at all. That is not cool at all, you guys. I didn't even know he was in there, bro. Hold on real quick. I'm almost done. >> Use your phone. >> On November 3rd, police received a report of a theft at a shopping mall where two women allegedly took thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. When officers arrived at the scene, they quickly caught one suspect as she tried to hide behind a dumpster. But the real surprise came from the woman's apparent innocence. Why? I didn't take anything. >> Tell her we got her. >> We got one detent. >> Did I go away? >> We got the female. She was behind the dumpster at Jimmy. >> Guys, I'm not going to jail. >> Probably. >> Why? I don't take place merchandise though, sir. >> Yeah, I'm not going to be able to do it. >> That's all right. You're not gonna be able to be cuffed. Here, let us down. Now, you go ahead and put me down, >> you guys. The guy away. >> Hey, do you have anything on you? That's >> No, sorry. No, I'm sorry. >> The guy away. >> The guy's in custody. >> Yeah, we're we're good. >> Yeah, I was in good custody. >> You guys want to go to jail? >> No, you do have a warrant. >> No, I don't. >> Okay, we're going to confirm on that. >> I have a warrant. Just wait. We'll >> figure that out. >> Yeah, we'll figure it out. I don't have a word. >> Uh, let me check my cover, dude. So, just take your cuff off. >> I have no words at all. >> Stop. >> If you run, you will go to jail. >> No, no. I got shot up here. My arm I got shot my arm. >> Don't Don't resist either cuz you're going to get slammed to the ground. >> If I ar >> The woman appeared extremely anxious about her fate. Police allowed her to calm down after placing her in the patrol car, and that was when she admitted her actions. >> I want to talk to you about what just happened in Sephora. Okay. >> All right. Can we do that? >> Yes, sir. Okay. What's going on? [snorts] >> We were just doing testers. Perfume testers. >> You're what? >> We're stealing perfume testers. >> You were stealing perfume testers? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> That's all we took. We're almost not even They don't have the apartment. Not even the pool all the way. >> Okay. Um you and this other gentleman were Okay. What's his name? >> I um he's her friend. My friend, but I know him by as Isa. >> Okay. You know these guys? >> I know her. >> Okay. So, were you taking them and putting them in his bag or what? >> I had them I had them I had I literally had them in my hand and >> you had them in your hand as you were walking out. >> Some of them fell. They dropped on the floor over there. I heard them crack >> over there >> when I was running. I heard them crack like they're falling. I cuz I had I had my my jacket. >> Okay. >> And I took out my jacket and they fell on the floor. >> Okay. >> That's it though. Even they took this test. >> And did you guys come in here knowing that you're going to steal those or >> Okay. All right. I'll have some more questions for you in a second, but just go and stay in here. All right. Are we going to jail? >> I'm not going to put any cuffs on you right now. But if if you get squirly, then we're going to have to make it happen. Okay. >> But are we are we going to go to jail? >> I don't know yet. >> The suspect also admitted that her cover up came from the person accompanying her. At that moment, police also approached that individual who was still wearing an electronic ankle monitor. >> I'm going to hang tight with my partner real quick and then we're going to go ahead and explain everything. Okay. is uh do you drive a like a blue Honda or something or >> um No, I drive a gray Honda. >> Gray Honda, sorry. Okay. Where's your car at? >> Um over here. >> Over there. Okay. >> Is there anybody else with the car or just >> No. All right. >> Whoever she was with. Is this is your friend? >> This is my sister. >> Your sister? I mean, not my blood sister, but definitely grew up together. Who's in the other car? >> I don't know yet. >> Take your phone. >> We'll take your phone cuz we got >> I'm getting arrested for what? >> We'll talk about that in a second. >> You're just being detained right now. >> I don't want to arrest you. >> Yeah. >> Is that good? >> Yeah, that's fine. >> That's fine. >> Hold on. I just want to lock them for you so they don't get >> What? What's your income on the floor anyway? >> I missed court. >> For what? >> Um, >> what's the charges? >> Some [ __ ] up charges. Um, from like 2018. It was like uh manufacturing distributing this video. >> Video of a minor. >> Yeah. When I was 18. >> Okay. Uh, we'll go ahead and Do you know your probation pro officer's name? >> Um, yeah. >> Jeff. >> Jeff. Jeff. >> Jeff. Just Jeff. >> K. K. Yeah. >> Okay. Are you staying up there from everything? >> Yeah. >> After detaining the woman, officers sat beside her and gently worked to obtain information, which made the truth come out more easily. >> So, knowing what you know, based on the period of time that you came and left, because you know everything this girl's doing. And when she jumped in your car yesterday, you had to have looked over and been like, "That's a that's $3,000 worth of fragrances. What are you doing?" >> Never looked in your bed. >> But him and her ran and jumped in your car. >> Yeah. You got video and photographs of their car >> and them stealing and getting into your car. >> So, you drove them from the scene of a crime and you said like like that's a easy way cuz I'm just I'm really telling you everything I know. I'm just saying it, you know, and you're trying to hide it. You're looking for the answer. Like you know that >> they did that yesterday. You guys ran your car like >> but like honestly just like you asked me on the spot like where was it at this time? You mean you could have asked me what we did yesterday >> instead of me thinking of what >> you know what I'm saying? >> Well, yeah. I remember being a mom for her. I didn't know that was who she was with today though. >> I I I want to do a search warrant because I don't I don't want to violate your rights. I [snorts] don't want you to feel coerced because you have the monitor in there. I don't want I want you to be protected, you know, and I want to do things right, you know? I don't want to just make it seem like that's easy cuz I feel like I'd be taking advantage of the circumstance. >> So, >> okay, >> let me make a call and I'll ask I'll ask uh >> anything drug related if she swear she dropped foil in my car. >> It ain't mine. >> Does that Does she smoke off of foil? >> Yeah. >> Thus, all wrongdoing became clear. At that point, both suspects were taken to the police station. The atmosphere turned tense again as they realized the consequences caused by their own actions. >> It's still their property. >> So, he's going to jail, too. >> He has a warrant for his arrest. >> I was trying to see was in the other car. >> So, so guys, but they're just testers though. Like they're like they're probably >> That's not what you're going to be arrested for. You're not You're getting arrested for all the other stuff that you just stole. They have a case against you. >> But what other stuff about $20,000 worth of from Sephora? >> I just been taking testers, though. They're just tested. I've been taking all the testers. >> So, this one is going to be separate from theirs, which is not right. >> It's over 20,000 $20,000 worth of stuff. >> His one? >> No, mine. >> Uh, we're going to figure that out. The sergeant's going to do that. trying to figure out what I'm going to jail for. I don't I just I don't take >> You're going to jail for the same stuff that she's going to jail for because you guys are working together. >> No, we're not. >> No, we're not. You guys You guys How you guys even be able to prove that? >> How do you even do that? >> Because they have a video footage. >> So So friends can't hang out. >> Wait, wait, wait. >> I've never been in >> Never. Ever. We've never even been in together. Yeah. >> Hold up. What's your name? That's >> You could tell there's a charging officer. He's the guy that was just here telling you. No, I can't get charged with what she got charged. >> Yeah, probation. She didn't say nothing like literally that was all me by myself. >> She has a probation here. >> That was all my testers. >> Oh, this is my >> the female suspect had completely underestimated the situation. What she did not know was that police were fully aware of her past offenses and even she panicked when that reality set in. >> What have we been charged with? >> So, what's our charge that I'm getting? So, the charging uh sergeant is going to come in and tell you guys exactly. I don't want to say exactly, right, >> until he knows. Okay. >> Shouldn't we just say chocolate team? >> No, because we do it multiple times out of a careerong. >> So, you're getting conspiracy contributing to the delinquency of a minor cuz he's >> OH MY GOD. NO. HELL NO. [ __ ] NO. THAT'S NOT THAT'S NOT COOL, BRO. HELL NO. THAT'S NOT COOL AT ALL. THAT IS NOT COOL AT ALL, YOU GUYS. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HE was in there, bro. HERE, WE DIDN'T EVEN GO IN TOGETHER. >> YOU WANT TO CHILL? YOU WANT TO CHILL OUT? >> OH MY GOD, MY ARM. >> WHY would you do that? Why would you do that to yourself? >> I have no idea why you would DO THAT. >> BECAUSE YOU GUYS LIKE ME AND DANCE, YO. LIKE, I DID NOT. Oh my god. [laughter] >> So, listen. You're You're on camera right now. Everything that you're acting out and doing right now is not going to help your face. >> Get to the judge. >> You got to chill out. It's just a charge. It's not Oh, you guys, you guys are in jail. You guys don't know. You guys don't know my life. You guys don't know what I GO THROUGH ON A DAILY. You guys don't know. >> Again, >> you guys don't know. You guys don't even care. So, stop. >> It's just a charge. It's not a conviction. You still have to see a judge. Freak out. >> I don't even know how long I'm going to be in jail for. You shouldn't even worry cuz I got a whole case. Although the female suspect reacted irritably at first, only minutes later the suspects appeared completely calm about the situation, showing no remorse as they compared each other's offenses. >> Dude, listen. I'm facing a degree though. You're not facing a degree felony, you dumb [ __ ] >> But you know what my convictions are? >> Yeah, you're worse than chocolate. >> You don't have no convictions, stupid. >> She doesn't show up to car, right? >> Why are you so >> Your indictment is stopped. I know you guys have so much jokes on. I can make some jokes, too. >> When I start joking, don't get me. >> Oh, God. Y'all want to make some jokes? I make some jokes, too. >> First of all, that man go so damn perfect. Y'all perfect that hairline. >> Really? >> Yeah. You want to like [cough] fix your hair or anything. >> Cuz I keep rubbing me on. >> I got better hair than you any day. >> Huh? >> What? >> Did you want to fix your hair? >> Yeah. Yeah. Let me just [laughter] hold on real quick. I'm almost done. >> Use your strong armor. >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft and resisting law enforcement while she also had an outstanding charge for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. This case showed that underestimating the law and relying on others to cover wrongdoing only led to heavier consequences and deeper trouble. >> This, for lack of a better term, a-holes PlayStation for him after he abandoned you. And I do feel for you. I really do. I'm not just saying that. >> On April 8th, 2025, officers were dispatched to Walmart after reports of three suspects hitting the store. The couple behind the thefts fled, leaving the woman alone. When police arrived, they told her straight up she'd fallen into trouble that was anything but good. >> So, I I called um my sergeant of the detectives and I was explaining the situation, okay? Not the theft issue, the other issues that you're currently being stuck in the middle of, right? I at least wanted him to be in the loops. That way, we can start trying to help you anyway we can. Okay? The theft issue that we're talking about is something that you're going to have to deal with as an individual. Okay? But I'm going to work with you as much as I can on everything. And um we're going to try to figure out what this dude's deal is. Okay. >> My friends were heading here to get me. Um I don't know if they're here or not. >> Okay. >> They were on my phone, >> but I didn't know if they showed up or not. >> I have no idea. >> I worried they leave me and I'm going to get ready if I get to go home or >> Okay. >> Whatever. Cuz I have to wait like four or five hours. >> Okay. What I'm going to tell you is you are going to jail for the theft. Okay? I will let you reach out to your friends and let them know so they're not worried sick about you and you don't have to waste a jail phone call on reaching out to them. Okay? That way you can call somebody that can either help you or an attorney or something like that. Okay. Okay. She had followed the couple through their shoplifting spree knowing it was wrong and never stopping them. and realizing their actions would drag her into the mess, she started to worry. >> Do you know with you being an out oftowner, bail is going to be 5,000, no 10%. The theft is a misdemeanor to the first degree and the bonds are standard. Okay. Now, that being said, it's Tuesday. They just had initial appearances in court today. They might be able to get you in sooner. So, you might get your bond lowered or something like that. It's up to the judge. I'm not going to charge you with having the math bubble. You're very honest and forthcoming on that. But hey, I'll be honest with you. It it's comes down surely to the dollar amount. If somebody comes in here and steals 50 bucks worth of food or something, they get a summon and they got to go to court. And we're talking it wind up being 800 I'm sorry, $788.32 is is what the value is for pre-tax on all this stuff. That's a lot of money. A lot of money. And Amber, I wish you would have called. If you felt like somebody forced you to come in here and take a PlayStation 5, this would have been a significantly different conversation if you called the police and said, "This is what happened to me. I'm abandoned here. I need help." And then this conversation would very likely be so different. The police knew she had fallen into a victim-like situation, but what made everything unclear was the woman herself. Everything was explained clearly through the officer's statements. But instead, you held on to this, for lack of a better term, a-hole's PlayStation for him after he abandoned you. >> And we we would have never known who you were. You would have left here and we would have tried to figure out who you were on this video. And maybe we did, maybe we didn't. Maybe you would have had a warrant in a month. I don't know. But instead, you you didn't call. You sat and waited and waited and waited. And I do feel for you. I really do. I'm not just saying that. But you got yourself in a heck of a spot here. Now, Patrolman Fe, I don't know if he explained to you when he talked to you in my back seat. One of the things that he specializes in is human trafficking. I know that you're saying that the answer is no. And I'm going to be honest with you, I don't 100% believe you. I think this Christopher patrol guy is doing something like that, at least similar to you. And what I would encourage you to do is think really hard on it. And if there's something you want to talk more about, ask for F. He has the resources and the knowhow to help you get out of that. Okay. Okay. >> With [snorts] the mindset that she was also committing a crime, she held on to the items the fleeing thieves had taken, landing herself in trouble. But now calmer, she helped the officers identify the couple who had left her behind. >> What kind of car was it again? >> Blue Honda CRV, I think. >> Okay. And it's going to be the blue Honda CRV. We were able to confirm with Mr. previous thefts. That looks more like a Ford Escape. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Which is what we've seen. >> You guys saw, >> right? You see the front of it says CRV on it. >> Yep. That's an old CRV. I was like, is that a GMC Jim? It's about the same 90s. >> 25 to 13. We have the video of the vehicle. It's going to be late 90s, early 2000s model. Dark blue in color. Do you have any idea how many packs of cars he took? >> No. Is it >> a lot? Okay. >> 25. What was the girlfriend's name? >> The girlfriend and the vehicle is registered to a Okay. Four. >> How many? >> Four of them. I think those are like $30 a pop. Yeah, that might. >> At this point, she couldn't escape the mistakes she had made. The officer stood by their original decision. She would still face the consequences and learn her lesson. >> Thank you guys. >> Can you get a description? >> You ever actually seen? >> Yes, she's kind of like my build. >> She got really long curly hair. >> Okay. Um, >> how old is >> um I fish about 30, 32 maybe. >> Okay. >> He's a little bit older than Chris. He's a little bit younger than me. >> Okay. 13's going to be a similar build as my 21 with long curly hair. Early 30s. No. In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft. Even when caught up in a bigger scheme, trying to cover for others only drags oneself deeper into trouble. The key lesson: owning up to one's actions sooner can prevent small mistakes from turning into serious consequences. >> My knees hurt. >> Your knees hurt? >> My Yeah, my neck and my back hurt, too. On January 31st, 2025, police approached a vehicle after receiving a report of a theft. The suspects included a woman and a man who tried to flee, but immediately afterward, the woman acted in a shocking manner. >> Go ahead, step up. >> Fight me. Are youing crazy? Put your hands 351. Nobody else need a white castle. Everyone else wants to go for that car. Careful. Nobody else. >> You tried running twice. >> You were biting me. >> I have to be like this. >> I'm holding. >> Okay. You still made a mistake. Step over here. >> We're looking for this. >> What's your name? >> Her actions spoke for her, committing everything without a word, while at the same time, the other suspect had the chance to escape by car as if she deliberately sacrificed herself. Listen, stop playing games. What's your name? We're going to figure it out one way or another. Walgreens. >> You can tell us or we'll take your fingerprints and figure it out. You want to make it easy, tell us right now. We're [ __ ] around. >> What is your name? Whatever. We'll get your fingerprints. That's fine. Female officer on duty. Are you female and male? Do you identify as female or male? >> I'll search myself if you don't want to tell us. >> Hey, listen to me. I got here late, okay? It's over. You're in custody. That's not changing. >> Make this easier for us and we'll make it easier for you. You understand that? >> Now, I'm going to ask you again. What is your name? >> Not about your name. You don't. >> You have the right to not self-inccriminate. It has nothing to do with your name. The woman invoked her right to remain silent, revealing nothing about herself or the other suspect. Any words she did speak were only to feain vulnerability. >> Thanks. >> I'm not being shot today. >> I'm not talking to you right now. You have the right to lay silence. I'm not being shot for that. Huh? One thing at a time, huh? Come on over here. >> Your knee hurts. You can stay right here. >> Or you can sit on the curb. Which one you want to do? >> Huh? >> Huh? >> You want to lean here? You want to stay on the curb? >> You lean here. All right, fine. We'll lean here. What all I'm being charged for? >> I don't know. We'll figure that out. >> Huh? >> What do you care? You know the game, right? You've been arrested before. >> Yeah. >> Right. >> You're arrested. >> Do you know the game? >> Yeah. All right, stop worrying about it. >> So, what I'm being charged for? >> I don't know yet. We ain't got that far. >> She showed no sign of guilt, focusing only on what she wanted, regardless of how much it complicated the police's work. >> Where my phone at? >> I don't know. >> Where my phone at? >> I don't know. Why would I know? >> Where's my phone at? Please tell me where my phone is at. But now you're starting to kind of aggravate me cuz I told you to stop moving. We've told you a couple of times. Right. We'll find your phone eventually. We're not stealing it. >> All right. >> But >> what I'm all I'm being charged for. I don't know how many times you want me to tell you that. >> Can you please get my phone? >> Why? You can't use it. >> There's my phone in my uh coat. >> Look in there and see if the phone's in the coat or the phone's in there, will you? >> It's a lot of stuff in there. Is my phone in the coat? >> All right. Where's the last place you had your phone? >> In my pocket. >> Is my phone in there? >> Is your phone in your pocket? >> Unless it's in this big shopping bag you got here. >> Is my phone enough? My knees hurt. >> Okay. You want to go to the hospital? >> Yeah. >> Okay. I'll send you to hospital. My knees hurt so bad. >> Okay. >> You don't want to sit down, though, right? >> My knees hurt. >> You want to sit down? >> In fact, this was the second time she had tried to escape during the incident, showing there was no real injury. Yet, when the medical team arrived, she calmly pretended to be hurt. >> My knees hurt. >> Your knees hurt? my ear, my neck, and my back hurt, too. >> Okay. >> We uh she's got all that. So, we have a female officer coming to surgery, and then after that, we >> Yeah. Yeah. Okay. >> Go ahead and face him. He's going to take some pictures of you. It's for your injuries. You're claiming you're injured. >> Where are you feeling pain? >> Everywhere. >> Be more specific. >> My neck, my back, my knees. >> Anywhere that feels scraped up, bruised, cut. Yeah, >> your knees. >> Yeah, my back hurts. >> You want to wait till she goes to the hospital or >> No. Okay, >> I'll take a look now. >> That's not invasive. >> Oh, [ __ ] >> Camera. >> Yeah, >> all of our cameras are on you. >> Mine is not. >> His uh dash cam's on, too. So, >> I'm just checking your knees. I'm not checking anywhere else. That's where you're claiming you're injured. >> Okay. Well, I'm going to lift your pant legs up. Keep your head up. Stand up. >> Choking me, sir. >> Well, stop leaning forward. >> Choking me. >> Yep. Stop leaning forward. >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft, aggravated battery, and resisting arrest. Some will exploit sympathy to evade responsibility, manipulate others, and aid accompllices, teaching that appearances of vulnerability can be utterly deceptive. Next, the woman also faced the consequences of attempting to flee. >> I'm not a bad person. Please, please. I don't want a record. I'm not. >> As of right now, I don't even know your name. On February 26th, 2024, police were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of shoplifting at Macy's. The suspect, a woman, fled immediately, escalating the tension as officers attempted to approach her. >> Stop. Get on THE GODDAMN GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. Get on the ground. Give me hands. Can't you turn around? Give me your hands. Behind your backind resisting radio I'm sorry. >> Immediately after being caught, the woman showed remorse and offered apologies, but it was all an attempt to elicit sympathy from the police. at Toronto Valley. >> Please. I'm sorry. It's >> okay. We'll talk to you in a second. Okay. >> Please, [music] sir. >> Yeah. Are we going to talk to you in a second? >> I don't want to go. I got a job to go to today. I love the roof. >> Please. >> Where you work at? >> Please. I just start today. >> I don't want to tell you why. >> Okay. Oh, wow. >> So, you can make me lose my job when you don't want to talk to me. >> Okay. I just got a job at Benny Hana. >> Job at being? >> Benihana? >> What do you need your >> I just want to go? Please. >> Hey, you got your information? You have any ID? Anything like that? No, it was in her bag. >> I'm going have to get get her searched on me. >> Yeah. So, get an officer to search her. >> No, no, no. >> I need to get statements from >> Is she your possible suspect? >> Yeah, she is. >> How do you know? >> Cuz she's matching the description. Only has one shoe. Like he said, >> confirmed that. >> Yeah. So, I'm going to confirm it. >> Tell the type. What's your name? >> Please. Can I go? >> What's your name? >> Please. Please. >> You're not going to tell me your name? >> Please. I have no record. Please, I'm not a bad person. >> Although she admitted to her actions, she insisted she was not a bad person. Police suspected that someone might have hired her to carry out the act. >> Hey, how did you get here? >> The person that made me do it. >> Who made you do it? >> I just have a job today, you guys. Please. I won't do it again. >> Who made you Who made you do what? >> I won't I won't do it again. I I wasn't doing it for me. >> Please. I just want to go. I have a job to you. Wait, listen. We're going to talk to you. Let me read this. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Let me Let me read this. >> I'm sorry. I want to go to work. I swear. >> Ma'am, listen. Let me read this for you. You have the right the right to to remain silent. Do you understand? >> Do you understand? >> Yeah. >> Anything you say may be used against you in court. Do you understand? >> Yes or no? >> No. >> You don't understand? >> No. >> Okay. So, which part you don't understand? >> All of it. Cuz I am telling you, I want to just go. I'm sorry. >> Okay. >> I want Please, please. >> Let me read you this. >> Please. >> Okay. >> Please. Please. I don't have a record. I'm not a bad person. Please. Please. I don't want a record. I'm not >> Listen, as of right now, I don't even know your name. Okay? This is not how this works. I'm not going to take the handcuffs off and let you go just because you said sorry. I still have an investigation to do. Okay? Before I ask you any questions, I'm going to read your rights. >> The woman only tried to assert herself, but offered no actions to prove it. Simply put, she refused to take responsibility for her own behavior. >> I did not I knew that stuff was not for me. I wasn't doing that for me. Please go home. >> I don't want to lose my job. I've been trying to get job for 6 months. Guys, please. I just got this job. >> I'm trying to get back on my feet. I'm not a criminal. >> Okay. >> I want to, but you're not going to let me go. >> I won't do it again. >> Hey, you know when a cop tells you to stop, you stop, right? I mean, so you can stop that crime because we told you to stop from over here and you looked at me and continued to run. So stop the whole police crowd cuz you could have just stopped and spoke to me. We could have figured out a little bit different >> instead of making me tack into the woods. >> But you guys want to arrest me and I'm trying to >> Now we do. Yeah. >> I didn't I didn't I didn't I don't have a record. I'm not >> Okay. Then again, when you saw the cop car and you looked at me and decided to still run, then that goes on you. >> It falls on me. I was made to do it. I'm I was made to do it. I understand that I was made to do this. >> But you don't understand what I'm saying. >> I'm trying to get a job. I just got a job. I go in today at four o'clock. I have I have had to >> Oh, you're probably not. >> And again, if you would have stopped there instead of running across the bushes through here, it would have been a whole different scenario, mate. >> I'm just saying you're an adult, so you make a decision. >> I I I've never been in this situation. >> Well, you never you run for counsel? >> No. Okay. >> So, hey, I'm right here. I Somebody made me do something. and I want to talk to you guys. >> I didn't think you'd believe me and I didn't even know his real name. >> Inside the car, once calmer, she began sharing her story, which seemed to revolve around her job. >> Um, I've been waiting to start this job. So, there was somebody at the hotel um whenever I was trying to book when I was trying to book the room. He overheard me, Cory Brothers, you know, um talking to the lady about having a difficult time and starting a job. and he said, "I'll um I'll help you, you know, if you do do me a favor and you want get liquor for me and some some clothes." And um at first, you know, I told him, you know, like I'll do it later, you know, another time cuz I had to go to a job today. I asked if I could go to the job and then do it from another time cuz I was going to see if I could just borrow some money from a friend to give it back to him and not have to do that. Um he said, "I'll even take you to work just um you know if you go in there and get this size and get like a shirt and shorts and shirt and pants." >> So I did it >> here at the Mac. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And who was it that told you? >> I don't know his real name. He goes by Money. I don't I don't know. >> He goes by what? >> Money? I don't know. >> Money. So, he told you basically go steal some liquor, go steal some clothes from the Macy's >> and he would take care of the room for me. And then um but I was trying to not have to do what I had told him, you know, just do it on my feet somewhere. He said, "No, I need you to, you know, I paid for it. you you need to do it. That's when you told me to do it. You gave you, you know, gave me your word and I said, "Can I just pay you back?" And we did that and he said, "No, we had a deal." >> And he said, you know, I don't want to have any issues with you. So, you know, I kind of felt like I had didn't have a choice. >> Okay. And did he at any point threaten you to do this? >> He pretty much said, you know, we had a deal and he said there's going to be issue, you know, if you don't do it, you >> So, she felt entitled to deny her wrongdoing. At this point, she called a family member, seemingly just to continue fabricating lies about herself. >> Bro, what is wrong with you? >> Abby, can please can you just Can you call the job? It's going to sound bad if you stand in the hospital. >> How does that sound bad? I can say you got sick. >> Say I got food poisoning or something, Abby. I don't know. >> I'm not getting you out of jail, though. Like, it's You'll get out in one day. >> No, I won't. Abby, get me out of jail. >> Bro, don't talk to me like that. >> Abby, please get me out. I'll give the money back to you. I'll give the money back to Abby. >> Finally, she was charged with resisting arrest, shoplifting, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting a merchant. Trying to manipulate others sympathy or deny wrongdoing only worsens the situation and erodess trust. Facing consequences honestly is far more respectable than hiding behind excuses or lies. >> You should not >> come to other stores and commit crimes cuz you committed a crime, >> right? >> Put in your bag. >> No, I don't have a receipt for it because I didn't get it from here. I didn't get it from anywhere. Here. I got it from my friend's house. >> On the 25th of May 2024, police received a report from a Kroger store about a woman who had committed theft inside the store. What followed still held unexpected twists. Watch what happened next. >> Okay. So, here's what's going on tonight. Right now, you're just going to be detained. I didn't see any money in here. >> This is not This is I went over to my friend's house today and I got my thing part of my things. Part of my things. I'm at the prevention um of of abuse. The prevention of >> So, let me just tell you something. We're not stupid. So, don't act like we are. I know you didn't I didn't I know you didn't pay for this. I'm doing everything in front of you. So, you're seeing everything we're doing. >> Yes. This says her alias is Ashley Hoax with >> No, that's not that lady is not me. Okay. >> The woman made a strong effort to provide specific details for officers to run her information, but it appeared that the situation only grew worse. >> I just ran that. It says driver's license not found in the state of Texas. >> There's no way my It's been my driver's license since I was 18. Are you serious? >> Yep. I'm serious. >> Y'all are wrong, dude. Admitting guilt and then denying it showed how lies only made the consequences heavier. Next, the older woman believed she could outsmart the police, but the reality proved otherwise. >> Oh, it was a test. >> See what happens when you steal in general. Did you not Don't breathe heavy with me. >> You're 60 years old in shoplifting. >> On December 14th, 2025, police received a call from Target regarding a theft in progress. Just let me pay you down. >> Yeah. >> Oh, I I trade on anything else. Yep. Got >> How much money did you spend here? >> $422. >> So, >> guess I'm a little confused as to why we're stealing them. >> What's that in this? >> Police didn't hesitate to ask direct questions about the incident, but the woman remained completely silent. Don't Don't breathe heavy with me. You were 60 years old in shoplifting. >> Absolute ridiculous. >> The woman failed in her attempt to deceive the police. Her lies only worsened the situation, and officers made it clear that her dishonesty had made matters far worse. >> You're old enough to know better. I can >> then you buy. Yeah, I'm sure you could. You can also go to jail for everything, too. >> Okay. >> That's our specialty. >> We teach everybody a lesson that has shop in it. You have to learn at your age and you have to learn at your age. >> You lie to me three times. >> Usually, if you don't want to go to jail, you don't lie. >> I think I saw most of >> I think I think all the rest of you can go to jail. >> You can please. >> That's not your option, unfortunately. Well, this is the deal. If you shoplifted here today, you shoplifted prior to this, too. You didn't just all of a sudden say, "I'm a shoplift today." Nobody ever does that. And people use the being an older lady acting like people don't watch you. A lot of older people steal because they've been getting away with it for years. You know how I know that? I've arrested a lot of older people stealing. So, arrested a car before. So the cards paid for. Won't be appointed to represent you for any question if you wish. You can decide at any time by exercise your rights. I ask no questions. We're making statements. Do you understand your rights? You want me to? >> You want me to do it? >> So, what was the entire purpose of coming in here today? >> Yeah. >> To pay for some stuff and steal some stuff. Obviously, you got away with it a couple times prior. You said >> it wasn't like >> you stole from here before, you >> So, if you've done it before here, that was kind of probably an intention of coming in here and doing it again. Was it exciting? >> No. >> Then why do we do it? It's $40 and you just paid $400 worth of [ __ ] >> Was it a little exciting? Get your nerves going. Get that adrenaline rush. >> Then what's your reason for it? >> Nothing bad, I guess. >> Probably not. >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft. Being caught in lies repeatedly erodess trust and leaves no room to control the outcome. accepting responsibility honestly is far more effective than trying to evade it. >> I have psychological problems like I have mental issues like bipolar, anxiety, depression, all that and schizophrenia cuz you meet people like me off duty. >> Okay. Is that >> okay? No, it's not. >> On March 25th, 2024, deputies received a call from Walmart reporting a suspect fleeing after stealing a cart full of merchandise. Upon arriving at the scene, they approached her in the parking lot and the woman fully confessed with a face showing no guilt. Fine. >> How are you? >> Good. >> Awesome. >> So, what's up? >> Okay. Is this your car over here? >> No. >> All right. Would you come over here with me? >> Where? >> Over in this way. >> For what? >> So, we're doing an investigation right now. Apparently, somebody walked out with a >> car and put it in a random car. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, that was me. >> Okay. Would you come over by the car with us? Uh, >> whose car is it? >> What do you mean? >> Whose car is it? >> I don't know. Me neither. Okay. All right. So, where's all your stuff you took out of the store? And >> I just put I put it in a random car that was open. >> In a random car that was open for what? >> What do you mean for what? >> Because y'all come y'all was coming. >> Okay. So, you just put all the stuff in a random car. You didn't know? >> Yeah. It's a game I was playing. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> What for? >> Um, just for the hell of it. >> Okay. You got any ID on you? >> No. >> I left it in the car. >> Which car? >> We're in a car. I don't know what car it was. >> What color was it? >> Um, silver. >> Silver. >> Gray. Can you go get it for me? >> It was baffling to witness the woman's attitude at this point. She claimed to have organized a stealing game and expected the deputies to help retrieve the items she had hidden. Yet, when asked for more details, she couldn't remember anything. >> What kind of vehicle were you driving? >> It's like gray or silver or something. >> What kind of make model? >> Um, I don't know. >> You have no idea what kind of car you were driving. >> No, because y'all were coming and I just ran up to the car and put It's a game that we play. It's called 21. It's basically you go and steal all that you could steal and then you get out without getting caught. Well, I did it one other time than this time, but I got caught this time. So, now I got to figure out where my purse is and where my merchandise is because now I got to give all the merchandise back to Walmart. Well, it's not really a game, but it is a gameft >> to you. That's theft state of Florida. >> It's fun, too. It's really fun. >> Oh, going to jail is fun. Okay. >> Well, I suppose. Am I going to jail? >> Well, we'll see how much stuff you took. >> It's a lot of >> So, where's the car at? >> I don't know. >> Okay. >> What's your name? >> It's Amber. >> Okay. >> And I don't find it funny. I'm just very bubbly. >> Okay. Did you Is the car yours or are you renting it? >> I don't know whose car it was. >> It's just a random car. >> It's just a mine car. Yeah. Put your hands behind your back for me. >> Do you want that? >> What's wrong with your arms? Broken. >> My pinky is so be careful. >> Oh, wait a second. >> We'll get that. We'll get that. >> We'll get Stop. >> Her excitement at being caught said it all. There was no trace of guilt. Even her worry wasn't about the consequences of her actions. She seemed concerned only with other unrelated matters. But my boyfriend doesn't know that I steal >> and he doesn't know that I put all this in the car neither. >> Okay. >> So I would be really in trouble with him. >> But that's that's the thing. >> So what kind of car is it? >> I don't remember cuz it's a rental. I just got the rental car. What color? >> I thought you said it was someone random this morning. >> Yeah, I know. I lied to you. >> Her her boyfriend rented the car. >> Yeah, he rented a car. >> Hold on one second real quick before we go any further. Okay. >> She's just going to read the right to remain silent. >> Okay. Blah blah blah blah blah. But we we still have to read it before we >> can. It's like music to my ears. >> Anything you say can and will be used against you in court law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have him or her Okay. You said yeah. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> All right. Cool. So anyway, that's done. Um like I was saying, yeah, that's my boyfriend's car. He ran in the car and he was shopping and I had found all the that I wanted because they told me to play 21 and my boyfriend's older than me, so he doesn't play that. And I started playing the game. This is my first time playing the game. And I put the [ __ ] in in the back of the car and I saw you guys coming. So I walked off. My boyfriend knows nothing about it. I don't even know where at. >> So he's here with you now? >> Yeah. If I could call him, can I call him? >> What's his name real quick? >> Matt. >> Matt. What? >> Um you call him Matt. Like >> what's his uh birth name? Matthew. >> Yeah. Can you put I got it. >> But um yeah, he doesn't know anything about it. >> No. Stay in there. >> Oh, I'm not getting out. I'm not getting out. So, do you have a [ __ ] with me or are you GOOD? CUZ YOU ASK ME QUESTIONS, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT A ATTITUDE. >> Are you good? >> Am I yelling? BUT I'M JUST LETTING YOU KNOW HOW THE REAL WORLD WORKS. >> IT'S NOT. >> OKAY. CUZ YOU'RE A HARD ASS WITH THAT. BUT YOU'RE NOT WITHOUT IT. >> OH, >> YES. YEAH, >> what's in the bag, sir? >> Clo the like that again. You stupid. >> You're not hard and that's noting purpose to be an officer. Y'all throw a lot of Can Excuse me. Can you take these off while I'm in the car? Because it's my >> Can't do that. >> Yeah, but my pinky. >> Clearly, it wasn't an attitude meant to plead with anyone. Shortly after, deputies located the car reportedly belonging to her boyfriend containing the stolen merchandise, but there were still many surprises waiting for them. Okay. So, is your boyfriend still inside? >> Can I call him? >> Yeah. >> Was there a Kia? Was there a great Kia circling the area? >> I didn't see it. I mean, yeah. >> Everything seemed ordinary at first, but deputies discovered a safe filled with suspicious items. Let's see what was inside. It's signal zero right out now. >> And there's a baggie underneath there. >> What is this? >> Is that a lights? That's a That's a >> Oh, >> I'm rolling. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> All right. Fun box. Oh, we got white powder, everybody. >> All right. We'll keep it away from our face. >> What do you mean? So you want to sniff it on. >> This is one of those boxes that Sergeant Weaver found behind the license plate one time. >> Yep. Uh >> kind of. >> Yep. >> Yeah, it's uh >> uh we're going to have to do pill ID just to verify. >> Yeah. I mean, they look >> they look like what the bottle is describing. Yeah. >> Is that Marana? >> We also got white powder. >> Um, but we got white powder. I got some of the >> more powder. >> It's possible [snorts] that the woman had no mental illness at all. The items deputies discovered were what triggered her state. Even so, she showed no concern and continued to act innocently. Still convinced she was just playing a game. >> What did I do? >> You wouldn't be in the back of the cop car if you didn't take >> stretch for a second. >> Yeah, we're going to go over to my car. >> My boyfriend's came out. Like, it's really hurting my arm. It's jerking my arm. >> So, where's he at? >> I don't know. Probably shopping. >> We've been out here for like an hour and he has anything. I don't have my phone. Can I have my phone? >> No. >> Can y'all loosen these? >> I I just I just adjusted it. >> For a second. >> Yeah. You got a couple of seconds, then we got to get you out of here. >> Hurt and it's like cutting off my circulation because of my pinky. >> So, turn your hand >> where? There you go. Like that. And >> it's But it's still hurting my arm. >> Okay. There's nothing I can do about it. >> Can y'all just take me to the thing then? Take me to Awesome. Right. >> This >> Yeah. >> It's either going to be hashish or heroin. >> You want to test it now? >> You can test it out. That's fine. Just >> um either way. >> Let me see. >> Amber now faces serious charges including grand theft, meth trafficking, and possession of marijuana, hashish, and drug paraphernalia. Treating theft as a game can quickly escalate into serious legal trouble, especially when illegal substances are involved. It's clear that a lack of remorse and disregard for consequences only worsened her situation. Next, [music] the employee was terminated from her job due to her wrongful actions. >> Was this $21 $200 in one penny? >> But just trying to help my dad with his medical bill, my mom with some of the house bill. >> On December 20th, 2024, police responded to a report from Home Depot regarding a cash theft. The suspect was identified as an employee of the store. At the scene, authorities noted that the loss from this incident was far from insignificant. >> So, it's a crash. [laughter] It's been occurring since 21st. So, it was >> we had shortages at 1400, but we were only able to validate 600 because of where she was at the time on the register. >> So, she works here. >> Yeah, she works. She's she's admitted everything to our manager. >> Okay. Um, this one doesn't show up, but I'll show it to you. >> Um, the you say you have it saved? >> Yeah, I have everything saved. >> So, what is she doing? Like, what? Like, say for what is this? Like, what is she doing? >> She's basically just like taking money out of the register and just putting it on the bottom. >> Okay. >> And then she'll put it off to the side and then take it later on. >> Oh, okay. Got you. So, it's a theft. It's only 600 bucks. Well, not only cuz that's a lot, but um >> the verified amount is 600. >> The verified amount is 600, I guess. I guess the other time she was on the other registers, they don't have a paper right there. Hi. Hello. >> Um, I'm just going to get a sworn statement from you before we talk to her. What's your title? [clears throat] >> District asset protection manager. >> Could you tell me what happened? >> Okay, so there's cash shortages um that were uh reported to me. Um, we had exposure of 1,450, but we're only going to charge for what we have on video, which is $600. And I did the interview today and she admitted to um needing to help her family out with medical bills and she admitted to taking the money and she was sorry. And um it's anything over $100 from legal prosecutors. >> Every move and action of the employee was clearly captured on the store surveillance cameras. The staff fully understood exactly how she carried out her theft. >> So you can see the customer left. >> That's that's what she was doing. And then hides it