We had license plates. >> N All right, you play if you want to. I'm trying not to take you downtown for that. >> You >> I can if you want to lie about what you took. >> I was just playing. >> Is that everything? >> Yeah. >> If I go in there and the lady show me the video. This is all everything is. >> All right. All right, you can pull the house. >> Come on, let's go in there. >> No, I going to make you embarrassed. Come on. Put that bottle on your head. You can pull your own traffic. >> Yeah, let me do it. >> Come on. >> So, you got two options. You want to pay for it >> or you want to Well, what you want to do? >> Ban her from the stove. >> That's it. And get her up out of here. >> Yeah, I'm cool. Just come back in here. >> I'll be back with the paperwork so you can sign it. me and you going to walk to the cruiser. >> So, with the store's decision, she was not prosecuted for theft and was simply trespassed and allowed to leave. That was exactly why the woman showed no remorse and did not even take the next steps with police seriously. >> This is informing you that you can't come back. I fill out this address and then you would sign here and then that's it. It's all you got to do. Fill out your information, sign here, and you'll be good to go. >> You don't need a social. >> I'm going to need that cuz I got to identify you. I can't read that. What's that? >> CN Johnson. >> C N A. I can look up your name and date of birth. What I'm saying is it easier to look at your social. It's up to you, though. All right. We didn't know her name. >> Well, you don't want to put your social on there. >> I didn't. >> You ain't got to. >> That's crazy. >> You ain't got to. >> Huh? Man, >> it's okay. >> I could look you up. I I can see if I can if I can find you. You good. >> No, no, no, no, no. It's okay. I'll let you do it. All right. Don't do that. >> I got to run. >> Why? >> What you mean why? >> Don't do that. Please don't. >> Why you acting like that? You got warrants or something? Do I got to detain you? >> Why you acting like that? >> Because I got to identify. You committed a crime, lady. >> I'm doing it right now. >> Okay. So, let me run you out. >> That was a social. >> Let me run you out and you'll be good to go. As long as you ain't got no >> If you were a thief, I advise you to be honest because things could have been handled with leniency. Behavior like this woman's only raised suspicion. But worse, once everything was exposed, your actions only added more charges if you did what she did in that moment. >> Back to you. >> So, you do got warrants, right? >> Yeah. Why you got to look at me up? >> Come on. Get in the car, bro. >> No behind your back. >> Put your hand back. >> Put your back. You fight me. >> I ain't trying TO FIGHT YOU. I WAS DOING ALL THAT FAULT AND I HAD TO STOP YOU TRYING TO DO ALL THAT D. Both of them BACK to do all that. >> I told you to chill, bro. I don't even want to take you to jail, bro. >> I stop running. >> I don't even want to take you to jail. >> Her choice to run only made everything much worse. But the woman did not realize that. Even getting her into the patrol car did not go smoothly at all. >> I was being cool the whole time. >> Why you mad? >> THAT'S SO UNNECESSARY. >> WHY YOU MANDLING ME? >> Going to hurt my hand like that. You got the right to put you right to you. >> Yeah. Are you charging me with something? >> Oh, yeah. I had to run. >> Damn. You did have a run. It was fun though, wasn't it? It wasn't fun. >> I ain't going to lie. I It was. It was. >> All right, Dallas. Come on, man. I was just playing with you. You know, I was like, I surrendered. >> It's all right, man. You still human. I'm sure you did it for a reason. What? I'm for real. I'm sure you did it for a reason. That's why I don't never hold nobody ashes personal. You never know what somebody going through. >> Bro, I got to do I got to take my proper precautions. You think officers out here just doing stuff without identifying who they talking to. >> All right, bro. >> In the end, the suspect was charged with theft, obstructing official business, providing false identification, and resisting detention. Running from a mistake only made things worse. Honesty could have brought leniency, but panic and deception only added more consequences. Worse, [music] the more this woman tried to hide evidence, the more her shoplifting appeared professional. >> And you provided in items that were not paid for on your person. >> Yes, I have. >> Okay. [music] On the 28th of November 2025, police approached a woman who had just exited the Best Buy store due to suspicion that she was involved in a theft at the store. She did not appear surprised by the presence of the officers. >> All right, let's go talk inside real quick. >> You want to go to uh LP's office? office. >> Want to go to your office? >> Yeah. >> All right. Come on. Let's go. You guys are checker first. >> Yeah, go ahead. >> Just looking for weapons. >> Weapons or anything? No. >> I don't even remember. >> In her bag, Nintendo Switch Joy-Con boxes were found neatly arranged. Yet, she tried to claim she did not remember, even though she knew everything. And at this point, she was forced to state the motive behind her actions. >> I was just trying to do something so I can try to make some money and pay for my dog. I swear it was so stupid. But I don't know what I'm going to do. I don't have that kind of money. >> Are there any weapons on your person? >> No. No. No. >> What's on your person that we should be worried about? >> Nothing. Just this >> 1934 injury. >> I have no idea. your shirt. >> They're $99. >> A piece. >> Yeah. >> This side just >> I don't even know what that is. >> And do you know how much? >> The stolen goods were valued at over $2,000. She appeared tearful and remorseful, but no real tears were seen, and she oddly seemed eager to go to jail quickly. >> Do you understand what I'm saying? >> So, when we asked you about, "Did you drive here?" And that's the way to start being honest. We could start actually talking about some stuff. >> Just take me to jail. That's what you're going to do. So, just take me, please, because I feel like I'm really going to be sick. >> Okay. Ultimately, we