Yeah. >> All right. Where are you going? >> Hey, come over here. All right. Stop. Come over here. Come over here. No. No. No. Come over here. Please. Please let me go. >> They seemed like ordinary shoplifterss, but their faces turned out to be all too familiar. She came in yesterday and she stole a handbag from us. Okay. She left out. She was already the retailer by the time I got over there. >> Sooner or later, your luck runs out. These shoplifterss will have to face the consequences no matter what tricks they try next. >> Where's the shampoo and conditioner now? >> Right here. Right. Where? >> Okay. You know that that's not allowed, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> You are also Don't please me. You should have thought about this before you came in here stealing. Okay. >> Here are the times when serial shoplifter thinks her scheme worked until cops expose. Starting with a shoplifter who managed to rack up four charges in just two days. this item off the hanger. Went to the cube, rolled it up, and put it in her bag. And then she left the last one to sail. >> I don't [clears throat] have I didn't have nothing. >> So, you didn't drop nothing down the toilet? No. >> Then why were you so quick to flush it? >> On the 1st of June 2025, police received a report from a TJ Maxx store about a woman who had allegedly stolen a shirt worth $9.99. But what made the situation more serious was that the store employee recognized that the woman had also been there the previous day. >> She came in yesterday and she stole a handbag from us. Okay, she left out. She was already in another retailer by the time I got over there. Technically, I'm not supposed to say anything to her. I walked over. I verified she had her merchandise. I came back. Whatever. Documented the system, told them if she comes back, I'm going to call the police. She came in today. She's doing a lot of shopping, whatever. She got a bag full of stuff that she did come in with. No receipt. She's trying to do a non receipt return. Anyway, in a nutshell, she gets a few items and checks them off the hanger. She had a white and black bathing suit that she says she placed somewhere in the store which she may have. But she kicked this item off the hanger, went to the cube, rolled it up, and put it in her bag. And then she left the last point of sale. So she stole a handbag yesterday and today. >> Do you have your driver's license on? I was looking for your ID. >> I I'm I'm trying to find it. He's got me a nervous. >> I do have my ID. What is your first name? >> Suzanne. >> Well, you're not going to the bathroom right now. Okay. All right, Miss Suzanne, you have the right to remain silent and anything you say may be used as evidence. >> Judging by the woman's demeanor, it was already difficult for her to deny the store's allegations. The officer immediately took advantage of this and questioned her in a way that led her to admit what she had done herself. >> That being said, obviously you came in yesterday. They observed you trying to to tell me about what happened yesterday. >> He said I I did I took a thing. >> You took a thing. something. >> Are you going through something financially where you just can't afford it? >> I just want you to be 100% honest with me because honesty goes very, very long with me. >> I I'm going through a separation. >> Mhm. >> Okay. And do you have any support or resources that you can reach out to? >> Okay. Well, I have my son My son moved down here with me. He's helping me. >> Suzan, do you have any priors for shoplifting? >> I do. >> You do? Are you currently on probation for third offense conviction? >> Okay. So, why are >> No, not third offense. >> It's third offense. I looked it up before I came and make contact with you. Third or subsequent um conviction. I got your probation officer's phone number. >> Why are we still doing this if we're we're >> honestly? >> I'm just going through something really bad right now. >> I get you're going through things really bad, but is a bag really a necessity for life? Is it food, shelter, water, etc.? It's not. So, why why are we doing dumb? What seemed like a simple shoplifting case became more serious because of the woman's prior theft convictions. Under Florida law, a new petite theft offense can become a thirdderee felony if she has two or more prior theft convictions. Because of that, the officer also informed her of what she could be facing in this case. >> All right, Miss Suzanne. So, I'm going to be honest with you. You're going to jail. A lot of times, too, if it's something super minor like that, I could do what's called a notice to appear. But in this situation, I really don't think a notice to appear is going to help you. >> You are also Don't please me. You should have thought about this [ __ ] before you came in here stealing. Okay. I was actually on my way to go eat my lunch because I haven't ate since 10:00 this morning and now I got to get stuck babysitting you cuz you don't know how to be an adult. Okay. With that being said, you were also on probation. So, I'm going to call your probation officer and if they want us to violate it, then depending if that's going to be a felony or misdemeanor, you're also going to get hit with VOP. Okay? If you're on probation for stealing third offense and no bars, etc., whatever your stipulations are, you probably shouldn't be doing like this. Okay? Do you need medical attention? You're going to throw up on me. >> I I really I haven't took my medicine today. >> Okay. Cuz I'm going to say I don't do good with vomit. So, if you're going to puke, I'd rather you let me know and we could call. >> Put it in the bag if you're going to do that. >> Yeah. If you're going to throw in your bag, >> you need medical attention or you need to go to the bathroom. All right. Get up. Let's go to the bathroom. I'll walk with you. The woman was then allowed to use the bathroom, but while she was inside, she appeared to do something suspicious, causing the situation to become tense again with the officers. >> Come on, let's go. >> Let's go. >> Can you like not do anything else? >> She's happy. She got rid of >> 100%. It's okay. I'm going to let your probation officer know. Let's go. Not doing this. >> I'm not doing anything. >> What do you mean? You put something down the toilet. I'm not stupid, bro. I've been doing this job for 6 years from Broward County. I think I know what I'm doing. >> I'm not. I do. >> Yeah. I'm going to violate her probation of tampering with evidence. >> Do you have anything concealed in you? I'm ask you right now cuz once you go to the jail, it's going to be a contravent to a facility. >> I