Who died on that date? >> Who died on July 9th, 2010? >> The woman fancied herself a psychic, attempting to guess the identities of the officer's family members. At this point, she didn't even need to walk to be escorted. Everything was handled thanks to the police. >> Was that your daughter? >> That was your girlfriend who came into the driveway. The chick that just arrested me is saying police or police officer, right? >> You guys are good. You guys are good. Can I have my black sweatshirt? My uh military uh helmet. I'm wearing that sweatshirt, but I put it on the wrong way. It's on the back and it is an Ariot sweatshirt XL >> black. >> That's why they're arresting me right now. >> Hey, stop. Let me show you you guys. This lecture I'm getting arrested for right now. Fred Meyer. Look how these people looking. Oh no. He's going to pitch my arm. Oh, here we go. Oh. Uhoh. Oh, all this went off. Huh? Which meat wagon am I going to put in now? Yeah. Lacy police. Look at all you guys. >> Oh. Hey, my arms are hurting really bad right now. >> We're almost there. No, you're not. Hey, my arms are hurting really bad. Can you like let me rest for a minute? >> No. They're hiding hardcore and there's a good one out here and I don't know what it is. >> This is Justin Vanderwal. >> She spoke an overwhelming number of words. Yet, not a single one addressed the actual incident. Even with no one paying attention, she continued to share a flood of bewildering stories. >> And I'm not a Can you look this way? >> I'm scared of the cops right now. >> Okay. Guess there's nothing I did wrong. >> Trust me. It's a It's a smoke >> cuz we're getting recorded. >> Where's the CSO? >> It's a smoking mirror. >> They didn't even call for CS. >> I only have the 11 right now. I'm looking for my other 11. >> Yeah, >> Justin Williams went for stripe right. They were they were to me they were in SER. He told me they sold. He drove a red stripe right truck with a logo. Then he had a white truck with no logo. But all the years I know of had a stripe ride truck, but it had a magnet magnet logo. >> I was with Justin years. I had two children down in my blood and me just I have them morning 4 or I can't remember what time exactly 4:06 I ah 49 I can't remember. It was in the midst of ice. Justin was the only one I could rely on for transportation cuz I lived at 5215 Dolphin Lane >> Washington 9502. I left him I was 6 months pregnant because I wanted a healthy normal relationship. >> I wasn't going to have one with him and I wasn't going to raise children that way. So if I had to leave in a colony that was like that I I was going to to have a safe nurturing home for me and my children. I just wanted to work man and raise some kids. She was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, assaulting an officer, and property damage. Defying authority and refusing to cooperate can quickly escalate a situation. Remaining calm and following law enforcement instructions is crucial to avoid harm and legal consequences. The attitude was no better, but this woman had an even dirtier surprise. >> Roll over. Roll over. >> I might have pooped myself. Then get in the car. >> Who the hell are you? >> Get in the car. Come on. >> Don't touch me. >> On March 30th, 2024, police received a call from a retail store reporting a woman caught shoplifting. Upon arriving, officers realized she was engaging in even more troubling behavior. According to the store employees, >> what's up, Anthony? >> How's it going? >> You guys want first charges? >> Yeah, she's she's been like kissing people with babies and has already her merchandise wearing it. >> Oh, she has your merchandise on? >> Yeah. You'll see a car. >> How many times have you asked her to leave? >> Three times. And she runs away saying I'm harassing her. Her car right here. That's her right there in all blue. >> Hello. Police department. >> Hi. >> Hi. So, the store has asked you to leave. Could you please remove their merchandise and leave? >> I can't leave. I can remove my merchandise. >> Thank you. >> They call the police again. >> The woman displayed complete resistance to cooperating. If observed, she attempted to leave wearing sunglasses with the tag still attached. And that was not all. Officers also noticed other items. Drop the purse. Take the shoe off. >> This You don't know what's mine. >> It's got the tag on it. >> You don't know that. My shoes are over there. You don't know what I know. >> Where? >> Oh. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Uh-uh. You hold on. Nuh-uh. For what? >> Under arrest. >> For what? >> For trespassing. >> I'm not trespassing. >> You are. >> Let go. My thing's under. >> Let go. >> No, I'm not. >> Let go. Under arrest. >> I'm not under arrest. I haven't done anything wrong. >> What have I done wrong? >> Listen. >> We don't need escalation. >> What have I done wrong? Can you please let go of me? >> Listen, I've already told you. They've asked you several times to leave. >> They have asked you no one. No, they have not. >> I'm going to give you one more opportunity to tell a lie and find you back. >> I'm not being arrested for nothing or force will be used against you. >> Physical force is going to be recorded. >> Physical force is going to be used. You are under arrest. >> Put your hand behind your back. I didn't do anything wrong. >> The store's original request was simply for her to leave, and the police had repeatedly warned her. By now, however, nothing had gone as intended. In fact, the situation had only worsened due to the woman's actions. >> I'm not submitting to something. >> You need to tell her that then. >> Stop. >> I'm not going to jail. I didn't do anything wrong. You didn't my child? Really? Roll over. Roll over. Roll over here. Or pull that arm this way. One time we're fighting here. Hold on here. That one went under. Hold that one. Ouch. You [ __ ] Stop it. You're hurting me, you stupid jackass. Stop it. >> I got to hold this. I'm trying to put these back. >> Stop it. You're hurting me, you stupid. >> Stop fighting. >> Who's fighting? >> You are. >> How? So, >> you literally almost >> I'm fighting. You're literally making me You better have the key to my [ __ ] car. >> I'm looking right at it. >> That's my key. >> It's not your key. I told you the last time we played this. >> This was the outcome of the woman's own choices. One might have expected her to stop resisting after the chaos, but she continued to clearly display her defiant