There was already video evidence capturing what happened, >> but I don't see the stuff she had in this pocket. >> I don't Maybe tell >> she seems a little erratic, huh? >> I just saw the video right now. >> Show it to me. It's called discovery. You can find You can see it in court. >> I did not take anything. >> But these shoplifterss called the officers attempts to stop them harassment. >> Witness you conceal an item and place an item in your pocket. So that's what we're dealing with right now. >> This is like harassment. Tell him. >> I didn't conceal it. >> You saw me conceal it. >> Yes, ma'am. It's on video again every day in court. >> And what consequences will these shoplifterss ultimately face? Find out in today's video. This woman has no idea her entire Walmart shoplifting trip is on camera. Starting with a woman who thought being caught meant she was being harassed. Have >> you ever been arrested? >> Yes. When was the last time you were arrested? >> On the 21st of December 2024, police stopped a woman as she was trying to leave Walmart after allegedly concealing merchandise while shopping to avoid paying for it. Here's what happened next. >> Oh, excuse me, ma'am. >> Can you stop for me? No, I don't have anything. >> Okay, hold on. We >> It's right there in your pocket. >> What's going on? >> Items you can feel over there and be up there. >> Okay. What do you have in your pocket? >> Nothing. >> Okay. Can we go ahead and talk inside real quick? >> No. Why? >> Well, you're being detained for shoplifting right now. >> But I'm not shoplifting. >> Okay. Well, loss prevention witnessed you conceal an item and place an item in your pocket. So, that's what we're dealing with right now. This is like >> uh come right over here, ma'am. You can come right over here. Let me have you speak with this officer right here. >> What is it that she could see? >> Uh portable charger from electronics. And then she also had a pair of light. >> Okay. And you said it's in her >> in their pocket right here. >> You can see it right there in a second. Okay. Um, would you mind getting us a receipt for that? >> Yeah, remove it. >> Thank you. >> The employee seemed quite certain about her alleged shoplifting, and the suspect then had to pull the matching items from her pocket. >> Can you show me one at 1420? >> What's in the other pocket? >> And they also say some lighters. Did you conceal some lighters in your pockets? >> You just said you took a lighter. What's in what's in the spot over here? >> Some sticking out there now. >> Your pants as well. >> Can I just go, please? I get back to you guys. We'll get past that. Come on. Let's go. I'm sorry. >> No good. >> What else you guys got? >> Thank you. Sorry. >> She showed no shame at all. Even more surprisingly, the woman identified as Marcus was confirmed to have done this before. Have you ever been arrested? >> Yes. >> When was the last time you were arrested? >> Um, a few months ago for consoling my identity. If I had a warrant and didn't have a warrant. >> You're going to have warrants for that. So now I know you already do have a warrant. We're not going to find anything on your person that's going to get you more trouble. receipt paper. >> What? >> Oh, okay. >> So, you didn't pay for the straws. I forgot how >> if I didn't have a warrant, you guys wouldn't take me everywhere. >> Technically, I can take you to jail regardless. We were going to have that conversation, but you stand up for me. Okay. >> More unpaid items were found on her, as if taking merchandise had become a habit she no longer remembered, even when some were things she genuinely needed. The officer then handcuffed her. >> Can I hit my leaf one more time? You guys didn't throw it. >> Okay. Well, city ordinance prevents that. >> Hey, don't resist this. You're just going to have to Okay. >> Why charge now? You don't need to add to >> that. Once again, man, is there anything that your person? No, I just want to have my [ __ ] bank one more time. >> The woman was arrested for suspected shoplifting, but the actual charges were not confirmed. If charged under New Mexico's shoplifting statute, she could face up to 6 months in jail and a $500 fine if the merchandise was worth $250 or less. If the value exceeded $500, the offense could become a fourthderee felony carrying a basic sentence of up to 18 months and a fine of up to $5,000. Denying the theft becomes harder when unpaid merchandise is found on you. Being honest and cooperative can help prevent a simple situation from becoming more complicated. Next, this woman was putting herself at risk of a felony charge. >> You mind if I search it? >> Yeah, I do because I'm sorry everything had a bad warning. You guys have been harassing me. You guys have been bothering me. I haven't done anything. >> On the 21st of January, 2025, police were dispatched to the loss prevention office after receiving a report that a woman had been caught shoplifting there. Here's what happened next. >> This man, brother, >> you got this female. Uh, it's her. She's in the bathroom right now. Okay. >> She selected and concealed clothing in her waistband. So, we think she's in the restroom right now putting the clothes on. James has a pull back. Okay, >> I got her. >> She put them in the back first. What? >> No, she put them in her waist. >> I'm sorry. How long could she go to the bathroom? >> It's been like what? 5 minutes now. >> 5 minutes. >> You guys have caught her before? >> Yeah, that's her. >> She's been trespasser. >> No, we gave her a break. So, this time we went for some trespass and then it has her driver's license there, too. >> Where'd she take last time? You didn't see that? Uh, she took last time. >> How long ago was that? >> This was in July last year. No, that that was a pink anchor trip. She had that already. Yeah, that's yours. But I don't see the stuff she had in this pocket. >> Yeah. >> I don't Maybe her channel. >> She seems a little erratic. She She's kind of like droning off. >> I have not seen her at one time. >> I didn't think it was her first thing. I'm guessing she walked she's going out different. Somebody go in the restroom and check see if there's any packaging on the floor or the trash can. >> She's already screaming. >> Based on the hard to deny evidence, employees quickly confirmed that the woman, Brenda Torres, had a history of similar behavior before. So with experience in this kind of situation, she immediately had a few tricks ready when she was approached. >> I left. But >> I saw you go in the bathroom. >> I But I showed the I showed the gentleman. I told the customer service guy. get all to the office. >> Okay. Okay. I have nothing. That's why >> I don't have We have nothing in my stuff. I don't I left the socks and everything over there. >> My person. There's all my stuff there. I think it's >> Well, we appreciate you giving us consent to search. Um, you know, you cooperate with us. This the best. >> The buggy's right there with the electronic items and the socks. >> Okay. My partner will conduct his investigation. So, all right. Now, >> I'm just having a bad morning. >> So, like have your permission to search your >> I just showed you everything. >> I showed you everything. There's nothing in here. Look. See? Nothing. Nothing. Yeah. >> Do you mind if I search it? >> Yeah, I do because I'm showing you everything. Had a bad morning. >> Can you show it? Can you put your back on the back? >> No, I don't want to be harassed. >> She portrayed herself as the victim while distracting from the investigation and clutching her purse, raising suspicion that she was hiding something inside. Let's see how she responded when police told her about the camera footage. >> They have video which I've already viewed with them. >> I put one in my pocket and hung it back. >> Two pairs of air. >> Okay. In the state of New Mexico, concealing any merchandise is considered shoplifting. You are on video concealing merchandise. Okay, that's why we came Hold on. That's why we came into contact with you. They also watched you select other items. So, just to clarify, that's why we're here. What items have I said? >> I'm just I'm giving you description of why you're being contacted. Okay? That's why we're talking to you. We're not harassing you. You were stopped for a lawful reason. >> Okay? I'm just trying to clarify things for you. Ma'am, uh we saw you on video uh uh take the manscape kit and and try to remove the the spider web. >> It's right there in in the cart. The manscape kit is in the cart, >> but we saw you conceal it into your person. >> But it's in the cart. >> You selected two select? >> Yeah. And the black one is up there. >> There was I looked at the other one cuz there was a different one. It was 69 and the other one's 79. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. There's like a black box. >> Yeah. I wrote the back box back and that's the one in my buggy and that's the one that's out in the in the in in the thing right there. >> So I saw you take take the manscape, put it inside your jacket, tuck it in with your elbow and then I saw you go into the bathroom. >> No, I went into the children's department first. >> Right. >> And then I still walked around and my stomach has been messed up. >> And then that's where you switched it cuz you got >> I didn't switch anything. >> You got two of them. >> No. Yeah, you told me. So this photo. So you had a black one in the cart. >> Yes, ma'am. No, no. One second. One second. Let me explain. So you had a black one in the cart. >> No, I had the gray one in No. You had the black one in the cart. You messed with the spiderweb. You couldn't get it. So then you went back, selected the gray one, put it in your jacket, and then walked away. >> All right. So that's what we observed. That's why we're here. And then from there, there's only one in the cart, >> and then you walked into the bathroom. >> You'll see me put the black one back on the shelf. >> On the shelf? >> Yes, sir. She remained fairly calm as the officer went over each detail, showing little sign of guilt. Meanwhile, police also noticed the ankle monitor she was wearing. >> Conditions of release for municipal court or magistrate court. Is that why you have the ankle monitor? >> Because I'm homeless. >> It's cuz I'm homeless. >> They don't they don't monitor homeless? >> Because they can't I'm on on state probation. >> You're on state probation? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Who's your probation officer? >> Uh Miss Carmarmac. >> Miss Carmarmac. >> Mhm. Okay. So, >> what's going to happen is that we have reason to believe you do have that property on you. Okay? We do have reason to believe it's some property may be in the purse as well as in those shoes. Okay? So, what's happening is those property the property that I'm mentioning right now is going to be seized pending the application of a search warrant. We're going to apply for a search warrant. Hold on. Let me finish. Let me finish explaining this. We're going to apply for a search warrant to the courts. The judge approves it. We're gonna search your belongings to recover the merchandise which we feel and know is in that those m we want the merchandise. >> We want everything. >> I got the socks I showed you. You showed my whole damn purse. >> So, can you show me inside those shoes? Can you empty them out for me? >> Look, empty them out for me so I can see them. This >> a pair of socks. >> Keep pulling. Keep pulling. >> Your socks. >> Okay. Other shoes. >> It's empty. This is papering bag. >> Yes, sir. and a pair of socks. Okay, >> I put it with you. I wasn't going to do it. >> So, where's the manscaping kit? >> I didn't take the manscaping kit. >> Hey, are you guys supposed to showing her the video camera? >> Are you guys allowed to show us the video camera? Cuz she's saying that they put it on. >> She still showed no sign of allowing police to search her purse. Instead, her attitude gradually became more defiant, signaling that chaos was about to unfold. I can't took me 4 months to get that license with your sound transference and everything else and I have mental health issues and you guys are harvesting. I showed you pull the camera. You see me leave it on the shelf. >> First, we we gave you several opportunities to stay clear and I'll hear in court. Excuse me. >> Nour putting hands on you. >> Don't put your hands on me like that. Hello. Don't. I have a song battery on police officers. You guys have been harassing me. You guys have been bothering me. I haven't done anything. >> Stop. If you try to If you try to give me regular purse, >> no. This is my property. >> Yeah. We're going to give it back to you. >> It's all I have. It took me four months to get my hook on right here. >> I can't even get my medical. This is my license to be. >> Yeah, we're going to get on the property. >> Look at the camera. >> Do not do not catch a felony because you're unwilling to cooperate. Okay, here we come. >> We walk this way. Okay, you need to pull the cameras. There is nothing on those cameras. >> There is nothing on my person, >> anything. I didn't touch you guys. What do you mean I'm going to get a felony? >> No, you don't get Don't get caught with the felony just cuz you're upset. All right. You're going to catch a felony if you do this stuff. >> In the end, Brenda Torres was charged with shoplifting and resisting. Evading or obstructing an officer. Under New Mexico law, resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer is a misdemeanor that can carry up to 364 days in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. Trying to hold on to a story or personal belongings can turn a shoplifting investigation into an additional charge. Cooperating with officers can help prevent a situation from escalating further. Next, this woman takes her claim of innocence to an even more unbelievable level. >> I didn't do anything. >> Yes, you did. >> No, I didn't. >> Stop. >> No. Stop. You stop. >> No. I'm going home. >> Stop. >> Okay. >> You're going to get tased. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. >> No. On the 4th of November 2022, police were dispatched to a mall after receiving a report of a woman with a history of six shoplifting incidents returning with similar behavior. When she saw the officers, she began running immediately, triggering a pursuit. >> Stop. >> No, I'm not stopping. Stop. >> No. Stop. >> No, >> I'm not stopping, sir. >> I didn't do anything. >> Yes, you did. >> No, I didn't. >> Stop. >> No. >> Stop. You stop. >> Get your hands off of me, sir. >> No, I didn't do anything, >> sir. I didn't do anything. >> You're going to get tased. >> No, I didn't do anything, sir. >> Stop touching me. >> Stop. >> No. In front of the food court. >> Give a hug a food court. >> No. Stop. >> You stop. >> You're going to get tased. >> Why are you doing this? >> Because you shoplifted. >> I did it. >> I told you to stop. >> I swear I did it. >> Ma'am, >> I did it. >> Do not stop. >> I swear I did it. >> I swear. Sir, >> turn around. >> I did it. >> I told you to stop. >> That is not true. Please. >> I'm going to give you count. >> No. Sir, >> no. I'm going home. >> Stop. >> Okay. >> You're going to get tased. >> Okay. Okay. Wait. >> No. Still resisting and denying everything, the woman gradually pulled the officer toward her car, even acting innocent while reaching toward the vehicle as if she was about to start it, forcing the officer to intervene. >> Let me sit down for a minute, sir. >> Stop. >> No. No. >> Nope. >> No. You uh >> stop. >> Uh-uh. Mister, >> stop. >> You've got to stop. Stop. Okay. Okay. I'm stopping. Here, here. Here, >> mister. Here. Here. Here. >> Stop. >> Here, sir. >> I give her to >> Yeah. Can I get the thing so she can call her? >> Turn around. Okay. Okay. Okay. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. Sir. >> Okay. Get >> Sorry. >> Do not move. >> I'm not the car. Try to go. >> I I won't do nothing. I swear. >> You don't run from the police and then try and get in the car with them. >> No, sir. >> Give me that. >> No, sir. What the other one look like? >> I'm so sorry. >> I don't The other uh >> can >> I only saw her? >> Please. >> Like I live here. >> I won't do nothing to reveal. >> Stop. >> When I tell you to stop, that means stop. >> How are you? >> I'm so sorry. I'm just trying to get her to unlock her phone so I can call her husband. >> Her stubborn behavior and attitude made it clear she was experienced at dealing with officers. While what was found in her purse only made the evidence against her harder to deny. >> All right. >> Where's your ID at? >> Stolen stuff. >> No. Where's the receipt? >> Yeah. Your purse is full of stolen stuff. >> You have some. >> Yeah. >> I am God. I'm so embarrassed. >> Face the car. >> I'm so sorry. >> I am so embarrassed. >> Where's your car? My car's on the other side >> from the security office. >> Huh? >> Are you going to have somebody else transport or you transport? >> Yes. >> Yeah. Have somebody else transport. That's cool. >> I'm so sorry. >> She dropped a bracelet over here in the parking lot. >> Sorry. >> No, I mean sorry. I'm not saying I'm sorry. I apologize for doing that. >> Yeah. I'm good, man. I appreciate it. >> Somebody grab my shoes, too. >> Well, I really do apologize. >> It's right there. >> I really do apologize. >> I'll go. >> Yes. >> One by O. >> I apologize. >> 054. >> I think the only reason you stopped is cuz the other other units showed up. >> You were trying to get in the car and leave. >> You're absolutely right. >> You're absolutely right. I'm not even going to stay here. Just keep on denying or nothing with anyone. >> That's the >> Please. >> She was then placed in the patrol car where she appeared remorseful about her actions. But was it genuine remorse or just an act when her later statements seemed increasingly hard to believe. >> I'm so terribly I mean >> why you just stopped? >> Cuz I knew I was going to go to jail for a long time. That's that's all honest. shoplifting. >> I know. And it's that's all I've ever done in a wrong. >> How many times have have you been caught shoplifting and charged? >> Five. >> Five. Five convictions. >> I swear. But it's the only thing I've ever done. I I ask for forgiveness. But I don't mind is the devil's playground and I should have never even been here. >> It's like you're playing Russian roulette with yourself. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> You got kids? >> No. >> No. You married? >> Yeah. And my husband does not deserve this. It's shitty like this. I'm so stupid. I swear I'm stupid. This is so ridiculous. I hate myself for doing this. I do better. I can't believe it. >> You know, you you make bad choices. So, but you are going to jail tonight. >> Yes, sir. >> For shoplifting cuz both Claire's and um Spencer wants to press charges and I'll find out what the amounts are those of those are later, but and then also for felony obstruction. >> Oh my god. >> The woman knew what she had done was wrong, yet she did it anyway because she believed she was going to be arrested regardless. On the way to the station, she continued bringing up her family, seemingly trying to gain some sympathy. >> I think I'd rather be killed is around my husband anyways right now cuz he's going to be so upset and I don't blame him. Oh my gosh, what an idiot. I am [ __ ] stupid. >> Oh, you're good. You need this. >> I can't My shoes are off. I'll get your shoes here in a second. >> Your shoes. >> Thank you. The woman was charged with theft by shoplifting and felony obstruction of law enforcement. Knowing that you are likely to be caught does not make the consequences disappear. Trying to resist or escape can turn a shoplifting case into a much more serious situation. Next, these two suspects turned on each other. Each trying to shift the blame and avoid responsibility. >> She say she won't lose her property anymore. >> Okay. >> And that's what happened. I never I never push. >> That is a very interesting theory. Yes. Okay. On the 3rd of September 2026, officers approached a residential area believed to be the home of two suspects connected to a previous theft at a public store. A man appeared shortly after. Let's see how he reacted to this unexpected encounter. >> Hello. >> Hey, how you doing? Can we talk to you >> for you? >> No. >> How you doing, sir? All right. So, let me see. >> Okay, guys. Okay, listen. Um, I need to ask you a few questions. >> What is it about? >> This is about the Publix uh and Key Plaza. All right. So, but before I do that, I need to read you your rights. >> Wait a minute. Wait a minute. >> Sure. Of course. >> Okay. What What is What is it like? I mean, >> it's a criminal investigation. There was some Yeah. >> All right. Okay. So, basically, um, there were a few beverage items stolen from Public Ski Plaza. >> Okay. >> And they provided me the video footage. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Okay. Okay. Sure. Go ahead. >> Did they see me take anything out of out of public? >> Yes. >> I didn't take anything out of public. >> Were you at Publix? >> I was at public. Listen to this. >> Okay. All right. >> And the young lady that I was with, >> who? >> The young lady that I was with, she was um she said she going to pay for my items, which >> Mhm. >> I didn't push anything out of that school. >> That's was the good lady. >> Is she just a friend of yours or family? >> Yeah, she's a friend of mine. >> She was supposed to um baking stuff. >> I didn't walk out of no basket or anything at the store. Okay. I told her I needed some some um insurance and stuff and she said she would pay for her car or whatever she had. I never walked out of puppies with no um >> Where's this go? >> She lives in Port I never my everybody right here with me. I never walked out of here. I put him in the basket for her and she said she was going to do something to pay for it. He continued shifting the blame to the woman who was with him, claiming that she was supposed to pay for the items, but the officers noticed other details that made his story difficult to believe. >> Yeah, but I can see all those stuff were being loaded into your vehicle as part of the handicap spot. >> Okay, listen. And you didn't pay attention that all those items were not in bags. >> Well, you can't put um insurers on. >> What is it? >> The insure. insure like >> she had an insure and she had >> was insure like the like drinks and she had some other stuff was in the bottles that she had whatever she had her sodas and stuff was never in the body but I never never push anything out of >> you stuff from the shelf >> okay it's it's on video yeah >> I know that I know that I took it from the shelf and I put it in for her okay I left cuz she said she was going to pay for stuff on the car and I'm ask everybody here I never and when she came outside I thought she paid cuz she had her buy and she had a receipt in her hand and she had her bike other stuff in her bike and she put it into I and now I put in the I thought she paid for it but I never never that's all I never took because I store >> you don't see me. >> Were you with her the entire time? >> No. >> No. >> So you walked out from the store first and then she followed you with the car, right? >> She walked out. She w No out before. >> So you left before here? >> Okay. >> And I guess she came up I didn't go to No. I didn't >> No. No. You came to the vehicle together? >> Yeah. I walked out before saying he left the store, but I never I left the store before her and then she came out after I >> That's what you're trying to say. >> Yes, sir. But I never >> And I won't lie. I know. >> I know. I've never >> All right. >> I've never known you to be a thief. >> No. >> A few hours later, the second suspect, the woman involved in the story, arrived at the police station after being summoned. She also gave a story that was almost identical. >> It was like walking and talk at the same time or whatever. So, >> I thought Okay. >> Cuz Agent went by. I thought he paid for and he thought >> and you talk to me >> and he thought I pay for. So it so happened that they say that we didn't pay for him. So we were like talking to >> Can you silence the phone because I'm having a hard time understanding what you're saying >> and we um end up walking out, but it wasn't the intention of stealing them or taking them. He thought he pays off and I thought he paid off. >> All right. Listen um just to determine the details, >> I need to ask you a few questions. But the way it works, I have to read you your rise before that. Okay? Just listen to me very carefully having these questions in mind. Are you willing to speak to me? All right. So, um, you just told me that you and Mr. were in Publix and then you got some stuff, some those insured beverages, you put them in the golf cart. I mean, the in the shopping cart and then you went out from the store and he was saying you thought that he paid. >> Yes. cuz he went he went to check out and I would and I stopped to customer service and I was talking to them. So at the same time he thought I paid and I thought he paid. That's when he said that money and said come on let's go. But I thought he paid for and he thought I paid for. It wasn't like intention was to take him from the store. >> All right. Uh on the video footage I don't even see you passing by the cashier counters. You went out from the store by the flower section. >> Yeah we Yeah. I had stopped and I was talking. You didn't see me stopped and was talking to Deborah, the c the one of the store manager of the store. >> No, I did not see that. >> Yeah, I had stopped and me and Deborah Me and Deborah was talking. >> Okay. And then you stop and then you just went out >> and then then we went out because that's when he when he when they when Mr. Johnson called me, he said, "Come on." He said, "I'm finished." So, I thought, you know, he was already, but I was drinking so I thought he was. >> She confidently answered the officer's questions, but her own story revealed a few details that would later raise questions for the officers. When you pay the stuff, right, the cashier casts the stuff with this little device. >> How could he have paid for it if that stuff was with you? >> Because the stuff wasn't with me at first. He had the basket first and then when we came around before we got to the register, he gave me the basket when we got to the deli. >> You mean the shopping cart? >> The shopping cart. We had stopped. We was even going We even stopped to the deli to get a sandwich. But the deli line was long. So then after we he didn't get the sandwich, that's when I got the shopping cart. that when he said that when he said come on he said come on let's go down was too low cuz the auntie was like get like glass lightaded so I would say come on let's go >> silence please thank you all right so the shopping cart was transferred to you at the deli section that's what you're saying okay and you were thinking by that time he already paid for that >> cuz that's when he stopped to get the sandwich by the sandwich um she was like >> so you were thinking that he went to Kashia section paid everything and then came back into the go to the deli section. >> Came back by the deli section, hand me the cart. They said, "Come on, just go." Cuz he was he was looking for something else. I guess he couldn't find it. But he was looking for whatever. That's going to buy the sandwich, the deli to get my rosemary sandwich. The line was long. That's when he said, "Come on, let's go." That's what I pushed the cutter, but not knowing that they wouldn't pay for >> Okay. >> I was I don't >> The way he told me that he had no idea you didn't pay for those. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? We both It was like both like he went he went one way, but then we end up meeting back up by the by the deli >> to get to get my auntie Rosemary and then we end up saying, "Come on, let's go." He thought I paid, I thought, he paid. >> The man was later brought in with the woman. Although they both blamed each other, the merchandise had still left the store without being paid for. So, the officer made a decision about the case. Can you give me something? >> The only way we can do that is if you always shut up your court. >> Honestly, that puts an extra step into my investigation. It's much easier for me just to take you to jail and let the judge deal with you, too. Okay. >> At the end of the day, you did commit theft. >> The man was charged with first-degree petite theft, while the woman was charged with seconddegree petite theft. Both pleaded not guilty and posted $2,500 bonds. Their cases remain pending with the next court hearing scheduled for the 28th of October, 2026. Blaming each other does not change what the evidence shows. When merchandise leaves a store without payment, inconsistent explanations can make the situation even harder to defend. Next up, this woman was not only a shoplifter, but also involved in a scam. >> The bag was less full when she came in and full when she came in. Full when she left. Then she'd be going out and then she looked at me and I said, "I can't handle her." No, no. >> Don't arrest me, bro. Okay, here. >> On the 7th of March, 