[ __ ] safe. >> I don't have nothing. I just paid for everything. I just paid for everything. You want Yes. >> Oh my god. I have my dogs at the house inside. I can't. >> Is there somebody going to go with me? Cuz you're going to be placed under arrest for it's a felony. I explained that to you a minute ago. >> Oh my god. No. Please. >> No. I mean, they don't they don't have any. >> For sure. There's four sensors defeated. So, there's definitely four items. >> Surprise after surprise unfolded as these thieves believe they could simply walk away after stealing. But the moment police stepped in, they were left disappointed, realizing their crimes would come at a cost. These are the moments when woman thinks no one noticed her Walmart theft. We are This is Law. Don't forget to like and subscribe. Starting with a woman who disregarded the law. >> It's It's too late for that. It's Yeah, it's already too late. You've already walked out. >> What? Oh my god. You don't think they're going to let me out? I can't. On the 20th of February 2026, police were dispatched to Walmart's loss prevention office after receiving a report of a woman detained for suspected theft. Upon arrival, multiple suspicious details about the merchandise were pointed out. >> Good afternoon. >> We haven't gotten everything just [music] yet. Oh, >> but if you look like just on those boots alone, those boots are $56, but it's got a tag on it for Okay. >> And I'm just going by the tags are on it. Okay. >> 366 cheese. >> How much should? Yep. There's one. Have you been arrested for any kind of retail theft or anything in the past? >> Okay. >> And was going with what was on it. >> I had a girl at the at the register. >> Monroe County, Florida. Theft and forgery. >> That was 10 years ago. >> Okay. These are these are for life though. >> So once you >> over 10 years ago >> Yeah. But once you have one for for the rest of your life if you get one that makes it automatically a felony. If you take a stick of gum it becomes a felony. Oh yeah. >> But see the thing is is that purchase what I thought the tax were. >> So do I get reimbured for whatever? >> She did not understand the seriousness of her situation. More notably, despite switching price tags, the woman still intended to deny it and shift the blame onto the store. >> Well, we're waiting for her to come back with the training receipt so that he knows how much the amount was that wasn't paid for. >> Okay. So, do I get a difference for what was scanned? >> I mean, we'll tell you whenever. Yeah, we'll tell you >> what y'all owe me for what was scanned because everything was scanned. >> So, there was a price paid. So, how many items had these tickets, these stickers on them? >> Quite a few of them. >> Like I I don't know what the prices were for each one, >> right? >> Normally, we wouldn't differentiate the difference. That's okay. >> We would just I mean, cuz you >> I'm just going with what was on the items. So, I don't know. >> And usually whenever tags are wrapped around things like that, we don't think that the checkout was honest like it was supposed to be. We get a lot of people taking tags and sticking them to things. I understand >> comp a little bit more complex. >> I mean, if I get the difference, I don't know what the difference adds up to, but if not, it's okay, too. >> To see what he wants to do, the guy that just like is the boss, >> it doesn't I'm okay with it either. >> Normally, we don't uh make up the difference. >> Normally not. She only questioned who would cover the tax difference, clearly showing she had no intention of taking responsibility. At that moment, the employee returned with the total value of the loss she had caused. >> So, $198 is going to total up to be off of it. That's what the the theft and also the uh stuff that wasn't. And then this is what she actually scanned and paid for was >> 31. So, 160 bucks. >> Yeah. At least still 160 bucks. >> Okay. All right. Do I get a difference for it or >> It's 31. No, it's actually $31 is is is all that you paid for, but it was 200 after taxes is 215, but we don't do taxes usually on that. So, it was $198 of merchandise that was either stolen or ticket switched. So, it was a different price. >> Wow. >> Wow. Well, I'll be going through a live person from that one. I'm not doing self check out anymore. Crazy. Even though I had a little bit of help, you know, with her with the big items. >> Yeah. You have somebody's going to be able to come and get your uh stuff. >> What? Me? >> Yeah. >> Come get my Come get this stuff. >> Yeah. To come and get your stuff. >> I'm I'm outside. I'm parked outside. >> I know, but you're going to go with me. >> In reality, she still believed that she could simply pay the difference and walk away. But the police revealed an outcome she did not expect. Take a look at her reaction. You're going to be placed under arrest for it's a felony. I explained it to you a minute ago. >> Oh my god. No. Please. >> No. I mean, they don't they don't have any leeway on it. I mean, that's their policy. >> Yeah. >> No, I didn't. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I mean, that's No, please. >> That's quite a bit. >> Yeah. >> What? >> Yeah. The the Okay, so the dollar the dollar amount >> the difference. >> Yeah, but that we're way past that. The dollar amount part of it isn't the issue because if it was $300, it would be a felony in of itself. But I if you if you were to go in here and pick up a package of gum and walk out with it, that's a felony. >> Be happy to pay whatever all the amount is. >> We're way past that. I mean, that's >> How can we be past that? >> We're we're past that. >> I didn't like I was only bringing up what was >> Okay. If you had one item, >> if you had one item that maybe had a a funky tag on you, scan it as an oops. >> I will. >> How many we got all together? What's a list there? We got like >> uh there's at least 12 items that were actually and then about half of those were actually probably what four or five of them were actually just flat out stolen. >> It was just not even scanned. >> Yeah. Bypassing bypass the scanner. >> Yes, ma'am. [clears throat] >> I had so much stuff in my buggy. >> I can pay for everything and not keep it. >> Once you walked out that door, it's now a crime. Only at that moment did she realize how serious her actions had become. Yet, it was true that she had faced this situation before. She began pleading to be allowed to leave. >> So, it was not my intention. I swear it wasn't. >> You trespass me to trespass me. >> Well, we're we're actually not trespassing you because this is the only time that we've got you in our system. >> I know. I haven't done anything. But you know, as far as it's it's too late for that. It's Yeah, it's already too late. You've already walked out the door. You've already committed the crime. >> There's no way you could >> No. No. >> Oh, God. Really? What is going to happen? I mean, >> what's I'm sorry. What? >> I don't know what's going to happen. >> Okay. So, we will take you up to the sheriff's department. They will process you in. Uh you will have a uh detention hearing on Monday at which time they'll probably re release you on your own recgnissance >> on Monday. >> Uhhuh. >> The weekend of jail? >> Yes. Yes. Yeah. There's uh the court was today at 1:00. So we've already missed court for the day. >> Let me out on my own. >> They will Monday. I'm I'm almost sure of it because you only have one prior conviction. >> What? [laughter] Oh my god. You don't think they're going to let me out? I can't. >> They will Monday. They'll let you on. No, there's there is Illinois doesn't have any bond anymore. It's a uh Yeah, it's a bail free state. >> Let me out on my own. >> No, they will money. They >> from believing she could simply pay and leave to begging for a trespass just to be released. The woman had completely disregarded the law. The police then escorted her outside. >> Yeah, we're going to turn it over to him. >> You're turning it over to him? >> No, we're going to turn your your cart and your your purse and your change. >> I know you didn't. >> Sean, I hear Shauna. phone. >> I'm on the phone with you. Take my phone. >> All right, we need to move on. I got you right out here waiting. So, >> there's nobody to talk to to vouch for you. I mean, if >> Yeah, the the judge doesn't come in until Monday. >> Okay, >> let's go. We got We got to get going. >> Okay. >> Yep. Your purse is in there and all the stuff. He's going to they're going to release it to him right now. No judges until Monday or go back here to the white car. >> Oh my god. And nobody can like vouch for me. >> Well, they can Monday. I mean, if they if they attempt to detain you, but I don't think they're going to >> I have medicine that I have to take. >> Oh my god. Really? I have medicine that I have to take. >> Okay. Well, he can bring it up there if you like. Come on. >> I can't see without my reading glasses. >> Okay. Well, he can he can bring those to you. So, >> I don't have my phone. >> Okay. He can bring all this stuff to you. >> In the end, the woman was charged with felony retail theft. Small, dishonest actions can escalate into serious consequences, especially when repeated mistakes turn minor offenses into major crimes. Next, [music] the woman had so many alleged offenses that she could not even remember all of them. >> I just paid for everything. I just paid for everything. >> Please don't pull. Please don't pull. So, I'm going to jail. >> You're going to jail tonight? Yes. >> Oh my god. I have my dogs at the house. >> On the 8th of September, 2025, [music] police stopped a woman due to her involvement in a theft that had occurred. When approached, she denied it and attempted to evade in a suspicious manner. >> Let me talk to you real quick. >> Talking around. >> I don't have nothing. I just paid for everything. I just paid for everything. >> Turn around. Please don't pull. Please don't pull. >> Yeah. Do you have to carry box? Let that go. >> Yeah. I have nothing yet. I think >> we'll figure it out. Okay. >> Huh? >> That's about previous time stamp. It's not about >> No, no, no. >> No. I'm sorry. I haven't been taking >> Okay. You're just sitting right now. >> I paid for everything that I got. >> Okay. They say you just determined now you're not under arrest and it's just for suspicion of possible shoplifting. Okay. >> Okay. Can you walk that way, please? You have any weapons on you? Oh, got it. >> I don't have my weapons. >> Okay. >> Shortly after successfully detaining the suspect, an officer arrived at the loss prevention office. It appeared that the security staff there had not been seeing her for the first time. >> Has several cases here that have been filed. >> This