behavior. >> Cooperative. >> No. No. Cooperative. It was cooperative. [ __ ] what we done before. I have privacy in that. >> Listen, it's either you're Stop. They're going to be cooperative. We're not to put you in a >> wrap property in the truck that you have the key to. >> Okay. >> The four truck. >> We're going to give you one opportunity to walk out of here. >> Okay. >> If you don't, you're going to go in a wrap. >> I'm going with my property. >> Okay. >> One opportunity. >> I stand you up. Okay. >> Take the shoe off. It's not yours. >> My property is in the car. >> Take your shoe off. >> My property is in the >> Take that shoe off. >> Right here, too. I have property in this car. Take the shoe off. >> No, my shoes are over there. Take my shoes off. Take off. >> There's a cup I have in here. I have things that belong to me. I'm not leaving the store without it. >> You're going to bring it back to me, man. >> I hope I'm bleeding right now. >> No. Are you pressing your [ __ ] thumb into my [ __ ] Stop doing that. >> Stop. I can't believe you bit my finger. >> Or stomp my toe. >> [ __ ] [ __ ] you. >> You're pressing too hard on my arm. Why are you doing that? >> Stop. >> No, you stop. You're pressing too hard on my arm. >> It was impossible to know what the woman truly wanted. She seemed indifferent to whether her actions were wrong, but above all, she appeared intent on taking out her anger on the officers nearby. >> Break my wrist again. >> Go ahead. Stop. What do I mean? >> You're not a male. That's a male. >> She's requesting a female. >> I didn't request a female. >> I said you're not a male and that's a male. >> Exactly. I don't understand why I'm here either. I'll get the clothes off at the jail. >> Oh, wow. At the jail. I'm getting arrested for that. >> Oh, I think she pooped herself. >> Who called the medic? Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa. Don't touch my butt. >> Anything on that side? >> You think I pooped myself? Like a goddamn baby. Why are you twisting my wrist? I told you you broke it once already. >> I have an X-ray that you need to stop. >> Stop. >> You need to stop. You're the problem. >> And everyone's going to stand around. Let this happen. I hope someone has a captain. It's not funny. >> Sit down. Don't tell me. >> Act like an adult and I won't. >> Wow. Sit in the car. I >> thought I was minding my business acting like an adult already. >> Please don't touch me. Please don't touch me. I feel so violated. Really? >> Sit in the car. >> I might have pooped myself. >> Then get in the car. >> Who the hell are you? >> Sit in the car. Come on. >> Don't touch me. >> Here you go. Thank you. >> Go get my thing. >> Okay. [ __ ] you. She bit his finger. >> She bit me against my [ __ ] tongue. To reiterate, the outfit she was wearing had also been taken from the store. And at this point, the police had to inform the staff that it would be difficult to return it immediately. >> Um, the clothing that's on her, I'm pretty sure she might have defecated on her. >> That's why it's totally fine if you have to get I don't even want the clothes back to her. >> Did she have any property with her? >> No, she literally came with pretty much nothing. Like, whatever. >> Does she have shoes on? >> Yeah, she has Vans on. I can go in the clothing department and see if there's over here. >> That's the only thing you think she has. Besides that, >> definitely says you have enough info to log the RP. >> You just told me I can hear him. >> What's your name? >> No name. >> All right. I'm just going to have to get my fingerprint error and get your finger. So >> Sarah. >> Hey, Sarah. What? >> What's your last name? What? >> What's your last name? >> What' you say? >> What is your last name? >> Pan. RP. >> You want me to just email it to this one then? Or >> I'll send you a link tonight. Um, what time you off? >> I'll be here till 11:00 cuz we got to do like a close tonight for Easter. >> Okay. If you don't get if I get tied down and you don't get a link from me, just email it to me when you get it. >> Okay. You'll probably get like a >> Immediately afterward, the police tried to confirm information from the woman, but it was far from easy. Her irritability persisted throughout. >> All right, miss. Can you lean forward real quick? I got to get your your thumbs. >> You got to get my thumbs. >> Mhm. If you could just push your thumb like that. So, your right thumb. >> I guess you're going to have to do it. I'm not going to help you. >> Pretty sure that she pooped herself. That's kind of gross. when you when you >> Okay. Well, I'll have to see. There we go. >> Uh, she's calm now. I don't >> We didn't use any force on her. We just pulled her out. >> Does she have a complaint of pain? >> She has a complaint of pain at all. >> I think >> Is your name Tanya? Tanya, are you injured at all? >> Tanya, are you injured at all? >> Nope. No complaint. Okay. Oh, >> your shoes. >> Those shoes were not mine. Neither is the [ __ ] I'm wearing. The stuff in the [ __ ] shopping cart was mine. >> They said it wasn't. >> I don't care what they said. You never >> She doesn't have a complaint of pain and no injury. Sir, >> are you injured, Tanya? >> My name is not Tanya. >> Okay. Are you injured? >> What's your injury? >> You slammed the door on my elbow twice. >> She said I slammed the door on her elbow. >> You're undignifying me right now. The woman was charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, assaulting an officer, first-degree burglary, and failure to appear in court. Resisting law enforcement and refusing to take responsibility for one's actions only escalates consequences. Compliance and accountability can prevent minor incidents from turning into serious criminal charges. Next, let's see how this crafty shoplifter completely wre havoc in THE STORE. BUT YOU DIDN'T give me a chance or you instantly started harassing me. Well, >> please, sir. I'm just On July 12th, 2024, police received a report from a sporting goods store about a woman caught shoplifting on the premises. Here's what unfolded immediately after officers arrived at the scene. >> Um, black pigtails, huge backpack. What's she with? You know where she went? >> So when she came in, the backpack was actually open and completely empty. She's been in the sitting room with Nike Adidas products. Came out. It's absolutely >> um manager's asking for you to go over. >> Hi. Can >> you open up your backpack? >> Why? >> Cuz you have items