Here are the times when Walmart shoplifterss thought they could leave with a full cart undetected. From routine calls to high-risisk arrests, every video offers a new lesson. I don't care. 91. >> Get off the 911. If you call 9 If you call 911 again, you will get charged with misuse of 911. >> On the 12th of December, 2024, officers received a report from [music] Walmart about a group of four people suspected of shoplifting. When the officers approached them, they directly addressed the allegation. Let's see how they reacted. >> They have you skip scanning. Okay. >> I do. >> One person talking. >> I She helped me. I sped everything she bag. I literally only got two things with me. Ground beef and ground in the bag. Look y Okay, we're going to all walk inside. I'm not I have a one-year-old baby. Stop touching. >> You're about to go in handcuffs. Handcuff. Stop touching. Please stop touching. Can you I feel offended. I just said I would GIVE HIM MY ID. >> THE SUSPECTS repeatedly interrupted the officers, making the situation even more difficult to control. The woman in the yellow jacket only escalated things further, using her rights as an excuse to interfere with the investigation. >> Okay, so back up. You don't back up. [laughter] I do. I know my I know my rights. So do I. I do, too. >> So do you want to go in here? Do you want to back up so I can get my ID? Do you want your ID, too? >> I don't I didn't say anything. You want to fight? >> Don't touch me. I didn't do nothing. Stop touching me. >> And you're doing this in front of my baby. >> Putting my baby in the car. Like I said, I have a one-year-old baby. >> They repeatedly mentioned the younger member they had with them as if they were trying to use them as a shield. Concerned about the younger member's safety, [music] the officers tried to remind the woman, >> "Put your baby in front. You can't get in the car around me in the car. >> Push your baby in your car. >> I'm not doing this with you. >> I'M NOT HERE. Don't touch. You're gonna go back here. Okay. I can walk. I don't need you to touch me. I'm grown as two feet. Okay. Two feet. You're going to have a seat. Come back. >> Okay. I can walk. Wait. What am I even going >> You're being the same right now. I don't want TO TOUCH HIM. STOP TOUCHING HIM. HE EASILY GET SICK. I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU GOT. >> BACK THE >> NO, YOU HIT HIS FACE. I JUST SAID HE >> All right. Can we please put the baby down? You're not going to I'm telling you right now. I get that. You're not going to use the baby as a defense for us. >> Not harass. None of the women showed any signs of cooperating and the situation only became more tense. So, the officers made a different decision. They allowed the woman to bring her child with her while she was being escorted. >> We're not doing that. >> Can you get her OFF ME? I'M SITTING DOWN. I DON'T NEED I can't sit. I don't need you to make me sick. >> No, you don't. Don't touch him. Watch your back. >> DON'T TOUCH HIM. DON'T touch him. DON'T TOUCH HIM. >> DON'T TOUCH HIM. Sit down. Don't touch him. What's your name and number? Like I said, what's her name? >> Bring your legs in and I'm busy. >> It's because you're making us do this. And then stop using the kids. All right. I'm going to go talk to them and see what the hell's going on. >> All four are suspects when I do themselves in our face. The meat is going to repeat. Are you going to have nobody else? >> 911. Where is the location of your emergency? >> Uh Walmart and stuff. They It's some officers on the scene. I was refusing again. >> Get off the 911. If you call 9 If you call 911 again, you will get charged with misuse of 911. >> No, I refuse. >> Hang up the phone. >> The woman called 911, putting herself at risk of facing a charge for misusing the emergency line. She showed no remorse [music] and despite her family trying to calm the situation, she continued to make everything even more complicated. to court. I am [screaming] I swear to God. >> I AM TAKING THIS [ __ ] TO COURT. >> OKAY. SO, step out. We're going to put you in handcuffs. Okay. >> I'm anoint my name. >> WHEN DID I GIVE YOU MY NAME? >> STEP OUT. >> MY SISTER GAVE YOU MY NAME. Y LITERALLY said I was arrested for her death and didn't even >> step out of the car. I said I want to shoot YOU OFF FOR SOME FAT. I SWEAR GOD. WHAT'S YOUR NAME AND BATHROOM? I'm taking YOU. STOP TOUCHING MY HEAD. >> TRYING TO MOVE IT OUT OF THE WAY. >> OKAY, I CAN DO THAT. I DIDN'T LIKE HOW YOU move forward. Annoyed by you. All right. I just got here. I'm under arrest. I'm just I'm taking y'all to court. LIKE Y'ALL IS A LAME MOTHER. I SWEAR TO GOD. I GOT EVERYTHING on camera. >> ME TOO. >> ME TOO. THAT'S WHY CUZ I LITERALLY IT GAVE HER MY NAME. SHE GAVE HER ID. I DON'T GOT IT. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT? I GAVE YOU MY NAME. YOU CAN'T LOOK ME UP BY MY NAME. WHAT the literally JUST HAVE MY PICTURE THE WHOLE TIME ACTING as a second. I need you to face the car. In the end, the store did not pursue theft charges against them. But because of the woman's own actions, she was convicted of obstructing official business, misusing 911 and disorderly conduct. The lesson is that refusing to cooperate can quickly turn a manageable situation into [music] a much more serious one. Even when someone believes they are being treated unfairly, escalating the situation or [music] misusing emergency services can lead to additional legal consequences. Next, this woman made herself the center of attention with her temper tantrum. >> Threw her card at the clerk, caused disturbance, [screaming] and then we tried to escort her out. >> On the 15th of April, 2023, officers approached a woman after receiving a report that she had thrown a card at a store employee and caused a disturbance inside the store. At this point, she continued to resist while trying to justify her actions. >> Stop and calm down. >> You don't touch me, please. >> I am a police officer. >> I don't know what you are. I'm throwing stuff. I >> thought you throwing your your You threw your card at her. >> She was screaming at me. I was just talking like she was talking. >> Why are you Why are you screaming at her? >> She because that's how she talked. >> What happened? I asked her. I was scared to have my money back because I did not do the right thing. >> So, I was like, "Okay, I'm I'm going give you back the beer. You can put it on my car." I give her the car. And she said, "No, don't do it." I said, "How you're how you're not doing it? I don't get it." >> Listen, when I came in there, I saw you yelling. >> Okay. >> You threw your card at her. >> Yeah. You got to put me in prison because I was yelling, >> man, it's it's really fun. Yeah. You can most certainly go to jail for resistance. You're you're detained. You're detained because you are causing disturbance inside a private business and you're not you're not going to own up to that because I want my >> and