No, give me. >> So, this is grandma. She has all the product and [ __ ] on her, but she has >> Oh, grandma's right there. >> Yeah. This is how you set an example for this young lady. Have a seat. >> Please. >> I'm not going to say please. You disrespected us. This is from the other day. This is the woman. And then the next um >> a single surveillance video was enough [music] to expose every irresponsible lie. From the grandmother blaming her family member to denying they fled the scene. It became the evidence that quickly brought them face to face with the consequences of the law. Here are the times when woman thought her full Walmart theft went undetected. Your support helps us continue sharing the most compelling real life law enforcement stories. Like, subscribe, and stay tuned to This Is Law. Starting with this shoplifter who displayed one bizarre behavior after another. >> All right, miss. I'm going to >> get the hell out of here. >> Across the street. Let's go. We'll walk together. >> On the 16th of June, 2026, officers were dispatched to a retail store after receiving a report of an active shoplifting incident. The suspect was believed to be a woman in her 40s who was attempting to steal multiple items. When officers arrived, store employees provided them with her physical description to help identify her. She said she's walking along. >> She's wearing a pink shirt. >> A pink shirt, black shirt underneath, black. >> She's older, younger. >> I don't know. Maybe like 40. >> Have you said skinny? >> Skinny. >> Wearing a veno. It's just weird. Black duffel bag. Maybe she's >> So she has a duffel bag too with her. >> Yeah, black. >> I can show you on the camera. >> That's about right. >> After receiving the suspect's location from the store's surveillance cameras, officers quickly made contact with her. Despite their arrival, she appeared unusually calm, acting as though nothing had happened. >> How you doing? How are you? >> Sounds unrelated. I'll handle that after. >> I didn't say anything was wrong. I said, "How are you doing?" That's all I said to you. I'm greeting you, saying hello. That's it. I didn't say you did anything wrong. If you want to continue shopping, go ahead. >> Where's like the bathroom? Where's Where's the bathroom then? The bathroom's in the front over there by the recasers. Where goes all the copper right here that allegedly that they were concerned about. It appeared she was only looking for a restroom as an excuse to avoid the officers as the shopping cart full of merchandise had already been abandoned. When officers approached her again, her panic gradually became visible through her behavior. >> Do you need a you need us to call you an ambulance or something? >> I don't need [ __ ] >> You sure? I want to make sure you're good cuz you look like you're about to throw up. >> Not a problem. >> Okay. Find a chair. What are you doing? >> Hey, so look. It looks like you're going through some type of medical episode, so I'm just going to >> It looks like you're like harassing. >> No, you look like you're going through some kind of medical episode. I'm going to stand by and just make sure you're okay. You don't pass out. Okay, >> I'm not going to bother you, but I'm just going to make sure you're okay. That's what I'm going to do. >> You don't need to. >> Yeah, you're walking around like you're about to throw up. You got to use the bathroom. And you said you need to sit down. So, I'm going to make sure you're okay. Your health. I'm concerned about your well-being. So, I'm just going to make sure you're okay. You're more than welcome to do whatever you want. I'm going to make I'm not bothering you. >> I think you are. >> No more conversation. I'm done talking. Can you stop following me? >> I'm not following you. This is a public place. I can go wherever I want. You're more than welcome to leave if you want to. moving to an area where they weren't present. In reality, she had no intention of using the restroom as she soon began displaying even more bizarre behavior. All right, miss. I'm going to I'm going to call your ambulance. Okay. Something's going on here. >> It's fine. It's fine. >> Something's going on here. I'm going to call your ambulance so you can get checked out. Okay. >> You can't force me to go in. >> I'm not forcing you anyway, but let me call the paramedics for you so you can talk to you. >> I'm scared >> of what? >> Why are you guys harassing me? You seek everyone out. >> No one's harassing you, miss. >> I'm going to step I'm going to step away now since you feel I'm harassing you. I told you I'm only concerned about your health. That's not normal what you're doing right now. I would say not normal >> to get on to get on a dirty floor and start doing all that. No, that's not normal. >> Okay, listen. Now you're being trespassed. You have to leave now. Listen, listen. Listen. This is This is the store. Listen. This is the store. Now they're telling you to leave. So now I'm authorizing you to leave. Please don't don't push. Do not push. Go this way. You have to leave, miss. You have to You have to leave. I'm telling you, you have to leave or else you're going to be in cuffs. >> You have to leave. How? >> What do you mean? You sitting on the floor trying to make yourself throw up. >> Not at all. Why you >> We're actually going to leave. We actually miss. >> That's it. We're going to We're going to force you to leave. Don't do that again or else she going to cuffs. >> That's fine. >> We're not doing anything to you. >> Don't put your hands on me. You have to leave. >> Walk that way, please. Ironically, despite wearing a security uniform, the woman seemed unable to keep herself under control. Her behavior became increasingly erratic, and she soon began acting even more irrationally. Miss, >> I have >> This is the men's bathroom. >> You're in the men's bathroom. >> You're in You're in the bathroom. Okay, then go to the women's bathroom then. >> Go to the women's bathroom. >> So, you tell me you're going to use the bathroom. You're going to leave. >> No, >> miss. >> I just peed on myself. >> Go. Let's go. Come on. That's it. That's it. Let's go. [laughter] That's it. Let's go. You're going in handcuffs now. You're going to go in handcuffs. Let's go. >> Let's go. Walk. We don't have time for games. Let's go. You're leaving now. That's it. No more. >> Use the bathroom. >> Let's go. You can use the bathroom outside. >> Come on. Come on. Come on. >> Walk. Let's go. Walk, >> [ __ ] Walk. Keep walking. Keep walking. Get off the floor if you walk in. >> The woman could have simply left as the store had chosen not to pursue shoplifting charges against her. However, she suddenly stripped naked in public, prompting officers to immediately change course and place her under arrest. >> What? >> Get the hell out of here to be >> across the street. Let's go. We'll walk together. Let's keep walking. We're not doing this. >> Get the hell out of here. Go. Let's go. Let's go. Because you're playing games. I don't have time for this. Keep walking. Keep walking. >> Get the hell out of here. All right, you're going to go handcuffs now. >> WHY? >> YOU'RE STRIPPING BUTT ass naked. What do you mean? Let's go. You're going to the station now. Have time for this [ __ ] Hey, stop resisting. >> Okay. Okay. No. This is what you wanted, right? >> Calm the You better calm down. You calm down. Calm down. Let's go. Walk. Walk. gave you every opportunity. >> The woman was charged with criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct, and resisting [music] arrest. Strange behavior does not excuse refusing lawful orders or resisting officers. A situation that could have ended with simply leaving can quickly escalate into multiple criminal charges when someone chooses confrontation instead of [music] compliance. Before we move on to the next store theft, let's switch things up with this airport theft case. Well, my thing is why are you yelling at me? That ain't how you cooperate. You want respect, right? >> I have it. >> Where? >> With my money. >> Okay. Where's your money? >> On the 11th of November 2024, officers were dispatched to an airport after receiving a report that a woman stole another passenger's phone and wallet from a TSA security checkpoint bin. As soon as they arrived, airport staff provided surveillance footage that clearly captured the theft. passenger on video taking a wallet and falling out of a bin. She's saying she doesn't have it at all, asking her what she did with it. Is it this person? >> Yes. Yes, sir. >> And it's going to end up being in that bin. >> So that's the bin. >> Yeah. When he gets the bag out of there, it'll get more little more clear. >> Did she go to a restroom anywhere? >> Trying to find out. The officers approached the suspect shortly afterward, but she appeared to know exactly what was happening and immediately began denying everything. >> Hi, >> I'm Deputy Hartum with the Sheriff's Office. >> So, I just looked at some video and it's pretty good evidence that you took this guy's cell phone. Where's the cell phone? Okay. Where is it? >> Cuz I don't have a cell phone. >> Where is Where is it? >> Where's the one that you took out of that bin that I just saw on the camera? >> Are you not going to answer me or >> lane? What do you want me to say? >> What? What do you want me to say? You got You're on camera. You're on camera taking a phone out of a bin and now you say you don't have it. Where is it? Do you have any Do you have an ID on you? >> Yeah, I just gave you all my ID. >> Who you >> Do you have this lady's ID? Anyone? No, >> she has her ID. >> He took my information already. >> Oh, no. Okay. >> What are you yelling at me for? >> I'm Well, I'm I'm just trying to figure out where's this guy's where's this person's property? >> Well, my thing is why are you yelling at me? That ain't how you cooperate. You want respect, right? So if I start yelling at you just because you have a sheriff on you, you mean you do have a sense of >> I'm sorry. I'm a little bit hard of hearing and that's not really yelling. I'm just trying to make it. >> When when someone in this situation goes through all this stuff and then they say they don't have something, it's a little frustrating. So I raise my voice up another octave and I apologize. Where's this guy's phone? The officers kept the situation under control, preventing the suspect from using the deputy's tone as a distraction from the investigation. That approach paid off as she eventually admitted she had been involved with the missing property. >> When I walked away from the phone, I put the I gave the phone to the whatever that lady is and whatever. I can't tell you. I don't even know this airport like that to tell you where it's at. That's why I said I can't tell you. >> So, who? It's in a convenience store or something like that. What I'm going to do with his iPhone? I have a iPhone, too. What I'm going to do with this phone? >> There's