in there that don't belong with you. >> That's not true. >> Okay. Open up your backpack. >> No, I don't have to do anything for you. I don't even know why you're approaching me. Out of everybody in the store and I've been in the dressing room, I've looked at everything that I want. >> Oh, that's all right. We're not going to play that. Just turn up. >> No. Okay. Although the woman denied the accusations from the officers, her subsequent actions revealed nothing of her innocence. My hair, bro. Stop. I haven't done anything, bro. >> Stop. Put my shoes on. >> Let me put my shoes on. >> Stop, bro. Let me put my shoes on. >> Stop. Stop. Please. Let me put my shoes on. Stop. >> Bro, if you keep pushing me, there's no way. Stop. >> Stop. Now >> stop. Stop. >> Can you please let me go? >> Stop. Stop. >> You don't even >> put your hands behind your back. >> Stop. Stop. >> You're not even allowed to pay for my stuff. >> Stop. Stop. >> You're tripping. >> It became even more absurd as her actions clearly made things difficult for the officers. Yet, she acted as if she were the one trying to calm the situation. >> No, you put it in her bag. It's in that bag, >> bro. Chill out, >> bro. For real. Chill. >> Listen. You're about to >> Stop right now. You're going to get You're going to end up in the face. >> YOU'RE TRIPPING. I CAN'T. I'm telling you right now. >> Can I at least put my shoes on? >> We're not even done. >> Bro, >> I'm trying to be nice right now. >> Hey, YOU'RE NOT BEING NICE. Y'ALL DON'T EVEN know you're the right What the >> Why did it have to turn into that? >> Why did you turn it into that? >> You ran from me. Now you're going to GO TO JAIL. >> YEAH, cuz you're tripping. >> Cuz you're not going to go TO JAIL. >> WHY DO I GOT TO GO TO JAIL? >> Because you stole stuff. >> I didn't steal anything. >> A bad thing. >> Items belong to me. >> That don't belong to you. >> You know what? >> Yes. >> I to the register. >> Do you have anything on you that's going to poke me or stick me? No, sir. >> Those are what I wanted to pay for. >> Uh because it's easier to carry. I don't have a bag. >> She didn't have a shopping bag, so she stuffed the items into her own bag. Hardly an acceptable excuse. On top of that, the staff immediately pushed her shopping cart away. >> Why did you have to turn into that? >> That's what I want to know. >> You were going to go home with a summon. >> Okay. >> You were going to get a summon for all this. That would have been fine. >> But if it's over $1,000, it might be a phone. >> It's not over $1,000. >> How much is in there? >> I don't know. >> It might be. >> It's not. >> It might be. >> It's not. >> What? She had another Oh, that bag. >> Yeah, this had the Timberlands in it. Ton of hats. I'll have to take a look at that one. >> We'll probably have to go with just what she had on her. But she had that in her hand. >> Well, this was on her back. That or that was on her back. This one is in her hand. So, >> all right. Let's go outside. >> Okay. First of all, that's my backpack. >> Why did that have to happen? >> I don't know. Why did you force it? Oh, >> come on. >> So, you're going to steal and then you act like it's my fault? >> No, I'm tripping on you because you're bugging. >> Okay, you're right. Should I just let you steal and walk out of here with a bunch of stuff? >> Who said I was walking out with it? >> He was in your book bag >> and my wallet is right there. You don't know what was going on, sir. There was absolutely no remorse for her actions. At this point, she could no longer pretend, and she even admitted that she still had items hidden. >> Wait, come here real quick. I got to make sure you don't have anything else. Do you have anything else on the pack? >> Yes, I do. >> What do you have? >> A hoodie in my pants. >> Where? >> In my pants. Should I just get a summon? I'm tired. >> What do you mean? What do you mean? What do you mean? >> Why you can't just give me a summon? You're chasing. >> I don't though. If you check, I promise you it's not. >> I don't know. >> Dicks is pretty expensive. I'm telling you, I don't have over $1,000 worth of stuff. You could check. And if you check, can I please get a summon? >> No. >> Why not? >> If you were walking from the very beginning yesterday, >> but you didn't give me a chance to. You instantly started harassing me. Like I >> open your bag because it's full of stuff that you didn't come in with. >> You opened your bag and then opened it. You would have got a summon. I guarantee you if you would have been cooperated with me, you said you pull away from afford to do this. My mom just my birthday. I'm just trying to make it ends me. Please get your feet in. >> Please, sir. >> We'll talk about it. Get your feet in. Okay. >> Will you please you talk to me with it? >> We'll talk about it in a second, but you got to get your feet in. >> I'll do that. But please, sir. I'm just I I'm having a hard time. >> It seemed that after fleeing, resisting, and deceiving, she tried to elicit sympathy. Of course, to no avail. When questioned again, she fully portrayed herself as the victim. >> So, can you describe what happened? Uh, it was advice. Basically, I I tried to run, grabbed my arm, I got away, and then um he pulled me by my hair, my shoes came off, and he started throwing me up against the wall and stuff. >> You didn't end up on the ground? >> No. >> Never ended up on the ground? >> No. Are you injured in any way? >> No. >> No. Okay. So, uh, you said you started running away. Were you walking away at first? >> Yeah. >> Was he telling you to stop? >> Like, come talk to me. Anything like that? >> I don't think you said come talk to me. >> You said you were running away. Why didn't you just stop and talk to them? because it did make sense to me how they automatically accused me of stealing and I was in the dressing room the whole time trying on clothes. >> Well, you just told me you were stealing. >> I know. You can't wrong about the assumption. >> I'm not worried about that. I'm just like why did they have to think that I was stealing? You know what I'm saying? I'm just wondering what made them call the police as as they're trying on all the clothes >> cuz you're walking around with stuffed bags. It's kind of an indicator. >> The surprises didn't end there. On the way back to the police station, officers ran a background check and discovered that this was not her first encounter with the law. >> So, I would have, but the problem