I've handled my fair share of domestic calls, but today's video, man, takes us to a whole 'nother level. >> Hey, hey, hey. Dude, she's got I don't WANT HER IN MY HOUSE, SIR. HE'S RIGHT THERE. I DON'T WANT HER IN MY HOUSE. OFFICERS RESPONDED AFTER A WOMAN reports a dispute involving herself, her ex-boyfriend, and his new partner claiming that he pulled a firearm. And here's the moment the officers arrive on scene. >> The information you have a firearm, all right? Hey, hey, hey. >> [laughter] >> Dude, Okay, so right off the bat here, if officers suspect you have a firearm, do not make quick movements to your waistline like that, my man. Come on. Put your hands up. She threatened to girl in my Put your hands up. Listen, man. We're just going to make sure. She's She look She's literally lying because I want to lay in my bed and I want to bring You want to talk with him, I'll talk with her. Yeah. Get the in my house. Hey, go Get away from my house. GET AWAY FROM MY HOUSE. STAY RIGHT THERE, PLEASE. GET AWAY FROM MY HOUSE. WHAT IS GOING ON? This That's what's going on. Okay, what's going on? I This is the He He The cops already told her what told him once not to bring her here. [music] Mhm. And he And she And so he brought her here anyways. The cops already told him last time not to bring her here. Okay. So I want her trespassed from my property. So she's not going to come here. She's not on your property right now. Well, she No, she was. He's trying to have her He's trying to bring her inside. Okay. That's where all this stuff started. So what they've been saying right now, I have idea of Mhm. So How did this start? Me and him He cheated on me with that [ __ ] Okay. And Do you hear how I'm My voice is? I'm sorry. Yeah, so let's just keep it a little bit quiet. That way we They don't have to hear what you want. Slow down a little bit. He cheated on me with that herpes infested Okay. And then I'm like, you know what? I don't care what y'all do. Just don't bring her here. You know what I mean? That's all I asked. Don't bring her here. And so she he he tried to bring her here. Mhm. And he keeps trying to say that I'm like I I I mean Okay, so I get it. Who wants their ex's new partner hanging around in your home? But technically, if they both share the lease and his new partner is invited guest, she can't have this other girl trespassing, man. And they will have to solve this some other way. Cuz he's trying to say that I threatened to beat her ass. Damn right I threatened to beat her Cuz she did the other day, she came here and I walked outside with my gun. Mhm. Cuz I'm the I'm I'm own I'm I'm legal owner of it. Okay. And I was one of the firearm, not him. Yikes. Man, that sounds like brandishing. Using your firearm to threaten and or intimidate someone else is a serious crime and she's just really admitted to it. >> Okay. So just so you know, Okay, so you were the one with the I was one of the firearm, not him. The firearm's been put away. Yeah, the firearm's been put away. He didn't have the firearm on him. I had it. Okay, yeah. Dispatch Dispatch how it conveyed. Oh, yeah. He had the firearm. No, he didn't have the firearm. I did. Well, I I put Okay, right off the bat, let's get some good clarity here because when you start to say, "Well, he has a firearm." or maybe she has a firearm, we got to know who actually has the gun, right? Because that could lead to a situation where it's going to escalate, right? So we're getting a little rapport going on with the person reporting, right? She's the one to call the police and it looks like it's going to end up being a civil matter. >> Appreciate you clarifying that. >> Yes, I just want to put that out there now. I had firearm, not him. Okay. So put that out there now. You and her broke up? Me and her. So who's that? That's my girlfriend. Okay, so this is your ex. Yes. So what's the problem? >> just Bro, Why you I brought her here. I brought her here to spend time with in my house. You brought her here. >> Yes. Okay. And she showed up here? No, she lives here with me. >> She lives here with you. >> Yes, we're on the lease together. Okay. And then she got upset Yes. that you're bringing her over here. Yeah, and she said I had a firearm. I literally she literally told me if I brought her to the civil, she was going to shoot her and I'm 11550 to the 11550 All right. Okay. Does she have the firearm? She got inside somewhere? Okay. Do you have one somewhere? No, I want to go to bed. >> You don't have one inside or anything? No, I want to go to bed. That's all I wanted. I just want to go to Bro, I've got terrible this today and I