Why are you trying to take me to jail? >> Why are you pulling me? From the words, "You can't touch me." to outright violent resistance, it seemed that with arrogant shoplifterss, nothing was off limits [music] once they were caught red-handed. Let the police show you how it all ended through today's videos. When entitled shoplifterss think they're untouchable until reality hits. We are This is Law, bringing educational value without shaming anyone. Don't forget to like and subscribe. Let's begin with a shoplifter who had nothing but lies. You should not >> come to other stores and commit crimes because you committed a crime, >> right? >> No, I don't have a receipt for it because I didn't get it from here. I didn't get it from anywhere. I got it from my friend's house. >> On the 25th of May 2024, police received a report from a Kroger store about a woman who had committed theft inside the store. What followed still held unexpected twists. Watch what happened next. >> Okay, so here's what's going on tonight. >> Right now, you're just going to be detained. >> So, I'm going to make sure you are who you say you are. Okay? until I can verify that you're not going to be a few other >> I understand that. Yes. >> Okay. Do you have anything on you that can prick or focus? >> Absolutely not. >> Do you have any uh any other stolen merchandise on you at this point? >> No, I don't. No, I don't. >> Is it okay if I search everything then real quick? >> Of course. Of course. What do you What do you need? >> Can I say your stuff down >> real quick? I'm going to get on the computer and figure out who she is. >> Um my name may be hyphenated. Okay. Um it it may be hyphen. Hu >> hu. >> Yes. >> You said Texas. >> Yes. >> You got nothing in Illinois? >> No. No. I don't have a license here now. >> How long you been up there? >> Um I've been here for about a year and a half, two years, something like that. But I don't have a license here. >> Okay. Give me money. >> So what do you need from me? >> Down this way. Ma'am. >> You pay all the bills. >> Yeah. No, that's just stuff that I had. Um I'm moving. I'm going to the center of um the prevention of abuse and all of my steps that I was >> I've been slowly moving it to >> there. Oh, that was mine. >> The woman denied the shoplifting accusation while appearing highly cooperative during the interaction with police. At the same time, several items were found inside her bag. >> There's my alcohol. And um I also have pack cigarettes and stuff in there. I don't have anything in here that's >> perfect. I'm sorry. >> Like I just got it from a friend of mine's house like and I'm I'm not even done yet. >> You got a bottle of Maker Smart from a friend. >> Well, yeah. No, I've I've had that. >> I don't steal things like that. Like earbuds. That's all I needed. That's for those are for my kids. That's four of them. And I just >> You paid for these, too? >> I paid for those. You guys don't sell any of this [ __ ] do you? >> No, >> you don't. They don't sell any of this? >> No, they don't. >> I'm not asking you. I'm not asking them. >> Sorry. They just don't. >> So, when you shoplift, it's kind of hard for everybody to believe you. >> Is that all? I can scan it. >> None of this shit's yours. I promise you it's not yours. >> You also promised me that you were coming in here on us when you came in. So, I'm going to scan it to make sure. >> Going to find it hard to believe you paid for all this. All of it's brand new. >> Go ahead. Go ahead. I don't I know that I didn't steal it from this place. I didn't steal it from any place. >> You didn't steal from this place? Probably. >> No, I didn't steal from >> I don't believe you because >> you don't believe me. >> Anybody that's having issues with money like this social security number? >> Mhm. >> Do they have tattoos? Obviously tattoos. >> I've got >> I need to come out. Come back off >> like came from here except what I paid for and what I tried to steal which was those headbuds. And the only reason why I tried to steal the headbutts is because every time I was off the bus today, they told me that I needed to have earbuds in. And so I apologize for that. >> Although the woman repeatedly offered excuses. The sheer number of items found left police unconvinced, especially her questionable explanations about where those items came from. >> From >> I didn't steal from anywhere. >> Well, how'd you purchase it? I didn't see any money in here. This is not This is I went over to my friend's house today and I got my thing part of my things. Part of my things. I'm at the prevention um of of abuse. The prevention of >> So, let me just tell you something. We're not stupid. So, don't act like you are. I know you didn't I didn't I know you didn't pay for this. You're stealing a pair of headphones from here that are $10. >> I understand that. But all I was doing was I went there. I went there and got my things and then I came here >> and you've been hitting stores on your way. >> No one comes here to steal one thing and has a whole bunch of brand new stuff in their bag. I'm just right there across the away. Like that's that's the only reason why I came in here. >> I'm just right there at the conventional life. >> I got you. >> Do you though? >> Yeah. I would send you to jail to be honest cuz you have no money in way of paying for any of this. I don't see any cash. >> No. No. I don't have any cash. No. >> So, it's funny that you have a whole bunch of brand new, even a bottle of liquor that your friend just is like, "Hey, take all this." >> No, it's not. This was my >> Oh, is it? >> Yeah. Like I just got out of out of a really up relationship. Yes, it's my >> Well, >> like my phone is dead. >> If you get out of a [ __ ] up relationship, you should not >> come to other stores and commit crimes because you committed a crime, >> right? >> So there's no excuse for that. >> My phone's completely dead. >> Perfect. I got a charger for it. You said your ID right here. >> My My charge is right here. >> You said your ID's on it. >> Yes, my ID is on. Why are you You can't take my phone out. >> Oh, you're not going to show us your ID. >> While trying to justify herself, the woman inadvertently admitted to stealing. But what did you think when she immediately denied it moments later? >> That's not your I didn't get that from here. >> Oh, they said you did. >> I absolutely not. >> You have a whole bunch of stolen stuff that you don't >> So, do you have a receipt for it? >> The what? My nail polish. >> Do you have any receipt for all the brand new stuff in your bag? >> No, I don't have a receipt for it because I didn't get it from here. I didn't get it from anywhere. I got it from my friend's house. I've had that [ __ ] >> What friend's house? So, we can go buy an Ascar. >> You want to go buy an Ascar? So, you want me to go? I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Here. What are we doing? I'm sorry. You don't have to put your hand back. >> Why? Why? >> I'm not being Am I being out? You're hurt. Okay. Don't hurt me, please. I'm What am I doing wrong? >> Well, you committed a crime. So, there's one. Two is I'm betting your name's not coming back, >> which is probably a pretty good. We're going to talk about We're going to talk about the name. Okay. >> Ashley. back here. >> Absolutely not. No seat back here. >> So, tell me what's going on. >> Well, I told you right here. >> No, I said ID is on her phone. You want to plug this phone in your car? >> Oh, hey. Immediately after arresting the woman, police attempted to verify her social security information. And that was when they uncovered a new problem. >> What's your social security? Okay. Unfortunately, that person has a different social security number. >> What the do you mean? >> Uh-huh. >> What do you mean? What do you mean? >> So, tell me who you really are. >> I'm telling you who I am. >> What do you mean? >> What's number 44839? >> We're going to get your phone on. You're going to show us your ID. Yeah, I will. I don't have my hands. But yes, I >> You don't have what? >> I don't have my hands. Like >> Oh, no. You're going to tell me how to get to your ID. >> Okay. No, that's not fair because I I should be able to navigate my own. >> Well, we can do we can send you out as a me. That's not me. That's not me at all. >> I didn't say I didn't say it was >> happening right now. That's I know my name's over here in Poria. photo. >> All right. So, we're going to give you one opportunity to show us this ID. What's your password? >> Um, it's like >> And you got to put this the check mark. >> Okay. I don't have this kind of phone. I have no idea. I'm doing everything in front of you. So, you're seeing everything we're doing. Yeah, she says her alias is Ashley Hoax. >> No, that's not that lady is not me. Okay. >> The woman made a strong effort to provide specific details for officers to run her information, but it appeared that the situation only grew worse. >> I just ran that. It says driver's license not found in the state of Texas. >> There's no way. It's my It's been my driver's license since I was 18. Are you serious? >> Yeah, I'm serious. >> Y'all are wrong, dude. Y'all are wrong for this. I'm telling you. Take me to jail. Y'all are going to be wrong for this one. >> You're going to be wrong. >> You're going to jail for retail sets anyway. I don't know why you're arguing. >> You going to tell me I'm just telling you I am not doing anything wrong besides I told you that I stole. >> But you committed exactly. I'm telling you I'm sorry. I'm not. >> They'll finger you in there and they'll know%. >> Yes, I know that 100%. And you're going to be wrong, dude. Because I know I'm right, dude. I know who the I am. >> Watch your language. There's kids walking around. >> I know. I will stop telling you I'm not who I say I am. I know who the I am. >> You know how you hear me? Do you want this window rolled up? You cuss one more time, the window will be rolled up. >> Go back to bed. >> There's kids out