These girls learned the hard way while you don't mess with cops. Is there something in the car that we should know about? Whose weed you got in your bag? No. Cops pull over two teen girls for a routine traffic stop. But things quickly escalate when officers uncover eight hidden stash of drugs and alcohol in their car. Take a look. M deputy fire county sheriff's office. The reason being stopped is that US1 Belter, you bypass the stop bar. You have your license registration insurance with you? Where you coming from? I was coming from her house and I was going to my brother Gage's house up there on California. On on what? [snorts] This is your car or not? This is my grandfather's car. Okay. Passenger, do you have an ID? No, mine's at home. It's at home. Yeah. How old are you? I'm 17. 17. Would you mind opening the window over there? Yeah. I'm pulling forward. Is there a reason you're uh shaking a little bit? You're just nervous for any particular reason? No, I just don't understand why I was being like followed. I didn't really do anything wrong. You didn't do anything wrong. Vehicles associated with narcotics? No. No. Was he not arrested and stopped in this vehicle last time with felony narcotics on him? I have no idea. This is my grandfather's truck. Okay. Do you have a registration? Well, that's not a reason to pull me over because No, I pulled you over because of the stop bar. I recorded it. I understand. I'm sorry about that. I don't know what has to do with Okay. Well, your vehicle's associated with felony narcotics, so it's going to be investigated. This one is expired, so you could pass this one. I just stay at her house. I just stay with her. Yeah, she lives over there. All right. What do you do for work? I'm a waitress. All I work at home and I do that. Oh, nice. Okay. Still in school? Senior? Yeah, how old are you? There you go. You're 17. How old are you? 18. 19. Any weapons in the car or anything like that? Any knives, guns, bombs, grenades? get. Okay, let's stop right here and kind of talk about a little bit about the vehicle being associated with felony narcotics that allows the K9, right? And uh a couple of things. Uh in prior videos, I went into a lengthy discussion, not lengthy, but to talk about the K9 sniff, right? And just as a reminder, uh there is two Supreme Court cases. Uh the first one was Cabay uh from 2005 and the Supreme Court said a properly conducted K-9 sniff around the outside of the vehicle during a lawful traffic stop is not a search. All right. Then in Rodriguez, the other Supreme Court in 2015, the courts made it clear that you cannot extend or prolong that stop just to wait for the dog to show up. Dog's already there. You got reasonable suspicion to believe that that vehicle is associated with narcotics. Let's go ahead and do that K9 snip. Now, if there is an alert, a hit, then now you have PC probable cause to search the vehicle. All right, Brooke, step on out for me. All right, we'll handle this traffic business first. Come back here. All right, here's your insurance and registration back. Not the perm of the entry. Like I said, it's a stop bar violation. All right. So, I'm not gonna give you a stop sign. I'm sorry about that. Stop. I didn't wait too long. No, no. When you go trying to find a stop sign right here cuz I know it was when I came at the stop signs. Yeah. All the stop lights have those, too. So, you can't bypass the white bar before you make your stop. Stop before. So, you have to stop before it. And then if you need to see, you can roll forward. All right. cuz I got stopped before and they told me I have to wait like a certain amount of time if I got there's no specific time as long as you stopped before the bar at this point or your vehicle's going to be searched. All right, the K9 alerted to the presence or odor of narcotics or whatever he's trained for. All right, so here's your opportunity to tell me about anything in the vehicle that we might or might not find. There's nothing that I know on my person's on this. Okay. Is there anything on your person when I have a female deputy show up and do a search? No. All right. Cuz I try and give everybody 100% honesty upfront right now. This is your time trying to be square with me and I'll be completely fair with you like I have with your ticket. But if I have to do the work and I have to find hidden stuff or find things hidden on people's bodies, I it's all games over at that point. I have nothing on my body. I have nothing in my purse. None of that. Nothing in the vehicle. The only thing I have in my purse is like a razor knife, but that's it. Okay. So, okay. Get ready to push that BS button because I'm going to tell you right now, they're not telling the truth. Been there and done that. I've seen this movie. Okay. She did what? She didn't stop at a stop sign or something. No stop bar. So at the stop light there's not there's a white line prior to this. So if you pass through that, that's a traffic infraction. You have to stop before yellow. Okay. Even when whether when it's green, obviously go through. Yeah. Yellow, red, immediately stop. Okay. Okay. But yellow, you know, if you're already in in the lane and you're going, still yellow, it's fine all