What? What is your problem? Why you me, bro? >> We'll explain everything to you in one sec. >> Hey, fine. Sorry. >> They brought the outside bags in. That's what you're saying. And they put stuff in the bags. >> Yeah, they put in the reusable bag right there. And >> can you please leave us? >> No, that's not how it works. Unfortunately, we have to rescue you. Okay. >> Stop. What are you doing? This is what you're trying. >> Shoplifterss think they can outsmart the system. They often forget one crucial detail. The cameras are always watching. Their bold attempts to steal quickly collide with the harsh reality of being caught in the act. All of this unfolds in today's video. When Walmart shoplifterss forget cameras are rolling until reality hits. Welcome to This Is Law, a channel that takes you inside real encounters with law enforcement. Don't forget to like and subscribe. Beginning with this liar who showed 100% no remorse. >> I'm not stoing anything. You haven't placed anything% right. >> 100% >> stuff that you took perfume. It's in my >> And when we check the video, there's not going to be anything else. >> No. On November 10th, 2025, police were dispatched to a home supply store after receiving a report about a woman who concealed merchandise inside her bra. Let's see what the employee knew about the incident. >> See, it's just potential. I can't see anything on camera, but very suspicious. Like very very see them on camera right now or >> Yeah, I can. But then they go in hiding spots. And then I actually saw the one girl, she put um a tester down her bra. >> A what? >> Tester like perfume testers down her bra. and then she ended up pulling out later on. So, that to me is like a big a big red flag. I mean, obviously she's trying to steal, but we've been walking it a lot. And I just didn't know maybe having one of you guys just walking it if it would help like deter them and make them >> Let me see what they look like. Okay. How long have they been here? >> They've probably been here for a good hour. >> But there was another girl, but she left. >> You have cameras in the parking lot by chance? >> Um, I do, but I haven't looked. >> If I could see a plate, that would probably help, too. But let me just see what they look like first. >> There's one right there. There's another one. She left. And then there's another one right there. She's the one that put the tester down her bra. >> Okay. So, we got like white Well, it's like purple short purple hair, but >> white cardigan and then a black hoodie. Those are the only two people that are here still. >> Yeah, she's gone. It's the guy and then the purple-haired girl. Um, but like I said, she did pull it out cuz they're both they were both here a couple times. She did pull it out later on cuz we I think she probably thinks that we suspect them stealing, >> right? >> But like I didn't know if and I told her on the phone that you guys didn't have to come out if you didn't want to. I just wanted someone just to walk the floor for a little bit if that was possible just to kind of >> I'll just go and talk to them and see what's going on. >> They're acting really suspicious. She did put the girl with the purple. She did put it in her bra and then she pulled it back out later on because we were all over there. So, I think she thinks that we are on to her type thing. >> Based on what was seen on the security cameras, police then approached the woman, one of the two suspects identified by the store. She appeared confused by their presence. >> Thank you. Yep. Thank you. Now, >> you you didn't happen to misplace anything, did you? When you're walking around in the store, we just got a call from a customer saying that you were acting a little suspicious, so I make sure that you weren't taking anything or anything like that. >> No, ma'am. I just Well, I was going to check out and my link card, but um they didn't know that they didn't take link card, but Okay. >> Um I didn't misplace anything. >> You don't have anything in the bag that belongs in the store or anything like that? No. Do >> you mind if I took a look? Um, I'm not gonna let you search my stuff, but just because there's other things in there, but nothing that I'm not stoing anything% right >> 100%. >> If you didn't steal anything, then is there a reason I can't look in the bag? >> I would prefer you to not search my stuff. >> Well, let us find out if you took something. It's not going to be a good deal. But if you want to just give it back now, we won't have any problems. Okay. >> There's nothing here that I take that I've taken. >> Would you mind letting me see your ID? >> I don't have my ID either. >> Can I just date of birth? >> I have a picture of it. Yeah. >> Okay. Awesome. Oh, it's Catherine. My name's Catherine. Oh, it's just voting cuz I don't have any service here. >> That's no problem. You want me to give you my name? I'm just going to show you a picture of the ID. >> Yeah, that's fine. You have the same information. >> I just need you to spell it for me. K A T H R Y N. >> Despite insisting on her innocence, the woman remained cautious toward the police. However, when officers stood close to her, they detected a suspicious odor. >> Where'd that perfume come from? Cuz it looks like it came from the store. I'm not going to lie. >> That is my perfume. >> Can I see it? Cuz it's in plain view. It's literally in plain view. And it's mine, right? I'm not hiding anything. >> Okay. >> Check the cameras. >> I have a name and date of birth when you're ready. >> Am I being detained or >> momentarily? >> Yeah, it's me. Not working. I have a name and date of birth when you're ready. >> Probable cause. >> Diaper bag cuz I have a child at home. Then >> why why did you bring the diaper bag in the store though? >> Be suspicious. For sure. >> I saw a perfume. >> Check the cameras, you know. I mean, >> I saw a perfume in her bag and which it was in plain view cuz the zipper was open. in plain view, right? I'm not hiding anything. >> But it it looked like a Yellowstone perfume that you got from the store. That's what they sell here. >> I don't know how you would have known that. Where are you at? >> I saw the emblem cuz your zipper was open. Is there probable cause to search your bag or no? We're going to have to get right. >> She's detained right now. >> I'm asking if I'm being detained and whatnot and they're wanting to search my bags and I said no. So, I'm just curious what my rights are. Okay. I can just leave. I don't know. Oh, we'll go speak with the stranger. >> She's revoked. I don't know who's driving without a PJ. >> That's fine. I'll be right back. >> Well, she's saying I'm being detained, you know. Don't know what that means exactly, but >> it's reasonable suspicion that you committed a crime. I'm just trying to figure things out. >> What does that mean, though? >> I have reasons to believe that you may have stole something, which is a crime. So, we're just hanging out for a second till we get everything figured out. You know, your boy's back there still in the dressing room. He's been back there for a while. >> Mike's still Yeah, Mike's still in the dressing room. Yeah, but he's got a wedding this weekend. They're just being dumb. I mean, they were suspicious or whatever they said. >> Up to that point, police still did not have sufficient legal grounds to conduct a search. So, they once again confirmed the situation with the employee to ensure everything. >> So, here's the deal. I just called a supervisor. I guess it's not enough for an officer to search them with just >> reasonable suspicion, but he said that you guys are 100% good with searching them. I do think that she has stuff in her backpack, in her diaper bag. She said there's like a little Yeah, she's got a backpack with her and a coat and a couple coats. I think she's stuffing stuff in. There's a little zipper on the front of the bag and it looks like a Yellowstone like perfume bottle. >> Yes, >> that is one of them that was missing. >> And that's like a full one that's on sale >> probably. It's a the tester one. >> Okay. Is that necessarily stealing if it's a tester? I don't really know how that works. >> Steal product. It's 50. >> We have to pay for it to put it out on the shelf. >> Well, if if you want to go up to them and tell them that you're searching them more than likely I mean do that though >> as an employee. My supervisor said that you could. But as officer standpoint with the legal thing, like we can't just go and search them, even though I saw a bottle in their bag, unfortunately. >> You did see a bottle in their bag. Is it open or No, >> it's in the front zipper. I think she closed it now, but it was definitely like the Yellowstone like why like rocker on like emblem on the top of the cap. >> Mhm. >> So, >> okay. Maybe I can just talk to her and be like, >> well, we're still going to wait for I guess her boy is still in the locker room or whatever or the dressing room. So, after we identify him and then we're going to try to get their license plate off the car, then we can circle back around and if you guys want to sweep through the surveillance and try to see if you have an actual like video for stealing something, then I can create a case and send it to the state's attorney and then she would end up have like a warrant for arrest. They're out of pean. So, it's like one of them deals. >> So, I need to make a call and see if if I'm even legally able to do that. I don't know if I can. basement. >> After consent for the search was granted, police returned and spoke more directly to the woman about their suspicions. And that was the moment she abandoned her earlier denial. >> But I just looked at the cameras. We