On April 7th, 2025, a routine afternoon in Arkansas suddenly turned tense when officers began chasing a white ram pickup that refused to stop on US Highway 167. Authorities quickly identified the driver as Katie McMahon after the truck blasted through Calhoun and Union counties at dangerous speeds. 673 traffic. [screaming] Heat. Heat. Tell them our location. You're digital. After deputies finally took McMahon into custody, investigators discovered an open container of alcohol sitting inside the truck while she declined sobriety testing. She was transported to the Calhoun County Detention Center where Hampton Police prepared criminal charges connected to fleeing and the incident that also damaged an Arkansas State Police patrol vehicle. May 14th, 2025 started with a gray Chevrolet Malibu flying down Interstate 540 at 88 mph in a 65 zone before the driver suddenly decided that a traffic stop was optional. Troopers soon identified the driver as Damantra Shawn O'Neal after he pushed speeds to 124 mph while weaving through traffic and shoulders. >> Beautiful. >> David Boy 107 524. By the end of the night, O'Neal was taken from the hospital to the Sebastian County Detention Center after officers found marijuana, alcohol, and evidence connected to a suspended license violation inside the wrecked Malibu. Prosecutors later hit him with charges including felony fleeing, reckless driving while intoxicated second offense and driving without the required ignition interlock device. During a chaotic daytime pursuit in South Carolina, a woman behind the wheel turned an attempted traffic stop into a loud roadside spectacle filled with shouting, swerving, and claims that she was apparently royalty. Troopers spent much of the chase trying to safely contain the suspect as traffic built up around the pursuit. >> Back off just a little bit. I pushing too hard. All right. Investigators also referenced threats she allegedly made during the encounter, while officers documented property damage and prepared additional charges connected to the pursuit and resisting arrest. On June 18th, 2021, Florida troopers received alarming calls about a stolen black Kia driving the wrong way on Interstate 75 near the Florida and Georgia line. Authorities later identified the driver as Rishi Buckmaster after live highway cameras tracked the sedan. weaving through traffic and refusing to stop. right here. 149. The chase finally unraveled at a gas station where Buckmaster allegedly tried to carjack several vehicles while carrying a firearm before deputies subdued him with tasers. Court records later showed convictions tied to attempted carjacking with a firearm grand theft, fleeing law enforcement, and carrying a concealed firearm, resulting in an 80-month prison sentence. October 15th, 2022 became a rough night in Panama City when a suspected drunk driver exiting the Hathaway Bridge ignored a Florida Highway Patrol traffic stop and sped deeper into the city streets. He later faced charges including aggravated fleeing, reckless driving, driving under the influence, resisting arrest with violence, and driving without a valid license. On February 3rd, 2022, 23-year-old Tyan Leno allegedly stole his grandfather's vehicle near Aoma PBLO and turned Interstate 40 into a rolling police problem stretching more than 50 miles. Troopers spotted the vehicle speeding before Leno refused to pull over and headed toward Albuquerque. monitor. K9 traffic power. Do we know the 28 traffic. Have a normal 220. I'm coming down late. Do you understand? >> Once the chase ended, family members told officers they had struggled with Leno's behavior before the incident, including earlier disturbing acts at home involving animals. Investigators processed the stolen vehicle report, documented damage caused during the pursuit, and transported Leno for booking connected to vehicle theft and fleeing charges. November 7th, 2001 delivered one of the most chaotic truck chases Dallas drivers had probably ever witnessed when a stolen lumber truck barreled through traffic while catching fire mid pursuit. The massive rig somehow kept moving despite shredded tires, smoke pouring out, and patrol units desperately trying to contain the situation and the public by stealing a lumber truck and circling about the community. >> He's been staying in the same general area and he's been seen waving to people on the sidewalk. >> Incredibly, many pedestrians are not only enjoying the show, they're actually encouraging the performance. Traffic cam ahead. One car is trying to back up as the truck heads across the median. Now, >> a cruiser rushes forward with guns aimed at the semi's rear tires. The bullets find their mark, but an unbelievable