behind. That was that was pretty blatant. >> Jesus. >> Okay. And that was the $200. >> What's this? 2001. $200 and one penny. >> But I'm sure it was just 200. Like it was 450 is what it looked like. >> Yeah. Yeah. She took them from out the bottom. >> Okay. And you got the time. >> 520. Well, she started at >> 59 and then 520 >> and then So, so, so that's what she did. She picked it up >> and then >> got got the 50s and then threw it back or 20s or whatever the hell it is. That looks like a lot more than >> these are these are hundreds. I don't think she takes I'm sure she probably has to take all of that. >> Oh, those are all hundreds. >> Yeah. I think she contemplating knowing how much. No. No. cuz it it looks to me like she's trying to count the drawer. >> Mhm. >> Someone was walking by. >> She put two. She only took out two. >> Okay. >> At that moment, the female suspect was summoned to a private room immediately after her shift. Her tense expression clearly revealed her anxiety over the situation. >> Um, all right. So, first what we're going to do is I just want to verify who I'm speaking with. So, what is your name and date of birth? to exercise. >> Okay. Um I just want I'm going to come closer to you just so you can hear me. I'm going to read you your um Miranda rightites. All right. And then you stop me if you have any questions. Okay. >> So with that being said, do you have any questions on the Miranda Miranda rights? >> Okay. >> Do you understand the Miranda rights that you >> All right. I'm going to jail. >> Well, we just need to first we got to see what what happens here and then that's something that I will have to discuss with somebody higher up than me if you're going to go to jail. All right. But the crime has been committed. Okay. Um so with that [snorts] being said, you know, Home Depot gave us um these documents here. So I just need you to kind of walk me through what happened on each of these occasions that the ones that I'm going to ask you a question about. Do you remember most of the occasions of these happening? One in October. Um there was one in October where you kind of took um $200. $2001. >> All right. So, I'm just going to kind of tell you what it was. It looks like um you would place the um you know, you place bills, right? >> The suspect fully admitted to the allegations without offering any defense. She recounted all her actions with a palpable sense of guilt. I think the last time I took money was about a month ago. >> And what do you know how much you took? >> Um probably 10020 $200. >> 100 to $200. Okay. And then how would you take it? >> Um >> obviously you didn't just go and grab it. Yeah. while doing um strip I would count it then I would take 100 out or 20 out of it. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So you're counting you're counting money and you would >> strip. >> Okay. For what you what strip >> cash strip. Okay. So you would take a bill out or two bills out of of money you were counting and then what would you do? I would put it on the keyboard. Under the keyboard. >> Okay. >> And then I would send the rest back. >> Okay. So, you take the money out, you got a keyboard, you like slide it under the keyboard, and then you put the rest of the money back into the cash tail. >> Okay. And how would you get the money from the keyboard? The woman showed genuine remorse for her actions, even shedding tears as she explained the reasons behind what she had done. >> Just trying to help my dad with his medical bill and my mom with some of the house bill. >> Okay. How old are you? >> I'm 19. Just turned 19. >> So your father has some medical issues issue. He have he had to get the surgery for pacemaker. >> Okay. and he doesn't he's not from here. So he has a a insurance card and stuff like that. >> So you weren't you weren't keeping the money for for your personal use. >> You you were helping. >> My mom she worked 40 hours but against that and sometime it doesn't cover the whole to amount for the rent. So once in a while if she doesn't have that, I will give her $200 just to cover to cover the house. >> Oh, cover the rent and the bills for the house. >> Especially I haven't gotten into a car accident, but my my other card. So the rest of the money we had to pay, [snorts] I would help her out until it was fully covered, right? >> That that [snorts] sounds like a lot of money. Uh probably more than $500 by, you know, medical expenses. And >> I don't pay all the medical expenses. >> With everything confirmed, the police made their decision. And she also received the final consequences from her workplace. >> Can I have my hoodie? Yeah. What what locker is your stuff in? >> Okay, we're not going to fake it. >> She sees it verbally. >> Yes. I just have to let you know that you are no longer employed with the Home Depot. Okay. I'm sorry. He's still right. Learn from the mistake, please. We just have to make sure there's no weapons inside here. >> That took a lot longer than I was expecting. >> Where? >> My jacket. >> This my care about us. Well, at least we know where the LP offices now, right? >> The suspect was charged with scheme to defraud under $20,000. Her story shows that even well-intentioned actions that break the law carry serious consequences. It's a [music] reminder that honesty and seeking proper help are always safer than taking matters into one's own hands. Next, meet the robot man who merely repeated his words as if programmed. On January 18th, 2024, police received a report from Walmart about a theft followed by a suspect fleeing the scene. The male suspect ran to a nearby gas station, immediately triggering a tense pursuit. Come here, MAN. Still running. We're inside. That's how it come. Stop. STOP. 329. He's uh still over here. He's right next to my car walking. >> Every move he made showed he was familiar with the area and skilled at fleeing, but he had no idea that other officers were waiting for him elsewhere. Hey, you better come here. Get on the ground. Drop the bag and get on the ground. Drop the bag. Do it now. Your hands. Give me hands. >> 314 radio one detain. Yeah, that was Come here. Hey sir, if you lean back like that, I'm going to charge obstruction and I'm a lieutenant. You been waiting on me and I'm in here. Come on, buddy. Head down. Put your head down. There you go. Thank you. Hey, hold on. >> Here, sit front feet. >> The man seemed to give up when he saw police blocking every route. His words appeared to repeat nonsensically, but in reality, they only served to provoke the officers. >> She died, too. She died, too. She died, too. too. >> Robber. >> Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. I bet I die. >> I bet I die. Only a kill. You ain't going to kill him. Okay. That word may be dead long. >> The man's repetitive, almost programmed speech clearly reflected his mental instability, but it quickly escalated into even greater chaos once he was seated in the patrol car. It's all good. >> Hey, I can't breathe in here. >> I can't Can YOU BREAK CUT THE CONE? CUT THE CONE THEN. NO, I CAN'T BREATHE. I just told you I can't breathe in here. >> You should have been running. >> Cut the car. Cut the car though, dog. Cut the car. >> Let's do [ __ ] boy. >> Move your foot, man. >> Move. Move your foot. This is me very carefully. >> Yo, pull his ass back over there. >> I got him. Hey, I told you I couldn't breathe. Hey, I just tell you I don't breathe. >> No seizure could cause someone to curse so coherently. Immediately after the police took firm action, his condition seemed to subside entirely. I'm kill you. I'm kill you. I'mma kill you. I'mma kill you. J little [ __ ] Let me get bro. Yeah. I'mma kill you. He dirty. >> No, you ain't got to do that. Ain't nobody over there. >> Oh my god. 1052 street. >> What What's your name, man? >> I ain't got no idea. I ain't got no idea. >> And y'all porn white, man. You go ahead. You go ahead. When I'm out the way, you go ahead. You scared to die. You scared to die. Look at them. Don't talk. Don't talk to God. They talking about absolutely when you threaten me. You scared to die. I look at you. They scared to die. They scared to die. Look at them. They scared to die. They risk another man beside they. That's all they good at. They scared to die. You got to start. You said I won on you. I went on you pull. You try to get me a robbery. Look at you. You going to die. Die. Shortly after, police returned to Walmart and spoke with staff and witnesses. Could something crazy have happened there? >> But I didn't see him using it at the jewelry and stuff. >> So, he picked out two bags, started filling the watches that were pumped watching them. Then he grabbed a TV. >> So, the book bags don't belong to me. >> Correct. No. >> And then he grabbed a TV and he went to hardware where the hand tools are at. And I went to go in front of him and then he kind of was like, "Get me prepared." And then he laid the TV down and he start reaching his pocket like he had some. So of course I retreated back up and he just took off running down the aisles over saying don't get blasted. Don't get blasted. And that's when he took off went out the door went down. >> Okay. We didn't see him cut anything with a knife. >> No, I didn't see him. >> But um on the 15th he did the kind of the same thing. We had everything in a buggy and he ran out this door, ran straight ahead. He was still loading up merchandise from where he stole the car trunk over. But uh that was on the 15th but nobody was able to find but he came back again today. So >> do you have a total? Do y'all have a total for the 15th? >> Yeah, war got it. It was what 636 >> tax before tax was like 583. >> They definitely over 500. So >> do y'all want to press charges for the 15th or >> 3 days ago the 15th? >> No 15th December 15th. >> All right. I guess we're off. He was transported to Deobb County Jail where he continued acting up and put on a dramatic scene. >> What you saying do speak? >> Step out of the car for me. >> Okay. >> At the police station, the man showed no guilt. Instead, he continued insisting that he was the victim in what he will claim was a setup portraying him as the criminal. >> Where you want me to go, though? >> We're going to go right here. >> Okay. I know. >> No. back here behind the line. >> No, you won't ask me though, [ __ ] You going to tell me you behind the line for me. Before you ask me anything, you going you going to [ __ ] say, [ __ ] and I want the proof before I give you any information on my [ __ ] Jeffrey Reese, [ __ ] You going to say ain't scared, [ __ ] I bet YOU [ __ ] I BET you [ __ ] FOR 10 ON EVERY COUNT. 10 ON every 10 count. >> Stand over here. I'm 10,000 on the HEAD OF I'M 10,000 ON YOUR HEAD AND POLICE. YOU can't take that. You can't take it. You can't take it though. SO STOP BELIEVING IN THE POLICE. YOU AIN'T GOT NO MONEY. PAY 10 ON YOUR HEAD. You ain't got no money. And And the United States ain't got 10 on. I'mma take 10. I GOT 10,000 ON EVERY POLICE IN GEORGIA. I got 10,000. I got 10,000 since you pulled that. I got,000. 10,000. Now I pay you half now. Half one sp 10,000. 10,000 on police and one off. They just pulled the mother goddamn. They pulled the movie 10,000 10,000 and I ain't going to catch you. Keep your mask on. I ain't got for you, boy. You living in the fire. Let youard what you said though. >> I just heard what I just heard what you said. Hit me in my face. >> I just heard what the YOU SAID, >> MAN. YOU JUST SAID WHAT YOU SAID THOUGH. >> What you WHAT YOU TALKING ABOUT? YOU JUST SAID WHAT YOU SAID THOUGH, DOG. WE CAN'T SHOW CUZ WHAT? I HEARD WHAT YOU SAID THOUGH. OH, what you BING MAN? WHAT HE SAYING THEN? >> What you doing? >> Okay. >> I don't understand none of this. >> How was it? Was it [ __ ] What you doing? >> That's it. >> Finally, the man was charged with two counts of theft by shoplifting and obstruction. This combination only escalated tension with the police and complicated the situation, showing how unressed instability and refusal to take responsibility can spiral into chaos. Next, the man even knew to turn back. >> Things are can be tempting, especially when you're in, you know, negative position. On May 18th, 2024, police were dispatched to Target after receiving a report of a man shoplifting. Upon arriving at the scene, they immediately set up a covert stakeout outside to catch him in the act. >> He's got a receipt. Hey sir, come back over here. >> What's going on? >> Come back over here. >> What's going on? >> Yeah. >> You going to explain to you? >> You just got to get out of the middle of the road. >> Don't back up. >> No, I'm saying I just had >> Let's not do this. >> No problem. I had a receipt if I stood out. Let's see. I can put this stuff back. You know what I'm saying? I I >> funny business. You going to get paid? Stop. Stop. Dropping dropping stuff. Okay. Dropping the stuff, sir. Okay. >> I ain't got nothing with the other hand. >> Put that arm behind your back. Behind your back. >> I am >> behind your back. >> I am, sir. >> No. No. Stay facing forward, sir. >> Keep your legs in front. Right here. Put your legs right here. >> I'm not doing nothing resistance, sir. >> Actually, you are. You are. Because of his attempts to evade the police, they were forced to temporarily detain the man. He was then escorted to the LP office, displaying an uncooperative attitude. >> It's all in just a moment. I got I got paper sto that way. We're going back over to the store. Okay. Is she with you? >> Huh? >> Okay. >> Yeah, we'll go back in the office. >> Have a seat right here. Actually, stand back over. >> All right. So, do you have anything on your person that we need to know about? So I'm sorry Johnson. I know we so we're here because I'm going to read your things. >> Shortly after the police directly stated the reason why they were there and it appeared that he showed no shame as he made empty pleas about changing his ways. So, right now just explain to you why we're here, what we're doing, uh, and guess what on camera shop. >> All right. So, go ahead and check your pocket. Is there anything on your first so I had the paper? >> So, the thing is that receive right there is from the >> Oh, okay. You know, so I ain't really [ __ ] to it, so I got to pay for this stuff. >> Yeah, I'm sorry. >> Stand back up. I got to check you real quick. >> What's in the canister? >> What's up? [snorts] I said I had I had when I had my stuff in my jewelry and face that stay just like that. >> During the investigation, police realized that this man was no stranger to the law and he was even still on probation. >> Okay. >> Are you on probation now? I wouldn't do what I would even know. I had cash. >> That's That's behind you now. >> How much was it? How much was it? The >> last I saw was 500 and counting >> the 500. >> 500. >> Yeah. >> What? I would What? >> You remember the Pokemon cards? >> I ain't got no Pokemon card. >> Yeah, that whole card was yours with the trash can in it. I knew I stole from my 25. >> So I think he caught on to us like watching him, his girl pointed us out. >> I'll be right back. He might let his name out. >> This car was here. We have video of it out. You guys want to charge him for what he bought out with? That's okay. So where did he where did he bring where did he leave the car baby? >> The man fully expressed his desire to turn his life around and the police offered him some advice in hopes that he would truly stop