She thought she could desperately plead while denying the theft and make herself look innocent. >> Turn around. Put your hands behind me. What happened? >> Because you're on camera stealing. >> No, no, no. >> And I showed my bag. I emptied it. I don't have anything. I don't know what I do. >> But behind her story, there was footage proving otherwise. >> Then she takes my uptime my drink and she's looking around and pop out the door. >> A wheelchair with her with her property in it. I mean, they have the video footage of her just picking it up. And >> they seemed ready to confess, but what came next was, >> "No one's happy. Sir, >> I just want my daughter, >> sir. In the name of Jesus, you're going to die." >> You'll see it all in today's video. This woman has no idea. CCTV caught everything. Starting with this woman, every lie she told was exposed by the security cameras. There's the yogurt in our hand right here. Mm. No, >> no, no, no, no, no. There is no bag. >> What y'all doing? >> On the 8th of June 2023, police were dispatched to a store after receiving a report of a theft. The suspect was reportedly a woman who had taken two items without paying, and the store even had camera footage as evidence of the incident. >> Here she is with all my stuff in her hand. She's got all my stuff right here. Two tones, one one in each hand, a white one in the over. And she boom, boom, boom, out the door. She didn't pay for a damn thing. >> Okay, hold on one second. Go ahead and uh show that again. >> There's the yogurt in her hand right here. >> Mhm. >> Then she takes my uptime, my drink >> and she's looking around and pop out the door. never went to the pressure. She came back inside and went and got a cup of ice and paid 62 cent for it. >> I didn't let her see me cuz she knows I was watching her. >> All right. Um, get me a list of all how much all that stuff cost. >> Okay. >> All of it together from all >> just today. >> That's what I got evidence for is that right there. If you got >> If you got stuff from all the other ones, go ahead. But I'm arresting her for this. >> Okay. So, I need the price of an uptime, the price of a yogurt. >> Okay. And um I'll be right back with you, but I'm going to go ahead and put her in c. >> So, police were already confident about the woman's actions. Meanwhile, she was being detained near the entrance by another officer, and the situation quickly escalated the moment she was placed under arrest. All right, go ahead. Turn around. Put your hands behind the back for me. >> What happened? >> Cuz you're on camera stealing. >> No, no, no, no, >> no, no, no, no, no. There is no >> I put back. What y'all doing? Hold on. >> Hold on. That's not >> If you resist it, you will be forced in cuffs and it will not be comfortable. >> Put your palms together. I know, man. It's like you're following me. >> You got a receipt for buying? >> I didn't purchase it. Somebody brought it for me. >> Who bought it? >> It was a one of my coworkers. >> Where they at? >> They're gone. That's why we were still sitting here. >> Still right here. Oh, right there. >> Yeah, we're going to be good right now. >> The suspect claimed that a coworker had paid for the items, but she couldn't even say who it was. It was a blatant lie, and the store employee confirmed that no one had paid for her items. >> Okay. So, >> Mhm. >> She's claiming that a coworker paid for that stuff. >> Who and where? She didn't bring it up. >> She didn't. But, um, did anyone else purchase the uptime and the yoga? Nope. >> Nobody came from that time. >> Nobody came up here because the guy that she came up here with, she had a cup of ice and he had it. So that's it. >> That's the second time. >> Hey, there's a a gentleman that just walked up saying that he wouldn't mind paying for her food and everything. I said, "Hey, go talk to Officer Bogle in there and the store manager." But >> where is he at? >> He just walked in there. Guy with a >> Well, let's go talk to him. He's got quite a list. Say again. >> Okay. Well, I'll be back in there. >> But they want, you know, it just happened in the past and >> Yeah. >> They said I'll speak with you, right? I don't know it. I'm not in it. But I just want to do a godly thing. Can I pay for whatever she took and let that be that? Well, the thing is, uh, she's got a history here, so that's between you and the manager. >> Is not and this one is a different one, >> but these these two. >> Yeah. And I've already sent them to her city manager last week. This has been ongoing. This not the first time. >> No inter today. Okay. >> So, this wasn't the woman's first similar incident. She had no idea she had already been caught, and she continued trying to shift the blame onto the mysterious coworker she claimed had paid for her items. to pick up a piece of merchandise to make sure that that item is paid for before they leave the store. >> I And that's on that person. That's the thing. I gave >> on It's on you. You picked up the item, right? >> And I gave them my stuff for them to take care of. >> Then you then you should have ensured that they paid for it >> when I came out of I >> you right now you you putting it on other people when it's it's on you. >> That's just like if you give me something and you go do what you need to do and I come to you and hand it to you. That's like a gift. So basically, you don't know if that person brought the gift or they sold the gift, but you accepting it. Right or wrong. So, and if you put something in their hand that you want, they say they going to take care of it. You giving it to them, you leaving it. >> I'll be right back. I'm going to go check and see if they got a camera for that little spot. >> Can you show me this camera? >> Yeah. Which one? What part you want to see? >> The the part where she handed it off to somebody else and they act like >> she went in the bathroom. Okay. Come on. Her continued story only made the employees even less convinced. Then additional security footage began to reveal what had really happened. >> Got my yogurt cup right there in her hand up time. >> There she went around the corner into the bathroom. That's when I came out of the office because I went to look. >> Mhm. >> There I went cuz I knew her truck was still out there. I was looking for her. So I was like, "Okay, she didn't go outside. Where did she go?" She had to go to the bathroom. So I went around the corner. She ducked into the stall. >> Mhm. So I came back out and said, "I'm just going to wait." Cuz I talked to him when he came in, asked if he knew who she was. And I stood right here at this corner and waited for her to go out before I called. >> And where was the merchandise machine? >> Her hand. Let me show you. >> Okay. >> Up time up under her arms. up time. No grip. Not handing it off to nobody. >> Nope. Get her in. And she lied to you. >> Thank you kindly. >> You're welcome. >> I was trying to get my ducks throw off. [laughter] >> We appreciate it. >> What's going on? >> Are you the one that she's saying paid for her stuff? >> I paid for it first thing this morning cuz um >> What did you pay? What' you pay for? A >> cup of ice. >> Okay. Yeah, we got that. The ice was paid for. Mhm. >> This other two items. >> Well, I don't know about other type. I wasn't I don't know nothing about that. >> Well, there it is. >> Yeah. I don't know about >> Yeah, I figured you didn't cuz the security camera would indicate you weren't there. >> I wasn't even a on the camera when she was stealing. So, >> I appreciate you. Thanks for coming back. >> Yeah. >> Um Yeah, you paid for a cup of ice. That's on the record. >> Now, I want you to be in charge of two other things. >> In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting. Lies may buy someone a little time, but camera footage and solid evidence can quickly expose the truth. Once you're caught, shifting the blame onto someone else only makes the situation worse. [music] Next, let's head to the airport to see how this grandmother ended up becoming the thief. >> Almost 2 days I did go without my flight was this. She said she said I took it. I asked did I take it in my bag and walk out of sore. On the 27th of March 2026, the Dallas Fort Worth Airport Police Department received a report from a store about a theft. The suspect was reportedly an elderly woman who had taken a bottle of perfume without paying and walked away. Officers then had to confirm the suspect's identity using the footage captured by the store. >> Do I have the videos of the two? >> And you said she's at C terminal where >> they she didn't check the other bag, but she said she didn't have anything, but she went into 7-Eleven before the back. So keep following her until he gone. And then >> they're with her. They're with her. >> Who's with her? >> Uh Elizabeth. >> Yeah. Our manager, she was there. They found her. We told her. >> Where did they find her? >> She is right now in the restaurant by the TGI Fridays. >> Uh C. >> Yes. Terminal C. >> Okay. Hold on. >> Do you have somebody closer to C that can go there? Tell them that >> police is going. But we have >> Now hold on. Y'all ain't going to be just pulling no bags on nobody. Okay. That's my job, right? >> Uh, hey, this is David, too. Uh, apparently the individual who stole the merchandise, the the perfume, she's currently at C7 in the bathroom. C7, right? >> Yes. By Friday. >> By TGIF by TGIF Fridays in the women's bathroom. >> Are they inside? I don't know. I don't know where. >> Yes. Uh, they have her on video. >> Yeah. She's an elderly white woman with gray short hair and she has a white shirt on >> bathroom and she took her box with her. >> She has a white shirt on and what is that? What is this? Is that a dress? >> Purple sweater >> and a purple sweater tied around her back and she has like a wheel she she has like a wheelchair. >> Oh, she Yeah, she's pushing a wheelchair with her with her property in it. and they have the video footage of her just picking it up and putting it in her bag. >> The officers then found the woman nearby. Before they could even say anything, she immediately started explaining herself as if she was trying to gain the officer's sympathy. >> So, so you have the merchandise. >> I both of my bags. >> It's been almost 2 days. I hit the street. My flight was this I mean delayed. Wait, I missed my connection and they changed the gate. I am my mouth fried. They said now they're going to put me on different flight and I was just