Then I'm going to talk to you. Before I talk to you, before I ask any questions, I'm just going to remind you of your rights, okay? Right now, you are under arrest for shoplifting. But other investigations or any questioning, we'll just remind you of your rights. You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand your rights? >> I do. >> Do you want to talk to me? >> Sure. >> Any yes or no? Yeah. Okay. Everywhere you go there's cameras, right? >> Yeah. >> They can see exactly what you're doing. Not only that, but they recognize you that you're This is not your first time. >> Okay. >> Right? You can wear your sunglasses, your mask. That makes you stand out even more. >> I don't have teeth. That's why I have to wear a mask. >> You don't have what? >> Teeth. >> Teeth? >> Yeah. I had them removed, so. >> Uh okay. Well, regardless of the reason, >> Yeah. >> okay. Uh and here you are. And now we're here. Can you tell me what happened in there? >> We were being done. >> Okay. What do you mean by that? >> Taking stuff. >> Taking stuff. Now, that stuff that you were taking, what do you do with it? >> I use it. >> Use it? >> Yeah. >> How? >> For my kids, my house. >> Okay. I'm just asking a lot of people come boost stuff and they go sell it. Is that your situation? >> No? No? And where do you live? >> I live in Bernalillo with my daughter. >> Again, you've been shoplifting with repeat shoplifters. This is not the only time they recognize you and they've had incidents with you. Now, I'm going to ask you about another incident. I'm probably You probably saw yourself on TV or something. March 19th, a few months ago, at the Dollar General, you're wearing exactly the same glasses. You're wearing exactly the COVID mask coverings or whatever. Nowadays, people use it only to cover their faces to cover their criminal activity. What happened? You got shoplifted from that Dollar General. The the I spoke to the manager. I saw a video. >> Um I don't even remember. >> You don't remember cuz the employees definitely remember what you did. >> And what you told them. >> What did I say? >> Okay. You don't remember pulling a gun on on them. >> No. >> Okay. Yeah, you're not going to remember. Well, was that your sister? Cuz you guys getting the same charge. You're going to get charged with the same crime even though she didn't pull the gun, she's getting charged with the same crime unless she's the one that did it and you didn't. >> I don't I don't think we pulled the gun on anybody ever. >> Okay, you you would know. You would know. Now, your sister I'll talk to her in just a second. I'll ask her questions. So, I'll leave it at that. So, I'm just giving you the opportunity. All right, I'm just giving you the opportunity come clean and tell me your side of the story cuz right now only have the side of the store >> Yeah. >> the store manager. All right? >> Yeah. I I remember we got she my sister did take some chips. >> Yeah, and actually that's that's exactly what they told me. >> Yeah, and then she yelled at the lady behind the counter. She went behind the counter. And uh And some guy came out running after us and calling us saying he was messed up and >> So, you didn't tell me that. And that's why I want to document your side of the story. [snorts] You understand? So, she takes chips behind the counter. >> Yeah. Cuz we went >> A guy comes out which is the employee. >> And we tried to pay for them and then she grabbed them from us and she was like, "No, you guys got to get out of here." >> Mhm. >> And then yeah, so we left and uh the guy came out running after us and he was messed up. We're done this is this is and but no gun was pulled because we don't have firearms. >> Okay. Did you tell him, "This is not worth your life?" >> No. >> Okay. >> No, but I said that he I said he's cuz why is he yelling at some girls >> Mhm. >> acting crazy. >> So, he calls you broke >> Yeah. >> you up. >> Yeah. >> No gun was pulled. >> No. >> How about did he pull a knife on you or anything else on you? >> No, I didn't see anything that he had. No. >> Now, afterwards when you guys when he Something happened that he just backed up. Now, why is that? >> Cuz I told him that I would have my boyfriend And I said that he's that he is because he's yelling at some girls. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, he was like, "What people start fights?" I told him fights like, it's so stupid. And he was like, "You're right, you're right." Like, I just He was like, "I just was protecting the manager, whatever." I was like, "I understand, it's your job, whatever." >> so once you tell my boyfriend to get you up, it's just chips, that's when he agrees and >> "Yeah, it is, whatever." He was like, >> Did you talk to him? >> like >> Did you talk to him about What else did he say after you you tell him that? What else was >> And he He just said it's stupid and >> Okay. >> Yeah, it's not a big deal. >> Okay, again, I already knew your name, but you know, we These guys know who you are. Maybe not by name, but they they you definitely remember you doing this stuff. And that's exactly why they call us. And once we come out here and we see you, we're like, "Oh, I know where this person I've seen this person before." You and your sister. >> Okay. >> Okay. Do you have any tattoos on your face? >> Yeah. >> I'm going to look at your face, okay? >> Go ahead. >> How about your You want to put them down or >> You can put them on. Yeah, right there is good. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> Any tattoos? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right, I'm going to go talk to your sister. >> Okay. >> I'll ask the same stuff about him. Uh and I'll talk to you guys in just a second. We'll let you know what's going to happen. >> Sounds good. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> How did you get here today? >> My daughter's car. >> Your daughter's car, which is which one? >> The black one right here. >> Yeah, I see it. Okay. >> All right, guys. >> Okay. Before I ask you any questions, um Detective Bibaud, before I ask you any questions, I'm just going to remind you of your rights, all right? >> All right. >> Do you understand your rights? >> I do. >> Now, would you like to talk to me? >> Yeah, I'll talk to you. >> All right. >> First off, I just want to apologize. >> Apologize for >> for doing this. You know what I'm saying? >> Okay, and that's what I was I was going to say, anywhere you go is what cameras, right? >> Yeah. >> Anywhere. >> Yeah. >> Anywhere you go there's cameras. >> Yeah. >> All right, so when they not only that you a lot of people shoplift every day then they get away with it. They come back and like kid, we know this person. We know these girls. Hey police, these girls are here again and they're repeat shoplifters. >> Right. >> Okay, so and now here we are. Can you tell me what happened in there? >> Uh we needed to get some stuff for her kids, my kids and >> You're Miss April? >> Yes. >> Okay, ma'am. Again, what happened in there? >> Uh okay, so we went in our intentions were to go in and get some Pampers for her kids and um some other stuff and I wanted to pay for it. I can't afford it. I mean I thought my welfare check was going to come in sooner. It didn't. And so we decided to put it in her uh stroller. >> Mhm. So couldn't afford it. Decided to put it in the store. >> Yeah. I mean like I was telling Miss Garcia here that you know we tried asking for help and resources and nobody wants to help us. >> Yeah, well you know to that uh everybody's had hard times, I've had them but uh and I just don't see the the justification of doing not only that but over and over. That's >> I I agree. I know it's pathetic and it's it's stupid and yeah I would definitely say it'll be the last time I'll ever do this stupid thing again. >> Okay, so here's the thing. All the other stores once we put your name out there, your photo out there, they're like, yeah she hit us over here. Yeah, she hit us over here. Uh you know the they're not new, they're just 2 years old the the shoplifting statutes. Once you reach a certain amount, that's organized retail crime. That's second degree felony. >> Wow. >> If you still have misdemeanor in Farmington, misdemeanor in Las Cruces, we can combine those into a felony. >> Cuz it's New Mexico, correct? >> So again, there's video everywhere, right? >> Right. >> Now here's the question. Cuz this is not your first time, right? >> I agree. >> A few months ago, March 19th, Dollar General. What happened that day? >> Oh, see that was a whole different situation right there. >> I know. >> We went We went to pay for our chips. And then >> serious crime that's being investigated. >> Right. And she She acted crazy. She didn't want to let me pay for the chips. I put money down and she took my money but didn't let me keep my chips. So, I went to grab my chips. We went out there. >> money? >> Yeah, I put down the >> that information I didn't have. So, that's why I'm trying to get the What's that? >> I went in there to buy all those chips cuz those are my favorite chips. And you mean that we didn't go in there and we didn't try to steal anything and we didn't >> didn't steal You didn't conceal anything inside your purse? >> No, I didn't. I didn't conceal anything inside my purse. I swear on my kids I did