I'm not going to. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. No. Seriously. You lying to me. >> Okay. Well, what can I do to get out of this then? >> You want names? I can give names of some very big drug dope dealers around here that I know. [music] If >> you want to spend the night in jail, you tell me. >> Okay. Well, I have to clean my hair, too. >> Okay, that's better. >> You bringing up items on the camera and >> I bring up everything. No, those are mine cuz my bag is in the car. Those are mine. Cameras in shopping centers were never decorations. Yet, some shoplifterss assumed they were. Every movement, every attitude quietly exposed their guilt, and the law eventually handed them the lesson they deserved. These are the moments when shoplifterss did not realize every step was being watched. Every situation comes with a lesson to learn. Like and subscribe to support us and catch the next videos. Starting with this woman, lying had become a habit she showed no remorse for. >> You got your purse. You got more bags in your purse. He gives you his bag to put in your purse. You guys, are we going to start telling the truth now? Have I been nice to you? >> Right now, right? Do some reviews. >> On April 22nd, 20125, officers stopped a vehicle after seeing suspects believed to be involved in shoplifting enter a shopping mall. As they approached, the situation quickly turned tense. >> What's up, bro? >> How many people own this car? Are you the only person that owns this car? >> It's my mom's car. >> Oh, okay. You got your license insurance with you, man? >> You got your license? >> You got a picture of it or something? You said you weren't sure. >> No, my whole file was police report. >> You got debit card or something with your name on it? >> My whole wallet. >> You got anything? >> My whole Is it your car? >> No, it's his car. >> Why are we on this stop right now, bro? Be 100% honest with me. I'll be 100% honest with you. >> I have no idea. >> No idea. >> No. >> Okay. Were you guys not all putting merchandise in the back seat and hiding it as we were stopping you? Did that happen or am I missing stuff? I got two work uh in my mom's car. >> Where you coming from, bro? >> I just dropped them off at the mall. >> You dropped them off at the mall? That >> was it? Okay. What were they doing on the mall? >> I have no idea. I was just parked in the parking lot. >> Okay. >> Come on. >> Come and help by me. >> To prevent any attempt to flee, officers ordered the woman out of the vehicle. And that was the moment they openly confronted her with their suspicions. >> You said he has no come on over here. Oh, you got a warrant or something? >> No, I accident. >> Here's the deal. Um, we saw you guys going with all the bags. >> Uh-huh. >> Okay. Did you steal some merchandise in there? >> No. What? You supposed to go with all the bags? I only have my bag and you didn't have a bag. >> Yeah. And then we're pulling you over and you're you're moving the stuff from your bag. >> No, I was looking for my cigarette. >> Okay. >> I I only got a shirt. >> So, when you went in the mall, did you buy anything? No, actually I was going to it's a it's a secret for um uh what do they call it when you do um >> when you put stuff on um when you like get married or something and they got the >> the registry? >> Yes. I was going to see if they had a certain thing that my girlfriend >> Okay. So you guys didn't buy anything? >> No. >> Okay. So there's no merchandise in the car? >> Oh, sorry. >> Okay. So there's no reason that there'd be merchandise in the car. >> I mean besides >> you you you can be honest with me. >> We work in Orland Park. We deal with retail crime all the time. >> You You go to Chicago, you get armed robberies, everything. You come to Orland Park. >> This is our job. >> Yeah, which we totally you guys. >> So So we see you guys. Listen, hear me out. Hear me out. I'm I'm going to be completely honest with you. I want you to be completely honest with me. Okay, we're going to start over. >> Notice how officers pressed her after each response, suspecting she was deflecting. Lighting a cigarette midstop showed she did not take the situation seriously. >> Watch. You guys got out of the car. He's got a bag. The dude in the jersey. You got your purse. You got more bags in your purse. He gives you his bag to put in your purse. You got You guys come out in the mall. >> I swear to you, his bag stayed in the car. >> I did. He did not give me no bag. I do have my bag, which my coat was in at first. >> Um, >> but this is a little bit more deeper than that. Be totally honest. >> Okay. What do you mean? >> Like this isn't just cuz we walked in the store for a with a bag. You know what I mean? >> No. That's that that brings our attention to people. when you go into a shopping store where they give you bags when you buy stuff when you go in with your own bags. >> That's one thing that we look for. >> Okay. >> Right. >> So, we stopped you for expired plates and then when we're pulling you over, we see clothes getting taken from a bag and put in the back seat and then we're saying, "Oh, there's merchandise that was stolen." >> That's my coat. I swear to you, listen, >> honest to God, I was looking for my cigarettes and I was moving my coat. All right. I did not sell anything. I went to the uh Lulu lemon place. Okay. Because Okay. So, I have a cousin that works. Right. >> Yeah. >> And I don't want to get on fire. So anyway, >> you're fine. Give you a little discount or something. >> Yeah. But I don't pay her at this. I pay her. >> Okay. >> You know, and then I was to go in. >> So is that what you did today? >> No, I didn't get a chance to do that. But she was supposed to uh take part of the little things for me and then her manager is there. >> So she say, but no, I totally didn't. I don't I don't do that. >> The woman denied everything, but she lied almost instinctively as if it were a habit. And moments later, her own answers began to unravel with subtle contradictions. >> So, how old are you? >> Huh? >> How old are you? >> I'm 36. >> 36. >> Okay. No, you're not. >> Huh? >> You're not 36. >> Oh, you gave me the wrong birthday. >> No, no, no. I Listen, I'm almost 50 years old. Don't you don't ask the lady. >> Okay. So, how old are you right now? >> Yeah. Go ahead. >> I'm almost 50. >> All right. How old? >> You don't judge me. How old do I look? >> Just tell me how old you are. I'm almost 48 years old. December, I'll be 48. >> How much stolen shit's on the car? >> Okay, listen. Javon, hear me out. Take take a seat. Take a seat. I'll be standing when I'm talking to somebody, but I won't do nothing. >> Okay, officer. >> I have a connection at the Lululemon, the one in Chicago, and she got me the stuff, but she didn't have her her her to her her what are those things? Um, hold on. Take a seat. Give me one sec. >> See, that's that's only one guy. >> There we go. I'm sorry. I watched you go out to the mall, right? You had a bunch of empty bags. You put it in a big bag. >> That's why I'm telling you guys. >> I don't think that's going to be the same. >> Are you Are you stealing to survive? >> Let me ask you that. Are you stealing to survive? To put food on your kids table. Is that why