The driver of a red Kia, later identified as 32-year-old Joshua Ringle of Southbend, had a warrant for assault. When the trooper attempted to make the arrest, Ringle resisted and fought back, turning a simple stop into a violent confrontation. >> Hey, can you hop on out for me real quick? The driver ignored traffic laws, weaving through lanes at speeds exceeding 100 mph. When the trooper activated his lights and siren, the Jeep accelerated even faster, crossing Gore areas and nearly colliding with other vehicles. Deputies and a Forest Service ranger moved in, but the chase quickly pushed beyond local limits. The driver, later identified as 34year-old Justin Battenfield, showed no regard for the lives around him as traffic thinned and danger escalated. By the time Arkansas State Police joined the pursuit, the situation had already reached a breaking point. Yeah. Get over there. Get yourself here. Just call officers. He's down. >> When the dust settled, the rider identified as 23-year-old Jimmy Townsen suffered serious injuries and was transported for medical treatment before being booked into jail. He faces numerous charges, including felony fleeing, reckless driving, and failure to yield to emergency signals. The case underscored just how quickly a moment of defiance can spiral into disaster.