don't have anything in >> Did you take anything before we came here? You going to overdose in my car? >> No. >> No, I don't do that. I don't do that. I >> What did you drop down the toilet? >> I don't have nothing. I didn't have nothing. >> You didn't drop nothing down the toilet? No. Then why were you so quick to flush it >> when I said not to flush it? >> Huh? >> Then why'd you flush it when I said not to flush it? >> Can you answer that? >> I flushed the toilet. >> No, you didn't. I was telling you not to flush it and you flushed it. >> Why did you do that? >> I I flushed the toilet because I had already flushed it. >> No, you All right, I'm not arguing. Let's go on this side. Have a seat. >> Flush something down the toilet. >> My butt first. >> Have a seat. Get your feet in. Oh, >> we let her use the bathroom cuz she's dry heaving. So, I'm watching her and then I hear clink and I'm like, "What did you flush?" So, I go to grab her and then she flushes the toilet. So, I just threw her against the wall and cuffed her herself. She had a throw off. She was >> Yeah, she flushed something. I was like, and I heard a clink. I didn't really see it, you know, and then I was like, "Don't flush it." She's like, "I'm going to hit her resisting, too." >> Yeah. >> I wish I could do tampering, but I couldn't see what it was. Her actions could have exposed her to an additional charge for tampering with evidence, but she showed no concern and continued acting as though she were the victim. >> Ma'am, this this left handcuff is dug into my arm so bad. >> People resist. We don't make the comfort. >> Oh, it hurts so bad. >> I know. Well, you know, >> it's cuz I didn't get to double walk it cuz you decided to flush stuff down the toilet. >> You disobeyed a direct order. So, at that point, we just got cuffs on as quick as we can. Ow. >> You know. >> Oh, that sure hurt. >> I don't know. We're going to fix it for you. >> Ow. >> I understand. There we go. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. Next time a cop tells you to stop doing something, just stop. >> Oh, my thumb is so numb. >> I understand. >> Let's fix both. Hold on. Okay. >> Thank you. Oh, man. >> Was that better? >> Yes. Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> Oh, man. >> There we go. Better. Yes. >> All right. We'll close the door so we can head out. All right. >> You said you going to get a detective to talk to me. >> No, cuz you didn't answer me if you wanted one. And now we're heading out. >> Oh, well. >> You're more than welcome to give me information. I could relay it over to our undercover units. >> Oh, I thought you were going to get one for me to talk to. >> No, cuz you never told me you wanted. The woman was charged with non-violent obstruction, possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon, petite theft with [music] at least two prior theft convictions, and violation of probation or community control. Repeated theft can carry much more serious consequences when prior convictions and probation are involved. Trying to resist or create additional problems can only make an already serious situation worse. Next, what started with $5 left this woman facing a thirdderee theft charge. Do you guys know this still has a tag? >> Yeah. I mean, she said, "Did you pay for it?" >> On the 1st of July, 2024, police were dispatched to a Universal Studios shopping area after receiving a report of a woman who had stolen $5 worth of merchandise. But what seemed like a minor theft did not end there. At the loss prevention office, officers discovered another $1,500 worth of merchandise in the bags she was carrying. As soon as they arrived at the scene, the officers proceeded to arrest her. >> Got you. >> Look, Claudia. >> Good. You call me. >> Do you have anything on you? No. See? Okay. Keep down and I'm just about done with the arrest report. I just I'm waiting once he he's done with his statement. He emails it to me. I copy paste and I'll be done. >> Be submitted. >> Still out there, right? >> I think so. Yeah. >> You can whatever questions she has. >> Yeah. >> Is this all hers? >> Huh? >> According to her, she got those >> she got those from the hotel. >> From the hotel? >> Yeah. Oh, she phone can go with her. The rest. Where's her family? >> Does she have a They're already gone. They're already gone. They don't want to come get her stuff anymore. >> I'm single. Um, >> she quickly accepted being handcuffed, seemingly acknowledging what had happened. But even if she tried to deny it, there was little she could do [music] as officers had already seen the evidence found in her bags. >> You guys No, this still has a tag. Yeah, I mean she said for it. >> The room's not in tags, but it doesn't have an ink tag. So, she possibly could have paid for the room or not. I don't think so. to see another >> won't take this. >> Yeah. Yeah. So, is that just her just her phone? >> This will >> That's all her >> Yeah. It's going to go lost and found here. >> Her family can come. >> She said her her ID is somewhere in there. Did you guys still have her ID? >> According to the report, the woman only stole a $5 soda, while the other $1,500 worth of merchandise was reportedly taken by members of her family who left it behind after being discovered. She was the one left behind to face the consequences. She also was not fluent in English, so officers had to work through a translator while trying to contact her family. >> You guys in Spanish? >> You let her know that her stuff is going to be in the lost. It's also lost and found here. Um she asked if um any way we can get because her phone I have a phone I have a phone charger. Okay. and found. >> The initial $5 theft might have only led to a trespass notice, but with over $1,500 in merchandise, she [music] was charged with thirdderee theft. A Chilean resident visiting Orlando, she was initially held without bond. She pleaded not guilty and stayed in the US for about 5 months hoping for dismissal. What starts as a seemingly minor theft can become much more serious when additional evidence is uncovered. One small mistake can carry far greater consequences when the full truth comes to light. Next, the woman thought she had found a way out, but her face was already all too familiar to one of the officers. >> How'd you pay for the liquor? >> Use my money. >> Cash or >> cash? It was like $20. >> Did they give you a receipt for it? I didn't ask for one. >> I'm telling you, it's the last thing you want to do. >> Don't resist. >> Why are you touching? >> Cuz you're under arrest. >> Cuz you're under arrest. >> On the 18th of April, 2024, police waited outside for more than 45 minutes just