This back to school shoplifting spree went wrong very very quick. Is this a shirt even? If I look in that bag, it's just going to be a skirt. Cost respond to reports of three women shoplifting from multiple stores. Now things escalate after officers discover nearly $2,000 in stolen goods and tinfoil used to bypass security sensors. Take a look. Stop. Stop. Stop. Come over here. Walk over here. Hey, find the third. Where? Get her, Josh. Drop your bags, please. All right. Right now, you're just being detained. We're We're conducting an investigation. Okay. Put your hands behind your back. Oh my god. Put your hands behind your back. Don't resist. Just right in front of the car. Right here. You can just hang out right here. Um, so I got to read you your rights before I talk to you at all. Um, you're you're being detained for a theft investigation. Death. Theft. Theft. No death. Nothing Nothing crazy like that. No. No. So, you have the right to remain silent. Do you understand? So, the the reason what's that? I can't I can't I can't go to jail. I never I can't. You've never been in trouble before? No, I've got a ticket for speedo in a stop sign. Yes. You never never even got like a court date, nothing like that? No. I went to court for driving without license when I first never had my license. Whose idea was it for you guys to come out here and do this? Okay. Before she answers that question, there's a first time for everything, right? And there is a free reservation to the Grayb Bar Motel if we're able to have enough evidence to prove that you were involved in this theft investigation. Right. You know, it goes without saying. I just don't get it. I I really don't. I mean, come on. If you can't afford it, then don't buy it, right? But the fact that you are going to orchestrate this, right? Kind of get together with your friend. I believe that's probably either a friend, sibling, whoever the case may be. But you decided to go out there and uh and caper is what we call it, right? Capering. Let's see what happens. Just being stupid. Back to school to get my outfit. kind of trying to get your sister an outfit. My niece. Your niece. Were you all trying to get it for your niece or just separate? I don't know. What? I was by myself. Like we were together, but I was by myself. Gotcha. Well, you you were all on video and everything taken. Is this your shirt even? No, I leave tags on all my stuff. You just leave tags on? Yes, because I like my closet to look new. I got you. Um, yeah, you guys were on video. We have witnesses saying that you guys are stealing from a bunch bunch of different stores. Uh and obviously you've got a bunch of bags here. No receipts. Is anything here paid for? Yes. What what's paid for? What's paid for? Is um H&M is paid for. H&M. Do you guys have the receipt? No, I was doing an exchange. You were doing an exchange? Yes. My stuff is on my um cuz I paid with a card. Okay. Um so you have H&M stuff that you were going to exchange? Yes. Did you did you end up exchanging it? No, they only exchanged two shirts. Two shirts for Yeah. And then they didn't have anything else for my size. What did you get? What did you get for those two shirts? Did they give you like store credit or No, they let me switch it out for the right size. You switch it out for the right size. Okay. Do you have some kind of receipt or email for that? The thing I took is a pair of um a skirt from H&M. No. From where? Um I don't know the store. That's fine. Okay. It's all right. We'll end up finding it. What about at uh New Balance? Nothing. You didn't take anything from New Balance. So, just because you weren't the one who took it out of the store doesn't mean you weren't involved in the whole I didn't take nothing from New Balance. So, you handed the other girl in the green a uh a pair of shoes or it was a um shorts or something or the leggings. New you handed it to her and she walked out with it without paying. I don't know what she did. I didn't get nothing out of New Balance. I didn't touch that. Give her nothing out of New Balance. The only thing that you took was a skirt, you said? Yes. Okay. You don't remember what store it was from? I I think it's rule 21. I'm not sure. I saw the Ruth. Ruth. Okay. Okay. Do you have a wallet? Were you intending to pay for anything? Yes. You were? Yeah. But how come you didn't pay for it? I just didn't pay for the skirt. Everything else I was doing in return. Push that BS button. I don't believe it at all. My thinking is you and partner in crime, right, decided to go there and just cap her. you decided to go and steal all this stuff. For whatever reasons, we don't know. But the fact of the matter is that yes, uh it's almost as if actually it could be a felony