got a video of you taking one of the testers off and sticking in your backpack. If you want to return the stuff that you took right now, it's not going to be a problem. Okay? Just give it back to the store. >> To get to my You need to get my daughter off the bus. So, if I admit to taking the tester, then what? >> If there's anything else, then >> if you if you return it, they're going to let her go, right? >> Yes. If you just return the stuff that you took perfume, it's in my >> And when we check the video, there's not going to be anything else. >> No, no, there's nothing else. This is our coat. There's nothing inside the coats or inside the main backpack, right? >> It's male that's walking around with you. >> He's in the dressing room. And I don't know. I thought what he was buying was in the car to be honest. >> So, and then I was like, "Well, I'm going in the car. So, what are you doing to put stuff in the car?" And he said, "I'm trying on another sweater." So, I don't I don't know. He's just a friend. I don't know. Unfortunately, we have to wait for him to come over here. So, >> why? >> You came in together and you're going to leave together? >> Well, you're still detained. Did you guys come in the same vehicle? >> Yeah. >> Um, well, kind of. Our friend met us here. I walked over here because I was down at the bus stop and then he rode with her. So, I really actually didn't even come with him. >> We came in the same vehicle. >> I walked here vehicle and not with him. I just I need to get my daughter from school bus. >> Right. You know why it would be taking him so long? >> I don't know. at a wedding grocery tree trying. >> The woman then admitted her actions, but also provided information about the man who was with her. Shortly afterward, another officer approached him as well. >> Do you real quick, boss? Oh, yeah. >> First up, quick walking up on me. You got your ID on you? >> I do not. >> Don't have wallet, ID, nothing on you at all. >> Have anything on me? No. >> Okay. Sorry. >> Were you with that uh female pushing a card around? Had your uh your code in it? >> Yeah, I wasn't with her. I was just >> You're not with her, but she's carrying your stuff around. It was I had >> All right, let's let's walk up to the front of the store. >> I had stuff in the same car as her. >> Okay. All right. Let's walk up to the front of the store. If you're not in here taking nothing. >> No. Sure. We had No, I just come here. I was needing to get some stuff and then send in the insurance for we could have cuz we had a house fire not too long ago. So, >> when'd you have the house fire? >> Oh, it was probably about four or five months ago, but I got to get insurance gave us certain amount of money and so now if we want anything more than what they cuz some stuff like pants and stuff, they give you like five bucks and stuff, right? Right. >> And it's like 50 to replace. So >> I I get it. So you're not buying any of that. >> I I was going to, but >> you're free to buy whatever you want. >> Oh, that's fine. Uh we can talk or whatever. >> There's another officer up here. She's conducting an investigation right now. Okay. >> We're here at the front. >> It's kind of a common thing for people to stack clothing underneath their clothing in a in a fitting room. >> Immediately after bringing the man over to the woman, the female officer then intended to check the woman's bag. And that was when several other concealed items appeared. All righty. Thanks. >> But I got to search the rest of your stuff. Probable cause. Not a yes or no question anymore. I don't need consent. So, I'm just going to take a quick look and we can get you try to get you on your way. >> Are you in Havana right now? >> Okay. Well, I'm at farming home and I'm not going to be able to meet you right now. So, just go to the appointment. Call me. >> Can I get an employee over here? I'll just tell you this is this is it. Okay. I got to go. Bye. Sorry. I'm just going to cuz I have to go to my friend's [ __ ] This is a lot of stuff right here that you took and you lied to me. >> This is mine. >> This is it. This >> I have to go there. >> This is all your stuff. >> This is all your stuff. >> And that's why I didn't want you to search my bag because I've got >> So I'm not getting anything back with that name and date of birth. >> Are you going to arrest me or something? I have to make sure there's nothing else in here. Is this your coat or is this something? >> Okay. Yeah. I'm going to need you to keep all this separate until I come back uh later and figure out how much this is all worth and everything like that if you can. >> Okay. >> But I need a vehicle. How'd you get >> That's theirs. Yeah. >> And this mine. Sorry. That's it. I just didn't dump out the whole back here. >> Well, how about you let me look cuz this is taking a little longer than what I'd like it to. >> We came separately. We came separately. I came I got I came in. I was shopping on my own. You don't watch the cameras. I didn't I didn't take anything. I didn't do anything wrong. You can check my You can search me. Whatever. >> You give me consent to search you? >> Sure. >> Just put your hands right right up on top of your hat. >> In the end, the man was determined to be uninvolved in the incident. He was trespassed from the store but was not arrested. The woman was charged with retail theft. Attempting to deny or conceal wrongdoing only deepened suspicion. While cooperation earlier could have prevented far more serious consequences. Next, meet the woman with her extensive experience facing the police. >> She said she bought if she got four items. Tide, TV, and trash bag. >> I don't want to touch nobody. I have a flesh, too. >> I got you. >> All right. That's why I don't want to do that. >> On April 23rd, 2024, police responded to a report of an ongoing theft at Walmart. Upon arriving at the scene, they saw the suspect attempting to leave and immediately blocked her path. >> Ma'am, sit back in your car. >> Okay, I paid for this. >> Okay, sit back in your car. We'll figure this out in a second. >> All right, here. Pull up a couple more for you so I can get behind you. >> Okay. Central Park. Stop, bro. >> Yeah, just for now. >> Okay. Can I talk to you for a second? >> Yeah. No, we're going to Trust me, we're going to figure it all out. You got your DL on you real quick? >> No, I don't. >> I had just bought this car. >> Okay. Just here. Sit down. Relax for a second. Okay. >> I have a flesh eating bacteria, sir. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Yep. I see. >> And I had came here to get this stuff. >> Okay. >> I just bought this car. The dude that I bought it from went to jail. >> Okay. So, problems with Let's go in the AP office. What? No, cuz I didn't do nothing. >> Well, you know what? Fine. >> But here's here's what we're going. >> I don't want my car towed and stuff cuz I need my stuff. >> All right. All right. I'll try and help you as much as I can. >> I don't want to touch nobody have a flesh in here. >> I got you. All right. >> That's why I don't want to do that. >> Clearly, the woman had no intention of cooperating, using even her bacterial infection as an excuse to prevent police from touching her. It was noted that this was not her first encounter with law enforcement. >> Hey, so what's your uh what's your first name? >> Maria. I have a warrant in Collinsville, but they told me all I had to do was come in and that's what I planned on doing yet tomorrow. >> Maria, what's your name? >> Before I went into the hospital. >> What's your mail and >> I don't have one. Sorry. >> What's your last name? >> I don't got no lighter. >> I got you. You got a phone number? >> Um, >> okay. Let's figure out I'm going figure out what's going on. >> I didn't steal nothing. I >> copy one. 27 29. >> All right. What's up, man? That's fine. >> This is >> Did she actually get the stuff or >> Yeah, the girls the girls metal. >> Okay. I just need some mail to get here. >> Yeah. >> So, what did she buy? >> She's looking for a lighter. >> Yeah, it looks like >> she got the TV. >> Yeah, it looks like she got the TV. She got a bunch of stuff. Other stuff like the vacuum and ties and stuff like that. >> What did she not pay for? >> That's what I believe she didn't pay for. The girls know. Uh >> we got to find out. But this is what she did pay for. >> Yeah. Okay. Correct. The woman's claims were completely at odds with what the store employees reported, but in the loss prevention office, police learned further that this was not her first offense. >> This is a fun one. >> All right, just kidding. What we got? >> So, she paid for this stuff. >> She all the time. >> She had way more stuff. This her third time this week >> that she stole? >> Yes. She only got caught today. >> Well, they got four items on her. >> She pushed out a uh a TV where on Sunday? >> Well, the TV She's got a TV on there. >> Yeah. No, no, she she bought a TV today, but I'm saying >> she pushed out Sunday. A TV. >> Okay. >> So, you have video of all that everything? >> Yep. >> Okay. >> I'm trying to get her coming in because she saying she came in with all that stuff. She did not. >> They said she's what? >> She said she came in with all that stuff in her room. >> All right. All right, let's see what's going on before we >> But you did the video, >> huh? The video were walking out with it. >> Yeah, I know the charm that she did >> because if if she tried to make an argument to one of you guys that she came here with the stuff, right? Then we need the first thing we need to do is validate she walked in the store or not. >> Yep. Cuz look, that's her. >> Yep. >> And that's all the stuff. >> That's a whole different I