What did she actually steal? >> Oh, you want to tell us some of the clothes. >> So, this is what she actually purchased? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. And now they're ringing up what she took? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> Do you have information so I can go ahead and get a band for >> She crossed >> Where's your baby? >> She at the house. >> I'm copying that. >> She three months old and it is a [ __ ] up cuz she this is her doing and she you ran and you left me and now you got your child. She like scan a couple and then throw hell of them in the bag. >> Yeah, and then I saw that she had a pile like that on the >> So, no friend was seen as the suspect had claimed it was entirely the woman acting alone. At that point, officers explained this to her. Watch how she responded. >> So, what I saw on the camera, ma'am, was you scanning food items and then you put a big pile of clothes into the bag area bagging area. >> No, I took them clothes out that bucket and I told him to move them and put them in the thing cuz he tried to stick them in the bag. >> I I watched you put them in the bag and put them in your tote. >> Tell her the ones I paid for. >> They were not scanned. >> Which ones were not scanned? She was also formally issued a trespass warning from the Walmart. Actions driven by panic and dishonesty only make the situation worse. Taking responsibility early can prevent far more serious consequences. >> [music] >> Next, the woman was completely exposed by the surveillance cameras. >> Let's go. over there. She got the receipt for everything she paid for. why I am >> Is it both of them? >> Yeah. >> [music] >> On the 16th of May, 2025, police were dispatched to Walmart's loss prevention office after receiving a report of a theft. Both of you. >> Come over here for what? >> We'll explain to you in a minute. >> Let's go over there. >> She got the receipt for everything she paid for. >> Is it both of them? >> Yeah, both. >> Both of them. >> This is crazy. >> They want to talk to you right now. You want to do it in public or you want to do it private? >> He said he saw me. So why would y'all stop me? He didn't see me. He said it was not me. He said the green pants. >> You said what? You can't tell me that I did anything. >> They have you on camera. Listen. Let's figure it out. >> Okay. I just want to I'm going to sit right here. >> That's what it is. You guys wait until they're finished. Maybe it's just nothing and you guys can go, okay? >> No, I'm going to take my stuff. She even demanded verification to make it seem like she truly did nothing wrong. >> Okay. I'll sign the first. Open the first. Why do I have to open my Can you show me the camera? Show me. Okay, show me the camera. >> Let me show me. >> That's where it started. That's where y'all Right in the first. >> Show me the footage. >> You guys want to complain? >> Yep. It ain't going nowhere. It's on camera. >> Although she had witnessed the footage capturing her own actions, she acted as if she wanted to pursue legal action just to reinforce her claim to the police. At that moment, despite reluctance, the officers proceeded to arrest her. >> So we do want a complaint action, right? All right, go ahead. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. You're under arrest. >> This side This this side is hers. She brought this with her. >> Okay. >> 421 >> 421 on the Cut. >> You have gloves? Can I see? >> Once you have that, you can go ahead. >> I know what I have to say to you. >> Okay. My supervisor >> You can't I want to take >> You can't take it off. We just got to check it. >> So embarrassing that you do >> At least we're in here doing it. >> Yeah, but like can you put it back on at least? >> Yeah, I searched her checks. I did. I told you that. >> The other woman was also confirmed to be innocent and was released. And to reinforce that, the police reviewed the surveillance footage which clearly showed that only one woman had committed the act. >> Well, not her face, like just her in the aisle like putting something in it. Yeah. >> She was folding it and putting it in the purse. >> You able to burn a copy of this for me and I'll get it tomorrow maybe? >> Yeah, that's fine. You want me to just leave um the entire file just together for you? >> Yeah, just put it together and just leave it here. come in early in the morning, so I'll probably come through like 7:00 or 8:00. A n g >> i n a >> Last name? >> The woman was charged with retail theft. Crime caught on camera leaves no room for denial. Facing the truth early can prevent consequences from escalating beyond control. Next, these