is you have another resisting arrest warrant. What are you talking about? >> A warrant. >> Yes, you have a warrant for resisting. >> For what? >> For resisting arrest here today. >> You said what? >> Resisting arrest. >> For where? >> Hold on a second. >> Cuz I didn't resist arrest on anything. Can you please tell me where it's at? >> Is this your car over here? >> Yes, sir. >> I'm going to throw your bag in there. Do you want your wallet in there, too? You want your wallet in there, too? >> Yes, sir. I I really don't understand why I have a warrant. My 3 told me I don't have any warrants. Why do I have a warrant for it? >> All right. Your bag and your wallet are going in the car. Okay. >> All right. Yes, but I'm serious. My B told me I will let me put this in your car first. Okay. Okay. >> Cuz sir, I've been to jail every time they took me. I've never not got away. >> The woman was charged with shoplifting and resisting arrest. The incident is that denial, deception, and attempts to manipulate sympathy only worsen the situation. Cooperation and honesty with law enforcement are far more effective than resisting. Next case, Walmart was thrown into chaos by this father of four. >> Stop being a t. I'm going to tase this [ __ ] to you. You get on the ground. Put youring hands behind your back. >> I'm sorry. That's why you're faster than I thought you. >> On July 12th, 2024, police responded to a call from a Walmart regarding a shoplifting suspect. The situation immediately escalated when officers noticed the suspect showing signs of attempting to flee. >> Stop being tased. I'm going to tase the [ __ ] out of you. You get on the ground. Put your hands behind your back. >> 18. We got one secure Walmart 31. dropped the flashlight. >> Did it go into the thing? >> I'm all right. >> It's my baton. Shoot flying everywhere. >> I was getting ready to stop down here. It's my magazine. Seat on the bench. >> At loss prevention, officers quickly proceeded with standard procedures. It also seemed to be the moment he started coming up with excuses to try and gain sympathy. >> Stand up. >> You have any weapons on you? >> No. >> Good feet. >> I have se Soon as I went to the um Moody and uh 20 I heard y'all had a little >> So I probably going to get a hard turn notification. >> Had a little foot chase and whatnot. >> I got four kids. I'm just trying to >> Why do you look familiar? >> I don't want I was honestly I was going to resell them and I just got four kids. It's hard. I'm >> I understand, bro. I got three. >> I I have the money to pay for them. I just >> You got $770 plus tax? Yeah, it it's stupid as if to be honest. It's just >> So, how many times you done this and not got caught? >> Not ever from Walmart, but >> you be hitting loads. >> No. No. >> Where else? >> It's just like every now and then I'll do something small like toothbrushes, hair stuff like >> here. >> Body wash. Not like No. >> So, you drive all the way from Davenport to come to this stuff? >> No, I'm not. That's an old address. I'm not from Davenport. Where you where you stay? >> I stay in um uh Date City. >> So, he admitted that this wasn't his first time. Clearly so experienced that he immediately tried other tactics to avoid getting caught. >> Can I pay for this stuff? >> Huh? >> Can I pay for it? >> I mean, if it was like 10 bucks or something, bro, that's $770. >> I know what I'm saying. Upon arriving at the scene, officers along with store staff monitored the situation through security cameras, waiting for the right moment to act right now. >> So, is it just her or is it both of them? >> That's all I'm only her her friend. I will cooperate with you guys. Please let go of me. Please let go of the phone. Let go. Let go. >> Like you guys are literally putting me in handcuffs for nothing. So >> you put your mind on your back. >> Shortly after, both were escorted away. While their physical resistance had lessened, the tension in their voices remained, and they even continued dragging family members into their excuses. >> Have a seat. Please >> have a seat. >> No, I need my child. >> Have a seat. >> You're resisting. >> I'm not resisting. How am I resisting? That's exactly why you were here. >> Oh, we are? >> Yeah. >> So, you have knowledge of this. >> Clearly, you guys just pulled her out of a bathroom. >> So, clearly she was stealing >> suspiciously. How did she know her relative had gone in with the stolen items when she hadn't even entered yet. All of this only further exposed her deceit. Back with the person inside the restroom, the officer had to remain cautious. >> Leave her with my glass right now. >> Don't worry about all that. Okay, now. >> Listen, here's what's going to happen. What's going to end up happening is he goes with DCF. You don't cooperate. >> DCF. >> Yeah. Bought moving boxes. >> You were in the car while she was getting the moving boxes and all. >> No, we were in the store together right there. >> So, she was getting moving boxes and what were you getting? >> We were together the whole time. >> What were you getting? >> I got my scrubs with her and we went over to get boxes. >> Scrubs. Why did you take the items into the bathroom? >> I originally wanted her to go pee and check my son. >> Okay. So, you do realize you cannot take items in in the bathroom? I didn't know that. >> I've done that before. I've gone to the bathroom. I've purchased those. >> Shortly after, the woman was also escorted to the police vehicle. She still appeared anxious, but it was clear that her worry was entirely of her own making. >> Who was going to come get my child? >> No. >> How's DCF going to come get my y'all just told me his grandma would come? I need to call his grandma to come get him. I'm not letting him go to DCF, bro. No. Y'all got me up. No, Y'ALL SHOULD GET HIT GRANDMA. I'M not going, bro. >> Okay. Can I sit? Can I stand? So, it's all up to you. >> I know. I don't have anything. NTA is I release you tonight and you got to go to a court date. All right? And you tell them, "Hey, listen. You You argue that with the court. You argue that with the court." Okay? But those are the two options you got. >> I can release you at NTA or you I can take you to county. Whatever you want to do, that's up to you. >> Okay? So, we're going to take you out to the hospital, get your information. I release you. That's fine. >> Some remorse had begun to surface, but not for her actions, only for her perceived fate. A sentiment mirrored by the other