money back. >> Yeah. >> All right. You're being detained right now for a theft. Okay. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Oh, we're going to do our own trans for what? >> For retail theft right now. >> No, I didn't do anything. >> The police showed up and what followed was full of unexpected moments. It may have started with nothing more than theft allegations, [music] but the suspects quickly made everything far more complicated. >> You're going to jail. >> Going to jail. >> No, I'm not. Why did you >> slow down? >> Don't [ __ ] Don't tell me what to do. >> You disrespect me. You touch me without my permission. >> Here are the times when shoplifterss think their shoplifting spree went perfect. Starting with a suspect who was also a frequent viewer of body cam arrest videos. >> No running from from being a criminal. >> I am in this courtroom. You're not >> Is my name going to be posted somewhere? >> I I have no idea. >> On the 4th of December 2024, officers received a report of a theft at Walmart with a husband and wife reportedly suspected in the incident. But when they arrived at the scene, things became confusing when the husband claimed he was the only suspect in the case. >> We're supposed to be getting our kids. >> I didn't do anything wrong, but we're together. I'm so sorry. French focus. >> Um, what do they do on >> charges? I've been working for the last year >> on the amount. >> It's under a hundred bucks process and release. >> Is that mean to shut the door because I got five kids that are waiting. I'm the only person. I can't wait on my record. >> Okay. But I'm just trying to make sure that we're going to get there's no way for me to take full responsibility for this. She had no idea. >> I understand that. So So are you >> getting >> I can't because in my eyes I only saw her doing it and you being with her that she had no idea what was not scanned in this car. lettuce. >> I don't I don't I don't know. >> This is my wife. Well, >> we've been together for 12 years. >> On her way from Mount Vernon, so probably going to be about 40 minutes or so. >> All right. Thank you. >> I'll take you down there. They got a fingerprint. >> Like 100% sure. Like that's what it is. >> I mean, if it's if it's me or mine. >> Well, are you sure? There's no way you can let me take responsibility for this. >> It's an equal thing at this point. >> It can't be. She had no idea. >> You can argue that court, huh? >> Yeah. You can argue that court that she had no idea. I mean, just cuz you're charged with something doesn't mean it's going to stay on your record. >> So then tell her this because look, she's she's has a career right now. She's going to school. >> I don't anymore. >> And and what you uh >> Mr. 108. >> But no difference. >> Why does she feel like >> it's no different than driving a suspended driver's license? It's a misdemeanor. >> No, it's it's what's on your background, honey. I know. I'm positive. >> The woman repeatedly denied the behavior while her husband insisted on defending her, but none of it convinced the officer because what they knew was different from the story the couple was telling. >> Is it even legal for him to just say that both of us are guilty in this situation if she had no idea? I mean, surveillance camera footage. I usually don't lie. >> Shows me putting the stuff in the bags. >> Okay. Okay. She bagged the stuff. I I had the phone. >> I will never I will never use Scan and Go ever again in my life. Ever >> 42. >> I had the device that scanned every item in this cart. >> You know what I mean? So, I don't understand. just because she bagged the stuff. >> Well, >> in her mind, she thought that it was all paid for. >> She said when I stopped her that there was only food on there cuz they only had an EBT card attached to it, which >> I actually do I do have my card added onto the Walmart app. Is there anybody else with you guys? >> No. >> No. >> We're supposed to be going to pick up our children. Do you got the time? >> It's 4:46. >> We can do it for all this stuff. >> I got a vehicle in the parking lot if if I'm allowed to put it in there. I mean, I'd hate to lose every item I ever paid for. >> They made it sound like everything was just a misunderstanding, but it seemed they both knew exactly which items had not been scanned. I said if it was just the clothes, which I thought it was until I saw that almost everything here was $40, $30, $20. >> And so it was just the items that weren't food probably did not get scanned. >> Oh, yeah. 100%. >> No, because I gave you the phone and and he said something food wise wasn't scanned. So you didn't scan when you were getting the items. You didn't scan the food items like I told you. >> I'm telling him that. Ma'am, do you have an ID on you? >> I'm cooperative. I have never been in trouble. So, >> GD burritos um 1667 >> Kristen, I know for 100% fact that if if you don't plead guilty in the courtroom, this will not go on your regular. You have to be convicted of it for it to be seen. >> So, they're not going to be able to look at it for to apply for your job. >> They are. They are. >> They do. And >> they do. >> There's no running from from being a criminal. >> I am in the courtroom. You're not going to They're not going to >> Yes, they are. They are. respect. >> I'm going to take I I got full blame for every bit of this stuff. It's not on you. >> It is. I'm I'm being arrested. >> So, it is. >> We arrest people all the time. That don't mean they're convicted. >> You're innocent until proven guilty. >> No. >> She remained worried about everything, even as her husband tried to reassure her by taking the blame, but her anxiety seemed less about the alleged theft and more about her reputation. Oh, >> just [clears throat] relax, please. >> My mom was clocking out of where to go. She said she doesn't know what she's going to do with them cuz obviously she can't bring them to her house or something. I don't know. I don't know. >> She's going to bring them. Everything is going to be okay. >> Is my name going to be posted somewhere? >> I I have no idea. I'm not We're not the ones that do that stuff. >> Yeah. Only is only if you're convicted of a serious crime. This is not a serious crime, right? >> Yes, it is. >> So, if they're not dressing you out and all that, do you have to go in handcuffs and everything? >> Anybody that goes in the jail house, goes into the jail house, go in handcuffs. Good. >> That's just a requirement for them. >> Are you putting us in handcuffs out here? >> Once you get in the car, once you sit in the car, I'll let you go. Babe, it's going to be okay. I promise you. >> Chicken bacon. >> They're not Nobody It's not like nothing's going to happen with this right now that I that I know of. >> More of them. >> Well, so when you get arrested, your name don't go in the newspaper or nothing like that. >> We don't do any of >> They were worried about showing up somewhere on social media. Perhaps they were also loyal viewers of body cam videos, which could explain why the man seemed to understand the law so well. At this point, the officer then explained the charge they could face in our system, so it's like you're not going to get a trespass or anything, but it'll probably be a decent amount. >> Um, still be able to shop here after, but it'll probably be a decent charge. Hoping for your safe it's under a felony, but there's a few items that were pretty pricey. >> Oh my god. Oh my god. >> Like what? Like what? >> Just the four items I pulled out. >> 30 $30 each. >> That's That's a felony. >> No, no, no. 300. Anything above 300, that's I was hoping that they close. >> Anything above 300 is a felony? >> Oh my gosh. I cannot. >> So, um, if it's a felony, they don't just let you go, though. Is she a judge? >> Can we know how much it is? >> She's scanning it. >> And it won't be on tax. It'll be just the straight price of the product. It won't they don't add >> How much ma'am? >> Over 300. >> No. >> Okay. >> Barely. >> So, what does that mean? It's not a felony. >> Means processing release. I can take full responsibility for this and she knows nothing about this. >> I I can't >> She had no knowledge of this though. >> Well, she's the one who gave me the knowledge that it was. >> In the end, both individuals were charged with retail theft and processed at the county jail. Trying to shift responsibility or reassure someone does not change the evidence