2026, police approached the woman as she left Kohl's after the store reported suspected theft involving her and others. During the conversation, she immediately explained that she was dealing with a problem with her gift card. But was this simply an excuse to deny the suspected theft? >> Ma'am, do you mind if I talk with you for a second? Yes, sir. >> How you doing? I'm Sergeant Reigns. I'm with the police department. Hello. >> The store inside was calling about some suspicious activity. You mentioned a lady with a large shoulder bag like yours was on the phone was about to walk out of the store and they thought you may have taken something. >> No, I just got on the phone because they just tried to do my card and they said that there's nothing on it, but there was something on the card. I just got on the fifth. So, he said I needed to call them. He just told me to call the people. >> Okay. So, it's a gift card. >> Yes. He just told me to call them. So, that's why I'm on the phone. Gotcha. >> I'm on the phone trying to talk to them now. >> Okay. All right. Do you mind if we maybe walk back inside and talk with them together and try to figure out what's going on? >> There's nothing going on and I'm not going back inside because I didn't do anything. I was just at the counter. I was just at the counter and he just told me to call these people and I'm just walking out the door. So, how am I having suspicious activity when I just tried to purchase something? >> Well, that's what I'm trying to figure out. The store called us, right? I wasn't here, so I don't know for sure, but they called and said it appeared that you and some other people who were in a car that's over there by the Wendy's were working together to try to distract them and steal some stuff. >> I'm not I'm parked over by the Publix. I parked down there. So, >> that's fine. That's why I was just asking if you wouldn't mind walking with us just to talk with everyone together. >> Plenty or anything, but I did not do anything. And I don't feel like I'm being targeted for something that I didn't do. I'm in there trying to purchase a shirt and some shoes. Meanwhile, an officer inside the store was getting a very different story from the employees. >> What did she take? Uh, >> she had the bag. She had She was with a male who walked out with a bunch of stuff, too. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> The bag itself. She took >> No, no, no. She walked in with that. >> Okay. >> She walked in with that. >> So, did she take anything? >> I don't know. I I told the operator there. I could not I can't verify she took anything. They were together, though. So, she's with a guy and the guy walked out with a full card. >> Do you know exactly what he took? >> I approximately like shoes. He got a bunch of different stuff, but shoes. I get that I pulled >> and they said I can't use my card. >> Okay. >> So, that's the only thing I'm trying to do. So, I don't feel like I did anything wrong. There's no reason to even have have to go through all this. >> Okay. Is there a receipt for the gift card or something else? >> Receipt for the gift card because that's what I was trying to purchase the shoes with. >> Did he give you like a reason why it wasn't working? >> No, because he said he said once they do the thing, he said um once he had to call the 800 number. He said because it was showing that look at that. >> That's fine. I just got on the fifth. >> Yes. Can you hold on? >> Trying to return something. No sir. To the car door. No sir. That was that's what I got when I the return was done and I was trying to purchase something and he said that they was coming up zero balance. He said I have to call them. He said they'll hold the shoes for me and I can come back. And I said okay. So I was going to go call and >> I'm confused you. So obviously you're trying to buy someone the gift card. What's the receipt for for the other? >> That's when I got the gift card. >> Oh, okay. >> That's where the gift card purchase. That's where where they gave me the store credit. >> It seemed the whole situation might simply be a misunderstanding over the woman's gift card. But another store employee soon revealed a much more serious detail. >> Skinny African-American. I believe it was a white shirt. Very thin white beard. >> A white beard. >> Yeah, like a thin white beard. >> Okay. And was there just two people or more? >> They just came in together. I don't There was I believe there was a third waiting in the car out there. So there probably is two in the car cuz when I went when I went to get a cart earlier, I saw a guy waiting by the car which is on that side. >> So that's I'm guessing that was another person. The lady who's outside right now with the big shoulder bag >> is do we know for sure that she didn't? >> I I cannot confirm it, but she is one of our habitual ones that we have. I I so I don't know for sure. >> Do you know her name? >> I don't. >> Okay. >> I think the other she was in the other day if I remember correctly. >> She was saying something about trying to use a gift card tonight. >> She tried. >> Okay. What was she trying to buy? >> Um up here pair of shoes. >> Okay. But she didn't but we don't know that she walked out with anything or did anything. Right. >> No, but I the bag was less full when she came in and full when she came in. pull when she left. Then she be going out and then she looked at me and I said, "Life answered on the ES." Yeah, the ES thing be it looked as though it was another male out there and he looked like he had dreads. I don't know for sure. >> Okay. >> Like longer dreads when they left while I was on the phone. >> Okay. >> To take it or >> we can sort that out in a second. Let's we'll deal with her real quick cuz Yeah, it would have been nice if you mentioned that earlier. like she beeped on the anti- theft thing and she walked out cuz that changed things a little bit. >> Police then confronted her with the allegations they had received. Now watch how she reacted when faced with those accusations. >> So the issues kind of clarified a little bit again. He believes that you were working in concert with these people that are over there in that car whether you were or not. Uh, also though, he mentioned as you walked out that the anti- theft device that's there in those little columns that detect stuff with tags on it from the store went off as you walked out and your bag appears fuller now than it was when you first came in the store. >> My bag was full when I came in. >> Okay, be that as it may. Based on everything he's telling us here, it appears that you stole something today cuz there's no other reason that alarm would go off. >> No, I did not. And I walked in the thing. >> I need your bag so we can search. Make sure there's nothing in there. >> My bag because that my bag this is my personal stuff. I came in. >> Miss Denita, based on everything we have here, I got probable callers to search your bag. You don't have to search my bag. >> Then you're going to be arrested for resisting and then we'll search the bag after. Is that what you want to do? >> When I walked in, hold on. When I walked, >> her voice grew faster and more anxious while she continued making a phone call that raised suspicions she might be contacting an accomplice. That was enough for police to make the decision to arrest her. >> Don't arrest me, bro. Okay. Sir, please don't arrest me. Please, I'm going to give it to you. I told you I was trying to No, I was telling you to ask him about it. Don't arrest me. >> Don't arrest me. Please. >> It's too late for that, man. >> Thank you, sir. Please, sir. Please don't arrest me. Please don't arrest me. >> Go that reverse. Yep. >> Please don't arrest me. Please don't arrest me. >> Please don't arrest me, sir. >> I get this hand. >> Please don't ask. I want you to ask them what I came in with. I came in with stuff, sir. >> I came in with stuff. >> I came in with stuff, sir. >> Can you please not arrest me? >> I was going to give you I was going to Listen, I was going to give you the bag, but I was telling you to ask them. No, I was going to I was texting you to ask him if it came in. >> Ask him. >> No, sir. >> Listen, can you please stop? Can you please stop? I feel >> Okay, I'll do anything. We're going to walk to walk to a car. I'll do anything. >> You're under arrest. Walk to the car before it gets worse. >> I'll do I'll do anything to get out of >> We're walking. >> I'll give you I'll do whatever. I'll do whatever. >> We can talk about all that in a second. Okay. >> There's a lot of stuff. >> I don't want to be arrested tonight. Please. >> Well, then you should have listened. >> I was listening. I wanted you to know that I I had something when I came in. He was standing right there when I came in. It beat when I came in. >> There's no reason that your >> when I came in. >> No, he said when he walked out of beach and again that only >> Sasso, can you unlock this? >> When I when I walked in and when I walked out. >> Okay. Have a seat in the car for me. >> Sorry. Please. >> Sir, please. >> We'll get all that in a second. All right. After her arrest, officers searched her bag and what they found provided evidence that was difficult to deny, forcing them to confront her with it. >> Well, everything in there, the way it's packaged is still on hangers and in the bags and all that. >> I I kick myself out. Every time I go shopping, I can take cuz I don't hang I don't like bags. >> Okay. Well, why would you bring all that with you tonight? >> Because I was going to try to take and do a return also. >> Why didn't you do that while you were in there? >> Because I always do it when I get all my stuff. I do it at one time because they have the return up there at