Lying about their actions, resisting, denying everything only to realize they've been fooling themselves. Every move is recorded, every lie exposed, shining a light on the truth. These are the moments of when shoplifterss act innocent, but it's all on 4K. Each misdeed leaves a lesson for us to learn, things to watch out for and avoid. Don't forget to like and subscribe for more. Starting with this careless woman, fleeing from the law had already become a habit. >> Stop. Don't run. What are you What are you What are you doing, ma'am? Relax. What is wrong with you right now? >> I need to go. >> You can't leave. You are not leaving right now. >> On May 2nd, 2023, police were dispatched to Wind Dixie after receiving a report of a shoplifting in progress. The suspect was a woman who had packed her cart full of merchandise and walked out without paying. As soon as they approached her, she acted evasive as if nothing had happened. >> You have a receipt or did you buy this? >> Um, no. No. I'm sorry. >> Don't leave. Come back here. Don't leave. Come back. Ma'am, come here. >> Ma'am, come. Stop. Don't run. What are you What are you doing? What are you doing? >> Please let me go. >> Don't No, you can't leave. You just You just got caught stealing. Come back here. You're detained right now. You cannot leave. Stay right here. Go to the sidewalk. >> Six. Copy a signal 30 at Windixie. >> Ma'am, don't don't leave. Where are you going? Do not stop touching me. >> You're detained right now. >> Stop touching me. >> You are detained right now. >> The woman's actions completely hindered the police. She didn't offer a single word of explanation, and her evasive behavior grew increasingly stubborn and complicated. >> Can I get a 1394? >> Stay right here. Where are you going? Stand right here. >> Ma'am, you need to stay right here. What? Dude, you have an idea on it. >> Excellent. >> Stay right here. Do not leave. >> Ma'am, what are you doing? What are you doing right now? You need to stay right here. Hey, here. Grab her. Ma'am, relax. What is wrong with you right now? >> I need to go. >> You can't leave. You are not leaving right now. Put your arms behind your back. Put your arms behind your back. I'm not going to try to leave. >> No, it's too late. >> I'm not playing this game anymore. >> Put your arm back, man. >> 61 to 10. >> From fleeing and passive resistance to the moment she was cuffed, she remained cold and indifferent, as if silently admitting her wrongdoing. On top of that, she didn't carry any ID. >> Right on time, >> pretty much. Where's your ID? >> I don't have one. >> You don't have one? >> You don't have one in your purse? have another unit come by. Uh can you have the manager come out? >> Yeah, I got you. You want me to take this in or leave right here? >> He can leave right here till he comes out and decides what he wants to do. >> Can you tell me what happened? Why would you need stuff? >> Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I'm just trying to get stuff for my family. I'm sorry. And I I don't want to go to jail. That's the last thing I need right now. >> Why are you trying to run from me? I'm going to tell you not to move. Why do I have to grab you? I don't want Do you think I want to do this? >> No, I don't. I'm just I'm >> I know they're saying you're scared, but you cannot run from the law enforcement. They're stopping you. >> You're esc You escalated this. Yeah, I don't want I didn't have to put cuffs on you. >> I just have her detained right there now. >> Just looking for her on camera, actually. >> And it seemed like this was a planned theft as the staff confirmed through the camera that there were signs of a getaway vehicle. >> What's up? She was waiting for her ride. And this for getaway car was actually parked in the front parking spot in that handicap place. >> You got it on camera? >> Uh yeah. >> You got a tag on there or whatever. Even if you don't have one, >> I'm going to I'm going to try to get a tag for you now. >> 1439 from last night. >> I do got uh I think I got a plane for you. >> All right, you're good to go. >> Back here. >> We're going to have with your property. So with your bags and stuff. >> Yeah, I know. >> Go ahead. >> There you go. >> Thanks a lot. >> Yep. You need anything else? You know what to put in your CRA and everything? >> I'll figure it out. I'm going to go to I'm going to go to a station and get with Sergeant cuz uh >> records show her name is Samantha with a lengthy criminal history dating back to 2021 including multiple petty thefts, multiple failures to appear, mostly related to DUI, possession of controlled substances, driving while license revoked, violation of probation, and a series of grand thefts and retail thefts afterward. By July 17th, 2024, Samantha continued to be arrested multiple times on similar charges, revealing a relentless pattern of criminal activity. Samantha's years of repeated crimes show that running from the law and ignoring consequences only traps you in a cycle of trouble. Take responsibility early, or small mistakes can ruin your future. Even bolder, these suspects turn their crimes into a twisted game of chase and hideand seek. Give up. I give up. I give up. TAKE OFF. I GIVE UP. SEE YOUR HANDS NOW. Let me see your hands. >> On October 13th, 2024, police got a tip about two criminals with multiple active warrants committing theft at Target. As they arrived, the suspects were fleeing through a fire exit, sparking an intense highstakes chase. Watch that door. >> Hold on, guys. We're just waiting for those guys to come out. I got him back here now. >> I got I got >> I give up. I GIVE UP. >> I GIVE UP. GET DOWN. >> I give up. >> I give up. I give up. I give up. >> I got him. I got >> I give up. Come on. >> Hey, give up. >> Instead of offering any excuses, his repeated cries of surrender only confirmed his own wrongdoing. And in reality, he didn't give up. He got caught. Immediately after, police began tracking down the second suspect. >> We still got one female outstanding, don't they? >> She's still outstanding. white jersey. >> Yeah, >> we got him. >> What you wearing? >> Bring a black top. >> Shorts. You're taking your eyes with us. Heat. Heat. Sorry, we're searching for you. All right. >> Okay. >> Thank you, ma'am. Appreciate you. I mean, where could the she have gone? If >> Despite searching every possible corner, there was no sign of her. At this point, store cameras were put to good use, revealing that the woman was still somewhere inside. >> So, she went right here. >> I wonder if she's hiding at the very top part. >> So, right here, this is where she comes out. >> Nasty. Okay. >> What does she look like? You'll see she's wearing like a black tank top, >> sports bra, I put it like that. And then gray leggings. There she is. And then from here, we got her back here. 249. And she doesn't go. If she went this way, she would have gone I would have seen her come this way. Or if she went back this way, I would have seen her come this way. >> She's hiding somewhere on top. Then what angle is that one? >> Which one? >> Like the this one. So, I can go over there cuz I don't have my phone. This one's the back of this. This is where we go through the grocery department. >> We have her only going into that um that storage area where we were all at and not coming out any other way. >> Where the I mean, she got back inside pretty quick. You could say the woman turned it into a game of hide-and-seek. The moment she thought her hiding spot was safe and well concealed, the police discovery of it left her with nowhere to run. Hey, let me see your hands. Let me see your hands now. Let me see your hands. >> Contact with one >> over here. >> Yes. No. Let me see your hands. >> I know. I'm trying to crawl out. >> You need to crawl out. >> Keep your hands up. >> I'm coming down. >> Sorry. Man, she was hiding good. We're done. Damn it. >> Give us one second. >> Look at master finder. >> Called it. >> That was pretty good. >> Yeah, my radio's not working. >> Put me to shame. >> I don't know if you guys could, but we have one to take. You >> know, it's funny like she underneath. >> Was she under underneath? I say, "Do >> you have anything in your bra or anything?" >> No, I don't. >> Once both were caught, the police continued their process. There was no sign of remorse from the suspects, showing just how accustomed they were to this routine. >> No. Okay. Bro, there's your feet. Where did you guys come in? Bro, >> did you guys come in a vehicle insurance? >> Which homies were giving you the heads up? >> In the end, the male suspect was charged with shoplifting and resisting an officer. He pleaded not guilty and his case is still ongoing. The female suspect faced the same charges, but both were later dismissed by the prosecutor. Even when people think they found a clever way to escape, repeated risky choices and trying to outsmart the system can quickly trap them. Planning shortcuts or ignoring rules rarely ends well. In the next case, this man shows that cooperating keeps things simple and light. >> Just do a little grab and run. Just grab some handfuls and run out. We got another guy put on stuff. >> On August 29th, 2024, a man suspected of shoplifting from a store fled in a silver BMW. Unaware that the stolen items were equipped with tracking devices. Using the tracker, police located the car. And here's what happened next. >> You looking at this silver BMW? How's it going, guys? How's it going? You guys know whose car this is? No, not associated. >> No. Okay. Cool. You >> with the chain. Come here. >> Who? Me? >> Yeah. You got ID on you, >> huh? >> You got ID? >> ID? >> ID? >> No. >> What's your name? >> Huh? >> What's your