running like a chicken with our head. I don't know what the heck I did in the store. As soon as she came, I s they are following me. It was suspicious. And I showed my bag. I emptied it. I don't have anything. I don't know what did I do? What did I put? I don't have it. I don't know why she's bothering me. Why she's hassling me and she is there's a video of you taking >> I know that what she said. She said I took it. I asked did I take it? Put it in my bag and walk out of the store. >> I don't know. I don't know. I did not I did. And then listen to this. I show both my bags before I go to the dress room like I feed myself. I my now she tells me I don't know maybe you put it in a in a >> show me one bag and then I'm empty still is open it's we're going to walk through this okay >> cal I ma'am calm down >> okay >> in her statements she tried to portray herself as the victim while accusing the employee of harassing her clearly attempting to shift the situation in her favor She then continued with a confusing story to insist that she was innocent. >> I put in my bag and walk out of the store. There are all cameras in here. >> So, you can follow me. What did I do with that? >> I have cameras to the store, >> right? I know. That's what I'm saying. There are cameras, right? And my bags. Okay. >> Can you copy a report? >> Okay. If we search your bags, >> show the perfumes on in there. >> Please go ahead and do that. >> Okay. >> This is gate 11. Meet with Amy, flight attendant. >> She wants to meet with an officer because her shoulder bag was taken off of an aircraft. A white female wearing an AA uniform. So why why would >> we have some videos? >> I know, but I almost >> uh full size should be right. They should be full size. >> Okay. >> She confidently insisted that there was nothing in her bags and told the officer to search them freely. The missing item was not found because she had reportedly hidden it somewhere else in the airport. >> So, what stores have you went into? What stores? >> You don't know where you went. You have no idea. >> I don't I did go to in store. >> You never went into a store. >> One just that perfume. >> Yes. You didn't go into 7-Eleven. >> I did to get bothered. So you went into the store >> just >> Yeah. You didn't go into 7-Eleven. >> I did to get bothered. >> So you went into 7-Eleven. >> She was in the place that we founded. She passed away. She passed away. So, there's video of you in 7-Eleven, >> right? So, I put it there. >> Why did you take it? You said you didn't take it. >> No, I I didn't say I didn't take it. >> You said you didn't take anything out. >> That's what you said. >> I don't know. She found this in some. I don't know where this came from. >> What is it? I think it's something there. >> No, it's not there. >> You You don't know what it is. Where did it come from? >> Yes. >> Perhaps the woman's age had caused her to become confused about what she had done. Or perhaps she had become so caught up in her own lies that she kept building another story to defend herself. At this point, the officers made their decision. >> Go ahead and stand up. >> Arrest me. >> Yes, ma'am. >> I don't want nothing. Well, you'll go to jail and then >> So, anyway, >> go ahead and stand up. >> Can I talk to her for a minute? >> Nope. Go ahead and stand up. >> Could you ma'am? Go ahead. I'm sorry. >> I'm sorry. I got to go with my son. >> Take a step. >> He's going to have a surgery. I need to >> We're going to turn you this way. Turn you this way so you're not facing her. You want to use your cuff still? Okay. >> Um, yeah. I got to get this. >> Where was it again? Was it on the other side? >> It was right here where the energy >> bar apprentice hopefully. >> Are they legible this time? >> Of course. >> Okay. >> But can I Yeah, you should be able to go right in front of the car over here. Okay. >> In the end, she was charged with theft. Her story kept changing, but the lesson [music] is simple. When there is clear evidence, trying to redirect the situation or build a new explanation may only make things worse. [music] Sticking to the truth is far better than creating more stories that can later be contradicted. Next, this woman showed no shame at all, even stealing clothes twice in one day. >> I'm coming. >> I'm coming. >> Just make a shirt. >> Put the tank top on and the >> baby fox >> and whatever's in your bag plus this. On the 8th of May 2025, police approached a woman who had just pushed a shopping cart out through the back door after shopping at Walmart. There was nothing unusual about it until she was reportedly [music] found with multiple unpaid items. Here's what happened next. >> I'm coming. I'm coming. Just make a shirt. >> I'm sorry. >> Other hand. >> You came in here with a different shirt on, right? >> Yeah. Because I have no clothes. I'm homeless. I have no clothes. >> Were you in my store earlier today? >> Probably. You know if you were not. You think you did the same thing, right? >> Okay. So you just been in my store in and out all day stuff >> earlier today and now. So are those the shorts you took too inside a tank top? I just put it on with your clothes cuz I'm so you put the tank top on and the shorts >> and whatever's in your bag plus this. >> It turned out this wasn't the woman's first time there. Yet even after everything was discovered, she seemed to show no shame at all. >> What? No, >> you cannot use the restroom. >> Don't pee on my bench. >> I won't. >> Where you want to put all this stuff? >> In the bag. Take the bag away. >> Just take the stuff out of it. >> You want to go grab a blue basket? >> Yeah. Stuff ear. >> You just got one pair of shorts on or >> tail? >> Why are your pants wet? Look, I just cleaned up in the hose. >> You what? >> I just cleaned up in the hose. >> Okay. >> My friend's house. >> Well, if you set out in the sun, it would have dried. >> I know, but that's one thing I have to wear. >> What about the stretching [music] pant that you earlier? What? >> It's wet. >> Oh, it's on wet. >> That it's the pink one. >> Yeah, it's wet. >> So, you heard that, right, Erison? The ignition of guilt for the pink one that she came in and spelled earlier. >> Yeah. So, Angela, she did have an admission of the pink shirt that she has. >> We just heard you. That's the one that she took earlier. >> Two shirts, shorts. >> No, you cannot. You cannot. >> Why do you want to go to the bathroom? You have to go to the bathroom. Get everything on you. >> No, you cannot. GODAMN. SO, WHAT you got to do? In fact, the woman admitted that she wasn't carrying anything on her. She said she stole simply because she saw it as a form of entertainment. So, she now lay back comfortably in the chair, ready to face whatever came next. >> That's not how this works. That is dumb. >> Let me tell you how this is going to work. Okay. Officer Carmela is going to search you. She finds crack pipes all the damn time. Do you have anything illegal on you? Well, she's going to find it if you >> I said I don't know where it is. >> Okay. Where is it? >> I don't know. Look. >> There's one on you. >> I don't know. >> You don't know if there's last January, I went to contra had a crack underneath my titty and I didn't know it was there cuz my tits were being No, I don't know. >> Is that a good enough answer? >> No. >> I don't know why you're these people. Because I'm a and I do my job >> because she doesn't know what people are going through in their personal lives. >> Well, people can go through a lot, but you can't be stealing stuff, you know. >> Stuck in there. >> This what's going to keep happening >> now? You see why you got stuck in there? I got you. You got a bunch of shirts on. I just don't see an extra charge at jail. >> Given her responses, police began to question whether she had used any drugs. They then had to check to make sure she wasn't hiding anything on her. Not even there. >> See the black shorts still have the tag on. >> But those are the doors. This is sweating. Going where? >> What's that? >> Oh, okay. Is that even? >> Okay. Go a bit. Lean up against the wall for me. And then wide in your stand a little bit more. There you go. You got nothing up there, right? She's good. >> In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting. Stealing is still a crime. Even when someone treats it like a game or claims they have nothing to lose, a casual attitude toward theft can quickly turn a simple shoplifting incident into much more serious consequences. Next, this man thought his fake check would actually work at Walmart. >> You can't tell me my check is fake, sir. This is what I'm saying. I would have been rent or anything if this was fake. >> Just let me go about my way. I'm not doing nothing wrong. >> One of the cameras back. I never been here. >> On the 21st of July 2026, police were dispatched to [music] Walmart after receiving a report of a man attempting to cash a treasury check worth more than $1,000. But it seemed he already had an excuse ready, hoping to use it to defend himself once officers confronted him. >> I just got from the hospital literally. >> I don't know what's going on. >> Like I said, I saidology asking simple question. [clears throat] >> They're having a problem with broadse. That's why we so they had a big issue. >> Why didn't they call them on me? I didn't even get the cash. They called. They said that this is your second time here today. >> No, sir. I never came here. >> Make it suspicious. >> Yeah, you guys can run the cameras back, everything. I've never been here today. >> That's fine. We're just >> We're just asking. We just have to never been here today. Our check is totally legit, sir. Nothing wrong with I don't know what what I'm getting profiled for. It's crazy, but this is my first time here. >> I hear you. >> Never been here. >> Do you know what profiling means? >> No, but they said I've been here twice today. Right. This is my first time here. Why am I making a call on me? Because of something that's happened to somebody else. Then my check is legit. So >> what what's the problem? I'm not understand. >> All right. >> Do you have any more of these checks on you? >> No. >> You sure if I check your bag? >> Yes. Go ahead, sir. >> All right. >> Whatever you mean. There's nothing. There's nothing on me. My ID. I have all my stuff. That's all. Wonderful. I'm I'm an artist, bro. I'm a real artist. I don't have nothing going on. >> What's your name? >> Anything going on? >> Oh, you got