So, you're going to either take everything out of your pockets and put it up here on >> Oh, no. I understand. I am going to pay for it. I mean, he'll be able to get the credit card in 20 minutes. She doesn't want to pay for it. >> Yeah, we're not going to do that. Put everything up on the selfch checkout. >> Where's Christina? >> Christina. >> Um, >> can you go in? >> The second suspect was believed to have fled outside, seemingly trying to avoid the situation. Even when confronted about it, she continued to deny any involvement and shifted all the blame onto the other woman. >> Come here. What are we doing? >> I'm waiting for my ride. I have my stuff in there. >> Uh-huh. You don't. So, you have nothing to do with the girls that are in there right now stealing anything? >> No, no, no, no. I swear to God, come in because they'll wait. They know. Come in. Please, please come back. >> We're going to wait. That's fine. We're going to walk over here. We're going to wait for me. I have nothing to do with that. Please. They know that I'm waiting for my ride. I was waiting for my friend to go back to my [snorts] >> Oh, just stay right here. Stay right here. I'm going to go in there. I will go in with you, please. >> I'm not going in yet, though. >> No, I know. But no, please. >> You can walk in. I'm not walking in with you right now. Is this girl? You know this girl? Do you have anything to do with this behind you? >> Uh, Miranda. >> She's going to be doing the exact same thing. Take everything out of your pocket. >> No, I wasn't involved in this. This wasn't me. She'll tell you this. >> I don't know. >> This follow her around. Watch out. I don't know what the hell I was doing. >> All right. What's Come here. >> No, cuz I didn't do anything. You're not talking about this. Please. I didn't do anything. >> You You can walk away all you want and then I can just charge you with obstruction. So, go ahead. Walk. Walk away. >> Cuz I'm trying to have a conversation. One. >> Two. >> But she just told you. >> Whether she said that or not, I still have to do an investigation. >> So, you're going to run me and I didn't do anything. >> I didn't say I was running you. Obviously, now that there's a reason why you don't want me to run you now. You're raising my suspicion even more. >> That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying I didn't do anything. >> Her urgency only made her appear more nervous, which further raised suspicion. The officer tried to return to the incident, but she continued doing the same thing. >> I wasn't with her. That's all I'm saying. Can you please walk with me? >> Walk with you where? >> Just talk to me. Like, you're being >> I'm not being an [ __ ] You tried to run into the store >> to to go get her. >> Okay. Again, all I ask you is for your name and you're >> Okay, there's no problem. But I was not with her. >> Okay, fine. What is your name? Christine. >> Christine, spell it. >> C H R I S T I N E. >> What's your last name, Christine? >> Pikmin. H I C K M A N. >> What's your birthday? >> June 3rd. >> 1991. >> Sorry about that. It has nothing to do with me, though. Thank you. >> Shortly after, the officer approached the employees to hear their side of the story. Clearly, their account was completely different. >> Doing [ __ ] too. >> This one right here. Um She came in here like an hour ago. She's just been going with cosmetics in her car. She has a friend with her, the one in [music] the jacket. >> Yeah. >> I looked at the cameras and she was just cosmetic section, grabbing cosmetics, like putting them on her person, >> but she didn't walk out with her. >> She walked out and like she was like eating stuff out there that she probably got from in here. The rappers were on the floor out there. But um as far as the cosmetics, I didn't see her walk out with them, but I saw her put them in her jacket. And I was up at the register when they was walking out, so I didn't really have a chance to >> at least on the cameras. >> Yeah. Can you go? That's fine. Go pull it out and see if you can find >> She's going to be doing the exact same thing you're doing. Take everything out of your pockets and put it on the shelf. Check out this. This >> right here. These were in my >> You want to follow her around and watch her dump all the stuff out of her pockets. >> These were in my pocket. Well, >> take everything out of your pockets and put it on the selfch checkout. If I have to tell you again, we're not going to have any more discussion. >> I am. >> Welcome. If you have your extra care card, everything out of your pockets. >> Pausing the theft investigation, the officer suddenly noticed a suspicious item on the other woman. Her panic only intensified, suggesting that this might have been the very thing she had been trying to hide from the beginning. >> Thank you. >> So, what's that pipe sitting out of your pocket? >> Items from the back. >> Oh, it's not? No, >> it's not a crack pipe. >> No, it's not. >> No. >> Okay, cool. Put your hands on your face. >> It's not a pipe. >> It is, though. I didn't walk around the crack pipe in my pocket. >> I didn't. I didn't. I didn't. Please. >> It's in your pipe. >> It's not a pipe. >> Why are you lying? Right. >> Come out. I'll show you. It's not a pipe. >> You don't need to show We're not going outside. >> I'm not You're not walking anywhere. >> Please. I'll show you. We're not walking anywhere. >> I'll show you. >> You don't have You're going to show me that crazy. >> You're showing me that this isn't a crack. That's your You're That's your story. >> No, I didn't do anything wrong. >> Tell That's your story? >> No, this is not a >> This isn't a crack. >> No, please. I didn't do anything wrong. >> Either lock her up or don't. >> So, turn really is going to come here items. >> Turn around. Put hands behind your back. >> Why? >> Because I said so. >> Why? I didn't do shoplifting. Turn around and put your hands behind your back. >> You're coming up with every excuse. >> I'm pregnant. I was pregnant. Now she's pregnant. >> I know. >> You understand that, right? >> Yes, sir. >> So, so don't think you didn't do anything. >> The first woman was investigated for shoplifting after being caught concealing merchandise in her purse and pockets. The second woman denied any involvement in the theft, but was ultimately arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Both women showed that denying involvement and shifting the blame to someone else could not erase what the officers and employees had observed. One faced [music] a theft investigation while the other ended up in trouble because of the suspicious item found on her. Next, let's move on to this chaos that didn't involve shoplifterss just to change the vibes a little. >> Who is there another sergeant? >> No, >> there's not. >> Can you step out of the vehicle, ma'am? >> Come on. >> Whoa. >> Come on. >> We're low. >> Get on the ground. >> Ow. Ow. Ow. On the 13th of October 2025, police were dispatched to a parking lot after receiving reports of a vehicle parked in a no parking zone with stolen registration tabs attached to plates that had expired in 2021. But behind that, even more suspicious signs remained. Here was what happened when police arrived at the scene. >> Sergeant, go forth. Can police be an audio and video recorded? You know, you were parked in a parking zone. It it well my friend went to go and get cool cuz he goes so >> Okay. >> And I live here apartments. So >> Okay. What did What unit do you live in? >> Okay. You know the tabs on there don't belong to this car either. >> No, it wasn't car. So no. >> It expired in 2021 and there's tabs that don't belong to it. >> Wait until it come back. >> You're in the driver's seat. I offer just in case I have to push it out the way. >> Okay. >> But you're in the driver's seat. >> So you're possessing the car, right? And it's your responsibility as a possessor. >> I don't know. Cuz the reason this possessor of it is the car and I'm afraid because I have to move. I have to push it. >> Okay. >> So push the car. >> What you got in that box there? >> Okay. >> What >> you said? Okay. That's a weird response to a box that's sitting right next to you. >> Can you step out here for me? >> Did I do something wrong? >> 422. Can I have a second, please? >> Can you step out of the car, please? >> Yeah. Did I do something wrong? >> You have a lighter in your hand. There's a box there. There's a jar right there. Um, consistent with possible drug paraphernalia. You have tabs not belonging to the car. Car is not registered to you. Uh, you're associated to a unit. Drugs are known to come to and from. >> Faced with the suspicions raised by police, the woman could not deny anything. And for refusing to get out of the car, she had her reason for it. >> You're refusing to step out. >> I'm saying, "What did I do wrong?" >> I just listed off all the things. And we have a signed trespass agreement here. >> Okay. >> Yo, what? >> Signed trespass agreement with the property. >> Yeah, but I live here. >> Okay. >> So, and I'm waiting for him to come back. >> Okay. I just listed about six reasons why I would like you to step out of the car and you didn't listen to one of them. >> I did listen to them, but I didn't break any laws by sitting here. >> Okay. You know what, Terry, your reasonable suspicion is it means it's not quite probable cause, but I have reasons to believe that crime is a foot. >> So, you think I'm committing a crime by sitting here? >> I believe there's possibly drug paraphernalia in this car. Yes. >> And where do you where where where would you believe that? >> Where? >> I'm not I'm not going to do this. So, are you willing to step out or no? >> I'm asking where what I where >> I've asked you to step out about five times. >> I have a lighter in my hand. I smoke cigarettes. I'm allowed to have a lighter. >> Okay. >> I'm allowed to have a lighter, right? I'm over 21. >> Sure. >> And I'm allowed to smoke cigarettes. Right. >> Sure. >> So, why wouldn't I have a lighter? >> Okay. Right. >> I didn't do anything. I'm waiting for him to come back. The car is overheating. I'm waiting to come back. Only can push it. So, okay. >> This car is not going anywhere. >> I'm here to push it. >> Okay. Well, has tabs not belonging to me. Step out of the car, please. This is number six time I've asked you. >> What does that mean? >> You're going to exit the car. Exit the car. Exit the car. >> Okay. He's telling me >> exit the car. The tabs on here don't belong to this car. >> No, this is Hold on. This >> You need to step out. We got to pull you out. You need to step out. >> Hold on. I'm >> You need to know what we're saying. Step out. >> Okay. Don't Don't >> We won't if you step out. >> Okay. Don't touch me, please. >> It could be said that beyond six orders for the woman to get out of the car. Police had also explained their suspicions many times, but she paid no attention and kept acting innocent to make things harder for officers. >> And what did I do wrong? >> I've already explained it all. >> What did you explain to me? I'm trying to get my shoe. Obviously, it's a foot. >> Okay. >> What did I do by sitting there? >> He's not telling me what I did and you guys put your hands on me. Is there a sergeant? >> Yeah, he's a sergeant. >> Who is? Okay. Is there another sergeant? >> No, >> there's not. Can you step out of the vehicle, ma'am? Listen, if you just complied, everything would be good. We would talk. >> Obviously, I'm pushing my shoe forward, so I got my shoe on. >> Ow. >> Okay. >> My shoe. >> How about this? If you step out, I will grab your shoe. Okay. >> I got >> You got it. Okay. Step out. >> Don't pull on me. >> I'm I'm trying to get you out of the car nicely, but you're not doing it. >> But you're not giving me a reason. >> Okay. Listen. If you don't step out, you're going to be under arrest for obstructing. Step out now. >> Okay. Obstruction of what? >> A bus. You need to do what we're telling you to do. >> Obstruction. What did I What am I obstructing you from? >> Cuz you're not stepping out of the car. You're not obeying a lawful command. Step out of the vehicle. >> I didn't do anything though. >> All right. Come on. >> Whoa. >> What the woman was doing was simply stalling the situation. But things did not go the way she wanted and police moved in without hesitation. >> Come on. You're under arrest. >> For what? >> On the ground. >> Ow. Ow. On the ground. On the ground. On the ground. >> Okay. Now you're under arrest. >> For what? >> I'm under arrest for what? >> Obstructing. I gave you a warning. >> Ow. You did not give me a warning. A warning about what? >> What did I do? I didn't do anything. >> I'm sitting in the car. I live here. >> Okay, that's fine. >> I live here. I live here. >> Stop. >> I live. >> Stop resisting. You're going to get a new charge, >> bro. What? You're saying I didn't I didn't do anything. >> This is legal as >> This is illegal. >> We have one in custody. Hey, can you start a suffering for use? This is illegal as this is so illegal. >> This is illegal. Ow. This is illegal. Okay. >> This is illegal. I'm not doing I didn't do anything. >> So why are you sitting there? I live here. >> Listen, ma'am. We would have talked to you, but you >> you have to listen to that. >> What do you mean? >> Okay. Stand up for your drink. >> There was nothing illegal here. If you were the suspect in this situation, refusing police orders could get you charged with obstruction. But it seemed the woman did not realize that. >> Wait, under arrest for what though? >> Obstructing what? >> You have to listen to the police when we give you a command. Okay, I know. It's cover. >> Really? >> Uh, yeah. I live here. I >> Yeah, this has nothing to do with you now. I had to do what you have on the car. >> I live here and I didn't actually >> Doesn't look like you have any pockets. I need a girl to search me. >> Okay. We don't have any females working. Okay. >> Okay. Well, can you get a female? >> Would you like me to call one from home? >> Yes, please. >> No, that's not going to happen. >> Okay. I don't give him permission to touch on me. >> Actually, we don't have one readily available. >> I don't give permission to touch on me. >> Do you have pockets even? >> I don't give permission to touch on me, though. >> Ma'am, that's not the way this works. >> That's not how this works. >> Yeah, if he's not a girl. >> Okay, listen. I'm going to lift your shirt to make sure you don't have a pocket. That's all I'm doing. What? >> I'm going >> I'm trying to see if you have a pocket, man. >> I have a pocket. I don't have a pocket. >> Ashley, hey, just focus on me for a second, okay? You should know who I am. I talk to you all the time. Okay. >> What my partner is trying to do right now. He just needs to make sure that you don't have anything on you that can't go going to jail with you. Okay. >> No, I don't. >> And right after that, the woman realized she could hardly avoid arrest. And she also admitted that she had illegal drugs on her. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, listen. I would want to work with you on that. Okay. She's saying she has fentinel in her bra. >> Yeah. She had a pipe in her shoe. >> I told you something was in my shoe. I didn't know what it was. >> Actually, it's okay. We're just saying that you had drug. Careful in your shoe. That's all I >> didn't know it was in my shoe. That's why I said, "Can you take my shoe out?" That's why I took my shoe off and you saw me take my shoe off cuz I didn't know it was in it. >> So, Ashley, do you have anything else hidden on you? I believe we're having a rent for me. No, >> that's fine. No, that's fine. It's on my period. >> We're going to take it for That's what you're worried about? >> Yeah. Well, yeah. The period. >> Okay. >> Hey, Ashley, while we're waiting, I read you your rights. You said you understood them. Is that correct? >> Do you want me to reread them before I ask any more questions? >> I No, it doesn't matter now. What am I in trouble for? >> We're under arrest for obstruction and now possession of control substance. Uh, and you also have a warrant out of Olympia. >> Olympia for work. But for what? >> Assault. >> Assault. >> But I was unaware of that. >> In the end, she was charged with obstructing a law enforcement officer and drug possession with intent to deliver. Actions have consequences, and refusing lawful orders while hiding the truth can quickly turn suspicion into serious criminal charges. On the 28th of February, 2026, police received a report about a man at Menard's who was hiding merchandise in his clothing and leaving without paying. When he saw an officer, he ran back inside the store, forcing police to chase after him. OKAY. NOW, >> I didn't steal nothing on the ground. >> I didn't steal nothing. >> Help me, SIR. >> GET ON THE GROUND. >> I DIDN'T DO NOTHING. Please help me. >> Give me your arm. >> Please help me. Please. Please. >> Step it up. >> Please. I didn't do nothing. What am I doing? >> What am I doing? >> Hey, what? >> Fold over now. >> What am I being arrested for? >> What am I being arrested for? >> I don't know. I hear you yelling. GIVE ME YOUR HAND. >> I got one. >> Gave me a rollover. >> The struggle became chaotic, but as it continued, he began changing his approach and portraying himself as the victim of the situation. >> I'm trying, BRO. OKAY. OKAY. My hand now. I can't breathe. >> I can't breathe. I can't breathe. >> Stop. >> I can't breathe. >> Oh my god. >> Oh my god. I need my inhaler. Please, somebody help. >> I got more. >> I CAN'T BREATHE. [screaming] OH MY GOD. HELP ME. >> Come on, guys. 10 seconds. I got to sit up. >> I can't breathe. >> Come