and he stayed and and there's blood everywhere. And I grabbed the phone and I'm like, there's blood. I don't know what I don't know if he's alive. I I don't I don't know. And I got scared like I don't know. Was he fighting this? On May 31st, 2019, in Kirkland, Washington, Sahar Osama Fedak was brought in for questioning in connection with the death of Darwin Garcia Franco, who had died as a result of a homicide. Spoiler details are in the video description, and the full results of all charges in the case are laid out at the end of the video. So from from your own words, do you mind just kind of tell me what happened today? >> I don't know what happened. >> Just just as far as what you heard. >> I was screaming. >> Okay. >> I was sleeping in the room with Yousef was really tired. >> Mhm. >> He wasn't he didn't want to sleep early and we went to bed to sleep. And we I slept with him, fell asleep. >> Mhm. >> Then I heard screaming, darling screaming. And I I woke up. I don't know what's the word. In shock. >> Mhm. >> And Yousef woke up too. And as I was leaving the door, I saw I I heard a lot of screaming and yelling and I I heard Darwin saying, "Call 911." And then I I was walking I was getting up and carrying Yousef and I'm trying to go to the door. I'm still like not fully awake and I see na nigh with blood and and then Darwin says, "Shut the door. Shut the door and call 911." So I go back and I see Darin on the floor crawling. I shut the door and I sat on the door and I grabbed Yousef. >> What? And what door is this? >> Like this? >> No, I know. But uh was it was it your bedroom door? Was it the front door? Yousef's room. >> You >> I just stepped out of the room >> and I went back in. >> So you saw Darwin down the hall. >> Darwin was coming out of the room walking. Not um >> like a baby crawling. I'm sorry. I'm forgetting all the words. >> No, that's fine. Where was he crawling from? >> The bedroom. >> From your bedroom. >> And then I saw Nanny at the door and he and and What? What door? >> Her my bedroom door. >> Your bedroom door. Not Yousef's. >> No, Yousef's room's here and N's here. And And my bedroom is here. >> It's two doors. And it's like this. >> So he's crawling out. >> He's crawling out and N is there. And at that minute, I just shut the door, sat down on the floor with Yousef, >> and I started shaking. And I hear breaking and whatever. And Nanny talking in Spanish. I don't know what she was saying, but it was too loud the screaming and I hear something breaking. >> Mhm. >> And my phone wasn't with me. My phone was charging on the couch. >> Okay. >> That's where we usually we usually charge the phone. >> Do you know where your phone is now? >> Here. >> You do have it. Okay. >> I called because after I heard everything calm down, I got scared. I opened the door and I saw all the blood and I saw Darwin on the floor with all the blood and I ran to get my phone and I called 911 and and then I got scared because I'm like I saw so much was blood everywhere. I even stepped on the blood. >> Yeah, >> there's blood everywhere and I was shaking. I called 911 and then I didn't know what to do. So you know the stairs when you're coming up Darren was laying down there >> on on on top on up. So when you go up the stairs >> Mhm. >> And >> so he he was lay on the hallway landing area. >> So he just crawled the whole >> all the way down. >> Not down. >> Well down the hallway. >> Yeah. And he stayed and and there's blood everywhere. And I grabbed the phone and I'm like there's blood. I don't know what to I don't know if he's alive. I I I don't know. And I got scared like I don't know. Was he fighting with Nanny? Was he fighting with someone else? I saw the the what what do you call it? The balcony open. >> The slider. >> Yeah. >> Slider door. >> Yeah. >> On the upstairs area. >> Yeah. There's Yeah. I didn't go downstairs. So I thought maybe the the the the person whoever it is is still here. I got scared. So, I went to the kitchen and there's a pantry. I went that in there and >> there's a pantry in the kitchen. >> Yeah. I don't know if you saw it when I went and got the treat today for Yousef. >> Okay. [clears throat] Yeah. >> And the 911 lady said, "Stay there." So, I sat on the floor and with one hand talking, you had Yousef. >> Where were you sitting on the floor when you were in there? >> In the pantry. Yeah. And [clears throat] I and I and my other hand I was grabbing the shelf of the the bharat. What is the bharat? Spices. The spices. I'm scared. I And it's dark and I don't know. And I asked her, "Shall I go and see?" And she was like, "Is Darwin okay? Who's Darwin?" And she's asking me all these questions and I'm like, "Just get the detective that was here in the morning. I forgot your name." And she said, "Wait, wait. They're coming. They're