shoplifters made their simple act of theft far more serious. >> You got to bring me the in this in this cut right here in the chill something in that suitcase. You okay? She hurts. Ma'am? >> On the 2nd of November 2023, police received a report from Walmart about a theft that had occurred. The suspects were believed to be a woman and a man who secretly concealed merchandise inside a purse and a suitcase. To be more specific, take a look at the surveillance footage captured by the store. >> She work with She work with that guy or what? Are they together type of deal? >> They weren't together when she was doing it, but they They didn't make They didn't make up and he got to bring me the uh in this in this cut right here in the chill something in that suitcase. >> What do they work for? Right there? Okay. >> I can't get no good angle on them. >> That's good enough for me. Yeah. >> I'll check inside I'll check inside of the suitcase. Don't get it again. >> What is the suitcase in there? >> Yeah, cuz he wouldn't pick that up. He put two of them in there. He uh He He He put things up in the chill. >> So, what was clothes and and a purse? >> Yeah, she got clothes in the purse. >> Okay. >> I'm trying to find the last shot I froze it on. >> Yeah. >> Nobody wears those anymore. >> She didn't look inside that huge suitcase. I think there's stuff inside that too. >> Oh yeah, we're going to check. >> Cuz he just handed it to you. >> Last time I did this, we got in a fight about it. Oh yeah, yeah. >> Don't worry, we're working on this again. >> We're going to give him plenty of guilt. Give him a running start. >> Did that hurt me, though? >> [laughter] >> Do you have Do you have a fanny pack on? >> He has like a little man bag. >> I mean, he's probably having a minor violation of that. >> Yeah, I was thinking about that. He's got the tattoos. Is it him or her? You don't know if it's him or her? I'm going to switch to the front. >> I'm going to be by the pool. >> All right. >> The moment they passed the final point of sale, the police had been waiting for this opportunity, and they immediately became panicked by the sudden surprise created by the officers. >> Hey guys, I'm with police. >> Just for the record, what is your name? >> Ma'am, come here. Look. Come here. Look this. Stop. >> Ow. >> Huh? You okay? Show your hands. Ma'am. Stop tensing up. >> No, I just want to put this down. >> Put your phone up there. Drop it. You okay? >> 33, you got about 1 minute. 33, do you want to wait for them? >> You have a gun in this? >> 33, you got about 1 minute. >> No, I'm going to take it off real fast. Who is she? Here, step over here. Okay, watch her now real quick. Face that way. You got a license, ma'am? >> Hello. >> You are? What's your first name? You got to think about it? >> No. Ooh. Going where? >> Ooh. This is suspicious purse. She probably didn't pay for it. Is there anything else in her purse she didn't pay for? Yes, she got >> The woman eventually admitted her actions after repeated attempts to evade, clearly suggesting they may have been involved in criminal activity before, and the police also raised suspicions about this. >> Have you been in trouble for anything? >> No, sir. >> Never? >> I've gotten arrested before, like resisting arrest. >> So, she has. >> Okay. >> Y'all from Louisiana? Y'all see a lot of alligators out there? What the alligators don't like the Cajuns? The rednecks? Oh. Yeah, you guys just got unlucky. We were actually doing a traffic stop and arrest like right outside the business. >> Oh, what? >> Uh, an arrest right outside the business. We had somebody on a traffic stop. >> Oh, on a traffic stop? >> Yeah. So, they called this in, but we were already here. What have you done in trouble for, Madison? >> I'm sorry? >> What have you done in trouble for? >> I had uh well, I got arrested once, but it was hard to dropped. >> For what? >> Um Uh Tampering with evidence. >> What'd you do? >> I didn't do anything. >> You didn't do anything? She a real one. That's good. >> The police proceeded to search the suspect's bags, and it could be said that what they found made the situation far more serious. >> Something wrong with that Louisiana? >> Yeah, totally. Jim. >> Come on, man. >> What's up, man? I asked you. >> I believed in you, Jim. I thought you were better than this. >> It's cocaine, Jim. >> Come on. >> It's cocaine. >> Come on, Jim. You're better than this. >> Pretty good little torch there, too. >> Yeah. You're better than this, man. Come on. I believed in you, Jim. I believed in you when you told me there there wouldn't none in there. >> And there's nothing else. >> And there's