from time to time you may find yourself in this situation the San Antonio Police Department wants you to feel safe and secure in the event of a traffic stop when an officer pulls in behind you with their lights activated it's okay to pull over in the first well-lit or populated area you can find if the area you are in is not well that there are several steps you can take reduce your speed activate your hazard lights then acknowledge the officer with a hand signal to show that you know they are behind you finally pull into the next available well-lit or populated area never step out of your car unless you're sure the person you're talking with is a real police officer the SI PD is here to protect and serve and we hope that these few simple steps can help us all work together to increase safety on our roads