are going to end up going to jail. >> I know. >> Um, and I'm going to be honest. We do know that you drove your car here. Your car is in the parking lot. And we do know you were in the store earlier. >> It's not going to change the fact whether you go to jail or not, >> but I do know you were in the store earlier doing the same thing before you were stopped this afternoon. >> I can't I was in here and I went out to get my water. >> Okay. Because I you can see I'm >> This was earlier in the day and then you returned. >> No, right. No, no, no. >> Okay. >> I went right out, got my water, and came back in. >> Okay. >> I didn't go somewhere and come back. >> Okay. Is there anything in the car? >> No. >> Is the car paid off? Yes. >> Okay. So, >> ultimately, and I'm I'm going to be honest with you. I just came from investigations. I've been off the road for quite some time. But ultimately, what I would do is your car was going to be used in a crime. We do know that you went to from the store after stealing other items into your car. That car is a a tool used to transport stolen items. So, what I can do, I can seize your car. I don't want to do that to you, but I much rather you be honest. It turned out her eagerness to go to jail was to avoid further investigation of her vehicle containing stolen goods, suggesting theft was not due to hardship, but that it was her line of work. Her reluctance to allow a search of the vehicle reinforced that. >> My car, >> Miss K, this is not what I'm getting at. I don't want to do that, but I much rather leave it here properly parked and locked, but I'm asking you, are there items? And if not, are you giving can you give us consent to look inside the car to see if there's any more items that you may have placed inside? that >> because there's two different avenues we can go and honestly it's going to help you here because you're already getting arrested for this. Just take me to jail, please. Just take me to jail. >> So, your friend drove, but you have access to this car or the keys in your possession. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And so at one point you went enter entered the store prior to making contact with law enforcement and then you re-exited the store to go get your water from your car. >> Okay. Wait. So explain that again. I >> earlier today before you made contact with us, you entered the store >> and then you left to go back to your car to get your water, >> right? >> Okay. So you had ways to enter your car. >> Yes. >> And then you said you got your water. You came back inside and then that's when all this kind of transpired and then that's when you got stopped. Shortly after, police searched her vehicle. If you were wondering about the initial hall valued at over $2,000, this was the remaining part. >> 865 info. 865 info. >> Oh god. >> Is this from here? >> I have no idea. I think we need to take it on the list. I don't know if the other stuff's involved. >> That stuff I can't verify. It doesn't look right. It looks like situations. >> So, there's like a list of like places to go steal and stuff. Love it. >> Some's in our city, some's not. >> Here's the uh the rest of the stuff. How many is over there? >> That's the list. >> Um spots. >> It's definitely over. Uh >> that's all of it. >> Nope. >> Can you [ __ ] >> And you guys can look over the list. There's lists from like your store and there's like other there's other stuff that we can't confirm is stolen, but we think it's stolen. >> This was in her car. >> So, Melbourne. In the end, the woman was charged with grand theft over $2,000. She learned that trying to minimize or conceal evidence only deepened the consequences, and cooperation from the start could have reduced the severity of the outcome. Next, the woman also attempted to conceal stolen merchandise inside her pants. >> No, this is you're bully. >> I used to do that all the time. >> No, you're just rewrap them, but they might have been on bare skin, so I don't know. I would proceed with caution. Yeah, we're going to go ahead and uh get rid of them. >> On the 30th of August, 2023, police received a call from a woman who was suspected of having had her phone stolen, and the suspect was also believed to be in the same store as the victim. So, police promptly arrived at the scene to hear the victim's statement. >> So, my husband is in jail. Um, this she's literally a prostitute has my husband's phone and she's trying to sell it at the Yuko ATM. >> How do you know she has this phone? I tracked it here and she answered it before I turned it off. So, I turned it off like through T-Mobile and it's secured so I can unlock it. >> Okay. >> And everything. >> How do you know that it's uh How do you know this woman? >> Um he knows her through drugs and that he's in jail for him screwing her in my house. >> Sorry to hear that. Yeah. Nobody deserves that, right? >> Yes. Um >> sounds like a piece of work. Okay. Uh is I've been with him for 19 years. The drugs and I think there's something mental with him and >> all right >> just >> let me pull up over here. We'll go him >> not acting like himself. >> I want my stuff that me and him work for sold. >> I got you. What's she look like? >> She's taller than me. She's got red hair. It's up in a ponytail, but it's folded over. >> Bright red or just like red? Like orangey red? like a natural red hair color. >> How'd she get the phone? >> He gave it to her before he went to jail, but she's not supposed to be selling it. >> Is it shared property or who is it? You guys had it together. I assume you guys are married. >> We're on the same >> You think she has it with her right now? >> Yeah, she's trying to sell. >> Immediately after the police approached the female suspect. She denied everything and her explanations and excuses were confusing and suspicious. >> Yeah. Looks like also known as D. >> I have no idea. >> Do you have a phone that belongs to the woman up front and then we can just get back to her? >> I don't have a phone. >> No. No. I don't have a phone. I don't even know. >> You're not even >> What are you doing? Buying some food. Where's Taz? Where's your boy Taz at? >> Taz no more. >> Is it Taz's phone? >> I don't want our best baby. I