on. >> Hold on. SHUT THE UP. >> Roll him on his side. >> Don't move. >> I'm not boss. >> Stay right there and shut the up. >> Immediately after successfully detaining him, officers began searching him. But an important detail raised their suspicion that another accomplice was waiting for him. >> Did they recover what he got? I mean, I didn't >> I know I haven't. >> Shut your left with this today. $57. >> I didn't steal that. >> Did you walk out the door? >> You only got it on camera. So, you're >> only took this one cuz you didn't have the one you normally take. >> I've never Hey, if you say another word, dude, I swear to God. I've had enough. Yep. Hold >> still, man. You should be able to get >> I'm trying to help. >> If you want to help, just stop moving. >> I am, sir. >> This man was wearing two pairs of pants. Could it be that he was using the second pair to hide the stolen merchandise? But officers actually found something else leading to even more charges. >> I was going to steal it. Of course, someone >> Huh? What's your last name? >> What do Viagra Viagra came out of that bag? >> How do you spell your last name? >> I promise. >> It might be Viagra. >> Hey, how do you spell your last name? >> No. My name is You're going to have to change your pack to heartland and walk outside and run. >> I need to see the doctor. >> My heart again. >> Oh, you're fine. Just fine. >> Oh my god. >> That was hard. >> I'm doing up. Stand up. >> You're not doing a very good job. >> My chest. >> Help me. I need an ambulance. >> Hey, please. We'll get you in English, but I want you to understand one thing. We're going to sit out there with you and we're going to wait >> until they release you and then you're going jail. >> Yes, sir. >> So, if you're actually having a medical emergency, we'll get you help. I want to tell you. >> Yeah, go ahead and tell me. >> His name is >> His name is >> I saw I just got >> Are you going to tell me or >> Why did you tackle me, man? hit me. >> The man couldn't read the name of the person he had called, so officers used what they found in his call history to question him. But soon, contradictions began to emerge in his story. >> That's my wife. >> Your wife is red. >> Yeah. >> Then who's Woody? >> That's my uncle. >> So Woody's your uncle now? >> Yes. I promise you >> that's who you who wanted you to steal that cuz they're waiting for you. >> Steal. >> I saw your text, dude. Your phone was open. >> Oh, I need to hang in there. In the end, the man was charged with retail theft, resisting a peace officer causing injury, aggravated battery to a police officer, and aggravated battery in a public place. Illinois law provides that resisting a peace officer that approximately causes injury can be a class 4 felony. A simple retail theft can become far more serious when someone chooses to resist arrest. Fighting officers and continuing to struggle can lead to additional charges and consequences far beyond the original theft. Yes. >> No, you're going to leave it. >> Turn around. Turn around. >> I feel violated, dog. I was trying to buy some popcorn and this >> The 29th of January, 2025, police were dispatched to a shopping store after receiving a report of a disturbance. The suspect was reportedly a man who had been refused service because he had previously been there and committed theft. When police arrived at the scene, the situation immediately turned into a confrontation. >> I refused the service. He went to the beer area. >> Was it? He walked out with two bears. You ever had a New Mexico driver's license? [snorts] >> Doesn't matter. >> What state do you have a driver's license? >> Doesn't matter, bro. When police went back to question the store employee, the story about the two cans of beer gradually became clearer. But the way the suspect handled the request for payment was what made the situation noteworthy through their account. >> I can't show you the cameras. Whenever he went, well, on the on the beer, we don't have that much cameras. Good. But he went straight up to the beer. He was like, are you selling beer? And I was like, well, yeah, but I thought they were unlocked. So anyways, uh I saw him with this two beers walking out. I have them over here. Um so I told him I I confront him and I was like, "Let me have him." And he was like, "Well, give it uh take it out and I was going to grab it." >> Where did he grab or where did he have them? >> In his pockets. >> Oh, he had his pockets. And I didn't know that the coolers that were closed. >> So I was like, I'm going to open them. So he start acting up. He was like, are you still here, Mom? And this and that. And I was like >> I was like, yeah, well, I came back from my days off. >> Yeah. >> And he was like, well, uh, I told him I was like, pay that. And he was like, "Well, what do you want me to do for you? You want me to kiss you?" And that's I was like, "No, I'm telling you to kiss." So he walked out. So I went outside with >> Oh, you went outside with them? >> Yeah. The suspect was believed to have been a woman who fled immediately afterward, but with the description they had been given, officers quickly found her in a nearby area. Here's what happened next. >> Wait right there. >> Police, we're just uh investigating a theft from Walmart. All right. So, at this time, you're just detained until we figure out what's going on. Okay. You match the description. They said a female with gray sweatpants, gray sweatshirt. Okay. So, the other officer is speaking with them. Do you know what I'm talking about? What happened? What may have happened? Are we going to speak? >> Okay. Do you have your ID on you? You have no ID. What's your name? >> Oh, my information. >> You have to give your information. She seemed to have used her Miranda right to remain silent as a way to refuse to cooperate. The officers ran her name through the system, but nothing came up. [music] They then asked for her second name, yet it also seemed far from credible. >> What's your other name? >> Diamond. >> What's the last name for Diamond? You spell it. >> Would that have the same date of birth? I would assume, >> but that one's not on any sort of I think he said he witnessed it. >> Oh, so I thought they said off to you. >> No, I think that can't find anything. >> No, I don't. >> Do you have an ID? Well, she said she used to have an ID, so >> Right. >> While waiting for the second name to be checked through the system, the officers took advantage of her growing cooperation to question her about the incident. She then began admitting everything. >> Did you take anything from Walmart? >> Yeah. Do you have it on you? Left at the door. [cheering] >> You're going to arrest me, so why don't you just arrest me? Take me to the county. >> Well, we try not to take people to the county. I don't know how they do it over in Wayne. Have you been arrested before? >> Yeah. A lot or >> same thing. Shot left. So it goes by your score, you know. Have you do you know that or now? >> What's that? >> So we're I mean we're going to do our best not to take your account. The woman didn't appear remorseful as she admitted to the theft. In reality though, she seemed to be trying to stay composed because moments after she was handcuffed and placed in the patrol car, tears of belated regret began to fall. All right. Do you place your hands on your back? Be placed under arrest. >> I'm sorry. >> This time you're placed under arrest for shoplifting. >> [snorts] >> taking 25 stop. [snorts] >> All good, thank you. Thank you. >> [snorts] >> In the end, the woman was charged with shoplifting. Don't mistake staying calm after getting caught for escaping the consequences. Taking responsibility before it's too late is always THE BETTER CHOICE. >> Y'ALL ARE HEALTHY. >> On the 4th of June 2026, police approached a woman in the Walmart parking lot after she caused a disturbance there. As [snorts] they got closer, she became increasingly agitated and claimed that the situation was caused by racial discrimination. You want me? >> Hey. HEY. >> YOU'RE BLACK. >> GO. >> YEAH. At that point, the officers were forced to take stronger action to stop her behavior. >> Put your hand back. I'm a queen and I get my blood taken. >> Yeah. Get a Southwest supervisor out here if you can. >> Yo, RAPING ME IN EVERY [ __ ] THING. I GOT BLOOD IN ME. >> YEAH, I'M 104. We're getting her in custody now. >> THEY'RE CHANGING MY SUIT. >> SOUTHWEST REQUEST YOUR presence being requested. >> I'm a queen that the Walmart >> and y'all are helping. Yes, you are. Y'ALL DOING THIS TO ME. >> LET ME GO. >> CUT IT OUT. >> I'm not doing nothing. >> 911. The more she spoke, the more incoherent her statements became, making her appear increasingly unstable. She showed no sense of guilt and instead portrayed herself as the victim. They were taking my blood AND THEN A [ __ ] WASN'T TAKING MY BABY WIFE. >> I love my life for taking my EVERY I'm not going to put me in a neighbor. >> You're with them. YOU'RE WITH THEM TRYING TO OVERTAKE my >> Yeah. >> It seemed like everything was finally going to quiet down, but that was not the case. She was like a walking radio. Every time the car door opened, her voice could be heard again. Show Young 40 and Young 41 out here as well. We're going to be on the northeast corner of the 2400 parking lot. We're making a roll in this way. I'm no light though. I want to go home. I want to go home. >> Hello. >> I WANT TO GO TO MY HOUSE. >> And the black is low. >> You said what? >> Yes, they are. >> Uh-huh. >> I want to go to my home. I'm let me go home. >> Am I going to do what? I'm sorry. You talking about the Jeep Grand Cherokee? >> Yeah. >> All right. Yeah. >> I don't want to be around. >> I need to kill me. I need the air. >> I need the air on. >> Did we go on medical? >> I got [ __ ] medical. >> NO, BECAUSE MEDICAL IS THE ONE THAT'S [ __ ] UP. THEY SLIP MY FEET AND EVERYTHING. >> CLEARLY, her attitude did not sound like someone genuinely asking for medical help. In reality, she appeared to be making things difficult without actually needing medical attention. as she continued making other claims instead. >> I'm gonna talk to you like this. I'll talk to you with the door open with respect. That's what I want to say. >> Oh, Jessica, you don't want to be down there kind of a a rally. >> I don't want to be. Like I said, I want to talk to you with respect. >> That's fine. I got you. >> So, you can open the door. >> Hey, who do you normally talk to? Cuz I know >> who I What do you mean? Who do I normally talk to? >> An officer. >> Yeah. No officer. >> Oh, I need it. No, I don't. No. No. Officer I don't I thought she ran into the bushes like that and >> I don't know. >> Yeah, I think that she ran to the >> I I remember cuz they tried to make they trying to get me to go to the hospital. >> But no, I don't need to go. I know where I'm at. No, because the hospital messed me up. Messed my feet up where I could not walk. >> In the end, the woman was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. This incident shows how refusing to cooperate and continuing to escalate the situation can quickly turn a disturbance into an arrest. Staying calm and following lawful instructions could have prevented the situation from getting worse. >> Nothing, bro. I wasing hungry, so I came to get some food, >> bro. But you got to the lady grabbed my >> She smacked me and that's why I I grabbed her purse. >> Okay, so >> I said, "Don't touch me." On the 7th of August 2024, police received a call from a Dollar Tree reporting a woman accused of shoplift. But the situation took a more serious turn when she was accused of striking an employee after being caught. Here's what happened when officers arrived at the scene. >> He's trying her to drop the bag of the merchand >> Oh my god. Sh this [ __ ] >> What are you doing? >> Nothing, bro. I was [ __ ] hungry, so I came to get some food, >> bro. But you got to >> And then the lady grabbed my [ __ ] >> and I have bruises on me, bro. Like >> just relax. So, we'll talk in a second. Okay. >> I'm going to >> You got anything on you? >> No. Nothing in your bra or anything? >> No, I don't have a bra. >> All right. >> The suspect remained calm and denied the allegations against her. But according to the store manager, what happened was completely different. >> Mhm. >> Okay. What happened? And you you're uh what are you? Store manager. >> Manager. >> Okay. >> I was coming. >> I was coming through my aisle because I'm working in the toy session. Yeah. >> And I was coming to my aisle again and I saw her putting the cat food inside her bag. >> Okay. >> And I said, "Miss, miss, what are you doing?" And she walked to aisle one. And that's when I told her, "Take everything out of your purse because all that belong to my school, >> right?" >> And she said, "No, let my purse go." I said, "No, give me my stuff and I let your purse go." >> So you grabbed her purse. You were trying to stop. stop her from stealing. Yeah. And the customer, the one she just woke out, I said to her, "Thank you. No, I'm out of here. I'm out of here." I said, "No, you're not going to leave." And she can tell you to you guys come here and steal. >> Sure. >> And then my employee stay with no hours because all these people stealing in here. >> Yeah. >> I told her and she said, "No, no." And that's when my other girl start calling you guys. >> Okay. >> And she's still refusing to give me the merchandise. I said, "Just take the stuff out of your purse and I'll let you go. Okay. >> She didn't want to do it. And then she tried to walk out and the lady stopped her again. Said, "No, you're not leaving. She's asking you to give her the merch and I give it to her." >> Okay. >> When you show up, >> she started taking stuff and throw it in top of the shelf when she see you guys got here. >> Okay. >> But it didn't stop there. The manager then made an allegation that the woman had assaulted her, taking the situation to a more serious level. She smacked me and that's why I I grabbed her purse. >> Okay. So >> I said, "Don't touch me." I said, "Don't touch me." >> Did she swatch you away or did she hit you? >> No, she hit me with her hand >> where >> when she did like this, she hit me here. >> Okay. >> And that's when I said, "Don't touch me." I said, "I just want my merchandise." >> Got it. >> That's it. Yeah. My other assistant saw everything when she was calling you. She was right there behind me. And then she dropped the the black tree frequent. >> Yeah, she dropped the black bag. >> DCSO has a case on her for like a $15,000 string all over the county. So, I'm going to call it Yeah, >> they were looking for her yesterday. >> Look at that. >> I've arrested her. Everybody's arrested her. >> What you guys arrived for yesterday? >> Yeah. And I'm telling you, >> no, no, I got it. >> Sure. >> Yeah, >> that was primary. That's what I was trying to tell. >> You good? >> I was right here and I I know who she is and she's connected with the so cases from yesterday. So, I'm going to call them and fill them in. So, >> the woman appeared to be running out of excuses and there was little anyone could say in her defense. Another witness then came forward and gave their own account of what they had seen. >> Tell me in your own words what you saw. >> Okay, so I was right here on back walls. >> You were here, right? Okay. I was stopping at the back to school stuff and I saw her come in with a big purse this way. She didn't know that Marisol just >> was behind her following her. Suspicious about it already. Saw her I saw her put another thing in her bag. She didn't know the lady was behind her and she caught her and she's trying to grab the bag from her and tell her to drop it, drop it and drop it cuz she won't. So there's like another lady. I guess she's in retired police officer trying to stand in front of her while the other ladies behind her. And then I kind of she's kind of like tugging on her purse and she shoved. Ma saw I didn't see her hit her but I saw her shove her. >> Okay. So she pushed her her hands. >> I saw her keep pushing me. >> Okay. >> So I went ahead and I was like, "You know what? I never called the police before. They got the wrong person down the street. I'm not false identifying somebody again." So I locked the door and I stood in front of the door to >> Well, I remember that. That was funny because the clothing description you gave was the exact same as the guy we stopped. So >> I was like I felt so bad. >> That's okay. It happened. We let him we let him go. That's all right. >> He hasn't been back since though. >> Oh well. All right. Anything else you can remember? >> No, that's all. >> All right. Thanks. >> She was caller. >> Back with the suspect. She appeared emotional and remorseful, but it seemed that her regret was more about being arrested than about what she had done. >> You okay? What's wrong, honey? But I don't want to go to jail. >> All right. Sit up for me so I can chat. Okay. >> Listen. Remember I talked to you last time? Said next time it's going to be jail. I know. >> I I I couldn't have been more clear. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> I know you're hungry. Okay. And if all you were stealing was food. >> Yeah. >> But makeup. I mean, all that stuff, you know. >> That's to make money. That was to make money. >> I know. >> So I can get something. >> You got to turn this thing around, Danielle, cuz every time you steal now, it's a felony. I told you that last time. >> Okay. Um, we got a detective that wants to talk to you about some other stuff. Are you willing to talk to him? >> What? >> Just some other cases around and um if you cooperate with him, it might help you on this and everything else you got going on. >> So, I don't want to waste his time. If if you're willing to talk to him, I'll tell him to come up to the station and see what we can do for you. >> I'm being arrested. >> You're under arrest. Yeah. >> You have a spider in your beard. >> Are you Is it good? >> It's right there. >> Thanks. >> In the end, the woman was arrested for retail theft and accused of striking a store employee during the incident. Stealing may seem like a simple offense, but resisting or using force can quickly make the situation more serious. Once confronted, cooperating and handling the situation calmly can prevent a bad decision from becoming an even bigger problem. [music] What do you think about this woman? I'm going to get your shoes for you right now. Okay. >> The woman was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer. Refusing to leave and putting your hands on an officer can quickly turn a simple misunderstanding into a serious legal problem. Cooperating and walking away could have prevented the situation from escalating. Is this yours? >> That's ours. >> Uh, yeah, that's ours. But she left that in the cart. >> On the 22nd of March, 2023, police were dispatched to a Walmart location after receiving a report of a theft that had taken place. What seemed like a case that would be easy to resolve quickly turned into a tense struggle. >> Hey, ma'am. Can you stop right there for me? >> Oh, sorry. Sorry. Yes. >> All right. >> Can you just go ahead and turn around for me? Am >> I in trouble? >> Yeah, you're in trouble. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> We'll talk about Stop. Stop. Stop. >> Stop. Get on the ground. GET ON THE GET ON THE GROUND. >> YES, SIR. YES, SIR. YES. >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK NOW. >> YES, SIR. YES, SIR. YES, SIR. YES, SIR. Don't hurt me. Please, please, I'm very sorry. >> Code one detained. >> I swear to God. Please don't move. Please don't hurt me. >> Okay. Please >> roll over onto the side towards me. >> Sit up on your butt. >> Yes, sir. Don't hurt me. >> Stand up. >> Yes, sir. You don't have to help me up. >> I am helping you up. >> Don't help it. >> I'm not. >> We're going to walk. Can you push that for me? >> Yes. I'm not left the store with anything. I have money. >> Concealing items within a store is stealing. >> No, it's not. >> Yes, it is. >> No, I I know I'm going to buy them. I've been in bags and I go out at the store, sir. You can wear stuff out of the store if you want to. >> Concealing items within a store is stealing. >> Am I allowed to take them or not? >> You've already stolen it. >> I haven't stolen anything. I'm not left, though. I understand that. I have money. I'm not stoing anything. >> Right now, you're under arrest for resisting and ling. >> I didn't mean to resist you. I was just I was scared of you. >> When you walk away from me, it's actively resisting. Okay. >> I did not know that. Please don't do that to me. I did not know. They then began checking and confirming the suspect's merchandise, but the employees statement showed that the situation was far from simple. >> Still has a tag on it. >> Yep. And fresh spray paint all over it. >> She spray painted it in the store. >> Yes. Inside the aisle and then put That's why I grabbed these so I knew which one she did cuz I was right behind her when she was doing it. >> Did the cameras pick any of that up? >> Unfortunately, that aisle. No. >> Okay. >> Unfortunately. But I have her grabbing the backpack and then or the purse thing and the clothing and going from apparel into the back bathroom. >> Can you And did she have other items on her hand when she went back there? >> Uh it was some clothing. It was like a pink shirt. Uh I want to say it was a black shirt or something like that. >> Okay. Did she throw this down when you guys started following her? >> No, she threw it into the uh car. >> Oh, this is the one she ditched. >> Yeah, that's the one she ditched in the back bathroom. >> In the bathroom. Okay. >> Yeah. Holy [ __ ] There's a lot more in there than I thought. That might be some stuff. >> Did you check the bathroom for tags already? >> Let me call Janette. >> Go ahead. >> No, it's got like >> tons of money on cash. I'd like to purchase. >> She says she wants to purchase the items by name. >> Just so you know, >> you're under arrest for resisting already. Anyway, >> okay. Well, I'm not shut the door on you yet. >> Okay. Slide slide in. I'll have to go to the hospital. You get out here for the door. The woman claimed that she had money and could simply buy the items to resolve the situation. But when the merchandise was checked again, the damage she had caused made that explanation seem unreasonable. >> That one I believe is going to be hers because it's got like makeup and crap on it. >> Yeah, it looks kind of old. This stuff, this stuff's got tags. T75 >> Goodwill. >> Goodwill. Okay, so >> yeah, >> there was a pink shirt she had. I know. I saw the pink shirt >> and she had something else in her arm. She went in the bathroom. >> Well, this one's got a ripped tag on it. >> Okay. So, overnight team lead is looking. >> Oh, it doesn't have the actual tag. It just has the little medium. >> It might be Goodwill, too, then. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I'm going to say this one's probably Goodwill cuz typically ours will have like a UPC on it. >> This looks like this stuff's Looks like she took the bag. She wanted the bag. >> Yeah. >> Right now, this stuff looks like it's all hers. Yep. >> There it is. There you go. There's the pink shirt. >> There it is. That's what I saw. >> And there's the belt. >> Yep. That's going to be our >> This is a set. >> These look like her shoes. >> Yep. I never noticed that she had new shoes on. >> I have no idea. >> This yours? >> I can scan it and see. >> I'm not seeing a barcode label on it. >> Oh, there's no barcode. No, it's not ours. >> Okay. Um, this bandana. I don't think that's your guys's. >> I've never seen that being damaged. >> That's a fairly used brush. >> Still got the packing in it. >> So, as far as the bag goes, uh, we call this vandalism. >> Yep. >> These items will go for stealing. Do you want to come look at the shoes she's wearing or do you have that? >> That's not going to be ours. I don't think that's ours. >> I don't think that's ours. >> It's a little torn up. >> Yeah, that looks really be that's yours. And this stuff. Okay. So, that's what she was grabbing cuz I was backtracking her while she was in the back bathroom. So, I was like, "Okay, she went in there and I see the tags on everything." So, I was backtracking her still. >> Well, she's putting it in Walmart bags. We'll go ahead and list the food items. >> Returning to the woman, she began denying that she had resisted earlier. And she had no hesitation in giving an explanation that was even harder to believe. >> No, sir. I did not know that you were an officer. I didn't go outside. All I see was your face. >> You didn't know I was an officer? >> No. And then you grabbed at me and moved and then when I was seen that you were a cop and you grabbed the hold on me, I stopped and just submitted to you. >> You didn't stop. You pulled away from me. >> I didn't know you were a cop until I submitted to you. I'm puke and [ __ ] My jew so bad. >> You sell those? >> No. Okay. Uh, I need to get her bag out of your office. Yes. >> Oh, she trespassed, too. I would love it if she were trespassed, too. >> She's not trespassed, but that's her. It's her second event. >> She's stolen here before. >> Not our store, but uh Seventh Street. Okay. Do you have like a case number associated with that picture from the police department? >> Uh that I don't know cuz this is from two years ago. >> Was she stealing there? >> Yeah. They got $49 back and didn't recover $21. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I don't want to touch that either. >> I ain't touched it. >> Can't say I don't blame you. >> Yeah. No, it's just that one event. >> Do you need a photo for her for trespassing? >> Well, I'm going to trespass her tonight because second event now. >> I hear you. All right. I'm going to get this back out to my car. me to wait with her there for a minute so you can talk to her? >> Yeah. >> No, no, no. You You're now trespassed. You weren't trespassing a minute ago, but if you come back, you will be. Okay. >> You can't go back in there. >> Okay. >> My tubers. >> Oh my god. >> Yeah. Can you see my >> I'll take a picture of you in just >> Thank you guys. >> Thank you. Your your charges are misdemeanor stealing, vandalism, and resisting. >> I don't want to buy. I didn't mean resisting. All I see was your black face, your your badge, or nothing could shine. >> You stopped and looked at me. Okay. >> I didn't know you were a cop. She said JPD. >> I need you to show me where the tooth. >> She suddenly began playing the victim with the officers, making the situation more complicated. Police eventually moved her handcuffs to the front, but that certainly could not change the outcome. I'm a woman. >> Shut the door. >> I have to shut the door. I can't drive you down there with the door open. >> And the only other option is I call the jail van out here and they put you in a restraint wrap. >> You know what the wrap is? Don't torture me. >> I don't want to torture you. It's not torture. It's It's a lawful way of restraint. So if you if you won't let me drive you in this car, the only option is in the jail van in a restraint chair or a restraint wrap. And I don't want to do that to you. Okay? >> Don't be like, "Right, >> okay. I don't want to do any of that to you." Okay? I'm going to close the door, then I'll roll the window down. >> You Oh, God. I get you. >> In the end, Tammy was charged with misdemeanor stealing, vandalism, and resisting arrest. The lesson: denying what happened does not make the evidence disappear. When store employees and surveillance evidence reveal what actually happened, making excuses or resisting can [music] only make the situation worse. Next, the woman acted as if she had the authority to tell the officers how to do their job and expected them to follow her demands. >> I just returned some stuff. Okay. Can you step over here with us? Why >> here? Let me Okay, let me go over here. >> I am. Can you tell him to let me go? >> You should have seen how he did me and I'm pregnant. Look at him grabbing me. Get off of me. >> On the 15th of January 2025, officers responded to a reported shoplifting incident at Kohl's. The suspect was believed to be a woman dressed in black who had allegedly attempted to leave the store. Officers quickly caught up with her and stopped her. Here's what happened next. >> Hey hun, >> can you come here for a second? >> Uh there's there may be some confusion and some issues inside. >> What happened? >> Do you have anything in your bag you should not? >> No, I just returned some stuff. >> Okay. Can you step over here with us? >> Why? >> There. Here, let me Okay, let me go over here cuz I'm going to let you see. >> Well, we're not going to get in the car. >> I'm not getting in the car. I'm going to let you see that there's nothing in there >> in your bag. >> Yeah. >> Okay. You're not getting in. >> I'm not getting in. >> You're not getting in the car? >> You're fighting me. Let me show you. >> I'm not fighting you. >> Okay. I'm going to show you. I'm going to show you what's in my bag >> right now. >> Okay. Can I show you? Yes or no? Okay. Scaggs, let me show you. I'm going to set the bag down and show you. >> Yeah. We're not doing that. Okay. I'm not going in there. >> Why are you trying to detain me and I'm not? There's nothing in my bag. >> Stop. Stop. >> She immediately and aggressively denied the allegation, only making herself appear even more suspicious. She even resorted to playing the race card, further escalating an already tense situation. >> Jeez, you made that harder than >> No, I don't. >> Because I wouldn't have did this if I was white. >> What are you talking about? It >> has nothing to DO WITH COLOR. >> WELL, COME SHOW ME. LET ME GO. >> YOU HAVE A RECEIPT FOR THE >> NO. AND I I came in to do my return. The black girl at the thing. Can y'all go in there? >> We will. >> We're trying to do We're trying to figure THIS OUT AND YOU'RE FIGHTING US. >> NO, you're not. >> That's what we do. THAT'S OUR >> NO, YOU'RE NOT. SO, WHY ARE YOU TAKING MY BACK? >> Where the are you taking? LOOK HOW YOU DOING. >> Now you are. YOU ARE NOW UNDER ARREST. YOU'RE UNDER arrest when YOU START RESISTING. >> NO, I DIDN'T. It's against the law. >> Yes, it is. Y'all didn't even mirrorize me. >> We don't have to with that. >> Right. So you NEED TO YOU'RE PUTTING ME IN back of the car. No. Take me in the store THEN SO I CAN GO FACE to face with whatever that they called you for. >> WELL, MAN. >> NO. YES, THEY DO. >> As you can see, simply to avoid being placed in the patrol car. The woman stiffened her body and actively resisted the officers. By doing so, she only added another charge against herself. Yet, she seemed to believe she had every right to act that way. >> Are you kidding me? You in the back seat. >> Have a seat. >> I'm in the back seat. Have a seat. >> From the back seat. >> And they recording it right now. I hope it is recorded. >> It's all recorded, >> right? SO GIVE ME A A SERGEANT out here. >> We will. >> Now she don't. That's my bag. And you saying, "Let me search your bag." I came in with that bag. I went to the damn customer service desk, right? And then I asked the girl if Sephora. So what the belongs to them in that bag? If this was not that big of a deal, why are you putting up such a fight? >> Because I'm TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY DID THEY >> WHY ARE YOU PUTTING UP SUCH A FIGHT? >> BECAUSE I HAD MY RIGHTS, TOO. >> You're right. And >> what's my right? >> You lost your right when you lost your right when you tried GETTING IN THE CAR. >> I DID NOT RESPOND. I DID NOT GET IN THE CAR. YOU LET ME WALK TO MY CAR. I SAID, "I'LL show you." You said, "Okay." >> That's what you said on camera. Why you got your jacket covering it up? >> It's not covered up. >> Okay. >> Mine's not cover. >> I tell you what, when you're going to get a sergeant. >> Yeah, they're coming. They're coming. No, they're right there. >> No, that's not the sergeant. >> No. Who is it then? >> This other officer. >> Can y'all please take over? >> I know y'all all work together, BUT THEY MY RIGHTS HAVE BEEN VIOLATED. >> I came in with that bag and he going to tell me that they called you to get >> Yes, please. Smith, I don't want to I want to talk to you. Please, >> you got to relax. >> I am. Can you tell him to let me go? >> You should have seen how he did me and I'm pregnant. Look at him grabbing me. Get off of me. >> He's going to take you right now. Come on. You got another car. >> The officers did their best to calm her down. And for a brief moment, it looked like she was finally ready to cooperate, but she wasn't. Instead, she immediately cast herself as the victim, dragging out the process of being placed into the patrol car. >> Have a seat in the car. >> Can I please know, I'm pregnant. He already just slammed me and did all this. I >> I didn't slam you, but >> No, he did. But can you call? >> If you're pregnant, then do your baby right. Have a >> right. Can you call for a medical assistance? >> Yeah. Can I get a sergeant? >> Yeah, you'll get a sergeant. >> How long? >> I don't know. Sit in THE CAR, PLEASE. >> WHY do I have to sit in the car if I'm not going nowhere? Why can't I go in the store? >> I'm not saying that. But look at y'all. It's four men against one woman. And I'm trying to figure out what went in my bag that y'all claimed that went in my bag. >> Well, I didn't claim anything. >> Yes, he did. When he came up on the scene, HE SAID, "OH, MA'AM, just tell us. Do you have anything that belongs to that store?" Everything I have that I came in with. RIGHT. SO, WHO called the police and said that I had something in my bag? >> I'M GUESSING STORE DID, >> RIGHT? WHY? BECAUSE I'M AFRICANAMEAN. [laughter] >> I don't know. We don't play that game. LET'S NOT GO THERE, >> MAN. I'M THE ONLY >> I'm the only one that that came out that store that's getting the police called on. >> Are you kidding me right now? Cuz I can prove. >> Okay. If you give me a point to prove TO YOU THAT I'M NOT lying >> for me to put this in your car. >> No. Can you give me a point to prove to you yes or no? >> Just Yes or no? It's not. WHAT'S ON CAMERA? >> ALL OF IT. >> ME PUTTING STUFF IN MY BAG. >> YOU WALKED OUT THE STORE WITHOUT? >> NO, I DIDN'T. Oh my god. ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW? >> That was my scaggs. Can you please give me a chance to prove this? Camera's everywhere. WHEN I CAME in there, I didn't return. >> Who told you? >> And I didn't. No, I'm not. No, I'm not. He got my stuff. >> Before leaving, the officers gave her one more chance to admit what she had done. But to their disappointment, she continued to deny everything, even after they reminded her that the surveillance cameras had captured the entire incident. >> I was literally in the store. Watch cameras. >> No, you went through my wreck. Yes. And I was in there 2 minutes. >> That's what cameras >> 2 minutes and I stole some. >> And your chance to prove it in court. >> 2 minutes and I stole some. So, how did I steal something that quick? >> You don't want to listen to anything we say. So, it doesn't matter. >> I'm sure he's lying. We're >> He is lying. He is lying. Listen to me. Okay, I'm done talking. Can you move my hair out of my mouth, please? >> He just said because you're pregnant. >> Yeah. No, I didn't say cuz I was pregnant. Cuz he did it. Are you a sergeant? Sergeant, >> step out of the car for me, please. Turn around. Face his car. Get a little uncomfortable at first. I'm going to put this horse on you. >> So, where am I going? >> The county >> to the jail. >> They are they are >> So, what was the point? >> And then with I can't go in court or nothing today. It's over with. The time is over. >> Well, I don't know. There's nothing we can do about this. You got to go. >> I know this part, but without >> You got to sit down and I and I'll have them walk away after you, sir. >> Okay. >> That red strap scrape in there, that scrap in there, that's your seat belt. That's the one I use when I do a video visit to the county cuz I can't go in a penal institution. So I can't >> If you're lying about your name again. >> That's not my name. I never told you. >> What is What is your >> that ID? I'm sorry. >> What is your last name? >> Okay. I just literally if you look it up. >> Okay. Give me a minute. >> Yeah. I I still think that's >> in the end, Dhoni was charged with retail theft and resisting arrest. When clear evidence already exists, pride and defiance cannot change the facts. They only turn a single mistake into a chain of avoidable consequences. >> No, I don't. >> No, I don't. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Stop, sir. Sir, stop. >> No problem. >> Sir, medic. >> All right. 85. >> On the 22nd of October 2024, officers approached a woman at Lowe's after suspecting she was connected to a vehicle similar to one involved in a previous theft at Dollar General. But the officers never expected the situation to quickly turn chaotic. >> Everybody stop. >> What's wrong? >> You come here. Just stand right here for one second. >> Okay. >> What's wrong, though? >> Come here. >> Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> What'd he do? >> Palms together. >> What did he do, sir? Sir, what did he do? >> I'll tell you in just a second. >> I actually didn't do nothing. >> Oh my god. >> My daughter, bro. >> All right, you wait right there. Stay right there. Hello. >> She need to be detained. The woman was believed to have swallowed drugs, which appeared to have caused her condition, while her family member was informed about everything that had happened. However, it seemed he was not surprised by any of it. >> What's going on? >> Uh, are you guys looking for Scott? >> This vehicle, similar vehicle just committed a theft at Dollar General. Okay. >> At Dollar General >> in Hillyard. Yes. Okay. It might not be this vehicle, >> but I was aware that she has a warrant for arrest cuz this vehicle has been on our hit our >> This is my grandmother's vehicle. >> Yes. Okay, >> I understand. >> But uh >> him it's not him you're looking for it. >> And the other officer that was investigating that just got here and said that it's not going to be him. So he will be let go. Okay. >> I know who you're looking for. >> Okay. Did somebody just commit a theft at >> No. >> Dollar General. Then that's not who I'm looking for then. Another man who identified himself as her husband was at the scene and appeared concerned, but officers stopped him from getting too close because they feared he might interfere. >> That's my wife. >> Oh, that's your wife. >> That's my wife. >> All right. So, we got Yeah, we got medics coming right now. Okay. >> It's okay. I just want to know she's okay. That's all >> right now. We're We're getting medics here. Okay. We'll get it all checked. >> Can we move around where I can see her? >> We can go walk this way. You need to stay away from her. >> Yes. As long as she can see me. >> Okay. >> As long as she can see me. >> Did she fall to the ground or anything? >> I took her down and she stood up when she was fighting the whole time until we got cuffs on her. >> Meanwhile, the male suspect was also approached [music] and he provided additional information about the woman. >> So, I'm just here with my daughter. Everything's good over here. >> What the hell happened here? >> Um, close to God. >> So, it sounds like probably what she did, she probably paid for these two, scanned and paid and then pushed these out. But you need something. >> In the end, Tiffany Piles was booked on an outstanding warrant and additionally charged with theft from Lowe's. The male detainee was released at the scene and was not charged in the Dollar General theft. A situation can escalate quickly when a person resists an officer's attempts to detain them. Cooperating with officers and handling the situation calmly can prevent a tense encounter from becoming even more complicated. Huh? I'm cuffed up. What can I do? I got a gunshot wound right here. Look at this. What can I do? >> On the 16th of July 2024, police received a report from a Metro market about a 29 years old woman named Alashia. She had filled her shopping cart with merchandise. But things were far from simple when she paid for only a small portion of it. When a loss prevention officer tried to stop her and hold on to the cart, she struggled. ran into the parking garage, loaded the stolen groceries into her Ford Fusion, and fled the scene. Can you have the daughter go? >> The man clung tightly to his loved one, ignoring repeated orders to place her down and move toward officers, almost as if she were a shield protecting him. As [clears throat] soon as they got close enough, officers quickly stepped in to ensure her safety. >> Can she be sitting next to me? >> No. No. Just let her down. >> If I let her go, she'll fall. Daddy's right here. >> Daddy right here. >> You don't know. >> Her mom come. >> I got straight. >> I know. I know. I know. >> All I got from my gun. I got >> Oh my god. >> All I did was come pick a retough and crash with you. I know. >> Can you at least bring it here? >> Okay. All I did was pick somebody up. I didn't go in the store. >> Okay. Let me search you. You don't have anything on me, do you? >> No. Look at me. Nothing. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. >> Nothing, bro. Nothing. >> This is chaos for all of us. All right. We don't want to be separating kids from parents. That's your daughter. >> Right here. Yes. >> That's all I have. >> We'll have her say We'll have her talk to you here in a minute. Okay. We still got to talk to her, too. She's not listening to us. All right. >> Can Philly be right next to me? Cuz Philly sitting next to me, so she won't be so scared. I'm cuffed up. What can I do? I got a gunshot wound right here. Look at this, bro. What can I do? I can't do nothing. I can't run nothing. >> She's sitting in the car. We still We got to get her back here. >> I know y'all going to take me from her, but it's like, can I at least say my goodbyes? I'm going to be >> Yes. Well, bring her back over here, John. >> We still got one person here that we got to get. >> Look how she's scared, bro. >> Shortly afterward, the woman finally emerged. And at that point, everything seemed certain. Officers placed her in handcuffs while she shamelessly begged for sympathy. >> Hands up. Turn face the other way behind your back. >> I know you weren't driving, but you were involved in a retail theft at Metro Market and you crashed into an innocent person. >> Okay, come back. >> I didn't drive. >> Are you under the influence of anything? >> I was never driving. I promise you I wasn't driving. I asked him to stop. >> Hey, White Fish Bay Squad. I asked him to stop. >> It's unlocked. >> I asked him to stop. I said, "Just stop." He said, "No, I can't get in trouble with the police." >> Okay. Okay. Okay. You don't have anything on you? >> No. >> Okay. Okay. All right. There's nothing. Okay. All right. You going to get searched again? >> I'm only 18. >> Okay. >> Who is Who is John to? >> I asked him to the friend. I just asked him to stop me. >> Whose child is that? >> He would stop. >> Is that John's kid? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Are do you have any relationship to the child? >> No. >> Okay. Can you step up there for me? >> Whose car is that? >> It's whose >> Whose car is it? John's. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. >> I'm only 18. >> Okay. Okay. >> I know you're scared. Okay. >> You're going to be okay, though. All right. You're going to be fine. I know no one wants a gun pointed out. I don't even know who you are. Do you have any warrants? Do you have anything outstanding? Okay. Okay. >> And that's John's car. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. >> Shortly afterward, an officer arrived at the store and began gathering more details about the suspect's actions through a statement from the store employee. >> Well, what did you see? What did they take? What happened? >> Okay. So, as I was checking out on the register, >> I noticed Thank you. I noticed her come upstairs and she went around towards the pharmacy. Now, she already had stuff in her car already. >> Mhm. >> Now, I didn't see the bags, but then when I got done with all the people by the liquor register, I told my employee, "Can you take the money out the register?" She said, "Yes, so I can go watch her." >> Then when I seen her, she had stuff in the bags already. >> Okay. What kind of what kind of bags? >> Uh, Metro bag. >> So then I asked her for a receipt. I even cuz she like, "Oh, well, let me show you my receipt. >> I'm just going to continue on checking." I already know she didn't bag. I just want to At the end of the night, I'm just trying to that's all I'm trying to do. >> Okay? >> And so I told her, "Just show me your receipt and you can leave. I don't want to have to call the police. I don't want have to go through this whole process. Just show me the receipt or just give me the stuff back." So I'm like, "Now she get to yelling and stuff like that." Now she did check out some food or whatever on her food stamp card. Door's already locked. She unlocked the door. >> Mhm. >> Upstairs. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> So now that's when I go out after I grab the cart. Nothing touched her. Nothing grabbed her. I grabbed the cart. She pit me up against the thing about my hurt. Feel a little hurt, but whatever. >> Mhm. Took off running down the um down a parking structure. Complete full circle. Some guy in a red car uh the quarant said, >> picked her up. >> Okay. >> They stopped by front of mom's pizza that way. >> Mhm. >> They loaded the stuff up. >> Okay. So, did did she get away with the cart? >> Yes. The woman was charged with retail theft, resisting an officer, and two outstanding warrants. And Jon was charged with fleeing and eluding, hit and run of an attended vehicle, retail theft as party to a crime, and neglecting a child. A parents responsibility is to protect a child, not place them in the middle of danger. What started as a theft quickly escalated into a police confrontation, leaving an innocent child exposed to fear and chaos that never should have happened. >> Curiosity and things of that nature were getting stuck in the car. What do you mean? >> What? What is it? I'm confused. So, when he said that it's a stack of checks, and what do you mean? What are they doing with it? >> On the 31st of October 2023, police repossessed a Nissan Juke after it was linked to an expired insurance policy. But things quickly got worse when officers found a gun inside the vehicle along with suspicious black bags. When approached, the driver still had no idea what the officers had discovered. >> So, that was your 2015 Eugene. All right. Do you have your ID on you? >> 2124 to Remno 3. She's still in the business. Trying to find some place a little more. >> Yeah. Well, just some oddities and curiosities and things of that nature where stuff. >> Once they were settled in the interview room, the officer directly asked about the presence of the gun. >> All right. Um, whose gun or whose backpack was it that was in your car with that rifle? >> Well, technically I'm not sure whose it is cuz I'm not the only one that drove the car. >> Okay. >> I haven't drove the car >> since what's today? Sunday when I got off work. >> Okay. >> In the house. >> So, the kids typically drive the car. They may have had something. >> Um, >> they said something wrong with the >> some stuff in there that kind of piqued my interest. Some oddities and things of that nature. So, that's why got to ask it. >> So, there was a gun in the car. >> Okay. >> A loaded AR. >> But is it legal? >> It's not stolen. Oh, well, >> but I can't give it to you because you didn't know about it because you already told me that. >> Okay. >> So, but I'm confused with the gun because I thought the you can have in Missouri. >> You can't >> they found that they found some bottles of prescription stuff which are still trying to I'm still in the beginning part of figuring out what the heck's going on. prescription. >> I'm going to leave it at that. >> From the gun to the suspicious bottles of medication found inside the vehicle. That wasn't all officers discovered. They also found a large stack of checks bearing different people's names. Now, let's see how she tried to explain that. >> And I'm not joking. It's a stack this big of checks with other people's names on it. >> Okay. >> Uh I'm seizing all that stuff. >> Okay. I am very very curious and would like to find out and know who um was the one yelling about the items in the car and things like that when cuz they called off of your phone number. I called for my phone. Okay. And I was yelling about getting my things out the car. Okay. >> Because I was looking for my um work ID as well as my I have a um tag that hangs in the car >> when I go to work because it has to be hang hung on the uh >> the rearview mirror in order for me to park where I'm supposed to park. So yes, I needed my things out of the car. >> Okay. So yeah, like I said, so that's where when I say I've got concerns and things I need to look into further, I'll be honest with you, that's where I'm at. >> Okay. >> Um, so it is I do need to go through and we're going to wind up investigating it further. >> Okay. >> U, it's a thing where items are found in St. Charles County or St. city. But you live in cuz they seized car or repo the car brought back here, >> right? >> Uh but you live in what? For >> no. >> Oh, you live in Illinois. >> So yeah, I don't even know if you know what I mean. I I got to figure out where these checks were stolen from. Okay. >> Things like that. >> Okay. >> Cuz there's no way you got 200 different people's names on a check and something's not screwing. I mean, you can verify my dog. We don't touch. We can't touch them at all. So, >> all right. >> The female driver kept trying to shift the blame onto the other people who had used the car, prompting officers to dig deeper and find out who they were. >> How many different people drive this car? >> Uh, my oldest daughter and sometimes my stepsons may drive it, my friends. >> 73. I'll be out on high. >> Okay. I don't know if they may let her, but I know that I had recently gotten a ticket and had to go to court and the charges and I was just like it wasn't >> 2123 offices like >> go ahead >> the charges that what they were saying happened. He said >> 2123 >> actually I shouldn't let people drive the car but it was around the time that I was at work. And here's what I'm >> and what I'm going to tell you is what I'm going to do, right? I'm not necessarily looking for them. I mean, I'm going to put them in my computer and I'm going to do a links analysis and look to see who they're hanging out with. >> Okay. >> I'm trying to figure out who's doing the check stuff. The check stuff is the baby for me. Okay. >> What What is it? I'm confused. So, when he said that it's a stack of checks and what do you mean? What are they doing with the checks? >> Well, that's still what I'm trying to figure out. Oh, >> I >> So, you really don't know. >> I haven't left here yet. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, I haven't had a chance to go start trying to contact the people whose checks they are. >> Okay. >> Find out if there's been any fraudulent checks written based off of those bank accounts. I haven't been able to figure any of this out yet. >> Okay. >> You you come in kind of put the cart before the horse. >> You know what I [music] mean? >> Clearly, the details found inside the car showed that this was no coincidence. The investigation quickly revealed 89 stolen checks linked to dozens of victims [music] with more than $369,000 in losses. To make matters worse, the officer also confirmed that the driver, Bonita D. Randall, had an active felony warrant. >> It's a felony warrant right now. >> Me? >> Yeah. >> What I'm going to tell you, so here's I had to confirm it, right? So, if they say they're going to drive out here, which they will drive to here, I'm not putting handcuffs on you and I'm not doing any of that. All right? But if they're willing to drive here, then you're going to have to stay with me for a little bit until I get here. >> What if they have a letter from me for >> yet? You have to ask the PA about their investigation. >> It is. >> I don't either. So anyway, so I you being open and honest with you, okay? So, but that's I'm just waiting right now for them to say yes or no. >> In the end, Bonita D. Randall was charged with theft of mail by a postal service employee. Theft involving someone's position of trust can turn a routine situation into a federal case, especially when the evidence directly contradicts repeated denials. >> Google me, you'll see. I made up movies. >> I I don't It's not a felony. >> He's already got cancer and anxious. I'm on medication. I can't help him. He's got stage four cancer. That's why I'm losing my >> On the 3rd of November 2025, police received a call from Walmart about a woman they had detained after she attempted to leave with $90 worth of pharmacy merchandise. But what was even stranger was that she admitted what she had done, while her attitude toward the officers was the real problem. >> Call the police. >> I wish you wouldn't have called the police. >> You have the right. I >> I offered to pay for it. So I got this uh woman conceive merchandise on the floor over the uh uh pharmacy area. Then I continue um watching her through the floor until she got to the s area where she paid for some stuff. She paid for that but she didn't pay for this. >> Okay. >> Um so she passed the last bonus without paying for the mission. I detained her and when I brought her here she said that she wanted to pay for this. >> Okay. Okay. I'm just going to explain that um >> real quick. We we we can have this conversation. I want to read you something. It doesn't necessarily mean that you're under arrest or anything, but you're not you don't feel like you're free to leave, right? >> No, I don't feel like >> So, I got to read this to you. Okay. And then we can have whatever conversation you want to have if you choose to have it. >> Okay. So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. >> She appeared embarrassed, but was it because she had been caught or because she actually felt guilty? Even the reasons she gave for her actions seemed to reveal the answer. >> I'm on medication. My husband has four kids. I'm going to a lot of stuff. The medication I take causes blood to me. I will stop taking it. I just I have never stolen before. I It's my husband. I can't answer this now. >> Just just >> Can I call you right back, babe? I'm going to listen. I'll call you right back. He's going to kill me. I just want you to know that I I can't get rid of this. I have money. I am famous. I can't have this paper. I'm a casting director. I made 136 movies. I have the money. I have never stolen anything. And the only reason I did it was I took the medication I shouldn't take it because of my anxiety. I offered to pay for it the minute he caught me. I was honest from the beginning. I just don't want to go to jail. I can't go to jail. My husband's sick. Um, and my business if I go to jail, I I could lose everything. Google me, you'll see. I made 137 movies. >> I I don't It's not a felony. >> No, >> it's not a felony. >> It's It's Rita, right? >> Yeah. Rita. >> Rita, do you just have your ID for him? >> Sure. >> Thank you so much. >> At this point, she demanded to pay for the merchandise to erase the mistake she had made. But it seemed she still hadn't realized that the store's decision might no longer be in her hands. >> I shouldn't have done it. Look, I could pay for anything. Please, just let me pay and walk out the door. Please have some compassion. I'll never come in the store and do it again. >> Well, I believe they'll probably also want you trespass from >> I'll never come back to the store again. Never again will I come back to the store. I I just can't get arrested. I was arrested once in my life when a guy beat the [ __ ] out of me and I stabbed him 11 times and I went to Riker's Island to save my life. I cannot go back to jail. Not enough of this. >> Can you please tell me what's going to happen? I'm sorry. >> I'm going to just double check with everything >> for the call. Thank you. >> Listen, I was honest from the get-go. I did not lie to him because I knew what I was doing was wrong. I go to church every Sunday. I go to Bible. I know I shouldn't be doing this. I know I shouldn't be. I'm not a criminal. Apparently today I was >> supposed to get your phone number for you. >> 911. You can just call me and find every number I have. >> I have five numbers. You could go over and get >> Is the address on address? >> That's my address. Please don't send anything there. I'm not telling my husband. >> He's already got cancer and anxious and on medication. I can't tell him. He's got stage four cancer. That's why I'm losing my >> Suddenly, she started bringing up her personal circumstances. Was this a script she had pulled out from her experience as a casting director? She was also putting on quite a performance in her role as the innocent one. >> Can you please tell me what's going to happen? >> What do you think's going to happen? If you come to the store stealing stuff, what do you think happens? >> Yes. Yes. You're going to go to jail for that. Okay. Have you been arrested here in Cy County before? >> Are you a felon? >> No. >> Okay. >> You are, but you get a bond. Okay, your bond for this is going to be $150. You have to pay 10% of your bond to get back out. If you have $15 on you and you call bondsman, you can get right back out. Okay, within a couple hours. >> So, that's the deal. I'm not here to listen. >> This isn't even a felony. >> It's a misdemeanor. It was 86. You can't give me a break. >> No. Here in Florida, we don't do that. >> No. Be so mean. >> I'm not being mean, but you're coming in here. >> The way you're speaking to me, you could have a little compassion. At the end of the day, it's conscientious decision that you made to come in here and steal that. Yes, I did. I agree with that. >> I couldn't lie. You have it on camera. Why would I lie? >> I hope you wouldn't, but I would also hope that you wouldn't steal stuff. >> Okay. Um Okay. >> I have a >> Okay. Simple as that. >> I have a you are you going to put me in here? >> Yep. Then we're going to go to the jail house. You're going to get fingerprinted the Naples Jail Center, which is the airport in 41. You're going to get fingerprinted. You're going to get a photo. And then you're going to get get on the phone. >> I have $15. Don't worry. >> Okay. You can call the bondsman. >> I don't need a bond. I'll just pay the whole 15 hours. I don't need a bond. >> You'll be on a couple hours. You'll be given a court date. I'm sure you show up for that court date. Otherwise, the warrant's going to be put out for you. >> Honey, Google me and you'll see who I am. I always show up. >> Good. >> I have a lot to lose. >> Okay. I'm I'm I'm not a thief or a criminal today. Apparently, I am. But I'm not a thief or a criminal. I'm a hardworking. >> Then you're going to arrest me. If you could have a little compassion. >> Okay, stand up. >> Stand up, please. >> Thinking everything had already been decided, Rita started worrying about what was waiting for her. And her endless questions only made the situation more tense. >> Can I hold my phone? >> Set it down for and then we'll we'll take it out. Okay. >> Can I hold my phones? Can I hold my hand and let him know what's going on? >> Are you going to strip search me? >> Oh my goodness. Calm down. Face me. Put your hands in front of you. Are you going to strip search me when I get to this precinct? >> That's up to the jail, but I doubt it is. If you're not a felon, you haven't been there on any other felon. I'm a famous person. I'm a felon. How can I be a famous person and be a fel? How can I make 131 movies and be a felon? I'm licensed in bonded in New York City. What are you kidding me? I'm trying to explain why I did this. And look how mean they're being >> Put your hands up like this. >> Somebody tried to kill me. It was the only other time I was in handcuffs. >> This could have been avoided. >> Well, it could have been avoided. You could have been a little nicer, too. >> Don't feel stuff. >> Do you have a mother? Do you have a mother? Do you have a mother? >> Do you have children? >> I'm sorry. >> I'm sorry. Okay. Forgive me. >> You also trespass. If you return to this Walmart, you get this [ __ ] >> We're going to go this way. down this hallway here. This way, I'm a 60-year-old woman. You never hurt anybody. Is this personal or you had to do this? Look, did you have to do this? You could have just let me get in the car. I wasn't going anywhere. I have a mama. >> In the end, Rita was charged with petite theft in the second degree, a secondderee misdemeanor under Florida law. Admitting your mistake does not erase the consequences of your actions. Once the decision has moved beyond your control, excuses and pleas for special treatment may not change what happens next. >> She scanned them once. >> She scanned [music] her me twice instead of three times. Twice. >> Please believe in us. She only losing her baby. We will not find on everything we love. On the 25th of October 2025, officers responded to the loss prevention office after receiving a report that a mother and daughter had allegedly skipcanned nearly $90 worth of merchandise at the selfch checkout. This is what happened when police arrived at the scene. >> Hey. >> Hey. >> Are you the parent? >> Yes. >> Okay. Got you. This is your daughter? >> Yes. And she didn't want to try to steal her. >> I got you. Do you got your identification on you? >> No. Let me get your key out of the car. Let me go to the car. >> Hold on. Hold up for a second. Hold up for a second. What's your name? >> Sneaker. >> Yeah, she right now. Please, man. >> Pretty blue now. She got a newborn baby. We would not find on everything we love. >> What's your first name? >> Can you wait here with me? >> I'm not going to play. >> Can you just wait here? >> Yes, sir. I'm not doing it. I just stepped out here. >> Can I get the money out the car? >> Can we just wait one minute? Okay. We gotta [music] get everything figured out first before we go. >> Gonna let her pay. I thought I wanted Yeah, that's fine. I still got to facilitate just some of this. Um >> me, why I'm being facilitated? >> Just cuz you're the parent of the minor. Okay. So, obviously, we got to make sure that's all taken care of cuz I don't want to stuff with minors. It's always a headache. You know what I mean? >> Okay. >> What's your voucher's name? >> I'm going to go speak with them just real quick. Can you tell my I'll tell them that. Can you just wait right here, guys? just don't go nowhere. >> Immediately afterward, the officer approached the loss prevention staff to obtain their account of what had happened. >> So, they u she was scanning and then she was handing her stuff and they just didn't scan $87 worth of merchandise. >> Just so I know what we're doing. What are we doing? >> Um we prosecute. >> Okay. Okay. But she wasn't part of it. >> Oh, yeah. She was part of it. >> She was involved in the >> She was the one that scanned. >> I got you. It turned out the mother who had been trying to clear her daughter's name was involved in the incident as well. She seemed to know it, too, as she immediately became hesitant when the officer asked her to come back inside the store. >> I'm sorry. Darion's an adult. Um, I was mistaken. Once you're finished with that, they're probably going to want to borrow y'all from the property. So, can you come back in with me? >> They're going to um >> borrow it. >> We're going to be able to pay for it. >> I don't know. You'll have to take that up with them. Why are they borrowing me? >> It's their property. They can borrow for a decent. >> What? >> Yes. >> She didn't steal nothing. Like >> 26 drop. No need. >> Oh my god. >> You doing? I didn't take nothing. So what you doing here with us? >> Like this. I'm not going away. I swear to God. You don't have >> here for me. Thank you. >> Like please don't rock this. Please. We got a newborn baby at home with my little daughter. Please. Please let me pay. Please let her pay. I will pay for it. Please don't do anything. >> She immediately begged to pay for the merchandise. Something she hadn't done when only her daughter was in trouble. It was clear she was afraid of something which the loss prevention staff revealed moments later. >> I was laying it up. I had to scan things. She only >> Hold on. Let me take a look. >> I'm trying to scan the number. I was like, >> she scanned them once. She scanning twice instead of three times. >> Skip scanning, which is the term is used when people are scanning everything. >> She holding the top one, but she doesn't scan the bottom one. She doesn't. >> It's a common It's a common thing that happens. >> I was trying to take nothing from y'all. >> I got you. But you missed like >> a couple like like $90. >> So like we were working together. We were switching back and forth. Yeah, I did like one or two things, but like $90. >> I can pay for the $90. >> One, two, three, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 items. >> Items are missed doing. >> Yeah, >> I mean, I was I was standing. >> You want to get the barn right here? radio. >> They're going through. They're holding you to the same standards they're they are for their cash register people. >> The cashiers, you have to scan, make sure everything scans, everything rings up. >> Yeah. [snorts] Whether you were trying to or not, if you walked out of here with $87 more than you paid for it, >> if we had stopped it, you would have kept going. So, at some point, there has to be a lesson learned. So, obviously, >> pretty much worked up here. She's going either way. >> In addition, officers confirmed the mother had two outstanding warrants. So, they made separate decisions for the mother and daughter. >> So, you're all good to go. >> Yeah, you're good. >> I got a deal. >> Yeah, you're going either. I mean, you got two warrants anyway. So, you're going either way. >> Who want to? >> One out of this county, one out of Okorp. >> You miss anything in court from Oak County? >> No. >> We can't tell you everything. All we can tell you is the warrant where it's at. >> Yeah. So, anything you got to leave with her. >> You might want to bring a phone cuz you can get numbers that way. But unless you >> Unless you have them all memorized. >> What's up? >> Write them down. >> Yeah, that I mean they'll let you be in jail, too. But yeah, >> I'll just take it. >> Here you go. >> Hey, what? Write your number. Write the numbers down and I'll give you the paper out of here. Would you would you rather transport or do pay for it? >> Okay. You just want transport. I'll take care of it. >> Okay. What What am I all What is I got a warrant. >> You got two warrants. >> Close. Wow. They might be drug related or not. I didn't read them down. >> One in Clark County. What? >> Yeah. One local. They'll tell you what the jail >> Clark County didn't tell you. Oak Park County. We can't tell you. >> So, both of those are probably going to be taken care of how we get there. >> What do they mean? >> When you get there, they serve them serve them >> at the jail. >> Okay. Get you a handcuff. I have to pinch him back cuz that's our policy. >> Here we go. Do you ever get up here? Let me put your cash in the pocket. >> No, you have it with you. >> All right. >> Anything else? >> We're all good to go. >> All right. Come out here. We'll get you out there and see if we get the handcuff off every quick we can. The mother was arrested on two outstanding warrants, while the daughter was charged with misdemeanor retail theft for skip scanning merchandise. A moment of dishonesty can lead to lasting consequences, and trying to fix it after getting caught rarely changes the outcome. Taking responsibility from the beginning is always better than hoping no one notices. Next, this woman turned her crime into a felony without a care. >> All right, listen. >> What? >> Don't do that. What's the hang of it? >> I don't know y'all. All three big. >> Come on. >> Okay. >> On the 19th of September 2024, deputies responded to a Walmart after receiving a report that a woman had been removing security tags from merchandise inside a fitting room. They had no idea that what appeared to be a simple shoplifting investigation would ultimately lead to four additional criminal charges. Here's what happened when they arrived at the scene. >> Come here. >> Cuz they said something about you might be taking some stuff out of the the department out of there. >> Yeah. Hey, you ain't got nothing done any bag? >> I got my twins in there though right now. >> You got a twin in there? >> Just like me. >> Really? Wearing the same thing you got? >> No, but she does have red hair. You better >> Okay. Well, we'll figure that out here in just a second. Come here. They said that you come out of the dressing room with a bunch of tags. Popping tags. Is that true? >> No, I got babies. >> Okay. Well, come over here so we can figure it out. >> Huh? >> Come over here so we can figure it out. Where are you going to? >> No. >> All right. Listen. The woman had no intention of stopping to cooperate with the investigation, clearly showing that she was afraid something would be discovered. Moments later, she suddenly fled, only reinforcing that suspicion even further. >> Don't do that. >> NOPE. >> AUSTIN, don't do it. Don't do it. No >> 97 65 28 out of Florida India Hotel 1 5 Golf. >> Hey, stop the car. >> No, for real. GO >> stop the car. Just hang around. >> No, cuz I'm not about to be in trouble for something. >> Okay. What happened? >> They said that they're witnessing you popping tags. >> Let's just figure it out. >> But I wasn't. >> Okay, that's fine. We'll figure it out. Pull up here for a minute, Austin. >> What happened? We're trying to get to the bottom of it. Loss Prevention's got her in there popping tags off of items. >> Wait, I hear my twins in there, too. >> Walmart. >> Okay. You got a twin? >> Yes, actually. >> Okay, that's fine. >> She ain't even came out yet. >> Okay, that's fine. Did she ride up here with you? >> No. >> All right, Austin, pull it up here real quick just so we can figure it out. >> Listen, dude. It's fine. If you if she ain't done nothing, we're going to get to the bottom of it. >> After stubbornly using her vehicle as a shield to protect