first. Do you understand? So, just tell me exactly what happened that day and let's start over and forget all the [ __ ] the last 45 minutes. Is that fair? Let's start over. Go ahead. [clears throat] >> No, everything is accurate. >> On September 13th, 2021 in Ashtabella, Ohio, Randall D. Campbell was brought in for questioning in connection with the death of Crystal Miller Garnney, who had died as a result of a gunshot wound. Spoiler details are in the video description and the full results of all charges in the case are laid out at the end of the video. >> I think so. Okay. >> What did uh you said the ant came and picked you up? >> Mhm. >> My dad. >> Oh, your dad did. Okay. They took you over to East 14 >> and this is where Crystal lives. The auntie aunts, whatever they call her. >> He called her aunt. >> Okay. Yeah. I think it was her nickname. Did you ever meet her before? >> Yeah. Okay. >> We were two days apart. >> What's that? >> Our birthday's two days apart. >> Okay. So, you knew we were well enough to know our birthday, huh? >> Just a couple ties we were just talking about and birthdays and whatnot. >> Okay. Prior to going over there, what you think to be Saturday? When was the last time you think you saw Dan? >> Uh, morning before that. >> Morning before that. So, Thursday morning? >> No, I think it been Friday, too. I was over there Saturday. >> Okay. Who were you over there just visiting Dan? >> Um, no. my dad. I walked over to talk to him cuz uh uh somebody had broken and my dad's stole a bunch of stuff and I was as went over there to ask him about it and he started yelling at me cuz I didn't call first and I was like I was trying to call and so I just kept on walking. >> Try calling Dan. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So your dad took you over there >> Saturday. Yeah. >> Saturday. Okay. >> Friday I walked >> walked over there. That's a hell of a hike. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So you go over there Friday. Uh, who's there with him on Friday? Do you know? >> Um, I don't know her name, but she's like u kind of tomboyish and she was in a white jeep. >> Okay. I >> think it was white and uh >> she got short short hair like >> foot chef. >> Okay. Yeah. Yeah, we know. What was going on when you were there? >> Uh, I don't know. He was just real like [ __ ] like kind of just weird. But Melissa was the one that opened the door and let me in. So >> Melissa, >> let me see what her name is. 851 they call Auntie. >> Okay. Auntie let you in. >> Mhm. >> And you think that was what day? >> I think it was Friday morning. >> Okay. >> It was like 8 8:30ish. >> All right. And she was there >> on that morning. Okay. All right. And you think that's Friday morning? >> I think so. >> Okay. All right. Do you have anything in your phone that might help you? Do you remember call them on those dates that you went over there? Something like with your timeline. You know what I mean? >> I don't know. Maybe you called them or send him a text like, "Hey, I'm swinging through." Or something crazy like that. Texture A2. All right. Heat. So each time you've been over there lately, your dad's been you over there. He walked. Last time I was there was when my dad took me up. >> Okay. There were times when Dan came picked you up, took you over there? >> Uh not after that. Nope. >> How about before that? >> Just that one. Uh, it was prior to us getting into it that argument. >> Okay. What happened that day? >> What did I say? >> You said when he picked you up, what occurred that day? >> Oh, we uh went and picked his uh uh his brother's truck up at White Dodge. Okay. Who's his brother? Do you know? No. >> Where'd you pick that up at? >> Geneva. Okay. You know what day that is by chance? >> Wednesday, Wednesday, I guess. >> Okay. And how did that meeting come to be? How did you guys get together that day? You call him, he called you, or how did how did that happen? >> I um I think I called him. I don't remember. >> Pick you up at >> my dad's house. at your dad's house. Anybody with him? >> Uh, see. Yeah, it was the the girl in the Jeep. She's the one that gave us the right to picked up the truck. >> Mhm. >> Okay. You brought it out here? >> Mhm. >> Where'd you go with it when you got it out here? >> Um, where'd you go? Went out to the hell was that? I was on some dirt roads. was a friend of his and we were supposed to uh pick up some fencing and a bunch of other scrap and haul it in. >> Okay. >> But we never did cuz like we got into an argument that next day. So, >> you ever met uh Dean's girlfriend? >> Heather, >> huh? >> Heather. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> When did you meet her? [sighs] actually met hers about the same time I met Dan. Okay. >> Over at uh D Bradbury. >> The house over in Harbor Avenue. >> Mhm. >> Brick house. Garage is burnt down. All this [ __ ] >> Okay. Which >> So you're going back what you think is Wednesday. You said that Dan can pick you up at your house. >> Is that what Yeah. Okay. Um, it was the 8th. What day was that? When uh >> that would have been Wednesday. >> What time did he get a hold of you? Or did you get a hold of him? How How'd it work? Dave is when we got in the argument cuz like I said, I showed up. See how we this and saying September 8th. So, >> did he text you or did you call? >> No, that was when I showed up. We got in. He started screaming at me for not calling for show before showing up. >> Okay. What time did you show up at his house? Wednesday. It's like 8 8:30ish >> in the morning. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Is anybody else there? >> Yes. One of those let me in and on that uh whatever her name is to put girl looking girl. >> Oh, okay. That by chance you think that was her name. Yeah. >> Okay. She had short crew cut like tattoos all over. >> Okay. So about 8:30 in the morning you show up there. >> Okay. And then uh who else is there? That was it. Just it was two. >> Okay. And that's Wednesday morning, the 8th. >> Okay. >> Do you leave or what happens? >> Mhm. >> Okay. Do you go back that day or anything? >> No, you didn't go back over at all. >> All right. And then when was the next time you saw Dan? >> When I grabbed my bag that I forgot there. That's why my dad took me over there. >> What day was that, do you think? Actually, you know, it was back that afternoon because I was talking to his brother about the truck. >> Who's Who's Dan's brother? >> I can't remember his name. His girlfriend's uh pregnant though. I know that. >> And we're talking about Danny Taylor. There's another Dan that you guys know too, right? Danny Barn. >> I don't know who is. I'm not last names. >> You might know him if you saw him already. Right. Okay. So, we're talking about Danny Taylor, the one that I lived there on 14th. >> Mhm. So, you said you might have went back later in the afternoon. >> Yeah, I did. >> How'd you get over there? >> He picked me up. That's That's right. He did pick me up from over by Nicole's >> Nicole's house. Okay. Anybody with him? >> Heather was a girlfriend. Okay. Where'd you guys go? >> Uh, we went back to the house and was sitting there uh was that day or was it the next day? and Cole had called me and that's when I walked over there and I that's when I forgot my bag. >> It was that day. What was [clears throat] that day? Day eight. >> So you got a fight with him that morning? >> Mhm. >> What did you guys argue over? It was cuz he cuz I didn't uh contact him before showing up and he said I got him in trouble. >> Who did you get him in trouble with? >> I guess Melissa. I don't know. >> Okay. Girl with the short hair. >> No, Melissa. His aunt. >> Oh, auntie. Okay. Yeah. All right. So, was she Did you see her though? Did you talk to her? >> That morning, but not that afternoon. No. >> Okay. How old do you think this his aunt is? The one that everybody. >> Okay. All right. >> Like I said, we're two days apart. >> Okay. >> I was born on 19 and she was born on 21. >> Was she upset or anything that morning? H >> Where were you guys all at when you got there? >> I never left the kitchen. >> Okay. You're in the kitchen. >> All right. How long do you think you were there that morning? >> That morning? Maybe 5 minutes. >> Okay. And so you you just walk in, you just turn around and walk out. >> Yeah. Cuz he went upstairs and I was like, "Whatever." and I just took off walking. >> And where was uh where's his aunt at that point? >> She was uh she was still in the [ __ ] >> Okay. Hey, see anybody else? Did you hear anybody else? >> Just like I said, just that girl. >> What vehicle was there? >> Huh? >> What vehicles were there? >> The white van was out front. Mhm. >> And the white truck was beside the house. And the witch girls was kind of in the backyard. >> What was in the the backyard? >> Her jeep. >> Okay. >> I think it's not white or silver. Yeah. >> Okay. That's a girl with a real short hair like this. >> And she was standing by the stairs. >> Okay. All right. And then you said later that day you got picked up. What' you call him for? >> Oh, he called me. >> Okay. Why is that? >> We were supposed to go haul some more uh scrap, but we went back to the house and p around and that it's like and then that's when uh uh what's her name called me? Nicole. And I walked back over there >> and you walked in Nicole's house. >> Mhm. >> That's when I forgot my bag. >> All right. And you said uh Heather, which is his girlfriend was around. >> Mhm. >> Was she there the whole time you were at the house that afternoon? Mhm. Okay. Did she leave before you did? >> Mm. She was there while you by chance take a ride with him in the truck later. How does demeanor seem Wednesday afternoon? Just real It was real weird. He's been acting really weird lately. Anyways, I mean just like since when? Like when you say lately? Is there like a specific day or just in general? >> Just in general. >> Just like when he hit that girl at my house. I just couldn't believe he did it. >> What girl did he hit? >> KK splitter. >> That bad fight that happened upstairs in the house. >> Mhm. >> What do you hit her for? I guess she stole somebody uh her uh front his he called her cousin or something we heard something like that >> something about it and she stole his wallet or her wallet and medication. >> Okay. >> I was downstairs talking to dad and all we just heard screaming and she come running down just covered in blood. >> Yeah. The door and took off. Yeah. >> Well, she hit my purse and my wallet and I said, "All right." and I went upstairs to grab it and was in there with you during that time. >> Yeah, just a couple nights. But >> how long did you know before that? >> Probably 2 3 months maybe. Just met him over the summer. >> Okay. So, you talk about scrapping. Have you ever gone scrapping with him? >> I just know him and uh uh David did a lot. David um Bradberry. >> Okay. You know anybody goes by the name of Chad? Yes. Who's Chad? >> I met him. >> Through Nate. >> Through who? >> Nate. >> Nate. Which Nate >> Clark? >> Okay. Nate Clark. There's a couple. And there's white guy and I know there's a black guy. >> Black. >> Okay. Uh, have you ever gone to connect recycling? Sold any scraps them? >> I didn't. I rode with them. But >> who' you ride with? >> Oh, Dan and Chad. >> When was the last time you were there? >> That day that they