the front. >> Well, that's what I'm saying. And when you were up there trying to buy stuff and you had the issue with the gift card not working, why wouldn't you just go ahead and do the return at least and then worry about the gift card later? >> Because he told me to make sure I need to call first and I was going to go ahead and call. >> Well, but you can handle the return. And if you have all that stuff and you save everything else, why wouldn't you also save the bags that you got when you bought the stuff at Kohl's? >> I didn't. Listen, I don't get bags, but when I go in the store, I don't usually get bags. I don't. >> Okay. So, all that stuff in there that's brand new and and pristine. No dirt, no nothing, no lint from the bag. It's It's all stuff. >> It was on the fifth. Okay. >> So, you just bought that all on the fifth. It >> was on the 5th. >> Did you buy it here? >> Yes. >> Okay. What'd you pay with? >> I paid cash. >> Gotcha. What time are you here? >> I don't. >> Before you answer, let me ask you this. Cuz obviously they have video footage. Every customer that's here all day long. So on the 5th >> when we check, is it really going to show you buying that stuff? >> Show me. Yeah. >> Is it going to show you at the register paying for all that stuff that's in your bag? >> Show me. >> Okay. Somehow I doubt that. And then you don't want to believe it. You know what I'm saying? >> Why would you buy it all and then 2 days later come back to return it? >> Cuz it's the wrong size. >> Oh, okay. Who'd you buy it for? >> My cousin. >> Gotcha. And is there a reason your cousin just buy it for you or buy it for herself? >> Excuse me. >> Is there a reason your cousin didn't just come and buy it for herself? >> No, it was going to be a gift. It's a gift, sir. >> Okay. >> So, put your feet in there. >> Whose car were you guys in tonight? Jaylen's or Andre's? >> I I don't know who it was to >> What kind of car is it? In the end, the 45-year-old woman was charged with resisting arrest without violence and felony petty theft. She was later adjudicated guilty on both charges, serving 25 days in county jail, followed by 2 years of probation. Denying the evidence does not make it disappear when the facts and evidence contradict the story. Continuing to lie can only make the situation worse. Next, this woman thought she could still deny what the camera had already captured. >> They saw it. They have it on the camera. Hold on a second. So they're going to they're going to prosecute. Now you saying you LEFT IT. >> STOP. I DIDN'T TAKE IT. I DIDN'T TAKE IT. I DIDN'T TAKE IT. >> On the 27th of February 2022, police approached a woman suspected of stealing two bottles of perfume from a shopping mall. But when the officer brought up the incident, she denied everything. >> I didn't take nothing out of that. >> I'm in Macy's right now. >> I didn't have take nothing out of that. >> Okay. Well, here's the deal. I'm going to have there's golf prevention come by. They positive identified you through the camera. >> Yeah. >> But I didn't take anything. >> Okay. If you didn't take anything, nothing on your person and you get cut loose, no worries. Okay. But it's got no camera. Can you step out here with me, please? >> All right. Just come with me, please. >> Yes, man. Stay with me. There you go. >> You doing all right? I'm good. I'm working for Outstanding. You were at Sachs, right? >> Yes, I was there. >> And was the perfume that was taken from there? >> They have a camera. >> They don't have me take anything cuz I left it. >> You left it. >> My fragrances. >> I took I left. >> No, you didn't. >> Yes, I did. >> I left them. >> All right. Where are they? >> I left them intact. I didn't take them till I saw you. >> Okay. Wait a second. Hold on a second. Oh, cuz you saw him. >> Yes. So, I left them at the door. >> Okay. So, here's what we're going to do. >> Saw her take them. >> Give me one moment. Yeah. >> So, here's what we're going to do. They're sacks. >> Yeah. >> They saw it. They have it on their camera. Hold on a second. >> So, they're going to they can prosecute. Now, you're saying you left it. >> So, if we can recover, we might be able to work something out and then you might get a tres cuz you just, you know, you were trying to steal it. So, >> no, I did not take it. I didn't understand. I understand that. Let me finish up here. So, let's see what we can do about getting it back. >> I didn't take it. So, I can't give him anything back. >> I know. You said you left it at the door, right? >> I was looking at it and I didn't take anything. >> And you left it at the door. You said no. I'm not leaving in that door like I tried to steal it or anything. >> She kept changing her story without even realizing it while the suspicion continued to grow. Then an employee stepped in and gave his account of what he believed had happened. >> I was sitting in women's shoes talking to another associate. I saw her walk in through our men's door, right? She's walking through uh pass through jewelry, eyeballs me the whole way. I already knew something. I saw her over at our pre counter. Look to my left. She's standing there staring right at me again. So I walked around handbags because I was going to approach her from the other side. And then by that time she was she was already gone. So and then all the ladies in cosmetics are like, "Oh, they just put two problems." And then on the way out she asked one of our other associates for a bag and she wouldn't give her one. So she left an attitude with the associate and then just walked out of the store. And then they all started calling me. Oh, she took a bottle. I was like, "Yeah, I know exactly who it is. I was just watching her >> and then so and then that's when I called my security to see if they can possibly locate So you got you got two is it a $500 bottle or two >> two two $500 models. So one >> so we know are those big models but we look at first >> um I mean even if even if they're small bottles it's still going to be about 600 or 700 >> right no I need to try I'm trying to say big or small as far as the price of what they look like. So what kind of perfume do you know? >> Uh Creed Aventus. >> I'm not sure if it was the men's or the women's cuz they make both >> but it is Creed Aventus. >> Is it possible? camera. >> The employee then provided footage showing the woman's actions to support his account. >> And then I think she was trying to look for a little bag or something to put it in. You see, she walked away with the little black bag. >> Damn, Miss Moore. I just saw the video. >> Mhm. >> Okay. And I do believe that it was taken. So, I'll give you if I took it. >> Yes. So, I'm going to give you the opportunity to and I don't know where your friends went. The ones that were distracting the the clerk. Did you hand it off to them? >> I didn't even have my friends with me. No, I did not. >> Okay, that's fine. It looked like there were some people that were trying to distract, but that's okay. But that's okay because at the end of the day, you and I are talking and this is where we are right now. So, there >> I didn't have nobody with me. Nobody was with me. Okay. >> Can you please show me what you're talking about? Cuz that was a lot. >> I just saw the video right now. Can you show it to me? >> It's called Discovery. You can find You can see it in court. I did not take anything. I did not take it right away. >> I left it there. >> Okay. >> Well, did you you seen me take it? >> Yeah. I saw you walk over with the black bag and kind of snuck it in there. I saw that. >> You saw me take the silver. >> So, you going to Yes. Where they had the the display one >> and I didn't leave it. >> No, ma'am. >> Okay. You say so. >> So, what I'm going to do is I am saying so. But what I am also saying is that I think they're willing to give you an opportunity to say, "Hey, this is where it's at. You can >> I left it in there. I left it there." >> Okay. I left it there. >> Okay. >> I did not take it. >> Okay. Set up on me, please. >> I didn't take it. >> Would you mind doing the evidence stuff? Give them the card, take some of that stuff and and get it out of them. >> Do you want to give this stuff to anybody? >> What's up? Your jewelry? >> Yeah. >> You you you go in the gun club, ma'am. You're under arrest. >> For what? >> Grand theft, ma'am. >> I did not take anything. >> I did not take it. >> I saw the video there. Can you show it to me? >> It's It's not even It's not even debatable. >> Can you please show >> Hey, do you want Can you Can you show the video for me? Just Let's make her happy here. >> And what is it? One bottle or two? >> Uh, well, from what they said, two, but >> is that $500 a piece? >> What the hell? >> $4.99 a piece. >> So, it's $1,000. >> Let me see. >> No problem. I will. The woman watched the footage of her own actions, seemingly accepting what had happened. But she had a different belief. And that belief would later cause the situation to escalate. >> Tell me where the merchandise is, then. >> I left it in the store. Where? >> Right there where you saw it at. >> Cuz it's not there. >> I did not take it out of the store. He's trying to He's telling you a lie. >> Why would I lie? >> No, he's lying. I >> don't fight, Miss Moore. Don't lying. >> Do not fight, Miss Moore. >> He's lying, though. >> Miss Moore. >> He's lying. You're not living listening to me. He's lying. You >> can you please tell him where the stuff is? >> I did not take it out of the store. >> Don't do that. >> I DID NOT TAKE IT. >> I DID NOT TAKE IT OUT OF THE STORE. S I DIDN'T take it. I DIDN'T TAKE IT. I DIDN'T TAKE IT. I DIDN'T take it. Please. I DIDN'T DO I DIDN'T TAKE IT. I DIDN'T TAKE IT. >> I didn't take it. I DIDN'T TAKE IT. >> I DIDN'T TAKE