coming." And I was so scared because I hear noises in the house. >> Mhm. And >> what do you remember what you heard in the >> Just just like noises, but nobody talking. Just noise. And I see the lights. >> Did you Did you hear people walking? Did you hear people jumping, breaking, or was it something else? >> I don't know how to describe. It was noise. It was like noise. No. >> So, I'm just moving around the unknown. >> Yeah. >> And then and then I and then I heard the police because she told me the police are in I didn't know they were the police, but then I I hear him. I hear men talking. She was like, "The cops are are in the house." And then they came and he pulled and I was scared to let go of the door. But then when I saw the top the the flashlight >> flashlight >> and then he opened and I saw the suit and I just said please please please don't leave me please don't leave me and he said stay there and then I when I put my head out I saw Darwin and he wasn't moving. >> So do you remember what was the first thing that you remember hearing when you woke up? >> Screaming. Do you remember what and >> what the screaming was? >> Diamond screaming. >> Do you remember what he was saying? >> Screaming. Not saying not talking. >> So just just loud scream. >> Um, can I have a bag? >> We can go out here to the bathroom if you'd like. >> You going to be okay here? >> Can I have a I'm sorry. I'm sorry. If you you can use the bathroom. I can stay with you >> right here. >> Yeah, we're right here. >> We can leave it open. >> No, no, it's okay. >> Are you okay? >> Yeah. >> Are you sure? >> I need a bag. Just in case. >> Let me see what I can find you. Okay. >> I'm sorry. >> I'm sorry. >> Yep. I get um I get anxiety attacks and I throw up and sometimes I pass out. >> Okay. Well, we're going to make sure that you're okay. All right. And if you need if I need to get a um an aid car here or that to check you out, you let me know. >> No, just just promise me you'll take care of my son. >> Yeah. >> I want us safe. I want us safe. I couldn't take care of him. I didn't know what to do. >> Thank you so much. >> Oops. Sorry. So during the time that you came out, do you or you were listening to the words or screams? Was there anything any audible sounds that you heard from either Darwin or Na N or somebody else? As far as uh >> any what >> any audible sounds as far as uh them saying words? >> Yes, Na N was saying a lot of words, but I didn't understand what they were. So Na N was the only one that you remember hearing talking? >> Yes. >> Or was there somebody else that you heard talking about? >> Darwin, the only thing I remember Darwin saying was, "Call 911 and and and hide. No, shut the door. Shut the door. Call 911. Shut the door and call 911." That's what he said. And then I didn't hear his voice at all. And did you >> Darwin wasn't crawling like a baby. He was what do you call it? >> Dragging himself. It was It was dark. It it was >> Could Could you make out anything that Na was saying at all? >> No. No. >> Does Does she only speak Spanish? >> She only speaks Spanish and I didn't understand a word she was saying, but she was screaming and and I was scared and I was panicking and all all I could think of was I'm sitting there looking at the window and I'm like, "If I stand up and run to the window, can I jump from the roof, me and my son?" That's what I'm thinking of because I don't have the phone to call the police and and I don't know what to do. I was just panicking and I was shaking so badly. I I was sleeping. Do you understand? I was sleeping and I woke up to this. Do you uh do you remember hearing any other voices? Do you remember seeing anybody else in there? No. >> No. >> I was too scared. I shut the door immediately. I'm not a coward, but I was scared. >> I couldn't even save Dorin. I should have like stopped the blood, but I didn't know what to do. I was scared that the person would come and kill us. >> That's completely understandable. >> No, no. I could have I could have like at least stopped the blood, but I don't know even where the blood was coming out from. He was he was >> So you said you came out of the room. Were did Yousef stay in the room? >> Oh, no. I was I was carrying him. So I was sleeping and Yousef was sleeping with me. And when we heard the scream, we both woke up and I got by the time I get up from that small bed and I'm carrying Yousef with me because Yousef, ever since the injury, >> he cries if you leave him because he can't walk. So it's either I have to be carrying him or Darwin has to be carrying him. [snorts] >> So this whole time you were carrying him out there. >> Yes. Sorry. That's so when you came out, did you is there anything you remember seeing? >> Blood. Glass. >> Glass. Tell me. Tell me. >> I saw I saw a piece