One evening in New Mexico, a Kia Soul caught the attention of state police after the driver reportedly drifted across lanes and blocked traffic behind him. The situation escalated quickly when the 20-year-old driver refused to stop because one of his passengers allegedly had warrants and did not want contact with law enforcement. >> [music] >> By the end of the stop, officers safely removed multiple people from the vehicle and discovered the driver had allegedly been drinking underage before getting behind the wheel. The driver was arrested on charges connected to fleeing and driving while intoxicated. While police also recovered a firearm from inside the Kia after the suspect admitted it was in the car. During a nighttime patrol in Florida, troopers spotted a white Porsche and a black Ford Mustang tearing down the interstate at extreme speeds. Seconds later, the Mustang decided pulling over was apparently less appealing than turning the highway into an audition tape for an action movie. >> Yeah, he's right behind me. Yep, I got him. HIT HIT HIT. >> 10-11 10-11 ADAM 10-25 Adam 10-25 >> Hey, see if we can get air support. See if we can get air support. It's an unsuccessful pit. Yeah, I got eyes right on him. Following the violent crash sequence, investigators also questioned whether drugs may have been involved while the driver faced charges tied to fleeing law enforcement and reckless driving after the pursuit left patrol vehicles damaged across the roadway. On September 3rd, 2022, Michigan State Police began tracking a silver Ford Fusion ripping through Shiawassee County at more than 100 miles per hour. Troopers soon learned the driver, Edward Dante Ray Hardy, was already connected to another fleeing incident in neighboring Clinton County. >> He almost lost it. 1726, I got eyes on you. He's on the right shoulder. He He just ran me, Central. Let me fix my slow gear. Central 13, I pushed him into the median. He just dropped something out of his vehicle in the median. We crashed out. Relax. On the ground. On the ground. On the ground. On the ground. Relax. Relax. Relax. Relax. >> Once Hardy was taken into custody, troopers recovered a loaded handgun that had allegedly been tossed from the vehicle during the chase. Investigators also located cocaine, marijuana packaged for sale, cash, and a digital scale inside the Ford Fusion, leading to additional charges tied to narcotics trafficking, weapons possession, and fleeing law enforcement. On October 31st, 2025, a stolen Toyota Corolla blasted down Interstate 55 at more than 100 miles per hour while weaving around traffic on Halloween night. Troopers quickly realized the driver was not just speeding, he was also convinced somebody was chasing him with guns earlier that evening. >> We're coming up to the 21. Man, I've had some pretty good friends, but I've never had one give me a car. >> Archie Boyd eventually surrendered after hiding in knee-high water beside the interstate and was arrested without further incident. Authorities later charged him with felony fleeing theft by receiving a stolen vehicle driving while intoxicated on drugs, driving on a suspended license, and multiple other offenses connected to the wrecked Corolla and damaged highway barriers. On May 27th, 2023, an Arkansas Trooper tried stopping a Ford Mustang after noticing problems connected to the vehicle's registration. Instead of pulling over immediately, the nervous driver kept going because he claimed he just wanted to reach his grandfather's house first. >> 5811 we're still eastbound towards Lake Village. Speed limit is 45 to 50 mph. Still going. Man, I don't want to pit you hard, but I'll have to. Yeah, 10-4. We're still rolling. I'm trying to go to my granddaddy house. >> Put your hands on your back. >> What did I do? >> Didn't stop. >> Sir, I wasn't running from you though. >> Sit there. >> I wasn't running from you. >> That's not what we do in Arkansas. >> I don't have no guns. >> That ain't Well, you should have stopped. >> I don't have no weapons, no nothing. And why didn't you stop? >> Because I I don't I'm nervous, sir. I just want to get to my granddaddy's house, man. >> Now, you're under arrest. >> I'm under arrest, sir? >> Yeah. My name's Drew Moore. I work for the State Police. I wrote you up cuz the tags on this car don't return to the car. >> This is not my car. This is my girlfriend's car. So, I didn't know that. >> Please, wait. >> Please, sir. >> You don't want to go to >> I got to go to jail? >> Yes. >> Sir, why? No, please, sir. Please. I'm just trying to go to my granddaddy Travis' house. And y'all want these, bro? Really? Can I call my granddaddy, please? I can't call my granddaddy? >> That's why not. Sit down. >> Why I can't call my granddaddy? >> Well, call him in a minute. Sit down. >> Man, bro, this