foreign [Music] for our sworn membership with these hires we move above 800 sworn members for the first time in a long time [Applause] this is a very important milestone for us 800 seems like kind of an arbitrary number but to me it really symbolizes the sun coming up over the horizon it's really a milestone in the path to getting back where we need to be as an organization so we can give the city the services they so desperately need and deserve to I'll ask everyone who's being sworn in to raise your right hand and please repeat after me with you joining the city we're continuing to build that 21st century Bureau that puts Community safety right at the center and that's why you're here today we recognize nine professional staff members recently hired hire three Public Safety support Specialists and appoint 17 police officers we will also be promoting one Sergeant to the rank of Lieutenant they have a genuine love for the city and want to see the city be better and want to be a part of that process the truth is it's a great time to take the oath to be a part of the Portland Police Bureau thank you so much for joining this call for joining this family and for the service that you are here to provide to our community congratulations thank you [Applause]