is a long time ago. >> So, I'm pretty sure she has an active warrant for one of them at least in any court. >> Nope, I don't. And if not, at the very least, you want to get that formal trespass, but we can take care of those warrants and be >> I don't have no warrants. I just went to court for everything. >> You did go to court? >> Yes, I did. >> I have it in my car. >> Okay. I said, you know, you just detained possible suspicion of shoplifting. >> Do you need it? >> Um, >> I brought my stuff in when I bought from other stores to come and match your stuff in here. So, if they see me putting anything in their bags, it's my stuff that I have bought >> from other stores, you said? >> Yes. And I have the receipts for them for this reason. >> Okay, no worries. >> And I come here a lot. Now, in the past, I might have taken stuff because I was doing it for the fact that I had to live. >> So, co really [ __ ] me up cuz I was working at the time. >> Gotcha. >> I mean, I give everybody my my name and everything when I put things on hold and everything. >> Yeah. >> Why would I do anything like that? >> Um, so like I said, the last case would have been August 15th, which we filed on. Um, can't remember the officer's name. August 15th, July 1st. We have a bunch. Um, as well as the El Paso stores, Bassid West side. >> Okay. But as far as to date, you guys have any consumeral trespassing and then if she does have warrants, obviously that's for you guys. >> Before any background checks were fully presented, the woman still refused to back down, insisting that she had evidence proving her innocence. >> I was under the impression that you were taking some stuff today. >> Uh, that's not the case. That's why you're detained, and I apologize for that. I still got a job to do, right? So, for today, he's advising you're not allowed to go back to the store. Um, you're going to be formally trespass today. So, don't come back to I believe this is this store and then the other Marshall. If you come back, they have you on video. Um, I you could be subject to arrest at that point if they do want to pursue charges. Okay. >> I do understand. I do know. >> Um, I'm sorry. >> I do have the paperwork for my ones that I did have in my car. >> They did tell me to hold them for a month in my car. So, I just took care of them last week. >> Okay. >> This is that's from the mini court set. >> Okay. Um, >> let's reference our case. That's the reason why you guys don't want her in the hospital. >> Yes. So what? >> For previous I guess incidents. I'm not >> I've never been caught here or anything. I've never been told anything but I can't come here or nothing. This is the very first time. >> Well, just so you know, there are cameras. It doesn't mean you weren't caught on those cameras before and somebody recognized you. Okay. >> And I do understand. >> Uh if they were dropped the case, I don't know. That's not the reason why I'm here. I'm just let he's just letting me know that there has been previous incidents where they've been >> okay. I don't know where >> am I going to lie sitting here in line that I haven't I had before now I'm going to school and I'm trying to do right. So >> and I don't know when I don't know what happened but >> now I don't know when cuz they never advised me. >> At this point police also confirmed that she had an outstanding arrest warrant and as soon as it was mentioned she was visibly shocked. >> Hey so you do have a warrant for shoplifting out of Unicorn. Um I don't know from where. I don't know from when >> I took care of that though. >> You took care of that? >> Yes, I did. >> When? >> Last week. >> Last week. Okay. >> Yeah. So, I don't know who put it out. I don't know when it took place, but they do have one. I have to warrant for you. Okay. >> Okay. >> I'm going to serve that warrant today. >> But I have my paperwork in the car. >> Well, like I said, I don't know. I'll look at the paperwork and I'll show it to you if you want me. >> So, I'm going to jail. >> You're going to jail today? Yes. >> Oh my god. I have my dogs at the house inside. I can't. Is there somebody we can call? >> Um, my phone's not working. Can I use your phone? >> We could call someone for you. >> Have a bell or anything? Cuz I didn't a bail or anything. >> So, you'll probably see it just tomorrow >> early in the morning and then you'll be out tomorrow. >> I didn't I paperwork. >> Australia paperwork. I'm sorry. >> Oh my goodness. I have my paperwork in the car and they tell me keep keep that in your car for 30 days. If your magistrate me >> might be I mean might be another case. I don't know how many cases you had active. >> How is that? if I didn't ever get caught or anything and they didn't tell me anything. >> So, we want to just mark it from the source side so you know. Okay. The case that I'm referencing is from August 15th while 119. >> But I didn't know I had though. So, that's not right. That's against the law right there. >> No, but that's not right because I still have a license. That's right. Now, >> so as far as today, um like I said, there's no charges. They wanted you trespass when I pulled up. You were still on the property. you. So, you were walking out of the property. >> I was already off the property. >> You were walking off the property. You were right in front of the door. >> I was looking for >> She said she was unaware of the