of glass on the floor. >> Piece of glass on the floor. >> I think it's from the frame or I don't know. What is it from? I saw a piece of glass and I saw all the blood. And I even thought that maybe the glass cut Darwin or something. I don't know. But I saw Nanny with blood on her chest. What else did you see? >> The door open. >> The front door. >> No, the slide. I don't >> slide door again. >> I don't remember the front door was open or closed. I don't remember. I didn't look. I I'm sorry. I didn't look. >> This is just what you remember. >> I wasn't I wasn't paying attention. >> It was It's like a dream. It's like a movie. >> Did you see anything else damaged or anything that sticks out in your mind? >> Blood on the walls. Blood in the carpet. Darwin full of blood. Blood. I've never seen so much blood. So many cops. Cops with big guns. Really big guns. >> So, how what is um what is Na Na's relationship with you and your and and Darwin? Maybe >> I know they live down below, but do you guys interact? >> I mean, I'm just hi hi to her and the kids. I do the laundry. >> She's nice. >> Do you do you share a laundry room? >> Yeah. >> Do they have access to your area? >> Yeah. >> So, they can just come upstairs anytime they want. There's no like door that >> No. And I'm okay with that. She knows she can use the kitchen. The kids go up and down. Is that typical that they come up to your place? >> And Darwin goes down to the office downstairs. Yesterday we went down to prepare the room for the boys because they're coming. We did the beds. We didn't finish them. >> And their their room is typically still upstairs though, right? >> Who? >> When the boys come to visit. >> No. One sleeps downstairs and one sleeps upstairs. >> Okay. So, how many people live downstairs? >> It's nanny and her three kids. >> Her three kids. >> But this is temporarily. >> Okay. Who Who owns the house? >> We renting the house. >> So, you guys both rent separate leases or how does this work? >> We rent She's not renting. She's Darwin just had her there for a couple of months. He's helping her out. And he told her two months ago she needs to move. And she's supposed to move next this month or next month. >> And how long have they been living there for? >> I don't remember. Maybe 6 months or something. Before the incident happened by one month or two months they came and then I left the house and they were living there. She works with Darwin. >> Oh, she works with Darwin. Okay. >> But she left him now, I think, a few weeks or a month >> and she got her own job >> cuz someone was living there when I first met you, right? >> It's her. >> It was her way back then. >> Okay. [snorts] >> What was her job with Darwin? the construction, painting is mainly painting, but she helps him with everything. >> Paperwork, stuff like that or >> No, no, no. >> Out in the field working? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> She's one of the workers. >> You said she's not working there anymore. >> No, she she she didn't she wasn't happy with Darwin. They were not in good terms. Um, she was complaining that he owed her money. She was even telling me that she's going to go and rent a a place and she said, "Come and stay with me with you. Leave him." He changed. She even told me about the guy with the red car. Remember I told you that somebody >> said he was Hispanic, right? >> Yeah. What can you describe more for me? >> But I don't know anything. I don't even understand her that much. We talked through Google Translate. >> Okay. So, did you we talked about that? >> She said two days ago somebody that owes him money and and that man if he he asked her where Darwin lives, do you still work with Darwin? Do you still live with Darwin? >> So, someone owed Darwin money or Darwin owed >> owed owed them money. >> I'm sorry. I am really tired and >> and what did >> and she told them I don't know anything about him. I don't work with him. I don't live with them. I don't know anything. And I said what? Why? >> So she was saying that somebody came to the house. >> No. She said that person came and talked to her and said I want to reach Darwin. >> How did she where did she talk to? >> I don't know. I I never asked her where. She did say that there was somebody who came to the house and knocked on the window, but she didn't cuz she was scared it would be the owner of the house because she knows she's not supposed to be renting. >> When did that happen? >> She told me that a few weeks ago >> and that was the red car. >> No, she didn't tell me. >> She didn't tell me. I I don't I don't know. I didn't ask her who it was. I asked her, "Do you know who?" She said, "No." >> When did the red car come by? >> The red car never came, sir. She's telling me about this guy. >> Oh, he just owns a red car. >> Yeah. >> That