you're stealing? >> Okay. >> I'm a person. Yes. Okay, I understand. >> Guys, listen. Honestly, >> tough times. >> Actually, I got that from somebody who did steal. Okay. >> It is stolen. >> It is stolen. It's good. They left the news on there and they had somebody. >> By this point, none of her words carried any credibility. Officers had given her the chance to come clean, but her own choices ended up speaking as her confession. >> Put your hands back. >> Are we going to start telling the truth now? Have I been nice to you? >> Right now, I'm going to jail. >> I'm going to jail on that. So, we're going to >> Could you tell me what Lululemon store that came from so we can give it back to them? >> What location? >> That was the one in the city. >> In the city. And I was really coming here >> to return it. Yeah. Got to return and went to get the things. Okay. >> What's What's the driver's What's the driver's involvement? >> What What's the driver's involvement? >> Nothing. He just drove. He didn't even know what I was doing. I swear he did. >> He didn't know nothing what the [ __ ] was going on. >> You didn't agree to pay him money? >> Hell, he didn't know what was going on. I promise. He wouldn't have took in. >> Okay. I already talked to him. What is his involvement? He didn't go in the store. He stayed on the phone. >> He didn't know. Then I was telling He wouldn't have took that. He's a working boy. He's a straight up. >> So why you bringing him in? >> Because I didn't think that this would happen. I didn't think >> and then when you guys parked on the side and then >> shortly after officers returned to the store to hand back the recovered merchandise and gather further information about the suspects involved. >> So yeah, she did definitely and they sped out. It was a man and a woman. >> Yeah. What was the man wearing? >> Um I know he had a hat on and he had >> Patriots jersey and he had a cigar in his mouth. >> Yep. Okay. Um yeah, she had a dress. >> He kept bringing her stuff to the frame like size zero, size two, and not >> she was not trying on a size zero, size two. Um >> you know, >> so we could get you your guys merchandise back and we could Could you do a duplicate receipt for us? >> She came She came in here last week and she was like saying that she's like a recovering addict and she's trying hard not to steal and that she wanted to like and stuff. So we didn't we brought that all up. We called our report line and everything. Um, >> did you make a report with Orland yet or No, >> no, I I don't know what they do on the back end. All I do is I submit the reports of stuff I find and they do >> all that stuff on the back end. I don't really hear much about it, but I know she was in the for a while, >> but yeah, this is going to be a decent. >> In the end, she was charged with retail theft. When you lie to cover a mistake, every new excuse only tightens the trap around you. Accountability at the first moment is always lighter than the weight of consequences that follow. Next, this woman dressed like a robber and went into shoplift. >> I did not steal this accus. >> If you want to spend the night in jail, you tell me. >> Okay. Well, I had somebody come in here and steal it. >> Okay, that's better. >> On May 10th, 2022, officers received a call from Walmart about a return of merchandise suspected to be stolen from elsewhere. Upon arrival, everything seemed even more suspicious. Even her outfit. Celeste. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Medina, >> come here. >> Celeste. >> Yeah. Celeste Agera. >> Can I do this return? Come with me. >> Huh? >> Come with me. I got to do this return. >> What are you returning? >> She's not allowed to return them. I already told her. She never has. Hey, look. You also trespass in the store, too. >> You cannot. You have to have the passport receipt because you go out there and you scan them into there and then you come in here and try to return. >> I just return it. It says, "Show this item that says >> because you uploaded your receipt that you stole out of the parking lot." >> Wait, I just bought this stuff. >> See? >> Oh my god. >> Where's the receipt? >> That's the receipt. She said I can't um That's all what I bought. Mhm. >> I'm trying to return it. She's all You stole this stuff. Yeah, I'll be in the store. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> It was clear she was embarrassed with each accusation the employee made. At that moment, the officers decided to detain her. >> Y steal. >> Yeah. >> I didn't steal though. >> You know, you trespassed. You can't be here. Where's all this property you had? >> Over there. Let's go check it out. that right now. >> I didn't steal a bit. >> I You can look on the cameras. I didn't steal none of it. Just walked in. >> Thank [clears throat] you. >> Check the cameras cuz I didn't steal none of this. >> Can you check footage and see when she came in? >> Yeah. >> Cuz I did not steal this. If I didn't if I if I didn't steal, you going to let me go or can you just write me a citation? >> Well, we'll discuss that. >> Yeah, cuz I didn't steal this. >> You with him? >> No. No. >> Yeah, it's fine. I'm not going to run him. >> No. No, I'm not with him. I just going to get them at the store. >> These are what, like 30 bucks a piece? >> $15.94 for these ones. >> But the other ones like 15. >> Those are 15 bucks >> each one. Something like that. or 12. Yeah. >> No, I'm not. No, it's expensive. >> And that's not really expensive nowadays. That's not >> Do you want one or two copies? >> I need one copy. You have I need two copies. >> You need one. You need one and I need one. >> No. No. >> I saw her grab. >> Immediately after, she was escorted away, but she did not admit guilt or show any remorse. The only thing she cared about was her own reputation. up to Walmart. >> What do you mean? >> That's up to Walmart. >> So embarrassing. You ever arrested people? >> Yeah, I've been there with I've been arrested in Walmart. >> Hey, I'm not everybody though. >> I didn't say you were everybody. I just said I've been arrested. >> Can I like this? >> Uh, yeah. We've all have a past. >> So, I'm going to jail. >> I don't know. >> That's the second time I walked back in. >> Second time? Yeah, I walked back in with the stuff with my stuff. I paid for it. Yes, today. Well, yesterday I paid for it, but >> Excuse me. >> There's me stuff in my gun. I didn't steal it from here. Well, I mean, I paid for it from here, but I didn't steal it. I didn't go in and I didn't go in and steal it and then come No, I didn't do all that. >> When did you buy it? >> I bought it yesterday. >> Yeah. The other receipt. >> Where did you buy it? We can narrow it down. Needs to be lost. Where? >> The officers confronted her with the surveillance footage of her actions, and she offered more excuses, but each one only made the problem more obvious. >> No, >> actually, I bought him do. I'm not going to lie to you. I bought him do. >> I don't believe you. You know why I don't believe you? Cuz you told me here and then you're like, "Okay, I bought." It's okay. Guess what we can do? We can look up video on red do. >> Yeah, I know. But I see the thing is I bought it and turn it cuz I didn't have I didn't