don't know. >> I've been with Taz by D sometimes. >> Is Is Taz in jail right now? >> Is so you aren't with him? >> No, >> he's with some other girl >> and man. >> Is she a big girl? >> Um, she used to be brown here. Great brown hair. Let me >> see. You mind if I take a look? If you were an officer, you would need to be very observant as she kept bending over repeatedly, clearly suggesting she might be concealing something on her body. The officer at the scene also noticed this behavior. >> Are you just holding on to Taz's phone while he's in jail? >> We're just double checking. You definitely have >> I don't have a >> What's this? >> These are steak. I'm getting steak. >> No, this is not a steak. They're all snakes. >> Are you stealing stakes then? >> I'm not stealing stakes. >> Give me a break. >> Oh my god. You got crack pipes falling out all over the place. >> Stealing stakes. Well, I do every time. >> No, this is You're full of >> I used to do that all the time. >> No, you're drunk. I am. >> You were trying to steal steaks. >> I don't have a bar. >> You're missing something there. All right. Got another one. I don't have a car. Start. >> I don't have a phone. >> I'm not going to have a phone. >> What are you doing? >> I don't think Eric is your real name. >> You're prostitutes no more, so you don't know what to do. I'm not sure you can find >> lady. >> Immediately after the concealed items were pulled out, she was able to stand upright confidently. But strangely, she still kept denying the theft, which led the police to call in the loss prevention team. >> I'm Drew. Nice to meet you. I'm Drew. >> Hi. So, she had was it three or four down things? Three. >> One on each side and one down the front. >> I've never been in there. >> I don't know which one was down the front. >> But, um, the girl that looked like me got over. Um, it's our >> Well, we're here for something completely different. We just >> happened to notice she had large pieces of meat in her pants. >> She'll be officially banned from the store. There's a there's a notebook up front that you can just follow down the banner from the store. >> Okay. And then they'll let us take that picture. We'll add it in officially trespass. She comes up here again and they can they can you know actually file a charge on your name on the >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I was just going to give it out loud. Whatever you want to do, >> Erica. You hear that? You're not welcome back here. Sounds like you might have been already before. I mean, from this point forward, you acknowledge that, right? I know. >> It's in front of all these >> personnel here, right? >> Yeah. >> So, salvageable if you just rewrap them, but they might have been on bare skin, so I don't know. I would proceed with caution. >> Yeah, we're going to go ahead and uh get rid of them. >> I'd throw them in the incinerator, but even then, I can't guarantee that there won't be salvage. >> Thus, what started as a missing phone case shifted into a shoplifting arrest, which only showed that the woman was involved in multiple wrongdoing. Yet, she still did not display any remorse. >> If you come back here now, you'll be arrested for trespassing. Now that you've been notified, I wouldn't I would find a new um grocery store. >> Okay? >> You can't make decisions like this. This is not good. >> I know that you don't want to be a you know, do what you were doing before, >> but you you definitely can't be doing that. You got to generate some income somewhere else. >> I know. I know. >> You live with your mom. You still contact with your mom? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Well, then why don't you go take a shower, get dressed up, and go put some applications in. >> There's plenty of people looking to hire people. Did you ever end up having uh you were pregnant a couple years ago? >> Mhm. >> Where? >> There's going to be the report number. And I put her name on the other side of it, right? >> No, I put I put the suspect's name on it so you can put on your records. >> All righty. Uh, we didn't find her. I I don't There's somebody in the bathroom, but >> Okay, we're This girl was trying to steal a bunch of meat, so we got stuck on that. But yeah, I mean, >> yeah, >> sorry about your phone problem. >> Thanks, dude. Excellent. On the air. Uh, >> I'm still doing stupid [ __ ] >> It was just perfect. >> All right, so you're good. Stay away from this business. Do not come back in here. You'd be trespassed. You'd be taken to jail next time. That's the best we can do for you. All right. Good luck to you. Go find somewhere else to hang out. Get yourself a job. >> Pay for your stakes. >> In the end, she was charged with shoplifting and possession of stolen merchandise. [music] Repeated denial in the face of clear evidence only worsened her situation. Attempting to conceal wrongdoing and refusing accountability can quickly escalate a minor incident into serious legal consequences. Next, this woman even kidnapped her boyfriend over just $77 of shoplifting. >> See, I didn't even know that. Like, I bought I bought some cupcakes. I came home and she was running to the parking lot. >> On the 23rd of January, 2025, police received a report from Walmart about a woman who stole a propane cylinder and a heater, leaving [music] without paying, even as an employee tried to chase her down and stop her. Based on the description, officers quickly intercepted the suspect's vehicle. Here was what happened next. >> And the county are out at 21st and Hammond. >> It's definitely an older Buick. >> I lost visual. Bike deploying vehicles moving eastbound 28 coming up on traffic coming up the county. >> Yeah, they just bounced. >> Yeah, that's good. >> Car stopped at the tracks occupied wheels are blown out. The woman recklessly fled, even blowing past police vehicles with her tire already destroyed. Officers quickly caught up to the suspect, and what happened next turned completely intense. Come back further. >> Come back further. >> I can't hear you. >> So much. >> You guys hear me? Hey, can you just make sure your truck's locked here? >> Hey, uh, that girl. >> Yeah. >> You trying to cross the train? >> Okay, thank you. >> No