This military wife reports an alleged assault and then chooses jail after refusing to leave the property. I was assaulted. She hit me in the face. Your husband is military and then this is your boy toy, right? My husband's gay. That's abused. Get in the car. Cops respond after a woman is allegedly struck in the face with a hat, but things quickly escalate when officers return to find her intoxicated and unwilling to leave. Take a look. Come in. I heard there's a [ __ ] slapping contest going on. How you doing? I'm doing all right, man. Doing all right. I will uh I'll catch up with you in just a second. All right. How do I Can you take me to the restaurant real quick? Yep. What the hell's going on here? Hey, what's going on? I've got this lady supposedly slapped another lady with her hat in case of the other party out here. trying to keep them separated. Which lady? Which lady? What? Which lady? This is the one that supposedly did the Okay, whatever. I have the other one outside. Will you stay with her? Trying to figure out what's going on here at the office. This table. All right. Thank you. How's it going, man? Um, so the lady I don't know if you Yeah, we have somebody with her. Okay. Um, the bartender over there, he was the one. He's my main witness. There were other witnesses, but they're our friend, so obviously, you know. Um, I would like to press charged. Okay. What happened? I was assaulted. She hit me in the face. Okay. Can we go home with him? Because he can explain it to you so I don't have to. Well, I need I need it from you as well. Okay. From what happened to you? So, at in the beginning, um her and her friend were sitting right there and I came up. I've never been here before and I was just being cordial like, "Hey, have you guys been here before? Is it nice? Is that this?" And she just starts being mean to me. And I asked her friend, I'm not going to lie, you ask her friend. I'm like, "Is your friend okay?" And I just turned around, walked away, went over there, and I went to check to see the temperature of the hot tub and how far away it was. I came back and apologized to her, you know, for upsetting her. I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't touch her. I didn't hit her. I didn't do anything. And then she proceeded to take her hat and slap me in the face with the on the side. Okay. and she continued to berate me and call me all these things. Things don't bother me, but I do not like violence and I do not like people hitting me, touching me and people who believe that they can do that and get away with it. No. How many times did she hit you? Not that it matters. I I believe just once, but it could have been twice. Uh he would give you the bartender saw it. Yeah, he he saw it completely. Okay. Because at that immediate moment, I was like, "You just assaulted me." And she's like, "I didn't I didn't assault you." And he turned around, he said, "I just saw you do that." I did see all of that. You did? Okay. Before we get to talk to the bartender, got your side of the story. Okay. Seems to be the victim in this. I mean, we have a battery investigation. Let's just make clear that people keep thinking it's assault. Like, you know, you assaulted me. We use the word assault as if it's actually the definition of the crime that was committed. No, it's battery. Yes. Okay, perfect. It was very It was like the way she moves her hand like she really did. She hit her hard. She did. You She did hit her. Yeah. Okay. Like I was It was all the way over there and I was by like the Island Owens machines and I heard it snap. Like I watched it happen. Like you physically saw it happen. Physically saw. I like I immediately had to grab her and went inside. Okay. Yeah. All right. Okay. So, I don't have security till 9:00 the whole video. Yeah, I I understand. I We have eyewitnesses. We don't really need it. I think that um this chick with the big green eyes is a scam artist. She came up to me and my friend were like hanging out and she just kind of like is scamming me like, you know, and I wasn't aggressive. Like, I'm not a mean or like I'm not like an aggressive person. I've never had the cops called on me. So, to me, this is So, do you feel like we were called on you? Why? I don't know. I'm so That's my best friend. She's about to get hustled. This woman was talking about $5,000 in damages. She's a scammer. It's out. There's some There's something going on. So, somebody they called it in and they said that it was just an argument. But then I'm reading the notes and it says somebody slapped somebody. No. 5,000 sandwiches. Did you get scanner? No. Did you slap somebody? Did you touch somebody? Did you even touch somebody? Well, I I went like this with my this. Would this be No. Yeah, that's a battery. Really? Well, if the person doesn't want to be