I got to find my hat now. >> Brown was eventually secured inside a patrol car and his vehicle was towed. His repeated references to lawyers did not shorten the reported charge list, which included battery, resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated, and more. On August 1st, 2024, Clayton County Sheriff's deputies located a vehicle reported stolen. January 10th, 2019 authorities in the Van Nuys area were trying to stop a white business van reported stolen. The driver refused to pull over, leaving the vehicle's ownership questions unanswered. >> Uh from their dispatch center, and they probably already have units on the way over here. But, as you can see, LAPD again the lead agency in this pursuit, again doing speeds close to 90 mph right now. At one point southbound on the 405 was doing about 100. So, doing very excessive speeds. Unclear how many people may be inside this van. Obviously, we've got a driver in there, but whether there's anybody else in there, we have no clue at this point. >> And when you look at the speeds, this thing is not meant to do that. Here's the video on the right. This happened just a little just before we came on the air. He ran off the road. You see him hitting that one sign, then he hits the traffic light, knocks that over, takes that out, and then proceeds up and up over the curb and then off back onto the street again. This was in Van Nuys just about I don't know, about 30 seconds before we came on the air. Then he got on the freeway there and and may have sustained some damage to the van, but you you you've got to be mindful of the fact these things are not meant to go 100 miles an hour. It does not have the sort of suspension that can sustain any sort of shock. >> Hollywood. We're going to see a little bit more traffic up ahead here, but still lots of room to him for him to maneuver here and CHP is just about a minute out here. I've been a minute out here, so they will be eventually taking this pursuit over pretty shortly. >> Yeah, I believe there's a CHP headquarters right around Vermont Avenue and the 101 if I if memory serves, so he's heading right into their area where there's going to be a lot of reinforcements available for them, but certainly they're out on the roads anyway here. But yes, as we watch this thing it wobbles quite a bit. It's top heavy. You know, we used to our old our former news vans, not the ones we have now, but the ones that we used to have were were similar to this. And I remember how top heavy they are. You get that thing above 70 miles an hour and it's a little scary because it doesn't have real good steering in it. It's just not meant to do this. It's meant to carry stuff. And oh, we got trouble. >> Here we go, here we go, guys. Okay, hitting several vehicles. He's getting off at Hollywood Boulevard here. We're in the heart of Hollywood. Driving right into an SUV there. Lots of damage to several vehicles there and now making his way in the eastbound direction on Hollywood. So, obviously a very desperate individual behind the wheel. Really ramping things up here in the last few seconds, showing no signs for anybody there's no no regard for anybody's safety here, and very desperate to outrun the cops. Now, they are right behind him. They're going to try and keep up with him here, but at these speeds moving through Hollywood, it's going to be a very dangerous situation. They may have to put this in tracking mode, but they can't let him go too far because you see the damage he's already done there. We hope that nobody was hurt. Oh my goodness, another pedestrian almost taking a hit there. Fortunately, it looks like he just missed a pedestrian crossing the street, but we saw several vehicles already hit by this vehicle and heavy damage. Again, hopefully no injuries back at the Hollywood exit. That was the 101 at Hollywood Boulevard. Now, we're continuing eastbound through Los Feliz on Hollywood Boulevard. LAPD still overhead here. I cannot tell you quite how far back they could see. Every time he turns that wheel, he was losing control. And as he was making his way along the Walk of Fame here, it looks like he's going to come out the other end here. This is going to be looks like he's back onto Sunset Boulevard now, westbound on Sunset Boulevard, swerving through traffic. And I've got to tell you, I'm a bit almost another crash there. Again, right through these red lights. I I'm a little bit surprised, but very happy to see LAPD trying their very, very best to stay as closely behind him as possible. It's very difficult with these kinds of driving conditions. Fortunately, if there's any silver lining here, this time of the day would be the least populated time of the day in Hollywood, but certainly you could see even at 11:00 on a Wednesday night, lots of traffic over here and plenty of pedestrians still walking around. As you mentioned, Mark, ever so dangerous as we make our way down. Hits the curb there. Yep, and he's going to hit the curb again. He's in the median. Losing control of the vehicle. This is going to be it here. If he continues to accelerate, he's going to lose control of the vehicle into some more parked cars here. This person may very well be under the influence of something. I would not be surprised at all here. Passing the park side door. Yeah, passenger side door is just popped open. A passenger now making a run for it. I believe the driver is still going to be in the driver's side in the driver's seat. We still have to assume that the driver's in the driver's seat. LAPD's going to take down the passenger here and now we'll go ahead and pan back over to the van. This is the the van that has been trying to outrun police now for the better part of 20 minutes and I can't say whether that was the driver that crawled over to the passenger side or whether the driver is still in the driver's seat. That's my inclination, but as you can see, the pursuit ending here into a several parked vehicles after doing some damage to the vehicle itself. He