grab the right size and brand came in in a rush. >> So we can also run the merchandise and see if it has been purchased or not. Can you do that? >> Yeah. >> Do you need This is the receipt. >> Honesty is the best policy. I'm telling you right now. It's the last I'm going to tell you. You know this, >> right? If you want to spend the night in jail, you tell me. Okay. Well, I had somebody come in here and steal it. >> Okay, that's better. You understand that? >> Yes. >> When? >> Cuz if you had somebody come in here and steal it, I want to know who did it. >> I didn't come in here. I didn't have them go come in here. So, they choose to come in here and steal it. >> Okay. Well, let's win >> about 10 minutes ago. 9:50. >> Okay. Male or female? >> Female. >> Okay. Well, she look like you. Was she wearing a gray sweatshirt, pretty lipstick? No, she looks a little scrubbed. >> Cursing though. >> The parking lot should help me. >> I do not know cuz she already had the items with her. She just told me, "Hey, can you can you return this?" >> Who is this? My [ __ ] name. >> Just tell me cuz it's just us. Let's go. >> Mona. Uh, you know Mona, bigger chick. >> No, I don't know Mona. >> She's a fatter chick. She uh Smiley's mom. Who's >> smileys? >> She just got I can't think. I I don't know her last name. It's Mona. I know her first name. >> It seemed the truth was slowly coming to light. This might have been a coordinated professional theft scheme. And at that moment, she began telling the story behind it. >> Yeah. >> Are you parked like on the other side of that building? >> I I walked I walked up >> through the ditch. Yeah. >> So where is she parked? She parked the laundry mat. >> Okay. >> Cuz she was doing laundry earlier and then her car again ran out of gas or some [ __ ] She gave me a story. [snorts] >> She was way before this because >> I don't know. I don't know. Like Okay. So, she she came up to me. She asked me if I could return items. I don't know when she got the items. I don't know when she got them, but she asked me if I could return them. You will too. She asked me if I could return. I don't know when she got that item. I see her. Don't waste your time. You know what I mean? >> What was she wearing? >> Um I don't know. She's a bigger chick. I don't know what she was wearing. Like I told you, she just came with me as a return. >> I can't believe you got to take two charges with this girl. >> I don't know her last name. It's Mona. Her [ __ ] name. And all I know she's a bigger chick. She just went to court. You know, you know Smiley's mom. [ __ ] Smiley. Smiley though. >> Oh >> yes. Mona. >> Smiley the ball chick. >> Yes. Her mom. >> Isn't Is she in prison yet? >> Yeah, she's already in prison. It's her mom. >> I don't know her mom. >> Oh god. Mo something. I don't know her [ __ ] last name. [snorts] Oh my god. Can I use somebody else's random last name? I don't know the last name. I'm going to jail for cuz I don't know the bitch's last name. I don't know her last name. I guess I don't take charges. I don't know her last name. >> Mona's in prison. No, she's not. She No, she's not. She's >> I put her in prison. She had eight [ __ ] ounces of meth. She's in prison. >> She's out [clears throat] and about right now. >> So, it became clear that whether she directly took part in the theft or not, she had still conspired with others, leaving her with little chance of escaping the charges. >> Going to jail. >> Yeah. >> Really? >> Yeah. Because you conspired. >> So, sit down real quick. >> Really? You said >> Yeah, I did. But you know what? You conspired with Mona? >> I didn't know that she I didn't know. I didn't know she she stole that. That's a part. Oh, I know. >> What's a hipster? Those are the the words, right? >> Yeah. We're going to jail. Really? >> Yeah. And you're trespassing. West cargo. Those are the men's jeans. >> Can you just write me a vacation? >> No. Woolly brush. What is that? >> I don't know. >> Come on. >> I didn't know. >> Thank you. >> What? I didn't know >> this thing. What is What do you got on you right now? >> I don't know. >> Stay right there. >> Really driving around. >> What's really is that you still do this 25 years old. >> Okay. And I stopped doing >> Stop the vehicle feet department. What do >> you have anything on your brer? Yes or no? >> A no. One. Please. >> You got something in your left side. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> It's $2. $3. >> Okay. >> Come on. Please. >> I'll stop. >> You won't need. >> I I I haven't been to Walmart, though. And >> we're going to continue to pay to play this game back and forth. >> Well, I haven't been to I haven't done this in a long time. >> Stay there. >> Really? Over here, man, Celeste, over here. Give me everything you got so I can throw it away. >> In the end, she was charged with trespassing and shoplifting from Walmart. Helping with a crime, even just a favor, still makes you responsible. Protecting pride instead of telling the truth, only makes the consequences worse. Next up, this mother picked up her child in the back of a patrol car. We should do that so that she knew she was on camera and she wanted to show that she [music] was doing it. >> Possibly for that. I mean, she never admitted. >> I read you something. Basically, your rights. >> I'm not I have to pick up my daughter. I have to go back. So, we're just going to >> On November 12th, 2024, police received a report of theft at a Nordstrom store where the suspect was believed to be an employee who processed fraudulent refunds onto gift cards while having the merchandise shipped to her home under a different name. At that point, the store manager laid everything out. her well this whole investigation started during we saw request fund um through a gift card that was used with her employee discount and without her employee discount which flags in her system as suspicious. >> How long ago was that? >> That was September 29th. >> So that was the first sentence. >> Later that day during our video review we see that she selected five cuz I want her here all five years of shooting. >> Yeah. >> Upstairs. Brought him downstairs. Goes up to the register screen. And you can see the register screen is blank from there. >> She starts scanning the items. You have to go in click your [music] stuff in. If you're going to sell something, >> she does not. She just scans it in, takes the sensor off, puts a little sticker on it, puts it in the box, boxes out several pairs of jeans, roughly 12, 12. >> Okay. >> She ships it off. It goes to her address. >> Okay. >> So, she got three. >> And we watched her Saturday the exact same thing. This is what she did three times. She did two >> two days two times where she stepped in and one with a fro. We interviewed her. She's trying to say her mental state was not in the right place. That's why this happened. >> Um she's a good person. This is um she she said she made poor choices. She got fired by the store manager just now. Bought her down. We told her prosecutor. >> Based on his statement, the suspect evaded the questions when confronted about the incident. And shortly after, the loss prevention employee provided even more detailed accounts of what had happened. >> Reveal. Yeah, of