touched. No, it's a scam. Hold on, man. Do you happen to have your ID on you? Uh, yeah, of course. Um, military or just your driver's license will be fine. I don't have a driver's license, but I do have an ID ID. That's fine. That works. Who is this to you? Uh, that is my best friend. Okay. 13. Are you right now? Yeah. Go ahead. Are those other people guests of the hotel? Are you guys staying here? Yes. Yes, they are. What branch of the military were you in? Navy. Still in. Still in? Yeah, I'm a I'm a recruiter for the United States Navy. Snoop out right there. Thank you. Yeah, let me uh kind of fill that in real quick. Uh you're not going to be going upstairs cuz someone's going to end up at the Gray Bar Motel. I'm going tell you that right now. Okay. Someone's story doesn't dive like we used to say, right? You know what sucks is that as police officers, we got to make decisions as to who's going to be the victim and you know, who's going to be the uh suspect. Do you happen to have your identification? This is yours, my dear. I'll go get mine if you want. Uh, I'll do I'll just do this another way. There it is. Right in your face. Yeah. No problem. I didn't mean to do that, but like I'm nervous. I'm not used to this. We're just talking. Do you get nervous every time you talk to somebody? A cop? Well, not off duty. Oh, okay. All right. I kind of feel like I'm in trouble. Don't feel like that. I do. I don't like that. Don't feel like that. I'm never coming back here ever again. To Florida. You live in Florida? No, I live in Florida. Oh, I'm never coming back to get a hustler. This chick is a problem. This chick is a problem. This chick is a problem. And I'm not I'm not mean. I'm not aggressive. Just settle down. It'll be okay. You hit 40 and then all of a sudden you can't see the Now I'm like getting hot. I'm pissed. Just relax. That doesn't that doesn't do anything to help your situation. I know. I know. I know. Well, I didn't have a situation. I know. I was nice. I don't know. I'm going to call BS on that. I mean, look, you seem very nice. You and your friend. We would like to know. I guess I'm speaking for all of us, right? We would like to know more about the scam. $5,000 in damages. I didn't quite get that whole story. But yeah, you're nice, but still, I mean, you know, you must have gotten fed up and just, you know, slapped your your hat, committed a battery. That's what you did. So, uh, we have positive on battery. She wants to press charges. We have eyewitnesses. Okay. Did you ID the victim? Slash aggressor. Just hold off. Hey, so we spoke with the other people and her husband and some of the other people that they were with. So they said that this woman, the the victim, right, she said that she kept approaching them multiple times and then the husband said that she approached him multiple times today and he they kept telling her to leave them alone and they were at the bar for hours. She was around them one time and the one who hit her said, "Get out of here. you're ugly as and shoot her away. Yeah. So, and then she hit her. Apparently not at the like apparently just somewhere on the shoot. I didn't see that. I can't I guess she's been approaching them multiple times today and they've told her to leave her leave from the 3 hours 4 hours that they've been sitting at this bar. I've never seen her around. So, that's just my personal account. Okay. No, that's fine. We're just trying to They said that she's kind of been bugging them all day about something about $5,000. And so, they keep telling her to go away and then I guess she came to hit on the husband. And that's so she said if you come over here I'm talking about earlier apparently she told her if she came to hit on her husband again she was going to get hit and she came over here again and so that's what happened. I the two things that I saw she shoot her away like that and said you're ugly as [ __ ] And then she was around again and I saw her whip the [ __ ] out of her face with a hat. Okay. So let me get this straight. So she's defending her husband. That's the suspect right now. She is the suspect, right? This is the woman with the hat and the weapon is that hat and there's a little backstory to it now. So now we're building a little bit more of evidence if you will, right? There's this investigations that's continuing and we're getting more information which is good because the end result is going to be again do we uh arrest do we affect an arrest uh based on this battery that was not committed in the presence of a police officer. And of course in the state of Florida in a lot of states, uh they do offer you, hey, do you want to press charges? And when you do that and you say yes, well, yeah, you are responsible for the arrest and the booking process. The remainder part of the proceedings, uh, you are