asked her if she lived with >> D. She'd never seen this person. So, you talked briefly with me two days ago about um that you had some concerns of drug use, right? Because Nene told me that this person is a is a a drug deals with drugs. >> I told you all this. >> And then once there was a lady downstairs, Na N's friend, and Dar was really mad. And I'm like, Darin, why are you mad? And he was like, did you see this lady's arms? And I'm like, no, what's wrong with her arms? And she says it's it's she uses something in her arms. I don't know, drugs or whatever. And I'm like, "How do you know these things?" He was like, "I know her. I know them. I know these people. I don't want them in my house." >> Were these N's friends or were these his friends? >> N's friend. She's a lady, >> right? >> No. No. I'm sorry. The the the lady I'm talking about that Darwin doesn't like. >> Yeah. So it was N's friend that was a girl, right? >> Yeah. I'm not sure if it's her friend or her >> just acquaintance maybe. >> No, I mean her her I know Na has a lot of girlfriends. >> Mhm. >> But I don't know if this was her girlfriend or just a friend. >> Okay. What's the What's the difference between a girlfriend and a friend? >> She sleeps with them. >> Okay. I think Nene has girls that she sleeps with. >> Okay. >> But but >> so relationships with. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Dating relationships. And then um is there anything else that you can tell me that she told you about this person, this Hispanic guy >> and a red car? Did she Did she tell you that he had had a red car or >> a red truck? >> A red truck. Did she describe anything else on the truck or what he looked like or? >> Well, from what I understood from her that he has a brother and they're both Mucho Grande. >> So big guys. >> Yeah, big. That's what I understood. >> And did they work with Darwin? How does how did Darwin know them? >> Yeah, they worked with Darwin >> for him. >> For >> the guy in the red truck. That's what N is saying and what Darwin when I asked him he said, "Oh, he's fine. I paid him. I don't owe him money." But I don't believe Dar because I know he owes money to a lot of people. A lot a lot of people. >> Is Darwin the owner? >> No, I am. >> You're the owner of the company. >> So, it used to be me and Darwin until the day this thing happened. the the the the October thing happened and then one day Max who's the financial tax person told me sah you're Darwin's not on the company anymore and then I called the >> L9 >> the one in both I forgot what they're called and they said you're the only owner of the company and we went on the and I'm like how how did he remove himself because if you what understood is if you own a company I'm sorry I'm really tired >> if you own a company like if being you own a company and you want to remove yourself we both have to sign a paper you can't just go and remove it by yourself >> Mhm. But I don't know how he removed himself. And Darwin says that he never did. But after we went back together and everything and I'm like, "Well, Darwin, don't you want to put yourself back in the company?" And he said, "No, just leave it like this." >> When When did you and Darwin get back together? >> When the case was dismissed. >> Do you know about what when that was? >> When a month and some two months I'm doing this. >> And that's when you moved back in. [snorts] Is there anything else that you remember that maybe could be helpful as far as any conversations that you heard of Darwin or Na Na that were maybe before this date? I know that he he wanted her out. He wanted her out today before tomorrow. He wasn't happy with her and he was going to take a lot of money for her for the for the rent and because she never paid rent, but she says she does. And he said he was going to take money for the electricity and for the electrical and her kids. Alexa is the only one who goes up and down. The kid the other kids hard I mean Alex did once. The other girl never comes up unless you call her too. And it's from And how do they enter to come into the house? >> From the office or from the back door or something? >> The little French door type. >> Yeah. Or or they can enter from the main gate, but they >> they typically do. >> They they never do that. I mean, maybe they did. I don't know. I've never seen >> Does Na N come up there very often? >> So, the the only thing that we all do, it's not a rule that we knock and we say hello. We announced that we're going down or up. That's it. >> Okay. >> But I didn't even hear her come up. >> Mhm. >> I didn't hear anything. I only heard this. >> You were sleep. >> I feel so bad that I was sleeping. >> I'm tired. >> Yeah. >> You have any questions? Would uh would Sif know the person with the red truck? Does he work