ain't even >> Why are you arresting me right now? >> What crime did I commit and why am I being detained? >> If I have the money to pay for my mistake cuz I'm basically blind and I didn't see. >> Can you just be serious with me if I ask you something? >> No. Be sure to go ahead. >> Go to jail. Shoplifterss thought escaping the store or even making it home meant they got away with it, but police showed up unexpectedly and crushed that illusion. These are the moments arrogant thieves faced bitter disappointment for their own overconfidence. We are This is Law. Don't forget to like and subscribe. Starting with this woman who had no shortage of excuses. >> I'm visually impaired. So whatever I didn't see, I was a mistake. I don't live out here, ma'am. I'm 6 months pregnant. My whole family to New York. On March 8th, 2024, police received a call from Walmart reporting a person involved in shoplifting. Upon arrival, the suspect had already been taken to the loss prevention office. This was what happened next. >> Hello. I don't worry, man. You pregnant? >> Yes. >> Are you good? You need any medical attention or anything like that? >> No. >> No. Okay. You guys have any complaints? >> Yeah. Okay. Hi. Hi. I'm sorry. >> All the stuff that is not scared that's outside. Okay. >> And what those three cars that you see out here, those are scam. And the other two on this side, that's the stuff that's not scanned. >> Okay. >> Um, let me call Josh cuz he's the one that has the receipt. But it was $522. >> Okay. So, definitely you guys are pressing charges. >> Yeah. >> All right. >> 522. That was the scam. >> Huh? You saying it was 520 to the left? >> Yeah, we went we went through all four of your receipts. All four of them. Nothing was missing. We did it on the computer. We didn't we did it on the app. >> How is that possible? >> The woman was overwhelmed by the accusations made against her. She did not agree with them at all and she even began to use her personal condition as an excuse. >> I scared everything. >> The club's uniform. >> I scared everything to the to the thing. I'm visually impaired. So whatever I didn't see, it's a mistake. >> Yeah. But even if it's a mistake, we this is our policy once the >> But I can pay for everything. >> So like I explained to you, when you go to selfch check out, you are responsible for everything that happens in selfch checkout. >> That's what I'm saying. If it was a mistake, I can pay for everything. Like I'm 6 months pregnant to go and I never ever have a record. Like my record's super clean. That's between you guys. What do you guys want to do? >> Like I can pay for everything right now. No problem. >> So I I have to follow my policy. I'm sorry. There's nothing I could do. >> So we have Yeah, we have to press We have to press charges. There's nothing I can do. >> Pull the cuff in front. >> Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. Can I call my mom or somebody like this is a mistake. This is not This is I can pay for these things. It seemed the woman's blind card no longer worked. But she did not stop there as she immediately pulled out another card called pregnancy. >> I don't live out here, ma'am. I'm 6 months pregnant. My whole family's in New York. I don't have nobody out here. It was a two honest mistake. I never have stolen. I don't have a record. I don't have no type of criminal record. I understand that. But when you go, like I explained to you when you first came in the office, I don't know if you heard me, Walmart is allowed to recharge us over $25. But because we have a a deal with them, we have to >> I know you said $200, but it was a mistake. >> I I get I understand that, but if I don't if I don't follow my policy, I can get in trouble. So I don't I'm covering my back right now. And it's I as much as I can and I want to help and I want to I have to follow my policy because this was called out by one of one of our managers. So I have to do it. What was the uh >> um Josh has the receipt but it was when my last check was 522. >> Okay. I be saying it's 10 for last. >> No, I did the purchases in different like I purchased like I did a cart. I put it away. I put it away in the front desk and I did another cart. So everything wasn't at the same time. >> No. The denial continued relentlessly, but nothing could change the outcome, and the police ultimately made their decision. >> The thing is, you purposely put your hand under the barcode and would scan what you want. I didn't scan what you want. >> I mean, I have it on video. >> Ultimately, they want to press charges. There's nothing much. >> You can explain that to the judge. All right. >> We're not going to have cuff you in the back because you're pregnant. Just put your hands outside. >> Can I call my mother and let her know? I I'll I'll give you I'll allow you to call. >> I don't I don't even know her number by heart. Like I don't even know what I know her by heart. >> Listen to me. Listen to me. All right. >> I didn't do it on purpose. I swear to God, I didn't do it on purpose. I swear. >> You can tell that to the judge. All right. We're just going to process you. Okay. They have video of it. You go to court and you settle with the judge. All right. You can explain them to him that you are legally blind or what not. Do you make a mistake? That's up to you and the court. All right. Right now, you're going to be placing arrest. What the heck? Yo, this is freaking crazy right now, bro. >> Do you have a driver's license or ID? >> Yeah, my So, what happens to the rest of my my food for my family? >> What's going to happen to the rest of >> Questions were raised. If the woman had been blind from birth, why did she not seek assistance and instead chose to use the selfch checkckout while at the same time her cart was quickly determined by police to contain a large amount of items? All right. Who's Who's going to give me the statement? >> Okay. >> So, can you explain to me what happened today? So, I was watching selfch checkout and I noticed that um she would scan an item and then put her hand under the more expensive item covering the barcode and would pass it. >> Okay. >> So, making pretend she's scanning, but then she's like avoiding scanning because she's covering the barcode. >> Okay. So, you sold out to CCTV footage or you were presenting it by >> I saw it by CCTV footage on camera. >> All right. And then what happened? So, um, we paused the transaction. We let a associate go over there, try to help her, basically giving her the chance to fix her wrong, and she continued to do the same thing. Um, she paid for some items, she didn't pay for this these items right here. Um, she passed all the food >> and then that's when I stopped her in the vestibule. I approached her. I told her my name. I told her that I work for Walmart, that I'm an asset protection investigator. There's some stuff in the cart that's not scanned. And I brought her back. >> When confronted about why she did not use a staff checkout, she had her own story, claiming she had been a victim of bullying by others. >> No, bro. No. I already tried, man. >> They're saying that the way I holded it, it looks like I was being sneaky and all this extra [ __ ] >> right? No, they're saying that I can't pay for it. >> That's what I said. >> Why? I'm coming. He said I'm getting right out. I have to >> That's what the officer just said. He said they're going to take me back to Walmart to get my stuff. >> Oh [ __ ] >> Yeah. They just want to put me as that I stole. So now I have to see a judge and come back to Jersey for a freaking case for nothing that I didn't do. This is the woman. >> Yes. >> I don't come over here alone. >> She was ultimately charged with shoplifting. Excuses could not erase accountability actions, not intentions. Ultimately defined the consequences. In the next case, this shoplifter only added more charges to her warrant. for the same stuff you always have when it's time for shoplifting. >> I don't have no >> Let's put on some pants because you're going >> treat you with dignity, you get treated with dignity. >> On May 13th, 2024, police were dispatched to a hotel after receiving a report that a woman wanted for shoplifting was there. This is what happened when the officers arrived on the scene. >> Hey, Miss Lindsay. >> No, you're not Miss Ly. What's your name? My name Baker. What's your date of birth? >> Huh? >> Your date of birth? When's your birthday? >> 1985. Who else says in this room with you? You have an ID. I can see real quick. We're just looking for Miss. That's all. >> I don't have my ID. You don't have any type of photo ID? >> Mm-m. >> Who's his room under? >> Huh? Who's his room under? Uh, it's under my system. >> Okay, here's D. You got warrants for you. Okay, so if you want extra charges and not be truthful, got your picture. >> I ain't got no wants on you. >> I already know it's >> I already know it's you and you weren't born in 2005. So, go ahead and step out. >> I ain't got no wants on you. >> Step out, ma'am. >> Don't go my daughter. That's my daughter. >> Okay, then. Well, then you need to comply with us then. >> I ain't got no wants on you. The woman reportedly sitting inside the room refused to cooperate with the police, forcing them to take decisive action and arrest her. >> I don't have no wants on me. No, I don't. I don't have no wants on me. Stop. I'm not resisting. I don't have yours on me. >> Stop. Stop. Okay. All right. I'm not about to fight. Just let me talk for a second. >> Get your hands behind your back now. I don't have no wants on me. >> Ma'am, do you have an ID? >> Once for what? >> How old ARE YOU? >> OW. You pinching me. >> Who? Ma'am. >> Well, I got