course. Um, so we started working with a new um, exception uh, based reporting system. So when looking into that report on Friday, November 1st, we discovered a um, transaction where a receipt was not utilized. Looked into it um, and then we pulled footage and we can see that Sally Kutcher is processing a return on September 29th. Um, and there is no customer, there's no merchandise present. When looking into it further, it's for a Coco Chanel fragrance. Um um Sally later on that same day on September 29th um she packaged five pairs of [music] denims and two long sleeve shirts. We have her walking into the building that day on September 29th, which was a Sunday, coming in from her shift at 12:00, walking in um and immediately starting selection of the five denims on the shop floor. Um she then makes her way down with the product um maybe a few minutes later. So, she comes in 12:04 is already downstairs in her handbag department by 12:11 p.m. Um, and for 5 hours later, so approximately 4:30, 5:00 that day is when she um mimics a transaction on the register. So, when we are doing the investigation on her, we also come across this merchandise theft that she is um that she is doing. So, she on the register screen, she does not sign on. It's very clear that she does not sign on cuz the screen doesn't change. >> What do you mean by mimicking? Oh. Um, so pretend this is a scanner. So, and this is my register screen. So, I have the product and I scan, but I never sign on to the register, so it's not processing a transaction. So, I scan the item, I remove the sensor, I box it. Um, and then we have little stickers that we put on the item. So, she has that scan the item, remove a sensor, box it. So, she goes through the whole processes, but she nothing is ever registered on the register. >> Why would she do that? So, she knew she was on camera and she wanted to show that she was doing it >> possibly for that. I mean, she never admitted to saying like, "I know I'm on camera." Anything like that. Um, it's to get free merchandise essentially. In the end, >> it was clear that the employee showed no genuine remorse or guilt for her actions. And that became even more evident in the way she carried herself when facing the police. >> All right. So, before I speak to you, right, I'm going to read you something. Basically, your rights. >> I'm not I have to pick up my daughter. I have to go back. I'm just going to try to do it fast. That's all I ask. >> Okay. So, >> I'm going to listen to everything I just said. Just go. >> So, I'm going to be honest. All right. What time is it now? by 1:30. >> Yeah, >> we're not going to get done before 2 o'clock. >> She's 10 years old. I have nobody else here. >> Okay. But obviously, we're here to reason, right? Go. You know what I'm saying? >> I'm required to warn you before making statements. You had the phone. So, obviously, you work for you used to work for Nordstrom, right? How long do you work here for? >> 3 years. >> Okay. Um, they brought to my attention that there's been some transactions, right? >> Yep. We got to we fixed it. >> Okay. >> Discussed it. went [clears throat] through the whole rhythm roll. >> So tell me what happened. >> Stuff got shipped to my house that wasn't paid for. Jeans and perfume. >> Okay. And what was the reason for that? >> It wasn't intentional. It just happened. I work here. I was doing a bunch of stuff. I I thought it was I was waiting for one of my colleagues to ring me up. I didn't. So I ended up sending it and it never got paid for. >> Okay. She showed no anxiety, spoke bluntly and clearly, and it seemed more like a display of pride than a mistake. Yet, she never admitted to her actions. >> Okay, but hear me out. You've been working for 3 years, right? >> I know what you're going to say. I get it 100%. Yes, my head is not in the best of places. >> That normally doesn't happen, right? When you ship it to your own address, >> 100%. >> Okay. >> Been a been a rough go at it. So, yes, I get it. You're 100% right. I accept it. >> So, basically, you >> didn't do it in purpose, but it was it it happened. So that's not the only time it happened too, right? It happened a few other times where you did some other transactions, right? So you expected me to believe that all these other transactions you were >> you can believe whatever. >> Okay. Um what did you tell the your employer about it? What did you tell them? >> It there's it's just at this point it I'm going to pay it back and there's no point and I'm not getting a job. I'm moving on and that's like it is what it is. It wasn't it wasn't done on purpose. It wasn't thought out ahead of time. It wasn't maliciously planned. It wasn't something that I schemed to do. So back in September, what's the reason why that you I guess had that transaction and it basically got flagged, right? Got flagged in the system as some sort of suspicious theft. So what was that about like when you were going through that transaction? Go, you know, walk me through the mindset. >> You know what it you you do the transaction then you could send something after the fact. Usually I buy I pay for our stuff and then when it's an employee you send it. >> I'm sorry I couldn't hear you. Can you go back? You buy stuff as an employee one way then you get to hold it and then you you put it in and you can send it after. >> So when you purchase stuff as an employee, right? Do you normally have a manager? >> You can you can send it out. You don't >> normally you don't need a manager to to approve it. >> No. >> Okay. And how did you pay for those items then? >> I usually pay them with my notion card. >> Okay. And what happened with the whole transaction? >> I usually pay for it in the beginning of the day and then send it out the end of the day. I just didn't pay for it the beginning of the day, send it out the end of the day and it didn't pay. So, you didn't you didn't pay with your own uh credit card or anything like that. You just sent it out. >> The police questioned her about the shipping procedure to confirm she understood it. And with 3 years of experience, it was difficult to believe it was a mistake. So, the officers raised that doubt. >> But when you work for 3 years, you kind of know what the rules are. >> It seems that way things are always changing. Yes, it should be that. >> Okay. And at some point, did you return those items back to the store? >> No, but I'm going to pay them. Did you return anything or >> No, I didn't even I didn't even realize they weren't paid for. >> Did she try to make a return or something with the gift cards? >> Um, so there was a um a refund done that didn't have a receipt or customer um was refunded on card. It was later used with her discount. >> Okay. Could you explain that? >> That was a I have a neighbor who's a customer here. She's one of the bigger customers here. She came in twice to return a full bottle of Cocoa Chanel. She didn't have the proof of purchase. I said, "I can't take it back without the proof of purchase." That's our policy. >> So, she found a proof of purchase. The best I can do is a one comment time accommodation on a gift card. She said she would take that. She said, "Do you want the gift card?" I said, "I'll take the