complication is about to turn this chase into a terrifying display. >> It looks like there's smoke coming from the back of the truck. >> Sparks from the grinding rims have flown up to the truck's payload, igniting the cords of lumber. >> Big plume of smoke. Now >> within seconds, the semi turns into a rolling inferno. >> And now there's flames. A truck is on fire. This is absolutely unbelievable. >> Flames brace up the stacks of 2x4s. 6,000 lb of kindling on the move. The insane heat builds to an explosive level. A burning tire blows loose and rockets down the street like an unguided missile. >> Oh, look at that. It's rolling free. It's completely engulfed in flames heading through that parking lot. The suspect continues his manic parade as if this is all just part of an act. >> This is so dangerous for everybody out on the road right now. >> He doesn't realize that his lethal actions are about to reap a lethal response. >> You can see a police van pulling up from behind as four pieces fly off that truck. >> A white van rushes in behind the fiery fugitive. Inside is a tactical team with orders to use deadly force. As the driver tries to steer his rig across the median, the truck's exposed rims get stuck on the curb. Officers know this may be their only chance. >> The van's opening up. Officers are jumping out. They're rushing towards the semi. And that one officer has his gun drawn. I think he's firing. >> As bullets tear through the cab, the driver stomps on the gas, panicked and confused. >> He's pulling away. They they don't know if he was hit or not. >> He thought this was all fun and games, but it's become life and death. rubber spilled all over the roadway. >> He jerks the semi back and forth, shaking loose the truck's cargo as a blockade. His desperate act bottoms some time. Enough time to buy himself a lot more trouble. >> There's a school bus ahead and he charges past. Lumber falling off. >> The dangling lumber strikes the back of a school bus. Inside, a jostled child is injured by the impact. No matter what it takes, police have to end this chase now before another innocent gets caught in this guy's sights. >> Oh no. Right on the tail OF THAT SEDAN BARELY slows down in time. >> They charge forward for another shot at him, but the driver veers wildly, cutting them off. Police make the call for a sharpshooters and helicopters to take action. >> There are several police airship closing in nearby. He slowed way down here. Officers are holding their position and it looks like he's coming to a complete stop now. >> Police aren't sure what to make of his sudden change of heart, but the suspect has a good reason for stopping. It turns out that the tactical assault had worked with incredible marksmanship and a full sprint. The officer hit the driver before he could pull away. >> Police rush in. He's on the ground and it looks like they've got him. He's not resisting. After the pursuit finally ended, investigators examined extensive vehicle damage and the dangerous conditions created across multiple roadways during the chase. The incident later became infamous online for its dramatic footage near misses and the almost unbelievable sight of a flaming truck still trying to outrun police. On August 15th, 2023, Los Angeles officers began tracking three burglary suspects riding through Southern California in a dark gray Mercedes sedan during rush hour traffic. The suspects pushed east from the San Fernando Valley toward the Inland Empire while weaving through crowded freeway lanes to avoid capture. >> How many people are inside? What their state of mind is? Obviously, their state of mind in general is to get away. >> Yeah, exactly. Uh, and now pulling into some traffic here. >> And we do believe it's three burglary suspects started in Lake View Terrace and now he's trying to weave in and out of traffic. >> Yeah, we'll see if there's an exit here. Perhaps they're they're making their way over to the right lane to get off the freeway. >> You would think at speeds like this that perhaps an officer would step in and try and stop it, but with this many other cars around, it's not something you're going to really see them do. Yeah, >> unless the situation would warrant. And right now it does not look like it does. >> Oh, there's a van. There goes that news [clears throat] van. >> Yeah. So, there's a good view right there. Hi guys. Keep up the great work. See if you can keep up uh safely with what's going on here. We'll check in with you later tonight. But uh this continues with highway patrol in pursuit now in the number four lane. >> Um stay armed and now coming to Yeah. Now off of the freeway. This is at the exit ramp. >> Yeah. >> Okay. He's on Surface Street. He's