don't know. [Music] In fact, the store employees had thoroughly tracked the woman, what she took, and even what she did with the items she had stolen. >> Still a vacuum every time, so I knew that vacuum was on there. She reselling the stuff on Facebook. She explaining to them to explain her. >> Got more officers out there. Yep. >> Are they making her come in? There she is. >> All right. Yep. Let me see. >> Let me see who's other item. We're going to make her watch, too. All right. So, I see. Oh, yeah. >> All right. So, that's at least >> closet. Pause it. >> All right. Yeah. Just stay right there. >> Yep. And she said she bought She got four items. Tide, TV, and trash bag. >> So, she paid for Tide. She paid for the hefty trash. >> Okay. >> And she got the TV. >> But we have She has plugins. She has brief air. So, this is what 1347. Just leave it right there. Okay. 126 135. >> She thought I wanted to come in here during the day. >> All right. She ain't come in here. So, >> okay. Let me stand back here. >> All right. So, you can see right there. She's only paid for the TV, the Tide, the Hefty. Yeah, >> that vacuum is not paid for. >> Okay. So, she's telling us she came in the store with the vacuum right there. >> She walked in 1322 and nothing. We also we got to do another case on her for third Sunday, right? Sunday. She pushed out on Sunday. >> She did. >> How much? >> Probably around3 $400. >> Thus, all of her offenses were fully documented. Yet, she still believed she could go undetected and continued to obstruct the officers. >> All right, ma'am. Those things some of those stuff that y'all got is my stuff that I got from a different store a long time ago. >> Receipt. >> I can't get the receipt when I bought them weeks ago. >> Them vitamins are mine and one of them are open. >> They came from Walmart and Grand City. I can show you one of them. My >> [ __ ] If they wasn't on the receipt, they shouldn't be in that bucket. >> I'm [ __ ] down. If we can find out your >> hand here, look. Set it down. >> Clean my own. >> Here, set that down for no >> here. Look. Stand up. Stand up and turn around. >> No. >> You I'm putting you in handcuffs. >> Why? >> Because you already because y'all take it so it's not mine. >> Okay. Well, we'll figure that out. But you're going You have to stand up. Put your hands on the back. >> Stand up. Come on. >> Why y'all putting me in jail? >> I'm Well, I'm going to take you to the department and we're going to interview. I'm going to book you there. And then we're >> What's going to happen to my car? >> I'm not going to tow the car. >> Can I move it somewhere else? We'll take that. >> You have a cell phone with me? >> No, I don't. >> I don't have anything. >> You have anybody holds over? >> No. >> No. Listen. Can I call somebody to come? Hold on. Can I call somebody to come get it? >> Yeah, you can. Can I get the phone? >> I don't have a phone. Clearly, she deliberately complicated everything, seemingly trying to delay the moment she would be handcuffed, even acting as if she fully understood what would happen upon her arrest. >> Not want that. >> You know what? I'm getting out of jail tomorrow. >> If they That's because here's the thing is listen with these people with the jail um with the jail, their their main their main goal is keeping that out of the population. Okay. >> But y'all still don't take me. >> Well, no. So, I'm taking you to a Fallon. Okay. We're going to go to a Fallon and then I'm going to book you and we're going to interview you and then I'm going to release you. That's pro Fallon side. >> What do the car? >> Well, we're going to we're going to let you park it here. >> We're not going to We're not going to tow it. Well, he's going to come back. He's got >> I'm going to lose my car. I don't give a >> sit down. All right. Just sit down till we're done. >> Okay. If Listen, normally if that car got towed for a felony retail theft, which is a felony, it would be $500 to get it out of town. If officer Goodman's letting you park it on the lot, he is we he is cutting you a >> I don't want to lose my car. I don't care if I got to walk. So after after we do the So after we do the old salad thing. Yes. So it's going to be two things. Either I'm going to let you go and somebody's going to pick you up, bring it back to your car, or you're going to Yeah, I'm good. Or you're going to go be transported to Collinsville. >> I ain't going to transport. Collinsville already know about me. >> Right. So if they don't, that's fine. But I got to take you back. All right. So the more cooperative you are, I'm helping you out with the car. Okay. Sorry, I appreciate that. >> Under the officer's persuasion, she reluctantly accepted being handcuffed, though with great resistance. >> Not today. I'm still in the damn pan. >> All right. So, I'm just going to scare you in the car for now. All right. Let's turn around and then we'll figure out the rest of this. All right. [Music] >> Not too tight. Is that all right? 135 one female in custody. Hold on, ma'am. I got I got to check it real quick. All right. I just got to check. You don't have anything else on you. Do you? >> Oh, go on my I got a razor blade in there. >> Do you? >> Yeah. This right here. >> Which one? >> Right there. >> I keep it on me. >> Where? Right underneath this. >> Yep. It's white. It's a razor blade. >> Well, you can't grab it. It's inside. >> Yeah, this a razor blade. This is a straight razor. >> Why do you have a straight razor? >> Because I'm black and I go through a lot of stuff. >> Heard that. Um >> the woman was charged with misdemeanor retail theft and resisting an officer without violence. Always cooperate fully with law enforcement. Attempting to evade responsibility or manipulate the situation only worsens consequences. While honesty and compliance can help mitigate the outcome, in the next case, shoplifterss with nothing but staged fake surprise. >> All right, here's the deal. You got a warrant. Okay. >> Yeah. So, go around. Try to put your hand behind your back. Okay. Put this back. >> Yep. >> You got a bad >> It's full of stuff. >> On January 17th, 2024, police stopped a vehicle with an expired license plate. While the two people inside were also suspects in a retail theft spree. Watch what happened next as officers approached. Ma'am, how you doing? >> I'm officer Gonzalez Police Department. I stopped you today. Uh, I didn't see a play at first, but once I lit you up, I saw that the you had the temp tag. It is expired, though. Okay. Um, do you have a reason for that at all? I just haven't got around to it. I >> haven't got around. >> Okay, that's fine. It's not a big deal. I just need your driver's license and your insurance. Okay. >> It's her It's her truck. It's her driver. I mean, it's her truck. I'm a good driver. >> Okay, that's fine. You're the driver, though, so I got to identify you, too. Okay. >> She got my license. She ain't got my driver's license. I mean, it's ID. What are you guys up to tonight? Heading in the house to go pick up the grand. >> At least it's a little bit warmer than it has been. >> Yeah, man. That's fine. >> Okay. Do you have insurance on this vehicle, man? >> I do. >> Okay. >> It's expired also. >> That's fine. Where you guys uh you guys living in Illinois or over in Missouri? >> Missouri. >> Okay. Is this still a good address for you guys over on? >> Okay. >> All righty. Just die for me. I'll be right back. All right. >> The women still believed they were only being accused of a simple traffic violation, but moments later, police delivered a shocking surprise. >> Go ahead, man. Can you hop out of the car for me real quick? Yes, sir. >> All right. Here's the deal. You got a warrant. Okay. >> Yeah. Yeah. So, go around. Try to put your hand behind her back. Okay. Put that Yeah. Drop that cigarette for me. I'm not sure where it's through, but it's for shoplifting. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Also, >> you just shoplift her from Walmart as well. >> Okay. >> We got you on video. >> You're wearing the same shoes. >> Same clothes. >> Same clothes, same everything. >> So, what we're going to go All right. Come with me. He said, "I got a warrant." >> Oh my god. >> You're lying. >> What do I have on the way? You're kidding me. Oh my god. >> Dude, you're lying. >> I'm not lying at all. This is not something that we just This is not something we just say. Don't have it in here. >> Just taking your property off. Okay. >> Oh man, that's crazy. >> I know. I might have a warrant inside of her. >> Yeah. Both of you came back with warrants. Okay. >> This suspect appeared utterly confused by what was unfolding, while the second suspect also denied everything with an intensely frustrated demeanor. I I don't got a choice. I got I I got to I don't have I don't have a choice. Okay. >> You have to tow my car. >> I have to. I I'll go check I'll go check those warrants for you. Okay. >> Please check the warranties. I don't have any. >> Come back here real quick. Put her in my car. Okay. Good. >> Oh my god. Sir, I don't even have any ones. What is the one for? >> Uh shop thing. >> Where? >> I don't know where it's through or what it is, but we'll find out here in a second. Okay. >> Please tell me cuz I don't have anyone. >> Just hang one second for me. All right. Now I'm nervous. I don't have any points. >> Where's that from? >> That's my other visa. The visa card that I have. >> You already search. >> I don't have anything. for me. >> I don't have any wood. What do I have a wound for? >> I'm not, like I said, it's for shoplifting. I don't know who it's through or when it was issued, but we're going to figure that out. Okay. All right. Go have a seat for me. >> Oh