name? >> Person associated with this car looks like you. That's why I'm wondering. What's your name? >> What's going on? >> We're right now investigating criminal activity. Sir, I want to get your name to verify you're not involved so I can leave you alone. What's your last name? >> Jackson. >> Jackson what? >> You're not associated with this car at all? >> I This is my brother's car, my friend's car that I've been using. >> Okay. So, you've been driving this car? >> Not really, but I just picked it up today. >> Okay. From where? >> Um my bro house. your brother's house. All right. Where's that at? Come on over here. I want to separate yourself from from these people. Come on over here. >> The man initially claimed he hadn't used the car at all during the time of the theft, but under the officer's persistent questioning, his statement quickly shifted. >> All right. So, what we're trying to figure out essentially is what happened. >> Yeah. >> Okay. That's that's why we got >> I that wasn't me. I let someone use my car. >> Okay. >> And that's about it. But I had nothing to do with it. >> Okay. All right, man. tell you who I let use my car, but I don't have nothing to do with that. >> Okay. Who' you let use your car? >> Um, it was one of this dude. >> Okay. So, I just want to let you know like before we get into I got this car, you got this car, all this stuff, right? And that's figuring everything out. Like you you you're using this car, you borrowed it, you're you where'd you get it from? Well, I this is I used to own this car and then I got it back >> when I had my Maserati. Okay. >> Then I got it back from the dude. >> Gotcha. >> And then I just use it every once in a while and then I let my bro use it. >> Okay. >> For the past 2 days. >> Gotcha. Okay. So, you have been driving around this car. So, I'm going to ask you again. Are we going to see you on these cameras? >> No. >> Okay. Are you going to be in the car? >> No. >> Well, don't don't lie to me. We're here for shoplifting stuff, but okay. If you make it more than that, then it's more than that. Okay. Were you in Were you in the car when they shoplifted? >> Okay. Gotcha. >> So, he had been at the scene all along. The officers kept pressing him because they already knew the truth. They just wanted to see whether he'd come clean and soon enough he broke, laying out the entire sequence of his actions. >> So, I got to stop hanging around. >> I ain't going to lie. You associated with >> wrong people, man. So, here's what we're going to do, okay? because you're detained and I'm going to keep talking to you. How many pairs of pants do you think are back there? >> I'm not too sure. Probably 10, 11, 12. I don't know. I got >> Do you have the keys to this car? >> Okay. You going to give these jeans back to us? >> Yes. >> Perfect. While you're doing that, let's talk about who it was that we're going to see on camera taking this fans. Okay. Who was it? Who was out here stealing? >> It was just be honest. We went in the we went in the store and I was with one of my older friends I met up with that. >> Okay. >> I went to someone told us go to the store to get to me stuff. >> Okay. Just do a little grab and run. Just grab some handfuls and run out. >> I got you. The other guy put on stuff on some things while he's in the store, too. Okay, I got you. So, did you have any active participation? Were you holding jeans when you left the store? And like I said, if if if you lie to me, I'm just all I got to do is look at the camera when I get back and see exactly what it was. Okay. So, did you steal these jeans, too? After his lie collapsed, the man became fully cooperative, giving statements that helped wrap the case up smoothly. He revealed details about who was involved and exactly how much had been stolen. >> What happened in the store? Sergeant statement. >> Walked around and then took the jeans. He put on stuff. >> Okay. >> Then he put on a couple of jackets and then he told me to grab the jeans and I >> Okay, I got you. How many pairs did you say you grabbed? >> He just told me to take the stack slides. It's probably 10 11 12. >> Okay. Did you know that they had trackers on them? >> No, but they had the little sensors on them and stuff. >> Yeah. >> I got you. >> All right. What's your What's your buddy's name? Um, >> he's one of I only know him by his like his >> What? He's known out. What's he known out as? >> Uh, >> poetic. >> Poetic. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What's he look like? I think I've heard that name before. >> Median kind of dude. Like 20 late 20s. >> Okay. >> Early 30s. >> Medium. Was he Is he dark skin? Light skin? >> Oh, >> like a caramel color. All right. I got you. All right, man. Um, so like I said, we got some steps that we got to do. One, we got to recover the pants. Okay. Uh, you got the keys on you for this car? >> I did it. >> Where are the keys at? >> I was when I was search helping them put it probably on the car somewhere. >> Okay. You think we were going to talk to you, so you just ditch the keys real quick? >> No, I just I was helping them put stuff. >> I got other stuff's in there, too. If I go get it, I'm not going to do nothing. >> Just stay here. It's all right. Where in the where in this car do the keys? >> It's right on the seat over. >> In reality, every tracking device attached to each stolen pair of jeans counted as stolen property, which pushed his total loss to $1,350, including $500 just for the tracker alone. By the time he realized the weight of what he'd done, his regret came far too late. >> School to be an iron worker, and I don't want to mess that up. I mean, you you straight up stole, you know, maybe a few thousand on camera, too. So, >> I know it's not right around the wrong people just to help get money. >> If we get you a consent to search form, will you fill that out and sign it saying that, "Hey, we can we can search your car and get the evidence back, get the pants back." Yeah. Do you have one of those forms? >> Can I grab them? And then you guys, >> cuz the worst I mean, best case scenario is, hey, you just pull those jeans out. You say, "Here you go, man. My bad. I'm sorry." Worst case scenario is you go ha and you pull out some sort of gat and then then it's a then it's a firefight, right? And I I I know that that's not how you are and that's not the vibe you're giving me, but I have to plan for worst case scenario, right? So, we're just going to sit until we get the official form out. You sign it saying, "Hey, I'm giving consent to to search this car to go through it and recover this merchandise and whatnot, and then we figure stuff out from there." Based on the tracker's location, it looks like you guys was running around just causing problems. Right after that, the officers recovered every stolen item and laid out exactly what he would have to face next. >> Okay, here's something very quiet. Like a That's real, real quiet. This one, >> you know what this is? >> Like that, right? Don't Don't react. >> Oh, nice. >> Sweet. Never seen that before either. That's pretty sweet. >> All right, man. So, here's the next step. Next step is we'll get you a recorded statement from you. I'll write you a citation for it for theft. You show up in court later for that. Talk to the judge. Take care of it however you need to take care of it. Okay? As for right now, like I said, everything else has been it's been chill. Even though it's a lot and it's been taken a while, you've been super chill with us. I'm not trying to jam you up. Okay? He was charged with shoplifting, receiving only a citation thanks to his cooperation, and his case remained under review. His cooperation didn't erase the crime, but it did spare him from a far worse outcome. A sharp reminder that owning up early can be the only way to soften the fall. Even recklessly ignoring danger, the suspects even wrecked their own car in a desperate bid to escape. >> The rug, wrapping paper, that cooler. I don't know if the cooler actually contains anything. You got him. >> I got him in their head now. >> On December 1st, 2024, police received a tip from Walmart about two suspects stealing merchandise and fleeing. Immediately, officers pursued the vehicle based on the description, sparking a chaotic high-speed chase. Go. Still on traffic passing man war at this moment going speeds of 80 speeds of 90 coming up on the roundabout. We have no traffic heading northbound. 