herself, she began fabricating a story, claiming that the real suspect was not her, but another member of her family. >> What is it? >> My twin sister Nick like he kept on saying like me and her him had something to do with and I got out of there because my sister was in there doing >> breathing so heavy. Where's your sister at? She's she was left her ass. >> Who's your sister? >> But she look just like me, dog. We're identical twins. >> Are y'all? >> Hell yeah. >> What's your uh What's your first name? >> Uh Miranda. >> Miranda. Probably. >> What's your middle name? >> It's not a big deal, man. We're just trying to figure out. >> Oh, you know what I'm saying? Just like the cop just, you know, been calm. >> But I can't control what you >> But don't don't take it out on me. Okay. I mean, he like he didn't even go look to go see. >> Well, he had some. >> Deputies confirmed that she did in fact have a twin sister inside the store. However, that did nothing to change the direction of the investigation as her earlier attempt to flee was clearly suspicious. As a result, deputies decided to detain her at that point. >> Okay. Okay. >> Get out. I'll call you back. >> What are you What's the hang up there? >> I don't know. Y'all all three big out. Come on. >> Oh, there. Oh [ __ ] My pants got a hole in them. >> Hey, hold on. >> Let go. [ __ ] >> I was just putting it down for you. Damn. You ain't have to do that. >> I ain't doing nothing. >> Yeah, you are. >> Dog said a word to you. >> Hey, can I get somebody else handle my ass? >> Hey, too. I love it. >> Just cooperate. I got it was about the car things. >> Can you stop caring burn on my arm? I love it. Let me see it. My ass hanging out. I got holes in my pants. >> She got the browning tattoo on her right inside. >> Yeah, he did. >> Yeah. Immediately after handcuffing the suspects, deputies searched their bags and found merchandise that directly contradicted the woman's repeated denial of the shoplifting allegations. More jewelry stuff. Yeah, they said jewelry. Hey, she also made me Are you serious? >> Yeah. >> Damn. Back on. >> Right there. >> I literally know he said >> that's a giant torch lighter. Oh [ __ ] The torch lighter stuck out first. Anybody got a test? >> Yeah. Actually, >> that might be real. >> It might be for speed. >> I came across it. Is that real? >> That's a clean ass. It might be >> all different shell. >> It could be. >> Don't Don't Yeah. Hold on. >> That's some cleaning. See, I wanted to be super concerned right now with a search car. >> Oh, dude. He was definitely super concerned. >> That's why he just wants to get out. >> Yeah, he gassed up and was trying to leave whenever I pulled in. Dude, a scale. >> At this point, the case had escalated far beyond a simple shoplifting investigation and into a drugrelated offense. Yet, she seemed completely unfased by the seriousness of the situation, remaining cheerful and carefree as everything unfolded. >> I ain't find your [ __ ] >> Okay. >> Yo, that's what you do. Let me hell no. I got holes in my pants and [ __ ] >> Hold on. No, you ain't get in my car like that. We uh we putting them back in the bag. >> What? >> You ain't getting my bag. >> I don't know [ __ ] >> At least you don't put me in just >> Thank you. >> I'm going to fix some stuff for you. >> I was just trying to put my shoes back on. >> What? >> Big ass bag. >> What you want? Yeah, cuz I just grabbed my my sister's diaper bag. >> Oh, yeah. That's mine. >> That That ain't email. >> And it's mine. >> All right. Put your hands behind. >> Yes. I get a cigarette. >> I told you if you cool me, I would. >> All right. >> All right. But you can't be putting your cuffs up front. All right. You can't do that. My hurts, man. That is mine. That's it. Mine. No. >> Hell no. Who are you? Who are you? >> All right. You have a seat back. >> How do you know me? >> Have a seat back in the car. >> All right. You You better not get that cigarette. You want me back in my car? >> Please. Let me get a cigarette, too. Oh, the whole reason I did that is to put my shoe back on. Oh, >> he left that part. It's all right, man. We'll put him back on to jail. You going to have to take them off anyways. >> All right. Hey, >> watch out. >> In the end, the woman was charged with retail theft, trafficking, and methamphetamine, resisting an officer without violence, and providing false identification during a law enforcement investigation. A lie may complicate an investigation, but fleeing, resisting, and carrying far more serious evidence can transform a minor theft into a life-changing criminal case. >> See your warrant? Let me see your warrant. >> I don't have a warrant. >> I have the right to see my warrant. >> Make it worse on yourself. You just let >> I'm not trying to make it worse, but you're good person. >> On the 30th of September, 2025, officers stopped a woman after Walmart's loss prevention team caught her concealing merchandise in her bag while attempting to leave the store. Here's what happened next. >> Ma'am, you got to go back in. >> All right. Go ask the guy for the receipt. >> Okay. >> And then I'll wait right here. Go ask for his receipt. >> Where is she? Just pay for just a bag. >> Is there stuff in your bag? >> No, there is nothing in my bag. >> In that bag right there. >> There is nothing in my bag. >> It looks pretty. And it's also >> because I have my personal item. >> Okay. You can go sort it out with them and if you're good, they'll just let you go. >> Okay. Call him out here cuz I'm not going back in there because he helped me with the machine. >> Okay. Well, you can open your bag right here. >> I can open it. There's nobody on this way. >> I don't have nothing that I stole. >> I'm going to watch you on the camera. So, I'm going to have you step in the office with me. >> Well, I want I want to see it now because the man helped me. Go get your me to show you. I watch >> Go get your marker that will help me. >> Hey, just step into this office and we'll talk about it in a minute. Just avoid any embarrassment. Yes, >> it is an embarrassment because I paid for it. >> Okay. Well, we'll sort it out inside. That simple. >> Oh my god. >> We need to talk to both of you guys. >> The woman denied the allegations, but refused to cooperate to clear her own name, which only made the situation seem even more suspicious. She even began invoking her rights as a citizen, making the situation even more tense. >> I wasn't stealing. Until you have proof, then move out of my way. >> What ma'am? until you have proof on the >> You have a warrant. Then get >> a warrant. We need >> Let me see your warrant. Let me see your warrant. >> I don't have a warrant. >> I have the right to see my warrant. >> I have the right to see my warrant. >> They'll show you the video as you go. >> I want my warrant. >> We're going to let your We're going to let your friend go. Okay. >> I want my warrant. >> Okay. >> You guys cannot check my property unless you guys give me a warrant. >> This one is our property. Ma'am, the bag is our property. Is our property. We're going to let your friend go. Then we're good to go. >> You're going to go take care of our daughter. >> My items was me. >> No, it is mine. I purchased it. >> You know what? >> Yes. Keep your soda. >> You guys as the lead as the man. Ask the man. >> Ask the man. I purchased it. Ask the man. >> They They already said that you did not purchase it. Don't do this right now. Don't do this >> because you guys need to go ask them. You guys need to ask them. >> Don't do this right now. Ma'am, >> let me go get my daughter first. >> No, we're not. >> Go get my Go get my >> Ma'am. You're going to get You're making it worse on yourself if you just relax. >> I'm not trying to make it worse, but you'reing help me with everything. >> Okay, just relax. >> I am, but you're pushing me. >> Okay, relax. Let >> I am. Let go. >> Let me cuff you and let go. No, >> don't >> let go and I woulding obeyed. >> No. >> Things only got worse because of the woman's own behavior, but her arrogance kept her from seeing it that way. Even after arriving at the police station, she continued denying any wrongdoing. >> I'm right here. Stop hurting me, >> Donna. >> I am not resisting. I got my rights. >> Just relax. You just get in the cup. It will be a lot easier. >> Okay, but you're hurting me. >> Okay, there. That's all you fingers can't fit. >> Huh? >> Two fingers can't fit in the >> If you get up, I'll do it for you. >> Okay, >> we'll get up. >> You told me to sit down. >> Well, get up now. >> Go get that man. >> What? Can you please stop moving? Donna, I'm trying to help you. >> You did a purchase, Donna. You concealed it all in toys we watched the whole time. >> But did you see me at the register? >> No, you didn't. >> Okay, cuz you guys have no proof. You pay for a code. You scan none of this stuff. >> Hold on, Donna. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. I'm trying to help you. >> Stop it. Okay. You We already know you do all this stuff. That's how we know your name. Your name's Donna. >> My name isn't Donna. >> Yes, it is. Your name is Donna. >> No, it's not. >> Yes, it is. >> How do you guys have proof that it's my name? >> Cuz we have proof. >> How? >> So, it's going to be >> Donna. But I got some bras, the shoes, the sandals. >> Your handcuffs are more than tight. >> I know my rights. >> She knew her rights and she knew exactly what she was doing. Even as more stolen merchandise was found, she continued making excuses to obstruct and prolong the investigation. >> I got to pee. >> Well, you can go after [clears throat] you. All right. I got to pee. >> Okay. Well, you're going to make it worse than yourself. >> Okay. I got to pee. the right to pee. >> I can't let you go right now, ma'am. >> Okay, you guys get a puddle and my ball. >> Okay. Well, it's going to it's going to be embarrassing to you. >> No, >> if you just relax and let this relax. Go ask the register. >> Look, there's they pulled all their stuff out of stuff. >> Go ask the regist. >> I'm not going to ask the register. >> You guys, these handcuffs are too tight. It's against the law. >> Watch your friend. It's against the law. >> It's against the law. >> I'll check. Watch. I'll check. >> Check. Turn around. You got to turn around. I can't do it this way. You got to turn around. >> I'm tight. >> Okay. >> They're tight. Uh, >> relax. If you You know why they're >> make them tighter? They hurt. >> You know why they're tight? Is because you were not letting me cuff you. >> No. >> Yes, you did not be aggressive. >> I don't like to be aggressive. >> You're being aggressive. >> Okay. Sorry. Well, can you bend over just a little bit? >> It'll help. Okay. >> You're hurting. >> I know I am. I'm sorry, but I'm trying to work it out for you. >> Is that better? >> No. >> Well, I can't that there's two fingers. >> Hurting my >> There's two fingers. >> They're hurting my bones. >> Okay, this one might be a little tight. So, bend over again. I'm just asking you to bend over so I can Or lean forward. Not bend over. >> Funny how you guys >> relax. Don't make it worse. >> Completely convinced that she was the victim, she clung to that mindset. She continued to refuse to cooperate. >> Where's your ID? >> I don't have one on me. >> You don't have What's that right there? >> It's my food stamps card. >> Can I take them from you? You don't need to hold them. >> They're mine. I could get to hold them. >> So, your name is Donna. >> One of them is >> So, I >> Who's that? >> None of your business. >> Okay. Can you take a seat? >> I I don't want to sit down. >> Well, you need to sit down or I'm not >> because if you don't sit down, I'm going to >> My hands hurt. Listen, Donna. >> My hands hurt. >> Listen. Okay. Can you just listen? Okay. And And I know And I'm not saying they don't hurt. >> They hurt. >> Okay. I'm not saying they don't hurt, but you need to listen. >> I'm listening. I'm standing here. And >> if you sit if you sit down >> and you you >> I've been through this too many times. >> I I can't go get my my computer unless you sit down for my unit. And if you go ahead and sit down, I'll get this paperwork done so you can get on your way. >> Okay. >> But you got to sit down. >> I'm finishing. No, you got to sit down on that gray bench. >> They hurt >> and I know >> and I want to I want to get you out of those handcuffs as quick as possible. >> They hurt. >> Okay, sit down. 10 to 15 minutes and we'll we'll be done. >> When I put pressure on them, it hurts. >> Okay. >> I'm not doing >> Well, I'm not going to I'm not going to leave until I go get the cuz I can't go get my computer because of the way you're acting. You're not cooperating with us. >> I am. >> No, you're not. >> You need to sit down. I'll feel more comfortable if you sit down. At this point, officers continued asking for her personal information, but because of the arrogance and uncooperative attitude she had displayed from the very beginning. They were forced to warn her about the consequences of refusing to comply. >> You're going to pick up two charges if you don't give me your birthday. >> Is that what >> concealing identity? You're not giving me Yes, you are. You're not giving me your identity. >> That's not concealing it. >> Yes, it is. >> No, it's not. >> Yes, it is. You need to get You're supposed to give me your name, date of birth. Give me your I don't have to. >> Yes, you are. You're you're you committed a crime. >> We got you and you're arrest You're under arrest right now either. You give me your name and your date of birth. >> You haven't even read me my rights. >> Okay, you're not going to run me for warrants then. >> Run me for warrants. I don't have any. >> You're making it worse. You You really could have been gone by now. >> Let me go. >> And you're starting to piss me off. All right. >> You're pissing me off. >> Can you look up Adonna? >> [clears throat] >> you. That's probably what your name was. >> Or Don, can you give me your date of birth and can you run it for warrants when you have a chance? Act like you're a freaking child. >> You act like >> No, you act like you're a child. Okay. >> Do I'm telling you my last name is >> great. All right. >> I'm going to make you sign them. I'm going to put them in your bag and you're free to go. >> Stand up. >> Nope. You're free to go. You know what to do since you've been involved with us so much. So, stand up, please. I can't. >> Well, you should not have done that. >> They're stuck. >> Stand up. Put them back. >> I can't. >> Well, I don't know what to tell you. >> Well, bend over. >> I'm not going to bend over. You stand up. >> How the you want me to stand up if I can't stand up straight? >> You shouldn't have done that. >> Figured out how to get out. >> You wanted me to. >> In the end, Donna was cited for shoplifting and concealing identity. Trying to avoid responsibility by refusing to cooperate only makes a situation worse. [music] Respecting the legal process and providing basic information can resolve an investigation much more quickly, while unnecessary resistance often leads to additional consequences. Let's go with Stop. >> Hi. >> Where are my dogs? >> There's a dog and a cat over here. >> I need my dog to come with me. That's my problem. Uh, on the 24th of March 2023, officers approached a vehicle with a license plate matching the description of one involved in an incident at Walmart. But when questioned, she did not seem willing to cooperate easily. >> ID. >> Need your ID because you were just involved in a theft at Walmart. >> I was not in Walmart. So, >> okay. They gave me this exact plate. >> How do you know it was me? >> Okay. They gave me the exact vehicle and plate description. >> Anything? I didn't see you anywhere. Okay. >> I just came out here to let my dog out. >> I need your ID. >> I don't have an ID. >> Your vehicle is not back here a little bit ago. I know you just pulled it. >> Yes, it was. >> Yes, it was. Cuz I watched you come around. Yes, it was back here. >> Okay. What's your What's your driver's license? >> I don't have a driver's license or ID. I don't need to give you anything. I did nothing wrong. You did. I didn't. >> You're being stopped. >> I'm not being stopped. I'm sitting at a property. >> Okay. You're not free to leave. Let me make that really clear to you right now. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um >> So, you're going to have to identify yourself. >> For what reason? I just told you >> because you thought I was stealing from Walmart. >> They called out your exact plate. Okay. Show me the receipt. So, you were just there. You first told me. >> I wasn't just there. No, I was there a little while ago. >> Okay. And I have a receipt from >> How long ago were you there? >> I don't know. 20 30 minutes ago. >> Let me see the receipt then, please. >> Do you have any identification on you? >> After admitting she had been at Walmart just 20 to 30 minutes earlier, she continued avoiding identification, making the situation even more suspicious. 