turned that stuff in. >> I I don't What day is that? I don't know. >> Well, we obviously had the white truck. So, >> so he picked that up. When did he pick that white truck up? >> Got it. These are sons. I can't remember. >> So the Wednesday, so possibly the day before, >> right? >> And you said that the girl with the short hair drove you guys out to Geneva to pick it up. >> And it was that afternoon. I believe it was that afternoon when we went to connect. Okay. >> Possibly Monday or Tuesday then, right? >> Okay. Did you by chance on Wednesday make any comments to him that you weren't feeling good or anything like that? >> Uh I think so. Okay. Had you seen him that time in the morning at all when you went over there and then you uh he yelled at you up until the time that him and Heather picked you up? You didn't see him at all? How long do you think you were at his house when he went back the second time? probably 45 minutes maybe. >> Okay. >> Anybody else show up while you're there? >> Yeah, like I said, his uh brother and his his girlfriend and their two friends. >> Okay. >> We were all sitting there waiting for him to come back. >> Okay. >> What time do you think he picked you up? Wednesday afternoon. probably new or oneish. >> New or Wish. Okay. And you said Heather was with them at that point. >> Mhm. >> And you guys went directly back to 14th. >> Okay. Did you go anywhere else with them? I think I went somewhere and then I came back. Trying to remember where the hell he went. Is that when we went to look for a chat? I think I don't remember. >> Have you ever been up on the second floor of that house on my 14th? >> Mhm. >> Where have you been? Upstairs. >> Uh in Melissa's room. >> Okay. >> And which upstairs? When you go up the stairs, you turn to the left and then all the way back in the front. >> Someone overlooks the road. >> Mhm. >> How many bedrooms are you aware of that's upstairs? >> Just two that I know of. >> Two. Do you know which bedroom any belongs to David or Daniel? I'm sorry. >> Uh could be the one on the right. Okay. >> You ever been in there? You understand where we're going with this, Randy? I guess he must have did something. You have any knowledge of what he did? Here's the thing. I'll just be really straightforward with you. We need to figure out what happened that day, how it happened, and why it happened. Okay? And if if the girl that you believe is auntie or whatever, if something's happened to her, we need to locate her. You understand that? >> Right. >> Um we know that you're with him in approximate time frames that something could have possibly happened. Not to say you're involved at all. You understand that? Not to say you're involved, >> but um you know, we suspect maybe uh he was around you shortly thereafter. I don't know if he would have knownly assisted him in anything or maybe just went along for a ride, but if he did, I'd rather you be just the best witness you can be and not a codependent. Does that make sense? >> Right. >> Okay. Cuz if she is dead, it's a homicide investigation. We're not talking about something relatively minor here. We're talking about a huge chunk of life going to prison, >> right? >> So, what we do is we're going to continue with our investigation. We'll continue along this. And I mean, the evidence will come out sooner or later. I mean, everybody thinks they've covered their tracks. Everybody thinks they've done a good job, but more times than not, we we figure it out. I would rather the person that's solely responsible suffer the consequences, not everybody else after the fact. So, I'm just going to ask you is, are you aware of what happened? And did you assist after the fact at all? >> No. Okay. >> Are you sure? He's never made any statements to you about possibly what have occurred? >> No. cuz that's why we uh hold that whole argument with or the final argument. That's why I shut my phone off. And >> what was the final argument about? >> Cuz he wanted me to come help and I wouldn't help. I said, "No, we're we're done. I'm not helping you no more. You said we were done being friends. I'm done." >> What did he need help with? >> He just said he didn't need help. Okay. >> And he's trying to say that I screwed him and I It cost him a bunch of money. >> Whatever. >> And this was Wednesday afternoon. No, this is the day my dad took me and picked up or not picked him up, picked me up, which I guess would Saturday, I guess. So, between the time of say and he actually threatened me that day, too. What did he threaten you by? What did he say? and said that I uh uh told my dad not to keep his camera for me. Okay. This is just randomly. So, let's go back cuz I shut his phone off. >> You shut his phone off? >> Well, my phone, but cuz I let him use it. >> Okay. He had that physical phone? >> No, no, no, no. Not this phone. >> He had a phone of yours. Where's that phone at now? What's that phone look like? >> It's black. >> What's the number on it? Number >> uh it was uh 66 665. >> It was on your account. >> On my dad's? Yeah. >> Okay. And when did you shut that phone off? >> Because if we're not friends, I'm not letting them use it. >> All right. Is that like on your dad's account, too? Do you have three lines? Is that what Who's your provider? >> Right. Verizon. Okay. Have you So, you called Verizon and had that phone shut off? >> No, I just went on the app. >> Yeah. When he when he said uh on that we were done being friends and blocked me and I was like, "Okay, whatever." >> So, this argument all starts Wednesday morning cuz you just stop in. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, you you stop Wednesday. >> You said the ETH. >> Yeah. The ETH. You stop in just unannounced. Him and his aunt's home. He just flames out. >> Mhm. >> Cuz you stop by. >> Yeah. He announced that girl uh and Melissa both. >> What other girl? >> The short-haired one that was driving the Jeep. >> Okay. So, that one's different than aunt. The aunt. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, the one with the short hair is different. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, they're both there. >> Mhm. >> Okay. And I haven't seen the short hair girls since. So, >> okay. So, then you stop there. He flames out over that and then you leave and where do you go? >> Over Nicole's. >> Okay. How long you at Nicole's? >> Couple hours. >> Hey, where'd you go from Nicole's? >> This one. He uh come him and Heather come pick me up. >> They picked you up from over there. What time do you think that was? >> I think it was like noon one somewhere. >> Noon one. And then from there you go to where? >> Back to now. >> 14th. Okay. >> And then once you get there, how long are you there? >> Probably I'll say probably 45 minutes maybe. >> Everything's cool then though. He's not mad at you anymore. >> Mm-m. >> Everybody's cool. Kosher. >> And while you're there, >> he just like I said, he was just like real. >> Did you go upstairs then? >> Huh? Did you go upstairs during that time? >> Just to his room. That was it. >> Okay. >> Cuz he was uh cleaning uh packing this like I don't know if he was unpacking or packing or whatever, but he was going through his clothes. You ever been on his aunt's bed, sat on it, done anything? Only went to uh that one day when we were all sitting there talking that one day. But that was probably was it the day we picked the white truck up or day before somewhere and Wednesday? So you go back for he said you go back to the house after he picks you up over by Nicole's house. You come back over to 14th. him and his girlfriend's there, correct? How long do you think you're there then? >> Probably, like you said, probably about 45 minutes. >> Okay. And then >> I mean, I wasn't looking at my phone. >> I get it. I get it. How do you depart then? >> That's when I walked back over to Nicole's. >> So, you went back to the second time. >> Mhm. >> Okay. And then you never see him later that day again. When she got back to 14th with him, he never went for another ride. >> Okay. >> Oh. Um yeah, when he picked me out, that was it. >> But then picked you up from Nicole's, which isn't very far, right? >> Right. >> And you went straight to 14th. >> Mhm. >> Never went for a ride after that. >> Yeah, it said we went somewhere. Uh I think we were looking for Jet. >> Where did you specifically go, Randy? That's important. >> I know. That's what I'm trying to remember. It was I don't know cuz like I said, I was playing on my phone and he was driving. How far away do you think you went? Is this a 2-minute drive? Is this a 22minute drive or a 42-minute drive? >> I want to say probably about 20 minutes. >> Goes south. Can't go north 20 minutes. >> No. Go east, go west. Was on some dirt roads and stuff? >> And who was with you when you guys went that ride? Heather went with you. Okay. >> And what did you do when you got down to those dirt roads? >> We were um look was I think we look pretty. I just remember the dirt roads cuz it was dusty. You in the white truck? >> Mhm. >> Were you seated in the truck? >> I was in the back seat. Did you get down to the dirt roads? Did you guys unload anything? No. No. I know. I went behind the Tractor Supply. What's behind Tractor Supply? Talking about by the mall. >> M. So, you actually pulled into the mall's property. >> Mhm. >> And you pulled out back there. >> How long were you back there? >> Say 10 minutes [snorts] cuz we're eating a cheeseburger. >> Where'd you pick that cheeseburger up? >> McDonald's. >> Yeah. >> Why'd you pull him behind Tractor Supply? >> We were looking for Chad. I remember that. Chad would be behind Tractor Supply. >> Yeah, he said. Yeah. >> I don't think I've ever been back there. Is that an open lot? Is that like where the dumpsters are and [ __ ] behind a commercial building? I >> think so. >> Okay. So, you guys just pull and you're in that white truck. Anybody get out of the truck? >> Uh just cuz they're going to have cameras. That's going to be >> Yeah. Just uh Dan. I think No, I don't think Dan did. That's when we picked Chad and Chad. We picked Chad up that day. Yeah. And his phone went to um connect. See, then that's when I went to the next. >> Do you have your phone with you that day, Randy? >> Mhm. >> Okay. And then that's and then he tried to call me that afternoon, but I didn't answer. It was like 9:30. I tried calling him back at 11:00. And then Jack took me home and he got up the next uh that's when I got woke up the next morning cuz dad woke me up and that's and cuz he got somebody robbed him. >> What' you have in a bag over there? >> Oh my um uh social security card birth certificate. Did you in a bag? Locked it over there? I didn't mean to it >> obviously cuz I thought you lost all that stuff in your wallet got stolen. Didn't you say they took all that kind of right down here? You said they stole all your stuff and stole your identity. >> Mhm. >> I got left. That's >> okay. >> And uh and now my social security card's gone. That's what I was pissed about. But and that's when uh see and dad woke me up and we got into it and that's when I took off walking and I walked over there. >> Did you drop something off behind tractor supply? >> No, we picked up Chad and uh Stacy. >> Picked up Chad, Stacy behind Tractor Supply. >> Yeah. And they took >> How did it How did they get over there? Uh >> that's just an unlikely place. There's no houses right there, right? You got the mall. No, >> they were dropped off, I guess. and we picked them up and that's when we took them to connect. >> So that was your 20-minute trip was over to Tractor Supply >> roughly 5minute drive isn't it? He's 14. Five minutes. I mean, you cut over 11th, right? You right 11. You're there. >> I said, but we went to McDonald's and got cheeseburgers. >> Your phone's with you the whole time. >> Mhm. Okay. >> You got passcode on your phone? >> No. >> No. Okay. So, what we're going to do is we're going to hold your phone right now as evidence. All right. And what I do want to do is I want to advise you of your rights at this point. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to retain an attorney and attorney present with you right be questioned. If you cannot afford to hire one >> arrested. >> No, I'm just devising your rights. >> If you cannot afford to hire one, Asheville County is a public defender county, which means they'll give you one as long as you qualify. Anytime of your dusing, you may exercise your rights and answer your questions, make any statements. You understand your rights in the Miranda? Okay. >> All right. So, I'm going to be really upfront with you. Okay. Obviously, we believe something happened to the young lady that was living there. All right. I'm not going to go into great details on Daniel's statement. Do you understand that? And I'm not going to go into great details on Heather's statement, but we've already obtained some some information. Okay? Then combine that with your statement. I don't believe you're being 100% honest in what happened that day. Do you understand me? >> I'm trying [clears throat] to but listen, if something happened that day, I don't believe you are actively part of it. But if you know about it and afterwards you did anything with it, you need to tell us, >> right? >> Because very easily somebody can come back and say, "You did this, you did that, and I came and helped." And then you're [ __ ] >> Do you understand me? >> This [ __ ] of going behind tractor supply this and this and this. >> There's cameras. >> Okay, we will. >> Okay, >> but going up and down dirt roads, there's no dirt road to get to Tractor Supply. Do you understand? Randy, look at me. >> Tell me honestly what happened that day, okay? so we can go get some closure for the family. I don't think you actively were involved in it, but I think you got sucked into something you didn't want to be involved with. Do you understand that? I've never known you to be a violent person, but you need to be honest now. So, you're not spending the rest of your natural life in prison. Okay? This isn't who did it up in your attic on an assault. This is somebody's gone and we think she's dead. Do you understand me? It's way different. I don't >> I'm pretty sure he did something. I'm sure. >> Okay. What happened? Where did you honestly go so we can go find the >> sh I don't know where it was was that we went I don't >> it was on a railro uh dirt dirt road and a railroad tracks. That's all I know. >> Did he get rid of something over there? >> Not a window. >> Did he stop the truck? >> Yes. >> Okay. And what did he do when he got out of the truck? >> We were sitting there talking all three of us. >> Did anybody get out of the truck at any point? >> Yes, we all did. >> And where did you go? Um, Randy, just spit it out. >> I'm trying to remember. Uh, I'm not hiding nothing. I'm just trying to remember what the hell where it was. This I know they went fishing there. >> Randy, stop. Do you understand where the story is going and where the inaccuracies are and everything else? This phone here, which is now ours for evidence, >> we're going to dump it and we're going to get your geocodes. We're going to know exactly where you're at. Okay. You need to tell me now what happened. Do you understand that? Mhm. >> I'm trying to keep you out of prison for a long, long time. You're not grasping it. Do you understand? Okay. She's 190 lb woman. Pretty hard for Dan. He's not a very big boy, is he? Okay. A little hard for him to be doing all the work. Heather's not a very big girl either. I've only been doing this 25 years, but we can draw some reasonable conclusions that there's possibility he had help after the fact. All right. I'm not going to go into all the evidence we have in the house. I'm not going to go into all the other statements we know which counter some of the [ __ ] that you're giving me. >> No, I'm I said the >> Can you drive me to wherever >> young lady was? I wish I could. >> Can you take me to where she was dumped? One question and think hard before you answer this. Do you know she was dumped somewhere? Think really, really hard. To time to [ __ ] Randy, tell me what happened. And then we're going to get my car and you're going to take me to where she's at. Does that make sense? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Look, did you have any active part in her death? >> No. >> Okay. When were you notified that she was dead? Look, you have a mom, you have a dad. Do you understand that? I'm dealing with her family right now. All right. I know she had issues. I know you guys all have issues. And I know drugs make you do stupid [ __ ] things, but I got to get some closure for them first. You understand? So, just tell me exactly what happened that day and let's start over and forget all the [ __ ] the last 45 minutes. Is that fair? Let's start over. Go ahead. >> No, everything is accurate. I'm just trying to remember where the hell we went. Like I said, I wasn't paying attention. I just know. >> Were you there when you moved the truck around the back of the house? >> Yes. >> Okay. Where did he park the truck? At the back of the house. >> Do you understand? We know a little more what we're telling you. It was at the back that >> What did you guys load into the truck? >> Look at me. You don't have to think about it. You were there. >> I'm sure every day you you you know what'd you load in the back of the truck. All right. I didn't want no part of this. I really didn't. And that's why I don't have nothing to do with him. But where he dumped it, I don't know. I mean, I know I was there, but I don't know where he put it. I just know his it was on a railro tracks and it was a trucking company on the other side. And that's why when we got back, I walked. Okay. >> What was she wrapped up in? Oh, plastic and a blanket. >> What color is the blanket? Why is flowers? >> Okay. What type of blanket is it? Do you know what I mean? Thinner ones, bigger ones. >> We'll we'll just try it. >> Okay. But that's why that mean from the house. How was she removed from the house? >> On the back of the truck. >> Huh? >> On the back of the truck. >> Okay. Where was she when you guys removed her from the house? >> In her uh in her uh in her bedroom. >> Where at? In her bedroom. >> On her bed. >> Okay. >> How were you made aware that she was up there? >> He called me. >> What did he tell you happened? >> He just said he needed my help. And I was like, "For what?" He goes, "Just I need your help." And then when we got back, I was like, "Fuck." >> Is Heather there at this point? >> Mhm. Okay. Then what goes on? Is she wrapped up at this point or is she just laying there? >> Seems kind of wrapped up. Okay. >> Did he tell you what happened? >> What did he tell you happened? >> He uh I guess they were talking and uh something about said something to her. He got mad and hold the gun out and she said he accidentally pulled the triggers while he shot. >> Did you see her body? Did you see a bullet hole? Where was the bullet hole? >> In her head. >> In her head? >> Oh, I didn't see the actual hole. I just seen the blood off her head. And just a hole in the phone. >> In the what? >> In her phone. >> In her phone. Okay. So, are you assuming there was two shots or one shot? >> One. >> Okay. >> And where was she positioned on the bed? >> Kind of half on, half off. >> Okay. >> Like, like they tried to do it by themselves. >> Like what? >> Like tried to do it by themselves. >> Trying to move her. Like I said, I didn't want to be no part of it, but I >> So, this is Say this is the the bed, right? You get that? >> Okay. Laying this way. >> Laying this way. Okay. Where was her head like on the mattress? Where at though on the mattress point? >> Kind of in the middleish. >> In the middle. So, you're saying like right in here? And which direction is her feet? Closer to the door or the other side of the bedroom? >> Switch door. >> Okay. She already wrapped up at that point or no, >> kind of just halfway part. Okay. Where's the gun at? >> Yeah, >> in his pants. >> They were in in his pants. What kind of gun was it? >> Uh, I don't know. No, it was a 9 mm. >> 9 mm. How do you know it was 9 mm? >> Cuz they said it was >> uh Do you know guns very well? Was it a revolver or semi-automatic? >> Semi. >> Semi-automatic. >> He had clip for it. >> And that's how >> How'd you get her out? through the truck with the truck. >> Okay. I mean, how do you get out of the house? Take me through that. >> Uh he he would had uh he was up front drag her and he just had me help shift the feet. >> Shift the feet. So, she went head first. >> Okay. Did you guys carry down the steps or drag her down the steps? >> Okay. Was there any blood on the outside of this blanket? Very little. >> Very little. >> He was pissed off about it. >> Why was he pissed off? >> Cuz I wouldn't help cuz I wasn't cuz I was trying to refuse to help. >> Where's Heather during all this? >> Uh downstairs. He was screaming at her, too. >> What was she doing wrong or correct or >> I don't know. That's just what I'm saying. He It don't matter what we were doing. He was just getting pissed off. That's why I didn't That's why I made my dad go with me to get my bag was you afraid? >> Mhm. >> Were you there when she was killed? >> No. >> What time do you think he picked you up that day? >> I want to say it was like noonish. Noon. >> How long do you think was she dead when you got there? She wasn't. How long do you think she had been dead? Or did he tell you how long she had been dead? He said uh it he had had time to go pick Heather up. So I know that. >> So you don't think Heather was there when she was killed? But Heather's fully aware what happened and Heather's rides with you guys. And like I said, we were both scared. So Randy, why don't you just call us and say, "Hey, something horrible happened." What does he threaten me? >> What he threaten you with? said he was uh coming for blood if I said anything. >> It's very important if you can remember where she's at. We got to go get her. >> I don't You're already through the worst part of it. >> I know, dude. >> When you backed up, did you back up to a wood line? Did you back up to what? >> Yes, we went down. Like I said, we went down the railroad tracks. >> You were actually on the railroad tracks. >> And there's a trucking company nearby. >> Mhm. >> How far do you think you drove? It's in between two roads. Two roads. So the tracks obviously transverse those two roads. So you and you drove this way and there's a trucking company somewhere. How where'd you put her in relation to the railroad tracks? >> She's right there by the brush. >> By the brush. Okay. >> Cuz he was wanting to uh set