104. He's going through. >> You got him. >> I got him. They're here now. >> Luckily, the thief trapped themselves when they're lost control around a curve, but the suspects decided to flee on foot into the mountainous area, forcing police to quickly split into two teams to chase each one. >> Get underground. ON THE GROUND NOW. HEY, give me the air. I got one proned out gunpoint. We're going to be exit four northbound exit. Stay right where you're at. Don't move. You reach for anything, I'll you. You understand? All right, let's move up. You guys go ahead and go hands on and cuff him. Let me go behind you. You're good. You're good. Don't move, man. Give me that bright yellow shirt. Immediately after apprehending the first suspect, police quickly questioned him to determine whether there was a specific destination behind their escape. >> Hey, were you was there an address here in St. George you guys were trying to get to? >> No, we don't have >> Okay. We just came here to work for a little bit and then we just trying to get like the old prison prison. >> So, you're are you working up here right now? >> Oh, yeah. We we just got off and then we went to >> But you guys don't have an address up here that you're trying to get to or a location you're trying to get to. How come you guys wouldn't just go I15 south in >> like we're just just chilling and hiding Jessica back home but then you guys got I mean you started off from right there and then that's when they made us >> it's just putting a lot of lives in danger man over over what would probably be like a citation you know what I mean and now we're talking about felony charges. >> All right. >> Yeah. Thank you man. I appreciate it. They they're still looking for the other guy, right? >> At the same time, another patrol team spotted signs of the remaining suspect in a parking lot. And upon seeing the officers, he immediately bolted with all his strength. STOP. ECHO 10. I HAVE BEEN RUNNING INTO the Walmart parking lot backside. GET ON THE GROUND OR YOU'RE GOING TO GET TASED. GET ON THE GROUND OR YOU'RE GOING TO GET TASED. >> GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. ON THE GROUND. >> ALL RIGHT. >> DO NOT MOVE. >> I'M ON THE GROUND. >> DO NOT MOVE. DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING ON YOU I NEED? >> NO. >> One at taser point. >> We got him down. We got him down. I don't got nothing. >> Don't move. Got you. >> Don't move. I don't GOT NOTHING. >> STAY DOWN YOUR BACK. >> I DON'T GOT NOTHING. >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> I'm cooperating. >> All right. I appreciate that. >> All right. We'll do it easy, man. I appreciate it. >> All right. All right. Do you have any weapons on you? Nothing. All right. We're going to get you up. All right. Get up off the ground. I appreciate it, man. You work with us. I work for you. All right. >> Yeah. I'm not Right. >> All right. Any nothing on you? No weapons weapons. Separate your feet. >> Yes, sir. >> Hey, is this you two? >> Yes, sir. >> All right. Appreciate it. >> At Walmart, other officers worked with staff. And in fact, this wasn't their first time. All of their wrongdoing had been captured on camera. There >> anything new today? >> So, he did, while I was watching him, he did the merchandise in that vehicle. None of that has been purchased. And I did tell dispatch initially he rang up some of it, but then he clicked on a weird button to kind of it like makes the screen go darker and it's asking a yes or no question at the bottom. >> Okay. >> But I did go back and confirm he never paid for anything. >> He never paid for anything. >> So the there's a like a small cooler, an orange speaker box. I can actually just show you a picture of the card. >> Yeah. >> So he's got like a food processor type item. Yeah. the speaker, the rug, wrapping paper, that cooler. I don't know if the cooler actually contains anything. >> So, there may be stuff inside it. >> There may be. Yeah, I knew from prior stuff that they were considered dangerous. And he knew that I was watching him and he did it anyways. >> Okay. >> But we did not approach him. >> Uh, what's the total today? >> I'm going to have to go pull it. I believe it will be under 500. What he scanned and didn't pay for was 240. So, I think it will be under 500 unless he's got something significantly expensive in the cooler. Okay. Who is he? Is he Henry or? >> So, this is uh the other one. Perez. >> Perez. Okay. >> He never went past all points of sale. So, he doesn't have a theft. >> No new charges on Henry today. It sounded like just from the comments that um you guys are super aware of them and like what cases that were >> I have two other cases on them. Officer Pence has t Well, one of them was video case. I don't know who took the last video case, but Officer Pence did a video case on where both of them did a push out and then Henry came back in and stole somebody's scooter and he got charged for burglary. on that and they're supposed to be trespassed, but I don't believe they were ever contacted. So, if we can make sure that they're informed of that trespass. >> Yeah. >> Shortly after, police approached the first suspect, Perez, to determine what his intentions had been behind his actions. >> Just tell me what was going on today, like from the beginning, like how how did we get get here? >> Came to do a job out here at customer's house. And uh >> where are you from? >> Vegas. >> Okay, gotcha. >> So, I assemble stuff like just anything like gazebo, playground sets. So, why did you guys want to come to Walmart? >> I don't know, man. We just came at Walmart. First, I was going to buy a couple things. He's my my brother's baby mama. He He helps me with some jobs sometimes when I need help. >> Does. >> Yeah. So, I bring him with me to uh help me work. >> Yeah. >> Cuz uh his mom and dad asked me like take him with me, you know. I ain't going to blame no one, but I I let him get the best of me just when I knew better and just >> like he said like he he said like we he wanted to steal some stuff. >> Yeah. Know. Yeah. Oh, basically he's like, "Look how easy it is out here." You know, now I'm not blaming him. I'm saying I I got >> I know it's my fault. I'm just saying I you know, I got kids and I got, you know, I got I was doing really good. I got independent contractor. I got I got people who work for me. Uh yeah. And then once the cops were outside, I just I panicked, bro. I didn't know what to do. I just I just panicked. >> And you were in the passenger. You were the passenger, right? >> Driver. >> You were the driver. Okay. >> I didn't know what to do. I just got scared and like I was telling him cuz you know as a Jew now I I wasn't the best kid. >> Perez had denied taking anything in any way. But when officers approached the second suspect, Henry, the story took a different turn as he inadvertently revealed his accompllices actions. You guys doing over here today? We actually came in the morning like I say 9 to >> And you helped Anthony out with that? >> Okay. Um so you guys did that this morning. Were you going to plan on heading back to Vegas today? Yeah. >> Yeah. But like you know how like Christmas is coming up and we don't have that much money right now. >> So you're saying you guys kind of decided like if they getting close to Christmas time you wanted to come get us some some stuff. Do you have kids? You want to get >> I I don't but he does. >> He does. Okay. Did you take anything from the store today? >> Oh, no. >> No. Did How come you decided you just decided not to? >> Cuz I mean I I was just going to take like like a toy for his son and that's about it. >> Okay. you ultimately decided you didn't want to take >> No, I rather just wait and then just make money cuz I mean I I I I have money myself but the money I had like when I was working I done spent it on made like almost 18k within 7 months. >> Yeah, that's a lot. >> Right now I'm just struggling with cash from >> They did say that they have you guys on some previous thefts from here and that's kind of why they called us to come up here so quick. Um, so was there a few incidents where you guys did come and take take stuff from here? >> No, we we had a camera here that >> never been here before. >> No, just this our first time >> of him doing that. >> The two scooters where we've been had that but uh the other the >> like you said like a speaker. >> Yeah, that just that and then uh the just two of the uh like the coolers and then that's about it that he took that just for himself like to use at home. Additionally, police discovered illegal substances in the vehicle and immediately confronted the man about it. >> Bye, brother. They did say that they found some some drugs back at your car. You you know what what would be there? >> Drugs? What type of drugs? >> They didn't tell me to be honest with you. >> Only drugs. Weed. Weed. I don't know if that's what you guys consider drugs. >> Yeah. I mean, in Utah, weed is illegal. So, it might just be it might just be that. There's not like any meth, heroin, fentanyl, anything like that. >> I don't mess with no heroin. Okay. >> I mean, the only other thing I could think of, if I ain't going to lie, I'm keep on drugs. >> It's meth. >> Meth maybe. Okay. So, is there any of the drug stuff that I need to talk to Henry about him owning any of it or is it all yours? Okay. Finally, Henry Martinez charged with failure to stop. Marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia. Anthony Perez Jr. charged with multiple felonies, including assault on officers, failure to stop, drug possession, retail theft, and reckless endangerment. Repeatedly returning to the same crimes or stores isn't clever. It's asking for trouble, impulsive choices, panicked escapes, and poor judgment. only dig a deeper hole, showing that fear can disguise itself as recklessness. Next, to ease the tension, here's a completely low-key arrest for a change. >> While she was off the clock, it would be considered >> shoplifting. If it's off the clock, it's shoplifting. If it's on the clock, it's theft. You're how old? >> 19. Okay. On August 3rd, 2023, police were dispatched to Walmart after a report surfaced of an employee manipulating prices on the register and even shoplifting. They arrived on scene immediately. And here's what the loss prevention employee recounted. >> We got us a So, is this one a little different than the other one? >> Yes. So, this is Mariah. Um, >> okay. >> Um, Yeah, she uh price overrided items on the register. So, what she'll do is when she's buying something, she'll do it like a few dollars cheaper. >> And then also, um >> so she's scanning the items and then saying there's a pricing error. >> Yeah. >> And then paying a reduced amount. >> Yes. >> Got it. Okay. And then that's all the items from the scan. >> So a total of $89. >> Yeah, a total of $89.87. >> 87. Okay. >> And then right there, she shoplifted right in front of me. >> She lifted in a a deli crew. >> Okay. So how now is she