here walking around. You're acting like a fool. >> Well, y'all are telling me I'm somebody I'm not. >> You know how you prevent all this? You know how you prevent all this? You don't steal. >> I know that. I know that I up by doing that. I apologize. I do apologize now cuz I get that. Take me to jail for that. I get that. >> Hey, go ahead. It's fine. But don't tell me I'm not telling you who the I am because I know who I am. >> I know who I am. >> I don't know who takes a picture of their ID but doesn't have an ID. >> I know who I am. >> Usually those are fraudulent ones. >> No, that's not a fraudulent ID. >> The woman was charged with shoplifting and providing false information. Admitting guilt and then denying it showed how lies only made the consequences heavier. In the next case, a simple shoplifting quickly turned into something far worse. Two times my size, lady. I'm not a fighter. >> Yeah, I'm going to say that. >> On the 27th of September, 2023, police received an emergency 911 call from a Circle K store about a theft that had occurred. But the situation was far from simple because surveillance footage revealed something far more shocking. No. No. [screaming] YEAH. the [ __ ] out. >> According to the report, these women were questioned about their shoplifting and reacted with violent behavior. And even when officers arrived at the scene, the aftermath was still clearly visible. >> It smells like there's alcohol everywhere. this lady trashed my store. She came she came behind the counter >> literally came behind the counter and attacked her. >> Okay. >> And there's snow. >> It goes on and on throughout the store on our way out. >> All right. Are you injured anywhere, ma'am? >> Like >> I don't think so. I have little cuts and scrapes and my glasses are broken. >> Do you need EMS? >> No. >> No. Have you ever seen this person before? I'm pretty sure she's come in before. Yeah. Okay. The lady trying to steal. It's >> all on camera. Let me ask question. Was she in Was she trying to steal? >> Yes. >> And you confronted her. >> I asked her, "Where are the cans of alcohol that you have?" Cuz I watched her take it out of the door cuz she put them in the cold cup that's down here after she threw it at me cuz they smell like alcohol. It's all over the machine. It's all She poured them in there. >> Yeah. So when I asked her where the cans were, she got all defensive and then was like, "Stay alone." And then she threw the cup at me. Sorry. She threw a cup at me. >> Okay. >> And then she came around the corner and >> she hit me. So I hit her back. >> Okay. >> And a customer, a male customer that was trying to buy stuff came around the counter along with her little friend >> and had to pull her off of me. And then I told her to get out and leave. >> And she kept running her mouth. She went outside, came back in, went outside, came back in, tried to trace me around the store again, and I kept walking away from her. And she kept calling me a scared. I'm not scared of you. I just don't want to lose my job. Not to mention, I'm 4 foot 11 and you're like what? 5 6 foot away from me. I'm tiny. I don't want to be beat up by nobody. >> What did you think about the employees response? Was it justified or not? Let's watch as she explained in detail what she was thinking at that moment, >> saying when they were bringing their those cups in. >> Um cuz I had seen her go over there cuz the doors make a ding ding when you open them. So when they opened, I looked over there and I could see her and she had two cans in her hand. Walked over to the Polar Pop area on this side of the counter. >> So then when she came up with her friend, she had two Polar Pop cups, but no cans. So I already knew I'm not dumb. I've worked for Circle K for 7 years. I know how this works. So I was like, "Where's the cans of alcohol?" And she goes, "Oh, I didn't want them anymore, so I threw them away." And I said, "Well, can you go get them so you can pay for them?" And she goes, "Why don't you go get them?" And was in my face and then picked up the cup and she was like, "Say I won't like to throw it at me." Which she [ __ ] did. And I was like, "I'm not saying that you won't." I was like, "I just want the cans. You go get them." And she threw it at me. And then she came around the counter and >> Yeah. >> chaos. She hit me. I hit her. I might have hit the friend and the poor customer that was there cuz my glasses were off. >> So feet, fist, everything. Just >> Okay. When they came back into the store, did they say anything or >> the the friend didn't come back in? But she had come back in and she had went over there, which I'm guessing she was looking for her stuff. Um, she came back over there, was running her mouth, and I told her, I'm sorry for my language. I told her, "Get the out. Like, just get the out. Go away." And then she came back up to the counter and then started walking this way like she was going to come back over behind the counter. >> The friend, >> no, the girl that. So then I stepped over the on the floor to go that way and she called me a scared which you're two times my size lady. >> So these women showed no remorse at all even after the argument ended and one of the suspects even dropped her keys but sent her mother to retrieve them instead. >> I don't know what happened cuz I was home. So she text me and said she just got in the fight. >> Okay. So I'm like, "Okay." She said, "I just got in the fight to the circle cave and the lady think that me and the girl was stealing >> like that." >> And I'm like, she say, "I might be going to jail." >> Okay. >> So I was like, "Okay." >> Okay. >> So I don't know what happened inside the store. I don't know if she was in there stealing. I don't know, sir. >> Gotcha. >> I was >> I mean, >> if you if you do get a hold of your daughter, her best bet is just come talk to me. All right. He has my case number and go from there. >> Yeah. >> You know, you know what I'm saying? If if if her side of the story is different to what I was told, then I can write her statement what's going on. But you from you just tell me saying that she got into a fight into into the store. I need her side of her story. Okay. >> Okay. >> But like I said, I gave him I provided him my name with the case number so owner of that of that of that key can come to the PD and claim it. >> Okay. She said, "Ma, I don't know if I will be going to jail, >> okay, >> or not, but I just I'm just letting you know that I got into a fight with a lady at Circle K." We know what Circle K, >> okay? cuz she ain't seen the thing. Didn't say. So, so called the police. She called something. She called the Okay. She called the police on me cuz she said that I was stealing which we wasn't we was going to pay for it. Me >> in the suspect's messages to her mother. She never admitted to committing any theft. And at that point, officers tried to persuade the mother to have both suspects come forward to cooperate. >> Whatever. I work till 7. Her best bet is just to call me so I can talk to her in person and go from there. Cuz if not, I'm I'm put out a warrant for her arrest. >> That's fine with me. >> Okay. >> It's my thing. >> I'm just being as mama. For real. For real. I rather her be in jail instead of shot >> cuz most people I ain't saying you but most people in general will actually shoot ass >> is tell you to do what you need to do sir >> this is too much for me >> but I like I said I don't know what happened in this store they got cameras Yeah. >> So, whatever happened, I'm quite sure they going to run the cameras back. >> All right. So, >> Oh, okay. Well, see, >> I got you. >> So, what she stealing? >> [ __ ] Be honest with me. She was stealing. >> Shame. Shame. >> It seemed that her daughter's shoplifting did not surprise the mother at all. And at that point, officers asked for the woman's information as a way to find a means of contacting the suspect. Mom, do you uh mind if I take your ident your name that may contact you know you asked for the keys but I cannot you know >> I'm Alicia Jacobs >> and yes I have been in trouble >> I don't care if you've been in trouble >> just letting you [laughter] know how you feel right now how you feel right now >> I feel good >> like a damn SNITCH [laughter] [laughter] >> sorry camera but you hear Boy, when I get home. >> So, you don't have your ID on you? >> No, I don't have my ID. >> All right. Can you just write it down for me real quick then? >> I told on my damn self. How about that? >> Oh, that was funny. >> No, it ain't all funny. I'm sorry, Mom, but I had to do >> He had to say it. [laughter] >> That was too funny. I'm just standing over here laughing. >> How about them apples? Long as I told on myself. >> Mom's dropping everything. >> What the I was a bad girl. >> I'm a good kid. >> Yeah, he's a good kid. Thank you, Jesus. >> I stay home and go to work for my family. >> Just full name and date of birth, please. >> Oh, boy. Man, you pulled me up. >> I'm not going after you. I'm going after your daughter. >> Well, shame on her. The suspects later turned herself in and was taken into custody, now facing serious charges, including burglary with battery, petty theft, and criminal mischief. Actions driven by denial only made the situation worse, turning a simple theft into serious criminal charges. Taking responsibility early and walking away from conflict could have prevented lasting consequences. Equally astonishing, the woman thought she was fast. >> Concealing. They're claiming that you were consuming merchandise. I don't have anything on video, >> but I don't have anything. >> Okay. >> On October 11th, 2024, police received a call from Walmart regarding a woman who had committed retail theft. And upon arriving at the scene, employees immediately reported that she attempted to dispose of the evidence. >> She got rid of her stuff. >> Got rid of Wait. Got rid of what? >> The other one. Um, >> who's your Who's your friend, man? >> Who? The one you were in the store with. >> Got