making a left now on Baseline. Going westbound [music] on Baseline Avenue and now maybe preparing to go the opposite way on the 215 freeway. Doing a 180 and now going back northbound on the 215 freeway. And that's what I was starting to get at there. If we see these kinds of turns, it tells you, wait a minute, I'm not so comfortable. I don't know my way around here or my final destination is not going in the direction that he was going. So, for whatever reason, we're speculating, but for whatever reason, he's decided to go ahead and reverse course, get off the freeway, and now going the opposite way northbound on the 215 freeway. Now, I would expect him to stay on the 215 freeway all the way up to the Cohone Pass because if he gets on to the 210, which he could do, then he knows he's in for some more traffic. And something tells me that this guy does not [music] want to keep fighting that traffic that he's been fighting for the better part of the last hour or so. That's just a guess, but obviously he may have a destination in mind and that might be taking priority. In any event, he's going going northbound now on the 215 [music] freeway towards the Kahome Pass. We'll see. A wild look at them cutting off that back truck. A wild swerve in front of that 18-wheeler. A great move if you're trying to lose those officers, but there's plenty behind them to make up for that last minute move. Another wild lefthand turn through that uh fortunately green light. And now this pursuit again back on surface. >> Go ahead to to be able to pull that off. And now we are on Highland Avenue back on side streets. You know, we said early on here that it was an uneventful [music] pursuit and that's what you want to see from law enforcement's perspective. Um blowing through a red light. It just turned green, but you see people there. I don't know if that was a baby stroller or a shopping cart, >> but you see people at intersections and you have a car going this fast. Chris, you start talking about some real dangerous possibilities. Innocent motorists left and right, pedestrians. What was an uneventful pursuit may very quickly become very eventful here. Here comes the pit right along the right fender there and spinning that Mercedes out of control doing a full 180 and disabling that vehicle for now. We'll see if there's anything left in the tank there. He has come to a complete stop. He is now facing southbound face to face with these three CHP units headon now with his hands and arms in the air. driver getting out of the vehicle. It is over for him. He understands that that vehicle wasn't going anywhere and his time is up. The driver calmly giving up here, proned out, assuming the position right there uh in front of those officers. Appears to be obeying the commands. But remember, there are two other suspects that we are aware of inside that vehicle. So, a textbook pit maneuver to finish this guy off and end this pursuit. exactly the way they train at the academy. A perfect 180 face tof face with those officers. Immediately they all jumped out and the suspect fortunately gave up as they now attempt to detain the driver, detain the driver of that Mercedes-Benz. Again, we don't know if that Mercedes belongs to this guy or perhaps if it was indeed a stolen vehicle. We only know that the original one was burglary. These are burglary suspects [music] as uh CHP and it appears uh San Bernardino Sheriff now involved in this pursuit uh as they appear to be taking over this arrest here. Uh it looks like a number of different agent >> given up [music] as quickly. It's rare you see I mean this was a driver somebody else. Here comes somebody else. Here comes the passenger climbing out of the back seat into the driver's seat over the center console now about to about to give himself up hopefully. here. We will see. He may be injured. I'm not sure. He is collapsing out of this vehicle. >> And now another person visible in the passenger seat. So that would add up to three. If there was a fourth, we don't know. But that passenger from the back seat crawling over the driver's side onto the pavement there with his hands up. Appears to be cooperating as well. This would be suspect number two out of the back seat. Driver in custody. And then one more person in the passenger seat who will be ordered out of the vehicle. But, uh, it doesn't appear, and you got to wonder why he didn't just come out of the, uh, out of the, uh, the back seat the good oldfashioned way by opening those doors, but for some reason, he climbed out. Maybe the child lock was on. Who knows? >> The pursuit finally ended after California Highway Patrol officers stopped the Mercedes and took all three suspects into custody without