doing all that? She did all this on duty. Um that wasn't when she was on duty. That was when she was off duty. >> So some of these were on duty. Some of these were off. >> So right then and there she was off duty cuz when she shoplifted um most of these like she's scanning a code so she has to be on duty. >> Mhm. >> But this one specifically on the 19th is not on duty. >> That's not on she did. >> So everything else is on duty. The wings are off duty. >> She walks the street straight to the break and >> okay, so technically we have two. We have theft by taking and uh shop. >> The suspect even took items freely both on and off the clock which tied her to two separate offenses. At this point, the police explained the situation clearly to the employee. >> Um unless she has prior for shoplifting. >> If it was while she was off the clock, it would be considered shoplifting. If it's off the clock, it's shoplifting. If it's on the clock, it's theft by taking. >> So, if I get a get her schedule and see if it if she's like working at that time, I >> What do you mean? >> Well, if she's working on the clock or off the clock at this point. >> Like right now? >> No. No. >> Oh, >> so yes, if >> if you would if you were able to pull her schedule and you could tell me at that exact moment that she was not working when she did that. Um, >> at that point it would still be it would it would still fall under her by shoplifting. >> So it's it'll go by as the same. >> Mhm. So in this case, because from what you advised earlier, the the one on the 19th happened when she's off duty. So that one, the wings at the very least will be that will be the theft by shopping. >> All the items she took were mostly snacks. So the charges were considered misdemeanors. However, reports showed her actions spanned from January through March with all details clearly displayed on the screen. >> And this all happened on >> Oh, it happened throughout So, some of it happened on like I saw where was it at? There it is. So, March 19th, March 5th, March 5th, February 17th, February 11th. >> It started on um >> It started on January. >> January 24th. So, what alerted y'all to this? Like the amount of price overrides or >> I watched her steal in front of me >> for the for the wings. >> So that was what Okay. >> Okay. I watched her steal in front of me and I was like, "Yeah." >> Well, I remember you said that. I wasn't sure if that was the most recent one and if that was what had set it off. >> It said >> Gotcha. Okay. >> So, the wings is the only thing she didn't do the price error thing for. No, she walked straight to the break room >> with the wings. Okay. Okay. But everything else she did by doing the >> price error alteration. >> At this point, the police approached the woman who fully knew her wrongdoing, offering no excuses and showing no remorse. >> So, I'm just going to let you talk to me. >> All right. Make sure I got all your information together. >> Okay. First name is Maria. >> Mariah. >> Mariah. M A R I A I A I A I A H. >> Last name is Hughes. H U G H E S. >> What's your date of birth? >> Uh >> October 20th. >> All right. Um so, Miss Hughes, you are being placed under arrest for theft by shoplifting >> and theft by taking. theft by shoplifting for the items you took while you were off duty and theft by taking for the items or for the alteration of the prices that were done while you were on duty. Okay. All right. If you will do me a favor, um just cuz probably go if you'll go and take your vest off, badge off, all that. >> Um did you drive your vehicle here today? >> Um no. >> Did you get dropped off? Okay. All right. >> Um my stuff. >> Uh you can go and take all your stuff out of your out of the vest and all that. It'll all go with us. >> Okay. At just 19, with a job in hand, she still made these reckless choices, jeopardizing her own future. Shortly after, the police swiftly wrapped everything up. That's theirs. This is all yours. Okay. All right. If you will do me a favor, if you'll stand up for me, if you'll turn around, place your hands behind your back, put your hands palm to palm, just like you're praying by. Yep. Just like that. That way, it won't put as much pressure on your wrist. Okay. >> All right. So, you are going to be transported down to Loun County Jail. Um, both of the things you're being charged with are both misdemeanors. >> Um, so once you get down there, they should be able to work with you on getting any kind of uh making kind of phone calls you need to make or anything like that. Okay, give me one second. Tighten down on you. >> All right, let me grab your stuff and I will walk you out. Um, >> oh, appreciate you. Um, I left the folder of stuff in the uh she said that's y'all's phone down on the bottom. >> All right, give me one second. Let me pull up this uh >> Here we go. All right, go have a seat for me. >> The 19-year-old woman, Mariah Hughes, was charged with theft by shoplifting and theft by taking. Both charges were classified as misdemeanors. Reckless choices show that even small, seemingly harmless acts like manipulating prices or grabbing snacks can spiral into legal trouble. No excuses or remorse only sealed her fate. Next, this foolish woman confessed love instead of the crime. >> She came out from like checking her getaway. >> So that's it. 609 enters. >> I know, baby. I love you so much. >> I love you. Okay, let's take a run. >> On August 3rd, 2023, police received a call from Safeway reporting a shoplifting in progress with the suspect being a familiar face who had previously caused $800 in losses. Upon arrival, staff noted that this time she had changed. >> Yeah, she's kind of late right now. >> Did she steal? So, she didn't steal yet today. >> Today? No. So, what's your plan when you >> um So, I definitely want her trespass. >> Okay. Um, >> sorry. Um, and I have like the camera footage pulled up from yesterday, too. >> Okay. >> And it's a massive cart. It's $800 plus. >> Okay. >> And then on the 23rd, >> did she just walk out with it? Did she scan items? >> Yeah. No, she just walked out. >> Okay. >> Uh, yesterday with that like that one that Yeah, she just walked out with it. >> Okay. Um, and then on the 23rd, I called you guys cuz she she didn't steal anything that day, but she was she was going to and I scanned it all out. It was like 7:35. She left it over there. Um, the officer who came in said, which I understand, like there's nothing really you guys can do about that. Um, but that's what I'm saying. Like I know she's going to steal, so I absolutely want her trespass. I don't Oh, that's her. That's her down four. Her brief appearance from afar suggested she had spotted the police, prompting officers to immediately search for her. Hey, ma'am. Let me talk to you for a second. So, yesterday sounds like you walked out with quite a bit of carted groceries. >> I did. Yeah, >> no, no, no. Okay. Well, right now you're going to be >> Although startled by the accusation, she and even her boyfriend did not react to being handcuffed, seeming more concerned for him than for herself. >> Dude, I love you. I love you. >> At a minimum, you're getting trespass from the store. >> That's fine. That's fine. And then if you're on video stealing, you better not be lie to me. You understand? >> You better not lie to me. >> I might be. >> You might be lying to me. >> We have the female defense. >> Got warrants. >> I might. I don't know. >> You got ID on you? >> I don't. >> Babe, I love you. >> You can go. You can go. >> I love you. >> Can I give my phone? >> What's your You have her phone. >> No, he needs my phone. You need your phone? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Babe, I love you. >> I don't know what I'm going to get out. >> Huh? >> What's your name? >> Kelsey. K E L S E Y. Last name is Zul. Z O S E L. >> Sorry. Spell again. >> Z O S E L. >> What's your middle initial? >> A. >> Date of birth? >> 5289. >> Hey, I love you. If you have warrants, what they're what are they for? >> Shocking. A15 and it >> I love you babe so much. >> Last of Zebra Ocean Sam Edward Lincoln first of Kelsey King Edward Lincoln >> Sam Edward Young Middle A 52 of 89. I know baby. I love you so much. >> After a brief goodbye to her boyfriend, he even walked off as if he already knew what was happening. Everything became even clearer when she was taken to the loss prevention room. >> Either way, she's got a felony and misdemeanor warrants. >> I do. >> Yep. Organized retail theft. >> Oh, look at that. You're even wearing the same clothing. And that's like I don't know if there's anything you can do about that. Was the other night and that's her fatty cart. That's the one from that night. >> That's the one from that night. >> Okay. >> I like that I said I don't know if that's whatever, but that's yesterday. >> So, do you want to pursue charges for that? She's got a whole bunch of warranties. >> Yeah, >> you do. >> Okay. >> So, it is 8 to 2023. What do you do? You have what time she entered the store? >> Oh, entered. Uh, and then you're looking at potential charges from yesterday as long as it sounds like the video lines up. Um, I don't know the exact dollar amount whether that's going to be a misdemeanor or felony. It sounds like you had a cart full of stuff. So, the cut off for the felony 750 bucks. Sounds like what you had in that cart was pretty close. So, we'll see. Either way, it's going to be a a new charge. And then you're going to get booked on your your warrants tonight at noon. >> I'm going to get another charge though >> potentially. Yeah. for yesterday. >> She returned to the store the very next day after her previous offense, even wearing the same outfit. Police then reviewed her entire theft process on the footage. >> So, she came out from like checking her getaway. >> So, that's it. 609 enters. >> She's going to grab her cart. She's looking over here the entire time. >> Is her cart already full? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, she's already shopped. So, >> yeah. She enters the store at some point, grabs a cart. >> She's kind of trying to make sure that no one over here. >> The registers are on the other side. She's clearly looking around. >> I can see you're sweating. I get it. >> And then >> she bypasses all the registers. >> And she walks out. >> That's going to bind and hurt. Can you put at least when we go when we drive down? Can we at least put them in the front? >> No, we can't. Yeah, they have to be in the back. We could we could potentially change you over to chain cuffs instead of the hinged ones. Those are >> Soon after, the reasons behind her actions came to light. Please for sympathy and even signs of regret, but none of it could change the outcome. >> What happened yesterday? What's going on? to it. Like I'm broke. I don't have anything. >> You're broke. Don't have anything. Where do you live? >> Um off of six six people. >> Six in Spokane. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Six of Isn't that down by the grocery alley? >> Yeah. >> Somewhere on. Are you staying in the shelter or just is that where you stay? >> No, that's where I live down here. >> You live there? Okay. And then so why are you coming out to Cheney to steal? >> I don't I at the lake. >> Which lake? >> Silver. >> Silver Lake. >> Then Well, I mean, you stole yesterday. You stole $800 worth of stuff. It looked like >> a pretty full cart. That's what they're guesstimating. You see the cost of anything? >> No way. $800. There's no way. >> Well, there's a good chance it is. Right now, without a without a receipt, I'm going to charge you with that third. >> Yeah. I'm not going to charge you a misdemeanor charge. Yeah, it's going to be a misdemeanor cuz I can't substantiate the the full felony. But >> you're on camera walking out without paying with a cart full of stuff, >> right? >> I mean, do you refute that at all? >> What do you mean? >> Wait, are you disagreeing with that yesterday? What happened? Is that pretty much what happened? You came in, loaded up a cart, and left? >> Um, no. >> That's not what happened yesterday? >> I don't know. >> You didn't come in here and steal yesterday? >> I don't know. >> You don't know? Okay. All right. Yeah, she's right close to it. >> In the end, she was charged with shoplifting and trespassed from Safeway. Even attempts to plead for sympathy or show regret can't undo the consequences. Cooperation with authorities from the start would have prevented this outcome. What do you think about cases like this? Next, this reckless mother went even further, recklessly risking her entire family's lives for the stolen items. >> Roll down your window, man. >> Roll down the window. >> Vehicle took off. >> Face away from me. >> Just kids in the car. >> How many kids are in the car? >> On March 3rd, 2025, police received an urgent call from Walgreens reporting a theft and a getaway in progress. Initial checks revealed that a woman accompanied by her two children had fled in a gray Chevy Malibu. When officers approached, they cautiously asked her to roll down the window. But things quickly turned far more complicated than expected. >> Roll down your window, man. Roll down the window. Vehicle took off. >> All right. Traffic still light about 100 miles an hour. We're safely driving. >> Come on, drive. Just drive. Just drive. >> A fast and furious style chase unfolded on the road with the woman's driving completely reckless, violating traffic laws, swerving dangerously past trucks, and worse, what the police had feared actually happened. We are in a little bit of traffic. >> Crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash. Big crash. Big crash. >> Get off the sheriff to block the freeway westbound at 76 Street. >> I got you. How many kids are in the car? >> Come over here, buddy. Come over here. Come over here. >> Fortunately, all the other passengers and the mother herself were safe. Yet, it was utterly blameworthy to risk lives over stolen items. At this point, the mother even continued to act in ways that endangered herself. Heat. Heat. immediately after, police recovered the Walgreens items. According to reports, the woman had scanned all the merchandise but never paid with a total value of just $23727. Yet, she was willing to risk her entire family's lives. At this point, officers worked with her to help find a guardian for her relatives. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What's grandma's name? >> Oh, but he's going to be >> Has he take any medications? Okay. Any allergies? >> Was he in a seat belt? Grandma. >> Um, was he in a booster seat or anything? >> You want them transported to the hospital? >> Are they okay? It got a couple bumps, but nothing's jumping out obvious. I'm going to let you know if we find anything. Okay. >> Yeah, you can check right there. >> Where was he seated? Um, in the back driver back driver's side. So, they were both unrestrained, it sounds like, where they didn't have any seat belts on. >> No, they both had um the that middle seat belt on and the um so Destiny was in behind the passenger seat. She had her seat belt on. >> Okay. They're both They're both too small to be sitting in the back seat without a car seat. So, that seat belt really didn't do anything to protect them. So, they do have some bumps and bruises and some scratches. Okay. So, it's up to you if you want him taken into the house. >> I say you >> you want him to go to the hospital. Okay, sounds good. Now, we're going to take him over to children. >> At the police station, officers allowed her to calm down before beginning the interrogation. There, she admitted to everything, including the theft and putting her family members in danger. >> So, you want to tell me what was going on? How did it start? What were you doing in uh Walgreens? >> I took some food and some baby from school. Okay. You know the amount of approximately of how much you took? Yeah, just like >> Okay. Uh, and I'm guessing they didn't give you consent. You just took it away. >> No, I swiped my car. She said it was okay. >> Okay. So, when we pulled you over, did you know that you were pulled over? Did you see the lights and sirens? >> Yeah. >> I mean, you stopped. So, you stopped and you rolled down the window for a little bit. Um, and you started running away. What was the reason for running away? cuz like I I really wasn't thinking like I was like thinking like I didn't want to go to jail and then my kids not have nobody in there like me running away still did the same thing. >> So did you recognize that you were putting your children in danger by running away? >> I wasn't thinking about like all the stuff that could have happened at that moment like it was like uh >> Okay. Were your children the seat belts? >> Mhm. >> Okay. Where were they located when you were driving away? >> In the back passenger and the back driver. >> Back passenger. Okay. >> They have car seats or no? >> Cuz they just don't stand here for a little bit. >> The woman Danielle Butler was charged with fleeing and eluding an officer, causing property damage, firstdegree reckless endangerment, two counts of child neglect, misdemeanor retail theft, and bail jumping. And I told him, "No, Jonathan, quit lying." That's what I stated to him. No, stop lying. you you don't you saying >> on February 25th, 2025, police received a call from a man reporting that his debit card had been stolen and his account had been overdrawn. The suspect was identified as his co-workers who had withdrawn up to $5,000. The victim then recounted the process, describing how the thief had allegedly observed and stolen his PIN. >> I was hungry and sleepy, and I decided to purchase myself a bacon egg sandwich on a plain bagel. >> Okay. At the other side of the counter was my coworker. >> Yeah, you named Ivy was on the other side of the register. Uh Ivy. uh made his ma uh uh made his order and when the customer was about to pay uh uh it was already paid with so later she made the refund in an instant. After the the the refund he paid again with his own card. >> Okay. >> After that I tried again to pay with my again by tapping the bacon egg sandwich. >> Have you done that in the past? The tapping? Yes. >> And has it always worked? >> Always worked. Okay. Uh, for some reason there was also a problem. So, she recommended me try to insert it and try it. And as I was hungry and sleepy, I didn't pay much attention to her uh, glazing at it. I was I was thought I thought I was she was looking only at the screen. >> So, the woman named Ivy exploited the victim's trust and concern to commit wrongdoing. And her scheme continued when she actually stole his debit card. around nine, I guess. She talked to me about if I if I had with me or not. >> She came to you out of the blue. >> Out of the blue. >> Okay. >> Because she thought she saw on the floor and I told her, "No, that's actually um a gift card that I have it with me." And I showed it in a wallet that was with me. And it then she told me that it's not safe to have my my wallet in my pocket during the work hours because in case someone robbed us or if I was riding a Uber or something and the wallet fell down to my pocket, someone could take advantage of it. So, it's always good to keep my wallet in this satchel. And I took her word for it since I trusted her and I went back to the office and I only put my wallet in there and kept my phone in my front pocket. Okay. So, you put the