So, you tell me you love her, but yet even after all those things that we know about, we still want to believe that you loved her and that you honestly did not intend for this to happen. But now, you're lying, and you're laughing. >> Spoiler details are in the video description and the full results of all charges in the case are laid out at the end of the video. >> So, we talked about you had made the comment to me about how a lot of things in your phone were in Japanese and you questioned how we would be able to translate that. And I remember I said I I made the comment to you about well, I can't read it, but we'll figure it out. So, we have the ability to be able to translate that into English so that we can then read that. And most of these searches that that we're concerned about were in Japanese and then deleted from your phone. And one of them was specifically about hurting Amaliji's dog. >> I never I never searched about it. I never searched that. Please show me. >> From all from all from everybody we have talked to, they have said you're a really technology kind of guy. >> Who? >> Everybody. >> Why? >> In fact, somebody said you could make Alfredo with a shoestring. They said that's how good you are with electronics. >> How? Uh how like >> Are you good with the phone the phones and are you kind of a a tech wizard? >> No, I never I never >> How old are you again? >> I'm 28 or 29, something. >> People around your age are usually pretty good with electronics. >> Um using the text messaging, whoever just do that. >> You You know, my mom text messages, I mean that doesn't take a lot. So, let me ask you. Are you familiar with cell phone towers? >> Cell phone tower I don't know what is a cell phone towers. >> You don't know what a cell phone tower is? You're going for your master's degree and you're telling me you don't know what a cell phone tower is? >> No, I mean I probably know them Korean, but I don't know that in English. >> So, and all over all over the world >> Yes. >> cell phone tower is what it is. It's a tower cell phones hit off of, right? >> So, our phone uses that tower to communicate. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Something like uh transmit to >> Yes. >> Yes. >> Very much so. >> Okay. So, >> So, you know, if you're driving down the road, there's a cell phone tower here, here, here, here, here, here. You know, that road's all over the place. As you start driving, your phone you get a text message, a phone call, >> Mhm. >> it's looking for that closest tower to communicate with. >> Okay. >> You know, if you start driving here, you're going to leave this tower and it's going to latch onto that tower. >> Okay. >> It's kind of how phones work. >> I don't know how many cell phone towers or something like that, yeah. >> So, let me ask you. We're going to get it We got We We already got a a warrant for your cell phone records. >> Yes. >> When we you do those records, we're going to find out every cell phone tower that your phone has communicated with. >> Okay. >> For the past week, several weeks. >> Okay. >> This weekend is that cell phone tower that's closest to Maddie's house ever going to show that it communicated with your cell phone? >> Communicated with the cell phone that's at Maddie's house? >> Yeah. >> No, not at all. Um so, the Monday Waukesha >> Yeah. >> Um I went to just like check >> Monday's irrelevant. I don't care about Monday. I care about Friday and Saturday. >> Saturday Friday, Saturday. Friday What's that called? Yeah, Friday I So, Friday So, Thursday and Friday I went to Whitewater. >> Mhm. >> And Friday my friend my military friend needs to um give him a ride. So, I gave him a ride in not not sure not sure time in Oconomowoc. >> He needed a ride or you gave him a ride? >> He. >> Okay. >> He needed a ride. So, I went to there back to Yeah, back to uh Waukesha. Not Waukesha. So, I was going back to the highway. Cuz I don't know I got a GPS or something like that. I was so hungry. And I just ate in the China Buffet. >> Good place, by the way. >> Mhm. Yeah, it's a good place. [snorts] A good price. Yeah. >> So, what time was that? >> That time was probably 3:00 3:00 3:00. Yeah, I went to there China Buffet. And I just taking the road and just [snorts] Yeah, I taking the road of the broom the broom I wrote. >> Mhm. >> And um go straight to the like Metro Market TJ Maxx something like that because um Should I buy something TJ Maxx or whatever something drink and then I No, I need to go to the Quest Diagnostics