jumped on the curb, then onto the median, lost control as he accelerated through Highland Avenue here and man, oh man, this could have ended so much worse. Certainly lots of damage that we've witnessed here. No major injuries that we've observed. Fortunately, this pursuit now coming to an end, but what a wild one and what a precarious circumstances we crisscrossed the streets of Hollywood. Fortunately, this has come to a peaceful end. Hopefully, they can extract the driver very peacefully as well and this will be all over, but right now officers with their guns drawn have no idea how many people are still inside that vehicle. Could very well be more than one person. So, we've got to wait and see here and they will proceed with caution. Fact that they started with that back door, unless they know that there's somebody back there, that's an indication to me that they are about to give the code four here and that may have very well been the only individual inside this van, but man, what a wild pursuit. Yeah, you can see here they've given the code four. Everybody walking back to their patrol cars, but it just became a very busy night here for the Hollywood division as they now have to attend to several different accident scenes all over as we made our way off of the 101 Freeway. That's where the damage really began and several other collisions between here and there and who this is that the driver That's the driver. So, that's This is the driver we're looking at here. And uh >> Looks like an older man. >> Yeah. >> Looks like an older older man. Uh that's the best that we can tell from this from from this vantage point, but uh he is now up against the patrol car. >> Officers took the unnamed man into custody and searched the van. They also moved people from nearby vehicles to safety. Possible charges included vehicle theft, evading law enforcement, and reckless driving. Tuesday, January 6th, 2026. Los Angeles authorities were pursuing a driver suspected of being under the influence. The attempted stop met resistance from a motorist who refused to pull over. >> dependents here as LAPD continues this pursuit at 90 mph over the median here. Light traffic as we make our way through Canoga Park. Coming around traffic here up at the red light, making a right turn. Wild turn throughout this pursuit. Fishtailing across all lanes. At one point just moments ago, there was a spike strip attempt that failed. He was able to navigate around that spike strip and is continuing at a high rate of speed here in Canoga Park. LAPD with their airship right overhead. That silver sedan heavily tinted wanted for a possible DUI driver behind the wheel here as that primary unit continues right on his tail in hot pursuit on a Monday night here in the San Fernando Valley. Coming up Oh, close call there. Coming around there, making a screwie and now going the opposite direction. We'll go ahead and put up our locator there, uh Josh. Copy that. That's going to be Baldwin, maybe maybe. Another major intersection coming up here. Lots of traffic at this one. Oh, into oncoming lanes of traffic threading the needle. There are cars in the oncoming lanes there at that intersection. Crossing back over the median, this guy is hauling at a high rate of speed here. You can see he's straddling that double yellow line there at speeds in excess of 80 to 90 mph. A little more traffic here on De Soto, north down De Soto through Canoga Park. And these intersections are are are really getting scary because he is not even showing signs of braking as he approaches some of these red lights here. Continuing up De Soto coming up on Osborne now. LAPD still managing to keep Copy that. Getting word now that they are not going to pit the suspect as they have reports of a handgun inside the vehicle. Driver believed to be armed with a handgun and that will preclude them from authorizing that pit maneuver. So, they're going to keep up with him as long as they can here. They will not pit him. They will spike him if they can. They've already shown signs of spiking him, but right now a pit maneuver appears to be off the table. Unknown how many people are inside this car. The driver possibly under the influence. Weaving around traffic here through a red light making a left turn. That's going to be eastbound. Eastbound. Eastbound Nordhoff. >> on this for a time after he got on the freeways on the 101 freeway for a while. That would have been a far better situation because there'd be no cross traffic. Here he's got cross traffic every every quarter mile or so and with it comes the danger of a collision every single time he blows through one of those red lights. Uh puts us puts us in in danger, puts him in danger, and the public in danger of a collision. Uh we don't know we that's a pretty clear shot you're getting of the driver there. The windows appear to be slightly tinted. No, maybe not. I don't know if they're tinted. The rear window may might be. But, uh the the driving is erratic. Uh there is a believed to be a weapon in the car. We don't know if there are other people in the car. Uh but, uh the fact that the the the the the assumption and the belief uh the suspicion that there is a weapon in the car means they're not going to do a PIT maneuver. They don't want an officer to get that close uh and put their lives in danger to actually put a PIT maneuver on this vehicle. Uh it's an older model looks like a Lexus sedan. Um and it's uh you know, it's got some get-up-and-go. Um It's a mid-2000s Lexus ES 300 is what I'm being told by one of our our our directors here. Uh >> Oh, but that's what he's in control. HERE HE GOES SPINNING OUT INTO the other side of the the uh Saticoy Street there. Coming out the other side almost into that power pole and has now lost control. Now head-to-head with these LAPD units. Effectively, what would have happened in a PIT maneuver is now what they are dealing with. An armed suspect now face-to-face with these officers. Smoke coming out from under the hood here