Eventually, he had me held down by the neck. >> Okay. >> I don't remember all of it. >> And that's all that happened and then what happened? >> I left. Hotel staff showed up, heard the incident, and I left. >> So, that's all the detail that you can remember. There's nothing nothing else that you can remember about the events that happened. Like nothing specific. Okay. All right. So, >> I'd really like to just get a hotel and get out of here as possible. >> Understandable, but we got >> He does still have my phone and I'm hoping to get that back if that's possible. >> All right. Doesn't mean you're arrested or you're in trouble, but I have to read this to you, okay? Um having these rights in mind, do you wish to speak with me? >> Yeah. >> Okay. When you went into the room, did you at any point pick up a lamp and swing it at him? >> After he hit me. >> After he hit you? >> Yes. >> Okay. Do you know which hand he hit you with? No. What what what did he exactly get mad at you about? >> Coming home so late. >> Just coming home late? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> I'd really like to just get out of here if possible. I understand. I just made a mistake I made a mistake by being here. I'd like to get back to a better situation. >> I understand. Um, so he's got a ton of marks. How did how how would you say he's he obtained all those all those marks or where did he >> Because I fought back. >> Okay. >> point he was holding me down by my neck. >> So, how did you get to the lamp? >> I don't even remember. >> No, okay. Um, at any point did you grab him by the neck? >> No. >> Not at all? >> No. >> Okay. And when he was holding you down, what was he just holding you down and you were flailing or what was he doing while he was holding you? >> me down. >> Just holding you down? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> At one point by the neck it varied. I have fighting back and trying to get away. Whole thing lasted probably like 5 minutes. >> The whole ordeal? >> Yeah. >> So, when you left, you were able to grab his keys and did he try to stop you from leaving at all or did you just kind of grab the >> time I left the hotel staff showed up and he got off of me when the hotel staff showed >> Was it hotel staff or was it other guests? >> Hotel staff. >> Okay. And where where have you been this whole time? In the car? Cuz you just walked All right, so you've just been sitting in the car? >> Yeah. Trying to collect my thoughts. He has my phone so I'm not sure exactly where to go or how to get a hotel room or a flight out. >> Okay, and you have like your wallet, ID, and everything like that? Um, >> Not my phone, no. >> Not your phone? Okay. Did you drive the car anywhere? I can show you where the keys are. >> Um before you do that, can I get your ID from you? >> All right. If I could just go home, that would be amazing. >> We're getting there. We're getting to that point. >> I made a bad mistake. >> Almost there. >> I got caught up in the moment. >> Yeah. All right. I'm going to have you hang out with these guys. Okay. I'm going to go talk to Joshua again, okay? >> could get my phone >> I'll try to and I'll ask him about your phone as well. All right? Um all right. So, he's got a couple marks on his neck. What He said >> Okay. So, he said his story was he came in, you got mad, and you hit him, and he started fighting back. >> I understand that is the story he tried to tell the people that came to help us in our room. >> Coming at you. >> in, he was standing over me. He screamed that I abandoned him. I was a horrible person. Don't I [ __ ] ever touch him again. I had not touched him at that point. And then he started hitting me. >> Okay. So, >> and I let him hit me two or three times before I was like, "No, stop. Stop this." >> Okay. >> And then it turned into the scuffle of let's not hit each other. >> Mhm. >> And that's where all these marks have come from. >> And then so, he's got a couple marks on his neck, and he said you Did you at any point hold him down by his neck? >> I had him pinned to the floor so he would try to calm down. I'm not sure where my hands were at that point in time. It all happened so fast. You understand this. And I just wanted to defend myself and make sure that he was not rip cuz he's broken my leg before. >> Yeah. How how did he do that? Just out of curiosity for context. >> we were at a bar with friends again. And he blamed me for doing something with a friend. And just kind of took a swing at me while we were sitting at the table. And then when I got up, he just He started punching and kicking and >> Yeah, had a big scar. Okay, so he kicked you in the leg and then >> me, I fell, the thing was broken. He started hitting me several times. He was punching my legs, my chest. >> Okay, what was the first the first blow? Like what was the first blow? >> He started hitting me in my thighs and my >> How was How was he hitting you? >> down. He was just punching over me. >> Okay, so you're in bed? >> I was in bed. I was in bed. >> And he's standing next to the bed? >> He's standing over me in the bed and he started punching me. >> He started punching your thighs? >> He started punching my thighs, my chest. He hit me in the face a couple of times and then as it moved up, that's when I started defending myself. When he wasn't able to hit me any longer, he grabbed the bedside table. >> your thighs? >> He grabbed the lamp on the bedside table and started taking swings at me. I grabbed >> bed at this point? >> Yes, I was still in bed at this point. >> So, he swung the lamp at you while you were in bed? >> While I was in bed, yes. >> And did it make contact with you? >> It did, but I was able to grab the lamp shade and hold it until he ripped it apart. So, the lamp shade was ripped apart. Pushed him off the bed, he hit the wall on the floor. I backed off, I thought, "Okay, he's hit the wall. Maybe that'll knock some sense. Like I'm defending myself. Like, "Hey, hey, stop this." >> All right. Just hang here for 1 second. I'm just going to talk to him, okay? >> Sure. >> All right, DJ, so do me a favor, just step Stand up. Do me a favor, just turn around. Just place your hands behind your back, all right? Am I Am I >> We're going to figure it out right now. >> Can I ask you guys if you guys have a car? >> Oh, we found that already. >> Did you find the keys? >> We found the keys and >> We found the keys and everything. >> So, what's happening? >> So, I'll explain it to you in 1 second, all right? >> Why can't I just go get a hotel? But >> like, for real, up? >> So, listen, you're being placed under arrest for battery, okay? >> Well, I was just defending myself. >> From what? Everything that we figured out and talked about and and came to the conclusion that you were the aggressor, okay? >> just defending myself. >> So, we're going to I'm going to place you in the back of the car, okay? >> So, what do I need to do to be able to get out? >> So, in the morning, after jail, you'll see a judge for first appearance. He's going to give you a bond. You're going to pay 10% of that bond. >> Well, I don't I don't live in town. I live in Portland. >> So, do me a favor and just widen your stance, okay? You have anything that can stab, stick, or poke me on you? >> No. I left my wallet in the car during my conference. >> Okay. Um and your wallet and all that stuff is in there? >> Should be. >> Okay. All right. And I have your ID, okay? So, that's going to go with you to jail, as well. All right? Thank you. >> So, tomorrow, appear in front of a judge, and then I should be free to go? >> Yeah. Once the judge will let you know everything. They'll give you all the details. Um They'll let you know everything every step of the way, okay? >> When will that be happening? >> That normally happens around 8:00, 9:00 in the morning. >> Got you. >> So, not long. You know, like 6 hours. >> I'll need to move money to be able to post bail. Can I have my phone for that when the time comes? >> Um well, um your wallet and your phone and your charger are going to go with you. It'll be in your property at the jail. So, once you need to bond out, um you should be able to figure something out. >> Got you. >> The man was charged with domestic battery. Court records indicate the state declined to pursue charges, and the case was dismissed.