a wallet in the phone. >> All of that stuff is in one of them in my thing. I don't have that, man. >> Click up all your stuff. You're going to go down to the jail then. >> A jail. >> I'm going to jail for what? >> You just said you took the phone out of the bin. You just said you took it. You gave it to somebody else. >> It's in a convenient. I was I >> Did you not take it away out of the bin and give it to somebody in the convenience store? >> Don't you supposed to do that when you find somebody's [ __ ] >> Well, okay. When you find somebody's stuff, not when you take it out of a bin and when you're going through TSA, just pick your stuff up. Just pick your stuff up. >> Are you traveling with her? >> Go be open. >> Go. >> Is there any other video of this? >> I'm sure the wick can bring up some more, but cuz she said she put it in the store. >> They're looking where they she went. They're checking up. Based on the suspect's statements, officers quickly recovered the missing belongings and returned them to their owner. However, it soon became clear that there was still one problem. >> Where'd you find that? >> Behind 42 on the ticket counter. >> That's the wallet. >> Yeah. >> For the phone case >> behind How did you find >> 42 behind the counter? Video her doing it. >> Oh, you're David. >> I'm David. >> So, is this your wallet? >> That is my wallet. That's my ID. >> Was there any money in here? There was about 180 bucks. >> Where was the money >> in the money clip? >> All right, we're going to go downstairs for the >> Do you want She need to be handcuffed, you think? Or she walk? >> I don't think she's cooperative. If uh if you found something else on the video, >> so you want a handcuff? You think I'm not going to walk with you? Like, why? >> Can you ask? Okay, it's a it's >> The victim reported that $180 in cash was missing, leading officers to suspect the woman had taken it and hidden the evidence. After bringing her to the airport security office, they pressured her to admit where the money was. >> Right now, we got the phone. The phone was at a store like probably you said. Now, we're looking for this cash that this gentleman says he's missing. So, right now, so right now, this is very simple. I mean, this is the difference between getting a little mun municipal ticket and walking out the door or going down to jail and having to post cash bail for a misdemeanor. If we find it with your cooperation, the money is whatever I'm talking about, then we could go a easier route. I He's the the the lead law enforcement uh officer on this case, but he just told you what he is going to do. Municipal ticket. So, will you cooperating uh help us find that money or yes or no? >> We're going to keep it. >> Okay. So, if you have the money just or you know where it is, provide it to us. Okay. >> Where is it? >> I have it. >> Where? >> With my money. >> Okay. Where's your money? >> In my chest. >> Okay. Uh I'm going to bring in a female officer and you're going to uh put it on the counter and uh you know how much money you had and you know how much money he had. Separate the two. It it should equal up to the money that he's missing without me telling you that number. and then we can go ahead right to the city. Did you have it on you right now? >> Yes. >> Uh you >> The woman admitted stealing the cash without the slightest remorse. She even tried to justify her actions with an excuse that was difficult to believe. >> What were we going to do with the uh the money? You just going to spend it like play box or something like that? Why did you want to uh steal from this guy? >> It wasn't uh intentionally stealing. Like I said, when I grabbed it from the beginning, it was a a legitimate mistake. So, I I put the phone down. >> I believe that. I believe it was a legitimate mistake. >> And so, and when I seen that, I didn't even realize I had a lot of cuz like I said, I had a lot and all that. So, when I seen that, I did testimony in order to be you didn't intend to keep the phone because you you told us where it was. So, I I believe that too. But my my thing is even when you came down here to the office and you know that we were missing money and we were looking for money. >> I didn't know y'all was looking for money at all. I didn't know that's what y'all was looking for. Y'all didn't ask me about it. But I knew I didn't say anything to you about it though. That was my bad. I was wrong for that. >> I I I get that too. But >> I was out of order for I that's not my my thing is I like I'm not passing judgment, but it also shows intent. >> Ironically, what she claimed was an unintentional mistake ultimately led to her being charged with theft. Everyone can make a mistake, but choosing not to correct it is a different decision. [music] Taking responsibility early often prevents a bad situation from becoming a criminal one. Honesty after a mistake is what separates poor judgment from intentional wrongdoing. Next, this woman even claimed she had a legitimate reason to steal you. Give me my shoe. >> I'm not an angel. I do wrong. And yes, I stole, but I stole for a good reason. It's not like I was just stealing. >> On the 1st of May, 2026, officers were dispatched to a Walmart parking lot after receiving a report that a woman had loaded multiple unpaid items into her vehicle. Even more concerning, her young son was caught in the middle of the situation. First, here's what happened when officers arrived at the scene. >> Can you call back the complainant and find out what items were not paid for? >> I said to go home and get my take my brother. >> Sit back and put your seat belt back on. What are you doing? We are going to go to McDonald's. You need to stop. I've had that. I've had that. >> You know what? You know what? Yes, I did. Here, take it. You can have Take it back to him. >> No. See, you're in the office. I'll take it back. No, no, no. We're way beyond. Stop. Go up to my car. >> I cannot >> go to my car. >> No, I cannot >> get out of the car. >> She believed that returning the stolen merchandise would erase the crime she had already committed. Fearing she might flee, officers attempted to pull her out of the vehicle, but her resistance quickly turned the situation into chaos. >> Okay. >> Go to the ground. >> STOP. STOP. STOP RIGHT THERE. >> STOP IT. >> STOP. >> YOU ARE DOING THIS. NOT US. TO LET ME CALL my mom. >> Stop. >> Please let ME CALL MY MOM. >> I HATE YOU. [screaming] >> You're also getting resisting arrest. >> I already have one of those. >> Oh, now you got another. >> I'm not resisting. I can't breathe. >> Roll her over. >> Roll over. Sit up. >> Sit up. >> Okay. >> I I can't. You can't. >> Stand up. >> No, we are way beyond that. Stand up. >> I have to call my mom. >> Stand up. >> Stand up. Clearly, her behavior was not something she should have displayed in front of her family. She seemed to care only about herself. At this point, she even began portraying herself as the victim. Oh, [screaming] >> my arm. Oh, my arm. Oh, please let go that. Let go that arm. Let go that arm. >> Oh my god. No. No. No. Please let go of my arm. The message. No. Way past that. No, we go way past that. >> Hey, I coop. No, you did not. >> I did. I finally I said fine. Here, take it. >> That is not cooperation. That is cooperation. >> No, it is not. >> Yes, there it is. >> What is your name? >> Kathy Storm. >> Okay. Do you know her phone number off top of your head? >> I do. >> Okay. In Kai. >> I want to call you to call my friend. She I don't know her phone number off the top of my head cuz she needs to find somebody to pick up her son if you're arresting me. >> This is your mother? Yes. >> And you want her to take come take your son? >> She's got to come get my car and my son. >> Okay. That's all we're worried about right now. What What do you want the other friend for? I because I have to have her pick up find someone else to pick up the son cuz I'm supposed to take her son out to go eat. She's >> What's your mother's name? >> Anyway, Kathy's farm. >> I'm not >> Stop talking and let me talk. Now it is my turn. >> You had your turn. Now it's my turn. >> No, obviously I do. >> No, >> obviously I do because you're not getting >> up. My son's right there. >> We are getting in the car. You don't get in the car. You're going to give instructions right away. It seems she still failed to realize that she was the one who had caused the situation. She continued to believe she had done nothing wrong and before long she started resisting once again. >> Give me my shoe. >> Hey my shoe. Just let me go. >> Get in the car. There's >> grandma. Stop. >> We hate the police. YOU GUYS ARE [ __ ] Get in the car. You guys should get that in. >> Get in the car. I'm in the car. >> You were all the way. >> Now you're getting instructed. >> That was supposed to be mom who trying to call. >> Put your feet in the car. Done. Put your feet in the car. >> I will soon as you finish talking. >> Put your feet in the car. >> In the car. You said put my feet >> all the way in the car. >> Put my feet in the car. After repeated efforts by the officers, she finally began providing the contact information of a guardian for the family member who was still sitting in the vehicle. She showed little concern for her family member and even started using the situation to make herself appear pitiful in hopes of avoiding arrest. >> The reason I have to steal is because I don't have any money. I don't have anybody to help me. Yes, my mom is there, but she won't help me. >> Mhm. >> I I literally live off of Tannis. I have no money. I have to provide for my son. I lost everything. I just left the domestic violence situation. I just got out of the shelter. Adrian, >> yeah, we're here with him. >> And I I just want to go home and be with my son. I'm scared out of my mind as it is. Nobody's helped me with the domestic violence. Nobody's helped me with anything. It was all been me, my son, as traumatized as it is. I just want to go home. Please, I don't need to go to jail. I won't go back to Walmart. >> I'll I'll be I promise I'll I'll do better. Just please don't arrest me. >> I I understand. I just want to go home. >> Listen to me. Okay. Will you listen to me? >> Okay. >> I can understand that you're down and out. Okay. And you're trying to survive. All right. >> So why listen? >> Hear me out. Okay. I heard you out. Right. >> Okay. But there is plenty plenty of resources that could have helped you. >> I have called. >> You could have you could have probably gone home with a citation. >> Okay. So what? I wasn't resisting. >> I really wasn't. >> I was scared. >> I wasn't resisting. I was telling I was trying to talk to him. He wouldn't let me talk. So then, oh, now you're getting a resisting because you won't listen. No, I'm not going to leave. My son sitting here by himself. >> What do you think about her reason for stealing after hearing her admit it? She clearly showed no remorse. Even more astonishingly, she