I'm not listening to you right now. >> Okay. All right. >> Please don't touch. >> You're going to jail. >> Please do not touch. >> You're going to jail. >> Please do not touch. Why are you testing me? >> Stop. Stop resisting. >> I'm not resisting. >> Some suspects think acting nervous will make them look innocent. But how will others react when they try to flee in a vehicle only to be caught by police? Well, >> why' you take off? >> Because she excuse me shot. >> So, you take off and leave your kid. >> Just a few stakes. Do >> you can you not afford it or do you guys have money? You have cash to pay for it? >> You'll see it all in today's video. When shoplifterss think their theft went without a hitch. Starting with the real life female version of Going in Style. These two ladies that we apprehended today, they initially came here three times for shoplift and this number here is above felonies. >> On the 28th of March 2026, police were dispatched to Macy's after receiving a report about two older women, Maya Grinberg and Marina Coralazina, who had spent nearly 2 hours there and stolen more than $2,100 worth of merchandise. At that point, an employee also gave a statement about what happened. >> All right, man. What happened? Go back as far back as you can. Get as detailed as you can. >> Yeah. So, these two ladies that we apprehended today, they initially came here three times in a row and each time is multiple probably like two uh two digits. >> They came they came here all like they were coming and going today. today. No, today we captain them when they came in. They took like two to three hours to like do a whole thing and then that's when they exited. >> Uh but previously they did came once, put whatever they had to put on the car, came back for the second time. >> Okay. >> And then so on for the other two. >> Okay. So today >> and today they came in cuz we noticed which car they got into or which car is theirs. So I spotted them from the parking lot. Uh they came in, went straight into the shoes department, selected two pair of shoes, and then the other one selected one. The main one just started walking away, wrapped it up with her shirt, and then kind of went by the aisle by the bathroom before we go in and she couldn't see the two shoes. And then the other one just did the same thing, but she just had a new hand and just didn't really care. Afterwards, they went back onto the men's floor, first floor. Uh they started selecting hub rolls Tommy Bahamas kind of merchandise went out to the third floor did the same thing started selecting went into the fitt room and they both came out with just one item after they did the fitt room on the third floor they came out looking around they selected like one item went down to the second floor selected like dresses shirts um intimate stuff went into the fitter room uh when they came out of the fitter They came out with one item each. Again, >> the loss prevention employee knew the suspect's actions in great detail, clearly showing that the women's actions had been planned in advance, even down to how they concealed the merchandise. >> Uh, the third time it was when the they came out of the fitter room, went to select tops, pants, went into the fitt room again as well. Actually, only the one with the glasses right now. She came out with one item. >> Mhm. And after that they finished went downstairs. >> So they were they concealed stuff on every every floor. >> Every floor. >> Every floor and went to a fitting room on every floor. >> Yep. >> All right. That concludes the statement at 1331. >> The officer then approached the two female suspects who were calmer than expected. But it seemed they also did not expect the officer to show up. >> Hi there. Obviously you know why we're here. I'm going to talk to you guys one at a time. Just ask. We was told that we would not have a police time >> that police would not be involved. >> Well, then you got to lie to you cuz the police are here. So, I guess you can step out. Um, >> she doesn't speak any English. >> Huh? >> She doesn't speak English. >> You don't speak any English at all? >> Russian? Then I'll get a Russian translator on the phone. So, you can still wait out there. I'll call the uh translator line. >> Why they lie to us? >> What do they lie to you about? >> Said the police would not be involved. >> You still in too? Yeah. >> If so, then I'll just switch them. I'll talk to her first. Can you go out there and and and sit on that chair? You can tell her sit on the chair, please. I I When it comes to police involvement, it's not up to us. If they don't want the police involved, then they don't have to. But they call this, so now we're involved. Okay. Because you are detained and there's a a crime allegation, right? I have to read you >> your constitutional rights. >> I know. >> Oh, okay. I mean, it's obvious cuz there's cameras and and you're you're in a room already before I know, but so obviously Shoplift, >> a lot of property. Lot a lot of property. Um, do you can you not afford it or do you guys have money? You have cash to pay for it? >> Okay. That you just want the items, >> you know, maybe to sell to somebody to get like 20, $30. I'm sorry. >> She admitted to what she had done and did not seem ashamed, saying this was not their first time. That attitude continued when police questioned her separately about what happened that day. I'm just worried about today specifically. Where do you put all the stuff? In a in a bag, did you empty bag? Came with empty bag. Okay. All all this 1,000 almost 2 grand worth of of stuff. Okay. Right. Okay. And you guys both in the in the dressing rooms together helping each other out? >> Yep. Okay. So, this is what happens from here. You are going to get arrested for shoplift and this number here is above felony. So, >> what's the felony? >> Felony is just a higher crime. So, there's misdemeanor and there's felonies. Okay. So, it's it's it's an arrest. You were going to go to jail today. Okay. And then you're going to have to talk to a judge. That's the question is why did you steal stuff that you didn't? >> Because we could not afford. But that that's not an excuse. So like just you you you did something wrong and >> these are the consequences >> are because >> on your butt. I will I will I'm get a translator. >> Okay. >> So I have to separate you guys just because I have to ask you both the same things. Of course you can translate for her but I need someone who's not you. >> Any way to get not to put us in in jail today? >> No way around that. That has to happen. Um okay. >> Because they trick us. They trick us. They ask us, you know, to be truthful. >> So, just hang tight now. Hold on. Let me >> After the first woman admitted what she had done, police quickly informed the other woman that she was under arrest. What stood out was that she seemed less concerned about the crime and more concerned about other things she considered a priority. >> You are under arrest and you are going to jail. She is asking how long she's going to be in the jail. >> Um maybe the night, maybe the weekend. I I don't know. That's up to them depending on what their policies are on this is a felony. So >> she's saying that she needs to take her pills because she has diabetes. >> Okay. So, can you tell her that the jail has a a pharmacy and nurses there? So, if you have any medical concerns, you address it with them. >> She's saying she doesn't want to go to jail because she's she's not going to run anywhere. >> Oh, well, that's that's not how it work. If you commit a crime, you go to jail. Especially a felony. The felony is a higher higher than a misdemeanor. So, I mean I mean, however you want to explain that, you can, but she's going to jail. If she's asking if she pays the whole amount for this stuff, she she still she's going to the jail. >> Yeah, you have to be happy. >> Yes. Yeah. No, I tell her that you did a crime and then you need to >> Yeah. This and this is this isn't just >> the consequences, you know. >> Yeah. So, there misdemeanor is a smaller crime. That's the one where she's trying to say if I'm not going to run away and I'll take the court date. But felony, this number here, $1,995 is how much she stole. >> So that's a felony. Okay. So we're going to take all that all that's coming with you to the jail. That's it. Thank you, Mom. Appreciate it. >> In the end, the two women were charged with grand retail theft. Planning a theft does not make the consequences disappear. No matter how carefully the merchandise is concealed, surveillance and loss prevention can uncover the entire scheme. Next, [music] this woman even left her own child behind as she tried to escape. >> Well, because she was excuse me, shoplifting. >> So, you take off and leave your kid. >> I'm Tylenol. So, I saw her selecting misinex. Absolutely. Um, turns out the return is denied. On the 18th of January 2026, officers received a report from Walmart about a woman who allegedly stole medication from the store and quickly fled. When they arrived, officers approached her friends who had been left behind at the scene to find out what had happened. >> It's her friend because I straight up saw them take the Tylenol and Mucinex off the shelf and they took the police service that's tried to return it the store two to three times passing stuff between them. She's got a bag in her hand. another friend. She's got at least two bags on her. Um I stopped the friend. Friend took off in the truck ride. Um like I said, I don't think this one right now, but at least >> two drive off. We were right here. We didn't see which way she went. Got to red light a green truck two door and had a bunch of crap in the back of the truck like bags and stuff. I never get a tag. She was at the end of this drive six >> money from it or they dropped it. >> She got money from it. >> So she did. That's what I'm asking. >> Money. Okay. >> Now the other one didn't though. She was denied the return fraud a return because already been returned. >> Okay. >> And you're not y'all aren't doing anything now? know what happened. >> Okay. So, you're just waiting on the other one trying to get Okay. >> Among those left behind was confirmed to be one of her family members. Based on the information gathered during the investigation, officers located the vehicle matching the description. Surprisingly, she showed little shame and admitted to it. >> How you doing? How you >> can that window down? >> So, Miss Powers, where's the medication you took from the store? I left it in the store and I have a receipt that I was going to when I had bought it before coming to return it and they