existence of the arrest warrant, but she did not deny the theft linked to it. She showed no sense of remorse. And even while sitting in the patrol car, her please continued. >> Can I get some numbers out of there, please? >> Yeah. Can I reach into your bag so I can get it? >> Of course. I'm not trying to be mean or nothing, you guys. I just >> I have to go to school and I have to go to work today and I just got my job. >> I can't miss my job, dude. Like I promise I'll go to court in the morning. This is awful. Like how can that should be against the law, dude? >> What What should we do? >> They should be serving me a warrant >> when I when they feel like it. Like >> so it's I don't know what happened, but if they have probable cause to believe that you committed a crime >> and I understand that. I do understand that. But I should be a war of like a warning. Like last time we Walmart when I went to Walmart, they sent me the warrant. So I went to go and I took care of it and then they it was off. you I'll show you what the other people say on it. >> I'm sorry. >> I have a clearance on it though for they dropped the warrant. >> Like I said, I don't know what other other information is. >> Other warrant is increasing the >> Yeah, it's not it's not a fail to appear or anything like that. It's a warrant like a recent warrant >> for traffic or what? >> For so you don't have to tell me anything, but if you can backtrack and think maybe this happened on this day recently. I haven't treated anything. Like I said, I did bring a a bag in from um Ross and I was matching a clothes and that's what happened. I saw me putting the clothes that I bought in them, but I never took anything. >> Here you go, man. >> Yeah, I understood that she was concealing her, but she was not. >> She was not. I didn't I didn't have anything. Um the last word I always got like for these people like from Tristan Smith, they have a warrant called dispatch. And so with her, she stole from us. It just so happens I'm about 99% sure that warrant is from us. >> Okay. Yeah. When did this incident happen? >> This happened August 15th. >> She was ultimately taken into custody and formally charged in connection with retail theft. Past legal issues, if not clearly resolved, could have returned and caused serious consequences even when the person involved did not think they were at fault. More surprisingly, these shoplifterss were even university students majoring in social work. >> For ISU besides students, like what are you guys studying? >> Oh, social work. >> Say what? >> Social work. >> Second event at the store. Um, I don't know if it was reported to you guys. This was like 2 years ago. >> Oh yeah. >> On August 21st, 2025, officers responded to a Walmart after the store reported two teens, one male and one female, who had concealed merchandise and deliberately skipped payment at the selfch checkckout, but they were quickly stopped by loss prevention staff. This was what happened when police arrived at the scene. >> So, excuse me. So switch the theft and stuff without paying for it. Um this is the power here. That's not paid for. How much was it? >> Still trying to get that. So >> um that was paid for and then as well as her ID. >> I didn't get a true ID from I got a school. >> Okay. >> But number one, do you understand each of these rights I have explained to both of you? Okay. And number two, having these rights in mind, you wish to speak to me now. Okay, you guys said yes. Okay, with that being said, got to figure out what happened, why I'm called out here. Okay, they have video. Obviously, this is nothing new. Is this your guys' first time offense doing this? Okay, I'm going to check with my dispatch. As long as it is, you guys get out here on just a little basic civil ticket, okay? It's kind of slap on the wrist. Just let you know if it happens again, becomes a felony, regardless of how much it is. Okay, so your second offense if you guys get arrested for becomes a felony. Okay. So, if it's $5 and $5, you go to jail. >> The officers explained to the suspects how the situation would be handled, but it seemed their suspicions were correct as this was not the first time the wrongdoing had been committed. >> Second event at the store. I don't know if it was reported to you guys. This was like 2 years ago. >> Oh, yeah. This happened when I first came out to ISU. My sister, her boyfriend was at or whatever and she didn't pay for I think two ISU shirts. So, her boy stopped us. But he made all of us. Sure. Okay. Yeah. With that being said, you still have a court date and you still have to go in front of a judge. Uh if you don't go, a warrant will be issued. Okay. You said both of them are scanning items. >> Um yeah, both of them were putting yourself in bags without scanning them. >> Okay. All right. Um the ticket for both of you guys each will be 275 each. Okay. >> If you don't if you don't pay, >> if you don't pay, a warrant will be issued. Yep. >> If you got a little >> So if you don't pay Yep. Yep. You can find it in court and contest it. Uh, everybody has a right to do that. You have a right to retain counsel. Um, but if you determine not to, that's on you guys. Uh, but just don't forget to pay it because these this gets translated ISU. Okay. Uh, >> what is it supposed to be doing? >> I'll see you again at one of them parties. I'll write you a ticket