suspect. >> That wasn't the best thing for me to do, but listen. Listen. >> Have my baby with you, bro. What the [ __ ] >> The good thing is >> What the >> Adore The good thing Everything is It's misdemeanor. Okay. Is this your first time? Is it >> okay? Char abuse for shoplifting, resisting arrest and bringing a child into a potentially dangerous situation. Devade responsibility. Make excuses, especially by involving children, only escalate consequences. Remaining calm as deception and defiance can turn minor mistakes into serious legal trouble. Next, meet the no-name lady who tried to run while declaring herself completely innocent. >> No. Wait, >> stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. >> I sold you. What? Wait. >> I don't believe what you're telling me because none of it's coming back to an actual person. On June 20th, 2023, police responded to a reported theft in progress. But the moment she spotted the officers, she took off. At that point, the police had to split up and search for the suspect. >> Can I get in your car? >> Yeah, I'll just do that. She was kind of me left behind C. I don't think she made it out to freeway yet. 42. I'm checking some of the side roads. >> I had a guy in motion me. She went northbound behind the building, but I haven't seen her. >> I didn't see her down the track there. >> I think she might be hiding slow down. The police searched from the highways to the vacant lots around the store only to find the woman hiding in some bushes. But her next actions were even more surprising. Hey there, Mount Vernon. Police. Stop right there. Stop. She's right here. Hey, what are you doing? Stop. No. Okay. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop this. Stop. >> Hey. Hey. >> Stop. >> Stop. Who are you? >> Who are you? >> I'm an officer of the Mount Alberta Police Department. >> You scared me. I thought you were a stranger. >> Put your hand behind your back. >> Put your hand behind your back. >> She rolled herself as if the police wouldn't spot her, even attempting some psychological manipulation. But of course, her arrest was inevitable. >> Just remain calm. >> Stop. That's not remaining final. Stop it. Stop. >> I was just being more comfortable >> right now. You're going to be under arrest for resisting if you don't stop. >> I don't have any. >> I told you you're being detained. That's mine. >> Okay. >> Oh, this is that girl that refused to ID herself from us >> uh last summer. Remember her? >> No. She's on uh Coulson. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. >> We never IDed her. >> It turned out this was not the first encounter between the suspect and the police. From this, it was clear that the woman was steeped in wrongdoing. Even this time, as every item she tried to conceal on her person spoke volumes. >> Feel any weapons yet? >> It sounds like a PC for theft in there. No, >> we have PC for theft, too. Okay. What do you think? I don't have bed. >> What's your name? >> What? >> I can't hear you. >> All right, go ahead and stand up. You're under arrest. >> Check Chad. >> I'll follow up with the store here. >> This car is closest. >> Uh maybe mine right over here. >> Okay. >> You don't want to go through the jungle. Have a seat there for me real quick. >> Where was this found? >> That was honor. >> Oh, perfect. You didn't find anything else in there that looks like it's it belongs to them? >> No. Everything else looks pretty used. >> Right after the woman was placed back into the patrol car, something unexpected happened. After her absurd attempts to hide and flee, she now naively claimed she had done nothing wrong. >> Do you understand each of the rides I read to you? >> Yeah, I understand. >> Okay. Having them in mind, do you wish to speak with me over the store? >> Okay. They have really good cameras over there. Is it going to show them or is it going to show you putting a uh hat underneath your shirt? >> No. >> Okay. What were you doing over there? >> I was looking for scissors. So, if you're born in 1991, you'd be at least 31 years old. 1991. No, I wouldn't. >> Yes, you would. It's currently 2023. You'd be at least 31 years old. >> Oh, well, I've been telling the guys I was younger, so I don't even >> All right, listen to me. Just stay here for a second. >> The store. The items she put on will call here were under the name Amber. Just FYI. >> Where is it? It was clear that the woman had lied about her personal information. Despite prior warnings from the police, it was disappointing that even when given another chance, she still clung to her fake display of innocence. >> Why aren't you telling us your real name? >> I did tell you my real name. >> Why don't we have any record of you? >> I'm not sure. >> Have you ever had a Washington ID or another state ID before? >> I have not. I just don't remember if it was 199. >> Well, obviously you don't because you you first you said you're 29, then you said you're 28. So, you can't even keep that straight. >> Well, I'm close to the age 29. I'm almost 29 or maybe I just can't remember if I'm 2. >> Okay, so here's how this works. When you don't identify yourself, we take you to jail and we fingerprint you and you will sit in jail until we get a return on you. Okay. >> So, what is your name? >> It is Anna Hillers. >> Hillers. >> Hiller. >> Hiller. >> Mhm. >> She even avoided making eye contact with the officers whenever she said her name, seemingly believing that acting this way would somehow keep her out of jail. >> And I told you you were under arrest for theft, obstruction, and resisting. >> You didn't tell me I was being arrested for theft. And I'm not arrested for that. >> Well, I've told you several times during this conversation then. So, get out of the car. >> You haven't told me that. Here's the deal. If you don't get out of the car, we're going to have to force you out of the car. >> Why can't you just drop me off and give me >> I'm not doing that. >> But you already said that. >> We can't identify you. You keep lying about who you are and your date of birth and your age. >> I told you >> when we can't identify you and you're under arrest, you go to jail. >> Do you identify? You did identify me. >> I have not been able to positively identify you. >> I just told you what? You need to stay right here. Hey, here. Grab her. >> Ma'am, relax. What is wrong with you right now? >> I need to go. >> You can't leave. You are not leaving right now. Put your arms behind your back. Put your