Hi, I'm Shannon. I'm a latent fingerprint examiner with the San Antonio Police Department. One of the unique things about this job is that you'd think it's the same thing over and over, but every latent job is different. The latents are different, the known prints are different, and the circumstances of them being left at the scene are different. One of the great things about this job is knowing that not all the time, but very often what we do in this office helps the detectives identify a suspect in a crime and helps to give closure to the victim or families For anyone who thinks they might be interested in a job working with latent fingerprints, a lot of colleges are offering training now in forensics and part of that training includes fingerprint examination, fingerprint identification of fingerprints.