gift card. I'm there all the time." And she gave me the cash. I kept the gift card and I gave her the goods. That's it. It wasn't a really a big deal. >> Do you have any of that stuff also on video footage? >> Yeah, I have. >> And [clears throat] the Chanel is here. It was a full bottle >> on video. Do you see I guess another subject there with her making a return? >> The last time I finally did that. It was the first two times she came in to return. >> So on September 29th, you're making this return, right? >> Yeah. She lives she lives in my community. So I said, "I'll just go get I'll bring you back the gift card." >> Okay. And then you use your employee discount, right? In reference. >> Yes. On a different purchase, not on that. Right. That was her purchase paid for her fault. >> Do you think she was somewhat rude during the conversation? If so, leave a comment explaining why you think that way. At this point, the police continued reminding her not to interrupt while they were speaking. >> So, what was that about? Like, you took that gift card that's supposed to be for your neighbors, right? >> I give That's >> And then you're making the same >> You go to Prada, right? >> I'm asking you a question. One second. You keep in front of me. So, you take that same gift card. >> Mhm. >> You make another purchase with the same gift card that's supposed to be for your neighbor. How does that happen? >> She gave me the money for the gift card. >> She gave you the money for the gift card. >> Okay. Hey, normally when an employee purchases items, do you normally ship it out to yourself or if you make the purchase at the store, you could take it home that day? >> Um, so we have a process that an employee cannot ring up themselves. They have to be rung up by another employee. And any >> Well, she just told me that she could, I guess. >> Okay. So, that's obviously against policy. She obviously knows that she's been working for 3 years. >> Mhm. Um and then any item that is purchased by the employee has to go upstairs to our package check area so that we can check it out before it gets um out of the building essentially. >> Okay. And based on her employment here, she has prior purchases, right? And those prior purchases are done the right way where she goes upstairs and gets that done. Okay. So, if you could negate that where she thinks this is a mistake. Um >> in this transaction, she says she's shipping it out. Is that normal what you guys do? Um so we do COG sends customer own goods send so that piece is but there's no valid transaction here. So she's mimicking a transaction. The um the register was not signed into. She is scanning. She is doing all of that process removing sensors but no transaction registers. >> Okay. So basically that transaction does not exist. >> She's making the movements. >> Okay. And then when she ships it out is there a shipping label? All that stuff attached? Um there is this that prints out for us, but it's not a transaction. It's just a um confirmation of where the items are getting sent to. >> Okay. But when normally when a customer >> when an employee purchase things, they don't really ship to their house, right? Unless it's like a gift for somebody else. >> Her plan gradually unraveled while she sat there smiling as if it were nothing serious. Soon after, the police made their final decision regarding the woman. >> So right now, you're under arrest, right? You're not free to leave, right? You're going to be doing some paperwork with me at the police department. After you're done with here, you're going to go to county jail and get released from there. Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. So, I'm going to gather as much information as possible so I can make this process smooth because obviously you want to get home to your to your daughter, right? When you get home to your family. So, I'm going to do my best to make sure that this goes smoothly, right? You have questions in the meantime. >> Okay. >> Can you follow me to drink? I cannot do any of that stuff. Okay. >> Right. So again, this this officer here is going to patch it down, make sure you have no weapons or anything on you. All right. All the jewelry, all that stuff needs to be taken off, put in your bag. That will all go with you up to county jail. Right? As of right now, again, you're under arrest, right, for um the theft, also organizing the fraud. Okay? >> So, just do me a favor. Stand up, get patted on by this officer, >> and we'll we'll work with you. We'll >> maybe do a simple down to our bracelets. >> Anything else? >> Finally, she was charged with felony grand theft and felony organized scheme to defraud. They often forget that experience does not place them above accountability. No matter how carefully a scheme is staged, patterns [music] surface, evidence speaks, and consequences follow. Worse still, this nurse cared more about her reputation than her wrongdoing. Sir, I promise you I DIDN'T SWITCH NO BARCODES. >> We have it on. >> Sir, I didn't switch no barcodes. No, no, no. I'm going to I'm going to sue you all. I'm going to sue you all because this is not fair. This is not right. Nope. >> Okay. >> And then to have the police to come and handcuff me at the register around everybody. >> Okay. >> Oh, heck no. Uh-uh. >> All right. On August 9th, 2023, officers were dispatched to Target after receiving a report that a woman with a prior history of theft had shown up at the store. It appeared she was committing the same act again and employees presented surveillance footage of the incident. >> Hey guys, >> what's up? >> Got a lady. She ticket switches stuff. She she ticket switches like um she ticket switches using stock barcodes usually a little bit um >> what is it based on >> like 2400 >> we have a name for her I'm not sure if it's 100% accurate but we have her as thema grant >> thema grant >> yes >> that's a old name >> yeah she's old lady I don't feel bad for her though she's she knows what she's doing like she's been doing this for a while like just to give you some insight. $2,400 in fact. >> How many? Oh, 32 instances. >> Yeah. So, she's been doing this for a while. >> See, usually what she does is she grabs like little sock barcodes that are like a dollar, >> a little bit less. She'll put that on whatever else she's buying. >> And then she'll actually go through the checkout line. >> Mhm. >> But she'll scan the socks. >> Yeah. She scans the socks like 50 times. >> Yeah. So, wash his skin and can you pull up like what all is being Okay. >> Yeah, we can. >> She's been doing this for so long that we have all these different incidents on her. >> Yeah. >> She's been here a while already. >> Um, she's been in here for I came up on lunch. She's been in here for like 30 minutes. I'm expecting her to head to the front seat. >> Is she a nurse? >> I have no idea. I know the last time she came in though she was wearing scrubs. So, that's kind of how I picked up on her today. I was like, "Okay, gross." >> Perhaps she wanted to assert that she was a nurse, so she wore that outfit many times when carrying out the act. At this point, her fraudulent payment behavior was seen more clearly. >> We're good. >> So, see that? Look at that's a big black bowl that