is crazy. I ain't even do nothing. I ain't even do nothing. Oh my god. >> Once the pursuit ended, the driver repeatedly insisted he was not trying to run, even while officers reminded him that Arkansas State Police do not usually interpret speeding away as a polite misunderstanding. Investigators later discovered the tags on the Mustang did not match the car, while the driver also admitted the vehicle belonged to his girlfriend. On January 13th, 2021, officers in Wilmington, Delaware approached a suspicious vehicle parked near East 24th Street while investigating possible stolen cars in the area. The encounter turned deadly when Lyman Moses suddenly drove down a dead end road before turning back toward officers at a high rate of speed. >> County police. >> Huh? >> County police, we saw you sleeping in here, man. >> Well, MAKE SURE I'M ALL RIGHT, MAN. >> My mom live right here. >> You're sleeping with the car in drive. >> Bro, my mom live right here. Okay, this is going to be very easy. Just cooperate. >> If it's If it's just weed, we don't give a [ __ ] about weed. >> It's all that it is. >> Okay, if that's all it is, that's all right. >> No worries, man. Hop out with my buddy. Dude, just relax. Well, don't leave. Don't leave it. Don't leave. Don't leave. >> After the shooting, officers rendered aid to Moses while additional emergency crews responded to the scene. Authorities later confirmed Moses did not make it while investigators reviewed body camera footage and evidence surrounding the confrontation that unfolded within seconds. On July 5th, 2021, Georgia State Patrol joined Savannah police officers searching for a stolen silver Dodge Ram speeding through traffic outside Savannah. The driver later identified as Quadry Romel T. Williams allegedly treated interstate traffic laws like optional suggestions while forcing other motorists off the roadway. >> Bring it back. Try to bring it back a second time on the 7. Try to bring it back a third time on the 7. Try to bring it back a fourth time on the 7. Roll over. Roll over. Bring it back. Bring it back. Get out of the car. GET ON THE GROUND. EVERYBODY GET OUT OF THE CAR. GET OUT. GET OUT OF THE FREAKING CAR. >> [screaming] >> GET OUT. GET OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP. GET OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP. GET OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP. GET OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP. GET OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP. GET OUT. GET OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP. GET OUT. GET OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP. GET OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP. >> COME OUT THIS SIDE. >> GET OUT OF THE CAR. GET OUT OF THE CAR. GET OUT OF THE FREAKING CAR. I'M NOT A FIGHTER. GET OUT OF THE CAR. GET OUT OF THE CAR. >> FOLLOWING THE ROLLOVER CRASH, Williams and two female passengers were removed from the truck before flames began pouring from the engine compartment. Williams was arrested on charges tied to vehicle theft and felony fleeing while the passengers were transported to a hospital for evaluation after the wrecked Dodge caught fire beside the interstate. September 16th, 2024 started with a Missouri officer trying to stop a completely different vehicle on Interstate 44. Somehow Jacob Petucha in a green Ford F-250 took that personally and launched a 40-mile pursuit involving multiple counties, spike strips, destroyed property, and one very unlucky patrol car. >> 50 at the sign. >> 160 rally is approaching us. 160 rally just WENT AROUND US. 160 RALLY JUST WENT AROUND OUR PATROL CAR THROUGH THE GRASS. >> That berry tried to run the trooper over. Trooper jumped out and jumped out of the way. >> Oh my gosh. Are you guys still on 28 approaching town? >> No, we're on 63. Well, there's a Maries County on the bridge here with spikes looks like. He's not going to get around this one. Hey, you got as he hits the car, ooh. Hang on. Hang on, he might just hit the car. Oh, he did. He's He's hit the Maries County car. >> He hit the Maries County car? >> Yep. Yep, he stopped on the bridge, I'm guessing the Gasconade River bridge. >> Copy. >> 10-50. >> All right, we got it. Thank you. >> Yeah. Yeah. Careful. Is that the abandoned vehicle? >> I'm sorry, no. I'm 1080 out of this tonight. >> Look at the tow truck coming. It's a uh >> The chase finally ended after Petucha slammed into a deputy's vehicle near the Gasconade River Bridge, ripping a wheel completely off his truck and disabling both vehicles. He was taken to jail after medical evaluation and later faced charges including assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest by fleeing, property damage, and driving with a revoked license. On November 3rd, 2022, California