went on to insist that it was a completely justified reason. >> You don't. >> I'm not an angel. I do wrong. And yes, I stole, but I stole for a good reason. And it's not like I was just stealing to steal. >> Okay. There's stuff in there like Red Bulls. There's stuff in there like >> I built a hat. I got those from Nom Nom. >> Yeah. It's all in the bag. That's all been stolen. >> The Red Bull. There shouldn't be a Red Bull in the bag. I got all my Red Bulls from from Nom Nom down there. >> I don't know what to tell you. I >> I mean, I put some put my a couple of my drinks in there. I didn't steal them. I got them from Nom Nom >> cuz that's where I get all my drinks. >> Are you self-medicated? >> No. I just want to go home and be with my baby. Please. >> Well, let's go take care of this. The sooner we take care of it, the sooner you can get home. Okay. So, put your feet in for me, please. You got to get your slide around. >> Can I please >> you can put your feet up underneath this the thing. You don't want your son to see you like this. >> He's already seen it. >> Yeah. You don't want to bring him over here for a second. >> No, that's not a good idea. >> Talk to him. >> Well, whoever your friend is that's coming can bring him over here. We're not doing that. >> Please let me do it. Let me just talk over there. Put your feet in. >> Please let me talk to him. I'm acting nicely. I'm not respecting and he's cough tight as >> Okay. >> And it hurts biting into my arm. >> Then let's get you to the jail. >> No, I don't need to take you to jail. >> In the end, she was taken to jail and face charges of retail theft, [music] obstructing justice, resisting arrest, and contributing to the delinquency of a child. People can face far more serious consequences when they refuse to take responsibility for their actions. Accepting accountability and cooperating with law enforcement often leads to a better outcome than making excuses or resisting an arrest. Even worse, the grandmother was no better. Bringing her own granddaughter along to shoplift. Say please. >> I'm not going to say please to you. You disrespected us by trying to resist arrest. Okay. >> Cuz you're being detained for shoplifting. That's why. >> No, I'm not. She No, I'm not. On the 17th of December 2023, officers responded to a report from WCO Foods about a woman suspected of shoplifting alongside two teenage girls. Upon arriving at the scene, officers were able to observe their actions through the store's surveillance cameras. >> I did, but to answer the door, I lost a female. She had a She has a Hoba box on her. >> She has a what? >> A House and beauty product. She [ __ ] >> It's okay. It's okay. >> She has a purse. I can't find it right now. So this is grandma. She has all the product and [ __ ] on her, but she has something >> Oh, grandma's right there. >> Yeah, she has something yellow. And then just to answer you guys, I man at one second. >> Okay, so um >> where Oh, she's wearing black. >> Yes. So she had a box in her hood in either she just picked it up to conceal her pants right now, but then she has something else in her bag. But there's >> grandma now. >> No. Yeah, they've been concealing together. I don't know why they're separating all of a sudden. And there's another female. A smaller female for sure. >> Um, >> so would you you want the items back obviously? >> Oh, hell yeah. >> Then you want them trespass. >> Oh, mostly. >> Okay. >> So, I can show you real quick that way. Um, here we go. There's grandma. >> Cuz they haven't pass points of sale yet. Um, let me What What aisle is this right here? >> This is frozen. This is >> all right. I'm Let's go make contact and then uh you can chill here. >> Okay. So, she has she has something in her bag and then again she has a yellow box. I don't know where it is. It's House of Beauty cuz >> it's just me right now. >> Okay. >> But grandma has a [ __ ] ton of stuff in her purse on top of her. >> Okay. >> Under the store's policy, officers were authorized to stop the group's actions before they left the store. The oldest woman in the group immediately acted confused when confronted by police, as if she were deliberately trying to appear innocent. Ladies, how you doing today? >> Okay. >> Hey, uh, let's go ahead and bring all this. We're going to go down to the LP office. We're going to go have a little chat. Okay. >> Cool. >> We're going to have a chat. Why? >> Yeah. So, right now, um, you're you're most likely concealing items right now that were shoplifted. So, let's just go have a talk down at the LP office so we don't have to make a talk out here. Okay. >> Okay. But I think you're mistaking. >> Okay. Well, if I am, then I am. So, let's go have a talk. >> So, go ahead and just follow me. >> What about all my frozen food? >> Uh, if Hey, if it's a mistake, we'll we'll we'll get some new ones. Okay. Go right. Go right. >> Go right. >> Up until that point, the woman appeared to cooperate with the officer's instructions. However, her attitude changed the moment they decided to detain her after entering the loss prevention office. >> Just go ahead and put your hand behind your back for a second. >> Why? >> Ma'am, put your hand behind your back. >> Why? Cuz you're being detained for shopping. That's why. >> No, I'm not. No, I'm not right now. >> No, I'm not. >> Relax. >> Let go of the purse. >> Relax. >> Let go of the purse. >> You want to stop? Stop fighting with us. Do it. Stop fighting. Do it, Dad. Do it now. Not so much. Do it now. >> No. Whatever you tell me to do. >> Here. Anything. You also do it. Yeah. >> Any my bag? You're You're being sane. I thought you were saying some dumb. >> You're saying dumb [ __ ] >> Listen, you have three officers and you're fighting. You're not going on. >> Her attempt to appear innocent quickly turned into an additional resisting arrest charge because of her uncooperative behavior. Yet, she showed no sign of embarrassment, even demanding to be treated with respect simply because she was older. >> This is how you set an example for this young lady. Have a seat. Have a seat. Say please. >> I'm not going to say please to you. You disrespected us by trying to resist arrest. Okay. >> Then at this point you don't have a choice. >> It's like we told you you're detained for the crime of a shoplifting concealment. Then you resisted with us and tried to grab a bag. >> So what is your name? You have to legally give it to me at this point >> or I will charge you >> anything investigation. It doesn't matter >> the charges you already have. >> James >> Jane >> Jane what's your last name? >> Um we're going to finish the investigation and depending on if anyone else can pick up especially the little one you're going to go down to our booking facility and get processed for shoplifting. The woman tried to remain calm as if nothing serious was happening. It seemed she was already coming up with a story to justify herself. One that she soon volunteered to the officers. >> I have never had anything like this happen to me. And I I'm telling you, I don't know how that got in there. >> I was going through the store shopping. I have a cart full of food to buy. >> Okay. >> And they came up to me and said that we had to come in here because there was a possibility of some shoplifting going on. Mhm. >> I didn't know. I was walking through the store looking at stuff and everything and some points I walked away from my purse. Look at your cameras. >> I don't know how it got in there. >> Okay. And was your purse in the little seat area the whole time or >> It was in the little seat area. Yes. >> Okay. How long would you say that you lost visual of your purse your whole time? >> I don't know. I'm I was looking at stuff trying to see check prices and and and figure out what I was going to get and probably at some point it might have been for a little while but >> Dez was there by my purse so I I don't know. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> I mean technically you just dumb and stuff except for what she was doing. I had no clue she was stealing alcohol. I don't even know what that [ __ ] is. Like I said, I don't drink. >> The grandmother tried to blame the granddaughter who was with her to avoid taking responsibility, even though it clearly contradicted the surveillance footage. Even the granddaughter admitted everything. >> You took the chocolates >> and you put them in your bag. >> MC L. >> Which bag is yours? >> Um, Tinker Bell. >> A Tinker Bell bag. Okay. Okay. What else did you put in your bag? >> No matches also. Okay. Do you have a middle name? >> The guy in the buzz. >> The buzz ball. >> Yeah. >> Okay. No. But do you have a middle name or no? >> Jane. >> What is that? Like a alcohol drink? >> Legal first name. >> Yeah. >> Why are you stealing alcohol? You're 16. >> Can you spell it for me? >> A R M I N P R. >> It's okay. >> [snorts] >> Do you have anything else on you right now? >> The third suspect was later picked up by her mother because she was a minor. In the end, both the grandmother and her granddaughter were charged with shoplifting, while the grandmother was additionally charged with resisting arrest. An older age is never an excuse for dishonest behavior. When someone chooses to involve younger family members in a crime instead of setting a better example, the damage goes far beyond the legal consequences. Even more surprisingly, this woman managed to turn a $4.88 shoplifting into a $5,000 bond. >> This is from the other day, but this is the woman. >> And then the next um >> You ugly piece of [ __ ] >> I'll add that to it. >> Good. You're going to jail. All three of you will be in jail. I promise you. >> On the 24th of December, 2024, officers approached a woman suspected of being involved in a shoplifting incident at a 71. As soon as they brought up the incident, she immediately denied everything. >> Were you at the uh 7-Eleven before the Sonoka? >> Yeah, the lady was being crazy. >> Okay. What? Could you just tell me what happened over there? >> I just left. She's talking crazy. >> Okay. Did you take anything from there? >> No, this is stuff I got that I bought. >> That's from the other store? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Let me just Let me just verify and I'll get you on your way. Do you have an ID on you? >> No, no ID. >> You don't have an ID on you? >> You okay? >> Yeah. I just >> No, I understand. We're just trying to We just got called, so we just have to check into it. >> That's all. No big deal. >> What's your uh first name? >> Michaela. >> M. How you spell that? >> Um, >> why do I got to give you my name? >> Because we're investigating to see whether you are the person we're looking for. Meanwhile, another officer arrived at the 711 where an employee provided surveillance images confirming that the woman they had stopped was the same person they were looking for. >> Yes. Um I have the picture that came. >> Okay. What did she take? She took a bag of chips, like potato chips. >> Do you want to press charges? Um, [music] definitely want to trespass, but I think we I think if I asked my own good picture, this is from the other day, but this is the And then the next um the next time uh she came in was well, she came in just literally called and then before that was yesterday. She stole some things yesterday, but I wasn't yesterday. >> So when you just called a couple minutes ago, she came in right before that chocolate. >> Yeah. So she she was here to pay, but I wouldn't sell it to her hopefully thinking that she would make it round, but um there was another customer that I was trying to help. She said she was on a bike going south. >> So she came in and got like the noodles and the chips came up to pay and you were like, "No, like you can't like you need to leave. And then did she just walk out with the stuff? >> I [laughter] um are you able to use it for him? But then can you get me like a receipt for those two things? >> Um yeah. Uh I'm not exactly sure, but I'll I'll grab a thing. >> Yeah. Just just whatever you know 100% she took. And then while you're doing that, uh can I mess around with the video? >> Yes. >> Back with the suspect, she had no idea her lies had already fallen apart. Being kept at the scene made her increasingly agitated and she grew visibly irritated as officers continued asking for her personal information. >> Your last name. Are you giving me the proper ID? Don't give me false ID cuz I don't want to get you in trouble. >> No, but I'm not. That's the That's the thing. >> Your last name is >> But that's why I don't That's why I didn't even want to tell you because you're not going to you're like you're like other people. You're either you know me or you don't. So I just I >> I don't know you. I don't know you personally. No, I don't. But we got a call for something that happened at the store. So I either have to make a positive ID on you or let you go. >> She said she's gonna trespass from there. And I said we can't. >> Okay, we can't because you're not on the property. >> I won't go back in there. But that's [ __ ] >> And that's fine. That's fine. I'm not here to trespass you. Is your last name actually really Hitler or No. >> My last name's >> H I T. >> L E R. And Michaela, how do I spell your first name, please? M I >> M I >> Mhm. >> K. >> Mhm. >> A Y. >> I don't got my last name. >> What's that? >> I don't go by that last name. >> Yeah, whatever. >> No, you got to give me your you got to give me your first name and last name. What's your first name or your last name? >> I did. >> You said Michaela. >> I know. >> But you're not you're not spelling your name. >> I don't understand. You're either going to trust us or you're not. >> It's not a matter of that right now. If you can't even identify yourself to me during an investigation, then you automatically go to jail for failing to >> I actually told you >> provide your ID. And I asked you to spell your name for me. >> M I K A. >> Okay. M I K A. >> Can you continue, please? >> I >> Okay. And last name is H I T L E R. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> Her unusual last name immediately raised the officer's suspicions about whether she was telling the truth. She calmly continued eating as if nothing serious had happened. And even then, she still refused to provide her date of birth. >> What's your date of birth? >> Michaela, don't make me have to >> be honest with you. I'm still trying to figure it out. >> I know, but don't make me have to take you to jail for failure to identify. I don't want to. >> You can do that. Like, >> I know, but it's Christmas. What kind of job is this? >> Michaela, I'm not against >> I really need to be a cop or something cuz Hey, >> Michaela, look at me. I'm not against you. I don't want you to go to jail. I don't want you to have any issues. It's Christmas Eve. I want you to go enjoy yourself. You know what I'm saying? I'm not out here to ruin your night. I just have to call in your identification. You know what I'm saying? That's all I have to do. All right, Michael. I want you to do me a favor. While you're eating, when this truck pulls up right here, I want you to look at this truck. See right here? >> Right there. >> Yeah. This is Yeah. Right here. >> After confirming her actions at the store, the officers returned to the woman and began taking her into custody. >> Okay, you know what we can go ahead and do is help fight. >> What the? >> Hold on. Wait. I'm not I'm not failing to do anything. >> Yeah, but you're being detained for shop opening right now. >> What? >> You're being detained. You're not under arrest. You're being detained. >> Okay, now you're going to jail because I'm not >> No, you're not. >> Ouch. >> You're not under arrest. >> Thank you. >> You're not under arrest, but you're being detained. while we complete this investigation. >> You're not allowed to do this. >> But you will have a charge for failing to identify if you >> Okay, that's what we're going to go with. >> I gave you my birthday and everything. >> Okay, I'll find you. >> We're going to go with that. >> I can't find my name in the computer. >> We're going to go with that. >> I'm going to go with failure to identify you. >> I just identified myself though. >> I asked you and you didn't want to call. >> Yes, I did. And I gave you my birthday. >> What's your birthday? Your first name. M I K. >> I did spell it. M I K A Y L A Hitler. H I T L E R. I didn't do anything wrong in he just put me in cuffs. >> You're being detained. >> I didn't do anything. >> Did you already said you're being detained on a shot >> for no reason? I didn't shoplift. >> Okay. >> You should have got the video before you did this. >> They're going to review >> because she would be in jail. >> That's fine. And if you didn't, then you'll be released. But as of right now, >> I shouldn't be in cuffs. >> If we don't get you in the computer, [snorts] >> you know what? He's going to look He's going to look her up cuz I can't I can't get her in the computer. I can't get enough. Okay. >> She showed no signs of remorse whatsoever. Instead, she immediately began portraying herself as the victim, arrogantly insulting and cursing AT THE OFFICERS. >> PLEASE HELP ME. >> IN A MINUTE, you're going to get another. >> I want to go. I WANT TO GO. I WANT TO GO. >> YOU'RE GOING to get >> I WANT TO GO. >> YOU'RE GOING TO GET A THIRD CHARGE. >> I WANT TO GO. >> You ugly piece of [ __ ] >> I'll add that to it. >> Good. You're going to jail. All three of you will be in jail. I promise you. >> Off. >> All right. You have the right to remain off. Anything you [screaming] >> got three charges so far. >> Yeah. Well, eat my How about that? >> Doesn't matter to me. >> [ __ ] my How about that? >> It's on you. >> Eat my How about that? Your officers will. Your officers will. >> Where did I go first? >> Yep. They already have. Y'all are going down. Like, that was a good one. Y'all did great this time. You pissed me off. Just enough. >> Okay. >> What did I do again? Well, you're a liar. >> You Oh, you're Oh, yes. The woman was charged with threatening an officer, giving a false name upon being arrested, and petty theft. This case shows that refusing to take responsibility only makes a bad situation worse. Lying about your identity, arguing with officers, and responding with threats or insults can quickly turn a minor theft case into [music] one with far more serious consequences. Next, the woman kept portraying herself as the victim to avoid responsibility. >> Okay. But you said he got a stuff back. What did he get back? >> He pulled it off my arm. He didn't ask anything. He ripped off my arm. Ripped off my arm. >> The purple bag. >> Yeah, cuz my bike just got stolen 3 days ago. I threw a poor bas. On the 1st of July 2023, police responded to a call from a public store reporting that a woman had concealed merchandise in her bag and attempted to leave without paying. Officers approached her after she tried to flee. She immediately tried to portray herself as the victim. >> Yeah. >> 1012 Mane and coconut. >> Yeah. >> Hey, the reason why I'm here, did you um just come from Publix? >> Yeah. >> Did you take anything? >> Yeah, I think I hurt my arm. >> Yeah. What happened? >> He grabbed it out of my arm. I was going to move my bike. Can >> you take a seat for me real quick, please? >> Yeah. He got his stuff back. >> All right. What What did you try to take? >> I didn't try to take anything. I was getting my bike inside the store. >> Okay. But you said he got a stuck back. What did he get back? >> He pulled it off my arm. He didn't ask anything cuz he ripped off my arm. >> He asked what I was doing or anything. >> Okay. What did you have in your hands that >> I was Okay. I had a a cooler that was filling up for the beach. Okay. >> Okay. >> And he I was going to put my bike inside. >> Okay. >> Cuz it's sitting out in front. I just got the bike and just before my bike stole two three days ago and they gave it to the guy who stole it from me. >> Okay. >> I just for Vasquez. He gave my bike to this guy who I who I called on. >> So this time I put my bike inside and I had the cooler. He didn't ask me to hand me the cooler. Nothing. He just ripped it out of my [ __ ] arm. He didn't ask me anything. Like what are you doing? >> Was it your cooler or cooler? >> It was a source cooler. That's all you have to do in there. >> What was in it? >> Just a salad or whatever. A salad and ginger ale and a shirt maybe. >> You ask me nothing. >> You ripped off my arm. >> She immediately tried to shift the investigation by claiming she had been assaulted. As the encounter continued, her behavior became increasingly confrontational and aggressive, quickly escalating the tension at the scene. >> Yeah, cuz my bike just got stolen three days ago at 04. Okay, [ __ ] rip someone I press for assault, >> Natalie. >> I want to press for assault. >> Okay. All right. >> That is not cool. You say it's okay. That's not okay. >> Sit down. >> That is not okay. >> Okay. Well, I'll handle that. >> THAT IS NOT OKAY. I already pissed someone else in me. That is not okay. >> We'll handle that after we handle that. >> That is not okay. That is not okay. >> That is not okay. See that? That big brother says it's okay for some guy to punch me the other day. It's okay for him to rip it off my damn arm. He says it's okay for him to rip the damn thing off your arm. I'm stealing. It is not okay for stealing. OKAY. SO, YOU MAKE ESTABLISHED THAT. >> IT'S NOT OKAY. >> OKAY. ARE YOU DONE yelling at me? >> Yeah. It's not okay to just rip it off your arm. >> Okay. It's not okay to steal YOUR >> IT'S NOT OKAY. >> OKAY. >> Why are you yelling at that? >> Cuz he thinks it's okay. >> It's not okay. >> I've been abused so many times. It's unbelievable. You said it was okay for a manager ripped the other day of my arm. >> Don't kill him. Excuse me. >> No. >> I'm calling Jim Leser. That's my