On January 20th, 2025, a bulletin went out for a stolen tractor trailer barreling down Interstate 95 in South Carolina. Deputies soon spotted the burgundy and tan Peterbuilt and discovered the driver had no interest in pulling over. >> That's what we'll get in the orange capital. >> So we're stop right here before the 115 south. He's about 1050. He's about to go up to Hamilton Road. He just 1050ed in the right side of the shoulder. He made it on the bypass road. Therefore, if you get on 301 at Hamilton, it's going to be getting up to Hamilton. The 1050 in the right hand grass made it up on the side road. On August 5th, 2020, a black BMW tore through the San Fernando Valley at tripledigit speeds, drawing the attention of the California Highway Patrol. The chase grew stranger when the driver and passenger even swapped seats mid-flight. Once again, keeping a close eye on that black BMW right there in the center of your screen running from the California Highway Patrol. a female driver behind the wheel with a male passenger in the uh passenger's seat as we've gotten off the five freeway well into uh LAPD's jurisdiction here. Uh we have uh lost sight of any police including California Highway Patrol and I don't see any LAPD in the area at this point for that matter either. You can see doing about the speed limit right around 40 miles per hour at times just in the last 5 10 minutes was doing well over 110 miles per hour on the five freeway. Uh LAPD. All right, LAPD still overhead. That car coming up on a dead end at Riverton Avenue and Magnolia just off of Magnolia. Putting it in reverse. male driver now speeding in reverse down Riverton towards Magnolia. LAPD again flying overhead doing really tight orbits around these two. And uh this is just this is really something. Don't see any pedestrians in the way here. But this is a very dangerous maneuver here. Going reverse now on Riverton. Backing into or Yeah, just doing a Yep. making the turn now. getting back onto Magnolia. Wild left turn pass pedestrians crossing the crosswalk now going the wrong way down Violent Avenue. That was a wild and unnecessary and unexpected turn there. Uh a left turn into oncoming lanes of traffic now going southbound in the northbound lanes on Vinland Avenue coming very close to pedestrians who were crossing the crosswalk. A frightening move there that has really uh just been a wild turn of events here as the driving just gets uh more chaotic. And now LAPD uh is going to try and get these two off the road. Once again, they've got a a helicopter circling this car, but they are now going to try and get units into the area here. The driving has just suddenly uh really gotten way too dangerous. They're going to have to get these two off of the road again. Crisscrossing through Burbank now making a left turn onto Camar. Oh, into parked cars. Overturned. BMW overturned the drivers. Oh boy. Oh boy. Okay, so this is coming to an end here after striking a couple of parked cars. The driver and passenger getting out of the car, appear to be uninjured, running through the neighborhood and now running through a set of apartments off of Camaro Street, running very, very fast through this neighborhood after a wild crash into parked cars. You can see the two of them are going to look for a hiding spot here. LAPD circling the area. Units getting into position here. It's going to be a few minutes, but it looks like they have gotten them uh looks like they are getting down on the ground, proned out here, perhaps by orders of that LAPD helicopter. No, there it is. Look at that. A ground unit able to get these two into custody. Wow. They were looking for a hiding spot and ran into this LAPD cruiser at the end of the alleyway between this apartment complex. >> The pursuit ended in North Hollywood when the BMW flipped after slamming into parked cars, sending both suspects running through an apartment complex. Head up. >> Show me your hand. >> Back up. Back up. >> Get in your car. Get in your car and pin him. Get in your car. Pin him. >> Back up. Back up. Mike, if he ran your car, You are coming back. The confrontation escalated when the man stepped out holding a knife and ignored repeated commands. Stay right there. Put the car in park. >> Whoa, whoa, whoa. Drop the knife now. Stay right there. >> Put the car in park. >> Whoa, whoa, whoa. Drop the knife now. >> Drop the knife. >> Drop the knife. >> Drop it. Drop the knife. Drop the knife. >> Drop the knife. >> Drop the knife. >> Close my door. >> Drop the knife. >> Drop it. Drop the knife. Drop theing knife. [screaming] >> Drop theing knife. >> Drop the >> The 36-year-old Roseville man was transported to a hospital in critical condition after officers discharged their weapons and investigators later cleared the officers of wrongdoing. Charges related to fleeing and eluding at high speed and reckless driving followed the dramatic arrest. On January 21st, 2024, icy Arkansas roads turned a shoplifting suspect's escape plan into a slippery gamble. Officers assisting Conway Police Department found themselves chasing a Toyota RAV 4 across narrow highways coated in snow. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. N. Bye. Stand by. Dang. oil. Oh. TV out. We don't have a way to get up there just yet. Just stand by. >> Once that truck moves up, I'll get in front of it. I'll do that. [snorts] He's already getting ready to move. Stand by. >> 312. How are you? >> If he's good, you can put him in my passenger seat. >> Daniel Bennett Jr. was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Dorchester County Detention Center. He faces charges including failure to stop for blue lights, second offense driving, under suspension, third offense, and reckless driving. One evening in the San Gabriel Valley, a driver blasting through red and yellow lights caught the attention of the California Highway Patrol. The refusal to stop sent officers racing across interstates at speeds well over 100 mph. >> Turned off. So now we have another crime here. Trying to evade um trying to hide yourself and turn the lights off and get off at Garfield. This looks like and collision with that driver and they were able to get off and lose the uh the lead officer in this pursuit with one headlight on might have knocked out one of the headlights. We'll see if one of the secondary officers was able to continue on. They have ditched the vehicle. It looks like it is rolling