just want to lay with my girlfriend here and go to bed. And I even told her She literally just came out here and said I pulled up so I was going to go to jail. She told you guys that I had a firearm. That's what she told us, that Yeah. I have a 10. Okay, there's a lot going on. I'm a little confused. What's so funny? Just ignore her. Right now, just ignore her. You're focusing on me. We're talking. Hey, are you staying here now? So what is your relationship with him? Uh that's my ex-boyfriend. Ex-boyfriend, okay. Do you guys have any children in common? >> No, we have no children. Does he still live here? Yes. Okay, and he still has permanent residency >> Yes. All right. Have you thought about kicking him out? Yes. Okay. How did that go when you told him about kicking him out? Well, see now they're trying to put lies on me. They're trying to put me in jail like Lies on you? Yeah, like literally like I just told him that I'm the one with the firearm. I didn't tell him that you didn't even have it. I I don't want her in my house. We've already checked him. He's good. But if you want to talk to him I don't want him in my house. Yeah. I don't want her in my house. I I I I get that. I get that, too. Questions first. She shouldn't come in your house. Hey, hey. Again, you're talking to me. Like I was asking you, can y'all please trespass her from this property? Yeah. That's all That's all I'm asking you to Hey, I'm getting there. Please. >> But I know we there's a certain level that we have to go with. It's steps. Yeah, please. It's all I'm asking. So I met Isaiah um girlfriend or whatever about three four weeks about a month ago, give or take. And they've been together, I guess, for an extended period of months. Uh I know I don't I don't know anything more than Zay. I don't know this girl. I just know that they're dating whatever or have exes, I don't know whatever. Okay. >> So me and Zay I guess we met on a I saw her I didn't know he had a girlfriend. He was with me happened. Yeah. And um pretty much uh I have been threatened. Mhm. She's I have text messages like right here. Like it's serious. Like she's threatening to go to my mother's house where my kid lives. Whoa. >> Like and I have that right here. Okay. What happened today is I literally is You're going to get kicked. I came over with Zay Uh-huh. because I guess you wanted to house and you know, grab something to eat. Mhm. I I text him and she said, "Yeah, she's tripping. She does this every day, Clarence." And every day, Clarence. Hey, you guys live here? There's no way of She's going to try to fight every day. There's no matter if he's nice or she is mean. Okay, so check this out, man. It's pretty crazy to me to bring your very new girlfriend to your shared house with your ex. Now that said, brandishing, death threats, and threatening her kid is never going to be an acceptable reaction. Now these officers need to figure out if it's true that they are trying to accuse her of these things and if she really has been making all these threats. She's threatening my life. She's threatening me. Um 11550 was just out there. But I mean, I'm not Yeah, 22 It's not It's the principle. You're You're threatening my family. You're threatening my life. 22 I'm doing nothing but sitting in a car as you seen. I just got out. >> 22 cleared that, correct? You aren't going off. Like I'm don't feel safe. I am at the point where I mean, what am I to do? You know what I mean? I'm coming to a place I'm on the street. I'm not out of the house. I never went inside. You know what I mean? I don't even know what the apartment looks like. I'm not playing at home. I have barely communicated with the girl. She's screaming at me to get out of the apartment. I'm not having no type of effect. It don't matter to me. Yeah. Like what the way this is going on, she is literally entrapping him in every single way. He's trying to get off the lease because this is how it's acting. Here's the second to call, Clarence. >> blame him. Yeah, and so basically she just consented to being on her own the lease on her own so he can dip out to another property within the within the complex. Yeah. And she said, "No, you're stuck here." Like I'm trying to do things. Like it's not okay. Like it's a crazy girlfriend situation. I heard something about the pretty much. So that's your girlfriend? All right, that's her mom. No, that's Zay's girlfriend. Well, I was asking you to clarify exactly. Whoa. Man, he's doing the big dog. Now she's literally just got Zay is big time, dog. Car 11, 123 Well, yeah, man. I didn't even have one. She had the firearm. So you got ex-girlfriend and girlfriend in the house. But that's a bad recipe, man. I was bringing her here in the car Totally agree. every last night. A recipe for disaster. And she did that. When I came home to lay down, she started banging, knocking on the walls. I mean, you can ask Ask the upstairs neighbor. She was screaming. 