IT. >> HELP ME. Help me. He's trying to say I took something I didn't take. >> I didn't take it. >> I'm going to tase you this morning. >> I'm going to tase you. Stop. Stop. >> I did it. He's lying on me though. >> Why is he lying on me? >> WHY IS HE LYING on me? >> He's lying on me, though. I DIDN'T TAKE IT. >> The officer tried to explain that she would have her chance to argue her case in court. But her continued resistance now led to another charge being added. >> What I'm trying to tell you, Morris, is based on what we've got by having a proper cross to arrest you. Okay? Now, you've had your You can have your day in court. You know how that works. You ain't into the game. >> Yeah, but you have to walk out the door with something. >> No, you don't. No, you do not. >> That's stealing. >> Don't do that. >> So, YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT IT >> any attempt to conceal or deprive the owner. >> I didn't conceal it. You saw me conceal it. >> Yes, ma'am. Anytime videos, you didn't have your day in court. >> You saw me conceal it. What you But you're not concealing it. >> You saw the same video I did. >> [ __ ] And what else? What did you see? I didn't see anything being concealed. >> All stored away. Okay. And they proceed. No, cuz that's all right. You saying I stole it and I did court. How many times have you been to court? How many times? Exactly. More times than me. >> Okay. So, there's no need for you to go make a state. >> Yes, it is. When when someone does me wrong, that's wrong. >> There's no lower level of >> the center by the center court right here. >> I know. I know you're going to jail. I know. But now you're going to have another charge of resisting. Why? >> That's he's lying. It isn't necessary anymore. >> How would you feel if someone's lying on you? >> I would just have to deal with it. >> Okay. And that's [ __ ] lying. >> And just as good as how you how you going to feel when you beat it? If you can beat it, how you going to feel? Good. But now you got this charge of resisting here for what? >> Resisting for what? >> Why is that resisting? >> Resisting arrest. That's resisting is more. You know better than that. Come on. >> I was not resisting. >> I'm trying to tell you something. He's lying. >> Damn. You tell me something with your mouth, not with your body. Okay. In the end, the woman was charged with grand theft and resisting an officer without violence. When you believe an arrest is wrong, arguing or physically resisting can make the situation worse. But it appeared the apartment's residents knew the suspect, and they were not willing to easily open the door for the officers. >> Good. They're not fan. >> You think she's overdosing? >> Not right now. >> Okay. >> You know how much it took. >> How old are you? >> I just got scared like heard knocking at your house. >> I think we heard you the first 12 times you said if you didn't feel good. Have a seat. Looks like 180 of them. >> From the bag that the suspect's friend handed over earlier, officers found multiple items with price tags from different stores believed to be stolen. She also admitted what she intended to do with them. >> Yeah. Hold on. How did you get all these products, but still have price tags on it? >> That's just crazy. These are Nike stuff, man. Hey, >> let's go take pictures of it. Nike store here. Send this. Okay. Yeah. Do you have any of the property crime detectives number? >> Yeah. >> Take some pictures of it and send it to them. >> Can I ask Can I get the cigarettes off the garage? >> Her cigarettes? Yeah. >> Would you mind trying to get you a cigarette? >> What? Oh, no. She's not smoking either. >> Yeah, she's not smoking. >> No. >> Yeah. Wasting our time. We're going to give her a cigarette and no cook said take her to jail. She's a repeat offender anyway. So yeah, these are all Nike. So some makeup stuff. She couldn't tell you where she got the items from. >> She got say I would have seized her. >> No, she knew that. >> Oh, she's going to jail. So >> that's fine, but I only got to the hospital first. I don't feel good. >> Yeah. Know how that works. Sorry. Said take you to jail. So you're going to jail. >> Wow. So we got Marshall stuff. How did you get all those items? >> My friend P gave me some stuff to sell outside. >> Your friend P gave you some those stuff to sell? >> I do shop that time, but I got that >> from your friend P. Is that a male or female? It's a >> It's a female. Okay. Friend named P gave it to her so she could sell us so she can make some money. So, sounds bogus. Sounds like it should all go into evidence while we investigate the shoplifting. So, yeah. Go grab me a bag. >> Yeah. All right. Now she can have this. All right. We're we're seizing all this property there that she does not have any receipt for it. So >> there's no cigarette either. >> Afterward, the woman was taken to the police station and she even made another suspect nervous as her shameless tricks were repeated once again. Come on. Aula, go to this door over here. Come on. I'll help you. >> They have a nurse in here. Okay. The nurse will check you out and then we'll go from there. All right. We'll already call EMS on scene to check you out. >> I like doing your job. You know, >> we're going to go in here. They have a nurse. They will check you out. >> They don't do anything. You know that. >> We're going to probably set up your eyes. >> I And they know they weren't supposed to leave. Everybody's been saying that lately that people passing the word. It doesn't double. >> That's fine because they're going to come with me to the hospital. I'm not worried about that. I didn't even know I'm okay. I don't feel okay. >> Well, they got a nurse. They'll check you out and they feel that you need to go to the hospital. They won't take you to the hospital. >> I've been waiting here an hour. >> I then I shouldn't ate it. >> You should never have. >> You're going to regret it. You're going to regret that. >> I didn't put that thing in your mouth. You going to save my life? I don't feel right. >> Okay, they have a nurse here. The nurse will take you out. Okay. >> Come to jail. See how much sweat is dripping off. >> It's hot in here now. >> Please do your job, right? You're not supposed to do this. You know that. I don't I don't feel good at all. I promise you I don't I don't feel right. Please, I don't feel right. >> Please. >> In the end, the woman was charged with two counts of theft by shoplifting and probation violation for theft by shoplifting. On the 7th of June, 2024, she entered a no contest plea to the charges and was sentenced to 90 days of confinement and $50 in fees. Repeated offenses and warrants can quickly turn a simple encounter into much bigger consequences. Trying to distract officers with excuses or false claims will not make the evidence disappear. >> Over 15,000 that [ __ ] was hacked. Like it was literally I had a stack of money back. I'm a fed to Ukraine. Maria Apollo is my father. >> On the 13th of July 2024, police received a report of a fraud incident that had occurred. The suspect was a woman who attempted to use counterfeit money to pay a bill at a store, but left when she failed. When approached, the woman admitted it but claimed it was a mistake. >> All right. Thank you. Hey, ma'am. Come here for a second. >> I didn't know it was fake. I'm sorry. I didn't know it was fake. And I come to my car for me. >> I apologize for my email. >> You know what? I had over $15,000. Way over 15,000. That [ __ ] was hacked. Like, it was literally I had a stack of money and it was hack. And then I got to deal with that [ __ ] >> So, I mean, I apologize to you. I don't really want any any charges press because I swear to God I got the off a money order from my grandfather and he is blessed and he doesn't Yeah. But I didn't know. >> You can set it on my car if you need. So >> did you end up paying them with any type of money? >> I didn't I told them that they could call my grandfather themselves or whatever because my phone is in my hotel room. Okay. >> And they didn't want you cuz you could have paid them over a credit card or whatever. Do you understand what I'm saying? That was like I just need one. >> Actually, can I see all all of it? >> I mean, you don't have to say it all for me. I I'm asking, can I see it? >> Because you're only the third person that's telling you that it's fake or whatever cuz I did verify in the racetrack and they did tell me the same thing. However, I am the wife of a superstar that's going through some really hard right now. I mean, you can see some of it, but you don't have to see all of it. >> No, I'm asking, can I see all of it? >> Why? I just want to see it, see if any of it's real. >> The suspicion that she herself was the one possessing the counterfeit money grew stronger as she hesitated when allowing officers to further verify it and even shifted doubt onto the credibility of others instead of herself. >> If any of this really one of them is fake, they're probably all going to be safe or they're probably not all that fake. You know what I'm saying? But I want I just want to marker with me so I wouldn't be able to tell you if you were telling me the truth. Like if you had the marker, how do I know that he's telling me the truth or he's telling me the truth or if they're just doing things in the area that they don't have somebody spend 100? You know what I'm saying? >> I got no reason to lie to you. >> I don't gain anything. I'm not going to buy anything. >> I can pay I can have that paid by making a phone call. I can have it paid by making a phone call. So, >> okay. >> If you really want me to give up the hundreds or whatever, I know them to be real. If I need to skip on to another area of Georgia, I do