after he lost control, swerved across the double yellow lines, and is now again, as I mentioned, head-to-head with those officers. You can see the windshield wipers have been activated. The driver now moving around inside the vehicle. Again, this is a driver who is under the influence, believed to be armed, very unpredictable, and has put so many lives in danger. They now have split-second decisions of their own to make as he now hopefully complies with their car at best. And uh with those split-second decisions that he was trying to make there, kind of a lot of head fakes as he came up at different intersections, showing signs of making turns, eventually though continuing down Saticoy. Now an arrest team approaching the vehicle. He is now communicating with those officers. They are going to approach him instead of him exiting the vehicle and it looks like his hands are still visible and he is willing to cooperate. >> All right. Well, that is all very good news. What we're watching unfold here live right now at the corner of Saticoy and Corbin Avenue in Reseda. LAPD responding they've after they've been chasing this guy for a good 45 minutes or so, perhaps longer. Uh they're going to use a knife here or something to cut the uh to cut the seat belt. They're going to try to They're going to get him out of the car. He may be hurt. That may be what he's been telling them. He may have been injured in the accident. Uh and they're going to get him out. But, you saw This is unusual. I I don't think I've seen this very often where they will actually come out uh on a suspect that they believe is armed with a shield and with a bunch of officers basically an arrest team to go get him. Uh and that's that's an unusual thing uh that we're that we're watching here. >> want to put yourself in that position. Those of officers are that in a much more precarious position if they have a gunman you know, they you know, facing them at the end of the pursuit. Again, not knowing what else is going on inside the vehicle. There were just too many unknowns that they don't want to do that. They don't want to put They don't want to take that risk. But, this was essentially what would have happened >> Officers took the unnamed driver into custody without further incident. A firearm was reportedly found inside his sedan, although the account did not establish whether its possession was unlawful. Possible charges include a driving under the influence, evading law enforcement, and reckless driving. On February 12th, 2022 Georgia troopers attempted to stop a Honda sport motorcycle already involved in an earlier pursuit. Its rider again ignored emergency lights and a siren declining another opportunity to pull over. >> I'm right here, Vince. All right, he's turning in. Well, now that you've got him turned around, you got to take him out. Uh Turning it into Lady now. All right, he's still rolling, still rolling. >> I'm right behind him, 10-17. >> All right, I got his brakes squealing on I-10 East Freeway. All right, he's continuing on I-10 East Freeway, still on I-10 East Freeway. >> Yeah, I'm going to go. I don't know what I'm going to do with my life. I don't know what I'm going to do now. I don't know what I'm going to do now. I don't know what to >> Get on the ground. Get on the ground. Get on THE DAMN GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. PUT YOUR HANDS ON YOUR BACK. ATTABOY. All right. Let's go through here. We're going Why? >> We want everybody that runs. >> It is you. >> I can tell you right now. >> Yeah, you knew you were screwed, didn't you? >> No, I didn't know I was going to get screwed. I didn't see the helicopter up there. I was over it, man. The helicopter told me I can't get away from the helicopter, man. Cuz the helicopter telling me everywhere >> Yeah. >> where I'm going. So, it's like >> This is the first one you saw, though, wasn't it? It was all black. >> Yeah, it was all black. I don't like running. Come on, man. I don't like running. >> You were laying, man. >> Yeah, it's like you were laying. >> Rider Bakari A. Brynie of Lithonia was arrested and no injuries were reported. Officers discovered that the motorcycle had suspended registration and no valid insurance. It was towed and Brynie was booked into Fulton County Jail. His charges included fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, speeding, and more. A U-Haul traveling near North Little Rock became the subject of an Arkansas State Police emergency response. The The report did not explain what happened beforehand or establish why any pursuit began. >> Hey, take the cooler out. How you going to do that? 297, look like it's on fire. Yeah, well, I got fire department on the Yeah, well, we got everybody in the camera right there. Just be advised, 40 East is not It's still flowing east on the service road to 440. >> IS HE STILL IN THERE? >> DO WE NEED to shut 40 down? We do, just go ahead and >> [ __ ] Get back, you. Hey, hey, engine, engine, engine, come to the engine, to the engine. You can just leave it. You got another one of you coming? >> NO. NO. >> CAN I GO AND EXTINGUISH IT? >> [ __ ] that's gone. >> Go fire, here's the fire. >> [ __ ] take the back. Hey, get back in get case it blow. 10-7 C-10-7 but it's still in there. >> Is your wife still in? >> Yeah. >> It's all the passenger was out. >> Is your wife Can you hear me? Hey, stay with me, all right? Stay with me. Hey, GO ON AND LEAVE CUZ I'M GOING TO SHUT THIS DOWN FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS. YOU CAN STAY IF YOU DON'T. >> TWO PEOPLE WERE PULLED FROM THE BURNING TRUCK, but one did not make it. The other received medical treatment and was reported to be in serious condition. No charges were reported and the account did not establish a basis for attributing a driving offense to either occupant. These pursuits have reached their end, but there are still plenty of unexpected turns ahead. Check out the next video for another collection of police chases that kept officers guessing.