officers have already seen. When surveillance footage tells a different story, excuses and fear over the consequences will not make the situation disappear. Next, these 22-year-old teens turned their vacation into a felony. >> You guys selected those items, you concealed them, and you passed all points of sale. That's shoplifting. >> Anything that could help us out by >> Unfortunately, this situation is out of my hand. On the 2nd of July 2025, police received a report from Saks Fth Avenue in Boca Raton about three suspects allegedly involved in theft at the store. All three had been detained in the loss prevention office. Here is what happened next. >> Hello. >> How are you? >> I'm doing well. I think it's a shoplifting kind of day cuz this is I think the third call. >> Oh boy. >> Oh yeah. So, who saw >> I didn't. >> Okay. Do you want to just step out here and just tell me what's going on? >> Do you solemnly swear, promise that the statement you give will be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. So, help you God. >> I do. >> Okay. And please tell me what happened. >> Um, while observing CCTV, I seen the three entering the men's department. Um, the young lady was carrying a large yellow Lego bag. Um, they huddled up in an section, which is one of the men's designers. One of the males selected a pair of shorts. The young lady opened up the bag and dropped the shorts inside. The third one acted as the shield hiding them from associates. Then proceeded to women's contemporary marketing. Once it women's contemporary, they did the same thing. Held up in the corner, grabbed the white dress. Young lady open the bag, dropped the dress inside the bag. The other one acted as a shield and deterrent. >> Once that happened, they walked out the store where I myself along with my API Jose stopped them. >> That you guys were outside of um Sachs when you made the stop. >> Correct. Right. >> So they passed all points of sale. You never observed them go up to any cash registers or anything like that? No. >> Okay. And you believe that they were working in concert based off of their behaviors and actions? Okay. And do you have everything recorded on CCTV? >> At this point, the three suspects were separated and interviewed individually. With the first suspect, confusion seemed to set in as he struggled to clearly explain what the camera had captured. >> Yes. I can't force you to talk to me. I just have to go based off of what the video footage and what everybody says. So, it's up to you. >> I mean, I could hear for now. >> I'm sorry. >> I I could listen, right? >> I It would just be me asking you questions. There's nothing that I have to say. >> What would you ask me? >> What would I ask you? What happened? >> I really don't know myself. I was just That's it. That's all you can ask. What happened? >> No, I was just going to ask you like what are the sequence of events? Like it did you guys come in with the intention of steal? How did it happen? Cuz as you can see, I watched the video so I already know what happened. I just want to know pretty much why cuz it looks like you guys are working in concert. Like concert means you're all working together to steal the products. Cuz you put one thing in, she puts one thing in, Ali puts another thing in the bag. So, everybody put something in the bag that she was holding. So, what was the plan? Did you guys walk in here intending to steal? >> No. >> So, how did it work out that everybody ended up doing that? >> You don't know? >> I had mentioned I was looking at those shorts, >> the green shorts. >> Uh-huh. >> Other than that, I didn't realize that No, we had like it was no intention of sealing me. >> So, how did the shorts end up in the bag? >> I was [snorts] waiting for them to finish shopping around. >> Did you What's her name? can't even spell it out because I showed. >> The man appeared completely confused, claiming he knew nothing about what had happened. [snorts] But the officer suspected he was lying after reviewing the footage and seeing several details that suggested he knew exactly what was going on. >> So, did you see her put the orange box into the bag? Cuz it looks like you're watching her put it in the bag. >> I I didn't see. >> You did? I >> I didn't pay attention. I'm going to be honest. >> Okay. prior to coming into the store or in the mall in general, did you guys say, "Hey, we're going to go into Sachs and and steal stuff or we're not going to pay for anything." Like, what was the plan? Cuz everybody seemed to put something in the bag. So, I'm having a hard time believing that you guys didn't come in here with the intention of stealing when everybody did the same exact thing. They put it in the bag. So, there had to have been some type of conversation or somebody watching somebody do it. So, I'm just trying to understand [music] what happened. >> I don't know. >> Okay. >> And then could uh like separate note, could I ask you a question? >> Mhm. >> So, what what happened now? >> Everybody's going to go to jail for a felony since you all worked in concert together and it's over 750. Everybody's going to go to jail for the felony. According to the report, they had taken a bottle of Hermes perfume, a $700 pair of Amiri shorts, and a $230 white dress. [music] This [snorts] made the charges even more serious, and none of his excuses seemed to convince the officer. >> I had full intention of paying for those shorts. I spoke to the the guy as well. I told him I I paid I was I had full intention of paying for them. >> But you walked out the store without going to any point of sale to purchase those shorts. So, you didn't have intentions of paying. You waited until you were confronted and then since you didn't want to get in trouble, you didn't want to face the consequences, you gave the option, "Hey, I'll pay for them." You didn't think of the consequences prior to getting stopped. Does that sound about right? Because if you had intentions of paying, you would have been like, "Hey, hold on guys, I need to pay for those shorts that are in that bag, right?" So, what would be the reason to leave the store? >> I don't know. I told them I was I I'm willing to pay. I told them before after. >> I don't I don't care about loss prevention. I don't care about that conversation. What I care about is why you stole and what the conversation was and why you didn't pay for it. But I I feel like we're going kind of in circles with this conversation cuz you're not telling me what um what the conversation was that led to all of you stealing something. So >> like I don't know exactly what happened. And I gave the choice to my friend and I had them as well. I was asking him to see if he liked them or not. I told him I had intention of paying. He said, "Uh, she'll hold on to them." >> But you put them in the bag. You're on camera putting them in the bag. You guys selected those items, you concealed them, and you passed all points of sale. That's shoplifting. That's clearcut and dry shop. >> The interviews with the other two suspects then took place with the man wearing glasses admitting that he put the merchandise into the bag. All three were then taken into custody and they quickly accepted responsibility and showed remorse for their actions. >> You be out tomorrow. >> You should be. Yeah. Unless I mean you guys act up and act a fool in jail [laughter] then. No, you [clears throat] won't. But yeah, you should be out tomorrow. Just hold on to yours since they're boyfriend and girlfriend. So, I'll just separate their stuff when we get back there >> cuz I'm going to have to get everybody's like separated. So, >> Oh, okay. >> Should I take my earrings out, too? Oh, you did? Yeah. Take your ears off. >> Do you have any belly rings or anything like that? >> I don't have any though. >> No. Okay. No other piercings anywhere. Okay. >> Put the side in there. >> Yeah. Just put it in there. We'll we'll separate it when we go over there. It's fine. >> And the police is men's and women's shirt together. >> You guys, it's very small. It's like probably double this size. So, um I'm going to put her in a separate one and I'll probably put you two in a separate one, too. But we'll see >> if we could be together. I mean, whatever. >> All three of three of you. I'll have to ask my supervisor. I don't know if I'm allowed to put all three of you together. >> Anything that could help us out? Like, >> unfortunately, this