wouldn't return. >> Well, why did you take off? >> Well, because she was accused me of shoplifting. >> So, you take off and leave your kid? >> No, I went to the store. >> What store? >> That store right there. >> Where's your kid at? >> I went there. I mean, I don't know. >> You don't know? >> No, I went there to wait on him. And >> why why would you wait on your kid over here when your kid's in the store? >> Well, because they're refusing to be a shovel. >> Okay, go ahead. Step out. I have a receipt for step over here. Are you a diabetic? >> No. Whose car it is? Is >> person's car it is? Cuz I see a needle right there. >> Yeah. Personal car. >> Okay. >> Whose car is it? >> Frankie. >> Frankie who? >> Johnson. >> Frankie. What kind of thought betting is he? A or B? >> You don't know. >> Fleeing immediately after being accused of shoplifting raised another question. Did her actions suggest the accusation was true or did she have another reason for running? Officers also questioned her about it. >> They accuse you of shoplift. So you take off. >> Yeah. >> Why? >> Because I didn't want to go to jail. >> Well, how? Well, if you didn't shoplift, how you going to go to jail? >> Okay. >> That everything's recorded. It's all on a camera. >> I understand that. >> Okay. So, if you didn't take anything when we get there next >> Okay. Well, like I said, when we get there, >> we look at the camera footage. We look at your receipt. And if it shows that you didn't take anything, you Why would you go to jail? Well, you know, honesty goes a long way, right? >> Why'd you son say you're homeless? >> Search. >> Medicine was it? Where we're at in the car? Don't go over there. Just tell me. >> Um have a sweatshirt. It's in the pocket. My back. >> No, it's in the pocket. >> Okay. Can you look in the pocket of the sweatshirt in there for the receipt? >> Black 602.5. Why' you Why did you change sweatshirts into the jacket? >> Is there only one pocket in this thing? >> There's not a receipt in here. >> You said mucinx and Tylenol, right? >> This is a receipt for Tylenol and something liquid gels. >> Don't start with a D. >> This is from November. >> Okay. Why would you carry medicine to the store from November? >> I just found it. >> See, I've been looking for it. So, you carried >> stuff you found under the seat into the store? >> No contact. >> So, what were you trying to do? We're trying. >> The woman's story had several inconsistencies that were easy to notice. Even the officers recognized them and began pointing out the problems with her explanation. >> You got a lot lot of plot holes here. >> I didn't go straight there, so I'm in trouble. >> Huh? >> I didn't go straight to customer service, so I'm in trouble. >> No, you're in trouble because one, you ran cuz at the at the side of Oh, you're shoplifting. So, you're trying to run from the cops. >> Okay. You're driving a vehicle with no insurance. >> I didn't know I didn't have insurance. >> Well, it don't matter. You're you're the one operating it. Okay. You abandon your child inside the store because you were too scared of the cops. Legality of it. We're We're going to find out. Especially since most of this receipt's unreadable. >> Can I just have a cigarettes out the door? >> Huh? >> There's not any cigarettes >> in the door handle. In the door handle. >> Hey, you want to >> call Chase? and go talk to the people now that we found her. >> This is [snorts] >> so she's saying she walked in there with medicine. >> This is the mother. >> So she's saying she walked in there with medicine with this receipt from November. >> Return the medicine, but she went to the army side. to go service. >> Okay. >> 1335. >> If her actions were considered shoplifting, the fact that she allegedly involved her family member and then left them behind to flee also became a concern for the officers. >> They call they call if a 12-year-old steals or 5-year-old tries to steal, they'll call us. So, we're coming regardless. We're going to do that. >> We were because we had an we had an unattended child that was abandoned at the store. Don't do that. >> We already called them because you weren't here. You left. You abandoned your child. >> I did not abandon my child. >> You did abandon your child. >> No, it would be it would be intentionally it would be intentionally leaving without them to try and avoid the police. >> So, you were trying to avoid the police. >> You even said as much. not having a phone to call him instead of just grabbing him with you. Wh Why did you leave your child in the store? Why? But why did you leave? That's literally Pick that up, please. If you were next to your child the entire time that you should have been, like you should have been because he's 12 years old and you should have been able to use his phone. You shouldn't have left him at all. And then she's she's claiming that she brought the medicine in with her to return. Walked over to where it was on the aisle to make sure it's still the same medicine. >> And then walked then walked around the store and then went to try and exchange it and they told her no cuz it's medicine. And then she was when she was walking out they she said that they accused her of stealing. So she bolted. She threw the she threw the medicine down. >> Meanwhile, another officer remained at the store and reviewed the security footage making the story seem much clearer. Uh, so [music] TJ Maxx bag, she comes up. She's going to return these two items. Tries to attempt to return these two items, which was the mucinx and then Tylenol. So I saw her select the mucex. Absolutely. Um, turns out the return is denied because the receipt she's using, those items had already been returned. >> Oh. >> But she puts those items back into her cart. We continue. >> Did you guys Sorry to interrupt. Did you guys get a copy of that receipt? Cuz she has multiple. >> Yeah. From my from my perspective, it looks like she tried to shop from this Walmart because she lives in Somerville. She don't want to She goes to that one. She don't want to get seen. >> She gets She gets caught. >> So, she tries to abandon her son. >> You never abandoned my son. >> You You did. You did. >> You did abandon your son by getting in your vehicle. >> You leaving and coming back? I did not. >> You got in your vehicle and left the property. Drove somewhere else leaving your son inside the store who's 12 years old by himself. >> Um All right. So in the story of things though, [music] right, the return this first return, >> she tries to to return the the medicine, >> but she puts the medicine in the top part of the cart. We continue observation throughout the store. I >> So she doesn't take she doesn't leave the medicine or anything. She puts it back in reselects the medicine and then um so I'm not going to have the concealment, but I physically saw it with my eyeballs um on um a pet's aisle. Uh, so they will go in my timeline of events, the pets aisle. >> In the end, the woman was charged with theft by shoplifting and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She was also issued a no insurance citation. One bad decision can quickly lead to more problems. Trying to avoid the consequences can only make the situation worse, especially when others are left behind to deal with the aftermath. Before the next shoplifter, let's meet a woman who thought she had the right to stay where she was. refused. >> You're under arrest right now for trespassing and obstruction. >> Obstruction of what? >> Obstruction of justice. >> But what about my rights? Do I not have rights as a citizen? >> On the 5th of August 2023, officers approached a female customer after she allegedly refused to leave the business. The initial reason was reportedly that she had not received her refund. Let's find out what really happened according to her own account. >> Hello, ma'am. Hey. Hi. How's it going? What's your name? >> Sorry. >> What's your name? >> Hello, man. >> My name is >> I'm still here. >> Most police department. Business is closed. They want you to leave. >> They didn't give me my money back. So, >> we're not involved with that. That's >> They've said the company's already refunded you. So, that's between them. >> I called my bank and that's what I'm trying to explain to her that they did not process a refund. >> That's fine. No. Standing here is not going to do anything. >> I need my money back. That's not fair to me. >> That That's between you and you all. been refunded. >> It has I just You just watched me. >> You sent my email. >> I I can't do anything with that. Banks sometimes take processing time. >> It's my been issued to me. >> I can't make anything happen. >> It's not fair to me that I come in here to purchase something and they're withholding my money. >> That's fine. Again, that's between you. That's between you and the company. >> The store that I swatched my >> between you and the company civily. So, you need to leave or you will go to jail. >> I want my money back. Isn't that popular? You need to leave. Talk to you. >> I don't care. You can talk to me cuz I'm here. You need to leave or you're going to jail. >> Typically, card refunds can take several days for the bank to process. That's basic. But the woman seemingly refused to accept it, even after it was explained to her. At this point, the officer made a decision. >> Please don't touch. >> You're going to jail. >> Please do not touch. >> You're going to jail. Put your hands. >> Do not touch me. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Please do not touch me. Why are you testing me? >> Stop hand stop resisting. >> I'm not resisting. >> Can you please stop? >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Wonder because we all resist. Put your hands behind your back. >> Call you. >> Give me your hands. >> Calling >> and stop. >> Please. >> Please give me your hands. Ma'am, >> ma'am. Please put your hands behind your back. You're going to jail. >> I'm going to jail for what? I did nothing wrong. I did nothing wrong. Please stop. >> Put your hand behind your back. >> I did nothing wrong. Just let me go. >> Put your hand behind your back. >> I did nothing wrong. >> Put your hand behind your back. I got one. >> I did nothing wrong. >> Give me your other hand. >> I did nothing wrong. All I'm asking is for my money back. Let me grab my phone. >> No. You don't get your phone in jail. You don't get it now. What started as a simple request to leave ended with the woman facing an additional charge of resisting an officer without violence, a first-degree misdemeanor that could carry up to one year in jail. But at this point, she seemed to have little concern about the consequences. >> This is so not fair. Like I have my children at home, too. Like what do you want me to do? >> I want you. >> I have no family here. >> Get back. There you go. >> Can I at least hold my phone, please? >> No. >> All right, you're going to come with me now. We're going to go to the park. >> Can I just please have >> We're going to go have a seat in the car now. Ma'am, >> I need to make sure that my kids are going to >> We're going to handle that, but right now you need to have a seat in the car. >> This is still not fair. >> Yep. >> All right. This is so unfair. I came down here to get my stuff together so I can move. >> So, please stop pulling from us. This will go a lot smoother if you just listen to us. >> That happens all the time. >> Let me check these cuffs. Just make sure that the money we don't get involved with. >> But they're refusing to give me my money back. >> Please have a seat. >> What is my reason for being detained? >> Well, you're under arrest right now for trespassing and obstruction. Obstruction of what? >> Obstruction of justice. >> Temporal. >> But what about my rights? Do I not have rights as a citizen? >> You do have rights. You have all the rights, but you don't have a right to stay in a business exposed. >> They took my money and wouldn't give it back. They didn't give me a receipt. They didn't send me an email until you guys got here. I came down here with >> But it's not okay. After successfully taking the suspect into custody, the officers spoke with the employees and the story behind the refund gradually became clearer. >> Let's keep it here. But she just clamped up and didn't want to. She didn't want to talk at all at first. And then I said, "Listen, I know you got a baby. Most of the stuff you're buying are baby stuff and home stuff. You're going through some hard times. You moved over here from Pokei." And she just nodded her ass said, and then she admit, "Yeah." And then I said, "How'd you do it? What? What did you change?" And that's when she told me I was using a code. I said, "So, walk me through it." And then she said, "Why do you want me to walk you through it?" >> You told them all this in your tape statement, right? All this came out in your tape statement. >> No, not that. >> Well, you can just go ahead and put mark that now. >> Yeah. Go ahead and mark it. You're listening to it. >> It's more for us. >> Yeah. No problem. >> So, go ahead. So I told her I I asked her why were you doing it and she didn't want to talk and I said I know you moved from Pokei down here with your baby. You're by yourself. I know you're struggling and she nodded her head yes. I said so tell me how did you process it through the selfch checkout. [music] I and she said she used the number. I said what number did you use? And she said there was a number posted on the wall that I was using. I said so walk me through the procedure. And she said, "Why do I have to walk you through it? I don't want to talk anymore." And and I said, "I'm going to call my ride. [music] I want to leave." I said, "Well, I can't hold you." And that's when she stood up and left. >> So, do we know where she lives at? Does she have an actual address there? >> That's the address [clears throat] she gave me. >> And once again, >> the woman was then taken to the police station, seemingly still unaware that her actions had led to criminal charges. >> But when he when he came in, he was coming, he was coming in when she was going to work or whatever, cuz he talked to her. >> I ain't talking about that. I didn't tell her. >> So, you didn't point her out or anything? Cuz he said one employee pointed cuz I was like, well, how do you know it was her? He's like, oh, when I came in, this is what time she was supposed to work. And then one of the employees said, you know, this is her. >> No, when he came in, he he looked at her on camera from the report that was showing that she changed it. And when he looked at her, he called me in and he asked me, "Who is this?" He asked me, "Who is that?" And I told him her name. >> Okay. >> Yeah, >> that's that's the same thing. He didn't point her out, but you you confirmed. In the end, 27-year-old Downer was charged with trespass after warning and resisting an officer without violence. Once you are lawfully told to leave a business, refusing to comply can turn a simple dispute into a criminal case. Arguing over a refund may not change the situation, but resisting an officer can make it even more serious. Next, these suspects tried to flee after allegedly stealing nearly $1,000 worth of premium stakes. >> Keep them right where you can see it. Put them right here on this car. Just a few stakes. >> On the 5th of March 2026, officers moved to detain a group of suspected shoplifterss who had fled from Walmart. The suspects appeared to have split up and escaped in different directions, suggesting they may have been acting together. Here's what happened next. >> Where's the other mail at? You know where is there one in the other? Is there another one in the car? >> I can't see that. >> Yeah. I can't see. Can't see. I can't see in this back window. >> Back window? >> I can't either. >> I can't see in it at all. I can see through the windshield. >> Oh yeah, he's in that back. >> Step out. Step out now. >> Now. >> Let me see your hands. Keep them right where you can see it. Put them right here on this car. >> Hand me your hands back here. When you know we're around the car, why ain't you going to step out, dude? >> Huh? >> When you know we're around the car, why don't you step out on your own? You just going to try to hide? >> Okay. >> You got anything on you? >> No, sir. >> The man outside the vehicle appeared more cooperative. After being handcuffed, he began telling officers his side of the story. >> Yeah, he I thought he paid for some stuff, >> right? >> I pushed it out. I not going to lie to you. >> I got No, I appreciate that. You thought he paid for it? >> Yes, sir. >> And then you pushed out and then what? Then the lady start uh she stopped me and wanted to talk about merchandise. >> Is this all y'all took out of there, man? >> No, he already had that. >> Yes, sir. >> What? >> What was it, though? You said you pushed it out. What was it? >> I think he grabbed like some steaks and [ __ ] >> Okay, >> I ain't even going to lie. He He >> out. >> All right, hear me out for just a second. Okay. It turned out the man was trying to shift all the blame onto the other person, but he clearly knew something about the incident as unpaid merchandise was found inside the vehicle he had been sitting in. >> Oh, yeah. Here's a bunch of stuff in this trash can, too. And more clippers. Imagine that. So, those are probably stolen, too. Just a few stakes. I'll put these things that those clippers with these clippers. >> Yeah, I think that's everything, but it's just a guess. There's really not much in the car except like a pair of shorts and I didn't see tags on them. So, he either ripped them off already or those are his. It was the hoodie. I didn't see tags. Huh. Is there another black guy? >> Nope. >> He The one we got in my car. Yes. I'm sorry. >> Yeah, we just >> we did get one with a Georgia hat. >> More than likely. >> Oh, and he was locked up in that seat. Like just But those windows are black. >> Just had the bag ripped off of recently. >> He was sitting in the back seat. Windows are so dark you can't see in it. When I started looking through the front, he was like, "I'm in here." Hang on one second. He may have changed. No, I got gray shorts, gray t-shirt, and black slides. >> Soon after, a Walmart employee arrived at the scene and revealed what she had witnessed. >> But I did recover merchandise. So when they pushed out, I recovered a tote >> full of stakes and everything else. Um, he wants to admit to doing this today. I can also it saved me the time but I'm sure I have it on video if it's from >> but our concern is okay. Are you saying this happened just now or was this maybe earlier today? >> Tell you whether this happened today yesterday like I don't know when this but I do have 496. I imagine he did this earlier today. So probably got lucky one two times. >> I'm sorry hower. This is yours. My bad. So >> yeah, I mean we're just trying to get all our paperwork together. >> For what I have him stopped on right now is $490 something dollars. So >> for stuff that you've already recovered >> recovered. Yeah. >> Did he make it out the door with that other stuff or? >> Yes. That's why I made the approach and I stopped him and recovered the >> I got you. Okay. >> Um I'm not >> Yeah, we walked up. So you can't see in these windows at all. Hello. >> Back with the suspect, a loss prevention employee had a few final words before he was taken to the police station. These were reportedly the store's final decisions regarding the incident. >> Kevin, my name's Jesse. I work with >> Hey, you know I ain't stolen out that store, man. >> Hey, she's going to talk to you. Okay, >> we're not here to have a discussion. She's just going to talk to you. >> I saw you make selections. >> Did you see me walk out? >> Stop the conversation there. But I am going to let you know you're you're trespassed from the property. You can you're not welcome to any Walmart property at all. >> Okay. But you you just lied. Say I walked out that store with something. I sir >> I bought me a drunk and left. >> No, sir. Um, but you are you on your camera, please? >> No, sir. You are trespassed from the property. This is me verbally telling you you're not allowed at any Walmart store at all. Doesn't matter what state. Doesn't matter what city. >> I get what you're saying, but I know I ain't stole nothing. >> The parking lot counts and this the gas station counts as well. Okay. >> But you got me like I stole something. >> Um, lastly, with your consent, I'd like to take a photograph. >> No, man. >> Yes, sir. Okay. Thank you. >> Put your feet back in, man. >> Hey, can I get a lab? You know I got to ask him. >> Hey, what did he say? >> Huh? I've already told you what he said, man. I'm not going to tell you again. We're going to jail. Let's go. >> In the end, both men were charged with felony shoplifting. Trying to shift the blame does not erase your own involvement. When stolen merchandise is found in the vehicle and the evidence tells a different story, honesty may be the better choice. Next, these women tried to scam thousands with fake ID scheme. >> Yeah, I guess they just they thought you guys were paying with like a fake ID or something. >> So, they they want you to be trespasses. >> This this is crazy. I ain't nobody