a want. >> Who's that? >> I don't have no wants on me. >> For the same stuff, you always have on shoplifting. >> I don't have no fleeing. >> Fleeing from who? >> I didn't flee from nobody. I didn't free from nobody. >> You're out of Chattam County. >> I don't have no one for Chattam County. >> We just looked you up. >> I JUST GOT OUT OF um Has a Hasbro Georgia jail. I promise. >> We just looked you up. >> I don't have I just got out in it, baby. I just got out of Hazville. I don't have no ones. Call Trail. >> I don't have no wants. I just got out of Hazville. You got some you got some um you got some pants we can y can get over. >> I don't really going to get my pants. >> Well, I mean >> you can step through them. Right. That's yours. >> That's what I was talking about. That right there. >> Easy. >> Can I just get my phone? I'll give your phone a minute. Just step through the pants right now. >> I can't I can't I can't fit those. >> You got some mama phone. >> Baby, can you get my phone? I can't fit those pants. You have any shorts or anything? >> I don't have nothing. So, you don't have any bottles? >> No. >> Been here at all? >> No. >> The woman refused to step out for numerous unreasonable reasons, claiming she wasn't wearing pants and even insisting her illness prevented her from complying. >> I can't I can't go nowhere. JUST LET ME GO. I'M ALREADY PATIENT. STOP. I'm Stop. JUST LET ME GO. I'M NOT GOING NOWHERE. >> OKAY. WHERE'S THE >> I'M NOT GOING NOWHERE. I'M TRYING TO LAY. I'M NOT GOING NOWHERE. LET ME GO. >> ALL RIGHT, LET'S WALK. >> I'M NOT GOING NOWHERE. I AM ABOUT TO WALK. STOP. >> LET'S GO. >> LET ME GO. OKAY. SHE DON'T GOT TO HANDLE ME LIKE THAT. >> OH, LET'S GO THEN. You're the one making this way more than it needs to be. >> Give me my phone. >> Give me my phone. >> I I'll grab your phone. >> I don't have Stop. Let me go. You don't have to hold me. Let me go. You don't have to hold me. >> Yeah, we do. It's part of part of the sport. Let me go. Let me go. Put your Let me go. No. No. Let me go. >> I'm going to walk down. >> Just like that. >> Another felony. And you're going to become a sex offender. >> And you going to be listed as a sex offender. That is correct. >> Not her fault. She don't have any clothes. >> She has nothing. >> No. >> No pajamas. Nothing. She been staying in this room for months now. >> Does he pajama >> right there? That might fit her. >> That would fit. Even after being placed into the patrol vehicle, the woman still refused to accept reality and continued to deny everything. >> It's not ours. >> I ain't got no warrant. That's why I just got out of Hansville jail. >> I just got out of Hansville jail. >> What I got a want for? I ain't got no warrant for trying to get you inside the vehicle. What I got a want for? That's what I'm trying to figure out. Our mental health. You can't handle me like that. I will I want to go to the mental health hospital. >> No, ma'am. I >> want to go to the hospital. >> I want to go to the hospital. I'M MENTAL HEALTH. STOP. YOU GUYS ARE go to the me hospital. Go to the hospital. No. The question arose, she had been there for quite some time. So why did she only ask to go to the hospital when police arrived? Shortly after, officers clearly explained their assessment to the suspect's daughter. >> She's got enough sense about her that she can lie to us about her name. She can lie to us about her date of birth. All right. She can act right. >> All right. Let me out of here. No. 26 to 12 access to the keyboard. >> Shut up. >> You telling me to shut up everybody. >> You shut up. >> You talking about mental ass? >> DON'T LET HER GRAB ME ALL TYPE OF WAYS. >> I told you that. >> They going to charge you in SOMETHING ELSE. >> I TOLD YOU don't let the DON'T GRAB ME ALL TYPE OF WAYS. I told you that. YOU WANT SAMMY TO SHUT UP? >> In fact, the woman had been to jail twice. Yet, that didn't seem to concern her as she then used it as justification for refusing to provide her identity. >> Just got out of two jails. I don't come on. Y'all know they drew our fingerprints when we go through there. I just got out. I just got out of hand in county. My sister paid two bars. They have to have contact as a better they want me. They said no. I understand why I'm going back to jail. >> Yo, Polaro officer just s me to jail like a month and a half or two months ago. Right down to Tigga Island. I was going to record that Polo Rock, Florida. She pulled me over and sent me to jail. In the end, the woman was identified as Londa Mincy, and she was charged with obstruction of justice, indecent exposure, property damage, and additional felony charges for providing false information and resisting. Actions driven by denial and defiance only made the situation worse, proving that taking responsibility early could have prevented more severe consequences. Even more astonishing, the man believed he could escape after committing theft. taking off on me. What's wrong with me, man? >> On July 2nd, 2025, police received a report from a dollar store about the reappearance of a suspect who had previously committed shoplifting and had now returned. This was what happened when they arrived at the scene. >> How are you? >> Hi, how are you? >> What's going on? >> I said to call a lot. I have to do because someone is come I know the yesterday someone stealing but today they come again I have to do that >> okay >> so it's so typo so the guy again this guy you can't just steal a lot of things this is today when >> was Uh there is a two around the two. Footage from surveillance cameras showed the suspect carefully selected items to steal, proving the act was fully intentional. Meanwhile, a team of officers quickly stopped a man matching the suspect's description. >> My friend, were you just in the dollar store? >> Huh? >> He just left for whatever he searched. >> Hey, I'm one second, >> man. What the problem is? >> Don't don't don't start that. >> Hey, my boy a bungee cord. >> Where we at? >> Huh? >> Where we at? >> Oh, god. That's why I got him stopped in 4:24. >> What? What? What the problem is? >> I'll explain it to you in a second. Don't >> All right. I'm not I'm not excited, am I? >> You got him by his >> Yeah. No, no, no. Don't don't don't think >> What the problem is? >> The man appeared irritated and confused by what was happening, which only deepened suspicion that he was trying to evade the situation. And his actions that followed seemed to prove exactly that. >> Explain problem. Get off the bike. I'm going to explain the problem. Get off the bike. I'll do this. All right. >> What is the problem, man? >> Get off the bike. Don't give me an attitude, my friend. Do not run. >> You want to go? Come here. >> Take it off on me. What's wrong with me, honey? What is the problem? >> [ __ ] problem. >> What the problem? >> Get on your stomach now. >> WHAT? IT'S A PROBLEM, MAN. >> TURN AROUND. TURN AROUND. TURN AROUND. >> UNDER ARREST. >> FOR WHAT? MAN, >> arrested on nothing, bro. >> What the problem is? >> You're Get Put your hands behind your back. >> What is the problem, man? >> You are under arrest. Put your hand >> Put your hand behind your back. Comply now. For what? >> Reply now. >> I'm going to [ __ ] call. What the [ __ ] is the problem? >> Calm down. >> Thinking around 448. what the problem is. >> Clearly, he could have handled the situation calmly, but his attempt to flee only reinforced that he was afraid of something. At that point, the officers directly stated the charges immediately after he was handcuffed. >> For what? >> All right, you stay there. You are under arrest. >> For what? >> SHOPLIFTING. I DIDN'T STOP NOTHING. >> I'M NOT HAVING this conversation with you. When an officer gives you a lawful command, you do it. >> I just paid for that [ __ ] man. I'm talking about >> Yeah, maybe the day before and the day before that and the day before that on the video. >> They have good video in there. >> She talked to me yesterday. Stay down. >> I'M NOT GOING NOWHERE. >> STAY DOWN. Stay down till we tell you to get up. >> Right. How long that last for? >> How long will that last for? Second. >> Let's get up. We're going >> During the search, officers also discovered illegal substances in his possession. In the end, he was charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, obstruction, possession of drugs, and possession of paraphernalia. Running from a situation only makes things worse. If he had stayed calm and cooperated, the outcome might have been less severe, but his choices turned suspicion into solid evidence against him. Even more chaotic, officers had to deal with two suspects who thought they were above the law. >> Respect for human decency. >> Do you >> YOU THINK YOU'RE ABOVE THE LAW? >> I DON'T. DO YOU WANT TO >> You can't do that. >> I just did. You cannot do that. >> On the 29th of October 2024, police were dispatched to Walmart after a woman refused to leave despite the store wanting to trespass her. Upon contact, the woman's lack of cooperation was immediately evident. >> You about to be out of here. >> You understand? >> But what did I do? >> Because they don't want you here no more. >> Yeah, but what did I do? >> You don't have to do anything. This is private property. >> It's not private property. It is. It is. It is private property. >> They're going to tell you one time or we can take you to jail. It's up to you. Now, what do you want to do? >> All right. First of all, y'all are getting aggressive. >> Are you going to leave or not? >> Eat the wrong one. Eat the wrong one. >> Are you leaving or not? >> You're the wrong one. >> I didn't even do it. >> Why are you arresting me right now? >> Trying to talk to