Just stop. Just stop. Just stop. Leave. You're being detained. You want to get locked up. I'm trying. >> No. I have no reason to steal this. We just broke my nail, bro. >> We steal. Let me see the the um >> counting everything in our cart and still going to say we stealing. >> Called y'all though. I called y'all. >> I called y'all for my safety cuz they thought we were stealing. >> I will calm down. I just want to talk to somebody. I just want to let my grandma know she has my baby. On the 9th of September 2025, officers approached a woman at Walmart after receiving a report that she had skipced most of the items in her cart filled to the brim with merchandise. At that moment, she became visibly tense as she desperately tried to make excuses for herself. That's what he's doing. >> Ma'am, >> I just want him to stand. You guys are thinking >> Shuttle down. Don't make a scene. >> I'm not making a scene. >> All right. I need you to calm down. I need you to relax. Okay. >> All right. Let him do his job. >> I'm doing I'm letting him make >> Well, you're hindering him when you're you're talking to him and you're screaming at him. You're hindering him. >> I'm not trying to scream. >> All right. So, just relax. Let him do his job. >> None of this would have happened. I wouldn't have done what you had first. Okay. You were literally stopped the first time to turn around and start knowing. >> I stopped. They stopped you over there because the machine wasn't working. I was >> They stopped. They stopped you. >> They shouldn't stop. I help. I asked for help. So, she could finish the transction for me. She said I couldn't stop. She switched me to what you were doing. >> Everything. >> Okay. The formula, the food, all that's on there. >> All of these are in bags. Sorry. Chicken >> everybody can check. I literally >> check each one. >> The woman tried to obstruct the loss prevention officer by interrupting constantly about everything and even providing her information became a struggle. >> Do you have ID on you? >> The beat boxes. >> Let me see your ID. >> What do you mean my ID? >> Don't make this a problem. You don't have >> You're being detained right now. >> Okay. So, give me your ID. >> You got to show them anything that >> Did they find anything that was scanned yet? >> They did. Everything in here. All of this is scanned. That's not scanned. I don't know why, but this is scanned. >> You can either be put in handcuffs. I don't want to be put in handcuffs. Identify yourself. I can identify yourself. You want my ID? I can give it to you. >> So, these stuff were over here with these, but they were not. I literally went through the scanner. I went through the lady. >> I went through the lady, dog. I don't understand this. I went through the scan machine by yourself. They sent me They told me it was not working. So, I went through She sent me to another one. I came over here. She said I got to go to another one. I came over here and then he told me to go. >> All right, Liam, let me ask you a question. Were those clothes in your cart? >> Yes, those cart. I I supposedly I just gave it to him. >> All right. You didn't pay for it. That's why you're being detained. >> That's why you so be quiet. She even went on to prove that she had other payment receipts, but it seemingly exposed a loophole for the officers to seize on. >> Trying to help me. >> You're not trying to help me. You're not trying to help me. You're really not trying to help. If I told I on the receipt, >> what's on the receipt? >> I will show you my first time. I'm not like, bro, >> those toys are on the receipt. >> I'm not talking about >> What are you talking about? >> The ones I paid with my cash app, which I paid with her. >> We're talking about that ice cream. I'm talking about ice cream, >> which was paper. >> Hold on. We're talking about >> I'm going to show you. I don't I don't really want to fight. I really I'm just going to show you. I'm just going to show you. >> Oh, my old personal. >> All right. At this point, go ahead and take her to the office cuz so far that all none of it's paid for. >> Can you not take my bag? Can I call somebody, please? >> I'm going to hold it for you. Sorry. Can I please call somebody? Can I please call somebody? Can I please call somebody? >> The woman failed to manipulate the thoughts of those around her. And at that point, her tactics shifted, gradually spiraling into chaos. >> Yes, I can. I don't have >> This is not how that works. >> I understand how it works, but can I get ahead of it, please? Damn. No, you can't. >> Really? Really? >> I literally went through the thing. Y'all can check the camera. Cut it out. Y'all can check cameras. I'm not playing, bro. I didn't >> Bro, I didn't. >> No, I have no reason to steal this. You just broke my bro. That's on you. I push you. >> You're getting to the car. Wait. No. No. We're going to take it to the car. >> Not yours. Relax. >> Calm down. >> Oh my god. >> There's kids here. >> My ID. I just need my ID. Y'ALL GIVE ME >> You're going to go to jail for resisting if you don't stop. >> I don't want to resist. I just want y'all to get >> You're going to go to jail for resisting if you don't stop. >> I don't gosh, bro. I just want y'all to give me my >> BRO. MY GOSH, BRO. MY BABY $3, BRO. >> STOP. STOP. >> ALL RIGHT. >> SHUT UP. >> STOP. Don't tell me. chill the out. Can y'all CAN I PLEASE COME BABY? THAT'S WHAT I WANT TO DO. I don't care if y'all take me to jail. Can I please just put a baby? >> Spread your leg. >> At this point, the woman still did not stop making things difficult. But her obstruction grew even more disappointing when she dragged her family member into it. >> You're going to rip your I need to call my baby. I need to call my baby. Please, I need to call my baby. Please, I need TO CALL MY BABY. I NEED TO CALL MY BABY. >> OKAY, YOU CAN DO THAT LATER. >> NO, NOT LATER. I DON'T HAVE HER PHONE NUMBER. I DON'T know her phone. Just please don't get the phone number. That's all I want. You guys CAN TAKE THE JUDGE. YOU WANT TO KNOW THE PHONE NUMBER? >> I just want the phone number. >> For no reason. I'm not even touching you. >> Crazy. >> I just want to me. Please, just can somebody talk to me like a phone person? I don't want to ask her. >> Please, can you talk to me? I will calm down. Please, >> I will calm down. I just want to talk to somebody. I just want to let my grandma know she has my baby, guys. >> I'll call your grandma. Relax. >> You don't have her number. >> Do you have it? >> Yes, it's on the phone. That's all I want to do. I just want to call her. >> What's your What's your code? >> 102405. Can you open the door so I can let you know which contact it is? I don't want to argue. I don't want to let my baby know. >> My god, my >> radio fell. >> Get ready for my >> I need all my stuff. >> Hold on. Hey, you want to go get it for me? >> Yeah, >> I think it fell. >> Yeah, I'm going to get your radio. >> I just want to talk to somebody. Please just talk to me. >> Relax. Hold on. Let me get >> Can you fix my shirt? My boob is all out. Please. >> I'll have her fix it for you. Hold on. >> Please just pick my shoes. >> You want me? I'm trying to call your grandma. Relax. >> Okay. Go to contact. >> My phone doesn't work. It's the blue one. It's the blue one. I have two phones. It's another one. >> The blue one's in your bag. >> It did not stop there as officers searched her bag and quickly uncovered even more troubling details. >> Who wants her phone? But it's in the cart, actually. >> Oh, yeah. It is in the cart. >> All right. I'm going to get your phone to see if this belongs to Walmart. >> That's she Those are all in her bag. >> Yeah. This these were in her bag. >> Yeah, those are Walmart. Are those Walmart? >> I don't know. >> Find out. >> Not even Walmart. >> You're going to find out somewhere else. >> Go find out Walmart. THAT'S NOT EVEN WALMART. That's been in my bag. >> Can you fix my shirt? My boob is all out. >> And can you get my other phone? >> Move your foot. >> Can you get my other phone? >> Move your foot. >> I don't care. Can you get my other phone? >> Your foot is going to GET MESSED UP. >> I DON'T, BRO. CAN YOU tell me? >> Okay. >> You going You're getting You're >> All right. Hey, it's time for >> She just kicked me. So, she's getting that Leo. >> Yep. >> I'm going to >> I was I >> bro, I just want to talk to my You're lucky I didn't punch you just now. >> I just want >> All right, let's see. Bad Leo. >> I just want to talk to her as of now. >> That's all I want to do. >> So, I mean, you could either do resist with violence or bad Leo, but I say do bad Leo. I'm going to do the bat Leo cuz she just kicked me but and I'll do the resisting as well or just not >> they're both I mean I'm trying to understand I'm trying to let y'all know where the phone is at so you can get to the phone. >> The one Nyear old woman was charged with retail theft resisting an officer without violence and battery on a law enforcement officer. When someone chooses lies, manipulation, and aggression over honesty, a simple mistake can quickly escalate into serious criminal charges. One impulsive decision can change everything. Next, this mother turned out to be just as terrible. >> I honestly I'm not perfect. I've done stupid stuff before, but I don't want to put my kids through that. >> And you know that you were previously banned from Walmart as well, right? >> The East Pory one. On February 2nd, 2026, officers approached a woman at her residence after suspecting her involvement in a shoplifting incident at Walmart before leaving the scene. This was what happened next. So, um I'm here to talk to you about some incidents that you had at Walmart a few weeks ago. >> What? >> So, they have you on camera paying for higher priced items at a lower price. There was like different tickets on them, like different price tags. >> So, there's there's stuff like cameras, um, camera film, stuff like that. So, there was at least three separate times that this occurred. >> Honestly, I don't know what you're talking about. >> You have no idea? >> No. >> Okay. >> Different tickets. What are you talking about? >> So, the price tags it was on like there was also kids clothes. There's all sorts of different items. >> I'm so confused. There's usually like four to five items per transaction. It is always on non- grocery stuff. Grocery stuff you pay full price. >> I mean, I feel like I paid full price for everything. I spent a ton of money at the moment. >> Okay. Well, the video and the receipt shows otherwise. Just trying to save a buck. I mean, I get it. Times are hard right now. >> No, honestly, I don't even know what you're talking about. Well, like one of the things specifically, there was like a $75 camera that had a and it's one of those like little kids cameras uh that had is it motion? >> The woman denied everything, but moments later she had a story involving the stolen items that the officer had just mentioned. >> Yeah, people make mistakes. I just got to >> honestly I really honestly do not know what you're talking about. I paid full price for all my items. Like I >> Okay. >> My friend gave my daughter a camera for her birthday, but I didn't buy it. >> Okay. It's you. >> Okay. But I I honestly don't know what you're talking about. >> Okay. I mean, is that is that the story that we're going to go with? I'll tell you. Do you want me to tell you the specific days? >> I mean, it doesn't matter. >> January 9th, January 13th, January 15th. Those are the only incidents that they have found so far. I mean, I honestly I am, >> like I said, just dumbbounded is >> like I said, there's there's two sides to every story. So, I want to come over here and give you the benefit of the doubt, >> right? Thank you. >> And try to get your side. Okay. So, that's where a little bit of honesty comes in. Right. >> Mhm. >> Um, but other than that, like I honestly I'm not perfect. I've done stupid stuff before, but I don't want to put my kids through that. And I honestly don't >> feel like I've done anything of what you're talking about. >> Okay. >> I don't switch tickets or whatever. I don't. >> She claimed she did not want to set a bad example for her children. Yet, she spoke about shoplifting behaviors as if she understood them well. In reality, she was already quite a familiar figure with Walmart. >> And you know that you were previously banned from Walmart as well, right? >> The East Fury one. >> You were banned from all >> all Walmarts. >> Mhm. They just told me East Pure because I was trying to pay for my items. I left them with my cart >> and me and my kids went out to charge my phone cuz I was trying to scan and go, >> right? >> And it just my phone died. So then I left them with my cart. They said I went past the threshold, which not like past the doors, >> but I was looking for help. And hey, buddy. >> It's okay. >> Mom's okay. >> I was just looking for >> We're just talking to her. I was just looking for help. And then um they they obviously weren't like crazy about that. And then the cops came. They're like, "We don't even feel comfortable with giving her a trespass >> because they looked at the cameras and I honestly didn't try to take anything. I'm just trying to pay for it and charge my phone." So that was the deal with that. >> Sure. >> Like I never >> Well, they must have felt comfortable enough cuz you were arrested for that one, right? In East Poria. >> No. Yeah. >> No, I I was No, I was arrested. That was Washington for one, but it was Washington. >> Okay. >> At that moment, the officer returned to the issue that had brought him there, but her response tried to appeal for sympathy rather than actually explain everything. >> All right. Well, so you don't have anything else to say about it? >> I mean, honestly, I I really I don't I just I honestly don't know where this is all coming from, and I don't I feel like I have paid full price for all of my items. Like I honestly don't >> sure >> get how this is even about. Like I don't try to like swap out anything or whatever you're saying. Like I don't know. That seems very tedious and very something that someone with two screaming kids probably wouldn't do. But >> um >> I wish someone would have corrected it then and I wouldn't be in this position. >> Sure. >> Like I I'm really not about that and I just I don't know. Like I said, I've made mistakes in the past, but >> sure, >> I feel like I've kind of grown from that and learned, >> right? >> You know, I don't really have a bad record. I do have that on my record, but I just, like I said, I made a stupid decision and >> definitely don't try to make it again. >> Okay. >> Um, I have to set an example for the kids, too. But right, >> you know, I I mean, I wish I had more to tell you and I wish, you know, that this could get, you know, whatever. But I just I honestly I I can't sit here and say that I >> without letting the situation drag on any longer, the officer bluntly informed her about what she was going to face. >> So, you have you're going to get charged for retail theft and for criminal trespass. Okay. They both have the same court date, so you don't have to make multiple court multiple trips. So, like I said, retail theft and criminal trespass. Just don't go to Walmart again, okay? >> Um, and it's any of the Walmarts. You can always call and ask permission to come back. Uh, I get it. There's not a ton of places to shop around here, but I don't have to go to Walmart. >> What was that? >> I don't have to go to Walmart, but >> sure. How this is fair. >> What do you mean? I just I don't honestly I wish I would have just stopped it right then. Like I have no idea. >> I Well, I don't think that they're aware of it at the time is a thing. >> They don't get alerts or anything like that. If somebody's checking out check out something like something that's >> Oh, I feel like I thought it was like all weighed and stuff like that. That's why you put it on there or whatever. >> No, a lot of times. Yeah. A lot of times, especially if it looks like it's a legitimate item, because it's a legitimate barcode, but when they review, they get alerted to it through whatever ways they have different reporting, but when they see there's, you know, >> this is supposed to be a Starburst, but it's a $70 camera. >> In the end, she was only charged with retail theft, was not arrested, and simply had to wait for her court date. Trying to deny the truth may delay the consequences, but repeated dishonesty will eventually expose itself and make the situation even worse. On the 10th of March 2025, police received a report about a woman shoplifting at Target. And when they arrived at the scene, it was truly strange to see her acting as if she had just been rescued from something. Keep watching to find out what happened next. >> Who is going to [ __ ] with you? >> Who is going to >> Is this like a fence thing? They send you in here to >> Yes. All right. Well, let's go back. >> Okay. I'll go back. >> Uh, let's let's hold off on that. You supposed to just wait on you. >> No, I'll just wait here a couple times. >> All right. Thank God this is over. Thank God. >> Thank God. What's over? >> This is over. I don't have to do it anymore. >> They send you like a list or something? >> Yes. And who's that? >> It's the >> You can tell us like you think they're right there. >> It's uh I don't know if they're still here. I see the police, but it's a gray Honda with Ranger. >> Gray Honda. Is it a older Honda? >> Huh? >> It's like a 2008. >> Sorry. Just I'm just so I just shout out like please just I just need to hit my like ever since this started like two and a half months ago. Like I met him. He was like, "Hey, I'll give you a bone if you go and give me some stuff." I was like, "Okay, [ __ ] I'm a girl, so I'm not going to try to pay." So, thank you. So, I mean, I know it's not an excuse, but >> it's like a fence thing. >> Sir, >> it's like a fencing. >> Yeah. Yeah. And then they sit and wait for you to [ __ ] Yeah. >> All right. But are they like looking out? Are they part of it or are they just telling you to go steal and you get to >> part of it? Like they look out and they'll wait by the door and call me and be like, "Hey, it's >> Did they call you?" >> Uh, no. I guess they're probably gone cuz they see the people. I don't know. >> Okay. Where was that parked at when you came here? >> And they're not there no more? >> Uh, I don't know. I guess >> All right. You can throw that out. Let's go back in. The suspect admitted that she had agreed to steal, but claimed it was because her boyfriend had encouraged her. While inside the loss prevention room, she continued to act as if she were an innocent victim with no guilt at all. Talking to do it and steal stuff. He's like telling me I have to get this stuff from him or it's going to be consequences. Like he also like me out, I guess. >> Who's he to you? He's like, "Okay, it's a guy I met on Facebook and like after we linked up or whatever, he gave me his number, but after like two or three weeks when we first started shopping, he blocked me on Facebook, but he he still contacted me through his number or whatever." So, we still he told me that he >> gave you dope. >> Yes. He told me he deactivated his page and stuff or whatever that. So, that's why he >> So, he's supposed to be sitting outside waiting for you. >> Yes. >> Okay. I'll see if I can private car. >> Okay. Do you know where he's at? Like towards the right row. It was the third row. >> Third row. >> Okay. >> She said he's probably gone, but just drive her. >> Okay. Yeah. Yeah. I was >> uh What's your name? >> Mariah Smith. >> All right. M A R I A U R I A. >> M A >> U R I A. >> Okay. M A U R I A Smith. >> Is she getting a total all that stuff? >> Yes. >> She clearly committed criminal acts, but her face showed no shame at all, even as each stolen item was pulled out by the police. >> You smoke? Um, put on this. >> I don't know. What's in What is this? >> Uh, my bag. >> Is it theirs? >> Yeah, >> this is. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, that's ours. Wait, is it bags? >> I guess so. >> Target thing. >> Yeah, that's ours. >> And like, can you give me that right now? >> Can I give you this >> this >> in a minute? my watch >> in a minute. What you need your watch for? >> Cuz I want to put it on. So like like it wouldn't go in my property. >> Oh, you can just wait a minute. >> It ain't going to go nowhere. >> I know, but it's still in my property though. >> Okay. I just I'm sorry. H Which one of this baby and rip them? >> I don't know. Is it Is this Target, too? >> Yeah, it is. It's Target brand. It's just that they look ripped. >> It's probably going to ask you, >> but I I had already like had those. >> You had already had the tag off of them cuz it's stuff that I haven't worn yet. >> I got you. Like I said, this is the first thing you see in the store. When I come to the store, I get some stuff for me a lot more. >> Yeah, I would imagine. Honestly, y'all I come to Target a lot. >> The woman claimed she had bought some items to downplay the situation, but that was not true. The total value still reached $780, supported by the store's video evidence. >> She stayed there for like 10 minutes. Oh, >> you looking at her through the thing? >> Yeah. So, I like confirmed for a fact that she was concealing before I called you guys. >> Which bag was she putting in there? The black bag. >> She had all types of bags. She had the like Target reusable bags. She had the grocery bags that she selected. >> She grabbed the backpack. Um but yeah, she was just sitting there concealing for a while. >> Can you put this in my cell, please? >> What time was that around there? >> This was 11:39. She was here from 11:29 to about 11:40, >> but I'll definitely gather the rest of it um by the end of the day, >> right? And then just uh hit her when she goes out the door. >> So, she's putting in all them bags that she picked up at the front. >> Yeah. And she grabbed like reusable bags that she selected like throughout the store. >> Or do they call for the reusable reusable bags? >> Yeah, they call those reusable the ones that like we sell. Oh, >> okay. >> The grocery bags. Those are just that's what they call grocery. >> And because the woman had used fentinel, police wanted to make sure she was fully alert before giving a statement. So medical personnel were called to the scene. >> In custody, but >> she is in custody. >> Well, I will take her to jail, but I don't think they're going to take her like that. Well, I mean, her pupils are normal. Oxygen's good. Right now, her weight's just a little we >> get her blood pressure. >> You smoke, but everything's normal. Cuz >> I snorted it. >> You snorted it? >> It snorted. >> She smoked it out of this thing. >> I Okay. How much? >> Just like two and a half. >> Where you trying to go? Don't try to go nowhere. >> You do putting on the regular. >> I mean, if you guys think that we're going to have to take care anyway, though. >> Every now and again. >> You do it every now and then. >> Yeah. >> I just do it when you tell me to relax. >> When? Who tells you to relax? >> Not my friend no more. >> Uh, when >> What do you mean not your friend no more? here. I'm listening. >> Is this a living human being that tells you to do it? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> And he tells you to relax. So, you smoke fentanyl? >> Whenever I go in the stores, you just tell me just to relax. >> He tells you to relax. >> When's the last time you saw this friend? >> Today. >> Today. >> Yeah. >> What's his name? Although she was assessed to be in relatively stable condition, the suspect did not make things easy, using the medical evaluation to her advantage by continuing to portray herself as a patient rather than a perpetrator. It's okay. >> There, you know, there are resources we can go to. >> My mom, she want she want, >> but >> you can. It's that you don't want to, but if you want help, there are resources we can give you and get you. You're good. >> See, all her belongings. We've already searched it all. who's in it. But um two little bags, >> huh? >> Good job. >> Yeah. Yeah, they are. We already search them. >> Don't Don't put it on, but pull your arms back a little bit away from your seat belt right here. In the end, she was charged with felony shoplifting, criminal conspiracy, and trespassing. When someone keeps blaming others and hiding behind excuses, it only deepens the consequences. Accountability cannot be avoided, and the longer you run from it, the harder the fall. Next, this woman even believes she could manipulate the officers psychologically. >> Well, we're investigating a retail theft and a criminal trespass to property. >> Hold, let me call my mama. >> Hold on. What's your mom going to do? >> Why are you talking so smart? Cuz I need to see what's really GOING ON. LIKE, WHY is >> On March 11th, 2025, officers received a call from Target about a woman wearing a reflective jacket who had committed shoplifting and was attempting to leave the store. When they arrived at the scene, the suspect approached the officers and immediately began playing the victim. >> Hi. >> Hey, how you doing? They just walked up on me saying that they clothes is mean Target stuff and this is mask that I went in the city room and got. >> Okay. >> And they just grabbed me. You talking about they ain't trying to say like walking up on me all at one time instead of just asking me talking about this all their stuff and I got a receipt for the stuff that I put in the car that's mine. >> Okay, I'm going to stop you there. What's your first name? >> What's yours? >> My name's Mike. >> M Sean. >> Sean? >> Yes. >> We didn't do that to you and it's hard to understand. >> I'm just mad cuz how they just came at me and then I tried to show proof and they still tried to say I took that that's my stuff. >> Absolutely. I'd be upset too, but it's hard to hear you because you're a little upset. >> I get it. No problem. So, so if I got this correctly, >> you went into the fitting room. You came out, bought some clothes, they stopped you in the parking lot, but you have a receipt for the clothes that you put in the car. >> Yes. >> Okay. You want to go? You want to go get it? >> Yeah. Come on. Let's take a walk. Yeah. >> Is there anybody open? >> No. I I only got what you call it. They got what I got. It was never in the bag. >> Okay. So, I'm pretty sure this is this right here and my two sheets that they say that I took. >> Okay. Well, we're going to try and figure out what's going on cuz we got here late for the party. So, >> hello. >> At that moment, the officers proceeded to verify the two items she had mentioned. >> Before we go any further, do you have a driver's license or state ID I can have, please? >> Why is I'm getting it for >> because watch yourself. Um cuz it shows that we've talked to you >> and I got to do a report. >> Okay. >> Okay. But this is what um that I brought right here. These are the only two things I brought. I gave him all their clothes, everything. >> Okay. >> Like I never like I never purchased it. Like I said, I don't want it. >> Okay. >> He said I stole this. >> And this is mask. And if I see it on the camera that I took this off, >> okay, >> why don't you grab your driver's >> like I don't even play like this. Like don't ever play with me. I shop too much. >> Okay. Let's go over and talk to him and see if we can get to the bottom of this. >> Okay, he already just walked up on me. I don't want to talk about nothing. I just want to show they sold me to show a receipt to the police when I get here. And these are three items that they told me that I took for some perfume. I mean, they didn't even say nothing about perfume. They just said these right here. And this jacket was his. >> Okay, let's go on the other side. I need you to talk to him. >> Who was him? >> My partner. >> Oh, okay. >> And then I'm going to go talk to him and see if we can figure this out. >> Purchased these two items. >> Yes. and or my jacket. He's trying to say I sold the jacket >> and that you you sold. So you walked in with the jacket on. >> Yes. >> That's my jacket. >> Okay. Seems to be >> he and then they just they just confirmed it. >> One officer also approached the loss prevention staff and they had plenty of information suggesting that she was quite familiar to them. >> So that she has had prior incidents here before. Uh there were a little smaller and then also Oklahoma 95th. >> Okay. Um, so that's why we knew she was a known offender and we started watching. >> Okay. >> Um, but yeah, we have everything on camera. >> Okay. And where did you recover your items? >> On the uh west side. >> Okay. >> The west side vestibule. >> So you were inside the vestibule. Did you approach her and identify yourself or did she just drop it? >> Yes. No, we approach saying we're target security. Uh, we're going to need that stuff back. I tried to explain to her it's in and out. It's 50 bucks. She would have been in and out. Um, but then she started getting really aggressive towards us. So, I told my team to push back, but then I was on the phone with the operator. She was asking if I could get a plate, so that's why I walked this way, but still safe distance. >> Then she hopped out of the car and started charging towards me. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, what are we doing with her? >> Um, well, I want to sight for sure. Uh, >> complaints for the retail, but you want to do anything with an assault? >> Uh, >> did you feel like you were going to be battered by her? >> I thought she was going to swing for sure. had. >> Okay. >> Returning to the suspect to question the differences between the two stories, she suddenly added new details to her version of events. >> Now you got a slightly different story. >> Well, he mentioned perfume. >> I don't have no perfume. >> Okay. >> But he said you did have perfume. >> I don't have no perfume. I made that. >> Y'all, I'm tell I don't have nothing and I'm ready to go. He just told me I have to show y'all a receipt and I did my job. >> Well, that's a different story than he told us. What he told us is, you walked out with three bottles of perfume. >> I don't have no perfume with me. >> You're not letting me finish. You walked out of the store into the vestibule with three bottles of perfume. When he approached you, you gave him the perfume and then you came. >> I never gave him anything. >> Okay. Well, he's telling us a different story. He says it's all caught on video. >> Okay. Do what y'all y'all can do what y'all got to do. I don't know what y'all But he asked me to show him my receipt. And then when I gave him my receipt, he told me I stole the the shirts and stuff. And I said, "No, I didn't." He said, "Well," he said, "Well, show the police your receipt." And that's it. And then he just told me also that he don't um what did he tell me >> when I show the receipt that he said I took the jacket? And that was the last thing we had talked about. I said, "What jacket?" And then I went back in there and said, "I say this y'all is all these y'all stuff they said you just paid for." I said, "Okay." So, and then he said, "Don't worry about it." And then that's when he got on the phone with you guys, >> right? Well, then he also told us that you've had a few dealings with Target. Is that true? >> Who Who had a dealing with Target? >> You did? >> No, I did not. Somebody stole Somebody stole from me. >> Okay. Well, he said that you've had a dealing with the Target in Oklahoma. >> Yeah, that's that's the one. >> Hold on. And the Target here and you're not allowed here. >> Who? I never had that. Never in my life. Never. They just stole from me from Target over there. >> Target stole from you? >> No, the the customers just stole some stuff from me. my bags and everything and they just caught all the thieves there just recently this weekend that just happened. >> Okay. >> She then claimed that she had been the victim of another theft in an attempt to distract from the main issue. The officers quickly shifted the conversation back to what she had done to the employee earlier. >> Okay. Well, the problem also is that after he the loss prevention said you came to the car that he got on the phone with us and then you got out of the car and then you charged him. that I charged him >> in an aggressive manner. Did you do that? >> I asked I asked him I said I said so what's this your stuff again? I said what does the police say so I can tell him that this mine? I said I'll walk in your store cuz yes I did say something but I didn't charge like you know running to him like that. I said you talking about step back but you didn't step back with me when I told y'all to step back and ask for a receipt but did y'all step back? All y'all ganged up on me doing this. All y'all doing this to me but y'all didn't do that to me and ask me for a receipt. So when he got the receipt from me he told me show the police the receipt. So now I'm showing the police my receipt and I walked back up in there. I said, "Do y'all sell Reebok in here?" They said, "No, we do not sell Reebok." That's my clue right there. That's it. >> Okay. Well, unfortunately at this point, I'm going to have to detain you. So, do me a favor. Turn around and put your ants behind your back for me. Well, we're investigating a retail theft and a criminal trespass to property. >> Hold. Let me call my mama. >> Hold on. But do me a favor. Turn around. >> No. Wait. Wait a minute. No. Y'all don't do this to me. Let me call my mama. Like cuz I'm not going to be >> What is your mom going to do? >> Hold on guys. >> What is your mom going to do? >> Why is YOU TALKING SO SMART? CUZ I need to see what's really going on. Like why? >> She thought that constantly talking would actually change the truth. And her actions afterward did nothing to make the situation any easier. >> So I'm going to get detained for what now? >> We're investigating a retail theft. >> Oh, what theft did I take? >> Right. >> Okay. >> Hold on. Okay. Sorry. Wait, wait, wait, wait. >> We don't want We don't want We Listen. >> Wait. >> Don't What are we What are you reading? >> I'm not getting that. >> Just tell us what you're doing. You can This is my >> Okay, Mike is going to have your phone. Just give me one second. >> Let me double lock it so they don't tighten up. It's >> not in my >> After the investigation became clear, the woman was charged with criminal trespass and retail theft at the store. When someone tries to bury the truth under excuses and distractions, the facts eventually catch up and the consequences become unavoidable. So, what happened when this thief even used his own family member to steal? >> You're getting them involved in shopping. >> Not really. You have stolen merchandise on your daughter. How is that not really? >> They used her to steal my >> On the 17th of March 2024, the police received a call from Target reporting the presence of a familiar woman who had committed theft. the day before returned with the same behavior and worse appeared with her family member. Can you get your daughter out of a shopping cart, sir? >> You have any weapons on you? >> Does he have ID? >> I have his. >> Yeah, that's her. >> You have anything on you? Now's the time to give it up. >> Yes, I have. >> Okay. What else do you have? >> Do you have anything on you? The woman admitted to concealing the merchandise, but what was even more alarming was that her family members were also involved, forcing the officers to issue a serious warning about it. >> You hide anything on the case? >> No. >> That jacket or that blue one? >> The blue jacket? >> Nope. >> Take the blue jacket off the >> You're getting them involved in shoplifting. >> Not really. And then when this is all over, they can talk to you about this. But unfortunately, and I'm very sorry, and I feel worse for you two that you got to see this. >> Auntie's going to come get you guys, okay? And you guys are going to go have fun with her for the day. >> Just in time, >> just in time, Rich. That's what I figured. Okay, >> we already got all their property off. 720 bucks. So, he's going to drop PC for this. So, if you can you can add that in your thing, but we're not going to charge. I think he's going to drop the PC off of that. >> I mean, it's already open. Shortly after, the officers made their decision regarding the woman's actions. And of course, they tried to minimize the emotional impact on the other family members. >> I can help you with the rest of the stuff. >> Sir, sit down. Mommy, you're going to be okay. All right. >> Okay. Okay. Remember, >> turn your hands together, palms together like >> you're going to see mine. Okay. So nice. >> Does the ant or anything? >> No. Okay. >> Real quick. I just got to get the photo. I want to make sure. No. >> They just photo for the nores for the trespass warning. >> Right. Right here. So I don't When do you think I'll be out? >> Uh, you have to postpone. >> Mhm. >> You got to do the bond. >> Yeah. Thank you, one day. >> What's that? >> You think, you know, one day I'll set bond? >> I got to figure out where he put my car at. >> After some time, the suspect's relative arrived to assume guardianship, but it seemed the situation was still not okay. I just have to get your own recording saying that you're willing to take them. I don't know how long you're going to be have them for because there's two different charges pending. If you're unable to care for them at that point, if you're not willing to take them and care for them, >> I can't have a kid of my own, so I can't I can't. >> You have a kid of your own, so you can't take them? >> No, I can't. I I I can take care of them. >> Okay. I know it's hard, but I mean, luckily they're on spring break this week, so it might be a little bit easier. I don't know about working if you have someone that can walk. >> Yeah, they're going to have to go to the hotel. >> Okay. >> I have to work. >> Okay, because your sister's got two charges, penny, sir. They were in here doing it yesterday and they're doing it today and they got the kids involved in it today. So, she You're the only one that she gives information to give to. So, I mean, you could give them to your mom if your mom if it's better for your mom to take care of them. I mean, are they going to have to stay with my mom? Cuz I have to work. I can't call out work and stuff. They're going to stay with me, but I have to work. >> Okay. Are you going home for the rest of the day or you going to mom's? >> Um, I'm going back to work. I have to pick up stuff from my job. I literally just immediately like >> Okay, I understand completely. Now, do you know mom's address though? >> Can I call my mom? Yeah. My mom probably doesn't know. >> I believe you, honey. I got you. They were charged with child neglect, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and shoplifting. Using your own children or family members to commit a crime only makes the consequences worse. One reckless decision can damage innocent lives and leave a permanent mark on your family's future. And now we return to these irresponsible shoplifting mothers. >> Go ahead and turn around for me. >> No. For what? >> No. >> You're under. I'm not a bad person, but I am a single mother. And yeah, I chose to do the wrong thing. >> On June 18th, 2024, officers received a report from a Walgreens store about a shoplifting incident where the suspects were believed to be two women who pushed carts full of items out of the store without paying. Upon arrival, officers also learned that the situation was far from ordinary as there were additional individuals involved. >> But to bring kids with y'all, and this is every week, this is consistent. >> Okay. Do you have any idea who they are? >> I don't. But they're two black girls come in with a bunch of kids. >> Um >> I have it all. >> She's got it all. She's got the car we did cuz I ran in there and I was like they cuz I seen the second one shot out. She's looking and she just boom ran out the door. So, but this is every week. The same one. >> Yeah. They'll have some video. >> I have to get it now while we catching them going out the park. >> Okay. Awesome. is that >> you'll see them run out this