another phone? Just weed? Nothing. >> Crazy. Profile ever like this in my life. profiling me >> like blaming somebody for doing something that I didn't do. Sir, >> that's not >> He repeatedly appeared confused, asking numerous questions that revealed a cautious attitude. Making things even more suspicious, he continued giving unclear explanations about the check. >> What's the problem, sir? Why Why am I standing right here? Why can't I cash my check? >> They're not going to let you cash your check here. I just need >> I need to confirm that. Like, I'm not understanding what's the problem. He's requiring what? What you trying to say? >> Who is the other person on this check? >> That's who? >> That's my auntie. >> That's the other person on the check. >> Hello. >> Yeah. Look, I don't know what what's going on. I don't know why they pressuring me right here. I don't know why they ask me questions, sir. I don't have the answer, but this is a legit mistake, sir. >> Lance 145. Can we get a CQ on Brian? What's what's the problem? >> Who's the other person I was trying to? >> That's my auntie. >> What's her name? >> I don't have to tell you that, sir. Why don't you >> unless you tell me her name? >> Sir, I don't Why am I getting profiled, sir, for this? I'm not understanding, sir. >> Profiling me. >> But I haven't been here today. Y'all is charging me with something that I'm not even doing. Why am I getting called for something I didn't do? >> We told you already. >> It's no problem, sir. Run the cameras back, sir. I never been here today. This is my check. >> But for now, we have to ask some questions. Okay. And we have to talk to somebody. >> But you guys can tell if it's a fake check or not, sir. This is not a fake right here. >> This is my check, sir. Confirm by asking the information on the check. >> I don't have to answer this, sir, because it's not fake and I've never been here before, sir. Why am I getting profiled like this, sir? >> It's not helpful for this. >> I have to get back to the hospital with my daughter, sir. I can't stand I would go somewhere else and cash my check. I never been here before. >> Okay. >> You can't tell me my check is fake, sir. He continued questioning the officer, insisting that they had the wrong person. But when the officer began asking whether he had been to Walmart before, things became even more suspicious. >> This is crazy. >> I've never been through nothing like this ever. >> I understand. >> You're speaking for saying I've been here twice. I've never been here. >> We are just telling you the information that we received. >> One of the camera's back, sir. What time was somebody here that looks like me, sir? It's one of me. >> Okay. >> I never been here before, sir. you stop. >> I can maybe separate from him, get somebody else here to hang out with you and then I can confirm with them if you have or have not been here. >> But you continue to yell and that's not helpful to the situation. >> Okay. >> This is crazy. >> Can you please hang up the phone? >> Okay, >> I have to go. >> We are trying to ask you normal questions about the check. Okay. So who is the other person? >> Why do I have to answer your answer? >> This is my check. I don't have to do that. That's the freedom. I don't have to ask. >> If it was your check, you would know who else was on it. >> Sir, I don't question, sir. Go. Go ask them. I can go cash my check. You got to stop. I don't have to do this. >> You got to stop yelling, >> sir. I don't have to do this with y'all. I'm trying to get back to my daughter, sir. I have to go see my daughter. My daughter was just born. Understand? >> I can't stay here. >> Let me see the bracelet. >> Look, my daughter was just born July 16th. My girlfriend's in the hospital, sir. I'm trying to get back to bait. I don't I don't know why I'm getting profiled by twice. I never been. Run the camera. >> Profiles. >> I never been profiled. >> Like, this is crazy, man. >> You're just upset. Okay, you got to calm down. >> Like, I never been here before. Run the cameras back there, please. Just run them back and let me go cash my check somewhere else. It's like >> we need you to just chill so that I can go in there and finish my investigation. >> You understand me? >> You can do that, sir. >> The man had nothing to prove that his claims were true. He continued talking non-stop, even resorting to fake crying as he tried to make his story more convincing. >> My daughter, man, y'all crazy, man. Y'all could just let me go, bro. And just let me go about my way. I'm not doing nothing wrong. >> Going to let you go because >> the cameras back. I never been here. I am planning on it when you calm down and I can separate from you. >> This is my first time in here today, man. >> Okay, that's fine. >> That's fine. This is crazy. >> Okay. Again, where is your cousin? >> I don't know where he parked at, bro. He parked right there from I don't know. He dropped me off at the front door. >> Did he leave you? >> No, he didn't leave me. Why would he leave me for it? >> Can you get him to come back? >> Yes. Okay. >> What's the problem? Like, it's not no problem, sir. I'm not understanding. >> Yeah. Pull right here cuz grab me. Yeah, bro. Yeah, I'm good, bro. I don't know why they doing this. I don't know why. They said this is my second time being here today. This is my first time being here. They said they going to run the cameras back to see if I've been here today. I never been here today. I don't know what's the problem, bro. >> Like, why am I Why are they Why are they turning me? >> I never been even been in here before. This is crazy, man. Stand by. >> He said he want to run the camera back. I'm telling him to run it back. >> Is he coming? >> Yes, he's coming. He's right here. Come right here, Co. So they won't think nothing. >> He kept talking relentlessly, even interrupting the officers as if trying to convince them at all costs. But realizing that his words were not winning them over, he then turned to his family, hoping to gain their sympathy. >> Our daughter goes to the hospital. My daughter was your daughter. Yeah. >> Just born or she just up there getting treatment. >> Oh, my daughter was just born. Okay. Nothing going on. >> My daughter's going through page. I'm on my way. I'm on my way from home. Getting changed my clothes. It's all right. Try to >> Where you live at? >> And that car is taking off on us. >> Give me your phone. >> Audi Audi twice. I can't get mad at me because >> All right. You're detained for investigation. Okay. And you got some weed on you. >> You just said I just told y >> I don't have nothing. >> Okay. Just deal with it. >> All right. >> You act like we're new to this. Okay. He was charged with felony forgery after admitting the treasury check had been altered to include his name and that he had purchased it on the street. [music] Police also linked him to a previous forgery case involving multiple altered checks. Honesty is often the simplest way to handle a police investigation. Once someone starts giving inconsistent explanations without evidence to support them, continued excuses and emotional appeals can only make the situation more suspicious. Next, this woman turned a simple theft into a chaotic incident with multiple victims. Is >> happy. I just want my daughter, >> sir. In the name of Jesus. >> My leg with her teeth. >> I sucked her a couple times in the head. No effect. >> On the 21st of July, 2023, officers [snorts] on patrol received a 911 call about a confrontation that had taken place. The victim was reportedly robbed of her phone by a woman who then walked away. But things were far more dangerous than that. Let's listen to the conversation to find out what happened. >> I am on Picacho over by Ness's Cafe and a woman has just taken my telephone away from me because she believes I have her daughter and she is walking across the street now towards Nessus and she has my phone in a pink case and I'm trying to follow her because she's got my phone. >> Okay. And she just barely took it. >> Her name Her name is Her last name is Moore. She says she's looking for a daughter named Kayla Sanchez that she insists the military has taken away from her up the street there. I've left my vehicle wide open and I'm trying to follow her because she's got my life in that damn telephone. And uh >> Do you know her? How did she get phone? >> No, of course I don't know her. She just walked up to me randomly on the street as I was getting in to the car at Johnston Hardware here on Love Cruises on Picato Avenue. >> Okay, ma'am. Officers out there. Okay. >> Okay. She just knocked me down. Oh, I'm not okay. 911. The woman has my telephone in the pink in pink case that's about to cross in front of where the train is coming where all the cars are stopped. >> Okay. She's going to be on the other side of the train track in a minute. And she's she's still got my phone. I got her jacket, but she's still got my phone. >> Okay. >> Which way is she heading? >> I'm sorry. What? >> Which way is she heading? >> East. >> East. Okay. The officer soon found the suspect matching the description. She made the situation even more dangerous by recklessly running into the main road, but that was only the beginning of everything that would soon escalate. >> Well, hey, hey, hey. >> My daughter is >> Let's stand over here. Okay. >> Huh? >> Well, give me my daughter. >> Oh, yeah. That's what I want to help you with. >> Do you need a partial to my life? My husband has abusive >> and he just went to the extreme to keep her. I don't know why he did all this. Well, here. Let's talk more about it in the shade. >> No, sir. Okay. >> Hold on. Don't go in the street either. Okay. >> My tank is >> I don't want you to get run over. Hey, >> ma'am. Hey, >> don't get out of the car. >> Look, you can't >> hold up there. >> Look. Sir, no. >> Sir, I just want my daughter. >> Sir, in the name of Jesus, you're going to die. Nope. Sir, I want my daughter. Okay, sir. I'll quick. >> Stop. Okay. >> Okay. >> Get on your stomach then. Get on your stomach. >> No. Let me get off your stomach. >> Sir, help me. Sir. Sir. Let me get up then. >> Sir, now pinch your TV. Sir, >> hold on. >> I will do it, sir. My >> Hold up. >> After the struggle, the woman was taken back to the nearby store area to keep her out of traffic. It seemed the chaos she had caused had also left her with some injuries. >> Please don't leave me witnesses. >> It's cuz you're pregnant. I kind