she scanned. That's a small white little cup that she scanned. So, we're good. >> Let's just wait till she pass. >> Can you guys tell the difference? So you see that's a big black bowl and this is like a small white cup. >> And then you should see her do it here again. >> And the little paper bowls. Yeah. So she's still doing the cup. So we're good. We just need her to leave now. Perfect. This is >> I wonder what she did with the cup. >> She dumped them. She left them like she >> left them where she dumped the other stuff. >> Hey, I'm sorry to bother. Um so I have the right here at the POS. She used ticket switch. She switched barcodes. She scanned everything in. But her card might decline. It looks like she's struggling to render payment. If that's the case, the police are saying they have enough to like charge her with shoplifting because she switched the barcodes. But what should we do to proceed? >> We can. >> Yeah. Target, right? As long as the police want to. Um, I'm I'm willing to prosecute on that. >> Okay. Okay. All right. Thank you. >> At that moment, all of her actions had become completely clear and the police approached her entirely by surprise. Go >> ahead. I I'll take your leave. >> Excuse me. >> Hey, ma'am. Drop your phone for me. >> Uhhuh. >> Drop your phone for me. >> Yes. >> You're under arrest right now. Okay. Place your hands. Place your hands behind your back. We'll tell you as soon as you're uncuffed. >> What I did? >> We'll tell you as soon as you're cuffed. >> What did I do? >> What's Are you just Let me get some handcuffs on you and then um we'll bring you back and we'll explain everything. >> Yeah. Sorry. What did I do? >> Well, I'll let you know. Just let me get these cuffs on you real quick. >> Don't want to mess up your watch. >> Mhm. >> What in the world did I do? >> We'll explain. Just give us a second. >> Would you like me to grab your cell phone for you? >> Yes. What did I do, man? >> We'll explain it in the office. Okay. >> You going to move it over there? >> Did you want me to disconnect the call? >> Yes. What did I do? >> I'll take your purse, miss. >> I'll take you. >> So, >> the loss prevention officer is going to explain everything to you. >> Yes. >> Um, we're just going to sit down, have a conversation, and >> he'll explain everything, >> right? Cuz I didn't do I mean, for y'all to come up and just handcuff me like that in front of everyone and I didn't do anything. >> Explain everything better. >> Her immediate confusion and denial likely stemmed from a habit formed after many prior thefts. At the police station, her attitude became noticeably more tense. >> Yeah, I don't want to sit down. >> Yeah, I don't want to sit down, sir, because this this hurt me my arm. >> So, switching switching the barcodes switching the barcodes of an item is a crime. >> I didn't switch no barcode. >> I have you on camera, ma'am. And we have >> What did you do, sir? You didn't see me switching nothing. I didn't switch no barcode anywhere. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Sir, show me, please. >> I haven't I have it right here. They They've seen it. They >> sir. No. Uh-uh. You You need to show me. Show me what did I do. >> You don't need to show. >> Okay. >> Show me what did I do. >> You switched the barcodes of the items that you rang over. Sir, >> sir, I promise you I didn't switch no barcode. >> I We have it on, >> sir. I didn't switch no barcode. >> What's your name? >> I I didn't switch no barcode. >> Okay. >> Only thing I came here to do, I first I came here, I was going to um change my pajamas, >> but I didn't have I couldn't get into the chime. >> I time and hours like a debit card. I came your pajamas. >> Yes, I I had I bought me some pajamas the other day. >> Yeah. But then when I got to the register um she told me it was fine for me to go ahead and put that in there. I don't have anything else. >> I was just looking for You got ID in here, man? >> No, my my um ID and everything is in the car. >> What's your name? >> And and then for you to go you you're not supposed to just search my um items. >> Well, you're arrested right now, ma'am. So The woman's words suddenly became hesitant when she was questioned about her information. Instead of proving her innocence, she shifted the focus and tried to make things difficult for the officers. >> Shoplifting. >> Please sit down. >> Sir, show me proof that I shoplifted anything. >> We just told you, >> sir. I didn't. No, I did not. No, I did not. >> Okay. Have a seat for me. >> That Oh, no. Uh-uh. Um, only thing I did, I went and I bought what I had. I I was trying to get my money off the chair the whole time. >> What's your name? >> I'm not giving that information unless y'all tell me some stuff. >> We did. >> No, no, y'all did not. The first thing y'all did was handcuff me. >> Told you you're under arrest for shopping. >> How you under arrest? First of all, sir, look here. First of all, I didn't leave out the store with anything. And I didn't change no I didn't change no prices on anything. The only thing I did was spend what I had. When you were scanning things, they were it was coming up as a white plastic cup. >> Listen, I scanned what I had. You're not going to sit up here and tell me that I shoplifted anything. >> Okay? >> I scan the stuff that I had. >> Well, that's something that if you wish to fight it in court, you can fight it in court. >> Oh, I'm definitely going to fight this in court. Okay? >> I'm definitely going to fight this in court now. >> What's your last name or something? >> Not until y'all give me some information because this is not fair. Even more ironically, she was the only one trying to evade the truth. Yet, she insisted on demanding justice for herself, even claiming she would sue others. Did you think she would actually take this to court later? >> Prosecute. I didn't take anything, sir. >> Sir, I SWITCHED THE BARCODE. >> FIRST OF ALL, I didn't switch any barcodes on anything, AND I'M GOING to sue Target. Oh, heck no. Uh-uh. No. No. No. I'm going to I'm going to sue you all. I'm going to sue you all because this is not fair. This is not right. Nope. >> Okay. >> And then to have the police to come and handcuff me at the register around everybody. >> Okay. >> Oh, heck no. Uh-uh. >> All right. >> Didn't even DIDN'T EVEN BRING ME BACK HERE. Didn't even bring me back here. YOU'RE GOING TO COME UP THERE and handcuff me in front of everybody. >> Okay, man. >> Oh, I'm definitely going to get me a lawyer. >> I'm not talking to you because I didn't because you didn't do anything to me. >> Okay. >> You didn't You stood back. >> There's a reason why we're here. Listen, it doesn't matter, brother. He's the reason. I'm talking about what you all did. Can he just bam me out the store? >> Well, doing that, too. >> I know that, but Kenny, let me go. >> That's up to them, but I don't think they are, >> sir. That's That's all. >> And of course, she valued her reputation more than the wrongdoing she had committed. And at that moment, she even used her nurse uniform as an excuse to ask to be released. >> Please, sir. Please, cuz this is going to be on me and I'm going to lose my job. I work at the hospital and date surgery. Please, I Please, sir. >> He's