way and then their car is somewhere over here. >> That's their car. That's them pulling in. And that's them. That's the first one. There's a second one. >> Okay. >> And then the kids. >> In addition, the employees also realized that this was not their first time. And they even discovered the schedule that these suspects followed. >> Come back every Tuesday at about 4 4:45 450 because they know that we're doing truck. So, and it every single Tuesday non-stop. It never fails. >> Okay. Yeah. >> I will uh Y'all have any cameras that watch the exit like the where they pour out on the out of the parking lot? >> Do you know if there is one over there? >> No. >> No. >> I didn't know if >> Oh, wait. Right here. >> Mhm. I don't know if there was a light which which way they went. >> Oh, the red box one. I didn't even think about that. >> Thousands of dollars of crap. And it's mainly those two. So, it would be really nice if we could catch. >> Um, with that being said, until um I'm going to I'll go ahead and do a report on it obviously cuz it's a reoccurring thing. >> Um, as soon as y'all see them come in, >> just call. Shortly after, the loss prevention employee also had reason to suspect that they had used the stolen items to illegally sell them on Facebook. >> This is one of them right here. >> Oh, found her. Facebook, baby. Look. And already they did all the Tide bundles. They already selling. Girl, >> that's one of them. Aaria Jackson. >> Aaria Jackson. >> Yep. >> You should be a PI in the world, >> baby. I be I'm looking. I'm hunting them. And that other girl, I'm about to try to find her on here, too, cuz they together so they got to be friends. That's one of them. >> I'm going to get you a statement real quick. If you don't care, >> and then we'll figure out who these people are. >> Yes. Yes. Yes. >> And try and get something done about it. >> Yes, sir. This is cuz it's it's crazy, >> right? >> We're finally getting that hard. No more. No. Yeah. Look, >> you're not getting away. >> Do you know an approximate of how much they took today? >> They had two baskets full >> and the basket with baby diapers. I mean, that alone had to be close to $400 or $500. And then the other one had an entire cart full of drinks, laundry detergent. So, both of them together probably at least a thousand. >> Okay. And it's it's every week >> cuz they just posted it. >> Yeah. So, we're going through cuz they This is They come in every Tuesday. They know our truck that they obviously pay attention to when our stock comes in. >> Yeah. They know y'all are busy and not >> Yep. And enough is enough, y'all. It's and it's really it's even sadder that y'all bringing children. >> Yeah, she has the kids putting stuff in the basket, too. >> That is insane. Like, what are you teaching? So, that that trade is going to continue. >> I got one. >> Thank you, boo. That that's going to continue. You know what I'm saying? >> Okay. >> And based on the women's social media accounts, officers quickly found their addresses and approached them later that same evening. Watch the tense confrontation that unfolded afterward. >> Hello, police department. What's your name? >> So, you didn't let anybody upload? >> No. >> If I did, I would have [ __ ] >> What about What about uh Did you go to Target or anything earlier? >> No. >> All right. This way. >> I'm not going to run. No. Listen. Talk to me right here. You >> I need to know what's going on. No. It's not fair. It's not. >> So, you're you're you're under arrest. The woman tried to deny all the accusations, but moments later, she could barely say another word as officers presented the evidence right in front of her. Also, with that being said, you're going to say that this is not you leaving Walgreens with a shopping cart full of stuff that you didn't pay for me for just a second. See this 2012. >> What's a good phone number for you? The next day, the remaining suspect was also located. And of course, her fate did not turn out any different from the first one. >> Hello. >> Hey. >> What's your name? >> Latilia. >> Latilia. Is this area here? >> Okay. Is she in here? Oh, I'm sorry. Step on your foot. >> Where's she at? >> Stand up. >> What's your name? >> It's the police. >> What's your name? It's the police. Stand up. >> What's our We're all cut. Your >> name is Aria. >> Hi, how are you? >> Let's go. >> At the police station, the woman behind the repeated criminal acts did not seem to feel much remorse. The statements she made afterwards sounded even more unreasonable. Honestly, I'm not a bad person, but I am a single mother and yeah, I chose to do the wrong thing. But it was to honestly get medicine and breakfast and things I needed for my child. This will never ever ever happen again. Ever. I don't know. I'm just really honestly praying for the best. Like I said, I do have a one-year-old and he is on breast milk. So, I've been here for 2 days full of milk, leaking, hurting, >> and not been able to feed him. He doesn't have formula. I don't have anything pumped for him. >> Right. >> So, honestly, um I only have $1,000 to my name. I'm really just trying to go home. That's >> Well, the And the best bet for you is to be completely honest with you. Okay. >> I I'm not lying about anything. >> Let's go through it then. So, Walgreens, what did you take from Walgreens? >> The tie that y'all seen? That's all I took out of there. >> Um is it still going to be there? Yes. It's It's all still there. Nothing's left. Nothing's new. >> Everything that you seen yesterday, was it yesterday or when you arrested me? Everything that you seen, I gave back. >> So, the tie? Well, we didn't take the tie. >> No, I didn't take the tie. It's sitting on the floor. >> What about the sodas? There's some sodas in there, though. >> Oh, I paid food stamps for all those. >> Okay. Are you just a stone cold thief? >> I do it to take care of my child. >> I got you. >> I'm alone. >> You're alone? How many kids you got? >> I don't know. >> Who's that? So, was that the child that was with you? Yes. >> What's his name? What are y'all using it for? Are you selling it? But in the academy, the woman like I already seen her watch it anyway. So I didn't even have anything. She came all the way outside too. >> No, the baby my cousin baby had some shorts in the basket and they went off at the door, but I wasn't right there. So it was more like I really didn't have anything. So >> Okay. you're being charged with theft $5,000 or less but greater than a,000. That is a class D felony. Okay. Using children as tools to commit crimes not only deepens the legal consequences but also sets a dangerous example that can shape their future in the worst possible way. >> Stop. >> 111. She's trying to take off in her car. >> Stop. >> Could have. But you did. >> This is on This is on you. >> If those girls died, it's on you. >> On the 26th of September 2025, police received a report of a shoplifting in progress at a retail store. So, the officers proceeded to take her for a medical evaluation. >> Step off back here. We'll have to get her coat off. >> I'm taking the coat. Okay. >> Yeah. Take it now. >> Yeah. >> Yes. >> We get a little help from you. >> Now, we're going to have to cut it. >> That worm hurts. >> That arm hurts. >> Your scissors are cut. Yeah. >> Yeah. You're like me. I came in from >> You pull it straight. >> I got some. >> Yeah, we can pull it >> here. We got some >> got some. Okay. >> Let me know when I need to move. >> Okay. Going. >> Okay, that'll work. Tanisha, we're going to lay straight back. Okay, >> there we go. >> There we go. >> Tanisha, how old are you? 38 >> 38 >> We just going to the bus now or you talking to transport already? >> We're going to go to the bus and do some things. >> Yeah, we'll be checking stuff out. >> One of the two victims sadly did not survive her injuries after 4 days of treatment. And that tragic outcome ultimately led to Tanisha D. Mayberry faces a first-degree murder charge and two counts of aggravated battery and fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement. She also faced charges in Oklahoma for assault and battery on a police officer, endangering others while eluding, lararseny, and obstruction. If convicted in Kansas, she faced life in prison with parole eligibility after 25 years. What are your thoughts on this case? Share your perspective in the comments below. Next, the officers accidentally awakened the chaos after it had fallen asleep. So you do have a warrant for his early conduct. Okay. >> Out of county. >> On September 9, police were dispatched to a Circle K convenience store after receiving reports that a woman had been using it as her place to sleep. This was what happened next. Hey, you okay? >> Oh, yeah. >> All right. What happened? >> I'm nothing. Sorry. >> You just fell asleep. >> I'm >> you. You okay? >> Yes, sir. >> Hey, you look like you were sleeping pretty good. Okay, ma'am. What's your name? >> Oh, fine. >> Okay. What's your name, though? >> I don't know. >> I'm sorry. I can't hear you. Emily, what? Do you have your ID, ma'am? I just need to identify her. your birthday. Police I lost everything here in Savannah States, Georgia. I need your name number. >> I just need your name and birthday. How about that? resume a ton of stupid ass. >> After checking the woman's information, the police realized that she had a prior criminal record and everything gradually grew tense when they informed her about it. >> All right, Miss Jackson. Yeah. >> So, you do have a warrant for his early conduct. Okay. >> Where County? >> I know that. It's just overly condal to an officer when he took his chest cam and I sat there and it's like this. I know I have a warrant when they let me go when I left Tombs County. After Tombs County laid on me, kept me for a week. Got the matter got here. I done paid for the civil suit checks. I should not be on probation here. >> I got you. Yes, ma'am. But you do you still do have that warrant that is active right now. >> You want to transport me? I'll take you. >> Yes, ma'am. That's what we're going to do. We're going to take you. We're going to go to jail and sit there >> and then I'll be in prison cuz I'm going to county cuz he should have never revoked me. >> Yes, ma'am. >> I ain't got to do anything. If y'all want to fight, we'll fight. >> No, ma'am. We're not going to do that. When I post to help y'all, >> ma'am, >> and y'all going to start. >> M Jackson, we need you to turn. >> We going to I'm going to get to put my stuff in your truck AND WE GOING TO GO. >> You're going to put your hands >> CUZ I CAN CALL MY MAMA. I CAN CALL MY DAD. PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND your beed up. >> All right. >> The woman admitted that she had confronted the police before, but she clearly learned nothing from it and continued to act defiant. >> I ain't got nothing. I CAN TAKE OFF RUNNING. >> OKAY. WELL, we're not going to do that. >> Yeah. WE GOING TO CHASE THE NIGHT IN THE RAIN, BAREFOOT IN THE ROCK. I'M NOT GOING TO MATTER AND SIT IN THE CELL FOR HOURS ON TOP OF HOURS WHEN I'VE BEEN DROPPED FROM THEM CHARGES. >> I GOT YOU. That's something you're going to have to SPEAK WITH. >> THEY TRANSPORTED ME HERE. MAGISTRATE COURT SAID I COULD NOT COME BACK UNTIL I GO TO COURT. SO, TELL ME ABOUT THAT. >> OKAY. YES, MA'AM. I'm not an argument. >> I'm going to call them. I'M GOING TO FIND OUT MYSELF SINCE YOU WON'T ASK. >> OKAY. SO, >> I'm a first responder. I'M A FIREFIGHTER. I HELPED Y'ALL LAST NIGHT. THAT WAS SOME [ __ ] up metaph. >> Okay. >> SO, GUESS WHAT? >> Y'ALL GOING TO CHASE. >> We're not. >> We're not doing this, >> man. I don't care. >> BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> Y'ALL CAN STAY THIS WAY ALL Y'ALL WANT. >> Let go of the back. >> NO, IT'S MY STUFF. >> LET GO OF >> FOR Y'ALL TO GO THROUGH IT AND [ __ ] WITH ME ALL THE TIME. I DON'T WANT Y'ALL TO HAVE NOTHING. >> Quit resisting. >> Stop. >> STOP RESISTING. I ALREADY DONE BUSINESS. I'M NOT GOING THERE. Y my damn. >> Stop resisting. >> Stop resisting. >> You trying to make ME HIT YOUR GODDAMN I GOT PEACEFUL. >> NOW YOU WON'T WORK. On the ground. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. 310. Step it up. She behind step when y'all could just let me get in. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> No. >> Now. >> Hell no. >> This was the outcome she chose for herself. But what followed was far from easy for the officers as she acted even more recklessly. >> STOP. I got I got this. I got this arm. I got this arm. I got the left arm. I got the left arm. We're good. Need >> another pair. No, >> we got No, we got that. All >> right. We got another going to get hooked. You can put her in my transporter. >> All right. Where's she at? Where you at? >> Down here. >> All right. Right here. Good job. >> The woman's rage did not subside as even at the police station, she continued to cause chaos. >> Do we want to get tased? >> Mother, >> huh? >> I don't give a damn about that anyway. >> What? >> YOU don't give a DAMN ABOUT YOUR SKINNY [ __ ] WHY? SHE UP. >> Who's Mexican? >> You mean the one that you fool? I don't give a damn. >> SHE'S STANDING HERE. >> I WHOOP HER ASS WITH NO HANDCUFFS. >> ALL RIGHT. Come on. We're getting Come on. >> Go the other side. Push her. Yeah, I got I got >> stand your big ass up. TWO COPS CAN'T TAKE DOWN ONE. SHE'S NOT MY BEST FRIEND. >> In the end, the woman was charged with simple battery, obstruction, and interference with government property. Defiance without accountability only made the consequences harsher. When someone refused to learn from past mistakes, the situation only spiraled further out of control. >> Y'all sitting HERE DRIVING ME. NO, I'm angry because y'all grabbing me. Y'all could have called the female. >> On August 27th, 2025, police were dispatched to a Target store after receiving a report of a woman exhibiting suspicious behavior while shopping. This was what happened. According to the statement of the loss prevention employee, >> one of my guys are going to be outside. We're going to just kind of catch her walking out. >> Yeah, both of these bags are full. One of those is full of like champion clothing. Well over >> How do we know she's shoplifting? What is she doing? >> Rapid selection handfuls of jewelry at once into the bag. >> Okay. She hasn't attempted to leave yet or >> No, both these bags are full and the bags themselves are ours. 10. She's walking towards the eggs right It's gonna be a black female dreads, blue top, blue jeans, and tan shoes. She's walking around now. >> Stay here. They got it. They got it. >> She ain't going to go. She saw the cop car. >> She's walking out. >> Affirm two black bags, orange bags. She's walking out. At the same time, police received indications that the suspect was attempting to flee the scene, and officers quickly positioned themselves outside to intercept her. Tension escalated immediately. >> Yeah. >> The store called the second. >> Just stop. Just stop. Just stop. >> Leave your hand. >> You want to get locked up behind your shirt. >> You're under arrest. Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Arrest the shop. Put your hands behind your back. Put your hands behind your back. >> Under arrest. You want to get underrest. I just I just watched. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Get the off. All right. >> We got hands. >> We got cops. >> Get off of me. Get off. Let's get that. Do not kick us. All right. >> You're going to get charged with resist. >> No, you're going to get charged with resist. Don't make it worse. Don't make it worse. >> Get off of me. Lock. And now we got you cuz you're under arrest. We didn't need to be like this. >> Get off of me. >> Stop moving. Stop it. Stop it. Stop making me stop resisting. Stop resisting. You You DON'T HAVE TO MAKE >> hurting me. >> All right. >> Get off of me. >> Stop. >> Her own attempt to evade led directly to her arrest. Yet, she seemed completely unaware of it, continuing to resist as if nothing wrong had happened. It has nothing to do WITH IT. >> I GAVE THE STUFF HOW I DIDN'T LEAVE THE store with it. >> You just WALKED OUT. >> I DID. I DROPPED YOU ON CAMERA. >> I dropped the stuff. I dropped the conversation. Let's just go over. >> Yeah. Right. Right. You observed everything on camera. >> My car is right over here. >> All right. We're going to bring you inside. >> All right. >> Stop it. Stop it. You're going to make it worse. It's over. It's over in the trash. >> Get the off of me. >> You're angry because you got caught. >> You call 41. >> I'm angry because I dropped your stuff. I tried to make it. >> Are you taking her in the car? >> You want her inside? >> You can put it on the bar. Tyler want Yes. >> Right here. to spread your legs. >> Like, I don't understand what y'all doing all of this for. Y'all got the stuff. >> Y'all have the stuff, though. >> You didn't even say nicely. You're like, "Oh, I'm sorry you got me." You just threw it on the ground and tried to walk away. You could have been like, "All right, I'm sorry, officer." Again, listen, you're under arrest. >> I have the stuff. >> That's still okay. Anything in your pockets? Okay. >> This is my stuff. >> Okay. But you're under arrest. It seemed that after realizing her intense resistance achieved nothing, the woman shifted to a new tactic to make things difficult for the police. Doing absolutely nothing in the most literal sense. >> Be cool. You mind stepping on out? >> 135 headquarters. >> Ma'am, you mind stepping on out? >> Ma'am, I don't want to pull you out of this car. Do you mind just stepping out? >> I'll be clear. I'll do an alarm. >> All right. Stop pulling me. Stop pulling me. Stop pulling me. I don't give a [ __ ] I don't give A Y'ALL SITTING HERE DRIVING ME. NO, I'm angry because y'all grabbing ME. Y CALLED THE FEMALE OFFICER. NO, IT'S NO WAY. SO WHY SHE MUSTN'T GRABBING ME? WHY Y'ALL GRABBING ME? WHY SHE WASN'T GRABBING ME? IT'S NOT BECAUSE NOTHING. Just leave me alone. Just get off of me. >> I can't cuz you're going to be stuck with us for the next couple hours time. That's man the whole scene right there the whole time the wall the wall please do you do you need to study a little bit >> I don't need to study nothing to know that a male officer is not supposed to be touching a female >> whatever okay whatever you >> Yeah I know I know >> that's why you're under arrest >> I don't give a I don't care >> of four stops. >> In fact, the woman's identity remained a mystery and she deliberately concealed it even as officers tried to persuade her at that moment. Stay there indefinitely until you provide your name. So, we're going to ask you some questions. Take a couple minutes to think about it. In through the nose, out through the mouth, wooaw, whatever you got to tell yourself, but we're going to answer you for your first name, last name, date of birth, all that stuff. You provide it, great. If you don't, you get fingerprinted. You don't do that, you get another charge. You don't do that. You go to county jail and you stay there indefinitely and literally for the rest of your life until you provide your name. So take a couple of minutes, cool down, think about it and we got to turn the computer on anyway and we'll go from there. >> The woman was soon identified as 25 year old Lauren, fully past the age of adulthood and capable of understanding responsibility for her actions. Yet officers still had to explain that to her. >> Again, you run the show here. So, if you're cool with us, we're going to be cool with you, and we'll get you out of here as fast as we can. But right now, you're just adding on more charges. You're making it difficult for yourself. You're making it difficult for us. We have a job to do. This is the consequence of your actions. Okay? So, please just be cordial with us, and we're going to be cordial with you. I've said please probably like five times so far. Okay? So, we're going to fingerprint you now. We're going to figure out who you are, which is going to probably add on another hour or two. And then from there, I have to sign complaints. It's probably going to be another hour. And then you're