further incident. Investigators confirmed the group included two male suspects and one female passenger, all connected to the burglary investigation that triggered the chase. March 14th, 2022 quickly escalated in Missouri after troopers clocked a white Nissan Rogue speeding at 95 mph on US 54 before the driver refused to stop. Authorities later identified the occupants as Malik Miller and Myron Mahaney after the chase tore through traffic at speeds topping 100 miles per hour. It's my fault. Following the crash, officers recovered loaded firearms, suspected methamphetamine scales, and more than $2,000 in cash from Miller's possession. Miller was later booked after investigators pursued charges tied to drug trafficking, firearm possession and felony fleeing while authorities continued sorting out who was actually driving during the pursuit. On July 31st, 2024, Florida Highway Patrol trooper Carlos Lopez attempted to stop a heavily modified Infiniti in Escambia County for illegal window tint and a loud exhaust system. Instead of pulling over, the driver allegedly rammed a patrol car and kicked off a reckless chase through neighborhoods and residential streets. owe. Wow. Heat. Heat. Investigators later recovered cocaine, methamphetamine crack, cocaine, alprazolam, pills, and drug scales before both men were transported to the Escambia County Jail on multiple narcotics and fleeing related charges. On May 1st, 2025, an Arkansas trooper attempted to stop a small purple Dodge Neon for defective tag lights before the driver casually waved out the window and kept driving anyway. Officers later identified the suspect as Christopher Lamont Trip after the chase wound through dead-end roads and residential streets. Okay, just wait. Just wait. Just wait. Go. Stay on your toes. Trip was transported to the St. Francis County Detention Center where he faced charges including felony fleeing drug possession, fictitious tags, and driving on a suspended license. June 12th, 2022 started with deputies noticing a motorcycle rider trying to hide his license plate before the situation immediately escalated into a high-speed chase across Georgia back roads. Investigators later confirmed he admitted running because his license was suspended while additional impairment concerns and felony fleeing charges landed him in the Haberssham County Detention Center. On May 6th, 2024 deputies in Georgia prepared for trouble after learning a fleeing vehicle connected to a stolen car investigation was racing toward Coffee County at speeds near 120 mph. Officers watched the suspects dodge multiple spike strip attempts while driving into oncoming traffic through Douglas City streets. >> Be advised, he is blacked out. No headlights. Was blacked out. Investigators later confirmed the suspects had stolen the vehicle the previous night, swapped license plates before heading to Lones County, and were eventually transported back there to face charges tied to the crime spree. November 12th, 2022 turned dangerous on Interstate 275 in Florida after troopers spotted a red Kia weaving aggressively through traffic and tailgating drivers at extreme speeds. Authorities later identified the driver as Cedriana Ariel Washington after she refused to stop and continued darting through traffic across Penllis County. We're going west. >> Are you 31? 874 51. She later faced charges including fleeing and eluding reckless driving, leaving the scene of property damage and possession of marijuana. On January 11th, 2024, Milwaukee officers located a white Kia Sportage reportedly connected to an abduction case before the driver suddenly accelerated through snowy city streets. Police radio traffic captured officers chasing the SUV through stop signs, sidewalks, and intersections as the vehicle fishtailed across icy roads. 270. Authorities later confirmed all officers involved were unharmed, while investigators continued building the case tied to the reported abduction and reckless fleeing. June 4th, 2025 became a disaster for patrol vehicles across Arkansas after a routine traffic stop near the IEO area exploded into a high-speed pursuit involving a suspect with warrants from multiple states. Deputies later identified the driver as Carlos Smith after he tore through Sheridan at speeds topping 90 mph. shoulder sign. Heat. Heat. Very good. Turn back around lower side. Authorities confirmed Smith faced multiple Arkansas charges while also dealing with outstanding warrants from other states tied to his extradition status. During an evening pursuit through busy city streets, state patrol officers chased a driver who repeatedly ignored traffic signals and pushed speeds far beyond what traffic conditions could safely handle.
