hello I have Tony filler and I'm one of the assistant Chiefs with the Mesa police department I have oversight over the patrol operations Bureau which encompasses is inclusive of the four patrol divisions in roughly 550 members of this organization today I'd like to talk to you about a couple of things involving the crime picture here presently in Mesa a little about the political climate across the country and some of the successes of our members and the community engagement opportunities right now in the city serious crimes in the city year-to-date overall or down six percent with property being down five percent and violent crime being down ten percent we have implemented of some protocols some proactive activities which we think have made a huge difference in in the results for our city that has not been experienced in other cities nationwide recently the major city chiefs organization of which we are a member convened a summit in washington DC regarding violence and upticks in some parts of the country we have not had that issue here i think its reflection of the trust we have with the community as well as the the forums and the opportunities embraced by our personnel in the field and behind the scenes to make this one of the safest cities in the country i appreciate the feedback we've gotten from the community specifically three times this past week on accessible performers from our members quite frankly people are a little little quicker to file criticism with the department then then a compliment so I'm appreciative of those efforts if there's any questions about what we can do for you or contacts with the membership of your division and where you live please contact the police department