officers tracked a stolen big rig rolling down the 5 Freeway after it was [music] reportedly taken out of Kern County. The driver kept going even after spike strips shredded one of the truck's front tires and sparks started spraying across the highway. >> Right now, but now just smack in the middle in between two lanes. With a three or four CHP officers behind him right now. >> Yeah, they definitely know they are being pursued. They just don't want to pull over. And it is one of those wonderful moments where at least uh the great f- >> Oh, I was just about to say the wrong thing. I was just going to say at least it looks like it's a light flow of traffic. >> Oh my goodness. >> Poor drivers um and they clearly have somewhere to get to. You You don't want to go on this artery if you don't have somewhere to get to. >> And we know how like Thursday afternoon traffic is even worse than Friday sometimes, especially through there. My goodness. >> And you always worry about people if they don't have enough gas. You don't You know, these these trucks are gas guzzlers, I would assume, but um you You don't know how many miles they can get being that they are long haul They They do support long haul haul trips. >> Mhm. >> But um again, we're watching this slow speed pursuit. You can see it's on the I-5 right there. And oh, look at that right there. That's the best thing about Sky Map 7. >> might have some sort of strip set up. >> Yep. There you see the spike strips there along the freeway and the officer's waiting there. And so, hopefully he will not see these spike strips and just come to a stop or just drive right over them. Uh he doesn't have much choice. >> As we continue to follow this slow-speed pursuit that's taking place. Again, it originated out of >> he is approaching the spike strips. Oh, let's see if he can somehow maneuver. Nope, he's going right over it with the at least the right side of his tires and dragging it. Oh, let's hope this did something. Move. >> Yeah. >> That Oh, well, we have Gabe Santos who's up in Air 7 with a bird's-eye view. And what do you know, Gabe? >> Hey, Colleen. Ellen, good to be with you guys up here in Air 7. We've been monitoring this big rig pursuit. Well, we first heard about it coming out of Kern Valley. We understand Kern Kern County, excuse me, Kern County Sheriff's Department initiated this pursuit of this stolen big rig. And then you've been watching our our coverage from our NewsCopter 7, our second news helicopter, taking it over the Grapevine and now up towards Castaic. We're still about 5 mi north of Castaic now. And you saw CHP had spike strips. Oh, oh, and there goes the front right tire. The front right tire has completely fallen off the vehicle. And this is going to be a big steering challenge for this driver for this driver as we maneuver Air 7 around from the driver's side. Now back to the passenger side to see what it by those spike strips. The tire's in the back. And from what we can tell Oh, and there it goes. There it goes. The tire's gone. So, that possibility for fire we're clear from that for now. That tire's off and at least that tire catching fire, that's not something we have to worry about. The next thing we're going to have to worry about is the wear and tear on the wheel itself and possibly the brake rotors as that starts digging into the roadway surface. And you can kind of see it right under that wheel. You can see it drawing a white line into the roadway surface. So, it's definitely grinding in there pretty good making this big rig truck or this big rig cab very hard. Front tire completely locked up. It's not even spinning. I don't even see the tire there. I don't see the rubber. It looks like Okay. Okay. If just in a little bit of the dark spot of the picture there, you can see where the rubber actually remains as Rob pushes in the camera. You can see the tread of the tires right there being held up and you can see now sparks being created because that that rim isn't even turning anymore. Sparks are coming up and I wouldn't be surprised if we see flames pretty soon here and that's where you see that smoke. That's why we're seeing that smoke. A very dangerous situation. These cabs carry a lot of fuel and that could all go up in flames if this guy doesn't come to a stop pretty quickly here. >> I just really wish they would cuz they're probably very they're probably unaware of the hazard that is [music] right directly below them. >> And you can see what's melted that rim down a bit. You can >> It's grinding [music] down to it. Yeah, it looks like but it >> slope. It's a pretty steep slope. You'll You'll You'll see a lot of of turnout points for big rigs to use if they have brake problems and you can imagine I don't think this driver's brakes Oh, there he is trying to signal