again. >> Wait, what? >> Yeah, cuz those big parties whenever the security says shut it down. >> Oh, I don't parties. >> Uhhuh. That's what everybody says. And I don't run into you guys again. I I I've literally >> You'll never saw me out there. >> All right. I promise. >> I'm just letting you know it's >> I already know how to lodge it up. >> Uh-huh. Report in the meantime. Yeah. Like I said, I had to read you guys Mir Miranda cuz you guys are custom basically you guys aren't free to leave. >> It became clear they grew frustrated when they realized they could not leave. Further showing a lack of remorse and they were even college students which led officers to warn them that their actions could impact their academic future. Uh with that being said, if you guys continue having interactions with us, Bloomington County, anywhere else in the state, that gets reported to ISU and then they can revoke your scholarships, tuition, stuff like that. Okay? So, just let you guys students make sure you guys make the right decisions. Okay? What do you guys do for ISU besides students? Like what are you guys studying? >> Oh, social work. >> Say what? >> Social worker. >> What about you? >> Marketing. It's just past 150. But for the both of them, so I got to figure out. So the the problem is I have to write both OB's. Okay. The problem is they got me entire total, but they were both scanning different items. So I'm going to need Walmart to get me two receipts for the total for each of the people. >> Yeah. So >> So you got right an OV for the 150. >> Yeah. Well, no, cuz the total is 160, but they both were skinny different items. >> Y So >> Yeah. So they be 100. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> You need me to do anything? Uh yeah, he'll probably have to have your leave it cracked. If you can leave it cracked. So this is great. The problem is since they both were scanning, I'll need like a receipt for each one of them cuz I'm running them each separate OBS. >> Oh, I see what you're saying. >> Yeah, because they're both going to be under 150 cuz the total is 168. >> And if they're both scanning items, then they can't be over 150. >> Okay. >> So you need you need two of those. >> Yeah. Well, no, not two. I need the receipt for each >> Oh, I know each >> Yeah. Yeah, which each one did. >> Immediately after handling everything, the officers explained their course of action to the suspects. >> At a later date, they'll get with me. Um, but you guys are just going to get the OVs, ordinance violations. It's a basically a slap on the wrist. Okay. If you as long as you pay, it gets dropped off of the record. Now, that being said, you guys are Huh? >> You said we had to pay the license. >> Nope. It's 275 each. Okay. Uh, so it'll be 275 each. Um, yeah. Was there any particular reason? >> I'm not going to lie, we're in college. I just wanted some smell good and I just only had link. I'm going be honest. >> All right, Gy. Like I said, these are basically a civil ticket, slap on the wrist. Uh if it happens again, like I said, you get arrested. Okay. Um just keep that in mind. Um you guys have any questions for me get to get that taken care of? On the back side of that tells you how to get get it take care of paid. You can go to the the uptown >> the secretary. >> Yep. It tells you on the back side you go to Uptown uh the uh 11 Uptown Circle pay for it or you can go to uh you go online and pay for it. >> Okay. Um so there's going to be stuff like they left at the bottom of the cart and neither one of them really touched. So what kind of um what do you want me to do about that? >> Stuff in the bottom of the cart. Uh >> neither of them just they just left there. just fit kind of put >> and walked out and >> there's stuff that was lightly put in the bags and there was stuff that was just left. >> If stuff was left behind, I wouldn't I mean, what do you mean like left in the cart? Like they just didn't touch it or scan it? >> Yeah, they scan >> like the pop. It wasn't like a blade like this person did. >> In the end, both suspects were formally charged with retail theft, issued citations, fined $275 each, banned from all Walmart properties, and required to appear in court. Mistakes may seem small in the moment, but repeated dishonesty can quickly escalate into serious consequences that impact both your future and your reputation. Next, the woman was unable to even provide answers for herself. >> I didn't get my mail. >> Well, is this your mail? >> Yes. >> It's got your name on it, though. >> Like I'm telling the truth. >> What is it? What is this? >> On the 3rd of May 2023, officers were on routine patrol when they encountered a woman walking dangerously in the middle of the road. forcing them to stop and intervene. And upon approach, she displayed unusual behavior through her demeanor. >> I'm just trying to get home. >> Well, come back over here now. >> Am I under arrest? >> Oh, you are being detained. >> I'm going to jail. >> No, no, no. You're being detained, though. >> What is that? >> Detained means you're not free to go. I got to figure out why you're walking the road. Can Can I see this? What's this? >> My stuff. >> Okay. What stuff is it? My birthday coming up, but I'm getting these fats got some pull apart stuff. >> Okay. Hey, you been doing drugs today? >> No, sir. >> You ain't been doing no drugs today? What? Uh, what