have a house. I'm married. I'm married to two different men. I can go home. I mean, I can call him, go home. My phone's at my hotel room. I've just been hanging out like just being crazy young girl. >> All right, let me read you something real quick. Okay. >> You had a right to remain silent. Anything you say can or will be used against you in the court of law. You had a right to talk to a lawyer. Have him or her being question. Hold on. Let me finish real quick. >> Are you resident? >> Not at the moment. I just want to ask you some questions. >> Okay. >> You had a right to talk to a lawyer, have him or her present while you're being questioned. >> I'm really sorry. I didn't mean for all this to happen. I mean, it was just going to listen to me and I was able to pay for the meal. want to take the other officer. Are you going to listen to me? >> I'm listening, but I'm also telling this officer for what? What are you arresting me for? >> What are you arresting me for, man? This is all out of my way cuz y'all want to treat him bad. My family put him in slavery. Mary Angela Christine. >> Y'all put him in slavery. You do not want him to have a good life. You don't want him to have a good life. You didn't even give me a chance. >> I honestly me in a different way of my grandfather contain please just call him a butt containing room 206 with a very good friend of mine I've known for over 17 years you do not have to do this the money is real there hundreds but it is real $100 bills in my opination however I don't have the marker on me so how would I know but I know that my family puts little Wayne Carter into slavery >> her lack of cooperation steadily escalated and after her rights were read officers decided to detain her but it clearly did not happen easily. >> Listen to me. >> I'm listening, but I'm also telling you this officer for what? What are you arresting me for? >> What are you arresting me for, man? This is all the other way cuz y'all want to treat him bad. My family puts him in slavery. Mary Angela Christina. >> Y'all put him in slavery. You do not want him to have a good life. You don't want him to have a good life at all. You didn't even give me a chance. I honestly money in a different way of my grandfather. Please let me just call him a rule of econ 206 with a very good friend of mine. I've known for over 17 years. You do not have to do this. The money is real. They're hundreds, but it is real $100 bills in my opinion. However, I don't have the marker on me. So, how would I know? But I know that my family puts little Wayne Carter into slavery. Yes, they do. And somebody needs to speak up for him. And that's me. Man, I think that I'm getting a little >> Are is somebody able to come over here to identify the lady >> to drive over to the racetrack? >> That's my opinion. >> Do you think that's >> how long would it take you to get over here? >> The woman made statements that strayed far from the current situation, suggesting that she was not in a normal state, which further cast doubt on the credibility of her continued denial. >> Wait to pay that meal, though. What are you charging me with? >> Did you pay before you left? He had the option to call my grandfather. >> It's a yes or no. >> He had the option to call my grandfather and they didn't ask me on the way in, how are you paying the >> So, what are you doing >> right now? We're going to have somebody from the restaurant come over here. You were you at the restaurant? >> Yes, I was at the restaurant, sir. >> Okay. >> But I had another way for his merchandise to be paid for his product, which is food. It could be paid for with a phone call to my grandfather. That's where the money came from. >> It was a money order. He says Dollar General money always to me sometimes or clover. >> Let's just do this. Why >> don't you go and just start transporting? >> I'll go down and beat them. >> She's got enough. >> It's not like she's denying there. >> You want me to You want me to take this or No. >> What's that? >> You want me to take the hunters or >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. We'll take all that. >> What am I being charged? >> You're being charged with forgery and theft of uh theft of services. You search it for me real quick. I'll write down. >> Okay. >> At this point, officers conducted a search on her and her delusion resurfaced as she began claiming various identities just to prove she had money. >> What were you locked up? What were your life? >> Construction charge. I was doing so I gave a name that was not on myself. I used a different name right. I was a star seller for the college of course and no problem with me whatsoever. I'm a fed student. They're saying the money is safe. Please don't breath out your shoulder man. I'm a subtle student in training. I double multiple personalities that are my bow. I do every day in pain and as always are to me and shame. That's my thing. You don't have to hide it. That's from jail. >> Yes sir. and she was right on the street. So if you want >> the woman increasingly showed how detached she was from reality as her statements made it seem like she believed she was in some kind of movie. Is this a real jail system or a real jail or is this a private key set out by Christine or a Cuz that's what I really want to know or someone that's bound to further ensure Y I don't know my phone. >> Yeah, I got something. >> I don't think this is a real police agency. I do not think this is a >> I'm 95 with the female. I'll look for her name a little bit later. I'll be 91 to the PD. Starting mile is 549. >> Clear and 1091 at 13 24 hours lowly. In the end, she was charged with forgery and theft of services. Did you think this was a case of her convincing herself she was wealthy and fabricating a false life story, then using counterfeit money to live in luxury? Let us know in the comments. >> Units be advised. The other female with the cream shirt uh who does not have charges. >> In my bag, there's um Yes, sir. There's a one in my bag. On June 8th, 2023, police were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a woman actively shoplifting there. Upon arrival, officers worked with loss prevention staff to review surveillance footage and determine what had happened. >> Is that her right there? >> Mhm. So, yeah, that's her. >> Yeah. Light-skinned female. Uh, looks like she has a black wig or black and blonde wig. She's wearing a camo style jacket, white shirt, blue jeans, shorts, and white or cream colored van looking shoes. >> She probably, if you go to check out, you probably going to get her on two things. Yeah. Okay. So, I think she about to put the tag on it now. She >> So, she took off um she's over by pharmacy. She took off the tags off of some of the stuff. So, what they usually do, they just put it on there. >> I think that's what she's about to do for the rest of the night. >> Okay. Has she concealed anything or she just tags? >> That bag right there all flat as hell. She just stuck away. >> All right, she has concealed all the merchandise in the black bag and she may be trying to swap tags on a few more items. The other standby over there. She put stuff that >> Yeah, that's what I figured. She going to get that. I don't think she gonna get another croc too long. >> All right, y'all. Just hang tight. >> She may be walking out here in just a little bit. Not sure if she's working with anybody else. >> The manager advises she might have a friend with her, but they haven't seen her concealed anything, so they're uncertain. >> I got her on camera though when they met up. >> Is this which entrance? That's the grocery sign. It was evident that from concealing merchandise to switching price tags, this had been a premeditated theft. Even the presence of an accompanying individual raised further suspicion from the police. >> Yeah, I guess she was acting as a lookout. >> Yeah, I honestly I Okay, there she is. She has another card. It looks like >> that's the book right there. Um, >> yeah. See right there? >> Be a little bit more discreet. Why don't you >> Only reason I noticed her cuz she came in here looking around. She looked scared when she first started. I would have left her alone. And she about to do it again with that. >> All right. The female in the camo jacket is currently uh swapping tickets at the register, not paying full price for merchandise. God, that girl looks like she is on something. >> I didn't want to say nothing, but I think so, too. >> There she go again. Yep. >> All the actions had become clear. The moment the suspects stepped outside, the police had a surprise waiting for them. Stop. Take it back. I'm going to have to go to customer service and get this run up. >> Okay. >> Cuz they switched a few things >> and then I'll let y'all check that before I take that. >> Sorry. I mean, I 21. >> It was clear that the dark-haired woman had begun to admit everything, while the blonde woman seemed intent on shifting all responsibility onto the other, even as police pointed out each individual's actions. >> All the stuff in the bag, she was to get that first. She was at the register using a different ticket to scan the prices. >> Skip scanning. >> Skip scan. She wouldn't even skip scan. She had a price tag for something else. She was holding on to every single item that she was scanning, >> which I it's all me. >> Well, you say it's all you, but she was the one that was scanning and she's the one who grabbed the merchandise and walked out of it. So, I told her to do it because it's my >> Whose bag is that? >> Jennifer Renee Bell, Georgia. Sorry. Sorry. Howdy. >> 059 735. >> I'm sorry. >> Who's Jennifer? >> Me. >> Yeah. >> What kind of car are they in so I can let them know what's going on? We can give him this book bag