got to keep his job, too. >> I I understand that. But this judge, it's their call. Please, sir. I won't step back in here. No way around it. Please, sir. I'll lose my job if this is on it. Please. It took me so long to get this job. >> Please, sir. I'm just begging you. Please. Just one. Just please. >> I just can Can I just pay for the stuff and you please, sir? I can't. Unfortunately, we have 33 previous incidents of you doing this >> from what I been learning here. >> I do, >> sir. No, you [laughter] Sir, I've never been Oh my god. >> You've never been to this store before? Is that what you're saying? >> I always shop in here. I LIVE RIGHT DOWN THE STREET. >> OKAY, >> SIR. You have never caught me in no shoplifting or anything like that in here. >> I >> Oh my god. I can't believe this. I No. No, you did not. Uh-uh. >> Sir, what how much is the items? Oh my. I didn't sir. I didn't even leave out the door. >> Yes, ma'am. >> I didn't leave the I didn't leave out the door. >> In this case, the woman was charged with theft. Someone repeatedly chooses deception over accountability. The consequences will eventually outweigh any excuse. No matter how carefully a false image is built, the truth only needs one clear moment to bring it down. Next, a teenager tried their luck by scamming the biggest scammers in the world. >> Obviously, [snorts] that doesn't really match that. Unless you sign it again here with no second. [laughter] >> On August 26th, 2025, officers were dispatched to a car dealership after receiving a report that an 18-year-old girl walked in to purchase an expensive Range Rover, raising serious suspicion. Let this employee clearly state their suspicions. >> Just a quick rundown. So, she gave us a credit app. She had trouble filling out her information. sign on the back. Her name is Emily. Signed it with a second E in the name of her name. >> Came in saying she wanted >> like at the beginning. >> Yeah. No, it's Emily and then instead of just L Y E L Y and that's not how her name is on the license. She just has like a temp license. Um she said she wanted a $450 payment. Wasn't sure if she'd get approved. Showed her a $1,200 payment. She signed right away. We looked up the address. Didn't line up. She says she's in Cincinnati, >> works at Cleveland Clinic. Nothing. She got dropped off. She said random. I mean, didn't call in about the car. And it's a Range Rover. So, >> you guys have a license? >> I have the temp license in there. You want to go buy her or do you want to go around? >> I just want to see the license. Maybe I can run it and see. It's where the and the temp license says she got it at a uh the Elllet at like up here. This doesn't pulled her credit. We asked her if she had any previous car loans. We could see that she did. She said no. >> Huh. There's a picture on her look like no it's been like copy. At that moment inside the dealership office, the manager also presented several important documents for comparison. >> Obviously, that doesn't really match that. >> And then she signed it again here with the second. >> Then we asked her just simple questions about her credit report like previous auto loan. She didn't she didn't know she had one in. This is a $54,000 loan she had before. And she's from there. She says she works at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland. It's a 216. And then look where she got this at. Right over in Elllet. >> Where's Mason? >> That's Cincinnati. >> Yeah, down Cincinnati. >> Where's she saying she's living now? >> She says she's lived here 3 years and 3 months. >> But you see here, she almost screwed up that. >> Was she looking at her license when she's filling this out? >> So my sales guy, my sales guy said that he has making a copy of this. So he had his with her and she was struggling to fill this part out without the info. >> Shortly after, officers approached the young woman and from the look on her face, it seemed she was beginning to understand what was about to happen to her. >> Can you guess why I'm here today? >> Um, >> can you guess? We have no idea. Okay. Um, >> this is my IP. >> Yeah, folks. They're telling me, and you can tell me this is >> true or not. >> Where do you live right now? >> Um, and look at this. Where do you live? >> I live on ice. >> Cleveland? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Do you have a real ID on you? >> No, not right now. >> No, it's not yours. >> Um, not at the moment. I don't have my ID, but I do have >> What's your name? >> Lala. >> Okay, LA. Stand up. Put your hands behind your back. >> So, you on that piece of paper that you made up? >> You know how it says? I didn't. >> The woman was handcuffed and showed no remorse. Even as she was escorted outside, she tried to shift the blame onto someone else. >> Why you out here without fake license? >> It wasn't even my idea, bro. Somebody did some. >> So, whose idea was it? What were they trying to do? >> I guess they were trying to put a card, get a car down and just keep it or whatever. But I told them I don't think that's a good idea because >> 14. This is me taking a big ass. >> On top of that, this is my ID. You know what I'm saying? It's my stuff. On top of that, I'm still young. So when I had came in here, they had said >> So you were you were told what >> to be an 18-year-old. >> They they told me to come. They had drove me all the way down here. Gave me that. Yes. gave me that and told me just go in there and say that you want to car down for 100 I mean for $0. >> Okay. Well, how did you think that that was a good idea? Are you going to work? >> Exactly. Well, I I have a job, but I have I I raised my grandma. Like I literally take care of her. This is irritating. >> Mhm. >> So, you knew that you're coming in here with a fake ID to try to buy a car? Not buy it. >> Not buy it. Then what? >> I wasn't going to buy it. >> It was zero down. I was going to try to see if I was going to get approved for it. So, >> it was truly laughable that she tried to buy a luxury car just to test a card of unknown origin. But even more absurd was her answer when asked what she would do if the card had actually worked. >> Okay. And you're going to try to get approved for it. And if you got approved, then what? >> Um, nothing. >> You going to walk out the door? I was just going to try to get the car. >> No, I couldn't. I I can't drive the car. I ain't driving it. But I was going to see if I could get approved and I was going to come back, you know, next day or something. Well, whatever they wanted to do, but I I was just trying to see if I could get approved for a car. >> Okay. You're 18 years old. >> Yes. >> Have you tried this before? >> Nope. >> Nope. It's my first ever time experience ever doing something like this. >> You been arrested before? >> Nope. >> Even as a kid? I mean, that's a sponge or seal, I should say. No, >> this is very nerve-wracking for me. So, you know, I had stolen too. >> No, I just got these the other day from my auntie. I just kept the tag on there just to show people. Something that I don't know why we do that, but that's what we do. We'll keep the tags on our stuff just to show people how much it cost. >> No, we don't do that an acronym. Must be a Cleveland thing