rid of what? >> Curtain. Curtains. Curtains. Curtain. >> Curtains. Where's the curtain? >> I have no idea. >> Okay. Where's the curtains right now? >> You got rid of I need to know where you're going. >> Where? >> Do you have an ID with you? >> No, I do not. >> Do you have a driver's license? Anything? >> No, I do not. >> You have a purse? You don't have an ID? >> Yeah. >> We're talking about the office. We're going to call you. >> Come in office for >> What's that? >> Come in the office for >> I'm investigating a retail theft. So >> until we figure things out right now. Okay. Until we figure things out, then we can release you. >> But for what though? >> For what? What's your question? Sorry. >> Cuz you all saying that >> per state statute in Wisconsin. Retail theft also constitutes for uh concealing. They're claiming that you were concealing merchandise. So right now I don't have you on video camera. >> But I don't have anything. >> I don't. Did you recal? >> No. No, I don't. I didn't. >> Hear me out. I'm gonna watch these cameras and if it shows otherwise, you're gonna be under arrest for for retail theft. So, >> why I don't have nothing on you? >> That's fine. >> The woman clung to the claim that she had nothing on her and was therefore completely innocent, refusing to acknowledge any other accusations and showing no intention of cooperating. >> Listen to me. I'm not going to ask you again, okay? Let's go in the office and we can talk. >> Well, I'm sorry. >> We can talk. Let's go. >> For what though? >> Ma'am, I'm not going to ask you again. Otherwise, I'll puss you in cuss and I don't want to do that. for >> we can talk in the OPR. >> He's concerned if you conceal items and that's a crime. You understand what I'm saying? >> Right. But he's saying that I I don't have nothing though. That's >> right. No, you don't. Correct. But in the store, it's the same thing. It doesn't matter. Concealed. >> The crime was committed. The moment you conceal anything. So, let's talk office. We can go from there. >> So, what you're saying right now, >> you don't have to walk past the last point of sale in the state of Wisconsin. If you conceal it, >> you said what? >> Rip tags off the curtain. At this moment, officers stood above her, which astonishingly gave the woman an opportunity. Her very next action confirmed her guilt more clearly than any words ever could. Okay. 326 point. >> Okay. >> Hands behind your back. >> Okay. Dang it. >> You're going to get put your hands behind your back. >> Okay, sir. Okay. >> Hands behind your back. >> All right. >> Now. >> All right, sir. Stop on the ground. You get it. >> Okay. No. Stop. Please. Look. Get out. Get out. Get out. Look. Please stop. N >> please. Stop. Please. >> I didn't do it. I don't have nothing. Come on. Stand up. >> Oh, stand up. Let me put on my shirt, please. >> Stand up. It's okay. You ain't going nowhere. >> Okay. So, you might >> All right. All right. No. Wait. No. I won't put on my shirt. >> No. No. No. >> No. You had No. It doesn't matter. You had the opa. It doesn't matter. You have the opportunity to be cooperative. >> You did. So, you're in the situation that you're in because you did it. >> I didn't do nothing. >> I didn't do nothing, though. We go. >> Sit down. >> Okay. Immediately after attempting to flee, she still insisted verbally that she had done nothing while simultaneously continuing to resist and make things difficult for the officers. What did you think about that? >> Stay down, >> please. >> You're making life hard for yourself. >> I got you. >> Can we still go to office? >> Nope. We're past that. You're going to jail. You're going to jail now. >> What you just said? What? Cuz y'all trying to say stuff you are. >> All right. >> Stop resisting. >> I'm not resisting. That's another charge. >> No, we I'm not doing that. Okay, >> sir. You literally said once we went in the office >> that we was going to watch the video. >> Hold on. Cuz we got wires all over. Yep. Did you rip them? >> No. >> Wait. Why is all >> you got to love? >> I want to. >> Just lay flat. You're fine. You're not going anywhere. We got to get the paramedics out here to move these uh prones out of you. >> Just lay flat. I'm gonna lay this down. >> Can you talk to my phone? Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Please. No. >> You said no. >> Yep. Give me a second. >> I'm Your phone is the last thing I'm worried about. Your your uh purse. Last thing I'm worried about. >> Just roll. Yep. Roll your body over. Roll your waist over. Don't try to get up. Just lay flat. >> Wait, what? >> Lay flat. Lay flat. Lay. Just lay flat. >> Can't sit on your butt. You have a whole crown in your butt. Right here. Sorry. Lay flat. What's your name? >> I mean, you got to tell us here. I can get it. We're going to get it regardless. >> What's the name? >> Police successfully apprehended the woman. Everything seemed to become much simpler as officers worked to collect evidence of what had occurred. >> Wait, wait, wait, wait, before you pull me up. >> Hold on. I know that that's not our priority. You want to do too much. That's not our priority right now. Stand up. Stand up. >> Wait. You got the stick of my booty still? >> No. >> What is this pokey me? >> What is this? >> It hurt. >> Hold on. There's nothing here. >> Wait. Do y'all see that? It's electric. >> There's nothing there. It's >> probably from you hitting the brush right there, though. >> That's probably from you hitting the brush right here. That's probably a stick or something. >> Wait. Can you grab my back? >> Yep. I got it. Let's go. >> Okay. Ywhere grandma on the ground. >> Where? >> Hey, Calvin. Can you describe her name? I'm going to There's merchandise over here. This her hat. Yeah, that's the one she ran. In the end, the woman was charged with theft and resisting arrest. Actions speak louder than words. Denying wrongdoing means nothing when behavior clearly shows resistance and guilt. Cooperating early can prevent a minor incident from escalating into serious consequences. Next, we moved into the bank to watch this unreorseful scammer in action. >> At this point, would I just be like, can I just take the charges and you leave? has sent [music] you on a mission to try and cash this fake check. >> Nobody sent me on a mission to do anything else. >> On the 7th of August 2024, police responded to a reported fraud at Sea Coast Bank where the suspect was believed to be a woman who attempted to cash a check. And when officers approached, she provided a highly questionable explanation about the origin of the check. >> I don't I just explained to her I don't cash that came to me by my billing address. It was a company that I used to work for during the like before the pandemic hit. So, you know, I even reached out to the bank myself, you know, and I even said, "Hey, this was sent to me by my mailing address. I don't need to cash a fake check. I have a legitimate job." >> Okay, you have your ID. >> So, I'm just saying like I don't need anything on my record cuz I ain't never been to jail for no fraud, nothing. So that's one thing for sure is like I never been to a jail for fraud. I never did fraud. That's like the second check I got by mail. The first one I just tossed it because it was like, you know, hey, I don't >> But if you look at the back, there's no watermarks or >> So I don't deal with tracks anymore. I usually get everything strictly deposit. So that's why I'm like curious like hey I even called Ben before I came here >> and said hey can you guys verify this over the phone she said no >> you still have the letter the mail >> it was no letter it just came in an envelope >> or that envelope >> and no I don't have the envelope sorry >> the woman insisted that even she herself was confused by the check and although the employee acknowledged this there were still factors that made them suspicious of her >> did she try to cash it or >> cash okay she's saying she just came in here to try to verify its validity. >> No, she asked to verify the check. I asked she spoke to her. >> She told her that she'll verify it and what's her intentions to do the check. She was she wanted to cash it with us. >> I we asked her where the you know checking from but I'm mistaken. She said that she'd been waiting for it. >> She's coated on her >> and that magically just her $9,000 check. >> Yeah. What is my next step of filing a complaint against the company that sent me? >> No, we'll be we'll get there in a sec. >> You still live at the address of your license? >> No, I was going to change that. Um, I meant to change my address, so I've kind of gotta change that on my next day off. >> Oh, that's not my license. Well, I'm in the process of moving. So, that's the I need the process of moving. So, that I got to change my license on this week. Well, next week cuz I took today to like run, finish my home, doing errands and everything. >> And just like I explained to the young lady, I was like, I don't deal with checks period. Like I usually have my bank to call and verify. I usually come to the bank wherever the check is issued to to have them to verify it. That's why I didn't go to my own bank because I didn't want to deposit and then have fraud hit on my own account. >> That was her explanation for going to a bank far from home. What do you think about that explanation? Yet, despite everything, she still believed she could take the money and leave easily >> at this point. Would I just be like, can I just take the charges and leave? >> So, >> even though it's not like >> So, are you admitting that you did something? >> No, I'm just saying. So why would you want to take the charges? >> Just so I can go. >> Well, you're not leaving. If you take the charges, you be going to jail. Even longer than 30 minutes. >> And if you was to see a check from that company, the signature don't even close. >> Okay. >> Nowhere near close. >> And then you know my peoples was like, um, go to the bank, check it out because you don't