and all that stuff. in a >> sorry. >> I don't know. >> What color is it? >> Silver. >> Can we hand the phone too by any chance or no? >> Outside, a relative of one of the women had arrived at the scene. The police were then forced to explain what had happened. >> So, your friends made a stupid mistake. They're both going to jail. Okay. >> Both of them? >> Yeah. >> Oh my god. >> They're going to jail for shoplifting. >> 32. Just want to give you a heads up on that. They're in there still in merchandise and skip scan and stuff. So >> Oh, great. Awesome. >> So, I know you were here just giving them a ride, but they wanted me to let you know that. >> Thank you. >> Um, if you want to hang tight for a little bit, we'll let you know where they're going, all that stuff. We'll give you their cell phone so they don't have to worry about property and all that. So, just hang tight. I know you got a baby in the car. >> Um, so just hang tight over here. >> And, um, >> I had a feeling they were doing something stupid. >> Yeah. So, just hang tight your car and um, I'll probably get down in just a little bit. Okay. >> Okay. Y'all have anything that's going to stick down? Anything like that? She's about to search you guys. >> Nope. All right. >> I'm just going to search you. Make sure you don't have anything on you. You want to stand up for me, ma'am, please? >> All right. Just turn around. Face the chair there. All right. >> There's nothing we can do. We can't like work for Walmart to like pay off our debt or >> work for Walmart. >> You work for Walmart. >> You think they want you to work here now? >> It was evident that the arrest of the female suspects did not seem to disappoint the woman outside, raising further suspicion about whether she was involved in the incident. >> So, let me ask you, how do you know these young ladies? >> Uh, well, Mariah I met through Jen because her girlfriend met her a couple years ago, two years. Jen, I've known I guess I've known her four years now. She >> baby. My baby. >> It's your baby. >> Yeah, it's your baby. Yeah. Uh my ex-boyfriend Jason has known Jen for 20 years. So let's talk about Jen. >> Are they Are they Do they do any talk about anything? >> Um not that I know of. >> Not that you know. >> I know. No, I know Jen's car, but that's it. But she's a conversation, so I don't think she's >> Well, you'd be surprised. >> Yeah. >> Um >> why? Uh, I suspect that one or both may be on something. And if they are, I'm wondering if they put something in your car. >> Oh, what? >> Is there anything in your car we need to >> This is Jen's I don't know. They're telling me This is Jen's car. This is not my car. This Jen's car. >> This is Jen's car. Yeah. >> So, why are you driving that car? cuz you were in the driver's seat. >> Yeah, because Well, because I was saying the car was over. I mean, I might have turned anything back out. >> All right, fair enough. So, you would know if there would be anything in the car, right? So far, you know, if she smokes in the car, does any type of Have you been with her when she's not in the car? >> No. No. I have her with me everywhere, you know, wherever I go. So, and she's never mind cigarettes. Kila went a Mossman. Can you step outside? >> So this this is the brunette's car. That's what you're saying. >> Yeah, the blinds. >> The blinds. Okay. >> Returning to the suspects, officers noticed unusual behavior from the women and began to suspect possible substance use. >> Ma'am. >> Okay. So, do do you use uh >> No, sir. Oh, this is the best policy. You're right. >> So, you use >> No, I'm not saying that. >> There should be no in the car, sir. >> Okay. What? >> I've used I've used I've used >> Have you used in the car? >> No. Have you transported it in the car? >> I might have a weed pin in there, but I don't think we But I'm pretty sure it's at the house. It's like the things you buy at the gas station. >> Okay. So, no. No. >> No. >> And And you do not want me searching your car, right? >> As far as I'm concerned, there's there's no car. So, um Right. There is and I'm sorry. >> Okay. >> Where's where's your >> um in my bag? Um Yes, sir. There's a >> in one of my bag. You'll see a few of them up front in my bags. Like one one's bag like just like make a bag. >> What's in there? >> Yes sir. The situation became increasingly serious with suspicions growing that the woman outside in the parking lot was also hiding something. As a result, the police took measures to investigate further. Good boy. Good boy. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> You got uh Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Oh, let's see what we got. Cotton swabs. >> No, he he found it. Yeah, >> the uh the large baggie doesn't seal, so just be mindful with that one. But >> this one, >> yeah, it appears to be the same. >> Yeah, it's crystal. >> So, appears to be the same. Clearly using the top bottles to >> Yeah. I don't know what this is though. >> About to ask me. I don't know. I would open it. >> I'm not going to. >> This says poison. In summary, both women were charged with shoplifting and possession of narcotics, while the driver was considered innocent and stated to have had no knowledge of the suspect's actions. The situation highlights how quickly poor decisions and bad associations can escalate into serious consequences. Even actions that may seem minor at first can lead to outcomes that are far more severe once law enforcement becomes involved. On the 23rd of June 2025, police were dispatched to a Target store after the store had detained a woman for shoplifting there. Upon contact, the woman appeared confused by the officer's actions and even denied. >> Are you okay? >> Wait, can I call my dad? >> Uh, well, you can have your sister do that and you can call when you get to the jail. Okay. Stop. Don't make it. Don't catch another charge. Don't catch another charge. >> That's not Don't catch another charge. >> I didn't do anything. >> No, she bought me those. >> Oh my go. Yeah, this is all she doesn't matter. >> You got anything in the other pocket? It'll be so much easier if you say you don't. >> Wait. >> Okay, we're going to check. All right. You want to check that pocket? >> Well, I'm sorry. I don't want to go to jail. >> Oh, you should have thought about that. Even your sister is telling me outside that she's telling you how much of a bad idea this was and we should probably just put stuff back and leave. And you still did it. It could be seen that even her own family member admitted to her theft. So, there was no way for her to avoid being taken into custody at that moment. >> Um, >> wait, >> if you if you can just >> send a link and I'll put it in my name so we don't do so. >> Can I call my dad? >> You're you're under their custody. >> Can I call my dad? >> You can when you get to the jail. Okay. And then your sister can also let him know what's going on. Uh, grab that green bag. That's sister's bag. Thank you. She's outside. >> Where'd she go? >> She's around here somewhere. I told her to hang tight. I know she left already. I don't know. I told her bag was coming. I don't want >> Don't catch another charge. Everything seemed like it would end there. But the moment the patrol car door was opened, her uncooperative attitude became even stronger, making the situation more difficult for the officers. >> Please hold on. Stop. Stop. >> Sit down. Sit her down. >> No. >> They said that they told me they call. >> Please. Please. Stop. NOW my boyfriend put your hands behind your back right now. I'm not playing. Just stop. >> You're not going to be there long. Just stop. >> Stop. I'm going to jail. No. >> It was her own actions that had put her in the situation she was in. Yet, she showed no remorse, continuing to act frustrated even while sitting in the patrol car. >> Yes. Until hell. Get my shoes until >> Put your hands behind so it's not put that way. It stops. about to spend on a day or am I getting out? >> I I don't know. I would say you should be able to talk to a judge soon, but don't quote me. I don't work at the jail. >> Well, go find somewhere to charge it and then and then tell him that. Do you know what jail I'm going to? >> Yeah. County >> County. All right. I'll call you as soon as Call me as soon as you get home. Okay. I will. >> And I I tried to tell them it was my bag, but they kept blaming you. >> Doesn't matter. She was in possession of it. She was the one who punched stuff inside of it. >> Taking my shoes. >> Yeah, I'm grabbing them. I'm going to put them up front. >> So, if I do this again, I'm I'm going to the big house this time. I mean, next time. >> Dude, what? I'm sorry. I can't hear you. >> I said next time this happens, I'm going to jail for real. >> Yeah. I mean, you're going to jail for real right now. You're going to jail. I mean, but you're not going to be there forever. But if you keep doing this, you keep up on that street, then yeah, you're going to end up in the big house. >> Okay. >> So, maybe let's take uh sister's advice and not keep doing this, right? >> Okay. >> And you already knew cuz you told me there you were trespass. >> I did say she wanted to come here, >> but you don't. But you know your trespass. >> I know. >> So, hey, that should have been number one deterrent from coming here. >> But then to turn around and be trespassed and from and steal from here. >> Mhm. and not being your first time stealing from here. That's the reason why you're going to jail. Okay. >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft, criminal trespass, and resisting a peace officer. Lesson learned. Ignoring storebs, denying clear evidence, and resisting law enforcement only escalated the situation into multiple criminal charges and more serious legal consequences.