you got in here? You got some jewelry? You got some titles? These your titles? What are these titles from? >> TC don't say stuff about them. But I went to my mail. Went to my mailbox. >> What's this about? I guess I had to park right next to a dead animal, didn't I? So, so this is for pull apart. >> Is this your mail? Where'd you get it from? The mail. >> Where'd you get the mail from? >> The woman struggled to explain the origin of the items officers found, raising suspicion that she had stolen them, which immediately prompted the officers to begin investigating her information. Doesn't >> mean you're going to jail. Means I'm about to ask you a bunch of questions. Okay. What's your name? First of all, >> Saka Ross. >> Sakaya Ross. >> Yes, sir. >> How do you spell that? >> S K Y A. >> Give me a V. Can you take this thing off your neck? It looks like you're trying to straggle yourself or something. How old are you? >> 20? I'll be 21 in July. >> Where do you live? >> I was going home. >> Home where? >> Like Well, I know family and friends that see somebody take me in. >> What you got in your pocket right there? You got some candy. You got a lug. You got a lug nut. >> I got a ride to um >> You can put that back in your pocket. You got a ride to what? >> Um you know, >> go ahead. I'm listening. >> It's two different ones. >> I'mma put this back in here. Okay. >> Okay. I didn't hear my mail. >> Well, is this your mail? Yes. >> It's got your name on it, though. >> I need to give it to Rostown High School. >> To what? >> Rose High School. >> What you got in your other pocket? >> Oh, that's same stuff. >> Yeah. >> That's weird. Okay. All right. Okay. Come on. Yeah. I give you a ride somewhere. Okay. >> Huh? >> I'm going to give you a ride. No. Leave that there. I'm going to take that. Come on. We're going to give you a ride somewhere. >> I just did my job. Look. >> No. Come on. I'm going to give you a ride somewhere. >> Okay. >> Okay. I got to figure out who you are. Have a seat for me. Okay, >> put your legs in for me. Okay, >> 113 114. >> Although the woman said nothing about the origin of the mail and documents she carried, what the officers found next was able to answer that question. >> Um, is this yours? Is this trash? >> That's mine. >> It's yours. It's not trash. >> I feel like I'm telling the truth. >> What is it? What is this? >> Not nothing, but I was trying to >> What is it? Do I need to keep it or kind of throw it away? >> Keep it. You want me to keep it? >> Yeah, keep it and put it in the envelope. >> In the envelope. Okay, that's nice. I'm going to keep her [ __ ] and put it in the envelope. I guess it's uh you know. >> She wants to have something. And that's definitely something. >> It's definitely It's something. It's something. It's something. You got something? Yeah, it's something. I got a piece of plastic. That's mine. My plastic. Jesus Christ. >> During an internal discussion, the officers also confirmed that they already had some prior information about those documents, which further reinforced the suspicion that she had stolen them. >> And now she wants to talk to me, and she admitted to picking them up. She said she got them from the ground in front of the mailbox. Uh, Major Captain Corporal General Redmond said, I don't know what his rank is now. He said that he saw that in envelope before y'all left last night. >> Yeah. >> Why would you leave that stuff in the mailbox overnight? >> Somebody didn't check it. >> Well, Scott Redmond checked it. >> Yeah. >> You could tell him that he shouldn't leave your mail in the mailbox. What do you pay him for? >> Exactly. We pay 80 bucks a night. Yeah. >> That's it. Yeah. >> Well, no, he's only there an hour and a half. Yeah, but it's threeh hour minimum. >> I know. But it's 80 bucks. >> He's so nice. You're so nice. All right, so you got any questions? Let me give you a card in case I'm on it. >> I think I got one, but you >> In the end, the woman was charged with offenses related to theft. Ignoring the law and taking what isn't yours can quickly escalate into serious criminal charges, especially when evidence and your own words are enough to prove it. Worse still, the next suspects even treated their wrongdoing as a joke. >> I know that there's cameras. That's why I'm telling you I would never dispute y'all. Even with digs, I was telling you straight up. >> So I did take Marcus. >> I took from you. >> On February 24th, 2025, officers were dispatched to a Dick Sporting Goods store after receiving a report of a retail theft incident. At that moment, an employee also provided several statements describing the suspects. >> Can you tell me what that looks like? They're a guy in green hoodie, green pants, and then the lady is I forget what she's >> She's got a tattoo right here on a tattoo of feather on his eye. >> Okay. And why were they white, black, Hispanic? >> Black. Both of them. >> Yep. >> Okay. Sweet. Um what? Okay, I'll let them know. >> I have her first name cuz she called the store. [clears throat] >> Yeah, the first name for me. >> Okay. Um what did they take? Um, there's Nike Pros for sure. Like >> they have it. She put it in her bag. They went in our fitting room and pulled the sensors off. We have the sensors that are detached. >> Um, can I get you guys? >> I got the bro at the store. >> Can I get you guys? >> Yeah, of course. I'll be right