The truth. >> You want the truth, bro? >> I want the truth. You want the [ __ ] Drew? Yes, please. >> What happens if I tell you that? On July 8th, 2019 in Walaw Wala, Washington, Kobe Hedman was brought in for questioning in connection with the death of Kyle Marts, who had died as a result of first-degree murder. Spoiler details are in the video description, and the full results of all charges in the case are laid out at the end of the video. >> Kobe, where you living at? >> Honestly, don't really have a home right now. We don't really have a home and out it goes. Sometimes uh parts of life they uh get a little strange sometimes and we uh you don't always live where we'd like to live and we kind of just balance out living with friends and bouncing that kind of stuff. >> Where was your last house at? >> My lap house. >> Yeah. Your last home. Your last place you called homes. That's place all. Okay. Okay. Just bounce around wherever. >> No. >> Yeah. All right. Um, what's your birthday? >> 9:27.95. >> Okay. Um, you know, do you know why I want to talk with you? >> Um, not really. Okay. Well, obviously the uh the police over here in Oregon, they contacted you and then there's some situations that took place with some vehicles. Um but what I want to talk with you about is some stuff that happened over in Walaw Wala. Um I know we have some information that's points that you were over in Walaw Wala just recently. Um we talked to some individuals. We have a picture of you from a room tonight when the police contacted you and we showed this to some people that had made contact with you uh in Wal Wall and there's a situation regarding your house that we'd like to inquire about. What's going on with or what you see? Would you observe um the the vehicle that you're in tonight? I don't really know. >> I know this seems like an odd situation to you and it's an odd situation for me too. You know, it's uh it's it's late, but you know, we're all here. We're want to talk and figure out what's going on. This obviously there was something that brought us over here from moral walk cuz it's a couple hour drive. Um, how long had you been in uh Baker City? >> I don't know if I've been Honestly, I didn't even realize we were in Baker City right now. >> Where did you think you were at? >> In between Land and [ __ ] on my way that way. I don't know. >> On the way. Which way? >> [ __ ] I mean towards Baker. To towards Baker. Okay. So, you just you you you made You made it. You're just a little bit shy when you uh when you start. >> Yeah. >> What vehicle were you driving you got up to here? >> [ __ ] >> I was driving a [ __ ] truck. >> Okay. Uh what color was the truck? >> A green truck. Like a green truck. Okay. And whose uh green truck was it? >> Actually, no, it wasn't green. It was [ __ ] It was silver. >> Silver. >> Okay. So, >> it's an F350. >> A silver F350? >> Oh. >> Okay. And uh were you driving that when the police contacted you? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Were you driving any other vehicles tonight? >> No. >> No, you're just driving that one vehicle. >> Okay. And um had you been in contact with any any other vehicles tonight? Yesterday? [ __ ] honestly like I was driving a [ __ ] Jeep, dude. Okay. A Jeep. What kind of Jeep? It's like a Jeep Wrangler or something. The kind with the top comes off. >> Yeah. Okay. Okay. Um Yeah. I was driving the [ __ ] Jeep and then cuz I left the spot [ __ ] like right outside of Baker and I saw the cops and then they [ __ ] turned on their lights and started chasing me and this is all [ __ ] just weird and it sounds like man. So they started chasing you and what happened? >> [ __ ] crashed out and [ __ ] >> Crashed out. Did you take off my foot? You just stay there? >> I stay there. >> Okay. Did you hurt? Did I want to say you have some blood on your face there? >> Do I? >> Just a little bit. >> Not bad. >> No. So, what prompted you to run when the uh when the cops chased you? >> Oh, no. I didn't think I did anything wrong. >> Okay. Do you have a valid driver's license? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay, that's good. It's good. Um, how long and you've been in Waw Wall? >> There's a Christian a program there. >> Mhm. I was there for like I don't know a day. >> You spend the night there? >> Yeah. What's today? >> Today's the uh the 9th. It was the 8th >> when your night started. >> Yeah, I stayed there for like a day. >> The day. Okay. Did you check in under your name? >> It is. >> Okay. Did you eat a couple meals there or just sleep? >> Yes, sir. I ate a couple meals and slept. Got a night dress there. >> Okay. And then what did you uh do when you got up from the first time? >> Um I don't we just hang out outside and sleep. Did you hang who you hang out with? There's this old dude