her on fire. I'm like, dude, I want no part of this. >> And where's Heather when you unload her? Right there. >> Do you know what he did with the gun? >> He still has. >> And do you recall where he's at now? Very important. >> No. Um I'm scared he'd go out to my garage at night. >> Have you talked to him since? >> No. He had your phone at that point though at that your extra phone. What's the real What's the falling out really over >> that? Okay. >> Well, that and like I said, it started when I showed up that morning and he jumped on me. >> Okay. >> And you know, so he's already agitated that morning. >> Yeah. And you said why did he shoot her in the head? >> What did he say? She's that she grabbed the phone or something and then >> she was uh cuz something about she was just right in her mouth and he and he pulled the gun and then uh um she said she was calling the cops and he said he just he said he was had it like he was going to pull on himself and then he just put it to her and pulled it for You need anything else to address or >> I can find that place. My phone back in with it in a minute. Okay. Hey Randy, thank you for doing the right thing, brother. I really appreciate it. It's not easy. >> Okay. I don't want to give you your phone back because it's evidence and and there's just certain things. Is it okay if I open it up this point? >> Yeah, go ahead. Just wipe >> go. Just go to I don't want to wipe mine now. Yeah. >> To go to goo Google Google Maps. >> Okay. It's one of your apps, I'm assuming. >> Yeah, >> right there. Maps right there. Did you Did you pin drop it? >> No, but my phone There's a >> It's going to show everywhere you went, right? >> Yes. I almost forgot about that. your data in maps. Hopefully set up on this new phone. >> It's going. I think it's trying to load. You see that? >> Find him and put him away. >> I'm sorry. >> Find him and put him away before he hurt somebody else. We're working on that right now. We appreciate you helping with that. All right. >> Connect the maps. Let's try again. >> Your reception might be a little shitty in here, so we'll give it another try. You're okay with me accessing all this, right? >> Yeah. I'm not [ __ ] losing. >> How far away do you think it was that you drove from the house? >> Was it like I said, 10, 20 minutes? I don't know. We were going down all these roads. I don't I'm not like I said I'm not familiar where we were where we were. >> Okay. I mean that was the honest I don't know where it's at. >> When you guys um when you guys pulled out which way did you go? >> We went turned right out of the house. >> Turn right. So that's out towards Columbus Avenue, right? Where did you Which way did you go once you got to Columbus? >> Do we go left or do we go right? >> If you go left, it's going to take you down towards the lake, right? If you go right, it's going to take you down towards Shinley. >> I think we got >> over towards >> I don't know if we got >> Nicole's house, right? I don't know if we got on a freeway at the I know we got on a freeway when we went to Chad to look for Chad, but that was prior to this. All right, here we go. So, back to the Oh, it's going to show you that we got to go back. >> Oh [ __ ] Dates. >> Hold on. Let's go back into here. >> Go to your timeline. It's connecting now. It's okay if I try to find that date. >> All right. Let's look at this. Wait, hold on. Hold on. There today. I think what we could do is go back to another date. Let's give it a minute. It's running a little slow. There's yesterday. And this was all on Wednesday. You guys can go back and move her again or anything crazy like that. >> But that's why he was saying I screwed him cuz I wouldn't continue helping. >> So, do you think he went back and did something else with her? I have no idea. Okay, so here's Wednesday, September 8th. Just kind of an egg. Try the knife. So, it's just coming off the blue line. Great English. So did you go down to the harbor on that day down by Renex? remember walking down there. I walk all the time. Like I said, they took my drug. So Why is it not showing? I think it's going to be the Y. Just for some reason, it's not registering showing up right now. We'll try to figure it out here. Just give me a minute. All right. Did you have a phone with you when you guys took the drive out there? He get has he got any contact with you about covering stories up or anything like that since then? Just be honest if he has. Like I said, she doesn't even show you going over there on you. So when what day was it for connect? You're thinking Tuesday is what you told me for connect. So it was the day after that. It was the day after we went to connect. Okay. Because when we went to connect, that's when I went to connect, I went to Nicholls and was helping to work from the truck and then Jack took me home. Can you call my dad and ask him what day it was? He got woke me up that he got robbed. Yeah, just give me a minute here. >> Yeah, the eighth cuz you have no trips on the other dates, just so you know. Today's Monday, right? >> Mhm. to be ninth. The other night there's nothing. Does that make sense? You have no activity on the night. >> All right. Just sit tight for me. Okay. All right. Hey, Randy. Just a thought. Apparently something. Did you by chance know what you were going to go do? Maybe should location services off on your phone. Just be honest. Cuz it'll show us when we do a process on this. If if you shut that [ __ ] off, you know what I mean? These phones are way smarter than I am. And it's going to log everything you did that day. >> [ __ ] it should have been on. >> It's not on there. It doesn't even show your visit over there