you're and you're lucky you didn't go to the ground because you're resisting us. >> How you can sit there and tell us when you resisted us >> your hands. No, you do not have a right to resist. >> You're law enforcement. Come on, we're going to take you. Come on. >> She completely believed she was innocent and seemed unaware that her actions were only making things worse, eventually leading to a resisting arrest charge. Even the arrest itself was difficult, forcing officers to use stronger measures to restrain her. >> Please, please leave me alone. You don't have a lot of background. >> You're not going to resist us. Not going to yell and be disoriented. >> I'm running. Can you please stop? >> Nope. >> I did not say. >> Yeah. Yeah, you did. >> You ready? Yeah. I need an addiction response down. >> Calm down. Calm down. [screaming] Stop. [screaming] >> You're going to kick. You're not going to kick. >> You're not going to kick. get you one. >> You're not going to resist. You're >> not going to resist. >> YOU CANNOT. [screaming] >> YOU'RE BITING ME. >> MA'AM, >> BITE. >> You're get tased. YOU'RE GOING TO GET TASED IF YOU DON'T STOP. >> YOU'RE GOING TO GET TASED. >> Stop resisting. >> You're going to get tased if you don't do. >> Do not bite. Because of her actions, backup officers were called in to assist. What she did had turned the situation into a major scene, drawing the attention of everyone around the entire street corner. [screaming] >> So she was being 22 in day hunt. She threw her. >> Calm down. [screaming] >> Stop. >> Calm down. >> Try kicking me. >> She's biting biting you. >> So, we couldn't get We couldn't get >> That's what I asked for. >> We couldn't get the uh We couldn't get >> sit down. Stay down. [screaming] >> YOU STOP. YOU STOP TOUCHING ME RIGHT NOW. YOU STOP TOUCHING ME. YOU STOP TOUCHING ME. >> Stop touching me. No. >> Stop touching me. >> WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING? STOP. I [laughter] DID NOTHING. NOTHING. >> PUT HER BACK ON THE GROUND. I DID NOTHING. I DID NOTHING. I DID NOTHING. NICK, >> one leg out. [screaming] >> Showing no shame at all, she had caused enough concern among the bystanders that the officers had to step in and explain what was happening. >> She bit my partner and she scrapped me and she kicked me. So, what are you talking about? She threw her card at the clerk, caused disturbance, and then we tried to escort her out. >> This store robbed the tourist. >> You can't kick in and bite an officer. >> Like, come on. >> What do you mean? She got big. >> We are tourists. >> Okay. >> Yeah, we understand. What do you mean you're tourist? What does that mean? >> The money for us. >> She threw her car in a clerk's face, caused disturbance, wanted to be escorted. We took her out. We put her in the car. She started freaking out. This place this place brought money for us. >> You can't buy an officer kick an officer. What's What's the excuse for that? >> Who broke up the situation? Not her. >> What are you talking about? >> Not Not me. >> [ __ ] Look at what she my arm is >> from her, >> bro. She bought you scratching. >> So, here's a story. >> Who are you? >> Do me a favor. >> Okay, give me a second and go over there. The woman was identified as Angelica and was clearly intoxicated, which may have contributed to her inability to control her actions. She also appeared noticeably distressed while inside the police vehicle. >> It's so funny, huh? [laughter] [laughter] >> [laughter] [snorts] >> Sit up. Hey, sit [laughter] up. Sit up. >> It's up. All right. Sit up. [laughter] Sit up. Okay. [gasps] [laughter] >> [laughter] >> Take a deep breath. Hey, take a deep breath. Breathe. Stop crying. >> What's your name? [crying] [laughter] >> Hello. What's your name? >> Angelica. >> What is it? Angelica. [laughter] >> Angelica, take a deep breath. Hey, talk to talk to me. Stop crying. >> Angelica was charged with battery, disorderly conduct, and trespassing. She was sentenced to a mental health diversion program. Her actions showed how quickly a simple dispute can escalate when someone refuses to cooperate and loses control of their behavior. Staying calm and following officer's instructions can prevent a minor situation from turning into additional charges and a much more s before moving on to the next shoplifting case. Let's head to this store for a combat zone that quickly spiraled out of control. >> Hey, she got it. She got it. >> I was dead, too. Hey, I got the handcuffs off you. On the 3rd of February 2022, police received a report of a fight that had broken out at a convenience store. The suspect was reportedly a woman who took beer and then attacked a store employee to avoid paying. This was the video recorded by a witness showing what happened at the time. >> She got it. She got it. >> Somebody call you on the Yeah. cops. He didn't let me in my car. He didn't let me in my car. >> He was dead. >> That doesn't matter. That's Are you crazy? >> Hey, 911. Please come here. That's bull. >> You are You can't >> You are talking about >> Yeah, you were stealing. stealing all my >> Surprisingly, despite everything that had happened, when the officer arrived at the scene, she calmly denied everything as if nothing had happened at all. >> My wife by Alexander Springs. I live in Florida. >> I came in here with a lot of money. >> Okay. >> Okay. He will not let me buy I try to buy a pack of uh beer. Won't let me buy that. I come back with one twisted tea because I have to drive all the way over here. I've drank none and I was going to drink it right here with my friends down the road one of these roads. I don't know exactly which one literally. I think I had a problem with coming back to my hometown and saying whoa wow that's up. So I'm having a hard time. I came here with a lot of money. They're all in on it. Y'all can have the money. I don't even know how much money I came in here with. But hey, I would like to take a breathalyzer and be allowed to buy my beer or use some of my damn money that I'm not leaving with. >> I need to check my car. How much? I have some of it. I got some of it. I got some of it. >> First of all, >> I had a guy pinned up against the wall. >> We're going to We're going to stay with you. >> You ain't take me. I didn't do nothing wrong. You didn't You're not listening. Here you go. You want this? >> I definitely don't. Look at Look. And when you're in my car stealing my rest of my money that I can't >> get the beer >> if you don't calm down. >> I'm not having a hard time. I have anxiety and my medicine's over there which is why I was trying to buy an alcohol and if there's anything else that if there's anything else do you want to >> step out here. >> The officers deliberately moved her outside so she would not disrupt the store while they handled the situation. However, that was difficult because she repeatedly tried to go back inside and refused to stay in one place. >> No, I'm going by my money because