11550 was just out there. All right. I just want to go to bed. That's it. It's been a long day. 22 So you guys don't live together. We live in the same apartment together. Okay, we totally understand that Zay wants to go to bed, right? He's been up all day, works, etc. etc. I get that part, but I don't know, man. I don't know if you want to bring the new girlfriend to the ex-girlfriend's house, right? Considering all the circumstances and things that could happen, right? It's a bad recipe, just like the officer said. However, what I will say is officers often get involved in violent situations. Sometimes you have to make split-second decisions when you get involved in a shooting, but their demeanor and their disposition and how they're going about this particular radio call, this call for service, you know what? It's kind of spot on because they're building that rapport, that demeanor of the officer walking up to him saying, "Hey, man, you know what? This is a bad recipe." All that interaction and that dialogue is going to help definitely de-escalate and ease the tensions cuz you can tell all the parties involved, you know, there's a lot of tension going on. So he's staying the night or something like that? So you guys live in the same apartment. That's his new girlfriend. That's That's bad. I got you. So you said this upstairs, how do I get to the upstairs one? Since he is living here, Right. it is difficult because since he has residency, they are allowed to add as people over. Has she done anything to you that involved threats of violence or anything like that? I mean, yes, but not like over like texts or anything like in like face-to-face in person. >> Face-to-face, none of it was recorded. >> No, sir. >> Okay. So, I'm like this is the second time that that I've had to call cops over here Mhm. due to her being here and me not wanting her here. Yeah. So, the cops last time already said, "What are you doing?" Probably he was going over there to talk. Happy there. My firearm is in my counter. Upstairs? >> Yeah. Inside the house now? >> Yes. Okay. That's why I said that I don't want them going inside. The landlord when I talked to him this morning, he said that I could have her here. I mean, yeah, if if you want me to share on the the lease thing whatever, you can have whatever company you So, the landlord said you can have her there. Go for it. This one of those things, man. Because you know you got you got I'm trying to leave I'm Listen, listen. I'm trying to leave. She's refusing to release the the sign the lease thing. So, you got you got people here in Akron? You want them to stay with you or something like that? >> Yeah. Okay. They're they're going in and grabbing some stuff. Uh I don't know what he's doing, but I believe what they're going to try to do is see if he can just go with her for the night. I would That would That'd be much appreciated. >> I would definitely much prefer that because it's just going to keep being a constant issue. Exactly. >> Exactly what the cops said last time. I'm like that this is the second time that I've had to ask her not to come to my address. >> Yeah. Are you the landlord? Do you own this property or >> No, we we rent it. >> Have you talked to the landlord about evicting him? >> Yes, we have to go down tomorrow so I can send him off the lease. >> Okay, so it's going to be tomorrow. Yes. Uh just so you understand, it's still going to be 31 days. But that right I understand Okay, 31 days. That's a long time. Yeah, I get that. Absolutely. >> mean? Like like I don't care what they do. Just don't don't be in my face. You know what I mean? Don't come to my safety net. Yeah. >> Like don't don't do that. >> Meaning having the new girlfriend coming over. >> come to my house. Well, it's just super unfair for you. Exactly. That's what I'm saying. >> It's very disrespectful. >> It's your house. It's your money you own and he's bringing her around. Exactly. >> myself. Like that's why I'm pissed. Like he's putting me through so much [ __ ] because of this girl. And he won't she won't leave me They won't leave me alone. Just leave me alone. Let me live my life. Mhm. Like you don't bring her here. Yeah. Like that's all I ask. Don't bring her here. Yeah, I agree. We're going to see what we can do. Like I just don't want I just