day. But when it's solid red, you have to stop before the stop bar, right? Like a stop sign. Okay. So that way you can make sure that you're clear from other cars and not have a green light. Yeah. No, it's not like crack cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, ecstasy, fentanyl, pills of any type? No. Firearms, anything like that? Have you ever been arrested for? Yes. What have you been arrested for? In Chicago for battery. Battery? Nothing narcotic related? No. Okay. You want to take your selfie and hang out back here with them? You can take your phone and whatnot now. We have probably search the vehicle. All right. And anything there and looking, etc., etc., etc. This is your opportunity to tell me if there's anything in the vehicle I'm going to find or not find or anything like that. Also, if there's anything on your person before I have a female deputy come up and search you, this is your opportunity to tell me about it. If I have to find it myself or another deputy has to show up and search you to find whatever it may or may not be, then I'm not going to work with you anymore. Oh, is there something in the car that we should know about? Yeah, but I was asking because I Okay, so your mom doesn't have to be here. Um, if you'd like her to come, you can call her and tell her to come down. That's the one thing. However, if there's nothing here and you know, we search the car, there's nothing. Call that. Yeah, but I was asking because I Okay, so your mom doesn't have to be here. Um, if you would like her to come, you can call her and tell her to come down. That's all. Okay, so you tell me. You know, do moms need to be coming to this scene of this traffic stop? Are you showing up? Is my case, right? If you're a mom, are you showing up? It's been my experience that if moms show up, it's probably not going to help at all. They're going to scold you. They're going to tell you that, you know, yeah, go ahead and arrest her. You know, you're going to learn your lessons. Something along those lines. She's probably not going to be your biggest fan or be on your side to say that no, my daughter didn't do anything. I don't know. You tell me what's been your experience. However, if there's nothing here and you know, we search the car, there's nothing. Call that. So, So, I see you have a vape in. Am I going to find a vape cartridge? No. I apologize. You're low volume. Add a case number for a take on what you had for signal 31 for the case, please. Can you positive there's nothing on the car? You seem like very you said defeated. Saying that I just I hate being pulled over for no reason. Like there's nothing in the car that I know of. There's nothing that I know. Y'all have my perks. I'll have everything. The K9 doesn't alert to a car for any reason. I don't know. No, I've seen the K9 walk plenty of cars where nothing happens. when it hits on a car. You know, we usually find something where it hits. I don't. So, besides you driving this car, who who else drives it? My father Eric and Summer drive it. But that's So, when when was the last time Eric was in this vehicle? I have I would have to ask her because we use it on and off every other day like I don't know if he mentioned you know Eric was arrested for felony in our caucus. I didn't know. I just call my sister and she called me the rest. Okay. Cuz like I said, I don't I don't know him right there. I really don't. Is there anything in here that he may have left in the car that you don't know about or we have? I tell you all the truth. Me, I don't know. Like from what I'm understanding, I I don't know what because I don't have anything. There's nothing on my fridge. There's nothing on my side. There's nothing in the truck that I know. Okay. Who's this one? Yes. 17 with a lot of twisted teeth. Remember when I asked you earlier? I told him you asked if you want. Oh, I asked you. You didn't. You didn't ask you. I don't know. Did you? He said he had one prison tape. One case or one? No, you just said one prison tape. That's what I was shooting. Thought you didn't have your ID with you. I didn't have your ID with you. Well, I thought my wallet was at Or, hear me out. Is it because you had all your twisted TE's hidden under your feet by a jacket and you couldn't move the jacket because you thought we'd see the twisted tea? Cuz I've done that before. You're supposed to get gas from here. So, who's Bianca? She's like a sister to me. He's exactly 21 years old. Very weird. You know, it's a crime to be in possession of somebody else's driver's license. She left it at my house, so I'm was going to give it back to her. Or there's a striking resemblance between you and her, and you use this ID to buy alcohol. No, I'm going to go with that. Good theory on behalf of the deputy. But check this out. We just turned a minor traffic violation into a full-blown criminal investigation that involves minors. I can't. Okay. I can't help people that don't want to touch you. [sighs] Then they sit here and say I did nothing for them. I have her ID because she was at my house. I didn't ask her. And I'll go ahead and do traffic. Another ID. My permit. You have your alcohol ID. And then you have your ID. Is there going to be marijuana I can smell? Well, I mean in general. I'm not being I appreciate it, sir. Oh, what was it that you needed added? We got rolling papers up in front. My gosh, you need a bigger bag. Yeah, I've had four. I've got snow caps. Medical marijuana. Remember how I just said, "Is there going to be marijuana that I can smell?" This first? Yes. But that's not It's not your marijuana, not your alcohol, not your ID. cat thing. You don't mind? Not you. I don't smoke. Me either. And I'm not a cop. Come on. You could text me if you wanted to. I don't I just want you to be truthful for once. Really? You know, I'd like to add that this is a display of pure loyalty with your friends, right? How old were you again? 