my god. My truck. Jesus. Oh my god. >> After arresting both suspects, police inspected the truck they had been driving, and it appeared that all the earlier confusion and denial were nothing more than an act. All the booze in the back has the alarm still on it. >> All the booze in the back of the truck has the alarm still on it. [Applause] Yep, there it is. Yep. >> It's full of stuff. >> Yep. >> That's the same backpack. >> Yep. Silver accents. Take this. Wow. All of it was the very evidence that proved shoplifting had taken place as officers then explained to each other what they had investigated. >> All the stuff in the bags from Walmart in the back. >> The backpack. Everything. >> What about What about the house? >> She said she got it from her mother. >> Yeah. >> What I think is 500 bucks. She >> Yeah. And she's mad cuz it's her car. She was the one driving, but she's >> she's revoked, too. So, >> and there's no insurance, though. >> Shut up. >> Um, registration valid? >> Nope. >> Nope. It's expired. >> Oh, nice. >> Yeah. >> July of last year. >> So, yeah, >> dude. They were just in front of me. I was like, >> you want to know why? Cuz they live over in St. Louis. >> They were charged with retail theft. Dishonesty and denial only deepen the consequences. Evidence always surfaces, and once it does, excuses no longer matter. Worse, the man learned a hard lesson from this theft. He >> comes in here all the time. He'll fill up buggies and he'll just leave it. He just walked around. Okay. What? What is the problem? Why you me, bro? >> On November 18th, 2025, police received a call from Walmart regarding a theft. The suspect was a man attempting to conceal items on his person, unaware that officers were watching him through surveillance alongside store employees. >> Okay. >> But I don't know 100% that he didn't already have that. Okay, >> that's fine. Um, >> you want you want he comes in here all the time. He'll fill up buggies and he'll just leave it. I think he just walked around. >> Okay. >> You want to do a formerly do it? >> Um, we'll we'll do it. I I'll go make contact with him. >> Okay. >> He's on the other side. She's just going to bar him right now. We're going to check and see if he's got uh he's got a can of compressed air that he's been puffing in his jacket sleeve. If it's theirs, we'll we'll go about it from there. Uh walking out. >> No, he was just hanging out right over there. [Music] It's a gray puffer jacket, gray pants. So they Best's not sure if that if he had that can on him when he came in, but he they know he's picked up some since he's been in here. >> Based on the gathered description, police quickly approached the suspect who was immediately taken by surprise. >> What is the problem? Why you touching me, bro? Stop. >> Going on to get tased. >> Why did I What did I do? >> Put your hand behind your back. >> Put your hands behind. >> Listen to it. Put your hands behind your back. >> Tase me. >> Put your hands behind your back and >> we'll explain everything to you in one sec. >> Oh, hey. Fine. Sorry. Sorry. That was stupid. It was. >> It was very stupid. >> No, I'm fine. I'm good. >> Don't try to kick. >> I'm not kicking. I'm good. Roll over on your stomach. Oh my god, bro. >> You got Chris? >> Yeah. >> I got help. >> I didn't do >> relax. >> I didn't even walked in with that when I was when I walked in. >> Put your other hand behind your back. >> Fine. Sorry you were on me. How could I put a buck in my bag when you were on me? >> Sorry. I didn't mean to resist, but like I didn't I didn't do anything. >> He had bitten and even kicked the officers. Yet now he acted innocent, pretending he had not resisted at all. And even during the escort, he claimed the police were overreacting. >> Am I doing decent exposure cuz my pants fall down? >> Well, I'm not in the mood to do any favors right now. >> Well, I don't get why so mad. My hands out, please. >> Hold on. >> Okay. >> All right. We're take this arm out of cuffs and take your backpack off. All right. >> Get the jacket off. Let's take the jacket off. [Music] not homeless. >> Where you usually stay at >> streets? No. >> What's you say on the east side, west side? >> North. >> Okay. You ever been barked with this Walmart before? >> You ever been arrested for shoplife before? >> We're at Bridge. Walmart over there. >> How long ago was that? >> Um, sorry. I've been homeless. >> Um, I don't know, like a month ago. >> Okay. How long you been homeless? A >> month and a half, 2 months. >> Where were we at before that? >> Michigan. >> What brought you down here? >> Rehab. >> The man's circumstances could very well explain why he stole. And moreover, at this point, he was not hiding the crimes he had committed. >> What you in rehab for? What uh what rehab facility were you at? >> I know I went I showed up there at no longer bound and I gave my bed up last time I got there. Probably that my family will figure it out on your own. >> Gotcha. Why' they send you down here for rehab? >> I don't know cuz there's no good rehabs in Michigan. Do you know about our other places down here? Has anybody ever told you anything about like like uh advantage? >> Um crisis center, >> huh? >> Crisis center. >> Yeah. >> I I went there twice. The second time they kicked me out after one day cuz I didn't buy enough system. >> Okay. >> You have to have opiates in your system to stay, which makes no sense, but whatever. >> So, we got some other uh some other rehab places. So, >> I'm going home. supposed to go tomorrow anyways. >> How you getting home? >> My dad's buying me a ticket. >> Okay. Where bus ticket? Plane ticket. >> A bus plane ticket. >> I'm just going to do rehab at state random place in Michigan. >> Okay. >> That way I'm not 15 hours away from home. >> Yeah. >> What you got? >> I just want to let you know that you're going to be which it doesn't matter if you're leaving, but you're going to be barred from our location for a period of 2 years. That's everything at 4375 Lexington Road. um this whole entire complex. If we see you back here, then we're going to call them back and have your permission for us. Okay. >> That was the store's decision regarding the man's actions, and it seemed to be exactly what he wanted. He appeared quite pleased with it. >> No trouble looking or anything. >> Ow, my face hurts. That hurt. Sorry. >> I think that's your beanie. >> My beanie. Thank you. >> All right. Let's head to the pharmacy. >> He's fine. I just He's just fine. I'll just >> No meds. >> No, fine. Get him somewhere else. Thank you guys. >> He just wants some. >> So, >> if you want to push it, I mean, >> figure out if we ever use the force. >> We need to figure out if he's got >> But everything changed at the last minute. After reviewing the surveillance footage of the arrest, the police decided to confront the man again with charges of resisting an officer. >> Listen, I'm good. Paperwork I run out. >> Just have a seat. >> Okay. >> Cuz I don't want you taking off on me if I got to do some paperwork. Okay, that's it. >> That's not going to be illegal anyways, would it? I mean, >> go ahead. Stand for stand up. >> What's up? >> Stand up behind your back. >> Why? behind your back. All right. >> What? What happened? >> One more let you know here in just a second. Okay. >> What? Now what? >> What? Can you tell me now? What? What? Why now? >> All right. So, it's going to be >> I do believe it's going to be for the obstruction. Okay. >> Obstruction of what? >> What does that mean? >> When you try to fight us. >> I didn't try to fight you. I didn't know what was going on. We're going to go back over here. >> Obstruction. Are you serious? >> Obstruction? Are you serious? That's insane. Maybe I try to fight you guys. What would you do if someone just grabbed you from behind? I mean, what was I supposed to even say you were cop? The man was then taken to jail to be booked. In addition to being barred from Walmart for 2 years, the suspect was also charged with resisting and obstructing justice. So, as you can see, he could have easily left the store if he hadn't resisted. Cooperating from the start would have led to a much better outcome. Next up, let's watch the outcome of the woman desperately trying to change her fate. >> We are ready to play. >> That's not how it works. You guys are going to get arrested. >> If we never visit again, can you please leave us? >> No, that's not how it works. Unfortunately, we have to arrest you. Okay. On March 19th, 2024, police were dispatched to a retail store following reports of two Indian women committing theft. Upon approach, both were taken to the loss prevention office, indicating this was not their first offense. >> Hi there. >> How you doing? >> Date of birth next to it. Just this row seat combined. >> Yes. 155. >> Okay. >> They're they're repeat offenders. Not for this time. >> Repeat. >> Yeah. They didn't get caught last time cuz they got spooked. They just dropped it and ran out. >> Gotcha. >> All right. Um, same thing. >> Just so everybody knows about canon. Okay. >> Okay. Uh, we just like came out to purchase a Pepsi. >> Outside Pepsi. Everything was there, right? >> Yes, we were. >> We forgot the Pepsi to take inside. We going to build like few things and we came out to take Pepsi. Going to build all the cart. >> Yeah. >> In between he came to you. >> Basically what they did is get the stuff. >> He had everything outside the >> bag. They had everything outside of the >> No, they had everything outside the car like outside bags and then they went into the house. What was I think 20? >> Wait, do you have the footage? >> Yeah. Yeah, let's watch it together. >> We have paid for limited. Like, >> can I just