nothing else in there, buddy. I I swear to god I Come on, man. I believe in you. You disappointed me, Jim. >> Jim, what are you trying to burn down, dude? >> God damn. A torch? >> That's no joke, dude. >> That's a legit [laughter] torch. >> Literally, the only thing in here is drug stuff, dude. There's nothing else. This is your drug bag, huh? >> Is that why you lied about your name or not? >> I swear to god that's my >> That's your name? >> Okay. Well, they're going to find out. >> Under 4 oz or 4 g? >> Maybe right there. >> Maybe right there. I got a uh scale in the car. >> Yeah, I got one. >> You might be in luck, Jim. Cuz here in Harris County, if it's under 4 g, then we'll do a warrant for your arrest, okay? Instead of actually taking you in. >> All right, I'll put your phone all your wallet and everything back in here. Jim, I'll put your phone and your wallet and your torch and all that back in there, okay? >> Jim, you you anything in your shorts, ma'am? You sure? >> It didn't stop there. Even while escorting her to the patrol car, the police discovered further issues on the woman during the search. >> Over here. Hey. Did you take anything before before this? >> What do you mean? >> Did you take any I I know you all have drugs, so like this. What's that? >> Um I don't know what that is. >> You don't know what that is? It's in your pocket. >> I don't know. >> You sure? >> I don't know. >> You don't know? Okay. Now Now you're making me worried. Oh, there's another baggie. What are you going through the Qui- Qui- Quick. Don't Quick. Don't go through your pocket. Your back pocket, okay? >> Well, here. You want me to put quarters back in there? What? It was time though for stuff in my pockets. >> Is there anything in your back pocket? >> No. >> Ultimately, both suspects were charged with theft after being caught concealing merchandise while additional evidence, including drugs and dangerous items, >> [music] >> even a small crime can spiral into far more serious consequences when dishonesty and hidden actions continue to pile up. Next, even after being caught three times, the woman still felt no remorse. >> That's I do apologize. I do apologize. >> So >> You know I do have a baby. >> Mhm. We need to take care, okay? All right. You said to put nothing back for me, okay? >> Ow. >> I'm court-ordered. >> On the 14th of November, 2024, officers were dispatched to Target's loss prevention office after staff detained a woman suspected of committing fraud during checkout. Upon arrival, employees provided statements regarding the incident. >> Oh, what up, Duke? Good to see you. How you doing? >> Good. How are you, sir? >> Good, man. So, today I have Miss Angela Powell. Today she was in self-checkout with all of these using these tags to make it all cheaper. These are like $1.50 each. She had all of these like attached to like that. >> Okay. >> Hit hit my prosecution guidelines. This is for you. You can have that. I don't need that anymore, but I'll I'll let you take it over for me. >> Got you. >> Cuz I pretty much have mostly everything I need from her. >> Okay. Got you. Does she have an ID with you? >> Yes, I do. >> [snorts] >> Thank you. Yeah, you don't need to go in there. Not my house. >> Can you see your current address? >> On highway 30 138 in Springdale. >> Okay. All right. What happened today? >> This is switching out the baby. >> Okay. >> Police confirmed this was not their first encounter with the woman. She had committed similar acts before and it became even more evident when she began using manipulative tactics involving her circumstances. >> Department policy, I'm supposed to take you to Fayetteville jail right now. Did you get that purchase statement? >> I >> [music] >> I I I do have a baby. >> So >> But I I do have a baby. >> Mhm. But I'm sorry. >> Where's your family at? >> They're the ones that work. I don't have anyone to come get him. And I don't have anyone to come get him. >> I think you would rather have who you can probably come get him than we have to call to come get him. Yeah, yeah. I'm just >> have anyone to come get him. >> I I don't want you crying and all that, but >> Yeah, I don't have nobody to get >> You don't have nobody in your family? >> Where's your family at? >> They're the ones that work. >> Where? >> They work at Walmart. My mom works at This Is It, um, in Fayetteville. >> Fayetteville, you can call your mom? How many cars? >> I didn't know she was like on her period or something. She was like she was saving for something else. >> I'll come get >> So I'm >> The one I'm with, she said that we wanted to pre-charge her. And And we're going to have two