19. I don't smoke. I just carry lighters for the bonfire. I don't light. For a lighter. Well, what are you smoking? I do not smoke. I don't smoke. I just carry my marijuana with my rolling papers and my lighter in my purse. That's not for me. Where's your mom at? cuz it's very likely you're going to catch criminal charges. So, you might want to call her. Whose weed you got in your bag? Huh? Whose weed do you have in your bag? There's no weed in there. Ah. Got another crime of the century. Courtney, come with me. Back side view on the passenger side. Shred. As you're well aware at this point, this is a criminal investigation and you're not free to go. Okay. Um, with that being said, you do have the right to remain silent. Anything you say against you in the court of law, you have the right to have an attorney present during, before, after any question. If you cannot a do that. Need a verbal yes or no. Do you want to tell me what's going on tonight? I was told my mom, but I do not smoke weed. I do not smoke weed. And Bianca is like a sister to me. I used to work with her. She stayed the night with me a few nights ago. She left her wallet at my house and I have her ID. Okay. I was supposed to see her tomorrow and give it back to her as soon as I got off work. Okay. Do you see why I have struggle a little bit of a struggle believing you about smoking marijuana when you have a causation? Yes, I understand that. with rolling papers and ladders. So if it's not your marijuana, whose is it? You don't know. But it ended up in your purse. Did Courtney provide it to you? Did Courtney give it to you to hide? This is This I cannot stress enough. This is the time to be honest about what's going on. No one here to hide, but I I do not regret. It's not I do not smoke. So, how did marijuana rolling papers and ladders end up in your purse? I have no idea, but I do not look like a man. This isn't my first time doing this. I've done this many years, thousands of people a year. I know why you have the ID. I don't even I can't. You what? They tell me I look like I'm 12. You do look like you're 12, but you also look like Bianca who's 21. Am I an interest? Who is it? Yeah. Hello. So, this is the time where when I call Bianca, she's going to tell me the truth or not because she doesn't want to get in trouble for you. Yes, it is. Show me lovely. I'm sorry. Sean is lovely. You better tell the truth as it is. I don't know. That's not mine. Who was in the car? Are you Courtney? Who? Courtney. She's in my car right now. Yes. So, in her purse was this jar of marijuana, these rolling papers, and these lighters. I know who this is. If you don't want to tell him, I'll tell him. No, this is Brook's. This is Brooks. You will smoke. Stop being defending your friends. This is how you go down with your friends. How do you know it's Brooke? Because I I I seen that in her first before. This is not my kid don't smoke. You can test her she does not smoke. Hey, I was just kind of wondering why don't you just throw Brooke under the bus, right? She's not at scene. But hey, that loyalty, right? Thick thieves. Okay. She also had these 1, two, three, four, five, six. Okay, I believe. Yeah, they could be on that. I believe that's I know that's not permethazine. She is on her permethine. This one is uh prescribed to Trey Curn. Oh, that's her ex-boyfriend. Yeah. Okay. Technically, she's not allowed to possess it. Even if she might be prescribed, Right. Right. Right. I know. And that's what I keep telling you. You have to keep your own stuff in your own bottle. He gave it to me last time. He went to the doctor. I know, but that is some that's someone else's name on her own. You can't carry someone else's stuff in your purse. Do you work normal hours like 9 to5 type stuff? I work uh I switch to morning shift now. Okay. Are you home every night? Yes. When was the last time Bianca stayed at your house? Who? Bianca. Why do you She said she stayed at your house a couple nights ago. I'm not lying. And that would be why she has a 21-year-old ID with her. That's getting cut up. Thank you. It's being confiscated. It's actually a criminal offense to be in possession of somebody else's ID. Yep. I agree. It's criminal offense to be in possession of alcohol. Marijuana. I got punishment. Listen, I'm not trying to harp you cuz be honest with you, this isn't the prime of the century. This isn't really what I want to waste my night or these find up these nights with. Okay, we just kind of stumbled into it and now we're stuck