continuing his wrongful behavior >> to the top. >> So you can move your way up, man. But can't let stuff like this get you down, man. I don't know where you live. You said you live with your mom. Yeah, >> okay. You got kids? No kids. Well, that's a good thing. I say it's a good thing, but it's a good thing in the sense that that's not an extra thing that you have to worry about while you're getting yourself together. But I'm sure you don't need to hear from me. I'm sure your mom probably talked to you about it, too. Did you go to LA? So, >> I have no idea. No, >> it's full of >> criminal history. >> Is in the end, you're a grown adult. We as adults have to take responsibility for action. So, if you do something that you shouldn't be doing and you know you shouldn't be doing it, if you get a consequence for it, you just got to suck it up and keep moving. Try to do better on on the flip side of it. So, I don't know what she's going to decide to do, but if she decide to charge it, you just got to take it and run with it. But things are can be tempting, especially when you're in, you know, a negative position. But can't let that overpower you, man. You just got to keep pushing in life. And even if it's a job that you don't want, get out there, get you a job, make them make make the money and build on the money that you make from there, just keep moving, keep moving, keep adding on and adding on. >> So that's the old lady outside. She's still alive. >> Yeah. >> With his initial cooperation, the store ultimately issued a trespass order against him and he was released shortly afterward. >> All right, guys. This is just a trespass order. Um, I'm sorry. Don't worry about it. In the end, the man was charged with misdemeanor theft, issued a citation, banned from all target locations for 2 years, and released after the paperwork was completed. Sometimes realizing your mistakes and choosing to stop is the only chance you get to change the direction of your life. In the next case, a simple shoplifting quickly turned into something far worse. >> Two times my size, lady, I'm not a fighter. Yeah, I'm going to say that. >> On the 27th of September, 2023, police received an emergency 911 call from a Circle K store about a theft that had occurred. But the situation was far from simple because surveillance footage revealed something far more shocking. >> No. Yeah. HEAT. MY FAMILY OUT. >> According to the report, these women were questioned about their shoplifting and reacted with violent behavior. And even when officers arrived at the scene, the aftermath was still clearly visible. It smells like there's alcohol everywhere. This lady trashed my store. She came behind the counter. >> Literally came behind the counter and attacked her. >> Okay. >> And there's >> It goes on and on throughout the store on our way out. >> All right. Are you injured anywhere, ma'am? Like >> I don't think so. I have little cuts and scrapes. My glasses are broken. >> Do you need EMS? >> No. >> No. Have you ever seen this person before? >> I'm pretty sure she's come in before. Yeah. Okay. The lady trying to steal. I >> saw him on camera. Let me ask question. Was she in Was she trying to steal? >> Yes. >> And you confronted her? >> I asked her where are the cans of alcohol that she had cuz I watched her take it out of the door cuz she put them in the cop that's down here after she threw it at me cuz they smell like alcohol. It's all over the machine. >> Joe, she poured them in there. >> Yeah. So when I asked her where the cans were, she got all defensive and then was like, "Say alone." And then she threw the [ __ ] cup at me. Sorry. She threw the cup at me. >> Okay. >> And then she came around the corner and >> she hit me. So I hit her back. >> Okay. >> And a customer, a male customer that was trying to buy stuff came around the counter along with her little friend >> and had to pull her off of me. And then I told her to get the out and leave. And she kept running her mouth. She went outside, came back in, went outside, came back in, tried to trace me around the store again. And I kept walking away from her. And she kept calling me a scared. >> I'm not scared of you. I still don't want to lose my job. Not to mention, I'm 4' 11 and you're like what? 5 6 foot away from me. I'm tiny. I don't want to be beat up by nobody. >> What did you think about the employees response? Was it justified or not? Let's watch as she explained in detail what she was thinking at that moment. >> Same when they were bringing their those cups in. >> Um cuz I had seen her go over there cuz the doors make a ding-ding ding when you open them. So when they opened, I looked over there and I could see her and she had two cans in her hand. Walked over to the Polar Pop area on this side of the counter. >> So then when she came up with her friend, she had two Polar Pop cups, but no cans. So I already knew I'm not dumb. I've worked for Circle K for 7 years. I know how this works. So I was like, "Where's the cans of alcohol?" And she goes, "Oh, I didn't want them anymore, so I threw them away." And I said, "Well, can you go get them so you can pay for them?" And she goes, "Why don't you go get them?" and was in my face and then picked up the cup and she was like, "Say I won't like to throw it at me." Which she [ __ ] did. And I was like, "I'm not saying that you won't." I was like, "I just want the cans. You go get them." And she threw it at me and then she came around the counter and >> yeah, >> chaos. She hit me. I hit her. I might have hit the friend and the poor customer that was there cuz my glasses were off. >> So feet, fist, everything just >> Okay. When they came back into the store, did they say anything or >> the the friend didn't come back in? But she had come back in and she had went over there, which I'm guessing she was looking for her stuff. Um, she came back over there, was running her mouth, and I told her, I'm sorry for my language. I told her, "Get the out. Like, just get the out. Go away." And then she came back up to the counter and then started walking this way like she was going to come back over behind the counter. >> The friend? >> No, the girl that. So then I stepped over the on the floor to go that way and she called me a scared which you're two times my size lady. >> So these women showed no remorse at all even after the argument ended and one of the suspects even dropped her keys but sent her mother to retrieve them instead. >> I don't know what happened cuz I was home. So she text me and said she just got in the fight. >> Okay. So I'm like, "Okay." She said, "I just got in the fight to the circle cave and the lady think that me and the girl was stealing >> like that." >> And I'm like, she say, "I might be going to jail." >> Okay. >> So I was like, >> "Okay." >> Okay. >> So I don't know what happened inside the store. I don't know if she was in there stealing. I don't know. So, >> gotcha. >> I was >> I mean, >> if you if you do get a hold of your daughter, her best bet is just come talk to me. All right. He has my case number and go from there. >> Yeah. >> You know, you know what I'm saying? If if if her side of the story is different to what I was told, then I can write her statement what's going on. But from you just telling me saying that she got into a fight into into the store, I need her side of her story. Okay. >> Okay. >> But like I said, I gave him I provided him my name with the case number so owner of that of that of that key can come to the PD and claim it. >> Okay. She said, "Ma, I don't know if I will be going to jail." >> Okay. or not, but I just I'm just letting you know that I got into a fight with a lady at Circle K. We know what Circle K. >> Okay. >> Cuz she ain't seen the thing. Didn't say. >> So So called the police. She called somebody. She called the Okay. She called the police on me cuz she said that I was stealing which we wasn't. We was going to pay for it. me. >> In the suspect's messages to her mother, she never admitted to committing any theft. And at that point, officers tried to persuade the mother to have both suspects come forward to cooperate. >> Whatever. I work till 7. Her best bet is to to call me so I can talk to her in person and go from there. Cuz if not, I'm I'm going to put out a warrant for her arrest. That's fine. >> Okay. But it's my thing. I'm just being as mama. For real. For real. I rather her be in jail >> cuz most people I ain't saying you but most people in general will actually shoot past. >> So all I do >> is tell you to do what you need to do sir cuz >> this is too much for me. >> Okay. >> But I like I said I don't know what happened in this store. They got cameras. >> Yeah. >> So, whatever happened, I'm quite sure they gonna run the cameras back. >> All right. >> Oh, okay. >> I got you. >> So, what she stealing? >> [ __ ] Be honest with me. She was stealing. >> Shame. >> It seemed that her daughter's shoplifting did not surprise the mother at all. And at that point, officers asked for the woman's information as a way to find a means of contacting the suspect. Mom, do you uh mind if I take your ident your name that may contact you? You know, you asked for the keys, but I cannot, you know. >> I'm Alicia Jacobs, and yes, I have been in trouble. >> I don't care if you've been in trouble. >> Just letting [laughter] you know. >> Hey, how you feel right now? How you feel right now? >> I feel good. >> Like a damn snitch. [laughter] >> [laughter] >> Sorry, but you didn't hear that, >> boy. When I get home. >> So, you don't have your ID on you? >> No, I don't have my ID. >> All right. Can you just write it down for me real quick then? >> I told on my damn self. How about that? >> Oh, that was funny. >> No, that ain't no funny. I'm sorry, but I had to do >> He had to say it. [laughter] >> Funny. I'm just standing over here laughing. >> How about them apples? >> Long as I told on myself. >> Mom's dropping everything. >> I was a bad girl. >> I'm a good kid. >> Yeah, he's a good kid. Thank you, Jesus. >> I stay home and go to work for my family. >> Just full name and date of birth, please. Oh, >> boy. You pulled me up. >> I'm not going after you. I'm going after your daughter. >> Shameful. >> The suspects later turned herself in and was taken into custody. Now facing serious charges, including burglary with battery, petty theft, and criminal mischief. Actions driven by denial, only made the situation worse, turning a simple theft into serious criminal charges. Taking responsibility early and walking away from conflict could have prevented lasting consequences. Equally astonishing, the woman thought she was fast. >> Concealing. They're claiming that you were concealing merchandise. So right now, >> but I don't have anything. Okay. >> On October 11th, 2024, police received a call from Walmart regarding a woman who had committed retail theft. And upon arriving at the scene, employees immediately reported that she attempted to dispose of the evidence. >> You got rid of her stuff. >> Got rid of Wait. Got rid of what? And the other one um who's your Who's your friend, man? >> Who? >> The one you wear in the store with >> Got what? >> Curtains. Curtains. Curtains. Curtains. >> Curtains. Where's the curtain? >> I have no idea. >> Okay. Where's the curtains right now? >> You got rid of I need to know where you're going. >> Where? >> Do you have an ID with you though? >> No, I do not. >> Do you have a driver's license? Anything? >> No, I do not. >> You have a purse. You don't have an ID. >> Yeah. We're talking to the office. We're going to call you. >> Come in office from work. >> What's that? coming to office. >> I'm investigating a retail theft. >> So until we figure things out right now, okay, until we figure things out, then we need to >> but for what though? >> For what? What's your question? >> Cuz you saying that per statute in Wisconsin retail theft also constitutes for uh concealing. They're claiming that you were concealing merchandise. So, >> I don't have only video camera, >> but I don't have anything. Hear me out. >> Did you hear me say that? >> Hear me out. >> I don't I didn't. >> Hear me out. I'm going to watch these cameras and if it shows otherwise, you're going to be under arrest for for retail theft. So, >> but I don't have nothing on you. >> That's fine. >> The woman clung to the claim that she had nothing on her and was therefore completely innocent, refusing to acknowledge any other accusations and showing no intention of cooperating. >> Listen to me. I'm not going to ask you again, okay? Let's go in the out the office and we can talk. Well, I'm sorry. >> For what though? >> We can talk. Let's go. >> For what though? >> Ma'am, I'm not going to ask you again. Otherwise, I'll puss you in cuss and I don't want to do that. >> For we can talk in the OP. >> As far as he's concerned, you conceal items and that's a crime. You understand what I'm saying? >> Right. But he's saying that I I don't have nothing though. That's >> right. No, you don't. Correct. But in the store, it's the same thing. It doesn't matter. >> The crime was committed the moment you conceal anything. So, let's talk in the OP office. We can go from there. >> So, what you're saying right now, >> you don't have to walk past the last point of sale in the state of Wisconsin. If you say what >> we rip tags off the curtain. >> At this moment, officers stood above her, which astonishingly gave the woman an opportunity. Her very next action confirmed her guilt more clearly than any words ever could. Okay. >> 326. Stand this way. >> Okay. >> Head behind your back. >> Okay. Dang it. >> You can get again. Put your head behind your back. >> Hey, sir. Okay. >> Heads behind your back. >> All right. >> Now. >> All right, sir. Stop. >> Okay. No. Stop. Please. Look. Get down. Get down. Get down. Get down. Nope. N. >> No. Please. Stop. Please. I didn't do it. I don't have nothing. Come on, stand up. >> Oh, stand up. Let me put on my shirt, please. >> Stand up. It's okay. You ain't going nowhere. >> Okay, so you might >> All right. All right. No, wait. No, I want to put on my shirt. >> No, no, no, >> no. You No, it doesn't matter. You have the opa. It doesn't matter. You have the opportunity to be cooperative. >> You did. So, you're in the situation that you're in because you did it. >> I didn't do nothing. >> I didn't do nothing, though. >> Go. Sit down. >> Okay. Immediately after attempting to flee, she still insisted verbally that she had done nothing while simultaneously continuing to resist and make things difficult for the officers. What did you think about that? >> Stay down, >> please. >> You're making life hard for yourself. >> I got you. >> Can we still go to office? >> Look, we're past that. You're going to jail. You're going to jail now. >> But you just said what? Cuz you trying to say to you. >> All right. >> Stop resisting. >> I'm not resisting. That's another charge. >> No, I'm not doing that. Okay, >> sir. You literally said once we went in the office >> that we was going to watch the video. >> Hold on. Cuz we got wires all over. Yep. Did you rip them? No. >> Wait. Why is all >> Hold on. Hold on. >> You got to love. [cheering] >> Just lay flat. You're fine. You're not going anywhere. We got to get the paramedics out here to move these uh prongs out of you. Just lay flat. I'm gonna lay this down. >> Can you hold up to my phone? Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Please. No. >> You said no. >> Yep. Give me a second. >> I'm Your phone is the last thing I'm worried about. Your your uh purse. Last thing I'm worried about. >> Just roll. Yep. Roll your body over. Roll your waist over. Don't try to get up. Just lay flat. Wait. >> Lay flat. Lay flat. Lay just lay flat. The ground here. Can't sit on your butt. You have a whole crone in your butt right here. Sorry. What's your name? >> I mean, you got to tell us here after get it. We're going to get it regardless. >> What's the name? >> Police successfully apprehended the woman. Everything seemed to become much simpler as officers worked to collect evidence of what had occurred. >> Wait, wait, wait, wait, before you put me up. >> Wait, I'm trying to Hold on. Where are we going? That's not our priority. You want to do too much. That's not our priority right now. Stand up. Stand up. >> Wait. You got to stand on my booty still. >> No. >> What is this pokey me? >> What is this? >> It hurt. >> Hold on. >> There's nothing here. >> Wait. Do y'all see that? It's a lot of >> nothing there. It's probably from you hitting the >> brush right there. That's probably from you hitting the brush right here. That's got to be a stick or something. >> Wait. Can you grab my back? I got it. Let's go. >> Okay. Yo, come on. Get my >> go grandma pick it up. >> Where at? >> Hey Calvin, can you describe her name? I'm going to There's merchandise over here. >> This her hat? Yeah, that's the one she ran. >> In the end, the woman was charged with theft and resisting arrest. Actions speak louder than words. Denying wrongdoing means nothing when behavior clearly shows resistance and guilt. Cooperating early can prevent a minor incident from escalating into serious consequences. >> Stop. Don't run. What are you What are you What are you doing, ma'am? Relax. What is wrong with you right now? >> I need to go. >> You can't leave. You are not leaving right now. >> On May 2nd, 2023, police were dispatched to Wind Dixie after receiving a report of a shoplifting in progress. The suspect was a woman who had packed her cart full of merchandise and walked out without paying. As soon as they approached her, she acted evasive as if nothing had happened. >> You have a receipt or did you buy this? >> Um, no. No. I'm sorry. >> Don't leave. Come back here. Don't leave. Come back. Ma'am, come here. >> Ma'am, come. Stop. Don't run. What are you What are you doing? What are you doing? >> Please let me go. >> Don't No, you can't leave. You just you just got caught stealing. Come back here. You're detained right now. You cannot leave. Stay right here. Go to the sidewalk. Six copy at signal 30 at Windixie. >> Ma'am, don't don't leave. Where are you going? >> Stop touching me. >> You're detained right now. >> Stop touching me. >> You are detained right now. >> The woman's actions completely hindered the police. She didn't offer a single word of explanation, and her evasive behavior grew increasingly stubborn and complicated. Can I get a uh 1394? >> Stay right here. Where are you going? Stand right here. >> Is there anything? >> Ma'am, you need to stay right here. What? Give you have an idea on >> X1. >> Stay right here. Do not leave. >> Ma'am, what are you doing? What are you doing right now? You need to stay right here. Hey, here. Grab her. Ma'am, relax. So, what is wrong with you right now? >> I need to go. >> You can't leave. You are not leaving right now. Put your arms behind your back. Put your arms behind your back. >> I'm not going to try to leave. No, it's too late. I'm not playing this game anymore. >> Put your arm back, man. 601 to 10. >> From fleeing and passive resistance to the moment she was cuffed, she remained cold and indifferent, as if silently admitting her wrongdoing. On top of that, she didn't carry any ID. Right on time, huh? >> Pretty much. Where's your ID? I don't have one. >> You don't have one? >> You don't have one in your purse? >> Have another unit come by. Uh, can you have the manager come up? >> Yeah, you want me to take this in or leave right here? >> You can leave right here till he comes out and decides what he wants to do. >> Can you tell me what happened? Why you with your need stuff? >> Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I'm just trying to get stuff for my family. I'm sorry. And I I don't want to go to jail. That's the last thing I need right now. >> Why are you trying to run from me? I tell you not to move. Why do I have to grab you? I don't want Do you think I want to do this? >> No, I don't. I'm just >> I know they say you're scared, but you cannot run from the law enforcement. They're stopping you. You're esc You escalated this. You I don't want I didn't have to put cuffs on you. >> I just have her detained right there. >> Just looking for her on camera, actually. And it seemed like this was a planned theft as the staff confirmed through the camera that there were signs of a getaway vehicle. >> She was waiting for her ride for getaway car was actually parked in the front parking spot in that handicap place. >> You got it on camera? >> Uh yeah. >> Yeah. You got a tag on there or whatever. Even if you don't have one, >> I'm going to I'm going to try to get a tag for you now. >> 1439 from last night. >> I do got a I think I got a plane for you. All right, you're good to go. >> Make sure back with your property. So, with your bags and stuff. >> Yeah, I know. >> All right, go ahead. >> You go. Thanks a lot. >> Yep. You need anything else? You know what to put in your CRA and everything? I figured I'm going to go to I'm going to go to a station and get with Sergeant cuz uh >> records show her name is Samantha with a lengthy criminal history dating back to 2021 including multiple petty thefts, multiple failures to appear, mostly related to DUI, possession of controlled substances, driving while license revoked, violation of probation, and a series of grand thefts and retail thefts afterward. [music] By July 17th, 2024, Samantha continued to be arrested multiple times on similar charges, revealing a relentless pattern of criminal activity. Samantha's years of repeated crimes show that running from the law and ignoring consequences only traps you in a cycle of trouble. Take responsibility early or small mistakes can ruin your future. >> Bro, this is disrespectful. She's being disrespectful, bro. >> That lady, that lady was being disrespectful. Okay. >> Did he grab >> he grabbed a sandwich from a like I have the surveillance camera and everything that he stole his food. >> On January 2nd, 2025, police responded to a call from Subway regarding a sandwich theft. Upon arriving, the employee tried to explain the situation, visibly panicked after the incident. >> So, he has a black hoodie on with his hat backwards and it has yellow riding in the shape of a circle. He has like gray pants on and black Van shoes. >> He specifically like was getting irritated with me. I started texting 911 that he was here. >> Yep. >> And then >> did he grab >> He grabbed a sandwich from like I have the surveillance camera and everything that he stole his food. He like reached over the counter and grabbed the food. I can tell you what he got and everything. And I told my employee not to charge him. She's like, "I'm not." >> Do you want to press charges against him? >> Yes, I do theft and trespass. >> Immediately after receiving the suspect's description, police quickly learned he worked at a car wash. They arrived at the location without delay. Let's see what happened next. You have an employee who's wearing a black hoodie today with yellow writing on it. Yeah. >> Um, can I talk to him? >> He's on break right now. Maybe in McDonald's. >> McDonald's. Okay. Um, >> McDonald's. Okay. Um, oh, never mind. I think I raspberry. I've got eyes on. Thank you. He's uh he's evading us. >> What's going on, bud? Take your hands in your pocket. >> Standing nothing, bro. >> Stand over there. Quit arguing with me. >> Bro, this is disrespectful. She's being disrespectful, bro. >> That lady That lady was being disrespectful. So, >> figure out what's going on. >> I can pay for it. Like, that don't mean nothing. Like, >> it's nothing. But that lady was being disrespectful towards me, >> and that's fine. >> What the man was trying to say almost amounted to an admission that he hadn't paid for his food. Yet, he completely refused to take responsibility, continuing to make excuses for himself. >> You didn't pay for the food, right? >> Okay. But I was going to go tomorrow and pay for it. Like, it wasn't it wasn't like it wasn't like I was going to steal it. I had the money. And I know a manager. I've spoken to the manager before. >> Okay. And >> and I had the money. I could pay for it. But I was I was gonna tell the manager like I had problems and I was going to go to the manager the next day and tell her. >> All right. >> All right. Give me one second. Let me just read. Okay. Just let me read this and then you can tell me whatever you want and I'll hear these to you. It's up to you. These are your right. >> This is the money. This is I got the money. I got the money. >> Hold on. First please. I got I got Man, I could just go pay for it right now. It's It was that lady. It's the lady, sir. It was the lady that >> let him let him finish. >> I need I need a verbal yes or a verbal no if you were willing to speak with me after reading your Miranda rightites. >> Yes or no? >> All we're doing is trying to find out what's going on. >> But sir, I don't want to be arrested because of this, sir. >> Okay. >> I have I have the money for it. I was going to go to the manager the next day. That lady. Okay. >> You guys eat. >> In reality, he would never have ended up in this situation if he had paid for his food. At this point, he still completely shifted the blame onto the employee, claiming she had treated him poorly. >> They're right there. So, today I go in there. It's four o'clock. I haven't ate. She She making my She's She First of all, I go in there. I waited for so long. I'm only have a 30-minut break, so I'm getting irritated, sir. And I'm like, 15 minutes. 15 minutes passed by. And she's like, "Oh, it's not my problem." So, she's giving me an attitude straight off the bat. So, I So, I go, "Okay, whatever." I let it go. I let it pass then. Okay. And then she she makes my sandwich. She turns on the oven. >> Uh-huh. >> She burns the sandwich. >> Okay. >> She burns the sandwich. And then like cuz she she runs off somewhere in the back again. And I'm like, "Lady." So I when she comes back, I told her I was like, "Listen, I only have a 30 minute break." And I feel like we already had this discussion already where you understand that I'll just want my food and pay for it and get out of here. >> Something happened over there that caused us to have to put him in handcuffs because we weren't sure. Uh, no problem. >> Okay. >> Thank you so much. >> Yeah, no problem. As soon as soon as we know what's going on, I'll let you know. >> If if you Let's Would >> Could you once you've done everything that you've done? >> Mhm. >> Uh, if he is to leave with you, >> Mhm. Could he speak to me before leaving? >> Yeah. Well, I'll I'll make sure that the arresting officer, if if he is, uh, lets him know they need >> the order. Okay. The only person. And it took 30 minutes. So, she started yelling at me. Uh, so I'm like, what's going on? And I'm I'm hungry. I'm irritated. I haven't had nothing to eat. I'm I'm starving. >> Shortly after, police returned to the store and collected additional evidence directly from the employee, clearly confirming his actions. Do you need the footage of the video? >> I was going to say if you do, that would be great. >> I have it and I trimmed it. I can show it to you right now cuz I just sent it to the general manager. >> Okay. >> Um he's right there and you'll see in one second that he like reaches over the counter. There you go. He steals it and runs out. I can send that to you or send it to whoever. >> Yeah, if you can send it to maybe one of our emails or something >> and then we'll see if maybe if I can just get a picture of him in the um BJ. >> You're not an investor. >> Hey, how you doing? Can you do me a favor? >> I know you're the owner. >> Yeah, >> but can you just >> Yeah, but I know that there is history between the lady and him. >> I understand that. But that's what I'm asking. If he if he if he took something without permission and without paying for it, >> she's a liar. >> Okay. He's already admitted that he didn't pay for the ice. >> Well, then that's his problem. >> I agree with you. We're going to let him talk to Did Did Did Did the manager want to talk to him or did you want to talk to him if he Cuz I don't know if he's going to Johnny Poke yet. But if he is, did did you want to talk to him or did the manager want to talk to him? Cuz the manager said he wanted to talk to him before he left. Or did you want to talk? I might just want to make sure we get the right person to talk to him because I guess he was probably just letting him know he still has a job or doesn't have a job. I don't know. >> The woman appeared as a relative of the man and fully defended him regardless of whether she had witnessed the incident. Police had to carefully explain the situation to avoid escalating tensions further. >> Seems that your passion, you care for him enough to get him maybe a little bit longer than 30 minutes to go get food if he really needed it. Number one. And number two, You already told him not to go over there, >> which is a decision he decided to make after number one, he wasn't allowed back over there and you told him anyways. >> His marbles are not there. >> He made a decision. >> McDonald's is right there that he could have walked to. So >> he made a grown decision to do what he did. And I mean now I understand you 100%. >> And with the his attitude has got to change. >> Yes. Um completely. >> He uh he wanted the vape and the cigarettes to go with her since we were okay with that. Um, I mean, >> I want to let him have a phone call, but he he only has Wi-Fi. I mean, I can't help. >> He He can We'll get his He getting some calls down there. I mean, I don't know if he's trying to call the manager. >> He said his girlfriend. >> His girlfriend. >> Yeah, his girlfriend. He's >> The man was charged with theft and violation of a trespass order. No matter personal grievances, failing to follow the law has real consequences. Accountability cannot be avoided and attempting to justify wrongdoing only worsens the outcome. Next, we moved into the bank to watch this unreorseful scammer in action. >> At this point, would I just be like, can I just take the charges and you leave? >> I sent you on a mission to try and cash this fake check. >> Nobody sent me on a mission to do anything else. On the 7th of August 2024, police responded to a reported fraud at Sec Coast Bank where the suspect was believed to be a woman who attempted to cash a check. And when officers approached, she provided a highly questionable explanation about the origin of the check. >> I don't I just explained to her I don't cash that came to me by my mailing address. >> It was a company that I used to work for during the like before the pandemic hit. So, you know, I even reached out to the bank myself, you know, and I even said, "Hey, this was sent to me by my mailing address. I don't need to cash a fake check. I have a legitimate