for the company as well? >> He is. So he was working with Darwin, but this this was his last week working with him and and now there's a new project. They're talking about two new projects. Yesterday they talked about actually Darwin today was going to wake up and do the print so he could take it to the city again. Um, and these two projects were going to be under Safe's company because Safe has a company. >> He has his own company. So they do they just kind of work together from time to time. So he was never an employee of your company. >> He was working as a partner with >> they were working together for two different companies though. >> I don't know how their arrangement was honestly. >> Okay. >> I do own the company but I don't know anything about it. >> Sure. So, >> I only sign the the checks. >> Do you do payroll? >> No, he does. >> Darwin does. >> I just sign the checks for na na or forever, whoever he tells me to. He writes them. Sometimes he let me sign on a blank check and he writes it down. >> Okay. >> When was the last time you saw safe? >> Yesterday. Yesterday. >> Yesterday. Where'd you see him at? Um, [snorts] I met him at the Belleview because he was he's having problems with his uh wife. >> And so what what happened during that time? >> Nothing. We were just talking about his problem with his wife. Are you considered just a good good friend or is he considered family or you know? >> Yeah, they're really good friends. My only close friends I told um are Farah and Safe Max and Amy. >> Okay. And how do you spell her name? Uh Safe's wife. >> Farah. >> Can you spell that for me? >> F A Rh. I'm not sure. F A R H A. Yeah. [snorts] >> Is your relationship just friends or >> Yeah. The She's a teacher and you have school. >> Okay. >> And the kids are very close friends and they've been really good to us. They've been really nice friends. >> [snorts] >> I'm really tired now. >> Go ahead. I was just going to ask if there's any else that you think of that may be helpful or >> is there any communication in your phone with Darwin or Scythe or Na Nay or anybody that would help kind of figure this out? >> Figure what out? >> Who just the communication between everyone? >> Who did this? What was it about? >> No. No, >> maybe in Darwin's phone. >> Okay. >> Darwin's phone is at home. >> Is there do Do you and Darwin text each other? >> Yeah. >> Is there was there any communication that would help us try to put this all together between you? >> No. >> Okay. Cuz when when I was at your house, I mean, you had mentioned you were concerned for Darwin. You you were concerned that maybe he might owe somebody money. >> No, I know he owes people money. >> You were concerned about people coming to the house. Maybe >> because the last time somebody came, Darwin told me, "Go inside." And I'm like, "What's going on?" He was just go inside. So I didn't see who it was. And Darwin went out and talked with them. >> Who was what [clears throat] was happening? two or three weeks ago, but the person didn't physically come in. >> Sure. >> He was on the phone with him. >> Mhm. >> So, there's a car that came, I guess. I don't know cuz Darren was like, "Go inside. Go inside." I'm like, "Who is it?" And he was like, "Go inside." And then I heard them talking on the phone. >> Um, you remember the conversation was? >> No, [clears throat] because he went outside. >> But no. >> Okay. Um, ask Ny, ask save, ask ask whoever you want to ask it. And maybe now, you know, none of us can predict the future, you know, and and but is there would you be willing to let us look at the phone to see if we can just find anything in there? We we could >> we can look at the past conversations and see if we can >> see if we can now that knowing what we know now which is still limited you know we don't know everything but maybe there's something in there that you know even though at the time you had no idea this was going to happen you know >> what was going to happen >> the Darwin this event tonight happened >> of course no I don't I didn't want this >> but that's what I'm saying maybe if we look in the phone maybe we can see something that might lead us in the right direction to figure out who did this. >> Yeah. Yeah, it's fine. >> Okay. What uh what kind of phone is it? Is it an iPhone or is it Samsung? >> Yeah. >> LG. >> An LG. If I take a look at it, does it have a How would you typically open it? >> Like this. >> Is it like a face recognition or is it >> safe? Called me. >> What did he call you? You want to take a look at that? >> Yeah. You want to take a picture of it? Go ahead. >> And then uh that on here. How do you How do you open that up? >> Just tap the screen >> and you just >> swipe >> swipe up. Okay. So, there's no code on or anything like that. >> Okay. So, yeah, typically we