I want her trespassed on this property completely. You know, she brings up a good point. Look, just don't bring her here. I want my life to be free from her, right? And she's going to proceed with this uh getting him off the lease. I got to tell you the cops show so much empathy, and that's very very important because what you don't want is a situation where you're being a little stern saying, "Hey, he's not going to leave. So, you know, good luck. We're probably going to come out here again because you're going to call the police." We're going to We're going to see what we can do. Hopefully, we can just get her out of here for the night and then you can start that eviction. It's just difficult because he is allowed to invite people over. >> I understand that, but like from for like my personal safety and my personal my my peace of mind, can we please just keep her to to keep trespassing from this property? Like she's the only person I don't want here here. Like I live here. I'm on the lease. You know what I mean? >> Yes. Like Y'all don't Y'all don't understand the [ __ ] that they put me through the past two weeks. You know what I mean? Like you cheated on me with this little girl and you're going to bring her in my house? Mhm. That's wrong. Yeah, I agree. That's dead ass wrong. I agree. >> you do that? >> Happy 19th. Happy >> Like would you would you be okay with that? No. No. >> Right. And like the other night when she did come here, I did walk out of here with my gun cuz I am I'm legal to own a firearm. Yeah. And so I did walk out here like cuz they had four people in the car. >> Okay. Let's talk about that firearm. >> So, I'm not going to be out here by myself. Yeah. Are you serious? future. Understand that you walking out the house with a firearm it can be construed as a threat, which was. And then secondly, if you are leaving your house, you are leaving cover. So, you are going out to talk to somebody who is in front of your house, I'm going to encourage you to not do that in the future because that just puts you at risk. Say you go out there with a gun in your hand. They have guns and they start shooting. You have a gun. It can be justified. >> And like if he wants to like be technical if he threatened Really good advice from the officer. Look, you walk outside with a gun, you know, you're brandishing and next thing you know, for whatever reason someone else has guns. Oh, no. You know what? You're going to get into a gunfight. And like the officer said, it can be perceived as a threat. So, probably not the smartest thing to be walking out out of cover from the house with a gun. A lot of things can happen, so. >> mine and my daughter's life the other day. You're a big bro. All right, hey. He did not. We're going to go back and forth with her. I'll try to I was literally just trying to come in grab like lay down with my girlfriend and like and she's agreed that when I come home she wasn't going to be here. And then she waits every time for her to get here. The your new girlfriend? >> Yes. Wow, what an agreement. Interesting. Okay. So, this is the number to victim's assistance. Okay. What I'm going to ask you to do is you're going to give that number a call. It's 24-hour service. You are going to tell them they're really really great people. All right. Nine. Ask for a temporary protection order against her. See what they can do. See what your options are. paying for the property, she can't come with any remedies. Yeah. It's also known as a TRO, temporary restraining order. I'm I'm I'm about to leave. He does live here. I know, but if I get a restraining order or whatever protection order, he can't come here unless unless it's with the police. Yes. But that's why I'm nervous. He will just have to move out. Happy That's probably That's why I want to do uh thing with you. Yeah. So, I'd say call that. I'm You already have it punched in. Yeah. Like I'm I'm dead ass like maybe if like y'all are like here would it might help me like get it like processed faster or something? No. It It's just sort of like it's going to be difficult >> don't know her real name. I only know her by Gabby. Okay. You'll have to just ask him. Who? My cop? Yeah, no, your ex. He won't tell me. He won't tell you anything. Well, I can't give you I'm not allowed to tell you her name. What are your plans for the night? Huh? What are your plans for the night? Uh well, I was going to DoorDash a little bit, but I want to I'm with my girlfriend. Mhm. And I was And yeah. Happy. Okay. DoorDash with your girlfriend. Does she have a place to stay? Uh she does, but her roommate doesn't allow