likely going to be going to county and that's about 30 40m minute drive. You're paying more traffic charged right now with shoplifting. This is a very very minor thing legally speaking, okay? Like very very low level criminal offense. Normally people get arrested for shoplifting and they come back here. Well, depending on how cooperative you would you wouldn't even interested if the party was just going to say, "Hey, come back. Give me your name." We'll pass that point. So, now we're looking at a ticket. A ticket means here you go. Please show up to court on whatever date. It's usually 2 weeks from now. So, that's just a single charge for you. You did resist. You're going to get a charge for that. She was ultimately charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, and hindering law enforcement. Actions driven by denial and resistance only escalate consequences. Owning up early can prevent a small mistake from turning into a serious situation. Worse still, this woman could not withstand the pressure brought on by her own actions. >> Because my husband divorc because there is a time I don't divorce this. >> Okay. Do you do you need an ambulance? >> Not. >> Are you sure? >> Yes. >> On the 21st of June 2024, police were dispatched to Target after receiving a report about a woman who committed theft inside the store. It was revealed that beyond the items she legitimately paid for, she had stolen additional merchandise in order to return it for money. For more details, listen to the employees account. >> How's it going? >> What's going on? >> This one's the most confusing. >> So, I mean, I could avoid everything and get and you know, what she paid on her card will go back to her card and then the two gift cards. >> So, why don't you just refuse the purchase of whatever she purchased legitimately, take it back, refund her card. It's the easiest way to do it. I just want to let you guys know cuz then we're going to hold all this stuff. >> What is it? >> An AC. >> You have the right to refuse business with her. So, just cancel it out. Refund her card and then >> Yeah, cuz she's going to say she she did pay for the stuff in that card. >> Yeah. Well, unfortunately, she stole while trying to purchase. >> I'm just trying to make sure she gets her money back that she did pay. >> I'm sorry. You're probably going to have to explain everything. >> It might be easier if I show you this. >> So, everything in this car was purchased. Okay. She had a fan earlier that she returned that she stole off the sales floor. So that's how she got 120 of this 224. Got. So I'm just trying to figure out how to do the return to where we get that 127 back and then she'll get back what she actually >> but as far as she only stole the 120 which was >> No, she stole everything in that basket over there. >> Oh. Yeah. Which was 37. That >> Yeah, that's included. That's including I put everything together. >> Perfect. Um so this is everything she stole. This is all good now. Correct. I just need to get the fan. But yeah, >> the fan's not on here. >> I included it in there. I just haven't got the money back for us for you guys. >> As far as my side, everything she stole is on here. >> Yeah, perfectly. I try to keep it all as one. >> Do we What do you need video? Selecting concealing everything. >> Yeah, we'll see if anything. >> Can you show the bookmarks? In the corner of the room, the female suspect showed fear at the arrival of the police. Signs of remorse appeared, but not because of her wrongdoing, rather because she was caught. >> You told me to not call the police. >> I'm sorry. >> You told me not to call the police. >> Um, no. We have to call because uh it was it was all the items that you attempted to steal was a high dollar. So, we have to call like uh to where she conceals. She's putting stuff in. >> Oh, okay. >> I'm sorry. >> I'm sorry. No. >> Okay. I understand. Just so you know, my body camera's on as well. I'm sure these officers already told you that. But >> I understand. I understand. But we're kind of past that point now. All right. So, right now, we just need to make sure that your daughter is taking This is your daughter, right? >> Yeah. >> We just need to make sure that she's taken care of. Do you have any family members nearby? Like no other family or close friends, neighbors or anything like that? Anyone that you would trust to take her? >> Yes, ma'am. >> All right, ma'am. So, uh, >> do you have information at the daughter's name? >> No, we don't have anything yet on. >> So, so ma'am, this is the issue. Okay. Unfortunately, like this officer said, we're past that already. Okay. I get it. >> I am. >> So I I I get all that. Listen, I I completely just let me speak just for me. Finish. >> Let me let me finish though. Just let me finish. >> I understand. But can you speak louder? >> Okay. >> Slowly. >> Okay. As she had pleaded, the officers spoke slowly and explained exactly what had brought them there. Yet, the more they laid out the details, the heavier the pressure became and the more anxious she grew about her fate. You taking items and putting them in your bags. >> Yeah. >> In that bag onto your daughter. That can't have that. That's That's That's stealing. It's shoplifting. >> I listen. Let me finish. I understand you can pay, but we're past that. You can't pay anymore. Okay. So, now we need to go down to headquarters. Okay. We're going to process you, do some paperwork, okay? Stuff like that. Okay. And then hopefully as long you know as long as you don't do you have any other history with the police? >> No. >> Okay. So I can't guarantee but I I I'm pretty sure you'll be out back today. Okay. And then we'll be able to release you today. Okay. But I can't guarantee. I can't promise. >> But my husband I I don't tell my husband. >> Give me one second. >> Problem because my husband divorces because there is a time I don't divorce this. >> I don't like the divorce. Okay. >> My husband >> Who's your husband >> in here? But >> he lives here. >> Yeah. But not now near in Brooklyn. >> In Brooklyn? >> Yeah. But >> he's currently in Brooklyn >> in work. >> He's work in Brooklyn. >> Yeah. But my husband has yet. But tired to sit with your friend. But I still tell my husband for problem >> because I divorced me. I have three kids. I I go in the >> in the streets, not in my house. >> Okay. >> The reason she offered seemed far from convincing enough to clear her name. So, the officers bluntly laid out the procedure she would be required to go through next. >> Unfortunately, right now, you know, we'll kind of get moving in a second when we figure out your daughter, but you're going to be under arrest today. Okay. >> I don't understand. I'm sorry. >> You're going to be under arrest today. I have to take you back to to headquarters. >> So, what happened after that? So, we're going to handcuff you. Okay. We're going to take you to headquarters. We'll do some paperwork, some fingerprints, pictures, and then hopefully, like I said, you don't have any other history with the police, right? >> I don't like my husband. They send THE PAPER FOR MY HOUSE BECAUSE I don't divorce anymore. I don't release that. Please. After the paperwork and the fingerprints and pictures, you should be released. Okay. Okay, please promise ME THROUGH >> I CAN'T I can't promise you anything. >> Okay, >> just relax for me. Okay, just sit tight for me. This is your back. >> Okay, I'm just going to look through it a little bit. Okay, my daughter. What happened? >> We're going to figure out somewhere, you know, someone to pick her up. Okay, so now >> Okay, we'll we'll figure that out later. Okay, we got to deal with one thing at a time. One sec. >> One sec. One sec. >> It appeared she had no real difficulty communicating despite what she had tried to suggest at the beginning. Because of that, the officers began to question whether her condition at that moment was merely an act. You can return this. So you you keep this. >> This is yours. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. Are you okay? >> Because I I have a a t-shirt. >> Okay. Do you Do you need an ambulance? >> No. >> Are you sure? >> Yeah. >> We can have an ambulance go to headquarters. We'll meet you at headquarters to look at you. >> I have I have record already. I I had the seizure in the hospital in in I don't remember but because I lost my memory for 2 years. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. It's okay. It happens. Unfortunately, you just made a bad decision today. Okay. >> I remember the hospital very short. >> Okay. >> I I have record. >> You have a record over there? >> Yeah. I I have a seizure. >> Okay. >> So, do you want Can we go to headquarters? I'll have someone look at you just to make sure you're okay. >> You want to do that? >> 623. >> Uh, no. I gave you guys case number and email. Um, I got the receipt and statement. I'll give you the email. >> Send the video over now. Other than that, we're good. We're just waiting to transport the child and then we'll we'll get her out. In the end, she was charged with retail theft. Deception only deepens the consequences. When someone chooses to fake confusion instead of taking responsibility, it destroys credibility and makes the outcome far worse. Even more strangely, the theft involving this man seemed even more unbelievable. >> I got to do all that. >> I'm just asking. We got cameras. I just wanted to tell the truth. >> You can run the cameras, bro. >> That's [ __ ] man. You know it, man. Why y'all ain't detaining the other dudes? >> On the 17th of July, 2023, police received a call from a shopping mall reporting a lost ring. But strangely, shortly after, a man claimed ownership of it, raising several suspicions. Listen to the doubts coming from the loss prevention employee. >> What's going on? >> Not much. You got a gentleman in the location who claimed a ring, a wedding ring that didn't belong to him. >> How'd he claim it? >> Uh, >> he just walked up. >> Actually, some someone turned it into one of the other officers. >> And obviously, he was in the area and he overheard him. So, when the officer came to record it in here, he came down and said, "Oh, did y'all find a ring? It belonged to me." >> Mhm. >> So, just so happened as he walked out, the >> Y ring. >> Yeah. because he he somewhat described it cuz he overheard the other officer describing it, but the actual owner had called and um described it as well. The one thing he didn't There's the lieutenant. >> Hey, how you doing, man? >> So, where is he at? He works in the mall. >> Right there. He works on a kiosk out. >> And he's saying that he didn't come to his dad, but he never >> Yeah. And >> Oh, you guys went and said something to him. >> I went and talked to him. I'm the one that signed off the ring. So, he kept claiming like, "Oh, that's my ring." So, I had them fill out the paperwork and sign off on it. And next, something told me to put next to it, just in case I forget, cuz I have a bad memory. I put Bentley kiosk next to it just in case cuz I know something wasn't right. So, I went over there and talked to him like, "Sir, the person that owns the ring actually called." He said, "Oh, yeah, man. That was in my ring. That was my dad ring. I already gave it to my dad, but he never left the kiosk." >> Shortly after, the police approached the suspect, but at that moment, his statement once again differed from what he had previously told the loss prevention staff. I'm officer Shaw at the Don Police Department. The reason I'm out here with you, where's the ring that you at? >> Was it your ring? >> Yeah, my father. I cash that. >> What the ring look like? >> It's my dad. >> So, your dad lost it in the mall? >> I did. I cash that. >> You what? >> I bought it. >> Uh-huh. Where'd you buy it from? >> I bought it from >> today. Yesterday. Yes, sir. You got the receipt? I don't receipt from you. >> You don't got the receipt? dang email your receipt or nothing like that. >> What store you bought it from? You in here? >> [ __ ] in Lawrenville. >> In Lawrenville. So what store? >> Jewelers. >> So if I went up to K Drillers and called them, they would say, "Yes, Mr. So and so." You got your ID? >> You ain't got no ID on you? >> No. >> All right. He's going to write down your name. Your name and date of birth. Go help from there. So we searched you have no ring on. >> I searched. All right. Give me your name and date. Then we go in there. You know the mall got cameras, right? Yeah. >> So, I'm going ask you again. I just want you to be honest with me. >> Was that your ring? >> Yes. >> It was your dad's ring. >> My car. >> So, I get you to call your dad. He going to say, "Yeah, that I got a ring and all that." >> I got to do all that. >> I'm just asking. We got cameras. I just want I just want you to tell the truth. >> You can run the cameras, bro. >> I can search you. He changed his story, claiming the ring was his instead of his father's as he had previously fabricated. The police confronted him about it, but he came up with another excuse to cover it up. >> Then you they went up to you and you said that that's my dad's ring. And now all of a sudden it's not your ring, it's your dad's ring. >> That's my pops ring. I bought it. >> Okay, then what's your dad's number? We just got to confirm. >> That's what I'm saying, bro. I know. >> We got to do an investigation of what happened. >> How y'all doing investigation? >> Cuz I'm about to call your dad. If your dad says yes, I lost a ring. My son gave it to me la then we can go from there right >> I'm saying if I don't feel comfortable calling my dad number like I need to call my >> then how we supposed to >> is that that's what it's looking >> how we supposed to confirm >> I'm just saying my my arm is a part of life first I need to call >> okay to do that but I don't >> I can call your mom then and she can verify and call your dad first >> okay so what's your dad's number >> I'm saying bro why you got I don't feel comfortable giving my dad Was it? >> What's your name? >> My name Jamal. >> Jamal? You don't got that ring? >> I don't have a ring. Jamal. My dad is in My dad's mother. >> Where'd you lose the ring at? >> I'm losing in the bathroom. >> You lost it in the bathroom? In the sink? >> Yes. I don't I don't even That's what I'm saying. I done been I don't been in trouble before. I know. I know the ins and outs, bro. I didn't I don't got I got a job. I got I'm not hurt. His speech became increasingly hesitant and stuttered, making it obvious that he was growing nervous. The police quickly took action to ensure he couldn't flee. >> You give me your dad's phone number and I can verify with your dad. We can go from there. But until then, this route we going to go. Okay. I'm >> saying, bro, like what? >> It's crazy. Where's the quickest way back to the security office? Yeah. >> I told you if you let me call your dad, we can go we can go that route. >> But I'm saying though, bro, I don't feel you comfortable doing that. >> That's why because you going to be placed under arrest for theft by deception because you claimed the ring that somebody else claimed. So I'm going place you under arrest unless I can call your dad and verify. If not, >> take me to jail for >> I'm going to take you to jail. >> But so what? How we going to know? How we know if you tell me the truth, though? >> Well, we going to see. That's why I got to investigate cuz right now you not cuz you ain't let me call you dad. Anybody else would be like cuz if it was me and you I know you not me I got no in trouble bro you know what I'm saying? I ain't got no reason to lie to y'all bro check the camera. >> We about to do all that. >> You could have just gave a ring back. >> A short while later the police quickly picked up a lead on the ring. Hey man, what's going on? You found the ring? >> Yeah, the guy at that booth behind him. >> Yeah. >> He told me the guy left the ring in in the bathroom. >> What guy? Did he describe the guy? >> And then he went came told me. I said, "Well, go get the ring and bring it back to me." >> Did he describe the guy? >> No. He he just seen him there and then he get a good glimpse at him, >> but he brought it to bring it back ring back to me. >> And then I said, "I'm going to take it to my lieutenant, which he got it." >> And it has some I was trying to read the descriptions on there. You know, it has some inside and outside. >> Yeah. You know, after I gave it to the captain, 5 minutes later, he came back talking about it was his ring. He couldn't describe what was on the inside of the ring or the outside. >> He couldn't describe it. >> And then your captain gave it to him. >> Mhm. We had him sign the paperwork in the office saying that it was his ring. >> All right. Give me one second, man. >> Hey, Mr. How you doing? >> I'm good. I'm good. I'm sorry. I'm still >> No, you're okay. Do you have pictures of the ring? >> Oh, boy. So, you're looking for like a picture with me and the ring in it? >> Yeah, it all every single picture of the ring you have. Send it to me. >> Still investigating right now, man. What we going to do is if anything, at the very least, you going to receive a citation for that marijuana. >> I got my license in Florida. >> You in Florida? >> Y. Oh, damn. That's me. That little Meech. >> Is that who that is? >> Yeah, little Meech. Damn, man. Man, I'm supposed to get a picture, too, man. Why y'all doing me like this, man? I ain't got no reason. >> It became clear that the man had lied in an attempt to take the ring. And shortly after, the police found it inside the suspect's car. >> That looks like it, sir. I'm not sure. >> Yeah, it looks like a ring in there. >> I can't see the writings on it, but it looks like Dave Mortar. >> That's the ring right there. It's gold. >> It's gold. >> Yep. That's it right there. >> It's there. >> The ring. >> How you know? >> It's there. >> You see it? >> Yes. >> Where? >> In the car in the cup holder. Call Vanahan. He says, "No, we can't grab it." That we have to impound it and take a search warrant on it. >> That's right. >> You can ask him right now. Hey, >> we see the ring. You got two options. You let us go in there. Your car stays here. We don't impound it. You say no. We're going to impound your car, get a search warrant on it, and then you got to go get it anyway. So, you got two options. Okay. >> You got two options. We see the ring in your car in the cup holder. You can give us consent to go get it and we go from there, or I'm going to impound your car and get a search on. Either way it go. I don't >> I just told you I got two rings. >> I understand that. But give us consent to make sure that one's not the one and then you good. But if not, I'mma impound it and go in there anyway. >> In the end, there was only one ring and the man was charged with theft by deception and possession of marijuana. When someone thought lying could outsmart the truth, it only led them straight into consequences because deception always leaves a trail. Then they proceeded to bypass all points of sale and exit without uh payment. >> Yeah. You see your daughter? >> On September 12th, 2024, officers received a report from Sephora about two women committing theft inside the store. But to understand the full details, listen to the story as told by the store's loss prevention employee. >> All right. So, I'm going to do a synopsis today. >> Perfect. I was on CCTV. >> Okay. >> I observed these two in the area of Dior which is a high theft area. So I just continued observation. >> Sure. >> And she just crossed cuz there's Dior in my cell and I observed her select and conceal items. Observed her select items. Hand them to her. Conceal items. And then they just proceeded around the store just selecting and concealing various items. Yeah. >> And then they proceeded to bypass all points of sale and exit without uh payment. >> I met them right outside the exit. And >> do you know who had what? >> At that moment, officers approached the two women and they seemed embarrassed as they realized their own wrongdoing. >> I mean, it's up. Do you want to tell me what happened? You want to tell me anything? And I