for the drug test. So, I just paid to there straight away. Yeah, that's why you go >> Did you go shopping at Metro Market at all? >> No. >> On Friday? >> No, not at all. Um I bought Dollar Deals after Quest Diagnostics something the kitchen appliances there. >> Where? >> The two blocks away. Uh this is a mall the Kohl's over there. So, that's that's next door. It is a Dollar Deals. So, I just bought the $2 $2. Yeah, I just there. The that is a that is a aisle over there for the wine. It's >> So, you never went to go buy vodka? >> What? >> You >> I I I didn't buy a vodka. >> Then why did you look it up? >> Huh? >> You know what I asked? >> Yeah, I just looked at a vodka. Um That's more cheap cheapest vodka but there's no the the reason. I looked at the internet. So, I bought the American whiskey twice twice. >> When was this? >> Huh? >> When was this? You You heard the question. When was this? >> I went to grocery shopping. So, that thing. >> That day? >> Or I just looked it up. I don't know. I need to look it up the whiskey. I bought the whiskey. My roommate know that I don't drink whiskey. >> So, when when the neighbor thinks your car is there, is your cell phone tower is your cell phone going to be communicating with any towers near Maddie's house? >> No. Never been to the house because I wasn't out there. >> Are you even curious about the time frame? >> I'm curious You mean You mean the 3:00 p.m. the I just ate the something food at the time? >> Maybe later in the day. Were you there later? >> I've never been to never been to after that. I just get food. I've never been to the house. I've never been to. >> [snorts] >> So, speaking of your roommate, is he home tonight? >> About what? >> Your roommate. >> Yes. >> Is he home? >> He I think he's the he's the one, but he bought the house like a few months ago. That's why I didn't say anything. >> But, is he home right now? Is he at home? >> I think he's going to Chicago for Thanksgiving. >> So, when is he leaving? >> I don't know. I have to ask. >> Was he leaving today or tomorrow? Did he >> He usually work during during the semester. >> So, does he work tomorrow? >> I don't know. I have to ask him. >> So, do you think he's going to be at home right now? >> I believe so, but yeah, I have his old phone, though, so I can't contact him. >> What about your cousin's house? >> Cousin's house? >> Mhm. >> They are what? >> Are they home right now? >> Yeah, probably because of kids. >> How old are the children? >> [clears throat] >> So here it is. So here is what's going on. We have two different sets of teams going to your cousin's and to your roommate's house to execute a search warrant. >> Okay. >> To look for evidence related to this case. >> Okay. >> What do you think we're going to find? And I'm not bullshitting you. They are on their way right now. They are going to They are going to go through that house with a fine-tooth comb. >> Comb? What is a comb? >> It's just a figure of speech. >> Oh. >> They are going to be very meticulous >> Okay. >> in their search. >> Yeah, I Yeah, please go through that. Please. >> Okay. >> I'm really I really want they just talk and No. They really My cousin, they know that everything. >> We're not going to talk. We're searching the house. >> Searching? >> We're going to search the house and we're going to search both houses. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Please Yeah. My Uh I just got moving so it's not unpacked. So it's just it's just Nothing much stuff I have right [snorts] now. >> Is there going to be anything there that you think we're going to be interested in? >> Please do that. Please search. >> Well, we're going to. We will. No reason to ask. >> Yeah. >> What about it at your cousin's house? >> Yeah. But Katie's sleeping so please be quiet. >> No. >> No, that's not the way it works. >> I don't feel good. >> I'm going to ask you one time again. Every time we have asked you tough questions today, you lied to us. >> Okay. >> The cell phone tower thing. Is there going to be any difference when we get these records than what that bracelet? >> No. No. No. That's really every time in the bracelet, my phone are together. >> Why is that? >> Why is that? Cuz it's just attached. My bracelet. >> So, theoretically if your bracelet bracelet came off you have to keep your phone by you. >> Mhm. I never think so because >> But you just said they have to be close. >> Um What should I say this this question like uh phone and this This one is just always just with