situation's out of my hands. When they want to prosecute, they want to prosecute. And pretty much they prosecute every single time. Um, so I can't persuade them out of prosecution. I just legally I can't. Sometimes stores when it's not as much money, they will just do like a civil route and they won't do criminal charges, but in this situation since it's it's a lot of money. It's not something where it's like $10. So, it's a it's a different situation like Oh, can that come off that >> this is it's it's >> they just to let you know they might cut it off in county. I don't know. >> It's religious. >> Okay. If you tell them that then I'm sure that it'll be just fine. >> This one. Okay. Yeah. This one would have to, but if it's that since it can't be like cut off, then yeah, let's go back. >> All righty. Um, Ollie, can you just turn around, face away from me? >> In the end, all three suspects were charged with felony grand theft. When multiple people work together to conceal merchandise and pass the points of sale without paying, their actions can turn a simple theft into a much more serious offense. Excuses made only after being confronted are unlikely to change the consequences when surveillance footage tells a different story. But the next suspect showed no remorse at all when she was arrested. >> Two other bottles. >> Okay. >> Started walking around till the car picked her up. >> All right. >> All right. You may be detained right now for a theft. Okay. >> Okay. >> Yes, ma'am. >> On the 16th of August 2025, police were called to a retail store after receiving a report of a theft. What seemed like a theft involving just a few bottles of wine. however, soon suggested that the woman may have taken much more than initially discovered. >> That's what was in her cart that she walked out with. >> All right. >> I followed her out. Um, so then she left the cart and grabbed a six-ack of wine and two other bottles. >> Okay. >> Started walking around till the car picked her up. >> All right. Do you have any pictures? Yep. >> Okay. So >> So there's one, two. >> All right. Can you send them to this I don't think you need that one, right? I'll get >> She's got her head behind the car. I've got >> Yeah, just >> one, two, three, four other ones. >> Yep. Perfect. >> Five other ones. We can figure out how to do it here. >> And then um were was there anyone else in the car that was involved? >> Yeah, there was a black female with glasses that picked her up. >> Okay. Okay. So, do you think the driver had anything to do with it or >> I don't know. She was like in no hurry. Most of them are like >> tried to peel out and she sat in the line. >> Okay. >> To turn left beside gut go and she sat at the intersection to turn left for >> 3 4 minutes. >> Do you So, this is all the stuff that was in her cart. Correct. So that's what was in her cart. >> Um when we followed her around the parking lot, she tried to pick up both the wine carriers and one of them broke open. >> Okay. >> So she grabbed the other six-pack and two bottles of wine. >> Okay. >> And hopped in the car with that. >> At 8:30 down the gas on three. >> Sorry. So she should have eight bottles of wine that she actually took out of the car. >> Do you guys have a patrol phone on you? >> They are out with them now. So, I'm just uh >> sending them the pictures so that they can verify it. >> The manager then provided more details, piecing together the story. The employee began connecting the dots from when she appeared in the bakery area and moved through different parts of the store to when she casually walked out without paying. >> Says that she got it from here. No. >> Well, she did. She I mean, she could have made two trips out. >> Yeah. >> I don't know. So, I I saw her here in bakery. >> Okay. saw the two things of wine. She didn't look like a >> Yeah. >> wine drinker. So, I watched her. She messed around in produce for a while. I stood right here. >> She came back through bakery, kicked right through here and out the door. >> Okay. So, >> soon as she got out the the second lobby entrance and I asked her if I could see her receipt. >> Yep. >> She said, "Leave me alone." >> I said, "Well, I'm going to follow you. I want my I just want my stuff back." >> Yeah. >> Kept going with it out >> probably about out just past the island. That's where she tried to >> lift it out and then she walked clear around and up here and got picked up right up front. >> Okay. >> Um like in the first spot the lady pulled in and she hopped in and then they took off. >> Perfect. Um >> so my LP can get you any video you need. >> Perfect. Video would be good. Um >> Nick Cullivan. I don't know if you need his name. >> All right. Perfect. >> He has a team of detectives that will come and pull video and send them wherever you want them. Perfect. Okay, we will make contact with him. And >> the female suspect was identified as having previously been arrested for another incident at Giant Eagle, making it clear that she had a prior history. Meanwhile, the suspect had already been detained elsewhere. >> You're being detained right now for a theft. Okay. >> Yes, ma'am. over here with me. >> You're just detained right now. You're not under arrest. If you would, please be right back with your key. Oh [ __ ] You don't have any ID with you. >> What's your name? >> What is it? >> How do I spell? >> Young like just common spell. When were you? >> The search of the car raised even more questions, especially when police discovered a red purse containing white powder and cut straws. Now watch how she reacted when confronted about it. Where did all this stuff come from? >> Yeah. >> They're not Those are not from CO. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> I mean, it's it's just odd that there's such a pile of the exact same stuff. >> They They don't They're not from CO. That works. >> Did you have it with you when you got in the car today? >> Yeah, I already have it. >> What's What's with the white powder and stuff in the straws? What's that white powder? >> Where? >> In the bag. >> In what bag? I didn't have a bag of powder. I have a bag of powder. >> No. >> No, I do not. Oh, no. I have a bag of powder. Okay. >> So, you're saying the red purse in the back with the powder is not yours? >> Oh, I don't I don't I don't know. No, I'm not I have a red purse, sir. I swear to God I No, I do not. >> Okay. Okay. Not yours at all. >> No. >> Right back there on the seat. >> They must throw that back. I do not have a red purse. I swear. >> What color is yours? >> I don't have a purse with me. >> You don't have one at all? >> No. >> No. Where do you carry all your money and stuff? >> Um, I had a little um wallet. >> You had a little wallet? >> Yeah, I should have been in the car. >> Well, sometimes. >> Yeah. You didn't bring your bag at all? >> No. I think that my girl had that rare purse. I didn't see that. >> Police quickly turned to the people who had given the suspect a ride to learn more about the incident, but their initial statements only made the situation harder to figure out. >> Mr. Roman, where are you coming from? >> I'm coming from the grocery store. >> What grocery store? >> I went to Walgreens. >> Okay. >> And I took this young lady on a trip to the market. >> To where? I'm sorry. >> To your market. >> Can you roll down your back wearing window, please? Thank you. >> You took her where? I'm sorry. >> To the market. >> To the what market? >> This street. >> Okay. Gotcha. Thank you. That's Did you go inside with her? >> I did not go inside. >> Okay. All right. >> I went to get gasoline. >> Okay. All righty. Good deal. That's uh Well, I think she did something she shouldn't have done in the market. Okay. Do you know her or don't know her? Well, at all. >> You don't? Okay. All right. What's that? >> She's a friend of a friend. >> Okay. She asked for a ride. >> I gotcha. Okay. Gotcha. That's uh Well, that's Did she carry anything out of the market? >> I'm sorry. >> Somewhat. >> I saw her. >> Yeah. That's Do you know where they're at in the car? >> You don't have to reach for them. I'm going to assume they're underneath that jacket. As police searched the car, they began finding more suspicious items. And the more they questioned her, the more they suspected that the items might be stolen. >> So, that's the problem. So, all right. Just just sit tight for a second here. You don't have to hand them out. I'm