know they kind of already went through it, but um There's not much to say. >> No, nothing. >> Was the plan not pay for this stuff or >> I don't know. I was just really sorry. >> Yeah. Is she your daughter? >> Okay. Um, is there anybody else that like do you have a husband or anybody else? Does she have a dad that you are in contact with? >> No. >> No. Where is he at? >> Okay. You guys live together? >> No, he's in um Bellingham. >> Bellingham. Okay. Can I get his contact information? Um cuz so right now both of you are under arrest for the theft. Okay. Yeah. So, and that's I want to call him and let him know if that's okay with you guys. Yeah. What's his contact information? >> Do you have your ID on you? >> Okay. What about her? >> Is it supposed to? >> Uh, no. It's already too late. Yeah, >> unfortunately. All right. Kind of still that boat sailed when you walked out, right? So, um, does she have ID? >> Okay. What's her name? Their cooperation helped the investigation move forward quickly and shortly after the officer informed them of what they would have to face. >> So, I can put you both in handcuffs now. We can walk all the way through the mall or >> you just woke up. >> We still got to go to my car, though. >> It's fine. >> Okay. All right. And I mean, if anybody runs, right, you're just going to be tackled. So, >> okay. Um but yeah, if you guys are continue to be compliant, then you know, we don't have to throw in handcuffs in front of everybody. But um my card is not too far. So, but we'll just sit in there. I'll fill some paperwork and we'll figure the rest out. Okay. Sweet. Then the bag I'm going to have to take. Okay. Thank you. All right. You're still going to have to go in handcuffs, though. Okay. So, here before you step in there, I'm going to I'll put you in handcuffs. Just turn around. Yeah. Sorry. Thank you. >> Everything seemed calm on the surface, but the two of them still had to face serious consequences because the value of the items they took was just as significant. >> I'm going to talk to my sergeant and see exactly what's going to happen because right now, according to them, it's two felonies. Yeah. So over $750 is a felony. So I'm going to ask my sergeant and see if we can figure out something so that you know both of you aren't going. But if both of you had merchandise and it all equals above 750 bucks, then both of you are going to be arrested for a felony, which is pretty bad, right? um that doesn't mean that you're going to be convicted of a felony, right? So, how the process works is tomorrow morning, first today, Thursday, or Friday. So, tomorrow morning, you guys will both see if you're both going, let's just say, okay, tomorrow morning, you'll have a court date set. a judge will see you in the morning sometime probably via like a like Zoom or something and they'll either say, you know, you can bail out that day and leave or they'll you'll be released or you'll stay however long the judge sees fit. But considering it's your guys' first times ever being arrested, they'll probably go a little easy on you and it most likely won't still be a felony. They'll probably drop it down to a misdemeanor. But I don't know, and I'm not making any promises. I'm just trying to tell you the process. >> Both women were charged with felony retail theft. Greed and poor judgment turned a simple shopping trip into a criminal charge, proving that one reckless decision could quickly destroy a reputation and future. Next, the woman ended up calling 911 only to set herself up for her own arrest. >> You trying to say that we took that we stole? >> Dude, let me see the the um receipt. >> We counted everything in our cart and still going to say we stealing. Called y'all though. I called y'all. I called y'all for my safety cuz they thought we were stealing. >> On the 24th of February 2025, the police received an emergency call from a female customer at Walmart reporting complaints about the employees. But there was more to the story behind it. First, let's see why she made the call. >> And literally, I'm not about to keep arguing with them. He got we got all our receipts right here for the TV and everything. He counted everything in our cart and still trying to say we stealing stuff. You counted one cart. You didn't even count my food cart. We got all Look, everything's on here. >> Did you call 911? >> Yes, I did. What are you talking about? >> I'm out with the caller. Um, do you want to go talk to them? You want me to talk to them? >> I want the rest of my [ __ ] He's trying to say that we took that we stole. >> Let me see the the um receipt. >> Counted everything in our cart and still going to say we stealing. [ __ ] >> Listen, just don't go anywhere yet. I'm going to help you guys work it out. >> No, no, I'm Uber. So, I'm just Uber. >> Yeah, I'm just I'm going to cancel it. >> No, don't cancel. >> Yeah, cuz you're going to spend time here. >> No, we're not. >> I got We got to make sure everything's all good. >> No, everything is fine. No. >> Just give me one sec. Hey said this stuff is good. This is good. >> This stuff is all good. >> This is good. But he's saying that the rest of the stuff that we didn't >> Did you How did you pay? Did you just >> You pay no Walmart pay. You can't pay nothing else but Walmart pay or card. Please do not cancel cuz you got to go home to my nephew. Pay for it. >> How'd you get all this out here by yourself? >> My brother. >> Oh, okay. >> He counted everything in the car. Half of the stuff that's in that's not in his cart is in there cuz he took it out. Hurry up. >> They talking about he going to call the cops. No, I'm going to help you. I don't Nobody need to steal. We got money. I got EBT. >> Yeah, but it's saying I don't know how to read this. So, is it Was it declined? >> No, he declined it, but it was because he he had um a regular card instead of Apple Pay. Yeah, he he used Walmart pay, so he declined it and then paid for it again. >> It could be seen that the woman insisted that all the items had been fully paid. On the other side, an officer also gathered additional statements from her brother. >> Yeah, we were trying >> trying to figure is this two separate incidents? What is this? No, this is we trying to verify the items that the >> Okay. >> Some of the items are not >> what did you not check out? >> Did you not scan it on check out? >> No, I some some have not been and and they don't want to they don't want to verify. >> Okay. >> There's a lady who has just left it with >> Yeah. I have my partner talking her outside here. So, >> let them just bring everything because some of them are not safe. >> Okay. >> Are you listening? >> Yes. So now what I'm saying is I didn't come up to the front. >> I got the TV, my game, all that. Right. >> Are you with them outside or not? >> Yes, I with them outside. But in the midst of that, he's saying he stopped us, right? Showed them the receipt. He's saying that it's some item that's not paid for. >> Do you have Do you have the receipt? >> She has. >> I'm talking I'm trying to be I'm talking to him. >> Okay. So >> So then after that, he's saying But they started going back and forth. I'm telling her to give him a seat. All right. She not giving it to him. He's saying the stuff that's in that car is not paid for, right? I'm like, "All right, cool. It's not paid for. That's not my issue. I didn't bring this stuff up. The person that was going to back me up, but I paid for it. It's no issue. I show you my car. I paid for it." >> Were you guys all together at one checkout counter? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, this items that you have right here, >> this right here is paid for, but the stuff and that stuff is he went through that already. But he's saying >> all that stuff is good. That right there is not paid for. All I'm saying, I will pay for it then. But he's making a big issue. My Uber is about My Uber is about to cancel. I said my Uber cancel. >> At this point, due to suspected shoplifting, the police proceeded to review the items. Not only those inside the store, but also the ones outside that were brought in. >> She got this. He has >> let me go here. >> Okay. Oh, sorry. >> So, all you want to do correct is just just verify stuff, right? Just listen. Listen to me. Listen to me. >> What you want to do is you just want to verify the items. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> That's it. >> Yeah, that's it. >> Okay. All right. So, let's verify this real quick so we can get him out of here. Let's go. You have uh the receipt once for >> the camera show right there. Tell me running camera back that he just verified it three times. >> Camera's right there. Cameron's right there. >> All right. All right. Stop. What are we trying to do? What do you need? You need the receipt. >> Can I have the receipt? Let me have the receipt. >> You keep giving this receipt if you just seen this [ __ ] eight times. It came right there. Thanks to the officer's careful attention, the loss prevention staff then cross-checked the items and indeed found that some had not been paid for. Those not on white. >> Yeah, but one of them is not on it. >> Is it not on sale? Is it not verified? >> No clothes on the receipt. These are >> those are not ones. Those are not. >> This is another one. Aside from the unpaid items, most of the remaining goods had been paid for using their mother's EBT card. So, they were allowed to leave, but there would have been nothing more to discuss if they hadn't continued lying to the police afterward. >> Put this down as a misunderstanding. Understand? >> Okay. Thanks. >> All right. Uh, did did you provide the other officer right here? >> Yeah, I don't have a No, I I said that I was 17, but they asked me did I have an ID, and I said no. >> Okay. >> But my name is Sierra Williams. I called on the phone. >> You didn't do anything wrong. Why? Why lie about who you are or how old you are or anything? >> Why lie about my age? >> Why do anything wrong? If you didn't do anything wrong, why would you say >> I don't really want to get too in detail? Just I didn't know I had to get past like asking who I am and do I have ID? >> Why wouldn't you? >> Because I didn't do nothing for me to give you any information. >> Stop inside a store with police officers and security. >> I called y'all though. I called y'all. All right. >> I called y'all for my safety cuz they thought we were stealing it. >> So, was there anything in your carts that you didn't purchase? >> Everything. He just verified. Am I correct? He just verified everything. He just checked each and every whatever was not verified, he has. And he just told us. He just came up to us and said whatever was >> I got to We have to identify you first. So, if you have an ID, give it to me now or else you're going to be waiting. >> I do not have an ID. >> Okay. Why did you lie when and you said you're 17? In fact, the woman lied about being 17 years old to try to avoid responsibility if she had committed a crime. Clearly showing she was aware of her shoplifting and other actions, including her defiant attitude when asked for ID at that moment. >> I know it was, but I just didn't think >> you're going to lie. At least do it right. But where's your ID? Give it to me now. >> I don't How you pressuring me about something that I do not have? >> How do you not have an ID? >> Because I don't have one. It takes a >> You're 19 years old. >> I'm 20, actually. But I said 04. >> So, what am I? >> Regardless, you said the wrong date. Give us your mother's name and her phone number. We're going to call her on her phone. Say you're 17. So, we don't need to know. >> She's not. She said she gave you a different date. Now, >> I'm not 17. I'm >> I got to Do I have a picture? >> Yeah, but we still don't have a deal or anything. >> Yeah, we got to do it so we can trespass him. >> I don't have an ID. >> Call your mom. >> My mom is not What is my mom going to say? >> So, we if you're 17, someone has to come pick you up. >> I'm not 17. >> Why did you lie? Because I didn't think I had to give y'all information about something that happened. >> We're investigating a shot a possible shoplifting. >> But it's it's in >> and now you're trespassing from the source. So now we have to identify it. Show me anything that can prove your name that you're telling me. You have a debit card or anything? You got nothing? >> I can't EBT. >> You have nothing with your name on it. >> Hang. How old am I? >> No. I want to talk to one of your parents. >> Mama, she's sleep. Oh, my dad. Hold on. >> Hello, Dad. How old am I? >> Dad, you sleep? My bad. Just How old am I, Dad? >> Just give up. Just talk to the officer. >> How old am I? >> Let me talk to your dad. I got to identify you. You're making it harder. >> I'm not making You're making it much harder. >> How am I making I'm 20. Give me anything that has your name on. >> I don't have No, I don't have I'm not lying. I literally >> You already lied. So why should I believe you? >> I literally have a Starbucks card. >> Although she had been exposed, she still insisted she hadn't lied. But shortly after, under pressure from the police, she began to admit everything. >> Me in the corner. Look. Okay. Wait, I just want to talk to her personally. >> Okay. Me personally, I don't want to get in trouble. I didn't steal nothing. I wasn't doing nothing. But yeah, I did lie and I apologize. But I just don't want to get in trouble cuz I'm already on probation, but I wasn't stealing nothing. >> If you're on probation, then you you should know by now that you need to be providing your proper information when you come across. >> I don't want to get in trouble because I don't we are there's they don't want to press charge on shop. You could have left here 20 minutes ago if you gave me your proper name. See how this is a problem, right? Why? Why did you lie? Do you have orders? >> No, I'm on probation. I mean, if they think that I'm stealing, I'm I could go back to jail and I don't want that to happen when I wasn't stealing. >> Right. But so if you want to prove your case and you want to prove to people you're not stealing. You need to learn to cooperate with people. You can't be out here causing a scene because when you're causing a scene to me and my partners, my guard is up. I'm like, "Why is she causing a scene like this? Something's wrong." Then you're not cooperating with them. They're trying to get you out of here. They wanted to check your receipt and check the items and you would have been out. >> But now we have a problem cuz you lied. You lied to me twice. Yeah. >> Okay. So, stay here. Give me a second. I have to verify your identification. >> It turned out she had her ID with her all along, and her attempt to hide it ultimately made it impossible for her to leave easily. >> Listen, there's no reason I would have worked with you if you didn't lie to me three, four times about your name. You want your brother to take this stuff? >> What? Yeah. >> Your purse? >> Yeah. >> Do you have anything else in your pockets? >> Uh, that you want me to take out? I'll reach for it. It's my phone. It's my phone. >> You want to take your phone with you? That's what you're saying. All right. Hold a few. >> I mean, I'm sitting in the cell probably. Yeah. >> No, you're going to be sitting right here. >> Oh, dude. >> Um, so just give me those. I'll let you leave the black one on. >> All right. >> Just sit down for a sec. What? Um, I'm going to have you take that hat off, too. >> All right. My wig is Damn. Can I get my other jacket? >> For what? >> This just broke. >> All right. Just Just sit for a sec. What's up with your hair? >> It's a wig. You want to see? >> Oh, it's in the hat. >> What's in the hat? No, no, it's 2:15. >> In the end, the woman was charged with obstruction of justice, providing false identification, criminal trespassing, shoplifting, and disorderly conduct. Lying to avoid trouble only made the situation worse if she had been honest and cooperative from the start. She could have walked away without facing serious charges. >> Get on the ground. >> On the ground. Yes, ma'am. On the ground. Yes, ma'am. >> On the ground. >> Going to take that baby. Is that what you want? We're trying to accommodate you. He's allowed to do that. On the 25th of May 2024, police received a call from a store reporting an organized shoplifting operation. Upon arriving at the parking lot scene, tensions immediately escalated as officers attempted to stop the suspects from fleeing. >> Get on the ground. Get on the ground. I didn't do nothing. >> On the ground. Yes, ma'am. >> On the ground. Yes, ma'am. >> On the ground. >> I didn't do nothing. >> Stay on the ground right now. >> Crush on the ground. >> I didn't do nothing, ma'am. >> Dude, put it down. Roll on your stomach. Put transport on your back. >> I'm trans. >> Give me the other hand. Give me the other hand. >> I'm trans. >> Just do what he says, dude. Do what he says. >> I am. >> Roll over on your back. >> I got a little >> I'll help you. I'll help you. Roll over. Sit up now. Sit up. >> Sit up. >> I got a lower back problem. >> Sit up. >> All right. What's your name? You have an ID in there? >> No. Driver's license. >> All right. What's your first name? >> Kelly. >> Where are you staying at now? >> I'm homeless. >> Just around here? >> In the woods? Yes, sir. >> Stay right here. Right here. >> Don't talk to each other. >> Okay. Over there by Toledo and Collinswood, >> you know. >> Bro, this is my backyard. Put that the back of my hand. >> Yeah, sir. >> All right. Listen, take a deep breath. All right. I'm going to walk over to my car. Have you can sit down. Get you s Get you some water if you want. All right. >> Did you hear what I said? >> Did you hear what I said? Sit down and don't talk. >> The sheer number of suspects appeared to complicate the situation as even lawful police commands were obstructed when individuals invoked family ties to interfere. >> Sit right here so you have my back. >> That's my son. >> Okay. >> You sit right here so you can hear him. Okay. Just sit right. There you go. >> Hey, >> I don't don't say anything. >> Traffic lights going to be down. >> Did you listen to me? Nobody is talking right now. Sit down and be quiet. >> Reed, can you do me a favor? Get the vehicle tag and rented >> and start getting my friend. >> Hey, Fred. How are you? >> I'm all right. >> You got buddies? You got buddies out in the parking lot, too, then? Huh? >> I say buddies. >> Yeah. Acquaintances. Business friends, right? >> Those are still pretty strong. >> No, I wouldn't say so. >> Well, back to my backstage here. Is there mass on the curb? >> My buddy's bar. >> Yeah. Yeah, man. You're good. >> Okay. >> I swear. >> Don't be taking pictures of me in my car. >> Hey, hey, don't touch me. >> N 100%. >> It's a public space. I'm allowed to take your picture. >> That would be battery. Ma'am, >> don't take a [ __ ] baby. >> This is what's going to happen. You end up in trouble to see who's going to take that baby. Is that what you want? We're trying to accommodate you. He's allowed to do that. You're in the middle of a couple of felony investigations and could be an accomplice. >> Do you understand? So, don't get an attitude with us or you'll end up in handcuffs in the back of a car, too. So, we're not being asses. You're sitting there next to your baby. You're going to treat us with us with respect, too. >> They have a scout. I knew it. 110%. In reality, officers had already been fully aware of the suspect's actions. They even identified a lookout, and law enforcement had personally witnessed how the entire scheme unfolded. >> All right. >> Well, here's the deal. >> Um, you got some friends, obviously, right? I knew you had some friends 110%. And uh, as soon as we go to leave, right, your friends say, "Hey, bro, we're good. We're good. We're good. We're good." And then uh, here you are. From me to you, firm handshake, as you know, just like be real with me so I don't have to play these games cuz we kind of already know what's going on. Yeah. >> What's from your perspective? What are what are we doing today? This is silly. >> He walked down. >> That was last week. I never filed on. >> Okay. signal blind. >> We are both uh homeless. >> Okay. >> And uh we found that uh you know getting people clothes that we pay for it. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So you have two people that pay you to go into a store and grab >> and the man at the center of it all was no exception. He was taken into custody as well. Yet he showed no remorse whatsoever. >> Give it >> Tyler Ross. >> Please, I'm working with you. >> Where are you from? >> Fort Ross. >> Ross Ro. What's your middle name? >> Frank. >> What's your date of birth? >> 111. >> What's your last four of your social? >> Uh that I didn't lie about. I really don't know. That I would not I promise you like I'm I'm shaking. >> Being on probation, dude. Like what did you think was going to happen? Like we were just going to let you go without knowing. >> You got to get away from the lifestyle, dude. That's why you're on probation to get away. >> Do something work somehow. >> This is all on camera, dude. Everything >> Everything Everything you done is on this is this is your choice, brother. >> Leave. Like >> is there anything in your Crocs, your socks? >> No, sir. No, sir. Please >> just take a few puffs and then you just spit it out. Okay. >> Please, sir. I I can't go to jail. I understand, but you're still living a lifestyle, brother. >> Well, what? >> You were in here last week. You're here with people stealing again. And you're giving a false name. >> Put you right. >> That's a crime within itself. >> You got to hear from my employment police or I'm from out of county. I just >> Okay. But if you gave a right name, you probably would have left with nothing. >> Can Can we work somewhere? >> So, let me talk to my corporal. But go ahead and get the cigarette out. I'll be right with you. Let me get the AC on. And you seen I've been chill with you the whole time. >> Please. I'll do much to just give me a second, >> please. >> At the same time, police searched the suspect's bags and discovered an item that ultimately exposed their crime. >> Okay, better. See, my test kits were trash. They were too old. >> Oh, yeah. >> So, it's got THC. >> Yeah. Yeah. Um, typically this is not something you can buy. This is something that would come from a different state um or from a medical marijuana dispensary, but I don't think it'd be from the medical marijuana dispensary cuz it doesn't have any prescription label or anything on it. Um, so maybe from Colorado or something like that. It says, >> but Florida doesn't recognize that as medical marijuana. >> No, not to my knowledge. No. Typically, it comes in a something, you know, >> actual bill. >> It would say, you know, true leave or, you know, that name of that company on the right, to identify it as medical. >> I don't think I for >> Oh, not for smoking. I don't I don't even know what that is. >> I I'm not even joking. Does anybody know what this is? I've never seen something like this before. >> Is it a magnet? Is it a retail defeat? >> Oh, yeah. You know what that is? That's the uh It's a retail defeat device. >> It's You know how they do the little >> two magnets in the >> two magnets. They put it put on a piece of clothing. >> Yeah. >> And that's that gets on it. >> The insert is they have magnets and coals. Yeah. I'm almost they do. >> Yeah. >> Hey, that's put this for evidence. >> Yeah. >> And fun fact, we can test it in the store. >> Yeah. Take >> Why don't you go do that? >> Yeah. current situation is you got the one that you chase down the mess the today's retail theft got this one with the car this retail theft this guy gave false name date of birth and he has THC pens on him not nothing >> you know and and violation of probation right so he got a new law viol >> the white-haired suspect continued shifting the blame onto others to protect himself unaware that police had already seen through every trick he tried to play >> okay these so these are two stoves Right. >> Yes, sir. >> So, okay. These are layered. >> I tried to I >> Wait, wait. And then would you say this one's stolen, too? Right. Now, hear me out. When we style ourselves before we go out and we want to look nice, right? When you add multiple pairs of clothing on, would you call that layering? >> Yeah, buddy. >> I get it. I know that. So, your typical thing is you layer your clothing. And today, you layered your clothing again. >> Fine. Right. >> Okay. It's all good. >> One's going to layer, another >> um Okay. So, this one's uh not yours either, right? >> Is this one yours? >> Yes. >> Oh, yeah. You came in the black shirt with these shorts. >> And the shirt. And the bunny shirt. >> Oh, these are your shoes, too, that you came in. >> And the bunny shirt. >> But the bunny shirt and the backpack. That is my >> Why did you leave the backpack by the door? >> Cuz I didn't I really was genuinely not planning on stealing. And I know that they get nervous when people walk around their stores with a backpack. >> Okay. Seriously. >> So, in If you didn't genuinely plan on stealing, why were you in the store for 6 and 1/2 hours? >> We literally got stranded. >> Why were you in the fitting room for 2 hours? I was halfway hiding and then halfway talking to myself. >> Why were you hiding >> from her and her shopping when she >> So she already said what's going on to my friends down the road, you know. Um I don't want to look at you as a liar cuz next time I open the door I might change up, you know. But you've been pretty straightforward. But >> yeah, like there was no mastermind playing here. >> You didn't come in here with an intent to steal? >> I came in here with the intent to return that bracelet. >> And then what? >> When they told me that I couldn't because I did not have my identification to cheat. If you were wondering how thieves managed to remove security tags using that device, police had already investigated and uncovered exactly how it worked. >> You think so? It should. >> Imagine that. Can you do it again for my camera? >> And I'm going to make sure it's all nice. >> Yeah. >> Good for you. >> Thank you. Appreciate you. I'm sorry about that. >> That was okay. Just hot. >> That's crazy though. >> Yeah. Be like that. >> Yeah. This is a No. No. It's a crime to happen. >> The suspects were charged with theft by shoplifting and possession of criminal tools. This case showed that blaming others and denying responsibility only made the consequences worse as every action was already documented and ultimately led to heavier. Next, let's follow the couple who thought they had successfully escaped. I'm not moving, sir. >> On April 11th, 2025, police were dispatched to a Target parking lot after receiving a tip that a man and woman were attempting to flee following a theft. Upon arriving at the scene, everything instantly erupted into chaos. >> Get down. Get down. Get down. Get down. Get down. >> Get out. Get out. Get out. >> Get out. >> She's running. She's running. Go get her. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. Hands behind your back. Stop fighting. >> Stop fighting. >> Stop fighting. >> Stop fighting. >> Stop fighting. >> Stop fighting before you get again. Turn around. Get on your back. >> All right. Stop fighting. >> Raise your hands behind your back. This was the outcome when the woman tried to flee from the police. Yet, it seemed that the events unfolding had made things increasingly difficult for her. Get on your back. >> Get on your back. >> Get on your back. I'm sorry. Did they get that again? >> Yes. They got him. >> I need a unit in front of pull your competitor up. >> Get on your back. >> Get on your back before I You again. >> Get on your stomach. >> Get on your stomach before I You again. >> Get on your stomach. >> Get on your stomach. >> Turn around. >> Turn around. Turn around. >> You're making it worse. >> Okay. Turn around and get on your stomach. >> I don't want to go to jail. >> Get on your stomach. >> Going to jail. >> Am I going to jail? >> You're about to if you don't get on your stomach. >> Okay, but >> get on your stomach. >> I'm not going to go to jail. >> Get on your stomach. >> No, no, no, no, no, no, no. >> Turn around on your stomach. >> Lay down on your stomach. >> Although the woman appeared remorseful, her actions continued to cause trouble, forcing her once again to lie face down on the ground. Place your hand behind your back. You know it. Okay. >> Stop playing. >> I'm not playing with you. >> Get on your Get on your stomach. Get on your stomach. >> Water. 11 females still fighting. >> I don't want to I don't want to. >> You got my taser. You're about to do that. Are you okay? Are you okay? >> Stop fighting. >> I get me. I get me. I get me. >> Meanwhile, the man involved in the incident was also apprehended, and his attitude proved just as difficult as the woman's, making the situation far from easy. >> Got one male detained. Not moving. >> I'm not moving, sir. >> Give me your hands. >> Alpha 6. Alpha 7 51. >> Deploy. >> Oh [ __ ] Can't do this. >> Oh [ __ ] Turn around. >> You got any weapons on you? >> No sir. >> Am I going to find anything in that car? What the were you running back in there for? >> No, I was trying to go. She goes on my car. >> So when I suddenly start >> immediately afterward, the police quickly began recovering the items suspected to have been stolen. >> I'd be willing to bet this is all stolen. Okay. Um, >> do you guys need somebody to go to Target? >> Yes. >> Let's go. >> What do you need? >> Uh, we need to find just everything like what they stole. We need a statement and uh a receipt. >> 131. >> Did you Miranda him? >> No, I will. Then you can slide in. >> Come on. >> Set up. Set up. The woman was soon taken for medical assistance while being questioned and simultaneously both began their blame game against each other. >> Who was I that you were with today? Was that your boyfriend? >> What did they say? Did they call you back? >> Who is he? >> Just a friend. All right, I need your eyes open. Open your eyes. Come on. >> Now, listen. I'm going to be honest with you. There was more fent found in the car. Is that yours or is that his? >> Huh? >> His Okay. Do you know where he got it from? >> No. Were you with him when he got it or did he have it on him before? had him on before. Okay. Where did he pick you up at? >> Hey, >> stay with me now. Don't go back to sleep yet. >> Pills cuz she's pointing >> really. >> Trust me, anybody that knows my name tells you call anybody res. Oh [ __ ] >> Okay. So now that is yours. >> All right. >> Both were charged with retail theft, resisting arrest, and drug possession. The key lesson here is that trying to flee or shift blame only worsens the situation. Cooperating with authorities and taking responsibility from the start is far safer than playing games that lead to more charges. Next. The man failed after believing he had successfully escaped. >> I said, "I don't have the money." >> It's okay. And so you came out of the store with it with the >> No, I did not come out of the store with it. >> Were you by the doors? >> No, I wasn't. >> So, um, originally we saw him select the Hennessy and, um, he put the Hennessy two in the bags and then two outside of the cart. >> On May 9th, 2025, officers received a report from Walmart about a man who fled after stealing a cart full of unpaid merchandise. As soon as they arrived on scene, the suspect immediately realized what was happening and instantly denied everything. >> It's two. I'm out with it. >> Stay right where you're at. Get back in the car. >> Get back in the car. Now >> you can get back in the car. Roll the window down till my backup gets here. >> Shut the door like I told you to. Please. >> Now they say they have you on video concealing items. So we're going to >> Didn't realize I didn't have my wallet on me with my uh >> So you've walked out without some with some items that you haven't paid for, right? >> I did walk out with it. >> Where's it all at? >> They pushed it out the door. Told me to come pay for it. I said I don't have the money. >> So okay. So, you came out of the store with the with the >> No, I did not come out of the store with it. >> Were you by the doors? >> No, I wasn't. >> Where were you at when you were with the cart? >> Right at the register. I was with my mom. I didn't have the money. >> All right. >> Well, we're going to figure out what's going on here. Just sit tight until my backup gets here and we'll figure it out. We're going to look on the video and we're going to see if you're lying to me. >> I didn't have the money. >> I realized I didn't have a wallet with me. >> Okay. So, where like So, when you came you you said you didn't push out the door. >> I'm not pushing out the door. So, where did you push out the money? So, you pushed it to where? Like the exit way to get out or whatever? >> Yes. I laid on my mom. She only let me. I didn't take it out the door. >> Okay. >> That would be stealing. >> Well, going past the last point of purchase. Going past the cash registers. That's >> And I pulled it up to the side of my mom. >> Going past the cash registers. That is the last point of purchase. That's retail theft. It doesn't matter. >> What do you mean retail theft? How's that retail theft? >> I'll explain all to you in a minute, but right now you're being detained. You're not free to leave. It was clear that the man's statements were full of inconsistencies and even his attitude showed irritation at being accused like that, forcing the officers to explain the situation. >> You have every option to pay for it. That's where the cash register was at, right? >> I did not take it. >> Do you have an ID on you? >> Yes, I do. >> Let me see your ID, please. >> Well, I did not tell you. >> He's trying to explain to me. >> No, but >> I shouldn't kill me with you. >> I didn't say you're going to jail. I said if you cooperate with me, you won't go to jail. Okay. I'm not going to give you a law lesson right now, but when you're in a store and you have stuff with you, you pay for it before you go further from that. When you don't, you go past that, they say you're stealing from them, and that's why you get a retail theft. You can tell to the judge. I'm I'm not being a jerk. I'm just telling you if you go past the cash registers with stuff and then say, "Oh, I forgot to pay for it." >> Yeah. >> That doesn't make sense, right? >> All right, sir. What I'm going to do is I'm going to get you out. I'm going to put you in handcuffs. If you give me any problems whatsoever, I promise you're going to have a problem. Okay? You understand what I'm saying? Step outside and face that way. Hands behind your back for me, please, sir. >> Yes, sir. >> I said as long as you cooperate, you won't. Okay. Got it. >> So, so far you've been cooperating. I understand you're a little upset. I get it. I deal with this. We're here out here every shift, every day. >> Make sure this thing double locks so it doesn't lock up on you. Well, you told me you you went and pulled over to the side after because you figured you didn't have to pay for it, but you should have paid for it before you got to that point. >> I was going to ask my mom to borrow some money and she wasn't. >> Okay. Do you have any anything on you I should know about any knives, drugs? >> I think I got >> needles, nothing. >> At that point, officers had temporarily detained the man to prevent any second attempt to flee. But that did not mean he admitted guilt as he continued insisting on his innocence. >> You decide you want to fight or something like that? >> I promise you. I I know. I'm just giving everyone every benefit of the doubt cuz I don't want people to say that I lied to them. Watch your knee, man. >> Huh? >> My mom's attention. >> Yeah. Just so you know, you have the right to remain silent. Do you understand your rights? >> All right. Yeah. I'm going to write you a ticket and you're I'm going to release you from here, but I have to see what's on the video first in the security office. So, Officer Bean is going to come over here and stand with you while I go in and check that out. And you're not lying to me, right? This is your last chance. You're not lying to me. Uh, can you just stand with him and I'll go in and look at the video and stuff? >> Okay. All right. >> Shortly after, the suspect was taken back to the store to verify the story with the staff. And from there, all of his actions were fully exposed through the surveillance footage. Hey, >> how's it going? >> Good. still recording just so everyone knows. >> So, um originally we saw him select the Hennessy and um he put the Hennessy two in the bags and then two outside of the cart. >> And then he goes to auto where he selects this jack down here. And then he's looking around quite a bit. So, we continue to follow. Then he gets up to the front and he meets up with this lady that apparently was with him. And they go to the checkouts. She checks out her stuff and he just hangs behind her. And then he tries to walk out but sees me starting to come up. So he leaves the cart and then walks out. >> So he was past the cash registers. >> Past the cash registers. This is where he put his cart. >> Ditched the cart right here when he saw Anthony. Like he was heading out the door. >> Okay. >> And he had he admitted to being past the cash registers. >> Yeah. >> He's like, I didn't steal anything. Yeah, you did. You went past the l the cash register. >> And then he had them bagged up like this. And then it's a bunch of steaks and a bunch of seats. I'm surprised he haven't dug. Maybe I just seen him in your >> I think um >> I'm just shopping at his m. >> Yeah, we're going to go ahead and trespass him cuz I believe that's over. I'm pretty >> uh so I'll get that written up for you real quick. >> I'll I'll be right back. >> All right. So, I saw all the stuff that you you had that you didn't pay for. Uh just going to write you a ticket. We're going to cut you loose. They're going to they're going to criminally trespass you from here, which means you can't go back on any Walmart anywhere. They have I mean face recognition cameras and stuff, so as soon as you walk in the door at any Walmart, they'll know you're there. So So don't do that. Okay, let me get this written out, get the paperwork, and you'll be out of here. >> It did not stop there because shortly after officers discovered that the man was linked to similar incidents, even involving the same methods and items. So they returned to the store to investigate further. >> Says he's been in Poria before, but he's never gotten in trouble. Yeah, I'd say. No, it was looks similar. >> Do you care if I ask him? >> Yeah, you can. Just say we got you on video on this date about it. He's going to get a copy of that criminal trespass. >> Well, he got you from our store and Morton before. Remember that previously? >> No, I know you're not coming back here, but you know what I'm talking about. >> Okay. January 25th, they got you on video >> in Morton, which is it's about 7th of February. >> Stealing the exact same stuff. Liquor, the steak, and the thing. >> Never had this hat, but what about literally you have like the same mark? >> It's just Well, you could lose weight. This was a months ago. Four months ago. So, you're going to say that's not you. >> Okay. So, when we look up the car and all that, don't have a car. Well, I definitely think that it's you. So, we'll figure that part out. But >> obviously, it's up to them. But, I mean, the evidence is right there. >> You're not going to go to jail for this, but if you're lying about this, too, then I'm going to send you obstructing charges, too. >> So, if if it is you, tell them. If it's not, then that's so >> So, I'm going to give you your your ticket here. It just says that you're going to go to court Monday, 2nd of June, Taz County. >> And this is them banning you from all Walmarts. You can't come back. I just have to say it cuz I'm bad. In the end, the man was issued a court date and released shortly after. He now faced a retail theft charge and a criminal case. A single dishonest decision, no matter how