so on October 1st there's gonna be some changes to the cell phone and distracted driving law it's currently the unlawful to operate a motor vehicle while using a mobile communication device law but there's some new changes that are going to come to it that make it illegal to hold or otherwise use any electronic device so that could include your phone your iPod your iPod touch your mp3 players your tablets it could be any electronic device that's in some way distracting to you and you're you know holding it in your hand or otherwise using it so you're encouraged if you're 18 years or older to use a hands-free device you know headphones or a Bluetooth or whatever and that's for 18 years of age or older and then what you are allowed to do is when you get that important call or whatever that you want to answer you're allowed to use a single touch or swipe to either activate deactivate the phone or app other than that if you get some call or text or you know you need to do something with your electronic device you got to pull over get a pull over in either to a legal parking spot or a you know a safe the spot on the shoulder or whatever and put your car in park and and then take care of what you need to do you can't do it on the roadway you can't do it while you're stopped at a red light can't do it while you're stuck in traffic waiting for a bridge waiting for the train so you got to be out of the roadway to deal with your electronic devices