not. >> Again, videos. >> Videos I don't have. I promise you. >> There's videos. So, when you say that it's >> Yeah, no I bought I grabbed all the chips and I took them to the counter. >> Did your sister conceal it inside the purse? Who was it? >> Conceal what? The weapon? >> Uh >> It was my sister. >> The weapon? >> Yeah, that was >> Yeah, and that's what I was starting from forward backwards, right? Uh So, you guys The information I have is you guys concealed stuff inside your purse. You go at the front. Uh manager, you guys have uh some type of discussion. You go in the back and grab stuff, right? >> Right. I got the chips. >> Okay. So, once Once you guys go outside, what happened? >> So, we go out there and the guy comes out and he's like, "You F'ing B's and you guys are worthless pieces >> See, I spoke to him and he didn't He didn't tell me he spoke to you that way. >> Yeah. Oh, yeah. I'm like, "I hope there's audio because you guys can pull that and listen to it cuz he definitely did say that." He said you guys are F'ing B's, you guys are worthless pieces and So, then my sister's like, "Do not get in my face." Yeah, that's what I was like, "Yeah, so don't talk to me." I'm like, "She took my money, so I took my chips." >> Okay. >> "She has to keep my money, but I'm going to keep my chips. I'm like, point blank, period." I honestly didn't know she was going to pull out her weapon. I didn't. >> Okay. And she's in the passenger side. >> She was in the passenger side. >> Was the weapon pulled out once you were in the car or outside the car? >> Oh, I was in the car already. >> You were in the car already? >> Yeah, I was in the >> So, when you see her doing that, what what did you say? Did you say you were >> I said, "Let's get out of here." I said, "Let's go." And she didn't point it at him. She didn't tell him, "Hey, I'm going to shoot you. I'm going to kill you." She just had it like you and me by her side like you know what? I'm here to protect me. You're going to act here coming at us crazy. And then he apologized and then we apologized and we said all right, that's it. Like you and me guys don't have to act crazy. We won't act crazy. Let's just go. And we left. It didn't go any crazier than that. >> Well, a gun being pulled when during a shoplifting that's aggravated shoplifting. That's third degree felony. >> he took my money or she took my money. Not him, she did. >> Uh-huh. >> He came from the back cuz he just heard the commotion. You know what? And I honestly I didn't know she was going to pull the weapon. I didn't know. >> Okay. Is the weapon inside the car? >> No. >> Cuz if we have any indication or anything that weapon we take that car we we will tow it and do a search warrant. >> Right. >> But I know that car was in use. It was your van or that van the her van. Is it or is it under your name? >> It's it's my van, yeah, but I no longer have it. I got rid of it. It was breaking down on me. So I traded it in for a different vehicle. >> Did you see your name on TV? >> No, I didn't. >> Or the alerts the public alerts? >> No. >> No? Well, not your name. Your photo and your and your van. >> I didn't see it at all. >> What what was it on? >> It's public announcements. Incidents happened and like hey, this this happened and again, it's an ongoing investigation. So I already knew you guys' names cuz I already saw your van. I Well, at the time it didn't have it only had a uh temp tag. Now it has a chili plate, right? All right. So where's that? I had guys had your I had your names. So if you say you got rid of it, it's not going to be in that apartment that uh building 23. Okay, again, people that >> I I I stayed at a hotel. I'm also I I don't know if >> Well, when people tell me this person is seen right there I go over there and your van's there. Again, I need you to be honest with me cuz people who gave me your names probably people that you are close to. Cuz they were detailed and it it does pan out. But again, uh we just get information more stuff and not only that when they when when they say hey, these girls are here, we're like, wait a minute. These girls we know who they are. So, we came over here. All right. So, enough of that. Anything else you want to add on on Now, what kind of gun was it to see if it matches the employee's statement? I can't see him. I can't [ __ ] Is he hanging around just looking around? Interested? Huh. Maybe she knows him then. >> Does he work here? >> Okay. Okay, ma'am. As far as today, you are going to be booked on the shoplifting. Yes, both of you. As far as the incident, we're still verifying information. I'm going to go back to the talk to the manager and the employee cuz he didn't