mom's boyfriend. He's the chief of police. I'm calling Jim. That's my mom's boyfriend. You [ __ ] I'm calling Jim. I'm calling >> Miss Natalie. Is it spelled N A T A? >> I'm calling Jim. >> Miss Natalie. >> My mom. My mom's going to text him right now. >> She completely ignored the officer's instructions. She even kept bringing up her relatives repeatedly as if they were the only leverage she had left. She kept repeating the story about her stolen bicycle, making every attempt by the officers to explain the situation completely pointless. >> Talk about that. >> So, my bike is I was trying to get stolen for the third time, especially the report 3 days ago. Okay. >> Okay. So, cooler. I just want to put my bike aside cuz we're going to keep going. Okay. I'm going to call my boyfriend. I want I'm sorry. Okay. So, he didn't even ask me anything. He said, "Hey, can you give me that or what are you doing?" cuz I I just want to move my bike quickly inside the store like inside the where the rain machine is at and he just pulled it right off my arm and asked for nothing. He just ripped right out arm. >> Where were you when he grabbed it >> right then going out the thing right in the entryway or the where the wal see my bike was still there. >> Pay for it. >> No, I see my bike was still there and I saw I pull inside. >> He took items and he walked out past the point of sale. >> I don't know if the point past sale is >> the way area is past point of sale. >> Yes. >> No, he ripped the freaking thing off my arm. >> But also you can't put it in your bag. What? It's not my bag. It was a cool the the purple the >> He [ __ ] ripped off my arm. He didn't ask for anything. He ripped off my damn arm. >> No, he tried to leave the store. My plane was right there. I was in the waiting area. >> Meanwhile, another officer arrived at the scene and confirmed that the evidence supported the employees account. So, uh, were you the one that I talked to? >> Yeah. Okay. Um, so, uh, we have her right now. Um, can you just tell me what what exactly? >> Yeah. So, I got the list of all the stuff. But, um, we saw her in the deli starting to put stuff in her bag. >> Oh, you actually saw her? >> Oh, yeah. I saw with my eyes and then I watched her down aisle too completely packing full. That's when I called as soon as I saw that cuz I knew she was going to walk out. So, >> um is there any way we can also get a um video of it as well >> to my cell phone and I'll upload it? >> Yeah. Okay. Um let's see what is uh um just wanted to make sure to press charges on this. >> Yes. Perfect. Yeah. And trespass. >> Yep. >> Do you have her name by chance? >> Um I do not. I was actually going to get that right now. >> Okay. Ain't no Walmart neighborhood. Mark, are we crossing? Um, >> if you have an idea, it's probably going to be the easiest. >> The woman was charged with theft, shoplifting under $750, and was formerally trespassed from the public's property. This case shows how quickly attempts to avoid responsibility can fall apart when evidence and witness accounts reveal what really happened. Staying calm and cooperating with the investigation is always a better choice than creating more conflict and drawing attention away from the facts. What do you think about cases like this? It's quite easy. >> I never don't rip any more rip any tags off. >> No. Do you have the one? >> Yeah. >> And I just don't want to do it in front of her. It's all It's up to them. >> On the 16th of April 2025, police received a report from a Florida store about a woman who had allegedly stuffed more than $1,000 worth of merchandise into her bag without any intention of paying. Officers responded to the scene immediately, and this was what unfolded next. >> All right, so this is the deal. She was sold over $1,000 worth of stuff in a bag. Should have taken it all out when she was approached. Probably is. We weren't just trying to be nice and going to get all our stuff back, but we're still missing items and she's acting like I mean she works here or something. So, and hasn't So, maybe you can help us get her items back. >> Hello. >> Hi. How are you? >> Good. How are you? >> I'm good. >> Do you have a driver's license with you or an ID? >> Uh, she has it. >> All right. From New York, but >> do you live down in Florida now or >> No, I live here. I grew up here and I lived in New York for 15 years. >> Okay. How long have you been living down here from noon? >> Okay. About 2020. >> She's looking for two items without tags on them. And I She's asking me where they are. I don't know. I can look for her. I offered to pay for the two for the inconvenience. I know they came off. She said they don't come off when you try them on. >> I mean, we heard in the fitting room like ripping. >> No. >> I mean, [clears throat] these don't come off easily. This is like a whole >> May I demonstrate? Actually, it's quite easy. No, don't rip any more tags. >> Rip any tags off. >> No, just set it down and set it down. >> If you put the tag in while you dress it, >> she openly admitted what she had done without showing any real shame or remorse. In fact, two items were still missing. Yet, instead of helping recover them, she made little effort to assist and continued insisting she had no idea where they were. >> I wanted to get their stuff back, but they're missing those two items. So, >> that's where we're at right now. >> Did I throw them away? >> Throw them on. Do you have them on under your face? >> No, I don't. And I don't have any. I offered to >> She said these just fall off. She said these just fell off. >> They're very easy to fall off. And so there's I know that there's like nine pairs of each in the bottom. I guarantee you there's at least two with those. >> There's not I ma'am I looked before we wasted your time. Our people out there are work looking. She either ditched them somewhere or where they can't be found or she's wearing them. Those are the only two options. There's no other option. >> The hangers the empty hangers were also found. So that's also an indication. >> Okay. >> Do you mind if I look in your bag? >> I I don't I do mind, but it's like cuz >> Okay. Do you mind if I look in the bag? Do you mind if I search the bag? >> Sure. Do you understand they're trying to work with you and just get their stuff back? >> Yes. And I would I told them I would I mean, how can I go look? My thing is I went in twice to the dressing room and the first time it was a younger girl that helped me and I gave everything back and that was when those tags fell off. So they were on the hangers without the tags. I put the tags in my bag. I just didn't want to say sorry these fell off blah blah blah. So when I went into the dressing room to get rid of everything and leave those I put outside with the bra paddings that I had. Officers suspected that the missing items were actually being worn by the woman, but she had no intention of allowing any inspection. Her refusal to cooperate quickly frustrated the store representative. >> What about the >> This isn't the f this isn't this isn't our first rodeo. So, we know our we know our our our laws and what we need to do. She knows hers. >> We can press charges on everything that you can see, which is a felony charge in the state of Florida. It's over $1,000. You will go to jail. Alls I'm saying, ma'am, very kindly and nicely is we want our stuff back. Tell me and where you ditched them. Save all these people's nice time. We will we will trespass you from the store and we never have to see each other again. You can't go into another dealers for seven years. >> And it's it it's that simple. Or we she has to take out and take put your handcuffs on, walk you out store, and you have to go to jail. I Okay, I can I go with you and her now the entire time to please tell me the truth. I am a person. >> They're going to be on a hanger in one of three spots or on the floor by the dresses. That's it. All right. >> She's going to walk. So, if you want to escort her as well >> to show them where she thinks that it's, she just showed a yellow strap. So, but she won't really she won't show it. But just in case she tries to check. >> Are these these same tags? >> Are these the tags? >> Yes. Okay. >> They're all They've already checked. Every one of them had tags on it. >> We checked every one. We got our own one. Hold on. I'll just >> So, the whereabouts of those two missing items remained a mystery hidden behind the woman's deception. With no sign of cooperation and the evidence continuing to mount, officers made their decision. >> Put your hands right back. Okay. I'm not I'm not >> I just have like a bad shoulder. >> Okay. >> To um >> but I'll go wherever you want. >> Take her back to the room or you want to take her right to the court. >> Well, from here we're going to take you to jail and then you will see a judge. Judge? A jail? >> I've never been. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Like down like the courthouse? >> Yes. Downtown. >> Downtown. >> And then how long do you want to stay? >> Uh, it all depends. It all depends on how uh the uh whatever time the judge uh your case comes up. Could be late, could be today, could be tomorrow. I can't give you a definite time. broke off. [clears throat] >> From the amount of merchandise she stole, it was highly likely that she was stealing the items to resell them illegally. She appeared to be completely professional at it. And even the employees statements reinforce that impression. >> 44 in the fitting room. So I know what I put in there. She comes out. She has two items in her hand. Now the items that she went in there with and we went in the fitting room. We went in there and I asked to check her bag and then she refused to walk to the fitting room and then she shut the door and start taking items off her bag. And then she admitted to us that she had put them in her bag. >> She admitted to you? >> Yeah. >> At in the fiddle. >> Okay. Admitted to you in the f. All right. No problem. And uh what time did you guys observe her? >> It was around 4:25. >> 4:25. Perfect. >> Was when I want to It was probably like that's when I was looking at my phone. I know it was 4:25, but it was before that. I was still watching her probably around like 4:15. >> 411. >> 411. >> So she got here at 4:11. >> Oh, no. They were >> That's when she called. >> We came out at 4:11 and we're incident. just told you >> and that all went down later on. >> Oh, when I called you, >> she called me. >> So, she called me at 3:48. So, she was in the store. >> 3:30. >> Oh, she was Okay. >> She's been here for a while. Yeah. I was in the back and she called me to come and and >> So, what was she doing during that time when she first got here? >> Okay. So, I was putting stuff back, right? And then I see she had a bunch of items. >> Uh-huh. >> And I offer her help and she's like, "No, no, no. I'll go in with you." So, that was the first round she was doing. And I saw