you when you leave. >> Hello. >> Yeah, I need my license. >> Yes. >> Okay, we get just a minute. Right. >> You committed a crime. >> HOLD ON. >> WHAT CRIME DID I COMMIT? And why am I being detained? >> How old are you? Huh? >> How old are you? That's why you're walk, >> ma'am. You're going to be next for obstruction. Now go. YOU'RE GOING TO BE NEXT. YOU'RE GOING TO BE NEXT. >> WALK AWAY. >> YOU'RE GOING TO BE NEXT. >> COME HERE. Come here. >> You Why is your 15 14-year-old daughter driving? >> No. Look, I'm in pain. You want to see my surgery? >> You cannot He cannot drive. Keep walking. Come this way. >> Excuse me. I'm trying to talk to him. >> That's not There's nothing to cop. >> It's fine. It's fine. >> Why am I being detained though? >> You're being arrested. >> For what? >> The warning. >> Congratulations. Put him in my car. But you didn't mean to tell me that. >> I told you that a long time ago. I told you a long time ago. >> It wasn't just like we >> But you didn't want to hear me. >> If they don't want to serve you, they don't want to give you any type of business. They don't have to. >> While the suspect was being escorted, the woman in the blue shirt followed along as her driver's license had been taken by police due to a separate situation. And throughout the walk, she repeatedly pleaded despite knowing the officers were busy handling the case. >> You have to understand, >> no, there's no crime. >> I have surgeries >> and I'm in pain. >> Then she's got a permit. to go to the hospital >> and she needs to get a permit. >> Can you take me to the hospital? >> I can get you a rescue to the hospital. >> No, no ambulance. I don't need an ambulance. I just need to get there first. >> You didn't want to hear me. You wanted to talk me less than me over here. So, this what happens. And this this what this I'm going to the police station. >> Let me get your badge number, sir. >> 2251. >> 1712. >> No, I can only I can't take I'm about to take him to jail. Listen, >> you took my license. >> Yes, cuz I have to give a citation. >> Okay, then give me the citation. You're not driving that car. Only Only she can drive. Only you can drive the car, right? >> Yeah. I know. >> Y'all know exactly what y'all doing. Y'all see this? I hope everyone's getting a good look. >> We could we have some more. >> Yeah, we can do a parade. >> I'm not sure. >> I do. I got to do something to y'all. >> Nobody said you did anything. You just You weren't listening. >> No, you can't tell. >> I can't do Yes, I will. And I I can and I will. >> Stop. Stop. >> I'm going to sue you. I'm >> Sue. What you gonna do? What the >> Listen. >> Why are you here? Come here. Come here. >> Ma'am. Ma'am. >> Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Yes, I can. Come here. Come here. All right. >> The officers struggled to handle two situations at once. And the first suspect made it even more difficult as she soon engaged in actions that escalated the situation into chaos. >> Committing a crime by walking into a Walmart. Acting like I hurt anybody. Did I put my hands? Did I curse anybody out? >> How many times did we ask you to leave? >> Who is we? >> He asked you. He asked you. He >> didn't ask me to leave. He asked me to put the car thing on. >> Nope. We asked you to leave. >> You're not listening. >> I am. You're the one. Turn around. >> Don't sit there and and do this to me. I'm in [ __ ] >> resisting. >> Get out of here. >> Get out of here now. >> I don't care. Get out. Leave. >> I have a son. >> Leave. Leave. Leave. Or you're going to jail. >> Stop. I'm not even putting you on your side. >> You just kicked me IN MY ASS. >> NO, I DIDN'T. >> YO, HELP. >> HELP. >> TURN AROUND. >> OH, put >> Nah, man. They They been too brutal. They just kicked me in my ass for no reason. >> And >> stop moving. Face. >> STAY ON THE CAR. >> GET ON THE CAR. >> Stay in the car. You're literally hurting me. >> Get in the car. >> All right. Do we need to put them on or just put them in the back? >> Just put them in the back >> on other side. You're going to end up [ __ ] >> home. What do they have there? >> Trespassing [ __ ] >> turning back to the other woman, she was reported for shopping while leaving a minor in the car. Upon confrontation, officers immediately focused on safety. >> How is that child? >> How is that child? >> She's 10. >> No. Put her in the back seat. This child needs a a boost. This child needs a a streng you. >> No. This child cannot be driven out here like this. Tell >> you for a minor. >> You can go to jail for that because your baby's in the back seat with no car seat. He's not buckled in. There's a child that's not supposed to be in the front seat. >> On top of that, she couldn't even see the steering wheel. >> Yeah. >> You put the lights to brighten our front. >> It doesn't matter. She's 14. It doesn't matter. >> She's not 14. >> But still, does she have a Does she have a permit? >> Does she have a license? >> Not yet. >> Okay. If you want to do this, we can take everybody out the car, tow your car, and you can figure out how you're going to get home. >> If you guys want to do that, it's fine. >> Go do that. >> Let's go. Give your license. >> Okay. No, no, no. >> Give your license. >> Hold on. >> Give me your license or jail. No, you can't take my license. >> Give me your license. You're going to jail. >> Ma'am, >> hold on. >> It's No, hold on. I'm the police. Give me your license. >> Call him cuz I need Spanish. >> You don't need SP. You speak Spanish. You speak English. Fine. >> This woman switched to speaking Spanish, seemingly to create a language barrier and complicate the officer's work while the initial suspect grew even more agitated. >> What's your name? >> What's your name? >> My friend. >> Why am I trespassing in a Walmart? You guys don't want to answer. You don't want to answer nothing. I I have You don't want to ask answer any questions I have from y'all on why I'm BEING ARRESTED, WHY Y'ALL BEING SO [ __ ] BRUTAL, BUT YOU HAVE THE NERVE TO ASK ME MY NAME. How dare you? You have no respect. >> Look, I'm trying to give you an opportunity so we can explain everything. >> You're not giving me any opportunity. You never gave me an opportunity. You told me to put the card up and I came to you AND I GAVE THE CARD BACK TO YOU AND YOU'RE TELLING ME I'M TRESPASSING. WHAT? WHAT did you say to me when I asked you about the car? What did you say to me? Am I Are you my [ __ ] daddy? Isn't that what you said? >> THAT'S NOT WHAT I SAID. ARE YOU MY [ __ ] DAD? I SAID, WHY ARE YOU TALKING TO ME LIKE YOU'RE MY FATHER? >> LIKE, AND >> I ASKED YOU A VALID QUESTION. >> OKAY. And And what did I say? They don't want you in here. And what did you say? >> WHO IS THEY? >> MANAGEMENT. >> Why didn't management just come up to me and say, "Can't you leave the >> I'm I'm a representative of their staff today and they asked me to do so. And that's what I asked you to do, but you wanted to be >> It's not It's not even It's first of all, it's how you ask somebody. Number one, you can't just come across somebody. You do you have any respect for human decency? >> Do you >> YOU THINK YOU'RE ABOVE THE LAW? >> I DON'T. DO DO YOU WANT TO DO YOU WANT TO continue explain Let me explain. >> Do you? >> It was clear that she considered herself above the law, deliberately refusing to understand the reality and continuing to challenge the officer's leniency. >> When I was in the store, >> we asked her to leave. Who? Who was we? You weren't there when >> I was just there. What are YOU TALKING ABOUT? CAN WE just Can we start over when So, who put your handcuffs? Was it me? >> And I remember asking you and telling you to leave. Management already told us to tell you TO LEAVE, MY FRIEND. >> WHY DO I HAVE to leave? >> Cuz you're cuz you were acting up in the store and they don't want your business. >> Acting up. >> I wasn't there. That's not up to me to start determine. Okay. So, I'm going to give you one chance. Instead of taking you to jail for no reason, how about you provide your name and date of birth? Because if I book you in as John Doe, no one will know you're there. Nobody will know who you are. So, would you like to give me your name and date of birth? >> Why do I have to go? I'm going to jail immediately for >> Yes, you're going to jail immediately. Yeah, if you don't provide your name and date of birth, >> I feel like this is illegal. >> Well, you could fill out. Did you go to law school? >> Yes. >> How old are you? How old are you? >> I don't have to give you that information. >> What law school did you go to? >> I don't have to give I don't have to release. >> Exactly. You didn't go to law school. You're a public police officer, right? >> A public police officer. >> I'm a police officer. Yes. >> That works in the public, right? >> Yes. But the ter is public servant, my friend. >> Exactly. So I don't have to release any of that information to the public. >> What you have when you're when you're detained, you have to give your name, date of birth. When you're accused of a crime, you have to give your name, date of birth. >> Obligated to by who? >> The state of Florida. >> Take me a gentle. >> Okay. >> Turning back to the other woman, this mother would also have to be taken into custody. Yet she remained completely obstinate, making the tension just as intense. >> You're not going to tell us how we're going to do our job. We're not going to do this. >> Give me your ID right now. You want to jail? >> Uh-uh. Okay. >> Don't resist. >> Okay. >> Don't resist. >> No, I'm not resisting. >> Don't resist. Calm down. >> He's taking me to jail for And he's trying to do the same thing as he did to the other kid. No, you