going to uh Is your car unlocked? >> Yeah. >> I'm going to open the back door and just set him in there real quick. Okay. >> All right. And the car is yours, ma'am? >> Yeah. >> The car is yours? >> Yes. >> Okay. All righty. Good deal. Sit tight for me for a second. Okay. >> Yeah. problem. >> You mind if I see that? >> So, did you go inside and buy some stuff then? >> We didn't go in with her. >> You didn't go in with her own stuff. >> Okay. >> We didn't go in with her. >> Did you pay for all this stuff, too? >> You bought this stuff? Okay. >> Okay. With us taking the bottles out of the back of the car here? >> Okay. Thank you. Do you mind turning off the car for me? >> Yeah. >> There is uh quite a bit of other stuff back here, too. and maybe you can help us with uh what's on the back floor. There's all kinds of uh like deodorant and uh bag. >> Say again. I'm sorry. >> The bag back there. >> Yeah, that's uh kind of what uh what it's looking like. >> She just grabbed What did you just grab? >> Who's that? Whose bag is that? >> Whose bag? >> Is that her bag? So you have to open it. Just that hers. Just go ahead and set that back there if you would, please. >> Yeah, if that's her bag, just set back there. I'll take it. >> Thank you. >> I'm not in trouble for her, am I? >> You didn't take anything, did you? >> The driver statement continued to reveal a trip through several stores with more details emerging that confirmed the woman had been inside the stores. >> Did she come out with all that stuff out of Giant Eagle? Do you know? >> When I drove from gas station, >> she was driving. I saw her walking towards me >> with the bottles. >> The bottles. She had nothing else in her hand. >> That was at Kroger market. >> What's that? >> That was a Kroger emergency. >> Kroger marketplace where she came out. All that stuff. Which Kroger marketplace? >> The one over there by Palis. >> The one like across the street from the Giant Eagle. >> We didn't know. Giant Eagle we went to was one down at campus. That was earlier today. >> Okay. >> We just We had the pet store. >> Mhm. She went to the marketplace. I went in the marketplace to pee and that's I came. >> So when and that's where she came out with all that body care. Where was that marketplace at? >> Clarence. >> So there's a couple Kroger's on like Kroger marketplace. >> Yes. >> Market district on it. >> It's by the get go. >> Okay. So the wine >> there's a Walgreens. >> Yeah. Okay. So that's a Giant Eagle marketplace. Okay. Um, >> so that's where she came out with the wine and the body care products. >> Yes, >> she came out with both from there. Okay. >> There's bags with her at Walgreens. >> What do you mean she used your bag at Walgreens? >> Walgreens. >> What's that? >> You have to use my bag at Walgreens. >> What should you bring out of Walgreens? >> Uh, I think the the uh deodorant and the the shower gel and all that stuff. >> We said that came out of Giant Eagle just a minute ago. Well, I think that alcohol did. She went to Walgreens before that and I think >> Well, I'm guessing she didn't just She didn't stash her crack pipes and stuff in it, did she? >> I don't know. She just went by. >> I mean, these Do you do Do you have a prescription for Vance? >> Those aren't mine. >> It wasn't yours. Oh, it's in your bag that was with you and all that. >> So, you're saying she went into >> bag? My bag? Yeah, my bag was in the back seat. There was that firm when we got >> apart from her. I was like, "Yeah, I like that guy." >> The woman was charged with theft under Florida statute section 812.014. If charged as pett [music] theft, she could face up to one year in jail and $1,000 in fines. Depending on the degree of the offense, one theft can quickly lead to additional consequences when investigators uncover evidence of other incidents. Being honest and cooperating may help reduce the situation from becoming even more complicated, but it does not erase responsibility for the original offense. Next, the man still seemed to think he had every right to cause a scene in the store. >> SHE LET US IN. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? >> GET OFF. GET OFF. SHE LET ME IN. >> For freedom of speech, I'm going to go for disorderly. Please tell me I'm going for disorderly for speaking. On the 8th of March 2026, officers were dispatched to a Papa John's after a disturbance was reported. All because the suspect was refused an order just 2 minutes before closing. What seemed like something the officers could quickly resolve. The man clearly had other plans. >> Get out of the store. >> We didn't do anything. >> Walk out of the store. YOU'RE GOING TO JAIL. LAST WARNING. >> Out of the store. >> It's open. LOOK AT THE WALK OUT. LOOK AT THE >> WALK OUT. YEAH. Walk out. SEE, LET US TRUST ME IN >> Once neither side was willing to back down, it was no longer about a pizza. In just moments, the situation had turned into something the man could hardly take back. >> SHE LET US IN. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? GET OFF. GET OFF. SHE LET ME IN. >> Give me the channel. >> She literally let me in. >> She let me in. >> Bro, what? On the ground, bro. >> What are you doing? >> Stay with them. Stay with them. What are you doing? >> Lay on your stomach. Bro, what are you? Bro, get on reason. >> Bro, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? >> REASON, >> BRO. >> DID YOU GET OFF ON THIS? >> NO, YOU GOING to jail. >> GOING TO JAIL. >> NO, I'M NOT. I DIDN'T DO [ __ ] >> BRO, STAY. SEE, >> BRO. YOU GET IF YOU DON'T put your HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK NOW. >> STOP. >> I CAN'T BEND THAT THING. >> STAY WITH THEM. >> Who's with you? >> Nobody. Just keep on >> stay with me. >> Stop. You're hurting me. >> Well, you shouldn't resist. >> I'M NOT RESISTING. YOU'RE HURTING ME. >> WELL, I told you. Put your hands BEHIND YOUR BACK THAT WAY. >> STOP TALKING OVER ME. >> I CAN'T BEND THAT WAY. >> Stand right here. >> I didn't even do anything. >> Hey, just chill. >> You're hurting me. >> You're hurting me. Hey, go inside. Go inside with >> Stop talking. >> Why am I STOP TALKING IF I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING? >> We'll figure it out. >> I'M TELLING YOU WHAT. >> HEY, >> I DON'T CARE. >> QUIET. >> YOU DON'T CARE. BUT YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, RIGHT? >> Can I talk to an officer that cares? >> There there's two of them in there. Garrett's got him. But [snorts] what's striking is that he still couldn't understand why he was going to jail. Constantly questioning the officers about his right to stay in the store. And that's when the legal reason behind his arrest began to become clear. >> I gave you the opportunity to walk out. You're going TO JAIL. >> GET UP AGAINST the car. >> Bro, can I tell y'all what happened? >> Hold on. Hold on. >> Relax. >> Do you have anything on you? If you have anything on you, it's an extra charge and you go to the jail. It's a first-degree felon. >> For what? For what? >> GOT ANY CONTRACT? >> YOU HAVE TO tell me. For what? >> Going to jail for >> You're going to jail for trespassing and resisting. That's right. >> Take a seat. >> Wrong. >> Y'all are wrong. >> Take a seat. >> Y'all are wrong. Y'all are >> all the way in. Or you're going in disorderly. She's going >> She's going disorderly. Anyways, >> how can she tell me I can't be in there? But I ordered food. >> All right. >> How can she tell me I can't be in there? >> I ordered food. It seemed [snorts] the officer's explanation of the suspect's charges was a waste of time because no one was willing to accept responsibility, not even their relatives on the sidelines. >> Whose vehicle is this? >> It's mine and my husband stay away. >> Who's your husband? >> Okay. Well, he's going to jail for resisting and trespassing. >> Yeah. I told him to leave the property. He told me no. It doesn't matter. When a, listen to me. When a private business asks somebody to leave, I show up, tell him to leave, and he tells me no, he goes to jail. I try to take him to jail, then he wants to fight. So now he's going to jail for two charges. Okay? So you need to figure out a way to get home. >> The person can't go into the store and order a pizza, and she lets me in, and now I'm in handcuffs. >> They're going to jail for trespassing and resist. I didn't trespass anything. She didn't trespass me, sir. I did. >> You did not. You did not. You did