her. Okay. >> So, we're just trying to make sure that we get this as civil as possible. >> Yeah, as civil as possible. And I'm telling you right now It's not the goal. If you stay in this house with her, it is not going to be at all and it's civil. Like she's When I say sign it over to release me off the lease Yeah. She told me she told me that she's going to get that done tomorrow. So, that you don't have to worry about it and you can get out of here. Uh do you have any place that you can stay for the night? Cuz I'm telling you right now the best way to solve this for the day is separation. Just staying away from each other because you guys are going to be squabbling and fighting. Well, I'll ask her. I She's not cooperative at all. So, I'm going to see if she can find another place to stay for the night. You got family close by? Yeah. Uh I would like uh to That's good. It's good good on the part of the officers coming up with a solution. Yeah. The number I gave her is for victim's assistance. You can tell them what's going on. And you guys can talk to victim's assistance and see what can be done. Oh, okay. I like I like I like writing it out so that you have that in case you want to call them a second time or if you don't want to call them immediately and you want to wait, collect yourself before making that phone call, you have the piece of paper. Okay. So, here's the number to victim's assistance. I'm going to encourage you to give them a call, see what your options are. They are staffed by the nicest people and it's 24/7 service. So, you can call them at any time. All right. I'm going to go see Okay, so you notice how the officer is giving advice, some resources to Zay, right? One of the parties, but he also gave resource and advice to Bethany, who's the one that called the police. So, being very neutral goes a long way. The fact of her having this good dialogue and calming the situation down and giving the advice that, "You know what? It's just best if you just leave for the night, let everything cool down, and let's see what happens from here. Get off that lease, and let's move forward. What do you think?" I mean my lock on the door Okay. and she had taken it off. Yeah. It's just going to keep being bad now. Where's Where's your family live? Uh my family lives all the way out like Rittman. Rittman? Well, I'll see if she's willing to go to her cousin's. I'm telling you right now she won't. So, you might have to be the bigger man in this situation. Yeah. So, But you Zay is a big player, man. Look out for yourself. All right. DoorDashing, right? Yeah. the wrong direction. Motel, hotel, whatever. Funny stuff. I don't know if I have a Stark County Yeah. So, now let's talk about that warrant, huh? What's it for? Not being in Not completing community service. Okay. You have two. I have two. >> You have two warrants. Where? Um so, one is out of Stark and the other is out of Akron. One is traffic offense, the other is a misdemeanor for theft. So, telling you right now Which one out of Akron? I know the one out of Stark. Well, I believe it's one for theft. So, right now what we're going to do, we're going to put you in handcuffs before we put you back in the cruiser. I want you to understand handcuffs come off just as easy as they come on. Okay? So, we have to do our due diligence. You're showing some warrants. We're going to have to make a call out, and then we'll get everything figured out. No guarantee you're going to go to jail tonight, but we have to do what we got to do. What are they doing Summit County warrants? Because I did talk to this here yesterday. Very good part on the officer letting her know, "Look, those handcuffs come on just as easy as they go off." It's a saying that us cops been doing for decades, right? Because when you detain someone legally and you're going to affect an arrest, you are allowed to handcuff them, right? However, depending on the circumstances, and in this case being a warrant or maybe two, we're about to find out to see if they're going to go ahead and take off the handcuffs and release her. Yeah. So. And they didn't say anything about that? >> We're going to get it figured out. For now, do you mind just putting your hands behind your back, okay? So, just be cool with us, we'll be cool with you. I'm telling you right now. >> Take these for a moment. Good job. Don't forget to double lock them. Turn your head or wrist. It's more comfortable that way. Left? Yes. Well, I don't know then. >> That's So, we're going to get it figured out. I just have to call out, okay? Uh those are locked. You got it right here. inside of the house? >> Nope. My