they're robbing me. I think I locked it this time. >> Oh, that dude. I know where the I am. I know you're not going to tell me that, dude. I literally >> You're not going to throw me away from you either cuz that's resisting. You will go to jail for that. Okay. >> I'm not resisting anything because you're not arrested me because I've done nothing wrong. >> I'm 34 years old. I can show you my ID. I've just that I grew up down this road. >> Explain what happened. That's That's irrelevant. Explain what happened. >> It's pretty expensive. I've been here a very long time. I'm [ __ ] pissed, dude. Like, no. I like how am I not allowed to buy beer? Because I haven't slept. That's not fair. Unless I was literally going to see my friend down here. >> Honestly, I just feel offended. >> That's what happened today. I was trying to buy something else. Don't remember what that was. What happened today? What happened the last >> drink today? >> I've had a apparently a long year. Nothing. I'm on nothing. Nothing. Step back from me. >> I'm on nothing. I'm withdrawing off my medication because I can't make my way back. >> Ma'am, we're not going back to the store. >> Okay. Well, we're going to I want some of my money back. >> I handed him a bunch of money for the beer. One pack of beer. That's like at the most $21 or something. >> You're not going in the car. >> I need to check how much money you have in the car. >> Clearly, she was not in a stable state of mind, and the officers [music] were concerned that she might ignore their commands and do something she shouldn't. Because of that, they decided to place her in handcuffs and temporarily detain her. >> I gave him a lot of money. >> Okay, >> you're No, you're not. Yeah, you can. You can go. You don't want Bernie. >> Thank you. >> You can't hear me near me. That's the problem. >> There's two sides to every story. And damn sure you're and damn sure I cleaned you the up >> this way. >> You better not. I didn't do nothing. I protected myself that I know where coming. my at my home >> and I'm at where if someone puts a hands on me like that it's over dude I will protect myself and that's what I did I'm protecting my money I'm protecting myself and that's exactly what the I did not do any other time >> come with me >> I'll go anywhere you say sir >> we're going right over here >> I'll go jail anywhere hospital don't take me uh I live >> inside I don't live anywhere near where the I'm not doing nothing dude I You ain't even arrested. Why am I in handcuffs? Yeah, >> I know. You going to have to Can you move the truck another way and explain it to me? >> Things did not stop once she was placed inside the police vehicle. [music] The woman became increasingly unstable and even managed to quickly slip out of her handcuffs, making it seem as though this was far from her first time dealing with them. >> I can't breathe. Hell yeah. I'm not that level. 2022 and some Y'all can't even drive down the goddamn mother. Y'all think I'm Yeah. Kill me back here. I dare you, bro. Kill me back here. Kill me back here. Kill me back here. Oh, yeah. We going to have problems, bro. Oh, we going to have major problems. I'm about to grab that gun. I I was dead, too. Hey, I got the handcuffs off you. Hey, I can't. You got me up. I don't play that bull. Where's my turn, bro? Now. Here. Right now. Where the What's the address here? Here's your handcuffs. >> I can't breathe. I can't breathe. You cannot log me in here and risk my life. I'm on my medication. Please let me just air this way. >> Get on my truck. >> Yeah. You do not let me in because I keep breathing. There's absolutely no air. Like I'm serious, bro. I want to steal my last. Shortly afterward, the officer approached the store employee to find out exactly what had happened and understand the reason behind the incident. >> And then she offered me, you know, I give you big money and I need a beer. >> So I see that she is little, you know, not there. >> She said I I'm not intoxicated. I am this. I'm that. So after seeing that, I don't even know. But she money. >> Oh yeah. >> But she grabbed the beer. >> So when y'all came outside, you had the beer in your hand cuz she had the video. So I saw the video. >> When she No, she grabbed the beer and then she put it in her. >> Yeah, I know that you're going to take it. So, I >> Okay, so you took it >> exactly >> and then what happened right here? >> She grabbed my shards and then you know all that. >> Any anything else? >> So, she I mean whatever you see in the video, you know, she scratches and all that. I didn't even touch it. >> At the point that she had her hand around your neck, did at any point you lose your airway to breathe to grab air, oxygen. Okay. I mean I I mean thanks God Lori with this my help she came and she jumped it. If not then she's going to grab it. You know I choke to death. Who knows? >> The woman was charged with theft, resisting a merchant with violence, felony battery, and resisting without violence. She was later sentenced to 30 days in jail. This case shows how quickly a minor theft can escalate [music] when someone refuses to cooperate and becomes aggressive. Following instructions and staying calm can prevent a difficult situation from becoming even more serious. Next, this woman took actions that completely contradicted what she had been saying. >> You cannot come here anymore is what I'm telling you. >> Okay, go ahead. Do it. >> Okay, come on. >> I don't you understand me? I don't give trouble. I just come. I don't drink no nothing. On the 20th of May 2023, police received a call from a Family Dollar store reporting a woman who was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave the premises. When officers arrived, the [music] woman immediately gave them her side of the story. >> What's going on? >> Yeah, I just come and buy the juice for 12 134. This is my receipt. Just follow me. Look at my bag and the caution is follow me right here. I finish checking follow me in the the front door. He try take my picture. I say what happened? You see nothing. Huh? What happened? Still look at my bed. Okay, this is the this is the juice one one $124. >> She presented the situation as if nothing had happened, but the store employee had a completely different story. >> How you doing, sir? I'm Christina. >> Nice to meet you. >> Um, she came, didn't say one word to her, >> right? >> She was st I cast her out. She's the one that giving me eye contact and keep looking back at me. >> So, I just start giving her the eye contact back while she's exiting the door. So, >> when I finish cast her out, >> I just stood right here, never asked her for her bag or anything. Didn't say nothing, sir. I just watch everybody who comes in and out. >> Right. Right. I'm at a scene >> and she came back in here to me. So I backed up and stood over there. I'm like, "We have a problem. You watching me." I said, "I'm entitled to watch everyone in the store." >> She came back