arms behind your back. I'm not going to try to leave. >> No, it's too late. >> I'm not playing this game anymore. >> Put your arm back, man. >> 61 to 10. >> From fleeing and passive resistance to the moment she was cuffed, she remained cold and indifferent, as if silently admitting her wrongdoing. On top of that, she didn't carry any ID. >> Right on time, huh? >> Pretty much. Where's your ID? >> I don't know. >> You don't have one? >> You don't have one in your purse? have another unit come by. Uh, can you have the manager come up? >> Yeah, I got you. You want me to take this in or leave right here? >> He can leave right here till he comes out and decides what he wants to do. Can you tell me what happened? Why did you need stuff? >> Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I'm just trying to get stuff for my family. I'm sorry. And I I don't want to go to jail. That's the last thing I need right now. >> Why are you trying to run from me? I'm going to tell you not to move. Why do I have to grab you? I don't want Do you think I want to do this? >> No, I don't. I'm just I'm >> I know they say you're scared, but you cannot run from the law enforcement when they're stopping you. >> You're escalated this. Yeah, I don't want I didn't have to put cuffs on you. >> I just have her detained there now. >> Just looking for her on camera actually. >> And it seemed like this was a planned theft as the staff confirmed through the camera that there were signs of a getaway vehicle. >> What's up? She was waiting for her ride. The forget getaway car was actually parked in the front parking spot in that handicap place. >> You got it on camera? >> Uh yeah. >> You got a tag on there or whatever. Even if you don't have one, >> I'm going to I'm going to try to get a tag for you now. >> 1439 from last night. >> I do got uh I think I got a plane for you. >> All right, you're good to go. >> Back here for your property. So with your bads and stuff. >> Yeah, I know. >> All right, go ahead. >> There you go. Thanks a lot. >> Yep. You need anything else? You know what to put in your CRA and everything? I figured I'm going to go to I'm going to go to a station and get with Sergeant cuz u >> Records show her name is Samantha with a lengthy criminal history dating back to 2021 including multiple petty thefts, multiple failures to appear, mostly related to DUI, possession of controlled substances, driving while license revoked, violation of probation, and a series of grand thefts and retail thefts afterward. By July 17th, 2024, Samantha continued to be arrested multiple times on similar charges, revealing a relentless pattern of criminal activity. Samantha's years of repeated crimes show that running from the law and ignoring consequences only traps you in a cycle of trouble. Take responsibility early or small mistakes can ruin your future. Next, to ease the tension, here's a completely low-key arrest for a change. while she was off the clock. It would be considered >> shoplifting. If it's off the clock, it's shoplifting. If it's on the clock, it's theft. You're how old? >> 19. Okay. On August 3rd, 2023, police were dispatched to Walmart after a report surfaced of an employee manipulating prices on the register and even shoplifting. They arrived on scene immediately. And here's what the loss prevention employee recounted. >> We got us a So, is this one a little different than the other one? So this is Mariah. >> Um >> okay. >> Um >> yeah, she uh price overrided items on the register. So what she'll do is when she finds something, she'll do it like a few dollars cheaper. And then also um >> so she's scanning the items and then saying there's a pricing error. Yeah. >> And then paying a reduced amount. >> Yes. >> Got it. Okay. >> And then that's all the items from the scan. >> So a total of $89. >> Yeah. A total of $89.87. >> 87. Okay. >> And then right there, she shoplifted right in front of me. She shoplifted in a a deli food. >> Okay. So, how now is she doing all that? She did all this on duty. >> Um, that wasn't when she was on duty. That was when she was off duty. >> So, some of these were on duty, some of these were off. >> So, right then and there she was off duty when she had shoplifted. Um, most of these like she's scanning a code so she has to be on duty. >> Mhm. >> But this one specifically on the 19th is not on duty. >> That's not on duty. When she She did not. >> So everything else is on duty. The wings are off duty. >> She walks the street straight to the break room and >> Okay. So technically we have two. We have theft by taking and uh shop. >> The suspect even took items freely both on and off the clock which tied her to two separate offenses. At this point the police explained the situation clearly to the employee. Um, unless she has prior for shoplifting. >> If it was while she was off the clock, it would be considered >> shoplifting. If it's off the clock, it's shoplifting. If it's on the clock, it's theft by taking. So, if I get a get her schedule and see if it if she's like working at that time. >> What do you mean? >> Well, if she's working on the clock or off the clock at this point, >> like right now? >> No. No. >> Oh, >> so yes. if >> if you would if you were able to pull her schedule and you could tell me at that exact moment that she was not working when she did that. Um >> at that point it would still be it would it would still fall under theft by shoplifting. >> So it's it'll go by as the same. >> Mhm. So in this case, because from what you advised earlier, the the one on the 19th happened when she's off duty. So that one, the wings at the very least will be that will be the theft by shopping. >> All the items she took were mostly snacks. So the charges were considered misdemeanors. However, reports showed her actions spanned from January through March with all details clearly displayed on the screen. And this all happened on >> Oh, it happened throughout. So, some of it happened on like I saw where was it at? There it is. So, March 19th, March 5th, March 5th, February 17th, February 11th. >> It started on um it started on January >> January 24th. So, what alerted y'all to this? Like the amount of price overrides or >> I watched her steal conf >> for the for the wings. >> So, that was what I got. >> Okay. I watched her steal in front of me and I was like, "Yeah." >> Well, I remember you said that. I wasn't sure if that was the most recent one and if that was what had set it off. >> It said, "So, I watched her." >> Gotcha. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, the wings is the only thing she didn't do the price error thing for. >> No, she walked straight to the break room >> with the wings. Okay. Okay. But everything else she did by doing the >> price error alteration. >> At this point, the police approached the woman who fully knew her wrongdoing, offering no excuses and showing no remorse. >> So, I'm just going to let you talk to me. >> All right. Make sure I got all your information together. >> Okay. >> First name is Maria. >> Mariah. >> Mariah. M A R I A H. >> Last name is Hughes. H U G H E S. >> What's your date of birth? >> Uh, October 20th. >> All right. Um, so Miss Hughes, you are being placed under arrest for theft by shoplifting and theft by taking theft by shoplifting for the items you took while you were off duty and theft by taking for the items or for the alteration of the prices that were done while you were on duty. Okay. >> All right. If you will do me a favor, um, just cuz probably go if you'll go and take your vest off, badge off, all that. >> Um, did you drive your vehicle here today? >> Um, no. >> Did you get dropped off? Okay. All right. um stuff. >> Uh you can go and take all your stuff out of your out of the vest and all that and it'll all go with us. Okay. >> At just 19, with a job in hand, she still made these reckless choices, jeopardizing her own future. Shortly after, the police swiftly wrapped everything up. >> That's theirs. This is all yours. Okay. All right. If you will do me a favor, if you'll stand up for me, if you'll turn around, place your hands behind your back. Put your hands palm to palm just like you're praying. Yep. Just like that. That way it won't put as much pressure on your wrist. Okay. >> All right. So, you are going to be transported down to Loun County Jail. >> Um, both of the things you're being charged with are both misdemeanors. >> Um, so once you get down there, they should be able to work with you on getting any kind of uh making kind of phone calls you need to make or anything like that. Okay. Give me one second. Double lock tighten down on you. around. >> All right, let me grab your stuff and I will walk you out. Um, >> oh, appreciate you. >> Um, I left the folder of stuff in the uh, She said that's y'all's phone down on the bottom. >> All right, give me one second. Let me pull up this. Uh, >> there we go. All right, y'all have a seat for me. The 19-year-old woman, Mariah Hughes, was charged with theft by shoplifting and theft by taking. Both charges were classified as misdemeanors. Reckless choices show that even small, seemingly harmless acts like manipulating prices or grabbing snacks can spiral into legal trouble. No excuses or remorse only sealed her fate. Even bolder, these suspects turned their crimes into a twisted game of chase and hideand seek. Give up. I give up. I give up. Take off. I GIVE UP. SEE YOUR HANDS NOW. Let me see your hands. >> On October 13th, 2024, police got a tip about two criminals with multiple active warrants committing theft at Target. As they arrived, the suspects were fleeing through a fire exit, sparking an intense, highstakes chase. running back. >> Watch that door. >> Hold on, guys. We're just waiting for those guys to come out. I got it back here now. >> I got I got >> I give up. I give up. >> I GIVE UP. GET DOWN. I GIVE UP. >> I give up. I give up. I give up. >> I got him. I got >> I give up. in the back. >> Hey, give up my >> Instead of offering any excuses, his repeated cries of surrender only confirmed his own wrongdoing. And in reality, he didn't give up. He got caught. Immediately after, police began tracking down the second suspect. >> We still got one female outstanding, don't they? >> She's still outstanding. white jersey. >> Yeah, we got him. >> We got him. >> What you wearing? >> Bring a black top shorts. >> You're taking your eyes with us. Heat. Heat. Sorry for you. All right. >> Okay. >> Thank you, ma'am. Appreciate you. I mean, where could the she gone? If >> despite searching every possible corner, there was no sign of her. At this point, store cameras were put to good use, revealing that the woman was still somewhere inside. >> So, she went right here. >> I wonder if she's hiding at the very top. >> So, right here, this is where she comes out. >> Oh, that nasty. Okay. >> What does she look like? You'll see she's wearing like a black tank top, >> sports bra. I put it like that. And then gray leggings. There she is. And then from here, we got her back here. 249. And she's going to go. If she went this way, she would have gone I would have seen her come this way. Or if she went back this way, I would have seen her come this way. >> She's hiding somewhere on top. Then what angle is that one? >> Which one? >> Like the this one. So, I can go over there cuz I don't have my phone. This one's the back of this. This is where we go through the grocery department. >> We have her only going into that um that storage area where we were all at and not coming out any other way. >> Where the I mean, she got back inside pretty quick. You could say the woman turned it into a game of hide-and-seek. The moment she thought her hiding spot was safe and well concealed, the police discovery of it left her with nowhere to run. Hey, let me see your hands. Let me see your hands now. Let me see your hands. >> Contact with one >> over here. >> Yes. Let me see your hands. >> I know. I'm trying to crawl out. >> You need to crawl out. >> Keep your hands up. >> I'm coming down. >> Sorry. Nah, she was hiding good. Hold on. Damn it. >> Give us one second. >> Look at master finder. >> Called it. >> Yeah, that was pretty good. >> Yeah, my radio's not working. >> Put me to shame. >> I don't know if you guys could, but we have one to take. >> You know what's funny? >> What was she like underneath? >> Was she under underneath? Do >> you have anything in your bra or anything? >> No, I don't. >> Once both were caught, the police continued their process. There was no sign of remorse from the suspects, showing just how accustomed they were to this routine. this. No. Okay. Bro, where's your feet? >> When did you guys come in, bro? >> Did you guys come in a vehicle? send you to that address, >> which homies were giving you the heads up. >> In the end, the male suspect was charged with shoplifting and resisting an officer. He pleaded not guilty and his case is still ongoing. The female suspect faced