more cases. So that's three in total. Seems like a lot. When did you uh leave chicken sandwich here? >> I left the chicken sandwich here in I want to say July or maybe August. >> Oh, that's where you used to work? >> Yes. >> The one brother? >> Mhm. >> I've never seen you in there. I I just got [laughter] No, I'm not saying you're lying. I'm just saying I never >> We got her in uniform right there. >> No, no, I'm just saying that I used to I'm sorry. >> Immediately afterward, loss prevention staff also uncovered past incidents linked to the woman and began confirming the total value of the losses. >> Um so this one back in August was uh 206. >> And today is how much? >> Today was 136. >> You ain't got no weapons or anything in the duffel bag, do you? >> No, sir. >> All right, thank you. Did you say 06? >> Huh? >> Did you say you were going to say 06? >> 16. >> 16. >> Is that yours? Oh, okay. I'm sorry. >> [laughter] >> I was going to say you was going to say 06. >> We look nothing alike. >> [laughter] >> With me having someone on the way where he has to go with him. >> That that's probably where we're going to be at. We're probably we're probably going to end up making both of y'all pay it and then we're going to charge you with shoplifting. You got [snorts] three here at this store. We got >> I guarantee you got a bunch of favorites. >> one at South South Fulton. >> Yeah, one at South Fulton. >> I got a bunch of favorites. >> Well, you was the one who just said that you was in favor of that day. So if we run your face through their system and we get up in any of their other cameras >> I I have a baby, y'all. >> I know. That's why you brought him with you. And you said it was Sweet Pea Street City cops. They're so nice and handsome and they didn't to me to jail. >> Well, I ain't got no >> proof of anything with me. >> Based on what had occurred, officers reached several conclusions and began explaining the situation to the woman. >> And if you do seven days three consecutive times cuz that would be considered a crime spree, then you would be getting a felony charge. But after a certain amount of convictions on um >> I thought you was going to say good thing is >> Oh, I mean >> ain't I getting a felony? >> Good thing is you ain't getting a felony. >> Yeah. >> Good thing is well, >> Yeah. >> Well, there is some good thing it is it's a misdemeanor. So, that means that you just >> You'll have a preset bond. >> Yeah, preset bond. >> Yeah. >> What does that mean? >> That means you don't have to see a judge. You'll go in, they'll book you in, you can be out probably about three or four hours. >> That's better than you spend the night. >> Oh, yeah. So, if my still talking to you on the >> on the >> Well, my uncle, he's an attorney, so he'd have to >> Oh, perfect. Yeah. Who's your uncle? >> Uncle Ronald Ronald Cochran. >> What's the um What is What's the amount of restitution? Actually, I can do her I can do her um I can do her citation for >> So, grandma was >> So, this is the one this is the one on Halloween that I asked her about right now to make sure what it is. This first time the first time I saw her cuz I saw her there it was familiar. Um this one was 206. >> Okay. >> That was on August 21st. And then today >> What did she What did she do the same thing? >> I'm saying what was her the tickets for? >> Mhm. >> 150? >> Yeah, man. >> No, yeah. Um it was >> [snorts] >> You said 206? >> Yeah. >> With three cases uncovered, the woman showed no remorse and it was clear she would not be released easily at that point. Officers proceeded with their course of action. >> All right, Ms. Powell, so what we're going to do is we're going to there, get you what you need to take care of, okay? All right, just stand and put your hands behind your back for me, okay? I'm going to walk you down there. It's unfortunate, but I do have to do it this way, okay? >> Okay. >> I'm going to lock them so they won't tighten up on you. You don't have anything on you, right? >> No, sir. >> All right. If If there's something that you don't tell me about and the jail finds it, if it's like just a little bit of weed, a little bit of blunt, and you have a weapon, it's automatic felony, okay? >> No. >> Okay. All right. All right. I'll get you everything now. >> You're all good. I am I still here? Our family. >> Ultimately, the woman was charged with multiple counts of retail theft after being linked to a series of fraudulent checkout incidents, repeated deception, and refusal to take responsibility will eventually expose a pattern of wrongdoing, turning minor offenses into far more serious consequences. Next, the deceitful man