wallet in that black satchel. >> Yes. In this black satchel. >> And you put that black satchel in the office. >> In the office where it's hanging on those containers, >> the hooks, right? >> The hooks. Yes. >> And >> and I returned back to the job working. >> Around 10:30 or something, I told Ivy that we're only we don't have pennies, dimes, nickels, the small coins, and we only have singles. and if she was possible for her to change the singles and the safe deposit. So, he's got a, you know, yesterday >> he's a trusting person. >> He's very trusting person. And, you know, um >> yeah, he trusted Ivy, >> right? She seemed to be a very good, you know, like a co-orker at work that would talk to him about his three or four kids and how hard she worked to provide and talked about God and all that. And he he trusted her and, >> you know, was having a really hard time until this day about this whole incident. >> According to surveillance footage, the woman acted completely normal, finishing her shift as if nothing had happened and later withdrew $500 at a time from multiple banks. At that point, police approached the female suspect. Let's see how she reacted to being confronted. >> I stated to him in front of my boss, "If this is what I said to him, if you going to report something like that, you need to like talk to me because me, you told me to do something for you and I will give you your money." This is what I say to him. I said, "Because it's no need for you to be doing that, trying to cover you up and you can get somebody in trouble." And he agreed. He agreed to um the situation or whatever. He came back the next day, not the next day. He came back when we had to rip again and he said to me that okay, this is what we going to do. So, um I told him, this is what I told him. I said I had the money cuz I was talking to the guy came in, the guy was telling me about all this stuff right here or whatever. And my marketing manager like well why would he say someone stole his money like took the money and he didn't give permission or give the information to someone. Then like um two days later me he was talking when I opened the store with him he was talking to me he was like oh um I think the guy that was standing behind him that was like purchasing I guess that day when he was um lined up buying food or whatever. >> Okay. T when he said that, he didn't say it to me. He said it to the market leading manager that which is Michael. He said it to him or something like that and Michael told him he don't see nothing. He don't see no on the camera and I guess he at that time he showed um Jonathan, you know, like the cameras or whatever because Jonathan said it and then Mike came to his day and Mike was like, "We you can't accuse one here at the store." But the whole time I'm not think knowing that he went to the bank until the following week. This is like two weeks into two maybe two or three weeks like the end of January. >> She spoke in a tone as if she were being falsely accused confidently asserting her innocence and even acting knowledgeable about the law. >> The state of Florida once you accuse someone of doing something that they didn't do that's like your word. It could be your word against their word. But if they have any type of, you know, proof of what what happened, then you could get you could get in trouble for that is what I stated to him. >> So he said, um, he agreed to me that I told I don't know. Lesson: Exploiting trust, and lying for personal gain backfired, leading to arrest and serious consequences. Next, this odd man even stole his manager's wallet. >> Yesterday, when I lost him, >> he need you real bad. >> Yeah. And I asked him, I said, "You all right? I'm going to send you home." Throw it out. >> Stand up. I'm not playing this game with you. >> On January 23rd, 2024, police were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a stolen wallet. According to the information gathered, the theft was believed to be committed by another employee. At the scene, the manager explained exactly what had happened. >> So, when did this happen? >> Yesterday. >> He looks straight at the camera, too. >> You got to take me. He goes in first, opens it up, looks at the cash, then throws a shirt on top of it, comes back in later, grabs it, walks out, and then goes into my electrical room, looks right up the camera, tucks in between the compressors. It looks like that's where he pulls the money out. And where did he go after that? He grabbed the wallet, went right back to the office, and put the shirt on the wallet. >> So, he's taking the cash in the wallet or just took a straight wallet. >> Oh, wallet's wallet. >> Okay. How much cash do you know? Zach said it was $165 and he pulled me. >> What's going to happen with the employee? >> Terminated for sure today. >> Yep. >> Are you going to want him trespass from the property? >> The story didn't end there. >> Shortly after, the victim arrived at the scene and shared additional details about the suspect's rather strange behavior. >> What do you mean you're confused? >> Why? Why? Why would something take my law like this? >> Cuz he's a thief installing it. I think he's that simple. You know, >> we have we have it on video. So, >> he sent me some weird stuff, dude. >> Okay. >> There's something else going on with that guy. >> He didn't send me some weird stuff. >> Like what? >> I need you real bad. >> When did he when's he sending us? >> Yesterday when I was get lunch. >> Said he need you real bad. >> Yeah. And I asked him, "Dude, are you all right? I'm going to send you home. Like, you're acting real weird." Okay. >> I don't know if he was just like, "Slow." What else was he saying? Like, >> can you just leave me some weird voicemails sometimes? Ask me to come hang out with him. >> Okay. My dude is 60. I'm 21. >> That's weird, man. Okay. >> At this point, the police approached the male suspect. He told a different story, but it was clear that the footage from the cameras told a very different truth. >> I just kind of want to talk to you about what's going on today. Do you have any idea why I'm here right now? >> Well, yeah. The man outside said that I took his wallet yesterday. >> Okay. >> Did you take his wallet? >> No, sir. I did not. >> Okay. So, if we check cameras, it's going to show something different. >> I don't know. I was watching him. I was My boss said that he didn't know. I was taking him his belongings when he left. >> What do you mean you were taking him his belongings? >> He left his shirt here, his hat here, and I went to hand it to him. >> You handed it to? >> No, I went to hand it to him, and he was already gone. >> Okay. So, you went to go hand it to and he's gone. So, where did it go after that? >> I brought the belongings back in here and I placed them on the desk. >> Okay. And you haven't seen it since? >> The last time I saw his wallet, sir, it was sitting on the desk here yesterday. That's the That's the last time I saw it. >> Okay. Cuz I'm being told something different. All right. And there's cameras that show us something different. >> Okay. >> Okay. So either the camera's lying or you're lying. And I don't think they altered the cameras. So do you want to be truthful with me now? >> Sir, I do not have wallet. I did not take wallet. >> Okay. >> Even when questioned about the strange messages, the suspect offered his own explanation for them. >> He said that he's got he said he's got messages from you yesterday. Well, sir, if you can check my phone, >> you can check my phone and check his phone. I did not call him yesterday. >> Okay. >> If you want to talk to the lady Polly, he had lost his wallet last week also. >> Okay. Well, we're more focused about yesterday and we're going to take a look at this video footage and you can tell me what's going on with it. Okay. >> Okay. >> Can I ask you if I did call him what what was said? Do you have a phone record of this? Did he say what I said to him yesterday? You just said you were acting off. You were acting odd. You were asking him random questions. Something just didn't seem right. >> Sir, he's the property manager or he's the manager on duty and people were asking me things that I could not answer. >> Even when the video was shown for comparison, the man seemed convincing with his account that covered his actions. But he had no idea the police could spot the gaps in his story. >> Hold on. Hold on. Watch this. What are you doing? >> I'm looking to see whose wallet it is. I picked it up and I went to take it to him with his hat and his earbuds that were left here. >> Okay. I then walked outside. I said, "Is that still here?" No. I turned around and I came back. So you came back in here immediately afterwards and you >> I went into the room to see if he was there the next room and then I came back. >> Okay. And then where did you put it from there? >> I put I put his belongings right back here. >> Right back here. Okay. >> Yeah. What did you just put in your back pocket? >> It was my phone. Sir, >> can you play that video one more time? >> Open up the big screen. >> Yeah, just like that. >> Put something in your pocket. >> Yes, you did. Let me let me point something out. When you were over there, when you were behind that thing over there, >> you were reaching in your left pocket. You just pulled your phone out of your right pocket. >> I don't. >> So that means I stole the wallet. >> Well, you're depriving him of his property right now. >> You're the last one. Listen, listen. You're depriving him of his property. You were the last one to have it. And now no longer can it be found. >> So that's why we're coming to you. Even after his slip was exposed, the man still refused to tell the