named Wild Bill. There's a dude named like Dexter or something. Dexter. like the TV show. >> Oh, yeah. I think so. >> Where's Camo? >> Where's Camo? >> Yeah. >> And then what else did you do? Is there like a a point we're getting at here? >> Yeah. Well, there's a situation that took place in Wala and you may have witnessed something cuz uh there's a couple gentlemen um who are stationed up next to this house that's in Wala is just down the street from the Christian Aid Center. >> Yeah. that uh there was a a situation that took place in our residence and the two gentlemen that were at the house next to this house situation. They um we contacted these gentlemen and they said, "Yeah, we describe and they described the gentleman that had been at this house that was outside kind of doing some stuff and uh earlier tonight uh they you know we got to send a picture of you." So he showed the picture to the gentleman that were that was at that residence and they confirmed, "Oh yeah, this is the guy that was at the house and uh so you are a witness to this residence where there's a situation that took place." >> Okay. And so we're investigating that. I want to know what you saw, what you observed. Um did you know the people at the house? You know, that kind of stuff. You know, I want you to tell me everything you know because the more information I have, the better I can uh deal with with the situation at hand. >> Um I don't All I know is uh [ __ ] the student needed help with the sprinklers. >> Do you need help? Okay. You know the dude's name? >> Honestly, no. >> Okay. What do you look like? >> Honestly, the [ __ ] the people that you're talking about? >> Mhm. >> What the hell are their names? That's two white dudes, right? >> Two white dudes. Yeah. But I tell you your names with that dog. Remember [ __ ] it might. >> Uh there's a Jeffrey and a Robert. >> Yeah. Well, >> those two dudes are the dudes that [ __ ] like [ __ ] helped me out with getting a job like in the first place. >> They helped you get a job? >> Yeah. I got kicked out of the [ __ ] Christian. That's why. Okay. So they helped you get a job where >> at this [ __ ] place that you said that there's a [ __ ] picture of me or some [ __ ] >> Okay. So they and that's where you're going to do some spring forward. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And um who's the guy that's hired you or who's the person that hired you? >> They said his name was [ __ ] like Kyle or some [ __ ] >> Okay. Um, what Kyle was like? I honestly couldn't even tell you. >> Okay. >> And so you talked with Kyle and what happened? >> [ __ ] I didn't even talk to him. I didn't get paid. You didn't get paid. >> Okay. Um, when you talk to them and get the job, did you start the job or how far did you get into the job? >> The job was [ __ ] >> I don't know. I got exhausted and the [ __ ] job didn't even get finished. >> How far did you get onto it? >> [ __ ] barely. >> Barely. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Barely dug up any [ __ ] Barely dug up anything? No. >> Okay. How far or excuse me, how much was title paid for the job? I don't even think we talked about ways. >> Okay. Just said, "Hey, I just help." I [ __ ] I was there >> like day labor kind of stuff. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um so what tell me about what he described as what he needed from you. >> I just wanted to tear up all his underground sprinklers. >> Just tear the underground sprinklers up. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um and what did you do? Tell me how much work did you do or like describe the stuff that you did. Well, I didn't even have any tools, so I could borrow them from the next time neighbor that you're talking about. I was up for like a couple days, so I barely started digging and then I was done. I was exhausted. Yeah. And then that did you how many times did you go in the house? Just a couple times to talk with Kyle about the job. >> Yeah, I guess. >> I I don't know. I wasn't there obviously. So like it's usually like when you go and you start a job with somebody, you're going to go in there, you know, just to strike the deal or to to figure out, you know, to talk about the plans or something like that, which that's a lot of logical to me. Um, you just go in there one time or you go in there multiple times in the house? >> Go in there two times to get some water and [ __ ] >> Makes sense. Cuz it was pretty warm day today. >> Yeah. Okay. And what was Kyle doing while you were uh you were going to get the water and stuff like that? >> He's in his room sleeping. In his room sleeping. Okay. Just slept the entire time. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Uh did he come out and supervise you? >> No. >> So when you had a job going on and Kyle's in there sleeping, um at what point did you say, "Hey, I'm done with this job. I don't want to do it anymore." >> I didn't talk to him. I just left. >> You just get out of there. >> Yeah. >> And just call it quits. >> Yeah. I was literally exhausted. >> Okay. >> When you cuz when you left, how did you leave? >> What do you mean? >> Did you leave on feet? Did you ride bic? Okay. So would any of the gables that were involved tonight are they going to be related to wall? >> No. >> None of them. Okay, that's good to hear. Obviously, I haven't been out to the cars. I haven't seen anything, but from what I'm told is that one of the vehicles matches a vehicle that was belonging to Kyle in Wal Walla. >> Okay. >> What vehicle did you leave Wala? >> That was a bus. It was a bus on like what kind of bus? >> The transit bus. >> Transit bus. Okay. Okay. And where did you pick up your first vehicle at? >> Right here. >> Right near maker. >> No. >> Okay. Okay. Did you when you left Kyle's residence, did you have anything on you that belong to Kyle? No. >> Okay. Is uh when we go and search the vehicles and the surrounding area where you were contacted, um we already know that there was a cell phone. That's how one of the reasons why we were able to contact you as a cell phone belonging to Kyle. Uh it was pinged. means basically like the the phone company contact them and they were able to locate the phone just by pinging it and so you don't notice it once it's on your your person or anything like that but we can track things like that. >> Okay. >> Um so we that's how we were able to get the lab longitude of where this phone was at and that's how the state police were able to locate you because of that phone. >> Locate me >> locate the phone and then you were that area where the phone was at. >> That's true. I know it's it's way above my pay grade. I'm a simple cop. I just do my thing. >> That's a [ __ ] trick, dude. >> So, that's one of the things that brought us together tonight is that >> this is [ __ ] crazy [ __ ] >> It's [ __ ] 2:00 in the morning, right? >> I know. It's It's been a day. >> A hell of a [ __ ] day. >> Have a seat, please. So they pinged you or they pinged that phone which belongs to Kyle and what led us through to through you and so the conversation that we're having now we have some questions because at the residence there's it looked like there was some scuffle or something had gone on uh some kind of altercation where a fight had taken place and maybe somebody got hurt and I want to make sure that everybody's safe. Okay. So obviously you are from what we can tell are your obsession of some of uh Kyle's things like his phone and one Mikey's vehicle and you're over here a good distance away and so we're concerned that something and we're we're looking for Kyle. So we're want to make sure that everything's okay just right now we have that nobody can find Kyle >> and you were the last person to see Kyle. So, I would like you to help me find Kyle. Where am I going to find Kyle at? >> I honestly didn't tell you, dude. >> Did you guys have any kind of disagreement about the the work done? Is that seems logical? Maybe if especially if you being tired, maybe you're not going to perform the job just like he wanted and there's something going on between you. Maybe some kind of a feud or something like that. But I I I don't know. I want you to use your words and tell me what's in place. Uh there's something took place there that would make Kyle and you not get along to there. There being some kind of disagreement in there. Obviously, we're here. We have a forensic lab. You should watch TV, you know, the CSI kind of stuff. We have them coming down. They're looking into the house to try and figure out what's going on here. So, the more information I get from you now is going to be able to pinpoint this in the right direction. you know, they're going to not just search the house here, search all the out buildings and all the surrounding area. So, the more information I find now is can help them, but also help you because I don't want you going down a wrong path, I want you to give you have this opportunity to explain what took place so we can better understand it. Like there was some accident that took place or some misunderstanding and you made uh decisions to go one way or the other. I want to know now so we don't have to try and look later on and say, "Hey, this this is what we're finding now." And then you have to try and tell me what took place and it doesn't look right. I want you to be able to say, "Hey, this is what truly happened now before we do the complete search of that residence. I want you to give me the opportunity to tell me everything we're going to find cuz you're I think you you're you're you're wise enough to know what we're going to