crime. We'll get into that a little bit later, but it can be, right? I know here in the state of California, we call that a petty theft depending on the amount. If you have priors, I think they call it a 666, a penal code, where you can charge them with a felony. It's like a wobbler, either a felony or a misdemeanor. Andor you can actually go 459, which is burglary, right? commercial burglary. Everything else you were just returning stuff. What about all the stuff in your bags here? I have one bag and a purse. Your bag was brown. Was it this? Oh, no. It's the bag there and the purse. Okay. All right. So, if I look in that bag, it's just going to be a skirt. Yes. And H&M. And then H&M stuff. Yeah. All right. Is there anything in the car? No. There's nothing in your car. Or is it your car? No, it's not my car. Which one's Whose car does it belong to? my sister. Which one is that? The one in the middle. Okay. And you were going to say something. Yeah. And I'm not um driving. I'm meeting someone at the um McDonald's. You're meeting someone at McDonald's? Yeah. Okay. But you were in their car with them. What? Both here? Yes. I'm leaving separate. You were just leaving separate? Yeah. I have to go to work. Okay. Uh never been in trouble before. Never been in trouble before. Have you Have you ever stolen before and gotten away with it? This is your first time trying to do this thing? No. Okay. Cuz I don't recognize you. Normally we have the repeat offenders who are always stealing. I've never been I've never been to jail. Okay. I've never been in a backup police car. What about your sister? Has she ever been in trouble for it? A long time ago. A while ago. Okay. All right. I'm going to sit you back down and then uh and then just talk to you guys one at a time and then hopefully your stories come straight and true and we can prove it all with video. Um but it might take another 30 minutes to an hour. Come come back. Sit over here. Just have a seat. Oh, yeah. All right. So, like I was explaining to her, because you you guys are in hand, come stand right here, Mom. Because you guys are in um handcuffs, I can't even really talk to you. They can't talk to you until we read you your rights. All right? So, I'm going to read you your rights real quick. Uh and then just let me know if you understand. You can say yes or no. All right. You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand? That's a Yes. Yes. So, I know the bags on the outside here, the purse in the one brown bag were uh the female that I just spoke to. I think that's your sister. And then this one's yours or the middle ones? This one is Okay. So, whose idea was it to come out here and do this stuff? I don't think it was I don't think it was your sister's cuz she's never been in trouble. She's I've never seen her before doing this kind of thing. I don't think I've seen you either. Um, was it your idea? Was it whose idea? Wasn't really an idea. I mean, it just happened. Just kind of happened. Like, you guys got together and decided to come take stuff without paying? No, not like that. Like, we came to the mall and just wasn't really the plan. Okay. Do you guys have money at all? Like, were you planning on paying for anything? Yeah. You were? Then how come you walked out without paying for anything? Stupid decisions. Yeah. How old are you? 34. You're 34? Okay. Do you have anything in your vehicle from like New Balance or any of these other stores? No. Um, is the New Balance stuff inside your bags? These bags here? So, so at New Balance, we have we have video and witnesses saying that you guys were stealing stuff. They saw you. Um, these two were like handing you items and you were putting it in your bag. Is that stuff here or is that stuff in the car? I think I see some New Balance stuff in there. I haven't even searched through them yet. I will be searching through them, but um I just wanted to see if you guys are telling the truth or not and trying to make up my mind on what what we're going to end up doing. So, the New Balance stuff is in the car or in here or you're just not sure? It might be in that bag. Think it might be in that one. Okay. So, when we look in these bags, there's not going to be any other from like any other merchandise from like Adidas or Under Armour or any other place other than Nike, H&M, New Balance, or Tommy. Yeah. Okay. Have you ever been in trouble for for theft or stealing? Yeah. A long time ago. A long time ago. How long? Like a year? Like seven years. Seven years. How come you didn't like learn your lesson from seven years ago? No. All right. Um, I'm gonna have you sit down and then I want to grab the other one. Okay, let me stop right there to kind of mention the fact that look, seven years has gone