or something with your group peoples. Did you read this thing at all or >> No, I read that. >> You should have read this part. >> Yeah, I should I should have read that. You You right. >> Tells you it's illegal to have this right on it. >> She showed absolutely no shame for her wrongdoing. At that point, officers questioned her about the origin of the fake license. Watch closely and decide for yourself whether there was any deception. Then let us know in the comments >> who made it. >> Um, his name is Instagram. >> You know his real name at all? >> Um, no. >> No. You know what? >> I don't know what he look like. >> Nope. I know his number. >> What's his number? >> It's in my phone. >> All right. >> But I can show you the >> Why did you guys decide to come down on a Friday? >> Um, this is where they took me. I had no clue there was like I never had any clue that we was going this far. So when I looked at my location I'm like why is we going all the way to a >> Yeah. >> This is far as hell. >> Yeah. >> Just past Bedford. I'm like nah bro >> you guys had the whole Bedford auto mile >> right there. Car dealerships. >> I'm just irritated some boy. Yeah. You do have anything you're not supposed to have. >> They have a scanner at the jail. >> That's fine. I don't got nothing. >> They'll see it. They can see stuff that's inside you. >> It's like an X-ray machine. >> Yeah. I don't got >> So, tell us now cuz it's another It's another felony charge. >> It's much I don't got nothing. >> I just came out here with my phone and myself. >> Okay. Inside the patrol car, the 18-year-old, who had only just reached adulthood, seemed unable to bear the weight of her actions, and tears of regret began to fall. [clears throat] [laughter] [laughter] [crying] >> [laughter] [snorts] [cough] >> Excuse me. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Is there any way I could show you the text messages or like his number or anything? >> Yeah. >> I ain't going to finish. >> Yeah. Um, [snorts] what are like what are you trying to say? >> Like I ain't trying to get put down for this. Like I got a life. I got >> But you did. But I'm not the one who made the the thing. >> You got to be careful with what you do. You're 18 now. [snorts] You got some real consequences. >> Do you know how long I'm going to be in there? >> No, I do not know. >> Could you call my mom for me? >> You'll be able to do that in here tonight. >> Could you Could I just show you the guy's face or anything? I don't need to see that at the moment. >> Finally, the woman was charged with forgery and false identification. No matter who suggested the plan, the consequences still fell on the person who carried it out. Think carefully before risking your future for a shortcut that was never worth it. Next, this woman had nothing but guilt to her name. >> You're under arrest. >> I'm going home. >> You're under arrest. >> I'm going home. >> That'll be decided later. >> I'm going home. >> What'd you go with? >> Can I smoke a cigarette? >> Nope. It's not healthy if you're pregnant. >> On January 20th, 2024, officers received a report from Walmart about a woman shoplifting. She had been taken to the loss prevention office. And upon arrival, she made clear her uncooperative attitude. >> I thought you didn't call. >> Okay. Well, you also threatened me, so I wasn't >> I didn't threaten anybody. I'm not going. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Seriously, you lied to me. You don't >> let go of your phone. >> No. I wait for my husband to call me. Let go of the phone. You're under arrest. You're under arrest. >> I'm going home. >> You're under arrest. >> I'm going home. >> That'll be decided later. >> I'm going home. >> I want a female officer. Never mind. >> You probably don't have one. >> We got body cams, though, so everything's recorded. You sharp on? >> Don't Don't. There's nothing in there. >> Well, we got there's a knife in my pocket. Can you No. Yeah, in my back pocket. I think I think there's in his pocket. >> Maybe not. Maybe. >> Nothing in these pockets. >> All right. I knew I had a knife on in case. >> You have probation or anything? >> No. >> Any bonds? >> No. >> Okay. Where you live? >> Spooner. >> Okay. You got a necklace on? >> No. >> All right. You got anything concealed to your bra or panties? >> No. >> You sure? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Oh, sorry. That's my bad. I have a ripped rotator cuff. >> Okay. [clears throat] The woman showed she did not care about the seriousness of the trouble she caused. In addition, officers discovered many other incriminating items found in her bag. >> Well, it looks like there's some there. >> Where? >> Or a pipe. Meth pipe. >> Not mine. I'm I'm I'm clean. Three years clean now. I've been clean since 2020. >> Really? >> Mhm. >> No problem. >> Did you guys rec? >> Nope. I got that at Temo. I have the receipt for it. Thank you. >> All right. Yeah, I am four years clean. I promise you that. >> So, what we're going to do is we're going to talk to them. You got arrested right away because you're being ordinary. Okay. So, that's disorderly. >> I got lied to. >> Well, I I don't know what it is, but >> No, I can't go to jail tonight. >> Okay. Well, [music] we're going to figure everything out and then we're going to make a decision. Okay. >> Okay. >> You still live in Spooner, you said? >> Yep. whatever tattoo has needles in there and my buddy my buddy's a tattoo artist. So >> her is that all baggies or is that crystal >> baggies? Since when did I have that's the last time I borrow someone else's bag? I said I could fire that person and I didn't go through it yet. She made excuses one after another for herself, which only increased suspicion. Perhaps this was experience gained after each offense that LP employees had looked up. >> No. >> Um, so I recognize Samantha probably have four events in her. >> I don't remember any of these events [snorts] that I have a picture of you getting locked out by police. >> Okay. I don't remember that. >> Just let's take a break for a sec. Okay. Anyway, take a break. >> We recommended Samantha for previous events. We see her selecting many, many items throughout the store. We just watch her grab a tote. We watch her put all of those items into a tote. Then we watch her walk straight on this one. >> Okay. >> When I stopped her at the doors, she started fleeing. I said, "I have to call police if you flee." She said, "I'll come if you don't call police." And I said, "We'll talk about it coming." She said, "If you call police, I'm going to punch you in the face about now here we are." >> Okay. There's a rock in there, is there? Yep. And she had his purse with her. >> Yeah. >> Was her wallet in there? >> There was a wallet. I don't know. Ide cards though. >> Okay. In the wallet in the purse. >> Okay. >> You ever had a warrant for your arrest before, Sam? >> No. Do I have a warrant? >> No, I was asking you if you ever have a >> I know I have cord for speeding my speeding ticket and >> you got a valid license. >> Yeah. >> Oh, I guess my ID is in there. >> I don't know. I have my left in the car. >> The discovery of her identification in the wallet exposed her earlier lie about the bag belonging to someone else.