in here. She told me to call the police. So I went ahead and called the police. So can you please give her no trespassing for me, please? >> You got your ID? >> I don't have ID. >> You don't have any ID? >> Yes. >> Nothing on you. >> All right. Well, let's go outside. I got to get your name. She doesn't want you to come back in the store. All right. Come back. >> What do you What do you What do you What do you mean come back on this? >> You cannot come here anymore is what I'm telling you. >> Okay, go ahead. Do it. >> Okay. >> It turned out that the suspect herself had wanted the police to come. She acted as though she understood the situation, but in reality, she still did not understand what was happening as she repeatedly questioned why she was being trespassed. >> Go outside real quick. >> Store. >> What? This store? You cannot come back to Family Dollar. This store. >> Family. I bet sometime you say I don't come back on dollar. >> What? What does that mean? >> You cannot come back here. >> What does that COME BACK? I'M FROM I'M on the the front door. Why? I'm in the front door. SHE TRIED TO TAKE my picture. >> Okay, but this is the problem. If you would have just left my bag, >> if you would have left be >> Now I'm telling you, you have to leave the store. If you don't leave the store, >> I don't leave the store. >> You're going to go to jail. >> You don't understand. >> You are going to go to jail. Do you understand that? >> Go ahead. Yes. Go ahead. Check my bag. >> Yeah, I'm not going to check your bag. I'm going to take you to jail. >> No. >> Come on. Let's go. >> No. >> Let's go. >> Do it right here. >> Let's go. >> Give me Do it right here. >> No. No. We're doing that. We're doing outside. >> I have no idea what you just said. >> Finish. Do it. >> Okay. Let's go outside so we can do it. >> Do it. >> Come on. You got to go. >> You got to go. >> I'm going to just wait for a female to get here. >> Okay. And then >> no problem. >> We'll handle it from there. >> Yeah. >> You do understand if you don't leave, you're going to go to jail, right? >> I don't leave. You understand me? I don't leave. You make trouble. I just come in. I don't drink. No, nothing. I just come in the front. I She's follow me. I stay in the front door. She say I What happened? You just follow me. Take my try. Take my picture. >> I get that. >> Yeah. >> Okay. You're in public. Anybody could take your picture. >> What does that mean? Picture for what? I don't know. >> I take something in the store. >> She never said that, did she? Did she? >> She never said that. WHY? WHY? WHY? SHE NEVER SAID THAT. YOU SAID YOU SAID YOU SAID you supposed to take my picture. >> Why show my picture? You take You take You take I'm dumb. >> Listen. >> Okay. Check my bag. >> She kept emphasizing the situation and trying to portray herself as the victim, but her own actions told a completely different story. Even though she insisted that the officers check her bag, when they actually tried to do so, she refused to cooperate. All right. You want Let me get you back. >> Okay. Give me back. >> Let me get Let me get it. >> See you now. Take me for >> Are you going to leave here voluntarily or do I have to take you to jail? >> Jail for what? I take >> after warning. She does not want you in the store. She told you you can't come back here. You told I check the juice. HEY. HEY. WHAT? >> HEY. WHAT? >> HEY. WHAT? HEY. WHAT? >> If you do not leave. >> Hey. What? >> If you do not leave, >> I don't take something. Hey. What? >> If you do not leave, you are going to go. >> No. I don't leave. But me not. >> If you do not leave. >> That's not as considered trespass after warning. I don't want to take you to jail. >> Jail for what? >> For trespass after warning. I was told >> I don't take no >> You were told you have to leave. >> Leave >> the store. >> Leave the store. >> Just leave the store. >> Check the camera. Check the camera. >> Leave the store. >> No, I don't leave. >> So what? You're going to stay here? >> Check the minute for the minute. Report my basement. Give me the report. What now? 51. >> Once again, her words contradicted her actions. She had been telling the officers to take her away, but once they actually put her in handcuffs, the situation quickly escalated. >> This is your last right now. >> Okay. Sure. Yes. >> Nope. I gave you your shot. >> Okay. That's it. Yes. >> All right. RELAX. DO NOT DO NOT MOVE. [clears throat] I thought to loosen that one. >> No. >> Oh, yeah. She was charged with battery, resisting arrest with violence, and trespassing. The court later found her incompetent to proceed, and the charges were dismissed. [music] Refusing to follow a lawful order can quickly turn a minor dispute into a serious legal situation. Cooperating with officers and leaving when instructed can prevent unnecessary escalation and additional charges. Next, this woman would only make the situation even more chaotic. >> Turn around. Oh, >> turn around. >> He's going to break my ass. [screaming] >> On the 29th of March, 2022, officers approached the woman after she was suspected of being involved in a theft. She was reportedly trying to leave despite being stopped by an employee, but the officers did not expect the situation to escalate shortly afterward. >> Mobile? >> Yeah. Go and put your stuff on my hood for me, please. >> Excuse me? >> Put your stuff on my hood. >> Cuz you going to ask why? >> Because I've got to figure out if you're the one taking stuff from over here. >> Oh, figure out. Really? >> DON'T EVEN >> NO, I'M NOT A PROSTITUTE. I'm not a prostitute. I'm not a prostitute. You don't prostitute. I'm not a Turn around. No. >> Turn around. >> HE'S GOING TO BREAK MY HAND. [screaming] HE'S GOING TO BREAK MY HAND. >> GET OFF OF ME. >> TURN AROUND. >> GET OFF OF ME. Get out. [screaming] >> Turn around. >> Get off. Get out. [screaming] >> Get off. HE'S TAKING MY RING. HE'S GOT MY RING. NO. STOP MOVING. [screaming] >> Shut the Keep going. [screaming] >> [screaming] >> It's not coming. >> She's the one. >> Immediately after being handcuffed, the woman was taken to the police vehicle. She clearly refused to accept what had happened and continued making things difficult for the officers during their questioning. >> Why does matter? >> Why do you even ask those questions? Why the does it matter? >> If you want medical >> Why does it matter? >> Appreciate it. >> Stand right here. >> Why? >> So I can take pictures of it. >> I don't need it. >> Well, I have to take pictures. Just go ahead. >> No. That way you can laugh at me. >> No, nobody's laughing at you. >> Whatever. Those pictures are used to laugh at me. >> No, it's not. >> Why are you taking it with the phone? Huh? BECAUSE >> YOU'RE HELPING CHRISTINA TAKE over my property. >> You're helping Christina. You went over to my ass. You forgot that [ __ ] huh? The woman was completely out of control while the store employee provided further testimony about her strange behavior