can't. >> Don't resist. >> Yes, we can because we're going to jail. >> You can't. What are you arresting me for? >> Contributions a minor. >> Hold on. Hold on. >> Drop. Just put on Put it right here. >> Put it right here. Drop your leave your license too. Hold on. >> Put your license down, too. Please, miss. We're not going to do this back and forth. >> You know why he's trying to arrest me? Cuz I took the video. >> No, that's not why. >> And he said that I was constructing their way. >> Give him your license. >> You can't do that. >> I just did. >> You cannot do that. >> Come on, miss. I'm not going to do this with you. We We tried We tried to ask you many times. >> No, it's fine cuz you're doing an injustice. That's what you're trying to >> First of all, are you done talking? I'll tell you what's going on. >> Okay. >> Are you done? >> Yeah, I'm done. >> All right. So, your child has No, your child has Does your child have pain? >> No, I'm in pain. >> Yeah. >> Hey, you don't listen, too. >> Okay. >> I'm trying to go to the hospital. Yes. I need a medic. >> Yes. >> Have a seat, my friend. Give me your hands. >> I can't give you my hands. How am I giving you my hands? The first suspect was arrested for trespassing, resisting arrest, and obstruction, while the other woman faced charges related to endangering a minor, and obstruction. From this incident, it's clear that defying the law and refusing to cooperate only worsens outcomes. Trying to manipulate situations or exploit leniency not only escalates conflict, but also puts oneself and others at risk, especially when children are involved. Worse, the woman turned her own shoplifting case into a far more complicated situation. I've not done anything wrong. >> Okay. So, >> no, no, look. No. What you're doing is you're accusing me of something. Now, can I tell you something? Please don't. I'm not I'm not I'm not We can walk. We're walking through. >> On September 15th, officers received a report from a Walgreens store stating that they had detained a woman who had been opening merchandise and shoplifting inside the store. This was what happened when officers approached the woman. >> I'm Officer Bana with Farmer Police Department. The reason I'm contacting you is >> employees have seen you unpackaging some stuff and putting stuff in your purse. >> No, I didn't. I'm packing nothing. You can look. >> Okay. Do you have an ID on you, ma'am? >> No, I don't. >> No. >> I've not done anything wrong. >> Okay. So, >> no. No. Look. No. What you're doing is you're accusing me of something. Now, can I tell you something? I've not done any No, I'm not. Listen to you, please, sir. I've not done anything wrong. I'm showing you my back. I've not done No. Listen, please. I have not done anything wrong. What is your name now? >> No, you can tell me to leave the store. Listen, sir. >> Call your No. Call your supervisor. Call your super No. Call >> Put your bag down. No. No. I'm not going to put my bite you. I don't want to fight you. >> I'm not going to fight you. Call your supervisor. >> I'm going to entertain you because the way you're behaving. >> No, please do not. I'm You ask you to call your supervisor. I'm not in any type of way. >> You can ask me to leave the store. No, listen. You can ask No, you do not. You have no right to identify me. You can look in my bag. Although she denied all accusations, she refused to cooperate in resolving the situation. Not stopping there, her resistance led to chaos shortly after. >> I'm not going to fight you. >> I'm not I'm not You are Stop. Stop. You got to grab >> Andrew. Help. >> Ma'am, please. >> Andrew. >> Another person with you. I didn't do anything wrong. You're doing like that. You don't do anything >> wrong. >> Get your hand off of it then. You're not doing anything wrong. That's why I had to. >> You didn't have to. Okay. >> Those are my shoes, by the way. >> I know. They're yours. You walked in like you saw. >> Okay. Do you have any injuries? Yeah, I'm doing medic. >> Okay, where's >> in my head? I can't breathe. >> All right, let's switch. Yeah. >> In fact, this incident did not involve just one woman. Another woman who was unaware that her friend had been detained was also connected. But the moment she appeared, officers immediately took action. >> How did she >> She was taken forever. So, I came to see and then Yeah, I can. >> So, ma'am, go ahead and put your hands behind your back. >> I'm going to detain you for right now. Okay. >> How old are you, ma'am? >> Um, I'm 21. >> Okay. And what's your name? >> Um, Al. >> Al. >> Yeah. Al. >> Okay. >> How long were you in the store? >> I just got here. >> Okay. You want me to take her outside for now and sit her down? >> Yeah. Let me lock these up real quick. >> She just tried to say right now that she doesn't know her, but >> she was asking her about stuff. >> The one here. >> There you go. >> Okay. Yes, right now she's just being detained. We don't know what else to ask her. >> Also, we need to find out what car they came in. >> I didn't come with her. I walked. >> You walked here? >> Yeah, I walked her. >> She was taken forever. >> Have any weapons on you or anything like that? >> No. >> No. Okay, I'm going go ahead and check out. Returning to the initial suspect, after the chaos she created, her information still could not be obtained. Even at this point, she began playing the victim to make things more difficult. >> I got slammed by my face. >> You can't breathe? >> I like some ice. >> Okay. Sorry. >> Do you have any medical conditions we should be concerned about? >> Okay. Ma'am, what's your first name? >> Alison. >> Allison. >> Alise. >> Al i e. >> A l i z. Okay. What's your last name? >> Garcia. >> Okay. What's a good phone number for you? >> I don't know. >> What are you doing? >> What's your name? Can we start off with that? >> What's your name, ma'am? So, Banana did use force. He's in there sweating away. We have two individuals. She's the one that he got into use of force with that other female that showed up. They had like a bit of a miniature conversation in front of us. So, she's actually being detained also. I don't know what crime we have yet, but uh she's complaining of being slammed on her face. >> Okay. >> She was opening food items like chugging milk and had possibly concealed stuff in her purse, had been in the bathroom for like an hour, I think. >> Okay. >> As for the second suspect, she appeared more cooperative with the investigation as she tried to deny any involvement. However, her story was clearly flawed when recounting what had happened. >> You know, it's not illegal to know someone. You know what I mean? But we're just trying to piece everything together. She was committing crimes. >> So, can you just be honest about what your role was here? >> No, I'm serious. I really just got here. Like, I I didn't even see her or nothing until she was arrested. She was taken from me >> and I needed to leave because I knew each other first, you know. >> So, she named >> that doesn't make any sense. >> What do you mean that doesn't make any sense? >> You said you don't know who she is. >> I do know who she is. >> Okay. You know who she is? >> Yes. And how did she get your purse? >> Um, from the house. >> So, so give me give me the full story. >> I came with this whole girl that was right there just now. Like, I didn't even walk in with her or nothing. >> You came with the guy in the blue shirt? >> Yes. What's his name? And I don't know is not the correct answer. >> Literally just met him. I literally just met him. Like I don't know. >> Okay. So that was it. Listen, I'm a reasonable guy. I don't like to >> Okay. Why? I have no reason to lie, though. >> But this happened. >> If she wanted to do her thing, she could do her thing, but she wanted to grow my purse and that was it. And you're going shopping with some random dude that's tweaked out of his mind and has tattoos all over his face and you don't know his name. >> No, I don't. I just walked with him from the house. I was >> there other people that live in the house and hang out with him. >> Did she ask? >> Did she ask to borrow your purse at the house or >> at the house? >> Okay. So, she asked to borrow your purse at the house and what was her need for borrowing your purse? >> I don't know. She wanted to borrow my purse. I don't know what she wanted to do. That's what it was. And then so were you waiting outside of the store or >> No, I was in I was in the store. >> You're in the store? >> And then looking for her. >> According to the investigation, this woman was also tied to an outstanding warrant related to a traffic violation, making her arrest unavoidable. But more surprisingly, officers even discovered that she had enough money to pay for the items instead of stealing. >> I don't have like moneywise. >> Yeah. >> Um yeah, I had money. I had money in like a EBT card in the purse. Can you buy makeup stuff if they need me to? >> No, within for the milk. And then I have a a a Vinmo card to purchase the makeup. >> Where's the Venmo card? >> In my friend's purse. >> I don't believe there's a Venmo card >> there. It's in very front pocket. >> Okay, I'll I'll check on that. How much do you think the merchandise like how much is on that Venmo card? >> Um, a few hundred, but I only I saw Can you get the pair out of my mouth? Like I didn't think there was anywhere near $100 in makeup. Even >> $500. I'm just going to take a picture of you. Okay. If you wouldn't mind just like showing your your lipstick a little. >> Is the animal card in your name? >> No, it's my friend Max. >> Your friend Matt? Okay. And that was in the purse. >> Yeah. >> But the purse belongs to >> Yeah. >> What's her face? >> Yeah. >> What's her name again? >> It's I I just call her B. I don't I don't um her name is I don't know her name. >> Okay, got it. I'll look into that. There's still a bunch of other felonies. >> Okay. >> So, shoplifting, I don't know. You don't contest all that stuff in court, but try and take my taser, headbutting me, you know, it's nothing personal. I'm not upset about it, but you know, it's a crime. We're going to go in. Um we're going to do things peacefully. If you run and you try to fight me, it's not going to end well for you. >> No. Why would I do that? I'm already in cuffs. >> Well, you tried to run away from us when you're in cuffs. >> Well, that's cuz I thought that um had a chance of not going to jail. >> Tiffany Pope was charged with felony shoplifting, lararseny over $500, battery upon a peace officer, disarming a peace officer, concealing identity, resisting arrest, and was also booked on two outstanding felony warrants. Trying to deny obvious wrongdoing while refusing to cooperate only made the situation worse. Honesty and compliance could have prevented the escalation and additional serious charges. Next, the man made a foolish decision because he was too tired. >> I was walking home and my leg started to get really tired and I seen the bike and I didn't want to walk anymore. So, >> no, be straight overhead. Am I going to go to jail? On April 14th, 2025, officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a residential burglary. What made it more striking was that the suspect behind it was a young man. As soon as they arrived, the witness provided a clear description of the suspect. >> He was a tall, skinny kind of guy. >> White guy. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Did he have a shirt on? >> Yeah, he had like a flowery shirt, I think it was. And a backpack. >> A flowery shirt. Like a Hawaiian one. >> Yeah, kind of like >> pink, white, blue. >> All colors. Mix colors. It looks like look like I couldn't I didn't really pay much attention to what he's wearing. I just watching him cuz I even came out and watched him walk all the way down the street. >> Okay. A little taller than me or >> No, he's probably tall as you. >> Okay. >> He's a tall skinny guy. >> How old do you think? >> Uh he's probably his late 20s, I would say. >> Any uh distinguishing marks right now? Anything like that? >> Shoes, shorts in the house. He's long pants. And they look like they're like baggy pants >> like I'm wearing. And I said I even talked to him. I said I said I said, "Man, this guy's walking in there and he's looking and you know um they buy and sell tools, you know." And so I thought the guy might, you know, he might have been looking at the bike cuz he went down there >> and all of a sudden he's riding a bike. I said, "No, he's riding a bike." I said, "Maybe maybe Bob is selling a bike." >> Yeah. So, I didn't pay no attention to it. And then until he rode out of here, I said, "I'm going to go down there and see if he sold the bike." >> Yeah. What color? Uh the backpack, you know? >> Uh damn. I'm not even sure. The backpack, the flowery color, >> I didn't really pay much attention to the >> beard. I was in the house. I didn't see no beard. >> Shortly after, officers approached the victim and determined what had been stolen. >> What's this called? A Cannondale Blake. >> Yes. It's a Black Mountain bike. >> Yeah. He leaves it open because he goes and plays pickle ball and then I go for my bike ride and it was a little cold this morning so I didn't go as early. I close it when I leave. >> Okay. Um, so where was it sitting? Exactly. >> Right there where that empty space is now. >> I'm surprised you didn't want this. Oh, I guess >> Well, those are electric and the batteries are in the house. >> Yeah. >> So, this right here would be a batch to pedal. >> So, it's sitting here. So, you wouldn't have had to grab anything or touch anything, right? >> Okay. All right. >> No, there was nothing nothing on. >> And what time did you leave? >> And the bike was here. >> I just left about like 8:30, 8:40. >> Okay. >> And that's when Jim was ringing my doorbell and I didn't hear it and I was going out the garage and he scared the crap out of me and that's when he told me and I took off. I didn't know what I was going to do if I found him, but >> Yeah. Yeah. And what time's your uh husband usually? >> Oh, he left at 6:45. Oh, so it couldn't Oh, well, Jim called like at 8:30, >> but Jim seen him come in. >> Yeah, he saw him come in around 8:30ish. >> Where does Jim? >> I already talked to Jim, I guess. >> Just about 2 hours later, based on the description they had gathered, officers approached the suspect who seemed completely unaware of what was about to happen to him. >> We need to talk to you. >> Hi, Ros. How you doing, man? >> Good. How are you? >> Good. Deputy Smith, how are you doing today? >> My name is William. >> Oh, William. Yeah. >> Let me uh I got to get my my passenger. >> How you doing today, William? >> Pretty good. >> You work there? >> Uh, no, I do not. >> Oh, I was going to say you look a little young. How old are you? >> Oh, I'm 18. >> You're 18? You just turned 18? >> Uh, no. >> No. No weapons or anything on you? >> No, sir. >> All right. >> Did he get any identification from you yet? >> Uh, no. I don't believe so. >> Okay, buddy. >> What's your uh William, right? Yes. >> What's your last name, bud? >> Where you coming from today? Um, I'm actually just coming from home. >> Home? Where do you live? >> Uh, I live like right down the street here. >> What's the address? Who lives there with you? >> Uh, it's my grandma and my two aunts. My mom is two sisters, technically. >> How old are you? >> I'm 18. >> 18? >> Yes, sir. >> Perfect. >> All right, boss. So, this is what I want to do. Okay. >> Yeah, >> cuz I I just want to do Yeah. >> So, Okay. >> This is a very nice bike you have. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, a bike just like that just got taken. So, I want to make sure that's your bike. Okay. So, I'm just going to read your Miranda right cuz you have the same bike. >> Officers attempted to make the suspect feel at ease so they could then proceed to obtain a statement about what had happened. >> All right. So, where are you coming from? >> Uh my house. >> Your house. What time did you wake up? >> Uh about 8:00 this morning. >> 8 this morning. Okay. And what did you do? I >> hung at home and then I was like, you know, I'm kind of thirsty. Looked in the fridge. There was only milk. So, I came here. >> Okay. And I'm here getting these. >> Okay. And how long have you had this bike for? >> I've had it for about a week. >> A week. Where'd you buy it? >> Gavin Simons. >> Gavin Simons. >> Yeah. He goes to my school. >> Oh, okay. So, okay. >> All right. >> I seen it on Facebook Marketplace and I was like, "Oh, okay." >> Really? Do you still have that? Do you have a phone or anything on you? >> I do have my phone on me, but the post isn't there. >> Okay. Was it Would it be It'd be in your marketplace sold if you went up there. You contacted them on Facebook, I take it. >> Oh, no. We go to the same school together. >> Oh, so you texted him? >> Oh, no. We like have a class together and he's like, "Hey, you want to buy this bike off of me?" And he was just like, "Hey, look at this." I'm like, "Okay, >> okay." >> Okay, sure. Why not? >> And how much you buy it for? >> About 800 bucks. >> 800 bucks. What do you do for work? >> Well, currently I'm unemployed, but I used to work at the news lodge. >> Oh, really? >> Yeah. >> You saved up a lot of money, I take it. >> Yeah. I actually have more in my savings account. My mom would kill me. >> Oh, okay. Does she have access to your bank accounts? >> Yes, she does. >> Okay. And so you said Gavin, right? >> Yeah. >> Do you have a phone number for Gavin? >> Yeah, I do. >> So I could verify that? >> Yeah. >> Officers attempted to contact the number the suspect provided, but received no response, which immediately raised suspicion. That suspicion only deepened as his story began to change when officers questioned him again. >> Where have you been at this morning so far? What you been up to? >> Um, I wrote down by Eva Angel down up. I think it's Sper. I think that's the street name. Like further which way? >> Uh further that way by the way. >> Okay. Close to the school. >> Yeah, >> it's probably what it was. Yeah. Yeah. >> So basically just ride around getting some sun >> pretty much. >> Okay. >> I was going to go see if I can hang out with a friend named Zay, but he be he was at home or at least I don't think he was going. >> Man, on the day that you're sick, you're taken away from school. >> I don't just want to sit at home and like be sick. >> Yeah. >> Go to school. You only got a couple more days. to look back on this back in the day, >> man. >> Like, man, I wish I was in school. >> Where do you live? >> Oh, right down the street. >> There's a lot of streets. >> Yeah. >> It seemed the leniency had gone far enough as officers quickly got straight to the point, applying pressure to push the suspect into admitting the truth. For >> your sake, just please tell the truth. >> I know. >> Because we already know the truth. We wouldn't be here if we didn't. >> They're literally looking for that exact bike right now. That bike aftermarket thing that's on the handlebars. >> It was just taken an hour ago. >> You really want to put that on your on your parents? >> Like this is your moment to be truthful, right? >> But this could also be your moment. I put a breast in and be scared for life. But if you if listen, if you want to be a Navy, I got fan members that are in the