onto the shoulder now looking for someone on foot. >> Bailed out of the vehicle, dodging in between those trees. It's difficult to see because it's so dark out there right now, but it looked as though somebody dove out of that car and tried to duck into those trees in this neighborhood. >> Yeah, as we gain up on the camera here, we have the night sun from the overhead view. Um, but right in this area here, there were some trees. You can see a shadow moving among the lighted areas, but it is very dark in this area. We did not see where Yeah. And is this an officer who was pulled up or is this just a vehicle? >> Well, and there were at least two vehicles in close pursuit of this car as soon as it exited, though. It didn't appear as though those cruisers followed it. Okay, we've got a police chopper overhead now. This all began about a half hour ago in the Baldwin Park neighborhood uh when police say this car was going excessive speeds as soon as they began pursuing this vehicle. Police say the car was blowing through red and yellow lights, not stopping for officers. At one point, exceeded miles of or exceeded speeds rather of 120 mph. We've been told that that was a black Jeep Cherokee, but it's difficult to see with the lighting out there. >> I see some movement up by the house. If we can go back up to that house, you saw some movement up on the uh on the far porch. There's someone there. You see a shadow moving there. Right on the corner of the house. Now, the other house uh down at the corner, we saw someone outside right on the corner at where that lighted area is. We see the night sun there. Right there. So, there is someone on that porch. You can see a shadow moving right there. I don't know whether that's a resident checking something out or whether that has to do with the person who just bailed here. There was someone on this porch um likely just coming outside to see what's happening in your in your neighborhood. When you hear this commotion, we have the first responding vehicle right here. Two officers now pulling up. Uh we don't know what jurisdiction they are from. But finally getting here on the ground, it's a little difficult when resources are thin like this to try and lock down a perimeter to make sure this person can't escape. And you have all that time that has now spanned elapsed after this came to an end where this person could be blocks away by now. Yeah, we did see a law enforcement helicopter overhead. So perhaps the helicopter has eyes on this person. You can see officers getting out of the vehicle, flashlights on, running across the street, perhaps being guided by officers in that in that helicopter. >> Well, they're they're checking out the vehicle first >> in the area, but it's very dark. Yeah. In this area right now because the officer's flashlights are doing most of the work there. And you hope that the um airship overhead, the helicopter has a fleer system set up, that forward-looking infrared radar to be able to see some hot spots um if someone's hiding in a bush, if someone's up in a tree or hiding in in an alleyway. This is video of the the foot bail. You can see uh they looked like they might have dropped something in the middle of the road and it's tough to follow them right behind that bush. You see them hop a fence. So, slow-mo this down for you. The vehicle continues to roll. person looks like they fell down, dropped something, picked it up, and ran over into these trees and bushes, and it looks like um hopped a fence. So, on the left side of your screen, this is a live look. These officers on foot now training their attention on an alleyway or a driveway between two houses. I don't know. Uh we'll have to wait and see if they saw something, if they were told something. Maybe again the airship overhead might have that infrared radar to be able to see if there's a the the heat um sensor of a of a body that is outside of a home and hiding somewhere and that will make quick work of this. It's just a matter of whether they have that system in use. >> New Avenue. This started around 6:00 this evening. Just ended about what 15 minutes ago in this neighborhood in San Gabriel. And this driver pulling a dangerous pursuit to get away from pursuing officers. Turning off his headlights in the left-hand lane, veering across all lanes of traffic. And they have someone in custody on the ground right now. So they do have someone in custody. It looks like this is about to come to an end. A man in a tank top being checked for weapons on his person. And CHP officers, they're their work pays off. They've been combing this area for the better part of 10 15 minutes on foot. This driver was able to get off the freeway without a tail, turning off that those headlights, driving across all lanes of traffic. It was too dangerous of a maneuver for CHP officers to pull off. So, he got off the exit, got out of his car once he had pulled off, letting his vehicle roll into a nearby fence and has been hiding, but now the hiding is done. >> After abandoning the vehicle, and running into a dark neighborhood, the suspect was located and taken into custody following a perimeter search. Authorities confirmed no additional suspects were inside the vehicle, bringing the high-speed pursuit to a close. In Lee County, Florida, just after midnight, a trooper observed a silver Toyota Camry flying through red lights at astonishing speeds. The driver's decision to keep accelerating turned a quiet patrol into a winding midnight chase. 48. >> All right. 1650. I'll take it. We're going to be on 82 eastbound. Eastbound 82 approaching Daniel. 15 50 70 right now. Approaching Daniel Westbound eastbound in the westbound lanes left northbound northbound. We are going down. confirming northbound. We are northbound. Conor southbound right now. >> Don'ting move. You got me shut. >> Anderson Alwin Pilgrim was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail after being cleared by emergency medical services. I just bought a [music] 1080 PE one right here at Riverside Correction 75 in uh Rocky Creek Road. Go ahead and get me a 1052 in route. >> Joseph Silas was removed from the overturned pickup by Min Bib Fire Rescue and transported to Atrium Health where he consented to a blood test. He was charged with driving under the influence along with additional traffic offenses and due to his injuries was released to hospital staff after receiving his citations.