find and I want you to have be in front of that wall that's going down the down the road. Does that make sense? Uh I don't want to jam you up. That's not my goal. My goal is my goal is just climb information fast and and I want to get you ahead of this ahead of any kind of bad thing that's gonna come down or any kind of situation that may not look right to the other people that are out there cuz you are the the possessor of that knowledge. You're in charge. You're the boss. It may not feel like it at this moment, but you truly are. You're the guy that [ __ ] feeling like I hear you. I hear you. It's not there's not always comfortable, but we tried our best that we can, but due to the situation that we're in, we have to do what we we got to do. It's kind of like the job procedures, you know, you got to do one before you do two. So, here we are. You're in charge here. And I want to be better understand this before we get to where the crime lab has processed everything out there and they're telling us what they believe took place. I want you to tell me what took place so I can say, "Hey, you know, I'm talking to Co., He's saying this is what happened. What the [ __ ] is going on right now? Holy [ __ ] [ __ ] I really don't know what to say right now. >> I think I think you do. I think you you have an insight on what took place. Maybe because you you know you haven't had enough sleep. There's some pieces piece pieces that are going to be a little foggier than others. But you You know what's happened that night or that day. You know what happened during this situation. You know enough that you can tell me what took place to guide me down the path that we're on. That you can do that. And I believe that you can because I can see it right now while we're talking here. You see it already playing out. You know what how what happened. But it's no matter what you tell me today, I'm not going to think any differently that you have been I knew if I would have just met you, you know, two days ago or three days ago. You know, you're just a young guy that's uh you know, down on his luck and just trying to figure his way through the world. I can respect that. You know, we just we all make decisions in life. We all have different paths we're on. You know, you're just trying to figure your place out. a young guy, >> but we gota have the information that we're in, right? That we're in right now that the guide me where >> and I want you to be able to say, "Hey, this is where it's at. It's not over here. It's not over there. I know this looks bad over here, but you know, this is where it's the truth. You want the truth, bro? >> I want the truth. Blow up the [ __ ] truth. Yes, please. What happens if I tell you that I straight murder this [ __ ] Then we just keep talking. That's it. We just keep talking and talking and tell me what happened. Like, I want to understand this. You were there and you have the inside story. >> Yeah, but I don't really understand it either, but it happened. >> Well, that's why you can talk with me and we can process it. So, what happened? So, you straight up there ain't no [ __ ] way to process it, bro. I [ __ ] stabbed him like 40 [ __ ] times and he's [ __ ] dead now. What did you just say? Yeah. [ __ ] You said crime scenes are going there. So, it's all in front of me. It's all there. But I want to hear That's why I want to hear from you. Is this is this normal for you? Is this something you do on a regular bas? >> No, it's not [ __ ] normal, dude. >> So, that's why I want to talk with you. So, you help people understand as well cuz this is not him, right? As a person. I'm not saying you're some angel just walking down the street and you just happen to stumble. No, like you make some bad choices, but we all do. We all make sure bad choices here or there. >> I want I want to understand it. So, how did your relationship start or your connection with Kyle start? I honestly don't know. I walked by a house and I saw that one of the windows was open. I sat on the front porch. Knock on the door. No one answered. [ __ ] No one answer. What happened after? No one answered. I [ __ ] went in the window, [ __ ] creeped around a little bit, [ __ ] uh opened his door. He was [ __ ] like crashed out. Like weirdly crashed out. Like he was [ __ ] crashed out hard. Like I even like yelled at him and he never [ __ ] said anything. So I was like, "Okay, I got something to eat and then I left." And I mean there's nothing really else to talk about because I'm there's there's a lot of >> So you got something to eat then you left the house? Yeah. And >> how long were you gone before you came back? >> I honestly couldn't even tell you, dude. >> Okay, so you Yeah, at some point you came back and then what happened? >> I could talk about this [ __ ] right