firearm is inside the house, yes. So, you understand that if you have a firearm, you cannot have a warrant. I I didn't know about the warrant until just now. You just told me you had a warrant. In Summit County. Yeah, you can't have a firearm at all. We're not We're not worrying about that right now, but understand that if I saw you with that firearm, you'd be going back to Summit County. Yes. She said you guys have a friend's place that you guys can stay. I think that's just the best for the night. Um I definitely man, get out of here. Yes. Is she's Is she bringing out the gun? It ain't worth it. Yeah. Well, just And the crazy part is everything in the apartment besides her air mattress is mine. Yeah. I brought all that with me when I'm over here. It's out of your hands at this point. over with my over here with my mom. Hopefully she'll be, you know, civil with it, but if it's not, you're going to have to take her to court. It's it's a unfortunate thing where we can't do anything about it. >> Right. All right. We have to talk to victim assistance. Yeah, I gave him a number. It's a great >> Are we the victims or is she the victims? Guys, just tell them what's going on. >> Yeah. Tell them what's going on. Tell them what to do. Yeah. Hm, interesting. Don't know who's been victimized. I know. You You two are free to go, okay? All right. You guys be safe. Try your best to If you have to come back, try to make it All righty. Stay safe. Please, sir. I've never been to jail before. Please. Please, no. Please, no. Please, no. I want to see my daughter in the morning. Sir, please. Okay, so she's pleading with the cops to let her go, but that simply is never going to happen. And really, I think you could argue these cops have already cut her a lot of slack. They know she has a firearm even though she shouldn't because of her warrants. Now, she brought that firearm out to confront these two, which maybe you could catch a brandishing charge for. So, she might consider herself lucky here. She is not allowed back there ever in my house. Uh-oh. They're still there. They haven't left yet. Get them out of here. Sir, you're going to have them in my house. Just just get them out of here. I'll roll up the windows for you. Sir, you're going to have them in my house. I don't want them in my house. They're going to TAKE MY STUFF. IF YOU GUYS WANT TO STAY HERE, you can. Yeah. I'll just park on the corner over there. So, she has a um warrant for possession of a firearm. And I told him she can't She can't have a gun when you have a warrant. So, that's true. So, uh did you guys want to follow me to the alley or do you guys want to fill out paperwork? What do you guys want to do? I'll just fill out paperwork. All right. It works. Sleep tight, you guys. Appreciate you cooperating with us. Yep. Yep. Take care. You know what? I ain't collaborating with anybody to go nowhere. It won't get you far, actually. It won't. It will. in jail. Yes, you're going to go to jail. For what? For having a weapon under disability. What do you mean under disability? You have a warrant. You cannot own a firearm. >> They sold it to me. I know, and that's on them because they never should have. Why am I in trouble for it? I didn't know. I I Hey, hold the phone for a second. What do you mean you didn't know? And yeah, the cops said that's on them. I don't know. I'm going to say that's on you. If you know that you're doing community service, you should know what the conditions are, and one of those conditions is that you cannot carry a firearm. So, you know what? Let's take some accountability and deal with the consequences, as you can see. I didn't know. The law will still apply to you even if you don't know. I I didn't know though. They still sold it to me. They should never have. Yeah, but Uh-oh. J's going in with the girlfriend, man. Don't do it. Sir, please. Which one did you want? There's two tickets. He has a gun in his car right now. Okay, let's Hey, man. Do you mind just staying back? Would you like your wallet and stuff? Hit that vape. You like doing that? Bethany was charged with having weapons under disability, but the prosecutor later dropped the charges, and the case was closed. Look, let's get some lessons learned out of all this. My takeaways is, no different than it should be for you, is the fact that the cops really did a great job maintaining that dialogue, maintaining that professionalism, that respect, and you couldn't have two better cops explaining both parties exactly what they needed to do, the resources, and try to get the situation where it's just kind of going to go away, right?