responsible. Meaning, you're going to have to go to court and explain to the judge exactly what happened and and go from there. Okay. Hi, my name is Sue. Hi, my name is Bill. Bill. Hi, Sue. You got a lot going on. I'm scared. about this place. That's what she said. You got some stuff like what baggage? Emotional baggage. What are you talking about? We all have emotional baggage. My belly. Oh, that's not very nice. You want me to say it? Are you insulting me because of my physique? A gun radios. You know what? None of that stuff hurts anybody. Okay, I'm going to go now. It's never hurt me. I'm getting nervous. It's never hurt me. I'm really scared. I don't have my license. I just need to speak with you for a second. Okay. So, her the witness, the bartender, this lady did hit her with her hat after telling her to go away. She made a soft confession about Yeah. Um, apparently he said that he never saw those people go up to her. Like, they said that they've [laughter] been up to her multiple times throughout the day. This is obviously just at the bar. Okay. Go ahead. But um the bartender said that he didn't hear any of the stuff that happened before or see any of the stuff that happened before. He heard he saw her try to shoe her away and say, "You're ugly as get away from us." And then she wouldn't go away. So she hit her with the hat to get her to go away. He's very adamant about pressing charges. I don't I think we could spin it to where we don't need to. If she just if she wouldn't go away and she was like go away and brush her with the hat. By definition, we have battery and she does want to press charges. But I feel like if we talk to her, we can get her. She is under the impression that she hit her. Is she intoxicated? She see she seems that way, but the bartender said he has not served her all day. That doesn't mean jack [ __ ] She could have a fifth in the room that she drank 5 minutes ago. But um she also was unsure about how many times she hit her. I said, "How many times did she hit you?" She said, "Once." But I'm not sure she might. Okay. Tell her that if we have everybody's information and if she wants to file a report for battery, she needs to come to the station tomorrow and give her the address. Tell her we're not making an arrest on this today. Okay, we'll do. Good job, Sarge. You know what? That's what you're there for. give us that advice, make those decisions. Which, by the way, back in uh LAPD when I used to work patrol, we used to call that a business dispute where we just tell both parties, look, we'll go ahead and take a report, you know, to document, you know, what happened, this incident, and and and so be it. We're not going to effect an arrest. We don't need to do all that. Everybody except for you, go away. Everybody else, go away. Stand up. Hey, listen. I'm going to tell you guys this once, okay? If I have to come back here, you're going to jail. Okay, listen. It's the brush with the hat. The lady is adamant about pressing charges, which would mean we would arrest you tonight. I understand. But it's [ __ ] We know it's [ __ ] Okay. So, we're not going to arrest you tonight. All righty. Here's your ID back. Thank you. All right. Here's a case card. This has our case number and everything on it right here. Okay. Okay. So, what we're doing right now, security is not here until 10:00 to get us a video. All right. What I was told to tell you, um, we we do not have enough right now to make physical arrest on scene because of the differing stories. I have to I have another witness as well, right? They also have several that said that you approached them multiple times after they told you to leave them alone. No, no, no, no. Absolutely not. Um, I Okay. Well, I've had five or six people tell me that. So these people over there, they asked me what what happened. So the initial situation happened right there underneath that palm tree and I was just asking them, "Hey, have you been here before?" Like I I wasn't I wasn't like in their face or anything like, "Hey, you've been here before? What's up?" And she just started being snarky to me. And I looked at the other friend. The other friend was a brunette. And I was just like, "Is she okay?" Then I went to the hot tub. I came back to go to the bar to apologize for any inconvenience or if I disturbed her and then that's when she hit me. She didn't try to shoe you away first. No. Okay. Well, I have multiple people telling me that. Even the bartender said they did try to get you to leave. Okay. So, and you kept and you kept speaking with them and then she shued you away by using her hat. No, she hit me with her hat. With assault? Yes. Okay, that is solved. So, we're and then you can see through the cameras that I was no closer to her than this and she reached out and hit me. So, we we have all your information, all