to approach a woman after her shopping trip. But there was nothing ordinary about it as even she couldn't clearly explain what she had done. >> Hi. What's your first name again? >> Candy. >> Candy. Do me first. Step over here real quick. Do you have a receipt for all this stuff? >> I do my Gmail. >> Oh, your Gmail. Just do me first. Just step over here for one second. We got to figure this out cuz we're saying we we didn't pay for this. >> You have it on your Gmail, >> sir. What's your relation? >> I'm a lift driver. >> You're a lift driver? Okay. >> We've met before, right? >> Um >> Where are you from? >> No. All right. Never mind. >> I believe. >> How did you pay for the items? >> Huh? >> How did you pay for the items? >> My first card. I had um >> Did you go to a register? >> Yeah, I did. >> You did? Which register did you go to? >> Selfch checkout. >> Selfch checkout. Okay. And what do you do? You like you scan it or what does it look like? >> I'm able to type it in my um prison card. >> Okay. Do you have a license ID with you? >> My ID? >> Yeah. >> No. >> You don't have one at all or you don't have it with you? >> I don't have it with me. >> Okay. You You have an ID though. >> Uh the bottle of alcohol. Did you >> do it over here? >> Yeah. >> What? What register? You paid for everything at that register. >> Yeah. No, I just paid for liquor over there and then I paid for some of it at social. >> How'd you pay for the liquor? >> Use my money. >> Cash or >> cash? It was like $20. >> Did they give you a receipt for it? >> I didn't ask for one. >> What's your first name? >> Candy. >> C A N D Y. >> I >> Is that your legal name? >> Yes. >> Okay. How old are you? >> 22. >> What's your last name? house. >> H O U S E. >> Yes. >> Middle initial? >> D. >> And what's your home address now? >> What seemed like a routine theft investigation quickly became less ordinary. One officer recognized the suspect's familiar face, suggesting this wasn't the first time she had been linked to suspicion. >> Uh didn't check out, just pushed right out of the front door. And she said the same thing uh back at the end of March. >> Yeah. I've definitely dealt with her. So, um yeah, she said she paid with an EBT card. We'll get uh let's get the stuff out of the court here and then uh we'll have him ring it up and we'll go from there. >> Anthony can hang out. They can do a store scene. >> Is she trespassed from here? >> I'm aware of like I never had >> never dealt with her. I recognized her from prior. >> What uh any what drew you into her? Just >> prior. >> We had some stuff missing from our home entertainance. I think like a crockpot. We would have it was her. That was a couple months back. >> Got it. Okay. So you just recognized where she came in. Just followed it. Got it. All right. And then she just pushed out. Never stopped pointing for 45 minutes. Load up everything front door. >> Okay. Sounds good. Let me just run her stuff and we'll get this going here. >> That's it. >> That's it. >> What? We just bags. >> What else? >> Yeah, bags. And those loose things over there. >> Paper towels. and the hot pockets. They have >> What else? >> That's it. >> That's it. >> That's it. Everything's right. >> All right. I got his DL. >> You got his deal? >> You're good to go. >> You're good to go. The employees could clearly identify which items belong to the store. Yet, the woman showed no reaction and still failed to produce the receipt she claimed she was searching for. >> Yep. I'll be right back in. >> Yep. >> Cuz you're under arrest. >> I have a receipt and let you know. Like I said, >> you don't have receipt. >> Yes, I do. I'm looking for it now. >> You don't have a receipt? >> I do. >> Why are you just watching push the car? >> I wouldn't lie. Just don't lie. >> All right. Hand him your phone. Turn around. >> I'm going to call my brother. >> You can call from our headquarters. >> Excuse you. >> No. >> No, you're not. >> Don't resist. Then you'll catch a bad charge instead of just a shoplifter. >> Why can't I call my brother? >> You can call from our headquarters. Reported line phone. >> Don't resist. I'm telling you, it's the last thing you want to do. >> Don't resist. >> Why are you touching me? >> Cuz you're under arrest. >> You're under arrest. >> You're going to do this the hard way. You're going to find >> You're arresting me when I have a receipt and you won't let me find. >> We know you don't have a receipt. >> I do. Police were certain the woman was lying, but she refused to come clean. Instead, the argument quickly turned into a tense physical struggle. >> We know you don't have >> You won't let me find it. >> You're going to you're going to end up on the ground. You're not going to be happy about it. She's resisting, of course. Let go. >> Yeah, I know. Yeah. >> Watch. >> Well, I didn't break it. >> All right. Stop pulling your arms. Yeah, cuz you're resisting. That's why. >> It would have been easier if you didn't. >> Yep. >> Let's get her shirts loose. >> She's in there for a couple other shots. >> She uh she doesn't have any belongings on her allegedly other than her phone. >> Check her. >> You're being searched. >> You're touching me. >> Yeah, you're getting pat searched, not strip searched. >> Yeah, that's how that's how searching works. >> You can be offended. That's fine. sit up off the pole. >> The woman refused to accept that she had been caught, showing no remorse and instead acting like an angry child. >> No. No. I checked her phone. >> Unit 101. >> All right, let's go. >> Back to the car. >> 101. >> Stop. >> Stop being a child. Yeah. >> Go ahead. Sit. >> Well, you want to do adult things. Act like an adult. >> Yeah. >> Now she's going to get a a charger >> instead of just shoplifting. And I told her that she, you know, whatever. >> Uh, I'll get the video footage from >> Yeah, go grab video footage. You're going to have to sit there and scan with him and uh get us a store receipt and we'll be I'll start processing. >> Good times. >> In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting and resisting arrest. A simple shoplifting case can become much more serious when someone chooses to resist. Cooperating with officers can prevent a minor incident from escalating into additional charges. Next, this shoplifter even peed herself when confronted by cops. >> Please, please let me go. Please let me please please stop. I'm pink. >> Okay. What did you shop? >> I have I have makeup in my pocket. >> Did you pee yourself? >> I did. Yeah. >> On the 7th of September 2025, an officer responded to a report of a woman shoplifting at Walgreens. She was reportedly taking items out of their packaging and putting them in her pocket. Even after spotting the officer, she tried to get rid of the evidence by throwing it away. But the officer saw what she had done and immediately confronted her. >> I didn't know I was putting this. >> What did you throw over there? >> That he was putting the >> Can you check for me? the things. >> Do you guys have camera footage at all? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> All right. Where you going? >> It almost seemed like the woman had deliberately let the officer see her shoplifting. But strangely, the moment she ran for the door and the officer caught her, her attitude suddenly changed. >> Okay. Hey. Hey. Come over here. All right. Stop. Come over here. Come over here. No, no, no. Come over here. Please, please let me go. I'm not going to Please, please, please, please, please stop. I'm I'm hold on. Please. I'm telling you. I'm taking my hands right now. Please, please, please, please, please give me I'll I'll give you 1129 to Echo 226. >> Can you come up? I'm not in front of Walgreens 5,000. I got >> I will I will give you everything. >> Okay, come. We're not doing this. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> I will give you everything that I have. >> I promise. >> I'm telling you, I will I will give you everything that I have. I just saw her shoplifting in front of me. Tell them yours. >> Okay, drop that. >> Stay back. >> Step back, >> please. I'm telling you. I'm going to give you >> go. >> Okay. >> Put your hands behind your back. I'm not kidding right now. Put your hands behind your back. Hands behind your back. >> You're resisting. You want to catch another charge? >> Right now, you're being detained. I'm telling you right now, if you keep if you keep resisting, you're getting another charge, >> sir. You're going to go back there and stop. >> After detaining 36-year-old Mia Alexa Richardson, the officer immediately searched her and found more stolen items hidden in her pockets. >> I need to put everything down. >> Do you have any weapons on you? >> No. Oh, I have a knife in my in my pocket. >> Do you have any on me? >> No. No, ma'am. >> No, I have nothing right. I'm I'm so sorry. I really need I'm I really I would like to do anything. But >> and these mints are not >> They're mine. >> They're mine from >> You don't have any or anything that's going to poke me, right? >> No, ma'am. No, >> I don't know. No. >> Can you go over there? Appreciate it. >> And I say, "What are you doing? Are you really shoplifting in front of me?" >> I know. >> And then you say, "I need to put something down." And then you continue to disobey lawful orders when I tell you to stop. That luckily if my partner wasn't right here, we probably would have been on the ground or I would have tased you. >> What did you shop? >> I have I have makeup in my pocket. >> During the conversation, the officer noticed that Mia's pants were wet, suggesting that she had lost control of her bladder while struggling with the officer. >> Did you pee yourself? >> Urinated on yourself? >> Yeah. No. >> Are you Are you on probation? >> No. Have you ever been arrested before? >> Like when I was like like 17 or 18. But >> okay, so these are the only things. >> So is that makeup item as well? The same BB something >> in in my pocket that I have on me. And it's because I >> What are you reaching for in your waist? >> Trying to get in the makeup that I have. This is okay >> because like I literally moved here and start over. >> I know. >> My whole life. And I'm so sorry that I did that. And I'm like really I got really scared. >> You got really scared. >> I'm so sorry. So this and this >> and >> this and this. Sorry. >> Whatever thing. No, no, no. Whatever is >> I was leaving the bathroom and I started putting stuff in like one and then just tossing it. I literally just sp and then I was like, "Are you in the shop in front of me?" And I sort of stopped walking and she starts walking. She was waiting for me in the car. So that's why I got on the road for her to come out cuz I'm trying to grab her and she's actively pulling, bracing, pushing. The officer then returned the stolen items to the store as their total value was finally being determined. That's 10.4 15 20 33 is 47. the male if it's totaled over a hundred, they want to >> charge her. If not, the male that's in that red tank top kept coming around the corner. I told them to stay away just in case if he's over there. >> Yeah, there's a couple that are definitely over like 15 bucks in there. So, >> yeah, it's close enough to where I'd probably do it. >> If you want to press, I mean, that's fine. We can >> if you guys can, that helps us cuz we got to take her for resisting anyways. >> Okay. And so when they see it without a normal charge, >> right, >> then it kind of loses its they're like, "Okay, well, she was fighting you, but like, well, she was leaving with the stuff, so the deputy did what she should do." So, >> is there any way you can do an itemized receipt of these? >> Mia, Alexa Richardson, was charged with obstruction without violence and petite theft. She was also trespassed from the store and later released on a $650 bond. Shoplifting can quickly become more serious when someone ignores an officer's commands and tries to flee. What may seem like a simple theft can lead to additional legal consequences. Next, this serial shoplifter even had to hide her identity to avoid being caught. >> All right. Yes, I am watching the video of her walking out of the store with some products. >> I mean, listen, it's just shoplifting and warrants. Still warrants, it's not like you guys are in like serious trouble. On the 14th of October 2024, officers were dispatched to a store after receiving a report of a woman who entered the store, took merchandise, and immediately fled. For now, everything the officers had to go on came from the store's surveillance footage. >> I am watching the camera footage now. Can you zoom in, sir, just so I can confirm that that's camouflage? Yes. Okay. Um, is it uh >> Adidas look Adidas pants? Black paint white shirt. All right. Yes, I am watching the video of her walking out of the store with some products. >> Just confirming the name Ruiz. >> Okay. And >> and quickly, do you need anything for me here? Do you want me to um advise him about the uh the link, the evidence link? >> What's that? >> Is there anything you need for me here? You want me to advise him about the evidence link or If you could just head over here. >> Okay. >> Pick up this chick and then we'll go into headquarters. Take care of it. >> Okay. Um, so you want me to bring her in? >> Yes. >> I mean, your location is >> for