the same charges, but both were later dismissed by the prosecutor. Even when people think they found a clever way to escape, repeated risky choices and trying to outsmart the system can quickly trap them. Planning shortcuts or ignoring rules rarely ends well. Even more striking, this woman cared more about her love than the crime she committed. >> We had a warrant out of one here. >> Here? >> Yeah. >> That's the only one you know about. >> I don't believe. On February 18th, 2024, officers responded to a report and detained a woman who had stolen here. She was known to have returned just days earlier for a similar act. When confronted, the woman immediately explained her reasons for her actions. >> Okay. So, walk me through what happened with the frames. >> I just took them because we needed money. We have nowhere to live. >> Okay. >> We just live. >> What day did that happen on? >> I just heard the 15th. >> The 15th. Okay. >> And >> so that would have been what? Thursday. Okay. >> So, you don't have an ID in this bag? >> Yes. >> Anything with your name on it? >> No. >> But you have a Washington state ID. >> I haven't got it yet. >> No. You You must have had some kind of ID. >> Cuz here's the thing. I mean, >> unless I can identify you here, I'm going to have to take you to jail cuz then >> they'll identify you through fingerprints, right? >> Yeah. He just keep wanting me to know. >> You don't. >> Okay. What's your last name? >> I'm very flexible. Okay. You don't have to go to jail. >> But you need to tell me the truth. >> Tell me the truth. >> I am going to go to jail. >> The woman tried to lie in vain. But even when caught by the officers, she refused to tell the truth, immediately prompting the police to raise suspicious questions. >> Is it Did you kill somebody? Is it a major warrant with a high bail? I think I don't know. >> I got released and I went to rehab, >> but I didn't check in. >> We didn't check in with >> Oh, okay. >> Cuz my heart >> I got to check 12p. >> I'm going to jail. >> I don't know. >> The phone number for you. >> I'm going to have her search you though. >> Yeah, I'm about an address. >> Who has the keys to the U-Haul? >> You do? Okay. >> I I see what's going on, baby. You know what I'm saying? Sorry, baby. >> I'm not just saying that's it. It happened. You know, it wasn't intentional. I mean, >> I know. I lost car. I had to stay with him. >> You're sleeping in the street. Somebody stole the car and everything. >> Yeah. >> I'm going check. >> I'm staying with him. >> Okay. >> I'm staying with him. My business. >> Yeah. Go ahead and take the take the picture. Got to make sure. No, I'm just saying I've been locked up before. So, >> yeah. >> Usually I go to jail. >> I usually go to jail. >> I don't know. I have to run you first. But she's going to patch you down. >> H. >> Do you have to run? I do. >> But I still like No, I don't. >> You already stole the things, though. >> The woman's tears seemed deceitful as she could appear completely composed immediately afterward. Moreover, according to staff, she seemed quite skilled at handling the situation promptly when confronted. >> Well, she went to try to return it as well. >> So, she loaded bags full. >> We were watching her. Then, she went right to the service desk, passed through the registers. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Um, and we denied that return as well. >> That wasn't No, I didn't. I return. I've never been to my ID. I'm >> sorry. >> I have an ID. I want to go to station. >> Yeah, you did that. >> Yeah. back. >> So, she tried to return >> but was denied. >> Okay. >> Well, he I told him to walk away. >> No. >> Did I miss anything? Do you have anything in your pocket? >> No. You okay? >> No, I'm not. I know it. >> No ID, dishonest, and adept at handling being caught red-handed, the woman showed a high level of professionalism, and she likely had a far longer criminal history than she realized. >> Oh, she got a Federal Noel warrant. >> DUI. >> DWLS3 and DUI. >> Oh, yeah. Uh, >> do you need any statements taken? >> No. I want to know. >> You said you had a warrant out of where I should have went here. >> Here? >> Yeah. >> That's the only one you know about? >> Okay. So, we might have to get that taken care of today. >> I am. >> I better I better take care of it. I'm taking care of it. This is an eye opener. I I don't want to live like this. I don't. Please. >> Right now, we're just checking on that warrant to see if we can or we can't. >> I'm really scared. >> I went too long. My husband was a cop and he passed away suicide a year and a half ago. >> Sorry. >> And I went downhill with my friends. I'm sorry, but I don't have anybody. >> At this point, the woman's tactics escalated, sharing stories about her family to elicit sympathy merely to make herself believe she could plead for some kind of leniency. >> I'm never going to I want to go to jail. Just please. >> Well, the warrant that you have is no bail. That's why we have to take care of it today. >> Where'd he go? >> I think we just went back to the the truck. >> In the in the event that you do need to come back for trial, we would provide the transportation back to Featherway. >> I did not give him a heart. >> Um, >> please. >> Yeah, if he's still here, we can try to track him down. It's no bail on >> Well, do you know what it's for? >> It's just DUI. I mean, it's a very serious crime, but >> No. >> You okay with her? >> You okay if I if he gives a hug to her before they leave? >> Um, yeah, she's petted. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> In reality, her tears were not remorse for her wrongdoing, but regret over being caught and separated from her new boyfriend. So, the officers allowed them a brief farewell before taking her away. Priscilla, what's a good phone number? >> Hey, hey, it's going to be okay. >> It's going to be okay. I promise. >> Um, take you this and then you can call anytime. I don't believe you, right? >> No, never. >> We're going to give Don the bag. Okay. >> So, you'll have your bag when you get off. >> All right. All right. >> Yes. >> Even better for a minute. Okay. We can get better. We can get ourselves together. >> We can get ourselves together. Okay. We can't >> I don't know how to find you. Babe, I don't know how to. In the end, she was charged with retail theft. The lesson is that dishonesty and emotional manipulation only worsen consequences when caught. What do you think about cases like this?
