You might want to bring a phone cuz you can get numbers that way. But unless you >> Unless you have them all memorized. >> What's up? >> Writing down. >> Yeah, that I mean they'll let you be in jail, too. We'll get you out there and see if we get the handcuff off every quick we can. The mother was arrested on two outstanding warrants, while the daughter was charged with misdemeanor retail theft for skip scanning merchandise. A moment of dishonesty can lead to lasting consequences. And trying to fix it after getting caught rarely changes the outcome. Taking responsibility from the beginning is always better than hoping no one notices. >> Right now, I didn't do nothing. >> Yeah. Get out. >> Has nothing to do with this. >> Get out. >> Don't Don't rush me up. I'm the only one. >> I'm the only one getting locked down. >> I don't know anything about anything else. >> On the 3rd of June 2024, police stopped a man and a woman as they were trying to push a TV out of the store that was believed to have not been paid for. However, when they were approached, they already had excuses prepared for themselves. >> No, I need a receipt. See, I got an online receipt. That's not receipt. That's not a line receipt. That's online receipt. >> That's not online receipt. That's what gave me. That's supposed to have a serial number on there. Where's the serial number? >> That's what they That's what my phone receive. >> That's not That's not an online receipt. So, we do two things. We going to pay for it or we going to take this or you guys going to come with us. That's not an online receipt. My receipts don't look like that. >> That's That's what she said to me. >> That's not an online receipt. I'm telling you. So unless you want to get in trouble, that's not an online receipt. >> I don't care what they sent you, but that's not receipt. >> It's not I'm not >> You walked out with it. You have an ID. >> Do you have an ID? >> I don't have no ID, >> bro. >> How did Did you guys drive here? >> No, I just got My aunt dropped me off. She said she going to pick me up the TV. She sent me this receipt online. >> Well, first off, you got an online TV. You pick it up from over there. >> I pick it up from right there. >> No, you you know, pick it up and back there was a line. >> While the man tried to deny any wrongdoing, the woman ended up admitting it, but not with her words. Instead, her sudden actions revealed far more than any confession could. Female body suit with a pink sweater family towards the apartment on the other side of the clear. We're over on this side. Oh, right here. Right here. Right here. Right here. >> Like an athlete, she ran as fast as she could, but she never escaped the police. Even more surprisingly, she began playing innocent with a new trick. >> Get down right now. >> I didn't do nothing. >> Yeah. Get out. >> Has nothing to do with this. >> Get down. >> Don't Don't rush me up. I'll get down. I will get down. >> Put your hand behind your back. Do it now. >> I will get down. My phone. My phone, man. I didn't Well, I don't got no numbers in my phone. NO. THEM THEM FOLKS. I DIDN'T HAVE NOTHING to do with that. I just walked in the store with them and they told me to hold the car. >> Stand up. >> I didn't you doing all that running? >> Because I have kids. >> Well, that's your fault. I didn't know they had none of that going on. >> I'm a runner real quick. >> Please, please. >> Hey, you want to put in my car? >> Yeah, that's fine. >> I'm mad, miss. >> Well, now you definitely going to jail. >> NO, PLEASE. I DIDN'T KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THAT. >> You want to check her real quick? >> No, please. Let me get my >> Please. I didn't >> chill out. Bro, I didn't know nothing about this. >> You said something cuz you were running. >> NO, I DIDN'T. BRO, I KNEW when you said I was going to get locked up. >> You said that I pushed it out. He homie told me to hold the car. I got scared. Please understand. >> She even tried to change her appearance by taking off some of her clothes and shifted the blame onto the man. None of it worked as the store's loss prevention team clearly established her involvement in the theft. When I was bringing that other TV back in, I saw him coming with another TV cuz he was with them and I said, "Let me see your receipt." He showed me the same picture the other guy tried to see. >> Oh, they're trying to see. We got >> All right. Her dumb ass jumped over the the wood line behind the Oliver. I'm like, "You ain't got nowhere to go." I'm like, "You hear the sirens? You might run for me, but the radio you ain't going to run the radio." >> There is some real cuz one >> How much was that TV? >> Well, it's two of them, so they 428 a piece. >> Oh, perfect. So they basically working together. >> So but he took off though. >> Yeah, he took off. He he went he pretty much went on foot and went down that way. >> Which one? >> The one he was on foot. >> Hold on. You said which one with the red shorts? Where