in incidents like this cuz of how serious it is, um we try and get everyone's phones and communication and interviews with everyone. um see if there's anything that we can put together. Um so would it be okay if we held on to your phone for right now and did a >> No, no, no, no, no, no, >> no. >> I want my phone with me. I I I don't feel safe. I want I want to talk to Jane. >> Sure. And what about this? What about if we um so typically what we end up doing is we take the phones and we just um copy them onto a we have a program that downloads it and then we just give it right back to you and you can be present for that if you'd like. So that way you're not without your phone. Does that make sense? So we just download it then give it back to you. >> That way we don't need your phone anymore. We've got all the information that's on it. >> Wait one minute. >> Sure. >> Yes, you can. But I do have a question. >> Sure. >> Am I Am I supposed to have an attorney? Am I in trouble? What's going on? >> So, right now we Well, you're not in trouble cuz I We're just trying to figure out what's going on here. >> Why am I in this room which has no wind? Am I like under arrest? You're >> not? No. No. >> No. We're We just took the kids in here, interviewed them as same. >> Yeah. Na's children are are going into we have four rooms and we're we're doing interviews with everybody. >> So it's important for us to separate everyone when we interview them. >> So that way like if if you're listening to what Nia was saying for instance then your story might change and it's just a natural human reaction that that stories change if you hear things from other people. >> Sure. >> You can you can do that when I'm present. >> Yeah. >> But not right now. right now. I really need to rest for a while. >> And that that's okay. >> I'm I'm not going anywhere and I'm not going to use it. And you have cameras and this is recorded. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. That's why that's why we do do it in these rooms. >> Yeah. Cuz that way I don't have to get my tape recorder out like we did last time. Um, and so what and when we do do the the dump, what we'd end up doing is just like a consent form if you wouldn't mind and sign it and you can be present there while we're downloading it if if that makes you feel more comfortable. >> Okay. >> Mhm. >> All right. Um, so why don't we um do you mind if we just fill this out now and then just kind of let you rest and then >> No, no, please. I'm not focusing at all. I'm I don't want to regret anything. So, you want to wait a little bit? >> Can we? Yeah, I want to wait for a while. Can I can I ask now questions or your questions? >> You can ask any question you like. >> Yeah, if you have questions. >> What what's what's uh what's going to happen now? >> We're just trying to put things together right now. So, we have a a crime scene is what we call it, which would be up at the house. And so our job is to take all the evidence that we have up there and collect it and do all of our interviews with everybody that's possibly involved. Um, just kind of like what we did a couple days ago, right? I go down, I I talk to you, talk to this person, whoever has any kind of knowledge about the incident, I talk to try and put together >> all this happens. I stay in this room. >> No, no. We've got to we've got to try to facilitate what we're going to do with you because you can't go back to the house right now. >> Yeah. So, we're going to help it. Was it Red Red Cross that was >> I think >> coming down here, I believe. >> Yeah. I think we're cuz we've got you and your son and then we've got Na Na's children as well who you guys don't have a home right now because you can't go back to the home because it's still being processed by detectives. And so basically, we're going to set you up so that you can take care of Yousef and yourself and >> in a safe place. >> In a safe spot. Yeah. >> Can Jane be with me? >> Jane, >> my advocate. >> You don't I don't see why not. >> Yeah. I mean, >> would you call her? >> Have not. >> No. >> Can you please call her? Can you call Lifewire? Just ask them for Jane Singer. >> I They're not even open yet. >> Yeah. No, Alive Wire has the emergency. Yeah, but >> I I don't know if they're going to be able to get a hold of Jane if that's I can definitely make that request. >> Am I going to be safe there? >> We're going to put you in a safe spot. Yes. >> Are you sure? >> I can't be 100% sure with everything, right? Cuz I don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. I don't know what's going to happen the next minute because anything can happen, right? But I'm going to get you a safe spot that we deem safe at that time. >> Sir, I don't feel good. >> I don't feel good at all. >> I completely understand that.