close the door? Close it. Close the door. You can stay. I'm just asking you to close the door. Thank you. >> The women offered their excuses, but at this point, the police had already reviewed the footage, which clearly contradicted their story. >> They brought the outside bags in is what you're saying. And they put stuff in the bags. >> Yeah, they put in the reusable bag right there. Okay. Same thing. [Music] You have IDs on you? >> No. >> No. >> How old are you? >> I'm 20. >> And you? >> 22. >> Okay. and we are ready to pay the whole >> That's not how it works. >> You guys are going to get arrested if it shows that you guys are walking out. >> Whatever. >> So, they paid half of it with their sink. Why would you pay for two? >> Two items and then walked out with the rest of them. >> We need to get the >> So, you only paid for some things in your cart and some things were unpaid. >> Yeah. Okay. And then you walked out. >> We didn't walked out. We're going to take outside. I would say the big bottles were there. We're going to >> What are they talking about Pepsi being outside? What is that? What are they talking about? >> Supposedly they go get Pepsi outside. >> They want to go get Pepsi. >> We don't have a >> What Pepsi are you talking about? >> Sorry. >> What Pepsi are you talking about? >> Pepsi bottles at the entrance. >> Entrance. We have few lace and chips kind of thing, right? >> Few items outside. >> So immediately after reviewing the footage of their actions, it became clear that they had attempted to pay for only half of the items. But when questioned in detail, all their explanations remained completely confused. >> So you went outside with the cart after paying. But why did you pay for a couple things and then leave? >> Because >> you forgot the entire item that you also got. >> Yeah. >> I'm sorry. That's not believable. So we have to pay for it all at one time. Where's your money going to come from? >> I have. She have. I have. So then why did you pay when you pay for when to bring the city? We have a few items. That doesn't make sense. >> That makes no sense. There she goes. >> I'm serious. >> That makes absolutely no sense. Just so that you know. That sounds crazy. You're making up excuses. You just admit that you weren't. You tried to pay for half and leave for half. That's what it is. >> If you had the money, you should have paid for everything. Put it in your car. Can't >> put the milk and everything else in the front. She just forgot about it. >> They have $800. >> I'm going to send you a link. You know, the process already you guys have done this before. >> And did they have done it before? When did he do it? >> Okay. >> This was like a while >> and it was never reported. >> I was like, "No, I never got reported cuz I was going home." So, I just >> Yes. Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. So, we're going to Okay. So, what happened is you paid for half in your car unpaid items. >> No, this is how it works. You're getting arrested. You're coming down to the police station. You're going to sign a form. You are no longer allowed to come to Shopright. Shopight. You're not welcome here. >> The women appeared unaware of the severity of the situation. seemingly still trying to salvage something for themselves, forcing the police to reiterate the consequences. >> So, there's no Take a second. Yeah, >> just let us be first and then you guys will have >> There's no debate. You guys are getting arrested. We are going to handcuff you. We are going to search your person. Anything that's on you, we're going to put Excuse me, I'm talking. >> We'll take your information. We'll bring you down to headquarters. We're going to type up charges. We're going to send it to the courts. Sometimes the courts will let you go free with a court date. Sometimes you go to jail. That's up to them to decide. >> Uh, can I? >> Uh, we have an ID, >> like college ID card. >> Okay. Okay, that's okay. I'll take your information. You have a social security number? >> No. >> Okay. So, we'll take your information. We'll run we'll we'll try to get as much information from you and and get you in the system. Have you been arrested before? >> No. No. >> Nothing. >> So, most likely you'll be able to leave today after we do your paperwork on a summon, which is a paper. We'll give you a court date. Okay. But for now, what we need you to do is sign the papers saying that you're not going to return papers in front of you. Sign them with your name and we're going to arrest you. We're going to bring you to our headquarters. >> What they pay for? >> Okay. Everything that you paid for these two items. >> Do you understand that? So please, ma'am, sign the papers in front of you. >> We can take these. >> If you're not going to sign it, that's fine. We're going to arrest you either way. >> You're you're being recorded. So you sign the paper say that you will not come to the shop ever again. Please sign the paper. >> The women tried to change the outcome by claiming they intended to pay for the remaining items but could not. And then she attempted to plead with another unreasonable request. >> They came in and then >> we never visit again. Can you please leave us? >> No, that's not how it works. Unfortunately, we have to arrest you. Okay. It's there's no it's not like a >> we'll give you a chance. That's not how it works. >> Double charges. >> That doesn't matter. You can offer as much money as you want, but you still have to get arrested for the charges for the crime you committed. That's not how it works. You can't just >> You shouldn't pay for it. >> Can you please stand up for me? >> We don't want to make this hard or difficult. Let's just >> you step you sit. Sit. We'll do one at a time. >> You have anything on you or no? >> Sure. >> Anything pockets? >> No. >> Okay. >> I'm going to put your phone in. [Music] I'm going to put your phone in this bag. Okay. All right. Um, I'll just message you the link and Okay. Thank you. Thank you. >> Yeah. I just sent them my >> Shortly afterward, the women were escorted to the police station. >> Watch video footage and you were leaving the store with unpaid items. So, that's shoplifting. Once you walk once you pass the registers and you walk out that door, anything that's unpaid is is stealing. They're the repeated offenders, so they know exactly what they're doing. >> They're they're face making whichever one writes the report here. Hold on. In the end, they were charged with shoplifting. Always be fully aware of the seriousness of one's actions. Attempting to excuse or minimize wrongdoing only worsens the situation and can lead to formal charges and lasting consequences. Next, the man's eyes were opened to what the police had uncovered. Stop this. >> On March 22nd, 2024, police responded to a highly suspicious report at a Menard store where security staff had discovered a vehicle with tape covering its license plate in exterior details. and the occupant was identified as James, a 40-year-old man with a criminal history dating back to 2000. And upon arriving at the scene, officers approached the vehicle and realized that a female driver was still inside. >> Hey, what's up with the tape on your car? >> Is there tape on my car? >> On the plate? Yeah. I was just curious. >> I'm so sorry. >> Well, I was just curious. I don't know. >> Workers have been messing with my car. I didn't realize it. I'm sorry. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I work in I just started a new job. Oh, yeah. I was just driving by and I saw there's tapes. I don't know if you were aware of it. >> No, I was not. I'm I'm sorry. I'll take it off right now. >> Yeah, I can just step off quick. >> Yeah. >> Are you waiting for someone in the store? >> No, I s my parents had called, so I I didn't I don't like driving on my phone, so >> that's fine. >> Yeah. >> You just want to take it off quick? >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Oh my gosh. I didn't even realize that I drove How embarrassing. >> That's on here, too. Do you It's on your decals and your >> Oh my god. Jesus. >> Is this your car? >> It is. Yes. >> All right. >> Oh my gosh. >> Well, then now you won't get stopped. So >> Jesus, that that's embarrassing, though. >> It's all right. You have a good day. >> Yeah. You, too. >> Yeah. We'll see you. >> There were many signs suggesting this was a theft followed by a getaway with an accomplice waiting in the car. So, police waited at a distance out of the woman's sight while continuing to monitor the man's actions through surveillance cameras. According to surveillance, he loaded the cart with a chainsaw and various construction tools, then quickly pushed it outside because he noticed the presence of police. And that was when the hurried chase began to run Westward's lane. What a Are you kidding me? Is he a mustache on us? Stop. What are you doing? You're >> under arrest. Put your hands behind her back. You're under arrest. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Stop tensing up. Feels good. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Big mustache. >> I don't know. >> The officers quickly apprehended the male suspect, but at the same time, they noticed that the woman in the vehicle was also showing signs of fleeing. >> Where's that car? >> Hide something. >> Let's go get that car, too. >> Here. You go. That's Matt has them arriving together. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> 41. We have Matt's one meal detained. >> What's her name? >> Roll on your side, man, so you can breathe. >> What's her name? I'm going to try and stop that car that he showed up in. It's going to island right now by quick trip. >> Roll to your side, dude. Roll to your side so you can breathe. Now, let's sit up. Ready, James? That ain't your name. We're going to find your name out, man. Why don't you tell us? >> This is James. All right. Here. Let's get them out. >> Yeah. All right. Stand up. Two. One. >> You got warrants or anything or what? What? >> No. Probation? >> Just probation? I thought you had a fake mustache on when you were running. >> You want to grab I'm going to grab my paperwork that went flying. You all right? The man showed no remorse for what he had done and he became completely unstable after the chase to an almost incomprehensible extent. >> You all right? >> What? Don't report. >> What is it? >> This is what your friend is. Who you're referring to? >> Yeah. Thank you for telling me. You got Sigs on you. >> Keep digging your breath, man. >> Nothing. Okay, hold up. >> My water bottle. >> Is that yours? >> Yeah. >> Graham ran it over. >> You ran it over? >> Yeah. >> Yeti didn't last, man. Could have been a great Yeti commercial if it would have survived it, but he ran her over. Did you tuck anything in your jeans at all or no? >> Deep breaths. You got to take breaths, man. Longer breaths. Hold them. Breathing fast doesn't help. So, if you take deep breaths, that's going to help a lot better. >> In through the nose, out through the >> Yep. Ready? Yep. real deep, man. >> While calming the suspect down, officers discovered that he was fully capable of purchasing the items, yet he still chose to steal based on what they found inside his wallet. >> Well, let's catch our breath before we start smoking, man. >> We should have a bottle in the back. >> Yeah, I want to catch his breath a little bit here first. >> Stealing, you got all this money, man. >> Are you good? Okay. Is there anything else I miss in your waistband, dude? >> Thank you. >> Uh, did you find the silver sticker? >> No. 48. Myself, 41 are out with Eddie and Mards. Got to aim for you. >> There's one. Not >> that I can find. Last of James. You have a a butt here. >> Okay. >> If you can try it. >> Oh, no. You want it? You certainly can. Nothing in here, dude. >> Well, you want to sit in the car as you're not standing? Maybe you can keep the door open so you can catch your breath still. Just a little warmer. What was that? >> Get your breath on, man. >> All right. Hey. >> Hey, got some water. >> I'm I don't want to get too much or you cough it up. >> Good. >> With the suspect's actions now clearly established, LP staff stepped in to present the store's decision. While the man appeared to believe that the situation was not serious at all. >> You from Lacrosse? >> Do you come from Black River to come here? >> Yeah. >> He just like scatter everything. Both doors open. >> Do you have your ID? >> I I have it over here. >> Can I use it to fill out a trespass? You're no longer welcome at any location. Just spell it out. >> I mean, I would like to write it down. They ask for the ID. >> Well, I have to have your permission. Is that okay if I do that? >> I can do it right here in front of you. >> Should give me just a ticket. >> You're being trespassed from Menards. >> This is just all civil through them. This isn't us. This is allards. >> Yeah. >> It's funny how she waited so long and then decided to leave though. >> Well, she moved. He He was watching her, too, and she like changed parking spots facing this. Well, >> I thought Matt, you walked up to the vehicle, didn't you? >> Yeah. After we arrested him. You've been arrested here in Lacrosse before. 2005. >> Long time ago. What are you on probation for? >> Got multiple stuff going all the way back. >> She's like, I don't know why I have to give you my you're his ride. You're not in trouble with me. >> I can always try and call her and see. >> Well, I mean, you already had her and everything so. >> Yeah, I checked your DL photo on there. >> Yeah, besides like flying through. >> If she would have say unless she Yeah, if she would have Well, you don't have you can only >> She doesn't have any. No. And like I said, I mean, unless the only way he would have party, too, is if Oh, I mean, I guess she covered her plate. And I I mean, you could. I think you you would have enough. James was charged only with misdemeanor counts of retail theft and resisting or obstructing an officer, and he was released a few days later. One sec. >> Can you get my purse out the car, please? [Music] You all got the same facilities out there? >> It is highly likely that all four women were part of a theft ring as the mess inside the vehicle revealed the haste and speed of their actions when police inspected it. >> I'm assuming so, unless they were throwing it out the window. Sounds like a PSLV guy was staying on pretty good. 05. Thank you. These are about 50 bucks a piece. >> Yeah. >> He's got like seven or eight of them up here. He's got over. We take pictures and stuff yet? >> Yeah, let me take pictures. >> At this point, each suspect was questioned about the incident. And astonishingly, all of the women turned out to be members of the same family. >> All right, so fill me in. What's going on? >> You were passenger, right? You weren't driver. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Okay. Who was driving? Good. >> All of us sisters definitely. So the younger sister >> like blood sisters. >> Yeah. All of us though. Same. >> Yeah. In the end, the suspects were charged with grand theft. Organized theft inevitably leads to serious legal consequences. Attempting to flee or deny responsibility only worsens the outcome. Next, the thief tried to show his cleverness, but it clearly wasn't enough. >> What did he say his name was? >> Hey. Hey. On March 8th, 2025, police responded to a report from a local supermarket about two suspects filling their carts with items, but with no intention to pay. Then one of them fled. So, we're just trying to figure out what's going on. >> Five, six, and seven. You speak Spanish. >> Hold on. Hold on. Give us a minute. We're trying to investigate something. Don't leave. All right. We got to investigate something. All right. >> 916 from 917. >> Clearly, the man understood everything the officers were saying. Yet, he continued to feain ignorance, pretending not to know anything, deliberately making it difficult for the police to handle the supposed language barrier. >> Do you speak Spanish? Yes, sir. >> All right. Maybe by the hunting uh bank sign right here. >> Yeah. Espanol. >> I guess this is one of Yeah, this is one of the subjects. Can you ask him what's going on? What he's doing? [Music] >> Ask him where his friends at. >> Is this one of them? Hey, he keeps trying he keeps wanting to leave. Do I have anything to hold him on or he's being trespassed? He >> trespass. All right, for sure. So, he said that he got dropped off. What car? A truck. >> A blue truck. >> A blue truck. Yeah. >> You just got dropped off. his Mexican boss left him. He's saying that he got dropped off to do uh what's it called to buy stuff and now he feels offended because everyone's following him and all that stuff. >> What about the other guy that was working? >> He said that it's he met him here. >> No, he said this just so I have this correct. He got dropped off here by his boss in a blue truck. He met another subject here. They both decided to load carts full of merchandise. And I just right. You got an ID. >> No, he said he don't have an ID. Date of birth. >> Even when communication was no longer an issue, the information still seemed completely unclear. At this point, the officers issued a formal warning based on the store's decision. He says he's new here and this is all he >> So, he's going to be trespassed. Okay. Verify his identity cuz if we can't verify his identity, >> we're going to have to uh verify his identity. >> Um got his date of birth. We got his date of birth. He's saying he feels uncomfortable that he doesn't know. He's saying that he hasn't committed a crime. He wants to leave. But he's committed the crime of trespassing. Tell him he's trespassing. We have to give him a warning that he can no longer be here. Okay. [Music] >> I already gave him the warning though. So, >> okay. >> So, he's trespass, right? >> Okay. Right. He's being trespassed. We have to verify his identity before we can. >> Okay. Trespassing, right? So, so what? >> At this point, the backup police team had also arrived to assist with the situation, but this seemingly only heightened the man's frustration. >> He says that uh he doesn't know his phone number, the info. He gave me his name, date of birth, and address. He says he lives at the guys who dropped him off is Juan Rodriguez who also lives at him lives with him. He says the the black gentleman that was in here before he doesn't know him in here. He was going to pay for all those stuff with his zel but now he's offended and he wants to leave and he's not going to he's not going to buy the items anymore. He's just going to leave. >> Did we explain to him that he >> that he's trespassed? Yeah. >> Wait. We explaining that they've been reported by other stores and wet. >> He says that he wasn't there. Okay. He's saying that he was just going to buy it with zel and he was going to saying he's a hard worker. >> Okay. So, >> where's the other guy? >> We still can't find him. You think he's still somewhere in the store? >> We search the whole store, the bands, everything like that. We can't find those. >> We could do one more walk through with someone who knows this store better than us if they like, but we try and start. >> The officers decided to pursue the investigation to the very end, making the man realize that escaping would be unlikely. As a result, he soon took a reckless action that quickly spiraled out of control. >> What did he say his name was? Hey, hey, HEY. 70 is running. We're running towards the street towards Shanero. Hey. Hey. Don't die in the piece. Back up. Hurry. Hurry. Ground. >> Sorry. Shoulder. >> I got him. You got him. Get your [ __ ] hand, bro. other units up. >> Though he did not admit it, his act of fleeing spoke for itself. Now there was no way for him to deny his actions. >> You got anything else on you? >> I thought I got in better than me, but then >> he had all the momentum going. >> The hockey stuff already, man. >> Yeah, he had all the momentum. >> Good morning. 