earlier. The >> cooler, she was like talking to herself and like falling into the cooler and she started walking. She has like a bunch of food items. I asked her, I was like, "Are you okay?" >> And yeah, it's just food, but like I want trespassed, you know, I don't know. Are you okay? And she's just like >> older or younger? >> I don't know what the acne is. She probably is younger but looks older. Hey, we just got a call for a shoplifting. That's all it was. >> No, it wasn't cuz you didn't even tell me anything at all. >> Okay, I'm telling you. >> Hey, did you ever >> did you start running? >> No. She's like, "No, I'm going to pay for this." She's like, "You're the cop. You can't stop." And I was like, "Actually, I'm not. That would be a cool job. Like, that' be fun." And so, she walks out and then I was like, "You need to pay for that." And she's like, "Well, no." I was like, "You know, it's fine. I'm already on the phone with the cops." So, okay. >> So, she took out and started walking and started screaming and whatever. She scream. Are you guys able to record the video right now or not? >> Um, I could try. >> Yeah, we can and then I'll give you in just a second. >> Ma'am, can you stop? I'm telling you. >> No, I cannot. No. >> I'm trying to ask you about it. >> No. >> So, you don't want to talk to me? >> No. >> Okay, perfect. >> She wasn't wanting to cooperate. So, as I was trying to get her to the ground, she swung me swung and hit me on the right side of the face. >> All right. >> Yeah. Not hard. >> More irritating than anything. She's spitting her chips everywhere and [ __ ] know me. That means you don't want to know who the I am. That's what makes me who I am. That's what I'm ASKING AS A PERSON. YOU DON'T WANT TO GET TO KNOW ME AS A PERSON. SO THAT'S NOT MY IDENTITY THAT YOU'RE ASKING FOR. YOU'RE JUST ASKING for a NAME AND A PERSON, A NUMBER. YOU PUT ME DOWN AS A NUMBER AND NOT AS A PERSON. >> OKAY. So what's your first name? All right. You're going to be charged with concealing identity. I tried to give you a chance. I'm going to find SOMETHING THAT DRIVES ME LESS. >> She showed no signs of calming down. And even when the officers attempted to search her, the process remained difficult. WHAT THE stealing my [ __ ] THEY'RE STEALING MY THEY'RE STEALING my They're stealing. >> So, it's going to go in this bag because you're under arrest. >> No, they're doing it. No. [screaming] NO. NO. GET THE OFF of me. You keep ass for your women. Then all you have will have me down FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. YOU'LL BE PASSED ON WITH NO ONE EVER making you happy. Ever. GIVE MY BOOTSTEP CARD. You sit down. >> That's my bootstrap card. You get nothing here. Nothing. >> Yeah. Oh, >> I know the food for sure. It's probably looks like >> Yeah, that's E. I'm >> sorry. Did she eat them? >> She started eating them. That's probably part of what she was spitting all over me. >> She spit that on you? >> Yeah. Well, she was in the middle of munching when I stopped her, so she was yawning and carrying on. And >> I don't know if anyone lives in her purse. >> What's Where she still from? >> Probably breaking in a vehicle. >> Even after arriving at the police station, the officers gave her another opportunity to cooperate, but once again, she refused, putting herself at risk of facing additional charges. >> You want to give us your name and date of birth now >> or you want to take the charge? >> What charge? >> That is not a charge. >> Concealing. >> I'm not a charge. >> You're lawful. >> That is not a charge. You feel? >> That is not a charge that you're making that [ __ ] up. >> You're going to be charged with identity. >> Making it up. >> All I need is your birthday. >> You're making it up. But my birthday is Why do you mean my birthday? >> Okay. To identify you because you're a suspect in a crime. >> What crime? >> For shoplifting and bad police officer. That's what you're being [ __ ] >> [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] If you give me identity, we are harassing me. >> If we give you >> You're harassing me. >> Okay. So, you're >> I'm being harassed. >> Concealing identity as well. >> I'm being harassed. >> The woman was charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, concealing identity, and battery upon a peace officer. Refusing to cooperate can quickly turn a minor situation into a much more serious legal problem. Once officers have lawful grounds to detain someone, [music] resisting or escalating the situation only creates additional consequences. Next, this woman continued to resist fiercely, refusing to cooperate no matter what. [screaming] On the 4th of June 2022, officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report that a woman who had been trespassed had returned. However, when officers approached her, she tried to walk away, ignoring their repeated commands to stop. >> The police department, I need to talk to you. >> Thank you. Just real quick, you're not in trouble. >> Ma'am, if you keep walking away, we're going to have to arrest you cuz I've already [music] listen. I've been explaining to you. I will arrest you. I will rescue you. >> I don't have to talk to you. >> Well, you have to stop cuz you're under a detention. >> How? >> Because I'm going to >> If you let me explain it to you, I can explain it to you. >> So, the ladies across the people across the street want to issue you a criminal trespass. >> How? Whenever I can explain it to you? >> No, you can't. Because they're [ __ ] I didn't even get to go buy food or anything. >> You know, I I I understand that. I get it. I understand that. >> You don't understand. >> Yes, I do. They didn't want you to go inside. That's why they didn't You go inside and I go to that store all the time. And that's why they want us to issue a criminal trespass. >> I go to the store all the time and I buy [ __ ] >> I get it. I I get it. I get it. And I'm not saying that you steal anything. I'm not >> I'm just telling you that's what they want to do. And so I have to do that. >> I I have to. If somebody >> uh since they called us and told me to come and issue a criminal trespass on it, >> right? I don't have to. >> Because you're starting to you're starting to obstruct what I tell you to do because you're refusing to go back to my car. This is your last chance. Let's go. Go. >> Go. Grab the leash. Grab the leash or the dog. >> I don't care. You're about to go to jail. You are going TO GO TO JAIL. GO TO MY PATROL CAR. FOR WHAT? >> STOP. WHAT? >> The woman showed no signs of cooperating, forcing the officers to take action. However, she only caused the situation to escalate, turning the encounter into complete chaos. It's >> my dog. Like, I'll give you the dog for what? Like, I don't even want >> like twisting it the wrong way, dude. >> Stop. Like, I'm not even resisting arrest or anything. >> You're going to hiccup. >> No, I'm not. Like all I said is that all I SAID IS THAT