not. >> You did not. >> He threw me on the ground. I didn't even get to speak. I didn't get to speak and he threw me on the ground. I didn't even get to speak. >> Let's just step over this pipe. >> However, one important detail was still unexplained. If the employee was the one who let them into the store, then what really happened afterward? Her side of the story would put the whole situation in a different light. They had called my store at about 1 12:58 a.m. asking me, "Can we place an order?" And I said, "Unfortunately, I am about to close and I am already backed up. I'm not allowed to take your order." And before I had even been able to hang up the phone, it had hung up on its own. And as soon as that happened, they came walking up to the door. I thought that they were just here to pick up another order. So, I let them in. And as soon as they let him in, the first thing they said was, "Oh, so you're going to hang up on me? >> You can't trespass a person that you willing to let in the store. >> I can give you this card to come back tomorrow for the inconvenience, but as of right now, there is nothing I can do for you." >> Why am I getting arrested for getting a pizza? >> Have no idea. >> That's when they started getting really loud and they were like just trying to convince me. A lot of what they were saying is a blur. But how am I trespassing if I never got witnessed with any trespassing notice? >> If they were if you were told to leave and you didn't >> They didn't tell me to leave. They didn't tell me to leave. >> Did you ask them to leave at all? >> Uh yes, multiple times. >> I've estimated how many times? Like did you say please? >> At least 20 times. >> You supposed to care about the citizens. >> You literally just said it's been here. I'm not the one charging you. I'm literally just giving you a ride. I am your Uber. >> But you're not my Uber. >> I am. >> You're not. >> You're more than an Uber. You're supposed to stand for the law. >> Yeah. >> And what I'm telling you is not standing for the law, and you're still going for it. >> In the end, both suspects were charged with trespassing and resisting without violence. The lesson: being allowed into a business does not mean you can stay after being told to leave. [music] Once officers step in, refusing to cooperate can quickly turn a simple dispute into additional legal trouble. Next, let's see whether this woman's circumstances were really enough to justify what she stole. >> I don't want to hurt your kid in the process. >> Why? >> Well, explain it to you. >> I needed to pick my kids. I'm sorry. On the 7th of June 2023, officers were dispatched to a residence after confirming that a woman named Bailey, an employee of Royal Maid Service, had stolen customers credit card information and used it to make purchases, but it seems she had no intention of coming outside easily. >> Hey, what's going on, guys? Is Bailey here? >> Sure, baby. >> We need to talk to Bailey. We know she's here, though. We literally just have to stop there. >> She doesn't think, >> but she We know she's here, though. >> She She stayed here last night, but she >> Okay, listen. We're not going to do this. All right. We know she's here. I've seen her myself. She's here. She's here with the kids. I don't want to make a big scene in front of the kids or you. If she comes outside, we're not going to make a scene in front of the kids. I've seen about six kids going in and out of here all day today. All right. It's either that I have a search warrant ready and we're going to kick the door in and have all the kids out of the ring. >> And I don't want to do that. Okay. I have fresh eyes on her. She needs to come out. I have the search warrant ready. Judge is going to start it by telling there's six kids in here. I don't want six kids waiting in the ring. Tell her we're going to do this real easy. She comes outside, get it all. All right. All right. >> Shortly after, the woman finally stepped outside, but hesitantly she kept a family member in her arms, seemingly using this as a way to avoid being handcuffed. >> Hi. Hi. >> Do you remember me? >> Yeah, I do. >> I'm okay. My kids right here. >> Just come away from the door. I'm going to talk to you. >> It's okay. You go. >> You go. >> Hi. You went inside. >> Hi. What happened to you? >> What? >> Really? I want to rescue. >> We're going to explain that to you right now. All right. >> I don't want to hurt your kid in the process. >> We'll explain it to you. Just put your kid. >> We don't want to hurt your child. >> Can Can you tell me why? I need to call from >> We're going to let you do whatever you need to do, but we need to put your kid inside. We don't want him to get wet. We don't want to see you get arrested. Okay. You need the courtesy of taking you out here. >> Okay. >> Just put them down. >> Just put them down. We'll open the door. >> You know me from Lake Worth. >> Can you tell me why? >> I will tell you why. You know, I will tell you why. >> I will tell you why. Just put him down. Okay. Okay. I got to give him my phone inside. >> Yeah, we'll take care of that. Just hold on. >> Keep your phone, too, if you >> No, you need to. >> Okay. >> He has to call my dad. So, >> okay. All right. Just put the kid down. Put them inside. >> Okay. >> I'm not going to run. I'm not going to run. My kids room inside. Okay. >> Just put him down. >> Hi. What's your name? Katie. >> Oh, no. >> No, you're fine. >> Okay. Buddy, >> I'm not going I'm not going to run. >> The woman was then taken to the police station. What seemed like a simple conversation quickly turned into something more as the detective began uncovering contradictions in her story. >> You're an employee of Royal Maid Service, correct? >> You were? >> Yeah. Um, one, two, like a year ago. A year ago. I worked there for like a week, two or three months ago and then she fired me because she got three other employees and me and my ex- best friend don't get along anymore. [snorts] >> Okay. So, >> so you worked there this year? >> Yeah, for like a week. >> Okay. So, in that week that you were employed there, >> you were sent with a with another employee to clean a house here in Lake Worth, >> like around this area >> off of K Street, the 400 block of South K Street. >> South K. >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Lady with twotory home, lady with two dogs. >> Yeah. >> And you had been there a couple of times? Um yeah, previously when I worked there previously. Yeah. >> Okay. So, here's what happened after you you cleaned that lady's house with Iana. Okay. >> The next day, she started receiving notifications from her credit card companies that credit cards were being used for purchases that [clears throat] she wasn't making. >> Okay. There were purchases made at a Papa John's. One of her credit cards was linked to a Vinmo account to fund the Vinmo account. >> She seemed to think that denying her past could help her get out of this, but what the detective was about to reveal would completely change the direction of the story. >> There was an order made the day after you clean the house on K Street, May 4th, >> and the pizza was delivered to Avenue. Mhm. >> Does that ring a bell? >> Mhm. >> Okay. Have you ever stayed at Truman Avenue? >> Yeah, for um sorry, for um a month or two. One or two with a friend. >> Okay. And were you staying there at the time around the time that you were employed with Royal Maiden? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah, cuz I walked to work. Yeah. >> Okay. So, I was able to review that transaction for the Papa John for the Papa John's. It was delivered to the 705 Truman address and the phone number provided cuz you have to give a phone number whenever you make an online order through Papa John's >> is your phone number. The Vinmo account. >> Have you ever do you have a Vinmo account? Have you ever >> I have a Venmo account? No. >> Okay. So when you set up a VINO account, similar to Cash App, >> I have Cash App. I don't have Venmo. >> Okay. You have to supply identifying information. >> Mhm. >> So the name on the account, the date of birth on the account, the social security number on the account, the address on the account, >> and the email address on the account all come back to you and Giovani. [clears throat] >> The social security number is mine. >> Social security number is Giovani's. The email address is yours. >> My email address is queen post1220.com. >> Right. And that's the email address linked to that VMO account. >> Okay. >> The more the detective pointed out, the more the woman's earlier claim that she had nothing to do with it began to fall apart. Just minutes later, she could no longer stand by that story and admitted to taking the card information. >> I know you cannot see the bedroom from every angle in the bathroom. So if you're focused on the shower or the areas. >> Yeah, if you're in the shower. >> Okay. And then there was a period of time where she was downstairs and you were upstairs by yourself >> because she has she had to use the bathroom. >> Oh yeah. We were carrying the products downstairs. Yeah. >> Mhm. Okay. So with what I just told you [snorts] in regards to the purchase at Papa John's, the Venmo account >> inventory secret, how do you explain that? I'm not going to lie, honey. I needed to pee my kids. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. He's not going to save me or help me now. >> I understand. I appreciate it. So, what what did you do, Bailey, when you were in when you were in the bedroom? How did you get that credit card information? >> It was just sitting there. >> What was just sitting there? >> The the card. It was just sitting right there on the chair. Okay. Did you How did you copy down the the card information? >> I did write it on a piece of paper. >> Okay. And where'd you put the piece of paper? >> I threw it away after. [snorts] >> Did you only store the the credit card information on that piece of paper? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, like when you got home or anything, you didn't write it down on something else? >> You didn't put it in your phone? M >> okay. How many How many >> It's not just It's not just my phone. It's my phone and your mom's phone because my phone broke. So I used his phone and like >> But there was still another serious issue as the victim reported that a dangerous item was missing. Raising suspicions that Bailey may have stolen it while cleaning the house. >> What What am I missing here, Bailey? What have I What have we not talked about yet in regards to you cleaning that bedroom on May 3rd? Nothing. Nothing at all. Just the credit cards. Okay. So, the victim owned a firearm. The victim testified. So, she swears that she saw the firearm the evening prior to you and Ayana being in her home. >> Okay. >> Okay. She discovered the firearm was missing the day after you and Ayana were at her home. >> Okay. >> The only people in her home from that time were her, her young children, you and Jana. >> Oh, I didn't touch a firearm. I did not touch a firearm. I haven't touched a firearm or wanted to be around a firearm since I got shot three times. But I know someone else who really wanted to be around a firearm. He's on camera talking about how he couldn't wait to get his rights restored to possess a firearm. >> I need my firearm rights back. >> So I think you knew cuz it was literally like the day before. >> I don't remember where. >> Giovani. >> Talking to who? >> When DCF came to the Truman Street address. >> Uhhuh. >> At the end of March. You were still inside taking a shower. >> Mhm. He was talking with the DCF investigator >> saying that he couldn't wait for his gun rights to finally be restored >> since they had been taken from him because of his robbery charge and conviction. >> Yeah, he he's he just got off probation though, >> right? >> Not >> in the end, Bailey was charged with grand theft, credit card fraud, and identity theft. Financial hardship may explain why someone makes a bad decision, but it does not erase responsibility for stealing and misusing someone else's information. Once the evidence starts exposing the truth, changing the story can only make the situation worse. Worse yet, the suspect could barely control her own behavior. >> Nope. I'm going to grab me. Okay. >> Put your hands for what? Did you like touching my permission? >> Did you like that? On the 23rd of February 2022, officers received a call from a Goodwill store reporting a woman exhibiting unusual behavior. The store initially only intended to ask her to leave, but her behavior became increasingly strange. First, here is what happened when the officer arrived at the scene. >> Kind of slamming things around and she's layering up and it seems like she might be on something. >> Okay. Um, but definitely has come up with our stuff on, tags ripped off and kind of lurking, but we've been up front so she hasn't >> left out yet. So, >> hey there. I need you to come out. >> Oh, sorry. >> What for, sir? >> This police department. We need to talk to you. >> Why? >> Cuz we need to talk to you. >> For what? >> We'll tell you when you come out. >> Um, I'm just getting dressed. Okay. All >> right. You need to come out, ma'am. She just walking in circles to put my clothes back on. >> Put your clothes on and come out. >> So, what am I what am I doing wrong exactly again? >> Well, you're walking in circles. You're not getting dressed. >> Yeah, I am getting dressed. I have shirts on. >> Okay. You need to come out. >> Tell me what I'm doing and what I'm not doing. So, you >> need to come out or we're going to open the door and come in. >> Um, what do you mean you're going to open the door? Well, I'm getting dressed. >> You're walking in circles. You're not getting dressed. >> I'm absolutely getting dressed. >> What did I do wrong? Officer, >> you need to come out. The store doesn't want you here anymore. >> Oh, okay then. I'll walk right out. >> What's your name? >> I don't need to give you that. >> Are you here with anyone? >> Um, that doesn't matter. I don't need to answer that. She refused to step outside, causing the officers to question what she might have done inside the store. But then the employee provided a few more details that would add to the charges against her. >> You she [snorts] you said she was already ripping tags off. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> Did you see what she was wearing when she >> It's just a blue sweater that she had inside out. >> Um and then just a pair of slacks. her coat and the layers that she had on when she went into our restroom too wasn't what she came in with. >> Okay. Or she's causing disturbance with your customers. >> Okay. >> You need to come out. >> I will come out once I get my shoes off. >> Thank you very much, officer. I have not done anything wrong. >> So, as far as I know, I can keep moving right out of the store as soon as I open the door. >> You don't know what she came in. >> Did she drive here? I don't know. We didn't see that. Okay. >> All right. You need to come out. >> Excuse me, sir. I have not done one thing wrong. >> You need to come out. >> I don't need to come out cuz I didn't do anything wrong. I believe this story gratefully, but I don't need to answer to you. I haven't done anything wrong. What have I done wrong? Please tell me what I've done wrong. Please, what have I done wrong? Exactly. >> The woman continued hiding inside, sounding more worried with every word. The officers decided not to let it drag on and went inside. But the situation quickly escalated together and I'll be right out the door. >> Okay. >> You don't need to touch me. You don't need to come near me. >> Okay. Um I need you to come out here. >> I get that. But I'm going to bring my things. >> Nope. I'm I'm >> grabbing me. >> Okay. >> How are your me for what? >> For retail theft right now. >> I didn't steal anything. >> I didn't even steal anything. What did I freaking steal? I got >> Please show me what I stole cuz that's my jacket. I already got that here. >> All right, >> you guys are ridiculous. >> My [ __ ] fault. >> Come on out. >> I need my phone. >> Come on out. Let me adjust these quick stealing things. >> Fall off. >> I didn't steal anything. Why are you taking me to jail? >> Because you were taking pags off. Okay. >> I did not take any tag off. That's That's illegal to do things like that to merchandise before >> to do with me stealing. I did not want >> before you you pay for something. Okay. >> I kind of fell off cuz I had a lot of in my dressing room. >> These don't fit super good. >> So I don't appreciate you. >> Let me get the different cuffs. Stop. Stop. Okay. You're doing that to yourself. >> You just prank me. >> No, I did not. Okay. >> I figured whatever, bro. >> I'm going to get her out of the store as quick. But >> I