something to us. Trying to Yeah. Yeah. Trying to point us to the note but but unfortunately >> smoky cab. How about that? >> Maybe he can't drive Stop. Let you know, never know. Maybe the brakes are locked up. Maybe he can't drive I'm always trying to figure out maybe there's [music] something There's There's something that's causing them great distress that they can't seem to pull over. But now we see his hood. >> seems like he's using his shirt to try and cover his mouth from the smoke and there it is. More flames. >> passenger I mean that it's in the cab now. >> Well, it looks like they stopped. Which is good. >> Yep. >> So, the brakes seem to be working. >> We've We've come to a stop but that tire that was wedged under the wheel well there is now completely engulfed in flames and that's only going to help burn the rest of the cabin. There is the driver, hands up, stepping out of the vehicle down onto the pavement. This is a very good sign and this might have been the only way to bring this thing to a stop was those spike strips actually causing this cab to set fire there. You can see there CHP moving in, a K9 unit also moving into position. This driver backing up, hands in the air. It looks like he's cooperating. That's a very good sign there, slowly backing up. He's not carrying that white piece of paper that he was so adamant getting us to see earlier. So there'll be questions after this as to what what that said, what he was trying to tell us and you can see now this cab is going to go up in flames because it has it has a lot burning under there and that's going to catch really quickly. That's suspect. >> The pursuit came to an end when the driver finally surrendered moments before the massive truck became fully engulfed in flames near Newhall. Firefighters rushed in to battle the blaze while traffic backed up for miles and investigators worked to determine why the suspect allegedly stole the rig in the first place. Thursday, July 31st, 2025, an Arkansas trooper spotted a silver Dodge Charger speeding through Little Rock with paper tags attached to the car. The driver, Carlos Butler, initially slowed down during the stop before suddenly deciding he had somewhere much more important to be. >> Take it off. He took off and went southbound on Lincoln Way. North of Battle. North of Battle. >> Let me see YOUR [ __ ] HANDS. >> [screaming] >> I'LL SHOOT YOU. I'LL SHOOT YOUR [ __ ] ASS. LEFT HAND, NOW. LEFT HAND. [screaming] HANDS. HANDS, GOD DAMMIT. DON'T YOU [ __ ] MOVE. I'LL [ __ ] shoot your ass. I will [ __ ] shoot you. You stay right there. Don't you [ __ ] move. Don't [ __ ] move. I will shoot your ass. The slack is out of this trigger. I will [ __ ] shoot you. Then don't you [ __ ] move. Do you understand me? Stay right the [ __ ] there. I swear to God I'll shoot your [ __ ] ass. Get over the seat. Get over the [ __ ] seat. Obey directions now. Straight on the [ __ ] ground. I don't want to see your hands go anywhere. Straight on the [ __ ] ground. Hands behind your back. >> That's crazy. I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything. >> After officers boxed him in at the end of the pursuit, Butler insisted he had not been fleeing despite allegedly running stop signs, red lights, and nearly every ounce of patience the troopers had left. He was later booked on charges including felony fleeing, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, open container violations, and multiple traffic offenses. On September 21st, 2024, Florida Highway Patrol units in Escambia County began chasing suspected drug traffickers who were weaving dangerously through traffic at high speed. Troopers believed the suspects were trying desperately to avoid being caught with narcotics inside the vehicle. >> I'm going to sit back for a bit. Okay, I can't get around. This way is through Brent, don't curve. Just threw a bag out. Just do my Threw a large bag out Carlos. Uh just uh south of Brent. Yeah, I'm on it. I just got to find him. They put him in the back of my car. Yeah. Signal four, signal four, signal four. COPY SIGNAL FOUR. YOU BETTER NOT MOVE OR I'LL SHOOT. I'LL SHOOT. >> WHERE DID HE CRASH OUT, HUH? >> 10-4 12 and gross. 11-46 did he continue? >> GIVE HIM CHARGES AND HANDLE. 11-46 ROLLING IN THERE. 10-4. I'M SENDING ANOTHER UNIT. >> No need to call. Okay, we're good. We're almost there. >> 11-46 >> Go ahead. >> Do you have that suspect 10-15? >> We're getting another car. >> 10-30 traffic >> The pursuit ended with officers surrounding the suspects and taking them into custody during a coordinated felony stop. Investigators then began processing tied to alleged narcotics trafficking while the suspects faced charges including aggravated fleeing and multiple possession and trafficking illegal substances. On April 26, 2025, Arkansas State Police joined Little Rock officers chasing a stolen 1995 Buick Century through Interstate 30 in the middle of the night. The driver, Michelle Boyster, also reportedly had active felony warrants waiting for her before the pursuit even began. >> He's in the only one with traffic. We should be taking a left. We got to do this here. 10-98 10-98 10-4 We are 10-98 Suspect in the video at the field. 