want to just stretch something that could be what they owed you. And I was like, nah, nah, I really don't need it. I have a I have two jobs now, you know, like what do I really need it? But then >> they got a hold of somebody at that company. >> They didn't. Well, I tried. Nobody answers for me. >> And what did they say? >> That is not a good check. >> Yeah. So, I've been really busy moving and working wise. So, I haven't like take the time out to come to a bank or go to my bank. >> At this point, officers worked in parallel, directly questioning the woman about any intent to commit fraud while simultaneously contacting the company named on the check. >> Hello. >> Hi. Hey. How you This is officer blow with OPD. >> Good. Um, so I guess a check from your company was they attempted to cash at the sea coast. >> That's what I'm saying. Like I can give you the manager's phone number. >> You gave us his name. >> Michael. >> Michael. It's a very common name. >> Oh, please don't make me try to remember the last name. It's It's >> There's probably 20 Michaels that work in our department. >> Do you guys want to press charges? I mean, somebody somebody was trying to defraud your company on $9,000. It's up to you guys. >> But I mean, like, >> so we see this a lot. People get checks from people on the outside. They're like, "Hey, go to this bank, check the C or cash the check, and I'll give you a percentage of it." >> No. >> None of that happened. >> Nobody told me to cash anything. The check literally came by mail. >> You didn't print that check yourself? >> No. You don't have a printer in your car? >> Cuz I've seen that, too. >> I don't have a printer in the car. If you want, you can literally My car is like literally right there. Okay. >> As the questioning continued, more inconsistencies appeared in her statement, clearly suggesting that the check had been prepared by her as she could not even accurately recall the details tied [music] to it. >> Last month, I got a check by mail from the company that I used to work for. >> Um, >> last month. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What was the name of the company? It was um I don't remember their name. I just know it was a call center, but they had closed down >> when the pandemic hit. >> Okay. >> But >> how long did you work there? >> A year. >> A year. >> 6 months to a year before the pandemic came around. >> Okay. >> So, >> and you don't remember the name of the company? >> I'm sorry. It's just I worked so many jobs after that just trying to stay up with >> bills and everything. Um Okay. But >> you got direct deposit from them. Or did you get paid by check from them? >> From them. I got direct deposit. That was like >> a long time ago with an old bank like >> Okay. So you don't bank with that bank? >> I don't bank with Chase no more. >> Okay. So when you work for them, you bank with Chase? >> Yes. >> You got direct deposit from them via Chase? >> Yes. >> Okay. Um, then after investing that job, I went and started working. I didn't go to McDonald's right away. >> Mhm. >> I applied for McDonald's, but they said I don't have the qualification skills, so I went. >> Really? Wow. Okay. >> So, I went to SeaWorld, got hired at SeaWorld, New York, and um >> Yeah. Oh, who you going to now? >> Additional finance. >> Okay. So from Chase, you want to additional finance or >> No, I went to like a different bank after that. I went to West. >> Why do you keep moving banks? >> Cuz like >> I had Chase Banks since I was in high school. >> I mean, it was like, >> you know, >> well, first I started with Bank America and then, >> you know, they start talking about how Bank America is scamming people and stuff. Then that's why I moved in Chase. >> Okay. So, the woman had experience dealing with multiple banks, raising the question of whether that was the reason she was able to recognize the issues with the check she brought in. >> So, you skeptical about the check? >> I just kind of just pushed it to the side cuz I had a lot going >> Why were you skeptical about the check? >> Because >> Was it the way that it looked? >> Yeah. >> Where's the check at? >> It was the way it looked and it was just like >> What? What about skeptical looking at it? What look what look weird about it? >> For one, a check is never this big. >> Okay, >> I'm just, you know, being straightforward. It's never this big. >> I've seen a couple checks that day before. >> Um the little gold stamp thingy. I have seen a check with gold stamp or silver stamp or something. >> And it was just on the back. >> What about the back? You can usually it'll say no cotton, >> but it was just for me it was like I just folded it up like this and just >> let's look at the check >> and I just really put it in my wallet and I'm kind of just like >> did the fonts throw you off a little bit? >> Yeah. >> So looking at this check right using everything that you pointed out to me right it's probably fair to say this is a fake check. >> Yes. >> Yeah. Right. Um, all right. >> It was very likely that the woman had prepared her story as a fall back once police arrived. And at this point, officers tried to extract the truth from her. >> They're talking with me, but now I have a couple questions for you, okay? And this is where I just want you to be truthful with me at this point. >> Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. Cuz you ain't been 100% with me. >> Yes, you have. And that's okay cuz I I got a quick memory. It happened. It's gone. I ain't even worried about it anymore. Okay. But I am worried about you at this point cuz someone got you in here cashing a check that you know it's fake. Okay. Hold on. Tell me what I'm talking about. Don't listen. Listen. >> I know it's fake when I looked at it by the mail. That's why I kind of was like I brushed it off. >> I was going to shred it myself but like I said >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Other co-workers and friends and I was like family. Look, they sound like family. Oh yeah. It's a legit check, cash, you know, I got my money type, but like whatever. >> But but you you and I both look at this check and you just told me that it was fake pretty much. >> Yes. All right. So >> that's the reason why I >> So So hold on now. Hold on now. I'm just going to everything that you told me and the conversation so far. I'm going to tell it back to you and you going to tell me how this makes sense. Right. Okay. You say you work at a call center, right? This should be a call center, >> but you don't even know the name. This check is from Construction Inc. That's not a call center. Okay. For one. All right. Even if you did work at this company, okay, I call the company. We talked to the company. >> They don't know you and they don't know no Michael Cole. >> They don't know Michael Cole. Listen, listen. Listen, Ash. Listen, listen. Okay. That's not true. >> Okay. >> All right. So, I'm going to let you look at this check. I'm going to let you think about everything that you just told me. All right? I'm going to give you the second one, >> and I just want you to tell me the truth about the check. >> Now, listen, listen, listen to me. >> Under police pressure, she eventually revealed more of the truth, introducing the involvement of her boyfriend, whose name appeared on the check instead of hers, contradicting her earlier statement. >> So, in the beginning, me and him had a relationship. >> Okay. Like you clearly see >> a relationship over text? >> No, we was really in a relationship >> like you guys would see each other in real life. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Then he moved, you know, over there where he's at now. >> Where is that? >> In Connecticut. Overseas. >> Okay. Overseas in Connecticut. >> That's where he said he went to Connecticut. >> Okay. >> Um personally, I was like, "Okay, we can try to make this work." >> Mhm. Then I thought that I was like I don't want to do a long >> How long have you guys been trying this longist relationship thing? >> A good little minute. >> Okay. A good long minute is what a week or month. >> He's like I'm going to send you a check to pay for your expenses. >> Okay. Well, you need the check is fake. >> But I waited until I had a day off to say, hey, I came to the bank and I said, "Hey guys, I got a check in the mail. It felt a little awkward for me to go to my bank to deposit it. I know it took a long time to process or whatever the issue may be and stuff. And I was like, you know, can you guys verify this? I was like, I don't Tell them, tell him, >> "Call me." >> And then tell him the police don't believe that story when he calls. >> Like, I'm honestly telling you the truth. >> I think whoever this person is has sent you on a mission to try and cash this fake check. >> Nobody sent me on a mission to do anything else. I'm telling you the truth like 100%. >> So the check was not sent by a stranger and it was clear that the woman was directly involved with the fake check leading officers to place her under arrest. >> I never been arrested before. I never had anything to do with anything. And it's just like it's really difficult for me to even try to process this because it's like I never had to to do any of this before. >> All right, Ashley, stand up for stand up for us. close. >> I'm sure we can we can go ahead and contact her in a second. >> I can let her know. Please, can I can I please call her? >> Well, we'll call her in a second. Say, [snorts] >> I'm telling the truth, though. Like, I never had anything to do with [ __ ] >> You guys don't even have to arrest me. >> Yeah. >> Can I just call her, please? I'm sure they'll be call my phone, please. >> At this point, you're going to be in custody of taking to jail. I don't want to make any decisions for them. >> No, no, you don't have to make any decisions. Can you just let me call her on my phone, please? I'm asking you. Just please. >> We can walk and talk. Okay. >> Okay. Can I just Can I get my phone? >> We'll walk