job." >> Okay, everybody. >> So, I'm just saying like I don't need anything on my record cuz I ain't never been to jail for no fraud, nothing. So that's one thing for sure is like I never been to a jail for fraud. I never did fraud. That's like the second check I got by mail. The first one I just tossed it because it was like, you know, hey, I don't >> But if you look at the back, there's no watermarks or >> so. I don't deal with tracks anymore. I usually get everything strictly deposit. So that's why I'm like curious like hey I even called Ben before I came here >> and said hey can you guys verify this over the phone she said no >> you still have the letter the mail >> it was no letter it just came in an envelope >> or the envelope >> no I don't have the envelope sorry >> the woman insisted that even she herself was confused by the check and although the employee acknowledged this there were still factors that made them suspicious of her >> did she try to cash it or >> cash okay she's saying she just came in here to try to verify its validity. >> No, she asked to verify the check. I asked, she spoke to her. >> She told her that she'll verify it and what's her intentions to do with the check. She was she wanted to cash it with us. >> I we asked her where the you know checking from, but I'm mistaken. She said that she'd been waiting for it. >> She's coated on her >> and that magically just her $9,000 check. >> Yeah. What is my next step of filing a complaint against the company that sent me? >> No, we'll be we'll get there in a sec. >> You still live at the address in your license? >> No, I was going to change that. Um, I meant to change my address, so I've kind of got to change that on my next day off. >> That's not my license. Well, I'm in the process of moving. So, that's the I need the process of moving. So, that I got to change my license on this week. Well, next week cuz I took today to wipe and run, finish my home, doing errands and everything. >> And just like I explained to the young lady, I was like, I don't deal with checks period. Like, I usually have my bank to call and verify. I usually come to the bank wherever the check is issued to to have them to verify it. That's why I didn't go to my own bank because I didn't want a deposit and then have fraud hit on my own account. >> That was her explanation for going to a bank far from home. What do you think about that explanation? Yet, despite everything, she still believed she could take the money and leave easily >> at this point. Would I just be like, can I just take the charges and leave? >> So, >> even though it's not like >> So, are you admitting that you did something? >> No, I'm just saying. So why would you want to take the charges? >> Just so I can go. >> Well, you're not leaving. If you take the charges, you be going to jail. Leaving longer than 30 minutes. >> And if you was to see a check from that company, the signature don't even close. >> Okay. >> Nowhere near close. >> And then you know my peoples was like, um, go to the bank, check it out because you don't want to just stretch something that could be what they owed you. And I was like, nah, nah, I really don't need it. I have I have two jobs now, you know, like what do I really need it? But then >> they got a hold of somebody at that company. >> They didn't Well, I tried. Nobody answered for me. And what did they say? >> That is not a good check. >> Yeah. So, I've been really busy moving and working wise. So, I haven't like take the time out to come to a bank or go to my bank. >> At this point, officers worked in parallel, directly questioning the woman about any intent to commit fraud while simultaneously contacting the company named on the check. >> Hello. >> Hi. Hey. How you And this is officer B with OPD. >> Good. Um, so I guess a check from your company was they attempted to cash at the sea coast. >> That's what I'm saying. Like I can give you the manager's phone number. >> You gave us his name. >> Michael. >> Michael. It's a very common name. >> Oh, please don't make me try to remember the last name. It's It's [laughter] >> There's probably 20 Michaels that work in our department. >> Do you guys want to press charges? I mean, somebody somebody was trying to defraud your company on $9,000. It's up to you guys. >> But I mean, like, >> so we see this a lot. People get checks from people on the outside. They're like, "Hey, go to this bank, check the cash or cash the check, and I'll give you a percentage of it." >> No. >> None of that happened. >> Nobody told me to cash anything. The check literally came by mail. >> You didn't print that check yourself? >> No. You don't have a printer in your car? >> Cuz I've seen that, too. >> I don't have a printer in the car. If you want, you can literally My car is like literally right there. >> As the questioning continued, more inconsistencies appeared in her statement, clearly suggesting that the check had been prepared by her as she could not even accurately recall the details tied to it. >> Last month, I got a check by mail from the company that I used to work for. >> Um, >> last month. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What was the name of the company? It was um I don't remember their name. I just know it was a call center, but they had closed down when the pandemic hit. >> Okay. >> But >> how long did you work there? >> A year. >> A year. >> 6 months to a year before the pandemic came around. >> Okay. >> So, >> and you don't remember the name of the company? >> I'm sorry. It's just I worked so many jobs after that just trying to stay up with >> bills and everything. Um Okay. But >> you got direct deposit from them. Or did you get paid by check from them? >> From them. I got direct deposit. That was like >> a long time ago with an old bank like >> Okay. So you don't bank with that bank? >> I don't bank with Chase no more. >> Okay. So when you work for them, you bank with Chase? >> Yes. >> You got direct deposit from them via Chase? >> Yes. >> Okay. Um then after investing that job I went and started working. I need to go to McDonald's right away. >> Mhm. >> I applied for McDonald's but they said I don't have the qualification skills so I went >> really. Wow. Okay. >> So I went to SeaWorld. Got hired at SeaWorld New York and um >> Yeah. Who you now? >> Additional finance. >> Okay. So from Chase, you want the additional finance or >> No, I went to like a different bank after that. I went to West. >> Why you keep doing banks? >> Cuz like >> I had Chase Banks since I was in high school. >> I mean, it was like, >> you know, >> well, first I started with Bank America and then, >> you know, they start talking about how Bank America is scamming people and stuff. Then that's why I moved in Chase. >> Okay. So, the woman had experience dealing with multiple banks, raising the question of whether that was the reason she was able to recognize the issues with the check she brought in. >> So, you skeptical about the check? >> I just kind of just pushed it to the side cuz I had a lot going >> Why were you skeptical about the check? >> Because >> Was it the way that it looked? >> Yeah. >> Where's the check at? >> It was the way it looked and it was just like >> What? What about I was skeptical looking at it? What look what look weird about it? >> For one, a check is never this big. >> Okay, >> I'm just, you know, being straightforward. It's never this big. >> I've seen a couple checks that big before. >> Um the little gold stamp thingy. I have seen a check gold stamp or silver stamp or something. >> And it was just on the back, >> off the back. You can usually it'll say no copy, >> but it was just for me it was like I just folded it up like this and just >> let's look at the check >> and I just really put it in my wallet and I'm kind of just like >> did the fonts throw you off a little bit? >> Yeah. >> So looking at this check, right, using everything that you pointed out to me, right, it's probably fair to say this is a fake check. >> Yes. >> Yeah. Right. Um, all right. >> It was very likely that the woman had prepared her story as a fall back once police arrived. And at this point, officers tried to extract the truth from her. >> They're talking with me, but now I have a couple questions for you. Okay. And this is where I just want you to be truthful with me at this point. >> Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. Cuz you ain't been 100% with me. >> Yes, I have. And that's okay cuz I I got a quick memory. >> It happened. It's gone. I ain't even worried about it anymore. Okay. But I am worried about you at this point cuz someone got you in here cashing a check that you know it's fake. Okay. Hold on. Tell me what I'm talking about. Don't listen. Listen. >> When I looked at it by the mail and that's why I kind of was like I brushed it off. >> I was going to shred it myself but like I said >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Other co-workers and friends and I was like family. Look, they sound like family. Oh yeah. It's a chit check. cash, you know, I got my money type, but like whatever. >> But but you you and I both look at this check and you just told me that it was fake pretty much. >> Yes. >> All right. So >> that's the reason why I >> So So hold on now. Hold on now. I'm just going to everything that you told me and the conversation so far. I'm going to tell it back to you and you going to tell me how this makes sense. All right. Okay. You say you work at a call center, right? This should be a call center check, >> but you don't even know the name. This check is from Construction Inc. That's not a call center. Okay. For one. All right. Even if you did work at this company, okay, I called the company. We talked to the company. >> They don't know you and they don't know no Michael Cole. >> They don't know Michael Cole. Listen, listen, Ash. Listen, listen. Okay. That's not true. >> Okay. >> All right. So, I'm going to let you look at this check. I'm going to let you think about everything that you just told me. All right. I'm going to give you the second one, >> and I just want you to tell me the truth about the check. The truth. >> Now, listen. Listen, listen to me. >> Under police pressure, she eventually revealed more of the truth, introducing the involvement of her boyfriend, whose name appeared on the check instead of hers, contradicting her earlier statement. >> So, in the beginning, me and him had a relationship. >> Okay. Like you clearly see it >> a relationship over text? >> No, we was really in a relationship. >> Like you guys would see each other in real life. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Then he moved, you know, over there where he's at now. >> Where is that? >> In Connecticut. Overseas. >> Okay. Overseas in Connecticut. >> That's where he sent me to Connecticut. >> Okay. >> Um personally, I was like, "Okay, we can try to make this work." >> Mhm. M I thought I was like I don't want to do a long >> How long have you guys been trying this longist relationship thing? >> A good little minute. >> Okay. A good long minute is what a week or month. >> He's like I'm going to send you a check to pay for your expenses. >> Okay. Well, you need the check. >> But I waited until I had a day off to say hey I came to the bank and I said, "Hey guys, I got a check in the mail. It felt a little awkward for me to go to my bank to the deposit. I know it took a long time to process or whatever the issue may be and stuff. And I was like, you know, can you guys verify this? I was like, I don't care. >> Tell them tell him, call me and then tell him the police don't believe that story when he calls. Like I'm honestly telling you the truth. >> I think whoever this person is has sent you on a mission to try and cash this fake check. >> Nobody sent me on a mission to do anything else. >> I'm telling you the truth like 100%. >> So the check was not sent by a stranger and it was clear that the woman was directly involved with the fake check leading officers to place her under arrest. >> I've never been arrested before. I never had anything to do with anything. And it's just like it's really difficult for me to even try to process this because it's like I've never had to to do any of this before. >> All right, Ashley, stand up for stand up for my mom. >> I'm sure we can we can go ahead and contact her and say I can let her know, [snorts] please. Can I [music] Can I please call her? >> We We'll call her in a second. >> Say that. [snorts] >> I'm telling the truth, though. Like, I never had anything to do with [ __ ] >> You guys don't even have to arrest me. Yeah. Can I just call her, please? >> I'm sure they'll be call my fault, please. >> At this point, you're going to be in the custody of taking to jail, but I don't want to make any decisions for them. >> No, no. How can we make decisions? Can you just let me call her on my phone, please? I'm asking you. Just watch her, please. We can walk and talk, right? >> Okay. Can I just stand up here? >> We'll walk and talk. >> She had their mom. >> Yes. >> The woman was charged with attempting to pass a fraudulent check and taken into custody for her direct involvement in the scam. Trying to outsmart the system with a fake check only led her straight into handcuffs. Next up, an influencer also can be a shoplifter. >> It's not that's it. >> Yeah. >> Oh my god. >> DJ is not cheap. >> That is cheap. That is really cheap. I think I throw everything back once my husband was rushing me out because we were late for the show. >> On January 5th, 2025, police approached a woman known as singer Trang Dai, who was famous within the Vietnamese immigrant community, on suspicion that she had taken an accessory from a display case without paying. But it appeared that the situation was not going to be easy. >> I don't have it. And so what happened? >> Okay. >> I did buy >> on the video. It shows you were here yesterday. It shows you purchased coupons.com and it shows you took a keychain from the display case. I didn't >> And as they were bringing you up the it's the the iPod holder. >> I know. But as you were as you as you were bringing up the cologne, >> I looked at the uh iPod holder, but it didn't fit. So I didn't buy it. Well, but you walked out with it cuz they didn't. >> No, no, I didn't. >> Did you ask them if they can look around to see if it fell into it? Because it's really small. It doesn't >> They don't have it and you walked out with it. >> No, I did. >> And then you get back into the store and that's why they recognized you, >> right? I came back. So, I didn't do anything wrong. That's why I came back. If I did something wrong, why would I come back? >> That's That's what happened. So, you walked when you came back to the >> It's not Let me Let me tell you, it's not a keychain. >> So, what is it then? It's not a keychain. What is it? >> It's a aircraft holder. No, on the on the video there's no only AirPod holder that I see. >> Oh my god. I That's the only thing I No, that's the one. It's silver. That's the only thing I look at while I'm waiting for them to bring me up. >> It's Yes, it's a AirPod holder. I don't need any keychain. It's not a keychain. >> While denying her actions, she stated that she had taken the AirPod holder, but this did not match what the police report indicated, and a dispute over the issue erupted. >> AirPod holder. >> I didn't find it on you. Let Let me search you back. I couldn't