truth, prompting the police to immediately put an end to his deception. >> Did you throw it away? Yes or no? Don't look around. I'm asking you a yes or no question. >> No, you're you're saying that you saw me put something in my pocket, but you gave me the stand up. Wait, >> I didn't throw it out. >> Stand up. >> I'm not playing this game with you. Just back and forth. >> Can I have my phone and my wallet? Can you bring that with sir? >> Yeah, we'll figure all that out. >> I did not steal his wallet. >> Yes, you did. >> Video shows him. >> The video shows you putting >> Look, if you took the look, if you left it at your house, you threw it away, whatever, and you took the cash, that's fine. But he's got some valuable stuff in there. Driver's license, credit cards, >> passports, >> passports, social security card, stuff that you don't need, but that's important to him, and that's that he needs to have. just come clean. >> I do not have his wallet. >> The lies persisted, but the police continued to patiently confront the suspect and eventually the detail about the wallet's location came to light. >> You took You took the wallet. You took the wallet. We're not talking You didn't rob a bank. You didn't kill somebody. You took a wallet. Either way, if if I tell you I have it online, if I tell you I don't have it online. So, right now you feel like you're so deep in it that you have to continue to lie because you've taken it this far. I'm telling you right now, you don't. You don't have to keep lying about it. Because either way, even if we if we don't find the wallet, you're still going to go to jail for a while cuz they're stealing. You stole it. >> All right. So, if you get the wallet back, it's a misdemeanor. >> Yes. >> And then what happens? >> And then we give you a notice to appear and you can talk to a judge about it. And then you go you go home. We take the handcuffs off. I give you a piece of paper. You go home. >> Okay. Can you take these off? I will take you to the wall. >> Okay. Tell me where it's at first, cuz that's not how this is going to work. You're not going to dictate how we control this. Hold on. All right. So, tell me where it is. We can confirm it and I will take those off of you. >> It's across the street in a storage unit. >> Okay. Where which storage unit? The one right over here. Yep. >> Is it your storage unit? >> Yep. >> Okay. Why is it over there? >> It's right. Okay. So, are we able to get into that storage unit to get it out for him? >> Is there cash still in there? >> No. >> Okay. Have you taken anything else out of the wallet? >> No. Okay. So, you have a storage unit directly right over here. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. And you're giving us authorization to get that so we can go over there, get the wallet. I don't care about what else is in there. I just want that wallet. We'll shut it, lock it, do everything. We'll give you the keys back, all that. We just want to get the property back to him. >> In the end, he still insisted it was just a prank on his manager. But in reality, he had spent $162 of the victim's cash at a strip club, and he was charged with theft of property. lesson. Trying to cover up theft with lies or weak excuses only makes things worse. Cooperation and honesty could have resolved the situation quickly and minimize consequences. If this mother using her child as a shield was bad, then meet this pregnant woman, too. >> I said I'm pregnant. >> Can you please fix the cuffs now? I'm pregnant. >> If I said I'm in pain, I'm in pain. Don't treat me like I'm George Floyd. On June 27th, 2023, police were dispatched to Target after receiving a report about two women stealing merchandise. When approached, both of them denied it, even though their actions showed the opposite. >> You guys just took from Target? >> No, we didn't take from Target. >> Yeah, they just called you just stole from them. >> No. >> No. >> 91 28. >> We have returns. >> Anybody got an ID on them? >> No. >> Okay. Okay. Well, they just said you took over 1,000 bucks worth of stuff from them. So, you got an ID? >> No. >> Give me a name then. >> Lock your doors. They can't do that. >> This is not their merchandise. Lock your door. >> Her repeated no, even denying that the items she was holding belonged to Target while refusing to show them to police. Morowix was extremely suspicious. That behavior led her straight to a charge of resisting. >> Stop. >> I didn't do push me out of the way. >> I didn't do [ __ ] >> You're not going to push me out of the way. >> I'm not doing me. >> Okay. >> Push me in crunch. >> I didn't do [ __ ] >> You're not going to push me. >> I pushed you. >> Yeah, you did. >> Ouch. I did not push you. I pushed the door and you hurting my arm. I'm not resisting. >> You stop. >> You been resisting the whole time. No, I didn't. You didn't even grab me. That [ __ ] is hurting. And like I said, I'm pregnant. >> All right. Stop committing crimes while you're pregnant. >> Let me go. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I DID. I didn't do [ __ ] >> You're not being let go. >> All right. I don't have anybody inside. >> Just stop. Don't even ask. >> Okay. Can you let me be on the way out? >> [ __ ] Can you please let me go? I'm not resisting. I'm pregnant. >> You already did resist once. We're not going >> I PUSHED THE DOOR. CAN YOU LET me please untighten this? >> No. >> I'm not going to be quiet. Can you interchange you holler or not? >> Can you please untie me? I'm pregnant. Please. >> No, >> I'm not resisting arrest. >> How many sets of cuffs you got? >> You're on location. >> Cuz at some point we're going to have to obviously fix them cuz >> Exactly. And I'm pregnant. Can you please fix them now? >> Let me go. I'm not doing [ __ ] >> I said I'm pregnant. Can you please fix the cuffs now? I'm pregnant. Hold up. >> This [ __ ] is hurting me. >> After repeating no several times, she then switched to saying, "I'm pregnant." And clearly, this difficulty for the officers did not stop there. >> Yes, it is. Gang, stop talking to me like I'ming stupid. I know what I'm feeling. >> Okay. >> Exactly. You just twisted my arm for me. Thank you. >> Right. >> Wait. >> Why are y'all grabbing me so aggressively, bro? I am 45 positive. >> Y'all really going to piss me off. >> So he he spoke with you and before I waited for him to finish >> just before I walked over there, but the uh people in the store just looked at you guys and said, "Yeah, they're the ones that were telling." So obviously you guys underest. >> Let me go. I can't go nowhere. God damn. >> You're going to our station? >> That's fine. Do I got a choice at this point? You >> absolutely you do not. >> You made your own choice prior to that. >> I don't give a [ __ ] >> I I don't know what's going on. >> Obviously got a choice. >> But she's obviously causing the problem right now. So I'd like you seem more like a more reasonable one. I'd like to hear from you as to what's going on. I mean, is there any reason why this is happening today? >> I got work and gave her ride to the store. >> What was that? >> Work and get her ride to the store. >> Negative. >> This is your car? >> Yes. got more of them. >> At this point, with the other woman's consent, the officers proceeded to check the items in the cart. >> Thanks to her statement, several issues along with the stolen merchandise were clarified right now. Um, we're obviously going to research and track down all this stuff, but is this stuff that she stole as well, or did you guys steal this together? >> No. >> What What is all this stuff that's in the car? I mean, some I I I know that people don't just buy a bunch of shoes and clothes and just leave it in their trunk. You just don't they just don't do that. >> No, they don't. >> So, what where did this stuff come from to the best of your knowledge? >> Well, we just got a lot of this stuff out of her mom's house. Like, she said she's moving. So, her mom stayed not too far from here and we just like loaded this stuff out and then she wanted to stop at Target and that's where all this new stuff came from. Okay. >> This stuff has already been in the trunk. This is Yeah. >> So, all obviously this stuff obviously was what you guys stole today. >> Yes. >> Um there's a TV in the back. Where'd that come from? >> Yeah. Also from from there >> from where? From Target. >> Yes. >> Okay. So, so the t the TV is is in the back is from Target from today. She said >> from this Target, >> right? >> Um >> and I cannot put that in the car. >> She put I know I'm not saying you did put it in the car, but uh she put it in the car. Is that what you're saying? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> What about all the hangers? Yeah. >> Yeah. Take a look. >> There's like four packs of hangers and stuff. >> And then those totes is also stuff that we got from her mom's house. You can like open it. >> Okay. So, the totes. Yeah. Looks like that's >> Yeah, that looks >> used clothes. I'm not worried about that at all. Right. >> The officers also clarified with this woman that although she was not the one actively committing the wrongdoing, she had been complicit in covering it up. Meanwhile, the woman in pink continued to express her displeasure in every word. >> Oh, yeah. But the bottom line is you knew she was stealing. >> Yeah. >> And you guys were together. >> Mhm. >> I'm sure the video is going to show you both putting stuff in the shopping cart. >> Yes. >> Right. So, you both are going to have some responsibility, but again, the level of that responsibility is still up in the air. Um, depends on if you've how many times you've been if you've been arrested before for retail theft, that matters. Um I haven't we can get into that later. Um the level of your coop, you know, level of your cooperation that matters as well. The state attorneys are are they're looking for reasons to um >> I don't want to say give breaks because everyone's going to be held responsible to some extent, but um the level at which you're being held is is going to depend a lot a lot on you. Understand that. >> What do you want? You were mean as hell or something. I don't >> That's what I was about That's what I was about to say. It look like I think that we all got off to a little bit of a bad start. I don't like it when I see somebody. It looked to me like you were struggling and resist with one of my officers and I'm going to be completely honest. I'm already caught. I can't be no blunt than I already am. I'm not I wasn't I was not complying. I just pushed the door and closed. Did I not? >> He never grabbed me. I just pushed the door and closed. >> Okay. >> He never touched me. He never asked me to turn around. He didn't say nothing to me. So that's not >> Well, I wasn't here for the conversation. So I I You pulled up first. You >> I was like the fourth one to pull up. >> Whatever. >> But yeah, >> you were still me. I don't like that. >> Even more ironically, at the police station, this woman kept complaining about being treated like a criminal. Repeatedly bringing up her I'm pregnant claim. Watch the officer's reactions. What do you think about this? Feel free to share a comment. I hear you. >> Cuz y'all was mean to me and I don't appreciate. >> How was I mean to you? >> I don't like the way y'all handled me. If I said I'm in pain, I'm in pain. Don't treat me like I'm George Floyd. >> I didn't treat you like you were George Floyd on the table. >> Did I treat you? Okay. First of all, George Floyd got put on the ground and knelt on for like 9 minutes. You didn't get put on the floor. You didn't get put anywhere for 9 minutes. >> I'm 3 months pregnant. >> But you didn't get put on the ground. >> But you didn't get put on the ground. Number two, Brianna Taylor got shot. Did anybody >> I remember it felt it sound like I would be shot in case y'all didn't even give me to be shot. >> Y'all didn't even give me a chance. >> Come on. >> [ __ ] Everybody Everybody that's scared of the police when y'all not that is so not true. >> Yeah, that's what >> I have come across many black people that have been very supportive of the police. So >> we for you. >> I support the ones that are nice. >> So you support me. >> You were not nice to me. >> High five. Knuckles. Okay. >> See, you like me. >> You all right? >> I'mma be upset if your colleagues take the that I worked hard for. I really am. >> Cuz I don't have an issue with saying >> what was took and what was not. >> I understand. I totally get that. >> It's a lot of with tags on it that were was not stolen. I transported it as you can see. Can't you see? Clothes in a big ass blind bag. You have to understand. I have clothes in a tote. I have clothes that were shoes, boxes of shoes that I paid for. >> I get it. >> Literally, this stuff was not stolen. >> Okay. >> Both women were later charged with retail theft, and the pregnant woman was additionally charged with resisting arrest. The stolen merchandise totaled over $1,000. Refusing to cooperate and trying to cover up wrongdoing only worsens your situation. Honesty and calm behavior can significantly reduce consequences even when caught in the act. What do you think about cases like this? Share your thoughts in the comments and don't forget to like and subscribe so you won't miss the next video >> on the ground. >> What's the is in your hand? Please. >> This is it. >> My girlfriend. >> No one cares. >> Nobody's going to help you. >> It's um 954. >> Bye. On April 6th, 2022, police were dispatched to a Home Depot after reports of a theft in progress. The suspect, a woman armed with what appeared to be a firearm, was stuffing a cart full of power tools. When officers arrived, she bolted, sparking a chaotic chase through the parking lot. >> Get down. Get down. >> I got a 30 in progress. Get down. >> Get down. Get down. >> Get down. Get down. Get down. >> Pointed that on at me, BRO. GET DOWN. >> On the ground. >> What's the is in your hand? >> Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. >> Oh my god. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Yes. Yes. Oh my god. Oh my god. >> Keep your hands behind your back. >> Okay. >> You guys also me >> trying to detain him. Hold on. Detain. >> Keep your hands behind your back. >> Sorry. >> The officer's drawing of their weapons was entirely justified given reports that she was armed. Immediately afterward, they proceeded to escort the woman while investigating the true nature of the supposed weapon. I'm sorry. >> Come on. >> You a boy or a girl? >> I'm a girl. >> Okay, hang on. >> I'm a girl. >> Not without chicken. Can't see the man. So, >> sit still and be quiet. >> What was that that was on the ground? I don't know. >> My lighter. >> We'll find whatever that was. If you try to get up from here again, we're going to have a problem. >> Whatever. She pointed it at me. >> Well, like a book. >> What? Water. I know. I'm not You didn't get no water. This look like a restaurant. It shouldn't You shouldn't point this at people. >> You should You pointed this at me when we were over there. Turn around with that thing. You probably would have been dead. >> Anybody else? >> Looks like a gun from a distance now, doesn't it? >> No, >> it does. I thought >> that was a gun or something. >> I'm going to go see what they what they got. >> At this point, police went inside the store to gather statements from employees. It was clear that she fully understood her wrongdoing, yet arrogantly walked out with merchandise worth a significant amount. >> You're the one that flagged this down. >> Yeah. >> So, what happened? What? Did she take anything or? >> No, we're just standing there. And he just kept walking or she kept walking and I'm like, "Yo, stop. Stop." >> Did she have anything in the shopping cart? >> Yeah. >> So, this is all the stuff she was running out with. >> Yeah. 1,65845. >> Just You just come this just kept walking and now we're sitting right here. And you guys want to press charges obviously or who would make that determination? >> The managers. Uh just to do you coming to work today? >> Yes. Because the schedule says seven. The officers they need you because they have something right here. There's a customer. >> Yeah. I need the prices of each one of these without taxes. >> This is all the club. That's what I meant. I don't know why she needed approval to secure it. >> It turned out the woman had only used a fake lighter to threaten, which was utterly ridiculous. Even more comical were her pleas, as she seemed to think she could buy off the officer's actions. >> Lucky you didn't get lucky you didn't get shot over this. >> You see all them run? >> No, I'm not. >> You're fine. You're fine. >> We can't underestimate. We're equal opportunists. >> Can I huh? Can I have some water? Yeah, I'll get you a bottle of water. We're getting a female to pet you. Um, do you want to stand up or Okay, she going to flee or >> I don't know. She just split from us. >> Oh, okay. Okay. Yeah. >> Running around with that in her hand. >> We got to We got to keep it like this. I'm sorry. >> I was going to say she pointed that thing right at >> if it was a spontaneous turning of the corner and that's pointed at your face. >> She was running around the van playing ring around Rosie. I got over You're crazy, girl. You're blessed right now. Okay. We're both We're everybody's not getting shot. >> Okay. Hey, why don't y'all call my girlfriend, please? Why you please call nobody? Tell me. >> I'll tell her for you. >> Hey, can you call my girlfriend, please? >> Yo, >> people don't know you. Be quiet. >> I give you $100 right now. >> You ain't got no $100. >> All right, I do. >> Why you stealing that? You're a good girl. You're a good girl. Don't get weird on me. What have I done to you? I don't do anything to me. >> All right, it's straight. >> Hey, come on. Hey, come here. You call my girlfriend me, please? You calling your phone me, please? This isn't >> my girlfriend. >> No one cares. >> Nobody's going to help him. >> It's um 954. >> Goodbye. >> 86 865 865. >> What's the matter with you? >> Is that how I call my girlfriend? >> I don't need anybody else here. >> She's not coming. I don't know. I'm going to jail. >> Okay, she's going to know. >> Even more surprising, when officers searched her, they discovered the cash she was carrying. Raising the question of why she would steal when she already had so much money on her. One. Pay attention. This is your money. 1 20 40 60 82 20 40 60 83 82 782 and you're out scaling. Brilliant. >> All right. So, this will be quick. We'll get you some AC. He'll type up some and we'll try to get out of here. There you go. >> Let me get open that for you. >> 1,300 bucks, bro. under. >> Look at >> Yeah, they tried that though. The yellow one, too. >> Oh, from you? >> We came for 21 and probably while we were here. >> Wait a minute. She was trying to take it from his truck. >> Oh, separate. >> Somebody stole the pressure cleaner out of the truck. So, we came here for that and then she >> she came around. The woman was charged with thirdderee grand theft and violation of probation for a previous grand theft. And this time she had grand theft, robbery with a weapon, grand theft auto, battery, and resisting or obstructing an officer without violence. Arrogance and attempts to manipulate the situation only make consequences worse. No amount of cash or cleverness can excuse breaking the law.