and talk. This is the share and their mom. >> Yes. >> The woman was charged with attempting to pass a fraudulent check and taken into custody for her direct involvement in the scam. Trying to outsmart the system with a fake check only led her straight into handcuffs. Next up, an influencer also can be a shoplifter. >> I got 300. >> It's not That's it. >> Yeah. >> Oh my god. >> Gucci DJ. It's not cheap. >> That is cheap. That is really cheap. I think I throw everything back once my husband was rushing me out because we were late for the show. >> On January 5th, 20125, police approached a woman known as singer Trang Dai, who was famous within the Vietnamese immigrant community on suspicion that she had taken an accessory from a display case without paying. But it appeared that the situation was not going to be easy. >> So, I don't have it. And so, what happened? >> Okay. >> I did buy >> on the video. It shows you were here yesterday. It shows that you purchased two box of chrome and it shows you took a keychain from the display case. I mean I didn't >> and as they were bringing you up just the it's the the iPod holder. >> I know. But as you were as you as you were bringing up the cologne >> I looked at the uh iPod holder but it didn't fit. So I didn't buy it. >> Well you walked out with it cuz they didn't. >> No I didn't. >> Did you ask them if they can look around to see if it fell into it? Because it's really small. It doesn't >> they don't have it and you walked out with it. No, I did. >> And then you came back today to the store and that's where they recognized you, >> right? I came back. So I didn't do anything wrong. >> That's why I came back. If I did something wrong, why would I come back? >> That's that's what happened. So you walked when you came back. >> It's not Let me Let me tell you. It's not a keychain. >> So what is it then? It's not a keychain. What is it? >> It's a AirPod holder. >> No. On the on the video, there's no only AirPod holder that I see. >> Oh my god. I That's the only thing I No, that's the one. It's silver. That's the only thing I look at. what I'm waiting for. It's Yes, it's a AirPod holder. I don't need any keychain. It's not a keychain. >> While denying her actions, she stated that she had taken the AirPod holder, but this did not match what the police report indicated, and a dispute over the issue erupted. >> Air holder. >> I didn't find it on you. Let Let me check your bag. I couldn't find it. >> A keychain item. >> You know what? I'm rich. I have money. So, if they want to pay it, fine. But it's not a keychain. It doesn't fit this. I took it out. Why don't you look like the camera kills me? I took it out. I put it in. So, did you see me putting it in? >> No, I see you taking the the iPod and you're looking at the keychain >> to put it in there. >> What? But >> to put it to put the keychain in there >> to test this to see if it fit, >> right? >> It's not a keychain. I'm a fashion designer. I know. It's not a key chain. So, what was it then? >> It's a AirPod holder. >> It's a AirPod case. Call them. It's a AirPod case. >> They swear it was a keychain at 300. >> It's not That's it. >> Yeah. >> Oh my god. >> Gucci keychain. It's not cheap. That is cheap. That is really cheap. I buy stuff for like thousands of dollars. Okay. This Chanel bridge is $7,000. Okay. It's not a keychain. It's a haircut. >> How can I tell you? >> What did you think about her explanation just now? Leave [music] a comment. At this moment, officers returned to the store and another story began to unfold. >> I guess you guys are working here. You don't want me to take over. >> You guys reported it online yesterday. >> Today. Where is it exactly that she was standing? like a video. >> And what what was the air >> keychain hair over there? >> Did you see the video like the video? >> She can come up. >> She's arguing if it's a keychain or >> No, it's a keychain. >> It's takes a the ear right here slides underneath her wallet and just keeps it in and pull forward. She never brings the gun down, never put it back. I know forever the count walks over kept them distracted all clustered and walk forward. She keeps going around 308. Let me show you that she walks out. She's going to go down the fragrance and then puts it back. Still has the folder and then she walks out. I can show you walking around at 308. At no point she didn't pay for the item. >> Nope. Nope. And then just watch out. [music] Her husband's outside. Where's her husband? I don't know. >> Can I see the beginning of the video where she could just see her face again? Cuz I was supposed to have That's the same lady you recognize that came back today. >> Same hair color. >> She said she come back today. >> No. Okay. Uh, you guys want to press charges? >> Yeah. >> According to surveillance footage and employee statements, it appeared that what the woman had said earlier was completely untrue and she was questioned about it shortly afterward. >> All right. Do you have the right to remain silent and do anything? >> Yes. >> Has anyone threatened you or promised you anything you should have talked to? >> No. >> Do you want to talk about what happened at >> Yeah, like he said now. So, I bought two uh cologne, but while waiting for them to bring me up, I saw like a AirPod holder, but because he keeps saying a keychain, that's why it's confusing. >> Well, this is what it is right here. So, it's not it's not really confusing because it doesn't look like a keychain. >> Oh, well, I don't think there is. I tried >> to answer this one. Okay. >> It's it's it's a it's a whole AirPod holder, but I wasn't sure if it would fit this. So, I tried put it on there. >> I put it on, but it didn't fit. That's why I didn't get it. I just left it. >> What did you do with it? >> I just left it back. And then >> where did you leave it at? >> Uh on the Just threw it on the counter. And then >> which counter the counter check? >> Yeah. Where they bring up the the bottle? >> So, where So, exactly where you run out the bottle. >> Yeah. Because what happened was they ran me up and I put the credit card in and it didn't go through somehow. It was kind of It was really crazy. So I don't I was trying to hurry to get out to go to work cuz I had to sing. So I've been to do work and then then they make me do it again. So it was kind of crazy cuz they were bringing a few people up. So I don't remember. I just said, you know, hurry and hurry and then >> despite the evidence, she showed no sign of guilt and refused to admit anything. Even shifting the blame to the store's negligence rather than her own actions. >> So maybe that's what I was trying to tell. Maybe can they search the whole store if it might have fell somewhere before they >> So here's the deal with your store. All right. It's not true. I reviewed the video. You're seeing putting it under your wall. They have a camera right above. >> Yeah, I know. I see the camera. Obviously, I can see everybody with >> Everybody has camera. >> I only Hey, so you take it. It's It's 330 bucks. All we're asking All we're asking is cooperation is mission. All right. I'm not asking you to sit here and continue makeup stores. >> You put the keychain holder under your wallet. You walk around the store and you exit. You never once drop it in. Okay. Everything in that store is >> I've never taken anything. >> Is it you forgot? You wanted a home. Did you forget and that's why you came back there? >> Nobody's accusing you of being. >> I'm not obviously I'm rich. I can afford all this. >> I understand. Is it an accident? Is this a misunderstanding? >> Maybe. I don't know. It's really crazy cuz this never happened to me before. I was in a hurry because I sang at the Teletron in um >> Where is it at? Do you have it at home? Can you go back and get it? >> Get what? >> The the airplane. >> I don't have it. Maybe it fell somewhere. I don't have it. Seriously. >> Where? >> But if you wanted to pay, I I don't want to pay. I don't have it. I swear to you, I don't have it. If they want me to pay, I will pay. >> Is it in your car? >> I don't have a car. I've been taking Uber. I don't live here. That's why. >> Where do you live? >> I live in California. I don't have it. Seriously. >> But you told me you put it back right. >> No, I don't remember. I I think I throw everything back once my husband was rushing me out because we were late for the show. The only reason we came in here because his outfit was malfunction. So, we went to Demon and bought him a suit. A suit of suit. She cited her wealth to deny stealing and blamed her rushed schedule from back-to-back shows, showing no humility. But even so, the police made their decision. >> You got to put your hand on your back. At this time, you're being placed under arrest. >> Why is that? >> Um, for retail petty. >> What? But I didn't take it. >> The video shows otherwise. They did an inventory of the store. >> I didn't take it. So, we're done. I can't go home. Unfortunately, ma'am, because you're not a resident of Orange County or OciOla, I'm not able to do what we typically do, which is a barge or Huh. >> So, where do I >> uh you're going to go to Orange County Jail and you're going to be you're going to bond out from there. >> So, somebody has to come and bond. >> Yeah. Somebody have to come out and bond you. Your bond will be $1,000. >> Okay. They can do it right away. >> Uh I don't know as far as like on their end how long it takes, but you will be able to bond out as soon as you get there. It's just a matter of how long they're Can I tell them? >> I'll let them know. They're my only here. >> Give me a second. Can you get Somebody's going to go do a statement at a Gucci. >> You want all your property? >> Do you want all your property to go to? >> You want me to say your >> family over there? But can I talk to them? >> Basically, they >> I'll stand in here. I'm not standing. >> Do you want them to know that you're being arrested? >> No, I don't because this is crazy. No. No. Can I just stand here and talk to them? Go to this door. >> We'll have to get them to your property. And what are they supposed to know about? >> Otherwise, where is it going to be? Here. It'll have to go to the jail. But I mean, I don't know. Where's your vehicle at? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You'll get it back. My >> So, I can take it with me. >> My only concern is because one, the price dollar of your bag, and two, if they don't allow that in the jail because sometimes they're very technical. >> Finally, the woman was charged with petty theft. Denying responsibility and relying on status or excuses does not outweigh clear evidence, [music] and accountability ultimately determines the outcome. Next, this girl foolishly believed she could deceive the police. >> For what? Why are you trying to take me to jail? >> Why are you pulling me? >> Why are you pulling me? >> Why are you pulling me? >> You're under arrest. >> For what? >> On July 31st, 2023, police were dispatched to the mall after receiving a report that two women were suspected of removing security tags from clothing and stuffing the items into purses. And upon approaching them, officers did not hesitate to state directly the reason for their presence. What's going on, Monster Haboon? Police parts on camera. Have we been going a lot of stores lately? I don't know. >> So, why have we getting calls about you two ripping off magnet tags? >> What? Ripping off magnet tags? >> I just came out of American Eagle. >> So, security said they've seen you guys rip off multiple magnet tags off. >> I ain't seen me do nothing. We could go back to American Eagle. >> There you guys aren't free to go. All right. You guys are staying right here. All right. >> No, I'm saying we can go to American Eagle. That's where we just left. We just came in here. >> All right. You guys are not free to leave. We're figuring until we figure out what's going on. All right. That's what we've been told. We have to go off though, right? >> We just walked in here. >> I know. They said you're an American Eagle Foot Locker. >> I walked in finish line. Ask for some. Why? He didn't say nothing to me. >> So I'm So we figure out what's going on, man. You want to come over here? >> What we got to do? What we going to do? >> Do you mind opening up your purse so we see what So make sure there's no items in there that might be stolen. >> That is crazy. No. >> All right, that's fine. So we've got multiple people saying we've seen it. We got most people saying otherwise. And usually what happens they put in their purse >> where we need to go back to America easily possible both of them. Uh no we're gonna have my other officers come here. We're gonna figure what's going on. All right. >> So we gota stand right here. >> Yep. So where you what's going on the magnet tax? >> I don't know what they talking about. Nobody got a magnet. >> Why did they say nothing to us? >> Well, usually they don't say anything. They just report it and then we come out. It's normally shared practice for >> These women attempted to leave instead of cooperating. And the more details from the report were mentioned, the more aggressively denied the accusations. >> You're going to stand right here. >> I'm not I'm not >> Yes, you are. You're being detained. >> How? >> Cuz we've got multiple calls from security saying that you guys are ripping tags off, put stuff, and taking stuff out of the store. >> I have nothing. >> All right. Then what's may I see? Look inside your purse. >> Yeah, you can look inside my purse. >> What I want to know is at what point did they say you guys? Because >> cuz they describe black female, black shirt, grace. What? Black female. >> Where my purse at? Where? I haven't had a purse since he seen me. Call him back over here. >> He [music] is. He's over there. >> Call him back over here. He ain't seen me with a purse since I've been in here. >> And I seen him in American Eagle and I walked down the finish line. He walked by over there. I haven't had a purse since I came in this mall. >> All right. Like I said, that's what the information we've been given. >> And he li your name real quick. >> Yeah. here. >> Okay. I appreciate it. >> Do you understand why we're here? >> Yeah. They said that they got us on camera. So, >> at one point, >> well, my problem is that I have I have security on I've seen you guys on camera take jeans from American Eagle, take tags off with your purse and drop it off in a car. >> Hold on. Let's go to American Eagle. Show I have I don't have a purse. >> That purse. Ain't nothing. I ain't a >> No. That's why you guys went out to the car. That's why you guys went to the car and dropped it off. >> You didn't drop nothing off. >> No. Didn't see me. Nothing. No. I didn't take anything. I haven't had a purse. No. Not. No. Don't put me with that. No. Come on. Show me the camera. Show that. Can we walk down there? I want to see this camera. No. >> The investigation showed that she was fully confident in her innocence because all the evidence had been hidden in her car. But the police decided not to let it slide and directly [music] took action. >> What was your name? here. >> All right, I'm going to have you turn around and put your hands behind your back. >> I didn't steal nothing. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> I didn't steal nothing. >> Stop. Just listen. We're trying to help you out. Okay. >> I did not steal nothing. >> Stop or you're going to go for resistance. >> For what? Why are you trying to take me to jail? >> Why are you pulling me? >> Stop. >> Why are you pulling me? >> Why are you pulling me? >> You're under arrest. >> For what? >> Stand up. >> For what? For what? >> For what? I didn't take nothing. WHAT? WHAT DO YOU HAVE? WHAT DO I HAVE? WHAT ARE YOU PULLING ME? >> What are you pulling me for? What are you pulling me for? Turning on my phone. What are you pulling me for? >> You're under arrest. You know you're also being charged for resistance. >> How? >> You keep pulling the wind. >> I'm not I'm talking to you. What did I take? You don't got nothing on me. >> Keep on looking for that car. >> Is you serious? >> All right. Do you guys hear >> the vehicle in the parking lot? They're secure. Walk up. Just keep walking. You >> keep on walking. >> Are you serious? You just check You just checked my bag. >> Yeah, but there's something different. >> What? What is it? >> You'll find out. >> What? What is it? So So tell me. >> I don't need to tell you. >> Cuz you Why not? You You detained me. You supposed to tell me what I'm under arrest for. >> Retail theft. I just told you. >> What? What did I take? >> We already We already discussed that. >> Y'all just checked my bag. >> Yeah, but >> And then y'all was looking for a magnet. >> Nope. >> So what is you talking about? >> Retail theft. What did I take? >> American Eagle. >> I didn't take nothing from American Eagle. >> Go this way. >> At that point, the woman had already been taken into custody and officers also provided a clear explanation regarding the fate of the other woman. >> Um, so it looks like is it your sister? You guys sister. Okay. It looks like she's not going to be hooked for anything today. Um, she's going to be able to go. Um, just so you know. I know you were worried about what was going on with her and stuff. >> Okay. Can I talk to her before? So, >> we'll see when she comes out. They're still answering questions with her. Um, so essentially what they're saying is you guys took five pairs of jeans and two pairs of Birkenstocks. >> Birkenstocks >> like sandals. >> I never took no Birkenstocks and I never took no jeans. >> Okay, they're doing an we're making them do an inventory right now. >> Can you put Is it a camera? Can you Can they show the camera? So, we're working on that. >> They can see I did not take nothing. >> Okay. So, what happened? Why are they like And I honestly like I walked in and I don't know you guys. I don't know them. I don't know what's going on. Right. So, we're trying to figure out what the hell actually happened. >> Like, we literally came in. Okay, >> we looked around. She was the uh heavy set girl was talking to my sister cuz they both heavy set and she was talking about some jeans. >> Okay, >> I was looking around. I came back. We left out. We went to uh finish line. Uh the man was my sister was like, "She want these shoes." And she was like, "Is these men shoes?" Cuz she got big feet. And he was like, "Yeah." So we like we going to come back and get them. Okay. >> And then that's when we went over there to uh is that a pasta right there that you >> and then we got to talking to her. I was going to buy some jeans and them the jeans. Like I got money, >> right? I hear you. >> So like I never took no Birkenstocks. I never took no jeans out there. Can they please get the camera so they can see? >> That was what happened from the woman's perspective, but she omitted the detail of stealing and disposing of the evidence because shortly afterward the police uncovered the truth. >> It's 30:30. And then we were talking to them and then AirPods comes in. It's like, "Hey, we found a pair of jeans with a with a tag removed exactly where they were standing." When I come on scene, one black shirt, she pulled a pair of jeans. She saw me and just went down. >> That exact pair of jeans was one tag ripped off and that was 3030 pair as well. >> Is that So, did we find the rest of this stuff or just >> It's all It's all It's long gone. So essentially, you went back there into the back corner, started rumaging through some clothes and making a mess and took a knee and >> I took a what? >> Bent down, >> put put the clothes in your purse. And when they come to that exact same location where you were standing, they found four tags miraculously where you were standing. >> I didn't take nothing, though. Go where the camera. >> And then you came in originally with a bag full of stuff. >> With a bag full of stuff. >> And now your bag's