want to stay with this stuff. Should I get my shoes or should they get to pizza? [snorts] >> She still insisted that she had not taken anything out of the store. But while she continued to deny it, the officers and employee were adding up the items involved and the final total was far from small. >> I don't do that. [snorts] Could you guys grab me a clean or a separate cart >> so I can start organizing what's hers and what's >> what's your guys' >> side? [clears throat] [snorts] Oh, sure. >> I apologize. Um, before you toss it, could you add it up and give me a a total? But yeah, I can do that. >> The officers also confirmed they found no drugs, but she was clearly under the influence of something as her behavior in the car was far from normal. Come MPD raises their kids and to be those [ __ ] and got murdered by the [ __ ] Mexicans for robbing their all day long. [screaming] Hi. >> Are you ready for this? Sure. >> Oh my. >> She's mad at me because I touched her. >> I was just making sure she didn't. >> Dispatch said they called me and said they don't want to call you cuz they heard her in the background. They said something wonder if they should confirm the DLC warrant. They said something about uh >> But that still wasn't enough to calm her down. After being taken to the hospital for a medical check, she continued yelling and confronting those trying to control her. >> Yeah. No, we we we confronted that. >> Hey, I'm not getting this. I have a lot to marshals. I'm not coming. >> This is where this is where we're going. >> Not bring a nurse out here right now. >> There's sick people here. Do you understand? >> All right. Go ahead. >> Did you like touching my >> permission? Did you like that? >> Yeah. Cuz that's still still violating the mother. You don't have to sit on the bed. >> Thank you. You don't got to tell me how I need to >> cuz you ain't God, are you? Are you God? You need to tell me my business, are you though? That [ __ ] described my and didn't even tell me. Hey, I'm going to be checking you to see if you have anything in your private areas. Do you think somebody deserves that much respect? No, she just grabs like it's her business to do so. But hey, a is a you know what I'm saying? a person I talked to somebody against her will >> would you would you like me to explain it to you >> I'd like to I'd like to explain my actions that's how >> I'm sorry I >> can I help you >> in the end Krishna was found guilty of disorderly conduct after entering a no contest plea she was sentenced to 30 days in jail and prohibited from contacting any goodwill store for 1 year unusual behavior or intoxication does not excuse disruptive conduct When officers are trying to resolve a situation, refusing to cooperate and continuing to escalate can lead to serious consequences. >> Can you stop doing so tight? You're embarrassing me. And you're doing extremely tight like >> you think it's funny and you're going to kick out of me. I work my ass off. >> Okay. So, >> on the 26th of May 2023, officers received a call from Walmart about a woman suspected of skip scanning at the store. They had no idea that this woman would leave them with an unforgettable encounter. Here's what happened when they arrived at the scene. >> Step out. That way she pass the points of sale. Bro, that way we can have her for a stop. Unless I can get her with theft now with her skip. >> If if she's skip scanning and she's putting stuff in the buggy. I mean, it's kind of articulable if she's >> Oh, yeah. Good then. >> She's putting it in. >> Yeah, she's putting it in the back. But she's not skip scanning everything. Just some stuff. Yeah. So there is I mean at this point that's >> my criteria is like concealing or storing in a way. >> Okay. So we all we can get >> one. The officers approached the woman while she was still carrying out the suspected skip scanning, catching her off guard with their sudden arrival. Hey ma'am. Ma'am, doctor police department. I need you go ahead and put your hands behind your back. You're under arrest. Okay. >> Why am I under arrest? I'll >> explain it to you. Go ahead and put your hands behind your back. >> No, you need to tell me what I'm going to do. >> I don't resist. >> Stop resining. >> Hey, if you resist this loosen your hands up. What am I doing? Wow, I've been checking out that that's >> No, I'm really checking out >> this whole time buying stuff. I have money. Is that the issue? >> I know she has money. >> Do you want me to show you my debit? Where's that? >> Oh, let's see. Where did they go damn phone at? >> Is this their buggy as well? >> Is yours? >> Yeah. I went and got another buggy to put the stuff in. >> We're go ahead and we're going to walk to the office over here and >> Okay, but can you stop doing so tight? You're embarrassing me for yourself. And you're doing extremely tight. >> Eventually, you're under my authority. >> Okay, but I'm going to give you the most highest respect just like you're giving me. But second, >> some respect and we're going to walk you off. Okay, this isn't enough for debate. Walker. >> She was okay. I didn't steal. Not and I leave the store and nothing stepping out though. >> She was embarrassed, worried that everyone would look at her like a criminal even though she had actually been stealing. But her composure did not last long as she soon became the one who escalated the situation. >> Let go. Stop. Don't tight. Excuse me. >> I promise you about to go to the ground. >> No. You're about to get in trouble and lose your thing. I know my rights. You're detaining me and it hurts me. Okay. >> And there's no reason to you for you to be that aggressive. I'm sorry if you have problems at home, but I ain't it. >> Then I think this is I'm sorry. >> I don't know. This is all a part of what she was scamming prop. >> Yeah, you'll see a lot of crazy. >> Huh. And I'm getting arrested when I have $600 in my account. That's what blows my mind. >> Yeah, that really bothers me that they that had to go down like that. You guys could at least wait until you thought I was at the door or something. I hope I'm not Oh my god. I hope my phone's not on there. Yeah, I do pray. >> Inside the loss prevention office, the woman became even more uncooperative. >> No, but you don't need my ID until you're telling me why I'm being detained. >> I told you you're being detained for what? >> Pending investigation in the shop. You're not getting your name? >> No, I refuse. >> So, you're going to catch a resisting charge on top? >> You are resisting my rights. This is my right. And I will be practicing charges and I will be making a big ordeal about this. Let me go, please. >> At this point, you are under arrest. >> How shoplifting? >> I never shoplift. >> We're not going to talk about it now. >> No. Yes. Prove to me how I shoplift >> on video. You're shoplifting. >> Where does he show I shoplift? >> You skip scan. Come on. >> How did I skip scan? Show me. You cannot arrest me. I refuse. You need TO CALL YOUR BOSS. CALL YOUR YES. Call your supervisor. >> The car. You're going to call your supervisor. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO TELL ME YOU CAN'T ARREST ME WHEN I DIDN'T DO NOTHING? >> What seemed like the breaking point was not the end of it. She continued to escalate the situation when officers placed her under arrest, even becoming physically resistant. >> NO. >> You just watched the whole video. Let's go. You guys are hurting me. It's okay. If you would stop doing too much, YOU WOULDN'T BE HURTING. >> You're wrong. I didn't even steal your car like a circus. >> I just told you I didn't check nothing. You couldn't find one item that I stole and you're still hurting me. Who does that? >> Oh my god. I swear that's my cigarettes. >> Why are you in my pockets? No, you have no right to search me. No probable cause. YOU ARE BEING SUSPICIOUS. >> NO, I'M NOT going to jail because I didn't do anything. >> I don't know where you got the idea that this is on your terms, BUT IT IS NOT. >> IT'S ON MY TERMS cuz you're you're misusing your rights. You're misusing your privileges when I didn't take nothing. It'd be different if I took something, but I couldn't. And I didn't even finish getting checked out. I swear you started me so much trouble for doing this. It's not okay how you guys just treated somebody like that. You guys are looking. You're looking for a reason to put me in jail. That's it. That's horrible. That