now, dude. We need anything else to kind of give you a little more energy so we can keep talking because I like to talk to you. I want to better understand this. This is this is not you. >> Anything else to give me some more energy? What are you talking about? >> I need a pipe. You need a soda. I don't I'm not going to give you anything illegal or anything, but you need a cup of coffee. You need a soda. >> Need a soda if you got one. >> Yeah, we probably figure out a soda. >> See what we can do here. What is your preference? >> Dr. Pepper. >> Dr. Pepper. If they got it, they'll they'll see what they can do. Okay. I'm not sure. This is not my facilities rehab. That was uh so she's at our office, but they have here. So, you you came back and was um >> What am I going to like [ __ ] am I going to prison right now? Is that what's going on? >> No, right now we're talking. I'm I'm a Washington cop. I don't have arrest powers in Oregon. Okay. I'm talking with you as a Washington cop because we got a Washington situation. >> Okay. So, when you came back, was Kyle awake or is he still sleep? He woke up as I walked in the door with an axe and uh I attacked him. He had a scuffle and he ended up dead. >> You attacked him with the axe. Yeah. With an axe and then a knife and then a hatchet. >> And where did you do all this attacking happening? >> Right there in the house. >> What room was it at in the house? >> [ __ ] mainly dude. >> Main room. >> Okay. Did Kyle say anything to you? >> He just kept asking why. Dude kept >> asking why. >> Didn't understand why I was doing that. >> Did you understand why? Um, >> yeah, I did. >> You were. >> No, I don't. >> I know. It's hard to articulate sometimes. >> No, there is no articulation to it. It's just I was in such a depression, dude. I don't I just any change would be I don't know. Maybe maybe going to prison for the rest of my life. Maybe that would be a good change. >> Okay. >> Cuz obviously shit's not working out here. >> How many days have you been awake? >> Probably a week or some [ __ ] >> What was keeping you awake? >> Crystal myth. >> When was the last time you used >> 3 days ago? >> Two days ago. >> Okay. How do you use it? Smoke it. Shoot it. >> Slam it. >> Slam it. So obviously Kyle's not in the main house. Where else are we going to find Kyle? >> No, you said you [ __ ] you're in the hordes and [ __ ] So I mean you're going to find your >> I'd rather just not even talk about this anymore. >> I know it's a situation that you want to put behind you cuz this is not you as a person. >> Yeah. You you It isn't he because I'm [ __ ] accepting accountability over my [ __ ] actions. It's my past. >> I appreciate that. The thing about our past, we can't really move past it until we've dealt with it. You know, it's still become part of our presence that I always like to say there's a beginning, middle, and end. And right now, we're in that middle section where we're still trying to understand and try and get the the layers out of the depth of it. And I appreciate your honesty with me. And I appreciate your accepting abyss. I can see it's bothering me. You know what that means to me? >> You're you're you're not a sociopath. You're not a uh this hardened soul person. No, you still have feelings. I would imagine that if you could do all this over again, you would you would not have done this. This is not something you want. That's what I see you. >> I don't know. What does this troubles you? >> For a second, I thought I was fighting for something different. >> For what? >> For the love of my life, dude. I thought I was going to get her back somehow. But >> who's the love of your life? >> [ __ ] mother of my children. >> How many kids do you have? >> Four. But none of them are actually mine. Just care about them. >> But you love them. Hey, I know how that goes. >> I haven't seen her in a couple months and >> more she know than that. >> I don't know. >> What's her name? You need to tell me your first name. Fine. >> Her name is Jamie. >> Jamie. >> Yeah. >> She lives in Hudson or Hson or >> I don't know. Where's the last place you saw? >> [ __ ] she was on her way to UT or something. >> Far away. Well, what broke you guys up? >> It just wasn't [ __ ] working. >> Probably the drugs didn't help. >> Usually don't. She had four kids. She has four kids. What are the age ranges? Landon's three. Gabriel's what, eight now? Seven. Anony's 13. Isabelle is what, like 11 or something. >> It's a nice age range. Are any of them yours or they all yours? >> Well, we thought Landon was mine at first, but it wasn't mine, but I was there when the doctors pulled him out of her. So, call yours. It's not always about the the blood in the veins. Sometimes it's the first person who's matching there. >> Yeah, but I have been a father for the