I wasn't going to sign the paper. Like you can't do this to me. I haven't done nothing. >> STOP. I haven't done nothing. >> I didn't EVEN >> Now you're under arrest. >> Now you're under arrest. Stand up. Stand up. Stand up. Bend your legs and stand up. >> Stand up. >> Waiting for my friend. >> Stand up. >> Stand up. Stand up. Stand up. >> Stand up. STAND UP. STAND UP. >> NO. >> I haven't done nothing. >> Stand up so we can walk. I haven't done anything. >> Get that dog back now. Come here. Come here, bud. Hey, >> walk. Okay. >> Stand up and walk. >> I'M NOT GOING WITH YOU ANYWAY. You are. You're going to jail. I can even SHOW YOU MY I WAS WAITING FOR SOMETHING to >> You're going to jail at this point out of the store. >> You're under arrest. WE'RE DONE. >> HOW? >> BECAUSE I TOLD YOU MULTIPLE times to go to my car. >> You tell You were ordering me. I didn't want to do anything. >> She had unknowingly gotten herself charged with resisting arrest. Even being escorted to the patrol car became difficult. Yet, she continued to believe that she was being wrongfully arrested. >> You guys are falsely arresting me and I'm going to sue. >> Like, I haven't done nothing. No, >> I haven't done anything, dude. Like I swear >> I was waiting for him to bring me some food from inside and he didn't even bring me food. >> You're going to jail. GET >> I HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN IN THAT STORE. You I don't have warrants. Nothing. >> Now you're going TO JAIL. >> FOR WHAT? >> FOR OBSTRUCTION. >> FOR WHAT OBSTRUCTION? I WAS SITTING THERE WITH A DOG. >> GET IN THE CAR. YOU'RE GETTING >> YOU can't tase me cuz I'm pregnant. You >> okay? We're not going to do this. Go get in the car. >> No, >> there's no way around it. Okay. >> You No, >> I want a real REASON TO GO TO JAIL CUZ I WAS JUST SITTING THERE WAITING for food. >> I haven't even been in the >> the car. GET IN THE CAR. >> NO. >> LET'S figure out what happened. >> STOP. STOP. [screaming] >> You kick me, you're going to get another charge. GET ON THE WAY OUT. [screaming] YOU HAVE NO RIGHT. I haven't even DONE ANYTHING. [screaming] I'M WAITING FOR FOOD. >> GET IN. >> GET IN. GET IN. >> She immediately claimed that she was pregnant, seemingly hoping to receive more lenient treatment. However, her continued refusal to cooperate only made the situation worse. And even inside the patrol car, she continued to act out of control. [screaming] [laughter] >> [screaming] [screaming] >> Now what is your name? >> I WAS WAITING FOR FOOD. What is your name? >> Estella. >> Estella. [screaming] [screaming] >> If you break ANYTHING IN MY CAR, >> [screaming] >> WHAT? [screaming] [crying] [screaming] >> [screaming] [laughter] [screaming] >> CLEARLY, her behavior was far from what would be expected from a pregnant [music] woman. Even though she believed she was being treated unfairly, the officers explained the situation to her, but she simply refused to listen or care. >> Hey, Estella, listen to me. I want you to listen. Okay. All right, Estella. And listen, if you don't listen to me, you're not going to understand what's going on. All right? You don't have to look at me. I don't care. But I want you to listen to me, okay? Okay? From the very beginning, I never told you that you had a CTW at the family. Then listen, I'm going to explain it. Okay? I never told you that you had a criminal trespass. I never told you that you stole anything. I never accused you of any of those things. What I told you, what I was trying to tell you was that the people at Family Dollar wanted to issue you a criminal trespass warrant for whatever reason. They don't have to have a reason. Okay? Now, that's why I was telling you over and over and over that I need you to go to my patrol unit. That way, I could get all of your information and then that way I could issue you a criminal trespass warning. Okay? Even though you didn't, even if you would have refused to sign the criminal trespass warning, you would not have gone to jail. Okay? You would have still gone on your way. And so when I grabbed a hold of your arms to put you in handcuffs, you began trying to pull away from me. And then when I was trying to walk you to my patrol car, you still continued trying to pull away from me. At which point, I took you down to the ground and put you in handcuffs. And at which point, that's why you're now under arrest. So, I'm going to ask you to step out of my patrol car, please. Okay. That way, we can get you your flip flops on. Okay. Your flip flops. Your flip flops are right here, fella. You need help getting out that way you're not stuck up backwards. I don't want you to fall. You need help. The woman was charged with resisting arrest. Refusing to cooperate with officers can quickly turn a manageable situation into a serious one. Staying calm and following lawful instructions can prevent unnecessary escalation and additional charges. What do you think about cases like this? Get out and get into the car. >> I need my son. Where's my son? >> On the 27th of April 2024, police responded to a reported shoplifting incident at a retail store. The suspect was a woman pushing a stroller. She was accused of filling an entire shopping cart with merchandise and making no attempt to pay for it. When officers arrived at the scene, she tried to flee and the situation quickly descended into chaos. Yeah. >> Oh my god. >> Oh my god. >> I came in with this. >> No. Give me my gun. >> No. Stop. >> I got a problem. >> I [ __ ] came in with this truck, >> man. I saw you coming with >> You came in with my bag. >> You're going to let me go. >> No. Give me my baby. >> I want my son. Give me my son. Give me my son. >> Give me my son. Come on. We're going to go outside. >> No, we're not. No, you're not. >> Yes, we are. >> I'm not going to jail. >> The woman showed no concern for her own family despite her actions. Even as she was being escorted to the patrol car, she continued to display signs of emotional instability. Do >> you have any weapons on you that I need to know about? >> No, I'm not going to deal. >> Okay. Okay. We're going to take a seat in my car. >> What are you doing? What are you doing? You're still going to sit in my car. I don't This act I don't really care for. No. Swing your feet into the car. >> I need an ambulance. >> For what? Get up and get into the car. >> I need my son. Where's my son? >> All right. Come on. You really care about him when you were stealing. >> You can't touch me like this. >> Trying to put you in the car, man. >> I need an ambulance. >> Okay. I need an ambulance. >> Stop. Stop. >> You can't touch me like that. >> Stop. >> You cannot touch me like that. >> Stop. >> I need an ambulance now. I need >> Do you understand your rights? >> Fantastic. >> Any concern she appeared to show for her loved ones was nothing more than an act. By this point, officers were trying to obtain information about him, but she had no intention of cooperating. >> Fire is going