transport. >> So, what you're doing is you're going to head north7 Juliet. It's Quinton, which is to come down and you'll see us on the right side. >> Sure. your way over. >> So towards Julian Clinton. >> All right. >> All right. >> So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to um get your information cuz I'm going to see you a link, but you got upload this video. >> Perfect. >> Um >> based on the information provided by the store, another group of officers located a woman matching the description and detained her. on you at all. >> I've never gotten a license or nothing. >> Okay. How old are you? >> Rodriguez. >> How old are you? >> What? 23. >> 23? Okay. How did you get here from Woodbridge? >> That's my boyfriend. >> You drove? >> No, I took an Uber. You took an Uber like a month ago. >> Okay. Where does he live? >> The wrong place. >> On the right place. Mhm. Let's go. >> You know what I'm saying? >> We literally were not even >> Where's the money? Is it a hibernation or a >> we had and I was going to spend $30. They had three of them and I didn't have enough. They wanted 90 for 40 on both of them. >> I didn't have 90. >> Okay. You do one more time. >> The suspect had nothing to prove her innocence, an unusual sign often seen among shoplifterss. And she was clearly lying as she denied stealing despite the camera footage showing her. >> Where's the stuff from the uh Family Dollar? >> You never know Family Dollar ever. Did you send the evidence.com thing yet? >> Yeah. >> So, it'll probably be up there. I know. >> You can check the back. >> Yeah. >> I'll give you guys the stuff back. I didn't steal anything. >> Okay. Well, why would you give it back to us if you didn't steal anything? >> Cuz you told me it was stolen. I never went into my store and stole anything. >> Okay. We'll see. >> Never even been to a dollar dollar store over here. >> Well, first of all, right now we're talking about the Autozone or Auto Parts. >> Yeah. Hello. >> The officers also searched the information she provided in the system only to find another lie as it was not her real name. Your name? Your name's not. >> So this is you officer. Okay. 21. >> Call 18 niner. >> Call 18er. >> What about the ID? Do you got a >> any drugs in here? >> No. >> No needles. >> No. >> Olivia, you can 22 that. >> That's a big one. I might have to search this more backwards. Yeah, got all >> I don't have anything else. >> Kind of thought they leave me now. >> What about the stuff from uh >> 29 by number? >> I've never been in there. I've never bothered. >> After some questioning, officers confirmed her name was Cecilia Ruiz, who had multiple warrants. This appeared to be why she gave them a false name. >> I mean, listen, it's just shoplifting and warrants. Still warrants, so it's not like you guys are in serious trouble. We'll be back doing this tomorrow. What are you doing? >> Insurance. >> Wow. >> Started with this or something else. Ain't nothing else. Maybe a little wake up call, right? So, the officer gave her one more chance to be honest. >> So, >> so [snorts] I'm going to give you one opportunity to be honest with us. Okay. Um, there's cameras inside, as you can tell. They're like down every single aisle. All right. Did you take something inside that you shouldn't have taken not pay for it? >> It's either it's a yes or a no. >> You either had money on you and you paid for an item >> that was inside of the store or you took an item and didn't pay for it. >> Okay then. And there's his phone. All right. Hey, sir. Can you hear me? Can you hear me? >> He hasn't been able to answer any questions. I asked him what he was dislocated. I don't know about his lower body. We did not move him cuz I was afraid of his spine. >> Anything down here? >> Who Who's involved here? Where's the vehicle? >> I have no idea. >> His vehicle is That's his, right? >> No, that's my daughter. We pulled over. >> Okay. car is pulled over. There's no >> 57 as he's still conscious. >> All right. >> Just got a blanket to cover him up. >> You know, I got it right here. >> What's your name? Right here. >> 5763. Got a DL break. >> He's got tons of road rash right here. His shirt's off. His Hey, what's your name, partner? Huh? Stand. >> We're going to get you some help. >> You got vitals. She's shaking. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Just bring it. >> 576. them at 635. >> So, how did this incident begin in the first place leading to such a dangerous situation? One witness stepped forward and recounted how the whole confrontation started. >> So, um I was at this traffic light. There was a car behind me. I heard something scraping and I'm like, "What the heck is that?" Then I see this car right here >> pull up and I'm like, "Oh, it's his bumper." >> He pulled up. He he like jetted in front of me and then jetted in the lane next to me and then cut this woman off. >> Okay. >> Cut this woman off. His car was like like this. This is where he stopped. Her car was like a little bit back here >> in the turn lane or in the straight lane. >> She at that point she cut she was No, she was in this lane right here. Not the turn lane. The straight lane. >> The through lane. >> Yep. She was in the straight lane. He cuts her off. He gets out of his car on the hood of her car, screaming at her >> and holds on to like her windshield wipers or whatever. >> Yeah, like the maybe the >> Yeah, holding on something. Yeah, his belly is down. He's yelling at her. She's clearly like, "Oh my god, what the heck?" >> So, she's like jerking her car to get him to come off. He doesn't get off, but he stays on. And then ultimately, she ends up facing this way by kind of circling a U-turn >> basically. Yes. And so at that point, her bumper is backed up against my bumper >> and I saw her reverse lights go on. I'm like, "Oh, she's me." So I end up the light turns green. I go down Cooper to head home. And then at that point, when I'm driving down Cooper, I see her car now facing that. Is that one of our detectives? >> Sorry. We're not This is all supposed to be closed right now. >> Oh. Oh, okay. her bump her her bumper is um so she's now turned completely around and she's face driving. >> She is literally holding on and she's driving with him on the hood of her car. >> Okay. >> I don't know. That's where I last saw. I thought I saw him tumble off but maybe I didn't. But >> the witness's statements all pointed to the same story and there appeared to be no reason for them to lie about what they had seen. But even then, the driver behind the wheel remained a mystery. Using the vehicle's license plate information, police were eventually able to locate the SUV connected to the incident. >> Well, there she is. >> How did you guys find it? >> Uh, okay. Well, >> here's the gist of it. >> I just pulled up the hot and I drove around for about 3 minutes and found sitting here that matched the description of the vehicle was stolen out of the carrier on campus. >> So, I rolled up, made contact with them, and uh there was a female standing out on the passenger side. There was a male inside that was sifted through everything. Um, and uh, officer wound up showing up with me and we got a thing. We both had multiple warrants from the car was stolen info from you guys. So >> who you guys have the males info we can get? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. They both got jail. So >> female got heart failure as soon as she wound up hearing something on the radio was with regard to your guys. us, man. What's going on? >> He'll get you. >> I can grab it. >> Oh, no. We didn't know it was on >> I figured at first it was just like a Yeah, just you guys was just a 45. >> Yep. Uh, his name Brian Spalding. SP A U L D I N G. Do OB 328 to 77. 328 or 77. Yep. >> After further investigation, the driver was identified as Danielle Henry, 34. Investigators also found that she had been shoplifting at the same Kroger, while the SUV she was driving had been reported stolen. She was already wanted on warrants related to theft. receiving stolen property and failure to comply, which may help explain why she fled the scene. Both Henry and the injured man were later taken for medical evaluation. >> I like to put your shoes. >> Can I please pee first? >> I got to pee so bad. >> Did you pee for them? >> No. >> Why didn't you? >> You never asked me to. >> Yeah, they did. I watched her. I was right there. Well, I don't remember. >> I'm going to pee myself for you. >> We'll give you your jacket. Get your shoes on first. [clears throat] >> Have a blood noise. >> Yes. Yes, you have. Put your jacket on. >> Can I please >> zip your jacket? >> Zip your jacket. Hands behind your back. Even at the police station, she remained seemingly unfased, choosing to exercise her right to remain silent [music] and refusing to answer the detective's questions. Okay. What does that kind of mean to you? >> That means I don't talk until I speak to a lawyer. >> Okay. Means you can or can't. It's up to you. Okay. Would you sign here that you that I read this to you and you understand it? The print and sign doesn't mean you have to talk to me. It's simply saying I read this to you and you understand it. >> I refuse. >> That's fine with me. What's your highest level of education? >> Just make sure I that what I unders that what I read to you. You understand? >> I'm competent. >> Okay, fair enough. >> Do you have any idea why you're here today? >> Hey, Danielle. >> I I don't know. >> You don't know? Let me Let's explain. >> Should we Should we talk about why you're here today? I want to speak to a lawyer. >> You don't want to talk to us at all today? >> No. >> That's entirely your right. I will tell you, you have every right to not talk to us. You have every right to end this end this interview and talk to an attorney. Um I will tell you that a lot of what I'm here to talk to you about is I would like to get your side of it because I know there's it was probably a pretty hectic situation. I'd like to see what you have to say about it, but again, I can't force you to talk to me. So, it's entirely what up to you what you want to do today. >> I want to just be totally >> Okay. Do you understand the charges? >> No, I don't know what I'm charged with. >> Okay. I'll explain it to you. I have a couple things for you that you're being charged with aggravated uh vehicular homicide. >> What? >> Aggravated vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter, and stopping after an accident for the on the roadway. The felony of that. What? >> I would love to sit and discuss this with you, but you decided you don't want to speak to me. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Would you like to to discuss this a little bit about what where these charges came from? What's going on with them? >> Initially, Danielle Henry was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter, and failure to stop after an accident, [music] along with additional charges and active warrants related to theft and receiving stolen property. >> [music] >> She later pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide while the other charges were dropped. Henry was sentenced to at least 4 years and up to 5 and 1/2 years in prison, and her driver's license was permanently revoked. The lesson: a dangerous confrontation on the road can escalate into consequences far beyond the original dispute. When an accident happens, stopping and cooperating with authorities can be critical. >> You can go over there. Look, I promise you, I didn't I didn't walk out with it at all. >> What's your name? I'll pay for it right now, >> but they're not in they're this right now because it passed all the points of sale. >> On the 31st of July 2024, police received a report of a theft that had taken place. Here's what happened when police arrived at the scene. >> Stand in front of my car. Stand in front of my car. You got any weapons on you at all? >> I have a baby and a thumb on my back. That's it. >> Okay, that's it. No guns, no knives. Put your hands behind your back. Look straight forward. Just listen to what I'm telling you. >> Okay. You ain't done nothing wrong. Everything be fine. Okay. >> Can I go in and get it? >> You can go. >> Okay. How old are you? >> I'm 19. >> Okay. All right. Let's put this up here. >> Any other pocket pack? >> All right. What did you take from the store? >> Yeah. He said that I stole a club. I didn't take it. I'm not going to lie to y'all. I was going to take it. >> Okay. >> I walked out without it, though. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Or you saw me and you ditched it. >> Yo, you can go over there and look. I promise you I didn't I didn't walk out with it at all. >> What's your name? >> My name's Austin Lur. I'm on probation, which is kind of I'm not going to lie, why I left as soon as she was >> on probation report? >> Uh, no, it's uh for a DUI. >> What's How do you spell your last name, Austin? >> L. >> What's your date of birth? >> 127. >> Admitting that he was on probation made the situation even more serious. Even though he initially denied the theft, [music] the more he explained himself, the more suspicious his denial became. >> Honestly, it's in the store somewhere. I went through multiple aisles cuz I was going to take it and then I came to my consensus on it. I was like, you know, I'm fresh out of jail. I don't give me stupid like this. Sorry. >> What's your What's your address? >> I don't have a home address. I between people's couches. >> Okay. So, >> I can take y'all to my truck even that I was that I've been in that's driving me around. You won't find it in there either. >> You're going to have to change something in your life, bro. >> I know. I I'm working on it. That's reason why I didn't walk out with it. >> Yeah. I'm I'm looking on >> I know. >> I'm looking on this computer and I see all kinds of crap. You're too young to have all that stuff. I've been on the straight and narrow here recently. Like even I just had my PO me and say I've been peeing clean and all that stuff. They're going to have to search the truck even and show that I've been like walked out or put it in the truck or anything like that. Like if can we drive over there so I can like at least tell them like you can look? >> Not yet. Not yet. We're going to wait. We're going to wait until we get an answer from the store and then we'll go from there. You got a job? Anything like that? >> Job. I work at KFC. >> Okay. Well, that's good. That's good start cuz what I see all that junk on that computer right there. That's horrible, man. Been working on paying off my fines and everything. >> Bro, you're 19. You're too young for all that. >> I just put $50 in the fines today. Been clean. Haven't been doing any drugs. >> That's good. >> Fully off those. They want to trespass me, I'll sign. >> While waiting for the store's investigation, the officers checked the man's vehicle. But first, they handcuffed him and temporarily detained him to make sure he could not flee. >> Put your hands on your back. Am I being arrested? >> I don't know yet. Put your palms together. I don't know whether you're going to be arrested or not. We're going to find out here in a minute. Okay. We're just going to hang out here until we can figure it all out. You know Beard's phone number? >> I do not know his phone number. >> Okay. >> Well, the first person I'm calling tomorrow morning. >> Yep. You're going to have to now cuz you got contact with us, right? >> Yeah, I know. >> We're going to hang tight. We're going to see what he comes up with. If he have if he finds anything and you find anything at all. >> I got the box in the shrink wrap that it was in. So, he took it. But they're like, "Yeah." He walked over here and said, "You're trying to say I stole some cologne." So, but I didn't see him doing anything. >> Okay. >> Just check the truck. I don't see anything. That was a guy who passed me a while ago. Then I saw him sitting there. So, >> okay. So, >> he could have ditched it. >> Yeah, >> cuz why else would you walk all the way over there? >> Yeah. And then walk back. >> I don't know. >> Yeah. >> Plan out here somewhere. >> Okay. I'm going to take him up front, get all her information, all that stuff. >> I mean, it's it's on them. They said they saw him. You know, it's >> The officer then returned to the store to confirm the details of the incident directly with store employees. >> I mean, it's expensive col. >> Okay. >> Well, if if you work up and get a receipt going, you you tell me what you want me to do. If you want me to take him to jail, I'll hook him. I don't care. >> Tell you it's over $25. So, it's instant prosecution, but it's going to be restitution receipt. And I can, hey, you work with us. We're not going to trespass you. You tell us where you put it. that way, you know, and we don't have to do like a trespass because you're working with us. >> And he's already he's already on probation. So, I can I can I can say, "Let me talk to him before I bring you over to talk to him and take his picture and all that." I'll say, "Hey, listen. You took the stuff. Own up now. Things are probably going to work out good in your favor where you ain't going to go to jail, but you're going to have to tell us where >> you want to bring them into the office cuz we can get our picture in there." >> Absolutely. I can do that. Yeah, sure. The officers also explained what he was facing. With everything that had happened, he knew he could no longer keep lying and began admitting everything. >> Listen to me before this all goes down. Okay? The cologne that was in the car, okay? The box that was in the car. If you work with these people probably are not going to go to jail tonight, okay? If you don't, they're just going to prosecute you for the whole thing. It's over $25. They're going to prosecute you. They're going to trespass you and you're going to jail. >> So, if you've dropped it somewhere over there, tell them where it's at. They got to get your picture, all that stuff. I'm going to walk you in the office in there. I'm being straight with you, telling you exactly what's going to happen. No tricks, okay? [music] >> Tell them where it's at. >> Pay for it even like I'll pay for it right now, >> but they're not in there this right now because it passed all the points of sale is not even the concern of paying for it. Okay. >> They can prosecute you for it. >> All right. >> Okay. So, you're straight with them. They're going to get your picture because you took it, right? >> Be trespassing. >> You may be trespassing. You might not. I'm okay with Listen. Okay. >> You might not be. Yes, sir. >> Okay. All right. Come on out. >> So, just be straight with him and then we'll we'll do that. Right here. >> The man showed no real remorse, trying to offer payment as if it could erase his wrongdoing. In fact, at the loss prevention office, it was revealed that this was not his first time being caught. >> Um, have you ever been caught by Walmart before? >> Yes. >> Okay. How long ago was that? >> Uh, about a year and a half ago. I'm paying restitution on the hill still. >> All right. Camera right in front of you just looks pretty good. You're good. Thank you. That's all. Let's go find it. Um cuz I mean we've got your all your information in there. We got your information here so we can find it. >> Come on. Let's go. >> How far over is it? Over here. >> What's that? >> Over here. I walk this. It's either this aisle or the other aisle. >> Okay. Where' you set it behind a car or something? >> I just dropped it. >> You think it's still there? >> Hopefully. Not under there. >> Oh, is it underneath? I can't even see underneath that car. Okay. Well, it may somebody may have snatched it too if you set it down. So, yeah. >> Is that the cap to it? >> The cap to it. >> And it's probably gone. >> Yeah. Is there any way we can bring the cap back? >> We can take the cap back. Not going to do any good, but >> it ain't underneath there