by since she last uh shoplifted, right? She probably hasn't got caught in those seven years. Maybe she's been doing this. It's kind of like a pattern, right? With that being said, look, Love Miranda, uh, I did say before in other videos the formula, right? Custody plus interrogation equals Miranda, right? So, they're in custody and they're being interrogated. the officers asking very accusatory type of questions. Here's another option. You know what? Wait until they actually get into the car and right as they're driving away, you know what? Jam them up and right there and then go ahead and cuff them. Then you have what we call sila, s i la, search to incident of lawful arrest, which is the wingspan. And you can go ahead and search the vehicle, right? You know, it gets you away from the crowd. You don't have to make a big scene right in the middle, you know, of the mall or the entrance of this uh shopping plaza. Uh and you know what? take them back to the station, do all your necessary paperwork, get the booking approval, all that good stuff, and then take them to the box and start asking all these questions. It's just an option. I like the uh Miranda warning right there at scene. But there's always the other option as well. Okay. Can you just help me out? I don't There's a ton of stuff in there. I don't know what is that all H&M. H&M. Everything in here is H&M. Yes. I thought you said it was just a skirt. I said this is the only thing that I touched. Well, what's all that? That's my stuff that I did. That's H&M. I know. But uh so where was this from? This is from I don't know if this room is 21 or Charlie. I don't know. It's one of those. There's no tag on it other than the security tag. Did the alarm Oh, here it was. Charlie Roose. Gotcha. Did the alarm go off when you walked out? Oh, it was a lot of people going out. Gotcha. Okay. So, this is Ruse. This is all H&M. Okay. And you were bringing it in for uh exchange? Yes. I had to change two shirts. Okay. All right. So everything in there is H&M? Yes. Do you have a receipt, email, anything saying that you exchanged it? I know you were telling me. Yes, I have an email. Is it on your phone or Yes, it's on my phone. Do you want to show me? If if you can show me that, then I'll go. This will go right back with you. Yes, I can show you. You have your phone or is it in here? It's on my phone. You know, I just got done thinking is that the bigger issue is how do we prevent from you doing this all over again? I mean, come on. It's a deeper issue. Is this something that is lacking uh in terms of decision-m because you're exercising poor judgment? We know that, right? But you tell me what is it that we can do, right? We together as a community, as law enforcement to ensure that you won't be a repeat offender. It's all the same ads. I don't know where it's at, but it has to be in my email cuz I didn't get a paper receipt and I used the car. Okay. Um you can go on H&M. You can do all that. I promise. I'm telling you. This just just the skirt. Just that one. Okay. You can go back. Have a seat. Can I talk to you one more time over here? Is this your bag? That was just there. Oh, that was yours. Okay. Um, so I know you guys went into H&M. There's a ton of H&M stuff. Uh, was it any of that paid for? You don't know? Okay. There's like security tags and no receipts or anything. Your sister was saying that she has receipts on emailed to her on our phone. She showed me her phone. We went through the emails. There's no receipts or anything. So, what we're about to do, we you guys can sit here for hours while we go through footage of H&M or you can just tell us that none of that was paid for and we can skip forward some of the hours um of watching the video footage. So, was any of that stuff paid for from H&M? Mine wasn't. Well, my hat was The hat was So, this might be easier. What What all was made for? One hat. There were a couple hats. The hat that you saw on top, the little the tan, the white colored one, cream colored one. That one's paid for. That's the only thing that was paid for from H&M. What was your like thought process? Like, if I pay for one thing, they won't know. Or like why did you pay for for that and nothing else? really have a thought process. Didn't what? This is not something I thought out. So that's I don't have to use it. Like I don't even know. Like you didn't just want to walk out with that that hat too and not pay for any of it. Just decided to pay for one. No, I don't. Okay. So in your purse you have that aluminum foil stuff. Is that to block the the sensors from from going off from it? So you have a whole bunch of aluminum foil. What boosters like shoplifterss do is have aluminum foil to block the uh sensors from alarming