her information. All right. So, we're not making a physical arrest on scene. Okay. But we know where she's staying and everything. We're going to come back. You know where I'm staying. Correct. We're going to come back tonight. Security's going to get us footage when they get here at 10:00. Okay. Okay. And if everything is the way that you say it is, Yes. If you've been drinking tonight, don't come tonight. No. See, I I those are my all my drinks. Okay. Cuz once that happened, I didn't drink anymore cuz I wanted to be able to converse with you about the situation. I understand. Uh our address is on that card as well as my information. Okay. So, yeah. Um in the morning whenever we have records there, if you still want to make a report about it, come in tomorrow morning. Okay. We're going to have everything done. We're going to have the video, all that. Everything. I don't think people should get away with abuse. I understand. You guys need to stay out of common areas, right? I know we'll be back, right? Do you understand what I'm saying? Go to your room and stay there or go to a different hotel and stay there, right? Stay away from this lady and don't be anywhere where she can see you, right? You're you're getting a huge break. I'm serious. This is a huge break cuz on a normal day, I'd probably just take you to jail and get it over with. That way we don't have to deal with it tomorrow. Yeah, I get it. Totally. Totally. So, here's your identification. Thank you. Have your friends come to your room and have drinks in your room if you want if you want to, but don't leave your room. I appreciate that. I'm And she's looking to see us again. I'm sure I'm sure she is. Oh, she's what some people would call an [ __ ] Oh, okay. So, just go back to your room. Thank you so much. Don't come Don't come back. I got you. I got you. Thank you so much. May I ask you to speak with those people cuz they were right behind me when it happened. Which people? Um underneath the umbrella. I'm almost certain. I can't see very far away. But um right after it happened, she hit me. Hey, we got this other call. We got to go. Okay. All right. All right. You got you got what I told you, correct? I'm picking up what you Yes, ma'am. Okay. Code four. But it seems to me that there's probably more to this video than what just happened. All right, since you called, I'm going to tell you what's going on. Okay, we're doing a report on this incident. We're not arresting anybody. If the lady wants to file charges, she's been told to go back to this down to our station tomorrow. We're going to come back later tonight and get the video. Okay, good. All right. Thank you. Is it just some little dumb thing? Pretty much. Really? Somebody getting their butt hurt. That's all she going to live. Everybody's going to live. It's a beautiful day in the shores, guys. Is everybody alert? What the hell y'all got going on tonight? The hell y'all doing over here tonight? Where's she at? Giving us an entertainment show. So, here you go. Where is she? You're right. Hey, buddy. What are we doing here? Exactly. What are we doing here? We service. Exactly. What are we doing here? Why are we back, Brandy? I'm going to tell you right now, if SARS shows up, I think that's the officer's uh body warn video. But if Big Sarge shows up, he's not going to be happy. Like, no nonsense. And I can tell when I was a sergeant on patrol, I used to always try to resolve, you know, the conflict, right? Or come to some peaceful resolution. And yes, it's happened to me before where I had to go back to that location. And you're like, "Oh my god." Okay, now you know what? We're not playing around. Someone's going to jail. Okay. Can you please I will do everything you want me to do. I am not intoxicated. 1 2 3 4 4 3 2 1. Anything else you want me to do? I don't know what you're doing there, but like I I mean he's I'm intoxicated. I'm I'm not. Here. Just have a seat for me real quick. What What are you wanting done? Are I've had enough. All right. Me. So, my bartender authority. There you go. He's got eviction authority. Just say you're no longer welcome on our property and we'll take care of the rest. You're no longer welcome on our property. Okay. What room are you guys in? May May I ask? What room are you in? 303. Let's go to 303 right now. March. March. Walk that way or go to jail? No. That is really the option you're going to choose because you're you're not even listening. That's right. You've been evicted and you're going to go collect your room. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. That's enough. Thank you. Come on. All right. Come on. Come on. You got yourself arrested. Sit now. What are you? Look, I got to stop here right now because there's been prior videos and I'm starting to get it now where the arresty, right, this person who gets arrested says, "What did I do?" Always. It's like it's never ending. It happens all the time. It's like you don't even know what you're getting yourself into. I don't get that. This is a dead ass. We literally gave you the option and you turn around, put your hands behind your back or what? said, "You didn't. It didn't give me. Can I please talk to you, sir?" No, we we were trying to We were trying We were trying to talk to you and you were We were talking earlier. Get in the car. Can we please get in the car? I'll get in the car. But I need to talk to somebody and I need to call my lawyer because No, I I did nothing wrong. I got assaulted. I got assaulted here and and that's the doctor supposed to come at 10:00 to look at everything because I got assaulted. Get your feet in, please. Oh my god. Dumb, dumb, dumb. They went to the room. Okay, dude. That was funny. We literally All we were doing was going to trespass her and she's like, "Take me to jail." I'm like, "Okay, you have the option." Well, I'm not here to put up with a bunch of crap from you guys. Did I yell at you? I didn't say yell at me. I said put up with a bunch of crap. You guys had the choice earlier to just behave, but you chose to act like fools. Now, let's go. You don't know what I did? Well, you've been a victim. So, you're collecting your stuff and you're leaving the property. I I I got you. Woke up. Then then we don't need to talk anymore, right? You just need to get your stuff as quickly as you can and get out of here. We have a female officer that can be a PD for two dogs 10 pounds each. Does the hotel know you have these dogs? Absolutely, sir. Absolutely. Put these dogs in cages. For starters, put them in a cage or somewhere where they're not running all over the place. I don't I don't have a case for them, but I'll put them in the back. Okay. Then do this. Put them on a leash and tie the leash to something where they're not running all over the place. Do one at a time. Feather 911 call. They were on the phone and disconnected on call back. Looks like Did you give the officer your identification last time he was in contact with you? Negative, sir. What's that? The officer was never in contact with me at all. Well, he was standing at your table talking to you and that lady. I watched him do it, so don't argue with me. Let me have your identification. Let's just make it simple. Give me your ID. It's your crime I committed. You're being evicted from a hotel. You're not going You're going to be trespassed and you're not if you come back on here. Copy that. Okay. Let me see your identification. Sure thing. You can have your identification card here back. Why do you keep talking weird like that? It's not weird. Most people don't say copy or I I in the military, man. Okay. In the state of Florida, any business or property has the right to trespass anybody for any reason. you all you needed to do. All you needed to do was go back to your room and instead you chose to sit down there and yell at us. I'm getting right now because I got assaulted at this point and y'all are going to see it because assaulted me and now a lady did what? Assaulted me. What was about what? What about the money? Yeah, nothing about money. That was a salted driver at the bar. The tender sto and I was getting my food and I went to the bar and I took another drink and I was going upstairs with my boyfriend. I thought that wasn't your boyfriend. Yeah, he's my best friend. He was friends with a boy. It's okay. I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't want anybody. That's why y'all got to be supposed to be there at 10 o'clock to go over your freaking camera show that I got and now I'm getting arrested. Yes. [ __ ] dude. You going to be here for my That's fine. Do you realize a woman hit you with her hat and you're acting like this? Do you realize that no one should be hit at all or do you do that to your wife? No, I don't have a wife. So, I wonder why. I'm actually very respectful to my women. So, yeah. Well, that person was not respectful to me. And if you were respectful to women, then you would understand that when someone hits someone else, that's not okay. It's also not okay to act like a fool in public when you're drunk. Please, if you can tell me anything I did. Listen to how you're acting. It's called public. I'm right. Tell me what I did wrong. You can't You can't tell me one thing I did wrong. Look at the way you're acting. That's what you did wrong. Okay. All right. Well, we'll we'll talk about that in court. Okay. You going to come all the way back down to Florida for it? [ __ ] I live in Florida. Why do you have a Connecticut license then? Because I'm military. How long have you lived in Florida? Uh, yeah. All right. Well, that's a crime. Okay. So, get me. You are you aware of that? That's