is so horrible. My wallet, my liner, and my makeup. My phone was at the register. I need my phone, too. >> Can you please go get my phone? >> Huh? The blue one? >> Yeah, I think it's all cuz I shouldn't be going to jail. I didn't check nothing. [ __ ] up for this. If you think it's funny and you're getting a kick out of me, I work my ass off for my money. >> So, >> so what am I being arrested for? >> Even inside the patrol car, she continued to let her arrogance take over, shouting and venting her anger uncontrollably. >> Like, we have like this. >> Okay, >> I will call corporate. I promise. I hate him so much. I hate the cops. I didn't even get to Check it out for them to call me stealing. I'm not going to let this get away. You're not getting away with this on my son's life. In the end, the woman was arrested for shoplifting and resisting arrest. This incident shows how denying wrongdoing and resisting officers can quickly turn a shoplifting case into a much more serious situation. Instead of cooperating, her continued hostility and resistance only made the consequences worse. Next, this couple believed they were entitled to be treated with respect even after committing their crimes. >> Yeah, you you don't have Hold on. You have every right to put your gun out, but the only time you pull a gun out OF >> On the 11th of August, 2023, officers were dispatched to a local convenience store after reports that two repeat shoplifterss who had already been trespassed had returned to the property and were causing another disturbance. If you're going to come off rude and disrespectful, then what are you going to expect that other person to be poly and nice? No, you're going to come off rude. You're going to get it back. What was the other hand? >> The other hand was we came in here earlier. He had money in his car. >> Let's come out here. Okay. >> To avoid disrupting other customers entering and leaving the store. The officers moved the pair to another location to hear their side of the story. The woman immediately claimed that they were the real victims. >> She overcharged him $6 for the lighters. The lighters are only $1.70. So, he went and he said, "Okay, well, let me go get my girlfriend." I came in here and I started being real nice to her. I said, "Okay, you guys charge him for a lighter and then he wanted the rest in gas." She says, "There was no trans transactions or funds on his car." I'm like, "Okay, well then how did he get the lighter?" If there was no funds on his car, how did he get the lighting? She came off disrespectful. So, I'm going to be honest. I went and went ballistic up in here. And I told him, "Oh, okay. So you guys are going to stand here and say you had no funds on his card, but yet then you guys go ahead and give him a lighter. I said, "Okay." So you know what? I went ballistic and I left. And then when I checked his card to see if they even took his money, they took his money. They overcharged him $6. And on his bank statement, it showed that they never did the transaction the right way. So we came over here >> and I was going to open the door just to come in here and say, "You know what? But then they started going ballistic started being rude. So then here comes my crazy ex. >> According to the initial report, the store accused the woman of threatening people with a stick. Moments later, her own account confirmed that allegation when she admitted she had brought the stick to intimidate them. And then his little rude ass over there opens the door and puts a gun at me. What happened is um the lady pulled up out there, the lady and the man pulled up out there and then um I was in I was doing stuff here and Courtney said she's back. I said back. I called 911. So then you could see her in the back of the truck looking for something, pulling stuff out and looking for something and then so I was talking to 911 and then um he got out and he locked the door and they're like, "Who's walking over here?" >> Who locked the door? >> The gentleman. Well, she's taking the stick and beating it on the window and trying to break the window to come in and saying that she was calling them names and you know stuff like that and saying that they stole her money and everything else and she was going to get them. >> Meanwhile, the man became increasingly agitated by everything that had happened. Concerned that he might do something reckless, the officers tried to calm him down before leaving the scene. >> You guys want me to die there? >> No, >> we we don't want you to die, man. We don't want you to get in trouble, okay? So, just relax, okay? >> No, it's not going to be a Iraq slate today for me because I'm not my partner. You are up, man. She paid a total of $67 for all that. >> According to the store's statement, she appeared to have manipulated the system in a highly sophisticated manner. The manager also reviewed the surveillance footage and pointed out the items whose prices she had altered. >> A deep action scrub, fresh mist, do uh Dr. Tig bubble bath, all this crap, washcloth. >> How many baskets did she walk out with? >> Yeah. >> Well, I don't know on this one. She typed in those 10 codes. >> No, there's no You don't have to type in 10 codes to change the price. >> So, she could put in one code and change all the price that she bought all those things that she bought. I'm trying to >> technically Yeah, technically. Yeah. And then she said, "Why do you want me to walk you through it?" >> You told him all this in your tape statement, right? All this came out in your tape statement. >> No, not that. >> Well, you can just go ahead and bookmark that now. It's >> Yeah, go ahead and mark it if you're listening to it. >> It's more for us. >> Yeah, no problem. >> So, go ahead. So I told her I I asked her why were you doing it and she didn't want to talk and I said I know you moved from Pokei down here with your baby. You're by yourself. I know you're struggling and she nodded her head yes. I said so tell me how did you process it through the selfch checkout. I and she said she used the number. I said what number did you use? And she said there was a number posted on the wall that I was using. I said so walk me through the procedure. And she said, "Why do I have to walk you through it? I don't want to talk anymore." And and I said, "I'm going to call my ride. I want to [music] leave." I said, "Well, I can't hold you." And that's when she stood up and left. >> So, do we know where she lives at? Does she have an actual address there? >> That's the address she gave me. >> And once again, paperwork's the same for me. It doesn't really matter, right? You're going to upload everything, whatever. If you don't want to talk to us, that's fine. You don't have to talk to us. >> Okay. >> So, yes or no? >> Um, so you said get a card. >> All right. We need an answer. >> I have my daughter in here. Is that where I can get a card or something? Give me uh >> Okay, I'm about to put my shoes on. >> That's fine. We'll let you do that after. >> Okay. >> Give me this. Go and turn around. The officer then explained what she would be facing moving forward. >> Investigation. It's about an incident at uh Dollar General that you probably you probably already know. Okay. So, get her her shoes cuz we're going to make this as easy as we can. make sure she doesn't have anything on her, okay? Cuz she can't go to the jail. All of my paperwork is pretty much done. Okay. I got to run over to our substation, change a couple numbers, print it out, have him sign it, and I'll take her up there. At that point, they'll process it, right? It'll take I don't know if you've been to jail before or whatever. It's usually an hour or two that they go through this process. There's a bunch there's a whole phone bank in there. If you got a phone, she's going to call you. They'll let you know if you have a bond or not. Okay. I don't know that. Okay. Any questions? >> You get your shoes for? Do >> you have anything on these properties? >> No. Earrings. >> Can we take your earrings out? Does she have one on this side >> and the nose if possible? Cuz they're going to take it there for sure. >> So, you're good. So now you have some numbers, right, that you can call. So, I just don't know if she gets a bomb or not. >> The woman was charged with grand theft for exploiting her employee access to manipulate merchandise prices and steal thousands of dollars worth of goods.