problem. >> Is this the car we're looking at here? >> Yeah. >> If the train will clear, but we need someone across the other side. She took She got it over the train. >> What? She got over the train. >> Yeah, >> they would stop for a second. >> I I beg HER TO STOP. THEY SAID NOTHING TO DO WITH ME. >> How what did I do about the victim? >> The person detained at the scene turned out to be a man believed to be the suspect's boyfriend. He repeatedly shouted that he was the victim and his story even made it sound like this case may have taken a kidnapping turn. >> So that don't make sense. >> Yes. >> Okay. So obviously you were wondering obviously you're not driving, right? She fled from the police. >> And I I screamed at her, begged her to stop. That's my dad's car. My dad's car. He's going to kill me. >> Yeah, that's a felony. Okay. >> He's going to kill me. >> Also, she was we were doing a little stealing. >> See, I didn't even know that. Like I bought I bought some cupcakes. I came out and she was running to the parking lot. I had no clue what's going on. That stuff was already like like I seriously had no clue. Okay. >> Like I would have never let her in there. That [ __ ] pissed me the I don't want nothing to do with her. She also took the car. I kept telling her stop. I I'll press charges on that. >> Sure. You keep saying she. What's her name? >> I told you Natasha Stone. >> Natasha Stone. How do you know Natasha? >> I know her from Ashlin. >> Okay. >> She's actually my girlfriend, but not no more. >> And where she live? >> In Ashlin. >> In Ashland. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. >> I came over here to see my kids. >> Okay. It's all right. >> Well, I tell you what. I'm going to I'm going to look up some stuff real quick and we'll try to get you on your way. Okay. >> Something. I don't even know what I'm going to do. Like my dad's car is [ __ ] >> You don't have any wars or anything. >> No, but this is [ __ ] up. Like my dad's car is >> The woman was believed to have abandoned the car and fled the scene on foot, forcing officers to split into multiple teams and continue the search. occupants in the garage. Make yourself down. MCDONALD WILL FIND you and he may bite you. >> So, how do I how do I put a No. >> What is it that you wanted to press before >> for taking the car? I Well, not taking her. She She had permission from my dad to take the car, but I screamed at her. Stop. I I I don't know why she whether she wanted to flee. I said she didn't face her consequences. She [ __ ] peeled off. I screamed the whole time. Stop. Stop. Stop. Good. Good. >> Good to go. >> Yeah, you're good to go. If you see if you see a native lady wearing jeans, dark jacket, and white shoes, give 911 a call, please. All right. >> Thank you. >> Thank you. I mean, I had I as you I had my runins with a lot, but the thing is I grew up like I I I had two kids pass away two years ago in a tragic car accident and it's like the last thing I want is anybody around me that's negative. I [ __ ] just she's been telling telling me all these lies about how she's changed and she's she wants to be better and she's going to do better. A short time later, police received a call from a local resident reporting that a strange woman had broken into their home, matching the suspect's description exactly. That was the moment officers made it clear to her that there was no escaping anymore. >> Rachel of Pennsylvania ran towards the alley. Oh, our footprints over here. Oh, they Yeah, they are. Can I get it? Yep. Turn the heat up. >> Yep. I don't see anybody. >> Oh, here we go. >> Hi, police department. >> Uh, is your garage right back behind your house? >> Yeah, >> the door is wide open. >> Okay. >> Um, we uh we had someone fleeing from us. We found them. We apprehended them. Um, they may have been in your garage back there. So, I'm just letting you know the door is wide open. >> Okay. All right. Thanks. >> Yep. >> The woman was charged with shoplifting, felony fleeing from police, and resisting or obstructing an officer. Crime only gets worse when panic leads to more bad decisions, and running from responsibility often turns a small crime into far more serious charges. Next, let's move on to this chaos that didn't involve shoplifterss, just to change the vibes a little. >> Who is Hey, is there another sergeant? >> No, >> there's not. >> Can you step out of the vehicle, ma'am? Come on. >> Whoa. >> Come on. >> We're low. Get on the ground. >> Ow. Ow. >> On the 13th of October 2025, police were dispatched to a parking lot after receiving reports of a vehicle parked in a no parking zone with stolen registration tabs attached to plates that had expired in 2021. But behind that, even more suspicious signs remained. Here was what happened when police arrived at the scene. >> Sergeant, go forth. Can police be an audio and video recorded? You know, you were parked in a What parking zone? It >> it Well, my friend had to go and get cool cuz we always use them. So, >> okay. >> And I live here the parks. So, >> okay. When What unit do you live in? >> Okay. You know, the tabs on there don't belong to this car either. >> No, it wasn't car. So, no, I'm not sure. >> It expired in 2021 and there's tabs that don't belong to it. wait in to come back. >> You're in the driver's seat. >> I don't bring just in case I have to push it out the way. >> Okay. >> But you're in the driver's seat. So, you're possessing the car, right? And it's your responsibility as a possessor. >> I don't know. Cuz the reason this possessor of it is the car and I read because I can move it. I can push it. >> Okay. So, I push the car. >> What you got in that box there? Okay. >> What? >> I said, "Okay." >> That's a weird response to a box that's sitting right next to you. >> Can you step out here for me? >> Did I do something wrong? >> 142. Can I have a second, please? >> Can you step out of the car, please? >> Yeah. Did I do something wrong? >> You have a lighter in your hand. There's a box there. There's a jar right there. Um, consistent with possible drug paraphernalia. You have tabs not belonging to the car. Car is not registered to you. uh you're associated to a unit. Drugs are known to come to and from. >> Faced