The Mesa Police Department supports breast cancer awareness. You can see behind me, we have a Tahoe with a pink ribbon on it. We wear pink patches and pink name tags and stripes on our uniforms. And this is all to bring awareness to breast cancer. >> This disease is everywhere. We all know somebody that is afflicted by this disease and has had to have treatment. >> My mother uh is a breast cancer survivor. Uh she was diagnosed with breast cancer 24 years ago. uh went through uh surgery, chemotherapy, radiation just recently uh was diagnosed with a second round of breast cancer and just had surgery. Uh this time I was caught very early uh stage one um and is now going through radiation treatment. >> My aunt is a breast cancer survivor and my best friend from high school, his wife was just diagnosed with breast cancer this month. For us, it's really important to raise awareness so that anybody that may get this has the earliest possible detection. >> Getting your mammograms early and often is the best way to prevent uh significant trauma from this disease that affects all of our families. It affects our daughters, our mothers, our sisters. >> I've had several close members have breast cancer and survive. um and seeing them through their journeys and helping them through their journeys um gives me a chance that I can just spread that message a little bit more um in providing some inspiration um and hope to members of our community. >> The pink patch symbolizes the many women who have fought for their lives and it helps us to be able to detect it sooner and let other women know that they're not in this fight alone. >> It just represents the big fight and the the strength that they have. It's an opportunity for us to uh raise awareness and also raise funding for um breast cancer uh survivors. >> So what we do with our pink patches and badges provide all the funds that we raise to my hope bag. Um this helps us contribute to the fight against cancer. Breast cancer awareness we support 100%