either. >> That thing's gone. Austin Lure was arrested and charged with theft of property less than $1,000 and probation violation. He was held with no bond. Stealing may seem like a quick way to get something without paying, but repeated theft can carry serious consequences. For Austin Lure, being on probation made the situation even more serious and ultimately led to his arrest and being held with no bond. [music] >> I'm Tony and my parents for animal. On the 10th of January 2026, officers were dispatched to Lifetime Fitness after receiving a report about two women who were allegedly intoxicated and refusing to leave. So, the management here has elected to have you guys trespass. >> It's not that deep. I just >> Well, ma'am, I I have no control for that. I want to know the name. >> Well, give me a minute. >> I want to make sure you understand what I'm telling you so you don't get yourself in trouble. I heard. >> So for 18 months, if you come back here, >> you will be arrested. >> Uh, according to what manager? >> Let me finish my job as a law enforcement officer cuz as a manager, I don't give a damn. So, if you come back, you're going to be arrested. >> Not serious, >> ma'am. I don't care if it's serious or not. I really don't. Who was the manager that you're speaking? Although both women appeared to cooperate while speaking with the officers, they were not actually listening to anything being explained, causing the situation to escalate unnecessarily. She even made several inappropriate actions, forcing the officers to step in and stop her. >> Hey, do me a favor. Just back up from her a little bit. You're a little bit too close. You're a little bit too close. >> Listen, don't touch. Stop it. I know what I'm doing. >> You were getting too close to her. >> What am I going to do? The woman was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing justice, shoplifting, criminal damage to property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and battery of an officer. Refusing to cooperate can quickly turn a theft investigation into a much more serious encounter. When officers [music] give clear commands, escalating the situation can lead to additional consequences beyond the original accusation. >> Right now, I didn't do nothing. >> Yeah. Get out. >> Have nothing to do with this. >> Get out. Don't Don't rush me up. I'm the only one. You don't you don't you don't pick it up and back there online. >> While the man tried to deny any wrongdoing, the woman ended up admitting it, but not with her words. Instead, her sudden actions revealed far more than any confession could. >> I guess I got a female runner from the Walmart body suit with a pink sweater family. running towards the apartment on the home on the other side of the Oliver. I'm clear. We're over on this side. Oh, right here. Right here. Right here. Right here. >> Like an athlete, she ran as fast as she could, but she never escaped the police. Even more surprisingly, she began playing innocent with a new trick. >> Get down right now. >> I didn't do nothing. >> Yeah. Get down. >> Has nothing to do then. >> Get down. >> Don't Don't rush me up. I'll get down. I will get down. >> Put your hand on your back. Get down. >> Do it now. >> I will get down my phone. Please. >> Hey, you want to put her in her car? >> Yeah, that's fine. >> I'm mad, miss. >> Well, now you definitely going to jail. >> No, please. He homie told me to hold the car. I got scared. Please understand. >> She even tried to change her appearance by taking off some of her clothes and shifted the blame onto the man. None of it worked. As the store's loss prevention team clearly established her involvement in the theft. >> When I was bringing that other TV back in, I saw him coming with another TV cuz he was with him and I said, "Let me see your receipt." He showed me the same picture the other guy tried to send. >> Oh, they're trying to see. We got >> All right. Yeah. Her dumb ass jumped over the the wood [laughter] line behind the Oliver. I don't know where he got the black the one him that I stopped. >> Yeah. >> He went out and walked down this way. >> Okay. It's all right. I'll take her. I mean, I can only charge her for one TV, though, cuz she only came out with one. >> That's fine. >> Yeah. >> How much is the the single TV? >> Uh, was it 428? It's on the receipt. >> Back with the female suspect, she showed no concern for her crime or the consequences of running away. What she cared about instead was her own selfishness over being the only one arrested. >> I'm the only one to handc right now. >> Huh? >> Sa. Please don't me. >> Just calm down. I know you're upset. I understand that. But just give a second. Okay. Sit back. Why you so Why is your Why are you so wet? Did you fall in the water? Just sit back. >> I don't know nothing about you. >> Just sit back. >> Ambulance coming. So sit back. >> I'm the only one getting lot. >> We have an ambulance coming. I mean, you you make >> I went in there to give me some drugs. >> Okay, but you make you make it worse by running. >> What was even more telling was that the woman showed no real recognition of her wrongdoing. [music] Even after she had calmed down, she continued to arrogantly avoid taking responsibility for her earlier attempt to flee. You guys think about it as a when a criminal a criminal is the one that >> always when the white dude caught me he put me on the ground smash my face in the ground all type of >> well if you run >> I'm like I said I'll get on the ground bro you don't got to rough me up cuz I really spazz out this bro for real ass you not going to me out this I will get on the ground myself just cuz I ran you caught me now I'm tired >> now you can kill me like that and the officers out here killing people, bro. I don't know why this >> when you said this was killing me, right? >> What are the reasons? >> What are the reasons? Cuz people aren't following simple commands. People are running. People are pulling weapons when they're not supposed to. And when you're running, you got to think about it. You just ran from us, right? I don't know if you got a gun or a knife, >> right? >> You get what I'm saying? So that's what you got to look at. I'm going to bring you down to the ground as soon as I can so that I can safely put cuffs on you and make the scene safe for me and you. >> She was charged with theft by shoplifting and obstruction. Running away and refusing to take responsibility often creates even bigger legal problems than the original offense. Accepting accountability early can make a difficult situation far easier to resolve than trying to escape it. What do you think about cases like this?