stuff. I went up in the store. I'm just I went up >> I'm going to give you two pairs so it's comfy for you. Okay. >> On the 26th of June 2026, police approached a vehicle shortly after it left a Menard store. But things quickly became more serious when the people inside were found to have used an unidentified credit account to attempt to purchase 259 items worth nearly $1,800. Here's what happened next. >> Hello, ma'am. >> How you doing? >> Good. Were you guys just at Mards? >> What? I I went up in there, but I I ain't bad. I left out. >> Okay. The reason I'm calling you is because you guys match the plate matches the description of vehicle that was just the Menards. >> You deserve that. We don't got nothing. I don't have nothing in a large. >> You guys tried pan or something like that? >> Yeah, we trying to It didn't go through. That was it. >> I left I left out of there and >> it didn't go through. So, we left out. It was simple as that, sir. >> Okay. Do you have your driver's license or something? >> And I can tell you my name. My social. >> You have a ID? No, >> I don't have my ID. I can tell you my name. >> I didn't go in there. I went up. >> I guess they just they thought you guys were paying with like a fake ID or something. >> So, they they want you to be trespasses. >> Oh, okay. Okay. My name is Danielle Maxwell. Is that what you did? >> Nah, we never we got nothing. >> You want to wear the homie or anything like that? >> No. >> No. My license. You could I went in there to look for a couch. I didn't even go up in there and found one. Went to the register. That's my ID. That that match me. This match my car. >> I got to go get my baby at 4:30. That's why I'm right here. I went down. >> So you guys never gave an ID or nothing like that? >> No, that's my ID. Check the ID. That's >> right. >> Yeah. Along. Yeah. A little misdemeanor. >> Yeah, we got misdemeanor [ __ ] >> Okay. Okay, give me one second to run this. Okay. >> Okay. >> But what was even stranger was that when police asked who was trying to make the purchase, the two women started giving different answers, sometimes even contradicting themselves. >> All right, >> we don't got nothing from >> Okay, I get that. Who Who is trying to buy something at Menard's? >> We going to buy a We didn't get a chance >> using what? Using credit. >> No, we going to pay for it with our money. We just got our taxes. >> Okay. >> I got my >> Did you get both our IDs? >> You got my ID. I ain't go up in there and touch nothing. >> She didn't have an ID, but we got we >> didn't try to pay for nothing with my >> What the >> Where's the ID that you guys ripped out of her hand? >> I didn't I was talking to her. I didn't go to no register nothing. >> Huh? >> I didn't go I didn't go pay for nothing. I didn't go to no. >> I didn't go to We were stealing like what precious head we were stealing. >> No, you're good. I'm just going to check right here. If you use some kind somebody else's ID to try to purchase something, it is what it is. Okay? We're going to figure it out. But that's why we're here. Okay? So, um it's not the end of the world. It's not nothing crazy. Somebody snatched an ID out of somebody else's hand. >> ID search this whole car. Search everything. I don't have nothing. >> All right. We may end up doing that and we may end up [laughter] taking everyone to the station >> for what? >> For an investigation. >> Investigation for Okay. I'm not going to argue with you. >> All right. Perfect. Police then asked for their information and the woman provided several different names, raising an even bigger question. Which name actually belonged to the card? >> So, who bought stuff from Menard's using Akisha Smith? >> For pickup, >> not me. >> Neither one. Nobody here. But the receipts in your purse for Aisha Smith. >> That ain't my purse. >> This one? That's yours? Okay. >> What's this for stealing stuff? >> We ain't stealing nothing out of there. >> Who's this? I know it's neither one of you two, but it's a new credit card. >> What is Ivan? I don't know. >> Who knows Ivan? >> I don't know. No Ivan. >> Nobody knows no Ivan. Someone applied for a credit card in Ivan's name. >> Oh, that must have came in the mail. Don't you think somebody applied for them, they would have went to use it? >> Might not have got a chance to yet. >> Who's Booker Ray? >> Two different people applied for credit cards with stuff in your car. >> And it's neither one of you two. >> My car. >> Whose car is this? It's in my I mean that's this my car but I don't I ain't apply for nothing. I don't do that none of that type of stuff. >> Somebody in your car is in your car in my car. >> They could have dropped that thing at that. >> I'm not telling you my baby real quick. No, you're fine. Where did that purple wallet that you picked up off the floorboard? You got this. >> They came in with my ID. >> All right. I just want Yeah, you're cool. My link. >> Let me just double check it. You're all good. All right. >> I got my own credit card. My name on there. my my bank card up on there. >> I saw >> and my link card. >> I'm just checking out. I came really to go buy something and go pick my baby up. My baby get out of school. You >> check my jacket. >> I already did. You're good. Just relax. We'll get you out here in a minute. >> All that up in there. That's mad. That's my insurance. >> Okay. >> Police then [snorts] compared the information from the store and quickly discovered that she had used multiple names in a single transaction, raising further suspicion that she may have been involved in this type of crime before. did have a Menard's card linked to Aha Smith. So then in order for them to let them pay with like the card not physically being there, they have to match an ID to the card. So then she provides this ID which is not hers and it's not the name that she gave out. >> Do we have that ID? >> The physical ID. They said that she snatched it before she left. >> Okay. >> Yeah. But she they got a photo of it. That's how I ran the file through the over the air. We have a photo of the fake ID that she used. Can we see that? >> Yeah. Can I see it? >> And then we have enough to take >> cuz they pulled out of a meer gas station. I bet it's in a garbage can over there. If it's not in the car, it's in a garbage can over there. That's I saw it on flag pulling out the uh gas station. >> It's on the other security officer's phone, but she's going to send her she's going to send her >> What was the name on it? >> It was this one right here. Uh Patricia Bell. >> Okay. >> So, she used an ID with the name her trying to pass off as Patricia Bell. >> Yeah. So, she gave out >> and the account that she was trying to make a purchase with was also Patricia Bell or was it something else? >> She gave out Kesha Smith >> for the account pickup. >> For the Meer Card account pickup. Yeah. So they're like, "Okay, there is a Kesha Smith on file. Can we see an ID?" And she gave out a Patricia Bell ID. >> So she's giving out two different names. >> That's what made them suspicious. But they didn't actually leave with anything, but uh yeah, got the whole >> It's enough to take her in. She's got She got a bunch of credit cards with different names in her purse and stuff. So >> that's good. Yeah. >> And they were at Burlington, too. They bought two new comforters at Burlington. So I wonder >> Yeah, we'll take one in. >> I don't The driver seems normal. I don't. [snorts] >> At this point, when questioned about the ID bearing the name Patricia Bell, the woman finally changed her story and revealed what had happened to it. >> Where where's the ID that you tried to use? >> Patricia Bell. >> Gone. I ain't got no >> It's gone. Is it in the in the garbage can at the Meer gas station? >> No. Hold on. >> So, where is it? Where is it? >> I ain't never [ __ ] >> You guys pulled out of the gas station. I saw it on camera. >> I ain't Okay. >> So, listen. Just hear me out. >> Where's the ID that you try to use? Do you have it on you? I tossed it. >> Where did you toss it? >> You guys literally drove from the Meer gas station to here. It's like four blocks. You weren't going that fast. She was driving. They were behind you the whole time. >> I'm telling you, I'm not going to lie to you. You told me to be honest. I'll be honest with you. I'm not going to stand. >> She threw it out somewhere in the parking lot. >> I'm not going to say that to you. >> Well, do me a favor. Put your hands behind your back. >> I'm pulling the G up, too. I ain't even >> No, you're good for a minute. Just relax. >> I ain't even did nothing. I picked my baby up. I've been under >> Yeah. Let me lock Yeah, you've been cool. Just relax. And what guy were you guys with? the other guy that was with you guys in a Jeep. Like I said, we know a little bit more than you guys think we know here, right? We didn't just show up here by chance. Who's the guy that you were with in the Jeep? >> I won't I was I came in my own car. I came up there. >> I understand that you came with her in the car and the guy in the Jeep was also with you guys. So, right now, you're not in handcuffs, so everything is going smooth here, but I'm asking for a little cooperation. Who's the guy that you were with? Let's figure it out. >> I don't know him. >> You don't know him? Okay. >> We have another guy named Trey that was on some of these cards. I don't know if that's the guy he's talking about. >> I'll be all right. All right. Well, like I say, I'm trying to sort this whole That's why you're not in handcuffs right now, right? Cuz we're trying to sort this matter out out here on the street. You understand what I'm saying? So, >> the difference between you going in handcuffs and going to the police station, not being able to pick up your kid and getting your car towed is a little bit of cooperation, right? >> Okay. >> I mean, >> you going to take my car? >> It's a possibility. >> So, what I But what did I do? I didn't even do nothing. I went in that bathroom. >> So, that's why we're trying to figure this out. Okay. >> Okay. You could take me back right then and >> you guys got cages. You can have a seat in this car. As for the other woman, she tried to explain that she had only gone to Menard's to buy something, but her account of the friend who accompanied her only raised more questions for police. >> Who is that? >> I don't listen >> the girl. >> Look, that's my friend. >> Your friend? Okay. What's her story? >> She Listen, I told her I'm like, I'm going to go I'm going to go um up here to go find me a furniture thing. She was like, "I'm going to run with you." I'm like, "That's that's okay. That's fine." >> I