me. >> Mhm. >> You guys know that. >> Yeah. >> And phone is when I go out, I just grab it because I need the GPS to go somewhere. >> So, are we going to find any of Mary's things at your house at either of those houses? >> Mary's things? Mary's things in my house? >> So, no no. >> The search it. Yeah, there's nothing. Because only she packed up all my clothes in the one bag. I know, three bags. That's it. Just please search it. >> Do you have any weapons at your house? >> No. Not at all. >> Any guns, knives, swords, samurai swords? Tasers? >> No, not at all. >> Pepper spray, anything like that? >> Not at all. >> Have you ever wanted to buy any of those things? >> Uh for defending myself. For >> For I'm sorry? >> Defending myself. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> When did you think about buying something and what did you think about buying? >> I think I searched it 2 days ago. 2 or 3 days ago for that um Since the like the West Alleys, something like kind of scary. So >> The what? >> Since Since the like the West Alleys, I live the area is so scary. So I searched >> So what did you search? >> Taser gun. Right. Taser gun, stun gun. Um 10 minutes how how um how how long does it take like 10 minutes or 1 minute? I don't know. Yeah, but I didn't buy. >> Did you go anywhere looking for it? >> No, I didn't anywhere looking for it. I just like searched everything. >> So you admitted that you weren't being 100% honest with us earlier. >> Yes. >> Are you being 100% honest with us now? >> Right now, yes. I just I searched the stun or taser or I just uh watched a bunch of the YouTube video. Just >> When did you try to take your bracelet off? >> What? >> When did you try to take your GPS unit off? >> Try to it off. Uh you mean the first time? >> Whenever Whenever did you try to take it off? >> Uh when my parents were visiting, um she my dad is like, "Hey, uh she was heartbroken when I just did that." And she she's like, "Why don't you use a shoehorn?" And no, it's not going to work. >> Okay. >> Yeah. And because they as you see, this is really really tight. And uh there's no way uh uh unless I just cut my ankle. >> So, when did you say your parents were in town? >> Um November November 8th or rather November 2nd [snorts] or 3rd. They left my birthday. >> And the 6th? >> Yeah, 6th or 6th 6th or 7th. Yeah. >> So, when your dad was here, you tried to take it off with a shoehorn? >> No, I actually um they don't have a shoehorn at all. So. >> But you had mentioned that you tried to take it off. How did you try to take it off? >> Just like with my my like my strength. It doesn't work. >> What about the next time you tried to take it off? >> Next time? >> Mhm. >> Next time I didn't. >> You said the first time, so that would mean that there's probably a second time. So, when was the second time you tried to take it off? >> Um shoehorn. >> Mhm. >> Thing is that while I was sleeping, it's just like because when I just sleep, I just like really touch everything there. I just like have this using my the other foot. It just like this. But it doesn't work at all, you know, like Yes. >> I want to believe you. >> What? >> I I want to believe you. >> Yeah, please believe me. >> I don't. >> Oh. >> I want to. And I don't. >> But this is >> I'm going to just not making sense, man. It's just not I I We we've tried. We've tried to think about this over and over. >> How about the bracelet? The bracelet the Pakistan know that is is it cannot be it can be beat. >> How? >> be beat. You watched YouTube videos on it. >> It doesn't work. I tried that. It doesn't work and that's different devices. >> Can I Can I There's nothing funny about this. >> I [snorts] know it's not funny. But I tried. Honestly, I said I tried. Nothing work. >> I know. But here's the thing. We know what you've tried. You have looked it up. Around the time your wife was murdered, you're looking up about stun guns and the effect it has on a human being. >> What? >> You're looking up things about killing your dog or a dog with your breed your breed. >> I really want to I want to really uh >> You were stabbed in the neck. >> Um that one, yeah, I was so depressed. >> But you have lied to us over and over and over. How are we supposed to believe that you were contemplating suicide but yet you denied everything and you have lied straight to my face. We told you in the very beginning that we would be honest with you and we expected the same from you. But you have sat here and lied to us over and over and