with it. All right, I'm not going to say I wasn't 17 or in college at 18 drinking. I don't know anybody that hasn't been unless you went to a Christian college and I feel like they drink the most, right? Oh, you lying mother talk. This isn't the crime of the century. Oh, well, what we're trying to stress to you is this is where it begins and then you get in trouble and you lose your license and then you get caught driving on a suspended license and you get in more trouble and then you make more dumb decisions like next time I don't want to get in trouble so I'm going to run from the cops. It's just a spiral downhill. Okay. And with Eric Hayes in this vehicle, he's no stranger to being arrested for felony narcotics. Eric Hayes, who's that? He's not here tonight. He was the last person that was stopped in this vehicle when he was arrested for felony narcotics. Okay. Okay. It's Brooke. Oh, Brooke. I'm sorry. Where did I get Courtney from? Is that your sister? Well, my sister's some of the one who y'all keep bringing up Eric. Where do I Why do I think you're Courtney? Is your middle name? I don't know where I got that from. I'm sorry. I didn't know all that was in her purse, though. I knew the TE's were in there, but I didn't know about the IDs and stuff. So, the fingerprints on the container aren't going to be yours because I have people here. That's fine. That's fine. In your purse. I do smoke weed, but that's not mine. But yes, I do. But yeah, you can fingerprint me. That's fine. My fingerprints are already in the system. So, your daughter is a is an adult. Yes. All right. She's made adult decisions tonight. All right. Decisions. Like what happened? I'm not going to talk to you about her case. Okay. So, with her adult decisions, I don't have to disclose anything to you. Okay. Okay. Do you have any questions for me other outside the whole time? I want to know why Eric Hayes was brought up. It's my my dad drives. Are you familiar with Eric Hayes? I am. Okay. What was he just arrested for? Um he got pulled over and I don't know. Arrested for not driving us driving and and what? Trafficking fentanyl. What? Pulled over for I was on the phone. What was he arrested for? They said that he was arrested for narcotics and we're saying all that to What I'm asking is this isn't my father's truck. My daughter just borrowed it to drive it. You want to know why your car got pulled over and sniffed by a dog? That's why. Cuz your boyfriend with his felony drugs is in this vehicle. So you profiled my father's vehicle. It's not profiling. I can profile a vehicle, by the way. It's not a protected class. All right, you guys are good to go. Let me touch on that comment about uh profiling. Okay, let's let's get one thing clear. Back in our days, we used to call it OBS work, observation work. They call that proactive enforcement. There's nothing about this that is profiling whatsoever. The fact of the matter is that you ran this uh light bar. It's a minor traffic violation. We ask for the necessary paperwork, right? Registration, insurance, and your driver's license, hoping that everything is valid and good to go. And next thing you know, this is what we end up with. Has nothing to do with profiling. So, you want to jail? I don't have to discuss her case with you. Veronica. Yeah. Bianca, what's she going to tell me? She stayed in my house a few weeks ago. Okay. She gave you permission to have her ID. No, she did not give me permission. Okay. Tell the truth. You just took the ID. Yes. Okay. But why? Because it's 21 and it looks like you. Okay. You know, you can't keep this in, right? Obviously either way you can't keep it. But I don't think like Deputy Town here is explaining these are these life decisions. Okay. I'm not going to say I didn't use a fake ID in college. That's a bunch of BS. I did. Some people take the risks. I by the grace of God didn't get caught. But it's not like I said the crime of this country. It's these little guidances in life though. Okay. Totally agree. very good u lecture explanation to the young teenager here which is the reason why I would say that it's not a waste of time whatsoever man can you imagine if in the middle of all this you get a call of a robbery in progress or you know shooting in progress or officer needs help officer needs help call and you got to take off you do so just know that it's not a waste of time whatsoever that something dumb like this that somebody could be having a bad day saying you know what screw it you can go to jail for all this change the course of your in a whole different direction. About to go to nursing school now. We're going to do background checks. All right. And then it's going to cost her money because she's going to have to take off work to take you to court in I believe they do it in Daytona still. Yep. Yes. What? Yes. Because it's juvenile court. We don't have juvenile court here. So, you have to go to Daytona for that. Then I don't know where you work or how much you make, but it's not cheap. So, she'd probably help you with that. I I'm really struggling here why you shouldn't go to jail. I I'm I know you're a kid. Kind of. In my eyes, you're a kid because I'm twice your age, but at the same time, you're