back. >> Came back within 30 minutes. >> Okay. Just to ride that out. >> And then this time he knew we knew him cuz we WERE LITERALLY LIKE, "OH, SAME GUY." LIKE BEING like loud about it. So he went and bought one of the pairs of pants this time and then >> they left the first time with like stuff. >> He left with stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Cuz time [clears throat] >> just the first time. The second time he bought something. >> Okay. So he came in the store, grabbed stuff, left without a pen, then came back in and bought like a pair of pants and then left. >> Yes. >> Yeah. So just write like about You can write everything. >> A hard thing to do. >> We roughly. So based on what they were touching and stuff like that is pretty much what we don't see here that they took pretty much like the tank the tank top that she took >> pretty much >> for sure. There's four sensors defeated. So there's definitely four items. >> About an hour later the suspects were apprehended and the male suspect appeared to act innocent beginning to create difficulties with his feigned confusion. >> I just need to talk to you and before I can talk to you I need to read you these questions. Okay. >> Hold on. But I I from what I know when you get your rights in that means that you read >> and before I answer anyone questions I like to it's just part of my policy. I have to read your rights before I can talk to you. >> Okay. >> I mean but I want to know why >> if I can interject real quick. Yeah. >> How you doing? I'm detective mam. >> How you doing? >> Um it's not like movies. All right. >> Your rights has to do with the fact that you are detained in handcuffs right now. You're sitting in the back of a police car. Obviously you're not free to go. >> Okay. and we want to ask you questions about the incident. Okay? Therefore, we have to read you a right to >> detain mean free to go. >> Well, no, cuz we're still conducting an investigation. The time doesn't mean you're free to go and it does not mean you are going to jail. Okay? It just means while we're conducting investigation, you're not free to go. >> Okay. So, >> so I can conduct my investigation, I need you to read your rights so I can ask you my questions. >> Okay. >> All right. Ed. >> Yep. >> Okay. So, we went in. We went in one time. I was actually looking for a Nike attack. >> Nike attack? >> Yeah. I was going to do Baby Blue, but they didn't have the top. They just had >> The man admitted he was present at the store, but denied any involvement in the crime. His story even began to drift, becoming increasingly irrelevant and unfocused. >> Uh-uh. So, I put it back in and I was like, "That's just But I looked at another Nike sweatshirt." So, I was like, "You know, we can go down here where she was going." Uh, >> did you buy anything from this one? >> Yeah. I I went I I I literally went back in and brought a a like a sky blue Nike jogging suit. I went with a jogging suit instead of the tech. >> So, I brought the hoodie and a sweatpant. >> So, you bought the the blue combo? >> Yeah. Okay. Okay. >> I went in there and brought in sweatpants. >> So, this is what I saw, you know, from video. You went inside the store one time, >> looked around the store, grabbed some property, >> right? >> Left it behind, >> went into the hidden room, then came out, then left the store. Then you come back again and you buy some uh dark clothing. It wasn't blue. >> It was blue. >> It wasn't blue. The one you bought wasn't blue. >> I I swear to you, the receipt was in the bag. Everything was in the bag. It is light blue with a white Nike check. it. I seen him put it in the back of the car. It's in the dick's bag. I never stole anything. It was >> So, what about the the other store you guys went into today? >> What other store? >> Neon. >> Ne Marcus. >> Nean Marcus. >> We didn't go in Neiman's today. We was actually headed into Neman's to take back that purple shirt that I had because I wanted to do Casablanca with my uh purple jeans. And then we was going to take back um >> some one one baby clothes thing cuz she had the wrong bottom to the top. The top was a two and the bottom was a four. So that's why we were coming here. >> It was clear he deliberately avoided the issue the police suspected, even immediately denying it when officers confronted him directly. >> Moved all the security devices from the clothing and put them in one of the items in the room and then left. >> But what clothing? >> H >> what clothing? >> You told me you guys were in the store. >> We didn't leave out with any anything at that time we left. >> You're telling me you paid for everything you left? Oh, I went back in when we left the first time. We didn't grab anything. We didn't pay for anything or anything. >> You didn't pay for anything. >> We didn't have anything. Okay. >> To pay for it. We didn't have nothing on us. We didn't take anything. Like I said, the beeper was >> Why would you remove the beepers? >> We didn't. >> There was more than one. And they only found the beepers. Removed a bunch of them after you guys left the fitting room. And they were in the fitting room that you guys went in. >> They were in the fitting room. >> Yep. On the other side, the female suspect had also been detained. Within her story, an admission had already taken place. Yet, she showed no sense of guilt whatsoever. >> Okay. >> Mr. Wilson. >> He