with the suspicions raised by police, the woman could not deny anything. And for refusing to get out of the car, she had her reason for it. >> You're refusing to step out. >> I'm saying, what did I do wrong? >> I just listed off all the things. And we have a signed trespass agreement here. Okay. >> Yo, what? >> Signed trespass agreement with the property. >> Yeah, but I live here. >> Okay. >> So, and I'm just waiting for it to come back. >> Okay. I just listed about six reasons why I would like you to step out of the car and you didn't listen to one of them. >> I did listen to them, but I didn't break any laws by sitting here. >> Okay. You know what, Terry? Your reasonable suspicion is means it's not quite probable cause, but I have reasons to believe that crime is a foot. >> So, you think I'm coming in here? Why am I sitting here? >> I believe there's possibly drug paraphernalia in this car. Yes. >> And where do you where where where would you believe that? >> Where? >> I'm not I'm not going to do this. So, are you willing to step out or no? >> I'm asking where what I where >> I've asked you to step out about five times. >> I have a lighter in my hand. I smoke cigarettes. I'm allowed to have a lighter. >> Okay. >> I'm allowed to have a lighter, right? I'm over 21. >> Sure. >> And I'm allowed to smoke cigarettes, right? >> Sure. >> So, why wouldn't I have a lighter? >> Okay. Right. >> I didn't do anything. I'm waiting for him to come back. The car is overheating. I'm waiting to come back. Only can push it. So, okay. This car is not going anywhere. >> I'm here to push it. >> Okay. Well, has tabs not belonging to me. Step out of the car, please. This is number six time I've asked you. >> What does that mean? >> You're going to exit the car. Exit the car. Exit the car. >> Okay. He's telling me >> exit the car. The tabs on here don't belong to this car. >> No, this is Hold on. This >> You need to step out. We're going to pull you out. You need to step out. >> Hold on. I'm You need to know what we're saying. Step out. >> Okay. Don't Don't >> We won't if you step out. >> Okay. Don't touch me, please. >> It could be said that beyond six orders for the woman to get out of the car. Police had also explained their suspicions many times, but she paid no attention and kept acting innocent to make things harder for officers. >> And what did I do wrong? >> I've already explained it all. >> What did you explain to me? I'm trying to get my shoe. Obviously, it's a foot. >> Okay. >> What did I do by sitting there? >> He's not telling me what I did and you guys put your hands on me. Is there a sergeant? >> Yeah, he's a sergeant. >> Who is? Okay. Is there another sergeant? >> No, >> there's not. Can you step out of the vehicle, ma'am? Listen, if you just complied, everything would be good and we would talk. >> Obviously, I'm pushing my shoe forward. So, I got like my shoe on. >> Ow. >> Okay. >> My shoe. >> How about this? I would want to work with you on that. Okay. She's saying she has fentinyl in her bra. >> Yeah. She had a pipe in her shoe. >> I told you something was in my shoe. At that moment, the store employee also provided some information about the incident. >> Hi, what's going on in my school? Did she just walk down the store? He's going to let her pay for it. But she literally stole that both of those bags from him while he was helping another customer. I was just coming in to work and he told me about it. So I said, "I'll help you look cuz he's going to lose his job." That's over $1,000 worth of bags. >> Okay. >> Now she said she's going to pay for it cuz she thought she could just walk. >> I'm sorry. I need to come down. >> Thank you. That's why I got >> I can show you on camera right now if you want. >> Is like 700 something bucks and the backpack itself is like 450 something bucks. She's trying to say that she thought this was one of like you know how like Amazon has stores where you can like grab stuff and walk out and then charges it to your account. She's saying it was like that but like the video that she just got, you can tell she walks up, grabs it, she steps over here like looking and she's looking and then she walks in like right there for a second and then she just walks out back. The store manager confirmed that this was an intentional theft with no mistake involved. Shortly after, officers approached the female suspect who still had many excuses to justify her actions. There's places that you walk in and out and that's I said it was scand walk out. I wasn't trying to live without it. I sat on my gate. I'm not trying to do anything. I'm willing to pay for it. And I apologized to him. He said he could lose his job. And I'm I feel really bad. I really do. And I I did not switch tags. I have my my bag over there. I didn't do anything to Miss Sky. I I was just sitting on my gate. >> Yeah. Okay. >> I just came from work honestly and I'm going on a on a trip on Friday. So I need a bag. I saw it. It was busy and I thought it was like a thing that you can I mean most stores in in any other airport I travel a lot. You can walk in and out and they scan as you walk out. >> Okay. >> In Minnesota they doing it like all over and it's my bad. >> I didn't even look. >> I didn't even look. I need it for the weekend. That's what I'm like was trying to buy it. >> Okay. Give me a second. I'm talking. The woman denied the act as described by the store, but several suspicious details in her behavior were questioned by the officers. >> Yeah, I'm not interested in the story. Where are the tags at to? >> So, I went to the bathroom. I used the bathroom and I need I needed this for the weekend. >> No, where the tags and I went back. >> You go get the tags. >> Yes. And they're not there. >> Okay. >> It's all the bathroom factory. >> Okay. All right. I did look >> the possibility is >> that if she does purchase it, he >> he's fine with it. >> That that is an option. But if he can't sorry, >> but if he can't find the proper tags for that, >> then >> can they run the other ones that are like the same? I mean, there is like I look at >> it'll be up to him. Not then he's not going to. >> So you went back to look at When did you go back to look for the tags? >> Just