empty. I didn't come. >> And then where you walked by on the exit, there's a pair of jeans with one with a tag directly in the pocket right where you were standing at pre. >> And then also this was on your pants. >> I was up in there though. >> Same pair same pair of jeans that was stolen. >> I didn't take nine. They was on there. >> Uhhuh. How' they get on your pants? >> They was on there cuz I was grabbing them. I can lift it up. I can pull them up. Who said I can't touch it? >> Although the woman continued to deny everything. Once at the police station, she showed concern about the crime she had committed. And what do you think about this? Leave a comment below. >> That's That's what she said. >> Yeah, but you have prior. >> What does that What does that mean? >> Makes an automatic felony. >> How does that make it automatic felony? That was years ago. >> It's still You have prior for retail theft. So they automatically make it a felony. >> Yes. >> When they start doing that? >> Uh since the law was created, I believe. >> They ain't they ain't never did did that. Even when I had like a prior felony for driving. This is crazy. Y'all did it. Fine. [ __ ] Y'all don't even got a camera and you y'all putting it as a felony. So So people don't don't change. Just like a crackhead. They don't they going to recover and what? In the end, she was charged with retail theft and resisting arrest. Actions have consequences, and denying the truth only makes the outcome worse when the evidence eventually comes to light. What do you think about cases like this? In the next case, this woman was arrested and fired on the very same day. >> So, Barb, you decided on your own to refund it to your account. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> And I'm sorry. >> You basically committed a felony. You will be arrested. You will be going to jail. >> On March 11th, 2025, police received a report from a Napa auto parts store regarding an internal theft. The suspect was believed to have exploited the refund system to funnel money back onto her personal credit card. Watch as the store manager revealed his account of how the scheme unfolded. >> She's basically scanning items and then taking her phone and tapping and doing the refund to her to her card >> to her personal card. on items that she hasn't purchased and and really haven't been returned. She's doing the return. >> Okay. So, there's people there returning. >> There's not even people there. She's just picking an item in the store and then returning it. >> Okay. So, Okay. So, it's basically she's picking an item, she's scanning it, and then she's that she paid for it, which then she's returning it, >> right? >> Okay. >> So, I've got her for about $200 on camera, but I can tie her credit card back. Of course, we just got turned on to this yesterday. Um, I can tie her credit card to about $2,100 for a return. >> So, how how do you were able to get the title of the credit card? How do you get that >> because of her credit card number being at the being on the transaction and it's the same credit card that she uses to pay on her personal. >> Okay. So, beyond the fraud that had already been reported, she had also stolen merchandise directly from the very store where she worked. Her method was so simple that deputies quickly identified exactly how the scheme was carried out. So you have all those transactions already that shows the two like the thousand something like that. So you got on camera doing $200 worth of it. >> U but you don't have the other 200 the other amount but you have the transaction of her credit card. >> Well her is it a credit card or is it a bank card? >> It's a debit card. >> It's a Visa card. >> It's a Visa card. Debit card or a credit card? >> Credit card. >> It's a credit card. >> It looks like it cuz it's the same forward ending. So cuz usually debit cards the way we cuz once you get over the limit of a credit card that's your limit they're not going to keep refunding you more money into the credit card. So you sure it's not a debit card? >> Well it's a Visa card that's tell you it's a Visa card personal card. So she purch So she purchased these stuff and then ask for refund back for these. >> No, this is just showing what she's actually purchased compared to >> the past. So it's nothing on the crown. Okay. Nothing. Okay. This is just something in the past. But >> um how were you able to find out that? Okay, you got on camera and then all the the cards to her, >> right? So if these are the ones we have her on camera, which are the most recent, >> the last three. >> Does this show when you scan it, does it show who the card comes back to or >> No, it just comes back to So the reason I could tie it to her, so see the first of I could tie it to her because she pulls it out her phone and she she hits it with her phone to do the refund. >> Okay. So this one right here, this is her actually making a payment on her account of stuff she's purchased. Same >> same card as the ones that's going in here. And these are >> the last four digits of card. >> According to the original statement, the employee had been clever enough to avoid detection for a long time until her growing confidence from repeated success ultimately exposed her. >> I got her ID. I got her >> information. We got information. So, she's always been smart enough not to do the same item twice, but last month she did the same set of spark plugs three different or three sets of spark plugs three times. >> Okay. So, it's like miscellaneous item that she's been doing. >> Yeah. >> Um like >> miscellaneous auto parts, right? >> Okay. Raise your right hand. >> Everything you told me to help you got. >> All right. Perfect. And first another thing I got >> you guys want to prosecute press charges on her. Okay. >> And we follow through. I I got another case with y'all right now on the external tab. >> So, she's getting it ready and she actually has it hid underneath her desk. >> She put >> she gets tape ready. >> She used to work at O'Reilly's >> and I think she got fired from O'Reilly for the same thing. >> She's been with y'all since it opened, right? >> No, she's only been with She's been with it about five or six years. >> Kenda does like a Apple P type refs. Yeah, ours are taps. See the little black thing right there? You'll see her in a second. She's going to slide over. >> You can see the card. You saw the red card on her screen. >> And she she slides over now. Watch for >> She's still in the store. >> She's supposed to be working today, correct? >> Yeah, she was there. We just watch. She was there. Now, sometimes she'll run out and get a drink or something like that. back. >> At that moment, deputies and the suspect's supervisor approached her and her shift was immediately terminated while she was in a state of confusion. >> See that? >> Well, I mean, I was at the bank where I was at her car, right? >> Yeah. >> You looked she was inside her car. >> I did. Hey Jamie, how you doing? I'm deputy from the Palm County Sheriff's Office. This is Deputy Cortez. Um, so there is situation going on here that was brought to our attention. Before I start asking any question, I'm going to read you your Miranda rights. Okay. >> Um, everyone that I read you, you're going to tell me you understand them. Yes or no. >> Okay. >> All right. Um, >> I do. You have the right to remain silent and not answer any questions. You understand that? Um, reference to like refunding and when they saw they have you on camera getting items and refund them to your account >> to your card >> to your bank card >> or credit card, whatever card you were using. >> The only time I've ever done that was for when I did a purchase for Joe and he had me do something else for him. >> Who's Joe? >> Joe Wagner. He had me do a return on something and then had me repurchase him a um a hitch somewhere. >> The woman attempted to offer an excuse, claiming it was a negotiated transaction with someone, unaware that police already knew about all of the other transactions. >> Okay. So, it's been going on since November to March. Okay. And it's the same card that's been using the transaction. When I looked at the camera, it's you. >> Okay. >> Okay. Have you been doing this from March to November now? I mean from no from from November to March. So November of last year to March of this year. >> Um >> yes sir. >> You were? >> Yes I did. >> Okay. Any reason why were you doing all these refunding and refunding it back to your account? >> Cuz we have a total of almost $2,000 something dollars. >> No sir. It was parts that were purchased and never picked up. Most of them. >> Okay. So, part of that you decided on your own to refund it to your account. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> And I'm sorry. >> Okay. All right. Um, >> so all I need to say is of course you're going to be terminated today. Um, I need your keys. >> Yes, sir. >> Um, your last check will be here tomorrow, >> but you cannot accept that check until um, all of your uniforms are turned in because of course we paid for all those. >> Oh, I paid for these shirts. You paid for the shirts. Okay. So, well, if you paid for them, that's fine. I I remember that now that you did. >> And that was the store's decision regarding her actions. While law enforcement also made their own determination. >> So, you basically committed a felony. You will be arrested. You will be going to jail. Okay. Um, anything that you have here? Like, what kind of belongings do you have here? >> Just my personal belongings that I have with you. Here's what I'll do cuz I'm going to trespass you from the property as well. You can have someone come up and pick up your property um at a later date and they can come and Greg can help you get that. >> Yeah. So, she can come with us too like to pick up your belongings, but we have to be friends that you can't come on your own. >> Hey, I need you to come get me, please. I'm being arrested. Just please come get me. I'm I don't know. I need you to please just figure it out. I I don't know, babe. You want to put everything or whatever you want to put in your trunk. >> Are the keys in your purse? >> Um, my keys should be up on my counter. >> You have nothing in your pocket or anything like that? >> Okay. >> In the end, she was charged with felony organized fraud and theft. Dishonesty in the workplace may go unnoticed for a time, but repeated misconduct eventually exposes the truth and leads to serious legal consequences. Even worse, the law meant nothing to this unhinged woman. >> I don't give a [ __ ] about a little charge. How about that? >> Hey. Okay. Okay. And what's And you're sugar coating that I'm dumb. Let's be real. I graduated, sir. I'm not noing dummy. On March 30th, 2024, police were dispatched to Walmart after receiving a report of a repeat shoplifting suspect who had returned to commit similar thefts. Upon arrival, store employees recounted the day's events. And um she grabbed another card. She tried to pick similar items and walk out again. >> So, >> all right. So, what are we reporting? Everything. >> Yeah, everything. She tried she attempted to walk out twice with merchandise. >> Okay. >> So, she tried So, when I grabbed the There was two people at this store. I grabbed one of them to come into the office so I could speak to them >> and I'm like, "Yo, double check her receipt cuz I seen her in Subway like putting her stuff in a reusable shopping bag." >> Yeah. So I'm like, "Okay, whatever." So as he comes in, she tries to go around the other guy and he like puts his body and stops it. So I come out the office. I'm like, "Hey, do you have a receipt for any of the merchandise you paid for?" And she said, "Oh, I'm trying to look for it." Blah blah blah blah blah. I'm like, "Okay." So we're waiting. We're waiting. I ask her again. She starts getting hostile. And then I'm like, "So did you pay for your stuff or not?" And she goes, "Would you like me to pay for my stuff?" I'm like, "At this moment, no, I don't." So, I took her cart and she said, "I'm going to grab another cart and I'm going to shop again." I'm like, "Okay, that's that's fine." So, I I started watching her. She's frozen. So, I started watching her and um she started selecting the similar merchandise that was in the cart and she goes up to my door host and shows cuz some people have the receipt on the phone. So, they just show the phone like that. >> And so, that's what she did. and she just kept walking out >> and there was nothing on the front. >> There's nothing on the front. >> According to the employees, the woman had already filled her cart with items she intended to steal, fully aware she was being watched. At that moment, another officer approached her while she remained completely unaware. >> Excuse me, how you doing? >> Good. Um, so the loss prevention just called us. They said that you uh didn't pay for all your items. Do you have your receipt? >> Bro, I just showed him my receipt on my phone and my phone died. >> You just showed him the receipt on your phone? >> Yes, I just showed that >> and he let me out when my phone died. I said I paid for my receipt. I showed him the day. It's a mo It's a mobile uh Walmart thing. I showed him the day and I showed him my receipt. He said, "Okay, you can go." >> Okay, listen. We got >> I have It's literally right there. I'm not >> You still have your receipt on your phone. Okay. Can you bring IT UP? MY PHONE DIED. I LITERALLY JUST SHOWED HIM. I SHOWED HIM MY PHONE was on 2% in all. Like I just showed >> Here's the deal. So right now he's just the LPO is saying that there were some items that are possibly unpaid for. So we're just going to double check with the cameras >> at this point. Y'all just keep this [ __ ] bro. I'm not I'm not paid for it, right? So it's yours. >> Yes, I did. But >> we just have to confirm because listen, we listen. We haven't called saying the items I'm paid for. Okay. >> Okay. But if if I PAID ONLINE, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GO TO the to the cashier and all that? >> You're not letting me talk. There is a very good camera system here. >> I am. >> All right. >> As predicted, she claimed to have a receipt on her phone as an excuse, but of course, it had no effect. Tensions escalated as she deliberately tried to evade the officer's requests. >> Yeah. In the meantime, do you have an ID on it? >> NO, BUT you're you saying it's a camera and stuff, right? >> So, they're just going to double check it. >> Okay. But listen, my my stuff is on the phone. >> Okay. >> So, how you supposed to know if I how do you know if I was supposed to >> They probably have the receipt. >> They'll do. They'll have the receipt of your checkout. Okay. They're going to pretty much backtrack you through the store. Make sure everything >> at this point should stay there, bro. I'm not about to keep going. >> Damn it. Did you pay for it? >> Yes, I did. At this point, y'all can keep this, bro. Like, I'm not about to keep doing this [ __ ] my [ __ ] Like, >> listen. I'm trying to help you out here, but we got to call. >> Okay. So, why didn't why didn't y'all stop anybody else? Y'all just stop cuz we got a call. >> Okay. >> I imagine. What's the description? >> A black jacket with a lime green hood. And you're the only one here with that. >> Okay. All right. So, just hang tight. You want to go get the LPO? >> I'm not about to hand. I'm about to leave. >> You're not free to go. >> Yeah, you're not leaving. >> Don't touch. >> You're not leaving. >> You're not leaving. You want to be placed under arrest? >> You want to be placed under arrest? >> Why you touch me though? >> Stand here. Under arrest. >> Yes. >> Okay. You're under arrest. >> You're under arrest. You're under arrest. >> I'm a hope you know that. So, can you just ease up? Thank you. You get off. >> You're not fighting me. >> But what, my [ __ ] Like >> her deliberate evasion led to this outcome. But because she continued to resist, the officers had to act more forcefully. And it seemed she still was far from going quietly. >> I just told you I was a girl, my [ __ ] No. Who cares? Bro, get off me, CUZ. >> BRO, IF I CAN'T FEEL MY ARM, BUT THERE'S SOME STRETCH IN MY OTHER ARM. >> Give your other arm. >> No, cuz >> give your other arm and turn over. >> No. >> Yes. >> No. >> Get the one. I got the >> Yeah. Here. >> Yeah. Off you cause. >> I got this one. >> Well, I just said I can't film my arm. >> Turn around. >> No. >> Stop. Naked. Easy herself. >> No. The you talking about I match your description and all this off. >> Yo, stop kicking. No kick. Stop kicking. >> I can. >> That's fine. That's fine. We'll stay here. We'll stay here all day. >> Stop resisting. >> I can't breathe. >> I'm about to call my mom cuz y'all [ __ ] wild. >> You're not going anywhere. >> My older officer the officer, >> bro. Get the off people. >> Turn around. Make it easy. >> No, >> you're not going to get the spitting. >> You're going to get another charge. >> Oh, I can't feel my arm. >> Turn around. >> My hands. >> Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> I can't breathe. My >> Yes, you can. You're talking. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> What the [ __ ] is your knee in my seat for? >> Turn around. The woman became the center of attention for other bystanders, showing no shame as she continued to cause trouble, hurling insults at the officers. >> Stop smiling, cuz you stop. >> Can you stop? >> No. >> Okay. >> So, put my shoes on. >> Your shoes on? >> Duh. >> You want your shoes off? >> Put them on. >> You want to take out a my little charge? How about that? >> Turn around. >> Charge that. >> Turn around. >> The Just told you I was a girl. Just told you I was a girl. I proceeded to do >> told you I was a girl. Y'all still ain't not one girl. Cop. >> You can get off my stuff. >> All right. So, tell me what I'm >> Well, you just assaulted a cop by kicking him. Yep. >> I don't give a number one like that. >> Yeah. Multiple times. I'll take you multiple times. >> Yeah. >> You I don't give a [ __ ] >> 197. >> So, what am I arrested for? What's the second charge? >> Well, we're still investigating the shoplifting that you're detained for. >> What's the second? >> So, she's eluding. >> What's the second charge? >> What's her looting? >> Clearly, the woman was making everything more complicated. Her mouth never stopping. Yet, she refused to see it that way. The >> You didn't even give me a chance to talk. You just grabbed me. Let's be 100%. >> There was no talking. You had to stay. They didn't even give me a chance to talk. You talking about? It's no talking. You're not my father. I'mma talk when I want. You talking about going to tell you something. >> You better tell your You better tell your kids that it's a mine. >> You do that for >> the >> Oh [ __ ] Y'all finally got a girl. When I've been saying I was a girl when you had your knee on my back and when you was nearing me. I've been saying that. >> Come on. >> We're going to have to fix this. I ain't need you. So why you think I was kicking you? You dummy. You just said I was kicking you, right? >> On your legs. You sound dumb as hell. And can you Why you putting aside fix the cuffs for you? >> OH, NOW Y'ALL TRYING TO HELP ME. >> WELL, we couldn't get them over when you were resisting, could we? >> Oh, now y'all trying to help me. Okay. And And you're sugar coating that I'm dumb. Let's be real. I graduated, sir. I'm not no dummy. >> Wrong with me? Even while seated in the patrol car, she continued to show her defiance toward the officers, offering no explanation for her actions and persistently [music] criticizing their conduct. Sit back. Sit back. >> I caning sit back, my [ __ ] You really overdoing your job. >> I'm not overdoing my job. >> YOU ARE, MY [ __ ] CUZ I CAN SIT BACK MY SELF AND I'M GOING TO KEEP unra >> and I'm going to KEEP UNSTRAPPING IT. I don't really understand what you're saying. You asked if that was the report. That wasn't a report.