is. >> What stores did you go to the mall yesterday? >> Lululemon, Pink, Bath and Body Works. I think a host of [ __ ] >> Okay. >> Yeah. Um, did you guys go to the email market? >> We went in there and I purchased my stuff. Yes, that's it. I purchased it. That's why I'm saying how do I have a felony? I actually paid for my stuff. I didn't go in the dressing room. I went to go look for other stuff to shop for. I was going to originally buy a Casablanca shirt. >> Okay. And >> that was a cameras. >> I know that there's cameras. >> I know that there's cameras. >> Okay. And in the cameras, you guys are concealing items that you didn't pay for >> in the Nean Marcus where I purchased the shirts from. >> Yes. >> I ain't The only thing that he did was take his clothes. He went get a I'm going to tell you exactly what happened. We went in I went in a few sections. I picked up a Casablanca shirt. I took that to the cash register. I took a purple shirt to the cash register. I paid for that. He went in the dressing room to try on his stuff to see if it fit it. And then he ended up coming back out and that's when we went wherever we was going at. So we separated for some time. I didn't have any bags. I didn't have I didn't have for real. I know that there's cameras. That's why I'm telling you I would never dispute y'all even with digs. I'm telling you straight up if I took I'm completely honest. I know I have them. I'm a human and I'm not perfect. But I was telling y'all if y'all looked at the cameras and you look at the cameras, you'll see me on the camera the whole entire time. I never knew. I did not put in no bag. I didn't have >> So again, based on what we see in video, >> okay, >> and based on what you're telling me. >> Okay. >> Right. >> She gave blunt statements without any shame. Although she knew the wrongdoing had occurred, she still denied her responsibility in the incident. >> You see the camera, you know I didn't say nothing. Be for real with me. Be for real. You know I didn't take [ __ ] You know I didn't go in the dressing room. You know I didn't put [ __ ] to bed. No idea. >> And I just want you to know that you and him are working together. Okay? So, generally saying me or him or whatever, it's you are a team when you're going into these places. And you know, >> listen, I ain't taking [ __ ] off. I ain't touching [ __ ] Anything that in the bag, if I ain't paid for, I don't know [ __ ] about. You see the cameras. You know exactly what happened. you know what happened >> because y'all know that we going to be >> it's not possible to have three different places involved saying you guys are stealing to show his videos >> and then the fact that you are telling me that I mean he's got different stories so that's all right man last time I talked to man we're done after that okay um so I just talked to her and she kind of like told me about these pants and the kids clothing um from Demon Marcus so again videos there um do you know how She I just want to see if you're honest. I mean, I see if maybe we change up. I can say something nice about you in this report. If not, it's no big deal. But do you know how she end up with this piece? Do you know how she end up with this clothes? I said she bought one item just like she did. I guess she told us she bought one item at the store, but how does she end up with all these items from Nean Marcus? It's on video how she end up with it. Um, and you know, now with videos, she's pretty open about what happened. >> How am I writing this about you? Is it that you knew or you all right? So, >> I did take another Marcus. >> In the end, both suspects were charged with felony retail theft and possession of an anti- theft device as the evidence ultimately exposed their entire scheme. Lesson learned. Persistently denying responsibility despite clear evidence only worsens the situation and reduces any chance of mitigating legal consequences. Next, the man had ultimately trapped himself in his own fraudulent scheme. When >> I came in the door, you was trying to leave. So, do you have an account here at this bank? He >> has been trying to get access to the phones >> over the phone. He's been trying to call and do ACA. >> On June 8th, 2023, police received a report from a bank about an ongoing fraud. Yes, sir. >> His own claim of not having a bank account there became a self-inccriminating admission. Back inside the bank, officers uncovered even more shocking details about the case. >> So, what's going on? Well, this young man out there in your possession that you arrested, he stole the social security number of a T out of El Grove, California. Um, and then he also overtook his accounts with a merit trade and had a check sent to him. This is the real T had the check sent to an address in Hinesville, Georgia. The real T does not live there and he deposited this check here at regions and that ID the other day in the state of Florida they said that number did not exist. >> I was going to run it. Worse, the suspects believe they didn't deserve arrest despite their obvious wrongdoing. >> I'm going to put you in handcuffs. Go get your man, baby. God damn. So, >> I got to go. >> If they confirm it, then yeah. But, >> man, this >> I'm sorry. >> I'm sorry. >> On both suspects faces, there was no sign of remorse. partly because the woman had her own justification for her actions.