now. She let me go. >> Just now and I left my bag here. >> Wow. >> And I said there I I mean I went to the bathroom from here to the bathroom and then to the gate. Actually I went to the lounge and then to the gate. So they cleaned out the bathroom. >> Thus the woman disrupted the sale of the items she intended to take. Yet she still believed it was a minor issue to the point that she thought she could simply leave. Can I tell my gate that I'm late or >> am I going to miss my flight? You think >> just get I mean normally I mean if it's a 210 >> Well that 2 Yeah. I have time. I think I have it. >> I mean just depends on Where's your gate at? Which gay would you >> right here? Are they here? >> In No, in Minnesota. I came for work. >> Okay. >> So, I I was buying it to go on a trip to Mexico in Minnesota. >> But I can't remember. >> Okay. >> Can you Can you run another color? >> No. >> Right. I promise. >> I came for work. >> On his end, >> he has to do something with his inventory that he >> without having the tags. >> Yeah. >> There's nothing he can do. >> Yeah. >> So, in that case, uh >> I have jeans. >> Then I'll choose all the table. I don't know. Like, >> can I just buy another? >> I mean, it's the same exact thing. >> So, what's the what is the >> You're under arrest. >> Oh, >> all the options the woman proposed completely failed. And at that point, the officers informed her of the charges she could be facing. >> What is the >> You're under arrest. >> Oh, so why can I just pay for it? I swear to God, >> we can't mess up his system. He doesn't have another wine um backpack back there. So, you're there's no other choice. We can't eat a cipher because you're not from here. And it's it's class A misdemeanor, so you're gonna have to go to jail. >> Can I just buy a black one instead? >> He can't mess up his inventory. Like I said, I mean, >> can I call the company? I mean, can I >> I mean, it's not the same the same code. It's in the same. So, do you have anybody on the line with Delta right now? >> Yeah, I'm I have somebody online. Can we look in the bathroom or maybe with the lady that cleaned the bathrooms? >> I mean, >> can I can I go do Can we go do that? >> There's going to be virtually impossible to track down which person cleaned out. >> There is like there it's like right here. We looked really quick. >> I apologize. like you already looked. You said that the >> there was blonde bathroom that I Hello. >> It was clear that she was highly manipulative from trying to downplay her wrongdoing to pleading to pay in order to leave. But none of it could change the officer's decision. >> Black one, can we look in the bedroom one more time, please? >> Okay. >> Please go and take your satchel off and go and take your fanny pack off. I've still got your ID. Can >> can we please look in the bathroom one more time? Maybe the lady is there. Garbage is there. >> Can I dig into the garbage? >> You've already said you. >> No, I didn't look into the other garbage. Can I please take that? >> Please. Please. >> You're under arrest right now. >> You can leave this by your dog. >> Are you here with someone? >> No, I'm by myself. I came for work. >> Okay. >> I just came to drop off a dog for a sick woman. That's what I do. That's literally what I do. >> Can you Can you go to the bathroom with me, please? >> We definitely can't walk inside of W's bathroom. >> What? See that again? >> We can't walk inside of a woman's bathroom. >> No, I will go in. >> We We >> No, >> we can't. We can't do that. >> I did not mean to do that. I swear to God. >> This is horrible. >> Unfortunately, if we had the tags, we might be able to go a different route. >> I wish I wouldn't take them out. I didn't want to walk around. >> I wish you didn't take I wish you didn't take the suitcase from the beginning. >> I know. I know. I should have asked. I was busy. I >> No, you should have bought it. Instead of asking, you should have just bought it. >> I I swear that there are so many stores in Minnesota. You walk out and they charge you. >> I've been to those, but you also have to use your card to go inside the store. >> In the end, the woman was charged with theft. Her attempt to downplay the situation and manipulate the outcome only made things worse because once a line is crossed, no excuse can undo the consequences. Next, this group of shoplifterss proved to be far worse than expected. >> All right. Um, >> four. >> How much that costs? >> 25 26 a can. >> Before I pull my gun out, you going to piss me off. >> Three times. Yes. Birds of a feather, they flock to get, right? See, you're already finishing it for me. >> So, you know, you had to have some sort of knowledge of what they were doing. >> After a while, yes, I did. I'm not going to lie. But >> I said, I ain't I ain't stealing the stuff. So, I get you. >> You get what I'm saying? I ain't stealing it. They ain't catching me doing nothing like when I was going. >> But what conversations are you guys having in the car like they you driving them around, they get out, they going to a store, they come back. What are they what are they talking? >> They just be like, "Oh, oh yeah." Like just like happy, I guess. You know what I'm saying? Like >> happy cuz what how you get away with something. You get what I'm saying? That that type of >> like they boosted the store. Nah, they they didn't catch us this time. Blah blah blah. that that type of >> it really be like >> no conversation or we going here there there like >> just driving me like you see I don't have no map in my phone saying >> like if I pull up my map you I'm not >> GPS oring nothing I'm just >> if they put the map in this go that way that way >> in contrast to the driver the other woman in the group appeared completely unable to stay calm and her words came off even more tense and aggressive minds as reporting. >> Not here, but up north there be a lot of you know >> what? >> Killing with policees. >> I'm from up north and I was a cop up north. There really wasn't that much you were talking about, >> man. No, I can see it on the news. You don't you know what? Killing know it be on our news down here. >> Oh, that's fine. But I'm telling you as somebody who actually experienced >> Okay. Yeah, I done experienced somebody lost their life too, sir. >> What's your name, man? >> Officer. >> I'm Lean. >> Nice to meet you. My hands are dirt. >> Oh, no. Yeah, I can't. Yeah, I can't give you doubt anymore. >> Yeah. >> Can't give you doubt. 