On July 13th, 2025, Lady Lake police responded to a 911 call about a shoplifting suspect at a Target on US Highway in Lady Lake, Florida. Store employees reported a female detained after attempting to leave without paying. The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Kylie Elizabeth Bloom contacted inside the asset protection office. As officers questioned her, the investigation quickly moved forward. Hello. Hello. These are the items that she concealed into a purse. We watched her select everything and put everything into that purse. Um, this ID. >> Yeah. Um, so they've been really cooperative. I thought that she was a minor at first, hence why the family is in here. Otherwise, they would have stayed out. Um, but yeah, they've been really, really cooperative. >> She's 18. >> Yep. Just turned 18. My printer's broken, so I've got to write the affidavit. I'm sorry. >> Okay. [clears throat] >> Family. Yeah. >> Unfortunately, >> has she ever been in trouble before? >> No. >> No. She almost got kicked out of our house by her stepdad for getting a speeding ticket. Like, okay. >> She has Do you all live here in Florida now? >> No. We're visiting my parents. We're supposed to leave tonight. I'm think I'm meeting my mom for like early dinner. >> All right. effort should walk just 18. This is family. They live in South Carolina. Leaving tonight to go back to South Carolina. She just turned 18. >> So what what I was just being really sorry. >> Okay. Yeah. Everything she asked for. Put it in the buggy. Like we were just trying to get out of my parents house cuz it's 75°. They're like, "It's freezing in here. Let's go to the store. Get it. Get it. Get it. Get get what you want." >> Okay. So, you can see what I'm in your purse there. >> Yes. >> You can look at my purse. I'm going to I'm going to search you, too. So, >> I have nothing else. I gave him everything. >> Do you have anything on your person I need to know about? No, ma'am. >> I gave them everything back. >> That's I I meant more along the lines of any weapons for >> Oh, no, ma'am. Never. >> Okay. I'll just have you stand right here for me. I'm just going to >> let give phone to mom for now. Okay. >> Okay. All right. So, you do have to turn around. Am >> I getting arrested? >> I have to detain you at that time. Okay. >> You have tiny wrists. So, here's the thing. You're not a resident of Florida. So, I can't issue her a notice to appear because [snorts] you live out of state. So, she has to go to jail for it. >> Can I drive here? >> I can drive down to go to court. >> Unfortunately, no. >> Anytime you don't live in Florida, you have to go to jail for the offense because our notice to appear is for like if you were a resident here, it'd be different than if you don't have any criminal history. We >> from here to Jacksonville. I couldn't give you one of those for >> Yeah. You have to live. Can we use like my grandma's address? I'll drive down. >> If she has no priors, it's going to just be a misdemeanor offense. I think it's a $500 bond. If you use a bonds balesman, you just pay I think the minimum is 100. So, it' be $100. So, you could go literally right up there. She post her bond and she'll get right back out. But, she is going to have a court date. She's going to have to come back for court. Um, the whole deal. So, um, you know, if she was still a juvenile, it would have been honestly the same scenario. >> How long did she stay if I don't come bail her out >> until she bonds? >> She bonds out or time served. 30 days, 45 days. >> You're under 21 in the state of Florida. You also cannot >> That's not mine. That's my mom's. >> Okay. It's in your possession. So, I'm just telling you that you can't have that in the state of Florida till you're 21. Okay? So, it'll go to your mom, but you can be issued citation for that and that's a whole another I'm not going to but just so you're aware okay >> you have to go to jail is >> I say and I'm not just trying to be rude about it it's just the simple fact you you're not a resident here so I have to take you it's you know >> we couldn't like use my grandma's address or anything to like say >> you're not a resident you're a resident of South line on unfortunately 20. She's going to be 105. >> How long is her booking? And >> RJ's pretty quick just to >> and yeah, me tightening up the paper end of the shift. So, >> could she like follow those things? >> I mean, she can. She >> can't. She's still going to have to wait until >> it's probably going to be a couple hour process. >> I say probably about 2 hours cuz it's going to take 30 minutes to get there and then paperwork. >> Take your picture, your fingerprints. >> We are supposed to be back in 10 minutes and then I have to go to jail for hours. What do you think? But I'm not going to let her sit there waiting. >> Whose bag is this? >> That's not ours. >> Not yours. Okay. mom or someone if they want to bail you out can come bail you out. If they choose not to do that, then you're going to have to sit there until >> Is this going to be like on my record forever? >> Will you stand by real? I'm going to school to get elementary schools. Whenever I get there, can I call people or do I have to wait? >> You got to wait till they book you in >> the but then there's um they have like pay phones in the cell. So >> they're free in booking. >> But they're free in booking. So you can make a >> like whenever I'm waiting to get close. >> No, >> I'll get the arrow back here for you. Okay. >> And whenever I get there, I'm going to be changed out of my clothes, too. >> So the only reason I did get arrested is just because I'm not arrested. You can be arrested regardless, but we try to work with people when they have no prior criminal history. >> You know, you don't have any previous thefts. If you have two previous thefts, then you have to go to jail. Um, but since you had no priors, if you were a resident here, then I probably just would have gave you a court date and you could arrest it. Still considered an arrest, but it's considered a non-custodial, which means we're not actually taking you to jail because you're not a resident. And the reasoning is a lot of people who live out of state, if I give you that notice to appear on the court for court date and let you leave, they just go back to their state and they're never going to show up to that. So then they have to write a warrant and then you're never going to come back to Florida to get, you know what I mean? So that's why they make you go right then and there. $500 bond, you have to pay 10% of that. So >> they don't have my my mom doesn't have to pay the whole thing right now or >> if she goes through a bail. If she wants to just pay the full amount, then she can do that, too. >> But what's the other option? You said >> you go through a bail sponsor and then you only have to pay 50%. But they have a minimum of 100. So instead of normally, you know, uh, >> so she would just pay 250 today to get me out. >> Yep. 100. >> Okay. >> All the it would require >> and then she would have to pay the rest in like a certain amount of time. Uh, I'm not sure how the payment schedule is with the bills and that's between y'all and her. >> You probably should have told her that. So, I think that's why she's calling my stepdad. >> Once again, you'll have this as a prior state. I I mean, I don't know how South Carolina is, but the state of Florida. So, that's a $2,500 box. and a fellow director. Get a job with any kids or any >> Yeah, cuz I'm I start school August 25th, but I'm going to school to be an elementary school teacher. So, >> Kylie Bloom was arrested for shoplifting after admitting to concealing stolen merchandise valued at more than $140. She was charged with petite theft and transported to the Lake County Jail, where she later posted a $500 bond and was released pending her court appearance.