that day. So, I'm thinking either your phone just didn't pick up your, you know, your data. Maybe location services were turned off. [ __ ] you might turn your phone off. You shut your phone off by chance. >> No, I was darn it. >> Do you remember walking down to the harbor that day? Is that the same day? Like I said, I walked a couple times. Let me go to the text messaging and go to for my dad with me and my dad. >> Am I okay to go ahead and do that? Uh >> go to my dad. >> Okay. What do you got listed as? Dad. >> Oh, that's easy enough, buddy. >> Uh what am I looking for here? What would the message been? >> There's a couple. We got to go back and forth, but that's what I said. I won't touch it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Trying to find the dates. I'm trying to go back a little bit. Uh, we should get a date here. Wednesday, September 8th. Go >> this way. Go. This is for me without getting in an argument over here. Saturday. It's the same day you're back over there in the afternoon and all the friends show up. >> That that morning. >> That morning that you took her. Okay. >> All right. I know what day that is because we have their statements. >> Okay. >> Just not showing up then. Okay. And when we went to connect, it was the next morning. Okay. And like I said, everything's McDonald's Harbor, not Harbor Freight. Uh with the mall camera that it'll show also. It was the next morning after that. >> Did you really get Tractor Supply? >> Why'd you go over there? >> Picked that up. Did it try to have anything to do with this? >> Nothing at all. >> No. >> If we took you over to the house on 14th and we said, "Hey, let's leave from here." >> Please. >> Okay. Say we took you to the area of East 14th and we said, "Hey, it's very important, Randy, try to take us where you think you're at. You think you can get us in the general area of where he went?" No. >> How honestly, this is really, really important. How far do you think it is from her house to where you dumped her driving? >> It wasn't that far. >> Half >> or not that far? >> It had to be less. Like I said, he he zigzags it just I know. >> Did you get on any freeways? >> On the way past the golf. >> Past the golf. >> I remember coming I remember golf. Which portion of the Gulf did you go through or over? Do you remember? >> It's vehicle down through the stop sign turn right. It's that way. Is there a trucking company out there by railroad tracks in between two roads? >> So you you mentioned Circle P. You talking about Circle Camp Main Avenue? >> Mhm. >> Okay. That's Plymouth Ridge Road that goes east and goes down through the Gulf. >> Is that what you're talking about? Yeah. When you come through the golf. >> Mhm. >> But that's all we've done redone. >> Mhm. >> See, one time went straight. Next time when I turn, it's back up in there somewhere. >> But it's not that far from there. >> Okay. So, what route did you go down main Avenue to Plymouth Ridge Road or did you go? >> I just remember coming to the G. >> You think you're off of State Road over there? You know where State Road is? Okay. Do you think you're off of State Road? because there's a set of tracks that go over, you know, that go across state road down there and there's a couple companies over there. I guess here's a question for you. When you turned off the road onto the tracks, how far did you guys drive down the side of the railroad tracks before you came to a stop? >> It's in between two roads. >> Okay. But how far did you go? You know, was it a 10-second drive? How far between those two roads? Not the middle of the two roads. >> And how long did it take you to get from one road to the other one? >> Dave Bradbury will know where it's at. >> Why would he know? >> Cuz I like I said, Dan said that they go fishing there all the time. >> Okay. It's a a pond. >> Why don't we do this? Why don't we go for a ride? We'll get down in that area. You might know it. Okay. I >> I really won't, sir. tracks, >> huh? >> You won't know the railroad tracks. >> It's really important. >> I want to take you there. That's why I just I just gave you the information. I know Barry and ask where he goes fishing at. >> It's a little more complicated just calling him and saying that. Okay. If I call David, if I call Bradber, hey buddy, where do you go fishing all the time? Yes, cuz he's probably aware of what happened. Is that correct? >> Who else are you aware of that knows about this? >> He said Dave did, but >> I'm telling you, Dav, cuz he burned Dave's garage down. >> Okay. >> Listen, daylight when you went there, right? >> Mhm. Okay. I think if we get in the area, you might be able to go, "Hey, I remember that." Because you're remembering certain things. Was there a body of water right by it? >> Yeah, there was. Yes. >> You're talking about a pond, right? Pond or a river? >> Pond. >> Okay. You're going down the railroad track. >> How far do you think you drove from that road till you came to a stop? 10 seconds, 20 seconds, a minute, 3 minutes, 4 minutes? You get what I'm getting at? >> In the 2021 Ashtabella County case, Randall D. Campbell was originally charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse for his role after the shooting death of Crystal Garney. He pleaded guilty in 2022 to one count of gross abuse of a corpse, a fifth degree felony under an agreement that he testify truthfully against codefendant Heather Tinker with a stipulated recommendation of 12 months in prison. Sentencing was still pending in the August 29th, 2022 prosecutor release, and no later public record reviewed here confirms the final imposition or a current custody status. He was not convicted of the killing.