military. All right? I can tell you one thing. One thing you got to man up and tell the truth. All right? You got to own up to your mistakes also. And you think that's the step for you to start lying now. >> I was walking home from school. No, I was walking home. My legs started getting tired. So I was like, you know, it's going to be kind of >> There's been a lot of them around here. They've been taken. Do you know anything about that? >> This is the first one. >> You know anybody that's been taken them? >> No, sir. >> Cuz there's been a lot. >> I know there's this I know a trail near my house. There's a bunch of bites just laying down inside of it, but it looks like a homeless suit just lived in there. >> He could have been the one taken just dump. >> I have no idea. is the one that goes through the the park that comes out by St. Cassid. >> Uh no, it's not that one. It's one by um the churches on Gulf Stream. >> Yeah. Like if you go to that next street and you go down that street, the trails on that street. >> He attempted to come up with a story to explain the reason behind his actions, but under pressure from the officers, he began to feel remorse and confessed everything. and my leg started to get really tired and I've seen the bike and I didn't want to walk anymore. So like yes, I can admit to you guys I did take it with no bad intention, no bad intention to break it, nothing like that at all. I just wanted to get back home. I came here, stopped by this, I was heading home. >> Where did you end up taking it home? >> Um it was um I don't know what street it is. It's like in a community. It's uh um >> describe the house. >> Ask me something. Can you be for real with me? >> With what? >> Like, can you just be serious with me if I ask you something? >> No, be straight up. Go ahead. >> I need to go to jail. >> This is definitely an arrestable offense. Um could be going to jail. I know that you're going to go speak to the detectives and they're going to decide from there, >> sir. That's why I don't want to say you are or you're not and next you know they decide not to. That's up to them. All right. But when it comes to stuff like this where we've had an uh spree of burglaries, especially when it comes to uh bicycles, we want to make sure that get interviewed and spoken to and go from there. All right. And that's why I'm telling you just be straight up with them. Step over here for me. He was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling and grand theft of property valued between $750 and $5,000. A single impulsive decision combined with dishonesty can quickly escalate a minor situation into serious criminal charges. Owning up early and making better choices could prevent lifealtering consequences. What do you think about cases like this? Share your thoughts in the comments. So, mom did something that she wasn't supposed to do. What does that have to do with you stealing stuff and setting a terrible example for your son? >> Ma'am, you don't have to tell me I'm being a mother. I understand. >> On August 9th, 2024, police were dispatched to Target after a report of suspicious shopping. CCTV footage showed the woman calmly roaming the aisles, then slipping into a secluded spot to swap price tags, even in front of her own child. At checkout, she scanned only five of 12 items. Ultimately, loss prevention stopped her. At the scene, officers quickly separated mother and child for individual questioning. >> Hi, what's your name? My name's Deputy Rainy. Can I talk to you outside real quick? >> Okay. You have to talk to him about >> Do you know why you and mom are sitting in there? >> Why? >> You don't know? So, mom did something that she wasn't supposed to do. >> Now, before we talk, I'm just going to read you something. Okay. Do you know why you're in here? >> Yes. >> Where'd you get that soda from? >> I got it from the fridge. >> My name is Deputy Far County Sheriff's Office. Right. Anything you say can be used against you in the court of law. >> Okay. And did mom mom or dad buy it at the store? >> Um I don't know if she buys it. >> Okay. So when you get something when you come to a store like this and you put stuff in your shopping cart, what are you supposed to do once you put it all in your cart? >> I >> You didn't do anything wrong. Just so you know, you're not in >> trouble. Soda. I put the soda next to her, but she forgot it was mine. >> The woman exploited the innocence of her own family to commit the wrongdoing. Ry raising the question, what drives such reckless and irresponsible behavior? >> Okay, so what is going on tonight? Honestly goes a long way. >> Going through divorce, just don't have any money. Didn't know what to do. >> Okay, so they have obviously they have camera footage of everything. >> They have been living in a house with no water. >> Okay. >> Nothing. >> Do you still have this on you? >> No, I don't have that on me. >> No. >> No. >> So they have you on on on camera swapping tags, price tags? Yeah. and stuff like that. Okay. So, the total amount that you should have paid was over $200. >> $200 for what? >> This what they're scanning right now is at $189. What you >> Why? >> Well, just alone that Lego set it was almost $100. >> Oh my god. You figured. >> Okay. >> But when you come and and you take when you go Did you ever go Have you ever been to the store with your mom before? And she puts everything in the car and then you go and then you pay for it, right? She's not paying for stuff that she's supposed to be paying for, which is stealing. CCTV captured the full checkout showing the total should have been $26848. Yet she scanned only $19.50. Everything was clear. She still stubbornly denied that truth. >> Clothing and stuff. One of the one of the pants was like 2530 bucks and you put a new tag on it. >> How were you putting the tags on them? >> I didn't put those tags on that. They were hanging in the clearance aisle. >> Okay. >> I bought them. Yeah. >> You didn't take any of the tags off the pants? >> No. >> What tags did you switch? the video. I'm in the clearance aisle the whole time. >> What tags did you swap then? >> Just the um sticky ones. >> Okay. How many items did you swap? >> Um a folder, the Lego set. I told him that the folder, the Lego set, and and nothing. And then a bag didn't have a tag. >> Okay, >> that's it. I'm not sure what the price violate me, guys. Please. >> So, I can't go to jail. You guys don't understand. >> I don't want to go to jail. Well, we don't we we don't want her to, but the store wants her to be arrested for taking the things that she shouldn't have, and she knows better, and she'll probably tell you that, but unfortunately, she has to go to jail tonight. Okay. >> Clearly, her family didn't deserve to go through this. Next, the conversation with police only exposed her total irresponsibility as a parent. She showed no real concern for anything at all. >> Excited to go back to school? >> Why not? Well, you know what you're supposed to do if somebody bullies you, right? >> Tell nobody cares. >> That's not true. That's not true. We don't like that. You know, we have deputies in every school, right? You tell a deputy, you tell that person to stop to leave you alone. And then you tell a teacher or you tell this the school deputy because they don't tolerate that. Okay? That's not nice and that shouldn't be happening to you cuz you're a nice boy, right? That shouldn't be happening to you. People shouldn't be mean to you. People should Nobody should be mean to each other, right? >> Cuz they only bully me. >> Why do they bully you? What do they say? >> Say I'm fat. >> You are not fat. >> I know that. >> That's mean, right? That's real mean. But you know what? You're going down to school now. So maybe you make new friends and you won't have that problem. But if you do, if somebody's mean to you, you tell them to stop it and you tell a teacher or you tell this, you tell any adult, you tell your mom, you tell your dad, you tell your grandfather, you tell anybody. So, just so you understand what's going on, they they might not have pursued charges, but she's done this multiple times in this store. >> In this store? >> Yes. >> I don't understand. I gave her money to go get sleep aids and tea. I'm like, go to Dollar General. >> She's been doing this apparently. >> She didn't know soda. >> It has not it has nothing to do with your soda, buddy. Okay. But and grandpa will explain everything to you. Her grandfather believed he was still supporting her financially. Yet, she went ahead with the act anyway. Worse, she showed no sign of learning from the experience, ignoring all advice from the police. Why do you keep stealing? Your dad just said he gave you money. >> He did. He gave me $28. And then I just came here to see if they had my mom's sleep aid here. >> Why did you steal? >> Because I've been locked in my house for 9 years with a husband who controlled me. >> What does that have to do with you stealing stuff? to have money or anything. >> What does that have to do with you stealing stuff and setting a terrible example for your son? >> Ma'am, you don't have to tell me how to be a mother. I understand. >> Not telling you how to be a mother. I said you're setting a bad example. >> Mistake. I understand >> multiple times. >> Yes, you're right. You're 100% right. >> Thank you for admitting it. And I hope you didn't tell your son that you forgot to pay for it. >> I didn't tell him that. >> Okay. And you're really giving your husband I don't know what's going on with your divorce. You said you were going through a divorce. You're giving him ammunition against you to get possibly get your kids taken away from