everything she took in there. She took more than cuz she left she came out and she left six items out. She had more than six items when she went the first time. So that's when I called my manager. She was >> After an exhausting search for the missing merchandise, the woman finally decided to come clean. As it turned out, the items they had been looking for were never far away at all. >> No. >> Do you have them? >> Yeah. >> And I just don't want to do it in front of her. So it's up to if I don't see her again, I'll give it to you now. somehow being go to the bathroom, whatever it is. But if she's going to be involved more, I don't want to do it here. I just don't. So, whatever that I don't want to see her, she's been absolutely [clears throat] okay. You I have an I have underwear on as well. So, if you just My shoulders are So, you just want to pull those down. >> Mhm. >> Okay. I think at least more than one. This is totally like just like the it's not normal. I mean to do this not normal. My day has not been like like worst [snorts] day ever. So this is this is the dumbest thing I could have done. [snorts] I have my sports bra in my bag that [snorts] I'm sure I can't wear. >> They're they're going to take it from you anyway. So, they're gonna give you give you clothes to wear this. And I just keep my jacket on. >> Keep your shirt on. >> So, [snorts] that has a tag on it. That has a tag on it. >> And no more bottoms. Just the one bottoms. Not you don't have the bottoms to this one. >> I don't have No, I don't have anything else. Okay. I mean, it was two totally different scenarios and everything was like, don't talk to me. I said, I'm really sorry. She goes, "I'll walk you out. You >> make it a 44 ID." And I gave it to her. You can't come to any other. And the other woman just screamed and came out and yelled and dragged me back in all the security and all this stuff. She's saying, "Where is this?" And I said, "To go to go." It was just outrageous. It was just like I just froze out >> and waited for you guys. And then, you know, I I don't have any other priors and I don't I don't know what it even means to go to jail. Finally, the woman was charged with grand theft for stealing merchandise valued at over $1,000. People who think they can outsmart everyone often forget one thing. The truth usually takes longer to uncover, but it almost always catches up in the end. Let's take a break from the shoplifting cases and witness the chaotic ordeal involving this woman. >> I know my rights. I'm a I'm a nurse. I see youCU 20 years. Don't with me. You know my rights. Let's go. Wait, wait, wait. On the 4th of December 2025, deputies responded to a disturbance call from a residential neighborhood. The suspect was reported to be a woman behaving erratically. And by the time deputies arrived, she had already climbed into the back of a patrol car. Here's what happened next. >> I thought he was right down the street. What the is this? >> A nurse. >> Hey, 20 years. I'm not dealing with this dispers. >> What is this? >> She told me to get in your car. >> Is that the dispatcher? Yeah. >> Okay, you can hang up now. We're here. >> Well, come on. I want to go. >> Can you tell us what's going on first? >> Come on. I want to go. >> Go where? >> I want to go to the hospital right now. >> For what? What's the matter with you that you need to go? >> I have to go to the hospital. I want to go right now. >> Okay. Fire Rescue needs a reference and you're going to be thinking. >> Come on. No, you don't get No, you don't get to No. I know my rights. I'm a I'm a nurse. I see you CCU in 20 years. Don't with me. Let's go. Take it back. >> The ambulance is gonna come check. Okay, >> let's go. >> Mom. Hey, mom. >> Hey. >> And you don't get to advise my mother of I'm I'm her in care. I'm in care of my mother. So, you don't get to talk to my mother in any way. Get me? >> Would you trust this nurse to care for you or your loved ones? In her condition, every claim she made about her professionalism seemed meaningless. Instead, her crude behavior only escalated the tension even further. >> What address did you come from? >> None of your business. >> What kind of business is you called the police? >> Leave me the alone. Pigs, man. I hate the police. >> Well, why'd you call us then? >> I didn't want to call you. I called the ambulance. You showed up. >> Okay. Well, the ambulance is here. >> Well, good. Then walk me in the ambulance then. Where's the ambulance? Where is the ambulance? I want to walk in the ambulance. >> Oh, wait. That's a trash. Oh, >> no. It's behind the >> trash. Trash. >> Okay. >> Stupid mother. 20 years. >> 20 years. I see you. CC you. Leave me the alone. Let's go. Let's go. And I want a certain hospital to go to >> Yeah. Well, we'll let the ambulance handle that. Okay. >> Yeah, you will. Oh, and you're you're not going to torture me back here, sir. >> Well, you're on camera. There's not going to show any torture. >> I know. And you're not going to close the door, either. How funny. >> We're not. Yeah, it's been open. >> No. Hey, look at these pigs. HELP. No like the police. Just to tell you, let you. Like, you should know that. We all hope you die for real. >> Come on, man. Let's go. I want I want to be out OF THEIR CARE NOW. >> With her actions, facing criminal charges was inevitable. Yet moments later, she tried to flee as if nothing serious had happened, triggering an even more chaotic confrontation. >> Let's go. [laughter] >> Wait, wait, wait. >> Hey, your hands behind your back. Put your hands behind your back. Almost. Hey, >> put your Put your other hand behind your back. >> Put your other hand behind your back. >> Put your other hand behind your back. >> Break my arms. >> Stop. >> Ma'am, >> shut up. >> Are you hurt by you? You pig. Where is he? >> Yeah, >> scumbag. I hope you die. >> I HOPE YOU DIE. [screaming] >> HEY, DO you mask? >> Yeah, we need a spit mask. >> Stop. Just relax. >> I hate I just want to point out that the moment she spat at the officers, her actions could easily elevate the case to a felony. Naturally, the deputies had to take measures to protect themselves from further assault. >> Do not bite me. Do not put your self on me, you fat pig. I hate the police. >> Okay, that's all right. >> God damn, man. You guys with your cowboy hat. >> Just relax, >> man. These comebacks. >> Hey, you want to sit on this cooler so we can take your blood pressure? >> Get my >> You want to sit on this cooler so we can take your blood pressure? >> Yeah, I will for you, not for me. >> Bend your knee. Bend your knee. No. >> Bend your knee. >> No, he's trying to hide. Hey, keep kicking my vape. Keep kicking my vape, scumbag. I saw what you just did in the grass. >> Yeah. Yo, why' you do that? Why' you do that? Why are you doing that? That's illegal. Is that not >> That's my personal property. No. Get my vape. It's right there. Right there. >> We don't need her pass. >> No, I'm not on anything. I'm not on anything. I'm a nurse of 20 years. Are you kidding me? What's your name, dear? >> Don't the house. >> I'm trying to help you out, so help me help you. >> If you didn't notice, the ambulance crew the woman had been demanding was already on the scene. Yet, even then, she barely acknowledged them as if getting medical help was never really her priority. >> HEY, KICK ALL MY OVER THERE. HEY, PLEASE PICK UP my big nurse at 20 years. What scum? What scumbags? I hope you all die. I called for a ambulance. >> Who's the ambulance for? For your mom or for you? >> Why you need an ambulance? >> When they get here, I need to tell them something that hand in a hurry. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> We were clear. We get to there and they're screaming on the radio to set up the stage and back out. I'm like, >> who told you to do that? >> Why? We're getting over it. >> Yeah, cuz we're both standing here like, "What the hell?" >> You're so scared. You're so scared. You're so scared. >> I wouldn't. >> Don't do that. >> Don't tell me what to do. >> Don't do that. Oh, you don't do that. >> Get off of me. Leave me alone. >> I'm not hurting you. Leave me alone. >> Yep. Don't do that. Don't do that. Is she trying to >> then? Leave me alone. Leave me alone. >> Yeah, they're a little loose. >> Don't hurt me. >> Hold on. >> Don't hurt me. Hey, they're hurting me. Yeah, all of them are >> finger. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Police nurse for 20 years. >> I see you. CC you. HELP ME. >> THE WOMAN WAS INITIALLY charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence and resisting an officer without violence. The two resisting charges were later dropped and the felony battery charge was reduced to simple battery to which she pleaded guilty. Do you think the outcome of this case was fair? Was the sentence appropriate for her actions? Let me know your thoughts. Next, [music] the woman believed that her circumstances were enough to avoid responsibility. >> Yeah, she hands back these items to one of the selfch checkout advocates and she takes these items. I >> want to apologize. I'm going through a rough time. >> Okay. >> I mean, that's it. On the 17th of October 2025, officers responded to a target after reports of a shoplifting incident. The suspect allegedly skipped scanning multiple items in an attempt to leave without paying. This was what happened when police arrived at the scene. >> Um, this lady, Lilia, she stole about $100 worth of merchandise check out. >> We've seen her do it a couple times before. Um, but this time we had enough evidence to >> do something. Yeah. >> Okay. Hello. Hello. You guys have the uh camera footage pulled up already? Uh you have the footage of a hurting. >> Do you have an ID? >> Yeah. >> Let me get that, please. >> Am I being arrested? >> Uh for right now, you're giving me your ID. I got to look into some stuff first. Okay. Can you see? This is the >> That's the stuff we got there. That's what she attempted to walk out with. >> So, what's the full total? It's >> like 91. >> Okay. Yeah. And it's this merchandise right here. >> Okay. >> Here's a video about this I'll check out. Okay. See if I want 203. Can I have the report number for the retail? Everything seemed clear. The evidence and employees statements pointed directly to her guilt while officers reviewed the surveillance footage before deciding how to proceed. >> So, none of that's been scanned yet? >> Yeah. She hands back these items to one of the selfch checkckout advocates and she takes the go straight over there. >> [bell] >> And then she grabs those items, bags them, and then she exits through the grocery doors, and that's when Maddie and Erica approach her video. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Can I see that part real quick? Is it right there? >> Tell me if the file is clear. >> So, I'm coming up here. Okay, perfect. Yeah, we'll just >> All right. So, since we're not a felony, depending on what the CQH comes back as, we'll do uh village citations and then I'm assuming you want to trespass to >> Yeah, we for trespasses. >> Okay. >> In reality, with about $100 in stolen goods, it would not be enough to qualify as a felony. However, with multiple prior incidents, the situation becomes very different. By this point, her remorse had come too late. And she grabs those items, bags them, and then she exits through the grocery doors, and that's when Maddie and Eric bro. >> Okay. Can I see that part real quick? Is it right there? >> Tell me files clear. So, I'm coming up here. Okay, perfect. >> Yeah, we'll just >> All right. So, since we're not a felony, depending on what the CQH comes back as, We'll do uh village citations and then I'm assuming you want to trespass too. >> Yeah, we gave her one by trespasses. You guys >> Thank you. >> All right. So, do you want to tell me what was going on? What happened? >> I I >> It's for right now since you are detained, right? You're not free to leave and everything. So, I'm just going to read you Miranda rights just while I have you here before you start answering anything. Okay. All right. So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be against used against you >> in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney, right? If you cannot afford an >> So, she tried to use her personal circumstances as an excuse to reduce responsibility for her actions, but a crime is still a crime. Officers explained to her what she would be facing next. So, pursuant to 720 ILCS 5/21-382 criminal trespass real property, you are informed that your presence at the above indicated address here at the target um is no longer permitted. Should you choose to return to said property at any future time, you will be subject to arrest and prosecuted for such offense, a class B misdemeanor. Okay. Target, this is the address. It means you cannot come back to this target. Okay. Not to any other target. You can go to other ones. Just this one not. Okay. Does that make sense? >> Okay. Do you guys need to make a copy of this right now? >> Well, we already have it in the system. >> We'll have video. >> No. I I know I asked you about the retail thefts. Have you ever been involved in any kind of theft before where you were arrested? >> Yeah. I just told her I was like younger. It was some years ago. >> Okay. Okay. Well, regardless of that, um, since we do have prior convictions on you about this, so you are going to be processed and taken to the police department. So, for right now, I need you to take the bag off. >> You're going to like So, take the bag off. It's okay. All right. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. Take the bag all the way off. >> Okay. We're just going to put it right here. It'll go with you, but I don't want to handcuff you and then your bag's flopping around. >> All right. >> Are these too tight a little bit? Which one? Both of them. >> All right. Is that better? >> Yeah. What about this one? Is this too tight? It's fine. >> It's fine. Can you secure this? >> What does that mean? >> So, we'll explain everything to you when we get back to the station. So, like I said, you're going to be processed. >> The woman was charged with retail theft under $300. Personal circumstances may explain behavior, but they do not erase responsibility when the evidence clearly proves intent and repeated wrongdoing. Next, this woman stole during Thanksgiving as if the holiday gifts belong to her. >> All the clothes and stuff. >> Yeah. All this stuff right here >> and right here. >> They're going to jail for theft. Okay. >> What is the What is the state jail? What is it? >> State jail felony. >> No. >> On the 30th of March 2024, police received a report from Walmart about a woman who pushed a cart full of Easter baskets and related merchandise out of the store without paying. When approached, both the suspect and her companions suspiciously denied everything. >> Ma'am. Hi. Can I talk to you? >> Who's all in the car with you? >> Why? So, we got a call from Walmart saying that you stole some items from them. >> Not me. I wouldn't I didn't even go in Walmart. >> You weren't in Walmart? >> No, ma'am. >> Okay. Okay. And then how many other people are inside the car? >> Relax. You just put your stuff down for me. Do you have an ID on you? >> Yes. >> Okay. There's more inside. >> My baby in there, ma'am. I was just giving them a ride. Yeah. I don't know what's going on. I was just giving them rides. She told me to take some back. So, >> hey, sir. Officer Anthony police department. Stop the platform, please. We got a report about a shoplifting that occurred at Walmart. They just grabbed this vehicle and they grabbed you. They just grabbed that female there. Okay. You have any weapons on you? >> Okay. I'm going to check for weapons. Okay. Just turn around. Face away from me. You're not under arrest. Okay. You're just a tank. Just like that. Just a four-y old vehicle. Really? >> Okay. Have a seat on the curb right here. You got your ID on you? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I ain't got time for this cuz I'm dealing with CPS. I just closed my >> So, who were you giving a ride? Who is that in there? >> No. >> Who is she to? >> Um, she's my home girl, but that's her boyfriend. >> She said she got her in fact. >> I need your ID. >> Three suspects were identified, making the case far more complicated. One remained silent. Another tried to steer the conversation elsewhere, while the third calmly denied everything, as if they were all professionals at this. The report that we got accurately described this gentleman and that and that lady there. Okay. And the car. All right. And the merchandise that's in >> what? >> They stole over $100 worth of Easter merchandise which is in the car right now. Okay. >> Were you aware of this? >> He was not. He was coming over here to get our car and was >> You're going to go back in and pay for it? >> No. >> This is about shoplifting. They saw you shoplift from Walmart. Okay. Is that your girl? >> No. >> So they were stealing. >> Who's that? >> Frank. >> Frank. Did she steal? >> No. >> No one stole? >> No. >> Did you go into Walmart? >> Nope. >> Yeah. Did you get anything? >> Nope. >> Okay. >> I don't know what they was doing, ma'am. I was just giving her a ride and Yeah. I needed the gas. I promise you. >> Yeah. So, what's the issue? You didn't pay for it before you left the store is the issue. That's called stealing theft, right? >> Actually, I was looking for my boyfriend. >> Okay. So, she said um she got her income tax to give her a ride and uh she was going to give me some gas and I needed the gas cuz I just got my car cuz I had got my income tax. >> I haven't seen her in like in a long time. My case closed. >> Your case for what? uh CPS and I don't need all this. I just need gas, ma'am. I swear. >> People exited the store with merchandise without paying for that merchandise, which is a criminal offense, which is why we are here. Does that make sense? >> That does make sense. I really didn't ask him anything. I don't know what to tell. >> To get a clearer picture of what had happened, one officer entered the loss prevention office where employees provided surveillance footage along with their statements. stuff. I watched her earlier where she she didn't have like she started selecting like the clothing, the Easter basket >> cuz I felt like I was left. You know what I mean? >> Like your boyfriend left you >> right with the card to pay for the I got >> because she said that she got two bunnies and she didn't need it. She didn't need the two bunnies because she don't have enough. She don't got no more money and she needs to pay me my gas. That's exactly what she just said. So then she gave me the stuff and I was about to take it and then she like walked the front pacing around, kept looking at the doors and finally uh she cut through. >> Were the other two with her or >> the guy was but he wasn't with her the whole time and I don't know if she tried to ask for a receipt but they just walked on on by with the stuff and I they were already out in the parking lot by the time I could stop them. >> Yeah. Do you have video? >> Yeah, I'm pulling up video of everything. All those items she was selecting Easter baskets. I'm trying to remember what time I started like an Easter basket. >> So I was in there, we were shopping for stuff Easter obviously and then like I thought he left me and he went to the restroom. I was looking for my credit card. He had it. But I was on the phone with my friend and she was making it more than what it was. She was like, "Oh, he probably took off on you. He probably left with some." As I'm walking like with the basket, I'm like talking to him. I was not even aware like at the moment literally. And that's when my friend was like, "We're all going to go back in here with the stuff and pay for it >> cuz he had my card." >> Okay. Yeah, that's not what she's saying. So that's completely contradicting her earlier denials. The woman tried to shift the blame onto her boyfriend instead of admitting to stealing the merchandise. By that point, the officers had seen enough to make their decision. >> See, how are y'all considering this theft? >> Cuz you passed all points of sale without paying for it. >> We were right here going back. Like we literally I talked to the employees >> and when we got here you were sitting in the car. That's the pickle that we're in. That's the predicament that we're trying to work through >> where I seen her cut through the register, go to the restroom. I was like, "Dang her." And then she walked out the door with us. It's too criminal. >> Hi. Do you want to stick her? >> So she is going to stay with us. You want to stick her? What I'm going to do is grab the property that came from Walmart out of your car. >> Okay. >> And then you are going to be good to go. >> [laughter] >> All right. All right. Hi. >> Cuz you deserve it. I swear. I promise you. >> So, like I said, a little a little patience. I didn't know if you were going to go with us or if you're involved in it, but >> No, I'm not. >> It appears that you're going to once we get our prop or Walmart's property. You guys are going to get out of here. >> We have a car. Can you work with us, please? So, >> you have a card. >> Okay. Well, we're past that. Okay. >> So, what's going to happen next is go ahead and put your cigarette out. We're going to put you handcuffs and we're going to escort you back there. Okay, just >> put your hands behind your back. Stand up for us. >> You have anything in your pockets? >> I probably do. >> Immediately after successfully taking the suspect into custody, officers began recovering the merchandise from the vehicle. The sheer amount of stolen goods raised an obvious question. How could she remain so calm and keep making excuses with that much merchandise sitting in the car? All this right here. >> All the clothes and stuff. >> Yeah. >> All