past couple years, so can't really say that with honesty. >> You were there then you wanted to come back. >> Sorry things didn't work out with you and Jamie. >> Oh, >> is that what kind of hooked you back into the dope or is that just you the dope was just Did it just accelerate? Yeah, I guess the dope just made me [ __ ] constantly think about her and I was just trying to do whatever it would take, you know, to numb that feeling, get past that feeling. >> Get your daughter. That's probably one of those sodas I've never enjoyed. I like root beer. If you like dark root beer, you like darkness. For me, I think >> 27 flavors. >> So, they're going to grab the for you and we'll draw a piece. Um, but I like to talk more about what happened here. >> I don't know what else there is to talk about, man. I've told you pretty much pretty much everything. >> Yeah. You said that you you took the axe and a knife and a hacksaw thing. What did you do with the hacksaw? >> Huh? >> What did you do with the hacksaw? >> The hacksaw? >> You said you use a hacksaw. >> I used a a knife. >> A knife. Axe. Hatchet. >> Oh, hatchet. I apologize. Thank you for correcting me. Hatchet. Um, and what did you do with that that hatchet? >> Have you guys been to this place or what? I I actually never I have not been to the house. >> I've talked with people that have been there. Um, I talk with the roommates and the neighbors. It's all there. >> Okay, let's pause from there for a moment. Hello. Um, any items that you took with you from the house? This is if you had luggage with you when they contact you. So, were you going to find any belongings or anything uh uh of the uh of Kyle in the the baggage that you had with you? >> I don't know. It was all in [ __ ] the white truck. >> Okay. The bag was in the white truck. Okay. Okay. Um, so that wasn't the You didn't pack that duffel bag in there >> in the truck. >> I don't know. >> Did the cell phone that Who's that? What? the cell phone that we were paying to locate you. Who's where did you get that phone at? >> I'm not sure which phone you're talking about. >> Okay. Was it in the bag or something? You just >> Is it Kyle's number or some [ __ ] >> Yeah. So, it's B like every cell phone we can they can track them. They just ping. If we have a number, we call the phone companies or whoever and they do it. He knows that better than me. >> I would assume [ __ ] would be in the duffel bags. >> Okay. Did you pack the duffel bag? >> Did you put things inside of it? >> Yep. Okay. Okay. Is any of the items inside the dump yours or is it all Kyle's? >> Yeah, I have some [ __ ] too. >> Okay. What are Where are we going to find Kyle? >> I don't He's He's on the property, man. I don't like >> Okay. >> [ __ ] >> What else can I say? Like, I've already admitted [ __ ] guilt basically. Like, >> I just want to get a better understanding. You said the the drugs is what's really motivates you staying awake. Correct. The You were trying to get past uh your breakup with Jamie and you thought this was the best way to do it. So spend the rest of your days in prison, possibly pretty stupid, host choices could have made. After you left uh Kyle's house, where did he go? [ __ ] I don't I [ __ ] Oh my god. I don't know, dude. [ __ ] I need a day or two to [ __ ] like go to sleep and get some rest before I appreciate that. What we can do is uh I can stop the recording and then I can just interview you again with you again about this. >> Yeah, that would be cool. >> Okay, I know they're still going to mess with it for them. So do that. Okay, so I'm going we have a this question I have to ask every time we do recording. This is for Washington state. It's called the Smith out aid. It's a do you certify or declare or under penalty. If you certify or declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the state of Washington better than you told today is true and correct. This is what we were talking today. You were trying to know me. You you told a truthful statement. Okay. I'm going to end the recording. It's about uh 2:23 in the morning on the uh 9th of uh July 2019. I think this one is still recording just to let you know, but we'll hand out recorders. So this is done. Um, I appreciate you talking with me and I know this is a a very scary situation for you. Something you probably never think was ever going to transpire in your life and uh we'll we'll work with you and try and get things it out. Okay. >> Thank you, dude. Choking. >> Colobby J. Hedman was originally charged in Walaw Wala County, Washington with first-degree murder and theft of a motor vehicle in connection with the July 2019 death of Kyle Marts. On May 6th, 2020, he pleaded guilty to first-degree murder with premeditated intent. The vehicle theft count was dismissed under the plea agreement.