went up in there. I looked up for a furniture thing or whatever like that. I didn't see one. >> They She was at the register. I don't know. I left out the store. I don't know what happened when I left out the store. That's all I'm telling you. I promise. You can ask this. >> So, you you went in Menards with her. >> What were you guys What was the plan at Menards? >> I went up in there to go find me a furniture cleaner. I'm cleaning my thing. M went out. She went up in there, whatever, and she was looking looking for I ain't f. I don't know what happened when I left out. When I left out, that's when they um the men came out looking at my license plates. So I I moved my car. I'm like, [ __ ] is he looking at my license place? >> Central 265. >> We're going to station in for identity theft. >> I ain't even had nobody ident. >> You do. You got three other people's cards in your car. >> I was This is crazy. I ain't took nobody's stuff. I went up in the sto. I'm just I went up. >> I'm going to give you two pairs so it's comfy for you. Okay, just relax. This is what's happening. Okay, >> contact all these people. >> Crazy as hell cuz I >> suck. I agree. Nobody wants to deal with this. You think we want to deal with this too? But you guys both on. So that's why we're here. >> I'm on my boys. I got a purse full of money. I went in there to buy something. >> They could have just took me right back. That lady would have said I ain't I walked out of this. How am I'm going to jail? I ain't even did. >> In the end, 36-year-old Danielle Maxwell was charged with identity theft, a class 4 felony, and unlawful possession of a fraudulent ID. Using someone else's identity or fraudulent identification can turn a failed purchase into a serious criminal investigation. Even when nothing is successfully purchased, inconsistent stories and suspicious identification can lead to much deeper scrutiny. Next, the shoplifter came from inside the store itself. She was an employee. >> Card of grocery part of what? >> She got a card of grocery items. >> Went to selfch checkckout and mess scan on those items. Taser today. She told you she told you it. On February 3rd, officers were dispatched to a Walmart after a theft was reported. The female suspect was reportedly an employee of the store who had allegedly taken advantage of her position to commit the theft. The loss prevention employee was also able to quickly explain what happened. >> Got a part of grocery items. >> Part of what? >> She got a card of grocery items. >> I went to selfch checkout and messed Skip's hand on those items. And I got you a photo. But uh and then about 3 days later, she came she actually came to work and she was on the clock when she did um that day. >> But basically, she got a lemonade and like a cowzone like a pizza cow zone. >> Only scanned the lemonade. Didn't scan the cow zone. >> All right. So, >> which one are we doing? This the January the 25th one. >> Well, both. Both pretty much going together. >> Okay. Do you um >> No, it's basically one shot lift but two different instances. >> Okay. >> Would you pull would you pull 2K sums for that or would you just run in the same one? >> All right. Do you have do you mind if I look at the Do you have the video footage for that one? >> Yeah. >> All right. But we could look at that cuz that >> cuz it's a different date. So I need >> the video anyway, man. Yeah. I got your copy already though. >> Okay. >> We just basically uh basically >> Yeah, that's so basically that's when she came in to check out. >> Is this both of them? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Both of them all see but what's the total amount? Is it going to be two different amounts? >> Yeah. So basically that's the total amount for when she went to check out. Okay, >> that's the total amount when well when she came in off the clock obviously >> and that's the amount from when she was on the clock. >> Okay. >> The officer then approached the female suspect. She clearly knew what was happening but deep down she seemed unwilling to accept how things were about to end. >> He's coming in or out. >> You [snorts] saying you have a car here? >> You do. Where your keys at? Okay. All right. So, you can take those with you. Okay. Is it locked and secure? >> Mm-m. >> It's [clears throat] not. Okay. So, we're going to do that before we leave. Okay. >> Okay. Can I call my mom? >> K. Can you call my mom? They're going to take me to jail. Can you just call my mama? Bye. Let me call my mama. Can we talk out here? >> Yeah, we can. So, I just don't understand. >> So, I mean, they didn't explain it to you. >> Yeah, but I still don't understand. >> Well, don't you understand? >> Why am I getting arrested? >> Cuz you're going to jail for shoplifting. That's how it works. >> But I didn't do it like purposely. >> Although she knew she had done something wrong, she still acted as if she didn't understand why she was being arrested. She didn't seem to take the situation seriously and instead tried calling her family to explain and make excuses. >> Two separate incidents. Okay? And I've seen the video footage. Okay? >> So, I got nothing against you, but they want to press charges. You got to go to jail. Okay? >> Okay. >> Um, like I said, I'll be compliant. You want to call your mom, that's fine. You want to tell what's what the deal is. We're going to secure your car before we leave >> and we'll go from there. The jail's not going to take that. Do you want what you want to do with that? You want to put in your car? >> You want to put in your car? Yeah. >> All right. That's fine. Here, we're going we're going to stand right here. >> Okay. >> Mama, they arresting me cuz I had bought a drink. I had bought two things the other day and I didn't pay for the drink. And then one day me and Q came grocery shopping and I guess we didn't pay for everything. >> I'm at Walmart. >> Yes. Just tell her to come out to the jail about 2 hours. 2 3 hours and pick you up. >> She said he said, "Can you just come to the jail like 2 three hours to pick me up?" Two, three hours. >> Yeah. Not three hours. >> It's better than a whole day. >> Yeah. >> Um, two black men's and one white man. I don't mean anything about that. >> None taking. >> What's up? >> That's what I am. [laughter] >> Oh, okay. But >> sensitive. >> I'm sorry. I don't mean nothing by >> No, you're fine. Like I said, I got nothing against issue. >> Okay. >> So, when someone wants to press charges, I got to do my job. Okay. >> I understand. >> Okay. >> Call my mom and talk to her. I just got the phone with her. >> We came grocery shopping. We didn't pay for something. Then I bought a drink in a cow zone the other day and I ain't pay for the cow zone. >> Can you just call my mama and talk to her? >> Sorry. You got to go. Okay. you. >> The officer then placed the woman in handcuffs, but even at that moment, she showed no sign of remorse. >> Just hold on to it for a second. Okay. >> You going to put me in handcuffs? >> I am. >> Oh my god. >> If you be compliant with me, I'll put them in the front. >> No. No. >> Can I put him in the front? >> I will if you be compliant with me. >> Okay. >> Okay. All right. >> I'm not dead talking. >> I understand. >> Okay. I'm going to put away with this. >> Let's put them together. There you go. I want to leave enough room. You hold that for sure. >> Okay. So, I'm going to hold on one of these. >> We're going to take your drink. Like I said, I'm going to put you in the back. We'll drive by your car. You tell me where it's at. We're going to lock and secure it before we leave this parking lot. Okay. >> But the keys I don't want to put them in there cuz I might not >> No, the keys are not going in the car. Keys are going with you. That's why we're going to lock and secure before we leave. Okay. Hold on to your keys. Okay. You got anything else on you? >> No. >> Besides your phone? >> Just my phone. >> Okay. >> [laughter] >> On the way to the patrol car, she appeared embarrassed, but sadly not because of what she had done. Instead, she seemed more concerned about how others would see her. >> Embarrassing. [laughter] >> I understand. >> I could have just walked with y'all. >> I got I have >> I understand though. I really do. >> [snorts] >> Yeah, probably 2, three hours. You'll be in there and I got to fill out some paperwork before we leave. >> So, be just a minute. >> Mhm. Yeah, cuz you're going to you're going to get a long form of what you're being charged with >> and then you'll have a set bond for that. >> Walmart has a way of they do things. We deal with this on a daily basis with Walmart. >> I'll call you. >> You said what? >> No, I'll come to my plan. >> Oh, okay. >> I'mma call you. This is like the worst fear of my life. Like >> what? Going to jail? >> Yeah. >> Go to jail. >> I don't think anybody does. I'm all right. >> In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting. Making excuses does not change the consequences of your actions. Taking responsibility is always better than worrying about how others will see you. On the 22nd of April 2024, police received a call from Walmart after receiving reports of a woman shoplifting inside the store. She was also believed to have been previously banned from Walmart. And at this point, both police and loss prevention had been monitoring her every move. Where's she at? >> Right here. She's at register 11. So, she concealed some clothes into that bag. >> Now, she's only scanning like the grocery stuff and like socks >> on. Yeah. She's not attempting to pay for the >> Yes, sir. We're uh we're already inside. >> Yes, sir. Uh for a assault. Um we have eyes on her right now. She's at the register >> and she has trespassed as well >> from the valley but it's for all Walmarts. >> Thank you. Um, if it's up to you guys if you want to do it in the store, but if she doesn't pass the last point of sale, I can't charge her for those. >> Okay. >> Well, well, for us, if she conceals them, >> um, that's enough for us to charge. >> Oh, yeah. If that works, just go and do that, though. >> She's You said it's in the back. >> Yeah, in the back. Yeah. What is it? Uh, it's like a pair of socks. >> Socks and like shirts. >> As soon as the woman tried to leave, the loss prevention employee stopped her. But it was only when she saw the officer arrive that she made a surprising move. >> Get away from me. >> We got her inside. Let go of the phone. Let go of the phone on the inside. Oh, >> her attempt to run said it all. But the surprise did not end there when she suddenly became unresponsive. >> Roll over. You were just fighting me for your phone, so stop. Roll over. >> Just start over. >> Yeah. Come on. Yeah. >> What's your name? >> Isabelle. >> Isabelle. There you go. >> Hey. >> Hey. Wake up. >> I don't think so. I fell at the same time she fell, so I couldn't see that part. Can't feel anything on the other side. >> Could everything that happened have been an act she staged? Because as soon as the medical team arrived, she began to regain consciousness. >> She's had one dose of >> She had these in her pockets. We don't know if she swallowed anything. One of those. You >> want to look at evidence pack? >> Hey Isabelle, did you swallow anything? >> Normally when we go to our restaurant, she'll do this, but she doesn't usually do this. >> The throwing up part. >> Yeah. And our kid might have made that happen. >> She just had fought like two seconds before that though. Like when I walked in, these two officers were like she was pulling. As soon as they put the handcuffs on, she just laid there. >> So I don't know if it was if she swallowed anything. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Now she's brea Yeah, she's running. >> But then she started like kicking. Stop. There's no need to kick. [screaming] >> What started as a simple shoplifting case ended up requiring multiple emergency resources with her condition believed to have been caused by a possible drug overdose. >> Arrested at Walmart. CD found three pills on her. I don't know how many she ingested, but she's acting like she's not responding at all to us. >> P did on scene. >> She did one dose. Um, she reacted. She kind of squinted her nose when I put it >> in her nose, but >> she only been uh vomiting. She vomited a couple times. She's been usually just kicking like that. >> Yeah. When she ran from us, >> she's 100%. She's about 140 for the heart rate. So, she could have swallowed some before. >> No, just kidding. >> Just kidding. Oh boy. I don't think we're working here. Do >> you need my hook right now? She's right. >> Sit up. >> I'm going to cover her to the bed. You guys come here. >> Sit up so I can cuff you to the bed. >> In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting and resisting or obstructing an officer while also facing outstanding warrants and possible drugrelated charges. A theft arrest can change instantly when a suspect's medical condition becomes critical. Once someone stops responding in custody, getting medical help must take priority over assumptions about whether they are faking it. You're >> not going to walk through me. Go. Go. Go. Now, >> I believe in God. I'm not going to the hospital. >> You can go. You can believe in whatever you want. Stop. >> On the 25th of May, 2022, officers received a call from Target reporting a woman who was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave the store. Here is what happened according to the employees at the scene. >> What is she doing? >> Okay. She's like she was like rambling stuff, calling people racial slurs and stuff. We told her leave. She didn't leave. So, did were you telling her to leave because she was disturbing business? Yeah. >> Okay. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Uh, she's disturbing business by yelling at customers, calling them serial slurs. >> It's a white female heavy build. What else you wearing? Black leggings. >> Gray shirt. Black leggings. >> And you told her to leave already. You specifically or me specifically? >> Okay, cool. That's cool. And >> she looks like she's high on something. >> I don't know if she's mentally or high. I can't tell. >> Is she uh agitated, aggressive a little bit? >> No, she's calm. She is. She's back. >> Where's she at? >> Let's go. Still there. Still >> in there. >> Hi. >> Hello. >> The officers found her and recognized her and it turned out this was not her first incident. The situation was also believed to be related to her mental health condition. >> Oh, this you? >> Yeah. Oh, we know her. We just involved her the other day. Same girl. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah, we know her. >> We sent her to the hospital just a little bit. >> She was super mean to us, too. If I can get one of you guys to sign this. >> Yeah. >> Well, we got her name. Let's >> just got to remember what the name was. >> We could find it super quick. We literally Yeah, we we just dealt with her the other day. She's gone. She's deteriorating, that's for sure. What else? >> Uh, sorry. If you Yeah. Uh, if you can just put Actually, sorry. There's not a spot for it. It's the dumbest thing in the world. But if you just throw it right there. >> Yeah. She's like whipping and doing the same things over and over. >> Yeah. She's That's when we dealt with her. She's got all sorts of mental health issues. Where'd she go? >> Bathroom. >> Bathroom. >> Yeah. >> Was that She's at first or is that yours? >> She bought those here. >> Yes. Yes. >> Knowing the woman's condition, the officers were more careful when trying to get her out of the store. First, they calmly and gently asked her to leave. >> The store is closing. We got to go. It's the police. >> We just got here. We're still working. >> Emma just doesn't want to lose. She doesn't want to have to shake my hand. >> Yeah. The store is closing though, so we all got to go pretty soon. Yeah, that's that's called closing. Yeah, right. Her name's Hey. Hey, we have a mother. Her name is Mury. She's drying her physics. Oh, you're drying your shoes. But I know. >> Well, the security wants you to go as well. Okay. >> I'm sorry. I can't hear. And I heard off the intercom. I said, >> "Oh, and I think if you don't honor your >> No, you're being trespassed. You can't be here now. >> God will punish you." >> Haley, right? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. You remember us? We helped you last time. >> Not you. >> I remember you. What is your name? Billy. >> This is Jack. >> You look like Billy. Jack. >> Okay. Billy Jack. Billy. Jack. >> Yes. >> That's a bummer. >> Emily just doesn't want to have to take out. >> Nope. You got to leave. Hey. >> Yep. You do. >> You have to leave. You're not allowed to be in here. Go. Yes. Door open. >> Go right now. >> Standing right in front of the exit, the woman still had no intention of going through it. The officers blocked her path and gradually urged her to leave the store. >> You're being trespassed. You need to leave. >> No, I don't. >> Yes, you do. Go. >> It's not closed yet. >> Not for you. You have to go. >> It's 9:47. I don't want your hand. >> You're being trespassed. You cannot leave. >> Emily just doesn't want to have to shake my hand. >> Emily doesn't have to. You need to leave. That's not a very nice word at all. You need to go. Yes, you are. >> I'm not leaving. >> You're leaving now. >> No, I'm not. >> Yes, you are. >> I'm not leaving, >> Billy. Jack, that's a terrible thing to say. And you need to leave. >> I'm not leaving. Yes. Sounds like a good Don't do that to me. You end up in handcuffs. Don't >> I'm not leaving. Go. >> I'm not scared. >> I don't need you to be scared. >> She's going to have a curse brought down upon her. She doesn't do this. >> Emily will have to deal with that. Okay. Please come. >> I'm not leaving. >> Yes, you are. Come on. Go. >> I'm not trespassed. >> Yes, you are. You're being trespassed right now. Next one. >> Go. >> If Emily kicks me out, then a person will come down. >> Okay. Emily is not. We are. Go. >> This is ridiculous. Go. Billy Jack, you're ridiculous. >> I don't know why you keep calling me Billy Jack. Stop. You're not going to walk through me. Go. Go. Go. Now, please. Come on. Go. Go. >> I don't have to. >> Yes, you do. You actually have to >> stay here until Emily comes out. >> You can stay here. >> I don't even know who Emily is. Right here. >> The difficulty did not end there. She began rambling and speaking defiantly, repeatedly trying to enter the store despite the officer's attempts to stop her. Her resistance did not stop there. Go. >> No. I believe in God, Emily. I believe because I come down upon you if you don't shake my hand. >> She kicked me out because she didn't want to have to shake my hand in the end. >> No, because you're being very mean. >> And you don't believe in God, Emily. >> Then she doesn't have to. Go. >> Haley, stop. It's ridiculous. We're going to end up in >> win. You're not going to do that. >> Yes, we will. to the hospital. >> I'm not scared. >> You're going to end up going to the hospital. Stop. >> I believe in God. I'm not going to the hospital. >> You can go. You can believe in whatever you want. Stop. >> I'm not scared of anything. >> Stop. This is ridiculous, dude. We're going to end up hitting God. Don't >> I'm not scared. I I would even go in handcuffs for God. I'm not scared. >> Okay, let's split our ankles. Uh-huh. All right. Turn around. Put your hand around your back. You're being involved. >> You can't do this. >> Yes, we can. We go involve doesn't really matter which one. We go for both. I would go either or that's what I mean >> honestly. Yeah. It's >> I would go for We'll talk about it. We have both. >> I think we have trespass [clears throat] more double. >> Yeah. Let me just check these real quick. >> Give me my cheese, Billy. >> Your your cheeses will go with you. Don't call Billy Joe. >> Even escorting her to the police car became difficult as she continued to make things harder for the officers. >> There you go. What's your feet? >> Cut off. >> Sit down. This is ridiculous. >> Swing your legs in and do it now. >> No, I believe in God. >> I don't care. This is >> He's going to pull you through now. >> Stop. You're breaking my arm. >> Then swing your legs in. >> Trying to be nice and you're not listening. >> I didn't trespass. >> Right. This is ridiculous, man. Set her down. We dealt with her. Yeah, we inv got a bunch of mental health disorders. There's a boyfriend >> trying to deal with her, but they have no idea what they're stuck in the same boat we are. She's gets in that repeated conversation. The reason why we can go a little bit for the reason why we can do a little bit invo because of our history with her. Without that history, we can barely even hit that. >> The woman was charged with trespassing. Refusing [snorts] to leave after being clearly told she was trespassed only escalated the situation. Cooperating with the officers could have prevented the arrest. >> Oh, she kicked that car again. You ain't a [ __ ] You you suck. >> On the 12th of December 2025, police were dispatched to a hotel after receiving a report about a woman who had used the hotel services but refused to leave even though she had not paid for them. [music] The officer quickly arrived at the