this stuff right here. >> Okay. >> And right here. >> She said that to come bring her out here to this one because they don't have a max. They don't got a max on the return. Gotcha. >> Yeah. Uhhuh. >> What pill is this with a star print on it? >> What is that? >> Is that a seat? >> I don't know what that is. >> You don't know what this this pill is? >> I just put on my boyfriend. >> This is your boyfriend's? >> Yeah, >> that's his. Unfortunately, it's on you. So, got custody of that. >> All right, let's have a seat back here, please. By this point, the woman had broken down in tears inside the patrol car, but it did not appear to be out of remorse. Instead, it seemed like yet another attempt to gain sympathy and continue making excuses for her actions. >> Miss Leblanc, >> please ask the manager no more. >> You were under arrest for theft, >> but I had talked to the employee. I did. I talked to the employee. >> Miss Lanc, I watched copious amounts of video. I know you've been lying to my person. >> Me and my boyfriend was right there together. I was looking for him. I even had them page him and everything, but he's not telling you the truth of the >> That's something you're going to have to raise with them in the process. They want to pursue charges. >> Why? No. Please, can I talk to the manager? Please, can I talk to the manager? >> Manager. This isn't a situation where you get to talk to the manager. You are under arrest for theft. >> Just please talk to the manager, please. >> It's time to go. We're going to go to Winston County. >> Please talk to the manager. Please, sir. >> Can I please talk to the manager? >> Miss Leon, >> you're going to jail for theft. Okay. What is the what is the state jail? What is the >> state jail felony? >> No. >> Because you have two prior convictions for them about police. We're going to move you to a separate police car. Okay. >> So, what is the what's happening now? >> How long you'll be there? You're going to see a judge in the morning right there. >> Did you see me with my boyfriend right there? >> I understand. The woman was charged with theft with the offense elevated due to her prior theft convictions, while the other individuals were provisionally considered uninvolved and were released without charges. Learn to take responsibility for your actions because [music] excuses may delay the consequences, but they rarely prevent them. When clear evidence exists, honesty often does more good than endless attempts to avoid accountability. >> Paid for some stuff and I left this I didn't leave this store. I was like only out like just checked out. >> Oh, I'm so embarrassed. Please, >> it happens. Listen, it happens. >> On the 5th of December, 2023, police were dispatched to a Target store after receiving reports of a theft. The suspect was believed to be a woman who deliberately pushed a full shopping cart containing multiple unpaid items. These were the events that unfolded at the scene. >> Hi, ma'am. >> Hi. >> I'm Officer Vuchi with the Euchan Police Department. >> What happened today? >> Um, uh, no, no, I don't know. I thought I thought you the police weren't coming. >> Oh my gosh. >> Listen. I'm I'm just trying to figure out what's what's going on. Okay. So, what happened? >> My kids are in the car. >> So, listen, man. We are out with the kids, okay? They're okay. >> Oh my gosh. >> Just just just listen to me real quick. Okay. Just stay calm. >> Just try and take a deep breath. Okay. Um obviously the gentleman here sounds like you tried to bag some items and leave the store. Okay. Can you just [music] be honest with us and just tell us what happened today? >> Yes. I just >> I had some stuff in a bag that I didn't want my kids to see that was for Christmas that I was going I didn't mean to take all of it. >> Okay. >> And I paid for some stuff and I left this I didn't leave the store. I was like only out like just checked out. >> Okay. Did you walk past the register after you checked out with those items that weren't paid for? >> Yes. It's like I went to the selfch checkout and I bought some stuff. Yes. >> So, the woman had admitted her actions but tried to avoid responsibility by claiming she had only done it unintentionally. All of it had no effect because the police had already decided their course of action. >> I'm being arrested. >> Yeah. So, shop with things. They uh >> Oh my god. >> Still cry. >> I'm going to call my husband or something. Man, listen. Listen. >> You got Let me Let me get your handcuffs, >> man. Listen to me. Okay. What we're going to do is once we get all this figured out here, you got it. We're good. Okay. >> Oh my god. >> It's okay. Listen. >> Have you ever done this before? >> No. >> Okay. So, listen. >> I'm just gonna give you a piece of paper >> and you're gonna leave tonight from from from our police department. You're not going to the jail. You have no warrants or anything like >> and you just got to make sure you attend that court date. Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. >> What's um what do you know your husband's phone number? >> Not off the top of my head. My cell phone is right there. Oh my god. >> So, do you mind if we uh do you mind do you mind if we go in there? get to me. He can't get to me. He doesn't have a cord to get to me. >> Does he have a >> I don't know. I don't know. >> Relax. [laughter] Hey, take here. >> In addition, the police's main concern at that moment was that the woman still had family members in the vehicle. They tried to arrange someone to pick them up, but her panic made the situation harder to manage. >> Um, keep scroll down. Scroll. Keep scrolling down. Keep scrolling down. Usually he's there if he's closer. >> You keep scrolling down. >> It should say Russell. >> Can I find him in contacts? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> It'll say >> Okay. So, let's do Is that right right here? Ice Hus. >> No, that's not him cuz he's he's his phone broke so he's using an iPad right now. >> Okay. [laughter] >> Is this it right here? Russell new. >> Is that the 609459? should say text now because he's using an iPad. >> It's um >> Oh, right. right right here. >> The text now number. >> Can you keep going? I just want to make sure it's right. Keep going. >> That's as far as it goes. >> Oh my gosh. Where is it? >> Is it this red one right here? It says Russ. >> The third one from the bottom. Text now. There. Yes. No way even get to me though. Listen. Listen. >> Listen. We'll figure it out. Okay. We're going to figure it out. >> My kids. >> Listen. We're going to figure it out. Okay. >> All right. >> Oh, I'm so embarrassed. Please. >> It happens. Listen, it happens. [laughter] >> I'm right over the Mexican border. >> Gotcha. All right. So, I'm going to put this right back in your purse. >> Okay. >> Put this license in there as well, so I don't lose. Do >> you have anything in your pockets? >> No. >> Okay. No weapons or anything like that? >> No. >> Okay. >> Just putting your license. >> Are you guys able to get the surveillance? >> Yeah. So, they're they're >> It can be said that by this point, the woman's remorse came too late as she could no longer change anything. The police had to calm her down to prevent her panic from leading to further problems. >> So embarrassed. There's no excuse for it. I'm I've never been in trouble for anything. >> So listen, that's that's going to work in your favor. Everybody Everybody makes makes mistakes. Everybody's entitled to second chances and that's what we're trying to do. Okay? So all we're trying to we got to we got to do what we we got to do. >> But the most important thing is what we do after this, right? >> So we learn we we learn our we learn our lesson. and we move forward. Life goes on. And like I said, at the end of the day, it's going to be a piece of paper that that you're going to get with a court date. Just make sure you go to that court date, be honest, and they're the the courts are very flexible. They're very um but like I said, the demeanor, everything, okay? So, we document everything that we have here. So, just stay cooperative with us. We can work with you. I'm trying to see if uh we're going to be able to cut you loose from here. >> Okay. >> So, you just got to give me a couple minutes. >> Thank you. >> All right. >> Uh you got you got her license, Joe. I can check her. >> Yeah, everything's everything's in here real quick. >> If you want to stay here, I'm going to go put these in a car. >> Let me get her in there. Right here. >> Just like a traffic ticket. >> All right. I'm going to go check her real quick and then um >> You want to put these in her car or what? You want to do >> put these in my car? After that, the police noted that the woman had no prior warrants or arrests, indicating this was likely her first offense. Given that the value of the goods was below felony level, they then made a different decision regarding how to handle the case. >> Sit out of my car here just till you get out and get to your kids just so we make sure they're okay. >> Stand out for me. >> Thank you. >> I'm so sorry. >> Listen, L happens like I said, now it's now it's all about learning from your mistakes, right? >> Yes. I'm so sorry. Every once in a while they uh catch >> this one. You said have you ever been? No. >> There we go. >> So 29 Tucker Road and Daniel everything. >> Yes. Okay. >> Great for 5.3. >> You're good. So, so, so what's gonna have happen is I'm gonna fill out the paper paperwork for you at the at the police department. You're going to get in the mail. Okay? >> There's gonna be a court date associated with that. Make sure you attend that. >> Okay? >> If you have a lawyer or >> that's totally up to you. Um, I can't make you any kind of suggestions for any legal purposes or anything like that. I'm not allowed to do that. >> So, here's your old driver's license. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Um, so basically what I can do is um I can basically recommend to you there's a phone number that's going to be at the bottom. It's going to be the court's phone number. >> If you need if if you need any kind of alterations for court dates, if you need any time, if you did want to get representation or anything, >> call that number. >> Call that number. Let them know you just need a little little bit of time. Let them know you got kids. You got >> They'll be willing to work with you. Most things are um virtual anyway. >> Okay. >> Um so you can always request that it be a a virtual hearing. Um but um other than that, pretty you're pretty much going to going to be good. Just make sure you keep an eye on that in the mail. >> In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting and then released shortly after with a court date scheduled for her appearance. The key lesson is that cooperation and honesty during the investigation may not prevent arrest, but they can influence how the case is processed and how quickly it moves