over. >> What lie you're just talking about, man? >> When we asked you about internet searches >> Internet search There's a bunch of internet search. >> You know what? I'm I'm just sad. I'm really sad because we We just want to get right with you, man. >> Oh, yeah. She did nothing but love you. She had her demons and her struggles. But in the end, one of her biggest demons was loving you. She loved you too much. >> How? How did she keep running back to you? >> About what? >> She kept coming back to you. >> Then why did she >> She kept coming back to you even though you you you choked her. >> What? >> Even though you bit her. Even even though all those things you did to her, you slashed her tire. >> Gave her black eyes, slashed her tire. >> And you w m, you slashed her tire. >> What does that mean? >> You cut her tire. >> You cut her tire. >> No. I didn't. >> You gave her a black eye. >> A black eye? That was That was happening uh when I was trying to wake her up. It just happened. >> How do you give someone a black eye when you try to wake them up? So you tell me you love her, but yet even after all those things that we know about, we still want to believe that you loved her, and that you honestly did not intend for this to happen. But now you're lying, and you're laughing, and you're you're thinking that we're we're being mean to you. >> Okay, sir. When that happened, I never know that about. >> Did your dad love your mom like this? >> What? >> Did your dad love your mom like you loved Maddie? Did your dad wake your mom up by punching her in the face and giving her black eye? >> Um when I was five, I saw that my dad used violence before. >> Okay. >> But I just made >> So >> I made it >> Okay, then. >> I tried to not be like like that. >> But you weren't like that. You would hurt Maddie. >> That one Yeah, I I acknowledge it. I used violence. Um the I think it's in August 26th 20 23rd. 22nd. Yeah, it's now the September 22nd. >> So she loved you. And and and you know what? Even after you used violence against her and all those times you weren't supposed to contact her you find her at UWM and you find her eating lunch in the cafeteria. She still loved you. She loved you. She loved you. She loved you. Even 10 days ago she was talking about wanting to make it work with you. Even after she filed for divorce. She loved you so much. She was still talking about trying to make it work with you. >> How can that Well, why is she not divorcing violence then? It doesn't make any sense. Like she >> Like you said before. You love You love somebody. Can't tell your heart to stop. No matter how much she No matter how much she knew that this was a bad relationship to be in she loved you. >> We're in a bad relationship. >> She's dead. That's not a good relationship. She's dead and every everything that we have so far says that you have knowledge of this and that you just won't take responsibility. That you just will not be a man and tell us what happened that night cuz we don't think you went over there with that intent. And you won't even do it for Maddie. >> Could you look at your mom right now? >> Look at your mom right now. >> Mhm. >> How what does that mean? >> Can you look at Can you look in the mirror and know that you're being honest right now? >> I want to Yeah. >> Really? >> Yes. >> Well, you haven't been honest with us though. >> Yes, I >> No, Wesley. You haven't even 90% honest with us. I want I want We want to believe you. >> I really want you guys to talk about killing dog or something like that and really no idea. Really want to say that in my eyes. Really? >> So, how do you explain this? >> Explain what? >> Sorry. Did you call anybody today? >> Call? Yes. >> Who'd you call? >> pastors >> Just your pastors. Did you call your Did you call your mom and dad? >> Yes. She just showed me up. heads up >> What did you tell your mom? >> What did I tell my mom? >> Yeah. >> That it's all right and I'm trying to be okay and I will get a job working. Everything. Like so my principal worried about me. She every time send me the um church and verse. >> Hey, you know what? There's something missing there. There's something big missing that you allegedly just found out about today. Did you have to actually tell your mom that Maddie's dead? >> What? >> Did you tell Did you tell your mom that Maddie was dead? >> Tell my mom? Oh, I just I got a call from the sergeant first class there. I told my mom after the show and yeah. Why didn't you just tell me that a minute ago? >> I told my