of >> right where the master unit parked. That's pretty much where it happened. Like right in front of us. >> I don't even know where he is. >> Okay. >> That's just where my daughter came out to me. Yeah, it's a 617 East Pikachu. >> How's your leg, bud? You all right, buddy? >> I haven't I haven't been bit in years. >> I took a took a stab her face. She didn't didn't even face her. >> All right, we'll get some photographs for you, my friend. Okay. >> I hope not. Was she What she do? >> What are you guys doing? My daughter, >> this officer was struggling to take her into custody and I >> Oh, you stopped at >> Okay, >> sir. I want to take apologize cuz my husband's family dresses up like you. >> They go to LSU. >> Definitely charges for what it's worth. >> I'm truly sorry. Look at my lips. Look at my lip. >> You would that try from corrections. >> I'm sorry. I thought you were Look at my lips. A few officers then spoke with witnesses about what they had seen. Their statements confirmed the woman's wrongdoing and revealed how an innocent bystander had also been caught up in the incident. >> Okay. Because she had blood, you know, >> when when you saw her, she already had blood. >> Uh when they picked her up, they were wrestling on the floor right here with her and we pulled in and we stopped and we started recording. >> Okay. >> And uh >> like Yeah. Watch. Hold on. I have the recording right here. you okay? >> It was like 52 seconds. >> She's hurting a cop. >> I was like, she's hurting a cop. >> So, when you pulled up, they were already >> They were already fighting on the street. When we pulled up, >> so >> they got here after the fact. >> Okay. She was fighting with who? >> Uh with with an officer >> or with Donna? >> This one. >> Okay. The >> There was two of them, right? There was two officers. It was the the one that was in this car. The one that's bleeding and the f the officer by the window. >> The sheriff. The one in the brown. >> No, the one in the brown pants in green. And then the one right in front of the young lady >> with a beard. Okay. Okay. >> Yeah. So, they got here officer >> coming down the road. >> Suspect darting out on the street followed by the officer trying to pull her back and she's trying to escape. things progressed and she ended up out of the lanes of traffic with him trying to take him down to take custody and she was kicking screaming and jumping and I could see that he was like the hand remember >> to my leg with her teeth. >> I sucked her a couple times in the head and had no effect. >> Super windy. >> But this is not bleeding. This is red. >> Okay. >> You want an alcohol prep to like stop? >> It's not really bad or anything. Okay. >> Both the officer and the innocent bystander were injured in the chaos the woman had caused. Meanwhile, the phone theft victim was also there giving her statement about the woman's troubling actions. >> Did it happen here at the >> No, no, no. So, I I I came out of Johnson's Hardware with a gallon of paint in my hand, my phone, and a little lock mechanism that I had them fix for me in the other. And I went to my car. I I opened up the car on the side where I was going to put the paint in, >> which was the passenger front seat. >> And I was and I cleared that out a little bit to put the because my car is just a mobile storage unit, right? So, I cleared that front part out, put the paint on the can, paint can on the floor, and I had the door open. And this woman is approaching from the north on Third Street on the side of the street where I'm parked, not on the sidewalk, but in the street, and she's already talking to me, but I'm a little harder hearing, so I can't really hear what she's saying, but I was pretty sure she was talking to me. When she got closer to the car, I said, "Are you speaking to me?" And she said, "Yes, I want my daughter." And I said, "Okay, I don't know anything about your daughter." "Yes, you do. You She's in your car. You have her in the car. You have my daughter in your car. >> And you have no You have no idea who this lady is." Okay. >> Call 911. >> Right. >> Well, I didn't make it that far because I got in the car and I start to start the car and she opens the back door in back of me on the driver's side and grabbed my phone from between the seats and she said, she held it up. She says, "I've got your phone and I'm not giving you your phone back until you give me your do my daughter." And I said, "Well, then let's look in the car. I'm not going to take everything out, but you can certainly see in the car if your daughter's in here or not." So, she sticks her head in and she says, "Kayla. Kayla, come out." So, I said, "Is your daughter's name Kayla?" And she said, "Yes." And I said, "What's her last name?" And she said, "Sanchez." And I said, "Is that your last name?" She said, "No, my last name is Moore." But this was a little farther ahead because by that time she's walking away. You know, I didn't say it that way, but I basically said, you know, do do you are they better off on the street or are they better off in the jail cell? >> Well, she's going to she's already under arrest for other >> Beatric Diaz Ward was charged with burglary of a vehicle, lararseny, resisting, battery on a peace officer, and battery. What may have started with a stolen phone ended with injuries and multiple criminal charges. Next, this man thought he had every right to get angry after being caught stealing thousands of dollars worth of meat. >> We just charged him with with today's they never reported. I asked you question. Shut the >> talking to me like that. Shut up. Stop talking to me like that. On the 20th of February 2023, police approached a man who was reportedly caught stealing at the Shopright on 900 Madison Street. After leaving everything behind and walking out of the store when he was spotted, he completely denied any involvement when police questioned him about the incident. >> Do me a favor. Just hang out here. You match the description of the person that shop inside. So, >> I didn't. But I I put things in my bag, but I never took anything. >> So, now you change the story. You said you >> I told you I shot them in my bag. >> All right. Where's your bag? >> Inside the store, sir. >> Why you left it inside? I told you I left my card at home. >> Okay, but why you left your bag in there? That's your bag. Why didn't you just put the stuff back? >> Take your bag with you. >> What's the difference? >> Isn't that your property? Right. Your bag. You came with a bag and you shopping with your bag. >> But I I left the bag. What's the difference? You know what I'm doing? >> Oh, it just doesn't make sense. Why would you leave your bag? >> But I didn't shop with nothing. >> Okay. You got you got any ID on you? >> No. >> No ID on you? >> What's your name? >> Marcus. >> Marcus what? >> Martinez. >> Marcus. Sir, it's still birth. >> Although he continued to deny any wrongdoing, his story may have been nothing more than a lie as store employees had a very different account, claiming this was not the suspect's first time. Great. >> Good morning. >> Morning. >> All right. This gentleman here has stolen over $7,000 of shrimp, um, bacon, and other merchandise. >> Okay. You've reported in the past, those reports. >> Yeah. Okay. Uh, my guy in security has everything upstairs. We have about $1,000 today. >> All right. So, was he watching him physically or watching him on the >> There was We were watching him um through the camera. >> Okay. >> All right. I have his bags up here. >> Obviously, because it's that size and he comes in almost every day. Yeah. >> We want to charge him on a square since it's a large amount. >> I can get I I'm new here. I only know certain things. >> But we got videos from all his times that he's been here, >> right? >> Yeah. Um he's been hitting us. >> This the whole baker. >> All right. So he was pouring everything in here. >> Yeah. And he was going to walk out the door and then once he got >> nothing in here, right? >> So this is everything that he had. He had everything all the way. >> How much is that worth? >> We're going to check right now. They going maybe about I think 12,000 piece. So we're going to cover everything else. He's been hitting us for a while now. >> All right. No other ones that you already >> We got working on on on video. We haven't been able to >> No, I'm not going to say the other ones. Yeah, we haven't been able to record it cuz it's been happening only in the morning. >> Okay. >> But we have video on it. >> Yeah. >> Last time it was like >> Yeah, we could just >> All right. >> We're on a quick fil. >> So, you was watching him on the camera and and you saw him on the floor as well. >> Yeah. Like cuz once I was in him on break, I saw him. Wait, wait. The guy's here. >> Yeah. >> I recognized him quick cuz he wore the same stuff every time. >> All the employees recognized the man, making his involvement appear even more suspicious. Meanwhile, the stolen merchandise was being checked. And although it was all reportedly stake, the quantity suggested this was more than just a one-time theft. So he's a 25. So they're going to be bringing him up. Uh we'll see if we can properly identify that issue. >> They cut all wood smoke. kind of got so many different >> Yeah. >> I mean, it's going to be invitable. >> Oh, yeah. No, definitely. >> He's probably got like anywhere between 12 and $14 each. >> Right here. You got 212. >> Yeah. It's going to be like $500. The merchandise was valued at up to $7,000 in meat, shrimp, and other food products, making the man's earlier claim that he was simply shopping even more suspicious. Police then decided to take action. So, >> you came out here from shopping? Yeah. >> But you left without it? Cuz >> I decided I came in front of home. I I do it every month, man. I'll be around. >> Did you have bags for you when you came in? Is there any Do is any reason why we're here right now? >> Because they said they seen me put things in a bag, but I left the bag inside. I didn't pass I didn't go past no registers, nothing like that. Like, >> you ever been arrested before? >> No. >> Never. >> I don't know. >> I don't know. So, just to get the story, you were shopping, putting items in the bag as you were shopping. >> Wait till you drop that mail. I was going to be a 25, >> but then you left the bag. All right. You can search on half, bro. >> All right. So, just turn around quick. >> Put your hands up. >> Yes. For