small it seemed, could quickly spiral into serious legal consequences that were far harder to escape. >> Defender, she comes up. She opens a cabinet's associate will facilitate. >> I don't want like to be arrested for theft cuz I didn't steal. I get that. that I have to take accountability for. >> On the 7th of March 2023, police received a call from JW Marriott regarding a theft that occurred at their jewelry store. Investigate what happened through surveillance footage and the statement of the store employee. >> All right, this is the theft. You're going to see this is the associate here. Here's the suspect offender. She comes up, she opens the cabinet. associate will facilitate dawning the item and then she never takes it off. Th this associate is just I guess not very bright in her duties and facilitating her duties, but she gets distracted and >> she gets on her phone, she talks. There's some engagement with these two individuals, but the item never gets put back in. Now, in a moment, she'll dawn and daff a a necklace that she puts back, but the bracelet never gets put back. And then she leaves with the cabinet still open. Now, you know, again, not very bright on this retail employee here. I mean, it's clearly not, but she put the item on. You can see and never return the item. >> No. And just left it. You can see it on the right wrist. >> Are you able to rewind it and get a still picture of her? >> I got a picture of her right here. My phone. I can um text it to you. Here's a picture of the item. That's the actual what it looks like. >> And it's a bracelet. It's got, but that's the other one that's in there. >> The employee clearly showed that he closely examined the suspect, going even further as he raised several notable suspicions. >> I can surmise or deduct in watching those observations of the tape there's some type of relationship between this associate and they know each other in some manner. There's another video I got on file that shows them communicating in another kiosk, very engaged. You know, it seems very personal. It doesn't seem like there would be somebody like us just needing >> you know so but again and they're very limited in that scope of what they're receptive to here but but the items u retail value is 1,300 um like I said generally with you guys and we I have one of these done they submit a email and they ask for the clip I download it and send it. Yeah, we'll be sending you a link. >> Yeah, >> that way you can upload that. >> All righty. >> Thanks, guys. I'll walk you guys back out. >> After this investigation, the suspect's image appeared in multiple news articles, which led her to turn herself in a few weeks later. Let's see what she said. >> Robinson, hey, how you doing? >> Okay. Um, as we spoke, Good morning, how are you? So, we spoke on the phone. We um you know what this is about the bracelet? >> Um Okay. Um do you have Did you say you going to bring the bracelet with you? >> Yeah, I got the bracelet with me. >> You just sit it sit it right there on that paperwork. Okay. Um as you know, you're going to have to be arrested for this. >> Okay. Um, >> I I understand I'm going have to be arrested. >> It's just I don't want like to be arrested for theft cuz I didn't steal. I get that I have to take accountability for, >> you know, taking the bracelet after she she put it on her arm. You know what I mean? >> And and that's and >> the woman claimed the fault lay with the employee who put the bracelet on her wrist rather than with her, forcing the officers to explain the situation. >> That's just I mean that's what the charge is is is death by shoplifting. So I mean that's just by the code section by the the law that's that's what it what happened is defined as that that that's what it because it's from a business it it's shoplifting instead of you know ordinary theft or whatever. So with all that being said I have to if I if I want to ask you anything about specifically about the incident I have to read your constitute your rights. Okay. Having these rights in mind are you willing to speak with me now? >> Yes. Tell me tell me what you would like to tell me about this. >> Okay. So, the day on my birthday, the incident did not happen on 37. It happened on 3:5. >> Right. >> Okay. That that night I was out with on my birthday with my family. I walk inside the museum cuz I had my two nieces with me. I wanted to show the museum cuz I just been out there the day before with my my sister-in-law. She took her grandchild. So, I thought it was nice. I went out there. We had dinner. We supposed to have dinner at 7:30 at Phillips. We walk in. I didn't even know she worked there. No, none of that. I just walked in. We start walking around looking around like the little dinosaur that was in the air, all of that. And then when she spotted me, she was like, "Hey, cousin." So I was like, "Hey girl." She gave me a hug. I got video of that where she gave me a hug and all of that. And then all of a sudden she was like, "Well, come on. Let me show." She was like, "Let me show you something." And I was like, "Okay, come on." We went in there. I told her it was my birthday. She's like, "Yeah, I saw it. It was on your post." So she was like, and I was like, "Um, okay then." You know, we were standing there and I was like, "Well, these rooms is nice." I was like, "Boy, I probably going to need me a discount cuz you know I store I need a discount." And she's like, "Come on, I got you. I got you. I got you." But at that time, we was talking about the rooms because she was telling me the room the hotel rooms. >> Yeah. Cuz she was telling me the rooms are $600 a night. And she's like, "I got you." >> I'm kidding. She was like, "It was $600 a night." For real. I got it on like >> No, I don't doubt it. I just >> Yeah. She said it was $600 a night. And I was like, >> it was strange that she kept the bracelet for an entire week without returning it, then spun a convoluted story about the employee. So, what did you think about the employees actions based on the suspect's continued account? But when she saw me, you know, then she saw my husband, she was like, "Hey, cousin, you know that." So, we walk in there, we walk in, we walk in the store, she took the bracelet down, she took it when she took it off the thing, she was like, "Here, try this on." She actually put it on my arm. She put it on my arm. She pulled my sleeve down. It was two white guys that came up beside of us. the two white guys that came up beside of us, we was bidding on like it was another necklace she pulled down and she was like, "How much y'all think this is?" And I was like, "Well, let's have a bidding contest." You know, it's two white guys. And um she was like um and I say, "I think it's like um $2,200." He was he was like $1,300 or something. It was like a little bid or whatever. But she put the necklace back. Then she took the choker down and she had the choke in her hand at the same time cuz she had she wanted me to try the choker on. I was like, "No, I don't try." I said, "I don't weigh chokers. I choke out." this. No, this is exactly what I said. I was like, I choked out this. She's like, "Oh, me too." At the same time, why these other two guys was trying to look in that jewelry, the jewelry, the necklace that he bought, I actually got him to buy that necklace that night. And that necklace was $1,300. So, I helped her sell a jewelry that was there. But the choker she >> Yeah, I got it. Okay. >> So, she um and then she gave me the choker. I put it on my neck. I didn't even know how to clamp it. So, all I did was put the choker around my neck. I started dancing in the mirror like this and then I was like, "Oh no, I don't like this. I don't wear chokers." I gave it back to her. I was like, "I choke." I gave it back to her. Then my niece came in and I hugged my niece and at the same time all this going on, I got I got I got the bracelet on now. >> Mhm. >> At the same time all this going on, there's no way that she don't know that I got that bracelet. She put it on and clamp it. When she put the choke on me, I didn't even know how to snap it or none of that. So, I had to hold it, >> you know. And then at the same time, my sister was in there and she was videoing it the whole time. And I was like, "Oh, this is cute on me." And she was like, "Yeah, but it look better on me." So, I just gave her back the choker and I just walked out the store and and literally I sat I sat there and talked to her 30 to 35 minutes after that. >> The story did not even stop there as she added details about a close friend noticing her in news articles and messages. Yet, everything still seemed highly questionable. >> I texted, "Hey cousin, what's up?" That's what I said. She never replied, no, none of that. When I got the picture of me being on the news, that's when I called her and I was like, "Hey, what's going on? Why my face on the news?" And she was like, "I don't know why your face on I" I was like, "My face on the news for that bracelet you put on my arm." Da da da. She was like, "Um, I ain't put no bracelet on your arm." And then she hang up in my face and went and blocked me on everything. She told me, she was like, "I don't know what you talking about. I don't even know who you is." Da da da. She was like, "I ain't never put nothing on y'all." She just denied everything. Yeah. >> And so I had my staff right there cuz I had on speaker phone and they was like, "You should have recorded." And I was like, it didn't dawn on me. I'm upset. My trend is rushing. >> Sure. >> So, she just blocked me on everything. >> Okay. Do you have any text messages on your phone about this as far as like what she said, what she didn't say, anything like that? >> Yeah. >> So, she un sent them the day that I called her. >> Mhm. >> She went and deleted, but she sent me this on March the 20th. I text her 2 days later and say, "Hey, fam. What's up?" Cuz she had text me earlier that day, two two days before then, and say, "Hey, fam. I need to talk to you. My job is in jeopardy. >> Okay. Um, that's pretty much all I need from you. I will say this. I I know you don't want to go to jail, but I don't have a choice. >> I know. >> I I I mean, it is what it is. I mean, the >> the the business is absolutely going to prosecute this. I mean, they are not It is their properties. When it's when it's property crimes is up to the victim, right? You know, I don't know, but I don't anticipate him denying your bond based on the fact you don't have a history and the fact you brought this stuff back and you turned yourself in and all that stuff. They would probably grant you a bond based on >> I won't be able to see nobody today. >> So, did you wonder why the employee faced no consequences despite the bracelet going missing, prompting officers to later approach her to clarify the matter? >> Okay, sir. So, um, first it was on a Sunday, I believe, >> and I was, um, working by myself. Miss Teresa, um, came in, um, like it was, well, a lot of people came in, but she came in and she, um, we, it's our protocol to have to let, you know, people try on jewelry. Mhm. >> And so, um, I, um, was just like I tell everybody like, "Okay, this is Saraski, you know, and, um, you know, here's a, you know, try you can try it on or whatever." And so, um, after that, um, they left and then they came back. Um and then uh when I noticed that the bracelet was missing cuz I thought that my coworker sold it like after the like way after >> um then when I called her and I as I said hey Jasmine did you sell the bracelet? She was like no cuz that's a good thing like if you sell the high amount. >> Sure. >> Um and so I went I looked for it um down in the space and it wasn't there and I was like who sold the bracelet? Like good good job. Congratulations. You >> right. >> And then when that's when I notified my director that it was missing. >> Let me ask you this. From the time that she left the store or the hotel or whatever. >> Mhm. >> How long was it from the time she left before you noticed it was missing? >> I didn't notice it right then. >> I mean just about how long the time the >> No, no. Like was it >> it was >> Did you notice it missing like a couple of days later? >> A couple days later. >> Okay. >> A couple days later. >> Okay. So she left with the bracelet. >> Then they came back >> the same day. >> Yeah, they came back. Yes, sir. >> Okay. Cuz you you know you put you put it on or you like helped her try it on and stuff. So when she left with it, how did you just did you just forget she had it on or >> Yes, I did. >> Okay. >> I did. >> All right. Y'all are cousins from what I understand, right? >> Well, she's not my blood cousin. >> In the end, the suspects was charged with retail theft. Did you think this situation was a mistake or intentional? And did you believe the employee should have been allowed to keep working? Leave a comment. Next, the woman delusionally imagined herself as Elsa, singing, "Let me go. >> Let me go. Let me go. >> Stop. >> Let me go. Let me go. >> Stop. >> Let me go. Take your ass back to home. You're not a cop. >> Real cops are watching me right now. >> I'm a real cop." >> On September 10th, 2024, police stopped a woman for allegedly stealing several items from Walgreens. From the very first moments of contact, the woman showed clear irritation and refused to cooperate. >> You're not a cop. Do not put your hand on me. Do not put your hand on me. >> Stop. >> Stop. >> Don't put your hands on me. Let go. >> Let me go. Let me go. >> Stop. >> Let me go. Let me go. >> Stop. >> Let me go. >> I will let you go. >> Listen and comply. Before I make a big deal out of this, let me go. Let me go because you're not a cop. >> Okay, that's >> You're not a real cop. So, let me go. >> Do you have an ID? >> Oh, you had my ID already. >> I do not have phoned it already. >> You have >> Let me go because my hand is already hurt. You guys need my thing. >> Stop. >> Let me go then. Stop. Let me go. >> I'm not because you continue to walk away from it. >> Let me go. >> Stop. You're putting your hands on me for >> I am putting you on your hands. My I am putting my hands in your bag. >> You know what? >> I'm going to call a lawyer for this. >> That's fine. I want you to be >> for what? >> Because you were in Walgreens steak and stuff. So, >> it's none of your business. >> It is our business. >> No, it's not. And I'm not on Wald's property right now. You cannot touch me right now. You have to do you know how many people are watching you. I don't care. You know how many cameras are watching you? Do you listen? You serious? Can you listen? >> You're not a real cop. >> Okay. >> You're not a real cop. >> Listen, you're going to go from probably just giving them their stuff back to going to jail. >> I'm proud to say that you're not a cop. >> Okay. >> The woman resisted by deliluding herself into believing she was right, even claiming that the police were not real. She even believed she could judge the officer's actions in an irrational way. >> Let me go because this is the biggest mistake you're going to make of your life. The timing is on, guys. timing is gone. >> So you guys, you know why? Because every you know, so you're wasting your time. >> You're wasting your time because this is special. >> Let me go. Let me go. Let me go because my bed. >> Let me go. Get your hand off of me right now. You're the biggest mistake you're going to make of your life. That's timing on the timing on your hands off. Get your hands off the pain. >> Get your hands off of me. Get your hands off of me. >> All right. Now, relax. Relax. >> Now you're being recorded. >> Okay. You are being recorded by us as well. Okay. You're not a real cop. Are youing kidding me? >> You're aing joke. You know that. >> Relax. >> You're not a real cop. >> Take your ass back to hometown cuz you're not a cop. >> Real cops are watching it right now. >> I'm a real cop. >> The woman blurted out everything she was thinking uncontrollably. And at that moment, she had already partially admitted to her actions. >> What's going to happen? Why you should >> you know why? Oh, because you took the money out of my link card. That's why I have to steal. Because you took the money out of my link card. You know why? Because you me everying time I go to the store and get something and buy something. You take the money out of my link. Because you can. You know why? Because you everybody in the store that owns it. You know why? Because you think you want to own the store. >> She's got a hospital. Yes, I do. And everybody knows where I am at and what I'm doing. And everybody is watching right now. The wholeing world is watching me. >> Did you see your own sister? >> She was crossing. >> Okay. Cuz I I I drove by to turn in and I saw your lights. >> So, you know, right? Yeah. I saw your turn around and I saw I'm like, "Okay." >> I'm not on this property anymore. You >> It doesn't It does. >> Yes, it does matter. It does matter. >> It matters when I'm in the store, not when I'm out here. Yeah, we got to leave this for final sale point of purchase. >> I'm at the bus stop already. Okay, you cannot touch me. >> Her argument was that she was no longer in the Walgreens area, so they couldn't arrest her. But despite her confusion, police quickly recovered the allegedly stolen merchandise. >> Tell me, you guys tell me. Tell me it's like >> food. Food is not a reason to arrest somebody. Arizona. >> Yeah, I drink them obviously. >> Yeah, I'll bring this stuff. >> I can I can I can drink that from anywhere else. It doesn't matter. I just If you think that it's not because I can get it from anywhere else or I can drink water from a home from anywhere else. Yeah, only the game. My mother does. >> Okay. Well, then your mom would go to court and dismiss the charges. Okay. >> Oh, she would. But you guys everybody in the court system, remember? >> No. >> Oh, your hand is shaking. So, you're guilty. >> Your hand is shaking. And I'm shaking because you got your demons. You take medication for anything? >> No, I don't. I don't need to. >> Sure. >> You guys do. >> The woman showed no sense of guilt, even attempting to plead for leniency. Yet, the reasons she offered for her plea seemed far from credible. And >> and and the and the public aid office too knows why. Because everybody that's supposed to work there is is like just like the people in the court system, just like the county, just like the hospital, just like the just like the doctors, just like the nurses, the ones that you guys don't want to take the pain for. You remember how much pain you're going to be in in your head once I make that happen. So, please let me go and let me go about my day and give you my bag. The thing that keeps going through my head right now is that so in your head in your head >> is that I'm sober and that I don't give a about what what's going to happen from this point on because I'm sober. >> Are you sure you don't take medication for? >> Please take you want to take this. >> I'm very happy that you are sober. >> Question, >> but I know you're not going to take the right deal. >> What did you use to use? >> You're going to take me to hometown because that's the place where you guys belong. >> What did you used to use before you? Was it alcohol or anything like that? >> I'm sober. I don't take You've always been sober. >> Oh, look. Somebody came out of your room because I don't take drugs, honey. >> So, so you've always been sober. >> Yes. >> I don't I don't smoke. I don't smoke. I hate smoking. I hate smokers. >> I I hate smoking, too. It's disgusting. Stinks. >> Makes people breath stinks. Makes your clothes stink. >> People's hands people hands stink. Like if you shake their hands and they smoker, then your hand smells like smoke. It's It's terrible. >> 352. >> In the end, she was charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, and hindering law enforcement. Refusing to take responsibility only worsens the outcome denial, and excuses turn minor offenses into serious legal trouble. What do you think about cases like this? Next, the woman completely exposed herself as a failure through the collapsing story she told. >> They took large TV, large items. >> Okay. You don't remember the name of the street that she lives in? >> I'm not I don't remember. I'm sorry. Google Maps took me there. So, was it? >> On October 16th, 2023, police responded to a report of a suspicious check cashing attempt. And upon contact, the woman provided multiple statements filled with inconsistencies and doubt. >> Do you mind? Do you mind? >> Okay. Do you mind just step turning off your car real quick? >> Five of those suspects over Tom. >> Were Were you trying to cash a check? >> Oh, yeah. >> Did you get your check? >> No, she they they have it. >> They have it and you just left. >> Yeah, I just just left. >> You just you didn't ask for the check back. You >> No, no, no. He told me that he's going to go ahead and give Mary a call because um they're going to hold on to it. >> Okay. Why? >> That's what he told me. >> Who's Mary? >> Mary was the girl that paid me for working. >> Okay. Where does she where do you work for? >> Um just I did her was working on her yard. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> So I'mma read you something. Okay. You are being detained right now. >> Why? What happened? >> So I'm I'm going to read you something right now. >> You have the right to remain telling any question. Do you understand? Um >> I don't understand why I'm being arrested. >> You're you're not being arrested right now. You're being detained. So, the call that we got was that somebody was cashing a stolen check. >> The lady paid me. I >> Where is that? Where do you work? Where's that lady working? >> Um, I mean, it's her address. It's her home. >> At her home? >> Yeah. >> What do you do for her? >> I was just helping you clean the yard and throw some trash from her. >> Where is that address at? >> Um, I don't know off by heart, but I have it at my house right now. >> You have it at your house? Her statements shifted repeatedly, almost unconsciously, making the situation increasingly suspicious. Shortly afterward, police managed to contact the person who was believed to have hired her for the cleanup work. >> And Mary, I have a officer, I'm sorry, deputy officer. >> Um, Lindstro here with us right now from Police Department. Um, >> not nobody. Nobody. Not at all. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Not anyone. Nothing. >> You guys have a chick? All the checks were stolen from your home. >> Yeah, there was a break in here. >> Okay. >> The night that I found out of the night sheriff came out, but there wasn't a whole lot they could do. Yeah. >> Okay. So, about three days ago. I mean it was probably before Thursday. I think it might have been ongoing where there were multiple attempts to get in the house. >> Okay. >> They took many many things of value TVs, wedding rings. They also took um sorry to be so emotional, but they took my son's ashes. My son passed away last year. >> Oh wow. >> And they took the the container with the ashes. Thus, the situation became far more serious while the suspect still did not realize it and continued to lie to the officer beside her. >> So, if we were to call Mary, she's going to tell us, did she know your name? >> Yes. Oh, yeah. I worked for her. >> Okay. She's going to tell us that you worked for her and those checks were signed off by her or that check was signed off by her. >> Um, well, I mean, as far as I know, Yeah. >> Did she do it in front of you or did she? >> Um, no. I actually met her and she she picked up the check. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, like I said, if she if we contact her, she's going to tell us she gave that check to you. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Let me see. You did not write any check to Driana. >> No, >> that does that name doesn't ring a bell at all. >> No, not at all. Okay. >> We haven't I haven't written a check in a long long time. >> All right. >> Years. I don't know. >> Okay. So, Nor has my husband. >> We have that person detained right now. >> Um >> Okay. >> I assume you would like charges on her. >> Yes. Uhhuh. >> Okay. >> Um yes, most definitely. Um I thought it was a male. So this is a female now. >> Yeah. So honestly, when people burglarize houses, they go and they sell this stuff. They fence it. They sell it for fentanyl. They exchange it for fentanyl. This stuff may have already been through three or four different hands. So, realistically, the girl that has your checks probably didn't burglarize your house. Just being straight up, if that makes sense. Yeah. >> And I would think that they wouldn't be that stupid. >> Right. >> At this point, the officer confronted the woman directly with the information he had obtained and addressed the issue head on. Watch how she reacted. >> This is Mary. >> No. >> No. >> No. No. >> What does she look like? >> She She's looks younger than that. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Um, so Mary was the victim of a burglary last Thursday where a ton of people took her checks. >> Oh, wow. Isn't >> that weird? Now you have one of her stolen checks on you and she did not authorize nor has she ever heard of you in your life. >> Yeah. No, some lady I mean I help I helped clean out this house and she has >> So the more the more cooperative you are, >> the easier this usually goes. Yeah, >> guys, I just spoke with Mary for 10 minutes. Her house got burglarized. >> She's never heard of you in her life. >> I see this lady. I helped clean out the garage to throw some trash. She does not look like that. She's a lot younger. >> And she gave you $683. >> Yeah, that's what she paid me. Well, she had to reimburse me for the trash when I went to the dump to throw the loads. And I took about four or five loads. It was supposed to be for three, but I >> How do you How do you say your name? >> It was supposed to be for three. My name Yeah. >> Deanna. >> Deanna. Okay. Debria. >> So you you have to know that if we go to the dump, they have video. >> Yeah. >> So we also obviously we're going to go have to talk to her. >> We already have our statement saying that >> she doesn't know who you are. >> I don't know who she is either. That wasn't >> you know you know when she does a claim that her checks are being stolen, every single check is numbered. >> Yeah. That wasn't her. That lady that she showed me, that was not the lady that paid me. >> The woman desperately clung to her lies in vain. Even so, police still gave her a chance to verify the phone number only for the result to prove equally disappointing. >> What's her name? >> Well, she said Mary. That's what she call me. >> So, if I call her right now the other person. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I can't >> call her. Come on. >> Let me see the phone number. Hope you just help. >> Why does that say Chewy? >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> No, that was that's her number. >> It literally said Chewy right there. >> That's what I put her under. >> You put her under Chewy. You known her for a week. >> Not like a week. Yeah. >> Her name is Chewy. >> I couldn't remember her name. That's why >> you just told us you you gave us >> I know her name, but I couldn't remember her name when I when I first put it in there. >> So I I I don't believe you know this. >> No, I some >> I've been doing this for 9 years and this is probably the worst story I've ever heard about. >> I'm telling you the truth. I'm so I'm >> the person you barely knew and you did yard work for is nicknamed Chewy in your phone. >> No, I couldn't remember her name when I first >> seems like more of a plug for >> when I first No way. I do not >> or just somebody that you know that's going to cover your story. I don't do not do drugs. >> Well, you have a stolen check for a felony amount. You can't tell us who you got this check from. >> I will take you to the house. >> We're not going to That's >> But I know I'm saying. >> So maybe in the next >> the lady that gave it to me. >> Immediately afterward, police conducted a search of her car and it appeared that no further investigation was necessary once they saw what was inside. There any fake checks in your purse? >> No, >> that's a lot of clothes in the concrete. >> See, checks are a little bit more >> to hide. But >> no, I I mean, I'll do I'll take you to her house. >> All right, Debbiana. So, I'm not going to arrest you today. Physically arrest you. You will be receiving the summons, which is >> you're going to have to show up to court. >> Of course, >> if you can pull get all your evidence saying that you I don't know who's going to take the fall for you. >> No, I'll give the receipts and everything. >> Yeah, you I mean, not the receipts. I just want the person that gave you that check if that's true. >> Yes, I'll give I'll give you, sir. I mean, I'll give her two days cuz that's not right. Sorry. You say you're going to go file this report with APD, but you're going to have to get all that evidence cuz you're all you will be receiving a summon for this. Okay, >> you got it. >> Yeah, I put the 49 in your car. >> That's a good phone number for you. >> Finally, the woman was charged with receiving stolen property over $500. Lies and excuses only deepen suspicion. Once evidence speaks, every false move brings harsher consequences. >> This is the same clothes he was wearing just >> just now. Yeah. Okay. Even if I could walk from here back to the terminal, then I will definitely be getting an attorney and this will be considered a hate crime for me being over here. >> On May 6th, 2023, police received a call from a rental car center reporting a man who attempted to steal a vehicle at the location. According to employees, the suspect even appeared to be quite familiar to them. >> I I know him long time, the guy. >> Uh-huh. >> He stole car from me downstairs before I got a picture for him. >> Uh-huh. And then he he come in, hit the he car, he take look like his customer, he put the luggage, he want take the car >> really. >> And then when I told him I called the police, he keep quiet. He don't say nothing. Go straight to the bus. Terminal C. He go to terminal C. >> What was he wearing? >> He got look like this color shirt. >> Uh-huh. >> Jeans. Got a backpack. Silver and case suit. >> Looks like a surfer. >> Silver. >> Oh, a server. Okay. Interesting. >> Backpack. And uh you got a luggage bag. >> A luggage bag. Black. >> Uh-huh. >> And he he So does he just wander up here? >> He the guy they clean the car. He said they call me. He said what happened? The guy just jumped the car and go. I go. I told you I know him. He stolen car from me 100%. This guy. This same clothes here that >> this is the same clothes he was wearing. >> Just take >> just now. Yeah. Okay. Shortly afterward, a photo of the man was sent to other officers, allowing them to easily locate him within the airport. Pull >> over here. What's up? Was you just out at the rental car? >> No. >> Yeah. Yeah, you was. What's going on here? >> What's the problem? >> Well, the problem is you got in a rental car when you didn't rent one. >> That's you right there. That's you, right? >> Okay. I'm telling you what the problem is. The problem is you got in a vehicle that you didn't rent. So, we want to know why were you in that vehicle? Huh? >> Cuz I was checking it out to see if maybe I wanted to rent it before I rent it. >> Well, you need to go and talk to them before you check it out. Are you traveling today or what are you doing? You got some idea? >> I'm I'm going back home, man. I need to wait. Go back home. >> I'm just asking you a question. Why was you in the car if you hadn't rent it? You talking about you checking it out, but you got to you can't just go get in the car and uh don't let nobody know. So you still that so that's that's what you were saying that uh you was thinking about renting a car. >> Yeah, I just was sitting inside it seeing if there's something that I would want. That's all. >> But you can't do that. >> But before you >> What do you mean I can't do >> you can't you got to talk to them. You can't just go into the rental car facility and go get in the car and decide if you want it or not. That ain't the way it works. And I'm pretty sure you already know that. Did you take off in the car? Did you drive? >> Absolutely not. I've I've already had that issue with you all once before. I would never do that again. Never. Where are you both traveling to right now? Where you both be traveling to? >> Is there any way we can all talk somewhere privately? All of us? Nobody know what we talking about? >> The man attempted to justify his theft and his statements gradually became increasingly suspicious. >> I travel back and forth from left field to this airport fairly often. >> All right. And I'm trying to work on some things in regards to gas speculation, being around people who use gas or pump gas. They know the meaning of getting gas from Saudi Arabia, different places and the price of that. And in doing that, part of that requires me to just check it out. And I'm not doing it. I'm not doing anything illegal while I'm here. So, how may I come to DFW in a way that's more respectful? You suggest speak to somebody and then have them go with me to see the car? Yeah, that's the way it normally works. I mean, you can't if you if you haven't rented the car, if you haven't rented the car, you can't just go out there, get in the car, and decide, well, hey, I want to look at it. >> All you got to do is talk to someone at the front desk. They can get a tendant to walk out there with you. You look at the car, check it out. If that's the one you want, the type of car you want to rent. But you can't just go out there and get in the car and and decide, well, hey, uh, I don't want this one. Cuz from their standpoint, somebody trying to steal the car cuz we we do have that happen. >> So, I'm saying that's from their standpoint. I didn't say you was trying to steal the car, but you didn't let nobody know what you doing. So, that's why we at this point where we at now, cuz they thought you might be trying to steal the car. Absolutely not. >> Well, okay. when they approach you, tell them say, "Hey, I just want to take the car out." >> Yes. And he approached me very aggressively >> because they probably like he was ready to hit me or something. >> You wanted like he was pissed off at me for some reason. >> Well, we we have people come up there and try to steal the car. But what I'm saying, did you even elaborate that with him and say, "Hey, >> I wanted to check the car out. >> That's all I told him." When every excuse he offered collapsed under police scrutiny, the man suddenly began invoking his civil rights as if they were arguments he had only just thought of on the spot. >> There's certain things that Chrysler, Dodge, Corporation can send you here as a citizen, American civilian to magnify the quality of their vehicles. >> Well, go to the dealership. >> It doesn't mean [ __ ] to anybody that has a hasn't ever owned a car place or a dealership. >> But I'm saying you need to go to the dealership >> because we're broke and we own Asian country. This is what I'm saying. This what I'm saying. It's a meaningless task. >> Listen, listen, listen to me. If you want to check a vehicle out, you need to go to the dealership. >> So, what was you coming up to terminal C for? >> I thought he went to A also, but I guess he didn't. >> Who who went to A? >> The driver cuz the rest of us goes to CNA. >> Well, I mean, you have to get on the right one. >> Yeah. >> So, what you going to A for >> to get back on the train? Go back home. >> So, you weren't coming out here to travel. You got a suitcase, backpack. >> I was thinking about maybe getting in a car and going somewhere different with a family member, but that's not happening. So, it's not >> I mean, you didn't go in there to talk to him about renting a car, right? >> Why would I even pay money for a car to rent if I don't even know what what it is first? >> Is it that isn't that wrong of me to see what I'm going to rent before I rent it? >> I mean, what did I tell you you need to do? >> You need to go up to the agent, talk to them and ask them, hey, can I take a look? They'll send somebody out there with you to look at that car. >> I can respect. >> Or you can ask them, hey, what kind of cars do you have to rent? >> Okay. And that's how he did. He was I sit in the car. >> Well, from what he told me, so he started the car. So, hey, that's >> Police confronted the man's story directly, and this was what ultimately became their decision. >> So, what is it, Mr. Shake? >> Shake. Shake. So, this this is where we at right here. >> Uh, your your story look different from what we've been told that you you know, you put your stuff in the vehicle, cranked up the vehicle, and then that's when they approach you. So, as our standpoint, that's like basically trying to steal a vehicle, burglar a vehicle. >> That would not ever be the case because I've already been here before for that exact same thing. >> Well, cuz you weren't even in the location where you supposed to rent a vehicle. >> Yeah, that's on the first floor. >> Okay. You weren't even there. You was at the port >> on the second floor. Correct. >> All right. So, what I need you to do, go ahead and put your phone down and your backpack and turn around. Put your hand behind your back. be arrested for you be arrested. >> Put yourself down. Motor vehicle criminal intent. >> Take your back off. >> Burglary motor vehicle. Really? >> Take your back off. >> Wow. >> Turn around and face this way. Take your bag all the way off. Put your hands behind your back. Okay. Go to the front of this car right here. >> Can we just go back there and view the footage together? >> My stuff back. Shortly afterward, police checked the man's identity and belongings, and it appeared that several unexpected truths were uncovered. >> They say he got eight had eight charges and well, cuz we have keys right here that says, you know, it said prevent theft, remove valuables from rental car and log doors. It's a 2023 Dodge Charger. Then just say, Texas. There's a there's a QR code. I'm going to try to scan that and see where that comes back. >> It just keeps getting better and better. What did they say? >> Criminal trespass at A and then there's another report that we had on him and there's >> a followup. >> I don't know what uh so he's got a zippo. So just leave it >> right there. I'll just let the jail know that there's more. >> Yeah. >> Where's all my belongings? >> They're in the back of my car. >> Bring them in. >> I'm sorry. >> Why didn't you bring mine in? >> Because I had to bring you in first. >> Okay. Your stuff will be brought in once you get secured in the cell. What's that? Your stuff will be brought in when you get secured in the cell. >> I cannot believe you guys have zero respect for me. >> How do we not have zero respect for you? You committed an offense. >> No, I did not. >> Not once, but twice. >> You should know who I am. Two years ago. >> You should know who I am and what I'm doing here. >> Two years ago. But obviously, you guys got some other thing going for. >> Two years ago, you committed the same offense. >> No, I did not. >> Okay. Go ahead and sign on this black and yellow line. Spread your key one more time. We are in search you one more time. >> That's why I'm in handcuffs. That's where I'm getting stolen from. I feel like >> No, you're being handcuffed because you tried to rob a ve you try to steal a vehicle from the rental car center like you did 2 years ago. >> Sir, I'm not a car thief. >> Okay. All right, that's fine. Well, you can believe that. >> I heard that. >> Okay. Well, your criminal history statement shows differently. >> My criminal history? >> Yep. Because if I don't get released in 6 hours from now with all my stuff, even if I have to walk from here back to the terminal, then I will definitely be getting an attorney and this will be considered a hate crime for me being over here. >> The suspect was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and theft of property valued between $30,000 and $150,000.