you. And your dad just said that you just got released for this. So the judge and I just got released because I tapped a car and they violated me. >> Okay. Well, you're on probation and they guarantee you that the judge is probably going to violate you and now you're stuck in jail. Why did you open up the wrapping if you weren't stealing? >> I didn't I ripped it in half and I threw the other half. >> Why? >> Why not? Who cares? I don't get it. >> Why would you destroy the packaging? >> Why would you destroy the packaging? So, you're setting an example for your son that he can walk around the store and just rip and open the packaging. >> I don't know if you heard what your dad said, but he says he doesn't want to go to stores with you cuz he doesn't trust that you're not going to steal anything. >> The woman, both an irresponsible mother and an untrustworthy daughter, felt no shame for who she was. The shock didn't end there. Police soon began uncovering items from her bag. They got more money in here. >> Carpet. >> What's in it? >> THC. >> That's a felony. No, I have a med car. >> Where is it? >> It's not on me, but you can look up my name on it. >> When you have something like that, you're required to have it with you. Can you know that? >> I didn't know that, actually, cuz my ID always works in the dispensary. I don't have to bring my vet card. I can bring my ID because they can look it up. But once you get it, you are legally required to have that at all times. >> Yeah, I know. Pop sockets in there. >> So why did you lie about it? Cuz I felt stupid. >> Cuz you were like, "Oh, I have stupid." >> You know, you can lose your medical marijuana license for not abiding by their laws, right? You should know that. It's your responsibility to know that. >> Just like having a driver's license. >> Why are you so mean to you? >> I'm not being mean. I'm being blunt and honest. mean. >> Just because you don't like what I'm saying doesn't mean it's mean. I'm being me. It's a It's a statement of fact. It's your responsibility. >> I get it. >> I'm not being mean. I said it's your responsib. The woman was charged with shoplifting items valued between $100 and $749 and scheming to defraud under $749. Even when given support and guidance, reckless choices, and repeated dishonesty lead only to consequences. Ignoring advice and exploiting others trust sets a dangerous example for those who look up to you. >> You're going to go to jail. >> No, please. No, sir. >> Well, you got to learn it. You got to learn your lesson. >> So, how am I going to lose my son? I don't Well, you say he's with her sister. So, >> on December 27th, officers received a report from a Walmart about a shoplifting incident that had occurred. The suspect was identified as a woman who secretly switched price tags on several items. And upon arriving at the scene, officers reviewed every action she took alongside the store's loss prevention staff. The >> person you already have the register pulled up or what? >> Yeah. So, whatever brings up is a pair of leggings. That's >> probably that big toy or what? Fisher Price or something. >> She looked right at us. >> Look right at the camera. >> It's in her the stickers and >> that yellow one. >> Yeah. >> Grandpa's leggings. >> Yeah, it came out as a girl swimwear, but it's for a dollar. >> They look like more than one item. >> Yeah, it rung up to two items. She think switch that one, too. >> She switched that one. Yeah, it's a you know those glory cameras. >> Uhhuh. >> It came up as a tape memory. >> Well, that one right there is $24 or $28.96. That one right there. Yep. Yep. So, she's over Oh, she she didn't pay for that one either. >> She's going to jail. >> Oh, yeah. It's going to be way over over $20. >> It's going to make us run. Nope. Nah, she's chilling. >> At the very moment the woman believed she had successfully made it out of the store, she was stopped. >> So came up with this one. You didn't even scan this. This one came up as swimmer. This is $26, but I didn't switch it. >> Let's go inside the inside the office. >> I'll pay for it. See, you had already crossed the final point of sale. So, and I saw you >> go and have a seat over there on the bench. >> I saw you >> have a seat on the bench right there. >> I promise you. I didn't know I could pay for it right now. I have the money. >> Go and put your hands on your back. >> Okay. I have the money though, sir. >> Okay. I already gave you three commands >> and you're not listening, right? >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry about that. But I have the money and I'm not getting >> I saw you pull out the tag and you put >> Okay. Put your other hand behind your back. I know, but I can pay for it. >> I'm going to put this money in your front pocket. >> I can pay for it, though. >> Have a seat. >> Can we just It's just >> sit down. >> Do you have your receipt? >> Yeah. >> Based on the woman's reaction, she could not deny her actions. But the reason she gave committing the wrongdoing was far more absurd. >> So, what's going on? Why Why are we stealing today? cuz it was Christmas and I wanted to get my son something. >> Okay. Where's your Where's your son at right now? >> He was over there with my sister right now. >> She's with your sister. Okay. How old is your son? >> He's just one. It was his first Christmas, you know, and I'm sorry. >> Are you working? >> No, I'm not right now, but I'm going to start school tomorrow. And I just I was just trying to do something for him because I felt so bad, but I could pay for it. I >> So, you commit a crime. Did you do something good for somebody? I mean, it's not I wasn't trying to do it on purpose, you know, like >> Well, you did do it on purpose. >> I understand, sir. >> You put tags on there when there weren't there. >> I'm sorry. It was just trying. >> So, what what items did you not pay for this jacket? Is there anything else? >> No, I don't I didn't know. I didn't check anything else. It was the that little toy right there. >> There's more than that. >> I can't get my receipt. >> Where's it at? >> I'm pretty sure it's in my pocket. >> Can I pull it out of there? >> It's not in that one. It's not in that one, sir. >> Where's your ID at? >> I don't have an ID. >> You don't have an ID? How come you don't have an ID? >> Cuz it's in the car. >> Are you here with somebody in the car? >> No. >> You're by yourself? >> I think I officer >> one by name and do >> and I won't come back, sir. Like, I promise. >> We'll get to that. We'll get to that. The woman offered excuses only to lessen the weight of her guilt, but in reality, she was still lying about several things, which the officers quickly discovered. >> How'd you get here right now? >> I drove. >> You drove? Where's your keys at? >> I don't. Well, I mean, I came with somebody. >> So, you're lying to me now? >> I'm not lying to you. You was saying >> cuz I asked you that earlier and you lied to me. >> That's how many times have you lied to me? I'm just nervous. >> I get it. But you've you How many times have you lied to me already? >> I guess cuz I'm nervous. I don't want to go to jail. I have to >> Well, here's the thing. When somebody's somebody >> Listen, let me say something, okay? When people aren't truthful, do they get breaks? They don't get breaks, right? They end up going to jail. That's why I'm asking you that. I'm giving you a chance. That's why I asked you again. Hey, you initially lied again and then >> because I'm just really nervous, but I need to pick up my son. >> Well, you're under wrestling now for shoplifting. Okay, >> you're going to go to jail. >> No, please don't, sir. >> I You got to learn it. You got to learn your lesson. >> I swear I can pay for it. You got to learn your lesson. >> I can pay for it, sir. Like, I have the money. >> Please, I won't ever come back here ever again. I was just trying to do it for myself. >> I'm going to tell you something. I was just trying to miss Garcia. When you lie to me one break, I won't lie to you about anything. I can give you information, something please, sir. >> No, you're not an informant. I'm not not asking you about stuff like that. >> Her remorse seemed to have come far too late. And her desperate begging showed no sign of stopping as she even began dragging her family into it. >> Please don't let my son back. Please, please. >> Well, you'll be out tomorrow. >> I won't. Why not? >> Why won't you be out tomorrow? >> No, please. >> Well, you shouldn't be stealing. >> I wasn't trying to steal. I was just >> Here's the thing. At this at this Walmart, please don't make >> Let me I'm going to tell you something, okay? At this Walmart, you steal, you're going to go to jail, right? >> But I'm telling you, I >> That's what we get That's what we get paid to do. >> Doors, though. I didn't walk out the doors. I can still pay for it. Sir, please give me a chance. If you would have paid for it, you would have paid for it earlier. >> I know, sir, but I just I was just trying to save some money. Like, please sir, I'll pay for it. I can pay for it right now. All of it. I can pay for everything. >> It doesn't work that way. >> But why if I have >> It's like if if somebody said, "Well, I don't want I didn't I'll let him live." No, doesn't work that way. >> Out the door, sir. Please give me some mercies. >> You pass when you pass the point of sales. That's those like scanner bars right there. >> Walked out the door, sir. >> You don't have to. All you got to do is pass right there. >> Please, sir. Just give me a chance. Please. I can pay for it. Just >> In reality, not a single tear was shed. At that moment, the officer bluntly laid out the outcome she was