my mom after the >> You told your mom what? That she was dead? >> show and yeah. >> Why didn't you just tell me that a minute ago? I asked you what you told her. >> About what? >> I asked you what you told your mom. You didn't tell me that at first. That's something big. That's usually the biggest news. >> Your wife is dead. >> My what? My wife? >> Your wife is dead. >> Well, I don't have a wife. Someone I can't live without is dead. >> What's the point right now? Um I mean, talk to my mom. >> Who else did you tell? >> Huh? >> Who else did you tell? >> Who else? Um Um >> Did you tell your cousin? >> My pastor My pastor. Cuz I got a phone call 9:00 a.m. >> Did you tell your cousin? >> Cousin? >> Yes. Did you call anybody today? >> Um yes. And what time was it? >> Did you tell your roommate? >> No, I haven't met your roommate today. Um yeah. >> Cuz I was on my way home and you guys are just taking me off to just follow you guys. >> So, I >> I'm just thinking that if somebody called me and told me my husband was was dead, I'd be calling everybody and I would be heartbroken. >> Do you guys believe that you are a good person? And be honest. And stop saying you're going to going to tell >> I am. I am. I am telling truth. The internet search, I can explain everything. >> Well, I don't want to sit here and do it. I don't want to handfeed you the information we're looking for. Did you search any weapons? Nope. Did you search Kaser? Yep. Did you search Manny's being sexually assaulted? Did you search something like that? Nope. Well, then I don't >> confused for you know what? >> You're not confused. Have you ever ever searched a hospital with a friend's name with sexual assault? >> Absolutely not. >> I mean, I searched some crazy stuff in my day, but I never ever searched somebody that I know a hospital and sexual assault. That's just Yeah, absolutely not. Cuz you work with her. >> You told me you didn't know where she You didn't know what her job was at. >> No, I I her friend her relative friend. That's what I was came up with in my head. And I don't know why you guys don't believe that. Well, why does it matter for? Like I didn't There's nothing with like um the money or something. Uh I just look it up. For what? I mean >> Because you're looking at ways for somebody to die. And at the same time-ish your wife dies, you don't think that's a coincidence? You don't think that that should cause us some concern? Because if I go home and search poisoning and he comes to my house tomorrow and my husband is dead from poisoning you don't think that maybe I did it? Okay. >> How can you say that? How can you honestly sit there and lie to us like that? >> I mean I'm not lying. >> You think that's just a coincidence? >> It's a coincidence. I I actually saw her It was a really busy day. Take um gave gave my friend a ride that's going to drove past that's going to the lady Pick 'n Save and just go home. >> Oh, yeah. >> You said you didn't go to Pick 'n Save. >> No, I >> I asked you and you said you didn't go to Pick 'n Save. Now you did go to Pick 'n Save? >> I don't know the girl I need to show them my bank account is there. say that? Then I know that. How can I remember all of the things? So, what do you >> Again, I want you to tell me. What do you think we we are suspecting you of? >> What? I'm sorry. >> How can I word this? >> Why are we here right now? >> Cuz you guys are s- >> What are we investigating? >> Investigating something me. >> What are we trying to figure out happened? So, something happened. >> Yes. >> What are we trying to figure out happened? >> I think that you guys want on my timeline. The timeline >> What What What happened to Maddie? What do What do we know happened to Maddie? I'm not asking I'm not asking what you think or or what you believe. We What happened to Maddie? Maddie's what? >> She She died. >> How? >> She died. >> How did she >> She didn't kill herself. She didn't commit suicide. She was what? >> She I don't know. I never heard about that how she died. I I asked >> I already told you time and time again. >> We've told you. We've told you several times. Maddie was >> Maddie was what? Still remember. >> You can't even allow yourself to say it. >> I mean, if you can't be honest with us, I don't >> I'm I just maybe missed the point for you guys sending it the time that >> You can't even say the words that Maddie was murdered. You can't even say it Maddie was murdered. >> Maddie was murdered, but >> Sure. Of course, that's right. >> Okay. I don't