104. She's wearing a white sweatshirt with uh superheroes on it and black and white pants. We're looking for two packages of underwear. It looks like should be a lift. >> 104. She's uh not being exactly cooperative at this point. >> See, here's all my receipts. All my shopping that I did. I don't need to check out at the checkout. I check out on my own. They're looking for specifically two packets of >> what I check out on my own while I'm scanning. That is what it is. >> I'll be there in a second. >> All right. I need you to identify yourself at this point. Do you have any sort of ID on you whatsoever? >> No, because there's no reason to stop me. Nobody else identified me. I didn't >> You are You are stopped. You just match the description that I gave them. Okay. So, you're not free to leave. You have to identify yourself. >> I just gave you my receipt showing me that I'm there. >> Okay. I was sitting there. >> Yeah. By this point, things had become more serious as the suspect continued avoiding questions, especially when asked about the stolen items, making her story increasingly difficult to believe. >> Do you have the items that they're asking for? >> I have the items that I bought. I bought uh spray and some um some fries. That was it. >> So, if we were to search the vehicle, >> I'm all about to search my vehicle. Excuse me. >> So, if we were going to search the vehicle, would there be there would there be the underwear that they're talking about missing? >> No, you're not. There's no underwear in here. There's a bunch of [ __ ] in here, but no underwear. >> Okay. >> Like I said, I don't have to be in the store to give them a receipt. I shop on my phone. All I do is scan it. Then I'm going to go to check out and scan myself. >> Possibly born in 1980. >> You born in 1980. >> No. Uh, not sure what >> I thought Terry had a name. >> No, I said >> thought Terry had a name. >> I have a couple different options to try and narrow it down. >> Do you have anything with your name on it and your date of birth? >> I just told you my name >> so I can identify 89. It was wearing 91. My birthday's next time you ask for my information. Make sure you ask for my date of birth and not just my shut my door please so I can put the window down. >> Not at this point. >> What are you looking at? >> What door? Okay, step out of the vehicle. >> No, my dogs are in here. You're my service dog. You cannot take me anywhere without me. >> I'm going to take you. >> You can't take me anywhere without him. >> The situation continued to escalate as her lack of cooperation turned into clear resistance, forcing the officers to take more direct measures to restrain her. >> Seriously, ma'am, >> stop. You cannot take me without my service dog. >> You can either step out on your own accord. >> You're not listening to me. >> You can either underrest. >> You can't take me without MY SERVICE DOG. >> STOP. STOP. LET'S GO. Don't [ __ ] play. Stop. STOP. >> HEY. HEY. >> STOP. GO. STOP. >> RELAX. >> LET GO OF ME SO I CAN GET OUT. IT'S going to bite you. Let him go. >> Okay. Put your hands. >> LET ME GO. >> STOP RESISTING. >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND your back. You're under arrest. >> For what? >> The vehicle. In the vehicle. in the vehicle. >> Can you just help? Can I help you put him in there? >> God damn. >> Yep. Just relax. >> You didn't make this easy. >> I don't know why you told me with me. >> Come on. Okay. >> Are you okay? >> No, I'm not. >> What's wrong? >> Do you need an ambulance? >> Do you need an ambulance? >> You don't need an ambulance. >> Why do you care? What did I do? >> Cuz I want to help you. >> Excuse me. Well, cuz you weren't being cooperative and they said you stole some stuff from Walmart. >> I didn't steal anything. >> Okay. >> I ignored you. So, what did we offer? >> Well, the other officer that's up there watching video told us to take you into custody. >> Okay. Well, what? >> I I just said that. >> Can I help get my dog to the car, please? >> Can we roll you up here? >> Let's get you up. >> The only thing the woman needed to do was cooperate, but she failed to see that. Instead, bringing her pets into the situation and making things even more complicated. We'll get you up >> here. >> I need to have somebody come over here and get my [ __ ] dog. >> I'll grab you on this arm. Push your legs. Okay. >> Hi. >> Where are my dogs? >> There's a dog and a cat over here. >> I need my dog to come with me. That's my problem. >> Uh, you're a big boy. You want to hop up in this car? >> Come on. >> Looking at resisting them. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> There's no reason for you to stretch in there. I don't give you any consent. >> But you're under arrest. >> I don't care. There's no reason. I need Listen to me, please. >> Yep. And I need you to listen. >> I need my dogs. >> We're going to go over here. >> Listen. >> Nope. If you're not going to listen. >> I'm listening to you, but I need somebody to come get them. >> So, I'm going to try to explain it again. >> Can you please have somebody to come get my dog with me? Oh, my boyfriend. He's right upstairs. >> Okay, we can do that if you start acting good. >> They have to come with me. You're not understanding. That is my service dog. >> But they don't go to jail. >> They can't do that. I cannot go without him. Well, they don't allow dogs in. >> That's too bad. He goes everywhere with me. You're serious to get how it works. >> We gave you the chance to come. >> We didn't give you the chance. I asked what you were doing. >> Here we go. There we go. Yeah. We don't We don't want any problems, right? >> Yeah. I got the stolen property. You can put them back in there. Once things had settled down, an officer explained to her boyfriend that she had been arrested for the Walmart theft, leaving him with little more than helplessness. >> Manager inquest, officer inquest from the Marshville Police Department. So, um, did your girlfriend drive like a dark blue minivan? >> She she was using mine. Yeah. Why? >> Okay. So, uh, she just got arrested for a retail theft for something she did at Walmart. Oh, you should >> um >> I think she has my wallet, too. So, if I can have that back, that's that my all my cards and stuff. I mean, can I go down and get all that? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> 104. Do you want to grab a shirt? I don't care if you go shirtless, but it's kind of cold. >> I'm just going down grabbing the keys and my wallet. >> Okay. >> And then I'll wait till you guys are done and then I'll grab the dogs. So, whenever you guys are done doing what you're doing. >> Okay. I appreciate it. I know this is not ideal. Oh, >> hi. >> Hello. >> Are you Andrew? >> Yeah, she went buck wild there. What's up with that? >> I have no clue, man. >> She She doesn't like She doesn't like authority. Police, especially police officers, she doesn't care for them. >> Do you want to get the dogs out of there now? >> I can get the dogs out now, I guess. >> Come here. Come here. Come here. Come on. Oh, she got him on this little bitty leash. What the hell? Come on, buddy. >> All right. >> The woman was charged with retail theft and battery to law enforcement. Refusing to cooperate can quickly turn a simple theft investigation into a much more serious situation. When officers give you a chance to explain and comply, resisting only adds to the consequences. Next, what began as a simple traffic stop led officers to uncover a seasoned criminal. >> They're counterfeit. You know why? cuz you all have the same zero number. Proceeding here from Walgreens. >> That's why you bought it with the with the gift card. >> On the 27th of December, 2023, officers [snorts] conducted a routine traffic stop, but they never expected it would lead to one crime after another being uncovered. As soon as they approached the vehicle, they immediately smelled a suspicious odor. >> So, she says that either her baby daddy or her boyfriend smokes marijuana. Yeah, I can smell the weed coming out of the car. >> It's not really a big deal. Not we're not saying you smoke marijuana, but if you're saying your either your baby daddy or your boyfriend, I'm already confused smokes marijuana and this is carb. That could be a reason why we're smelling it. >> Does that make sense? >> Yes, that makes sense. I didn't know the carb was carb. >> Okay. >> Tell me a little bit about you. What do you do? What kind of work you do? >> I do a little bit of I do massages. >> Okay. >> And also is work. and you sell lingerie. >> Behind the passenger seat, a large amount of merchandise was scattered around, immediately raising the officer's suspicions. They then asked the woman to step out of the vehicle so they could proceed with the next steps. >> Any firearms in the car? >> No. >> Go back there. I don't want I don't want you get hit back. >> Anything on you I should know about? >> That's fine. Don't reach for anything. I'm going to have a female pat just come and pat you down. Here's where we're at. The reason we're searching your car is because like my partner said, we do smell the order of marijuana coming from the from the inside of the car. So that proposal to search inside your vehicle. You understand that? >> So you're just going to hang out with my partner here. I'm going to go through your vehicle. If there's nothing that if there's nothing in this vehicle, then you just go about your business. You understand? >> Okay. >> Do you think there would be marijuana in the car like you're doing? >> Maybe. I don't think, but you know. Okay. There's a lot. There's a lot of cash to be handling by such a young lady by herself. >> No, I just went to the ATM. You >> went to the ATM? >> Yeah. >> The ATM gives you that this much money. I used to work for a bank. I used to work for a bank. >> The ATM and I got a couple dollars. I already had some money since last night. >> Gift cards, right? >> Yeah. >> I always had gift cards. >> Yeah, I know. >> That's what it >> Okay, so let's let's try this again. You live in Miami Gardens, which is not right here. That's two different counties. >> Mhm. >> Why would you drive all the way to the Weston Walgreens? >> No, that's why I said I was already coming through the area. I was going to >> Where is your ultimate goal right now? Where are you heading to? >> To pick up the baby. >> Where's the baby? >> Sunrise. >> What part of Sunrise? >> Uh, that's not >> What's the address? >> University. I don't know the address. I just know how [music] to get there. She kept changing her story, making her statements increasingly inconsistent, as if she were hiding something. The officers then decided to handcuff her after discovering it. Come here, man. Come here. Turn around. Put your hands on your back. You're being the same right now. >> They're counterfeited. You know why? >> Cuz you all have the same serial number. >> Yep. >> Yes. I was working at the club and somebody gave you what? >> I was working with the club the other night and somebody gave them some. >> You just said you do massages and sell lingerie. You work at the club, too. >> I don't know. That's not something that I like to >> here. >> I'm a dancer. >> Oh, you're a dancer, too? >> Yes. >> So, you're a massager. >> You sell lingerie? >> I do a little bit of >> You're a dancer. >> Yes. >> And you spontaneously uttered that somebody gave those to you? >> Yes. when I was dancing in the club. >> From possessing illegal drugs to carrying counterfeit money, she hardly seemed surprised, as if she had known about it all along. But it wasn't over yet, as the officers discovered several more items suspected of being stolen. And besides, fraud written all over the world. >> Let me ask you a question. You just left Walgreens, right? >> From Walgreens. the suffering now. Oh, probably some more blames. Yes, I I purchased >> What? What did you just find? >> I purchased every day. >> Okay. >> I was just about to put them on. >> All right. So, get getting back to the bags that you were seen carrying out of Walgreens. >> Yes. >> Did you buy it? >> Yes. >> You have a receipt? >> It's a digital receipt. That's what she said. >> It's a digital receipt. >> Yes. Because when you have a Walgreens card, all I have to do is put mine on. Did you use any of the money to to make it >> cash? No. >> Yes. No cash. >> It's time to pay. >> Your hair comes out. >> No, >> that's my rent money. >> So, how much am How much is right here in these 20s? And >> you said you got it off from the ATM? >> Not all of it. >> Where'd you get the rest of it? >> You went Okay. So, how much did you withdraw from the ATM? >> Um, just about a >> How about how much? >> Again, 900. >> 900 or grand? Okay. >> She continued lying to the officers, but none of it fooled them. As they kept searching the vehicle, every additional item they found only reinforced their suspicions. Where did you get this from? >> Huh? >> Everything is at Walgreens. >> Okay. Did you just get this from our Walgreens? >> Huh? >> Yes. I just told you that. >> Okay. >> And where is your receipt for this? >> Things went to the online receipt. >> I understand. But they still print you a receipt out. >> No, they don't. They when they do individual they don't give you pop from >> right here at the front button. Stay right there. >> If it doesn't pops with the button you have a receipt in here from Walgreens. That's why you bought it with the with the gift card. See, >> now it's all making sense. >> So, what I think is happening is gift cards are being bought with the counterfeit money. >> Mhm. No. >> And then >> that's what I think. >> I didn't purchase them with any counterfeit. If you go to Walgreens, I know >> I didn't use any counterfeit. I literally >> You're in possession of counterfeit bills. >> Yes. When I was working at the club, that's what they gave me. >> You know that's illegal, right? >> I didn't All I've been doing was trying to make my rent money, sir. >> Okay, >> that was it. That was it. They told me try to go to the bank, see if it was cheap it out for me because that didn't even make sense. >> In fact, the woman had driven from Miami Gardens to Weston to shop while carrying counterfeit money and gift cards. [music] The officers suspected she was involved in a fraud scheme, and she eventually admitted to making those purchases. 700. >> You spent $700 right now? >> Yeah. >> On what? >> Was it the gift cards? >> Yeah, I got one gift card and I got all my um >> Okay, so your total bill, >> did you do multiple purchases or just one? >> Oh, he told me to do it separate. >> So, how many individual purchases did you make? >> Oh, I just did two. >> You did two? Yeah. >> And so, two purchases and the total the grand total for both purchases was how much? About $700. >> About $700. >> And so you live in Miami Gardens. >> Yes. >> You drive all the way to Weston. >> You don't live here. You have no family that lives here. >> Like I told you, >> I know you told like I told you, the story just doesn't make sense. >> Cuz you're saying your baby is somewhere in Sunrise. So why wouldn't you just go to the Walgreens and Sunrise? >> To be honest with you, I was already angry. I was on the phone talking. That's probably why I didn't notice the stop sign. So on the phone talking, venting, and I went to go get the the original pancake, but then I end up changing my mind. So I just >> Right. So look, >> kept driving. >> I I it still doesn't make sense, but if that's your story, you're sticking to it, that's fine. Listen, I don't want you to get in trouble for what someone else may have you doing. So, I'm a fraud guy. And I don't know if that's clicking in your head what that means, but all of these money orders and cards and gift cards, I'm going to write subpoenas for. I'm going to backtrack them. I'm going to see who the victims are. I will get my answers. This is not legal what you're doing. Okay? I don't want you to get in trouble for what someone else is having you do. Think about your kid right now. Nobody else. You and your kid. In the end, the woman was charged with petty theft, possession of forged bills, [music] and three drugrelated offenses. One lie often demands another until the truth becomes impossible to defend. In the end, it [music] is not just the original crime that brings consequences, but every dishonest choice made to cover it up. >> Go to jail tonight. Do you understand that? >> Not tonight, but tomorrow. >> I'll explain that in a sec. What's the reason for you stealing tonight? >> Nothing. I just did. I'm I'm sorry. I I wanted to do >> You have no reason. On the 28th of January 2025, officers were dispatched to Target's loss prevention office after receiving a report of a theft. The suspect was a woman who had taken a pair of trousers and a box of Play-Doh without paying. The items may not have been worth much, but as the investigation continued, the situation became far more serious. >> Hi, how you doing? Hi, I'm Officer Borto with the police department. You know what you what you're in here for, right? Okay. And what's your name? Kadija. >> Kadisha, you don't have an ID on you or do you have one? Oh, okay. What she say? Play-Doh and then >> Okay. Did you Did you grab everything that you know? You don't need to have any suspicion of having her or anything else. >> No. >> Okay, Kadesha. Okay. So, right now, I'll explain to you the steps. Okay. You're not going to jail tonight, and I'll explain why. Okay. You can be. Does that make sense? >> Sorry. >> You can go to jail tonight. Do you understand that? Not tonight, but tomorrow. >> I'll explain that in a second. Okay, I just got to grab my book. My book is stuck right here. >> Why, sir? Please. >> She casually challenged the officer's conclusion as if she had every right to do so. While the reason she gave for stealing was completely unreasonable. >> What's the reason for you stealing tonight? >> Nothing. I just did. I'm sorry. I I don't want to do >> You have no reason? >> No, I have no reason. >> Do you have money? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Okay. You just didn't want to pay tonight? >> No, I just I I I'm sorry. I'm guilty for that. >> Okay. I'm just asking a question. That's okay. Uh, have you stolen from this target before? >> No. >> No. Have you stolen from anywhere else? Is she saying that you have stolen? >> I don't know. She saw me and I was like, I never >> This is your first time putting her in the office. >> Yes. First time her being in the office, but she has uh 15 other incidents. >> Yeah, they they're really good here. Okay. >> Please don't don't arrest me. I have a family and you know. >> Is that them waiting for you out there? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Have you been arrested by the police before? >> No, never. Never, never, please leave me. I have small kids. I'm sorry. I won't come here again. Please. >> So, I'm curious. Right. Least the items here. >> Yeah. >> The uh loss professional staff here saying that they've been watching for the last 15 15 times to steal. Why do you keep doing that? Just cuz you keep getting away. >> Sorry. I'm sorry. >> No, no. I understand you're sorry. I'm asking a question. I want to see what's what you're asking. >> No reason. I have no reason. >> If I can ask you, right? So, just because you you keep getting away every time, you think it's okay then? >> No, no, no. This time I'm I'm just done. I'm I'm going to do it again. Please. >> It's just, you know, it's frustrating, right? It's not okay, right? And you have kids. You said, >> "Yes, please." >> So, you you said you have money, >> but you just didn't want to pay for it today. What did you steal today? What kind of items? I haven't looked at it yet. >> Trouser. >> Was it >> a trouser and a Play-Doh box? >> I I just forgot to pay for the Play-Doh because my kids were walking. Daughter was just going here, you know. I just >> even after being told that she had been caught stealing 15 times, her expression barely changed. She seemed to think it was no big deal, forcing the officer to emphasize just how serious her repeated thefts were. >> Kadisha Kadia, look, ma'am, look. Look, ma'am, it's hard to give you a bit. >> You give me more. >> Don't cut me off. Don't cut me off when I'm talking. >> Sorry. >> I'm already being nice to you. >> Okay. I'm having a conversation like an adult with you. Okay. >> You've done this more than 15 times. Around 15 times, right now you got caught. Now you're sorry. >> No, I won't do it again. I'm sorry. >> And now you're making excuses of how you forgot to pay it with you for one item, right? >> I won't do it. I won't do it. I give you guarantee. I won't come here. I'm sorry. Please don't make arrest. You know, if >> Is this uh is this address correct? The one that you live is that is that still correct? >> Yes. >> You still live there? >> Okay. Are you guys confident that she got everything back from my home? >> Yeah. It was just so >> She didn't Did she put anything on her person or you saw? Okay. Shortly after the store made its decision, confirming that they also considered the woman a serious problem that needed to be addressed. Okay. >> So after today, you are not allowed to come back for life. Okay. Is that right? For life. >> If you come back in a parking lot and we see you, that's arrestable. Okay. >> Okay. Got it. >> Makes sense. >> Please don't make arrest right now. >> Let's grab Let's grab what we need. >> I got the photos of this for you and and her ID pretty much. So you have video of her consuming out in the book bag. Is that correct? and then bypassing all you know >> without paying for these items and then and then y'all stop. Okay. >> I'm not from I wasn't born in the United States. Were you born in the United States? >> No. >> So is the crime much worse where you came from? >> Yes. >> Same here. It's a lot worse in where I came from. [music] >> Okay. So just because in the United States it's not as hard doesn't mean it's okay. >> That's what my frustration is cuz we're both immigrants. >> I want to have this conversation. >> In my country you don't just go to jail for stealing. Yeah, >> you might get something else. [music] >> Yeah. >> Which is worse. Okay. >> I'm going to give you this benefit of the doubt. Do you know you know what that means? >> I'm going to believe you so you don't do this again. >> I'm going to send you a ticket in the mail. [music] >> Okay. >> Okay. A ticket means it's a court ticket. >> Okay. >> They're going to tell you, "Hey, show up on this day or call this phone number." >> You don't contact them or you don't show up to that date, there will be an arrest warrant. Do you understand what that means? That arrest warrant will be under your name for us for [music] a really, really long time. It means that if you get talked to by any police officer in any state in the United States, it means that take her to jail because you did not go to this court date. Do you understand? >> For this incident, the officers decided to give her a chance instead of taking her to jail. Before letting her leave, they explained what she would have to do next. >> Okay. So, what is the process? You going to send a citation in the mail and then she has to appear in the court. >> If she wants to, yeah, it's up to her. So, my advice to you is she has the case number with everything. Once it comes in the mail, you can call in down to the Kent Municipal Court and just ask what your next steps are and they'll direct you accordingly. Okay. >> Okay. Can I ask you a few pieces of information? Is that okay? >> You can ask me whatever you like. >> Have you guys seen the uh videos or things? Have you seen >> this Target is very very good. They watch you from the time you walk in and the time you walk out. There's videos everywhere. And she has she's actually been recorded here in the past. She hasn't been caught yet in the past for stealing. Can you feel >> No, I'm just asking. I'm just asking for my own. >> So, uh, we we do have more than enough evidence to charge her with it and that's why she's being charged. All the evidence and everything we have is going to be submitted under that case number and you guys can actually submit what's called a public record request. You can call down to the city of Kent and you can just request the case number. That way they give you everything and you can see it once it's all put in there. She's not going to jail right now. She's getting a ticket. So, I mean obviously stealing's wrong. >> So, I just uh one question. I haven't seen the videos or anything, right? We've been coming from 14 13 years from here. um three four times a week and everything right I don't see any reason uh the only uh for shoplifting or anything but I was just wondering have you seen from a lens where they are with the baby and they put it casually >> so you're you're more than welcome to you can ask her as well like I said what happened I mean are I'm sorry are y'all married >> oh yeah she's my sister >> Oh your sister yeah if you ask your sister she she could probably tell you what her her version of events are I can't speak for her we did we did speak with her though and everything will be and everything will be in the investigation and you can you can request My only thing, have you seen it from the lens that is? >> In the end, the woman was charged with theft. Repeated theft can quickly turn a seemingly minor incident into a serious legal problem. Being given a second chance does not erase the consequences or the responsibility to appear in court. In the next case, the woman wanted to pay, but it was already too late. >> No, I I wasn't heading out the door. I was going the money right there. On the 13th of May 2022, police received a report from Walmart about a theft that had occurred. And the suspect was believed to be a woman who had intentionally skipcanned merchandise, at which point officers quickly approached her after observing her past the final checkout area. for you know >> right now if I place your hands behind your back please >> your hands behind your back >> place your hands behind your back for that hide I had her >> no I I wasn't heading out the door I Amen. >> My head was right here. Why would I pay for it? >> You have anything on you, man? It's going to poke me or stick me? >> It was strange that she claimed she was heading to pay even though she was already near the exit. And even while being escorted, she still showed clear irritation about being arrested. >> Please, I don't want to give you any trouble. Please, I'm I'm sorry. I apologize. >> I'm supposed to pay for it all. I just paid for it right now. >> All right, ma'am. So, right now, you're being detained on suspicion of retail theft. Okay. We're just going to go to the asset protection office and get it all squared away. Okay. >> Okay. Okay. because I I'll pay for all of it. >> I'm sorry. I just want to pay for it all. >> You're getting all right. I'll meet you in the office. I'm sorry. I'm never I mean I don't know why, but I've got the money. I'm going to pay for it all. >> The question was raised, if she truly intended to pay, why did she not do so before leaving? And shortly afterward, loss prevention staff also had their own separate conversation. This is if you want to throw this in her wallet when you get a chance. This is her gift card that she paid for the amount. >> Can I pay you for it? >> Me? >> Yeah. >> No, unfortunately. >> Did she take? >> Come on. >> Yeah. She took a switch on the shirts and shirts. >> What? You put a different ticket on it. >> I watch the tickets. >> Come on. Please just let me pay for it and I will give you all this money. I've got over $800 on me. I have a problem and I've been I know with this and I know I need help, but I will pay for all of it. She put that in the bag right in front of me. I will pay for all of it. I promise you I'll pay for everything. It was my head and I will I have a job. Yeah. I I had to >> your wrist. >> Oh, I had a big >> a burn. >> Yeah, it had to be. >> It seemed there was no longer any denying her guilt, and officers escorted her outside to the police station to proceed with the next steps. keys in my gangster. >> I can't leave. I don't have keys. >> Hard on you. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. My what egg are. >> Yep. We'll get them checked out. >> Get you inside and you can give Who's at home? >> My boyfriend. >> He can drive your medicine up here, right? >> Not if you have previous retail theft convictions. Go ahead and third stool on the left. Before you sit down, I'll take the handcuffs off. >> Oh, just I have a conviction I can't on. Illinois law says your second offense after previous conviction is a felony level offense. Bend your elbow for me. She was charged with retail theft. Her actions showed that claiming intent means nothing without proof. And once trust is broken, consequences follow, no matter how many excuses are made afterward. >> You have activated our inventory control system. Please return to your cashier. And >> I didn't I >> stop. >> I didn't steal anything. On the 11th of December 2022, police received a report from CVS Pharmacy about a woman who refused to leave even though the store was about to close. She was also quite familiar to the staff as she had previously come there to steal and it appeared that this time was no different. First, here's what happened when the officers arrived at the scene. >> That's her basket right there. >> Okay. And she has to buy that stuff. >> Oh, it's gone. Good. So, sounds like the store doesn't want you here. So, you're going to have to >> always always here. >> Okay. >> Why every store cop? >> What's it? >> Hey. >> What? >> Listen. >> What? >> Put your stuff down and you got to leave. >> Yes. Or else I'm going to escort you out. >> Oh my god. >> Put your stuff down. >> No, I don't want to. >> I didn't ask you. I'm telling you. Put your stuff down. >> We're leaving. [ __ ] you. I'm telling you to do what I already told you to do. >> Grab Give me this stuff. >> You have activated our inventory control system. Please return to your cashier. >> The store's alarm went off as the woman walked out. Clearly, this was not a good sign for the officers. At this point, there was little chance she would be able to leave so easily. >> I don't steal. I take >> Come here. Oh no. >> Come here. Does that mean she took something? >> Wait, I don't. >> No, I didn't steal anything. I didn't >> I didn't I stop. >> I didn't steal anything. >> Then why is your alarm system going? >> My bag. >> We are. We're going to >> Okay. But I did. >> That's all my I bought. >> But I left my purse in there. Okay, we can get that here in a second. >> What the are you doing? >> Stop. >> Don't you do that. >> Stop. You're going to be in cuffs. You're going to >> No, I'm not. >> Yes, you are. >> What the >> Stop. >> I will kill you. >> That's fine. >> Yeah, they ain't going to kill you anymore. >> What are you doing? >> No. >> We're done. >> Her resistance only suggested that she was trying to hide something. But that was not a major concern for the officers. They had already made up their minds and decided to take decisive action. [ __ ] Stop. Stop. >> What did I do? >> Knock it off. No. Stop. >> Stop resisting. >> Knock it out. I'm a disciple. I'm a disciple. Knock it off. Knock it off. >> Stop. [groaning] I'll kill you. Stop kicking me. >> Just stop. >> Hey, hey, hey, hey. Can we talk? >> No. >> We are far past that. >> Guys, I'll kill you. >> Stop trying to scratch me. >> I'm begging you, guys. I'm begging you. >> Stop trying to scratch me. >> Please me. Please pass out. Please me. Guys, you can search me. I promise I didn't steal anything. You have to search me. Okay, you can search everything. Okay, guys. >> Stop talking. >> I didn't steal anything. They're all watching. They're going to kill me up right now. Coming up right now. >> He's coming up right now to kill you. Stop. A stop. Oh, >> stop kicking me. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. That >> stop. Sorry. >> It's not that hard. >> The officers then escorted her to the patrol car and searched her bag. Everything they found inside seemed to confirm what had happened. >> I'm sorry. Guys, I'm sorry. Guys, I'm sorry. Hey, >> stop talking. Sit down. >> Sit down. >> I'm sorry. >> I really am. >> Think someone's done some math today? >> No. Not at all. Why don't you act like that? So, there's this. >> What's your name? >> What's that? >> I'm a disciple. >> No, you're not. Okay. >> Look at my Look, take off my jacket. I'm a disciple. Look, I'm wearing it. I'm wearing a jacket. Take it off. Take Take this off. >> Okay. How do you spell your first name? I'm I'm in the game. I'm a disciple. Look at my jacket. >> Take it off. Take it. >> How do you spell your first name? >> Ada. >> Yep. >> That's why I don't want you guys to die. They'll kill you for killing me. >> They will. My game will murder you. >> I wouldn't kill you guys. >> I got you guys back for life. >> ADA. >> What if you killed me? I got you. Okay. That's why I don't want this. >> Okay. >> ADA. >> ADA L E. That's my government name. It is my legal woman name. >> What's your last name? >> Never heard of anyone. A D A L E. That's my real name. I swear. >> So hard to tell like what stolen. >> Right. >> Did you find an ID? >> I have zero idea what she's even telling me her name. >> Natalie something. >> I'm in a gang. I'm a disciple. >> I care about you. >> I don't want you to die. >> What's your first name? >> My gang would kill you. That's why I told you to stop. >> What's your first name? I will protect you. >> What's your first name? >> Adalie. >> What is it? >> Adalie. >> Adalie. >> Stop here. I don't want I hear >> I found her. >> Yeah. >> That's what >> Yeah, she's losing weight. She's a disciple. It's just you. >> She's not going to hurt. She better gang. The officers then returned the merchandise to the store employees who provided statements that gave them more information about what had happened earlier involving the suspect. >> Rolling around on the floor there just pulling in asking you got to go. I go we're going to lunch. We're locking up. >> Mhm. >> Um and I go I'm going to call an officer and she's like it didn't matter. >> Mhm. >> So you going to arrest her or what? >> Yeah. She's going to jail. So >> I promise you I'm not lying. Okay. I was going to buy something and my bag. I'm not lying. >> Is she from around here, do you think? Or >> uh she was listed at homeless animal. So I'm assuming that looks like we've dealt with her before. So >> she's been in here before and >> yeah, >> the same thing. That's like That's like two grand right there. >> Oh, yeah. >> The cosmetics are not cheap. >> No, they are not. So, all right. Yeah. Let us know if you guys just come across >> No. Um just let us know if you come across anything else that she had some other stuff in there that looked like >> [snorts] >> um it had at least been opened and like used. So, and like just like used like one time. So, if you come across anything that >> That's fine. We're good. >> Okay. Thank you. >> It's good. Thank you. >> You bet. Um, all that stuff was theirs. So, retail. Um, I ma'am, I see that you you scratched your chin a little bit. Uh, do you need to go to the hospital or get medical attention? Okay. Are you injured at all? >> Yeah, I am, but >> How are you injured? >> Finally, Adalie was charged with two counts of felony threat to a law enforcement officer, misdemeanor retail theft, and resisting an officer. She was released on a $1,000 signature bond, but later failed to appear in court and was arrested again for retail theft. Since then, she has been arrested seven more times, bringing her total to nine active cases. Poor decisions can quickly turn a manageable situation into a much bigger problem. When faced with consequences, staying calm, being honest, and taking responsibility is often the best way to prevent things from getting worse. Refusing to accept reality only creates more problems that could have been avoided.