what? >> We'll find out. >> It's over radio. >> You have anything in your pockets? >> No. >> Nothing's going to stab me. You hurt me. I got syringes. But the caps are on them. >> Which pocket are it is? >> I'll get them reach. I'm not going to lie. Put the caps on. >> All right. I'll reach. >> Caps are on. You sure? Right. We got syringes here. This is what I'm going to do. >> I'm going to take this coat off. All right. >> Yeah. >> Go ahead. Pull that arm out. >> All right. Anything else in these pockets? >> Uh, there probably might be some syringes in there. So, another >> All right. I'm going to take everything out of your pocket and put it all in your coat. All right. >> Who am I being arrested for? >> We're going to find that out. Sergeant just told me on the radio that he he's going to gonna be on. >> But it didn't end there. Even after being taken to the station, he continued to act as though he had no idea what he was being charged with. However, his defiant attitude quickly turned the situation into a heated argument. >> Man, what I'm being charged with? >> Well, I'm charging you with the drugs. >> All right. >> When they get up here, we'll figure out what the other charges are. after they get charged with shoplifting or anything. All right, have a seat. >> But where else could it be than shoplifting? >> All right, then that's what it is then, right? >> I mean, like, bro, got to beat around the bush. >> I'm not beating around the bush. Did you hear me get any more information, man? >> Because you're questioning me and I'm giving you now you're cursing, you disrespect me for no reason. >> Because I'm giving you an answer and you don't like the answer. >> What are you juicing up or something like that? You going through your little your little mental issues like what's wrong with you, bro? >> Small up, >> bro. Bro, shut up. Relax. >> But stop disrespecting me then, man. I disrespect you. You are the way you want. I ASKED YOU QUESTIONS. SHUT THE UP. >> STOP TALKING TO ME LIKE THAT. >> I don't give A STOP TALKING TO ME LIKE THAT. YOU SPITTING MY FACE. STOP TALKING. >> CALM DOWN. >> STOP TALKING TO ME LIKE THAT. >> CALM DOWN. >> HEY, this for no reason. >> I'm giving YOU AN ANSWER. YOU DON'T LIKE THE ANSWER, [ __ ] >> THERE GO. THERE GOES YOUR [ __ ] DISRESPECT. [ __ ] Calm down, my man. Calm down. >> In the end, the man was charged with shoplifting. >> [snorts] >> Denying what happened does not erase the evidence, especially when store employees and surveillance footage tell a different story. Trying to maintain the same story after being confronted can only make the situation [music] more difficult. >> She was going to do so. >> Okay. >> And that's what happened. I never walked. I never pushed little boy behind the puppets. >> He thought I paid. I thought he paid. >> That is a very interesting theory. Yes. Okay. On the 3rd of September 2026, officers approached a residential area believed to be the home of two suspects connected to a previous theft at a public store. A man appeared shortly after. Let's see how he reacted to this unexpected encounter. >> Hello. >> Hey, how you doing? Can we talk to you? >> For you may >> How you doing, sir? All right. So, let me see. >> Okay, guys. or what? >> Okay, listen. Um, I need to ask you a few questions. >> What is it about? >> This is about the public's uh and key plaza. All right. So, but before I do that, I need to read you your rights. >> Wait a minute. Wait a minute. >> Sure. Of course. >> Okay. What What is What is it like? I mean, >> it's a criminal investigation. There was some Yeah. >> All right. Okay. So, basically, um, there were a few beverage items stolen from, uh, public speak plaza. >> Okay. >> And they provided me the video footage. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Okay. Okay. Sure. Go ahead. >> Did they see me take anything out of out of public? >> Yes. >> I didn't take anything out of public. >> Were you at Publix? >> I was at public. Listen to this. >> Okay. >> And the young lady that I was with, >> who was >> the young lady that I was with, she was um she said she going to pay for my items, which >> Mhm. >> I didn't push anything out of that school. >> That's was what the good lady. >> Is she just a friend of yours or family? >> Yeah, she's a friend of mine. She was supposed to um pay for the stuff. >> Mhm. >> I didn't walk out of no basket or anything at the school. Okay. I needed some some um insurance and stuff and she said she'll pay for her car or whatever she had. I never walked out of puppies with no um >> Where's this go? >> She lives in Port. But I never let go. I never my heart's everybody right here with me. I never walked out of here. I put them in the basket for her. She said she was gonna do something for it. He continued shifting the blame to the woman who was with him, claiming that she was supposed to pay for the items. But the officers noticed other details that made his story difficult to believe. >> Yeah, but I can see all those stuff were being loaded into your vehicle because the handicap spot. >> And you didn't pay attention that all those items were not in bags. >> Well, you can't put um insurers on. >> What is it? The insure. insure like the >> she had an insure and she had some >> was insure like the like drinks and she had some other stuff was in the body but her sodas that she had whatever she had her solders and stuff was never in the body but I never never push anything out of >> you stuff from the shelf >> okay it's it's on video yeah >> I know that I know that I take it from the shelf and I put it in for her okay I left cuz she said she was going to pay for her stuff on the car and it's I'm going to answer everybody here I never and when she came outside I thought she paid cuz she had her buy and she had a receipt in her hand and she had her bike, other stuff in her bike and she put it into and now I put in the I thought she paid for it but I never never that's all I never took out because I'm store. >> Were you with her the entire time? >> No. >> No. >> So you walked out from the store first and then she followed you with the car, right? >> She walked out she w No out before. >> So you left before? >> Yeah. Okay. >> And I guess she came up I didn't go to No, I didn't. >> No, no. You came to the vehicle together? >> Yeah. I walked out before saying he left the store, but I never I left the store before her and then she came after you. I never >> What you're trying to say? >> Yes, sir. But I never >> I never >> I've never known you to be a thief. >> No. >> A few hours later, the second suspect, the woman involved in the story, arrived at the police station after being summoned. She also gave a story that was almost identical. >> It was like walking and talk at the same time or whatever. So, >> I thought Okay. >> Cuz went by the cells. I thought he paid for us and he thought >> you talk to me >> and he thought I paid for. So it so happened that they say that we didn't pay for. So we were like talking and we need to silence the phone because I'm having hard time understanding what you're saying >> and we um end up walking out but it wasn't the intention of stealing them or taking them. He pays off and I thought he paid off. >> All right. Listen um just to determine the details >> I need to ask you a few questions. But the way it works, I have to read you your rights before that. Okay? Just listen to me very carefully having these questions in mind. Are you willing to speak to me? All right. So, um, you just told me that you and Mr. >> were in Publix and then you got some stuff, some those insured beverages. >> You put them in the golf cart. I mean the in the shopping cart and then you went out from the store and he was saying you thought that he paid. >> Yes. He went and he went to check out things and I would and I stopped to customer service and I was talking to them. So at the same time he thought I paid and I thought he paid. That's when he said that money said come on let's go. But I thought he paid for and he thought I paid for. It wasn't like intention was to take him from the store. >> All right. Uh on the video footage I don't even see you passing by the cashier counters. You went out from the store by the flower section. >> Yeah we would. Yeah I had stopped and I was talking. You didn't see me stopped and was talking to Deborah, the c the one of the scum manager of the stone. >> No, I did not see that. >> Yeah, I had stopped and me and Deborah me and Deborah was talking. >> Okay. And then you stop and then you just went out >> and then then we went out because when he when he when they when when Mr. Johnson called me, he said, "Come on." He said, "I'm finished." So I thought, you know, he was already paying. So I thought he Well, >> she confidently answered the officer's questions, but her own story revealed a few details that would later raise questions for the officers. When you pay the stuff, right, the cashier scans the stuff with this little device. >> How could he have paid for it if that stuff was with you? >> Because the stuff wasn't with me at first. He had the basket first and then when we came around before we got to the register, he gave you the basket when we got to the deli. >> You mean the shopping cart? >> The shopping cart. We had stopped. We was even going We even stopped to the deli to get a sandwich. But the deli line was long. So then after we he didn't get the sandwich. That's when I got the shopping cart. That way when he said that when he said come on then he said come on let's go. The line was too low cuz the auntie was like get like l lightaded say come on let's go. >> Silence it please. Thank you. All right. So the shopping cart was transferred to you at the deli section. That's what you're saying. Okay. And you were thinking by that time he already paid for the >> cuz that's when he was stopped to get the sandwich by the sandwich. Um, she was like, >> "So, you were thinking that he went to Kashia section, paid everything, and then came back into the store to the deli section, >> came back by the deli section, had me the cart. They said, "Come on, just go." Cuz he was he was looking for something else. I guess he can find looking for whatever. That's when he went by the sandwich, the deli to get my Aunt Rose a sandwich. The line was long. That's when he said, "Come on, let's go." That's what I pushed the cut off, but not knowing that they would have paid for. >> Okay. I don't I don't >> The