security. You have a whole bunch of them all uh lined up in your in your purse that you had. Um and none of the New Balance stuff is here. So it's in the car. So are we going to find anything else in the car? because I'm able to search it just based off I know you guys got in your car with stolen stuff. So, I'm going to search your car for stolen stuff. Is there anything else in there? What? No. Okay. Weed got the aluminum foil. Come on, man. New balances. This is the New Balance bag. Come back over here. All right. Now, now I know it's way more than what we initially thought. Yeah. How long have you been doing this whole theft thing? You obviously know more than what I had thought at first. This is like what do you mean? Like weeks, months, years. You have a ton of stuff here. I know you just did it today, but like have you been doing this thing for a long time? You just been getting away with it? No. Let me answer that for you. Yes, she's been getting away with it. Uh she's been doing it for the last seven years and she hasn't gotten caught. Can you come over here real quick? All right. Like I was just explaining to your sister now. I obviously know you guys are taking way more stuff than I initially thought. What you you were in You were in the front passenger seat sitting with a whole bag of has nothing to do with me and that's I don't think that's the whole a bag of stolen stuff. Okay. So, did you pay for any of it? No, I brought stuff with me when we came so I can match properly like not I told you what I took. Okay. Come over here. This stuff was sitting in your seat up there. I just want to know where what store it was from without having to Is it all American Eagle? I don't know. You have no idea. No, that's not my stuff. That's not It's sitting with you. There's aluminum foil on the I'm telling you, sir. It's not mine. What's mine? Okay. Whose is it? I don't know who pants these are. What size are they? If you want to tell me the truth, but I don't think you're telling me the truth. I am telling you the truth. I told you. Okay. What's yours? Um, none of this stuff in this bag is on. None of this stuff in this bag that was sitting on your seat is not yours. No. Okay. What seat were you sitting on in the car? I was sitting in the front seat. Okay. Passenger side. So, that was just there when you got in the car. Yes, sir. All right. What about um what you said you were going to tell me what else is yours? I have I brought RA panties. RA panties. Airy panties. They're like shorts. That's what I brought and I needed to find a shirt to go with. But I brought that from home. Like that's what I had in the car. Okay. Um what about all this stuff? This is all in the car, too. This is all Nike or I mean this is all Adidas. Was what I had sir? It's a R. You were definitely in New Balance with them and I didn't take nothing. This stuff's all New balance. I don't have nothing. I just take I told you what I took of that skirt out of Okay, go ahead. Go have a seat. Okay, let's go ahead and wrap this up. Final thoughts. Like always, uh, first and foremost, big shout out to Orlando PD conducted a great investigation. Right. You had all the evidence, right? You had surveillance video, you have witnesses, you have the merchandise. You have it all up to the point to where you can go back to the station and just go ahead and arrest them for that felony. It's really that simple. Now, the biggest lesson of them all is this. I don't know what it is by you making a decision that's so risky, right? I mean, think about the consequences. You're going to probably end up with a felony and you know what? You're going to ruin your life. You can make better decisions, okay? Especially with your sister and family members. That is not a good example to show uh your loved ones, right? Especially the younger ones. Okay? Hope you learned something. Please be safe out there. Up next, I'm looking at a road rage incident that turns into a major shooting. On the ground. Get on the ground. Oh [ __ ] We got to get him somewhere fast. Truck standing. Shoot. Like you could see the blood squirting out. But that's over in my second channel where I'll be covering some of the most critical incidents in policing history. In total, they stole nearly $2,000 worth of goods from nine different stores. Now, all three were charged with retail theft involving five or more occurrences across multiple stores and over 20 items. They were also charged with use and possession of an anti-shoplifting device and grand theft of property valued over $750. At this time, we don't know the outcome of those charges or how the case was ultimately resolved. Okay, so you know the drill. Let's click that like button, that notification bell.