12 or >> you know. Hey, it's it's it's a great world, you know. >> Is it all of them or just >> you want to do one at a time or three? [clears throat] >> You just going to waste it like that? >> Right there. Yeah. >> While officers were dealing with the two primary theft suspects, the driver quietly walked away as if she had nothing to do with the situation, but she was quickly stopped by police. >> So, we we have several people involved in in in this like policeman, detectives, and stuff because of of this entire mess. The other detective is arresting your cousin, which is the female. >> Mhm. Right. And arresting also Antonio was his name. >> Antonio Marty. >> Okay. All right. So on unfortunately that detective says that you got to go too. So kind of like an accessory thing. I know. I mean I'm sorry but that's that's where we're at. >> Well let me Yeah. I'll I mean I'll I'm going to help you through this cuz you were you were helpful with with with this entire thing. But that's not my call. You know what I'm saying? So, it's a it's a it's it's it's basically a misdemeanor. Do you know what that means? >> Yeah. Don't come, baby, cuz they about to take me cuz he just told me just now when I was sitting here waiting. >> Yeah. I was just telling that the investigation led to >> just for being like like a like a what you call that? accessory. He said >> kind of an accessory >> kind of >> assisting and this and that. >> It's like it's a misdemeanor. He said though. >> He said the other detective said I have to go because you know I was the driver basically. >> So then what he told me to leave I just left my dog. >> An officer returned to the store shortly after where an employee who had witnessed the theft provided a statement about what had happened. >> Store manager came. >> Okay. Carly's your store manager. >> We're not store manager. shift. >> Okay. >> And I was she was like, "What happened? What happened?" I was like, "They're stealing, you know." And then there one one of them white shirt and raggedy pants. >> Okay. >> And she had dreads. >> About how tall was she? You think >> at least a little bit? No, she's my height. >> Okay. And then So what what how did you know that they had stolen her formula? >> Oh, cuz when I was in the aisle, the first thing one was holding the bag open and one was just stuffing stuff in. >> Okay. So which one was holding the bag open? >> The gay dude. >> Okay. And who was stuff in the bag? >> The one with the the >> white t-shirt. Okay. They fled. They held me back. >> Okay. So we uh we actually detained them. We found the vehicle that they were in. Um, and on behalf of Walgreens Corporation, do you wish to press charges? Okay. And the total you you did all the ringing up. So, what was the majority of the items that was stolen? >> All three suspects were ultimately charged with retail theft exceeding $750 and resisting the recovery of stolen property, while the driver was also held accountable as an accessory to the crime. Being aware of a crime and choosing to stay involved can be just as damaging as committing it yourself. Because in the eyes of the law, silence and presence can turn into accountability. Next, [music] the woman panicked when she realized she had done something wrong. >> They said they were going to give me money if I went and did that for them. If I cash it for them, >> you cannot forge and steal money from people bank accounts. >> On the 22nd of November 2023, police recorded a suspected fraud case at a bank. The woman, identified as a suspect, used a check originating from a vehicle burglary in Lake Mary, where multiple checks had been stolen. Upon arriving at the scene, the woman appeared anxious and suspicious. >> Um, >> hi. >> Can I talk to you for a second? >> Um, >> come over here. You don't have any weapons or anything on you? >> I mean, I have my my pocket knife in here. >> Where is it? >> It's in my wallet. >> Okay. Can you set your wallet down for me, please? >> Yeah. What's going on? >> I'll explain it to you in a second. Put your wallet down for me. Your pocketk knife's in here. >> Yes. >> That was on 102. Did you [snorts] drive here? >> No. I had I had a friend bring me >> in which car? >> I don't really know honestly. I just met >> You don't know which >> friend brought you here in which? >> I had just met them. But >> okay. >> Like am I in trouble? I don't want to be in trouble. I >> Well, you tell me. So, why would you be talking to me? >> Somebody here called us, wanted us to talk to you. Do you know why? >> No, I don't. >> Okay. Which uh one of these cars took you here? >> I really don't know. I don't even see it anymore. >> Well, you you're not even looking >> cuz I came in that way. >> You came on this side? What did the car look like? >> I don't know. It was like It was like a bluish gray. I really don't know. >> A bluish gray car. >> Okay. Many factors indicated that this woman was behind a fraud organization. She was given a voucher slip with the task of cashing it. Even her reaction when being reminded of the fake check also revealed her anxiety. >> So this is the only check we called the client. Client car was broken into last night >> and those checks were stolen. [music] >> Okay. >> And that's her ID information that she >> I don't know who they are. They just >> Okay. 155. Did she give a car that she said I'm in? saying she don't remember. >> I don't know who they are. They just they told me they would give me some money and trash [snorts] and that's it. I've had a really bad day. Like I didn't [clears throat] >> Come on outside for me. >> Come with us, officer. >> I didn't know. >> There you go. >> I really didn't know. >> There's a pocket knife in there. She has an impat down. So point out the vehicle. Come and take a look. >> I don't see it anymore. I really don't. I don't see it. It's not here. So, none of these cars are any of those occupied mark. >> No, the only one that was that was a truck that was