to come check you out here shortly. What's your What's your kiddo's name? You don't want to talk to us? >> Okay. Is there any like child medical card in there? I'm going to try to fill out that child removal form. Um, so the lady that's arrested now, she's shoplifting. She's holding on to the stroller while they're like trying to stop her. The kiddo is just getting >> around maybe hit the ground a couple times. >> Yeah, maybe. Sounds like he might have gotten caught one of the times, but he's just getting >> jostled and crashed. >> Yeah. >> Is that accurate, Ne? Like during this whole thing, kiddo just get tossed back and forth, back and forth. It might have hit the ground maybe. Um the guy didn't catch up. >> He was definitely being neglected. He was getting trashed around here. Hopefully he get all over tipped over twice. Um he did get tipped over a couple times. >> He has not shed a single tear the entire time though. He has not um said a complaint. He's handled it very well. He seems to be a very happy guy. He's very smart. He knows where shoes go. He knows what keys are. He's >> great. >> Huh? I can do so. >> If you don't have anyone that can come get your child, we're going to have to contact CPS. >> Okay. >> Huh? >> What did you swallow? >> Huh? >> What? >> Fetties. Can you swallow fetties and you're pregnant? That's a smart thing to do. Given her condition, it was fortunate that her loved one remained safe. What was even more concerning, however, was that this was not her first encounter with Child Protective Services, CPS. This report briefly, it looks like uh last year the she was brought to Valley due to medical stuff with a shoplift incident. She had a son with her and medical staff thought that due to her mental state, she wasn't fit to uh take care of the kids. So, this is a prior CPS intake number that you might be able to give them. So that way they already have the names there instead of giving them all the names. It looks like they spelled the name differently in that report. Uh and that's their report number here. Um >> the child's name is different. >> Yeah. Is different than whatever paperwork he found. >> Okay. >> Um so uh yeah, >> at this point officers moved the woman to another patrol car so they could transport her to the police station. But once again, nothing went smoothly. Oh, you're you're hurting me. I'm pregnant. You're hurting me. >> I'm pregnant. You're hurting me. >> Why are you being like that? >> There's no reason for you to fall. >> I can't. I'm >> sit in the seat. Can you act like an adult, please? >> Hey, ma'am. I understand you don't feel well and that you're pregnant. So, I don't want to rip you and pull you into this car, but I will. >> You need to We are >> But you need to stand up and sit your butt down before I have to physically remove you. >> I'm trying. >> Okay. >> Put your feet on the roof and push yourself up. >> I'm trying. >> Okay. Would you like assistance? Cuz I will assist you. >> My body is >> There you go. Okay. Rotate your butt upwards. Sit up on your bottom. >> There you go. Stay right there. >> You need to stay leaning up. >> You're going to the hospital right this second. >> There you go. >> Holy crap. >> You're going to the hospital, but your kiddo is going to be going with CPS. All right. >> All right. Ready, bud? The woman was charged with theft in the third degree, obstruction, possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with evidence. Her case was also referred for possible child endangerment, and officers discovered multiple outstanding warrants. Using loved ones as a shield does not erase criminal responsibility. In the end, every reckless decision only created more charges, greater consequences, and put an innocent family member at risk. Next, this man turned a shoplifting incident into a bicycle pursuit. Come on. Can I give it? >> Get your hand out of your backpack. >> I was going to sell it. Obviously, I was going to go buy food and put it put it uh in pretend that was good to >> On the 22nd of August 2024, police received a report that two men had been stuffing multiple bottles of alcohol into their backpacks to steal them. One of them, 48-year-old Jerry, fled the scene on a bicycle, triggering a tense police pursuit. [snorts] 909 just for you 905. 905. He's not stopping. I've got stayed out with me. We're at a He just >> stop. I HAVE LEGACIES ON ME. WE GOT HIM. >> Give up. Get up. Give up. >> Get your hand out of your backpack. >> Okay. Come on. Sit up on the curb, dude. >> Why are you running? You got a warrant? >> You on bond? >> Do you need medical attention? >> The man had exhausted nearly all of his energy trying to escape, leaving him completely worn out and barely able to answer any of the officer's questions. You >> didn't hear anything? >> You didn't hear my sirens. What about your eyes? Are you blind? >> Cuz you looked at me multiple times. >> Why you crossing the road then? You're on a bike. You're about >> in the intersection. You drove right by me. >> I'm sorry. I was trying to get to safety, man. >> Trying to get to safety. >> Yeah, my blessing. >> I'm trying to get to safety. Why you crossing Highway 16 multiple times? That's not very safe, is it? >> No, I'm trying. >> Just alcohol boss. I don't know why you're running. You got a warrant? >> No. >> My vision spots. So, >> they're coming. So when I'm like that, I get nervous and I run. >> What's that have to do with your vision? >> Because I'm a diabetic, it affects my eyes. I only got one right of prosthetic. >> It doesn't stop you from stealing. >> I know. I know. That was stupid. [laughter] I mean, >> come on, man. Walmart's like the worst place you could steal from. They're watching. >> I swear. I swear I got All I see is spots. >> They're coming. >> When I was riding, all I see was spots and and lights. My right eyes going going out, too. >> Yeah, that's what he says. That's where I always stuff with the police. Do >> you have a driver license or or identification card? >> No. >> Nothing in your backpack? >> He repeatedly used his personal condition as an excuse to change the subject whenever officers brought up the earlier theft. He even appeared to deny responsibility at first, but that effort quickly collapsed under pressure from the police. >> You guys decided to go to Walmart and steal. >> No. No. I was I I was going to go I mean I listen >> like you know how how dumb that sounds. I understand that but I've seen I've seen him around but I only have convers I was about to fight him because I haven't ate since yesterday morning. >> Okay. >> So >> I would understand that and I would buy that if you were stealing loaf bread peanut butter food whatever your backpack's full of alcohol dude. >> I understand that I I was going to sell it obviously I was going to go buy food and put it put it uh in the tent that was given to me. So, if I'm in a position where I can't afford food and I haven't eaten for over a day, I'm