about to face. >> Well, here's the thing. You are going to go to jail. Okay. >> But listen, >> go to jail. >> Here's the thing. Listen. If you stop all the drama. >> I don't want to go to jail. Sir, please. I have to pick up my son right now. >> Yeah, that's not going to happen. >> So, how am I going to Who's going to get my son? I don't. >> Well, you said she's with her sister. So, >> I don't have nobody to call. She has to go to work tomorrow. >> Okay. Do you want to call her? >> I don't know her number by memory. >> You probably have it in your phone. >> It doesn't work. That phone doesn't work. What's wrong with it? >> It I was trying to sell it at the ATM. It doesn't turn on its Google lock. >> So, this isn't your phone or >> It is my phone. It's just Google lock. I don't remember the Google to it. >> Okay. >> Please, sir, just give me one break. I'm begging you to do anything. Please. I just need to pick up my son. I know I shouldn't have been doing that. You're right. And I was just desperate because my son hasn't had a Christmas and I felt so bad. I thought maybe if I got him a toy like like times have just been really hard. I like don't have like nowhere to be and I'm trying my hardest to maintain my son like >> well there's three items. The jacket for $25.98 a Fisher price that push toy is $28.96 and then you have an insta camera it's pretty expensive 92.48 48 that Insta camera >> but I couldn't pay for it. >> That totaled out to 14742. >> I could pay for it. >> Even at this point, the woman still had not realized the seriousness of her actions. And she even continued to believe she had done nothing wrong despite the explanations. >> Pay for it, sir. I >> You can go to some other place and buy that stuff, >> please. >> But you're not going to buy it from here right now. >> Doesn't work that way. Here's the thing. When you steal from Walmart, they don't let you pay for the stuff. >> Okay. >> Doesn't work that way. >> But I didn't take it. I didn't walk out the doors. >> You don't have to walk out those doors. Maybe you pass those scanners. >> But I didn't leave the premises. >> Okay. Get an attorney and tell the attorney that you're I'm telling you that you don't have to go out the front doors. You don't have to. >> Once you pass the points of sale, which is over there, And right here, that's it. >> Listen, what did I already tell you? You >> said you would help me. >> You're trying to give me all these excuses. >> Not an excuse. >> And no. And And that's BS. All right. >> I have to get my son. >> Yeah, you I doubt it. >> You don't doubt it. I have to >> What's the number? I don't >> What's the address? Where's your son at? >> I don't know the address. >> Yeah. See, that doesn't fly. >> The address by memory cuz she keeps moving. So you're so she must be able to take care of him then? >> She's 30 something. She's 39. Her name is Victoria Deago. My my >> So you don't know where your son's at right now? >> I do know where he's at. I just can't tell you the exact street cuz I don't know my streets by memory, but I can tell you >> I've never known. >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft. Breaking the law to justify a good intention only leads to worse consequences. Because once trust is lost and the crime is committed, regret and excuses cannot change the outcome. Worse, this lying shoplifter even tested the officer's seriousness. >> What's it for? >> I don't have no warrant. >> I'm telling you you have a warrant. I'm not even asking you at the point. I'm telling you you have a warrant. On May 2nd, 2024, police were dispatched to a Walgreens after reports that a woman had stolen six gallons of bleach and laundry detergent before fleeing without paying. As officers approached, it seemed a getaway had indeed taken place. Her heavy breathing made it easy to tell. >> I'm over here. I'm stopping you real quick. >> Okay. Where'd you get all this stuff? >> Be honest. to the store all the way at Pizza. >> You just left the store. Just give me the stuff back so I can take it back to him. >> All right. >> All right. We not going to go through all this. >> All right. Take >> Give me a second. No, stay right there real quick. 2662. Do we have another unit a Oh, never mind. Uh 2282 is here. All right. Where are you from? >> Why? >> Please take off your bag for me real quick. >> Is there anything in your pouch? >> Okay. >> The woman easily admitted what she had done, showing no attempt to deny it. But things soon took a turn when the officers began asking for her ID. >> ID on you. I'd ra you have some sort of ID. I'd rather you have an ID. If not, I have to take you in and process you. >> I don't have nothing. >> So, no. I state ID something. >> I don't have nothing. >> Okay. Go ahead. Put that Put that down for me. I just don't like people holding [ __ ] Is there anything? Can you open the back pouch for me? Just so I don't got to search you and all that other stuff. That's cool, homie. Don't get about none of that other stuff. All right. That's there. Let's see your wallet. There's no ID in here. is what you tell me. >> So when I ask you for ID while out, I'm trying to actually get you out of the [ __ ] So this is obstruction of identification. This is arrestable because I asked you for your ID cuz you're caught in a commission of a misdemeanor already. Now that's two charges rather than me trying to just let you slide. Why lie? And soon after, officers discovered the reason behind her attempt to hide her identity. Badly, she knew exactly what stage she was in. Yet, she still chose to make the wrong move. >> You on probation? >> I'm trying to I'm literally trying to let you slide and you just keep lying to me for some Go ahead. You have a warrant, anything? >> No. Janisha is revoked out of Chicago born in 89 is also showing a serviceable warrant. Actually disregard that. So it is good county for serviceable warrant. Do >> you have a warrant? What's it for? >> I don't have no warrant. >> I'm telling you you have a warrant. I'm not even asking you at the point. I'm telling you you have a warrant. They just told me you got a warrant right now. >> What? >> Uh it's service out of Cook County for something. That's why I'm asking you cuz there's difference between warrants with the new >> I have a warrant. >> You're you're trying to tell me something that I'm literally telling you is on physical systems and paper that they just told me. They said you your name and birthday by physical thing and you have a warrant >> for what? >> Stand up. Put your hands behind your back. >> That [ __ ] crazy, man. Crazy, man. >> Don't damn >> what? We'll come back and get some stuff in a minute. Walk over this way. >> Showing no hint of remorse, the woman revealed all the worst in her. A thief who was also a liar and to make matters worse, a fugitive. >> What I got a warrant for? >> I'm about to tell you. They didn't tell me. >> Come on, man. Let me go, bro. Let me go, bro. >> Are you serious? >> Let me go, bro. >> Are you serious? >> Bend your arm or I'll bend it for you. >> Let me go, bro. >> Let me go. >> All right. This is the last time I'm going to tell you. It's going to hurt. >> Let me go. >> Let me go. >> 2662. Can you send the other officer back over there? She's getting uh >> fight. Everything's 104. >> Let me go. Head over to >> Let me go. Let me go. Let me go. Let me go. Let me go. >> Her own actions had led her to this grim outcome. Now there was a look of regret on her face. Not for her wrongdoing, but for being caught. >> Now you have a resistant arrest charge. When you would have got out 2 hours. 2 hours. >> Get out. 2 hours. >> I got it on the ground. >> That wallet right now. >> Why on the ground? >> I get it. When you're in custody7, >> get in the car. Get in the car. >> The next time it's going to be worse. >> Get in the car. Get in the car. >> What's your name? >> Now you It was a simple thing. We would have figured it out. >> I tried to keep the cuffs loose on you. You slipped. She slipped her hand out and she tried to take off on me. So I had to try to cuff her. Then she started fighting. I put her on the ground, cuffed her up. It's all good. Why would you do that? >> Why would you do that? I'm trying to help you. I'm even trying to take the Walgreens stuff off you. >> Shortly after, the woman was taken to the police station. Her actions had forced the officers to take a much sterner approach, warning her seriously since no one could predict what might happen next. >> Give me your warrant stuck. It's light work. You You do something to where one of us get hurt. That's a felony. Then you go. Calm down. Can you get you some water or something? Take a few. Come on. >> I'm trying to get you out of here. >> That's a That's a boss. >> I'm trying to get you out of here. You know, right? So, we'll get you what we got to do. get you out of here. But if you cause more stuff in here, you're going to be here longer. Okay? >> Don't make it worse. It's not deser. Okay? >> You don't even you ain't even got nothing serious. >> It's not serious at all >> at all, man. You good to go. Just let us figure it out. >> The more calm you are, the less time you're going to be. >> Absolutely. I'm going to try to hurry speed through this. >> What's this set up for? Just retail. >> Right now, it's just retail misdemeanor stuff. Um, one second. >> There is a uh a warrant from somewhere, but that's neither here nor there just yet. I'll figure that out in a second. >> The woman was charged with retail theft and processed on her outstanding failure to appear warrant. Lying and resisting only make consequences worse. Even a minor theft can escalate if you refuse to cooperate.