120 in Somerset over Henry 12119 Henry 1219 120. >> We got a camera roll in here. Yeah. >> 120th almost. >> Of course, this is going to be some great video. He came right out the door and he's looking at me. I just go, "All right." And I just like freaking popped him as hard as I could and we slammed him, but he had all the momentum. >> Started running from inside the store >> and then I Yeah, >> he was there. I had them over by the cash register away from the door and then when I went to go look at the photo, >> they migrated right towards his door. >> As soon as Sergeant went to go get the picture of him, >> yeah, >> he bolted. >> The man was charged with obstruction, resisting arrest and providing false information. The man's attempt to escape spoke louder than any denial. His actions left him with no way to dispute his wrongdoing, serving as a clear lesson on how trying to evade responsibility only escalates consequences. More critically, invoking her civil rights was the only pretext she had left. >> Think I know my rights. You're detaining me and it hurts me and there's no reason in you for you to be that aggressive. [Music] >> On May 26th, 2023, police were dispatched to Walmart after receiving a report of a completed retail theft with a woman suspected of skip scanning at the selfch checkckout. As officers moved in to make contact, the situation immediately escalated into tension. Your name's offic police department. We need you to go in. If you can't find a bad >> Well, I'm under arrest. >> You go ahead. Find your bag. >> No, you need to tell me why don't >> loosen your hands up. >> What am I doing? No, I've been checking out. >> No, I'm literally been checking out >> this whole time buying stuff. I have money. Is that the issue? >> Do you want me to show you my >> Where she at? >> My damn phone. >> Is this their buggy as well? is yours. >> Yeah. I went and got another buggy to put the stuff in. >> Okay, we're going to go ahead and we're going to walk to the office over here and we're >> Okay, but can you do it so tight? You're embarrassing me and you're doing extremely. >> Okay, but I I'm going to give you the most highest respect just like you're giving me respect and we're going to walk you. >> Although she claimed she would remain respectful and cooperative, her actions told a very different story as she made the escort anything but easy. How you doing people? It's going to be okay. Especially this is actually >> Stop. Let's go. Stop doing this. Excuse me. >> I promise you about to go to the ground. >> No. You're about to get in trouble and lose your thing. I know my rights. >> You're detaining me and it hurts me >> and there's no reason to you for you to be that aggressive. I'm sorry if you have problems at home, but I ain't it. dead. They think this is I'm sorry. >> Huh? And I'm getting arrested when I have $600 in my account. That's a blows my mind. You guys don't understand. I know my rights. And first off, I'm not even finished checking out at your register. That's the sad part. >> Hang on. >> I would like to what you guys are doing is I want to call the commission. I would like no really I'm going to call the city commission cuz what you're doing right now is completely illegal. I have not >> I need you to answer having these rights in mind. >> Having these rights in mind you talk to me now. >> The woman loudly asserted her civil rights portraying herself as a victim of the police while doing nothing to help resolve the situation. >> I'm not talking about that. >> Am I going to jail for >> you give me your name? >> No. >> You're not giving me your name? >> No, I refuse. >> So you're going to catch a resisting charge on topic? You are resisting my rights. This is my right. >> So, you're being detained under investigation. So, you have every right. You're required by law to give your name and IDENTIFY YOURSELF. >> OKAY? AND YOU GUYS ARE REQUIRED by law to not sit there and put me in handcuffs, but not tell me if I'm under arrested for anything. You can't just put me in handcuffs. >> Multiple times, you're not being arrested. You're being detained until >> Okay, I'm being detained. That's all you said. But you didn't tell me why. Hey, it was >> for shoplifting. >> It was with force at that shoplifting. Okay, now let's look at the definition of shoplifting. If you leave the store, does that mean a shoplifting? Cuz don't you have to leave Walmart for it to be shoplifted? >> I have a very big issue. I want to call city commissioner. Jeremy Melo is my go. It's all good. You guys are screwed. It don't matter. I promise you, you're the wrong person. It would be different if you guys saw me on the parking lot, all this stuff. You literally see I'm checking out So, >> you got a smile all on your face like all that, but I'm literally just checking out. That is crazy. >> Her complaints showed no sign of stopping. She insisted everything was being blown out of proportion. Yet, it was her own behavior that kept pushing the situation further against her. >> You see me digging through all the stuff that I >> Bro, bro, chill, bro. You all up on my head, bro. Chill. >> You are the reason. You got You got to be bored all day. By the way, people around thinking, "Oh, they stealing something." >> You got you got to do it with the little ratio at Mexican. So, you sit on it and rotate. I don't care. >> I don't owe you nothing. >> Get a better job. >> Okay. At this point, you are under arrest. >> Shoplifting. >> I never shoplift. >> You're not going to talk about it. >> No. Yes. Prove to me how I >> shoplift. You're show scan. Come on. >> How did I skip scan? Show me. You did not show me me taking stuff you are under. You're accusing me of something I didn't too. And I got money. That's not fair. >> That's not fair. I didn't even take nothing. >> Okay, listen. At this point, you are under arrest. You >> am I under arrest? >> You're under arrest for retail theft. Okay. >> I didn't take nothing. You cannot arrest me. I refuse. You need to call your boss. Call your Yes. Call your supervisor. to the car. >> You're going to call your supervisor. How are YOU GOING TO TELL me you can't arrest me when I didn't do nothing? >> That is not okay. I didn't steal. You see me ringing this up. Show me one thing that I didn't bring up. >> You guys are really arrested me. >> Take me out of here cuz now I will let bankrupt. >> You have no right to do this. >> What did you see me taking? What did you see me taking? What did you see me taking? What did I take? >> No. >> I need Let's go. You guys are hurting me. It's okay. >> If you will stop, you won't stop. >> Brutality. No, you're wrong cuz I didn't even steal. Let's go. Even to this point, the woman continued to deny her actions, left without any valid excuse and resorting only to baseless accusations against the police. >> No, you have no right to search me. No probable cause. >> YOU ARE BEING SEARCHED. >> NO, I'M not going to jail because I didn't do anything. >> Hey, listen to me. >> Where did I steal? Where did you see me steal it? >> Where? I don't know where you got the idea that this is on your terms, BUT IT IS >> IT IS ON MY terms cuz you're you're misusing your rights. You're misusing your privileges when I didn't take nothing. It'd be different if I took something but I didn't. And I didn't even finish getting checked out. I swear you got me so much trouble for doing this. It's not okay. You guys just treated somebody like that. You guys are looking you're looking for a reason to keep me in jail. That's it. That's horrible. That is so horrible. My wallet, my money, my lighter, my makeup. >> See, >> even inside the patrol car, any sense of calm seemed non-existent. She panicked and continued screaming, clearly needing to be restrained and calm down. >> See, this is exactly what they do to people. >> I'm getting arrested for no reason. >> Take a deep breath. >> No, I don't take a deep breath. I didn't do nothing. You can't do this. I work too hard to my job, dude. I worked too hard for this. And now I finally have money to go to Walmart and do something and buy something nice for myself. And I can't even do that. And this [ __ ] is going to sit there and try to sell drugs. Like that's going to be the reason why they said that's why I've already seen this happen to my boyfriend. But the sad part was he was actually stealing and I wasn't with him. They will use whatever they can to actually arrest you guys because you know holding for you guys to stand in court and just say she was shoplifting while not leaving the store. >> You can't sit there and say I'm being arrested for possession charges because you didn't arrest me for that. >> I didn't even have that. That's what I'm saying. >> Listen, the yelling ain't doing nothing. If you want, you can fight it in court. That's fine. This is so wrong. This is injustice. What is not wrong? >> What wrong is you committing and breaking the law? >> But where did I break the law at? You watch the same video I watched. Where did you see me take something? >> Finally, the woman