10-98 10-98 >> Just run. Nice maneuver. Hopefully this thing don't catch on fire. Hopefully it don't catch on fire, man. Thank you. Yeah, absolutely. >> After the Buick spun into the grass shoulder, Boyster tried escaping through the passenger side door, but was quickly caught by officers. Police later confirmed she had felony warrants from both Saline County and Pulaski County. While the stolen Buick was turned over to Little Rock police for further investigation. On August 22nd, 2025 Arkansas troopers clocked a gray Chevrolet Corvette flying down Interstate 630 at 92 mph in a 60 mph zone. The driver, Jorge Rubio of Tennessee, allegedly responded to emergency lights by treating downtown Little Rock like a racetrack instead of a city street. >> Get out of my way. Check the car. >> You're done, man. >> I know I'm a dumb [ __ ] >> We know you ain't got a gun. >> Check the car. Check the car. Check the car. Car clear. >> Hours after the Corvette disappeared from officers multiple times, police cameras helped track the car down before another pursuit ended in a single-vehicle crash. Rubio was transported for medical evaluation before being booked on charges including felony fleeing, speeding, running a red light, improper window tint, and registration violations. On June 6th, 2015, Seattle police responded after a suspect allegedly stole a purse from a parked car before jumping into a waiting stolen vehicle. The getaway lasted only moments before the driver lost control in Seattle's Magnolia neighborhood and flipped the car onto its roof. >> STOP RIGHT THERE, BUDDY. STOP RIGHT THERE. I WILL I WILL SHOOT YOU. I will shoot you. Get back here now. GET BACK HERE NOW. RIGHT NOW. Come on back here, buddy. >> Even after crawling from the burning wreck, the suspect still tried escaping on foot through the neighborhood before officers finally caught him nearby. Police later transported him to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, while investigators linked him to a string of burglary cases across the city. On September 10th, 2024, an Arkansas trooper attempted a simple traffic stop on Interstate 49 because a vehicle had an inoperable brake light. Instead of stopping, Saleema Actor reportedly kept driving for nearly 3 mi despite looking directly at the patrol vehicle beside her. >> Small pickup and DUI. >> Confirm you're about the DUI. >> 10-4, white Ford pickup. >> Confirm you're on the way. >> Yeah, go ahead. >> Williamson, 10-7, 10-15, you're 10-22. >> You got the DUI. >> Get out of the car. That's it. >> Right here. Where's your ID? >> Here. >> Where is it? >> I need to get it in the >> In your car? >> Yes. Yes. >> Okay. Walk back here. When you see a police officer with his blue lights, you don't keep driving. You don't look at him. >> I don't know. Actually, I came here because >> Tell me, ma'am, why you would not stop. >> I came here because I came here because it's not safe to police Don't don't stop. >> We definitely want you to stop and not just look at us and keep driving when we got our blue lights and our siren on. >> Yes. >> That is not what you do. >> I'm not saying or the police told me, "Please don't be stopped. Please Please be careful." So, I did not be stopped. >> Ma'am, I doubt that is the case. >> You know, I have an interview at 4:00. >> You what? >> I'm I'm I'm driving to the expo because I am an international um scholar. So, my job is at >> Okay. Well, it's You're probably going to miss that, ma'am. >> Actor was eventually arrested after the maneuver stopped the car safely on the interstate. She later told troopers she believed other law enforcement officers had previously advised her not to stop when emergency lights were activated and she was booked on charges including fleeing, careless driving, and defective vehicle equipment violations. On May 9th, 2024, Kent State University Police responded after Dr. Ellen Glickman called for help getting into a campus building because she urgently needed a restroom. Officers quickly became concerned when the long-time School of Health Sciences director struggled with her access cards and showed signs of intoxication outside Nixon Hall. >> I'm fine. >> I don't think you're okay to drive. >> I think I'm okay to drive. I have a Tesla. Sir. >> Just cuz you have a Tesla doesn't mean you it's not going to drive itself. >> Sir, I'm going to call your captain in a minute. >> That's fine.