also a crime. I'm not aware of that because my husband is the one who is active duty. So you're not military. No, I am dependent on military. So you're a liar. I can have my license wherever I want. So you're a liar. No, I'm not a liar. You told me you were military. That's stolen valid. No, it's not stolen valid. Are you prior military? I'm a dependent. Are you prior know how that works? Have you ever been in the military? How that works? Have you ever been in the military? No, I've been a military wife harder than you would ever even imagine. I bet it is. It is. Okay. I can't believe you just anniversary. I do not Your anniversary with who? With the guy that I was with my So, is he your boyfriend or not? So, your husband Hold up. So, your Let me guess. Your husband is military and then this is your boy toy, right? My husband's gay. [laughter] Dang. I I still don't know. So, you're celebrating your oney year anniversary. Is that your boy toy? You know what? This is We're all over the place here. A little confusing, right? Yeah. I was going to make you feel happy about yourself. You're just I would just stop talking if I was you. You're funny. I have so you have what? What do you have PTSD from? Is that from being a military? Is that from being a military wife? Why would you ask me that? Because you've been very dishonest about everything so far. Honestly about everything. What the [ __ ] You what? My mom tried to kill me. Everybody else said to kill me. Stop. Give me a gun. Give you a gun. And what? You see that man right there? Mhm. Good with a gun, huh? Yeah. Look, if you see me laughing and chuckling, I I I apologize, but I got to tell you, humor is the best emotion to have as a police officer. And you know what? I I got to be honest. I kind of miss those conversations cuz when you're drunk as a skunk, I should say. And I don't know if she's drunk as a skunk, but she's definitely definitely impaired, right? you come up with all these weird like strange bizarre awkward things to say and you're just like you can't help but to laugh, right? I know you you can probably see from his body warn video, but I I know for a fact that he's either smiling, chuckling or something along those lines to cope, you know, with all the trauma that we experience in our career. Crazy public insight pretty much drunk and disorderly. I'm not done. problem. Can you spread your feet for me, please? Yeah. Okay. So, then I'll I'll move my car for you. Yo, wait until 10:00 to come back. All right. Come on. H. There you go. Why are you Why are you like trying to get all hood on me, bro? You like changing me? Hey, listen. I'm telling you right now, they were kind Hold on. They were kind enough to bring your vehicle up here. You're not going to drive it. I know. Yeah. So, you're going to have to pay one of these guys to drive you somewhere where you can stay or sleep this off. until you're sober enough to drive. If I catch you driving, you're going straight to jail with a DUI. And I don't know how that affects your military career, but that's what's going to happen. I believe it. So, we'll leave the keys in the car in the in the gas tank. Okay. So that he doesn't have to come back on property. And then Sounds good. And then I'll bring him. I'll tell you what. I'll just wait for you. Then I'll follow you and I'll give you a ride back. Right on. Okay. Right on. That works. All right. I'll wait. Yeah, join me. Join me. It's only a show because there's cameras all in this [ __ ] God, you're an idiot. Okay, double lock bars. [snorts] Yeah. Um, and I'm requesting a drug test by my lawyer for this guy. Stand up. That's fine. I'll do one. I don't care. Am I supposed to stand up, you idiot? I will do a drug test any day of the week. Get in there. Get in there. Get in there. Get up. I can't get up. Oh my god. Are you serious? I can't get up. I'm trying. Get in there. I'm I'm being abused. Get in there. This is abuse. Get in the car. This is a goddamn car. This is a goddamn abuse. This is a goddamn abuse. You know who it is. Get in the car. You know this is in the car. You're doing this to yourself. You're doing this yourself. Ow. Help. Jesus. Okay, let's go ahead and wrap this up. Uh, like always, first and foremost, big shout out to Daytona Beach Shores PD department. Man, look, you guys, from the beginning, good investigation. You know what? I'm going to side with Brandy a little bit about the fact that, you know what, the other uh party did commit a battery. You know, she is a suspect. Could have arrested her, gone through the whole book and release procedure, get bonded, and the whole nine, and you would have been done, right? But we don't know if Brandy would have reacted the way she did because after we left, right, came to a solution. You know what? She doubled down and made it even worse.