pulled in right over here. >> I don't know where they went. They just I'm having a really bad day. >> Put your hands on top of your head and release them. I want to make sure you don't have any other weapons. Okay. You just had a All you had was that pocket knife. What's this in your pocket here? >> It's a tobacco. Gold. >> Hey, step out of the way out of the out of the so that people can go into the bag. >> What's your first name? Lisa. >> What is it? >> Lisa. I just I really don't want to get in trouble. No, >> you got gloves, man. Thank you. I'm going to make sure you don't have anything else on you, okay? Cuz you got a pocket knife in your in your thing, and I'm just going to make sure you don't have any weapons on you, all right? And then we'll talk to you about what's going on, okay? I just I highly recommend you be honest, okay? >> You know, I really don't know who they are. I just I got kicked out of my friend's house today and when I was leaving, they just they offered me to help them. They said they just didn't have an ID. They needed someone to cash the check. I don't even know who they are. I don't know their names. I I really don't. >> She admitted everything under pressure from the police. [music] At that moment, the police also returned to the store to collect additional statements to trace the origin of the check. >> Where was it stolen from? >> It's stolen from this lady's driveway >> in Lake Mary. >> Who met with her? >> Huh? >> Who met with her? Did she go one of the towers? >> She went to the towers and then she sat down in the lobby and we looked at the check. So, she met with Sheila. Okay. And what kind of made her spark her >> signature does not match. So on file does not match. >> So that's what cued her to say this is >> okay. Am I allowed to speak really quick? Okay. Which one was it? >> I'll have it come out. Sheila, can you come out just >> Can you bring your ID too, please? And so once uh she came to you about it. >> She came to me and Megan about it. I'm the branch manager. So >> what is your guys protocol from there? Do you reach out to the >> We reach out to the client before we do anything. If the client says she did not write a check to this person, then we call you guys back. >> Okay. >> Did you say this? Like was it just a burglary kind of just occurred or >> So yeah. So when I called to ask about the um and verify it, she said that someone broke into their vehicle last night and things were missing, but she wasn't sure what. So I guess there was the checks for the business and then now she just set up. >> Returning to the suspect, her mental state remained highly distressed. However, regarding her accompllices, she still provided no useful information or leads. >> He was just around random people and >> I don't usually ride with nobody. Random. It's just >> So you don't So So >> I was by the park. >> You was by the park and they brought you up in the cafe. >> Yeah. They took my bathtub and they took my [laughter] food. I just got thr and I got some food. I had my backpack in there. They said they didn't have an ID. They need me to cash it. So, I went to go in here and then I didn't see them anymore after that. >> Okay. So, you don't know who the driver was. You don't even know what kind of car was. You just got a random car just to buy a random car. >> They said they were going to give me money if I went and did that for them if I cashed it for them. >> Where do you live at? I don't know who it was, but I I just was staying with my friend and then I don't know got into an argument today and they told me that I had to go to the park or just go out for a little while to catch some bears and then let them cool down. >> Okay. So, you're homeless. You don't have any money? >> No. >> So, that's why you wanted to help out and try to get some money even though, you know, you knew better. You're not you're not stupid. We're talking. You're smart enough. You knew you shouldn't have done it, but what's done is done, right? Um, are you going to do it again? >> No, I'm fine. That was stupid. >> I don't even know why I got in the car with that. >> It appeared that she was also trying to present herself as a victim in an attempt to avoid responsibility. However, she could not easily get away with it as the police had already taken action. >> Don't think you're being entirely honest with us. I have a hard time. >> I am. I really don't KNOW WHO THEY ARE. I was walking. Well, let me tell you something. Along with those checks last night, a gun was stolen. >> I don't know ANYTHING ABOUT THAT. I KNOW. I tell you where I was. LIKE, I HAVE AN ALIBI FOR YESTERDAY. I was not >> What do they look like? >> What do they look like? The people that brought you [snorts] >> They're like the one guy, he was like not Hispanic, but it kind of like looked Asian. He wasn't like a >> I don't I honestly don't remember. It was like a blackish bluish color. They parked right there next to a van. And when I looked out when I was in line, they were gone. And one guy, he had tattoos everywhere on him. I don't know who. >> So why why is what you just told all of us different than what you told them inside? >> I really don't know who they are. >> It was your family from Ohio. I thought >> I said that because she was just talking to me. I didn't know what to do. >> Cuz you were lying to her, too, to try to get the check pass. >> Lying to her, but I wasn't lying. >> I really don't know. I really don't know who they were. >> Well, you knew what you're doing was wrong. That's why you lied in there. That's why when as soon as you saw me, you said, "Am I in trouble?" And you know, you knew exactly what you're doing. Okay? You're looking at a couple felonies today. [laughter] You cannot forge and steal money from people bank accounts. >> She was found guilty of fraud related offenses and faced serious criminal charges, including uttering a forged instrument and attempted bank fraud. Any financial fraud, no matter how it is concealed through words or feigned innocence, will eventually be uncovered when sufficient evidence is present. Trying to avoid responsibility by changing statements only makes the situation worse and leads to severe legal consequences.