probably looking to just steal a quick bite to eat, I would understand that. But you you have a backpack full of alcohol and you're running from >> I understand I've been homeless for almost a year now. >> Okay. >> No, I got cans and everything. So, it was just a desperate, stupid dumb measure. >> Okay. The suspect was found to have stolen three bottles of tequila, two bottles of whiskey, and a set of bicycle lights, all of which were brand new and still sealed with security tags attached. Officers later recovered all of the stolen items. >> He's got some brand new >> I will set him down. I'm not going to Well, okay. >> That's good. Oh, I didn't see you had >> Jeez. Um, there's some bike lights in there that were I'm guessing stolen, too. I'm guessing those don't look like they've been in his backpack long. I can look at video. I probably got it. >> You want to get those? >> He didn't. >> Hey, >> he didn't hit his head at all. >> Oh, he didn't. >> No, he didn't hit his head at all. >> He fell off a bike. >> No, he hit this. He hit like this >> and went Okay. On >> the front of my head. No, you didn't. Listen, >> I just looked at the video. >> We still need to get you a hand. >> Get those cuffs off. >> Gary, what hospital do you go to? >> All right. >> I'm going to start getting some vital signs. He's going to check your blood sugar. >> Oh, right here. >> At first, the man had plenty of energy to run. Now he was bringing up all kinds of medical conditions as if they would change anything. They didn't. And the officers had already made up their minds. >> Because he's going to jail. >> I got a code or something. >> What's that? >> You're going to jail. Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. You're going to jail. >> It doesn't matter how long you sit in the hospital for. >> I I understand. I understand. >> Ready? Stand. >> I should I should have been taking medication for all. >> But I honestly I get paranoid. I I haven't been sleeping through days. >> Okay. That has nothing to do with you stealing. Nothing to do with bail jumping. Nothing to do with you. Excuse me. I'm just I'm just trying to figure this out myself by the thing out loud. >> Can Can we Can we work on getting the ambulance first? Then we can talk about everything else. All right. >> Bud moves. Can you lay back though? Swing your feet up. You got it. >> Being charged with retail theft, >> bail jumping, and felony fleeing. Okay. Felony fleeing. Why is it felony? >> She clean. >> So is felony? >> Yes. Yep. >> That's why you need to make better choices. if you're going to be cruising around with him. >> Yeah, I'll take that with me. I'm going to >> I'm going to have to ride down with him. >> Yeah, now that he knows he's going. >> Um he asked if they could do an X-ray in there and not the hospital. So, I'm guessing he's like second guessing what he's doing and he wants to go to jail. So, >> if you want to take the alcohol back to Walmart. >> Sure. Yeah, I can do that. >> Jerry was ultimately convicted of felony fleeing, eluding an officer, retail theft, and two counts of bail jumping. Taking responsibility for your actions is always better than running away as excuses and avoidance only lead to more serious consequences. Next, this woman showed absolutely no remorse for what she had done. >> And that's it. >> Oh, two credit cards. >> It was two two cars and $50. >> OH, my keys. My car. Don't put him. >> Ma'am, get inside the car. >> Get inside the car. On the 14th [music] of June 2024, police received an emergency call from a woman who had discovered that her card and personal belongings had been stolen. To understand the situation more clearly, we will now hear the account from the victim. >> Good. Good. Um, so tell me what happened. >> Okay, so we were at Paxton and I had put like my keys somewhere like right on top of like something I was looking for and then when I went to go get them, they were gone. >> Your keys? Yeah, like my my Well, >> so it had like money in it, all my cards, like uh my work key. >> Okay. >> And um >> inside Paxton, right? >> Yeah, it was inside Paxton. >> Okay. >> And then um yeah, like they were stolen and then I the only reason I noticed is cuz like I got a notification from my bank that somebody had bought something from Foot Locker. >> Okay. >> So I ran to Foot Locker. When I walked into Foot Locker, they were there, >> but I didn't recognize them. The victim's card was later used at a nearby foot locker, which helped police quickly locate the suspect. [music] However, all parties claimed they were innocent, raising suspicion. >> I got my own right here investigation. Hopefully or what you got to be the turkey. Come on, baby. >> Where the baby in the stroller? >> Huh? >> Get the baby in the stroller. Baby, >> I need one. >> I'm going right now. You need the right. >> So, where we going with my wallet? >> Right there. It's right there where you're stoked outside of >> him. I'm open for my baby. >> Listen. >> Ma'am. Ma'am, we ask you to stay over here. Now I'm going to put you in the car. Right. >> There you go. Right here. I'm not moving. >> It's open later. >> If you acted like her as a thief, your behavior would show a complete lack of concern for your wrongdoing, which would only raise more suspicion about what you might do next. At that point, police would step in just as they did with the suspect [music] here. >> Don't play games with me right now. >> Your daughter is going to go with him. >> You're going to get inside. Look at me. Look at me. Hello. Is that her father? You're going to get in the police car without causing a problem. >> Yes, sir. >> Get in the police car now. >> So, I'm getting arrested. >> Get in the police car now. Walk over here. >> He's saying I'm getting arrested. >> Listen to me. >> Your baby's right here. >> Sit inside the police car. Okay. Sit inside the police car. Nobody's leaving until we say it's time to go. >> Did you double lock her? >> Yeah. >> All right. Sit inside the car. Stop talking to my baby. >> We are in control of this, okay? Nobody's going to do nothing until we say so. Get inside the car. >> Sit inside the car correctly. >> So, I'm not >> Watch your legs. >> Let me get the Do you have them right in the car? >> The receipt. >> Ma'am, what's your name? >> Shakanda. >> Chanda. >> Shukanda. >> Okay. >> Right after that, police directly questioned her about the missing keys. So, you guys are going to stand here and say you had no funds on this card, but yet you guys go ahead and give him a liner." I said, "Okay." So, you know what? I went ballistic and I left. And then when I checked his card to see if they even took his money, they took his money. They overcharged him $6. And on his bank statement, it showed that they never did the transaction the right way. >> So we came over here and I was going to open the door just to come in here and say, you know what, we would like the money back because you guys did him wrong.