an adult. I don't like what I do. I really don't. Well, you're in possession of alcohol as a minor. So, the way the state statute reads is unless I see it in your hand or her hand, everything in the vehicle with alcohol belongs to the driver. as state statute reads. So that's six twisted te's and two hard mics in your hand. You see what I mean? And I I don't feel like I've gotten an ounce of honesty this entire time. Tell me the truth. That's not my alcohol. So you're just going to this party? No, I wasn't going to a party. I swear I was. It's not my alcohol. So where are you guys going with all this alcohol? Going where? Where? We were just going to go to Daytona. That's it. Go to the beach. That's it. It's not my alcohol. Don't Why haven't lied to y'all the whole time and then not know she had the IEDs and the weed trade co stuff? I do not know any of that. None of it. All right. So, what's the deal with the weed in the purse? I'm not going to charge you with it, honestly. But I just want to know the truth. You have to be honest with you. Except be honest. And I don't smoke. I don't know. I do not know. You just ended up in your purse. Yes. I don't know. She don't want to snitch on her crime. All right. At the end of the day, I'm not I can't waste everybody's time here tonight over this month. You're going to give her warnings for your your criminal offenses. I feel like mom will do whatever discipline she feels necessary and probably be adequate for this. Uh your friend who's an adult will be catching criminal charges. Okay. So, if that's who you're trying to protect, it's not going to save her. All right. The marijuana containers right here that she says that she claims is hers and knows about and the one under the seat that she knows about is also narcotic paraphernalia. So, catch that as well. So, you're not saving her? Yeah. You're just lying to me after I gave you a warning. That's really what it comes down to. Okay. So, uh, you tell me like to ask you, uh, are you okay with that warning? Are you okay with the, uh, deputy releasing this minor to her mom or do we go ahead and sight sight and release her? What do you think? Okay, you're good to go with mom. You own everything. She doesn't own anything until she's the vehicle. [laughter] No, no. [clears throat] Can they get me out tonight? Um, I don't know. [laughter] No, but I can't. [laughter] Are you going to jail? Yes, I'm going to jail again. kids for [gasps] contributing to a minor and cuz I had a container in the back seat. [gasps and laughter] Summer, get my stuff. It's not my weed in her purse. Bro, I'm so over this. This is up. It's not in my purse, dude. That's not fair. Why did Sophia switch her story after she everything she told me on the phone? I don't know. Cuz of them. Because they scared. I don't care. She's lying and I'm over this dude. It's always backfiring me and it's in her purse. How the is it mine? Oh, [laughter] I don't have my phone to send you money. I can't do [ __ ] You will not give me my phone because I can't until I get to the thing. So, but I need you to get my stuff from Sophia's house. And I don't think this is [ __ ] cuz there's a pack of TE's in her room. There's literally a pack of teas in her room that her mom bought her. Her mom bought those tees for her in her room. over this [ __ ] dude. Okay, let's go ahead and wrap this case up and uh some final thoughts like always. Uh first and foremost, big shout out to Flaggler County Sheriff's Office. You know, these deputies, great investigation, life lessons, right? The lecturers were spoton. Mom showed up at scene, gave some really good advice. And I want to touch on something that he said as, you know, lessons learned, right? Is when he said that, uh it's not the crime of the century, and I don't want to waste my time. Uh what I will say is yes it might not be the crime of the century but it is very very important uh to prevent these particular type of minor misdemeanor crimes if you will right maybe some may turn out to be felonies and that's the whole point that if you get some growth out of this then perhaps in the future you know we won't be doing traffic stops or see you again and committing other criminal acts. Uh it reminds me of the um broken windows theory of uh Chief William Bratton where he talks about quality of life issues. Super important. If you see in your neighborhood these very minor type of violations, right? Whether they're ordinances, just minor statute or penal codes that affects the everyday life of the community members. Up next, I'm looking at a road rage incident that turns into a shooting. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. Oh [ __ ] We got to get him somewhere fast. We got a truck standing. Shoot. Like you could see the blood squirting at him. But that's over on my second channel where I'll be covering some of the most critical incidents in policing history. Brooke was charged with the following. Possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor for transporting a juvenile to consume marijuana and alcohol. There is no other public information on the outcome of the charges. Okay. Now, the 17-year-old, she was given a warning and no formal charges.
