You didn't have to pull out the pepper spray. You didn't have to continue to misgender me. >> Please step in. Watch your head. >> Do not push me. >> The officer was initially investigating a stolen vehicle when the confrontation began. After Vic became increasingly agitated, backup was requested, and the situation escalated into repeated commands, pepper spray warnings, physical resistance, and ultimately a taserass assisted arrest. >> What was your involvement in this? I mean, actually, first the property manager, I guess. Um, >> was she like ever like >> Jay is consistently done here. >> Oh yeah, you um >> but like tonight like for this particular incident, was her like frustration or anything addressed towards you or >> No, we just heard about the screaming so we came down. >> Okay. >> Um secondhand I've heard uh somebody in the somebody in the subway may have may have misgendered her. Um and that sparked it off. And then when I came down here, Jay was in the corner and Riley was standing uh next to her or like in front of her. Okay. >> You know, then everything started happening where things got louder. Um I tried to intervene just to calm Jay down and then Jay just got worse and so I was like, "I can't help you now cuz now I feel unsafe." >> Okay. >> Um and so I backed off and just let Riley do his thing. Some people started to come by with cameras and stuff. So I kind of focused my attention to that and I was just like, "Hey guys, can't be here recording. Need you to move." >> So basically just what you told me just like your your involvement in it and like what you saw >> and that you know you told me that you know you saw her like escalating and you felt unsafe. >> It's important that you know you put that in there because basically she was being disorderly. >> Yeah. >> Um and that why that's why Riley wanted to intervene just to make sure. >> Yeah. It was even at the point with her that like I was afraid to step in. So >> Okay. >> Hey, I'm Officer Santos. Did you happen to witness what happened here like 20 30 minutes ago? At least where it started. >> Okay, cool. Can you finish your sandwich and then just talk to me whenever you have a chance? >> All right, >> cool. I appreciate it. >> Hey, so just from your perspective before it started, when the confrontation started, what happened afterwards? >> Okay, so >> I guess the guy I And I wasn't here, right? So from my from what I understand, this all started inside the subway or they were ordering in the subway. >> It did not start in the subway. started right out here, right in front of those doors over there. >> Perfect. [laughter] So, what happened? >> So, what happened was >> there were some kids. >> Okay. >> And the kids were making some remarks about >> about he had an incident on my floor that I witnessed a couple weeks ago. >> Okay. >> Where it was sort of the same setup. He was in the elevator with these guys. That's We'll get there. Let's >> just to make sure we're talking about the student and not the officer, right? Student. The student specifically has had incidents on your floor that you're aware of. >> Yes. today. >> Yeah. And today there was definitely an incident involving another group of kids and him in this area. >> So these were more juvenile kids that were smaller. >> So they don't really have a filter. What I know is that anything will set him over the edge. >> Okay. >> And he believes that >> everyone's like kind of against him. >> Against him. >> Mhm. >> And so because of that fact, he's very belligerent to everyone. >> Okay. I've tried to talk to him before in the elevators and not I don't get much >> not good vibes. >> What ended up happening is that once those kids started making remarks, he obviously reacted back to them. >> Okay. >> And when he reacted back to them, he started getting more and more belligerent. >> Okay. >> And he ended up getting aggressive towards the kids. >> In what way would you say aggressive? Was he yelling at them? Was he shoving them? >> Yelling. >> And then it's the same thing that he did to the first police officer here. He like jerks towards you. >> Okay. and he gets really aggressive like in your face like he's about to throw a punch or he's about to hurt you and so he starts getting jerky and aggressive and so that caused the kids to run out >> so they ran out >> and the kids ran out screaming cuz of course they'd be scared >> and that's when he started walking away the security guard came up >> 23 real quick I'm just going to pause you right there when he made a jerking motion did he have his hands clenched he kind of stepped up into someone's personal bubble like this >> yes that's that's usually what he does >> that's usually what he does >> whenever he'll be getting aggressive >> with both hands >> he'll be like oh And I I know he was holding something when it happened. >> Got it. >> So what? He was holding something. Do you know if it was a stone? >> I think it was like a a bag. >> Just a bag. >> Something a food. >> But he definitely made, you know, as if he was going to fight a bunch of juveniles. >> He he always puts in like the first motion. Got it. And it happened on my floor. He chased some guys out of the elevator and was acting the exact same way. >> Okay. Then what? >> And then when those kids ran out, he started screaming cuz he was very frustrated with everything. and then started walking this way. That's when that security guard came and stopped him. >> Him? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> He went to go. He came here and he started talking to be like, "Hey, you can't do that." >> Like, I'm sure that these things happen, but >> No, they haven't gone back to me on it. You can't. So, he started telling him, "You can't do that." >> Yeah. He came here to talk to him >> and then they were talking. He started He once again started getting aggressive because >> whenever someone tries to talk to him, >> like before, I think it was that man over there. >> Okay. He came down to my floor and he was trying to talk him out of being so violent. He was getting violent towards him then. So he started once again raising his voice to that security guard. And when the first officer came in, security guard backed up >> and it was then just a conversation between him and the first officer. He had his arms down like this. I'm pretty sure >> the officer >> officer. Yes. And he was just talking to him trying to tell him you need to calm down. And so once again, he started raising his voice, getting violent, and they start getting jerky, clenching his fists, and then he made the first jerk towards the officer. Once he saw that there was actual threat here, that he can't be trying to threaten the police officer. >> Yeah. >> He started backing up. He's like, "No, no, no, no, no." And then he kept on switching back and forth between, "No, no, leave me alone." And like, "I hate you." He threw an F-word out. >> Okay. >> Hey, my man. >> Did you Did you complete a statement? >> Did you complete a statement? >> Uh, no. >> No. Okay. Um, what what can you tell me like what you seen in the uh >> So, what's it called? The So, the dude had came in and it was like a group of kids sitting right here. >> Okay. >> So, when he came in like the kids started laughing, I guess. And like um he didn't like they laughing. So, he was like, "Why you guys always laughing at me?" And the volume started going up. >> Do Do you feel like the kids were laughing at him based off >> them laughing at him or not? Cuz they were over there for like a minute talking to each other. So I don't know what they were laughing at, but I heard laughing and then so he came in >> and then like they started going back and forth and the volume started going up. So that's why I came in to try to separate them. The kids started to go outside and he was standing like >> the 26th university for the 29 on the table and started to like chase the kids. So that's when I grabbed him and I put him back inside. Once I put him back inside, I had called a dispatch. >> Okay. >> The dispatch was on the phone 209 still going crazy. still talking. >> I had his phone on speaker. The dispatch heard everything so you could hear the phone call. But when the dispatch was talking to him, the cop had came in and then that's when the officer came in. >> Okay. Jared Vic was taken into custody and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence and disorderly conduct after the confrontation with University of Central Florida police. Vic pleaded not guilty, and court records later showed the cases were closed. Want to watch more videos like this one? Click the one on the screen.