find >> a keychain item. >> You know what? I'm rich. I have money. So, if they want to pay it, fine. But it's not a key change. It doesn't fit this. I took it out. Why don't we look at the camera carefully? I took it out. I put it in. So, did you see me putting it in? >> No. I see you check out the the iPod and you're looking at the keychain >> to put it in there. >> But to put it to put the keychain in there >> to test this to see the fit, >> right? >> It's not a keychain. I'm a fashion designer. I know it's not a key. So, what was it then? >> It's a AirPod holder. It's a AirPod case. Gucci as it's air. >> They swear with a keychain and down here at $300. [laughter] >> That's it. >> Yeah. >> Oh my god. >> Gucci keychain. It's not cheap. >> That is cheap. That is really cheap. I buy stuff for like thousands of dollars. Okay. This Chanel bridge is $7,000. Okay. It's not a keychain. It's a haircut. How can I tell you? >> What did you think about her explanation just now? Leave a comment. At this moment, officers returned to the store and another story began to unfold. I guess you guys are working on Orange County. You guys got me to take over. >> You guys recorded it online yesterday. >> Today. >> Where is it exactly that she was standing like a video? >> And what what was the air? >> Keychain air over there. >> Did you see the video? >> Yeah. The video. Now that's going to come up. >> She's arguing if it's a keychain or air. >> No, it's a keychain. Air holder. >> Slides underneath her wallet and just keeps it in and forward. She never brings it back down. [music] She never put it back. I know for the counts over, catch them distracted. Get them all flustered. I walk forward. She keeps going around 308. Let me show you that. She walks out. She's going to go down the fragrance and then puts it back. Still has the holder and then she walks out cuz she walking around and put away at no point and pay for the item. >> Nope. And then just walks out. Her husband's outside her husband. I don't know. >> Can I see the beginning of the video where she just see her face again cuz I was supposed to take that's the same lady you recognize that came back today. >> Same here. >> She said she come back today. >> No. Okay. Um, you guys want to play charges? >> Yeah. According to surveillance footage and employee statements, it appeared that what the woman had said earlier was completely untrue and she was questioned about it shortly afterward. >> All right. Do you have the right to remain silent and do anything? >> Yes. >> Has anyone threatened you or promised you anything you should talk to? >> No. >> Do you want to talk about what happened at >> Yeah, like he said now. So, I bought you uh cologne, but by waiting for them to ring me up, I saw like a AirPod holder, but because he keeps saying a keychain, that's why it's confusing. >> Well, this is what it is right here. So, it's not it's not really confusing because it doesn't look like it keeps air. >> Well, I don't think there's any I tried on this one to >> it's it's it's a it's a whole AirPod holder, but I wasn't sure if it would fit this. So, I tried put it on there. >> Okay. >> I put it on but it didn't fit. That's why I didn't get it. But I just left it. >> What did you do with it? >> I just left it back. And then >> where did you leave it out? >> Uh on the just threw it on the counter and then >> which counter the counter check. >> Yeah. Where they bring up the the bottle. >> So where So exactly where you run out the bottle? >> Yeah. Cuz what happened was they ran me up and I put the credit card in and it didn't go through somehow. It was kind of it was really crazy. So I don't I was trying to hurry to get out to go to work cuz I had to sing. So I need to do work and then then they make me do it again. So it was kind of crazy cuz they were bringing a few people up. So I don't remember. I just said, you know, hurry and hurry and then >> despite the evidence, she showed no sign of guilt and refused to admit anything. Even shifting the blame to the store's negligence rather than her own actions. >> So maybe that's what I was trying to tell. Maybe can they search the whole store if it might have fell somewhere before they >> Here's the deal with your store. All right. It's not true. I reviewed the video. You're seeing putting it under your wall. They have a camera right above. >> Yeah, I know. I see the camera. Obviously, I can see everybody with >> Everybody has cameras. >> I only Hey, so you take it's 330 bucks. All we're asking All we're asking is cooperation is mission. All right. I'm not asking you to sit here and continue makeup stores. >> You put the key tray holder under your wallet. You walk around the store and you exit. You never once drop it in. Okay. Everything in that store is >> I have never taken anything. >> Is it possible that you forgot? You want to know? Did you forget and that's why you came back there? >> Nobody's accusing you of being >> obviously I'm rich. I can afford all this. >> I understand. Is it an accident? Is this a misunderstanding? >> Maybe. I don't know. It's really crazy cuz this never happened to me before. I was in a hurry because I sang at the Teletron in um >> Where is it at? Do you have it at home? Can you go back and get it? >> Get what? the the airplane. >> I don't have it. Maybe it fell somewhere. I don't have it. Seriously. >> So, where? >> But if you wanted to pay, I I don't want to pay. I don't have it. I swear to you, I don't have it. If they want me to pay, I will pay. >> Is it in your car? >> I don't have a car. I've been taking Uber. >> I don't live here. That's why. >> Where do you live? >> I live in California. I don't have it. Seriously. >> But you told me you put it back right. >> No, I don't remember. I I think I throw everything back once my husband was rushing me out because we were late for the show. The only reason we came in here was because his outfit was malfunctioned. So, we went to Demon and buy a suit. A suit with suit. >> She cited her wealth to deny stealing and blamed her rushed schedule from backto-back shows, showing no humility. But even so, the police made their decision. >> You're going to put your hands on your back at this time. You're being placed under arrest. >> What is that? >> Um, for retail petty. >> What? But I didn't take it. >> The video shows otherwise. They did an inventory of the store. >> I didn't take it. So, wouldn't we get I can't go home. Unfortunately, ma'am, because you're not a resident of Orange County or OciOla, I'm not able to do what we typically do, which is bar or Huh. >> So, what do I >> uh you're going to go to Orange County Jail and you're going to be you're going to bond out from there. >> So, somebody has to come and bond. >> Yeah. Somebody have to come out and bond. You your bond will be $1,000. >> Okay. They can do it right away. >> Uh I don't know as far as like on their end how long it takes, but you will be able to bond out as soon as you get there. It's just a matter of how long they're Can I tell them? >> I'll let them know. They're my only friends here. >> Give me a second. Can you get Somebody's going to go do a statement at a Gucci. >> You want all your property? >> Do you want all your property to go to >> You want me to say your family over there? >> Yeah, but can I talk? >> I'm standing here. I'm not going to talk to my head. >> Do you want them to know that you're being arrested? >> No, I don't because this is crazy. No. No. Can I just stand here and talk to them at this door? >> We need to get them to your property and where are they supposed to know about >> otherwise? Where is it going to be? Here. It'll have to go to the jail. But I mean, I don't know. Where's your vehicle at? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You get it back. My >> So I can take it with me. >> My only concern is because one, the price dollar of your bag, and two, if they don't allow that in the jail because sometimes they're very technical. >> Finally, the woman was charged with petty theft. Denying responsibility and relying on status or excuses does not outweigh clear evidence, and accountability ultimately determines the outcome. >> She said she bought if she got four items. tide TV and trash bag. >> I don't want to touch nobody have a flesh. >> I got you. >> All right. >> That's why I don't want to do that. >> On April 23rd, 2024, police responded to a report of an ongoing theft at Walmart. Upon arriving at the scene, they saw the suspect attempting to leave and immediately blocked her path. >> Ma'am, sit back in your car. >> Okay, I'll pay for this. >> Okay, sit back in your car. We'll figure this out in a second. >> All right, here. Pull up a couple more views so I can get behind you. >> Okay. >> Stop. >> Yeah, just for now. >> Okay. Can I talk to you for a second? >> Yeah. No, we're getting Trust me, we're going to figure it all out. You got your DL on you real quick? >> No, I don't. >> I had just bought this car. >> Okay. Just here. Sit down. Relax for a second. Okay. >> I have a flesh eating bacteria, sir. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Yep. I see it. >> And I had came here to get this stuff. >> Okay. >> I just bought this car. The dude that I bought it from went to jail. >> Okay. Problems with you. >> Here, we'll go. Let's go in the AP office. >> Well, no, cuz I didn't do nothing. >> Well, you know, we're fine. >> Well, here's here's what we're doing. >> I don't want my car to stuff cuz I need my stuff. >> All right. All right. I'll try and help you as much as I can. >> I don't want to touch nobody to have a flesh. >> I got you. All right. >> That's why I don't want to do that. Clearly, the woman had no intention of cooperating, using even her bacterial infection as an excuse to prevent police from touching her. It was noted that this was not her first encounter with law enforcement. >> Hey, so what's your uh what's your first name? >> Maria, I have a warrant in Collinsville, but they told me all I had to do was come in and that's what I planned on doing yet tomorrow. >> Maria, what's your mail? >> Before I went into the hospital. >> What's your mail initial? >> I don't have one. But this is what she did pay for. >> Yeah. Correct. >> The woman's claims were completely at odds with what the store employees reported. But in the loss prevention office, police learned further that this was not her first offense. >> This is a This is a fun one. >> Yeah, just kidding. What we got? >> So, she paid for this stuff. office. >> She come to She all the time. Thank you. >> She had way more stuff. >> It's her third time this week >> that she stole. >> Yes. Well, let's see what's going on before we >> But you did the video, >> huh? video walking out with it. >> Yeah. I know the charm that she did >> because if if she tried to make an argument to one of you guys that she >> came here with the stuff, right, then we need the first thing we need to do is validate she walked in the store. Yep. Cuz look, that's her. >> Yeah. >> And that's all the stuff. >> That's a whole different TV. >> Oh, I don't know. >> That's what I'm going to do. >> In fact, [music] the store employees had thoroughly tracked the woman, what she took, and even what she did with the items she had stolen. >> A vacuum every time. So, I knew that vacuum went on there. She reselling the stuff on Facebook. What she explaining to him? They're trying to experience out there. Yep. >> Are they making her come in? >> There she is. >> All right. Yep. Let me see. Let me see these other items. We're going to make her watch, too. All right. So, I see. Oh, yeah. >> All right. So, that's at least >> closet. >> All right. Yeah. Just stay right there. >> Yep. And she said she bought She got four items. Tide, TV, and trash bag. >> So, she paid for Tide. She paid for the hefty trash. >> Okay. >> And she got the TV. But we have she has plugins. She has air pressure. >> This is what 1347. Just leave it right there. >> Okay. >> 126 135. >> She thought I wanted to come in here today. >> All right. She ain't come in here. So, >> okay. Let me stand back here. >> All right. She pushed out on Sunday. >> She did. >> How much? >> Probably around $300 $400. >> Thus all of her offenses were fully documented. Yet she still believed she could go undetected and continued to obstruct the officers. All right, ma'am. >> Some of those stuff that y'all got is my stuff that I got from a different store a long time ago. >> Receipt. [clears throat] >> I can't get the receipt when I bought them weeks ago. >> Them vitamins of mine and one of them are open. Huh? They came from Walmart in Great City. Can I call somebody to come get it? >> Yeah, you can. Can I use the phone? >> I don't have a phone. Are you working with him? >> Clearly, she deliberately complicated everything, seemingly trying to delay the moment she would be handcuffed, even acting as if she fully understood what would happen upon her arrest. >> Not want that. >> You know what? I'm getting out of jail tomorrow. >> If they That's because here's the thing is listen with these people at the jail um with the jail, their their main their main goals is keeping that out of the population. Either I'm going to let you go and somebody's going to pick you up and bring you back to your car or you're going to Yeah, I'm good. Or you're going to go be transported to Collinsville. >> I ain't going to transport. Collinsville already know about me, >> right? So, if they don't, that's fine. But I got to take you back. All right. So, the more cooperative you are, I'm helping you out with the car. Okay. >> All right. I appreciate that. >> Under the officer's persuasion, she reluctantly accepted being handcuffed, though with great resistance. >> Not today. I'm still in the damn p. >> All right. So, I'm just going to scare you in the car for now. All right. Let's turn around and then we'll forget the rest of this. All right. [ __ ] >> Is that all right? >> Oh, 135 in custody. Hold on, ma'am. Can you can they show the camera? So, we're working on that. >> They can see. I did not take nothing. >> Okay. So, what happened? Why are they say like and I honestly like I walked in and I don't know you guys. I don't know them. I don't know what's going on. Right. So, we're trying to figure out what the hell actually happened. >> Like we literally came in. >> Okay. >> We looked around. I hear you. >> So like I never took no Birkenstocks. I never took no jeans out there. Can they please get the camera so they can see? That was what happened from the woman's perspective, but she omitted the detail of stealing and disposing of the evidence because shortly afterward, the [music] police uncovered the truth. >> So essentially, you went back there into the back corner, started rumaging through some clothes and making a mess and took a knee and >> I took a what? >> Bent down, >> put put the clothes in your purse. They was on there. >> Uhhuh. So, how'd they get on your pants? >> They was on it cuz I was grabbing them. I can lift it up. I can pull them up. Who said I can't touch it? >> Although the woman continued to deny everything, once at the police station, she showed concern about the crime she had committed. And what do you think about this? Leave a comment below. >> That's That's what she said. >> Yeah, but you have prior. >> What does What does that mean? makes an automatic felony. >> How does that make it automatic felony?