believed he could get away with stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars. >> I have about $920 in just 20s in his wallet. >> Uh they don't follow protocol there. They're very sloppy. There's money everywhere and everything. It's just doesn't surprise me. They just accused another guy of stealing money in the store a week ago. >> On November 29th, 2025, the police received a report call from Brinks regarding a large-scale cash theft. The officers promptly arrived at the scene to investigate what had happened based on statements from those involved. >> How's it going, sir? >> Good. >> So, what's going on? >> All right. I'm with We're both with Brinks. I'm with Brinks Security. And last Friday, the 21st, we had a messenger who went on route. Messengers are the ones that drive the armored vehicles. >> Right. >> Uh he checked out his route and one of the bags, like midstream, he didn't finish his route. He only did three and then he came back, made an excuse that uh his kid was sick or something, so he had to come back. Well, we're missing a bag. So, uh Liz was here uh kind of supporting the branch here and watched him go to a rest stop. Well, we don't service a rest stop. >> A truck stop? >> The one up on the interstate? >> Yeah. Do you know if they have cameras up there? >> I don't. Uh they might. I'll have to check. >> Okay. But we have cameras in our truck. So, I can see him. He takes his backpack out and he takes a Brinks coal bag. The coal bag is a black bag that where they put their uh money and stuff in. >> Right. >> go in and out of the a business. Well, he takes his bag and he goes probably to the restroom. So, I want to pull I want to pull the hard drive from the truck and see actually where he goes. But then we get him coming back to have internal cameras also that we can see live and he brings his coal bag back and he takes his backpack out. And then he starts stuffing stuff on top of the bag, trying to conceal it. Like he opens up his backpack. >> He stuff stuff on top of the >> Inside of his backpack. >> Okay. >> So, he gets his You see him get his jacket and he opens up his backpack and stuffs his jacket on the top of it. So, that's where we believe >> They took the money out of the delivery bag. >> Even the woman standing nearby had provided several details that further reinforce the suspicion that the suspect had engaged in questionable and wrongful behavior. >> Back to the branch. Nobody searches him. He leaves with his backpack. I counted on camera only four ATMs came back. He didn't do any ATMs. There should have been five ATMs. >> He only had 13 routes. >> Yeah, 13 stops. >> So, place the rest stop. >> Yeah. >> Would that ever happen normally for a driver to go to a location that's not part of the route? >> He could have gone to the bathroom, but not with the with the cold bag. >> Yeah. >> Right, you never take the bag. I'm assuming that's part of like protocol that I don't know. >> they have a route sequence that they have to adhere to. And when they deviate from that, they know the branch knows that they went off the route. >> Right. >> So, that wasn't even on the route. There's no stop at that truck stop. >> Where the rest stop? >> Is it even is it in between any two stops or >> It's on his hour drive back to branch. Cuz he's in Panama City Beach. >> So, I called him today and talked to him and said, "Hey, you know, did you have any problem with your route?" He goes, "No, no." I said, "Hey, I I I understand that you quit." He goes, "Yeah, I quit. Just not for me." So, after he left that day, when did he throw his uniforms away? >> So, I guess between when he brought his route back and didn't finish it on Friday and when they showed up to open the branch on Saturday, he threw his uniforms over the fence and texted the manager that he quit. >> After that, the police discovered the situation was far more serious when the suspect was confirmed to have committed the act more than once with the total value estimated at 1040000. On that same day, officers were also able to approach the suspect. What happened next unfolded as follows. >> 416 on tonight. David Lyons, come out of the Sheriff's Office. Go ahead and step out for me. License what? >> I don't know. What's going on? >> Explain that to my eyes. >> Stopping that guy or what? >> Before we have him stopped, he's in 15. >> Car 258, chief >> Have a seat. He's got uh about $920 in just 20s in his wallet. So, we're still out with the truck. I can't see anything in plain view for us to search it or anything like that, but uh we're just going to hang tight with the truck. >> Although the man had been arrested so suddenly, he did not become panicked. Instead, he remained surprisingly calm as the police interrogation unfolded. >> Mr. Miller, I'm Deputy Last with the Sheriff's Office. Since you're in handcuffs in the back of a car, I got to read you this before we can talk, okay? >> I got you. >> You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand that, sir? >> I do. I understand. >> Um Were you in the military in >> I'm retired. >> Retired? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. That What What did you serve at? >> Uh all over the place. I was in Okinawa, California, South Carolina. >> What What did you do? What was your MOS? >> military police. Can I handle it? >> Okay. Okay. Um Yeah, I've done most of that stuff, to be honest. I've been stateside all my career. Never got any of the deployments, unfortunately. >> That sucks. >> I missed it. Did you retire or did you just >> I got hurt. I needed a knee replacement, so >> Ah. That's you got disability from the VA and stuff like that. Okay. Um so, the reason that we're talking to you right now uh >> I already know. When Mike Wong called me, like I didn't think there was any money, so it was [ __ ] all the time. >> Okay. Okay. Well, here's Here's the thing I understand. All right, Brinks has been doing this for a really long time. They have a lot of systems in place, some of which were due to make this happen. However, there is a detailed record of everything. >> I I I worked there. I understand it. I mean I didn't take the money. Like their bags disappear constantly. It's crazy. >> Okay. >> Because I quit, they're bitter about it, so. >> Okay. So, do you know the bag that they're talking about? >> no idea cuz I didn't take a bag, so I don't know any details. I didn't take [ __ ] >> Well, that's crazy. >> Okay. >> His answers essentially amounted to a denial of any involvement in the theft, and even when confronted with follow-up questions, he responded with ease as if he had been prepared in advance. >> Well, so you did a number of things that are abnormal. All right? >> What? >> Because every Again, everything they do everything's on video, everything's tracked. Right? So, do you remember stopping at a rest stop on the way back from your route? >> Yeah, I had to go to the bathroom. >> You had to go to the bathroom, okay. Did um what did you Why did you end your route early that day? >> Cuz my door wasn't working. Both doors were like stuck shut, so I didn't I couldn't get in and out. >> Okay. Um so, you ended your route early cuz the door You said you stopped at the bathroom on the way. Do you normally take a money bag with you into the bathroom? >> I had my black uh Brinks bag with me. Yeah, because the doors were all screwy. I didn't want to get locked up with everything. So, I brought all the keys and everything with me in there. >> Okay. Um do you normally bring that backpack that you had in in the money bag with you? >> Yeah, I bring all my stuff with me. >> All right. Well, I mean, do you normally bring that bag to work? >> Oh, yeah, I bring it to work every day. Yeah, so I keep all my stuff. >> Okay. Is it a >> duffel bag? >> Yeah, is it Is that in policy? >> Um I don't know what the policy is. >> All right. Well, they said that My understanding is that the if you have a personal bag, it's supposed to be either clear or like a mesh bag so you can see in it. >> I don't know. Well, I guess no one No one applies for that then. >> Okay. I don't know. That may be so. I'm just asking. All right. Um do they normally search bags like that that aren't uh clear or the mesh bags. >> Um >> I don't sometimes it's not They don't follow protocol there. They're very sloppy. There's money everywhere and everything. It's the just doesn't surprise me. They just accused another guy of stealing money in the middle of the night though. >> If you paid close attention, the officer's questions were actually designed to test whether he had truly seen or handled the money bags since he was only supposed to be the driver transporting them. He then admitted that he had taken a money bag out shortly after. So understand, like I said, the way everything's tracked, it's very clear that you take all five bags out, the ATM bags, the blue ones. All right, you take five ATM bags, you load them on the truck. That's all on video. >> Yeah, and then I brought them back. And then I brought all of them back when they didn't do it, it didn't work. >> And on video, they have you checking back in. In the end, he was officially charged with grand theft, and the money previously found by the police was also confirmed to be connected to the missing funds.