was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Possession of drug paraphernalia, theft, and resisting arrest without violence. When denial and aggression replace accountability, the situation only escalates. Calm cooperation from the start is often the difference between a warning and serious legal consequences. Worse, remorse never existed in this woman's mind. >> Okay, what will be the charge? >> Grand theft and scheme of the fraud. As of now, one count of grand theft and scheme to fraud, >> but there's going to be more counts of grand theft coming down the road once they can go through everything and atomize every individual transaction. >> On November 8th, 2022, police received a report from a Wind Dixie store regarding an internal employee theft. It was revealed that the employee had been stealing lottery tickets through multiple methods since early July. To understand the full scope of the scheme, investigators reviewed the detailed statement provided by the store manager. >> So, what's happening is we have an associate. Um, okay. >> We started seeing some lottery shortage over here for instant ticketing online. >> Um, it started back around beginning of July. >> Um, and it's gone on till present. So next I pay you lottery cards. >> Lottery cards playing online tickets. >> Yes. >> Okay. You want to go back in there for real quick? >> Can you tell me what's going on? >> I don't know what's going on. So I can >> just I don't want my keys to be stuck out the door and >> I know. Well, we don't I don't know what's going on yet. So let me talk to him and we'll go from there. >> Um so have our video, you know, selecting tickets mainly at the liquor store. You would just scratch the bottom to see if they're a winner or not. discard them if they weren't, catch them if they were. And then there's also another process on the cash register to where um like if somebody brings up a winning ticket, we can key in instant lottery redemption and then put in the dollar amount. Then we pay that out. Well, she's figured out that she could do that even without a winning ticket and everything's still balanced on the back end in our world. But then when we got the bill for lottery, then obviously we were like, okay, well, we paid out more redemptions than what we received. Okay. >> And so that's when all this started for >> So we're looking at um total that I can prove that she [Music] >> was $10,653 something like that. [Music] >> And to clarify further, the prime suspect was the woman who had just stepped out through the door at the beginning. Her behavior showed no sign of remorse. Instead, she even attempted to eavesdrop on the investigation, prompting officers to step in and stop the disruption. >> They're all active because they're all, you know, forgetting. >> You said I understand. >> I don't know what's going on for >> I will tell you. We're trying to figure that out. I'm trying to figure out what I have. Okay. I'm going to figure out if we're taking a not taking a >> I will let you know. Once I know, I will let you know. Okay. So, can you sit down for me? I won't lose my kids. I have a seven and a child that's in school right now having an asthma attack. So, >> let them figure out what's wrong and just >> take a seat for me. We'll figure it out. >> You know, they'll let you. >> So, I just can't just go home. >> No. >> Why? >> Because allegations I guess we have going on against you. >> Going to investigate this all. >> Okay. Well, now that they did their investigation, now they could tell us what they have going on. >> Say he had to talk to somebody else to finish going on to see what's going on. They're providing us a verbal statement what's been going on since July. Okay. So, we It's not more like you just stole a candy bar. Okay. I guess there's a question about almost $11,000 worth of lottery tickets. >> The woman was already wearing a backpack, claiming she needed to leave to pick up a family member. Clearly, she showed no concern for her alleged wrongdoing toward her personal matters instead. I just saw that she got up over there and he moved back. So, >> Oh, cuz you jumped cuz she told me to make a phone call. >> So, I'm trying to think of who can I call to get my kids bed and the school. >> Her children are about to get out of school. So, she was >> But I do need the same. >> That's what I'm trying to figure out cuz people my neighbor make sure they >> So, I'm trying to think who went around my house. >> I would I would try to figure it out. >> That's what I'm trying. >> So, while we're doing figuring out stuff here, so you figure out what's going on. If you accidentally explained that they were just talking to me about his two months, >> I will gladly ask him. Don't worry about that. But I'm telling you right now, I'm going to be talking with them. We're going to figure out what we have going on. You have until by the time we come in here and talk to you about what's going on to figure out a ride for your family, for your kids, >> going to jail. >> There's a possibility. >> Why? >> Because apparently you stole almost $11,000. They might the Cory and Charles that run this store, they had a conversation with me and they woke me up for >> Let me, like I said, let me figure out what they have over here. >> Just get somebody see if they can pick your kids up just in case if you do happen to go to jail. >> Think I'm trying to think who can I call. My family don't stay here. They stay. >> Okay. Well, you need to figure out a family friend or somebody or else I can call my friends service. >> So, can I call y'all um one of the police officers that used to work with you guys? >> Can I get my laptop? used to or does and tell you about the meeting we had. >> Hang on. >> At that moment, the woman was allowed to use the restroom, but before officers could put proper safeguards in place, she rushed away. Her sudden move immediately raised suspicion, prompting police to chase after her. >> She's coming. I don't know where she's at. Please don't run for me. Slow down. Slow down. Slow down. Slow down. Slow down. 2031. >> They went in the bathroom. >> I'm not trying to. >> Okay. So, what's going on? >> So, basically, here's what's going to happen. Okay. They're accusing you of making having some type of >> But you say it's Well, listen. You saying there's my number, but you don't have it on video that is 50 videos. >> I'm just saying, like I said, that's allegations as of now. Okay. We haven't conducted our investigation. So, >> come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. You're making a big deal. >> She could have calmly complied with a private body search, yet instead chose to turn it into a public and complicated scene, showing no sign of guilt whatsoever. >> We have her. She might be We're getting Yeah. investigation. Turn around. >> You got anything on you? You got to come back. >> Let's go. Let's go back to the back. >> No, we go. I'll touch everybody back there. >> You're coming back there. >> Watch the bathroom. >> We're going back through those black doors right there. Okay. >> To the bathroom. >> We're not going to the bathroom. We're going through those black doors. You're not just relax. >> I am tripped around. Only thing on me is my ID he took in my phone >> in my glasses. >> Only thing in my boobs are is my my teeth. She's seven months and I'm still breastfeeding. >> Okay. Y'all thought I actually would have something on me. >> I'm sorry. I don't trust police. I watch the news. >> Shortly afterward, police received the store's final decision and informed the suspect. Even then, her attitude remained striking and hard to ignore. >> That's what we're stoing. It's over a,000. It's on silver 750. >> Okay. So, what's going on? >> One counter that and uh well, I got the stat for but I don't know. That's it. It's a very simple scheme. >> Yeah, >> it's not it's not as complicated as >> I don't understand why I'm getting stuck with this, but okay. All righty. This is what's happening. Okay. You're going to take a ride to jail. Okay. So, sit down. >> Come on. >> Who do you need to call? >> I don't have nobody to go get my kids. So, come on. Let's see. You catch my house. >> Hang tight. We have some some things that need to be handled over here. So, have a seat. >> Okay. What will be the charge? >> Grand theft and scheme of defraud. As of now, one count of grand theft and scheme of fraud. But there's going to be more counts of grand theft coming down the road once they can go through everything and and atomize every individual transaction. So, every transaction is a theft. >> So, I'm going to have a felony charge. >> Yes. >> Two felonies. >> But it's one count now, but it's going to add up. >> Okay. Okay. So, I won't even get no bun. Okay. >> The woman offered no cooperation to help the situation move forward. Instead, she made matters increasingly difficult even during the process of escorting her into custody. >> My arm. >> Okay. Well, I'm trying to put your arms like this. Like you're >> Stop pulling from me. Hang on. Please put your hand behind your back. Okay. Stop pulling. Do you understand that? >> Down the stairs. I don't walk down the stairs. >> Doesn't matter. You're pulling from me. >> You don't do anything that I don't tell you to do. Do you understand that? >> My hand was on your couch. >> Do that car. I'm not happy. Just >> No, I'm not. Cuz he's happy. >> Excuse me, sir. Angel. >> Sir. >> Angel. >> Excuse me. >> Finally, the woman was charged with fraud and grand theft with her bond set at $4,000. Refusing to cooperate, showing no remorse, and complicating an investigation never protects someone. It reinforces suspicion and turns a manageable situation into a far worse outcome.