know how. >> We didn't ask you how. >> You say how. >> I'm not going to tell you how. >> So, how? You know how. >> You know. >> No. >> Yeah, you do. >> No. >> Yeah, you do. >> I don't know. >> Yeah, you do. You do, and we know you do, and that's why you're sitting in those cuffs. >> No. >> You can sigh all you want. Something You can sigh all you want. It's not going to change the fact that we know more than you think we do. You're not a victim in this. Uh you're not. You're really not. Poor Song Daniel, his girl, his wife is an alcoholic. And everything that he did to her was to help her. I'm calling you out on that. >> Mhm. >> I'm calling you out. >> No. >> No. You >> We're not Eric. We're not going to sit here and say, "My daughter is a piece of [ __ ] and she's a drunk." I'm not going to sit here and give you every excuse. I call [ __ ] Because you know what? She didn't deserve to get hit. Because no matter what poor choice she made about drinking, nobody deserves to have a black eye from the person that they love more than anything in the world. Your job as a husband is to protect that woman. And instead, you punched her in the face and gave her a black eye. >> You don't use the face at all. >> Okay. >> I didn't. >> You slapped her in the face and gave her a black eye. >> I slapped. >> Okay. So, is is that acceptable? >> What? >> Is that okay? Is it okay to slap her? >> Of course not. That's why I got so upset. >> Is that what you do with somebody that you love? Does God say it's okay to slap somebody that you love? >> No. It's not. >> Absolutely not. Did Maddie deserve that? >> No. >> Maddie made mistakes. Maddie drank more than she should have, but she did not deserve to be hit by somebody that she loved. >> Right. That's how I determine I just He's a violent >> And that's what happened this weekend, violence. >> What? That's what happened when you went over there. >> No, I didn't. >> Violence. >> I don't believe him. >> No. >> I do a little bit. >> The difference between first degree intentional homicide and reckless homicide are world of difference, my friend. At this point, we have nothing more to believe than that you went over there with the intention to kill Maddie. And it didn't seem to be >> mean, it makes sense, right? She filed for divorce. She was going to sell the condo. She was going to move home. If you're not going to be with me, if I can't have you, nobody can. >> Must've been a coincidence. Right right there in front of the driveway. >> If I can't have you, nobody can. It's unfortunate cuz I really wanted to believe. >> I >> I really, God, did I want to believe. >> Some people sat there and said something. He's a bad person. And some sat there and said that you're a great guy. We didn't know what to believe. I didn't want to believe it, but now I'm I guess I know which way I'm leaning. >> Yeah. Because of the good guy? Let's say yes. >> He's got to be honest [clears throat] with Maddie. He's got to be honest with Maddie. He did you right by her. She did you right by him all these years. >> Absolutely. It's too bad. Yeah. But really, Honestly, I'm going to stand prayer for her safety. And I'm going to hope that she finds peace. >> Our job is for Our job is Maddie. That's our job. >> Maddie's our job? >> Maddie's our job. Maddie's Maddie's for us to be in Maddie's voice and to be her her protector now is on us. So, I I don't know. I To me, I'm seeing someone who tried to explain that she used violence in the past and then try and condone and then try and justify it. For Maddie, I can't listen to that anymore. >> I mean, honestly, if you're going to give me a black eye to wake me up, what are you going to do if I'm going to leave you? It makes sense. It's just unfortunate. That's all it is. So. All right. >> After his arrest in November 2018, Sunku Kim was charged with first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of felony bail jumping in connection with Madeline Kim's death. Along with the earlier domestic violence offenses that were consolidated for trial. Following a 10-day jury trial in Waukesha County Circuit Court, he was convicted of all charges on October 9th, 2020. On October 2020, Judge J. Arthur Melvin III sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Kim appealed the convictions. On June 3rd, 2026, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, District 2, affirmed the circuit court judgments in full. As of August 2026, he remains incarcerated under that life sentence with no parole eligibility.