they didn't tell me all that stuff, right? So, I'm going to verify with them. It's an ongoing investigation. Then it's going to be presented to the judge. The judge will be will decide whether, hey, we need we need her back. All right. Okay. Yeah. Uh Okay. Well, if you're If it wasn't you, then who was it? >> It was my sister. >> Okay. Yeah, and I did talk to her and she and she and she know and she did tell me exactly what you told me as far as the chips going back, the guy coming out, screaming at you, calling you guys all that stuff and you guys uh have an altercation, well, mainly her. Okay. So, right now, because of the incident, it is a felony level. You guys are working together. You guys have that plan. You guys are going to be booked on the shoplifting. As far as everything else, again, I'm still we barely got the case. We're still verifying information everything anything we do has to go through district attorney's office and judges, right? >> And like I have to go home to my kids. >> How old are your kids? >> 12 and 13. >> Okay. They're Are they in school? >> Yes. >> Okay, who's going to pick them up? Bus? >> I don't know. The buses They're going to go home by themselves. >> Okay. And who's at home that can take care of them? >> Nobody. Nobody's there. My husband has to be at work. >> Uh-huh. And where is home so I can >> In Town Suites. >> In Town Suites. You live in a hotel. How was that? >> It's a hotel. >> How do you pay for a hotel cuz it's more expensive to pay for a hotel than than rent? >> My husband works. >> Yeah. >> And it's cheaper. I promise you. It's only $1,000 a month. >> Is it? Well, that is >> has stoves and stuff. >> It has a whole kitchen in it. >> Oh, actually it is cheaper. >> everything. Yes. >> Never mind. I guess it depends on the hotel, huh? >> And it has she has stoves to cook. >> Yeah. Now, I've been in those uh extended stays, but man, I'm like >> out of town for work. I I don't know what to do. Like I'm really freaking out, man. >> Now, do you have any family members that >> Is there anybody but her? >> Okay. >> That's all I talked to with her. >> Hey, what's up, man? >> Oh my god, I'm freaking out. I can't breathe. I'm going to hyperventilate. >> Relax. I don't know what they're going to do, but you know there's been bond reforms so they've been releasing people. Once you get booked, I'm not promising anything. Okay. I'm going to go speak to my supervisor. I'll be right back. >> Thank you. >> Very easy to see. This is green. This is red. Combined, they're over 500. Still over 500 for sure on one. Hello. >> Hello. >> I'm still recording. >> Okay. >> Again, can you just tell me what happened in there? uh we got the alert and we responded to shoplifting. Okay. >> Um so, I had recognized them as follow subjects from a post we had seen. Um they're also repeat subjects for us. They were observed entering the store earlier today. They made various selections of cosmetics, infants, groceries, toys. Um they were also concealing the items in the stroller. Um they then made their way to the front of the store. They skip scanned. They only scanned four grocery items, skip scanned the rest. Um some were on the bottom of the cart. The majority were concealed in the stroller. They then under paid with four items. They exited with the items still concealed and under the basket. They were not before. >> The stroller, right? >> Yes. >> How about in the basket, too? So, both? >> Yeah, so both. So, they each um the one in the red had the stroller as she exited and then the one in the green had the cart. >> Yep. Looks like you guys are probably going to both be going. Is there anybody that can if we let you if we let them take the car, is there somebody who can come pick it up along with the stuff you paid for we can put in the car with them? >> Yeah, my daughter. >> Okay, cool. Once it gets closer to figuring out if you're going or not, we'll get that number, okay? >> Is there a way to get out of the trespassing charge? >> Um can I get asked? >> Okay. >> Uh we've done that before cuz it's the it's one company. >> Yeah. >> Just cuz it has multiple branches, it's still the same company. >> Right. >> We will advise them that they've been trespassed from all Targets. Then the criminal trespass notification, I'm going to put down all Targets. >> Perfect. >> Okay? All right. Yeah, and you as a as an agent of the Target yeah, you're that's what you're requesting and what drawing their consent to come in, we'll do that. >> Perfect. Thank you. >> Both sisters were charged with fourth-degree felony shoplifting, conspiracy to commit shoplifting, and formally trespassed from all Target locations.