way he told me that he had no idea you didn't pay for those high. >> I'm saying I'm saying we both it like both like he was he went one way but then we end up meeting back up by the by the deli >> to get to get my auntie Rosemary and then we end up saying come on let's go. He thought I paid I thought he paid. >> The man was later brought in with the woman. Although they both blamed each other the merchandise had still left the store without being paid for. So the officer made a decision about the case. Can you give me something? >> The only way we can do that is if you always shut up your court. >> Honestly, that puts an extra step into my investigation. It's much easier for me just to take you to jail and let the judge deal with you, too. Okay. At the end of the day, you did commit theft. >> The man was charged with first-degree petite theft, while the woman was charged with secondderee petite theft. Both pleaded not guilty and posted $2,500 bonds. Their cases remain pending with the next court hearing scheduled for the 28th of October, 2026. Blaming each other does not change what the evidence shows. When merchandise leaves a store without payment, inconsistent explanations can make the situation even harder to defend. >> Yeah, she's just dragging us at this point. This is just so unlike her. >> I paid for the Legos. >> You can't switch them. >> I didn't ticket switch anything. On March 26th, officers were dispatched to Target after receiving a report of a woman actively shoplifting. While she continued stealing, unaware that she was being watched, officers and loss prevention discovered that this was far from her first time. >> Okay. >> How you doing today? >> So, she's back here. >> Oh, she all the way back. Yeah, she's just dragging us at this point. This is just so unlike her. This is normally what she leaves with like carts full of stuff. So, today is odd. >> So, for sure it's the Lego set in there and then uh >> for sure cuz the Legos it's been a while so the Legos could possibly still be in there but definitely like that book that we saw and then the other stuff [clears throat] that she concealed on the aisle. >> What was it? The phone case and then a water bottle. >> Yeah, whatever. Cell phone accessory. And then >> the friend Let me see the friend. She dumped the No, the water bottle is still in her cart or she dumped it on the shelf, but she definitely, I think, concealed that book. >> Shortly after, the officer was alerted that the woman had moved near the entrance. The officer immediately moved in to detain her. Put in the back. >> What did I What did I do? >> Got in the back. >> Walk at me. Walk me right away. We ain't got you that. I got the bag. >> Follow officer. >> He's taking stuff in the back. Come on. >> Okay. Don't let us Don't let us do this. >> She's good to go. You can go if you want to or you can wait for her. >> Please. >> You want us to put you in or you want us to just be >> Yes. Please be okay. But I didn't >> He put his stuff in the back. We saw what you did. We have it all on camera. Just come on. >> It's all on camera. Hold on a second. Okay. We can look at the cameras. >> Yep. I didn't. Can you please stop? >> You want arrest? Stop. You want to be nervous for shoplifting. >> Okay, >> sir. I didn't mean to shoplift. >> Wait a second. Can I show you what's in Can you look what's in the bag before we do anything? >> I'm not even No. Please bring it back. It might be a misdemeanor. Who knows? Okay. >> 45 Charlie one. We have one white female. >> Please don't do this. Please. Could she take the cart outside >> or >> and the cart? >> Cuz the Legos are inside the cart. >> I paid for the Legos. >> You take it switch them. >> I didn't ticket switch anything. I didn't I know exactly what I put in my bag and I like I forgot it was in there. Please get >> No, you under arrest. Stop. >> Okay. Thank you. The officer then began investigating the incident and quickly discovered it went beyond simply concealing items in a bag. The officer also uncovered another trick that reduced a $60 item to just $9.99. >> In the shopping cart you had you you saw like a like a box with Legos. >> Uh well, she just picked up the shopping cart. >> She need to pay for those. Put those. Yeah. >> So what happened is she placed saw she had a a tan bag looking >> this right here. Yes. >> Oh, her receipt's right here. >> So, what she did was she price >> I know for one of these items she price switched this cost like 60 bucks. So, what she did was she Yeah, she switched the price. So, this is her bag, right? >> That's her bag. And yeah, that's my bag. >> Yeah, those are good. >> Okay. >> So, this these are hers. This is only hers. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, her book bag, she placed some items in her book bag. Okay. And she has been doing this for a period of time. So she hit different different targets. She talli over like 5,000 stolen stuff right now. So they know exactly which she is and I we observed her on camera over and over putting stuff in her bag. So that's the reason why I know this isn't you know was in the shopping cart cuz she price switch this volume this Lego is at 60 bucks but she paid only $9.99. She price switch >> the barcode there's a way or price switch the price right but give her it should be a misdemeanor. Give us like 20 to 30 minutes. Okay. >> So, I'm sick. >> Yeah. That's the reason why, you know, we just arrested her a minute ago >> cuz she You're going to let her go. >> So, if it's a misdemeanor, she will be released. If it's a felony, she's gone. 500 and over is a felony. Okay. So, I'm going to go take care of the paperworks and I will I will I will uh we I'll be back to you. >> Can you let me know? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I will stay here. >> Yeah. Should be no more than 30 minutes. >> Okay. The evidence made it hard for the woman to deny what happened that day, but the earlier incidents were a different story. She began denying them, hoping to lessen her responsibility. >> Like, please, is there anything I can do? >> Unfortunately, when you pass all points of sale, then we can no longer let you render payment for the items. And especially with your egregious shoplifting history at Target, we can >> I didn't do it. I've never shoplifted at Target. >> Unfortunately, we know that's not true. I I honestly don't I've never even been to this target before. Never even been here. >> I think you have. >> So, right now, I know the other officer didn't have time to explain, but as of right now, you're under arrest for shoplifting. That being said, we have a female officer that's going to come over. She's going to do a search of your person. That being said, seeing as how you are under arrest, ma'am, I'm going to search this bag. >> You can search the bag. >> Yeah. It just says one should be price switch and get it for $9.99. >> Yeah. >> Is there anything else other than the items that you have in there that we know you took? Anything on there? >> Yeah. All right. >> That book was already in there. >> You got your ID? >> Yes. >> That's the one that I put in there. That's it. >> I'll be sending the >> That was already in there as well. >> Yeah. Okay. >> You know, we saw everything you did on camera, right? >> That's That's fine, sir. I >> Can we take one of these off? I'm not going anywhere. >> I'm going to let you send that message and then get your phone. >> May I look at my text message? >> Like I said, cuz I don't want you for any reason, God forbid, you're texting somebody, waiting for us outside or something. All right. So, you message the ladies. >> The items were returned to the store and Target decided not to pursue further charges against her. The officer then gave her a final decision. >> Another officer, like I said, they're searching person. Uh, right now, as of right now, after that form is signed, you're no longer allowed on the premises. If you come back on the premises, you're going to be arrested for criminal trespass. Okay. >> Hey, man. Are you from your bank for the property? All target, right, Gabriel? >> No, it's just this one. But if you go to other targets, you're going to get arrested again. It's just going to happen. Fair warning. Yeah. Where my release get these crazy handcuffs? All black, too. >> All right, man. Get your stuff right here. >> Are we good? >> Yeah, we're all good. Thank you. >> You're welcome. Should I tell her to go? >> Yeah, if you just want to keep following that officer. >> Ma'am, your charge. >> So, she's banned from the property. Okay. She's not allowed. If she comes back, she's going to be arrested for criminal trespass. Okay. So, you grab your stuff if you want. And I know your friend. We're wait. She was waiting on you. She's over. I think she's over. >> I already told her that she fancy. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. So, >> I was her. >> No way. That's it. You're done. You're history. history. >> No, I mean No, you can't go back in. >> No, no. I'm talking about am I allowed to leave with my friend or >> No, no, no. You can't go back in. >> What was happening? Are >> you No, no. I wasn't I'm not going to go back in the Target. I'm asking if I could leave with my friend. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You can leave with me your friend. >> Okay. With her? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting and issued a criminal trespass warning. Repeated theft can quickly turn a simple incident into a much bigger problem. Once you're caught, denying what happened won't make the evidence disappear. >> FOR WHAT? OKAY. WHAT I'M BEING charged for, but they said I'm being charged also for >> On the 30th of March 2024, officers received a report from a Chuck-E-Cheese location about a female suspect who had fled after stealing a credit card. Officers quickly approached her while she was sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot, but it seemed she was not willing to admit anything. >> Why am I stepping out? >> Step out, please. >> What? >> You're under arrest. >> For what? For what? >> Okay. Okay. HELP ME. >> OKAY. Let me let me GET what the door. on the ground. On the ground, she been with me the whole time. I got I got it. I got on the ground. Why are we under resisting work? get your arrested. >> What am I going to jail for? >> From her denial to her refusal to cooperate, her actions could lead to a resisting charge. Under Florida law, that was classified as a first-degree misdemeanor, and she could face up to one year in jail, up to one year of probation and a fine of up to $1,000. But the charges against her did not stop there. >> I'm going to jail for stealing. >> How old are you? >> You are too. Yeah, >> I can death theft of mislaid property and then you're going to also get charged with deceptive practice because you're in the car. No one's using the card over there. You're on camera. >> I never use the caract. time. >> We're working on it. It's not for anything. >> Hey, >> what's going on? >> No, man. We got pulled over by the police, man. I got I got my son, you know. I got my son with you. I'm going to I'm going to um have him to come. He going to come hold him drop him off to you and then um I'mma call you, man. I'm good though. I'mma call you. >> He can't come get him? >> Hey, you can't. >> Could you Could you come get him? Look, I'm about here off the street. I I got my room. I got my room, too. But [ __ ] But you could just hold her. I need you to hold them, man. It's urgent. >> Sherman liquor. >> I'm right here at Sherman. I'm right here at Sherman. Sherman liquor. Right here. >> Across the street. >> Across the street. Right here by the um this say plaza. >> Yeah. >> I need you to come right now. Right now. >> Not guilty. You know what I mean? >> So, I'm going to put you in the back of my car. >> Huh? >> What happened? >> I'll let them explain to you. The man was determined to have no connection to the earlier theft, but he still had to face charges for driving with a suspended license. The officers then explained everything to him. We're going to out of here with the ticket. He's driving suspended. We're going to give him his tools and stuff back so you don't have to worry about >> So then how long my stuff going to be in the arm? >> That's up to you. I mean, honestly, with these charges and the no cash bail, I honestly think you guys are going to go out there and walk right back out. >> All right. I mean, it's Do you have any record right now or you have >> I don't got no I don't got no probation, no parole, no nothing. No bond. >> You don't have any risk of flight? They're probably just going to say, "Okay, here's your court date." See that? >> We're at the station or maybe >> No, you have to cuz technically the court you're going to is county or city. So, you have to go through the county process. >> So, today, Saturday? >> Yeah. >> So, I don't know. I'm going to be in like said there's no cash bail anymore. So if if your charges meet the criteria and you don't have any risk factors on preventing you from going to court, they'll honestly just probably give you a court date and see what >> or would I be able to get? >> It all depends on your past criminal history. If you got ongoing cases, you're on probation, parole, you have a bunch of miscar dates, that type of stuff. >> No, I don't got none of that. >> Yeah. So it'll prove you no risk. And again, this isn't a bodily harm crime. So I don't see them keeping you. >> So they do all >> What about her? >> Same thing. I mean, resisting they don't really care about. You know what? We just got to go on that guy name. We got to go fingerprint booking. Get the mug shot. Fingerprints. I'll get you. >> Returning to the female suspect, she was allowed to call her mother to inform her about what had happened. >> That's mom. I'm in a police car. I'm going to jail. But um what are my charges? >> Theft of misleading property and deceptive practice and resisting arrest. >> Charges resisted. Uh, what else? >> Theft of mislaid property. >> Theft of mislaid property. >> What else? And then deceptive practice. >> Deceptive practice. >> And resisting arresting. >> Oh, no. >> And I don't get a bond, right? >> No. Would you like me to talk to her? I'll tell you tell everything that's going to happen. >> How old are you? I don't know. Where's the sauce? Well, they said that that's me kind of taking a while from Chuck-E-Cheese. That's basically what I'm being charged for, but they're saying I'm being charged also for swiping a card, but I never swiped the card, but they said I knew what was going on. Oh god, mom. What happened? >> What happened? I think a Hold on. Yeah, I think like the issue. Let me um Yeah. Yeah. Well, I'm being arrested, so I'm going call you when I go to jail. Okay. Can I make one call? I'm >> talking right now. >> All right. He's going to talk to you real quick. Okay. >> What stood out was that even while calling her family, she showed no urgency to have someone come pick up the young family member who had to witness everything unfold. The officer eventually had to step in and bring up the issue himself so someone could come and pick him up. >> That's it. >> So, I talked to you've had your son since yesterday. >> Yeah. >> So, what's she going to do? >> Well, she's not happy. Yeah, I know. >> Yeah, but I mean you need to make things right. And honestly, I mean, out of this whole deal, looking at yourself, I would probably be most upset at that. Putting your kid through this, all right, one, he's not in a booster seat, okay? We're not going to hit them with the unrestrained child cuz that's your responsibility. All right. When your kid's in a car, you get in a bad accident, which we see all the time around here, especially intersections like this. I mean, your kid gets hit, not he doesn't have much chance, all right, out of a booster seat at his side. So, I'd be most upset at myself with just the kid. You took him to Chuck-E-Cheese. You're trying to do something good and then it all got changed. All right. Don't let that stuff, you know, now it's going to really hurt your relationship with the mother, your child. >> See how I can do it. >> And I hope you can figure it out. >> But yeah, just be smarter about that when you got your kid. When you're doing it by yourself, that's one thing. But I mean, now he's got to see all this. And depending how old he is, you never know. He might remember this forever. So, just think about that, man. So, we don't want to be put in that situation. You know, I don't want to be wrestling a girl in front of a kid because that makes us look like bad guys. Now, he thinks the police just fight everybody. So, and it takes all of us to make a generational change. You know, I want your kid to be able to come to us with any help and that now that you put a damp now. He thinks we're going to fight you every time we come into contact with you, right? You know, we're not like that. You know, if she would have stepped out, we would have simply put her in cuffs, put you in cuffs, been done with it. In the end, the woman was charged with theft of mislaid property, deceptive practice, and resisting a peace officer. Refusing to cooperate can quickly turn a theft investigation into additional charges. Staying calm and following lawful instructions can prevent a difficult situation from becoming even worse. >> You have one warrant. You might also have another one. So, you might have two warrants. >> Okay. You have the money to pay for the items. >> Yeah. >> But why are we why are we trying to get a fast one in Walmart? >> I don't know. >> Like, why? On the 23rd of April 2023, police approached a vehicle that had just left Walmart after the two women inside were suspected of being involved in a theft reported moments earlier. But when questioned, both women denied even being at the store. >> Hello, I'm offic Police Department. The reason I'm stopping you is do you guys have a little incident at Walmart right now at all? >> No. >> You guys weren't coming from Walmart? >> Okay. >> Walmart. >> Okay. Do you have your driver's license? The reason I'm here is cuz they had a shop looking okay. They described a white hatchback Chevy car. kind of what you have. Oh, >> okay. Well, still my name. >> Okay. Were you up there at all? >> Uh, no. >> Okay. Can you You have an ID on you, ma'am? >> Yeah. >> Do you have one, too? >> Uh, no. No. >> You don't have one? >> No. No. >> Okay. >> Well, we don't have nothing to sell anything. >> Okay. So, you weren't at Walmart at all? >> Yeah, we were. We didn't steal nothing. >> Okay. Well, just cuz you didn't steal anything doesn't mean that's not a problem. >> Okay. Both women denied having any involvement with a problem at Walmart, but after speaking over the radio with the officer, they heard a very different story about what had happened. >> Hello. >> What's up, man? >> Hey, Damian. This is Officer Stella. How you doing? I got the car. I got the girls. Okay. Was it the girl in the light the the light blue like dress? >> Yeah, it was. Yeah. Stay feeding the light blue dress and white female wearing a denim shorts and a black jacket >> with a red top. >> Yeah. >> Did they have a third friend with them that's kind of on the larger side? M. No. They're the only two that we saw in the store. They're the only two we saw getting the vehicle. >> Okay. And they they were swapping barcodes and whatnot. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Um I'll be up there shortly. Okay. I'm going to detain these guys right here and I'm going to take them up there. I'm going to look at that um the footage. Okay. And then we'll move forward from there. All right. If you can just get all that prepared for me. >> Right on. >> And then uh we'll address it. All right. >> Sounds good. Thank you. >> Awesome. Bye. Take care. >> It seemed the investigation had confirmed what happened and police then moved to detain them. Surprisingly, neither woman appeared to object. >> Can you step out the car for me, ma'am? >> For what? >> Cuz I'm telling you to step back here for me. Okay. >> Can you put your phone on the car? >> Yeah. >> Put your hands right back from your foot. >> Am I getting arrested? >> At this point in time, you're just a detained. Okay. Relax. Relax. Hang on. Okay. You want me to roll the window down, please? Let's go to the front of the car for me. Okay. Go ahead and face the car for me. So, I'm going to be straight up with you. You got a warrant. Okay. >> Let me see your Let me see your hands behind your back for me. >> So, you have a warrant. Okay. Also, we're going to address this uh Walmart in Okay. >> Get in there for me. >> Watch your head. There you go. All right. Hang tight. All right. Police then explained to the women why they were being detained. And one of them did not seem surprised at all. Almost as if she already knew exactly why she was being taken into custody. >> Having read those rights, do you understand your rights? >> I understand your rights. Are you willing to talk to me? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, clearly you were at Walmart, right? >> Yeah. >> You guys went in there. It was just you and >> Can I pay for all the stuff that >> Listen, it was you and Tammy, right? >> That went in there cuz she stayed in the car, right? >> Well, yeah. We all went in there and she went >> Oh, she just didn't walk with you guys. >> Huh? No. >> Okay. So, you and Tammy kind of walked together within this store? >> Yeah. >> Y'all were switching barcodes on things? >> Yes. >> Okay. Well, I I don't even know the items. What were the items that you guys were switching? >> Clothes. >> Clothes. Trying to just swap the the clothes out for cheap items. >> Yeah. >> Were you guys going to pay for the items at the cheaper rate? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Look, can I pay for all the stuff? >> Let me Let me So, here's what's going to happen. Okay. I do have to take you to Walmart. I have to see the footage to confirm that it is you. Okay. Right now, I I believe it to be you. Okay. We've talked. I mean, clearly you were there. I'm going to look at the footage. Okay. I'm on top of Walmart. They do want to press charges, okay? But if they want to work out some kind of different deal or something like that, then that's that's going to be their behalf. Okay? If they they're like, I want to press charges, then we're going to have to address that. How we have to address that. Okay. >> Huh? >> We'll go with that. >> Either you be jail or a citation. Okay? So, I'm going to have to talk with Tammy. Okay. >> I can pay for all the stuff. >> Okay. Just hang on. Okay. But for the other woman, things became even more serious when officers checked her information and discovered a problem she already had on record. Um >> 18. Okay. I just wanted to make sure. >> Um sit back for me and then look that way. >> So for sure you have one warrant. You might also have another one. So you might have two warrants. >> Okay. But for sure you have one warrant. One's for failure to pay fines and then the other one we don't know yet. Uh, as far as I'm concerned, that's the only word I have. >> That's the only words cuz, uh, I had talked to the judge and he said I had a 90day thing. I paid the mark and then they called me early April saying that I didn't pay and I told him that I did and then she told me that I would just have to talk to the judge. That's what I was waiting on. >> Yeah. So, you're that one is for you to pay fines and then my dispatch is confirming right now to see if you have a second one at a state police. Okay. So, just hang tight. Okay. Clearly you guys are at Walmart. You and Ameilia were in the store together walking around. Okay. Were you guys switching barcodes on clothes and stuff? >> Um, no. >> No. Okay. So, if I go look at the video footage, it's not going to show that. Okay. So, what were you guys doing in the store then? >> Um, well, I have a baby shower right now. So, we're just going to >> other stuff that I could possibly give to. >> Okay. And um what happened with Walmart where they pretty much stopped you guys from taking whatever you guys have? >> Um they didn't take anything. We were uh going to scan and I guess I don't know what happened. Something about pants. So the lady had said that we had only uh t-shirt scan that we didn't scan the pants. So she was like, "All right, well what about pants?" And then she was like, "Well, this you don't have the right bar code on it." And she's like and I asked I was like, "Okay, well is there like another pair like you go get another pair swap it out? You know, possibly get another try." Mhm. >> And she was like, uh, she radioed someone. Uh, and then we were just like, "It's okay. Never mind. We're just going to go." >> Okay. So, they Okay. So, here's what's going to happen. Okay. We're going to take you guys to Walmart. Okay. >> Walmart's camera footage quickly disproved the woman's explanation, showing multiple items being placed into bags without ever being brought over to be scanned. >> Ameilia, I watched the video. I saw the entire thing. All right. You scan you scan two items and then you just start reaching across and putting them in the bags. Okay. there. You weren't attempting to scan them. It's not what it looks like at all. Okay. Home girl has makeup and all kinds of stuff in the cart. Okay. You give her a bag. She starts putting in that bag. Never even left the cart to be attempted to scan. Okay. Who put the the the different barcodes on the diapers? >> Um I'm not sure. >> Okay. You're not sure? >> Yeah. It might I don't know cuz we're just grabbing things. >> You're just grabbing things. Okay. >> Yeah. Those diapers are for um >> So, let for baby shower. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, let me ask you this. Okay. You have the money to pay for the items. >> Yeah. >> But why are we why are we trying to get a fast one in Walmart? >> I don't know. >> Like why? >> I don't know. >> You see what I'm saying? Like if you have the money to to take care of your business, right? Is is it worth all this trouble we're in right now? >> You got the cops involved. You could have just bought your stuff and been on your way to this baby shower. I'm sure that's where you're going to, right? >> Okay. But now we're here and we got the cops involved with something that you could have paid for. >> Can I pay for it all now? >> I can pop in there and talk with them. If they decline that, then that's going to be their decision. Okay? I'll ask them. Okay? I'll I'll ask them if they they're okay with that. They may say no. If they say no, then we're going to have to go the criminal route here. Okay? >> So, here's what's going to happen. Okay? She's going to jail regardless. Okay? Let me pop in your ass if if they're okay with you paying for all the items or not. If they are, then cool. If not, then we're going to address it the other way, which is criminal way. Okay? And then that will decide what we're going to do with you. Okay? I just want to let you know you do have two warrants for sure. >> Oh, really? >> Okay. One's out of state police for contempt of court and then the other is out of here magistrate court for No, you did >> foreign. >> Contempt of court. So, you did something that the judge didn't like or you didn't follow his rules, whatever it was. Okay. So, I just wanted to kind of keep you updated updated on what's going on. All right. >> The two women were charged with shoplifting and one of them also had outstanding warrants. A simple theft can become much more serious when false explanations are contradicted by video evidence. When the evidence tells a different story, trying to deny what happened may only make the situation worse. You >> been arrested? Yes. When was the last time you were arrested? Um, On the 21st of December 2024, police stopped a woman as she was trying to leave Walmart after allegedly concealing merchandise while shopping to avoid paying for it. Here's what happened next. >> Oh, excuse me, ma'am. >> Can you stop for me? >> No, I don't have anything. >> Okay, hold on. We >> It's right there in your pocket. >> What's going on? >> It's an item you can over >> Okay. What do you have in your pocket? >> Nothing. >> Okay. Can we go ahead and talk inside real quick? >> No. Why? >> Well, you're being detained for shoplifting right now. >> But I'm not shoplifting. >> Okay. Well, loss prevention witness you conceal an item and place an item in your pocket. So, that's what we're dealing with right now. >> This is like uh come right over here, ma'am. You can come right over here. Let me have you speak with this officer right here. >> What is it that she could see? >> Uh portable charger from electronics. And then she also had a pair of letters. >> Okay. And you said it's in her >> in their pocket right here. You can save it right there in a second. >> Okay. Um would you mind getting us a receipt for that? >> Yeah. Remove it. Thank you. >> The employee seemed quite certain about her alleged shoplifting and the suspect then had to pull the matching items from her pocket. Can you start me one at 1420? >> What's in the other pocket? >> And they also say some lighters. Did you conceal some lighters in your pockets? >> You just said you took a lighter. >> What's in What's in this pocket over here? >> Stick it out there. your pants as well. >> Can I just go, please? I get to get past that. Come on, let's go. >> I'm sorry. >> No, go ahead. What else you guys got? >> Thank you. Sorry. >> She showed no shame at all. Even more surprisingly, the woman identified as Marcus was confirmed to have done this before. >> Have you ever been arrested? >> Yes. When was the last time you were arrested? >> Um, a few months ago for concealing my identity by a warrant and didn't have a warrant. >> You're going to have warrants for that. >> So now I know you already had a warrant. We're not going to find anything on your person. It's going to get you more trouble. >> What? >> Okay. So, you didn't pay for the straws? >> I forgot I have If I didn't have a warrant, you guys wouldn't take me in or >> Technically, I can take you to jail regardless. We were going to have that conversation. Why don't you stand up for me? Okay. >> More unpaid items were found on her, [music] as if taking merchandise had become a habit she no longer remembered, even when some were things she genuinely needed. The officer then handcuffed her. Wait, can I hit my lip one more time? You guys didn't throw it. See, you didn't throw it. >> Okay, you were meant to prevent that. >> Hey, don't resist. You're just going to add to your problem. Okay. >> Like, why charge now? >> You don't need to add to that. Perfect. >> Once again, man, is there anything? >> No, I just wanted to have my [ __ ] bed one more time. The woman was arrested for suspected shoplifting, but the actual charges were not confirmed. If charged [snorts] under New Mexico's shoplifting statute, she could face up to 6 months in jail and a $500 fine if the merchandise was worth $250 or less. If the value exceeded $500, the offense could become a fourthderee felony carrying a basic sentence of up to 18 months and a fine of up to $5,000. Denying the theft becomes harder when unpaid merchandise is found on you. Being honest and cooperative can help prevent a simple situation from becoming more complicated.