scene to get a clearer account from the employee. >> Hi. >> Hello. She called about someone. >> Yeah. No, I guess 13. She's refusing to pay and refusing to leave. >> Well, she was refusing to pay. She just says she don't want to break. My phone >> Hello. Why is she >> So, you got somebody that's doesn't want to. >> Yeah, she's a bit strange. Um, >> she what? >> She's a little strange. I don't know. The conversation I had with her, she's like, you do whatever the you want to do. >> I said, I'm just trying to get payment because you paid up till the 10th. >> However, we need payment moving forward and your card is currently declared. So, it's our just doing my due diligence. Ah. >> And so she's like, "You do what you have to do." >> Okay. >> All right. Well, >> I said, "I'm I'm" So, she hung up on me the first time. I said, "Okay, no problem. I'm very patient." >> All right. >> I said, "Ma'am, I'm just trying to get payment. >> That's all I'm trying to do. >> Your your reservation is still Sunday, >> but I don't think she's going to pay you." >> Well, so if she's not going to pay, obviously, you want to go on. >> Yeah. >> All right. So, I had to have a representative go up with me. So, >> I just think that she's run out of money. >> Uh-huh. Um, >> well, she can't stay for free now. >> So, yes, sir. >> Morning. How you doing? >> He just needs you to go up with him to room 250. >> Let her know that she she's got to go. >> Yeah. And if she don't and if she don't want to go, >> I I tried to reason with her. I tried to get the payment, but first she went off from Denoya this morning when Denoya called her and she was like, "When the manager comes in, we'll sort it out." I said, "Hey, I'm I'm calling you." So, she's like, "What are you trying to call me for?" I'm like, "Well, you want to contact." So anyway, long story short, I just think she doesn't have any money and it's to a point where, you know, I don't want my staff to be >> hassled or harassed. And >> we'll go up and and >> the officers then approached the room where the suspect was staying. They knew she was inside, but it seemed she had chosen to ignore them. >> West Palm Beach Police. said he might be a little 20. He did say that. >> What? >> West Palm Beach Police. I just want to talk to you. >> Hello. What's her name? >> Uh Christine. >> Christine. Yeah. Hello. Do you have a tea? Hello. The woman was confirmed to be inside the room doing her makeup and ignoring everything without responding. This was a sign of resistance, so she was pulled outside afterward. I don't think that's somebody going out. >> I want you to get off my arm. >> Nope. >> You join us for scar yourself. We gave you plenty. [snorts] >> Stop it. >> No, you made me bleed. Hurry up. >> Oh. Uh-uh. Uh-uh. Uh-uh. Stop it. [ __ ] Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. You need to know tolerating traffic from your body. >> Get your foot off. >> No. Absolutely not. >> Get off of me. Get off. >> You trying to kick me? Why would I get my foot off you? But her resistance showed no signs of stopping. As she was escorted outside, she continued to make things increasingly difficult. >> Get off me. You're not in the Get off of me. Oh, she kicked that car again. >> Wait, we just might have to put you in hles >> where you going to be laying down. >> Yeah, he was Was that 15 or 14? You >> want to get in the car? >> Get off of me. I'mma get in the car. >> Okay, get in the car. >> [ __ ] dude. >> Westbound. Start supervis. >> All right, we going to hobble her. Get the hobles. Got it. >> She's a spit in his face. Got spit mask too. She can spit in the mask as long as she want. All right, turn over. Turn over. Turn over on your stomach. There you go. >> It seemed like that would be the end of it, but she was taken to the hospital for a medical check, and she still continued to make the situation increasingly tense. >> Hi, Christie. Christie, >> get your hands off me. >> Do your job. Don't seeing good cop bad coping die. >> Never going to see your ass face again. >> Talking me through this, [ __ ] You're not my [ __ ] >> Don't talk me through. Do your [ __ ] job. >> I don't know what that means. >> All right. >> Out of here. >> No, you need to talk to that. You better not rip my skirt. You better not rip my dress. >> You can't even afford it, [ __ ] You can't afford it. >> You got it. >> I got it. >> I'm about to cut this dress. >> You cannot afford it. >> Cut it, bro. >> Don'ting cut my dress. >> You wish you had one. >> Hi, Karen. >> Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I'm a sassy Okay. >> Okay. I'm just going to cut you through this. Okay. S I'm going to cut you. >> The woman seemed completely unaware of her situation, acting as though she had done nothing wrong. [snorts] Even worse, when she was taken back to the police station, her attitude became even more confrontational. >> No. Come fix it. >> Come on. >> I'm not playing good cop, bad cop with y'all. >> Okay. Yeah. Work for it. Work for it. Work for it. What are you doing? Just take this out. Take this out. >> Let's put her on the bench and then we'll >> down. Put her down, Connor. Okay. Let's go. >> Let's go, Connor. Connor, let's go. >> Just leave her. Leave her. Run. >> Yeah. >> I got jacket. >> You [ __ ] I'm in cuffs. >> I'm in cuffs. >> Hobbler. Bring the hobbler. >> Oh my gosh. >> Get your hand off of my face. >> Get off of me. You're hurting me actually. >> My arm. You're hurting me. >> All right. Ready? >> Yeah. Take it off >> now. She's good. I'm not sand though. >> Okay. Have a seat. Bring them in. Have a seat. We'll >> bring him in. Have a seat. >> Code word. Brooklyn. Yeah. Code word. Brooklyn. She's from Brooklyn. You will never humble me. You will never humble me. You will see me in the streets and be like, I wish I could be like that [ __ ] I wish I could be like her. >> In the end, Christy Franklin was charged with felony battery on an officer. Resisting an officer with violence and trespassing. Refusing to cooperate can quickly turn a simple situation into a much more serious encounter. Staying calm and following lawful instructions can help prevent further escalation and additional consequences. >> Don't do this to me, please. I have nobody to get my baby. Please, I won't pay for I would do anything I have to do. What else? >> In September 2025, officers were dispatched to Target after store staff detained a woman suspected of stealing merchandise with her child. But the situation did not end there. As questions quickly arose about the information she provided, here's what happened next. >> Hey Jerome, I got the other stuff. Take a seat. Ma'am, you're going to be trespassed for a year, 365 days. You come back, you will be arrested. Do you understand? >> They just don't want you back in here. >> That's all that's all it is. You come back here, you won't be arrested. If you do it anywhere [snorts] else, you will be arrested as well. You understand? >> Why is Why is on your ID here? Why is this Williams highlighted? What was your last name before that? So, is this your ID? Why does it Why does the first letter start with a P? >> It's Phillips. Williams is my last name. It's hyphenated. >> What's What's the address you live on? >> Yeah. What's What's the address? How long have you been there for? >> I've been living with her about a year and a half. >> 435. I tried Phillips Williams. Williams. Phillips. Check in house. I'm not finding anything. >> So, are you going to give me your real name then? >> That's my real name. My name is Nicole. >> No, because this number one should look like this. So, Williams is highlighted. Hold on. Hold on. I'm just going to tell you something. This should never be highlighted. That's never highlighted like that. All right. And then if your name was if your name was Williams Phillip >> Mhm. >> that P would be a W, not a P. >> Let me show you. This is >> your actual ID on you. >> This is how I typed it in. When you type it in in a in a photos cuz I when I try to go to my ID, it's like I don't know exactly. >> So that's why it's highlighted. >> Let me show them. And I go to all my photos and then I go to ID. But if your name's Williams Phillips, Williams Phillips is your last name. That P would start with a W. >> My My original last name is Phillips, but I'm married, so it's Williams. So, >> did you ever change that on your ID? >> No. >> The woman insisted that the name she had previously given the officer was her real name. But as the officer questioned her further, it became clear that she had another name on record as well. >> Um, I have to see the photo target purposes only. I don't share this information with anyone. It just stays in our system. Okay. Thank you. >> There's nothing in your wallet that has anything with your name on it. >> Is that not an ID right there? >> No, that's my ATM card. And then I can >> in the wallets. >> No, it's just like >> Oh, it look like something. What about on the other side? What is that? >> Yeah, that's my veter card. >> You just pull those out. What names are on those cards? >> You guys see the cards? So, who's Destin? >> Destiny. [screaming] Is that you? >> Is that you? >> Hello. I think I got a real ID right now. >> Yeah, I think I got There's another one in there. So, your destiny, Phillips. >> Do you have anyone that can help get this baby? >> No, I'm sorry. >> Well, you give ID. Do >> you have anyone that can [crying] get this baby? >> Please don't do this. Nobody. [clears throat] >> Please. Can y'all not do this to me? The mother immediately brought her family into the conversation, seemingly trying to gain the officer's sympathy by portraying herself as helpless. She continued adding personal circumstances to justify her actions. >> So when I move [screaming] back to up here with my family, I changed my name back to the original name that I had. >> Don't do this to me. Please have nobody to get my baby. I don't have nobody to get her. I'm sorry. You can't call your grandma? >> No, my my grandma is in a hospital. I can call my grandma, but she's in a hospital right now. >> Find someone else to get the baby or she's got to come back to the PD with us, too. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. This is my real ID. >> What am I? >> But this is my real ID, too. This is just the old one. That's the only one I had. >> It's not adding up. >> Sorry. What else do you need from me? >> Well, we got your name now. >> But I don't I don't have you originally. >> I'm I'm an adopted child. I don't have nobody. Like like I said, she's the baby's going to have to come back to the TV with us, too. >> Can you please not do this? Can I please pass that point? So, if you want to call someone, I get the baby or if not, she's got to come with us. [laughter] >> No, please don't do this to me. >> We're not doing anything. >> It's important to remember that she had already put herself in this situation by committing retail theft. She had multiple chances to be honest with the officers. Yet, she still provided a false name, making it much harder for them to show her any leniency. >> This would have been fine if you would have g Why did you give this a fake name? >> No, that's not my fake name. That's my real name, sir. I was adopted. >> Change your first name. What are you going to do? >> No, you gave me one that had a last name. >> Yeah, but this is I was married before. >> Okay. The the date of birth isn't even the same. >> This is my old ID, sir. Okay. >> The date of birth on this one's 91094. >> This is my real but that's my real name when I got adopted. >> Yeah, but that's not you. >> This is me. This is a picture. >> But that's not you. [screaming] >> The date of births are different. >> Sorry. >> Yeah. 910. This is 77. That's your birthday. >> Yeah. My birthday. >> So that's the wrong ID. You gave us the wrong name. >> Okay. I'm sorry. >> And you said your name was Nicole. Your name's Destiny. >> My name is Nicole, too. But that's my old name. My name is Destiny. You're going to come with us cuz you gave us a fake name. >> Sorry. >> And you committed retail theft. Okay. >> Can you please give me another chance? I would pay for the >> No, we gave you a chance. >> That's >> We gave you a chance when we asked you five different times what the whose ID says. What's this? What's that? >> You and I. >> The officer pointed out several inconsistencies between the two IDs. If she had only changed her name, why was the date of birth different? She still tried to convince the officer, but to no avail. >> Me, Destiny Phillips. That's the other show. >> [screaming] >> You said that's not me. >> That's not Yeah, that's not the one you showed me. [crying] >> That's the one I showed you. That's me. This is me, too. >> It's not. >> Sir, look at this one. Look, >> I don't [screaming] have to look at it. The date of birth. >> Look at the date of birth. >> Yeah, that's not the one you showed me. That was the one you showed me. Would you be in this? >> So, you're going to come with us. You're going to get a few tickets and then you're going to be out. [crying] >> You have my name. >> We do now. After you we asked you numerous times for it and you gave us the wrong one to you. >> After we asked >> Yeah. We had to find it out ourselves. We had to find it out ourselves. >> Sorry. Please. I won't pay for [laughter] anything. I have to do >> We're past that. We're past that. You already did it. You already passed the time. >> Stop. [screaming] Relax. You're coming back with us. >> Okay, that's fine. So, you're going to jail. You're coming back with us. >> I have to drop. >> Okay, that's fine. But [screaming] you have to take care of this now because you wanted to not give us the right name. >> I'm sorry. We can >> No, you're not giving the citation. You're coming with us [screaming] cuz you gave us the wrong information, the wrong name, the wrong ID, and you committed retail theft. So that's two comps. Nope. You're coming with us. >> Can you give me one last chance? >> No, we've given you enough chances. We're past that. No, we're past that. So you can take your baby with us. We're going to the station. You're coming with us. You're coming with us. Let's go. You can walk around. I'm not. In the end, Destiny Phillips was charged with retail theft and obstruction of identification. Lying to officers only made the situation worse. When the truth is already being uncovered, adding more false information can turn a theft investigation into additional legal trouble. >> Please, please get up. Please get up. Okay. Okay. Okay. They're just bags. I promise you. >> Please don't make this no. On the 27th of December 2024, police were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a woman shoplifting. But they had no idea she was hiding an even bigger secret. First, the loss prevention team closely monitored her every move through the surveillance cameras. >> She's concealing more stuff. She has some in her bag. She has some She's put some on. Um, and she's putting some down pants. Okay. So, >> you want us to wait till she comes out or you want us to go grab her now? >> Um, >> she's already done the act. >> Yeah. >> Um, I just want her like this stuff. I don't know what she's It doesn't matter. You can go get her. I can't go get her. >> No, no, I know. I talking about whatever you want. >> Yeah. Um, I just don't want to miss her at the exit. >> So, we go get her. Under Walmart's current policy, officers were allowed to approach her immediately. When they did, she remained completely calm, as if she had no idea her actions had already been discovered. What are you doing, man? What are you doing over here? >> What are you doing over here? >> I'm texting. >> Just texting. >> All right. You done? Oh, that's that. >> Yeah. What's your name? >> Cheyenne. >> Cheyenne, you got an ID on you? Uh, >> it's in my car. Stand up for me. >> Yeah, stand up for me. >> What' I do? >> You're under arrest for software. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Hold on. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Please. Please. Please. >> Wait. Why are you doing this? >> Can I pay for it? Please. >> We already saw you on camera. Please. >> Can I pay for it though? I haven't walked out the store. Please. Can I please pay for it? Please don't do this. Please get up. Place your hands behind me. >> Please get up. >> You're going to go on the couch. You don't put your hands behind your back. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. [ __ ] Okay. Look. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Okay. Let me call my mom. Please >> put your hands back. >> We're not calling your mom right now. >> Okay. I promise. You're going to go to down to the ground. >> Okay. Okay. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Okay. No. Why are y'all doing trying to >> Because you're resisting. >> I'm not resisting. >> You are. >> I'm Please. >> Okay. I made a bad decision. I knew it was going to happen. I knew I should have put it down. I knew I should have paid for it. I have the money. Please let me. >> So, she clearly knew what she was doing was wrong. Yet, she chose to do it anyway. But things became even more suspicious when she started showing signs of nervousness as the officers searched her. >> No, I don't have anything else. I don't want to tell you, please. >> Sure. >> It's okay. >> What else you got on me? >> I don't got nothing else on me, dude. We're going to find out. See you better. >> I'm going to look. Listen, y'all. I'm not trying to be no harder than this is. >> Hold on. Can you What are you doing? I'm just looking at what's in your pocket. >> Can I see that, please? Just a second. Please. Please. Please. >> Relax. >> Look. Hold on. Let me show you. No, I'm trying to get it out for you. >> What are you trying to get out? >> Can I Can I show you? >> What is it? >> It's closed. Please. >> Why are you pulling me? Stop. I'm not trying. Listen to me. You're You're not doing anything. I will get the clothes. >> That's what we're trying to tell you. >> I'm I'm going to listen. I'm going to abide. Please. >> Okay. Well, you're not doing a very good job right now. >> Can I get a number? >> You'll be able to do that. >> I can't get out of the jail. They're not going to let me get that. >> They will always let you get a number up >> off my phone. >> Yes. Off the >> y'all are positive. >> I'm 100%. >> My vape one time, please. I will be quiet. I will be quiet inside. We'll we'll talk about it when we get outside. You can't smoke inside. >> Y'all can ban me. >> You can ban me from the store. >> I'm going to put your customer out there. Wait. >> All right. Are you Were you going to act like an adult so we can >> I'm not I'm not trying to do make y'all's job any harder than it is. >> Okay. All right. >> Suspecting that she was hiding something, the officers asked her to remove the layers of clothing underneath. But what stood out even more was her attitude. Take these coats off. You're going to take that jacket off. And you're going to >> take the stolen sweater off. Okay. >> I got you. >> Can I take this off? >> Take one off. >> I take my necklace off and put it in the bag. It's going to like hurt my neck. >> We'll take all that off. >> They'll take all of that. >> We don't want off. >> Yeah. We don't want to lose nothing. >> Is it broke? And it's broke. >> Here. I'll put it in. What was that? That was some no. Y'all know it. >> You shut the up, boy. What the [ __ ] >> Focus on what you got going on. >> Mind your own business. >> Huh? >> Can I put my jacket back on? >> If you want to, go ahead. >> Is there any drugs in here? There are not. >> Any guns? Any >> I got my prescriptions in there. >> Okay. They're prescribed to you. >> They are prescribed to me. >> Well, one of my >> This says Eden Joy Solomon on it. >> Let me see it. >> It's my Okay, that's my boyfriend's. >> She denied having any drugs on her, but the more the officers searched, [music] the more suspicious they became that she was hiding them. >> That is >> There's nothing in there. So, >> just bags, dude. No, >> I promise you they just bags. If they were drugs, I promise you I'd have already done it. I'm going to a detox, bro. I would have already done it. >> They're just bags. I promise you. >> Please don't make this no harder. It really is. I know. >> That don't look like no bag to me. >> What? >> I swear some powder. >> But come on. It's a residue. Please don't. >> What do you do? What do you What drug do you do? >> Fentanyl mess. You know, I sold fentanyl. And >> you sold fentanyl. >> I smelled not like recently. Okay. I sold fentanyl >> and then Okay. I really had um a methamphetamine >> addiction, but I went to rehab, completed it, fine colors. You know what I'm saying? Haven't had problems with meth. I haven't had [snorts] >> problems with none of that [ __ ] >> Let's get outside. We'll figure all that out. Don't question me about that outside. In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia. Trying to hide drug paraphernalia can turn a simple theft investigation into a much more serious legal problem. Once officers find evidence that raises suspicion, denying it will not make it disappear. It can give them more reason to investigate further. What do you think about cases like this?