he go? >> Downstairs. I don't know where he went. >> The one the black the one him that I stopped. >> Yeah. >> He went out and walked down this way. >> Okay. Sorry. I'll take her. I mean I can only charge her for one TV though cuz she only came out with one. >> That's fine. >> Yeah. >> How much is the the single TV? Oh, was it 428? >> Back with the female suspect, she showed no concern for her crime or the consequences of running away. What she cared about instead was her own selfishness over being the only one arrested. >> I'm the only one to handc right now. >> Huh? >> Sa Please don't me. >> Just calm down. I know you're upset. I understand that. But just give a second. Okay. Sit back. Why you so Why is you Why are you so wet? Did you fall in the water? >> Just sit back. >> I don't know. >> Just sit back. >> We have an ambulance coming. So sit back. >> We have an ambulance coming. So just sit back and watch. >> I'm the only one. >> I'm the only one getting lot. >> I don't know anything about anything else. Okay. >> But I do know that you need to sit back. >> Okay. I'm just trying to catch some air. >> I got plenty of air coming. You look right there. See that vent? Those vents are coming. >> Put your feet in. We'll close the door. The windows stay on your phone. I can hear you. >> During the ride to the police station, officers also discovered that this was not the woman's first offense. >> Yeah. Two misdemeanors. You said you've been arrested in the past. >> Yes. >> For what? >> Um, >> same thing. Obstruction. >> Obstruction. Like just running. >> Yeah. When you resist arrest pretty much. >> Yeah. I um then I got um domestic violence. >> I know. It's been a similar situation like this when I was in like a um she a 16 year old like 14 year old. She said she was around my age when I was 19. >> Mhm. and she went to Walmart and she start uh stealing in there and I didn't know anything about it and I went out and I walked out with her just just by me walking out with her. That's going to be a headc. >> Are you on probation? >> Because she underage. >> Are you on probation? >> No. >> I just I don't understand why you ran. I mean, you you make >> I went in there to give me some drugs. >> Okay, but you make you make it worse by running. >> What was even more telling was that the woman showed no real recognition of her wrongdoing. Even after she had calmed down, she continued to arrogantly avoid taking responsibility for her earlier attempt to flee. >> You guys think about it as a when a criminal a criminal is the one that always when the white dude called me, he put me on the ground smash my face in the ground. All type of >> Well, if you run I said I'll get on the ground, bro. Don't you don't got to rough me up cuz I really sp this, bro. For real. Dead ass. You not going to me out this get on the ground myself. Just cuz I ran. You done caught me now. So I'm tired. >> No, you can kill me like that. Officers out here killing people, bro. That's why I get scared. >> Nobody was trying to hear no black person. >> It's like I was I was sitting thereing my case. Like I I don't know nothing. I don't know why this. >> When you said this was out here killing me, right? What are the reasons? What are the reasons? Cuz people aren't following simple commands. People are running. People are pulling weapons when they're not supposed to. And when you're running, you got to think about it. You just ran from us, right? I don't know if you got a gun or a knife, >> right? >> You get what I'm saying? So that's what you got to look at. I'm going to bring you down to the ground as soon as I can so that I can safely put cuffs on you and make the scene safe for me and you. >> She was charged with theft by shoplifting and obstruction. Running away and refusing to take responsibility often creates even bigger legal problems than the original offense. Accepting accountability early can make a difficult situation far easier to resolve than trying to escape it. >> Oh, my baby is crying. He never double cam. >> Taser. Taser. Taser. What did I tell you? On September 5th, 2025, police were dispatched to Dick's sporting goods after receiving a report that a theft had occurred. As officers approached, the suspects moved out into the parking lot and firmly insisted that the accusation was false. >> Can you uh try to say I was stealing, but I wasn't stealing. >> Okay. I saw both you guys running out of the uh the store >> cuz I was filming with my son. I was playing. He said something to me. He said you was stealing outside. He sent the police on the way. I said, "What I steal?" >> Okay. You got IDs on you and then you got receipts for the stuff you purchased. >> What you mean? I don't got no ID on you. >> You don't have an ID on you? >> Okay. You don't have anything on you? Nothing? Driver's license? Nothing like that? No. >> Okay. Ma'am, you got an ID on you? >> Yeah. What do you want? >> Well, one, you're not wearing a seat belt, so I need your ID. >> Yeah. So, >> all right. We can make this one of two ways here. Okay. So you guys can cooperate with me. >> I'll cooperate. I'm sorry. >> You don't have You don't have any any identification on you. >> If observed closely, the driver even started the vehicle and pulled away from their parking spot in an attempt to leave. And this action only made the police grow even more suspicious. So >> you got nothing on you. You think your first name? >> He's out there. He's back here making faces. >> No, I don't see. I see a puppy back there earlier. I see a dog back there jumping around earlier. >> No, you see my damn thing. >> Oh, okay. >> You know this guy, >> huh? >> You know this guy walking up? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Let me see. >> All right. You got You got receipts for me? >> No, I don't have no receipt. >> You got nothing. There's no merchandise in this car. >> You going to let me go? I'll be honest. >> Come be honest with me. >> I I got merchandise. Can you please let me go? I got my baby with me. I do got some merchandise. I bought some stuff in there though. >> Okay. >> I had bought an outfit in there and I had took a offet in the bag. >> Okay. Can I see those places? Where they at? >> He's doing something. >> I got to make sure. >> We ain't got no The black and white one was mine. >> Okay. So, this is You did not take this bag, right? You took the bag inside. He >> Yeah, he trying to say I took the bag, but I didn't take the bag. You mind if you I'm good if I look in here? >> Yeah. Go in. I'm going to put it right on my >> But I told you it's all fit in there. One is mine. The woman admitted that there was merchandise in her vehicle, but her attitude showed no trace of remorse. On the other hand, store employees firmly confirmed the wrongdoing with clear evidence. >> How's it going? >> Did they take anything or >> Yeah. Yeah. Okay. >> Yeah. That So that black that big black bag she has, that is full of stuff. >> It's full of stuff. >> Yeah. She did not walk in with that bag. >> That's what we when we verified that she didn't have the bag, that's when we >> Do you guys know what all she took or anything like with that or >> we we didn't see her actually conceal. We just saw her with the bag full of merchandise. We checked camera to see if she walked in with it. It's She didn't walk in with it. So, she know we know she got it here. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> So, that guy in that red hat, he's walking towards them, but >> Okay. >> He was in here carrying around a bunch of shoes. We were watching him too. The guy. >> Did he take anything or >> We don't think he took him. He gave us back everything back. >> There's two of them, right? >> Two black females. >> There there's two black females. Yeah. >> There's one like a jacket and then that one. So, a black bag. did it. Is it a Nike or anything like that? >> It's Kalia. It's It won't be branded or anything. It's like quilted almost like has that pattern and it has stuff inside. You saw them put stuff inside? >> Yes, we saw them put stuff inside it. We just don't know exactly what it was. I I know it's most likely 19. >> And that bag was stolen as well. >> The bag was stolen as well. Yeah. >> I'll be right back. >> All that stolen bag. Everything inside. Yep. >> That bag is not dude. She did not come into the store with the bag. >> So, the woman knew she had been caught red-handed, yet she showed no shame over it at all. At that point, each stolen item was already being confirmed by the police. >> No, I'll I'll run for you if you want. It's going to be dude. These are all like 80 bucks. So, we're probably close to selling the amount anyway. This is 80 as well. Bring tag on the bag. There was something right here. This is still back in here. >> Yeah, it's said that was for sure. >> She didn't come in with it. I'll just throw it in here. But >> do they want it back right now? >> I'll ask. I I was hoping they give us a receipt or something, but I don't think they're able to do that or we have the merchandise. So, >> whatever the bag is. Yeah. Back at the suspects, the man believed to be connected to them deliberately escalated the tension as events unfolded, forcing officers to issue repeated warnings. >> Stay back there. >> Stay back there. >> You got to me. >> No, you won't. You'll get off the scene. Go back. Go back there or go to jail then. Either way is fine with me. >> You're just getting too close, man. It's all right. It's I understand. You're just getting too close to what we're doing here. >> That's my brother. >> I know, but I need him to stay back. >> Step over there so they can finish doing back. >> I know. I know. It's fine. We're not saying you did anything. I just need you to stay back. >> You stay off the scene. >> All I need you stay >> I know. I understand. I I wouldn't let you anybody walk up here. >> I wouldn't let anybody walk up here. >> I'm here, man. Y'all tripping. >> In contrast to the man's frustration, the woman appeared unfazed, acting as if nothing was serious and even believing she could simply walk away. >> You don't have any physical. Do you have any like you got a credit? >> Bro, I just told you I'm warning for y'all and I'm talking about the truth. >> I'm I believe you. It just we're not getting anything back. You got you got a credit card or anything? >> I just got to confirm it's you. >> You going to let me go? >> It depends. It depends on what the warrant is. >> Hey, we got PC. Let's just do it. >> Okay. >> What you say? >> Come on out for me. >> Get in my car. You're >> good. You got to come on out anyway. Come on out. Who? Who? The sergeant >> right there. Right. So, >> put the cigarette for me. Turn around for me. I ain't even lie about my crazy my name >> and my birthday >> and told you the truth to get handcuffed is crazy. >> You got anything on your man? >> What you talking about? We'll be right back. Okay. >> Oh, my baby is crying. double and I just damn it and my birthday. You told him to hold >> the >> I appreciate you being cooperative with me. >> When she was placed in handcuffs, she tried to use her child as a plea for sympathy, but it did not work. And based on her behavior, officers suspected this was far from the first time she had done this. So, the stuff your stuff you took is over $400. That's a felony. Okay. >> I don't know who it is over here. >> So, you've done this before, right? >> Yeah. I'm being honest with you, dog. I can get a citation. >> I understand it and I I appreciate you being honest with me. You understand the severity of this, but I got a couple more things. You saw me turn my lights on. I saw your run out. You didn't stop >> because I was trying to park and my baby and I and I was trying to figure I was trying to figure out to call somebody for my baby cuz I knew I had these wounds. >> I wasn't going to run. If I was going to run, I would have just sped off. I wasn't running. >> Okay. So, when when are the ones from? You know, >> Glen Corbin is that is Glen Corbin >> in Fairview Heights. >> In Fairview Heights? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. These two out here in Illinois. >> You got any other tattoos? >> Where? >> So, I'm trying to confirm. This is you. >> Yeah, they on my arm. >> Okay. Nothing else on your one. >> Yeah, there's one right here. It just said my baby name. >> Okay. Immediately after the female driver was taken into custody, the woman in the passenger seat was quickly approached and faced a similar fate. And she clearly did not take it well either. >> You hear me? >> Step by the car for >> What am I stepping off? >> Please get out of the car. >> I I don't car. >> Okay. Get out of the car. >> Man, you hear what we're saying to you? >> I'm sad. Go ahead and sue us. >> I am just snatching you out the car like that. >> Yeah. Shooting out the car twice. Get out of the car. You're telling me no. >> Your hand. >> I'm not arguing. Let go of this. >> I'm not arguing with you. Telling you get out of the car. >> Pick my [ __ ] up. >> Whoa. Hey. >> You got anything on you? >> Pick my up. >> This is mine. This I I have nothing in my bag. I did. You see me go in there and grab anything? Touch anything? No, you do not. I have nothing. >> Exactly. I'm stoing the watch. Oh, me. Watch. I I ain't got to say nothing. Watch. >> Well, you blowing up too, bud. Come around here, please. Turn around. >> Just make it easier on yourself. Please. >> No, cuz y'all doing too much. >> We are not doing anything. >> Oh my god. Y'all got straight doing too much. They deployed. >> At this point, the man who witnessed everything became extremely agitated and the situation spiraled into chaos as he completely refused to cooperate. >> Oh, y'all do anything. You >> coming up to you, bud? >> I ain't coming up on [ __ ] >> Turn around. Do it. Do it. TASER. TASER. TASER. WHAT DID I TELL YOU? WHAT DID I TELL YOU? YOU TALKED YOUR WAY INTO THAT, didn't you? Okay, there we go. >> Talked your way into that, bud. Come out here and mild on to us. We're going to find out who you are >> real quick. Real quick. >> Yeah, go ahead. We're going to find out real quick. What does that mean? >> What does that mean? Huh? I don't think he expected that one. >> Hell yeah. I've had enough of it. >> Been mouthing off to us. >> You came up trying to pick a fight with us, dude. Why? >> [ __ ] >> Why? >> That ain't doing [ __ ] I ain't doing [ __ ] >> I ain't doing [ __ ] but knock me down. I mean, you ain't do it. >> No, I did. >> I pulled, didn't I? >> You pulled a drink or some [ __ ] >> right? >> Yeah. All right, let's get back off. You had enough. >> I had enough mouth off for the day. >> I'm rolling this way. wrong. >> In the end, the woman was charged with felony retail theft, while the man was charged with obstructing an investigation. Arrogance and refusal to cooperate only made the consequences worse, proving that attempting to intimidate police or deny clear evidence never led to a better outcome.
